FNDM Creator Bio - Power Taco
Tumblr media
Power_Taco on Ao3.
I try to write, often badly, but I do try.
Favorite Characters: Maria, Ruby, Weiss, Qrow, Nora, Ren, Carmine, Robyn, Cinder, Winter, Ilia, there are more but we can cut 'em off there.
Favorite pairings: Death's Whiterose. Ruby/Weiss/Young Maria Calavera. (praise @amelia-yap for the incredible art!)
Tumblr media
My goal is to make them the most popular, ie numerous ot3 for RWBY so 400 more fics to go.
I also will write WR, or them with a +1/2, and enjoy them with lots of fun ladies. Especially getting to take background characters, and flesh them out. May Z, Ilia, Ciel, etc.
Also a big fan of Jailbirds.
Tropes: Not sure. I'm alright with most, but I don't care much for uneeded drama/angst ie not talking out things that would resolve a situation in 5 minutes instead of 30 chapters. I have no idea what tropes I really love though.
Crack is fun I guess. Not sure if that's a trope.
Share fics I'm proud of: Well to try and not be a stereotype let's go with non DWR work I guess.
Frozen Milk and Cereal. Set in the IQD au RWBY and JNPR took the nightmare grimm as a serious wake up call, and upped their training. Friendships are formed between the teams as they struggle with the upcoming dance when Ruby overhears Weiss asking Neptune leaving Pyrrha to be a bit brave, and ask Ruby instead.
Short story featuring the teams interacting, and talking to each other, and hopefully as friends.
Crack series. Ruby writes the 'of love' book series. Somehow this will save the world. A series of 1 shots that result in ruby forming the ultimate polycute and saving the world. We poke fun at harem tropes, and somehow a plot ended up appearing. It's weird to me too man.
Creator's Note: Not much to say you can send me an ask about anything you really want.

I know people have picked up on the board game scene in RWBY V2 Episode 2 (Welcome to Beacon) as foreshadowing the events of the show, but for funsies I want to take a stab at how it foreshadows the general arcs of each four kingdoms myself.
Tumblr media
So we have Blake playing as the Kingdom of Vale, and she's completely unaware of the events of the game unfolding and not really paying attention, clearly distracted.
"Alright Blake, it's your turn!"
"Huh? Sorry, what am I doing?"
"You're playing as Vale, trying to conquer the four kingdoms of Remnant!"
"...Right."
The Vale arc is the first three volumes of RWBY, where all our protagonists are at Beacon, but during that time, much like Blake during the game, they're unaware of the larger conflict with Salem, and aren't actively participating in the war at that point. They are ignorant and reactive instead of active. However it's ironic that Blake plays as Vale, since the reason she's not paying attention to the game and seems distracted is because, out of all the main characters in the Vale arc, she is the one most concerned about being kept in the dark and that they're ignorant as to what's really going on.
Blake: I just, I don't understand how everyone can be so calm.
Ruby: (approaching Blake) You're still thinking about Torchwick?
Blake: Torchwick, the White Fang, all of it! Something big is happening and no one is doing anything about it!
She also leaves the game during her turn, much like how she runs away after the FoB and the end of the Vale arc.
"Right. Well, I think I'm done playing, actually"
Yang is playing as Mistral, and she's the most savvy and knowledgeable (hah) player, winning many rounds of the game, teaching Weiss how to play, and has the other players falling into her trap cards.
"Heh, pretty sneaky sis, but you just activated my trap card!"
Tumblr media
There's two ways this can be interpreted, with how the Mistral arc (volumes 4-6) is when our protagonists start to gather more knowledge and awarenesses of themselves and the world. It's also in Mistral that our heroes have their most decisive victory so far. It's fitting to have Yang playing as Mistral then, since during the Mistral arc she's the one who who learns from Tai to fight smarter, and to question the authority figures around her from Raven, and after confronting her in the vault is the one who retrives the relic of knowledge.
But, most of the losses our heroes experience are because of Cinder, who is from Mistral, and them falling into her own "trap cards" with the Fall of Beacon being orchestrated by her, killing Pyrrha and Ozpin. And in Atlas the same, with her manipulating Ironwood, undermining the heroes plans to evacuate everyone from Atlas, and killing Penny. She often finds ways to trick and exploit others, and is most dangerous when overlooked and underestimated, like falling into a trap.
Tumblr media
Which brings me to Ruby playing as Atlas, where Ruby and Yang have this exchange after Yang's trap card is activated by Ruby:
"Giant Nevermore! If I roll a seven or higher, fatal feathers will slice your fleet in two!
"But! If you roll lower a six or lower, the Nevermore will turn on your own forces!"
"That's just a chance I'm willing to take"
Tumblr media
In the Atlas arc (volumes 7-9) the theme of trust and taking risks is very prevalent. Like the move Yang makes in the game it is a risky one, that could end badly for her, but it is one worth taking nonetheless. They take the risk of trusting Ironwood but he ends up turning on our heroes. Oscar takes a risk trusting Hazel and Ozpin, as well as Emerald later on being accepted into their group, and it ends up working out for them. Ruby takes a risky chance in sending a message out to all of Remnant and evacuating Atlas, which saves a lot of people, but they still lose some, including Penny, a dear friend of Ruby's.
"Noooooo! My fearless soldiers!"
"Eh, most of them were probably androids anyways"
"Goodbye my friends... you will be avenged!"
Tumblr media
Ruby acts distraught when losing her turn in the game as Atlas, expressing anguish over losing her friends who are described as androids by Yang, just like how Ruby is incredibly depressed and broken after the Fall of Atlas in V9, mourning the loss of Penny, who was both a sentient android and Ruby's friend. (I do wonder if Ruby's comment on avenging her friends might be foreshadowing for her wanting to avenge Penny's death in the future, like how Jaune tried to 1v1 Cinder in V5 to avenge Pyrrha, but I think it's too soon to say)
As a sidenote the fact it is a Nevemore in this turn that has a chance of turning on Yang or helping her is interesting, as it puts me in mind of two characters who can turn into ravens/crows, like the bird and poem Nevermore is associated with. It could pertain to Raven, someone who turns on Yang in v5 during the battle of Haven, but appears to help her and her friends in the V9 epilogue. It could also be about Qrow and his semblance, since during the Atlas arc it begins to evolve so that it is not simply a bad luck semblance, but one that can generate good luck too. In other words he can affect whether the chances are in people's favour or not.
Tumblr media
After defeating Ruby (Atlas) Yang says this:
Yang: Not until I draw my rewards! Which are double this round thanks to the Mistral Trade Route!
Ruby: Bah!
Yang: Oh, and what's this? The Smugglers of Wind Path?
Ruby: Bah! Bah, I say!
Yang: I say, it looks like I'm taking two cards in my hand!
After the Fall of Atlas Cinder retrives not one but two relics for Salem, and with Atlas falling into Mantle, two kingdoms are destroyed in one fell swoop.
Tumblr media
Then it's Weiss's turn. Weiss is playing as Vacuo, but has no idea how to play the game. Yang takes it upon herself to teach Weiss how to play and what she can do to win the game:
Yang: Well, Weiss, it's your turn.
Weiss: I have... absolutely no idea what's going on.
Yang: (Yang slides up beside her and puts her hand on her shoulder.) Look, it's easy! You're playing as Vacuo which means that all Vacuo-based cards come with a bonus.
Weiss: That sounds dumb.
Yang: See, you've got Sandstorm, Desert Scavenge... Oh, oh! (She pulls up a card to show Weiss.) Resourceful Raider! See, now you can take Ruby's discarded Air Fleet—
Ruby: (crying) Nooo!
Yang: —and put it in your hand!
We know from the end of V9 that what remains of the airfleet of Atlas, as well as the airfleet of Mistral and Vale, have all flocked to Vacuo's defence. What remains of the kingdom of Atlas, the airfleet, but most importantly the people, have now fled to Vacuo and are trying to make a home there.
Tumblr media
Yang continues to give Weiss advice on how to win the game to Weiss, building her up, until Weiss starts to get arrogant, believing she's going to win the whole game and is the one in control:
Yang: And since Vacuo warriors have an endurance against Natural-based hazards, you can use Sandstorm to disable my ground forces and simultaneously infiltrate my kingdom! (Yang points a finger at Weiss.) Just know that I will not forget this declaration of war.
Weiss: And that means...
Ruby: You're just three moves away from conquering Remnant!
But then Yang turns on Weiss, activating her trap card, and Vacuo loses.
Since this is may be foreshadowing for the Vacuo arc that we haven't seen yet, I can only speculate what this might mean.
...But judging from the V9 extended epilogue and the books, my best guess would be that if Yang/Mistral is meant to be in part Cinder/Salem and their forces, then Weiss as Vacuo is in part the Crown. In the extended epilogue Jax and Gillian appear to be recieving help from Tyrian and Mercury, meaning Salem has decided to recruit them to her cause.
Tumblr media
The Crown wants to restore the Vacuoan monarchy and detest outsiders, especially Atlesians. They do however wish to protect Vacuo from the same forces that destroyed Beacon, aka Salem, and so they are likely going to be manipulated like Weiss is by Yang in the game, being offered aid and giving them advice on how they can win and achieve their objectives, making them believe they can "conquer Remnant", only for them to realise later they were being tricked and used.
"Once again, Vacuo had been isolated from the conflict raging throughout Remnant—only this time it was an opportunity. With the global CCT network disabled, Vale in ruin, Haven leaderless, and Atlas closed off, Vacuo was theirs for the taking. This was likely their last, best chance for a generation. And it was their only hope to defend Vacuo against whomever had been targeting the other kingdoms. In likelihood they had written off Vacuo, like everyone else did, but if they tried to move against the Crown, they would have an unpleasant surprise.
Vacuo wouldn't break this time around."
Weiss: (Weiss stands and a thunder clap accompanies Weiss' overjoyed psychotic laughter.) Y-yes! Fear the almighty power of my forces! Cower as they pillage your homes and weep as they take your children from your very arms!
Yang: Trap card... (Yang's arm appears holding the card.)
Weiss: Huh?
Yang: (Yang shuffles the pieces on the board, Weiss' pieces disappearing in a puff of smoke.) Your armies have been destroyed.
Weiss: (Weiss slumps in her chair, cries and whines.) I hate this game of emotions we play!
Weiss as Vacuo may lose to Yang after realising they've been tricked, but is offered comfort afterwards by Ruby who relates to her losses and empathises with her, which is interesting since Ruby plays as Atlas. So I'm predicting at the end of the Vacuo arc they'll experience somewhat of a loss, whether that's the Crown, our heroes, or likely both, but Atlas will give support to Vacuo and the two kingdoms will come together to heal and ultimately work together, making steps to overcome their tense history with one another.
"Stay strong Weiss we'll make it through this together!"
"Shut up, don't touch me! "
Tumblr media
...Which does make Weiss specifically playing as Vacuo especially intriguing, as she is the SDC heiress from Atlas, and Vacuo is a kingdom that has suffered the most in being exploited and colonized for it's natural resources by Atlas. From the epilogue it seems like the Schnees are being confronted directly with all the harm that has been caused by their family and kingdom, so I wouldn't be surprised if Weiss recieves a certain amount of focus during the Vacuo arc in deciding what her legacy as an Atlesian and heiress to the Schnee name will be. Moving forward to make amends, maybe inspiring the citizens of Atlas/Mantle to come together with Vacuo so they can all help and support one another, instead of isolating themselves and suffering alone.
Jaune offers to plays Weiss's hand for a turn also, with Weiss refusing:
Jaune: (Begging with both hands folded together.) Come on, let me play your hand for a turn!
Weiss: I'm not trusting you with the good citizens of Vacuo!
Which is reminiscent of how Vacuo is mistrustful of outsiders, as we've seen in After the Fall and Before the Dawn books.
Yang follows up to say that Weiss attacked her own forces, which could reference the infighting in Vacuo, especially with the Crown.
Weiss: Besides, this game requires a certain level of tactical cunning that I seriously doubt that you possess.
Yang: Uhh, you attacked your own naval fleet two turns ago. (Weiss makes an annoyed sound.)
Overall Weiss as Vacuo recieves the most help as any player during their turn, being taught how to play by Yang, offered comfort by Ruby after losing, and Jaune wanting to help her by playing her hand for a turn. This seems to fit with both how all kingdoms have flocked to Vacuo's aid in response to Ruby's message, but also Weiss as a character, who starts out "the loneliest of them all" but gradually opens up and warms up to other people. The crux of her arc being looking outside herself and at the people around her, relating to their struggles and coming to support them and being supported by them leads to her better understanding herself and becoming stronger for it... Which is kind of what the Kingdom of Vacuo needs to learn too!
Following this is Blake's turn as Vale, which I covered at the start of this post, but that's not the end of Vale's turn. We don't actually see it, but we know the aftermath of the game is this:
Yang: Ugh, we should have never let him play!
Ruby: You're just mad cuz' the new guy beat you!
Blake leaves the game during her turn as Vale, and presumably the "new guy" which is likely Neptune, who they'd just been introduced too, takes over her hand as Vale and wins the game of Remnant overall, even beating Yang and her trap cards. This is likely the endgame of RWBY itself, our heroes return to Vale after the Vacuo arc during the last volume for the final stand, where they win.
How and what that victory will look like I don't know, as we don't see the last turn of the game, so yet again this is even more vaguer speculation. Neptune doesn't really have much plot significance so I can't think there's any meaning to that except that he's a minor foil to Jaune, and the line of it being "a new guy" that wins, so maybe someone who recently joins our heroes side in the final act of the story, possibly Mercury or Cinder.

Behind Closed Doors NSFW Ship Table
Willow X Jaune X Kali
Tumblr media
Explanations:
After the events of Volume 9, Jaune returns to Remnant with RWBY but maintains his age.
During volume 9 back on Remnant, Willow and Kali (who is a widow) take solace in each others company, both grieving the loss of their daughters.
Once Jaune returns to Remnant, both Willow and Kali have an interest in Jaune, finding him handsome. Jaune offers to help Willow and Kali who help coordinate and help the refugees, even acting as a body guard against both racists and xenophobs alike.
One night Jaune joined Willow in sharing a drink of past trauma, which Kali surprisingly joined, one thing led to another and the trio woke up together in bed and naked. Since then they entered a three-way relationship.
Top 3 Turn-Ons
Jaune
Being teased by Kali and Willow, seeing them sway their hips and show off their asses & tits. How they press up against him and whisper lewd things into his ear.
Revealing clothes. For Kali, it'll be either a more scandalous version of her outfit, sexy harem dancing clothes and most famous is when she wears only an apron. Willow goes for short skirts with no underwear, white tops with no bras, and lingerie.
Nothing gets Jaune more turned on than seeing Kali and Willow be intimate, watching the pair make-out Lewdly with roaming hands and hearing them giggle and moan.
Willow
Willow has been chased after by many suitors but she knows they're all after her money, a facade used against her for their own benefits. So having a genuine romantic time with Jaune and Kali and being shown true love gets her in the mood.
Her neck is a sensitive spot for her, so having Jaune and Kali kiss, bite, suck, lick and nibble on it makes her a moaning wet mess.
Willow was raised to be prime and proper, so having her body be molested and touched in such a forbidden way is a massive turn on for her.
Kali
Her ears are sensitive so feeling Jaune or Willow pet and rub them gets her purring, but feeling their mouths on her cat ears gets her pussy purring.
Kali is always ready and willing for sex, so Jaune and Willow could simply say they want her or even just pull her somewhere and she's down to fuck.
The famous Bellabooty deserves to be worshipped, so having Jaune and Willow show their appreciation for her ass by smacking it is enough for Kali.
Has More Relationship Experience:
Kali and Willow have both been married and had some partners before that, whereas Jaune hasn't ever had a romantic relationship.
Is more curious to try new things:
Jacques only really had sex with Willow to produce an heir, so Willow never got to experiment or try out her toys and kinks. With Jaune and Kali being so willing and open, Willow is happy to try new things
First to kiss/Make-out:
Kali is the more openly affectionate of the trio, so she's first to kiss, which normally turns into a heated make-out, no matter who sees it.
More likely to initiate/take the initiative:
Once again, Kali is the most affectionate, so she's definitely the one who'd initiate sexy times.
More likely to dress up:
Willow's wardrobe is filled with the most expensive and elegant clothes, while Kali has more exotic and stylish outfits, so the pair certainly like to look their best. Whereas Jaune is kinda basic, going with practicality over style.
More likely to use toys:
The amount of toys Kali and Willow have could fill a porn store. Kali's favourite kind of toy is a butt plug, in private it's a cat tail, in public it's a regular butt plug. Willow prefers to use vibrating egg toys on her nipples and clit.
More likely to do dirty talk/sext and send lewd pics:
Kali loves to talk dirty, knowing it'll rile up Jaune and Willow, especially Jaune. She also likes to send naughty pictures to the pair whenever they're away, loving that it gets them ready when they get home.
Has higher sex drive:
Kali is damn near horny 24/7, especially with the toys she has stuff in her cunt and ass.
Is more sensitive:
Willow is the one who cums the easiest, especially when she's mercilessly double teamed by Jaune and Kali.
Enjoys spoiling/satisfying the other:
Jaune wants to leave her girlfriends satisfied and goes above and beyond to do so. He knows the pair have high sex drives and are kinky so he wants to prove he can keep up with them. Especially with Willow, who had an unsatisfactory marriage.

i've said it before but i think while we're in the wilderness until RWBY properly comes back i think it would be a good idea to have it as a side event, and as something i think Viz would be much more capable of managing and organising than RT would've been
which would be a Star Wars Visions/Halo Legends kind of animation serial - a bunch of different studios each getting to do their own take on the RWBY mythos, whether it just be set in the world of Remnant or a short story with the girls, sliding scale of action, seriousness and comedy
i think it'd be fun and cool to see the world of Remnant through the lens of like, Trigger or Orange or Mir's approaches to animation

So, in honor of Pyrrha’s birthday — or more accurately, the RWBY Chibi short the YouTube account reposted about her today — I have a question:
Weiss says Pyrrha won the Mistral Regional Tournament four years in a row, which is a world record. We don’t know for sure that Pyrrha became a cereal mascot because of the victories, but since we learn those things in conjunction with one another, and then Jaune says mascot status is usually reserved for star athletes…probably it’s connected.
But is it a direct link, or just a causal one? Do winners of the Regional Tournament, in Mistral or everywhere, get some kind of brand deal associated with winning? Like, they sponsor the event and then the winner becomes their new celebrity promoter in return? Is it optional? Can you turn it down?
And the most interesting question to me: did every winner of those Regional Tournaments get the same brand deal/sponsorship? Was it only for Pyrrha because she went undefeated several years in a row and was pretty, or was this a regular deal?
Because assuming that:
A.) Regional Tournament Winners consistently got if not Pumpkin Pete’s specifically then a similar brand deal for winning, and:
B.) Remnant’s other kingdoms have a Regional Tournament like Mistral’s (we know Vale has multiple junior combat schools, so it seems likely they at least also have competitions between them)…
I mean, given her skill and relatively standardized path to a Huntsman Academy, it’s perfectly plausible that Yang also won at least one such tournament while in combat school. And therefore that Yang also spent at least a few months as a cereal mascot — which Ruby and Qrow would probably tease her about.
And I’d really enjoy writing that.

One of my favorite concepts lately has to be "Let's throw Jaune into multiple universes and see if he survives," all starting with All the Difference in the World (yes, I know I've mentioned this fic a lot, but I don't care. I love this story. LONG LIVE JAUNEXARTORIA!)
Sneaking His Way into the Multiverse is a story I'm really enjoying. During the events of The Fall, Jaune, after defeating an idiot who ended up in the world of Remnant, obtains a phone that allows him to stop the time in his world while also granting him the ability to jump between different dimensions.
Now determined to stop or at least minimize The Fall, Jaune has decided to explore various dimensions, obtain all the objects possible to stop The Fall and save his friends. However, he is not alone, as during the first world he visits, he acquires a companion of sorts willing to help him (for a small fee).
The great thing about this type of fic is how Jaune navigates these new environments, meeting the native people of these universes and having to figure out how to avoid being killed. Also helpful is the companion he acquired during his first foray, who is responsible for keeping Jaune aware of the dangers that threaten them both.
This is a good fic with a good number of chapters so far; I really recommend it.

So I think we all understand at this point that much of the Fairy Tales of Remnant and various other in-universe folktales and legends that have been told or otherwise mentioned up to now are IMPORTANT. That these stories, particularly the ones that are given some kind of focus, are meant to relate to specific events or characters and generally foreshadow things that will happen or be revealed in the show. Whether in the direct sense of ‘this story is actually relating real events that are significant to characters’ like The Story of the Seasons to the Maidens and Oz, or in more indirect, symbolic fashion like Oscar and Ozpin idly discussing The Girl Who Fell Through the World in Volume 8.
Suffice to say, fairy tales in RWBY clearly MEAN something. Especially if a fairy tale is clearly being connected to a character or characters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To that end, going forward I think we should really be looking at The Warrior in the Woods, and in-particular the animated short, as being narratively tied to Summer, Raven and Taiyang. And specifically meant to foreshadow what Taiyang’s relationship with Summer and Raven was REALLY like.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For one, the connection the animated short draws is not exactly subtle. The short is flat out framed as Tai reading the story to Ruby and Yang for bedtime, with the boy in the story looking like a young version of Tai while the titular Warrior looks literally like a combination of Summer and Raven. And to top it all off, the story even broadly reflects what we already know about the relationships of the three; with the young man losing the woman he so admired and loved just like Tai lost Summer and Raven. Again, the connections are not in ANY way subtle here.
So with that base established, what more can we potentially glean as foreshadowing here?
Well, as I’ve stated in previous posts, I think it is telling that while the Boy in the story did love the Warrior, it is ultimately a tragic, doomed love that was never meant to be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And more than that, the story notably only gives us the perspective of the boy, and never the Warrior. And likewise, we never learn how the Warrior truly felt about the boy. She clearly cared about him, enough to consider him something of a friend, but did she feel about him like he felt about her? The story never makes this clear, and I think that in and of itself is rather telling: Despite the boy’s attempts to reach out to her, the Warrior maintains her distance. Whatever growing care or affection she might have felt for the boy, it clearly wasn’t nearly enough to get her to break her isolation or duty to safeguard the village in secret. While the boy may have loved the Warrior, it was a love that in all likelihood, could not and was not returned.
So when we apply this to Taiyang, Summer and Raven, a rather bleak picture emerges: That Tai’s relationships with Raven or Summer were NEVER going to work out. Or that neither Summer NOR Raven actually loved Tai in the same way he loved either of them.
And the thing is, this IS supported even by what little we have seen of Tai, Summer and Raven. Just like in the story, we have been told of Tai’s love for Summer and Raven, yet told precious little of how either of THEM felt about Tai. And what little we HAVE been told or shown has left it rather questionable how either of them cared for Tai.
Raven has made it clear that she cares little for Taiyang in the present, which really raises the question of how or if the two were ever in a relationship in the past. And while the existence of Yang might imply some kind of relationship, let’s also consider the possibility that Yang was actually an unplanned pregnancy. The result of a possible drunken, one-night-stand between Raven and Tai. Which would certainly put Raven’s reluctance to be a mother in a VERY different context.
Tumblr media
Then we have Summer, and thanks to Ruby’s tree-vision, I think we can count her feelings for Taiyang as being at best ‘ambiguous’.
For one, as I’ve stated elsewhere, Summer’s scene with Taiyang is curiously lacking in especially overt romantic gestures. A lack of noticeable flirting or particularly romantic physical acts like a kiss. They do hug, but as I’ve said before, RWBY has used these close, intimate hugs just as much if not more often to convey platonic or familial affection. Note also that Taiyang is the one to clearly initiate the hug, not Summer
Tumblr media
More than any of that, it’s clear that Summer is putting on an act for Tai in this scene. In the scene she is clearly pensive and uncertain and maybe even afraid, but the moment Tai walks in, Summer immediately adopts a mask of ‘everything is normal, don’t worry about anything’. Which calls into question how much of anything Summer does/says in this exchange is truly genuine, and how much is simply an act for Tai’s benefit.
Tumblr media
Summer clearly does not trust Taiyang with the truth of what she is ACTUALLY doing. And the clear ease with which Summer assumes this mask implies that this is likely far from the first time Summer has done this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just compare Summer’s scene with Tai to both her previous scene with the sleeping Ruby and Yang, and her following scene with Raven; both showing Summer not putting on any kind of act for anyone else.
Tumblr media
Most notably, despite whatever resentment she might feel towards Raven for leaving them (or perhaps just leaving her), Summer clearly trusts Raven, more than ANYONE, with helping her on this mission she considered so vitally important.
Tumblr media
Summer certainly cared for Taiyang, that much is clear. Otherwise she wouldn’t put so much effort into reassuring him that everything was fine.
But did she love Tai in way that he loved her? Or was it simply a role she went along with for his, and possibly more-so Ruby’s and Yang’s benefit? Given the clear emotional mask and barrier we see her put up when around Tai, I would call the answer, at BEST, ambiguous.
Which all ties perfectly into what we see in The Warrior in the Woods.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The boy in the story, who is presented as looking just like Tai, loved a mysterious but noble warrior, who is presented as looking like Raven AND Summer. But the love the boy felt could not or was not returned and the warrior would instead vanish into the night. Just like Summer and Raven did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, and the ending of the story match-cutting a shot of the ‘cross between Summer and Raven’ Warrior to a shot of Ruby who likewise has a lot of visual similarities to Raven as well as Summer MIGHT be hinting at something too…

& in fact one of the things that makes salem compelling as a character is this juxtaposition between her personal cruelty and the rightness of her cause; it bears repeating that she chose to live in exile rather than fight back for thousands of years while ozma dedicated himself to the cause of destroying her, and that her war follows on the heels of ozma forging a global alliance and then, as ozpin, abruptly locking down the relics in apparent preparation to summon the brothers back to remnant. if salem’s true goal is to avert the final judgment—get rid of the gods—then it is clear from the historical timeline and the events immediately preceding her commitment to war that she really did not want to go to war.
but with the information she has and the experiences she’s had there really is no other way to achieve her goal – every other possibility requires her to take it on faith that ozma is willing the break from his task now, against all signs to the contrary. he is still openly promoting worship of the brothers and urging everyone to live as if the final judgment will come tomorrow while zealously guarding the relics needed to summon them – no reasonable person would conclude from ozpin’s public actions that he is, in any way, wavering from his task, and so it is wholly irrational to expect salem to just intuit that somehow. and if ozpin is, as he seems to be, more committed than ever and on the brink of summoning the brothers, war is in fact her only recourse.
what makes salem a villain in this story is the abusiveness toward her associates; her individual cruelty, far more than the war of last resort, because the cruelty has no justification. and i think rwby is interested in the tension here, between how long salem refused to fight back and how cruel she is on a personal level. the tenderness with which she speaks of humanity versus her violent resistance to letting herself care about any one specific person.
i think it’s easy to write the cruelty off as a simple matter of salem… not caring, not having any interest in caring – in extremes this is how we get the "spoiled bitch" reading – but the same could be said of ozma; he’s nicer about it but no less willing to use people as disposable tools. why does he lie? why does he manipulate? why does he get violent when his secrets are about to be exposed? you don’t treat people you care about that way.
so ozma has his reasons – the trauma and the cognitive dissonance and the self-hatred and learned helplessness that motivates his submission to the divine mandate, the palliative fairytales, the retreat into dissociation to cope with being forced to exist as a parasite, and so on – and so too does salem, it’s just that hers are made more opaque. what drives this woman who speaks so lovingly of human virtue to treat individual humans like garbage? some of it is sheer alienation – she hasn’t been allowed to participate in civilization in thousands of years, of course she is antisocial – and the trauma of ozma’s betrayal, the deeper trauma of collective punishment, the fear of being hurt again, the resignation to being seen as a monster no matter what she actually does…
which i expect will begin to rise to the surface over the last few volumes. but the point is i do think her villain -> hero arc will turn almost entirely on ending and atoning for the personal cruelty as opposed to the war, and in fact i imagine there may end up being a stretch of the story wherein salem has moved clearly into the ‘good’ camp (as in: made things right between herself and her remaining associates, cinder in particular, and her true end is known to the audience) and still actively in conflict with the vacuo coalition because Her Cause is just. and that’s the kind of complexity rwby is interested in.

Okay but, I love it when fantasy worlds have myths and legends that are just in-universe fiction that serve as in-universe "just so" stories.
i.e. While some of the fairy tales in RWBY: Fairy Tales of Remnant are based off of things we KNOW are based off actual events, and some others are implied to be based off of (in universe) true stories based off of context clues, there are some which are just demonstrably false, like the one where humanity accidentally breaks the sun and has to make a new one.

i'm 50/50 on whether they should have just skipped over the traveling part of V6 and gone directly to atlas or not, and the main reason is the fact that the closed borders are really only an obstacle for the heroes—the villains just show up, unbothered.
which isn't automatically a problem; cinder's comment about snow boots implies the plan was to land somewhere in solitas and then walk to mantle—a method i'm assuming tyrian and watts also used—which makes sense, but then neo does her little trick, turning the mistrali aircraft into atlesian one and??? first of all, that's not how it works, radar and call signs exist—things team rwby & co had to deal with—, there's no reason why atlas would let in an aircraft that only looks atlesian with everything else flagging it as mistrali aircraft while their border is closed. and secondly; air traffic control exists. you're telling me that cinder knows the lingo to not get flagged as suspicious? or that no one would recognize her voice as the one from fall of beacon, especially with ironwood / atlas on high alert? feels like a massive oversight.
but also, by skipping the travel, there's more time to explore mantle and atlas. instead of a montage, they could have had a story line in the same vein as arrowfell—not necessarily the exact same, but something that takes them to the tundra so you can still have a limited group going through 'the lost fable'. they could even crash there while flying over it towards atlas if having the lamp there is a concern, hoping for help to arrive soon bc they managed to send an s.o.s signal right before the crash; same idea as with the train, just ensuring that they make it to atlas within V6 rather than having the entire volume dedicated to "the travel".
i don't know. i've just noticed that they tend to have this "travel volume" before each kingdom—V4, V6, arguably V9 too—, leaving less downtime to explore the main cities before shit has hit the fan, and at times it feels kinda... unnecessary? a sort of a "this meeting could have been an email" except all the events / character arcs of the travel volumes could have been handled within the kingdoms with slight changes here and there. well, mainly V6 and V9, V4 works just fine bc team rwby is scattered around remnant anyway... though... mistral could have used some fleshing out, so maybe not lol.
it's not like there's anything wrong with travel volumes, and argus is nice bit of extra worldbuilding, but when you've already got limited time and resources and you're actively running out of money, you gotta pick your battles. and sometimes those battles are focusing on what already exists and making it as best as it can possibly be instead of running around and inventing more, making everything more shallow as a result.

Hello again! I really liked your answer to my questions, I've read this post about 6 times already! (I really love it) So I want to ask you, what do you think will happen if Oscar drinks tea from the Ever After? I just really hope that in RWBY beyond episode 3 Oscar and Ruby came at the end to separate Oscar and Ozpin (not the soul in half, just stop the merge, but Oscar and Ozpin are still connected) and what do you think will happen after Oscar drinks tea and he and Oz return to the Vacuo?
sorry if here any mistakes I just used translato
Hi! Nice to hear from you again, and I'm glad you liked it. Now, this is a very interesting and very complicated question you've offered me. I like it. I'm gonna put it under the cut, because this... is going to take a while.
From what we've seen in the epilogues, in RWBY Beyond, Oscar is losing more and more of himself. Ozpin's losing himself too. They're losing themselves and each other to the merge and who'll they'll become together. It's stopping being Ozpin's experiences, Ozpin being the subject of fairytales, and starting to be Oscar referring to those past events as his.
If you think about it, the curse, the merge, is kind of like a really twisted, fucked up version of Ascension, where the choice of purpose is completely taken away instead. Ozma was given a task, a role, a purpose, a part to play in the story of the battle between light and dark, and that purpose has been passed on, whether anyone likes it or not. The answer, most often, is not.
In V8, we see Oscar frustrated with Ozpin's return, because he was starting to carve out his own role, figuring out who he wanted to be. That choice is being taken away from him, just like it was taken away from the person Ozpin used to be, taken away from the King of Vale, again and again thousands of years past.
I think a meeting between Oscar, Ozpin, and The Blacksmith would be very, very interesting, particularly in her relationship with the Brothers.
The Blacksmith created them. She said "The Brothers built homes for [the Everafterans], and gave them roles to play". Would she see nothing wrong with the way the Brothers acted, the role they assigned to Ozma and his line? The Blacksmith doesn't seem to be able to know what happens in Remnant, only catching glimpses of it in the humans who fall into the Ever After. The Blacksmith seems to like what she sees, calling humans "Remarkable things [the Brothers] accomplished". What would she think about Oscar and Ozpin?
She seems to value souls, they move through her domain afterall, and she seemed to like it when Ruby asked after "The souls that are moving on to whatever they become next". But the line of Ozma doesn't get to move on when they die. Their souls merge with others, they are subsumed, they are an amalgamation, they are something that has never been before, they are not something they want to be. Would the Blacksmith be mad at the Brothers for what has been done to dozens of hundreds of innocent souls? She doesn't seem capable of condemnation, that is not her purpose, but would empathy be shown for the line of Ozma, including ones past?
The Blacksmith does feel emotions, she's not a robot, she's glad to see Jaune, she finds joy in creating, the "not knowing". Would she find Oscar and Oz a fascinating creation? Or would she be dismayed at how little there is to know, how little choice there is. Everafterans die, and choose what to become next through Ascension. Oz dies, doesn't choose where he goes, doesn't choose where they become, doesn't choose a purpose that can we even really say is his anymore? When they've become so many people, does Ozma's original choice really belong to them anymore?
As always with the line of Ozma, it is a question of choice, identity, and free will.
How The Blacksmith would feel about it, act about it, think about it, is a very interesting question. But there is the question of if she can do anything about it.
Yes, The Tree/Blacksmith made the Brothers, and the Brothers made humans, and the Blacksmith obviously has influence over the humans who do end up in her domain. Would that be enough to supercede the curse? The will of the Brother of Light? The purpose he gave Ozma and every single soul who came after? It'd be interesting if The Blacksmith couldn't. If the Brother's intercession would be necessary to fix what they broke, what they started. But that's not the question here!
Enough hypotheticals, it's time to get down to it. In this scenario, we'll go with Oscar and Oz being over halfway merged, probably a lot merged by this point, but still two distinct entities in their own right. The Blacksmith, whatever her feelings about it, can help, allowing Oscar and Oz to choose their purpose and who they'll become.
I've seen in the fandom a lot that a turning point for Oscar would be/will be when he gets his own weapon. Weapons are so important in RWBY, Oscar being able to choose what weapon he gets, the name, the meaning behind it rather than one he inherits is so important. That carries over easily to the Blacksmith and the choices/weapons she presents.
Choosing to be yourself is a legitimate option when it comes to The Blacksmith! Oscar would definitely choose to be himself, that's without question, even if he's not sure who that himself is, he's willing to make it. I think that would best go down if instead of choosing one of the weapons The Blacksmith presents or choosing Long Memory, Oscar makes his own. I personally think it would be very cool if The Blacksmith let Oscar use her forge to make his own weapon, make his own self, make who he chooses to be.
I think that extra effort to physically make his own weapon would also be important. There's a lot more weight there, the weight of a purpose assigned, the weight of so, so many souls behind him, clinging to him. I think in that moment, Oscar would be straining to go forward and, like all parents, Ozpin would have to make the choice to let go. Let Oscar move forward into the unknown instead of the path laid before them, let go even though it's hard, even though it's scary, because letting children choose their own paths and who they are is very, very important.
Oscar being able to literally forge his own identity, his own path, would be both symbolically appropriate and also very cool.
Now, we also have to consider what would happen to Oz. Both Ozpin and the entire line before him, whatever small, pedantic difference there may be. I think it's too late to let the previous souls go. They're merged, and there's no separating them. They're gone. They're here but they're gone. There's only Ozpin left. But what that would mean, well, that's up to Ozpin. He'd have to make his own choice on who he is, who he becomes, what his purpose is.
I... don't think he'd choose to be himself. I think he'd be so, so tired of the purpose he was assigned. I think he'd like to make his own decision, and I think he'd choose to be someone else. Let the line of Ozma end, expire, be no more. He would choose to be someone else. The Blacksmith said, "Choose for yourself one who can leave your burdens behind or choose one who would be enough to bear them". This is what she said to Ruby, so it's not entirely applicable, but the sentiment is there.
I think Ozpin would choose to be someone else. Someone who isn't so embittered by betrayl that they can still trust. Someone who can see the best in people, who can continue to reach out. Someone who doesn't give up, doesn't run away. Oscar showed him someone better to be, tried to push him to be that person. And now he can take that final step, and become someone else with a far better purpose than had been handed down to him by the Brothers.
He can become someone kind.
That is who he wants to be. Kind enough to reach out, kind enough to trust, kind enough to stay even when he's afraid, kind enough to reach out like Oscar did to Emerald, kind enough to fix a broken heart like in Hazel and perhaps... even like in Salem.
Oscar and Ozpin would return to Vacuo together, Oscar the most himself he's ever been, and Ozpin happy to be someone else entirely, but no matter what, they'd stick together.
I think that would be a good way for it to go.

“Wha…?”
All young Ruby Rose could do at the moment is stare at her new friend and partner in stunned confusion as he to hold his hand out to her. Just mere moments ago, said partner, one Jaune Arc, had been out of breath after tearing through a horde of Beowulfs faster than she ever thought physically possible in a mesmerizing display of swordsmanship.
She had been left so speechless and in awe of the display, that she never noticed the lone Beowulf lunging to attack her from behind.
That is until she saw Jaune’s eyes widen and jump towards her in a bright flash of golden light to her aid.
All she could remember was seeing that bright light, feeling an odd sensation on the back of her right hand, the fading ash of a Grimm having been slain.
And the sight of Jaune’s new armor.
Gone was the casual black hoodie, blue jeans, and shoes with a chestplate and gloves worn on top. Now her partner stood before her wearing a blue, coat tailed tunic, with a different set of armor more befitting a royal knight, with armored boots and knee pads over black pants, a black hood pulled down around his neck and silver gauntlets on either arm, and an armored belt with metal folds hanging on either side, blue designs engraved upon the pieces of armor.
Tumblr media
Her friend had merely given his new appearance a mild look of curiosity before turning towards her and stating…
Jaune(holding his hand to her): Demi-Servant Saber, Jaune Arc. Will you be my Master?
Ruby(swallowing the lump in her throat and staring at the outstretched hand in confusion): Um…What?
Let’s rewind a bit, and review the course of events that lead our young, silver-eyed protagonist to this very moment, shall we?
Fate/RWBY; Remnants of Silver Prologue; A Prince, and an Honest Soul

Hello, here I come with something different from your current most popular "theme". then watching a "cinematic" of the current event, from the game nikke :GOV (for short). I couldn't help thinking about the following: "sometimes the greatest heroes are not the ones everyone knows, but those who gave their lives so that they could be." So I was wondering what you can create with this little snippet of my inspiration.
Ooh! Interesting! Alright, let's see what I can cook up...
---------------------------------------------------
"Look, it's her~!"
"Pyrrha Nikos~!"
"The Fall Maiden~!"
The crowd screamed as Pyrrha walked through the throng of people. Flanking her sides, as always, were her teammates, Ren and Nora. The two did their best to both stay close and keep the crowd from following suit. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a simple rendezvous with Team RWBY turned out to be more challenging than she expected; especially if they were trying to keep a low profile.
"Thank you, everyone." Pyrrha waved to her adoring public, her voice soft yet heard by all. "I'm kind of in the middle of something, so could I please get some privacy?"
The crowd murmured their discontent. Nora clenched her fist around her weapon, only to ease her grip as Ren placed his hand to hers. The two had grown noticeably closer since the Fall of Beacon, as well as during the journey from Ruby's home on the island of Patch to Haven Academy, where she faced off against the wounded Cinder Fall, and eventually arriving at Argus only days ago after surviving a dangerous encounter with some hijacking Grimm.
And yet the crowd didn't lessen as much as she'd hoped after being seen so often now.
"You heard her!" A woman called from the middle of the crowd. "She's a huntress now. She has important duties to attend to." The crowd gave variant degrees of apologies and began receding. The only one left from the dispersal was the woman who called out the bothersome grouping. "Sorry if I ruined your day."
"Ruined it?" Nora balked at the blonde woman. "You practically saved us!"
"Saving huntresses and a huntsman?" The woman chuckled. "Wouldn't that be something to tell my wife?"
"Who are you?" Ren asked.
"Oh, I'm nobody special." The woman chuckled. "I'm just a housewife passing by on her way home." She looked down at Pyrrha's side. "That shield you have..."
"My shield?" Pyrrha took hold of her collapsible sheath, though it wasn't in its usual defensive form. Her original buckler had been edged to a more octagonal shape, changing Milo into Milo Mors. Edging alone the bronze guard was a band of blue sandwiching a field of white between. "It's... from an old friend."
"I... I see." The woman's eyes seemed to dim as the smile she presented was only one of a polite nature; not one of joy, but of bittersweetness. "Well, I'm sure... I'm sure your friend would be proud to see what you've been doing with it, saving people and all that." She gave a soft chuckle. "After all, you are the greatest hero on Remnant. Who wouldn't know you by now?"
"I..." Pyrrha gulped. Suddenly, the woman in front of her reminded the Fall Maiden of her old friend. The same one who smiled his same dorky smile with blue eyes that shone with a kindness not often seen by huntsmen these days under blond locks shining with that same golden joy he shared with his smile.
"Pyrrha?" Nora asked, placing a hand on her leader's shoulder. Ren did the same for the other shoulder, offering silent solidarity. Looking to the two of them, she grinned.
"I believe that the greatest heroes are not the ones who are known, but rather those who gave their lives so that we could be."
A faint light seemed to shine in the woman's eyes, followed by a single tear. She chuckled and wiped her eye clear with the back of her hand. "I'll have to remember that one." She turned away, and with her, so too did Jaune from her life.
Pyrrha smiled, happy to have known her partner for all the time they'd shared together. Replacing her shield, he turned away as well, her team following suit. "Let's go, Team JNPR. It's time to move forward."

Hey I'll take you up on that offer of a list of your favourite Bees fics 👀👀👀
Always looking for more. I feel like I've barely scratched the surface though. And if they're half as good as the Midnight Bees fic then yes please!
Oh Anon do I have a list for you.
A Note Before We Begin: Most of these Bumbleby fics are lengthy, multi-chapter pieces, often coming in at 70k+ words. The majority of these recommendations are not light reads because I am a sucker for emotional journeys full of ups, downs, and angst. If you're looking for more lighthearted recommendations, then I am unfortunately too much of an emotional masochist for you!
