Being an asexual femme* lesbian can feel so alienating because sometimes it does seem like 80% of the butchfemme community on here is just NSFW, and no matter how many tags you filter or blogs you block you still get bombarded with those posts, but you also never want to say anything about it because you know on this site especially there's been a culture of shaming lesbians for expressing their sexuality/sexual desires/activites and the last thing you want to do is contribute to that

*I said "femme" because it's my experience but I imagine this must also apply to asexual butches

I think I'm done using the donut thing to describe attraction when discussing aro and ace things.

I think, "Oh this book looks interesting!" works better.

Because there's a thousand different reasons people might think a book looks interesting, some people have much different prerequisites to find a book interesting and might need a lot more information to even be interesting enough to look it up, and, crucially, it still doesn't mean that much.

Because even if a book looked so interesting to you that you bought it or got it from a library, you might ditch it twenty pages in. Or, you might read the whole thing but just like it and don't love it. Or it might just be. Fine. At the end of it all, it might just be. Fine.

And plenty of people can relate to, "I want to read but nothing looks good!"

And equally well to, "Well, I'm not particularly interested in this book, but I want the information or to read the book my friend is reading to understand it, or I'm just that bored and it's here." You don't always read a book because it was the one true book for your soul.

It just works better for me, I think.
