I saw a Troilus post and that made me have Feels™ all over again. Something that particularly upsets me is the image of Troilus being dragged by his hair to Apollo's altar:

Like even putting aside the fact that Troilus, apart from being Apollo's son, is also a suppliant to Apollo here and to harm anyone in a god's temple is already an unforgivable violation of the sacredness of the place-

Troilus was a little boy or a youth at the most. His hair was most definitely sacred to him. It would have been cut and dedicated to Apollo, the protector of boys, if he had reached his adulthood. But he got dragged by his hair to his death, as if he was an animal being sacrificed to the god. Achilles didn't simply kill Troilus, he deliberately violated everything Troilus would have held sacred to him - his hair, his body, his god's temple...

Achilles had previously killed Tenes as well, another son of Apollo, despite Thetis very clearly warning him not to do so. So all of this was him knowingly spitting in Apollo's face, if you think about it.

oh god stupid thought: diluc willingly disowning kaeya that day bc he knew he was going to go after the past that caught up with Crepus and if anything happens to him, he doesn't want Kaeya to follow too or get involved. (The cryo vision being the thing that 'saved' kaeya in the end in their fight? felt like a sign)

Turns out, it went better than hoped bc he's alive but mondstadt had changed so much since he's been gone and he still doesn't know if he'll also end up like his father again so he doesn't even try to amend things (smthng smthng bc he doesn't feel he deserves it either). Kaeya never learns what Diluc learned about Crepus, just that he went on a rampage in snezhnaya.

Also it makes no SENSE for Feyre to be resentful of Tamlin not rescuing her all of a sudden? Tamlin saved her already by returning her to the human realm. SHE returned to fight and die for him. She KNEW she'd most likely die but she was there to rescue HIM. It's not like she got kidnapped by Amarantha and he just watched, no she came to die for him. It's kind of weird to blame him for not getting her out when she came in to get HIM out.

So yeah, ACOMAF is awful in this regard and I just don't get it. It would have been quite easy and possible to make Feyre realize that Tamlin isn't right for her without literally making shit up about him that conflicts with book one.

i think it's weird that trans women specifically are told so much to "temper our expectations" regarding transition, talked down to and told "you won't look like an anime girl" (a thing nobody expects) and "you'll just look like your mom" (a refrain i hear weirdly often in a community where ppl's relationships with their parents aren't the best). like, why do trans women need to be condescended to like this? i never see trans men being told they won't look like buff action heroes and they need to get comfortable looking like their dads

what i imagine is this is largely a response to the fact that many trans women are dysphoric, many of us are hyper-aware of how we look and present, bc 1. we're women in a society that views womanhood as an elaborate, expensive and time-consuming performance first and foremost and 2. not passing is actively dangerous for us in the current political climate. a lot of trans women are intensely dysphoric, struggling to learn the performance of womanhood for the first time later in life, frustrated by things like voice training and other aspects HRT can't affect, and constantly terrified of the implications of that. trans women aren't begging to look like supermodels 3 months into our transition, we just want to pass as women and feel comfortable with our own appearance

and apparently that desperation, fear and uncertainty is really annoying to the people who share a community with us, and so rather than listening they decide the best course of action is to make 500 posts lecturing us about womanhood from the perspective of somebody who fundamentally does not grasp our struggles

i even see some trans women perpetuating this and i feel like in many cases it's the affluent, white or otherwise privileged transfems who don't have to worry about it to such a degree. i'm not saying there's not a subsection of the culture that's toxic or fueled by reactionary beliefs, but those people were never going to be moved by this type of language anyway. the people these posts are trying to reach are people who need less being talked down to and more just being understood and helped and heard

I started playing Devil May Cry these past few days, and while DMC 1 wrecked my ass with the platforms and the PC controls mixed together, I'm very eager to play DMC 4 solely for Nero and Kyrie.

found another ellison book in a store but its a compilation made after his death without any of his bitchy little prologues to each story. like if i cant read about how annoyed he was about being tardy to everything in his day to day life before reading the ticktok man, or how he only wrote IHNMAIMS in one day based off a friends science fiction painting of what would later be the tedslug, or a borderline bragging anecdote about how he wrote a story in the middle of a dinner party to spite his friend who said 'no new story ideas are possible', then I DONT WANNT ITTT!
