Uh-oh. I've been on a Batfic binge and I've had an idea. ...I might have to write it out if the plot bunny doesn't hop along soon... I swear that plot bunny sat there and stared at me. (See below edits for the relevant links.)

So, Batman and Bruce get separated. Like, there's just two of them now. One is what's expected of Batman and the other is just everything about Bruce that isn't specifically Batman related. They get along surprisingly well despite Batman being as paranoid as ever and no one else knowing what to make of a shockingly friendly Bruce who isn't a bumbling idiot facade.

Cue several chapters of shenanigans and family bonding as Bruce uses all his newfound time to drag Batman kicking and screaming into healthy human interaction with the rest of the Batfam and Justice League.

Batman is late and Bruce shoots Joker dead. Empties the entire magazine center mass, dead. Not taking chances with that clown.

Cue the Robins learning what a real screaming row with Batman sounds like.

Batman is not coping.

Bruce is not sorry and they both know that no jury in Gotham will convict him, the prosecutor will be purposefully lackluster if not outright sloppy, and the judge will take the most ludicrously lenient shred-of-feasibility reading of the law he can get away with. Gordon offers not to press charges to begin with.

Batman is not coping.

Jason has a new favorite dad. It's not even close. He's starstruck. The Justice League is in shock. The Batfam is splintering as they take sides. The trial of Bruce Wayne is the televised event of the decade, short as it is. Immediate self-defence verdict and not a single person on the jury cares if its true or not. 🎶Ding-dong! The clown is dead!🎶

Batman is not coping.

The proverbial Pandora's Box has been opened. Bruce has killed one rogue. And gotten away with it scot-free. What happens if he decides to do it again?

💙 Starbula Week Day 2: Music ❤️

I originally planned to write Nebula reacting to a playlist Peter made her but in the end I decided to make the playlist instead. :)

I tried keeping it 70s, 80s, 90s and early 2000s as I headcanon Peter, despite his now fully access to every song in existence, sticking to his familiar sounds. I still sprinkled some bands/songs in I could imagine him checking out that aren't his regular picks. For example I think he would be fond of Daft Punk, or more their musical movie Interstella 5555 because of the Alien-Musical-Setting.

It was actually quite the challenge for me imagine what type of music Peter may be into without getting too much influenced by my own taste or straight up coping the Awesome Mix' ^^;

But now enough of the TMI xD

About the Playlist:

The idea was Peter creating a Playlist with songs that mirror his feelings towards Nebula. Straight up sappy, multiple confession songs, songs about how she makes him feel and yeah, I may put in some h0rny stuff in too. We're still talking about Peter "Horndog" Jason Quill. Lol (Nine Inch Nails' Closer was a risky pick ngl)

I like to imagine that Peter left Nebula the playlist to tease her and make her blush, even if he couldn't see it while he was on earth. Nebula would listen to it whenever she misses him, wearing one of his shirts while going through all kinds of emotions. Peter got her a smartphone with spotify installed so she could always listen to his newest additions. For Nebula it's actually so overwhelming but it makes her feel special. Knowing one of Peter's favorite things is music, knowing he thinks about her while listen to those songs may actually made her tear up, even the sappy ones.

Everytime Peter comes back he will ask Nebula if she'd listen to the new song on the playlist and he may go in an explanation rush what made him pick that one. What makes Nebula feeling loved even more.

🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?

okay so this can go a NUMBER of different ways because it depends on the fic i'm writing for!! and it's my blog so i'm going to give a long answer hehe >:)

for jason rancher, i have my playlist, but most specifically way out there by lord huron is my big inspo writing song for this au and i tend to loop it pretty aggressively when i'm writing jason's existential crisis-ing.

for cmad, the range is wild and dependent on the playlist, but i listen to a lot of pvris -- what's wrong, my house, nothing like a bit of vengeful lesbianism alternative to really nail home the vibes of two characters who are extremely estranged from their family/father figures and considered scorned -- but also yeti by paris paloma was like. ON repeat. for a good while.

and for night watch it's similar to cmad in that it shuffles the playlist, but i have one fic i was listening to if i lead by kiltro for a long time while writing it. also big pvris advocate (eyelids, you and i - stripped, use me, i am very predictable sorry)

💖 What made you start writing?

i have always loved reading and writing and creating things since i was itty bitty!! i even once tried to turn in my first manuscript for a story about king arthur's horse (????) to a very real ass publisher, all submitted in a big completely-hand-written binder with a ton of loose leaf pages shoved into the end of it. i was ten. i never heard back, but i sure was proud of myself. LOL

i was part of the original Horse-Art RPG on deviantArt back in like....oh? 2010 or so? which required a lot of writing that was not good, but i loved drawing and writing hand in hand like that!! i honestly really began to cut my teeth running roleplay blogs on tumblr -- big long prose back and forth replies all day every day. i wrote for characters like ellie from tlou back when it was only one video game, wrote my own original characters, and then it grew into writing my own short stories and then my own fanfiction. #cringebutfree babyyyyyy

🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?

for short, song-inspired fics, i usually won't outline -- i'll just fly by vibes and go back and edit the thing half to death! for long fics i absolutely outline, even if i end up having to restructure the outline a couple of times as characters tell me to fuck off and take things in a different direction. but i like trying to at least pretend i have a goal i'm working towards.

my current longest-running slowburn fic was supposed to be like. fifteen chapters. and we're sitting at? nineteen? and nobody's fucking kissed each other yet? but it sure is outlined to completion.

sometimes, not always! i have a youtube mix thing that's just a playlist of popular songs that yt put together for me and sometimes i'll just listen to whatever happens to be on the top of that list. for reference the top three at the moment are teeth - 5 seconds of summer, centuries - fall out boy, and elastic heart - sia. i do not remember how two out of these three go.

other than that this beautiful 10 hour video of background music is one of my best friends.

occasionally i open spotify. and i have more curated playlists there but it does not happen very often. and i could not name most of the songs i have on there off the top of my head if i tried.

yes they have, actually!! putting things under the cut because. spoilers n all that.

honestly it's kind of nervewracking when people speculate lol. it's very very hard as the writer to figure out how much a reader going in blind is going to pick up on. i try my best :)

🤯 What's a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?

what if i struggle with genres... what i write is very much angst-ridden fanfiction, with the associated pre-built world so i don't have to craft the story from its foundations. anything where i actually have to construct the base of the story from scratch is hard.

romance is a big one that i just haven't tried mostly. i've said before that i have written ships but their dynamics have manifested as either homoerotic eye contact that never goes anywhere or divorced. horror i tried exactly once and what i wrote instead more closely resembled a greek tragedy. i cannot do the slasher film externalized horror thing. it's more mundane and existential if i do it at all.

the one that i know off the top of my head is from lies of omission. in ch5 we learn that jason's soul is "untethered" and in ch6 dick experiences the return of hallucijason. these two things are related--hallucijason is a manifestation of jason's soul that has latched onto dick. this is a reveal that happens in ch13.

someone back around ch8-9 commented mentioning that they wanted hallucijason to be jason's soul, but discarded that theory because duke couldn't see the hallucination. (duke could sort of see the all-blades). they were right though !! good for them.

a couple of people also figured this out based off the cliffhanger on ch12!! which is cool.

someone also picked up on the fact that, in the latest chapter, the untitled thinks that duke is the wielder of the all-blades, not jason. good news this is relevant. smile.

+ lots of people have been speculating on the specifics of all of jason's deaths in this universe. some of them have even been right.

Something's Wrong with Jason Todd had a few people guess the trick of it early--jason's got timeswapped with himself from a year ago and just... didn't realize. i think literally the first commenter picked up on it, lol.

If you do plot, do you wait until you have the beginning, middle and end mapped out or do you start before you know your end point and hope to find it along the way?

1. What kind of writer am I? ✍🏽

I like the terms "Plotter" vs. "Seat of the pants" kind of writer. In the past I've called them "Architects" vs. "Adventurers."

In most respects, I consider myself a Plotter/Architect. My brain craves structure to an almost ill degree when writing. 😂 The way I beat writer's block while working on a project is by having a roadmap of what's going to happen next, and that's thanks to my outline.

It'll include plot points, scene changes, and even dialogue and parts of scene that occur to me as I'm plotting. (I don't want to forget them!) This doesn't mean that plot points won't change, or get switched around, or get chucked entirely. But if I have the blueprints of the house, I can change a window here and there, so to speak.

So for longer stories like "Never Say Goodbye," "Smoke Eater," and "Break Me Down," I had a very extensive outline that I had to sketch out entirely before I started writing. I also have outlines for longer one-shots, especially ones with multiple parts, like in the Midnight Espresso-verse.

In fact, the only stories I freeform are the shorter requests/imagines that are sent in to me.

2. Do I listen to music when I'm writing? 🎵

Girl, HELL YES. 🎶 Music is a big part of my life in general, but I need to listen to music when I write. Depending on the story, character, setting, fandom, etc., I'll listen to different kinds of music to get into the vibe of that story.

On the story/chapter post, I often include what particular song inspired me because I felt the lyrics, genre, and/or vibe encapsulated the story I was trying to create. After all, most good songs are stories themselves.

For Break Me Down, for example, I think I've shared with you that I chose "All My Living Time" by Radio Company as the series song inspo. It influenced many of the story's chapter titles. But I also listened to "If I Didn't Care," and a lot of Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, and others in that genre to get the vibe of Ben in my head.

As another example, when I write for Jason Teague or Sam Winchester, I listen to a lot of 90s - early 2000s alt rock and grunge — like Lifehouse, Matchbox 20, Pearl Jam, Five for Fighting, Smashing Pumpkins, Avril Lavigne, etc.

Whereas for Dean Winchester...

Of course it's a lot of classic rock: Journey, Led Zeppelin, Queensryche, Whitesnake, Foreigner, Styx, Fleetwood Mac, etc. But depending on the story, I'll listen to other stuff too. In fact, I often create specific playlists for different stories and series.
