ROSEMARY
ah, the old soul, nice to meet again. the time of ages is etched into your bones, you see clearly. you've watched the heartache in this realm and sworn to solve it. but kindness without limits is self destruction. oh little leaf, strong and wise, you seek to bring peace with your presence. I'd be wrong to say you fail at this effort, but you mustn't set yourself on fire to keep others warm. you wish to please everyone, to protect them all. but if you shield the saplings from the sunlight they will never grow, and you one day will wither. protect yourself too. you know there are no happy heroes, so don't be one. be a friend. your loved ones will not forsake you for not being perseus slaying all their demons. you have your own monsters, why not meet them first before you conquer anyone else's nightmares. oh true-hearted paladin you are brave, and you are good enough. you know that right? be true to yourself, one cannot do anything saintly if they did not tend to their own wounds first.

MINT

oh spry little dryad, spinning sprite, you drift through life as light as lion down. you are the chimes of churchbells and the laughter of faeries. gossamer and spidersilk shine from your ribs. life is fleeting, you more than anyone should know that. something we love today may never see tomorrow's sun. you pride yourself on skipping through moments, soft and merry. but you do not let your soul be tethered. is it for freedom or fear, sweetheart, that you do not let yourself be tamed? you are as fresh as and wild as bluebirds in snow, you smile at your problems before dashing away. hoping they will never catch up to you. but even nike can't run forever. you have been hurt before. but that is life. you wish to never feel that way again, but regretfully I must tell you that is nothing short of impossible. life is but part sorrow part sun, you cannot have teacups until they are burned by the kiln. oh I see the scars child, they shimmer down your chest, I see the pain in your eyes. but I also see the stardust. keep smiling, but allow tears also. you do not have to be solely wonder, fear, you are allowed to be bitter. so bite, and scream, and laugh, and love. that is what makes life worth living.
* 𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐑 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐒
LAVENDER
Tumblr media
oh moon child, restless sleeper, tell me what it's like to dream? you float along the margins of reality, picking up the pieces of fallen memories to sculpt into your own realm. you are searching, but your tongue is quiet, quiet, quiet. open your mouth and sing my dear, silence only does you good for so long. and here you planted roots in the darkness, where not even the moon can reach your leaves. there is such a thing as being too practical, for you sail your ship on perpetually calm waters, and never have you spotted land. your mind has wings, uncage them! allow yourself to dream, you are not too far gone. there is no such thing! trust in yourself dear.
TAGGED: @coyotesteeth ( thank you! )

me realizing i can just infodump and repost about my ocs and world on here without worrying cuz my posts only get three likes each time, ALSO I FORGOT TO DRAW HER FRECKLES IN THE FIRST PICTURE IM SORRY:
Svetanya
Tumblr media
Svetanya, long for Sveta, is a deer satyr. She's pansexual, her pronouns are she / her, and she's trans (specifically identifying as transfemme, and probably deer-related xenos in a modern!AU). If you really wanna get specific, I think she socially transitioned at a very early age (probably 7 or 8), but doesn't want to medically (or magically) transition. (of course I added magic transition, queer fantasy is supposed to be fun!). In these pictures, she's around her late twenties.
Satyrs often live in very communal environments—lack of an enforced hierarchy, individualism, large, ambiguous family units—the whole shebang. Unlike Atlanticians (Merfolk / Seafolk) and harpies, who get along based on similar hierarchical societies, satyrs do not get along with either on the same basis. Sveta, however, is unique in the sense she was not raised in a communal satyr circle.
Although living amongst satyrs is considerably ideal for a lot of humans, satyrs are often targeted by predator animals like bears or wolves as if they were actually animals. The communal living style, similar to herding behaviors, is useful to avoiding attacks, but not full proof. Not only this but the primarily rural lifestyle relies on the environment, of which several factors can decrease crop yields and production. As a result, living in a satyr herd can be quite difficult and challenging.
Sveta's parents, who acknowledged this significant challenge, were tired of predation. So, as a solution, they decided to integrate into a more urban, human-centric society.
Sveta, growing up within a rigid class structure, adapted personality traits and behaviors unlike any other satyrs. She can be arrogant, ignorant, sardonic, and sometimes vain and self-important. Though not only are these traits informed by her upbringing, but by the people she surrounds herself with. She was taken up by a certain human noble, Aylin Ernheim, impressed with her eye for fashion, and gave her a job as a tailor. Something both her parents were weary about, but allowed.
Aylin, in his neglectfulness, allows Sveta to face the brunt of abuse from other vain, self-important nobles. Although on the outside, she parades herself as bold, confident, and snarky, she's only really kept around as upholstery. She's deeply aware of her class, and thinks of herself as someone who exploited others to get where she is. In other words, a bit of imposter syndrome. Despite her sometimes rude honesty and lack of a filter, she knows where the boundary is because it's made implicitly clear.
Sveta also struggles with objectification. She cares a lot about appearances, and can unhealthily fixate on her body (fur, height, face, hair, antlers, clothes) due to her lack of self-esteem. When stripped of the exterior, she's overwhelmingly quiet, observant, and introspective. A type of quiet that'd make you think she was judging you, but she's really wondering if you're judging her.
Kinda went hard into all the negative aspects of her but she has positive aspects too guys, I promise!!!
Because she feels obligated to do stuff for others, she's very supportive, caring, and sensitive. Even if she's kind of being a brat to you while she does it. She's also witty. Satyrs are usually taught more practical skills in agriculture but her intelligence is purely based on word form rather than movement (also because she's just not strong enough for farm work, VERY fragile in terms of super heavy physical labor like that, and especially because of her antlers which are her pride and joy).
Because of her body image issues, she gets bouts of depression—sort of like seasonal depression—when her antlers annually shed (like real deer!). I wanna draw her when her regrown antlers are short and velvety, i think it'd be cute.

do you have a guide as to the extra materials for The Dragon Prince? i keep seeing stuff about comics or books but idk where to start
Not on hand but I can make one here! :D
There are two, soon to be three, canon graphic novels.
Through the Moon takes place between seasons 3 and 4, like a little season 3.5 It isn't Necessary to read it before watching S4 but the story is cool and the extra information is neat. It feels like we might get more info regarding what happened to Rayla while she was gone later in the show
Bloodmoon Huntress takes place when Rayla is a child around when her parents leave. Lots of Runaan and Ethari, also introduces Kim'dael who will be in S5. Again, not Required reading but a fun extra story.
Puzzle House is coming out August 1st and is about Claudia and Soren as children, and we also get a look at younger Viren and other people. Harrow's father, King Atticus is still king in this one so interesting Katolis lore, SUPER hyped for when we get to read all of this one. The Scholastic link has a 15 pages preview if you wanna take a peek.
There are novelizations for Dragon Prince Season 1 and Season 2, they add a bit of introspection and small extra details. Viren in particular gets more of his internal thought processes laid out and for me it just Confirmed a lot of things. Season 3's novelization is coming out April 2nd, 2024. I'm sure all 7 seasons will eventually have novelizations.
Tales of Xadia is the ttrpg book and it's gorgeous and is probably the most lore heavy supplemental material as far as world building goes. The system also looks fun! The website has a character builder too for OC making. As a writer, it's been a great help as far as seeing some aspects of the world laid out. The system looks fun and there are videos of some of the cortex(?) team playing ToX official tales/campaigns but I haven't watched them yet. The campaigns are also available to look at online too.
I think that ToX is getting an expansion at some point since the base game doesn't touch much on Ocean or Star magic, I imagine due to spoilers for the seasons we're coming up on.
There's also a tabletop game called Battlecharged which I haven't personally played and I don't think it Adds lore but I've heard it's fun.
Also, it will likely be a long time before we see it, but there's a video game in the works as well that's in alpha testing right now called Project Arcanum. Wonderstorm is pretty busy!
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE
The Free Stuff:
Reflections are official short stories hosted on TDP's website and all of them are excellent and provide little extra scenes. Some of them are quite impactful, and the ones in this second batch are promising an absolutely wild S5. The first batch was released pre S4 and the second batch is being released now pre S5 as we count down to the new season. They aren't Required reading since the most key information from them will be in the show (going by the S4 ones) but I highly HIGHLY rec reading them all. Banger after banger. As of posting this there may be one more coming.
There's also little 4 panel comics called Everyday Xadia that have been also released during countdown mode and they're just fun/cute. Volume One and Volume 2 (still coming out). Sometimes when people say comics they might mean these, or the graphic novels lol.
Thank you for the ask, I'm always happy to share the TDP love and I hope this was helpful to you and anyone else who'd like a ref!

Hey if you could do a crossover with each of your AUs with another AU what would you pick
I want to write crossovers all the tiiiime! I am blessed enough to have made friends in the fandom that I can poke awake in their inboxes and ask what-if’s about; but ACTUALLY writing a crossover is a whole other thing. There’s some AU’s I am HUGE fans of, that I don’t think a crossover would with LSoW, or Portal Panic, or Flipside. (Flipside is my nanowrimo project lmao.)
Obviously I wanted to write an Empathy is Learned crossover with @alicat54cwriting, and we did! And it was super fun and I learned a lot. If I had to pick more fandom creators to crossover with:
@amevello-blue Obviously. GiTS and LSoW would be SO FUN and heartbreaking, and we’ve already talked a lot about it and how it would work, but we’re both busy with projects at the moment. But it’s on my dream to-do list for sure if the stars can align. (Mainly me finishing a couple things to give it full attention, because Ame is an absolute beast when it comes to juggling multiple projects. Everyone go read The Mystic Forest AU.)
@tangledinink and me talk about Gemini/LSoW crossovers all the time because we have a disease lol. Anyone who knows him knows he loves playing with our characters like little dolls. Me giving Yoshi eight kids in crossovers seems to be a running theme and also very funny to me; including Venus and Jenni it would be TEN. Man’s life would turn into a SITCOM. But also Yoshi having daughters would be very funny and sweet to me he is such a helicopter Dad, and being faced with what he truly thinks would be the worst case scenario for all of his children would be uhhhhhh. VERY BAD. (And we love 'very bad' in this house.)
Tumblr media
(I don't think Kayson would mind me posting a snippet of our convo because we are so smart and correct all the time.)
I also love @mudlarkspur's Catchyou!AU. I think xir Donnie in my AU would be very fun! She's still a kid in the fic (I love their 'assigned girl by gargoyle' Donnie it's very funny and sweet, but xir more grown designs for Donnie and the plot that's to come is super exciting to me, and I think either would be so fun to play with in an AU. Also, the science in this fic I am obsessed with.
I'm not sure if a CROSSOVER with @thedawningofthehour would necessarily work, but they have a lot of OC's and turtles I would love to kidnap and play with. Their world is so rich and well made I feel like I need to study them like student would, it's crazy.
And needless to say a Discord Ronin Admin AU crossover would be just. Clenches fist. So. Perfect. But @melonpalooza is singlehandedly holding the entire crossover multiverse together through sheer force of will, and if our schedules and inspiration ever aligned it would be a miracle.
OBVIOUSLY me twirling my hair and thinking of crossovers is absolutely just introspection and fantasizing, because everyone's schedules are crazy and a lot of fic authors are already (I PROMISE YOU) juggling multiple fics. So nobody go bothering them about it, because I promise you I am NOT shy about contacting people, and chances are I've already gone into their inbox like a shy cat to give them the dead mouse of my AU and already talked about crossovers.
I also have about four different works i really want to get out before more crossing over, because some things like 'The Hidden City Trial' and 'Red King' are pretty integral to understanding how the world of LSoW is going to work moving forward!
If anyone ever wanted to contact ME for a crossover I'd be perfectly fine with it! I've read a LOT of fics in the fandom so you never know what I might have read, and the worst I can say is 'no'. It's the finding time part that's really hard.
Sorry for the long answer! There's just a lot of AU's and fan creators that I'm a huge fan of. ;-;

[20 Question Fic Writer Tag]
tagged by @baejax-the-great thank you!
How many works do you have on AO3? As of now, 47.
What is your AO3 word count? 1,084,458
What fandoms do you write for? Currently neck-deep in my Patrochilles (Iliad/TSOA/Hades) obsession. But I've also written for Dragon Age (Pavelyan), Voltron (Sheith) and Castlevania (Trephacard, Lenector).
What are your top five fics by kudos? High-Flying Birds, Like Friends Do, Winter's Fruit, Jasmine and Yarrow, Where Blood Roses Bloom.
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I love responding to comments!! Even if it's just to say Thank you. I absolutely love rambling in my replies and getting into discussions about lore or characters' motivations and such. This is the fanfic experience at its best for me.
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Honestly I'm not great with angsty endings haha. Even if the fic as a whole is very angsty, the ending tends to be happy. I think the fics with the saddest ending are Loyal To The End and The Wound That Never Heals, both Hector/Carmilla (Castlevania). Some people have told me they found the ending of At The Water's Edge quite bittersweet.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Now we're talking haha. Of my most recent ones, Twin Flames has a very sweet ending. Fall Into Your Tide also has a super hopeful ending, and another favourite is A Place To Be. I'm all about that comfort after the hurt babey.
Do you get hate on fics? I think I've only ever got hate once or twice? As far as I remember. I honestly couldn't care less about it, I forget it as soon as it happens lol.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yessir. Not exactly sure what kind? Are there different kinds? I would say that my favourite to write is angsty smut with lots of complicated feelings. And also I do like sprinkling some kink here and there whenever I feel like it.
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? I've only ever written one crossover and I still love the fuck out of it, it's a Witcher/Dragon Age one with my OC Tristan Trevelyan and Dorian Pavus and it was sooooo fun to write oh my god. I would love to revisit that universe ngl!!
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of? Depends on what we mean by stealing. I have had parts of fics of mine lifted and used in other fanworks without credit, it wasn't great but it's been a little while since then and I haven't noticed anything else (not that I've gone looking though).
Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes! A super lovely person has been translating High-Flying Birds into Vietnamese.
Have you ever cowritten a fic before? Yes! I've cowritten several fics with friends and it's always so nice, I love working with other people.
What's your all-time favourite ship? Oof that's a tough question. If we go by number of fics written, it would have to be Patrochilles. If we go by number of words written, it would have to be Pavelyan (almost 450k 💀). If we go by number of fics I've read and bookmarked, it would have to be Sheith. So idk if I can give a straight and clear answer lol.
What's a WIP you'd like to finish but doubt you ever will? God I really do want to finish A World With You and I do think I will do it eventually, it's just that I know there's a LOT of it left and it's often really daunting. I also want to finish Where Blood Roses Bloom but, again, the plan I have in mind is kind of ambitious and it will take me a while to get there. Also, Blood Roses In The Snow is one I want to get back to, and that one would be easier to finish since there's only like a couple chapters left.
What are your writing strengths? Probably imagery, introspection, and I've also been told I write good action scenes!
What are your writing weaknesses? Dialogue, probably. It stresses me out the most haha. I also used to be able to write complex plots but it's gotten quite hard lately, idk why :(
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I don't love it. I'm fine with a word here and there or even a phrase, as long as it's been sort of explained before or it's one that's widely recognised. I just feel like having a big chunk of untranslated dialogue in the middle of a story breaks immersion and I try to avoid it whenever I can.
First fandom you wrote for? Dragon Age, specifically Inquisition.
Favourite fic you've ever written? Noooo you can't make me choose, don't make me choose 😭 Damn that's tough. Twin Flames is still a huge favourite. A Place To Be is one I often come back to and I'm super proud of how it turned out. A World With You is the first fic I ever posted and the longest, I have spent so much time with it and it has a special place in my heart. And this might be cheating because it's my current fixation, but I feel like you're a walking disaster, and yet— is some of my best writing yet, I'm very fond of it.
Tagging forth to: @elveny @pikapeppa @mary-aries @darlingpoppet @pinkfadespirit @sketchass @starlightvld @petrowriting @in-arlathan @figsandphiltatos @heypax and anyone else who'd like to do this! (Also, if you don't want to be tagged for these memes let me know!)

Narnia Fic Recs-After the Return
I’m starting a short fic rec series to spread some love for Narnia authors, they aren’t in any sort of order other than the really long ones are on the bottom.
A lot of these stories are on ff.net which I know is a pain of a site to use, however, I sorted through a lot of Narnia fics to find these and I think they deserve some love. I did check if anything was on ao3 and put that link instead if I could find it. Please give these authors some love, kudos, favorites, comments, etc. They’re all great and it’s always fun to find older fics!
If y’all have any fic recs you can send them my way, or if you know if any of these authors are on tumblr let me know. I’ll be releasing more rec lists sorted roughly by era so look out for those under #lillys fic recs
Children Do Grow Up by Francienyc
Rated K+, 3k words
This one is short and sweet, based on the Pevensie’s mom and a friend reflecting on how different the siblings are.
Disarmed by Aebhel
Rated K+, 1k words
The classic outsider POV witnessing Edmund’s unusual sword skills (and Peter’s too).
Seriously by ValkyrieVeela
Rated K, 2k words
Another fic with Peter and Edmund showing off their sword skills to confused peers/teachers.
Homecoming by Crimson White
Rated K, 1.5k words
Outsider POV of Helen Pevensie reconnecting with Edmund right when they get home, very cute.
A Good Day by Masterarcher
Rated K, 4k words
Another fic showing how unique the Pevensies are, this time at a Ren Faire, a bit of showing off with archery and sword fighting, fairly lighthearted.
Slip Ups by Aytheria
Rated K+, 22.5k words
The Pevensies make mistakes where they show their true selves/skills a bit too much and people notice of course. Most of the chapters are focused on a single sibling before combining them. A lot is set at school and it’s great.
once a king or queen of narnia, always a king or queen by drigewithoutmusic (@ink-splotch)
Rated G, 12k words, 7 works
A lot of introspection about the Pevensies after leaving Narnia, largely focused on Susan.
National Service by @burntcopper
Not really rated overall, but I’d say T-M, 63.5k words, 7 works
An interesting series really diving into how people see the Pevensies, specifically in a war context as Peter and Edmund join up with the military. More of a otherworldly vibe to the Pevensies as people don’t understand how a couple of kids can be so brutal, charasmatic, and efficient. Little bit of shipping of Edmund in the last works, but not really the focus. The last major story so far is a crossover with Torchwood which is super fun and really brings Susan and Lucy to the forefront.
Stone Gryphon by @rthstewart
Rated G-T, 604.5k words, 17 works (Don’t let the size freak you out, the stories need to be read mostly in order but each plot wraps up in the individual work)
This one has really fun characterization and world building. It’s set after the Pevensies come back the second time, and while it’s set in England, there are lots of flash backs and descriptions of the Golden Age. The world building is unique in the characterization of talking animals and the focus on how the talking animals are similar to actual animals while still being thinking beings. The siblings are split up, Peter makes friends with the professor’s friends and is preparing for college, while Susan starts helping with the war effort. She keeps Edmund abreast of the war through a Narnian code, similar to how they worked as joint spy masters in Narnia.
Be aware there is some shipping of the Pevensies with OC’s especially as you get further and acknowledgement of them as adults because they were adults in Narnia. I’m not sure if I actually finished it, but I still think about it frequently because of how intriguing the world building is and how interesting it is to see Susan and Edmund helping with a human war. Definitely worth checking out.

Hey! Wanna know about my Cool OC World/Potential Series™️?
N- No?
Well too bad, cause I'm gonna tell you about the wonderful world of...
Angel Valley
About
Angel Valley is a small town in the middle of nowhere. The buildings are old and unkept, the grass is tall and thick, it's almost always raining super heavily... weirdly though, despite it seeming like quite an old town, it's filled with mostly teenagers and young adults.
The culture is a bit weird. Every single person there, no matter their personality or the vibe they give off, is shockingly good with technology. Hell, half of the population uses Linux. Everyone tends to reference memes a lot, even the graffiti is just more reposts.
Nobody ever seems to leave. You may think they just like the town, but the truth is that everyone there is cursed. When all the clocks strike 12 and the moon is high up in the sky, you'll be trapped in Angel Valley forever. Try to talk about the curse while someone unaffected is listening, and your head will begin to spasm and glitch out, eventually killing you if you don't stop.
Nighttime is dangerous. Mysterious, pitch-black creatures called "Bits" stalk the night. Their appearances are heavily variable with random, strange body parts. Sometimes, they'll look blocky and sharp; other times, they may look more "human" than you; often it'll be a mixture of the two and more. Don't be too afraid, though, they mostly just go for lonely noobs. Stick around a local and you'll be safe.
Occasionally, a shining light will guide lost souls through to safety. Angel Valley has it's very own guardian angel, but whether it's truly good or evil, no one is too sure.
In summary, it's kinda like Silent Hill but with a video game-y, internet culture-y twist and everyone is kind of used to the weirdness and honestly don't mind at all.
Main Characters
Aybri - Self insert, baby! She's intelligent to a fault and kind to a fault. She loves planning everything out meticulously, but often fails in her goal. Doesn't stop her from buying out the entirety of her local arts and crafts store's yarn, thumbtack, and corkboard supply.
Nathan - Aybri's older brother. Super tall, easily angered, could easily squish you if he wanted, addicted to alcohol. On the inside though, he's a big softie, and with the help of anger management therapy he's managed to channel that anger into protective instincts for the ones he loves. D'awww!
Sam - NOT MY CHARACTER. Certified newbie to Angel Valley, but he's doing his best to learn the ropes. Witty and sarcastic, but in an endearing, fun way. The most badass of the bunch.
The three live in an apartment together and get up to all sorts of wacky hijinks with their other friends from across the town, including but not limited to: stealing from an auction, running from fake cyborg angels, running away from glitchy eldritch beings, doing a LOT of introspection in the rain, and hacking into several important government mainframes.

meet the mun
1. what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have?
I always credit Melissa to a combo of three particular things: a) my personal interest and passion for the Japanese nightlife scene and its uniqueness; b) the movie 'Sucker Punch' (and particularly the character of Vera Gorski); and c) a post that once made the rounds when I first joined the FFVII rpc that wondered if the Turks didn't visit Wall Market for the chili fries or because the girls happened to have the best intel.
And then it was like something clicked inside - I sudden had this 'vision' and Melissa was born after some crafting as a brothel madame who had strong mama bear/caring and nurturing vibes and who had set herself in opposition to Corneo. The two alternatives in terms of earning people's loyalty (fear/love), a cold war of sorts, a lot of fun and layered dynamics to play with from a Wall Market perspective (such as trading intel, working as an informant, etc) and tying in to the game main events.
I always preferred to pick 'minor' muses or to craft characters that fill in spaces and make a world livelier - Melissa just felt right. I guess she works nicely because no one ever thought it was absurd to have Corneo as a nemesis - even with Remake revamping the HBI and making it something else, I decided to stick to my OG view and I was incredibly well-accepted! :)
2. is there anything you don't like to write?
I am very plot driven - and therefore threads that are just winging something and with no ulterior purpose just bore me and I lose muse fast. I like threads to be like book chapters, with an objective in mind - once that's done, I prefer wrapping it up and starting a new one. Smaller things I deal with in asks (although there is nothing preventing me from turning an ask into a thread when it sparks the good muse food).
So I tend to have a basic, over-arching plot line to follow and I enjoy discussing it offline with my partners so we can ask each other what we are thinking in terms of next steps, if a certain event would be interesting, etc. Believe me, this doesn't take away the surprise - I have been hit by unexpected feelings so many times, I love it.
In addition to that, I struggle with fighting/action sequences (I am just super bad at it), overly descriptive things (a room, someone's clothes, a landscape). It just feels like everything I have ever studied about English goes out of the window and my writing turns super dull, I hate it.
3. is there anything you really enjoy writing?
Emotional stuff - of any kind. I have found out that my preferred writing method is one that mixes a lot of thoughts, emotions and bits of lore together, so although a given reply may not give much in terms of objective actions, it will make room for further emotional or introspective discussions to happen. Characters working out their own feelings and perceptions in relation to certain things is a favorite of mine and my replies are frequently novella-like because Melissa thinks (and feels) so damn much.
I also do like setting the scene (as in giving context for a particular interaction) in starters or asks and expanding on lore. Worldbuilding is another favorite of mine and I often make extensive research into stuff that is only going to be briefly mentioned in a thread. Other than that, I'm also into sharing/including NPCs to make the flow of a thread feel more like a book and crafting these small cameos is super fun.
Oh - I do enjoy writing the usual shippy things (including those on the platonic side of things), particularly with Melissa who has such a strong preference for these themes when compared to other muses. However, without plotting (and since she's an OC), it all feels very soulless if I don't know how to get there in a way that makes sense or seems to be aligned with every character involved.
4. how do you come up with headcanons?
I get inspired by different types of media and a lot of real-life references. For general lore/worldbuilding, I tend to leverage from historical or current events whenever possible, all the while trying to tie these things with the existing canon; for muse-specific verses, anything can spark an idea: a quote in a movie, a song, a certain TV show.
5. do you write in silence or do you play music?
I always have music on - it tends to change depending on the specific verse or muse, but I generally have key songs to fall to while writing.
6. do you plan your replies or wing them?
I plan them as a rule (including asks and memes) - even if it's mostly in my brain and as a general line that I want to follow so I can go from A to B within a few paragraphs. It doesn't always work, though - sometimes I rework the entire idea, or get hijacked by the muse and directed to something else instead.
7. do you enjoy shipping?
Yes - I adore it, and building connections and creating ships is something I really like to do, from discussing it to dropping aesthetic posts to a customized tag. For Melissa in particular, they play a large and significant role as she is someone very much transformed and shaped by love and attachment to people, so my ships for her invariably become a part of much larger and complex verses.
This also goes for platonic dynamics - I like the concept of ships because they allow me to visualize a setting/plot much better and build around it with so many little additions that it feels alive and organic. I start creating timelines and events and it is just so satisfying to see it all coming together.
One thing I have learned with time is that, despite enjoying shipping, I like to be able to talk/connect to the other mun offline (talking about it and plotting is fun!) but also I try to be selective to the point of exclusivity. Because I am so plot-driven, I end up building so much around one variant/portrayal of a given character that I just become partial to it and blind to others - and because I don't want to project my dynamics onto duplicates, I'm multi-single-ship as a result (as in multiple ships, but just a single one per each muse - although exceptions sometimes apply).
8. what's your alias/name?
Mari, because that's how everyone calls me anywhere, anytime. I actually get confused/bothered if my full name is used because it sounds more serious and I just think it's either a stranger calling me or a boss/my mother being angry, haha.
9. age?
Old enough to remember the hype re. having a Blockbuster card around here; these where the premium video rental shops, haha (and nope, I never had one, I only wished I had).
10. birthday?
A late winter/early spring child! As a kid I thought I was born in spring and loved it, but then I realized spring is just later in September and that I was actually a winter kid by a few days, haha. But growing up, winter (winter as I know it, mind you) became my favorite season, so it was all good!
11. favorite color(s)?
Used to be black, silver and blue but these days I'm super fond of turquoise and shades of green? I seemingly cannot settle on a single one forever.
12. favorite song(s)?
I am contractually required to always reply with 'GLAY' and 'Yuuwaku' haha (this song is so damn important in my life). Here's an awesome video to introduce you to my favorite band.
13. last movie you watched?
'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' - one of my top 10 favorite movies, one of my top 5 movie openings, one of my top 3 Fincher movies.
14. last show you watched?
I just finished (re)watching 'Nana', only this time I made it to the last episode. I forgot how emotional this show made me feel and how epic the soundtrack is.
15. last song you listened to?
'Raise Your Glass' by P!nk, a courtesy of my spotify shuffling things haha.
16. favorite food?
I never know what to say here, there is just SO MUCH I love? I think pasta generally ranks very high, followed by pastel and pão de queijo. On the sweet side, I am obsessed with coconut and paçoca.
17. favorite season?
I might have spoiled it here, but it's winter - again, my winter. Brazilian winter. Tropical winter. The winter I have experienced in the Netherlands was depressing, dark and horrible where my nose bled, my skin cracked, I got shocked every time I touched anything metallic and I was just miserable; I love blue skies with sunshine and something below 20 degrees outside.
18. do you have a tumblr best friend?
I do! I mean, I could just say that I have a bunch of really awesome mutuals and I wouldn't be lying; or that I am closer to some than to others, and that would also be true. But it's no secret that @dojimakaichou is just on another level because Dawn and I talk every day to the point I feel weird if we don't; we don't just talk about roleplay, we talk about everything, we have weekly movie dates, we send each other gifts, we record videos for our families and we spent 10 days together last year with plans for more annual encounters. :) She's my bestie (and not just a 'tumblr' bestie) and honestly I only wish we lived closer but we make do!

Hi! I’m Emi! I’m an 18-year-old transfem who cracked at least 30% because of tumblr and therefore naturally was obligated to inflict myself on y'all.
I'll be honest I was about to talk about what I'll mostly be posting here when I realized I have no clue. So instead here are various things I might post/mention:
-funny things from my life #emi irl
-writing/oc ideas, tagged with my project names(see below) or just #emi writes
-being weirdly introspective randomly out of nowhere and then going back to rbing memes #emi thinks
-overanalyzing songs, with or without fandoms attached #songs reimagined
occasionally mentioning:
-#the council of moms, for my 2 moms
-#that fucker, for That Fucker (you'll figure it out)
-#AK47, for my best friend
and here's some fandoms *deep inhale*:
Paranatural, The Locked Tomb, Homestuck, The Legend of Eli Monpress, Rolling with Difficulty, School Bus Graveyard, Aurora, El Goonish Shive, xkcd, Castoff, Cosmere, Earth 2068, Minecraft, Dark Matter, MTMTE/Lost Light, SCP, Owl House, Gravity Falls, Alan Becker, Greenglass House, and probably more I'm forgetting
I'm an aspiring writer, so you'll probably see stuff tagged/mentioning some of these(putting this under a cut if i can figure it out):
Aberrant: A three-ish part series(as in, there are three full series within this universe) about a bunch of queer magic teenagers doing their best to fix the world. So far the parts are Acclimation, Antiques, and Apocalypse, but those names might change. Aberrant is my biggest/main project. Literally begging you to ask me about this so I can infodump about my gay superhero babies.
Driftless: what if we put eldritch gods in Mean Girls and they were lesbians about it. In other words, the four de facto queens of their public school(who all hate each other) are abruptly given the powers and godly forms of four (mostly) dead eldritch deities, and it goes from there. Only two arcs plotted so far but I have a feeling tumblr will like this one so maybe you can bully me into writing more of it(please)
Mayview Middle and the Three-Body Problem(working title): my Paranatural fanfiction. Basically covering "what if the other two major clubs/groups at MM, the Journalism Club and Johnny's gang, ended up as spectrals as well". So far I have one arc, thirteen chapters(around 1k-2k each), fully written, and incredibly vague plans for three more arcs maybe? For some reason I can literally only write this while not taking notes during chem class, which is why I haven't written more. Now on AO3!
The Unliving Learning Community: less an actual writing project and more a collection of OCs. They're a small dorm/polycule made up of various supers who can't quite be considered human, or alive, or both, anymore. They're fun.
Orbit: Not much to this one yet. Basically just a high fantasy setting I'll eventually figure out something to do with.

4!!! 18!!! 23!!!! 30!!!!!!
4. a story idea you haven't written yet
I have a few for Tales of the Abyss!! There's obviously my sequel to Scion which i've been outlining, and then I have two one shot ideas, one where my OC Aula has a talk with Noir in Nam Cobanda, and another where Peony's mom comes to Keterburg when he's still pretty young to visit and come to a PTA meeting LOL
18. if you keep them, share a deleted sentence or paragraph from a published fic
so usually i don't keep them but since i do have a master doc of scion info (and bc it was so damn long) i did keep some various scenes that i eventually decided to cut. there's actually an insane amount of cuts towards the end...maybe i'll release them all on tumblr someday
“Don’t call him Master,” Dist says sourly.  The little creature frowns. “But Master said—” “Yes, well, he’s dead, isn’t he?  And more than that, he was a child.  No wonder he had such an inflated ego,” Dist says.    “There’s no need to radicalize the animal,” Jade says, sighing.
23. pick three keywords that describe your writing
OUGH.....i'm so notoriously bad at describing my own writing...i would say emotive, balanced, introspective...balanced especially bc i really take an active effort to keep things light-hearted and heavy, to give breathing room after something big happens. i'm also of the philosophy that more emotional moments hit heavier with a dash of humor or other hope--like a little salt in your cookies to bring out the flavor
30. share a fic you're especially proud of
i really like family resemblance, which is an introspection on rosinante, law, and doflamingo...it was a super fun experience to write and super satisfying to finish!
send me a fic writer ask !

Fic Writer 20 Questions
Thank you for tagging me @h1myname1sv!
1.) How many works do you have on ao3?
104 (it's not all fics, a few are fanvids. I do have a lot more fics in Italian not posted on Ao3, though.)
2.) What’s your ao3 word count?
137,912
3.) What fandoms do you write for?
A lot, I'm very multifandom! My current obsession is Daredevil and it led me to write on many other marvel characters (Natasha and Clint, Peter), an historical fandom of mine is Detective Conan and I might write something for it soon—if I manage.
4.) What are your top five fics by kudos?
What am I looking at, Matt? A short piece I wrote for fun right after watching 1x08 of She-Hulk; I was hyped and so was half the fandom.
A marvelous october collects the stories I wrote for last year's writober (mixed up with flufftober prompts). It's mostly Daredevil and it has a few chapters I'm pretty happy with, but I branched a little with other marvel characters (Kate, Clint, Kamala, Peter, Layla).
Ideas live forever (let your voice be heard) I'm really happy this story is so high here. It's a one-shot for Barbie [spoilers ahead]. After the ending, it follows Barbara adapting to the changes brought by her new life and coming to terms with things that didn't change—namely, her lack of attraction to anyone. AroAce Barbie for the win!
Three times Daredevil isn't a lawyer plus one short and fun 3+1 fic with Matt being sassy as Daredevil and Frank deducing something about his lawyer. (Secret identity who? Matt doesn't know her)
Not my friend (who are you?) I wrote this one for the dde promptfest, it was fun! It's about Brett reaching some conclusions of his own during S3 about his favorite (?) vigilante.
5.) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I usually do! Don't often know how to answer so maybe it's just a 💜, but I appreciate the people who comment and I try to let them know.
6.) What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
That's a tough one. I'm all for angst, but I need happy endings. (Or, well, hopeful ones.) The angstiend ending (and fic) I've ever written was my OC's reaction to her best friend's death, I'm pretty sure (it doesn't exist on Ao3).
7.) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Now that's hard for the opposite reason, lol. I'll go with The joys and concerns of teaching magic bc it's more than slice of life/fluff for the sake of it, there is some trouble/action before the happy ending.
8.) Do you get hate on fics?
I don't think that's happened recently, no. I got hate for my ship back when I started, in 2013 in the Italian fandom, and it was awful, but I'm not 15 anymore and I think I'd react in a very different way now (I'd ignore them and keep writing whatever I want).
9.) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Nope. I don't believe I'm capable of it LOL <- same prev!
10.) Do you write cross overs? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I've written a couple in the past. Craziest probably was Detective Conan/Yu-gi-oh!
11.) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know.
12.) Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don't think so.
13.) Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Yes, I have, and it was super-fun!
14.) What’s your all time favourite ship?
Heeeh. I'm a multishipper girl, and often I'm perfectly happy with my favorite ships being platonic as well as romantic, so... I don't know. One of my oldest OTPs is Shinichi/Shiho from Detective Conan, I'll go with them.
15.) What’s a WIP you’d like to finish, but doubt you ever will?
My original fantasy novel. I haven't touched it in 3 years and right now it feels pretty impossible, but I do hope to get to plot and write it properly one day.
16.) What are your writing strengths?
Introspection, I think. And conveying emotions to the reader.
16.) What are your writing weaknesses?
Action scenes make me cry and descriptions are a work in progress ;_;
17.) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Absolutely, if it makes sense for the fic! Playing with languages is fun.
18.) First fandom you wrote for?
Naruto!
19.) Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
This question is so mean. They're my children! Okay, I do have favorites—plural. If I reeeally have to choose, probably What's in a soul? I'm really happy with how it came out, in Italian and English both.

get to know the author
name: Mari.
pronouns: she/her.
preference of communication: definitely discord for mutuals who I've chatted for a while to further plot and everything! I can use the tumblr IMs at first, but if I typically offer to switch to discord pretty early on if the other mun agrees.
most active muse: currently Eirene, with my fandomless OC Melissa (@stingslikeabee) in second, and my beloved Yakuza leggy man Akiyama (@akiiyamashun) in third.
experience / how many years: gosh, I'm a Fandom Old (tm). I've used a million platforms and I started with passing notes in school and writing on actual paper; it's 15+ years doing this on and off.
platforms you use: tumblr at the moment, but I've gone through everything (forums, AIM, discord, livejournal, MSN, skype and so on).
best experience: I had a couple of really great runs in the early 2000s on livejournal and the RPC there, then since 2020 onwards here on tumblr on Melissa, including branching out to Akiyama and Eirene. It's been a constant/stable writing exercise which has helped me a lot through irl things, too.
rp pet peeves: I think the biggest one is getting what I call 'passive' replies? I'm not sure how to describe this, but feeling like I'm carrying the thread by myself and that the replies do not offer any new elements (no questions, actions or anything to react to or move the thread forward) make me lose muse very fast. Of course, sometimes this is necessary and makes sense in context! My issue is when this is a standard thing and the storytelling aspect does not feel shared, I guess. This is what makes roleplay fun and different from fanfiction, in my mind. :)
fluff, angst, or smut: all of them! I love flip-flopping through genres although smut is something I'm only comfortable after plotting and enough ooc interaction with the other mun. I'm all for telling interesting stories, no matter how they come to be in terms of being presented.
plots or memes: plotting all the way! I'm heavily plot-based and I have a preference for plotting a general timeline where we can move as we wish for threads and memes; I struggle at keeping interactions alive without some sense of direction or objective behind it all. It's fine to have the occasional slice of life or more conversation-based threads, but I generally like to have those within a bigger context.
long or short replies: long replies, I'm afraid - I just seem to have an issue with brevity, to be frank. This is something from my personal life that bleeds onto work, school assignments, real life letters etc; I write a lot, I write fast and I write frequently. It doesn't bother or strain me and as a result I've developed a rather introspective style of roleplay where there is a lot of thoughts/feelings included in replies, so they tend to be longer than average, I feel. I am always lowkey afraid this intimidate others - because it shouldn't! And I never expect the same length in return, just something to react to, really.
best time to write: it used to be during work hours when I was at the laptop already and alternated between work stuff and replies to take breaks, but now it's more evenly distributed during the day, I guess? I'm usually not writing super early in the day or very late at night because English is required and I tend to be only half-coherent and running mostly on default software that is equipped with Portuguese only, I'm afraid. >_>;
are you like your muse(s): definitely not hahaha. Apart from a life in the corporate world, we have almost nothing in common - not even the hair color! I'm more emotional, I know just the basics of chess, I have no super powers related to partial mutation, I don't really enjoy wearing high heels everywhere and I grow attached to people way more frequently than Eirene does. I'm pretty fucking good at my job, but I'm not a business prodigy either.

do you ship any of your muses with some of your others? (Lol. Lmao even.)
Tumblr media
From a muse-creation perspective, this blog is ship-focused! Yes, But, I'd say the major differences is how seriously I take the actual ships from each other. (these could be asks all their own, in complete honesty.) idk, I guess I have a compulsion to believe that my muses are prey to tropes and cliches and get critical- Plus, I don't write muses that I 'control', so it doesn't matter how "cringe" or pathetic I might find em- some ships are They're Idiots, others really sweet. Depends on what dynamic and emotions fuel the ship- I write ships that "deal with" character flaws, typically. it's narrative/introspective, morally. But I do know that I 'respect' the ships I have with others' muses more for the most part. though those are often a bit more planned or spontaneous, rather than the limbo my muses exist in between meeting and being 'really close'. (mid burn, really.) anyways.
I'm the most normal about Felix with either Rex or possibly Brookie- the most normie and mundane relationships I think I'd have here; though they aren't yet really 'canon' yet, probably due to being a bit lowkey? He's also not on the muse list currently, but my robot OC, Sterling, also falls into this but it is a little canon b/c he's just a sweetheart. I can't imagine Sterling with anyone but Felix, genuinely.
Most of my canons have an idealized relationship with Felix- shipping them a lot because they're genuine sweethearts, productive sweethearts. yayyyy altruism-
I'm super not normal about my Volo with any ship- because he's a muse that pushes the lust boundary quite close to the line; he's dramatic, he's a baby bi, he's kinky, and his ego size slides on the extreme scales- it's threateningly passionate. He's just not normal about people. He carries chaser energy without actually being one. I joke to myself 'he Will fetishize you' at times. So I find him amusing to make fun of, to a point. But the other half of the time I do adore him, because it's nice that he loves so hard, shows it well. it's just basic, man hot. but the consequences...
I state my opinion on finding Magnus a ridiculous chickenshit quite often, because the man can't communicate. What I like to do is joke like he's a loser, but am happy when he gets good things, ultimately.
I do Ship Pit and Shulk, they just seem like they'd be besties cause they're sweethearts, always have. bffs, boyfriends, whathaveyou. villager, aka Felix, with them is the OT3. I also ship Ninja and Shopkeeper, just cause snarkxmeathead is a stupid-fun dynamic.
I think the only muse I'm neutral towards shipping is Boyfriend, because he's just here to have a fun time- it sounds fun, but he just hasn't done anything besides say really unhinged stuff; it sounds funny as fuck in theory.

Eclipse: A Kny Oc Insert Series
Tumblr media
There are many stories being told many times in many places.
It turns out you stumbled upon this one. Maybe by chance? Maybe it was meant to be? Whatever it might be, you’re here, reading this, and that must mean something.
What is love to a blade? And what are tears to spectators? That, I can tell you, but the picture is much more complex than what you might think. For love is but the most wretched and painful thing in this world, and the sun and the moon are not destined to be together for very long.
Happiness is not for heroes, certainly not for these ones, pinned down by chance to a gruesome destiny.
Dreams and hopes crash against the harsh reality, making these lovers fall apart and pick up the pieces, time and time again, for an eternity, in an endless cycle.
That’s the epic tale someone would expect. But maybe, just maybe, in this life, they’ll break out of their fates.
However, not just yet.
Stone Cold: First Mission to Rehabilitation Training
Blossoming Fissure: Infinity Train to Red Light District (WIP) the latter comes with a spotify playlist and a youtube extended version
If what you’re looking for in a kny fic is:
a deeper exploration of Tanjirou’s character as well as the concept of kindness in the kny universe
an expansion of countless canon characters and elements already present in the story
adding other themes tied to the oc and tanjirou that will slowly become major
insane amounts of symbolism
more screentime for female characters (kanao especially bc fuck gtg) ((nezuko and aoi too))
properly dealing with the trauma of both the oc and tanjirou (instead of whatever the fuck gtg did)
good treatment for abuse survivors like senjuro, sanemi and genya + bunch of ocs
fun dynamics and friendships between oc and the kids + found family at its finest
tragedies ((tragic romance))
crying, bc people are constantly crying on my comments section so I guess I should say that too
and probably a bunch of other things you can discover by yourself
then I’m your writer and this is your fic!
I plan on improving on aspects that personally fell flat for me in kny manga and i’m doing that through ocs + an insane amount of introspection in literary every character i can get my hands on. it’s definitely gonna be fun and amazing so i hope some people can enjoy it too.
I work super hard on this so I just want people to like it, I guess it was time to make a Big Post (tm) let’s have fun^^

Writing Tag Game
I was tagged by @noire-pandora @midnightprelude @mogwaei @serial-chillr @faerieavalon @pinkfadespirit @inquisitoracorn and @in-arlathan thank you so much! :)
How many works do you have on Ao3?
On my main Ao3 blog: 23! I also have a second blog where I post works set in the Dragon Age-inspired Modern AU I've been writing with @oftachancer , featuring my OC Tristan Trevelyan and her OC Aran Trevelyan, as well as a few others of our OCs. There are 5 works there at the moment. You can check them out here: jo_writes
What's your total Ao3 wordcount?
On my main blog, 516,722 words. On my second blog, 193,953 words, but the majority of it is co-written with @oftachancer .
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
High-Flying Birds: 589 kudos (TSOA)
Where Blood Roses Bloom: 467 kudos (Castlevania)
Winter's Fruit: 424 kudos (TSOA)
Like Friends Do: 410 kudos (TSOA)
Memories and Echoes: 327 kudos (TSOA)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Always!! I don't think there's a single comment I've ever received that I've left unanswered. I just love talking with my readers and screeching in my replies. I often wonder whether I come across as a tiny bit insane or overly enthusiastic, but you know what? I am both, so who cares 😂 I just appreciate every single person that has taken the time to read and comment on my works, and I want to make sure they know JUST HOW MUCH
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
I honestly don't think that many of my stories have an angsty ending? Most of them end on a hopeful or at least bittersweet note, I think. I'm pretty sure the only ones I've written that have sad endings were those in my Hector/Carmilla series, You Always Hurt The Ones You Love (CV) which were kind of dark and depressing anyway.
Playground Love, the fic I've written with @oftachancer featuring our OCs Tristan and Aran ends on an angsty note, but things do get better in the next installment, Never Let Me Go, so I suppose I am a little allergic to angsty endings XD
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
The Stars Will Guide Us Home (TSOA, Modern AU) has a super soft and fluffy ending, and Fall Into Your Tide (TSOA, Merman AU) will have a happy ending too.
Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you've written?
I've written a Witcher/Dragon Age crossover, Viper In Tall Grass, where Tristan is a witcher and Dorian a Nilfgardian mage which I thoroughly enjoyed! Also, one of the first long fics I ever finished was a Witcher/Wheel of Time crossover, which I think is genuinely the most... imaginative thing I've written 😂 I never posted it and don't think I will, but I still love it to bits and I'm super proud of myself for writing it.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Kind of? It wasn't directed at me personally (I don't think) but at one of the main characters of the fic. Perhaps it was referring to the way I'd written the particular character, I truly can't say, it was a little vague. It takes a lot to offend me, but this really rubbed me the wrong way. I honestly think I would have been less offended if the person had criticised my writing rather than the character lol. I just don't take any shit when it comes to the characters I love. They're PERFECT, okay? How dare you come into my house and badmouth them 😂 RUDE
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Hell YEAH! I love writing smut, it's great. As to what kind, I think that porn with feelings describes it really well. The smut I write tends to get emotional real quick, even when I intended for it to be straight up porn, so I guess there's no hope for me, hah.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, High-Flying Birds has been translated into Vietnamese.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes!! With oftachancer, two novel-length fics (Playground Love and Never Let Me Go), as well as a few other WIPs that haven't been posted yet, and I'm currently working on a multi-chap fic with my friendo @in-arlathan , featuring Dorian/Tristan and Solas with her Elenara Lavellan, which I'm so excited about! I've also brainstormed and goblined-out over a couple projects with @mogwaei !!  I love co-writing, it's so fun :)
What's your all time favourite ship?
Oooh, that's a tough one. I'm super biased in that the ships I love are those I write (both canon and OC pairings) but if you held a gun to my head and asked me to choose I would probably have to say... Dorian/Tristan and Achilles/Patroclus? AAH this is too hard ;w;
What's a WIP you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I do plan on finishing all of the WIPs I am currently working on. I have a lot of writing ideas that I don't think I'll ever get around to, but when I actually start writing something I tend to commit till the end.
What are your writing strengths?
Descriptions, introspection and angsty/emotional scenes I think are my favourite things to write. I also enjoy writing fight scenes a little too much (and judging by the feedback I receive on them people seem to enjoy them too, heh). Lastly, I've been told that the characters I write are complex and fleshed out and that my pacing is good, and that's honestly the best praise for me.
What are you writing weaknesses?
I struggle quite a lot with self doubt and perfectionism. I worry a lot about how my work will be perceived and whether it's good enough. I often agonise over small details or paragraphs/sentences, to the point where I sometimes post just so I stop myself from going back and editing indefinitely. I have thousands upon thousands of words in deleted scenes because "they weren't quite right" or I changed a tiny bit and the rest didn't fit. So. You get the idea 😅 (Now, how I manage to read through everything multiple times before posting yet still get typos... welp)
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Hmm, I have to say that I do like it when there are foreign words interspersed through the narrative if the story isn't set in an English speaking world or if the characters speak a different language, but I'm not a huuuge fan of seeing a big chunk of dialogue in a foreign language without immediate translation or a hovering text. It kind of breaks the immersion for me and I tend to avoid it generally in my own writing.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Dragon Age, and specifically DAI! That game never gets old for me.
What's your favourite fic you've written?
It's impossible for me to pick just one so I'm going to cheat and choose a few. I absolutely love my current WIPs: High-Flying Birds, Where Blood Roses Bloom and A World With You, and the freaking epic-length fics I've written with @oftachancer . They haven't always been easy to write (especially AWWY, which has the most intricate plot & character development) but I'm so proud of them and I've learned so much while writing them. Of my finished stories, The Stars Will Guide Us Home is hands down one of my all time faves. It had been on my mind for several months before I actually wrote it, and I poured so much of my heart into it. I still get emotional when I go back to reread it, not gonna lie! Lastly, At The Water's Edge (TSOA) is very dear to me and I often go back for rereads.
I'm tagging forth to (no pressure!): @fancytrinkets @elveny @glimmerofgold @asiriushoe @juliafied @boshtet-juggler @schattengerissen @dafan7711 @tessa1972 @fandomn00blr @pikapeppa and anyone else who would like to join!

Myarg!!! It’s been so long since I sent you an ask! 😫 So let me make up for it by hitting you with five questions from the end of the year fanfic ask thingy (really looking forward to seeing your answers to these):
1, 14, 18, 25, and 28
Thank you!!! 😄
Yayyy, thank you so much @boomerangguy!! I'm stoked to answer these!
1. favorite fic you wrote this year
This is such a good question! I'm gonna have to go with a tie between fumble around the failing stars (rated M!) and this is his body, this is his love (rated E!)
"fumble around the failing stars" was so fun for me to write. Like, to the point that I was actually making myself laugh out loud. And I'm so happy with my Kyoshi Warrior OCs and with the relationships I've built between them and Suki. Ultimately this was a really self-indulgent fic. I've always really loved, like, "gal pal" time in romance novels and rom coms, and I really wanted to create that for Suki, and I just had such a blast doing it. Plus, I think it's a neat take on "first time" stories, and it explores a not-so-perfect moment in Sokka and Suki's relationship, which is always an interesting dynamic to play with. :)
"this is his body, this is his love"...oh man...I worked so hard on that one lol. I actually think I overdid it a bit, but I'm still pleased with the outcome. I challenged myself a lot with this one. First of all, it's in present tense, which I never write in, but which felt necessary for the tone I was trying to create. I actually started it in past tense and then rewrote it in present tense, which is hard, y'all! And then, I was attempting to do something very specific with the imagery, trying to balance being very sensory while still creating a feeling of urgency, and for some reason, that was very difficult for me, too. I kept getting bogged down in details, or making the whole thing feel slow and lazy. Working on this fic was like chiseling through stone, haha. But ultimately I'm super happy I was able to wrangle it. Ask me sometime about how the imagery that I used to describe Suki shifts over the course of the fic. I've always wanted to talk about it. 😉
14. a fic you didn’t expect to write
hear the waves hit the cliffs (like our names engraved)
I have no idea where this one came from, lol. I wrote it for the "Ember Island" prompt for this year's Sukka Week, and, I mean...I have a ton of ideas in my head for Ember Island missing moments, but this was not one of them! All my ideas are very fluffy, romantic, Sokka and Suki making out on the beach kind of ideas. But this one came out all broody and introspective. 🤷‍♀️ It was a very cool experience writing this one, though. One of the only times I've ever sat down without knowing ahead of time where I wanted the story to go, just letting it materialize line-by-line. It was very zen!
18. current number of wips
Okay, only counting WIPs that I have an actual idea for and not docs I started that have a single sentence in them but no premise or anything... 9ish?
My main ones are "the words to keep you" and this post-war recovery fic I've been planning for a while. I also have a couple modern meet-cute ideas, a couple post-canon ideas, a couple missing moments from canon I wanna write, and a missing scene from "count herself among them" in the works. Oh, and that fic I'm writing to bribe you, Boomie, into finishing Courtship of the Earth. 😈
25. a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read
Other than everything you've written? 😉
I can never chose just one for these things! I recommended a bunch of fics in this answer and I am happy to share more!
First, those stories written in your skin by @krastbannert, definitely a fic everyone should read. It's Zuko-centric from Sokka's POV, and is a really cool take on what Zuko and his crew got up to during those three years Zuko was at sea chasing the Avatar. I love how Krast captures Sokka's voice, and I love all the seafaring lore and the depth it adds to ATLA universe. Sukka is implied, but it's not a Sukka-centric story.
Next, bruise belies the break by eleonorastay. This is a WIP and there's only one chapter so far, and I really hope it gets updated someday, because the way the stage has been set so far is very compelling. Everyone's personalities have been captured so well, and it seems so promising!
Between Victory by sukkavore is a wonderful little Sukka missing moment. I am a sucker for immediately-post-war stories, and this one packs so much into a relatively short scene.
And, something completely different because it's not even tangentially Sukka, although it is Water Tribe fam...This is Brutally Beautiful (So Are We) by @justanotherghostwriter. It's Kyakoda. It's canon. It's tragic. But it's beautiful. Everyone should read it.
28. longest fic you read this year
The longest fic I read this year was actually a Harry Potter fic called Lego House by accio_broom, at nearly 112k words. If anyone reading this likes Romione and has somehow managed not to read this fic yet, you absolutely must.
The longest ATLA fic I've read, though, is (My Heart) Still Beats for You by @smilindesperado, which is at 44k and counting.
Thank you so much for the ask!! Love hearing from you, as always. :) (Asks from this end of year fanfic ask list)
