One of the weirdest things about finding out you're traumatized/mentally ill/neurodivergent as an adult is looking back at all the very obvious signs in your childhood and realizing none of the adults responsible for you were paying attention

#it really is a mindfuck #like all of yall were really asleep at the wheel here #me: exhibiting very obvious symptoms of neurodivergence and mental and physical illnesses #ever parent teacher coach and other authority figure i interacted with: shes just Like That.#fun fact i when i was in elementary school starting in 2nd grade id have to walk to the front of the classroom and read a section of the #board at a time and then go back to my desk and copy it from memory because I couldn't see well enough from my seat and not a single #teacher said or did anything about it until i was in fifth grade. guess who needed glasses.#like they didn't even ask they just let that happen until my fifth grade teacher was like. what are you doing. and i told her i couldn't #read the writing from two rows back and she told me to tell my mom i needed glasses #anyways ms. [redacted] you're the only valid mfer in this place #not even gonna get into the number of coaches who called me lazy or out of shape in middle/high school (even though i was playing multiple #sports a year) when i told them i couldn't breathe after running for only a minute or two. guess who has sports asthma.#maybe this is just being the middle child but like of you're not going to pay attention to me can u at least not immediately call me a liar #when i say something's wrong maybe #those aren't even mental/neurological those are very obvious and easily demonstrated physical issues and you STILL didn't say anything #not even gonna get into all the very obvious signs of mental illness and neurodivergence

#FUCK IT MY OWN EDITION OF THE ODDLY SPECIFIC POLLS BC THESE ARE FUN #me when i've been obsessed with space/time stuff since i was a KID its more an interest than hyperfixation rn but man.#media with any of those?? i am OBSESSED (star wars rottmnt movie etc etc) like i hyperfixated on dr who for a year in middle school #the skateboard one is so funny. in high school my guard instructor saw me with a friend's pennyboard & immediately said no.#me when i was notoriously clumsy in middle + high school so everyone i knew was like. “this is a bad idea” when i did anything #my first semester of college i bought a longboard off someone then 5months later i turned around & ate SHIT it was so funny in retrospect #anyway fun sage lore i have only ever heavily injured the left side of my body. my knee + elbow and the SAME FUCKING TOOTH. TWICE.#also i have a high pain tolerance. like idk how or when but in middle school it just got Really Strong. me when i injure myself and just #live with it for a year before it becomes a concern and i get told to get an xray (i will live with a fractured knee the rest of my life)#also when i fell off my skateboard and ate shit my first concern was “ah fuck my glasses did i break my nose” and #“nah my elbow isnt broken! my arm is just rly sore from how i landed on it” (readers. it was in fact fractured.)#like i literally went “no im fine we dont need to tell my mom or go to the er” and my friends said “call your mom and go to the er”#me spitting out my tooth and blood bc i also busted my lip: that hurt. time to hobble back to my dorm.#anyway hiding this one in the tags bc i will never not just ignore my issues LMAO did it with my ptsd dx and i will continue to do it #another incredibly hyperspecific thing: oh this doesnt seem normal! im gonna ignore it and hope it goes away #these symptoms match up to something? nah i'm sure it's not that! All of my siblings are amazing at art, don’t even need to try. But I can sing and dance. Hell, I made the highest choir that a freshman could get into back in high school choir tryouts, and then in my second year I was in the highest choir + I tried out for a “show choir” (which was singing and dancing, only 10 - 12 girls could get in and only 2nd highest and highest choir girls can try out) and made that as well.

Meanwhile, Duck’s amazing at art and their siblings are good at singing...

#for me...singing has always been a passion #fun fact apparently when i was like 3/4 years old #and i dont remember this very well but i do have lil flashes of memory but my mom confirmed it with me #but apparently when i was little i actually memorized all of the disney princesses songs and could sing them from memory #could do just the right tempo and everything #i know i would pretend my stuffed animals were the ones singing and not me #but my mom said she would hear me from the kitchen when i was in my room and she said she had no idea how i was able to do that #when i couldnt even count to fucking 50 without messing up #even now i just have to hear a song once and i can get the tempo and rhythm perfectly and it only takes me a few times to hear a song to #*memorize lyrics #oh yeah i also memorized all of barbie princess and the pauper songs too #barbie and disney are why i loved practicing high notes :)#i was a soprano 1 :)#one time in my freshman HS choir class when we were sight reading we had a RLLY HIGH key to sing and the sopranos got a bit quiet but i kept #going. my instructor walked over and was like ''who was that. who sang that.'' and my pal and a few other girls pointed at me #and she looked at me and went ''(lisi). please sing that section for us.''#i nearly fucking died on the spot i could feel my face heating up #also i had like 4 solos throughout my choir days from middle to high school :)#i forgot the point of this post uh

#you can literally hear me laughing at how dumb I sound while I’m sniffling my way through the bridge and final verse lol please end me #okay so FIRST OF ALL it is a difficult song to sing without sounding like you are in middle school and straining at your lung capacity #SECOND OF ALL when you are 25 and depressed and trying VERY HARD to have a good relationship with your mother #WHILE YOU ARE BOTH THE EMOTIONAL PUNCHING BAGS OF THE MEN OF THE FAMILY #and then suddenly the end of the song brings in your father and brother and you have to say nice things about them…#difficult!#ANYWHORE I did another recording and I sounded fine and it is now sitting in my mother’s inbox for when she wakes up for work 💅🏻#because she picked this song (and Never Grow Up) as her two favorites and she said a while ago that she misses me singing in the shower #now I go back to flouncing on my bed and dungeon crawling because! fun fact!#I have not had voice lessons in almost ten years and my voice is a little shot from smoking and also Being Loud At Work #so even though I did some warm ups! holy fuck doing an hour straight of recording NGU and TBD until I was pleased with the results… yowch #how the FUCK was I a chorus kid every day for like 8 years #my stuff

the fact that new moon was the first twilight movie I ever saw is actually so funny because I fully thought new moon was the first movie and was just…perplexed at people fawning over Edward. Like within 20 minutes of meeting him he leaves Bella alone in the forest and then is very absent from the film I was just…not vibing with this man

Also one of the only things I remembered from that first viewing was the movie theater scene and the part where sweet baby Jacob morphs into “I’m gonna punch your face off” and I was simultaneously confused and impressed with the screenwriters’ refusal to spoonfeed the audience any context whatsoever

#also I watched the rest of the saga before watching the first movie #deadass I was sitting there like Oh a new character Oh a new character Oh a new—#and being kind of impressed with how casually the movie treated it #like oh yeah here’s a new person (they’re not new actually you just didn’t watch the movie where they were introduced)#BUT ACTUALLY another fun fact!!! the first SCENE of twilight I ever saw #was the scene where Jacob shows up at Bella’s wedding #and middle school me was Feeling Emotions #and that scene combined with new moon had me convinced that the series was gonna be a lot better than it ended up being #me staring at Jacob and Bella slow dance as distant music and laughter from her OWN WEDDING can be heard—#the part where he picked her up and swung her around STUCK in my little brain

Oh look. I spent almost three days reading up on gender in the Middle Ages, seems like this was already too much academia for my brain, so I just got treated to a nice school-related nightmare.

#fuck school #and I say it with all my heart #FUCK THEM #I just want to read about crossdressing saints in peace #is that too much to ask???#I was really having fun too #and will again once I get back on track #just right now I'm a bit done and want to complain #see THIS is why I can't even imagine going into acedemics #this shit right here #I would be fairly good at it #something like social sciences or litterature or whatever #BUT I'M STILL TOO TRAUMATIZED FROM FUCKING SCHOOL #just the idea of going in a similar environment freaks me out #plus I have some serious complexes about feeling as if I'd been actively excluded #it took me literal YEARS to be able to read about Middle-Ages related stuff #it's a miracle that I got through film school without any major problems if you think about it #probably the magic power of a Special Interest #combined with the fact that it was very praxis-oriented #and different enough from 'normal' school #but yeah #anyway #this reminded me that ten years ago I was in the middle of a depressive phase #that made it completely impossible to see more than two days into the future #so compared to that...#we're getting there #personal #trauma
