The name's Ink, guardian of the AU multiverse, artistic mess as any artist would, you got a question? I might have an answer, or a doodle, or both! Depends on how much "color" I've had left to use, shi expensive nowadays, yk?
─────────────────────
## 🎨🖌️ RULES & INFO
(Please read before asking!)
📌 This is an RP Ink!sans ask blog
None of the answers will be canon, just for fun, Ink belongs to @comyet / @myebi and this is Disney Channel (joke)
Anygays, I'm a human behind the character, I always wanted an ask Ink!sans blog to be silly and joke around, but in the end I had to become one... this was my DESTINY (silly)
I hope you can have as much FUN as I want to, btw if comyet/myebi tell me to close the blog at some point I will <3
### ✅ YEEEAAAHHH
Ask about AUs, feelings, lore, headcanons, etc
Be silly, serious, or somewhere in between
Roleplay style asks (in character)
Light shipping/headcanon asks are okay
Please let me know when you are in character like /ic = in character ;)
### 🚫 NOOOOOO...
No NSFW or overly suggestive content
No hate, harassment, or offensive questions
No spamming please

Let's be aware and kind to each other, let's make this something fun! (with boundaries)
─────────────────────
##💥 ABOUT INK!SANS
I'll try to make a Ink!sans with lowkey the personality created by comyet, with some of my own characterization too (maybe I'll make a post about that later)
Ink's personality is in Comyet's post talking about him, I'll leave the direct link and some facts to have in mind from her post too
He’s a mischief-maker. Pranks are his guilty pleasure.
Ink in general acts wittily and provocatively.
With him hardly having a proper social understanding, he’s blunt in his teasing and mocking just like in his ability to give support and to be kind.
I'll try to characterize him in a way that he can sometimes be quite bad at noticing/using his own words, so you know he's not being mean, he's just, Ink (you can also add in your ask to him to be "nice" at you to make him think more in his words for you)
─────────────────────
## 👤 HEY THIS IS ME
SO okay, I'm 19 years old but as I said the blog is for sfw and funsies, so please don't be weird with me or the character
Also the asks will be in random order (Ink is the one who choose them) and take their time as my emotional roller coaster and own duties of life and art inspiration!!
I speak Español and English but we will focus on Eng for now (You can ask in Esp too, but I will answer in Eng), if the questions are closed it is because they are not being taken or there are too many, I hope you understand <3
─────────────────────

### So go ahead! Drop a question, share a drawing or whatever you want, let's be kind to eachother and have a LOOOOT OF FUN and some Ink too!!

Hi sorry to bother you, but can you please make a part 2 of the courting fic where the prefect realizes what they were trying to say and "un-rejects" them?
Love your writing, keep up the good work!!
So happy to see people on the same page as me here, because I wrote the fic right before going to bed and my immediate thoughts were (I feel so bad so themm... wait but they're also being kinda stupid shit GUYS LOCK IN)
Anyways Part Twooo to this fic let's gooo! Featuring them getting a taste of their own medicine because I thought they deserved it (affectionate)
Cultural Exchange
—"You could have just said you liked me."
Characters: Leona, Ruggie, Floyd, Azul (same as in the first fic)
Notes: Let me I tell you I had wayy too much fun writing the little intro for each section I thought I was sooo clever didn't I
Leona:
—Humans are known to give flowers to their objects of affection. Bouquets, particularly those containing roses, are a common gift given to someone a human wishes to date.
Your phone, you noticed, was already open. A google page laid in front of you. Did Leona try to look something up and forget to close it? No, as slothful as he seemed, being careless like this just wasn't in his character.
But the phone was opened to-
Lion beastman courtship rituals.
The page stared you in the face, daring you to read.
"Lion beastmen," it said. "Have extended courting rituals. They stake out their desired mate and spend time building relations."
Wait. Those weeks the two of you had spent together...
"When the time is right, beastmen will often roar to declare their intent. They show desire by pawing, nuzzling, and-"
He'd roared beforehand, hands all over you.
"Biting."
Goddamnit you just fumbled Leona Kingscholar.
You wanted to crawl into a hole. You wanted to apologize. And you kind of wanted to yell at him for not just saying that like a normal person when you asked what was going on.
But that would have to wait for another time.
For now, you'd have to find some way to make it clear you returned his interests.
Flowers. Everyone, boy or girl, old or young, broke prefect or genius lion prince, could probably appreciate a nice bouquet.
So you stopped by Heartslabyul and the Seven themselves or whatever the deities of this world were must have been smiling down upon you, because they had a bunch of extra roses from some growth spell mishap they needed to get rid of.
"Good luck with your boyfriend," Ace had said, snickering.
So here you were. Outside of the Savannaclaw common room, a bouquet of flowers in hand.
"You gonna eat that?" Ruggie, standing in front of you, looking at the flowers scrutinizingly. Noticing the expression on your face though, he just laughed. "Jeez, I'm just joking with ya! I can get my own food. Maan, you're so dense... shishishi, no wonder Leona-san's obvious signs went right over your head!"
Speaking of Leona-
"Can you take me to him?" You asked, and Ruggie nodded.
"'Bout time. Leona-san's been in a mood since you shot him down." You didn't shoot him down, you just asked what he was talking about! "He's been sulkin' all day."
You had a feeling Ruggie was just saying that to embarrass him.
"But anyways, come on! The sooner you lovebirds kiss and make up, the better."
The door to Leona's room was locked. But Ruggie just pulled a hairpin, fiddled with it, and-
Of course he picked the lock.
"Your mate, Leona-san!"
"The herbivore's not-"
And Ruggie was gone. Just you and him now.
Leona stared at you from where he was lounging in his bed, tail flicking expectantly.
"You saw it, right?" He asked, voice deceptively impassive. You nodded.
"This all would've been a lot easier if you just explained what you meant. "I mean..."
You pulled the small bouquet of roses from behind your back.
Leona just stared, confused.
"Are you- callin' me an herbivore or something?" He asked. "You tryin' to say I'm fragile like the flowers?"
What.
He had the gall to expect you to understand these lion mating rituals or whatever, and he couldn't even understand what flowers meant?
"Lighten up, herbivore, I'm just jokin' with you," he said, taking the bouquet. "I do my research."
Unlike you was left unsaid.
"I really am sorry Leona-san," you said. "But how was I supposed to know you biting me was a mating ritual?"
"Well, it's more obvious than flowers," he huffed. You had to disagree, but since he was following your, uh, 'courting rituals'...
"I guess I should return the favor," you said, grabbing his arm. His face flushed ever so slightly, barely noticeable on that tanned skin of his.
And then you bit. He stared, shocked. But not the good kind.
"That," he said. "Was the weakest bite I've ever seen?"
"Huh?"
"You really are an herbivore," he said, before putting his head on your lap. "I'm going to sleep."
His tail flickered contentedly, though.
Cute.
Ruggie Bucchi:
—Humans give food items to their prospective mate, particularly sweet items with either a heart-shape or a heart-shape container. To highlight their affections, the sweet items are often made by hand.
Ruggie had been avoiding you. It was clear as day.
The excited little "Morning, Kantokusei-kun!" whenever he saw you had turned into a chorus of excuses about Leona calling for him and whatnot. His constant visits to your room had all but vanished.
You were getting fed up with it. What did you do? Did you accidentally eat his donut or something?
It all came to a head when you bumped into Leona in the greenhouse.
"Hey, herbivore," he said. There was something almost unnerving about the calm in his voice, the way he scrutinized you like he was picking apart the very fiber of your being.
After a while, though, he laughed.
"Ruggie's got himself up in a twist over nothing," he said.
"Um, what?"
"You," he said. "Do you know," he trailed off. "What hyena beastmen do—"
"—When they find someone they want to mate?"
Where did this come from?
"The guys do this thing," he continued. "Step forward and step away. Then they cross their legs and present their scent."
Oh.
He'd crossed his legs, telling you to join him on the bed...
"Seem familiar?" Leona said, a languid grin. "Good. Now clear this whole thing up. Ruggie's being a pain."
You accidentally rejected him! Goddamnit!
Well, if he'd just been a little more clear, you wouldn't've-!
Whatever. You needed to make it clear you liked him back, you supposed.
And what did you do when you liked someone? Make them chocolates! Heart-shaped ones for good measure. Plus, Ruggie liked food gifts, so that seemed like something he'd appreciate.
So you got to it. Made your chocolates, and off to Savannaclaw you went.
You knocked on the door. Once. Twice. Thrice.
Maybe he wasn't there?
But no; you heard a muffled yelp, from none other than him.
He wanted to hide. Unfortunately for him, in the time of your friendship, you'd long since learned how to copy his lock-picking technique.
Hairpin in the lock. Another one to serve as a tension wrench. And with a little bit of fiddling...
The door was open. Ruggie was staring at you, eyes blown wide.
"Hey, uh, pal!" He said, opening the window. "It looks like Leona-san needs another tonkatsu sandwich, and-"
"I'm sorry," you said, rushing to block the window before he could jump out of it. Well, hopefully that wasn't actually what he was planning, but you could never be too sure. "I mean, you were being really really vague, so honestly it was kinda your fault, but I- you know-"
You sighed.
"Just take this," you said, shoving the box of chocolates in his hands. "This should tell you how I feel."
You didn't know how you expected Ruggie to respond, maybe eat the chocolates happily, maybe say something about the changed nature of your relationship—
But you didn't expect him to stare at the chocolate like it personally offended him.
"What's this supposed to mean?" He asked. "You tryin' to butter me up so I owe you later or somethin'?"
What. What was he talking about. What was going on in his head when he said that.
"They're- They're heart-shaped chocolates," you said. "Do you- not feel the same way anymore or something?"
Ruggie stared at you like you'd just said the sky was green.
"Heart-shaped-" he stared at the chocolates. "Wait, m so iss this like- uh- it could be- you givin' me your heart-"
You saw the moment the puzzle pieces clicked together in his head. He probably didn't have the completely right idea, but eh, good enough. His face went bright red.
"You, shishi, didn't have to- go all this way, y'know," he said. "Not that I'm conplainin'."
He popped one into his mouth, and you could tell he liked it from the way his face brightened.
"Good?" You asked, and he just shoved the uneaten half of the chocolate into your mouth in response, the imprint of his sharp canines clear as day.
You chewed for a few seconds. It really was good. But more importantly...
"That was an indirect kiss, y'know."
"Indi-what?"
"Indirect kiss. Your lips and my lips touched the same thing."
"Talk about weird," he said. "Sharin' food like that's completely normal!"
And then, popping another chocolate into his mouth, he continued:
"Can't you humans just sniff each other like any normal person?"
Floyd Leech:
—Humans will often use humorous expressions of desire with prospective mates in order to gauge interest. These are known as "pick-up lines".
Floyd had been avoiding you all week now. You had absolutely no clue what you did. Was he really that upset you'd told him to just be honest if he was bored with your rambling?
But still, the fact remained that he was avoidant, and just generally in an awful mood. Maybe something else had happened? Maybe it was just a mood?
Your question was answered when Jade cornered you after school, a toothy smile that most certainly didn't reach his eyes.
"I hear you've had quite the spat with my brother, Prefect," he said. "I understand that you may not return his feelings, but I would advise you to apologize for your harsh words. My brother is not, as you insinuate, the sort to court another so casually."
Wait.
Court?
"What do you mean, 'court'?" You asked. "I was talking, he started yawning, he asked me to dance out of nowhere, and then he got angry and left. Simple as that. Where do you see courting?"
The gear seemed to turn in his head for a while, before realization dawned upon him, mouth widening into a little 'o'.
"Prefect," he said. "Are you aware that moray eels open their mouths wide as a sign of desire?
"Huh?"
"When a moray eels sees a prospective mate," Jade re-iterated. "They open their mouths. And as a finalization, they perform a mating dance."
Mouth opened wide... Mating dance...
"Holy shit," you said. Jade just stared at you, still slightly threatening.
"You're telling me he was trying to tell me he liked me and I pretty much called him a fuckboy."
Jade nodded.
"Indeed, you did."
You could only sigh, long and low.
"Damnit."
"I do suggest you, ah, clear the air," Jade said, though his tone made it clear this was more of a demand. "Make it clear to him what I realized."
"Yeah, yeah." You still thought he should've just told you what he wanted.
Jade nodded, satisfied.
"Then I'll be leaving," he said. But before he left, he turned back, for just a split second.
"Prefect?"
"Yeah?"
"My brother and I both lack very little in terms of comfort," he said. "So I think you'll find that actions and words shall both speak louder than any bribes you attempt to bring."
And with that cryptically delivered piece of advice, Jade was gone.
You got to work. No point in making something, you recalled. Best to just bring yourself and your own sincerity.
Floyd was near impossible to track down. You really thought you deserved points just for doing that. He really put you through the wringer, after all.
"Floyd!" you said at last, trying your best to stay calm as he scowled. "I have something to say."
"I don't wanna hear it."
"You- You do!" You said. "Listen, I know you're annoyed because I called you a playboy, but have you ever considered-"
"Shut up."
"-That it was actually your fault for being really really vague while also managing to misunderstand me in the worst way possible?"
Floyd looked like he wanted to snap your neck. He also looked intrigued, though, which was a good sign.
"What're you saying?"
"I'm saying that I didn't know you were trying to tell me you liked me!" You said. "I mean, you looked like you were yawning, and I don't know jackshit about moray rituals, so what the hell was I supposed to think? All I know is—I'm talking, you're yawning, and suddenly you want to dance. Of course I'm going to think you're bored!"
Floyd stared at you for a few seconds.
And then he burst out laughing.
"F-Floyd?!"
"Eheh, you're so stupid sometimes, Koebi-chan!" Very nice. "But you've got some guts for a shrimpy. Maan, I remember why I like you so much now."
In an instant, he was back to his typical, lackadaisical mood.
"Use your head a little more next time, alright? I really thought you were trying to say I was some flaky little guppy," he said. You shook your head vehemently, pushing down your urge to tell him that he was the one being ridiculously vague.
"No, I know you're not like that, I mean- I like you too!" Now what. "Uh- Uh-"
"You know, Floyd," you said. "They say the tongue is the strongest muscle."
Now, he just looked confused.
"It's not. When it comes to strength by size, the masseter-"
"So," you said. "Wanna wrestle?"
He narrowed his eyes.
"Tongue-wrestling would be boring. Why're you even bringin' wrestling up right now? Lame."
Did- Did he seriously not get it?
"Our tongues should wrestle," you re-iterated. He shook his head.
"How'd you even do somethin' like that?" he asked. "Just, like, put your lips together-"
You didn't even have time to realize when it all clicked for him because he grabbed you.
"Changed my mind. I wanna tongue-wrestle with you, Koebi-Chan!"
"And you were calling me the oblivious one?"
Azul:
—Humans will often initiate contact between their lips and the lips of a prospective mate, a phenomenon known as "kissing". When done for an extended period of time, this is called "making out".
Azul did not act particularly different.
But you could tell he was upset. It was written all over the slight strain of his saccharine smile, the way he laid it on just a little bit too thick when he attempted to ingratiate himself to you, and the slight bags under his eyes—a sign he was overworking himself in an attempt to distract from his problems.
Yep. He was definitely upset.
And of course, inevitably, the twins cornered you.
"You did somethin' weird to Azul," Floyd said, glaring at you. "Fix it or I'll squeeze ya."
Jade snickered from behind him.
Of course. Welp, you had absolutely no clue what you did, sooo...
"Is this because I offered to take him to the Doctor's office when his arm kept changing color?" you asked. "Seriously, I knew he didn't like getting help, but- ugh, isn't that too far!"
"Why'd you do that?" Floyd said. "Man, Koebi-Chan really is mean, tellin' Azul he's sick for wantin' to make you his mate."
"What does changing color have to do with, uh, mates?"
Floyd looked like he didn't know whether to laugh or slap you.
"You do know a little octopus like Azul changes color because he wants to be your mate, right?"
...
That couldn't be. That just- it-
"Indeed," said Jade. "Octopi will also often grab their prospective mate from behind."
His arm was changing color. He'd grabbed you from behind.
"Goddamnit," you said. Couldn't he have been a little more specific?!
That was it. You were not dealing with this stupid misunderstanding any longer! This stupid, insanely intelligent, oblivious octopus was going to know you liked him!
You stomped away.
"Where're you going, Koebi-chan?"
"Oya, going somewhere, Perfect?"
"Clearing the air," you said. That seemed to be an answer they approved.
"Actions speak louder than wor-"
"I know."
You cut off Jade's attempt at delivering cryptic advice before storming over to the VIP Room. There was Azul, working on some contract or the like.
"Azul."
"You're not allowed to be in here, you know. There's quite a hefty fee."
"Azul."
"Yes?" He looked up, looking entirely unhappy to see you.
"I didn't realize that thing you were going last week was a part of octopus courtship, you know," you said. "You really should've told me."
"What are you-"
"Let me show you a human courtship ritual to set things straight."
And you kissed him. It was not the sort of kiss that I initiated fireworks, nor was it anything like the novels you'd read. In fact, it was an exceptionally awkward kiss, because Azul was an awful kisser. You didn't entirely mind, though, it was cute.
You both had to pull away because Azul was out of breath, gasping and wheezing like he'd been made to run a mile for P.E.
"Does that make my feelings clear?" You said. He just huffed, looking firmly at his contract.
"I- suppose we can work something out..." He muttered, gesturing to the chair across from him. "Why don't you take a seat?"
The offer seemed simple, but the truth of it was clear.
He was considering that relationship.
So you sat, enjoying the contented silence and the resolved misunderstanding. But there was one thing you had to get off your chest.
"You know, it's insane how bad you suck at kissing."
"Shut it."

Being Human
Derek knows humans are fragile in comparison to wolves. He did have human siblings after all and his mother drilled their vulnerability into him since he was old enough to understand. He knows he has to be gentle around them, knows they are weaker and prone to sickness. Consciously he knows this, but he isn't at all prepared for when Stiles—the only human in the pack—is hurt.
Actually hurt.
Gasping, crying, arms shaking in pain hurt.
He doesn't know what the fuck to do. Because they're alone, trapped, and he can smell the wrongness coming off the human. He can hear his heartbeat fluctuating from weak to sporadic and the sweat and blood and scent of fear blankets the enclosed space so profoundly he thinks he's going to suffocate off the smell.
He siphons away whatever he can but there's still too much. It's barely a bandage over an open artery, like trying to put out a fire with an eyedropper. Even with him pulling away most of the pain the infection has already spread. Every gasping breath and rattling cough has Derek's body twitching in panic.
Human.
The word is a curse, a defect in his world. If Stiles were a wolf he could re-brake and heal the broken rib digging into his lung. The gash on his side would have slowed in it's bleeding if not stopped all together. If he were a wolf there would be no infection or sickness or bloody nose. The bite is a gift.
Derek doesn't know what to do with the frail, weakened human laying with his head on his thigh. He can't even think through the dread and worry and helplessness. Stiles curls in on himself, leans into the hand that is trying to staunch the blood and pull away the pain.
"Not quite how I imagined things would go when I daydreamed about my face down in your lap Sourwolf..." He jokes. Derek almost wants to shake him for it. Stiles is dying and he's joking.
"Don't talk. The pack should be here soon."
"N-Not talk? Have you met me? I'm alone in the dark with Beacon Hill's most eligible grump and you expect me not to make a sex joke?"
"Stiles!" Derek growls and then stops when he hears the awful whistling sound coming from his chest.
"I'm fine. Just a little fever..." Derek wishes it were just a little fever. Wishes he knew the difference between a little fever and this. He doesn't remember his baby sister feeling this warm when his mother said she was sick. He doesn't really remember much of the younger ones... the human ones. Maybe he'd be more helpful if he did...
"Stop it." Stiles chastise. "You keep frowning like that and you're eyebrows will grow together." Derek hates that he does this... Hates that he's the one in pain and he's still trying to lighten Derek's mood. Hates that he's smiling at him through a grimace, that he's looking at him like he's worth something when he knows he isn't.
"I'm okay Der." Stiles says gently. "You k-know you can't actually get rid of me right? I've sorta got a pool going with the pack. How long it'll take till I can get you to say you love me. It's gotta be unironically of course. Lydia's rules." Derek feels his heartbeat tick up at that and Stiles smiles. "I say this year, Scott gave you three. But I know I'm your favorite so it shouldn't be hard."
"Stop moving." He begs when Stiles turns onto his back to look up at him.
"Better view."
"Stiles!" Stubborn! Humans were stubborn. Weak and frail and as stubborn as they came.
"You're beautiful." Stiles murmurs and Derek feels his breath catch in his throat. "Maybe that's wrong to say to a guy huh? But like, I always thought it. Y-Your eyes. I like looking at them. Even when you go all grumpy and broody and flash red at me, they're still beautiful."
Derek feels Stiles' body shake with another jolt of pain and maybe, he's the one crying now. "You gotta promise me something Der, okay? P-Please. You gotta take care of my dad."
"Don't-"
"Would you just listen? I love Scott, I trust him with my life. He's my brother when it comes down to it but he's pretty freaking useless when he's got a new girlfriend with him and dad's going to be bad for a while. He'll drink. A lot... or worse he'll just jump head first into any job they throw at him. P-Please just watch over him for me?." Derek feels himself nodding and Stiles' pained smile widens.
"You know you've always been my alpha right?" Derek startles at that. "Like I said, I love Scott and I love the pack. I'd do anything for any one of you but... since the beginning. Since the start, you've always been my alpha."
"Stiles-"
"Just take care of dad. Scott will be okay, Lydia might need you more than she lets on. And Isaac says he doesn't want anything to do with you but it's not true. I-It's not. If anything he wants you to be proud of him. So call him okay? He'd be on the next flight home, he'd be back here at your side the second he sees your name light up. He kept the same number. Explain it to him. Tell him why you sent him away. N-Not for you, for him. He thinks you hate him, don't let him think it anymore."
Derek can't understand. Can't begin to make sense of this human. This small, 145 pound, eighteen year old looking up at him with all the tranquility and calmness of a condemned man. He's no longer scared. Fear has been replaced with a sense of serenity and its worse! Far worse than the terror. Derek presses harder onto the bleeding wound, chokes on the sob that wants to wrench it's way out of his throat when he hears it... The low howl a mile off.
He covers Stiles' ears and howls back, feeling relief and hope and looking at those confused brown eyes that haven't stopped watching him since they ended up in this hell hole.
"D-Der?"
"I love you." He says, because he does. Because he's never not cared for this ridiculous human being. He had been his headache, his friend, his anchor... The one who has protected him, saved him, given him a family when he never thought he deserved it. The resilient, caring little human that looked at him like he meant something. Like he was worthy of meaning something.
Resilient and stubborn and caring and selfless and fragile... And Derek wishes he were half the human Stiles is.

˗ˏˋ karaoke night ˎˊ˗

"Vanilla extract has always been his lifeline, and tonight is no different."
next | index
⋆。°✩ chapter details ✩°。⋆
word count: 11k
content: friendly drunkness, karaoke, lowkey interest, girl talk, unwanted appearances, trauma responses, isolation, unhealthy coping mechanisms, vulnerability, sneak peeks, soft, lowkey real conversations, subtle references to the past.
✧ author's note ✧
OKAY. Let me just start by screaming into the void real quick: SIX. HUNDRED. NOTES. And TWO HUNDRED VOTES. IN LESS THAN FORTY-EIGHT HOURS?? What the actual hell is wrong with you people??? I'm genuinely flabbergasted. Bamboozled. Reeling. I thought I had time. I thought I could chill. But NO. Y’all are CRACKED and now I’m upping the goal like an absolute psychopath because clearly you’re fiends and I am merely your supplier. I’ll give you your fix, don’t worry. Just know I’m running out of backlogged chapters and my therapist is gonna hear about it.
Anyway.
This chapter. Hoo boy. This chapter feels like the emotional hangover after a wild night—the kind where everything feels a little too raw, a little too exposed, and you’re left trying to piece together what the fuck happened between the yelling and the tequila. There's a reason why I framed it this way, too—because this is the shift. The oh shit, real people have real pasts and they bleed sometimes moment. The façade cracks here, and it does so in ways that are deliberately uncomfortable.
Jungkook is so many things in this chapter, but most importantly, he’s small. And I don’t mean that physically. I mean small like a kid trying to crawl into his own skin. That rooftop scene? I wanted you to feel the stillness after the storm, the weird quiet that happens when someone you thought was bulletproof shows up vulnerable and unguarded for once. And it’s messy. He doesn’t have answers. He doesn’t give you the sob story, not yet. He gives you glimpses. Vanilla extract, deflections, silence. All of it is by design.
(Also yes, the vanilla extract thing is a metaphor. Yes, I know it’s weird. No, I won’t elaborate. Just know it’s real and kind of tragic and also weirdly endearing. Like him.)
And Y/N… god. She’s tiptoeing the line so hard here. Because she wants to help and she wants to understand and she also very much wants to not feel. But she does. And she hates it. And she jokes because otherwise she’ll unravel. And that’s what makes this chapter so bittersweet to me—because they’re both posturing like they’re fine, but their actions betray them. Their quiet kindness, the subtle care. The intimacy isn’t in the sex anymore. It’s in the stillness. In the scent memory. In the way he says “you smell like vanilla” like it’s the only anchor he has left.
And let’s not even talk about Mia because that woman is the human embodiment of a champagne cork to the eye. I will simply say this: trauma is not always loud. Sometimes it’s a whisper that sticks to your ribs. Sometimes it’s someone’s name.
Anyway.
This chapter is long, chaotic, unfiltered, and possibly one of the most emotionally raw things I’ve written for this fic so far. So please take care of yourself while reading. You don’t have to romanticize brokenness. You don’t have to love these characters for their damage. But you can hold space for them. Just like they’re learning to do for each other.
Also Taehyung deserves a nap and a raise for his emotional labor.
As always, I’m deeply grateful you’re here, crying and laughing and spiraling with me. Keep being feral in the comments. Keep voting if it makes your little goblin brain happy. And maybe—just maybe—hug your own Jungkook if you’ve got one.
Or your therapist.
They deserve it.

Tequila makes you do stupid shit, like hugging people you normally avoid touching with a ten-foot pole.
You practically launch yourself from your seat, the room tilting at an alarming angle as you throw your arms around Yeji's neck.
"Holy shit," she laughs, body stiffening with surprise before awkwardly patting your back. "Okay, this is literally the first hug you've ever given me and I don't know how to feel about it."
You ignore her, already detaching yourself and stumbling toward Irya, who catches you with more grace, giggling as you nearly topple both of you over.
"Hi to you too," she says, squeezing back gently.
Jimin is next, accepting your clumsy attempt at physical affection with the patient tolerance of someone used to dealing with drunk friends. He pats your back, concern etched in his features.
"How are you doing?" he asks, holding you at arm's length to study your face.
You flash him a thumbs up, swaying slightly on your feet. "Absofuckinglutely amazing."
"Okay, yeah. No." He shakes his head, exchanging a knowing look with Yeji.
"Why are you guys even here?!" The question bursts out louder than you intended, making several heads turn.
Yeji shrugs, all casual nonchalance. "This is a famous ramen place. Irya's been wanting to come for a long time."
"Guilty!" Irya raises her hand with a sheepish smile.
"And Jimin was like a lost puppy, so we just kind of adopted him," Yeji adds, nodding toward him.
Irya shoves Yeji's shoulder. "No, actually, I was studying with Jimin, and Yeji just came in and was like 'yo, let's have spicy ramen!' And we kinda rolled with it."
You snort, turning around to find the entire table watching this interaction with varying degrees of amusement.
Jungkook has his hand pressed against his mouth, shoulders shaking with barely contained laughter.
You mouth 'die' at him, and he throws his palms up in mock surrender, the bastard.
"Well..." You gesture vaguely, suddenly realizing you need to perform introductions. "These are my friends."
The words feel strange on your tongue—not because they're untrue, but because saying them out loud makes them real in a way you weren't prepared for.
"Yeji, Irya, and Jimin," you continue, pointing at each one. "And this is... um..."
Your alcohol-soaked brain struggles to remember the names of all the people around this table. There's Yoongi, obviously, and Taehyung, and Hobi, and... the others. The gaming nerds. And Tessa. And that other girl who judged your ramen choice.
You wave your hand in a circle, encompassing the whole table. "Jungkook's birthday squad."
Awkwardness settles over you as you realize the predicament. Your friends are here, but it's not like you can just abandon Jungkook's party to join them. That would be rude. And weird. And probably not what a good roommate would do.
Not that you care about being a good roommate. But still. Principle of the thing or whatever.
Before the silence can stretch too long, Yeji speaks up. "We were heading to the karaoke place that's like five minutes from here, if y'all want to come?"
All eyes shift to Jungkook, the birthday boy, the decision-maker.
But instead of looking at his friends, he looks at you first.
You look back at him, a silent question passing between you.
Then he smiles—not his usual smirk, but something softer, more genuine—and turns to Yeji.
“Sure, absolutely. Count us in."
“Hell yes!” Hobi exclaims, clapping his hands together. “I’ve been waiting for an excuse to show off my pipes!”
“God help us all,” Taehyung mutters, but he’s already standing, clearly on board with the plan.
“What about the bill?” Diana asks, glancing around at the mess of empty glasses and half-finished food.
“Already covered,” Yoongi says, holding up his phone to show a payment confirmation. “Birthday gift.”
“You paid for all of this?” You blink at him, genuinely surprised. “That’s… actually really nice, Yoongi.”
He shrugs, looking vaguely uncomfortable with the acknowledgment. “Whatever. It’s not a big deal.”
“It kind of is,” you insist, the alcohol making you more earnest than usual. “You’re a good friend.”
He gives you a look that clearly says ‘please stop talking now,’ so you do, but not before patting his shoulder in what you hope is a comradely fashion.
The group begins gathering their things, a chaotic shuffle of jackets and phones and forgotten scarves. You stand in the middle of it all, suddenly aware of how drunk you actually are as the room tilts alarmingly when you try to take a step.
“Whoa there,” a voice says near your ear, and then there’s a hand at your elbow, steadying you.
Jungkook.
“You good?”
“Fine,” you say automatically, then reconsider. “Okay, maybe not fine. But I’m upright, so that’s something.”
“A low bar, but I respect it.” His tone is light, teasing, but there’s something else there too—concern, maybe. It’s hard to tell through the tequila fog.
“I can walk,” you insist, taking a deliberate step forward to prove your point.
Your legs cooperate, mostly, though the floor seems to be at a slight angle that wasn’t there before.
“Never said you couldn’t.” He’s still close, though, ready to catch you if you stumble. “Just making sure you don’t face-plant in front of everyone. Would hate for you to embarrass yourself.”
“Too late for that,” you mutter, remembering your enthusiastic greeting to your friends.
A laugh escapes him, quiet enough that only you can hear it. “Nah, you’re fine. You’re just… friendlier when you’re drunk. It’s kind of cute.”
“I am not cute,” you say with as much dignity as you can muster while swaying slightly. “I am intimidating and cool.”
“Absolutely,” he agrees solemnly. “The most intimidating and cool person in the room. Everyone’s terrified.”
You glare at him, but it’s hard to maintain when he’s looking at you like that—amused but not mocking, a softness around his eyes that makes your stomach do a weird flip that has nothing to do with the alcohol.
“Shut up,” you say, lacking a more clever comeback. “It’s your fault anyway. Your stupid friends kept giving me shots.”
“My stupid friends, huh?” He raises an eyebrow. “And what does that make me?”
“The king of the stupid friends,” you declare, poking him in the chest. “The stupidest of them all.”
He catches your finger before you can poke him again, his hand warm around yours.
“Your Majesty, then.”
“Oh my god, you’re so—” You break off, distracted by the way he’s still holding your hand, casual as anything.
You pull away, flustered for no good reason.
“Let’s go. Karaoke awaits.”
“After you, Phoenix.” He gestures toward the door where your friends are gathering with the others.
You make your way over, focusing intently on putting one foot in front of the other without tripping. It’s harder than it should be, but you manage, only weaving slightly.
Yeji appears at your side, linking her arm through yours.
“How much have you had to drink?” she asks, voice low.
“A moderate amount,” you hedge. “An appropriate amount. A birthday celebration amount.”
“So, too much.”
“Maybe.”
She sighs, tightening her grip on your arm. “Babes, I’ve never seen you drunk. You sure you’re okay?
“Yuuusss,” you decide, nodding solemnly. “I stand by my choices.”
“Of course you do.” She glances over at Jungkook, who’s now engaged in an animated conversation with Taehyung and Hobi. “So, what’s going on there?”
“Where?” you ask, playing dumb even though you know exactly what she means.
“With your roommate. The one whose birthday party we just crashed.”
“Nothing’s going on,” you insist, too quickly. “We’re just… I don’t know. Trying to be friends. Or something. I guess.”
Friends. You and Jungkook.
Friends.
It’s starting to sound less terrifying.
“I see.” She grins, positioning her head on your shoulder. “Just don’t replace me, huh? I’m your new college bestie. I claim that title.”
Before you can respond, Irya bounces over, linking her arm through Yeji’s free one.
“Are we ready? The karaoke place gets busy on Saturdays.”
“We’re ready,” you confirm, smiling stupidly at the blonde. “Lead the way.”
As your strange, merged group spills out onto the sidewalk, you can’t help but wonder how the hell you ended up here—drunk, surrounded by people who barely know each other, heading to a karaoke bar on a Saturday night.
It’s bizarre. Surreal. Absolutely not how you expected your evening to go when you agreed to take Jungkook to the MoMA this morning.
But as you watch him laugh at something Irya says, his face open and relaxed in a way you rarely see at home, you can’t quite bring yourself to regret it.
Even if your head is spinning and your stomach is dangerously close to rejecting every questionable decision you’ve made tonight.
You catch his eye across the group, and he grins at you—that stupid, lopsided grin that always makes you want to either slap him or—
Well. Other things.
You roll your eyes, but you’re smiling too, unable to help yourself. And when he falls into step beside you as the group starts moving, close enough that your shoulders occasionally brush, you don’t move away.
It’s his birthday, after all. You can give him that much.
Somehow, the sidewalk is significantly more difficult to navigate than it was four hours ago.
"Careful," Jimin murmurs as you stumble over absolutely nothing for the third time in two blocks. He steadies you with a gentle grip, adjusting to link his arm more securely with yours.
"The ground is uneven," you insist, though it's clearly not. "Poorly maintained city infrastructure. Someone should write a strongly worded letter."
"Definitely the sidewalk's fault," he agrees, humor warming his soft voice.
You've ended up at the back of your odd parade, watching as your two separate friend groups merge into a loud, laughing mass of bodies moving through the Manhattan night. Yeji has somehow ended up walking beside Taehyung, both of them gesturing wildly as they argue about something. Irya is chatting with Tessa—a combination you wouldn't have predicted—while Hobi tells an animated story to Ryan and Seth that has them howling with laughter.
And then there's Jungkook, right in the middle of it all, moving between conversations simply like someone accustomed to being the center of attention. Even from behind, you can tell he's having a good time—shoulders relaxed, head thrown back in laughter at something Hobi says.
You can’t help but think it’s… a bit strange, seeing him like this. In the apartment, he's always a bit wound up—ready with a sarcastic comment or provocation. But here, surrounded by friends, celebrating, he seems... looser.
Happier.
It's a good look on him.
Not that you care.
"Here we are!" Hobi announces as your group reaches a neon-lit storefront, the sign advertising ‘SING YOUR HEART OUT’ in aggressively colorful lettering. "Best karaoke in the East Village."
The place is crowded—not surprising for a Saturday night—but Hobi apparently knows someone who works here because you're whisked past the line of waiting people and into the lobby with minimal fuss.
Inside, it reeks of cheap beer and cheaper air freshener, and the walls are plastered with faded posters of pop stars past and present; along with some occasional muffled screech of someone butchering a high note from one of the private rooms.
Everyone begins shedding layers at the coat check, a flurry of jackets and scarves being handed over to a bored-looking attendant who barely glances up from her phone.
You hang back with Jimin, suddenly aware of how sweaty your shirt is under your own jacket.
Great.
Nothing like marinating in your own alcohol-infused sweat to round out the evening.
"I kind of can't believe we're doing this," you mutter to Jimin, still leaning on him more heavily than you'd like to admit. "Karaoke? With these people? Is this real life?"
"It's definitely happening," he confirms, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Though I'm not sure how much you'll remember tomorrow."
"I'm not that drunk," you protest automatically. "I'm just... celebrating."
"Uh-huh." He doesn't sound convinced.
Across the lobby, Yeji and Jungkook are locked in what appears to be an intense negotiation over room selection, both of them pointing at different options on the laminated menu the hostess is holding. Taehyung stands nearby, pinching the bridge of his nose like he's developing a migraine.
"I'm telling you, the premium room has better song selection," Yeji insists, her voice carrying across the space.
"But the deluxe has the light-up dance floor," Jungkook counters, gesturing emphatically. "It's my birthday, I want the dance floor!"
"The dance floor is tacky!"
"It's not tacky, it's fun!"
"It's the definition of tacky."
"Your face is the definition of tacky."
"Wow, super mature comeback there, birthday boy."
Your eyes drift from their bickering to the quieter presence leaning against the far wall. Yoongi stands slightly apart from the group, scrolling through his phone with the detached air of someone who's physically present but mentally elsewhere.
You notice Jimin's gaze has followed yours. He's studying Yoongi with an intensity that feels almost... private. Like you're witnessing something you shouldn't.
"That's your other roommate, right?" he asks, voice soft.
"Yeah," you nod, head still resting on his shoulder. "Yoongi."
Jimin just smiles, a small, soft thing that doesn't quite reach his eyes. There's something there—a question, maybe, or a thought he's not voicing—but before you can figure it out, Yeji's sharp voice cuts through the moment.
"Y/N! Get over here and settle this!"
You straighten, blinking rapidly as the room spins slightly with the sudden movement.
“What?"
"Premium or deluxe?" she demands, beckoning you impatiently. "Tell this idiot that premium is clearly superior."
Jungkook turns to you, actually pouting like a kid who's been told he can't have a second ice cream cone.
"The deluxe has a light-up floor," he says, as if this is the most compelling argument in the world. "And disco balls."
You look between them, trying to focus through the tequila fog. It shouldn't be this hard to form an opinion about karaoke rooms, and yet.
You can't help the laugh that bubbles up at the absurdity of the situation—Yeji and Jungkook, two of the most stubborn people you know, locked in a standoff over something so utterly trivial.
"Come on, Yeji," you say, rolling your eyes even as you fight back another laugh. "He's the birthday boy. Let him make a choice that matters in his life for once."
Jungkook's indignant "yooo!" is drowned out by Yeji's dramatic sigh.
"Fine," she concedes, throwing up her hands. "But when we get stuck with a shitty song selection, don't come crying to me."
"I'll make it up to you," Jungkook promises, already bouncing with excitement. "You can choose the first song."
"Damn right I will." She huffs, no anger behind it.
Jungkook turns to you, triumph written all over his stupid handsome face. "See? I can be reasona—" He cuts himself off with a yelp as you swat at him playfully.
"Don't push it," you warn, but you're smiling despite yourself.
The hostess, who's been watching this entire exchange with the weary resignation of someone who's seen far too many drunk people argue over karaoke rooms, clears her throat pointedly.
“So... deluxe room? For how many hours?"
"Two," Hobi calls from where he's now organizing a drink order with the rest of the group. "At least!"
"Follow me," she says, gathering menus and leading the way down a dimly lit hallway plastered with even more music posters.
Your odd group trails after her like ducklings, Jungkook practically skipping in excitement. You hang back slightly, still unsteady on your feet, and find yourself walking beside Yoongi, who's finally pocketed his phone.
"You sure about this?" he asks quietly, eyeing you with what might be concern. "You look like you're about ten minutes from passing out."
"I'm fine," you insist, though the hallway is doing that weird tunnel-vision thing that definitely isn't normal. "Just pacing myself."
He snorts, clearly not buying it. "Sure."
"I am," you argue, even as you reach out to steady yourself against the wall. "Totally in control."
"Right." His tone is dry as dust. "That's why you're currently leaning on a poster of Justin Bieber."
You glance over and, sure enough, your hand is planted firmly on young Bieber's face.
You snatch it away with a grimace.
"Ew."
"Exactly." He doesn't say anything else, but he stays close as you make your way down the hall, oddly comforting in its steadiness.
Just like the day at the gynecologist.
The deluxe room, when you finally reach it, lives up to Jungkook's hype—it's large enough to fit your entire group comfortably, with plush seating along the walls, a central space that is indeed illuminated by color-changing floor panels, and not one but two disco balls hanging from the ceiling. The most impressive feature, though, is the giant screen taking up one entire wall, currently displaying the karaoke company's logo bouncing around like an old DVD screensaver.
"This is amazing," Jungkook declares, immediately bouncing onto the dance floor, which lights up green and blue under his feet. "Worth every penny."
"We haven't paid yet," Taehyung reminds him, but he's smiling as he says it.
"Details," Jungkook waves dismissively, spinning in a circle that makes the floor shift colors again. "Come on, everyone pick a song! I want to hear Hobi destroy 'Uptown Funk' again!"
"Bold of you to assume I'd repeat myself," Hobi says, already flipping through the song catalog. "I'm thinking Beyoncé tonight."
"God help us all," Taehyung mutters, but he's already grabbing a microphone.
You sink onto one of the couches, grateful for the chance to sit before your legs give out.
The room is spinning slightly, but in a pleasant way now—like you're on a very slow merry-go-round. From this vantage point, you can watch as everyone settles in, claiming seats and drinks and song choices with the chaotic energy of people determined to have a good time.
Jungkook is still in the center of it all, now trying to convince Yeji to duet with him on some song you can't quite make out over the general noise. She's protesting, but you can tell she'll give in eventually—there's a gleam in her eye that says she's enjoying this more than she's letting on.
The first note of "Don't Stop Believin'" hasn't even finished before Hobi's on his feet, microphone clutched in his hand like it's the Olympic torch and he's the last runner.
What follows can only be described as a religious experience.
The man doesn't just sing—he performs.
Every note, every gesture, every hip thrust (and there are many) executed with the determination of someone who's spent significant time studying the art of karaoke domination.
By the time he hits the chorus, the entire room is on their feet, singing along whether they want to or not.
You find yourself belting out words you didn't even know you remembered, arm slung around Yeji's shoulders as you sway dramatically.
And that's just the beginning.
Taehyung and Jungkook follow with some K-pop song you've never heard but somehow everyone else seems to know the choreography to. Irya delivers a surprisingly powerful Adele ballad that has Yeji staring at her with undisguised adoration. Seth and Ryan butcher ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ with the confidence of men who have never been told they can't sing.
Somewhere between your third vodka cranberry and Yeji's unexpectedly heartfelt rendition of ‘Dancing Queen,’ you lose all remaining inhibitions.
Which is how you end up center stage, microphone in hand, challenging Taehyung to an Eminem rap battle that neither of you are remotely qualified for.
"I've got this," you hiss, yanking the mic toward you as the opening beats of ‘Lose Yourself’ start playing. "I've been preparing my whole life. Get ready to get your ass beaten, jerkinci.”
"You've been preparing to embarrass yourself," Taehyung retorts, tugging the microphone back. "I actually know all the words."
"Bullshit. Nobody knows all the words."
The first verse hits and you're both fumbling, words slurring together as you try to keep pace with the rapid-fire lyrics.
You've got maybe every third word right, but what you lack in accuracy you make up for in enthusiasm, half-shouting into the microphone while Taehyung tries to pry it from your grasp.
"His palms are sweaty—"
"—mom's spaghetti—"
"—nervous, but on the surface he looks—"
"—SPAGHETTI!"
You dissolve into laughter at the same time Taehyung does, both of you bent double as the backing track continues without you.
"Draw," Jungkook declares from somewhere to your left. "You both lose. Spectacularly."
"I clearly won," you argue, straightening up with as much dignity as you can muster, which isn't much. "I hit at least four words correctly."
"Wow, four whole words," Taehyung deadpans. "Eminem is shaking."
"He should be," you agree solemnly. "I'm coming for his whole career."
The music shifts to something slower, and you realize you're suddenly very, very thirsty. And maybe a little dizzy.
You hand the microphone to Jimin, who's been quietly watching the disaster unfold with a bemused smile.
"Your turn," you tell him, patting his arm. "Show them how it's done."
He starts to protest, but Irya's already pulling him toward the screen, insisting they do a duet.
You make your way back to the couches, flopping down with more force than intended. The room tilts briefly before righting itself.
"Need a break?" Jungkook asks, appearing beside you with a glass of water.
When did he get water? More importantly, when did he get so considerate?
"Maybe," you admit, accepting the glass. "Thanks."
He studies your face for a moment, and you resist the urge to check if you've got something on it.
"I'm gonna hit the bathroom. Don't pass out while I'm gone."
"No promises."
He laughs, the sound warm even over the pulsing music, and then he's gone, weaving through your friends toward the exit.
You take a long sip of water, letting the cool liquid soothe your throat, raw from shouting lyrics and laughing too hard.
Your eyes dance around, noticing Hobi teaching Ryan some dance move on the light-up floor, Yeji and Irya huddled together on one of the couches, heads bent close as they flip through the song catalog, Taehyung now trying to convince Yoongi to join him for something that has Yoongi shaking his head emphatically.
It's... nice. In a chaotic, messy, not-at-all-what-you-planned kind of way.
The couch dips as someone sits beside you. You turn, expecting Yeji or Jimin, and find yourself face to face with Tessa instead.
"Hi!" she says brightly, tucking a strand of perfect auburn hair behind her ear. "Mind if I join you for a minute?"
"Free country," you shrug, shifting slightly to make room even though there's plenty of space.
She smiles, and you can't help noticing how ridiculously pretty she is even in the garish lighting of the karaoke room. No smudged mascara, no frizzy hair, no signs of being several drinks in like the rest of you heathens.
It's annoying.
Pretty people should have the decency to look at least a little disheveled when everyone else does.
“That was quite a performance,” she says, smiling warmly. “I didn’t know you were into rap.”
“I’m not, really,” you admit, taking another sip of water. “I just couldn’t let Taehyung think he’s better than me at something.”
She laughs, the sound light and genuinely amused. “You guys have known each other long?”
“Not really. Just through Jungkook, honestly.”
“Oh!” Her face brightens at the mention of his name. “That’s actually… I was hoping to talk to you about him, if you don’t mind?”
The way her voice lifts hopefully at the end, combined with the slight flush on her cheeks that has nothing to do with alcohol, tells you exactly where this conversation is headed.
Great.
Girl talk about your hookup buddy. Exactly what you signed up for tonight.
But there’s something so genuinely nice about her expression that you can’t bring yourself to brush her off.
It’s not her fault Jungkook’s… well, Jungkook.
“What about him?” you ask, though you already know.
“I just… I really like him? And I was wondering if you had any insights, you know, being his roommate and all.”
You should have seen this coming.
Of course the pretty film student would be into Jungkook. Of course she’d want insider information.
Wait.
How the actual fuck does Jungkook pull these types of women?
Like, seriously. This girl looks like she should be dating a 6’4” investment banker with good hair, not your annoying roommate who sometimes forgets to wash his coffee mug for so long it develops its own ecosystem.
The universe is truly unfair.
“I’ve only lived with him for about a month,” you say, because it’s true and also gives you time to process.
“I know, I know,” she says quickly. “But you must have some impression of him by now, right? Like, what’s he really like? Outside of class and everything?”
You take another long drink of water, considering.
The truth is, you do know things about Jungkook that probably no one in this room knows—like how he bakes sourdough when he can’t sleep, or how he gets oddly protective of Griffin’s food schedule, or the precise sound he makes when he comes.
Which is actually a thought that gives you pause.
If Tessa and Jungkook start dating, that means your arrangement would end.
No more convenient stress relief.
No more really good sex after bad days.
That would kind of suck, honestly. Because whatever else he is, Jungkook is fantastic in bed. The idea of giving that up isn’t particularly appealing.
But on the other hand… aren’t you kind of friends now? Or at least trying to be?
And friends help each other out.
Even if that means letting go of a mutually beneficial sex arrangement.
Besides, look at her. She’s gorgeous, clearly intelligent, and seems genuinely sweet. Jungkook would be a complete idiot to pass that up for occasional hookups with his sarcastic roommate.
She’s still looking at you expectantly, those wide hazel eyes so earnest it’s almost painful.
“He’s…” you start, then sigh. “Look, I don’t really know him that well outside of basic roommate stuff.”
“Oh.” Her face falls slightly.
Dammit.
Why does she have to look like a disappointed puppy?
“But,” you continue, “I can tell you he’s very passionate about film. Like, genuinely passionate, not just doing it because it seems cool.”
Her expression brightens immediately. “I know, right? The way he talks about cinematography is so… I don’t know, refreshing? Like he actually cares about the art of it.”
“And he’s good with his hands,” you add before you can stop yourself, then immediately want to die. “I mean, like, fixing things! He fixed our bathroom sink when it was leaking.”
Nice save, idiot.
“That’s so sweet,” she says, apparently not picking up on your momentary panic. “He seems really thoughtful, you know? Like, in class he’s always offering to help people with their equipment.”
You nod, because that actually tracks with what you’ve seen of him. For all his annoying qualities, Jungkook does seem to genuinely care about helping people sometimes. It’s one of his more redeeming features.
“You really like him, huh?” you ask, though it’s obvious.
She blushes, looking down at her hands. “Is it that obvious?”
“A little,” you admit, smiling despite yourself. “But it’s cute.”
And it is cute, actually.
She seems genuinely into him, not just physically attracted or playing some kind of game.
It’s surprising that a girl like her would be interested in your dumbass roommate, but weirder things have happened.
“Do you think I have a chance?” she asks, her voice dropping to a near whisper, as if she’s sharing a secret. “I mean, I’ve been trying to drop hints, but I can’t tell if he’s picking up on them or just being nice.”
You glance toward the door where Jungkook disappeared, considering. Because in all honesty, you have no idea what his type is beyond ‘willing and available.’ Your arrangement has never included discussions about who else either of you might be seeing or interested in. For all you know, he could be totally into Tessa.
And really, why wouldn’t he be? She’s gorgeous, smart from what you can tell, and seems genuinely kind.
She’s basically way too good for him, but if she can’t see that, it’s not your job to point it out.
“I think…” you start slowly, turning back to her. “I think you should go for it.”
“Really?” Her whole face lights up, and you find yourself smiling back reflexively.
“Yeah, really.”
You straighten up, suddenly feeling like you’re on more solid ground. This is just basic girl code, after all. Helping a fellow woman navigate the treacherous waters of modern dating, even if the guy in question is your occasional fuck buddy.
Plus, you can be the bigger person here.
Yes, the sex with Jungkook is great, but there will be other guys. Other hot idiots to hook up with. It’s not like he’s the only option in New York City.
“Look, Jungkook’s… an okay guy, I guess? But if you like him, you should definitely let him know. Life’s too short for subtle hints.”
“That’s what Irya said too!” She laughs, reaching out to squeeze your arm gratefully. “Oh my god, thank you. I was so nervous to ask you, because I didn’t know if you two were… you know.”
“Me and Jungkook?” You almost choke on your water. “God, no. Absolutely not. We’re just roommates. Barely even friends, honestly.”
It’s not entirely a lie. Yes, you’ve been sleeping together, but it’s just physical. There are no feelings involved. It’s just convenient, uncomplicated sex—exactly how you like it.
“Oh, good,” she says, relief clear in her voice. “I wasn’t sure, and I’d never want to step on any toes.”
“No toes here,” you assure her, wiggling your feet for emphasis. “Completely toe-free zone.”
She giggles, and you find yourself smiling back. She really is nice, which makes it hard to keep disliking her just for being pretty and put-together.
“So,” you continue, feeling oddly invested now. “What’s your plan? How are you going to let him know you’re interested?”
“I don’t know,” she admits, biting her lip. “I was thinking maybe I could ask him to coffee? To discuss a project or something? But that might be too subtle.”
“Definitely too subtle. Guys are dense as bricks. Trust me.”
“What would you suggest then?”
You tap your chin, thinking. “You should just ask him out directly. No pretense, no ‘let’s discuss this project.’ Just ‘hey, I like you, let’s go on a date.’”
“Oh god,” she groans, covering her face with her hands. “I don’t know if I’m brave enough for that.”
“Sure you are,” you encourage, surprising yourself with your sudden enthusiasm for this matchmaking endeavor. “Look at you! You’re gorgeous, smart, and frankly, way out of his league. If anything, he should be intimidated by you.”
She peeks through her fingers, looking both flattered and skeptical. “You really think so?”
“Absolutely. In fact…” You pull out your phone, opening your contacts. “Give me your number. I’ll help you figure out the perfect approach.”
“Seriously?” She beams, reciting her number as you type it in. “That would be amazing. I’m so glad we got to talk tonight.”
“Me too,” you say, and find that you actually mean it. “And hey, even if things with Jungkook don’t work out, we should hang out sometime. You seem cool.”
“I’d love that!” She looks genuinely delighted, which makes you feel a small pang of guilt for your initial judgment of her based solely on her perfect hair and flawless makeup.
As you finish entering her contact info, you glance around and realize Jungkook still hasn’t returned from the bathroom.
It’s been what, ten minutes? Fifteen? Way too long, even accounting for lines or hand-washing (which, knowing him, is probably not a factor anyway).
“Hey, I’ll be right back,” you tell Tessa, pocketing your phone. “I just want to check that your future boyfriend hasn’t fallen in or something.”
She chuckles at the term but nods, still smiling. “Sure. I’ll save your seat.”
You navigate through the chaos of the room, dodging Hobi’s enthusiastic dance moves and stepping over Taehyung, who’s now sprawled dramatically across the floor reciting what sounds like Shakespeare to a bemused Yeji. The hallway outside is quieter, though the bass from neighboring rooms thrums through the walls.
Where the hell did Jungkook go? The bathrooms are just down the hall, and there’s no way he’d ditch his own birthday celebration.
Maybe he’s answering a call? Or got waylaid by some random person?
Or maybe the idiot got lost on the way back. You wouldn’t put it past him.
With a sigh, you head toward the bathrooms, determined to drag his ass back to the party.
After all, you’ve got a stunning redhead waiting to shoot her shot with him, and you’ll be damned if your sacrifice of great casual sex goes to waste because he can’t find his way back from taking a piss.
You turn the corner, ready to pound on the men's room door and yell at Jungkook for taking forever, when—oh.
He's not alone.
There's a girl. Of course there's a girl. Because when isn't there a girl around Jungkook?
This one's got shiny black hair down to her waist and is wearing what looks like an actual fucking Chanel dress to a karaoke bar.
Who does that?
The kind of person who also wears Louboutins to a place where the floor is permanently sticky with spilled beer, apparently.
But it's not her rich bitch outfit that makes you stop.
It's Jungkook.
He looks... wrong.
He's staring at the floor like it's the most fascinating thing he's ever seen, shoulders hunched forward in a way that makes him seem smaller somehow. His usual swagger is completely gone. He keeps opening and closing his mouth like a fish gasping for air, not actually saying anything.
It's weird.
Really fucking weird.
Before you can think better of it, you're walking toward them.
Stupid protective instinct. Stupid tequila. Stupid feet moving without permission.
Jungkook notices you first, his eyes widening in what looks like panic. The girl turns around, giving you a slow once-over that makes you feel like you've been scanned and found wanting.
She's beautiful. Like, unfairly beautiful. The kind of beautiful that probably makes other girls hate her on sight. Perfect skin, dark eyes, delicate features that look more doll-like than human. Her smile is almost too perfect, like it was professionally installed rather than something that grew naturally on her face.
"Oh my gosh, hi!" Her voice is high and sweet, like artificial honey. "I'm so sorry, am I keeping him too long? You must be looking for Kooky."
Kooky? Is she fucking serious right now?
"Can you believe we ran into each other? What are the chances?" She grabs your arm like you're old friends, squeezing with perfectly manicured nails that dig in slightly. "I was just telling him it must be fate. Some connections are just meant to be, right?"
She's acting like you're all at some cute reunion instead of standing in a gross hallway outside a karaoke bathroom. Her perfume is expensive and overwhelming—the kind that probably has a French name and costs more than your rent.
Jungkook clears his throat, still not looking at her. "It's just a coincidence, Mia."
Mia.
The name hits like a slap.
This is her? The ex that sent those texts that made him look like he'd seen a ghost?
Bitch looks like she belongs on a billboard, not stalking her ex in a karaoke bar.
"Oh, you're so skeptical," she laughs, the sound like tiny bells. "Always was. That's what I loved about you though, always keeping me grounded." She turns to you with a conspiratorial smile. "He's the practical one. I'm the dreamer. We balanced each other so well."
She's talking about him like he's not standing right there.
Like he's a character in a story she's telling.
"I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name? I'm Mia."
"Y/N," you say flatly. "Jungkook's roommate."
"Roommate! Oh how wonderful," she claps her hands together like you've just announced you've won the lottery. "It's so nice to see Kooky making new friends. He was always so reserved with people he doesn't know well."
She leans in close enough that you can smell her breath—minty with an undercurrent of expensive champagne.
“Trust issues. We worked on it a lot during our time together."
She says it like they were in some kind of therapy program, not… dating.
What the actual fuck?
"I've found him pretty straightforward," you say, stepping closer to Jungkook because something is clearly wrong here.
He's still staring at the floor, still silent, still looking nothing like the annoying, confident asshole you live with.
"Oh, then he must really trust you," Mia says, eyes wide like you've shared some profound revelation. "That's so special. After everything he went through with his father, it's hard for him to let people in."
His father? Since when does Jungkook talk about his family? He's never mentioned a word about his father to you.
Jungkook's head snaps up at this, face gone pale. "Mia, don't—"
"Oh, I'm sorry!" She covers her mouth with one hand, looking embarrassed. "Was that not something...? I just assumed since you're roommates..." She turns to you and shrugs apologetically. "I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have mentioned it. Please forget I said anything."
Right.
Like you're going to forget she just dropped that little bomb.
But now's not the time to dig into whatever daddy issues Jungkook's apparently hiding.
"It's fine," you say, because what else can you say?
"Anyway," she continues, her voice shifting back to that syrupy sweetness, "I was just telling Kooky we should get together sometime. Catch up properly."
She squeezes Jungkook's arm.
“I've missed our little movie nights. Nobody appreciates Park Chan-wook like you do."
Jungkook's still doing his best statue impression, eyes fixed somewhere near the exit sign like he's calculating how fast he can make a break for it.
"We were just getting ready to leave, actually," she says, gesturing down the hall. "I'm here with some friends from Parsons—we have a private room upstairs. You two should join us! We have so much champagne, it's ridiculous. My father just closed another deal in Singapore, so we're celebrating."
Of course her dad makes international business deals. Of course she has a private room upstairs. Of course she's casually drinking champagne while the rest of you slurp tequila from plastic cups.
"I don't think—" Jungkook starts, voice sounding rusty like he's forgotten how to use it.
"It would be so fun!" Mia insists, looking at you now with wide, earnest eyes. "Honestly, any friend of Kooky's is a friend of mine. I've been dying to get to know the people in his life now."
She's laying it on thick, like she's auditioning for the role of Supportive Ex-Girlfriend in some bad rom-com. It's almost impressive how sincere she sounds while being so obviously full of shit.
"We're actually here with a group," you say, firmer this time. "It's Jungkook's birthday."
"Your birthday!" she gasps, turning to Jungkook with exaggerated surprise. "Oh, I can't believe I forgot! I used to be so good with dates."
She steps closer to him, practically pressing against his chest.
"I should have gotten you something. Although I think my presence is gift enough, don't you? Just like old times." She laughs, light and tinkling. "Remember that birthday I planned for you last year? The surprise party at The Standard? Everyone said it was the best night of their lives."
You can practically see her subtext in neon letters above her head: ‘Whatever you losers planned tonight is nothing compared to what I did for him.’
"I don't think he wants to reminisce," you say, surprised by the edge in your own voice. "We should get back."
The bitch’s smile falters for just a second before snapping back into place.
“Oh, I totally get it. You guys have plans. I would never want to intrude on your... celebration."
The way she says ‘celebration’ makes it sound like she's referring to a kindergarten birthday party with paper hats and apple juice.
"We should get your number though, Kooky," she continues, already pulling out her phone. "I changed mine recently. We really should catch up soon. I have so much to tell you."
Jungkook looks like he'd rather eat glass than take her number. His hands are actually shaking slightly—what the hell happened between these two?
"I don't think that's necessary," you say, and without really thinking about it, you link your arm through his.
His skin is cold through his shirt sleeve.
This is the first time his skin’s ever been cold.
He’s usually always a walking furnace—a warm backdrop to your perpetually freezing body.
“Why not? Can’t hurt.” She tilts her head, eyes crinkling in a tight smile.
“Might hurt.”
Mia's eyes flash to where you're touching him, her smile tightening just a fraction.
"Oh, I see," she says, her voice still sweet but with something sharper underneath. "You two are..."
"Friends," you finish firmly. "Good friends."
"How sweet," she says.
She reaches out and straightens Jungkook's collar in a way that feels weirdly intimate.
“You always did need someone to look after you, didn't you, baby?"
She sighs, the sound somehow both theatrical and condescending. You feel Jungkook tense next to you.
What the hell is she talking about?
"Save my number," she says, pressing a small business card—who even carries those anymore?—into his hand. "For when you realize what you're missing. You know where to find me when you want a real connection again."
She leans in and kisses his cheek, holding it a beat too long.
“Happy birthday, Kooky. Try not to have too much fun without me."
She gives you a final look, equal parts pity and dismissal, before sauntering away down the hall, her heels clicking a perfect rhythm against the floor.
Jesus Christ. Is this real life? Did you just witness an actual soap opera villain in action?
The whole thing feels surreal, like you accidentally walked onto a TV set during filming.
"You okay?" you ask Jungkook when she's gone, because what else can you say?
He's still staring after her, jaw tight.
"Fine."
"Bullshit."
He glances at you, momentarily surprised by your bluntness. Then he sighs, running a hand through his hair.
"I... I think I need some air."
"Yeah, of course."
Not that you really have any other response ready. What are you supposed to say? ‘Sorry your ex is a walking red flag’? ‘Want to talk about whatever the fuck just happened?’ ‘By the way, what was that father line?’
"I'll be back in five," he says, already moving toward the exit sign at the end of the hall. "I just need a minute."
"Okay."
He pauses, glancing back.
“Thanks."
Then he's gone, pushing through the exit door, leaving you standing in the hallway with the lingering scent of expensive perfume and a head full of questions.
What the hell was all that about? And why does he look like he's seen a ghost? And what did she mean about his father?
You shake your head, trying to clear it.
Not your business. Not your problem. You have your own shit to deal with without adding Jungkook's ex drama to the list.
But as you turn to head back to the karaoke room, you can't help glancing toward the exit where he disappeared.
He really did look... small. Scared, almost.
Nothing like the cocky asshole who drives you crazy on a daily basis.
It's disconcerting, seeing him like that. Like peeking behind a curtain you didn't know existed.
You're going to need another drink for this.
It's pathetic, really.
Jungkook knows it. He acknowledges it fully, standing here on the rooftop of some overpriced karaoke joint in the heart of Manhattan, staring down at the tiny flask in his hand.
Not whiskey, not vodka—no, nothing even remotely respectable. Just pure vanilla extract.
Fucking vanilla extract.
He twists off the cap, lifts it to his lips, and takes a small sip. It burns just enough going down to remind him he's alive, but it tastes good.
Always good.
Sweet enough to mask the bitterness that's permanently lodged at the back of his throat these days.
It's not the watered-down shit they sell at grocery stores either—he learned that lesson quickly after one particularly desperate night ended with him gagging over his sink.
No, this is the real deal, the expensive kind he has to order online from some bougie shop in France that probably laughs every time they ship another bottle to New York City.
His therapist side-eyed him when he first confessed this little habit—because who wouldn't? Who the fuck drinks baking ingredients to cope?
But after a few awkward seconds of silence and scribbling notes on her pad (he hates when she does that), she'd shrugged and said it was better than alcohol or pills or whatever else he could be doing instead.
So Jungkook took what he could get.
If vanilla extract keeps him from self-destructing completely, then that's what he'll stick to.
He leans against the rooftop railing, cold metal pressing into his forearms through his thin shirt. Below him, lights blur together into a neon haze—yellow taxis weaving through traffic like fireflies darting between trees. The city beneath him looks both indifferent and alive, while Jungkook feels like he's barely holding it together.
Happy fucking birthday to him.
Birthdays are supposed to mean something. Another year older, wiser, closer to figuring shit out—but Jungkook just feels stuck.
Twenty-something years old and still sneaking away from his own birthday party because seeing Mia had knocked the air out of his lungs in a way that made him feel like a fucking teenager again.
Weak.
Pathetic.
Unable to even form a coherent sentence when she'd looked at him with those eyes—the ones that used to make him feel special until he realized they were just another weapon in her arsenal.
He takes another sip of vanilla extract, savoring the burn this time as it slides down his throat. It's stupidly comforting in a way he can't quite explain—not even to himself.
Maybe it's nostalgia or some childhood memory he's buried deep down beneath layers of emotional baggage and trauma from Mia and everything else he's fucked up along the way.
Or maybe it's just because it's something sweet and simple in a life that's become anything but.
He chuckles bitterly under his breath, shaking his head at himself.
"You're fucking ridiculous," he mutters into the night air.
But ridiculous or not—pathetic or not—it helps.
And right now, that's all that matters.
Twenty minutes. That's how long he's been up here, hiding like a child. Twenty minutes of staring at the skyline and trying to get his shit together. Twenty minutes of letting Mia's voice echo in his head like a bad song he can't turn off.
He closes his eyes briefly, inhaling deeply as cool September air fills his lungs.
He can hear muffled laughter drifting up from downstairs—the karaoke room packed with film school friends who've probably noticed his absence by now—and for once tonight, Jungkook doesn't mind being forgotten for a little while longer.
He'll go back eventually; plaster on another easy smile like nothing happened because that's what he does best these days: pretend everything is fine until everyone else believes it.
And then—the icing on the cake.
He mentally claps for himself at that one. Solid joke. A little on the nose, sure, but he'll take it.
You're there.
He doesn't even need to look to know it's you. That faint trace of vanilla that isn't his flask. Not the sharp, concentrated kind that burns his throat and keeps him grounded.
No, you smell like vanilla, but softer. Warmer. Like someone took the edge off and folded it into something human.
There's something else underneath it too—milky, maybe? Creamy? He doesn't know how to describe it without sounding like a complete idiot, so he doesn't try.
It's funny, though.
Hilarious, actually.
Because in the four weeks he's known you, he knows you're anything but soft.
You're mouthy as hell.
Reckless in a way that makes him think you've got some kind of death wish or maybe just a really bad sense of self-preservation.
You talk back every time he opens his mouth, like it's your personal mission to make sure he never gets the last word.
He should find you annoying.
Irritating enough to make him want to jump off this rooftop just to get away from you.
And yeah, sometimes he does—like when you leave your tea bags in the sink instead of throwing them out like a normal person, or when you steal his hoodies and pretend they just ‘ended up’ in your laundry by accident (as if he doesn't know you're lying).
But mostly?
Mostly, you're just...there.
A sudden disruption in his life when he was finally starting to feel okay again. Starting to enjoy the quiet. Heal, or whatever the fuck people call it when they're trying to piece themselves back together after everything's gone to shit.
And then you came along.
All talk back and adrenaline and thrill and sex.
Really good sex.
He shouldn't be thinking about that right now—not here, not with you standing behind him like some kind of ghost haunting his already-fucked-up night—but it's hard not to when everything about you feels like a challenge he can't help but rise to.
The way you smell, the way you look at him like you're daring him to say something stupid just so you can tear him apart for it...it's infuriating.
Addictive too.
He takes another sip from his flask because what else is he supposed to do?
He can feel your eyes on him—sharp and curious, probably trying to figure out why he's up here alone with nothing but a tiny bottle of vanilla extract for company—and suddenly the burn in his throat isn't enough to distract him anymore.
"Didn't know karaoke had a rooftop package," you say eventually.
Jungkook snorts before he can stop himself, shaking his head as he screws the cap back onto his flask.
"Yeah, well," he says, turning around just enough to glance at you over his shoulder. "Figured I'd splurge for my birthday."
Your eyebrows lift at that—just a little—but you don't say anything right away.
"You know they've noticed you're not around, right?" you say after a moment, your tone careful. "People are asking."
He sighs, running a hand through his hair.
Of course they are. Because that's what happens when you disappear for twenty minutes in the middle of your own birthday party.
"You good?" you add, and there's something in your voice that makes him look at you directly. "Because we need you back there."
God, you're annoying. Always so direct, always cutting through his bullshit like it's tissue paper.
He should hate this—hate you—but somehow, Jungkook can't really bring himself to fully mean it.
"How'd you find me?" he asks instead of answering your question.
You shrug. "Just a hunch. Figured if I wanted to escape, I'd go up, not down."
He stares at the city below, the skyline stretching out like a postcard someone forgot to mail. The cars are specks from up here, tiny dots crawling along the veins of Manhattan. It's almost peaceful if he squints hard enough to ignore the noise humming faintly in the background—the kind that never really stops, even at this height.
For a moment, it's quiet. Just him, the skyline, and the faint burn of vanilla still lingering on his tongue.
Then he hears it: your footsteps. Soft, slow, like you're trying not to startle him but also don't care enough to stop yourself from intruding.
Of course you're here.
You stop just short of the railing at first, hovering like you're testing the waters.
Then, after what feels like an eternity but is probably only a few seconds, you step closer and lean against it. Right next to him. Close enough that he can catch another whiff of that vanilla-milky-whatever-the-fuck scent that's been messing with his head all night.
He doesn't look at you. Doesn't have to. He knows exactly what you're doing—trying to see whatever it is he's staring at like it's some big mystery that needs solving.
A smile tugs at the corner of his mouth despite himself because yeah, this is so you.
Meddling without actually meddling. Curious without outright saying it.
And he doesn't know how he knows that about you, but he does.
So when you finally break the silence with a casual, "What was that?"—your chin jutting toward his jacket pocket—he's not surprised.
"Huh?" He plays dumb, glancing down at his pocket like he has no idea what you're talking about. "Nothing."
Your eyes narrow slightly, and he can feel your gaze boring into him even though he still refuses to meet it.
“Nothing," you repeat flatly, like you don't believe him for a second. "Right."
"Yup." He pops the 'p' for emphasis and turns his attention back to the city below, hoping you'll drop it.
You don't.
"What kind of nothing are we talking about here?" Your tone is light, teasing—but there's an edge of curiosity there too. The kind that tells him you're not going to let this go anytime soon.
"It's just...nothing," he says again, more firmly this time but still avoiding your gaze.
"Uh-huh." You lean in slightly, tilting your head as if that'll give you a better angle on whatever he's hiding. "So nothing just happens to fit perfectly in your jacket pocket?"
He sighs, shaking his head slightly as a low chuckle escapes him despite himself.
“You're relentless, you know that?"
"Yep," you say easily, popping the 'p' right back at him. "So? What is it?"
He hesitates for a moment, debating whether or not to tell you the truth.
It's stupid—embarrassing even—but something about the way you're looking at him makes it hard to keep deflecting.
Finally, with a resigned sigh and a slight smirk tugging at his lips, he pulls the flask out of his pocket and holds it up for you to see.
"It's vanilla extract," he says simply.
You blink at him, clearly not expecting that answer.
“Vanilla extract," you repeat slowly, like you're waiting for him to say he's joking.
"Yup."
He unscrews the cap and takes another small sip just to prove his point before screwing it back on and slipping it into his pocket again.
For once, you're speechless—and Jungkook can't help but feel a small sense of victory as he leans back against the railing with a smug grin on his face.
"Happy now?"
The silence stretches a beat too long after his admission. He licks vanilla residue off his bottom lip, the sweetness turning cloying under your stare.
"It's pathetic, I know."
"I mean—it's weird," you say, shrugging. "But not pathetic-weird. Just… niche."
He huffs, drumming his fingers against the railing. "Yeah, who the fuck drinks vanilla extract, huh? Couldn't stick to whiskey like a normal fuckup. Had to be quirky.”
The word drips with self-mockery.
You lean back, arms crossed. "We all have our vices. At least you don't smell like an ashtray."
"You'd kick my ass if I smoked in the apartment."
"Damn right."
The corner of his mouth twitches. Below, a siren wails—distant, unimportant. He watches you watch the city, the neon glow catching on your eyes.
"It's… comforting. Don't know why. Ethanol or whatever—therapist says it's placebo with benefits."
"Placebo with benefits," you repeat, deadpan. "That your band name?"
He snorts. "Nah. Ethanol Enthusiasts."
"Catchy."
Another pause.
The wind tugs at his sleeves, carrying your scent again.
Fuck.
"What started it?" you ask, casual as someone asking about the weather.
His thumb rubs the flask's engraving—a nervous tic he didn't know he had.
“Didn't wanna become my old man. Found this… seemed safer." The admission tastes bitter. He backtracks with a shrug. "Therapist greenlit it. Win-win."
You hum, noncommittal.
“Explains why you're obsessed with vanilla lattes."
"Am not—"
"You are. You side-eye my tea like it's piss."
"Because it is piss. Chamomile's for grandmas."
"Says the guy sipping baking supplies."
He barks a laugh, sharp and surprised. When he turns, you're smirking—that infuriating, I-win smirk that usually makes him want to rile you up.
Now it just feels… warm.
"You smell like vanilla," he says softly.
Your smirk falters. "You've mentioned. Usually when you're—"
"Not then." He cuts you off, voice lower. "All the time. Even when you're not… y'know."
"Y'know?" You raise a brow.
"Fuckin'—wearing shit. Perfume. Whatever." He gestures vaguely at you. "It's just… you."
The words hang, raw and clumsy.
You blink, that sharp mask slipping for a half-second. He watches your throat move as you swallow.
"Huh," you say finally.
"Huh," he mimics, too quick. Deflect. Always deflect. "Maybe you're part cookie. Secretly."
You freeze. Just for a heartbeat.
Then you smirk, but it doesn't reach your eyes.
“Maybe I'm marinating."
"Maybe," he murmurs.
Another siren. Another beep. Another car being way too loud in this fucking city.
"Or maybe you were made just for me."
It slips out. Too raw. Too honest.
Shit.
Jungkook's throat tightens—what the fuck was that?
He licks his lips, grip tightening on the railing as he scrambles to claw the moment back from the edge of whatever that just was.
"I mean—" He forces a scoff, rolling his eyes like he's mocking himself. "—or you're just some undercover therapist plant. Be honest."
He side-eyes you, smirk plastered on.
“You know Dr. Liao, don't you? This is an intervention. 'Let's gaslight Jungkook into emotional vulnerability via mediocre sex and vanilla-scented body wash—'"
You snort, cutting him off. "Mediocre?"
"Painfully average."
"Excuse you?" You open your mouth exaggeratedly, and he can't help but grin at the sheer offense in your expression. "Okay wow, we are never having sex again."
"Cap."
"Are you seriously using online slang in real life?"
"Yeah, because you're capping."
"I am not capping and stop doing that, it's so cringe."
"But you just said capping too?"
"I—that's because you said it first you moron!"
"And you said it second so who's the real moron here?"
"That's it, I'm never wearing vanilla perfume ever again."
He stops abruptly at that. Looks you in the eyes.
"Like you are right now?"
You open your mouth. Close it real fast. Press your lips together.
"Maybe."
"No maybes. I can literally smell it from here."
He tilts his head slowly, letting you move back if that's what you want.
But you don't.
And he takes that as an invitation, his nose hovering over the soft spot under your ear, where you always apply your cologne on.
"Right here." He mutters, voice velvety and rough. "Really makes me wanna fuck you."
You don't move your head, but your hands come to rest on his chest, and he likes that.
Likes that, despite whatever semblance of control you're trying to channel, you're slipping out of balance.
Like you need to hold on to something—on to him.
"I could fuck you here, you know." He continues, pressing his lips against your skin as he angles your bodies just right—your back against the railing, both his arms caging you in. "Right against the railing. Give the locals a nice view."
"You're insane." You say, but it lacks conviction. He knows it does. "Nobody down there could see us from below, this is a skyscraper and we're on the rooftop."
He clicks his tongue, but can't quite hide his amusement.
"Always ruining the fun. Is this your way of saying no?"
You lick your lips. Feel the goosebumps erupt as his lips trail down your neck.
"No."
"Hmm?" He plants another kiss. "So is it your way of saying yes?"
"No."
You repeat; and this time he actually leans back a bit, trying to figure out what you're aiming for.
"It's a ‘maybe when we get home’. We are not fucking in public, Ro, during your birthday, when all your friends are gonna be wondering where we both are."
His eyes don't stray away from yours. Then, he chuckles.
He doesn't know why he chuckles. Doesn't understand what about your commentary he found funny. Perhaps it's your way of being sensitive even when he's goofing around but totally ready to fuck you for real if you so much as ask.
But it feels familiar.
Safe.
No feelings, no depth—just the usual bullshit.
He likes it. Likes how your smirk looks softer now, under the moonlight, eyes crinkling at the corners, and fuck, he needs another sip of vanilla.
But the flask stays buried in his pocket.
And then you say, "c'mon, Rogue. Your fanclub's singing off-key Mariah Carey downstairs."
And he can't help but reply with a "fuck, really?"
"Taehyung's hitting whistle tones. It's apocalyptic."
He groans, pushing off the railing. "Fine. But you're explaining why I'm not drunk."
"Tell them you're a pastry chef now."
"Fuck you."
"When we get home—"
The rooftop door slams open with enough force to make both of you jump apart like startled cats.
Taehyung stands in the doorway, chest heaving, eyes wild as they scan the space before landing on Jungkook.
"Jesus fucking Christ," he breathes, voice tight with something that sounds suspiciously like genuine panic. "You're up here? On a rooftop?"
Jungkook stiffens beside you, his casual posture vanishing in an instant.
“Tae—"
"Are you fucking kidding me right now?"
Taehyung cuts him off, storming across the rooftop with the intensity of a small hurricane.
His eyes flick briefly to you, then back to Jungkook, who suddenly looks like he wants to melt into the concrete.
"A rooftop? Really?"
You glance between them, completely lost.
There's clearly something happening here that you're not privy to—some subtext that makes this more than just Taehyung being dramatic about Jungkook ditching his own party.
"It's fine," Jungkook says, his voice careful in a way you've never heard before. "I just needed some air."
"Air," Taehyung repeats, like the word tastes bitter. "Sure. Great. Because there's definitely not air anywhere else in this building."
His hands are shaking, you notice. Actually trembling.
"What the fuck, Kook."
"Tae," Jungkook steps forward, reaching for his friend's shoulder, "it's not like that. I swear. I'm okay."
Taehyung's eyes close briefly, his jaw working like he's grinding his teeth. When he opens them again, there's a vulnerability there that makes you feel like you're intruding on something intensely private.
"You can't just—" he starts, then stops, inhaling sharply. "You can't disappear and then be on a fucking rooftop, man. Not after—"
He cuts himself off again, shooting another glance your way.
"I'm sorry," Jungkook says quietly, and there's so much weight in those two words that your own chest tightens in response. "I didn't think about it like that. I just needed to get away for a minute, and this was the first place I found."
"Because you needed to get away," Taehyung says flatly, and there's a question buried in there somewhere.
Jungkook hesitates, his eyes darting to you for just a fraction of a second.
"Mia's downstairs. Or was. We ran into her in the hallway."
The change in Taehyung is immediate and alarming. His face drains of color, then flushes with anger so quickly it's like watching a stoplight change.
"Mia's here?" His voice drops to something dangerous and low. "That fucking—where is she? Did she say something to you? What did she do?"
"Nothing. She's gone," Jungkook says quickly, reaching out to grip Taehyung's arm like he's physically restraining him. "She was with some friends in another room. Just bumped into her on the way to the bathroom."
"And said what, exactly?" Taehyung demands, not even trying to hide his hostility now.
"Nothing important," Jungkook insists, though his tight expression suggests otherwise. "Just Mia being Mia. It's fine."
"It's clearly not fine if you're hiding on a rooftop," Taehyung snaps, then immediately looks like he regrets it. His shoulders slump slightly. "Fuck, I'm sorry. I didn't mean—I was just worried."
"I know," Jungkook says, and there's something so gentle in his tone that you feel like you're witnessing a side of him you've never seen before. "It's okay. I'm okay. Promise."
You shift awkwardly, suddenly very aware that you're intruding on something deeply personal.
“I should, uh, maybe head back downstairs," you offer, already taking a step toward the door.
Two pairs of eyes snap to you, like they'd forgotten you were there.
Jungkook looks caught between relief and something else—regret, maybe?—while Taehyung's expression is blank now.
"No, stay," Jungkook says quickly.
Too quickly.
Then, more casually: "I mean, we were about to head back anyway, right?"
"Right," you agree, though it feels like you're reading from a script you haven't seen before. "Mariah Carey and all that."
"God, they're still on that." Taehyung rolls his eyes, making a visible effort to shake off whatever just happened. "Hobi's been trying to hit the high note in 'Emotions' for like twenty minutes. It's a massacre."
"Can't be worse than your Eminem," you say, hoping to lighten the mood.
It works, sort of. Taehyung's mouth quirks up at one corner.
"Excuse you, I killed that performance."
"Yeah, killed it dead," you agree. "Like, murder. Homicide. Call the rap police."
Jungkook snorts, the tension in his shoulders easing slightly. "Rap police?"
"You know what I mean," you say, waving a hand dismissively. "Let's go save Mariah from Hobi before someone calls actual law enforcement."
As you all move toward the door, you notice Taehyung hanging back just enough to place a hand on Jungkook's shoulder, squeezing once—firm, grounding.
Jungkook nods, a tiny movement you almost miss, and something passes between them again—silent but significant.
But it's not your story to know. Not yet, anyway.
So you lead the way back inside, pretending you didn't notice the way Taehyung's hand shook as it fell back to his side, or the way Jungkook's smile didn't quite reach his eyes as he followed you through the door.
Some things are better left unasked. At least for now.

Your last assignment
MDNI !!!
summary: Professor!Spencer Reid x f!reader (student) smut, slight age gap because it's a college setting but nothing illegal
contents: teasing, praise, fingering, slight edging (f!recieving), slight bondage (f!recieving), p in v (unprotected), creampie, false sympathy
a/n: this is heavily inspired by my crush on my geography teacher lmfao
word count: 1.7k
Professor!Spencer Reid who pays a whole lot of attention to you in class. He's passionate about his subject, of course, and wants to make sure everyone understands it, but his eyes seem to linger on you for just a second longer when he asks questions to the class.
"Got it?" You swear he's looking right at you. You can almost feel his eyes move down from your neatly styled hair, down the open top buttons of your shirt, and trace your exposed legs. You readjust your position in your seat, trying to make the feeling in the bottom of your stomach disappear, and his gaze seems to lock onto your thighs. He clears his throat and looks away, continuing with his lesson.
Maybe you were just being delusional. After all, you did have little crush on him. Right as you were packing up your laptop and books, you hear his voice again. "Please stay after class, I have a question about your last assignment."
He must be talking to somebody else, you think, there's absolutely no way he wants to see me. But there he is, standing at the door, saying absent-minded goodbyes to the students as they leave the classroom, looking directly into your eyes.
Professor!Spencer Reid sits down at his desk as you approach him. You're not really sure how to act, as you'd never spoken to him one-on-one before. Whatever, you think, it's probably nothing.
"You... had a question about my assignment, sir?" You notice a tensing in his shoulders as the final word rolls off your tongue.
"No." You tilt your head in confusion.
"So why did you ask to see me?"
"Do you think it's appropriate to be turned on during class, miss?" Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck. You're wishing for the earth to open up and swallow you whole when he continues the conversation.
"Don't worry, I'm sure nobody else noticed. Back at the FBI, my job was literally to notice everything. Those skills don't just go away, you know?"
You don't know what to do with yourself other than to nod your head slightly, never looking up from your hands as you fidget with the hem of your plaid skirt.
His gaze settles on your hands, your skirt, and it continues roaming your body. You can't really tell if it's attraction or just behavioral analysis, until he speaks again.
"It's nothing to be nervous about, attraction is a natural human instinct. If it makes you feel better, I feel very attracted to you right now." He says it so matter-of-factly that you think it must be some kind of joke, your eyes shoot up to look at him and you simply can't help but laugh at the idea. He's probably just trying to ease your very apparent embarrassment.
Professor!Spencer Reid stands and walks towards you. He puts his hands onto the desk you're leaning against, pinning you to it. He notices you blushing and grins, looking down at you.
"How about this, sweetheart," your heart nearly explodes at the nickname, "I'll give you what you need, if you promise to stop distracting me during class. How's that sound?"
Need is an understatement for how you feel about this man. You nod your head once again, trying so so hard to keep eye contact.
"Use your words, pretty girl, come on." He doesn't move an inch, doesn't look away, doesn't say anything else.
"I promise, Mr. Reid." You look up at him and bite your lip. It feels like you're going to burn to death if he doesn't touch you soon.
"Oh fuck." He breathes out before wrapping an arm around your waist and kissing you. Softly at first, but it quickly turns into both of you letting out desperate breaths and groans as you tug at each other's clothes.
Professor!Spencer Reid who really takes his time pulling your panties down your legs, ignoring your whimpers and moans. He traces your thigh with his fingertips, slowing down when he gets closer to your pussy.
"Please, sir, I can't take it anymore–" You trail off when he finally brushes over your clit.
"I see you like me a lot, hm?" He teases as he rubs your clit in slow circles. You can't do much more than moan in response, nearly screaming when he pushes two fingers inside you.
He fingers you slowly, leaving bite marks and hickeys down your neck and chest. You're fairly certain this is what heaven feels like as you feel your orgasm building in your stomach.
Professor!Spencer Reid who pulls his fingers out right when you were about to cum, licking them clean before placing a gentle kiss on your lips.
"Aww it hurts, doesn't it? My poor girl." He pouts as you look for some type of friction on the smooth wood of his desk. You were so close, and now he's putting on this sympathy act as if it isn't his fault.
"Don't worry angel, I'll let you cum soon." He breathes out as he takes off his belt and ties it around your wrists in a swift movement.
It feels like minutes go by before he finally pushes his cock inside you and fuck, you're not sure this is going to last very long.
He groans out praises and swear words as he fucks you hard and slow. He lets go of the belt with one hand before moving it down between your legs, and when his thumb starts to circle your swollen clit, you feel like you're about to fall apart.
Professor!Spencer Reid who notices the way you tighten around him as your moans get louder. His name falls from your lips like a prayer and he fucking loves it.
"Fuck, baby, you're doing so good, let me feel you cum on my cock." How he's able to form a coherent sentence is beyond you. You can barely process his words when you finally reach your orgasm.
He cums too, not long after you, and the lust in his eyes almost increases as he watches his cum drip out of your still wet cunt.
He helps you get cleaned up and pull your underwear back up your shaky legs. You look up at him again through watery eyes, and he plants a gentle kiss on your lips.
"I don't think we're quite clear on that assignment yet. See me after my office hours on Monday?"
Your voice comes out coarse when you respond. "Mhm, I'll be there for sure."

HIGHER THAN HEAVEN | 최수빈
⟢ PAIRING: choi soobin x fem!reader ⟢ WORD COUNT: 10.3K ⟢ GENRE: fluff, angst, smut ⟢ TAGS: guardian angel!soobin, human!reader, mutual pining, sexual tension, dirty talking, nipple play, chest worship, fingering, unprotected sex ⟢ SYNOPSIS: Soobin, your devoted guardian angel, has one singular purpose in his ethereal existence: to bring your heart's deepest desires to life. Unbeknownst to him, his mere presence fulfills that desire. Yet, the lingering question remains— how can he effectively transform your most intimate dreams into reality? LINK TO PLAYLIST! ⟢ AUTHOR'S NOTE: First fic of 2025! I’d like to thank @lovetaroandtaemin, @chugging-antiseptic-dye, @ylangelegy, @gyubakeries, and @xomakara for beta-reading this fic for me, I know it was a quick journey and I appreciate every one of you who followed the story from the beginning to the end 🤍.
The time fills as plastic shot glasses and empty solo cups discarded into trash bags. Some stragglers of the party lay on the couch or floor, but you pass by them with ease. You sigh before Beomgyu stops you with a sharp tug. "Dude, you don't have to help me. You're supposed to be one of my guests!"
"I'm just avoiding the inevitable tomorrow. And if you come into the shelter late because you procrastinated cleaning your own apartment, I may just kill you."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get it, boss.” He rolls his eyes and unfurls the empty bag you had between your hands moments before. You giggle in earnest.
“If I get a single text, Gyu–”
“Why don’t you enjoy the early morning hours of New Year's and get out of here?" He shoves you towards the door of his apartment with an "I love you” to follow you out, determined to do what you swear he won't without your help.
Beomgyu may be your childhood friend, but habits hold on tight with him. It’s clear from the three years he’s worked at your animal shelter. Your parents always said he has good intentions, although he’s brash in decision-making. "The kid just asks for forgiveness more than permission most of the time," your dad would joke, and Beomgyu wouldn’t disagree.
Your parents’ words replay in your head on the walk home. You hear every piece of parental advice with each step on the cobblestones, the clack or your heels accompanying every word. It's customary on New Years to feel the ache of their absence so strongly. Your thoughts of them are as vivid as the pain of their loss. It seems to haunt you more with every year that passes.
One day, you had been tagging new intakes and cleaning food bowls like normal. The next you were receiving the call that your parents had been in a fatal car accident. Every space they inhabited, including the shelter, felt colder, quieter, a little less like home. Even your own house twenty minutes from your job barely felt like your own.
Five years of grief made the pain manageable, but on nights like tonight, it doesn’t feel like you’ve made much progress..
The cold of January accompanies the repetitive emotional and mental cycle you're on. The weather bites with a hard set of teeth, almost more brutal than the traces of sadness you feel in your heart.
You don’t realize amid the somber trek home how close the surrounding shadows are, one of a stranger within an arm’s distance.
Your animals greet you at your door with perky barks and whooshing tails. Mina and Minho, your two tabby cats, seem to be delighted that you’re back, but save the ecstatic greetings for their canine siblings. Key, your senior chihuahua, does what he can energy-wise compared to Bori, your labrador mix.
“Bobo, please,” you beg as she jumps up on you when you kneel at her eye-level. It’s all a mess of slobbering tongue and eager pants with her. Once she’s done, you rub Key between the ears to give him some affection.
Even your hedgehog, Rio, taps against the glass of his enclosure to say hello to you. It’s almost like every pair of animal eyes asks you how the party went and why you left them alone for so long.
You can’t supply them with an answer, because you notice the person-shaped figure at your kitchen counter, silent and clouded in darkness. The sight makes you release a decibel-breaking scream.
You grab an umbrella from the iron wrack near your door and charge to the kitchen, expecting Key and Bori to follow you and bark aggressively at the intruder. They don’t, but they do pad behind you in curiosity at your strange actions.
They barely react at all when you turn on the light in the small kitchen. The new illumination reveals the black-haired stranger dressed in white. He says nothing, but holds a smile of mirth on his face at your line of defense. He's neither scrawny nor muscular, but towers over you to a surreal degree.
You think you can take him if you have the element of surprise, but with the alcohol still buzzing through your veins, you may lack complete hand-eye coordination. It’s anyone’s guess.
“What do you want? If you’re looking for money, you got the wrong house, buddy.” You say with a steady voice, aiming the sharpest point of the umbrella in his direction.
He smiles wide, pearly teeth and a set of dimples almost blinding you. “I’m Soobin.”
His lack of an answer and warm smile throw you off. It’s definitely not the reaction anyone expects from a burglar. Maybe the guy's intoxication is even greater than yours, enabling him to enter someone's home without permission. No matter the reasons, you don’t release your hold on the umbrella. You stare him down hard despite your shaking hands.
“Well…Soobin…I don’t know what you want, but you’re not gonna find it here.”
“I’m in the exact place I need to be.” He says your name with the same level of warmth that remains in his smile, but your blood runs cold at the fact he is aware of who you are. Was he stalking you? Had he stopped by the animal shelter while you were too busy to make a mental note of him? “Put down the umbrella and we–”
“Get the fuck out of my house, you creep!” You raise the umbrella as high as you can before it falls on his head, shoulders, or any location on his body that will stun him. He knows it’s coming, though.
Soobin somehow materializes right in front of you before you can step forward, taking your wrists gently in one hand to stop you. “There’s no need for that. I’m not here to harm you.”
You struggle in his hold, trying your hardest to release yourself from his grip with all of your might. Then, you freeze, unsure of how both his speed and his lack of alarm to your furry animals makes any logical sense.
Soobin senses your lack of effort to go through with your attack and lets go of you, taking a small breath of air. “Will you drop the umbrella?”
“Once you tell me what you are,” you whisper. “My dogs would have ripped off your ankles by now, but they didn’t. Why?”
Soobin chuckles, but you feel anything but humorous. “The why to that question is a bit hard to explain. But I can tell you why I’m here.” He runs a hand through his hair, suddenly bashful. “Let’s just say I have a mission to complete.”
Soobin sits at one end of the couch, hands in his lap, while you sit on the other. Your dogs lay at the edge of the couch, snoring peacefully now that the chaos is over. Your knees sit tight against your chest, still guarding yourself from him or any potential advances he may make.
You may not think he wants to kill or rob you anymore, but that doesn’t mean you’re immediately trusting of the stranger. One that is no doubt breathtaking, but still hiding his intentions.
You size him up, still unsure how or why the guy is familiar with you when you’ve never seen him before. He can barely provide you with an adequate answer for the questions that pop into your head.
Where are you from? How do you know me? Have we ever met before?
He chuckles at each one, continuing on with the same reflexive response. “Proprietary information.”
You roll your eyes. “Every time you say that, you sound like some kind of spy.” You move closer to his spot on the couch, looking at him with more intensity than before.
The analysis makes him laugh even more, his cheeks turning pink. “I’m not an alien, if that was your second guess.”
“That’s not what I was thinking!”
He quirks an eyebrow at you. “You look like you’re about to cut me open with a scalpel.”
Your lips transform into a firm line. “Should I want to, Soobin? Maybe you’re saying you’re not an alien to throw me off.”
“Trust me, I am not an extraterrestrial. Not cool enough.”
You can’t help but laugh at the ridiculous situation you find yourself in, matching the smile on Soobin’s face with your own. An hour ago, you were about to kill him in self-defense for what you assumed was a classic break-in scenario. Now, you’re laughing with your would-be victim. This has to be the most peculiar first day of the year you’ve ever had.
He claps his hands softly on his white denim jeans. “We should call it a night. You’re probably tired. I can explain more tomorrow, if you’d like.”
You look around your house, unsure where Soobin is planning to stay for the next few hours. The one-bed-and-bath cottage is anything but roomy, most of your space taken up by work supplies or your animals’ stuff.
He senses your trepidation and grins. “Don’t worry, I can come back in the morning.”
You suck in a breath. Most of you feels relief, but there’s a small inkling of sadness that pervades your emotions. You barely know Soobin, but his presence provides a warmth that your home has been missing.
It has to be the last traces of alcohol and the simmering grief still in your system.
“Okay. I have work in the morning, but–”
“I’ll be here before you have to leave,” Soobin cuts you off. He holds his hand out in a goodbye, and you take it. His soft palm meets yours and heats your skin, and you have to cut the parting short to not feel any more flustered.
“See you tomorrow.”
“Goodnight, love.” He leaves you with one more grin before he exits, confusing you further.
The touch of his fingertips on you follows you into sleep, his skin the last coherent sensation you have before it all goes black.
There is a murky quality to the dream you find yourself in. You’re surrounded by grey, the color’s opacity fading only partly as the details become clearer.
The room around you looks more like a cavern than a traditional room. It’s made of stone, cavelike and primitive. The entrance to the area is too vast for a normal door. It’s almost as if you could step out and fall into nothing but clouds. The world outside is a mixture of inky blacks and dark blues, signifying nighttime outside the four rocky walls.
You look back to the inside of the space. It holds a desk covered with paperwork and photographs. You’re alone, standing in the center of it all, but too far away from the papers on the table to see any information.
Before you can step closer, Soobin enters with a blonde man hot on his heels. They both walk right through you, seemingly not noticing your presence at all as they continue their discussion.
They emit their own light somehow, the room nowhere near as dark as when you were alone inside of it.
“If you fail at this, Yeonjun will demote you and have no qualms about doing it.” The blonde man ruffles his hair in frustration, and inches closer to Soobin. They clearly have a close relationship, from the concern on the stranger’s face to the hand that he rests on Soobin's shoulder. “You’ve worked too hard to lose everything, Soobin.”
“I know, Hyuka,” Soobin says in a somber tone, sorting through the papers on his desk. “But she needs me now more than ever. And I know I can help. And if I succeed, I can actually—“
“I get it. We’re just not supposed to get involved unless we’re certain about it. You know this.”
Soobin sighs. “You didn’t see her, Kai. I have to.”
The man named Kai exhales a deep breath and walks away, his pleas seeming to hit a brick wall. The last thing he says, “I hope you know what you’re risking,” barely makes it to your ears. All you notice before Kai’s departure is the unfurling of wings from his back, the white and gray feathers spouting from the tendons just below his shoulders.
You scream when he drops from the entrance, his wings carrying him away. You don’t care if the sound alerts either of the two men, not after witnessing such an unrealistic moment.
You scream again when you hear the unfurling of Soobin’s wings, the sound almost whipping you onto your back from the gust his wings emit. They’re dark grey, larger than Kai’s are. They create such long-casting shadows that you have no question now what Soobin is or where he comes from.
The word replays in your mind as the surrounding scene dematerializes and you wake up with a rapid heartbeat: an angel.
Soobin waits at your door in the same white button-up and jeans he had on the night prior. You welcome him inside, and he looks more ethereal somehow in daylight.
The dream hits you again with its full force, the image of his grey wings flashing across your memory.
“So, you’re an angel,” You say, filling the space between you both with a new tension. The anxiety only permeates from you; Soobin exudes an air of calm instead, despite your accusation.
He almost ticks his head down in a nod as he responds with the words, “Proprietary information.”
You nod your head and gulp hard. Somehow, the aura around you and the subtext in his expression tells you what you know to be true.
He showed you all you needed to know last night through your dreams, a miraculous loophole to the restrictions placed upon him.
When you’re finally ready to go to work, the morning chores around the house finished before Soobin even made it to your doorstep, you look over at the man in front of you again with trepidation. The white attire may lead to a multitude of questions that you and Soobin cannot answer.
“What? Is there something on my face?” Soobin asks, confused.
You laugh and shake your head, any residual tension from your realization broken. “You look a bit too…uniform for the shelter.”
“Oh! Well…” He blushes, unsure how to respond.
An idea pops into your head when his words come up short. “I may have some old stuff that’ll fit you.”
“Why is the rando wearing your dad’s windbreaker?” Beomgyu asks while cleaning Jin, the newest adoptee at the shelter. His eyes peer over at Soobin filling some food bowls with kibble. Soobin’s presence fills the space the same way it did in your house.
He wears your dad’s long-sleeve shirt, windbreaker, and khaki pants well. Despite his freakishly tall height, the clothes don’t look small on him, and you’re relieved he’s able to fit in like any normal guy with the change in wardrobe.
You scoff, continuing to fill out the documents for Jin’s tag and vaccinations without looking up at your friend. “Soobin’s new in town and lost everything on the plane ride here. He just needed to borrow some stuff until his luggage gets delivered.”
Beomgyu nods, still concerned. He goes back to scrubbing Jin’s coat with the anti-tick shampoo, and you leave his spot at the cleaning station to stand beside Soobin.
“You do this every day? These bags are heavy, even for me.” Soobin grunts and clips the bag closed.
“I usually make Gyu or another volunteer do it. But you saved me the trouble of asking.” You smirk and take two of the bowls in your hands. “Want to help me feed the dogs?”
Soobin’s eyes light up, and he nods. You wonder as you walk to the cages if he’s ever interacted with animals before he left his home in the skies.
Since you were a kid, the shelter has always been a part of your daily regimen. Once college was out of the way, you had a stable job waiting for you to practice your veterinary degree on. While some could only handle so many cat scratches, dog poops, and absurd origin stories, it made every day worth it in your eyes. And the fact that you had a history with tending to furry friends with your parents only made it more worthwhile to continue doing.
The second you open the cages to let the dogs eat, you recognize how natural Soobin is at the job. He talks to them in a childlike voice and rubs their bellies as they munch on kibble and necessary medicines you give in between feeding. Even the dogs with the rougher backgrounds take to Soobin like a bee to honey, the warmth he naturally exudes relaxing them.
He truly is an angel, you realize, and not just in the literal sense.
You lock up the shelter for the day with a lot less weight on your shoulders thanks to Soobin. “I might as well give you the keys to this place. It suits you well,” you joke.
Soobin tucks his hands into his windbreaker, smiling hard. “It just came easy, I guess. Animals aren’t like people. They don’t have to hide behind words. It’s all about energy.”
You look at him as you walk away from the building together, your face softened from his words. “My mom always used to say stuff like that. To her, animals were the bestest friends you could ever ask for. She’d say it’s like they see into your soul.”
Soobin grins. “She seems lovely.”
You swallow hard, balling your hands into fists inside your jacket. It’s not anger that permeates your body now, not the way it used to. All that exists is the reality that their words are simply memories. “She was. My dad too. That place was their second home.” You wave your arm in the direction of the shelter. The building diminishes from view as you round the corner to head home. “And mine, too.”
“Did you envision this being your life?” Soobin asks, the question taking you by surprise. “I don’t mean to pry.”
“No, it’s okay!” You laugh. “I mean—I love working with the animals every day, and I have great friends. It just can be very routine sometimes, like there’s this gap that I can’t fill.” You hold back the more intimate details of your desires to Soobin, still guarded and uncertain of being so vulnerable so soon.
He steps closer, the walk becoming more intimate with his shoulder almost brushing yours. “You’ve been alone for quite a while. It’s understandable to want to share your life with someone.”
You blush hard, a mixture of the January cold and his correct assumptions building a steady heat on your cheeks. “That’s what most people want, I guess.”
Eyes widening, you realize now why Soobin may be discussing these things with you. Could his super secret mission, which he discussed the night you met, relate to right now?
“No fucking way,” you whisper to yourself, stopping on the stone street. Soobin only gets a few paces farther than you before he stops.
“Is there something wrong?” He asks, his eyebrows drawn up and his mouth in a small O that you would normally giggle at.
Now, you have no time for humor.
“Did you come here because of the stupid wish I made on New Year’s Eve?”
“Taehyun, if you give me another shot, I will throw up!” You exclaim in a fit of giggles, three drinks already in your system over the last hour and a half. His girlfriend, Kazuha, stands by your side as she downs the shot in her hand, her mouth puckering as she swallows it down. “Zu, I thought you were the DD tonight!”
“Fuck it, I’ll call an Uber.” She winks and chases the shot with a sip of beer. Beomgyu wades through the throng of people in his living room to join all of you in the kitchen.
“Taking shots without me? That’s a party foul.”
“Whatever, man. It’s not like we can’t make more.” Taehyun passes him one filled with tequila to catch up, and Beomgyu downs it in the next second. By the time the buzz of the drinks hits your head, Jungwon barrels into the kitchen with his own girlfriend Yeri to tell you all that the ball is dropping.
Everyone crowds around the television to watch the remaining minute of the year play out. The strangers around you scream out the last seconds, others speak in a drunken lilt.
You turn to your friends, somehow the only person without someone attached to their hip. Beomgyu is holding a random girl's shoulder, while your other friends stand closely together in their respective couples, watching the countdown..
“Four, three, two, one! Happy New Year!” Beomgyu says the words into his date’s neck before kissing her roughly on the lips. Your other friends have their own celebratory make-out sessions. You feel like an intruder as they all enjoy the moment in their respective couples.
You’ve never been a grouch about your single status, not once. But it felt like a part of you was missing out with little of a choice in the matter. Whether by the confines of chance or love simply not being meant for you for the past twenty-seven years, you can only be comfortable for so long before the pain of solitude drains you dry.
Was it so awful to want to find someone to share funny videos with? To talk to about days at the shelter when a cute animal comes in and needs a loving home? When days are heavy on your heart and you need the one you love the most to lift you up and make it all evaporate with a simple “I love you”? To make every struggle and hardship, no matter how big or small, worth it?
And so, with only a drunken mind and heart to listen to your deepest whims, you wish for what seems the most out of reach as your eyes line with tears: a soulmate to bridge the gap between your loneliness and true fulfillment.
When the reality of why Soobin’s here hits you, you can’t help but release one of the loudest laughs you’ve ever emitted before.
“You have to be fucking kidding me,” you say with exasperated breaths, all the air in your lungs saved mostly for your laughter. “You came all the way from up there to play matchmaker?”
Soobin chuckles to himself, the sounds that leave his lips a lot quieter than yours. “You make it sound so childish.”
“Can you blame me?” You ask. “I don’t need help in that department!”
Soobin gives you a knowing look, hitting you somewhere deep in the chest. “Then I wouldn’t be here, would I?”
“Okay, don’t speak in riddles to me!”
“I’m just stating facts, love.”
You roll your eyes, and Soobin laughs again. “So you’re magically going to find me the perfect partner after only knowing me for 48 hours?”
“I’ve known you for much longer than that.” He steps even closer to you, your fingers brushing his as he stands a few inches from you. “But again, it’s—“
“Proprietary information, I get it,” you whisper. You cough into your fist and glide past him, the moment broken. “Either way, I am just fine with or without a boyfriend, Soobin.”
He follows behind without a word, but you sense his smile without looking at him. Jerk.
Soobin has helped many people in his immortal life. It’s an existence he couldn’t fill in just one book. He’d have to go back centuries to the very moment he started his work as a guardian. His life began long before that, but his true merits came when he started helping those who needed supernatural guidance.
He’s seen from his eagle’s eye view many heartbreaks, losses, successes, and love stories, but nothing as encapsulating as the story of your life.
You were a vision to see the first time you held an animal in your hands, hands tepid but heart full from the creature giving all of its affection to you for you to reciprocate wholeheartedly. He was in awe of you when you stepped across the stage with your degree, eager to put all the knowledge you gained about medicine to a good use. And his ever-still heart ached with yours the second you got that phone call in November five years ago, wanting nothing more than to catch you before your knees hit the tile below.
You’re the one assignment he’s kept too close an eye on, the others in his caseload not holding his focus so strongly. He succumbed to forbidden desires, wishes he knew were unattainable.
But the second he felt your heart break on the one night he knew he could seize the chance to step over the border between Heaven and Earth, he chose the only option that felt right: he had to leave home and heal what needed to be mended inside of you a long time ago.
He watches you help the teenage girl adopting her first pet with immense adoration.
You check off the supplies needed for Jin and all the vaccines the dog will need moving forward with clinical focus. It’s admirable how dedicated you are to your work, not caring if it went beyond the bounds of a traditional work-life balance.
And when you wave the teenager and her parents out the door and turn to him with a signature eye-roll, he can’t stop the way his skin heats. Your gaze in his direction screams: How long are you going to keep pestering me?
Forever, he says to himself with a hell of a lot of hope.
When you’re both alone in the shelter, one hour after you’re closed for the day, you sweep the floors in a huff. “I am telling you I do not need you to play matchmaker for me.”
“You keep saying that and yet I’m still here, love,” Soobin tuts, flipping through the magazine on top of your desk. He sits at the chair opposite from the receptionist counter so casually, feet crossed and casual despite his heart yearning to explain everything to you.
I’m here because I can’t take any more of your pain. Because someone deserves to know how special you are. Because I—
“I can find a date without your help. Beomgyu already took up that role a long time ago. He’s been pestering me about going out with his friend Heeseung for months. So there.” You stick your tongue out at him and continue sweeping.
Soobin chuckles to himself and flips to another page of the magazine, but he can’t deny how his focus remains on you, the center of his attention, for longer than he expected.
“Lee Heeseung, twenty-two. Works at the ramen shop downtown. Entirely incompatible with you. Just for your information.”
You stop sweeping and aim an accusatory eye at him. “And that’s not proprietary information how?”
“I’m not looking out for him. And that only took a couple of Google searches to figure out, love.”
By the time you lock up the store, Soobin is in the habit of checking the door behind you to make sure you didn’t miss the back door or forget to close the play-gate on the way out. Two weeks of observing your routine up close has given him incredible intel, and not just into your schedule.
“Let’s walk past downtown,” Soobin suggests, taking your hand and walking through a new pattern of alleyways and cobblestone paths.
You’re unsure why this route that adds another ten minutes to your walk is worth the trouble, but you take his advice, anyway. He’s your angel for a reason, after all.
“Soobin, unless you suddenly got a hankering for human food, we really should—“
You knock into someone’s shoulders hard; the impact sends you to the gravel. Soobin vanishes from view, his name on your tongue the second you recognize that you’re on the ground.
A pair of hands that aren’t Soobin’s, more calloused and robust, lift you up off the ground.
“I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have been standing so close to the alleyway.”
A beautiful pair of brown eyes gaze at yours, and it stops you dead in your tracks. The stranger’s brown hair falls over his face in a mess of free curls, some of them tinged with sweat. He wears a baking apron around his waist; flour and, you presume, icing cover his shirt.
You look at the building next to you, the pastel pink sign reading “Gyu’s Baked Goods” beaming over your head. And you turn back to the man in question, the baker himself as his hands keep you sturdy on your scraped feet.
“It’s totally fine. I’m the one who should be sorry. I mean, I wasn’t looking anyway and I—“
“No, you don’t have to apologize. This is what I get for taking a smoke break when I have cupcakes to make, right?” The baker chuckles and releases you. Your heart thumps at a rapid tempo when he holds his hand out to you. “I’m Mingyu. Sorry I’m built like a mountain.”
You chuckle and take his hand, the handshake gentle for the size of his palm. It reminds you of a sturdy fireplace, strong but tender. “Pleased to meet you. Apologies for having the build of a leaf.”
Soobin looks on with a knot in his stomach from an opposite alleyway. The process has begun, and he cannot halt its progress. No matter if he wants to be the one in the human male’s place.
Soobin watches on as Mingyu stands with you by the kennels, acid simmering on his tongue from watching the two of you in such a chummy position.
He clutches the novel in his hands with intense pressure, on the edge of ripping pages between his fingers. For the past week and a half, you and Mingyu have spent time together as new acquaintances, giving Sobbing time to read mortal literature.
He should be happy for you; his initial plan to find someone who fits your life and wishes so well is going perfectly. Yet why does he wish he could rewind time and take it back?
To your pleasure and Soobin’s secret dismay, Mingyu’s surprise gift of homemade mini animal treats made the day an amazing experience for all three of you.
You pay no mind to Soobin’s sudden and off-putting sulking as you show Mingyu around the animal shelter, your new friend interested in your job as much as you’re intrigued by him.
Beomgyu saunters up to Soobin with a bag of kibble in his hands, clicking his tongue. “It’s tough, isn’t it, man?”
Soobin huffs and looks at the younger man, the aura around your friend similar to his back home. If only Kai could see him now, grumbling and pouting like a kicked puppy.
“What is?”
“Seeing the girl you like with someone else. I mean, she’s pretty great so I get it.”
Soobin rolls his eyes and goes back to the novel in his hands to distract himself. His jaw ticks when he hears your laughter. The sound creates such a beautiful symphony to his ears, but it’s not reserved for him at the moment, and it makes his stomach turn. “You’re wrong.”
“Okay, dude. I get it. None of my business.” Beomgyu lifts the bag over his shoulder and starts walking, but looks back at Soobin with a smirk. “But maybe it might be mutual if you gave it a shot.”
Soobin scoffs at the kid, and then at himself for the split second he entertains the idiot’s idea. Soobin can pine all he wants, but he knows the boundaries. A multitude of reasons prevent this line from ever being crossed.
He may have incredibly powerful feelings for you, but they’re hidden away and unable to reach the light of day. Not just because he has a strategy for you and Mingyu, but he is not an acceptable suitor because he doesn’t belong here, simply put. Earth is only a temporary stay on his list. And when he goes back and reports to Yeonjun of his success, who knows what will happen?
All he knows is that your paths will cross only once in his and your lifetime, and never again.
Soobin almost remains stuck in his misery until you walk up to him with an orange icing-colored dog bone treat in your hands. You hold it out to him with a shy smile. “For you.”
He smirks, taking the snack from you and rotating it between his fingers. “Isn’t this for the dogs, love?”
And the signature eye roll comes, your bottom lip between your teeth as you do it. “They’re organic. Anyone can eat them.” You look back at him directly, suddenly concerned. “You can eat, right?”
He chuckles. Nodding his head, he looks back at the snack. “Just not sure if I’ll like it.”
You stick your tongue out at him. “Just try it, please?”
Reluctantly, he bites down. Sweet potatoes and carrots, harmoniously blended, flood his mouth. The icing and pinch of cinnamon provides the perfect level of sweetness to round it all out, and Soobin groans. Even the dog treats the guy makes are perfect.
“Okay, it’s pretty great,” Soobin admits, taking another bite. “Even if they’re meant for dogs.”
You laugh and take a tiny corner for yourself. “At least you can say you’ve eaten a dog bone.”
Soobin’s tender smile makes you blush, and it stirs up all the feelings you’ve suppressed when you’re not in his presence. Mingyu’s a welcome distraction from it all. His looks and personality are undeniably attractive, but you always circle back to the angel in your midst.
Who can blame you? He’s ethereal, his magnetism undeniable. But that warmth he’s had from the first day you met is why you can only stay away for so long. He’s a part of your world now, and you can’t imagine that changing in the foreseeable future.
He’s made his place on Earth with you, and you dread the day he has to go back to where he belongs.
The end of January brings the last time for branches to stay vacant of leaves. You notice the small sprouts of leaves amidst the brown limbs as you and Soobin walk back to your house. You bite back a smile, and Soobin comments on it.
It’s like he clenches your heart between his fingers as he says it. “You always hide your excitement like nobody should be watching. Like it’s wrong to be happy about the little things.”
You blush while strolling beside him. “It’s not that I’m hiding it. Maybe I just don’t think anyone will get why I’m happy about certain things.”
Soobin bumps you with his shoulder, a close-mouthed smile on his lips. “Try me.”
You exhale a breath to get your bearings. “Okay, so everyone is always excited about the start of the new year. But then it’s like the excitement dies down and we just go on our merry way until the next holiday comes up. It’s not in the days for me. It’s the environment that always makes me feel the shift, you know?
“Like with animals, almost. The energy is unique, and I feel it when I see the colors and feel the temperature fluctuate.” You shake your head and tuck a stray hair behind your ear. “That may sound stupid, but—“
Soobin stops you on the open sidewalk, taking your hand in his. He looks into your eyes earnestly, wanting you to take his words to heart before he says them. “Nothing you’ve ever said to me is stupid, love. Every thought you have is beautiful because it’s yours.”
Like the town greenery, something shifts inside of you then. Even on the rest of the walk home and the talk over dinner about the day at the shelter, you sense an unfamiliar emotion swirling in the air between you and Soobin. You can’t name it, but it reminds you of the first blooms of spring, brimming with promise.
The first week of February comes in a tidal wave. Many people flood the animal shelter looking for the perfect furry friend to complete their family on the cusp of Valentine’s Day.
All you can hope for is that a majority of them, or at least fifty percent, don’t come back to the shelter after the holiday is over to return the animals looking for forever homes.
That was the one thing that bugged you the most about this job: biting your tongue at the obvious lack of responsibility people put into owning pets.
It holds more weight than anyone knows, bringing another being in your home to tend to like a child. The only difference is that many of them have histories that deserve more care than normal, and some don’t want to put in the right amount of effort.
You sit on these thoughts as Soobin holds the newest cat to the shelter in his hands. “Have you thought of a name for Mr. Cat yet?” Soobin inspects the spot near the cat’s tail. “Or Missus?”
You giggle and grab the clipboard with the cat’s information on it. “He’s a he, Soob. You can come up with a name.”
He ponders the choices, before his smile grows and he presses his nose to the cat’s. “How about Hyuka?” He rubs the back of the cat’s ears tenderly.
You grin at Soobin and brush your fingers over Hyuka’s fur. “I think it’s a perfect fit.”
Soobin looks over at you with bright eyes, his expression transforming into one that feels like the one you held that day so long ago when he called your thoughts beautiful. A question forms on his tongue, but it flits away the second Mingyu walks through the double doors of the animal shelter with a bouquet of daisies.
At least the jerk knows your favorite flowers, Soobin thinks to himself as he walks with Hyuka back to his block in the back room.
You smile at Mingyu and thank him for the flowers, immediately pressing your nose to them to inhale their smell. “They’re amazing, thank you.”
“My buddy Wonwoo is a florist, so don’t thank me too much. I got a discount even though I should’ve paid full price.”
“Can’t beat a couple bucks off.” You set the bundle down on your desk and cross your arms over the countertop. “I take it you’re not just here to deliver flowers?”
Mingyu chuckles and presses a hand to his neck, his toned biceps stretching out his shirt. “Actually, I was going to ask if you had any plans for Valentine’s.”
You stumble on your explanation, discussing the closure of the shelter for the holiday. “Well,” Mingyu starts, “I was thinking you could come by for dinner. And I promise it won’t just be me making you taste test cupcakes again.”
You laugh, but the sound falls flat. You had always been the one pining, yearning for the boy you liked to like you back. Being on the other side of the coin was not exactly ideal. “Mingyu, you know I appreciate you and I am flattered, but…”
Soobin.
You’re unsure how to continue, but Mingyu holds a hand up in understanding. “I get it. How about I make you a meal, anyway? Consider it a friend treating a friend for all of her hard work.”
You blush and nod. “I’d like that very much.”
You’re washing dried-up wet food from the cat bowls when Soobin walks up to you, his face red. By the time Mingyu left, you expected Soobin to come back to your side so you could wash the dishes together. You did it yourself, seeing as he took forever to come back. Soobin asks with a tone of authority, “What the hell are you thinking?”
You poke your cheek with your tongue, contemplating. “I’m thinking Hyuka’s chances of getting adopted before Valentine’s is about—“
“You know that wasn’t what I meant, love.” He says the pet name with annoyance as he drops one bowl into the sink next to you. His tone catches you off guard, not expecting to see Soobin angry for the first time like this.
“You asked me what I was thinking, and I’m telling you.”
“Why did you say no to the date?” Soobin asks, his eyes blazing with fury. Something without a name sits below though, you can tell.
“I, technically, didn’t say no. It’s just more friendly than romantic.”
“Do you expect me to find you another soulmate like this?” Soobin drops another dirty plate in the sink for you to clean up. You don’t know if the question is exactly for you or for himself.
The tension sits thickly in the air, the running tap the only sound for a good minute or two. “I’m sure you’ll think of something,” you respond, hoping to ease the awkwardness.
Your cheekiness makes Soobin chuckle deeply. You missed his laugh, you realize, not hearing the sound in a while. Not since before Mingyu came around. “What am I gonna do with you, love?”
You shrug and go back to washing the bowls, hiding your smile behind soap suds and dishwater.
Soobin’s leg shakes as he sits on your couch, watching the clock on the spot above your door. 10:49 PM. He’s been waiting for hours to welcome you home from your “friendly” date with Mingyu. Admittedly, he’s been waiting since the second you left, the night of Valentine’s Day on the forefront of his brain since he heard the meathead ask you to have dinner.
Minho and Key keep him company, the older animals in your horde understanding and patient while Soobin mopes around. The angel feels as impatient as Bori can be when she has to wait for dinner.
“Don’t look at me like that,” Soobin says to Key, the chihuahua’s overbite hanging almost like a taunt. “I’m not stewing.”
He’s definitely stewing. The animals must be saying to each other, conspiring about what will occur when their mother finally gets home.
And on the cusp of eleven, you walk into the house and unbuckle your heels. You watch Soobin on the couch, his hands fidgeting on his lap. “Have you been sitting there for three hours?” You ask in a cute tone that drives Soobin nuts.
“No, I made the animals dinner.” You set your bag on the iron wrack where your coats lie, and throw your shoes in some corner of the living room before Soobin continues with, “So, how was the date?”
You stride to the mirror, beginning to unclasp the flashy studs in your ears. “It was fine. Nothing special. Just two friends having dinner.”
“That’s all it was? No candles at the table, no romantic music, nothing?”
“Why are you so concerned, Soobin? I went out, I had fun, now I’m home.” Soobin’s not prepared to hear your voice so clipped and direct. Your frustration is usually a mask of humor or concern. Not genuine anger, like right now. You don’t look at him directly, continuing to remove your jewelry as your ire grows.
You try to de-escalate the argument by retreating to the kitchen, but he only follows you there. And moving back into the living doesn’t help either. “Stop following me, Soobin!”
“Stop running away,” he barks back.
“I will when you stop making a big deal out of this.”
“It is a big deal,” he says with a scoff. “And am I not allowed to worry about you and who you’re with?” He asks with a bite that matches your irritation.
“Why are you so concerned if Mingyu’s the person you wanted to set me up with in the first place?”
“Don’t ask me that question,” he whispers. His jaw tightens and his hands clam up, but you don’t give in. If he wants to finish the discussion, then you’ll continue to press him for an answer.
“Why? What kind of ‘proprietary information’ relates to how you feel about this? What does me going out with Mingyu and you being a complete ass about it have anything to do with top-secret intel?”
“I love you, alright?!” He yells, standing stock still as his veins pulse in his head and neck. His hands go to the messy strands of his hair, almost like he feels himself going crazy at his own confession. “I did not mean to, and it’s awful. I can’t give you the life you deserve. Someone like Mingyu or any other human man would be lucky to have you, yet I can barely stomach the thought of someone else getting to touch you in all the ways I wish I could. And it’s driving me insane.”
The confession knocks something loose inside of you, remaining inhibitions be damned if it means now that the feelings Soobin harbors mirror your own without a doubt.
You step closer to him, the tension almost too much to bear any longer. You press your hands to his neck, and bring him closer until your lips are a mere inch apart. “Nothing and nobody’s stopping you, Soobin.”
He takes a deep breath to hold himself back, grounding himself so he doesn’t do something that will upend both of your worlds. “You don’t know that, love.”
You chuckle softly. “Maybe not, but I do know that I love you too.”
When you brush his mouth with your own, every being in the universe, heavenly or not, ceases to exist in your mind. It’s only you and Soobin in your own world. You want to kick yourself for taking so long to seize this moment, this kiss, with him. For all of the reasons Soobin supplies as to why it’s wrong for the two of you to be together, this could not feel more right.
Soobin only gives himself a second of separation from you to catch his breath before he dives back in for one, two, three more kisses. He moans eagerly into your mouth. He tugs on the fabric of your dress to occupy his hands, his body hungry for any contact he can get.
Heavens do be damned, if it means he can keep you between his arms and against his lips.
Your back hits the bed as Soobin attaches his lips to your neck. The dogs scratch at the locked door of your bedroom, but you know they’ll give up after another minute of waiting for a result that will never come. You have other priorities to tend to.
Soobin’s lips and teeth mark you up as he travels along your skin with his mouth. He removes your dress and his shirt so your skin is in closer contact, the feeling of his every present warmth lighting you from the inside out. Your undergarments are still in the way, but you know they’ll be discarded soon.
“You do not know how many days I wished for this,” he mumbles into the spot between your breasts, his kisses setting you on fire to the point you can barely tell where he’s going next. He unclasps the clips holding your bra together, your top half now bare for his eyes to witness.
He marvels at the fullness of your chest before he takes one of your nipples into his mouth. He licks at the skin as he suckles. The action pulls a moan from your lips, your body thrusting up at nothing but open air.
“You can touch me in other ways, Soobin,” you gasp, taking his hand in yours and intertwining your fingers.
He blushes a deep crimson, releasing your nipple from his lips. “I don’t know how,” he admits.
You take his hand to guide lower to the top of your underwear, urging him to slip his hand inside. He does so, immediately finding the wetness of your folds against his fingertips. “You can move them around—just like that.”
He takes your advice and expertly finds your clit to take between his thumb and index finger. Your hips buck up into his touch, and he smirks against your lips. He asks, “Is this what you like?”
“Yes, please.” He takes your underwear off to freely glide his fingers in and out of you, three of the digits simultaneously filling you but leaving you aching for more. “Please, Soobin, please,” you beg.
“What do you want, my love? Don’t hold back.”
“I want you inside of me,” you confess. He listens to your request without question. Unbuckling his pants, his cock springs free to make your eyes linger to the bottom half of his body. You don’t guess for long what it feels like, as he immediately sinks into you to make your eyelids flutter.
“Holy shit,” you exclaim, pressing your hands to his lower back, pushing him in deeper until he’s filling you to the hilt.
“You feel amazing.” Soobin says the words against your lips as he thrusts for the first time. He pulls completely before slipping back in, groaning the entire way.
While you appreciate the slow movement of his body against yours, not too eager to rush the experience, you cling to him with eager fingers, hoping the message will come across. “Soobin, go faster.”
You’ve only ever been with two other men in your life, two lackluster experiences in college you wished to forget. All the time between now was just a waiting game, you only willing to go the distance when you felt it was with the right person. And it seems like all the failures in your history have led you to this perfect blip in time.
Like Soobin can read your mind, he slows down just enough so he can whisper to you, “It’s always been you. It’s only ever been you.”
You can’t help the tear that forms in your eye, but it’s quickly kissed away with Soobin’s lips on your cheek and, subsequently, your mouth.
“I’m gonna come, Soobin. Please don’t stop.” His hips work faster, his thumb pressing down and rubbing your clit harder, and you can barely feel your body before it lights up in every area.
Your toes curl, your mouth slacks, and your soul explodes as the pleasure overtakes you. You feel empty yet so full from the endorphins released from your orgasm.
Soobin continues to move his hips against yours. His pace stutters, signaling his own release. He captures his lips with yours as he spills inside of you, your body his to claim completely. Nobody has ever had you in this way—emotionally, mentally, physically.
When you tell Soobin “I love you,” you mean it in every facet of reality, your soul intimately linked with his otherworldly one.
“I love you too, my love.” He smiles like a bashful child, taking you into his arms and pulling you closer as the night continues on outside. When you again, bodies intertwined between your sheets, all that you wish for now is for the moment to last forever.
And when you fall asleep that night in his arms a few hours later, you pray to every god you can name that it never ends.
The expectation of waking up to the warmth of Soobin’s arms and kisses dies when you feel his empty side of the bed. You search the entire house , your dogs padding behind you as you search every corner for him.
To your terror and slowly breaking heart, he remains to be seen. Soobin is gone like he was never there to begin with, your house flooding with a chill that hits you to the core.
You crawl back into bed, naked and alone, tears streaming down your face. The only time you rise is to let the animals eat and use the bathroom. For the rest of the day, you remain in bed like a phantom. Half out of your body, half inside of it to feel every ounce of pain. Each shred of sadness reminds you that you still exist, and the man—angel—that you love is gone.
Yeonjun has his head in his hand when another pair of associates throw Soobin in front of his desk. Soobin put up an intense fight in the resulting scuffle to bring him back to the office above Earth, but he doesn’t regret it. The only thing he regrets is not leaving you with some sort of explanation, even something as little as a minute to tell you he loves you.
“When I approved your descent, I expected you to help your assignment. Not sleep with her.” Yeonjun sighs and reads over the paperwork at his desk. “The guys above me are gonna love this.”
“Jun, please.” Soobin falls down on his scraped knees and raises his hands in a prayer. “Let me just tell her—”
“What else is there to explain? You’ve clearly done enough.”
“I’m begging you—”
“You think I’m going to let you spend another second with her and make me look like an idiot? No.” He slams his hand on the desk. “If you’re lucky, Soobin, all the archangels will do is send you to the second circle of Hell. I’m surprised they’re not reprimanding me as your superior. You broke our greatest oath.”
Do not consort with humans, Soobin reminds himself as tears stream down his face. “I love her, Yeonjun. And you know she loves me. Didn’t I do my job? I found her a soulmate, just like she wished for.”
Yeonjun shakes his head with a sad smirk. “Don’t think you can get around our rules this time, Soobin. I just called you here to tell you the council will see you in the morning. Be grateful they’re giving you a chance to explain yourself.”
The angels that brought Soobin in drag him away to the lower cells of the building. As he’s pushed and pulled through dark hallways, Soobin has barely enough time to come up with a plan to fix what he’s ruined. Barely.
Your dream is almost the same as the one you envisioned months ago, the dark cavern welcoming you like an old friend. The fog of your transition from sleep to dreaming still pervades your senses. You barely have time to make out the details before Soobin has you wrapped in his arms, holding you so tightly that you feel the air knocked out of your lungs. “Thank God it worked.”
You sob immediately when you recognize Soobin’s voice and his arms around you. It’s like a magnet the way you gravitate to one another, not worrying if the dream will last a second or into eternity. You can barely remember the pain of being without him now that he’s in front of you.
You call his name as he kisses the crown of your hair. He backs you into the desk at the far end of the room, lifting you up by the legs to sit on its marble top. He trails his lips down until they meet your own, and he says so tenderly, “I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there when you woke up.”
Breaking into a fit of sad laughter, you run your hands through the hair at the nape of his neck. “I’m just happy you’re here with me now.” You kiss him again and again, until your lips feel bruised and sore.
Soobin sheds a tear and looks back into the night outside of his office door. “I don’t have long. They’ll bring me back to my cell soon. But I wanted to tell you I love you. And I’ll come back as soon as I can.”
“W-Why are you being punished? You did what you were s-supposed to,” you stutter, a mournful knot building in your throat.
“I fell in love with a human when I shouldn’t have,” he answers, another tear welling in his eye. “But it was worth every rule I broke. How could I regret finding my best friend?” Soobin smiles despite the pain that you two share.
You hiccup into his neck. “When will I see you again?”
“I-I don't know. But I’ll fix this,” he assures you, a steadfast determination in his expression.
“You don’t know that for sure, though,” you cry, heart ripping deeper at the seams with each word.
“I don’t, but for now, know that I love you. I love you more than my existence allows.” He kisses you one more time as the edges of your dream blur. “It’s only for now, I promise.”
When you wake tangled in the comforter on your bed, the morning sky bleeding through your window, you begin the torture of waiting for the person you love most in the world to come back to you.
TWO MONTHS LATER
For the past seven Fridays since Soobin left, you’ve stayed in and waited for the phone to ring or the doorbell to sound, any way to signify that he hasn’t broken his promise. You don’t bother going into work, trying to find any excuse to stay in the house.
Beomgyu tries to get you out, go on dates, avoid the aching hole in your chest, but he doesn’t understand. None of your friends do. They think he’s left without an explanation like another random asshole would, but they don’t understand how wrong they are.
They’ll never understand you’re waiting for the one who took your heart between his hands and still holds it to this day, even if you can’t see him for now.
For now. The words play in your mind on a loop, the sound of Soobin’s voice as vivid as the day he said them between kisses in your dream. It’s only for now, I promise.
This Friday, you take his words to heart and decide to go out. You walk Key and Bori, the morning sun turning into an afternoon sky clear of clouds. The warmer weather signals winter is giving way to spring, although you can still feel the chill in your bones.
When you bring the dogs back home, you’re still too restless to stay inside, too many memories in the house haunting you with Soobin’s presence.
You walk around the town streets, the memories of those you love the most filling your heart with a solemn nostalgia that edges out the parts of you that are still miserable. You and Beomgyu learning to ride bikes around the animal shelter. Your parents treating you to your first scoop of mint chocolate ice cream after you won gold at your spelling contest. The kiss you shared with Soobin in your living room, and all the kisses that followed.
Each one contains longing for the past, yet offers some hope for making fresh memories in the same spots. And even locations you haven’t discovered yet.
By the second trip around the blocks you know too well, nighttime rears its head. The city lights mark the street names and numbers with a yellow glow, the heavens above pitch black.
Your legs are sluggish, ankles sore from continuing through the world around you without stopping for rest, but no physical excursion compared to the mental expedition you’ve been on today, a microcosm for all of your tangled emotions for the past two months.
You almost give into the demands of your body when you hear the faintest sound of your name behind you. Turning on shaking limbs, you see the perfect contours and edges of the man you love in crystal clarity. His shoulders heave as his face remains wet with tears, his body on the verge of convulsing from the travel back to you.
Although every muscle strains and screams inside of you, you run towards him with all of your might and crash into his arms. The water on your cheeks mixes with his when your skin touches. He kisses each tear before he reaches your lips, his mouth tasting of salt and peppermint.
“I’m here. I’m here, my love.” He strokes your hair with his hand and runs the other across your back.
“I didn’t get to say I love you too, last time I saw you,” you say, the words tumbling over one another as you try getting them about. You’re crying and mumbling and it all feels incoherent, but you know every sound you emit is true.
Soobin chuckles, and you’re reminded how beautiful the sound of his laughter is. “You never had to say it back, my love. I already knew.”
Your heartbeat is erratic, but it doesn’t distract you from the fact Soobin’s heart seems to beat as well. A strong, even-tempered rhythm, one you’ve never heard before. You look him deep in the eyes, needing to hear the words on his lips. “Are you—“
His voice is still hoarse and tattered, but his smile is like the salve to all of your wounds. “I told you I would come back to you.”
You whimper, another tear escaping from your eyes. “You gave up everything for me? Your immortality, your friends, your—”
He presses a finger to your lips before running it over your cheek, his expression soft. “I completed my mission. And my everything is right here with me.”
You kiss his lips, all the I love you’s not enough to encapsulate every feeling and gift Soobin’s given you since he came into your life. You both may be on Earth, one old and one new human soul linked as one, but you know this is what it means to be higher than even the immensity of heaven.

Danny ends up in Gotham with no memories of his past or ghost powers. In an attempt for more power a rouge observant weakened Clockwork with liquefied blood blossoms, sent multiple rouge ghosts through the portal to occupy the rest of team Phantom before stabbing Danny in the back with an electrified blade coated in liquefied blood blossoms as well. This forced Danny into human form as his core cracked, leading to him having amnesia.
Danny ends up working at a low rent hair salon after the owner finds him in an alley behind the shop and patches him up. He's also staying in the apartment above the salon. He doesn't get the danger when a robber tries to rob the store. Danny sits the robber down and gives him a hair cut and listens to his woes, and treats him like a normal person. He encourages him to do better.
This keeps happening and goes from petty criminals to some of the rouges. The bats are kinda freaking out when they find out that Harley and Ivy opened a therapy office and flower shop and that the Riddler opened a one hundred percent safe and legal escape room business. Tim gets sent to investigate the salon and becomes fast friends with Danny.
"So, what type of haircut are you looking for?" The boy asked, as he draped a sheet over Tim.
Tim hummed and then said in a very serious tone, "Low taper fade."
He got smacked at the back of the head for that.
"Don't you start!" The boy said, though he was laughing.
Tim pouted. "Ow!" It didn't really hurt, but he'd take whatever he could in order to make this nameless boy open up.
The boy gasped. "Oh no! I'm sorry— I was just joking! Does it hurt a lot?" He ran his hands through Tim's hair, rubbing at his scalp. The sudden touch made Tim jump before he relaxed at the massage.
Tim shook his head and said, "No, no, it's fine."
The boy leaned down to look at his face and then sighed. "Do you really want a low taper fade?"
Tim snickered. "Nah, just a trim, please."
The boy laughed. "Sure! I was worried I had to shave you bald."
Tim gasped in mock horror as the boy laughed again. They chatted some more, trading stories and making jokes until Tim finally asked, “Hey, I heard that this place gets a lot of visits from villains? Is that true?”
The boy blinked. “Villains?”
“Yeah. I heard that Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy was here. And the Riddler. And Mr. Freeze. Is it true?” He asked, trying to sound eager.
The boy chuckled. “I’m not too sure? Sometimes, people come in here and threaten to rob the store and I try to calm them down. I’m not really sure if they’re villains, I’m new.”
Tim blinked.
“… you’re new? To Gotham?” Huh. He hadn’t expected that from someone who had supposedly been able to talk down Gotham City villains.
There were a strange amount of newcomers coming to Gotham lately. Batman and the others had been hearing rumors of a red haired woman tearing up the underworld in search of something and had apparently even made contact with Red Hood.
The boy was oblivious to his thoughts and only nodded, trimming more hair. “Yeah. The owner of the salon found me after I was on the streets and then patched me up. So I’m working here to help him out.”
Tim nodded slowly.
“Say, what’s your name again?” Tim brought out his hand. “I’m Alvin. Alvin Draper.”
The boy blinked again and then smiled. He shook Tim’s hand and turned him back around to take off the protective sheet. “Daniel,” he said. “Daniel Nightingale.”

Fishie's birthday

Sum. Spending the night with your lovely spoiled lemurian bf on his birthday <3
WARNINGS. NSFW, smut, fem reader, not based on his birthday card memory!!, oral (m! rec), unprotected (but he pulls out), mm that's it I think, 1.2k words.
NOTES. i love Rafayel, too.
“what about fish?”
Rafayel spits the water he drank from the bottle you handed to him earlier, when he whined about how far it was away from him.
The question popped ‘what should we eat for dinner?’ right before he took the small sips of water that's now.. Everywhere on his clothes.
“Is that a joke?” he shakes his head with a quiet “tsk tsk”, and then grins with a teasing tone. “You’re mean to me. A little bit of compassion is all I’m asking for…” He pouts jokingly while you try holding in your smile as you pat dry his clothes with a towel.
“Happy birthday, i was just teasing you.” you hum.
“I didn’t know humans paid attention to things like birthdays,” he says, a smirk on his face, and your face falls, “or do you actually remember the birthdays of all your lovers?”
So, he wants to play like that…
“Mhm,” you smile, “all five of my lovers.”
If Rafayel was still drinking water, he would've (accidentally) spat it all on you.
You cut him off before he could spew out any dramatic words, “all five of your personalities.”
You could almost see how he tried covering up his sigh of relief before his arms crossed, “hey, don’t talk about my five personalities like that,” he playfully chides. “They’re all just as charming as I am.”
He grins a little wider, then leans in closer, his voice dropping to a purring tone. “besidesss, I’m the one you like, right? I’m your favorite?”
You grin, “my ultimate favorite.”
He nuzzles into your neck, almost like a cat, and you couldn't resist the urge to twist some of his violet strands.
“since I'm your favorite… Would you be so kind to give me the ultimate birthday gift?” He whispers, his hand gently rubbing at your side.
“what would you like, baby?” you glance down at him, and his eyes meets yours for a brief moment. “You?”
“me?”
“Mhm,”
“You want me to peg you?”
“pffft—” he tries not to laugh, the voice muffled against your neck, “can't keep your mind out of the gutter, can you?”
You gently pull his head back, to see those rosy cheeks painting his face, “well… back to our topic of food, I am getting hungry.
…
“N-not that—” Rafayel inhales sharply through his teeth as your lips wrap around him, the heat of your mouth is dizzying, the slick slide of your tongue along his sensitive slit makes his toes curl against the sheets.
He watches you through heavy-lidded eyes, the dark blue-pink of his irises glinting in the low light. The sight of your lips stretched around his long length, the obscene slurping noises you make as you take him deeper, it's all too much and not enough at the same time.
He wants to memorize every second, commit it to the vaults of his mind so he can revisit it later when he's alone and aching and desperate for your touch.
“why do you have to be so—ahh—I can't think—” His hips flex upward, driving himself deeper into the welcoming heat of your mouth. The head of his cock kisses the back of your throat, making you gag slightly around the intrusion.
He starts to rock into the tight clasp of your mouth, shallow thrusts that grow longer and harder as he loses himself to the sensation. “g-gods, I can't...” The obscene squelch of your lips moving along his shaft fills the air, punctuated by his harsh pants and the creaking of the mattress beneath you.
A low whimper tears from Rafayel's throat as you suck harder, his grip on your hair tightens reflexively, fingers curling into the strands as he fights the urge to thrust mindlessly into your mouth.
The way your cheeks hollow as you breathe through your nose, the desperate little noises you make as you rub your thighs together... fuck, it's almost too much to bear.
“Stop,” he lets out a breathless plea, “P-please I want you to cum on my cock first.”
Rafayel tugs sharply on your hair, pulling you off his throbbing length with a pop. Before you can protest, before you can even draw breath to speak, he's flipping you onto your back and settling between your spread thighs.
A smirk tugs at your lips, “you just love edging yourself, huh?”
“… Guilty as charged, cutie.” he drawls out as if he was drunk. drunk on nothing but you.
he then rolls his hips slowly, deliberately, grinding the length of his erection against your aching, soaked panties. The friction is delicious, maddening, but never enough.
It draws a strangled moan from your lips, his hand slips between your bodies, fingers delving between your slick folds after sliding the fabric off to circle your clit with slow strokes.
The pad of his thumb presses down on the sensitive bundle of nerves, rubbing tight circles that make your hips jerk and your thighs tremble.
With him not having patience anymore, he's sliding up your body, the head of his cock nudging insistently at your entrance. He teases you with shallow thrusts, barely dipping inside before pulling back out, over and over until you're a writhing, mewling mess beneath him.
“Rafayel,” you hiss through gritted teeth while trying to push your hips to take more.
He suddenly hilts himself inside you with one hard, deep thrust, burying himself to the base, catching you completely off guard.
“You little—oh—” he starts to move, rolling his hips in a slow grind, the drag of his cock along your fluttering walls is maddening, each inch of him stroking your deepest, most sensitive spots until you're seeing stars.
Your hands scrabble for the pillow, sheets, anything to grip onto to try and hold yourself together.
“So. Goddamn. Beautiful.” Rafayel punctuates the declaration with a sharp thrust of his hips, driving himself impossibly deeper, until he's kissing your cervix with each roll of his pelvis.
“ah, my heart.” he whispers, to you. And he slows his pace, wanting to make this meaningful.
But it doesn't last long. It was partially your fault for moaning his name out loud that it echoed in this closed up room.
“j-just like that,” he pants, burying his face against your chest as his thrusts grow sloppier by the second, it was too obvious he was close, and so were you.
You were the first to cum, after his fingers shakily pinch and rub at your clit that gave you the final push to flutter your walls tightly around his cock before gushing all that you had.
Your limbs feel like jello.
“I'm going to—ahh—” he whines, quickly pulling to spurt ropes of his hot release all on your stomach and chest, the sensation makes you whimper as you look up at his almost rolled back eyes.
After a breath or two, Rafayel blinks before grabbing the previously tossed shirt from the side to attempt and clean you up.
“sorry for the mess, baby.” he pouts, and you only laugh with your head thrown back.
“Happy birthday, my spoiled fishie.” you tease before grabbing his face to press an affectionate kiss right on the mole sitting prettily on his skin.

600 follower drabble masterlist
wc: 1.3k
a/n: Worst logan my love. Also this is my first time writing explicitly plus sized so please let me know if I need to change anything!! I hope you like it <33 Also this turned into way more than a drabble lol.
Men really were the fucking worst. Actually the fucking worst. What reason could someone have to do something so cruel? For a joke? A laugh? To hurt someone so badly just for fun? You sat at the damn restaurant for an hour checking your phone.
When you finally did get ahold of that asshole he just laughed at you. Told you it was a joke, that he'd never seriously be into someone like you. Your eyes welled with tears but you refused to let them fall in public. God, you can still feel the stares of people around you. The whispers.
How sad, that poor girl.
Did you see her check her phone over and over again?
Don't stare, she probably already feels bad enough...
Their words stung more than that assholes. You aren't stupid, you know that you aren't stereotypically attractive. You don't match the girls in magazines.
But that doesn't mean you don't deserve basic human respect. You didn't even like the guy, in fact, based on his horrible personality you were really doing him a favor.
You angrily stomped up the stairs and through the hallway. You should feel bad about the noise but you just can't bring yourself to care. You slam your door closed and toss your things onto your couch. A knock on the door almost makes you scream. Whoever it was needs to take the hint.
"What." You say as you rip open your door.
"Oh. It's you." You say flatly.
Any other time you'd be thrilled to see your hot neighbor at your door but right now it felt like another reminder of your failed love life.
"What crawled up your ass? Could hear you muttering a mile away." He asks and you roll your eyes.
"Brought you a peace offering." He holds up a bottle of wine and you decide to let him in.
"You're a man Logan. Why are men such shallow assholes?" You take another sip.
"Date gone bad princess?"
"I wouldn't even call it a date." You swirl your drink around in the glass.
To admit what really happened feels embarrassing. Especially to Logan. You had a massive crush on the man. That started the minute you met him. Your nice but weird neighbor Wade introduced the two of you one night. The second you looked into those gorgeous eyes and shook his big hands it was over.
"Hello? You still there?" Logan waves his hand in front of your face and you snap out of your thoughts. Deciding this day couldn't get any worse so you might as well just tell him.
"I got stood up. Turns out he asked me out as a joke."
"What a fucking dick." Logan growls. His hand tightened around the beer can in his hand.
"He said he'd never be into someone like me." You say with a huff. Drinking the last of your wine.
"What the fuck is that supposed to mean?"
“Come on Logan, you’re a million years old you know what I’m talking about.” You gesture to yourself and it seems to click in his head.
“So what? Who fucking cares about that.” The can crushes under his intense grip the longer he thinks about it. You pour yourself more wine before answering him.
“Apparently, most people do.”
“Well, he’s an idiot. Anyone would be lucky to have you.” He sees you brush him off and it bothers him. He’s not the kind of guy to lie to make you feel better. So why you don’t believe him is beyond him. He sees things as they are.
“I know a beautiful woman when I see one princess.” He smirks as he inches closer to you.
You’ve been the subject of Logan’s wet dreams for a while now. Your sweet laugh and pretty face. The sinful things he’s thought about. He’d feel ashamed but he knows you’ve got the hots for him too. Your staring isn’t as subtle as you think. Plus his super hearing allows for him to pick up on your more…intimate moments. He doesn’t mean to hear them, but he does.
“Logan…” Your breath catches in your throat as he cages you into the couch. His strong arms are on full display for you as you shrink into the couch. He’s got this feral grin on his face that both excites you and makes you nervous.
“Only boys can’t see past that bullshit. I’m a man. A man who knows how to please a woman like you.” He purrs.
Are you dreaming? Is this really happening? His knee nudges its way between your legs. The rough material of his jeans rubs against your panties. The friction makes you squirm.
“You gonna let me make you feel good pretty girl?” He whispers in your ear. His hand slips under your dress, fingers brushing over your clothed cunt. Teasing your skin with his touch.
“Please fuck!” You gasp as you claw at his shirt.
He reaches and tears it to shreds. Your mouth waters as you see his back muscles stretching and bulging, free of any clothing to hide him away. He’s a man on a mission as he lifts your dress up. His massive shoulders push your legs apart. You couldn’t close them even if you wanted to, which you don’t. He pulls your panties to the side and licks his lips.
“Just know she’s ripe and sweet. All for me.” His claws peek out and your heartbeat quickens as the sharp metal cuts through the fabric of your underwear.
“There we go.” He throws the scraps to the side and wraps his arms around your thighs. Hands digging into your soft skin. He squeezes your thighs and you hear a low purr coming from his throat.
“Fuck!” You moan as Logan buries his face in your pussy. There’s no holding back as he laps like an animal feasting on its favorite treat.
“So fucking sweet, god bury me in these thighs.” He mumbles.
His brain fogs with pleasure as he buries his tongue as far as it will go. You’re trapped in feeling his every torturous move. His grip is bruisingly delicious.
“Logan logan fuck don’t stop!” You tug hard on his hair as you grind your hips against his mouth. You’re losing it in pleasure as his tongue flicks across your clit.
“That’s what I’m fucking talking about.” He lifts his head, eyes clouded with lust as he tilts his head back. Savoring the taste of you as he prepares to dive back in. He’d die a happy man just to be suffocated between your beautiful thighs.
“Stupid fucking boys, you don’t need them right pretty girl? Not when you have me. I’ll make you come so hard you’ll never think of anyone else again.” You nod along to whatever he is saying.
Your head is up in the clouds as he sucks on your clit. Determined to make you scream his name. His wish is granted as he relentlessly plays toys with your clit. His tongue works magic as he brings your orgasm crashing down.
“Logan!” Your eyes roll to the back of your head as you lose yourself in pleasure.
Your senses muddle together as whimpers tumble from your lips, body buzzing with a warm and fuzzy feeling. It doesn’t last long as Logan refuses to let up. Working you into overstimulation until you’re pushing his head away weakly.
“Too much for you?” He licks his lips, a cocky smile on his face.
“No, I just. Need a break.” You say breathlessly as you try and control your breathing.
Your eyes travel down his chest. Admiring his muscles and stupidly attractive arms. His cock is straining in his pants. You let out a small yelp as he picks you up effortlessly.
Man, you love his mutant strength. Logan gently places you on your bed. He toys with your dress as he resists the urge to rip it apart.
“What was that guy's name again?” He asks as he unbuckles his belt. You open your mouth to answer but he cuts you off. He didn’t want an answer anyway.
“Doesn’t matter, You won’t remember it by the time I’m done with you.”

Hear me out. Okay what if like. Wade Wilson has a little brother (20-22). Who's trans masc (with top surgery) and is simply the sweetest and softest human being ever and like gives the best hugs ever and Logan can't help but to fall in love with him but wade hates the thought of his sweet baby brother dating the 200+ year old man. So wade makes it his mission to give the reader a bad view on Logan but the reader has too much of a soft heart to hate Logan due to knowing he has gone through a lot. (PLEASE LET IT END IN FLUFF AND CUDDLES🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏)
a/n: oh my dear god your brain. YES. please everyone send more requests. 🙏
sweet. logan howlett x ftm!wilson!reader

a/n: I'm so sorry i took so long, this got longer than expected...
synopsis: logan doesn't want to like wade's brother like everyone else does. he soon realizes that he doesn't, he likes you even more, and wade doesn't like that at all.
cw: slight mention of transphobia, implicit mention of home abuse, reader is really polite and kind, mention of top surgery, smut, oral (v receiving), teasing and fingering, t-shots. worst!wolverine. after deadpool and wolverine. kinda ooc wade and ooc Logan.
words: 4.3k
Logan sighed when Wade mentioned his little brother coming. Who could blame him? The apartment was already small, and the old blind woman, the burnt chicken nugget and the five hundred pound wolverine were already enough for it, even though you were only coming to visit.
It's an important fact that Logan genuinely thought you were a child, like an eight-year-old boy from whom Logan was going to have to run away because he hates kids, so he was very surprised when a twenty-two-year-old man stepped into the apartment with a cute smile on his face.
After that smile, Logan softened a bit, but he still hated the idea of having you around. You hugged your brother and kissed Althea's temple (the woman also seemed to adore you) and Wade began to tell you that Vanessa was yapping his ass out because he wanted to see you. Did everyone in Wade's life love you?
That fact alone made him not like you. He didn't know why, but he wasn't going to fall for your charms, he wasn't going to allow it.
But… he made a few exceptions. Sometimes you would bring a cake or any pastry at all, always with chocolate. And Logan was weak for some chocolate.
So he tolerated you for a tea time with the rest, hearing you talk with that sweet tone you had, giggle and sip from your cup adorably, being simply the cutest. He found himself listening to you, paying your attention, almost forgetting his brownie on the small plate in front of him, and just listening. To that charming tone, the way you moved your hands, how you would laugh when Wade made a joke, how you would smile at Althea and when you smiled at him. Oh, when that smile was for him and just for him. He felt his heart skip a beat.
That night, the image of you was burned in his eyeballs, wherever he looked, your face was there. Fuck, I thought. You managed to get to the soft part of his heart.
You began to stay more since no one complained about your presence. For lunch, even for dinner.
And one night, the night, you stayed over. After dinner, it started to pour rain heavily, and you had come to the apartment on your bike, so it was a dangerous way for you to go home, and Wade offered you the living room couch.
“You can't give him the couch, you fucker.” Logan finally spoke. “He can take my bed, I'll sleep on the couch.”
“But, Logan, there's no need… I can take the couch.” You said with that stupid loving tone.
“I won't fight over a bed, just take it.” Be said roughly and you just nodded, looking up at him when he stood up. “'m gonna record some stuff.” He left the table and went to his room.
You watched him leave, a bit embarrassed about the whole situation. “I just don't wanna cause any trouble.”
“My sweet pumpkin, you are nothing but light in our lives, you don't worry about anything.” Wade hugged your neck from behind and you giggled.
Logan slept on the couch indeed, it wasn't like he hadn't done it before, it just wasn't his preference. He stood up to go to the kitchen and grab a beer, when he opened the fridge he reminded himself of buying more, and when he closed it, you were there.
You had long pajamas trousers, an empty cup in your hands, messy hair and no shirt on, showing the scars under slight your pecs.
“Sorry, it didn't mean to appear like that.” You said with a sleepy voice, but still smiling and being freaking warm.
Logan sighed, but not of annoyance or tiredness, because Jesus H. Christ, the sight of you.
You rubbed your eye and put some water in the electric pot, to make yourself a tea apparently.
“Are you sure you don't want to take the bed?” You looked up at him with soft eyes.
Logan almost stuttered. “No, no, don't worry, kid, 'm good.” He said before drinking a sip of beer. “You couldn't sleep?”
“Yeah, it's hard to sleep sometimes, I have insomnia.” You explained. "What about you?:
“Can't sleep sometimes either. Nightmares.” He have explained.
“Oh, nightmares can be shitty.” You sighed, preparing your tea. “I have them too—well, I used to have them, but now they don't scare me anymore.”
Oh, his damn god, you were so cute and small, why did you have to have nightmares too? His instinct of protecting you just kept getting stronger.
“What were they about?” He asked, leaning against the counter, watching your soft hands prepare the tea.
“Just, you know, when my parents knew I was trans, when I was like… thirteen, or had some shitty years at that house before they kicked me out, then Wade got me to his place and took care of me and all, but those years I had it… pretty bad.” You sighed, taking a sip of your warm drink.
Logan remained in silence for a second before speaking. “I'm sorry.” And he was indeed, he couldn't help it, he wondered why he wasn't there to help him, and the answer was too obvious.
“Oh, don't be.” You smiled sweetly. “I know you went through a lot.”
“You do?” You nodded.
“Wade talks a lot about you.” I giggled. “He wanted me to come over sooner but I couldn't.”
“Why is that?”
You palpated your pectoral. “Top surgery.”
Instinctively, Logan ran his fingertips through the scars of your chest. “Did it hurt?”
You swallowed hard and blushed deeply, your skin getting goosebumps and your chest moving up and down, trying to calm down. And damn, that was a sight, your soft skin reacting to his touch, your chest moving against his fingers.
“I-It didn't hurt much, no…”
Logan smirked. “You're a strong boy?” He asked, and you nodded, looking down at him.
He finally lifted his eyes to you, moving his hands through your stomach to grab your sides and lift you to the counter. “Let me see ya better.”
He removed your cup from your hands and left it aside, slowly going back to caress your scars, you could feel his breath against your chest.
He pressed a slow kiss on the middle of your scar, starting to trace them with kisses.
“Logan…” You mumbled when he opened your legs to get in the middle of them.
“Can't you see I'm busy here, bub?”
I swallowed hard. “S-sorry.” You mumbled shyly.
You ran your finger through his hair in a little moan when he kissed your hardening nipples, sucking them gently as one of his hands moved to the small of your back, making you arch it a bit and keep it close to him.
"Such a sweet chest for a sweet boy like you." He sucked a hickeys next to your nipple before licking over it, making you shiver. "You like that, don't ya? Can smell how much you like it."
He kissed your belly, nibbling at the extra flesh there, making you giggle a bit. Oh, that sweet sound of yours. He lifted his body up to you again, rubbing his big nose against yours.
"M-my brother won't like this.." You said unsure.
Logan shrugged. "He doesn't have to know." He mumbled before kneeling between your legs and using those to pull you to the edge of the counter.
He undid the knot of your pajama pants and let them fall through your legs till your ankles.
He used his broad hands to separate your thighs more for him, finding your pretty, aroused cunt.
He kissed the Venus mount and began to lower his kisses to your folds, he pulled away for a second and used two broad fingers to separate the folds, drinking the sight of it clenching around nothing and getting so, so wet.
"He is desperate for me, isn't he?" He said, talking about your cunt. You shivered and couldn't help but giggle when you realized he called it a "he". "What's so funny? I assumed that a pretty boy like you had to have a pretty boy pussy like this."
You had to stop giggling when he kissed your clit, grabbing it in his mouth to suck it softly. You covered your mouth with one hand because the sound you were about to make was too obscene and loud. You pulled his hair gently to press him against your juicy cunt even more.
After sucking your clit a bit, he didn't waste a second and began lapping and licking your cunt like it was his fucking last dinner.
"Logan, oh god..." You mumbled, thinking you were about to lose your mind as your squeezed his face between your shaking thighs.
Now you had both hands and legs pressing him against you more, your hips starting to buck against his mouth, trying to reach your high. Logan used his broad hands to part your thighs again, his tongue starting to fuck your hole in and out. You pulled his hair and bit your lip hard, you couldn't allow yourself to moan, not even a little bit. He used his thumb to rub your bundle of nerves and made you squirm even more.
"Gosh, you are even sweeter inside.." Logan groaned, going back to assault your pussy, his big nose helping his finger rubbing your clit.
You tried to push him away when you orgasm was close, but he was way stronger than you, so it was useless. Suddenly, he stood up, still grabbing your thighs and with his face still on you, making you lay down so he could basically binge on your cunt.
He used one hand to cover your mouth while the other left your clit aside and began to tap at your entrance.
"Let's see how tight you are." He teased a bit, leaving soft kisses on your clit while he sank and finger inside of you, groaning low. "Dammnit, kid, so freaking warm here. I bet my cock would love you." You shivered at his filthy words. "You like that? You like thinking about my cock ripping you in half?" He smirked, fucking you with his fingers and kissing your clit.
You nodded frenetically, closing your eyes to imagine it was his cock that was fucking you now and not his fingers. When he began to rub the soft spot of your hole, you shook your head, trying to tell him you were about to make a mess.
"Go on, go on, I can feel ya clenching me, bub." He sank himself back on your pussy to suck your clit violently, making you shake and try to pull his hand away and tell him that you were the messy kind.
But it was too late, the knot that had built on your belly had been undone already, and you were squirming all over in Logan's fingers, beard and shirt.
"God, bub, so messy, how cute. Gonna have to clean you good, you are about to start dripping." He gently removed his fingers and looked at you in the eye when he licked them clean, a little sob escaping through your lips now that he wasn't covering your mouth anymore. He clicked his tongue and shook his head. "Tch, tch, tch, no sounds, you don't want your brother to find out, don't you?" You shook your head. "Then be quiet."
You cried low when he began to gently lick your cunt clean, leaving soft kisses, making you whimper and babble. "Wanna taste yourself?" He asked with a smirk, you tilted your head to the side, slightly confused before he pressed his lips against your furiously. Gosh, how much stamina did that man have? You tasted the sweet flavor of your orgasm and blushed. "Yeah? Does it taste good, kiddo?" You nodded. "C'mon, get to your room before your brother suspects." He palmed your thigh as he kissed your temple. You obediently nodded and stood up with wobbly legs, making Logan chuckle, but quickly went back to your room like a little bunny.
(...)
The next morning, you can feel that Logan is slightly clinger than usual —the usual being nothing—. He used the cereal that you mentioned once that you liked for your bowl, and ruffled your hair, making you blush. He let you borrow a flannel shirt because of the sudden drop in temperature, and even made you a coffee to go. So he just needed to suck your cunt to start being nice? Good to know.
But Wade didn't allow any of these actions to slide, he frowned everytime you two shared a smile or when he made you blush. When Wade grabbed you to the hall with him to take you home like a good big brother, you saw that look in his eyes and you knew you were in trouble.
"What in the fuck helluva is going on with the wolv-mean?" He crossed his arms before even starting the car, after letting you put your bike on the back seat.
You blushed. "What are you talking about?"
"Don't play silly with me, you little filthy shit, you are having fantasies with the old bear." You blushed even more.
You knew you couldn't hide anything from him. "Not just fantasies..."
Wade stopped the car from leaving the parking lot, his mouth falling open as he looked at you. "Where?"
"The counter."
"When?"
"Last night?"
"What?"
"He ate me out."
He gasped loudly, horrorized, before putting a curious expression "Was he good?"
"Amazing."
"Wait— no!" He said quickly, starting to drive again. "Just so you know, you are not coming back to the apartment again."
"What?! Wade!" You complained.
"I can't have you around if Logan is going to start taking advantage of my little tiny weeny brother!"
"He didn't take advantage of me! I'm twenty-two!"
"And he is like, two hundred years old, you are like ten percent of his age!"
"Actually is eleven—"
"I don't wanna hear it!" I raised a hand. "You are not coming back until Logan knows how to behave with a minor!"
"I'm not a minor!" You felt like he wasn't even listening to you. "C'mon, Wade! You know I never have guys around, let me have a little fun."
"I let you have fun... not with my two-hundred-year-old mutant roommate!"
"UGH, you are such a pain in my ass!" You pulled your hair slightly. "Stop the car, I'm going home by myself."
"But the street is still wet!"
"So was my cunt yesterday night." You heard Wade gasp as you grabbed your bike and left.
(...)
No calls from Logan. A lot of calls from Wade. You wanted to fucking die.
Your brother was serious when he said you weren't allowed to step into his apartment again, you forgot your toothbrush and he insisted that he would give it to you by himself, but you told him you didn't want to see him, so after another fight, he mailed it to you.
You never bad big fights with Wade, but he was getting under your skin. Of course, you could understand him being so protective over you, but you thought he trusted Logan, and you didn't think Logan could be that bad. He seemed sweet, very, very, very, very deep inside. But it was something.
You wanted to live that kind of romance, that troupe that you only saw in sitcoms, romcoms, or fan fiction. Falling in love with your brother's best friend. Well, in love is a big statement. Sleeping with your brother's friend, although you liked Logan. He was cool, a mysterious, serious, nonchalant man, with a broad chest and arms, the veins that ran through them, you wanted to fucking nibble his arm like a chewing toy—
Back to the point, you wanted Logan, your brother didn't want you to want Logan, but did Logan want you too? You sighed in your bed when you started to think about that. Gosh, you begged for this to not be one sided like your last relationships.
On the other hand, Logan felt like a teen. In fewer words, there wasn't a night he wasn't jerking off with the thought of you, that little cute face you made as you came, the taste of you, the way you squirmed against him, everything was just a lot. He couldn't help it, every time he closed his eyes, that sight of you was there, and his cock would just begin to get harder and harder until he couldn't take it anymore. He would get even harder at the memory of his fingers inside of you, as he pumped his cock, he would squeeze a bit more his hand around it, trying to imagine it was your warm, tight cunt. "Such a pretty filthy boy..."
He wanted to hold you as he fucked you slowly, soothing you while you whined and cried for his big cock. Tell you it was okay, tell you that he was going to stay with you, to hold you forever if you wanted to, if you asked him to. Please, ask him to.
He felt like a stupid kid, hugging his pillow against his chest, thinking it was your pretty, little frame, with that sweet, strong cologne you always wore, lingering in his nostrils still. That masculine, sensual smell.
Finally, you decided to answer Wade calls, which were received with a dramatic relief from your brother.
“What do you want now?” You sighed.
“Look, I'm sorry about what happened, I shouldn't have told you that you couldn't be with the mean wolvie.” He sighed back, you let him talk. “But, it's just that I need you to understand that… he does that stuff all the time.”
“Stuff?” You frowned.
“Yeah, he always brings boys and girls home, and does his stuff with them for a few days before he just… stops talking to them.”
You thought for a second, your brother wouldn't lie to you, and it was real that Logan was a very hot person, everything sounded real.
“Understand me, baby bro, I just… don't want you to get hurt, and I don't want Logan to be the one that hurts you, he is my friend, my peanut, but if he hurts you, of course, I would take your side.” He explained, and you believed him.
Your brother was everything you had, how would you not believe him? He wanted to protect you.
“I understand, I'll move around. I know you want to protect me, I'm sorry that I didn't answer your calls…”
“Oh, baby bro, don't worry your little mind about it, I understood.” His tone made you smile. “You can come over any time, just… keep your distance with peanut, alright?”
“Alright.” You chuckled.
And that happened. You began to go with Wade to have breakfast at his place, to play video games, sometimes you would just go to read or to draw. But ignoring Logan. All the time.
Logan, even though he didn't show it, was happy to see you there. But the second you were polite and quiet with him, he wanted you out again. He preferred to dream about you rather than seeing you disinterested in him, and he hated it.
He wanted you to be close to him, not in a sexual way (even though he wanted that too), he wanted everything to be like the morning after the kitchen encounter, with him having the chance to be close and clingy with you like he secretly is with his partners. Not like he had many in this dimension, not to say that he didn't have any.
It hurt him. Too much for his liking. Was he falling? he begged to not be falling for you, because you weren’t paying attention to him, it would only mean more pain for him.
Still, he tried, he tried to approach you more, which only confused you more. So you asked Wade.
“He is obviously just trying to have his way with you again. Just keep ignoring him like you've been doing, you're doing a good job.”
You sighed because you craved Logan's touch too, you longed for his big hands grabbing you again. And you thought you were being easy to manipulate, that you were about to fall on his tramp and that you had to run away, even though you wanted to cling to him like a tick to a dog.
One night, Wade had gone out, and Logan wasn't home either. According to your brother, Logan wouldn't be home till very late, so you got surprised when he came in at the apartment an hour after Wade had left. You were laying on the couch, playing video games with a bowl of salty popcorn on your side.
“Hey.” He said, knowing that was his chance.
“H-hey…” You swallowed.
“Can… can we talk, for a sec?” He said, suddenly timid.
You frowned at the manners he had, because they were nothing like Wade had told you they were.
“Ahm, yeah, sure.” You paused your game and let him sat next to you.
“So, ahm… I don't do this, and I don't want to be the invasive type, and maybe I'm too old and these are the new ways your generation has to— to flirt and stuff.” He started. “But… did anything happen? I mean, I thought after… that night, everything was fine, that we were both satisfied about how everything went— I mean, I was happy.”
You wanted to say that you have been happy too, that it was one of the best nights you had, but you remained in silence, letting him talk.
“And I didn't understand… why did you got so distant, I just got confused, and, again, I don't know if it's a new way of flirting, I haven't been with… many people.” He scoffed a bit. “So… I just want to know.”
“Wait, you haven't been with many people?”
He hesitated a bit before talking. “It's a… fancy way of saying I haven't been with anyone since I got here.”
You frowned and looked away from him, thinking. Wade lied? To you? it had to be some type of mistake.
“But… But Wade— he told me that… that you had partners here all the time.”
Now Logan was the one frowning. “Maybe he meant that he is trying to make me bring more partners here.”
“No, he literally said that you always had partners here, boys and girls, and you had a thing with them for a few days before ignoring them, so Wade told me to not approach to you, which I—”
“Wait, Wade said what?” He frowned, but not with confusion. With anger.
“Yeah, he didn't want me to get hurt by you, so he… he told me to keep my distance.” You explained.
He closed his eyes, huffing. “That fucking liar…” He sighed before looking at you again. “That's not true, kid, I… I'm not with tons of people all the time, and I don't want that either, I…” He began to get red out of embarrassment.
You giggled. “You want to be with me?” You tilted your head to the side, trying to find his eyes again. He nodded with an embarrassed frown, you smiled with excitement.
“Is that okay?” He asked unsure.
“It is, but… there's something I need to do first.”
(...)
Wade opened his room door and quickly slipped, hitting his head with the ground.
“Goddamnit, what?!” He complained, noticing an odd feeling of his body on the floor. The whole room floor was covered in a layer of oil. “What the fuck?! Logan!?”
“Not Logan. Me.” You crossed your arms, he tilted his head back to look at you. “Maybe hitting your head can make you realize how stupid and selfish you were when you lied about Logan.”
He sighed. “Baby bro..”
“Why, Wade? You know I trusted you.”
“I just… I really enjoyed you coming g here to see me, and… I was scared that if you got into something with that hairy old man, you would only come in here to see him and I would be left aside.” He said in a slight sad tone.
“Wade, that's so freaking stupid.” You frowned. “You are my brother, the only family I have left, why would I do that to you?”
“Yeah… it was stupid…” He tried to stand up but failed, you swallowed a chuckle while he sighed. “I'm sorry, baby bro.”
“Alright, I forgive you. But good luck trying to get Logan's forgiveness.” You said, helping him to stand up.
“I could think about something…”
(...)
“Hi.”
You screamed when Logan appeared behind you in the kitchen of your apartment.
“What the fuck are you doing here?! You almost gave me a heart attack!” You put your hand on your chest.
He laughed a bit. “Sorry, kiddo.” He hugged you from behind, putting his head on your shoulder.
“How did you got in my apartment?”
He raised his hand, the tingling sound of keys calling your attention. “Wade gave me a copy of the keys.”
“That's creepy… but I guess you forgave him.” You ran your hands through his strong arms.
“After this, I did.” He nuzzled his nose on your neck.
“You wanna stay?” You giggled. “I'm making pasta.” You talked low as you nuzzled your head on his temple, he nodded.
You tried to remove yourself a bit, but his embrace stopped you. “Logan—”
“Sh.” He shushed you. “A little longer please.”
The pasta got overcooked, but he finally got his cuddles, because how could you say no to him?

──── MY ANGEL, MY UBER, MY EVERYTHING.🍸🍋🌿 ↳ requested // part of the no doubt series !
You hear it first before your eyes even open.
A loud buzz, obnoxiously close to your head. You groan, your arm flailing out from under the comforter to mute your phone off and go back to sleep.
And not even three seconds later—
Buzz. Buzz.
You groan into your pillow.
One eye cracks open just enough to glance at the screen:
jungwon👯
Yeah.
This can't be good.
You answer with a sleepy grumble, "What."
"Heyyyy Y/N," Jungwon says, way too chipper and lively for your liking at this hour. "Sooo...you might wanna come pick up your boyfriend."
You blink slowly, brain still foggy with sleep.
"Huh."
"Jake's, um. Very drunk. And refusing to leave unless it's with you."
You stare at the ceiling above, deadpan, "You're joking."
"I wish," Jungwon sighs, sounding both amused and exasperated at the same time. "We tried everythin—"
A crash. A muffled ow. Some rustling. Then—
"WAIT—ARE YOU TALKING TO Y/N?"
Jungwon groans. "Jake—no, don't—hey, Jake, that's my—dude, give me my ph—JAKE—"
"BABY."
Jake's voice explodes through the speaker.
"BABY I NEED YOU. PLEASE."
You blink at your phone, now fully awake. And fully amused.
"Jake—"
"They're trying to make me go home to the dorm," he slurs dramatically. "Like—to my own room. Alone. WITHOUT YOU."
"Jake, you live with me," you giggle, already climbing out of bed and reaching for your hoodie. "You'll be fine."
"NO. I won't. I wanna be in our bed. With my girl. Smelling like your vanilla shampoo and on your comfy silk sheets. Please. It's a basic human right."
You're full-on giggling now, navigating through your dark room for your keys, because—
Unfortunately, you're in love with him and will do anything for this poor guy.
"I'm coming, I'm coming. Just hang tight and give Jungwon his phone back okay?"
Twenty minutes later, you're outside the bar Jungwon texted you the address to.
And then you see him.
Slumped against the wall, tie crooked, shirt loosened, hair falling over his forehead. His eyes are glassy and pink-tinted, cheeks flushed, ears red.
Sunghoon stands next to him, one arm outstretched to keep Jake upright, while Jay's trying to press a water bottle into his lips.
Then—
Jake looks up.
"BABY!!!"
He launches off the wall. Slightly pushes Sunghoon and Jay off. Trips over his own feet. Nearly collapses straight into you.
"Oh my god, Jake," you're giggling, catching him as he immediately melts into you, burying his face into your shoulder.
He smells like beer and cologne and Jake—his entire body warm and heavy as he wraps himself around you.
"You're here," he mumbles into your hoodie, relieved. "I told them. I told them you'd be here. Said my girl's gonna come for me. She always comes for me."
You glance over his shoulder. Sunghoon looks three seconds away from joining Heeseung, slumped on the sidewalk. Jay's already walking away.
"What happened to this being a wholesome group dinner outing?" you ask dryly, lifting a brow as you still try to stay balanced under Jake's full body weight wrapped around you.
"Don't blame me," Jungwon shrugs, wide-eyed. "Not my fault your boyfriend's a lightweight."
And you can't even argue with that.
Given your current position.
You're convinced Jake fell asleep like this. Standing up. Hugging you.
"Okay, okay. Let's get you home," you say, amused as you wave bye to the rest of the guys and steer your mess of a boyfriend towards your car.
The drive back isn't any better.
Jake refuses to let go to you.
One hand wrapped around your arm. The other holding your hand that isn't on the wheel. Body stretched over the console. Head on your shoulder, a sleepy smile playing at his lips as the smell of alcohol still lingers on him.
"You're so pretty," he murmurs, nose brushing your neck. "Like, so pretty. That's why I call you my pretty. You're the prettiest thing I've ever seen. I'm gonna marry you."
You keep your eyes on the road, but you laugh softly, trying to keep up with his mumbled words, "You say that every time you're drunk, Jakey."
"And I mean it ever time I'm drunk," he pulls back just enough to look at you with a serious look, but it's more like a pout. "And sober. Drunk me. Sober me. Future me. Past me. I love you. Love you so much. You're my angel. My Uber. My everything. My—my forever girl."
You burst out in giggles, "Your Uber?"
"Yeah," he nods, grinning at your reaction. "You picked me up. Best Uber ever. And your car always smells good. Like peaches. Five stars. Infinite stars."
By the time you drag him into the apartment and finally in bed, he's still clinging onto you, professing his love endlessly between hiccups and yawns.
"Pretty," he whispers, his nose nuzzling into your hair, breath warm against your skin. "M'gonna marry you. You know that right? You know I love you? So perfect. My girl."
And you're a goner. Completely wrecked.
"I know, Jakey," you smile, stroking his hair as his breathing slows. "I know."
And you do.
Because drunk or not—Sim Jaeyun is the realest thing you've ever known.
And he means every word.

MURDERBOOOOT ep.4
Honestly, this whole episode was AMAAAAAZING
sure
Love that they gave us this bit of worldbuilding
near death spiritual experience
THIS WAS SO FUNNY
Terrifying RogueUnit, dragging its easily defeated opponent onto an operation table, and then this rusty model having the audacity to just slide off and ruin the cool moment
A bit of genuine horror right here.
Imagine not being in control of your own body and actions and being helpless to do anything, and then, worst of all, your brain is rewired to think that it's alright
MENSAH TO THE RESCUE!
I love you soooo much
akdhdhfkddk
The hair, the self-insert, the everything
I also love that Murderbot's acting becomes as exaggerated and theatrical as the rest of the Sanctuary Moon's crew. Just complete shit show and I'm so here for it
Pin Li is like - not to wish death upon my friend, buuuuut
Oh Ratthi 🥰
you're so dumb 🥰
"Oh, for fuck's sake, Ratthi!"
the Threat Assessment Module joke
AKSHDHDJDJSJGSG
HE'S TRYING SO HARD TO BE HELPFUL
a bit of honesty in the midst of your mind being broken into
THEY'RE THE BEST
also, please, talk about this damn contract, I'm begging you
forcing me to kill MY stupid humans?!
NOT ON MY WATCH, EVIL CORPORATION!!!!
👌
****
This was the best episode so far! Every moment was worth a screenshot, but if I put everything I wanted, I'd have to make like 50 posts and I'm lazy
WATCH THIS SHOW!!!!

I just REALIZED SOMETHING and it's making me smile?
You know that trope of "well shit, I've been reborn, but like? I need to make a living (so I can survive). So I deeply apologize Actual Authors, it's time to plagiarize the shit out of some stuff!"
In SVSSS? (Or other Xanxia novels of your choosing) Demons?? Would LOVE the absolute SHIT out of some good ol fashioned Klingon and/or Mandalorian Poetry.
Look me in the eyes and tell me I'm wrong.
Violence? Honor? Proving yourself worthy, even as you admire the raw strength of the subject of the poem? Go ahead! Compare that sunset to the fine edge of a blade! That great beauty to the thrill of battle! Tell me! Would she fell a thousand souls? Would your love bring EMPIRES TO ASH AT YOUR FEET?! Crown him in glory! Speak of the STARS you would seize for this child!
The "Translations From Far Away Lands" would be THE hottest book. Hands down.
You'd have to be ILLITERATE not to own it. Some sort of unromatic, uncultured, back water SWINE. What self respecting demon CAN'T quote a few pages? Doesn't have at LEAST one favorite phrase? Do you even HAVE a heart that beats?!
Imagine the Chaos.
You get reborn. Not far from the Divide between worlds. Well shit... that's not ideal. But hey, you can't still turn this around! It's not like your years of Nerd Contemplations are for nothing! Much like a certain Cucumber, you ALSO sorta had a low-key plan. Never thought you'd USE it... but like? Guess life decided to have a laugh. Jokes on you, I GUESS.
You have a system. It's not a railroad-y Plot Supervisor System. It's a Spin-Off/Prequel/Regressor Story System. Yeah, their depart has a LOT of overlap. Things can change super fast, one way or another. You gotta adapt. Spin the New Plot in whatever way makes for the best Story.
Obviously? You don't trust it. This seems surprisingly chill. (Oh, it is, my beautiful lil butterfly. For YOU. Everyone else is gonna be in Hell. Please continue to cause problems! Thank you for all your hard work~☆) But, you guess you'll go with it? (Oh please do~☆)
First problem? You need to eat. Everything sucks and all these fuckers are bastards. Social safety nets? Whoms't?? Forget cultivation, first you need to Not Starve. Thank god for basic education. It really DOES open a lot of doors. You can crunch numbers, write notes, sit at a desk for people. It pays.
And? You notice? All these "I'm DEFINITELY a human. Don't ask questions you can't afford and won't survive" Distinguished Quests? Complain about insipid Human Culture and Poetry.
Huh.
You take a look.
......not gonna lie. It's? Pretty basic. Milk toast. "Your lips are like flowers" and "you are a butterfly" Sort of thing. Where is the imagery? The romance? The ANGUISH or PASSION? The humble, lasting adoration? For fucks sake. At least compare me to something that doesn't suggest my weakness and an obsession with youth alone!
So you brush off your nerd cred. Turn towards you System. Hey. You got ANYTHING in your Market... Right? (Yeeeeees? Why?) *purchases both Klingon and Mandalorian Poetry Classics, Volume 1* (OH~?) Because GUESS WHO CAN READ THESE? And, more importantly, TRANSLATE these.
Do you take credit? No. It feels wrong. But will you sell your TRANSLATIONS? Oh absolutely. Gimme my money. You'll absolutely credit the real authors, but a b*tch gotta live, damn it. And rice does not buy itself.
It? Goes? Gang busters.
Talk of the town. It's horrible! Violent! A perversion of literature! Say the humans. No one should EVER buy it! Or READ it! (So obviously everyone does.) The Demons? Have found THE single book from humans they can all agree they, bare minimum, at least kinda like. The majority LOVE it.
A certain Heavenly Demon LOVES it. It is, no joke, the move emotionally evocative poetry he's ever read. Granted, he's more of a smut guy. But STILL! Those other books? Are for fun. THIS? Is for EMOTION. For ROMANCE.
Sects try to ban it. Nobles try to ban it. Predictably, that only makes the problem worse.
You get your fuckin rice. A better winter jacket. Can finally quit your shit job. Take for a... slightly suspect (who's blood is this?) (Don't ask questions you don't actually want the answers too~ ^-^) Cultivation guide.
Send Volume 2 out for print.
The fall out is unhinged.
People think you're a Demon. Some demons want in their court. Others want to marry you. Still others want you dead. The humans? Oh how DARE the demons suggest they have a culture of their own! That they may be more then just animals, to be blamed for all wickedness, and slaughtered in mass. Demons? Capable of EMOTION? Kill it! Kill it before it gives people IDEAS!!!
You just wanted to eat, man. Publish more, out of spite.
Just? A one person LIBRARY of pop culture. A repository of nerdom. And all the stories that come with it. Wandering around, dropping Cultural bombs on the unsuspecting Martial World. Not confronting. Not arguing. Just... *slides a book across the table. Waits* Knowing that natual human curiosity will do the rest.
That the younger generations WILL read what they are specifically told not too. Because it's not like there's and dangerous techniques in there! It's just "degenerate". And? Much like the scare mongering around weed?
Once you find out that it's NOT going to instantly kill you, as warned? That's "not THAT bad"? Or at worst "meh", in your personal opinion? Well... what ELSE are they wrong about?
You can't hide forever~
All while the System is quietly cackling. Leading its lil Butterfly on a merry little wing flapping adventure. Fucking with the timeline, so the Regressors (orders finally came down from on high! This is a Regressor Story! But.... not for you!) get to have a HELL of a time, trying to manage "the timeline" they once knew. Makes for an interesting Plot, you know!
(200B points! If you include that poem about rumor mongering being a blade in the back!)
*various Cultivators take highly pointed psychic damage*
(Nyehehehehe~ >:3c )

(cw: f!reader, suggestive comments)
"You do know spring break is only a week, right?" Fratboy!Jaehyun asks with an arched brow.
You guys were only going on vacation for five days, not a whole year. This was the 700th package that you'd had delivered because you "needed" it for vacation. He hoped you understood that you were all just going to the beach... not a remote island that had never seen any humans before. The beach town you were going to had stores, had restaurants, had rental homes that you had all splurged on, it had everything anyone would need. Jaehyun was, to say the very least, confused as to why you felt the need to buy a whole new wardrobe. You had summer clothes! You had bathing suits! He didn't think there was any need to reinvent yourself for five days.
"Okay, but this one is so cute!" You pout as you reenter the room, now dressed in one of his shirts. You closed the door behind you and plopped yourself on his bed while reaching for the slim package you'd thrown just a minute ago when you got here.
Jaehyun watched as you tear open the package and pull out a small bundle of light blue... string? You squeal excitedly, "wait! Baby, oh my god! This is s much better than on the website!" You wiggle one hand at him, showing off your nails, "it's going to match perfectly!"
You hand the small bundle to you boyfriend while you toss the packaging in the trash. Jaehyun flicks his gaze from you to the blue wad in his hand. "What am I looking at here?" He asks.
You start to unravel it, pulling it apart to reveal exactly what Jaehyun had suspected. Two strings. Jaehyun holds one and you hold the other. You lift the one in your hand, squealing with excitement and a bright smile, "I'm actually going to scream. It's perfect!"
He continues to stare at you like you grew a second head, "I'm confused."
You compare both pieces, a smile on your face as you twist the string around your fingers, "well, I'm holding the top and you're holding the bottoms."
"The top and bottom of what?" Jaehyun coughs out, eyes wide and cheeks read.
You cock your head and roll your eyes, "Jae, please be serious. You know I've been ordering stuff for spring break."
"But you told me you were only wearing sandals for the whole trip. I watched you open packages with six pairs of shoes for a five day trip," Jaehyun details, slowly, hoping that thinking out loud will help him understand.
"I am wearing sandals, this isn't for shoes. It's for me to wear! It's a bikini!" You state excitedly.
He doesn't waste a single second, "you're joking."
"I've been really working on being more body positive, so the girls helped me pick this out! The patterns isn't usually something I'd really go for, but I'm trying to broaden my horizons," you explain casually.
Jaehyun stares at you with with a mix of confusion and exasperation. Okay, yay to body positivity, but you were each holding a string. A string! A string no wider than his pinky nail at that! And- and! What fucking pattern were you talking about?! These were plain, light blue looking shoe laces!
He closed his eyes and exhaled for a moment, "alright, maybe I'm not hearing you correctly. This is your bathing suit?"
You nod, "yes."
Perfect, just perfect. Unfortunately, he did hear you correctly. He throws his free hand up, shaking the string around, "this is a shoe lace! What is this going to cover?!"
"You're so conservative, baby. It's actually really popular right now, it's trendy," you tell him with a nod.
He holds the string up between his legs, "if I wore something like this, my parts would be hanging out! A string isn't going to cover anything, Sweetheart!"
"Well, you have different parts than I do," you sigh, "plus, you don't even know how to do it right. It takes some finessing to get the cutest style."
"I've seen your parts! I've been all up in your parts! No matter how you finesse this, nothing is getting covered, Sweet Girl," Jaehyun borderline cries out, overwhelmed with stress.
You pout, reaching out to kick his thigh lightly, "I was really excited to show this to you and you're making me feel bad."
"Sweetheart, I'm not trying to make you feel bad. I just have never been more confused in my life. Please, tell me you're joking," he tells you quietly, feeling bad that he killed your excitement.
You crack a smile, leaning in to cup his cheeks and pepper his face with kisses, "I was just joking, baby. I got these shoe laces for some sneakers I have."
He lets out a sigh of relief, "I swear I was going to have a heart attack."
You giggle against his lips, "you're so gullible, baby."
"Maybe you can make it up to me by wearing these skimpy little strings just for me," Jaehyun mumbles against your lips.
You break the kiss and roll your eyes, placing a hand on his chest to push him away gently, "you're a freak."
