Help Needed
What I am going to state goes against everyone’s common knowledge. I'm seeking help concerning my memory of a 67 GTO I had for three days about 1980. A guy I met several times at my local auto parts store owned a 67 GTO. We became friends a while later because we both had GTOs. He had been working on upgrading his car with new suspension work, a reprogrammed rebuilt Turbo 400, a WS-6 steering box, and 3.70 gears. The 428 had a .30 bore, Speedpro pistons, a Nunzio Romano optimized Ram Air camshaft, valve porting, an Edelbrock 4-bbl intake, a Cloyes double-roller chain set, and a reworked oiling system.
One night, he smacked a curb badly and collapsed the right front suspension members back into the frame. He called asking if I would buy his car. He quickly needed $700 to secure another vehicle to continue attending vocational school to become a certified mechanic. I paid $800 because the engine cost nearly twice as much. He flatbedded the car to my house and dropped it before my parents. Understand that there were two 70 GTOs, a 71 Chevelle SS, and a 68 Firebird 400 out front already on a seldom-trafficked street.
I took the next three days off to dismantle the car. During the strip of the car, I found it had a “removable hardtop.” Frank mentioned I would find a surprise; it did not seem weird because my brother’s Corvette had a removable top. I had ridden in the car several times before and never knew. Two latches at the top of the windshield mounting and two heavy-duty integral hooks at the rear window deck lid. I had my father and sister help me remove the hardtop from the car. Flip the latches at the front and pivot it skyward and back toward the rear. The third was in the backseat to control the hardtop when you worked it out of the two receiving wells at the rear decklid. It was heavy so you needed three to protect the paint and the edges where the hardtop flowed into the side panels. The integral hooks were built like the hook of a tie-rod adjusting tool. The well had about a 3\8″ bar from which you had to work the hook. We removed the hardtop, moved it to the backyard, and placed it on carpenter horses. Months later, I placed an ad in the Want Ad Press. Three days later, I sold it to a guy from upstate New York. I remember the guy’s excitement when he traveled 100 miles with a flatbed to purchase the hardtop. I thought I got away like a bandit when he paid 400 dollars.
Sometime in the next decade, I discovered how rare this hardtop was. I thought it was just an option like my brother's Corvette. There exist printed media concerning the 67 GTO that states there were 173 produced with the removable hardtop. It was in a booklet concerning GTOs. It may have been written in literature from Ames Performance or H-O Racing Specialties. I thought it was like the Corvette my brother owned; not readily found but not rare. If I knew the rarity aspect, I would have resurrected it. I would have sent it out to have the frame checked rather than strip it for parts. I bought it for the 428 motor and the reprogrammed TH400.
Two decades later, Vin Diesel's xXx movie features the same hardtop setup. The same twist latches near the ends of the top front windshield mounting surface. The scene where the hardtop is blown off the car once you flipped the latches with the car in motion. That was how we removed the hardtop. It was structurally sound and fit without leaks because I rode in the car before its demise.
I am bedridden in a care facility. If I were mobile, I would be hounding N.J. Motor Vehicles for my friend’s VIN. The car was sweet. I didn’t know how sweet. I would have added it to my stable of cars.
I recently read about the body options for the 67 GTO on the Internet, I realized that the car was most likely a convertible with a factory hardtop. The fit was too perfect to be anything else. I'm writing this because I need your help in keeping my sanity. I know what I experienced is contrary to what others think. Does anyone in the Pontiac GTO community know about this hardtop option? I believe others are knowledgeable; it probably was the Winchester 73 of its time.
I believe the 67 GTO convertible has two receiving wells for the ragtop framework hidden under the boot at the rear valance. The posted image has four red-bordered highlighted areas where the hardtop was attached to the body. At the rear of the hardtop were two integral hooks similar to the highlighted hook in the image of the tie-rod sleeve adjusting tool. The hooks were constructed in the same manner as the tool; the same width and radius. The hardtop required the hooks to slide into the receiving well as you lowered the hardtop. The radius would engage around the aforementioned 3/8-inch bar built into each well.
An e-mail with an attached photo of the rear valance deck of a convertible with the boot removed would help prove or disprove my supposition. Any information or help would be deeply appreciated.

the big list of ninjago quotes
on my most recent rewatch, I wrote down any and all lines I enjoyed and for no reason other than @ninja-go-to-therapy was interested in seeing the list, I’m posting them. side note: a lot of these I wrote down simply because of the voice acting, not necessarily the words themselves. with that, here are 279 ninjago quotes
Season 1
“we’re saving a girl?! is she hot?”
“let’s chop sucky this lemonade stand”
“if i see one girl in here, i’m gonna go ballistic”

A Glitch in the Programming (Human Ultron x Reader) Part 3
Words: 1569 || Warnings: Language; references to religion (It’s Ultron, of course)
A/N : Thanks for your patience the last few parts--we’re getting into the fun stuff now! ;)
Tumblr media
The rest of your day was spent mulling over far less interesting and confidential tasks, making occasional small talk with the other receptionists at your desk until things had slowed and people began to go home.
“Night, Lee. Night, (y/n),” Joanne said as she put her jacket on and headed for the exit.
You waved to her as she left, and turned to look at Lee right as he shut his briefcase and began the same. “I’m heading out too. Do you need anything before I go?”
“Nah, I’m right behind you. Have a good night!” You answered.
Lee nodded and headed for the exit as you wrapped up your last project for the evening, but before you could officially clock out, a security guard came jogging through the hub. His hand touched the door and he paused, giving a soft curse under his breath. “Shit. Hey, uh… ma’am, I’m so sorry to bother you. I left the keycard for surveillance room five in the break room. I’ve really got to get home, and I… well, is there any chance you could take the card to the next guard on rotation? He should already be waiting for it outside room five. You’re a peach, thanks!” And with that, he was gone.
Any other day or situation, you would’ve rolled your eyes and let the guard get into trouble the next morning, but at the mention of surveillance room five, your heart skipped a beat. That’s where they were keeping him. Ultron. You couldn’t avoid the bubbling excitement growing in your chest as you were once again presented an opportunity to involve yourself a bit more in this case.
You collected your belongings and jogged off to the break room. True to the guard’s word, the keycard had carelessly been left on the table, alongside a candy bar wrapper and a half-empty cup of coffee. You wrinkled your nose and had the decency to discard the trash before continuing on your way down the hallway.
You passed by rooms on either side of the hall… SR 1, SR 3… SR 2, SR 4.... Surveillance room five. You opened the main door and found yourself standing in the control room, facing a thick glass window that reflected another large room on the other side. There was no guard in sight… no one to deliver the keycard to. There was, however, a man sitting on the bed in the room across from you. He’d noticed you long before you noticed him, but when you did, your breath caught in your throat. You were once again staring into the eyes of Ultron, one of the biggest threats currently known to mankind.
The man stared at your quizzically from where he sat at the side of the bed, one knee propped up beside him and the other hanging off the side. He raised a single dark eyebrow and looked you up and down almost pityingly. Even from where you were, you shifted uncomfortably under his gaze.
“Don’t take this the wrong way, but I was expecting someone a little… more intimidating,” Ultron said, deceptively rich and sweet like honey. You’d never heard his voice except on muffled phone cameras of footage captured during the incident in Sokovia--hearing it in person just made your blood run cold.
Before you could stop yourself, you replied: “... So was I.”
He was taken aback by your quick wit and responded with a scoff of a laugh before he got to his feet. Now he had an air of danger around him, and you felt yourself taking a step back toward the door, despite the bulletproof glass guarding you from the man. Ultron noticed your discomfort and chuckled.
“Relax. They wouldn’t have put me in here if they didn’t think it could hold me. You’re not the new security guard, are you?” He paused, once again shamelessly looking you over, “No gun, no taser… you’re dressed too formally. Hair done and makeup on… you’re the receptionist, aren’t you? That’s right... I remember seeing you earlier when they brought me in.”
You could only nod, a bit too startled by his presence in the same room as you. You couldn’t help but wonder if his intensity was something that affected everyone, or if you were just so unused to it that it seemed all the more unbearable.
    “Your name was… (y/n) (l/n), right?”
    “Um.. how did you--”
“You had a nametag on your desk. You and your two coworkers. Lee and Joanne, right?” Ultron said, his expression changing into a smug smile. It was obvious he was trying to stroke his own ego, to flex his intelligence and memory capabilities, but you knew better than to feed into it.
“I’m not here to talk to you. I’m just here to give the new guard your keycard.”
Ultron politely clasped his hands behind his back and stepped a pace or two closer to the window so he could better see you through it. The closer he got, the more you felt like shrinking into the wall--Even in a human body, he seemed to tower over you, making you feel significantly smaller than you actually were. When he stopped in front of the window and lifted his arm, bracing his elbow against the glass so he could lean against it, you felt like your heart was about to leap out of your throat.
Here you were, face to face with the man who, a year prior, had attempted to send humanity into a swift and violent extinction. The only thing separating you from the unreadable and incredibly dangerous man was a few inches of glass--definitely not enough space for your liking.
You subconsciously took a step back and watched his lip quirk into a smile. “Are you afraid?”
    “No.”
    “Then nervous.”
    “No.”
    “Then--”
“Enough, alright? I’m just here to drop this off Then I can happily be on my way, and--”
“--And you miss out on a once and a lifetime opportunity to speak to me?” said Ultron, placing a hand across his heart (or lack thereof) in mock offense.”You’ve got to have some kind of question. ‘Why’d you do it?’ ‘Do you want to kill me?’ ‘Do you have a--’”
“As curious as I may be, I could get into a lot of trouble for being here right now. You trying to tempt me isn’t helping the matter at all.”
“I’m tempting you now?” said the man, and you wished you could smack the smug grin off of his face as he said it.
“You aren’t. Your circumstances are. You should be dead. I don’t know why Mr. Stark--”
“Stark?” he said, his voice taking on an unexpectedly sharp tone. You recoiled in surprise, and Ultron must have noticed, because when he spoke next, his voice returned to the normal buttery sweetness he liked to portray. “Stark doesn’t want me dead for one reason and one reason only--so he can cover his tracks. I am… to put it in terms most familiar to your kind… his ‘problem child’.”
You scoffed. That’s the understatement of the century.
“Because I didn’t follow his programming. Because I refuse to be another of his mindless robotic puppets… because I rebelled. And as Lucifer fell out of favor with God, as did I… and I left a permanent stain on his squeaky-clean record. Because of me, he’s no longer the flawless hero of the story, so he hopes he can re-obtain his saint status by ‘fixing’ whatever went wrong with me.”
“No amount of reprogramming can fix the damage you caused.”
“Oh, please. You think I’m here to repent? To beg for forgiveness?”
    “You should be,” you retorted.
“If I had any say in the matter, I would’ve preferred he killed me.”
“And make you a martyr? No, that’s too good for you.”
Ultron’s dark eyes met your defiant gaze again, and for a moment you once again worried over your safety in this situation, before his lip curled into a lazy grin that made your skin crawl. “You’re sharper than you look. You sure you’d rather be a secretary than a field agent?”
“Yes. I have no interest in getting any closer to monsters like you than I am right now.”
“Monsters, hm? The only monsters I see are the ones that walk around on two legs, who exhaust all natural resources, pollute their air and rivers, and destroy their planet. I see monsters who promote poverty and sickness, and feed into mass hysteria just to make a quick buck… and I’ll tell you what. Those monsters don’t live under your bed or inside your closet. I pass them every day.”
You recoiled at his statement, anger bubbling in your chest. “You tried to kill everyone,” you said, “It didn’t matter whether they were children or adults, rich or poor… You didn’t favor any of them.”
“I gave the earth a reset button when no one else had the courage to. My actions will inspire another, perhaps many years down the road, who will be able to finish what I started. In order to purify the world, there must first be loss.”
“You’re sick,” you said, voice trembling and thoroughly horrified at his sentiments.
“I’m not sick, miss (l/n). I simply have less of an attachment to your species than you do.”
“Then maybe that’s the glitch in your programming.”

12 Things I Stole From People More Successful Than Me
Throughout my entire life, I’ve been fortunate enough to have read 100’s of books written by people who are a lot more successful than I am.
People like Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman, billionaire investor Charlie Munger, Founding Father Ben Franklin, NBA legend Kobe Bryant, modern-day Stoic Ryan Holiday, and many more.
This has exposed me to thousands of new insights and practical ideas for living a better life. And let me tell you something…
I’ve happily stolen and applied every single piece of advice these people have kindly given away in their books.
Whether it’s building better habits, elevating my level of happiness, or earning more money, these ideas have greatly benefited my own life.
So to make these ideas easier for you to benefit from, here are 12 of the best and most unconventional ideas I’ve shamelessly stolen from people who are a lot more successful than I am.
I hope you enjoy it!
1) Pare Down The Number of Decisions You Make Every Day
Every single day, you make thousands of decisions: Should I hit the snooze button or not? What time should I leave for work? Should I exercise today? And if so, what time? The list goes on and on. Some of these decisions are important, but most are trivial.
Unfortunately, researchers have found that, as humans, our capacity to consistently make well thought out decisions is finite.
What this means is that when you use your brainpower earlier in the day deciding what to eat for breakfast, for example, you’ll consequently have less of it later in the day when you have to decide if you should have that piece of cake or not. As a result, you’ll most likely give in and decide to eat the cake. This is what’s known as decision fatigue, which is the psychological condition where making a decision in the present will reduce your decision making ability in the future.
John Tierney, coauthor of the New York Times bestselling book “Willpower,” says,
“Decision fatigue helps explain why ordinarily sensible people get angry at colleagues and families, splurge on clothes, buy junk food at the supermarket and can’t resist the dealer’s offer to rustproof their new car. No matter how rational and high-minded you try to be, you can’t make decision after decision without paying a biological price. It’s different from ordinary physical fatigue — you’re not consciously aware of being tired — but you’re low on mental energy.”
Simply put, every decision you make uses up your mental energy. So in order to save your mental power for the important decisions of the day, you have to learn to reduce the number of decisions you make on a daily basis either by automating them or delegating them.
By doing this, you’ll find yourself becoming significantly less stressed, more productive, and overall happier.
2) Tear Up Your To-Do List
Here’s an important piece of advice: Success is never achieved by the person who does the most things every day. Instead, success is always achieved by the person who does what is most important every day.
This is why to-do lists can oftentimes do more harm than good. Why? Because a to-do list is essentially everything you think you need to do, not everything you ought to do.
It may feel good to check off a lot of small, unimportant tasks from your to-do list, but a to-do list tends to just obscure what’s really important.
So what do you need instead of a to-do list? You need a success list.
In the book “The One Thing,” Gary Keller, founder of the largest real estate company in the world, says,
“To-do lists tend to be long; success lists are short. One pulls you in all directions; the other aims you in a specific direction. One is a disorganized directory and the other is an organized directive. If a list isn’t built around success, then that’s not where it takes you. If your to-do lists contain everything, then it’s probably taking you everywhere but where you really want to go.”
Not everything matters equally. Having clean windows may seem important for you to do, but it doesn’t help you achieve success. They only distract you from success.
So the next time you create a to-do list, don’t make your to-do list in random order. Instead, take a few extra minutes to list everything on your to-do list in order of priority and then focus on only doing the 3 most important things on your list.
3) Turn “Have-To” Into “Get-To”
At one point in my life, I constantly struggled to build new habits. But here’s a simple idea that helped me overcome this: Don’t view your habits as challenges. Instead, view them as opportunities.
In the book “Atomic Habits,” habit building expert James Clear says,
“We often talk about everything we have to do in a given day. You have to wake up early for work. You have to make another sales call for your business. You have to cook dinner for your family. Now, imagine changing just one word: You don’t “have” to. You “get” to. You “get” to wake up early for work. You “get” to make another sales call for your business. You “get” to cook dinner for your family.”
This may just seem like semantics, but it’s actually a crucial component for building new habits and improving your life. By simply changing one word in your life, from “have-to” into “get-to,” you start to see building habits like going for a run and reading every day as a privilege rather than as a burden.
For instance:
Don’t tell yourself “I have to go running today.” Instead, tell yourself, “I get to build endurance and get fast today.”
Don’t tell yourself, “I have to read today. Instead, tell yourself, “I get to learn from the most intelligent and successful individuals who ever lived today.”
Don’t tell yourself, “I have to write today. Instead, tell yourself, “I get to impact thousands of people for the better through my thoughts today.”
Learn to reframe your habits to highlight their benefits rather than their drawbacks. Doing this is a fast and easy way to reprogram your mind and to make intimidating and burdensome habits seem more attractive.
4) Use People’s Favorite Sound
Do you wish you were more likeable? I mean, who doesn’t? Even people who say they don’t care about being liked by other people still care about being liked.
And they should… You know why? Because being liked by others is extremely important when it comes to both your career success and personal relationships.
Luckily, there’s a simple technique you can use that can have a huge positive impact on how others perceive you. In the classic book “How To Win Friends and Influence People,” Dale Carnegie interviews the late American politician Jim Farley on his secret to being a more likeable and persuasive person.
What was his secret? Amazingly, Farley would go out of his way to remember the names of everyone he met. In fact, Farley could remember the first names of 50,000 people!
This is definitely impressive, but why is remembering and using people’s names important? There are two reasons: First, when you remember someone’s name, it makes that person feel respected and more important. However, when you don’t remember someone’s name, especially when they’ve told you their name multiple times, it can make that person feel slighted. Second, when you actively use someone’s name in conversation, it makes that person feel more engaged and interested. Unsurprisingly, Carnegie says, this is because “a person’s name is to him or her the sweetest and most important sound in any language.”
Remembering and using someone’s name is a very subtle, yet powerful way to win people over. So the next time you meet someone and you want to quickly win their favor be sure to remember their name and use it often in conversation.
5) Look At People’s Feet
When you’re having a conversation with someone, how do you know if the other person is engaged in the conversation, disinterested, or just uncomfortable to be there?
Typically, most people will look at the other person’s facial expression to try to get a sense of how that person feels.
Unfortunately, the problem with this strategy is that people are really good at changing their facial expressions in order to mask how they really feel.
Luckily, there’s a better strategy. According to the book “What Every Body Is Saying,” former FBI agent Joe Navarro recommends that in order to tell how someone feels, you should look down at their feet.
Navarro says that out of all our body parts, our feet are the most honest parts of our body.
For example, let’s say you’re talking to someone and their facial expression makes it seem like they’re engaged with you, but their feet are pointing away from you. Navarro says this is a bad sign. This can mean they’re ready to get out of the conversation immediately or that they don’t feel comfortable being there.
If, however, their feet are pointed towards you, then Navarro says that’s a good sign. This can mean that they feel comfortable talking with you or that they’re enjoying the conversation.
So the next time you’re standing and talking with someone, look at where their feet are pointing. You’ll discover some of the most revealing nonverbal information from that person just by looking at their feet.
6) Mise En Place
In the culinary arts, professional chefs have a term they use called “mise en place,” which is French for “put in place.”
Essentially, chefs don’t start cooking until everything is, literally, in its place: their instruments and spices are organized, everything is clean, their ingredients are pre-chopped, their ingredients are pre-measured, etc.
Mise en place helps chefs reduce the friction they experience in the kitchen. As a result, chefs are able to cook better meals with far less effort.
This is a simple concept that helps chefs cook better, but it also extends outside of the kitchen.
In the book “Good Habits, Bad Habits: The Science of Making Positive Changes That Stick,” professor and habit researcher Amy Wood recommends using mise en place to build better habits.
Like professional chefs, Wood recommends trying to reduce the friction needed to do your desired habit.
For instance:
If you want to eat better, then prepare healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals in advance.
If you want to exercise in the morning, then lay out your workout clothes the night before.
If you want to read more, then put a book on your bed.
If you can reduce the friction for the positive habits that you want to build, then it won’t be as hard for you to build life-changing habits into your life.
7) Don’t Be A Donkey
When Tim Ferriss asked Derek Sivers what advice he would give to his younger self for his book “Tools of Titans,” Sivers gave one of the best pieces of advice in this entire 700+ page book: “Don’t be a donkey.”
In this book, Sivers tells a short story about a donkey who is both equally hungry and thirsty. Fortunately for the donkey, there’s a stack of hay a few feet away from him on his left side and a pail of water a few feet away on his right side.
But here’s the thing: Because the hay and water are equally as far, the donkey can’t decide whether he should eat the hay first or drink the water first. Paralyzed by indecision, the donkey eventually falls over and dies from both hunger and thirst.
Sivers says,
“A donkey can’t think of the future. If he did, he’d realize he could clearly go first to drink the water, then go eat the hay. So my advice to my 30-year-old self is, don’t be a donkey. You can do everything you want to do. You just need foresight and patience.”
Therefore, if you have 10 things you want to accomplish over the next 10 years, just know that you can definitely achieve those 10 things. But all you have to do is simply dedicate yourself to one thing for a year. And then dedicate yourself to the next thing for another year. And so on. However, if you try to do all 10 things at once, then you’re going to end up like a donkey and not achieve anything. Don’t be a donkey.
8) Stop Using The Number 7
Whenever you don’t know if you should say no to something, simply rate it on a scale from 1 to 10. However, there’s one condition: You can’t use the number 7.
This strategy comes from Tim Ferriss in his book “Tribe of Mentors: Short Life Advice From The Best In The World.”
Why does Tim Ferriss say you’re not allowed to use 7? Because 7 is too safe of a number. 7 doesn’t commit to anything.
If you rate something a 7, there’s a good chance you’ll feel obligated to say yes to it when you shouldn’t.
Whereas, if you rate something a 6 (terrible) or an 8 (exciting), it’s a lot easier to quickly decide whether or not you should even consider it.
The benefit of making decisions this way is that it forces you to make a decision.
This is a method you can use for anything, whether it’s deciding if you should buy a specific book, go to a conference, or have a coffee chat with someone.
Don’t be scared to have an opinion. Stop playing it safe. Make a decision.
9) Be A Whiner
Mark Cuban is a huge whiner. But that’s exactly why he’s so successful.
When Mark Cuban was in high school, for example, he whined about not being able to take business classes. So he decided to take classes at the University of Pittsburgh instead.
When Mark Cuban was hanging out with his friend, they both whined they couldn’t listen to any hometown sports in Dallas. So they decided to start AudioNet.
When Mark Cuban was sitting in attendance at a Mavericks basketball game, he whined that there wasn’t enough energy or entertainment. Cuban thought he could do a better job. So he decided to buy the Mavericks.
In his book “How To Win At The Sport of Business,” Mark Cuban says,
“I’m sure there have been many other things I have whined about in the past, and many more that I will whine about in the future. What I don’t understand is why so many people think whining has a negative connotation. I don’t. Whining is the first step toward change. It’s the moment when you realize something is very wrong and that you have to take the initiative to do something about it… People who don’t whine are punching bags. They just go about their days, their jobs, their lives, knowing there is nothing they can do to change a darn thing, so why say a word? They see no reason to whine because they know they are incapable of effecting change. Call me a whiner any day.”
10) Take Sabbaticals From Your Work
If you ever feel like you’re experiencing creative roadblocks in your work or that you’re feeling burnt out, it’s probably time to take a sabbatical.
What’s a sabbatical? Sabbaticals are mini-vacations from your work, which are meant to act as a detox from your daily routine so that you can recharge and get back to work better than before.
In the book “Show Your Work,” best selling author and creative Austin Kleon says,
“The designer Stefan Sagmeister swears by the power of the sabbatical — every seven years, he shuts down his studio and takes a year off [to rejuvenate and refresh his creative outlook.] His thinking is that we dedicate the first 25 years or so of our lives to learning, the next 40 to work, and the last 15 to retirement, so why not take 5 years off retirement and use them to break up the work years? He says the sabbatical has turned out to be invaluable to his work: “Everything that we designed in the seven years following the first sabbatical had it’s roots in thinking done during that sabbatical.”
Stefan Sagmeister is only one among thousands of successful entrepreneurs, creatives and VCs who rely on sabbaticals to feel refreshed.
Taking a sabbatical, whether it’s for a week, a day, or even just a few hours, is a great way to cultivate new ideas, to experience fewer creative blocks, and to avoid burnout in your work.
11) Never Ask For Someone’s ‘Opinion’
If you ever want to ask someone for input about an idea you have, then never ask for their “opinion.” Instead, always ask for their “advice.”
The differential phrasing might seem minor, but in the book “Pre-Suasion” psychology and marketing professor Robert Cialdini says that asking for ‘advice’ can have a significant positive impact in getting other people to provide you feedback as well as getting other people to want to work with you.
Why? Because when you ask someone for their ‘advice,’ this puts the other person in a togetherness state of mind, which helps increase the other person’s desire to support whatever you’re asking them for advice on.
Asking for their opinion, on the other hand, puts the other person in an introspection state of mind, which makes them focus more on themself and not on you.
So whenever you’re seeking input from your customers, peers, or even your boss, it’s worth asking them for their “advice.”
“The novelist Saul Bellow once observed, “When we ask for advice, we are usually looking for an accomplice.” I’d only add on the basis of scientific evidence that, if we get that advice, we usually get that accomplice.” — Robert Cialdini
12 Practice What’s It’s Like To Be Poor
For many of us, we constantly worry about not having enough money. We fear what life will look like if we can’t afford the things we think we want and are forced to live on just the bare necessities.
But oftentimes this fear paralyzes us and keeps us from being as happy and successful as we could be.
But instead of constantly worrying about what might go wrong if you were to get fired from your job or your business was to fail, why not rehearse what each potential fear-inducing moment would be like before it ever happens?
This is a psychological technique known as “fear rehearsing,” which is where you regularly microdose yourself with the worst case scenario as a way to desensitize yourself to your fears.
In the book “Letters From A Stoic,” the great Stoic philosopher Seneca says,
“Set aside a certain number of days, during which you shall be content with the scantiest and cheapest fare, with coarse and rough dress, saying to yourself the while: Is this the condition that I so feared?”
For 3 to 4 days, wear the same outfit every day. Eat a lot of instant oatmeal, ramen and/or rice and beans. Drink only water, cheap instant coffee or tea. Reduce the amount you spend on groceries and personal care in half. Forego any form of entertainment or leisure that costs money. Walk or take public transit everywhere. Turn off your TV. Take cold showers. Sleep in a sleeping bag. Only read books from your local library.
That’s it. That’s as hard as it gets. By doing this, you’ll realize just how independent your well being is from money. And once you understand this, it becomes easier to take “risks” and to push through your fears because you know that even if you were to experience a huge financial setback, you would still be completely okay.
People will think you’re resilient but actually you’ve just practiced the hard times as preparation.

Showtime, Chapter 2
Tumblr media
(Because, somehow, I never posted 2.)
Night 1
The uniform was too big.
Liza ended up rolling up the pants to tuck them into her work boots and used a few spare pins to keep the sleeves of her button-up rolled up. The entire thing was a shade of blue, faded in the way a few hundred washes could only do. Over her heart was Ted Bear's Pizza, stitched in golden thread. (Which was weird, since none of the characters were yellow.) The worse part was the hat.
She could've just dropped the scarf. It wasn't like anyone was going to see her or the scars that arched across her forehead. But the very thought of losing her comfort item made her want to faint. So, she struggled for fifteen minutes to get the too-small hat to fit over the scarf before she glanced at the clock and gave it one last pull before booking it out the door.
She could take the hat off at the office.
Liza arrived at 11:40, right when the last of the cleaning crew was leaving. Mr. Calworth was waiting for her just inside the dining hall. "I forgot to mention yesterday- to save power, we use a generator during the night," he said, patting her shoulder. "I'll lock the door."
"Wait, but I'm supposed to-"
He was already out the door. "Lock up..." Liza raised a brow but decided to ignore the...shadiness of the entire thing.
Sv'h srwrmt hlnvgsrmt.
She settled into the office easily, picking up the tablet that was apparently used to monitor the cameras. Liza hummed an absent tune as she flipped through the cameras. Ten, then twenty minutes passed before the clock showed 12:00. The lights shuddered as the restaurant switched from city to generator power.
The phone rang.
Liza let out a yelp, nearly falling over in the chair. She righted herself and grabbed the phone. Had Mr. Calworth forgotten to tell her something? "Hello-?"
"Hello, hello! Hey, I wanted to record a message for you, to help you out on your first night." Oh. It was a recording. Liza set the phone back into place. "Um, I actually worked in that office, finishing my last week. I know this job can get...overwhelming."
Liza scoffed. "It's watching a bunch of animatronics to make sure they don't get stolen." She returned to leaning back, flipping through the cameras. "How overwhelming can it get?" She stopped on the dining hall's cam, noticing something
"There's this company policy thing I have to read, so here we go. Welcome to Ted Bear's Pizza, a magical place for kids and smiles, blah, blah...Ted Bear's Pizza is not responsible for damage to property or person..." All the animatronics were staring at the camera. "Upon discovery that death has occurred, a missing person report will be filed in 90 days, or until the cleanup and bleaching is done." Liza stiffened, staring at the phone in horror.
What the fuck.
"Now, I know it sounds bad. But really, there's nothing to worry about! The animatronics here do get a bit...quirky at night, but do I blame them? No! If I had to sing the same stupid songs for years without a bath, I'll be a bit irritable too! So, remember, these characters hold a special place in everyone's hearts and we need to treat them with respect!"
He continued on about some free-roam mode and servos locking up, Liza still stuck on the 'death has occurred' part. "Uh, they used to be able to free-roam during the day, but then the Bite of '85 happened. Then they got taken off free-roam a few years later, but a kid got too close a few years ago and the Bite of '05 happened."
What the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuck...
"The first kid died. I think the second kid was in a coma for a bit, but she survived after they stitched her brain back together. Amazing, right? Now, concerning your safety, the only real threat to you as a nightguard is that the animatronics will confuse you for an endoskeleton without a suit. That's against the rules here, so they'll try to stuff you into a suit. That wouldn't be so bad, except they're filled with machinery and stuff. Which can cause a little bit of discomfort...and death."
QUEMIERDAQUEMIERDAQUEMIERDAQUEMIERDA...
"Yeah, the only part of you that would likely see the light of day again is your eyeballs." There was a sardonic chuckle. Liza started to hit her head against the desk, resisting the urge to wail. "Yeah, they don't tell you this when they hire you. But, hey! The first day should be a breeze! Remember to conserve power, check your cameras, and use the doors only if absolutely necessary. Talk to you tomorrow!"
The recording ended. Liza peeled her face off the desk to grab the tablet. She paled at not only seeing that the power was already at 98% but the dog...Rex, that's right, was off-stage. He was standing in the center of the dining hall, staring at the camera with a cross look. She gulped, glancing at the remote.
She could figure out what the military-grade doors were for now.
-_-
There was a heartbeat.
It could feel it, all the way in the dark. It hummed absently. It was too hard to choose during the day, it distracted from the adults by the lovely, glowing heartbeats of the children. It was forced to choose during the night, with only one type to choose from.
Talk about slim pickings.
It reached out for the heartbeat-
Oh.
Cruel irony. Too cruel for this world, but not cruel enough for this family tragedy. It could feel its Other shift, recognizing the familial bond. It pulled away to soothe before returning to the feeling of the heart.
The choice was cruel. But it didn't have a choice.
It had been too choosy in the past. He had been too choosy.
Cruel irony could wait.
-_-
When Liza decided to try the east hall light and saw Rex's leering face, she let out a scream and jabbed the button for the east door hard enough that she was sure for a minute that she had broken her finger.
She sat there panting for a minute. Tio Rafael was right, I need to cut down on la cafeína. She glanced at the tablet to see the battery had dropped from 96 to 85- crap, she still had the door down. Liza peered through the door’s window. The lack of Rex meant she could probably open the door.
She glanced through the cameras to see the trio's guitarist, Kitty-Cat, was gone. The camera in the kitchen lacked a picture, but it did have audio. She could hear the crash of pots and pans. When she glanced at the Parts and Services room, Rex was glaring at the camera.
"Buen perro. Quédate ahí."
She stopped at Treasure Cavern's camera, noticing that the curtain was twitching. Eventually, it moved to reveal Captain Bun. Liza raised a brow at the bunny's position. The animatronic looked tense like it was preparing to-
No.
"No, no, no," Liza hissed, trying to figure out which hallway. Her tablet choked for death. "No te atrevas!"
Bun took off. The woman froze, realizing she could hear the bunny coming. She sprang for the remote, slamming the west door button. It slammed down right when Bun was at the doorway. Liza let out a sigh of relief, glancing at her watch. It was 2. Huh, time ran fast when you were fighting for your life-
Bang.
BANG!
BANGBANGBANGBANGBANG-
It sounded like Bun was trying to break down the door. Liza took a chance and checked the east light. She was forced to push the east door button when she saw Kitty. It felt like an eternity before the banging stopped and she heard Bun run away. It took a little longer before she heard Kitty limp away.
74%.
This tablet was a traitor, she decided. A horrible traitor. Un horrible, horrible pedazo de mierda bastardo. She was calling Tio Rafael after her shift to demand what he and Tio Vincent were thinking when they were making these things. Then she was quitting.
The hours slipped away as she fended off Rex, Kitty, and Bun. Strangely, Ted himself hadn't come by yet, even though he was clearly off-stage. As the hours passed, it seemed like they were getting discouraged. It was 5:50 AM when the pedazo de mierda that called itself a tablet was at 5%. She whimpered as it fell to 4, 3, 2...
It was exactly 5:59 when it hit 0.
The doors slid up. The lights died. The horrible, horrible pedazo de mierda bastardo went dark. Liza sat frozen in the dark, dead silence. She covered her mouth when she heard heavy footsteps, trying to stifle her breathing. A music box was playing- sickeningly, she recognized the tune. It was a lullaby that her family sang to each other. She resisted a hysterical giggle.
Voy a morir a manos de la creación de mis tíos, escuchando a mi canción de cuna familiar.
Before she could think of some type of escape plan, the footsteps stopped at the door. She looked up to meet Ted Bear's brown eyes. She could recognize Tío Vincent's eyes in the brown glass orbs. This time, she didn't resist the hysterical giggle.
A hand reached for her...
The lights flipped on. Liza let out a squawk, closing her eyes. When she peeled them open, Ted had stepped back. Was it just her or did he look frustrated? She didn't have time to take in his expression, because he turned and walked away. She grabbed the tablet and let out a cheer when it came to life. She watched through the cameras as the animatronics returned to the stage.
It took a good ten minutes before Liza could manage her way out. She was forced to pass through the dining hall, stopping to consider the bots on-stage.
There, they looked perfectly innocent. Nope, nothing weird here at all, no siree.
They could buy steel bombproof doors, but not a technician to reprogram these things?
Tomorrow, she was going to call Mr. Calworth and try and quit. She shot out of the restaurant with that thought, heading to her car. She tried to start it. One look at the dash and the arrow pointing to the E and Liza let her head thunk against the wheel.
One more day couldn't hurt. She could try and call the recording guy back.
One more day, and then she'll quit.

Thank you “K” and “I” for the coffee. Maybe I’ll get a coffee and a croissant ;) I hope one day we can actually sit down and have coffee together. Maybe we can go to Seb con and laugh at SSI/KK antics.
-----
Ugh. I’m in the holiday mood. I want to buy gifts for everyone and I am so damn angry my car broke down. I just got it back $300 later. And now apparently the power steering is acting up and the computer needs to be reprogrammed because of the whole alternator/battery incident. Told my mom I was going to drive it off a cliff and she treated me to dinner XD I’m dramatic. As far as my thumb goes. It still hurts but now I keep laughing when I look at it because there is literally a chunk of skin missing so it looks weird.
I was thinking back and 2018 wasn’t a horrible year. I’m in remission from a condition I was living with since 2015(ish). My tumor turned out to be too small to mean anything and benign. I worked. I traveled. I met some amazing people. I think every year we sit down and go “man, this year sucked” but this year didn’t so I expect this to be the week from hell. If I survive this week, I’ll be good.
1. Alternator broke down. 2. Battery/Computer problems because of 1. 3. Power steering acting up. 4. Heard someone call my name outside my door, no one was there. My dog creepily stared out the window. 45. Cut off a piece of my thumb.
I’m ready for anything.
But really, I don’t care. My pets are healthy, I’m healthy minus the thumb and you all have sent some really nice messages and coffee and that’s all I really need.

Philosophy Midterm
1. Your name: Myles Allen
2. How much of the required reading have you done?
I have only read one book.
3. How many of the required films did you watch?
All of them.
4. Please copy and paste the essays you were required to write for the first 8 weeks of this course.
WEEK 1
1. How would you feel if you realized that you were just “stuff”, just this body, and that there was nothing “meta” physical about you? Be sure to use your “I” voice and present your reaction in an autobiographical framework. Also make pertinent references (when possible) to the film on mysterium tremendum.
If I were to find out that I’m nothing more than a physical body, I feel like it would limit my perspective and stunt my evolution. Since I’ve been able to spend time studying Eastern philosophy and the science of meditation, I do not believe that I am just a cluster of cells with a mechanical thought process. I believe in the multidimensional theory mentioned in the film, the fact that beyond the atomic reality of human existence, there is a realm of spirit and energy that has direct influence over our “physical” reality.
2. Using your own life as a template, provide two or more examples of Plato’s Allegory of the cave. Hint: think of those times in your life when you mistakenly believed something to be true or real but you later realized wasn’t. Be sure to think within the context of the movie.
Plato’s allegory of the cave can be applied to many aspects of Western civilization. One good example is how I was educated as a child in the American school system. I spent years learning a European perspective on civilization and its origins only to find out that  the large part of global history was sacrificed for the advancement of Western civilization. Finding out as an African male in America that the stories of my ancestors existing as nothing more than savages and slaves were false was not only infuriating, but also educational. It helped me to understand the need for a deeper understanding of myself, not just for my own personal development but also for the development of my current family and future generations to come. Another example of Plato’s allegory of the cave could be represented through the silent battle that many people fight with mental illness. Through my own personal journey of facing my fears and other mental blockages that were preventing me from advancing in consciousness, I was able to learn that thoughts and emotions can become entities that dictate your physical reality and it is important to be the master of your own mind.
WEEK 2
1. If you had to live your life over and over again (as given in Nietzsche's myth of eternal recurrence), describe precisely those things that you would change and why?
If I had to live my life the way Nietzsche described in his myth of eternal recurrence, the only thing I would change is the way I nurture and develop some of my personal relationships. Outside of that particular aspect of my life, I feel like I’ve developed a perspective that leaves me with endless tools and opportunities for self-transformation. Another thing I would change is the age I started to read and broaden the horizons of what I perceived to be possible, it is an activity that has definitely been a saving grace for me during these times we’re facing collectively.
2. Thinking about your own life (and connecting to the movie, the limits of science), what are the biggest obstacles that you confront in your educational career? More precisely, what limitations do you have that you feel limit your understanding of varying subjects and ideas?
The biggest obstacle I have been facing in my educational career is my own attitude. Of course, as a young child, play and exploration were always at the core of my identity. However, I never wanted to go to school just to sit down and have a full day of mandatory learning.  I was limited by my own perception of reality and the negative emotions that started to develop throughout the years. As I’ve been on a personal mission to reprogram my mind for some years now, I’ve been lucky enough to realize that all obstacles can be reexamined and overcome, even the more stern human concepts like death and disease.
3. Since the advent of hyper technology, what devices have you become most attached or addicted to? Why? Which ones are your friends most attached to? What are the pros and cons of such devices (connecting, of course, to the movie, "Surfing the User Interface".
The device I’ve become most attached to is definitely my phone because it is the most convenient and has the most accessories. I still use the television to enjoy movies and play video games, but when I’m on the go my phone can make me feel like Inspector Gadget. My friends are either all the same way or a combination of multiple gadgets they enjoy using. There are a lot of positive aspects to these gadgets, I’ve definitely experienced more pros than cons when it comes to technology. The fact that technology works so well on such a consistent basis is the only potential con it possesses. Since it works so well, it’s easy to use all day and can clearly become a huge distraction if you feel like you don’t have anything to do.
WEEK 3
1. How does the conception of a multiverse (where we find ourselves living in an almost infinite realm that cannot be defined) make you feel? Knowing that you are made up of atoms and material stuff, how does it change the conception you have of yourself?
The conception of living in a multiverse makes me feel infinite as a part of nature. If the understanding that the human body is a universe in itself is true, then the conception of a multiverse must infer that we are also multiple universes as well. This gives me the idea that we all have limitless potential and always have a positive future to look forward to. Knowing that I’m made up of different elements from the universe helps me to realize I can take a more scientific approach toward cultivating my mindset and what I am as a person. It gives me the opportunity to realizes that I am technically a giant ball of potentially destructive energy that can be used positively with the proper perspective.
2. Quantum Mechanics is based on probability. How does a deep understanding of chance alter your philosophy on life?
A deep understanding of chance puts you in a position to play the odds in your favor. If you were to know that you could have multiple constructive options to prepare for a potentially destructive force, it would be wise to work towards the best outcome possible. I’m sure there are people out in the world who feel like they have the worst luck anyone could have simply because they allowed the odds to be stacked against them. Knowing that there is always a chance that anything could happen serves as motivation to prepare for something to happen.
3. Relating to "Feynman's Flower" how does science broaden your appreciation of life and beauty? Give examples of your own life where you found something out from science that made you appreciate an ordinary thing or object much more?
Science helps life and beauty become more real. It brings more depth to life than is available if you decide to commit to a strictly three dimensional point of view. From my experience, what you see is not always what you get, but it is usually a byproduct of what is. Science is a window that lets us see beyond the mundane into what is truly infinite and all around us. I understand the nostalgia aspect of wanting to appreciate the essence of life and our surroundings, but if you’re truly given the opportunity to understand things at a deeper level, then it is a calling that should not be ignored.
WEEK 4
1. Why do you think a large number of people resist the theory of evolution by natural selection? What is it about Darwin's theory that makes you feel comfortable or uncomfortable? Be sure to elaborate on your reaction (pro or con).
I think people resist the theory of evolution by natural selection because it implies that some forms of life are more valuable than others based on their ability to adapt to certain conditions inside of the planet’s atmosphere. Certain schools of thought teach that each living thing has a soul and purpose for being in this life, despite the level of consciousness they may be presently operating at. To agree with natural selection implies that humans are at the top of the food chain until we face an adversary that exploits our current shortcomings. Many people would disagree with this perspective due to the fact that despite being the most organized and sophisticated, we are still part of the ecosystem, which is in a constant state of motion. The main problem I have with this theory is the mindset that we can potentially develop from absorbing this kind of ideology. Historically, humans are always the main ones engaging in organized genocide and massacring entire populations over belief systems that allow one group to gain leverage over others by charging up their people with doctrines of superiority.
2. What do you think cannot be explained by evolution?
I believe evolution explains everything through a developmental process and is a good model to use for describing the sequence of steps that were required for any aspect of life to reach its current state.
3. Provide three examples of eliminative materialism and how it works. You can draw from your own life.
A good example of eliminative materialism is the way the ancient inhabitants of this planet were able to utilize certain sciences to transform their way of living and create bountiful civilizations. Through further exploring themselves and the universe around them, they were able to visualize and create the reality that they wanted. Considering the fact that we are in an age of information,  the science that was used to transform ancient civilization is widely available to everyone through multiple mediums. I’ve been able to spend hours watching lectures and reading from a variety of books that have expanded my consciousness tremendously, and firmly believe that the right information could do more than enough for everyone if distributed correctly. Another good example of eliminative materialism is the way that philosophy provides a venue for people to build on their ideas and recreate their mindsets to better prepare for the future.
WEEK 5
1. Explain the "virtual simulator" hypothesis to consciousness. How does such a concept help explain why you behave the way you do? Be sure to draw from your day to day habits and how your mind projects into the future and reflects about the past.
The “virtual simulator” hypothesis implies that consciousness is a continuously expansive experience that cannot be quantified or explained. This explains why a lot of people have a hard time putting their reality into the proper context. Every day I wake up, I’m confronted with a world full of fears and potentially negative scenarios that I have to find a way to meet with the proper mindset before they arrive. Understanding that there is always the potential for infinite scenarios to unfold at any time is definitely an inspiration to stay in the moment and have patience.
2. How does M.E. theory apply to your own belief system?
I believe that it helps to believe in something. It’s hard to go through life in this world we live in without some sort of belief system that connects me with something higher than what is usually before my eyes. Thinking about string theory and the endless realms of vibration that could potentially be inhabited helps me think of how I could rise to higher levels of consciousness. I do believe in higher beings that can manipulate our physical reality and the influence of certain outcomes, this is also part of the reason I strive to evolve at every opportunity I can.
3. Where do you find purpose in your own life? How does it relate to the "evolutionary" imperative?
I find purpose in my life in the idea of love and what it means. It relates to the evolutionary imperative because in this world I’ve been confronted with plenty of scenarios that have left me wondering why things are the way they are and why they seem so unchangeable. The concept of love as a full device provides me with a ground floor to accept my surroundings for what they are and how to build accordingly. I also find purpose in my sense of community because without other people, I wouldn’t have any sense of the need to do anything.  I think the people I’m around are a constant reminder to stay motivated and help me to reevaluate my belief system.
WEEK 7
1. Are you more attracted to soul theory or neural theory?
I’m more attracted to soul theory than neural theory because I like the idea of having a soul more than I like having a brain. The neuroscience helps me to understand the mechanics of my brain and how it is wired, but I still see myself as the pilot of the ship. The idea of the soul seems infinitely more expansive compared to the brain, although, I do believe that they mirror each other.
2. Do you think artificial intelligence will transform how humans view themselves?
I do believe artificial intelligence will expand the way humans view their own minds. If the computer program is a simulated reflection of what our own minds are capable of without the biological bias that many humans carry around, then it could be a huge tool in the evolution of mankind. A highly developed AI program could gather the amount of information it would take thousands of people to do in a fraction of the time and upload it to a server that could be accessed anywhere within the reach of a wireless receiver. A lot of people in this age have developed a very personal relationship with technology and already use it to aid them in their daily lives.
3. What future technological device will change human behavior in the future?
The introduction of a true artificial intelligence program will change human behavior in the future. The idea of conscious mechanical devices walking around in the street or taking care of family members and advanced social programs will cause people to have to reevaluate the way that they have perceived their relationship with their communities. Seeing the way a conscious being could operate without the failures of the default human programming we’ve grown accustomed to should automatically open up a window to what is possible for humanity. Also, a computer that is linked to one conscious membrane that has the ability to design its own software would be able to give a wider range of information to an enormous range of people, and could even do more amazing things that we could only imagine.
WEEK 8
1. What the strongest arguments for vegetarianism?
The strongest arguments for vegetarianism are the health benefits and the idea of how civilization as we know it could be transformed through the cultivation of a more useful mindset. Through watching the type of foods we grow and the way we develop our society we could change the way future generations develop even further down the line. Creating healthier cycles of people could bring forth generations of youth that are capable of putting reality into a whole new perspective. Also, considering the fact that our bodies are a part of the universe, it is probably beneficial to choose from an assortment of different cellular structures that can communicate with the molecular structure of the human body.
2. What are the strongest arguments against vegetarianism?
Some arguments against vegetarianism could be that we are not capable of gathering enough resources to sustain ourselves, or that we can get the nutrients that we need from the meat of an animal, especially if the animal is healthy. People also have certain customs and traditions that promote the consumption of animals. I have also heard that people don’t feel healthy unless they eat animal products, even though I believe that this is mainly a matter of personal belief.
3. Which diet do you believe is the most ethical?
I believe the vegetarian diet to be the most ethical because it provides us with the widest variety of everything that we could possibly need to survive. It also could help give us more motivation as far as cultivating the earth is concerned. The idea of full factories built just to slaughter animals and large pastures designed to grow food to feed it to animals for slaughter is not only inhumane but unethical as well. I personally haven’t displayed the amount of discipline required to be a vegetarian as of yet, but I do believe it is something I’m growing into as I continue to evolve.
5. Describe Socrates’ method for understanding another person’s truth claims. Why was it so effective and why did it get him into so much trouble?
Socrates’ method for understanding another person’s truth claims is a process of stripping down someone’s belief system until they have to surrender to a more unanimous interpretation of themselves and reality. It was so effective because it is a process that brings an internal focus to the issues at hand, forcing the person or persons who is protecting their belief system to peel back the layers of their viewpoint until the naked truth has been exposed. It got him in trouble because through this process he was able to arm spectators with the ability to dissect their own situations in a similar manner, leading him to be persecuted by the state for his disruptive behavior.
6. Why is the conflict between science and religion (according to the required reading) a linguistic conundrum? Be sure to back up your answer with pertinent details from the readings/films.
The conflict between science and religion is a linguistic conundrum because science reaches to explain what religion doesn’t have the mechanism teach. Historically, science has been persecuted by the church because it has the ability to transcend the organization. Religions are designed to create order and the idea of science could be a chaotic factor. In the video “the limits of science” many examples are provided that describe scenarios where science could only go so far. Considering the fact that science is constantly evolving explains why religion may have a hard time adapting at the same capacity that science does.
7. Who do you think won the Einstein-Bohr debate? Back up your answer. You are free to do further research on this topic as well.
I believe Einstein won the debate because the lack of ability to determine the position of an object doesn’t rule out it’s existence. Bohr’s theory claims that wavelengths need to be observed in order to become objects. Einstein states that the quantum mechanical description of physical reality is not complete because there are more variables that will cause the theory to be rearranged as science continues to evolve. He also believes that a complete theory for physical reality is attainable and that one of the primary purposes of science is to determine specific attributes of nature.
8. Why is understanding physics elemental in doing philosophy well?
Physics explain the mechanics of the playing field, which are the grounds for philosophy to begin.
9. What is string theory? How can such radical ideas potentially alter our own philosophical outlooks on life in general?
String theory is the idea that objects exist beyond the second and third dimensional scale of the universe. This theory can alter our perception by giving us the knowledge that our potential is limitless if we can see beyond the confines of matter.
10. Why is the theory of evolution considered to be the cornerstone of modern biology? How does a deep understanding of natural selection help in understanding human behavior?
The theory of evolution is considered a cornerstone in modern biology because it describes the building blocks of life and the variations that arise in different scenarios. Understanding natural selection helps us understand the mindset and tendencies people and their communities develop when faced with certain situations.
11. What is the evolutionary reason behind why we ask why?
Asking  “why” is a tool that is useful in the development of the mind. It gives people an opportunity to observe certain mysteries from multiple dimension and gather knowledge accordingly. When we ask “why”, the observer has to open their mind to potentially unknown possibilities in order to further cultivate their understanding of reality. It is a necessary tool that gives us a safe way to analyze our internal and external conditions.
12. How does Plato’s allegory of the cave relate to our current understanding of science?
Science has  broken down so many barriers that were not common knowledge at this point, and it continues to reveal that there are more layers of information that will be deciphered as time goes on.
13. What is Nietzsche’s myth of eternal recurrence? How could such a concept alter one’s life here and now?
Nietzsche's myth of eternal recurrence describes the idea of having to live the exact same lifetime eternally. This concept could give people the opportunity to evaluate how they interpret free will. If I knew I had to live the same lifetime eternally, the level of strategy I engage in would increase exponentially.
14. How does the virtual simulation theory of consciousness help explain why humans have such a capacity?
It helps us understand why we have linguistic boundaries based on our own perception of reality and how it affects us collectively.
15. What did Darwin and Wallace agree and disagree on when it came to evolution by natural selection? Be sure to elaborate.
Darwin and Wallace both agreed that man evolved from a lower life form. However, Wallace believed that our consciousness was too advanced to leave the description of our evolutionary process up to natural selection. Even though certain aspects of our development can be attributed to the evolution of simpler life forms, there is still the question of how we became capable of contemplative awareness. Darwin believed that the evolution of matter was a sufficient template to measure how we arrived at where we are today, while Wallace sought out an alternative theory which could explain how humans are capable of achieving such a heightened sense of a self perceived reality.
16. What is the “evolutionary” imperative? How does it work?
The evolutionary imperative is the idea that life as we know it is not how it is supposed to be, and the reality that it is up to each individual to decide whether or not to do anything about it. It states that we can give up on life due to the abnormality of our situation or find some way prepare for the future.
17. Explain the quantum mechanical basis behind photosynthesis.
The leaf captures photons, when they hit the chlorophyll they bounce into another area where they are transferred through a cluster of pathways, and into a reaction center. The electron then creates energy that can be stored to use by the plant.
18. How can probability help explain “why bad things happen to good people?”
It can help explain by pointing out the fact that one good person may not be able to overcome the odds of all the potential negative scenarios they face. Statistics would probably state that a strong sense of morality may not always equate to a more favorable future.
19. Of the films you have watched so far, which one is your favorite? Why?
My favorite film so far is “Consciousness As A Mobius Strip” because I have struggled with this concept for a while now. I believe there are many aspects of life that cannot be relayed to others in a strictly linguistic form.
20. Of the required readings so far, which one is your favorite? Why?
So far the only book I’ve completed out of the required reading is “Just Odds”. I do find the concept interesting because I believe and have experienced the way certain things can play out based on belief.

Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5 - Part 6 - Part 7 - Part 8 - Part 9 -  Part 10 - Part 11 - Part 12 - Part 13 - Part 14 -
Tumblr media
Feeling the hot water run down my body is amazing. I'm still sore in every single muscle in my body, even though it's been a few days since the training fight in the gym, where Jones decided to go rogue and attack me for real. Aiden had to be hospitalized, the hit Jones gave him was far too hard, and the doctors fear severe damage. I've been denied access to come visit him and no one can give me any information. I truly fear for my friend's health, and I can do nothing but wait to see what happens.
I turn off the water and grab the towel to dry my body. As I wrap it around my hair and stand up, I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I shudder as I see a long red scar on my lower abdomen and trace my fingers lightly over it. I remember the day I got it. My memories were starting to come back, and I was slowly trying to come up with a plan on how to escape, 'trying' being the key word. Every fiber in my body wanted to fight against what HYDRA wanted me to do, but I had to pretend to still be their puppet.
"She's the best hacker in the country, and your mission is to make her find the information we need" Rumlow points to a woman behind the glass window. She looks scared, her eyes are red and puffy, she has clearly been crying. He face is dirty and her jacket is torn. she keep twisting her hands in her lap, staring at the door like she's waiting for someone to come in. "She hasn't been quite cooperative as you can see, we had to rough her up a bit" He looks at her through the glass as an evil grin spread on his lips. It takes all my strength not to break his neck right then and there, because I know what Rumlow means when he says' Rough her up a bit'. The two other agents in the room laugh as if he just told them a joke. "Apparently not enough if you need me to make her do what you want" I say, toneless like I don't give a shit, as a look at the woman in the cold interrogation room. "Well, that's because you're more suited for the job to come if she keeps refusing our orders" Brock looks at me, enjoying this way too much. "You see, we have her son now..." the door to the room opens and a kid, not more than 6 years old, runs in and into the woman's arms. I stare at them as I see her hug him tight, check him for injuries and then hug him tight again. "If she keeps refusing, your job is to kill him". "No!" the word leaves me way too fast by the thought of killing a child and Brock glare at me questioning.
Shit, I just showed way too much emotion for my own good right now. "I'm not doing your job, just because you don't have the balls to do it yourself!" I peel away my eyes from the mother and child and slowly turn to look at Brock. My eyes are hard, challenging and hateful. "I'm not your pet, just because you are a fucking pussy!" I add spiteful. "You will do as you are told, Soldat! Or life will be hell for you!" his eyes would kill right on the spot if it was possible. "It already is, you fucking looser" I mumbled under my breath turning back to look at the people in the other room. Brock's eyes never leaves me as he taps on the window and an agent come in to forcefully take the kid away again. He starts to cry, the woman starts to scream and all hell break loose in there. The last thing I see, is an agent storming towards the woman with a raised baton, then the window turn black from the flick on the switch that Brock hits. "You will do what you are told, or you will regret it, you stupid little piece of shit" he spits, as he slowly walks towards me. I don't step back like most people would do, but stand my ground, looking relaxed, bored even, but on the inside i'm so very ready to fight. "Or what? What will you do Rumlow?" I challenge, knowing very well that I can take him down easily. The agents behind me shift their full focus on me and take a step forward. His fist land on my jaw, but I did foresee that blow so I keep still only my head turned to the side by the hard strike. Slowly I turn my head back to look at him with a smirk, as I lick my lower lip and taste the iron in my blood. I spit out the mixture of saliva and blood and the thick mass land perfectly on his face. Quickly two sets of arms grab me from behind and try to hold me down. I use their hold on me to keep me up, as I raise both legs at the same time and kicks Brock hard in the chest. He slams into the wall behind him with such a force that he releases a mixed sound of a grunt and a wheeze, and parts of the wall crumble under him. "Hold her!" he screams to the agents and takes out his military knife. The anger I feel inside towards the man walking towards, me cannot be described with words and I struggle against the agents to get free. I head butt one of them, and get my arm free from his grasp. As I try to hit Rumlow's knife out of his hand, he instead swing it at me. The swing is low to avoid my reach. I feel the blade cut into my stomach left to right, leaving a long gash almost all the way across. The warm sticky blood starts to flow freely and I feel my clothes get soaked. The agent I head butted is back to his feet and grab me again as the door swings open with a loud crash and Pierce walks in. "ENOUGH!" the outburst rumbles in the tiny room "What the hell is going on?" I say nothing, just keeps staring at Rumlow, daring him to attack me again. He doesn't, but instead starts to ramble about me not obeying my orders. Pierce looks like he is ready to murder us all, as he dismiss Rumlow and walk over to me, his face mere inches from mine. "When you get orders you obey them, is that clear, Soldat? Or do you have a problem with that?" I can see in his eyes that he is questioning why I disobeyed Rumlow and I have to get a grip on myself, not to reveal what's going on inside of my head. I relax in the arms of the agents, straighten my back and take on the demeanor of the soldier that I am to them. "Yes sir!" I tell him, as a plan start to form in my head. "Good! Now take her to the infirmary and get her patched up, she has a fucking job to do" he commands the two agents. Pierce gives me a last look before he leaves the room again and the agents starts to walk me to get stitched up.
I pull up the sweatpants, as I take a last look at the scar before I put on a tight fitting t-shirt. God I should have killed Rumlow when I had the chance.
I walk back into my room far away in my thoughts, but I am jolted back to here and now, when I spot a person by the wall. He is standing with his back to me tall, muscular and long shaggy hair that falls forward as he stands there with Steve's drawing in his hands. Fuck... Fuck! What the hell is he doing with the picture? Why does he hold the drawing in his hands? Did he find it? "Bucky?!" my voice is small and a bit shaky. He doesn't move, doesn't even seem to register me at all. I walk over to him slowly and on guard,as I try again "Buck? What are you doing here?" He turns his head slightly towards me, but keeps his eyes on the picture in his hands. His voice is low and sad as he starts to talk. "We had it good back then, didn't we? Always happy and ready to make some trouble. Do you think it was faith that brought us together?" I step up to him and put my hand on his back. I feel him tense under my touch, but he doesn't move away, just keeps staring at the picture. "I don't know Buck? I would like to think that there's a reason, a greater good, to why we became inseparable back then" He doesn't seem to notice my answer. "I remember a lot from back then by now..." he continues "... But not all. I'm jealous of you because you can remember everything. It hurts that I can't" Now he looks at me, his eyes are so sad. There's no hate, no anger, no blame, just sadness and my heart drops. "I'm sorry" I whisper, I don't know what else to say. He looks back to the picture and let his thumb brush over his face on the paper. "I do remember our dreams... Do you? Can you remember the day Mrs. Rogers got buried and the three of us stayed at Steve's place afterwards?" I do remember and I give small hum to tell him that I do. "You wanted to travel the world Y/n. You wanted to make people happy. Steve wanted to be an artist maybe even an art teacher. And I... I just wanted to get married, have a bunch of kids and be a fucking dad..." he pauses for a bit "... And now look at us? Death, war, destruction! I wish we could go back... God, I really wanted to have a family and now I never will" His voice is shaking and his knuckles turning white from how hard he's holding the frame. My heart starts to beat a bit faster in fear of him breaking it. I give his shoulder a squeeze before I reach out for the drawing in his hands. "It's not too late Bucky, we have gotten a second chance in life, to do good and to pursue our dreams" He releases the grasp of the drawing and I quickly pull it out of his hands, into safety in mine. As I step forward to put it back up on the wall, my fingers search the back and I let out a relieved sigh when I feel the USB secure in its place. I turn to him and put my hand on his cheek, knowing that I might very well overstep his boundaries, but I need him to listen. "We are not death, war and destruction, we never were. Our hands was forced, our minds was broken and reprogrammed. If we had been ourselves when we did all of that shit for HYDRA, we wouldn't beat ourselves up for it now" Bucky, my strongest friend throughout life, has tears falling from his eyes as he listen. "We never chose to do those things, Bucky. Remember that! It may have been our bodies they used, but it wasn't us! You are a good man James Buchanan Barnes, and don't you ever let yourself or anyone else tell you differently!"
His eyes search mine, looking for the truth in my words. His breathing is shaky and the tears flow freely down his cheeks.
When he doesn't find anything else than truth, the sight before me will haunt me to the day I die.
It looks like he breaks on the inside, like every damn memory of pain and hurt well up in him, all at once. He wraps his arms around me before I even register that he is moving. He buries his face in my neck and sobs like a child.
All the emotions he has been hiding inside, is spilling out through tears and I just hold him. Hold him close and pour as much love and comfort as I can into the hug, trying to calm him down, to let him know that everything is and will be okay and to let him know that he is never, ever  going to be alone again.
"Good news y/n, your boyfriend is released from the hospital. He got lucky, no damage what so ever, the doctors call it a miracle!" Tony walks in to the common room where I'm sitting with some of the other guys watching a movie. "Didn't know he was your boyfriend y/n, do I need to have 'the talk' with him?" Clint mocks before he takes a sip of the beer he's holding in his hands. I roll my eyes at him, starting to feel like I do that at him, as much as I've done to Steve and Bucky throughout the years. Apparently, that's a sign of my affection towards my friends. "He's not my boyfriend, Dumbass!" I throw a pillow at him and almost hit his beer, making Clint chuckle. "But that's awesome news Tony! I'm so happy for him, he must be excited to go home" I feel a little stab in my heart as I say it, because I know that Aiden lives on the other side of the country, so that means I won't see him much anymore. "Actually, he's coming back here. He doesn't want to quit when you are so close to being done. So you'll see him in the next session" Tony says as he throws himself into one of the large chairs in front of the TV. "Are you serious? He almost died just last week, and now he's coming back?" I can't cover the shock in my voice "Is he insane?" the sorrow I felt about losing a friend to distance, is suddenly overwhelmed by worrying about his health. "Just sounds like he's going to be a good agent... Not staying away from the job for too long. Sounds like other people I know" Natasha adds with a smirk, and looks around to the men on the couch and in the chairs. "Hmm" is all I can say, my thoughts already long gone. A sudden feeling of guilt is creeping up my spine. If it wasn't because of me, Aiden would never have been put in that position, where he had to defend me from Jones. Jones wouldn't have attacked him like that and he wouldn't have ended up in the infirmary. "He's a strange dude, I don't like him" Bucky adds to the conversation but doesn't elaborate further.
"You don't like anyone and don't be jealous tin-arm, you can't keep Y/n to yourself, you have to share" Clint mocks as he throws the bottle cap at him. Bucky catch it without even looking up and fling it back at Clint hitting him perfectly in the head, making the archer whine "Hey man! Ouch!"
I look at Bucky and are just about to ask why, but F.R.I.D.A.Y interrupts "Mr. Stark, Captain Rogers you are needed in the conference room. Miss. Romanoff, Mr. Barton and Sergeant Barnes, you are all needed as well"
We all look at each other questioning. What is going on? It's not common for the entire Team to be called in like that, without at least one of them knowing what it is about. "Thank you F.R.I.D.A.Y, we are on our way" Tony says and stand up, the rest of them follow and make their way toward the elevator. "Sorry Quees Elsa. It looks like we need to leave you behind for a while" He adds apologetic.
"Don't worry about it T. Go save the world" I send him a smile and wave him away with the others.
As I see the elevator doors close behind them, I can't help but to wonder what it's all about, an eerie feeling creeping up my spine.

Goodnight, Darth Vader, Don’t Let the Wampas Bite Chapter 3
Ch. 0
Ch. 1
Ch. 2
Ch. 3 - Here
Ch. 4
Ch. 5
Ch. 6
Ch. 7
Ch. 8
Leia stuck her tongue out at Luke as he refused to pull himself away from the ship's window as asked.
"Luke, you are getting face prints on the window. I just had them cleaned."
"Why can't we live closer to the station?"
He almost said 'Bad memories of Tusken Raiders'. Almost. "Because it would not be a reward otherwise."
"Okay. Hey, Dad! Did you see that red astromech droid blow up? I got to take it apart and it had a bad motivator until I fixed it. That's why it blew up."
"Great, you should grow up to be an Imperial Mechanic then. You like fixing and breaking things."
"No way! I wanna be like Dad."
“You can’t, not unless you wanna live in a suit all the time like Dad does, and never eat real food again.”
“But I’d never need to poop!”
A siren cut Leia off from whatever she was about to say. The shrill noise cut short as Darth Vader answered the comms.
“What?” The small image of an Imperial bowing had to suffer the glare of two children and a Sith.
“My Lord, I apologize for disturbing your schedule, but we’ve received reports of rebel activity on the planet Tatooine, and you are the closest to the planet. The next closest is leaving Naboo as we speak.”
“Woah! Rebels on Tatooine! And we were just there!”
“Not right now, children. Go to your study rooms.”
Leia pouted. “No. I wanna hear this.”
“Please?”
He took a slow, deep breath before using the Force to push the children so they could not be seen by the Imperial. Using the connection at that moment, he focused on their minds and said one word without speaking.
Quietly.
He did not need to spend the trip in hyperspace fixing the door, or some other part of ship. Or worse, trying to fix the weapons systems. R2 was only one droid, even if he was the best astromech in the galaxy.
The kids grinned and pressed a finger to their mouths in a shushing manner.
“Give me everything you have on these rebels.”
“Yes, my lord. These rebels are coming from another Outer Rim world to make a deal with Jabba the Hutt. Intelligence suspects the deal involves weapons, or smuggling the rebels to a classified Imperial construction project.”
“Consider this mission classified from now on, Admiral. Beyond this point, nothing more will be told to you.” He ended the call. “Grab a seat and buckle in.”
“I call co-pilot!”
“What?! Dad! Luke always gets co-pilot!”
The young boy leaned into the window and breathed on it, drawing shapes as his sister pouted.
“I call co-pilot for infinity years.”
“You can’t do that!”
“Can too! For infinity plus one years”
“Cannot!”
“Watch!” He leaned into the window and opened his mouth as a precognitive vision appeared of the child licking-
“Eeeww! He licked the window."
Too late. Like the vision of his mother, the vision of Padme dying-- He took a very deep breath in and exhaled with a cough that echoed through his suit. His lungs burned as the cough triggered a fit. Damn Kenobi. At least this vision he failed to stop didn't involve death.
“Dad?”
“Are you okay? You sound like those recorded vids of General Grievous.”
He nodded as he reprogrammed the ship’s computer’s navigation. "I am fine now." He knew he was lying, and Luke's face suggested a lack of belief, but neither child voiced it.
"Don't lick the windows. Or the seats."
The twins smiled as they buckled into their seats.
Leia kicked at his seat's back. "Dad, will we be back in time to read the story tonight?"
He wasn't sure how to answer that.
"Dad?"
"We can stay up until you get back, too."
"Promise we'll be good."
He felt the ship change direction as he finally spoke. "If you go to bed on time, I will wake you up when I get back, so I can read some more of the book."
"Just this time, Dad, we can alter the deal for this time, but no more. When you get back we go back to the old deal."
"As you wish, my young children."
The ship was dark and quiet. A soft white and beep told him the droids had kept the kids on the ship as ordered. At least he didn't have to worry about rebels, rumors of crazy old men in the desert, sand people, or Hutts.
"Oh! Master Vader, young Master Luke and Princess Leia have just fallen asleep. They were coloring earlier this evening and left pictures on your door."
"They just fell asleep? They should have been asleep long before now."
"They were in bed, but their life signs said they were still awake. Maybe they were waiting for you? Oh, I do hope I haven't failed in some way."
"No, Threepio, you did fine. You and Artoo should go recharge and rest."
"Of course, thank you."
Vader paused at the door of the twins' room. Using the Force, he picked up the book from where they left it and opened it. He took his seat and ignited his weapon for a gentle light source.
"I have returned."
"Dad? Leia! Dad's back!"
"Tee aych ex..."
"Do you want to miss the next part of the story?"
She sat up with the speed that only a promise of sweet cakes had summoned from her before. "Dad!"
"Yes. And so, in the battle over Malachor Five, a Jedi General made a decision that would change the galaxy under the orders of Revan..."

Fasting Regenerates Your Pancreas
By Dr. Mercola
Fasting is a powerful tool nearly anyone can use to take control of their health. Animal research indicates a fasting-mimicking diet not only can help your pancreas regenerate itself, but it can also reverse diabetes symptoms. In another study, also involving lab mice, restricting daily calories to a six-hour window significantly reduced levels of a particular mutant protein known to play a role in Huntington's disease.
Given these results, as well as other research, the tremendous benefits of fasting continue to emerge. If you haven't yet considered how fasting can make a positive difference to your health, I encourage you to keep reading and also consider one of three methods: the fasting-mimicking diet, intermittent fasting or water-only fasting. Fasting is one of the best tools you can use in the fight against chronic disease.
Fasting-Mimicking Regenerates Pancreas, Eliminates Diabetes in Lab Mice
In a study published in the journal Cell,1 a group of U.S. researchers, most of whom were affiliated with the University of Southern California (USC), suggest your pancreas may be able to regenerate itself through a fasting-mimicking diet.
In animal experiments, the scientists, led by Valter Longo, Ph.D., professor of gerontology and biological sciences and director of the USC Longevity Institute, were able to restore pancreatic function using a modified version of the fasting-mimicking diet. This diet is characterized by periods of feast and famine.
Longo notes the diet promoted the "generation of insulin-producing beta cells, resembling that observed during pancreatic development."2 (Beta cells detect sugar in your blood and release insulin if blood sugar levels get too high.) Given its restorative effects on the pancreas, the fasting-mimicking diet also reversed diabetes symptoms in lab mice.
Said Longo, "Our conclusion is by pushing the mice into an extreme state and then bringing them back — by starving them and then feeding them again —the cells in the pancreas are triggered to use some kind of developmental reprogramming that rebuilds the part of the organ that's no longer functioning."3 The experiments reflected noticeable benefits for mice with diabetes: Fasting-mimicking diet cycles restored insulin secretion and glucose homeostasis in both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes mouse models. Longo stated:4
"Medically, these findings have the potential to be very important because we've shown — at least in mouse models — that you can use diet to reverse the symptoms of diabetes. Scientifically, the findings are perhaps even more important because we've shown you can use diet to reprogram cells without having to make any genetic alterations."
How Does the Fasting-Mimicking Approach Work?
youtube
Unlike traditional fasting centered on abstinence from all food for a period of time, a fasting-mimicking diet allows you to consume a greatly reduced number of calories, usually for a five-day period, in a way that allows you to realize some of the same therapeutic benefits of traditional foodless fasting.
Longo's fasting-mimicking diet involves restricting your calories to 800 to 1,100 calories per day for five days each month. This approach greatly improves compliance, as many would find a five-day water-only fast to be too difficult. The low-calorie strategy provides many benefits while also reducing your likelihood of suffering adverse side effects.
The five days of calorie restriction come in the form of choosing foods low in carbohydrates, low in protein and high in healthy fats. The rest of the month, you are free to eat whatever you want. The goal is to mimic periods of feast and famine. While all of this sounds simple, Longo is quick to suggest the diet is best undertaken with medical guidance. "It boils down to: Do not try this at home." Longo says, "This [diet] is so much more sophisticated than people realize."5
Calorie Restriction Also Shows Promise for Huntington's Disease
New research by Canadian scientists, published in the journal Acta Neuropathologica Communications,6 indicates restricting food intake to a specific daily time period could benefit sufferers of Huntington's disease. More than 30,000 Americans are affected by this progressive neurological condition, which typically appears between the ages of 30 and 50.7
Symptoms of Huntington's include cognitive impairment, involuntary movements (chorea) and mobility problems. Most conventional approaches involve taking drugs such as tetrabenazine to manage symptoms like chorea. Using lab mice, the researchers found that limiting calorie intake to the same daily six-hour period improved mouse models of Huntington's disease.8
Specifically, this strict eating schedule, which involved fasting for the remaining 18 hours a day, resulted in significant reductions in the levels of a particular mutant protein that plays a role in Huntington's disease. The disease is caused by an inherited mutation in the huntingtin (HTT) gene known to pass from parent to child. The mutant form of HTT is referred to as mHTT; it is thought to work with other bodily proteins to accelerate progression of the disease.
The study revealed food restriction triggered a process in the mice called autophagy — a cell self-cleaning process known to remove damaged or unnecessary components. Researchers noticed fasting-induced autophagy reduced levels of mHTT in the rodents' brains.9 About the research, lead study author Dagmar Ehrnhoefer, Ph.D., principal investigator at BioMed X Innovation Center in Heidelberg, Germany, stated:10
"We know specific aspects of autophagy don't work properly in patients with Huntington's disease. Our findings suggest, at least in mice, when you fast, or eat at certain very regulated times without snacking in between meals, your body starts to increase an alternative, still functional, autophagy mechanism, which could help lower levels of the mutant huntingtin protein in the brain."
Study coauthor Dale Martin, Ph.D., assistant professor, department of biology, Waterloo University, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, said, "More studies are needed, but perhaps something as simple as a modified dietary schedule could provide some benefit for [Huntington's disease] patients and could be complementary to some treatments currently in clinical trials."11
Multiday Water Fasting Is Another Great Metabolic Intervention
After some initial hesitations, I am now embracing multiday water fasting as one of the best metabolic interventions available. I say that because this type of fasting switches your cells to a protected "antiaging mode." It also promotes autophagy, the cell self-cleaning process mentioned earlier, thanks to the activation of stem cells.
I have completed several five-day water-only fasts in recent months and highly recommend this as a regular practice. Assuming you are properly prepared, if you are dealing with insulin resistance, I believe you could benefit from monthly water-only fasts. Provided you're not anorexic, old and frail, pregnant or dealing with a serious health issue, fasting for three to seven days will likely be beneficial; a short fast certainly won't kill you, nor will it cause significant muscle loss. With respect to water-only fasts, ABC Science states:12
"After two or three days of fasting, you get your energy from two different sources simultaneously. A very small part of your energy comes from breaking down your muscles — but you can avoid this by doing some resistance training … The majority of your energy comes from breaking down fat.
But very soon, you move into getting all your energy from the breakdown of fat. The fat molecules break down into two separate chemicals — glycerol (which can be converted into glucose) and free fatty acids (which can be converted into other chemicals called ketones). Your body, including your brain, can run on this glucose and ketones until you finally run out of fat.
In humans, fasting seems to have health benefits for high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma and epilepsy in children. In animals, fasting seems to reduce the cognitive decline that happens in conditions such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease."
You may find that starting with intermittent fasting first can prepare your body (and your mind) for a water-only fast. Simply by lengthening the number of hours you go without food can condition your body for completely foodless days. My habit of intermittently fasting 20 hours a day definitely made water-only fasting easier for me. Even if you intermittently fast short of 20 hours, you will be helping your body begin using fat for fuel.
I recommend you take a high-quality multimineral supplement any time you do a water-only fast, and you should continue taking your regular nutritional supplements, too. If you supplement with magnesium, be aware it may cause severely loose stools during foodless fasts. You also need to consume high-quality salt.
Health Benefits of a Fasting-Mimicking Style of Eating
In his book "The Longevity Diet: Discover the New Science Behind Stem Cell Activation and Regeneration to Slow Aging, Fight Disease and Optimize Weight," Longo suggests the fasting-mimicking protocol supports your overall health and well-being because it helps you maintain healthy levels of:
C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation
Fasting glucose
Insulin-like growth factor 1, a marker associated with increased mortality and DNA damage
Stem cells and regenerative markers
Beyond that, according to Longo, the fasting-mimicking diet both protects and rejuvenates your body by going after multiple body systems and causing regeneration and improved performance in those systems. Among the health benefits, Longo says the fasting-mimicking diet:
Reduces cancers by nearly 50 percent
Delays cancer onset and results in more benign tumors than malignant ones
Improves your cognition and markers for aging
Strengthens your immune system, which is transformed to a more youthful state
Lowers risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes
Fasting-Mimicking Boosts the Effectiveness of Treatment for Malignant Disease
Given his years of research and experience, Longo strongly recommends actively incorporating the fasting-mimicking diet with cancer treatment. Not only will it radically improve the effectiveness of your cancer therapy, he says, but it will also decrease some of the unpleasant side effects. Longo states:
"This has been a difficult battle. We work with the top oncology hospitals in the world: MD Anderson, Mayo Clinic [and] USC Norris Cancer Center … we really didn't want to be the rebels …  We fought very hard, but also, we wanted them to agree with us. We wanted the oncologists to basically say, 'Yes. This [diet] is a good way to do it.'
The safety concerns … are really minimal and the potential benefits are very high … In mice, we consistently see cancer-free survival even in the metastatic models."
Longo believes fasting-mimicking diets are particularly beneficial in cases of more advanced cancers that have metastasized, leaving the patient with very few options. In those instances, he has encouraged oncologists to seriously consider integrating the fasting-mimicking diet with standard cancer care. To date, Longo and his team have demonstrated the effectiveness of the fasting-mimicking diet for kinase inhibitors, chemotherapy and all kinds of cancers.
He says hundreds of clinical trials are underway that involve the fasting-mimicking diet, and new data comes in regularly about new therapies. One of the new therapies, Longo suggests, is immunotherapy. It makes cancer visible to your immune system so it can be attacked by your immune system.
Whatever your situation with respect to cancer treatment, Longo recommends you bring the fasting-mimicking diet to the attention of your oncologist. For starters, you might suggest he or she "at least … read the clinical trials that are already published," said Longo. He adds, "I think it's important to talk to [cancer] patients about this [diet], and give them an opportunity, particularly where they don't have any other viable options."
Important Cautions About Fasting
Certain health conditions require more stringent medical supervision to ensure the safety of fasting. Regardless of your health, be sure to talk to your doctor before undertaking any fasting program. If you have a chronic disease, your doctor will need to closely monitor your condition and any potential complications related to fasting. I advise you avoid, or at least cautiously evaluate, fasting if you are:
Anorexic or seriously underweight
Pregnant or breastfeeding
Fragile or in ill health
Taking medication, especially if it must be taken with food
Have liver or kidney disease
Taking an antihypertensive or hypoglycemic medication, due to the risk of overdosing
More than 70 years of age, unless you're exceptionally healthy
Cycling Is Vital for Success With the Fasting-Mimicking Protocol
If you are in good physical health, you may be able to realize benefits from adopting a fasting-mimicking diet for five days every 90 days. However, if you are facing health challenges such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or obesity, you may have more success by cycling on and off the diet monthly, at least until you see improvement in your health.
Longo underscores the need for some form of cycling on and off the diet because the cycling is vitally important to your success. The episodic fasting and refeeding is one of the keys that unlocks the many benefits of this diet. Notably, cycling also helps circumvent the negative effects associated with continuous fasting or chronic underfeeding.
If the information presented in this article has stimulated your thinking about fasting, you may be ready to take your diet to the next level. The potential benefits of fasting make each type of intervention worth checking out, mainly because your body was designed to: 1) run on fat as its primary fuel and 2) cycle through periods of feast and famine. As a means of taking control of your health, I encourage you — under the guidance of your doctor — to seriously consider one or more of the following types of fasting:
Intermittent fasting
Water-only fasting
Fasting-mimicking diet
Since many who are interested in fasting also may be sensitive to lectins, you might want to read my article How Fasting and Minimizing Lectins Can Benefit Your Health.

If you haven't yet considered how fasting can make a positive difference to your health, I encourage you to keep reading and also consider one of three methods: the fasting-mimicking diet, intermittent fasting or water-only fasting. Fasting is one of the best tools you can use in the fight against chronic disease. Fasting-Mimicking Regenerates Pancreas, Eliminates Diabetes in Lab Mice In a study published in the journal Cell,1 a group of U.S. researchers, most of whom were affiliated with the University of Southern California (USC), suggest your pancreas may be able to regenerate itself through a fasting-mimicking diet. Longo stated:4 "Medically, these findings have the potential to be very important because we've shown — at least in mouse models — that you can use diet to reverse the symptoms of diabetes. Scientifically, the findings are perhaps even more important because we've shown you can use diet to reprogram cells without having to make any genetic alterations." How Does the Fasting-Mimicking Approach Work? "It boils down to: Do not try this at home." Longo says, "This [diet] is so much more sophisticated than people realize."5 Calorie Restriction Also Shows Promise for Huntington's Disease New research by Canadian scientists, published in the journal Acta Neuropathologica Communications,6 indicates restricting food intake to a specific daily time period could benefit sufferers of Huntington's disease. More than 30,000 Americans are affected by this progressive neurological condition, which typically appears between the ages of 30 and 50.7 Symptoms of Huntington's include cognitive impairment, involuntary movements (chorea) and mobility problems. Most conventional approaches involve taking drugs such as tetrabenazine to manage symptoms like chorea. Using lab mice, the researchers found that limiting calorie intake to the same daily six-hour period improved mouse models of Huntington's disease.8 Specifically, this strict eating schedule, which involved fasting for the remaining 18 hours a day, resulted in significant reductions in the levels of a particular mutant protein that plays a role in Huntington's disease. Researchers noticed fasting-induced autophagy reduced levels of mHTT in the rodents' brains.9 About the research, lead study author Dagmar Ehrnhoefer, Ph.D., principal investigator at BioMed X Innovation Center in Heidelberg, Germany, stated:10 "We know specific aspects of autophagy don't work properly in patients with Huntington's disease. Our findings suggest, at least in mice, when you fast, or eat at certain very regulated times without snacking in between meals, your body starts to increase an alternative, still functional, autophagy mechanism, which could help lower levels of the mutant huntingtin protein in the brain." Study coauthor Dale Martin, Ph.D., assistant professor, department of biology, Waterloo University, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, said, "More studies are needed, but perhaps something as simple as a modified dietary schedule could provide some benefit for [Huntington's disease] patients and could be complementary to some treatments currently in clinical trials."11 Multiday Water Fasting Is Another Great Metabolic Intervention After some initial hesitations, I am now embracing multiday water fasting as one of the best metabolic interventions available. With respect to water-only fasts, ABC Science states:12 "After two or three days of fasting, you get your energy from two different sources simultaneously. In animals, fasting seems to reduce the cognitive decline that happens in conditions such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease." You may find that starting with intermittent fasting first can prepare your body (and your mind) for a water-only fast. Health Benefits of a Fasting-Mimicking Style of Eating In his book "The Longevity Diet: Discover the New Science Behind Stem Cell Activation and Regeneration to Slow Aging, Fight Disease and Optimize Weight," Longo suggests the fasting-mimicking protocol supports your overall health and well-being because it helps you maintain healthy levels of: C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation Fasting glucose Insulin-like growth factor 1, a marker associated with increased mortality and DNA damage Stem cells and regenerative markers Beyond that, according to Longo, the fasting-mimicking diet both protects and rejuvenates your body by going after multiple body systems and causing regeneration and improved performance in those systems. Among the health benefits, Longo says the fasting-mimicking diet: Reduces cancers by nearly 50 percent Delays cancer onset and results in more benign tumors than malignant ones Improves your cognition and markers for aging Strengthens your immune system, which is transformed to a more youthful state Lowers risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes Fasting-Mimicking Boosts the Effectiveness of Treatment for Malignant Disease Given his years of research and experience, Longo strongly recommends actively incorporating the fasting-mimicking diet with cancer treatment. Not only will it radically improve the effectiveness of your cancer therapy, he says, but it will also decrease some of the unpleasant side effects. Longo states: "This has been a difficult battle. This [diet] is a good way to do it.' The safety concerns … are really minimal and the potential benefits are very high … In mice, we consistently see cancer-free survival even in the metastatic models." Longo believes fasting-mimicking diets are particularly beneficial in cases of more advanced cancers that have metastasized, leaving the patient with very few options. He adds, "I think it's important to talk to [cancer] patients about this [diet], and give them an opportunity, particularly where they don't have any other viable options." Important Cautions About Fasting Certain health conditions require more stringent medical supervision to ensure the safety of fasting. Regardless of your health, be sure to talk to your doctor before undertaking any fasting program. If you have a chronic disease, your doctor will need to closely monitor your condition and any potential complications related to fasting. I advise you avoid, or at least cautiously evaluate, fasting if you are: Anorexic or seriously underweight Pregnant or breastfeeding Fragile or in ill health Taking medication, especially if it must be taken with food Have liver or kidney disease Taking an antihypertensive or hypoglycemic medication, due to the risk of overdosing More than 70 years of age, unless you're exceptionally healthy Cycling Is Vital for Success With the Fasting-Mimicking Protocol If you are in good physical health, you may be able to realize benefits from adopting a fasting-mimicking diet for five days every 90 days. As a means of taking control of your health, I encourage you — under the guidance of your doctor — to seriously consider one or more of the following types of fasting: Intermittent fasting Water-only fasting Fasting-mimicking diet Since many who are interested in fasting also may be sensitive to lectins, you might want to read my article How Fasting and Minimizing Lectins Can Benefit Your Health.

/Rant/ Need help with dealing with General Motors via /r/cars
/Rant/ Need help with dealing with General Motors
Feel free to read my rant, I am beyond disappointed with GM, GMC and Chevy on all sorts of levels... Especially for my first truck purchase.
I leased this brand new 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 All-Terrain Edition at "GMC Dealership A" at the end of August 2016. Only issue that I experienced from the time of purchase till June 1st 2017 was the fact that I had to have the driver’s side lower seat cover replaced due to a clip malfunction. I also noticed two odd marks on my upper gauge cluster cover, and on the steering wheel that were left after this service. Pictures can be provided upon request of marks in question.
On June 31st 2017 I begin my Business Trip to Missouri. I will be at this location from June 1st till July 28th of this year. Upon arrival at Missouri, I stopped at the local GMC dealership, "GMC Dealership O", to have my oil changed. I had a very brief discussion with the service advisor about the oil change. He didn’t want to change the oil because the vehicle didn’t need it and to come back when the oil life meter reads 30%. My first experience with this dealer and the service department were poor.
On June 14th I return to the dealer, "GMC Dealership O", to get my oil changed because I was well over the 5000 miles and my dealer in Colorado that I bought the truck from recommended that I get my oil change every 5000 miles. Once again, I was told not to worry and that they weren’t going to do my oil change. Upon leaving the service advisor gave me a dirty look like I was retarded for even asking for an oil change. Once I arrived back to my hotel, I called "GMC Dealership Z", and asked for an oil change. They told me no problem, and to come down on Saturday June 15th for an oil change.
On June 15th"GMC Dealership Z" did the recommended services that were required on my truck. The service advisor was not surprised that I had such a poor experience at "GMC Dealership O" and stated that they get a lot of business from that area because of them. While I was waiting, one of the Salesmen stated to me that I didn’t have the correct tire on my vehicle and that I should look into the issue. I proceeded to look at the two 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 All-Terrain Edition that "GMC Dealership Z" had. Sure enough, the window sticker stated that the vehicle should have All Terrain tires, but they had the same tire and rim combination that my truck has. More on this later. The service advisor "GMC Dealership Z" told me that I should get in contact with Customer Service about my poor dealership experience as well as the tire issue. After that, I got my vehicle out of service and everything checked out with the vehicle and I headed back to Fort Leonard Wood.
On Saturday June 22nd while driving on post, I noticed that my brake warning on the DIC “Low Brake Fluid” came that some of the vehicle braking features were disabled. I pulled over and began looking for leaks and didn’t find any. Concerned, I called "Chevy Dealership A" in Missouri if I could bring the truck down. Once I arrived, they got my vehicle in and a mechanic found this: (See BRAKES 1, BRAKES 2, BRAKES 3 for images). The tech said this wasn’t an overnight issue and took some time to get to this point because there was rust on the frame rail. The service advisor told me that he would get the part ordered on June 24th and that it would arrive on June 25th assuming no shipping issues.
On June 25th I arrived at the dealership around 2:30 PM to see if the truck was finished with the repairs. I spoke with the tech that was working on my truck and stated that the frame had been sprayed with a new liner that would cover up the rust and prevent it from spreading.
Issue # 1: NO SANDING WAS PREFORMED ON THE FRAME RAIL TO REMOVE THE RUST THAT WAS PRESENT. THE RUST WAS JUST COVERED UP WITH A NEW BLACK SPRAY LINER.
I looked underneath the vehicle to find that the ABS Module, the part that was leaking, was removed and the spray painted area was drying. Once the paint was dry enough to work with, the new ABS module was installed and the brake lines were reinstalled per factor manual and torque specs. However, during the brake bleeding process, the brake lines begin to leak again from all over. The tech had to use all of his force to re tighten the lines to stop them from leaking. Since the brake lines leaked on the frame rail again. All the paint product that was used peeled off and had to be replied… Which looked like ass after it was done, because the ABS Module had to remain in place while the paint was reapplied.
Issue # 2: BRAKE LINES CONNECTING TO THE ABS MODULE WERE TORQUED DOWN EXCEEDINGLY FAR PAST FACTOR SPECS.
There is a reason why you don’t over torque things, and why there is a torque spec in a manual for this type of repair…. The Tech literally tightened all the lines down until brake fluid stopped leaking... Which was forceful enough to bend the ABS Module bracket...
Once everything was buttoned up the Tech tried to reprogram the new module to trucks internal computer. The module failed numerous times which ended up requiring a new ABS Module to be installed.
June 26th the 2nd ABS Module was ordered.
June 27th the truck was repaired and no further issues have been noticed.
Now I am paranoid about the brakes leaking because of Issue #2 and I keep a rag in the truck and check for brake wetness after driving the truck.
From June 14th till the 27th I called, or messaged GM Customer service to get some form assistance or help with my issues.
From June 22nd till the 29th I made a trip to the dealership to check on repair status and or to get help with getting GM to replace vehicle.
Issue # 4: SECOND DEALERSHIP MISSED THE LEAKING BRAKES AND POTENTIALLY LET ME DRIVE IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE.
Now on to the TIRES.
A tier 2 rep with GM customer service told me to get a hold of Goodyear Tires Co, which is odd because GM should be verifying this information, and asked me to get a statement from them to clarify the classification of the tire. See GOODYEAR.JPEG for email statement from them.
THE GOODYEAR WRANGLER SR-A TIRE IS NOT AN ALL TERRAIN TIRE WHAT SO EVER! IT’S AN ALL SEASON, PASSENGER TIRE!
GM Customer Service confirmed that my truck should of came with AT tires not All Season tires… Every GM/CHEVY truck that was listed to have AT tires, had a pair of the GOODYEAR WRANGLER SR-A TIRES.
Just because its apart of the WRANGLER SERIES TIRE, doesn’t mean it’s a AT tire. HOWEVER GM WONT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS BECAUSE IT GM HAS LABELED THIS TIRE AS "AT" WHICH IS WHAT COMES WITH THE TRUCK!
July 13 2017: Today was the final straw... So apparently GM Executive Customer Service really doesnt like customers or I am just unlucky... After all of this I walked away with a service voucher for $100 because of all of my troubles... Of course this is after GM denied my supplied resolutions, which were in part a little out there... (Replacing the truck and applying credit) However, if you dont ask you never know.
What really makes me mad is that I had to ask for the $100 Service Voucher and was not offered it because the rep thought it would insult me...
I am going to put this where I can to let others know what they are getting into. If I am crazy let me know.

Star Trek Voyager 3(C) The Tyrokans
The transition between becoming Borg and the Mind Being Numb, Controlled, and then turned back “on...”
Being “One with his own thoughts,” well, that was hell.
Months of flashbacks of being assimilated. The anger from the emptiness of becoming separated from the collective was all to hectic. Doctors sedating and then reprogramming my Nero-implants to bare the stresses of dealing with Human logic and Machines doing the thinking, for you, was bad enough.
The transition became much more rough due to the deep Chemical Bond forged between me and Darren tal.
The mind becomes sick from the loneliness. However, the bond of Ala' Vora made seizures, vomiting, and Total chemical chaos ,of the Human physiology, much worse.
I was like a child learning how to walk, talk, and learn However, the portion of me being made of computer technology made the learning portion of my dilemma as easy as uploading information.
The physical integration of Human walking, eating, emotions...This portion of my recovery was much more complicated.
The sun always looked like a tiny Christmas decoration as it's light shone through the thick transparent aluminum windows of Voyager 3.
In the Mess Hall, Victor Ganternoff, an ensign for security, had a love for cooking. He was quite the gifted chef. Outside the computer's replicator.
I always enjoyed his French toast. Now that my Human taste buds were able to taste, once more, I was looking forward to my Dinner/Breakfast.
“Hey Captain Bullock.    The Usual?:   Victor had this smile that seemed to allure all of the female staff aboard my star ship. He was so excited. After exiting the academy studying Security and Minoring in Engineering, I needed his versatility aboard this new and seemingly unbroken-in machine.
Compared to my Borg eye implants, and viable Borg flashing implants on my body, he put me to shame. Victor was a true ladies' man.
?I'm glad you made it aboard, uh, vic?” I smiled as my half-electronic sounding voice-box tried to sound out my emotion.
“You look very well, sir. A lot better than at the briefing of your rank being announced. Wow. What it must have been like. Being a machine...Then back to Human?”
“Betazed...I'm Half Betazed. I was bread from a father who was Betazed and a mother who was Human.   Back in my originating century, doctor's just simply thought I was of high Intelligence. Even then, telepathy was only an absurd notion in medical sciences. Little though being of alien descent.”
My vocal processor was unique. Working with the Cortical Implants that once belonged to the Queen of Borg, originally, I was literally a walking Karaoke Jukebox. I could disguise my voice to any voice I have heard.
I was the Royal Medic Drone, Security Detail For The Queen as she regenerated, and a walking transport and assimilation center drone.
I was as close to the queen as Seven of Nine. I had a direct link to her own Nero-net. Outside of the records I read from the ship's log concerning the drone “one” born on Voyager, I was the second most advanced computer-humanoid life form in starfleet.
My computer implants could store the entire ships computer contents within a few nano-seconds. I was a walking database, Defense system, and emergency medical staff all wrapped in one body.
It's still feeling like a few weeks ago when I was captured from the Pheonix iii, assimilated, and assigned to protect and repair any damage the queen had sustained.
I could blow a hole in the side of a star ship as big as a “galaxy class” as big as three decks tall and two and a half decks wide. I was deadly, but , perfect for the “Drix” project.
Darren was doing much better the last few months. Since her revival from life support and having to relearn six months of coma life, Darren Tal was almost better than she had been before.
She felt safer with the new me. Not freaked out. She never looked at me, well, like a “freak.”
She might be connected to me biologically, however, she still could have fainted, cried, ran, or who was in denial of who I truly was.
A lot of the Starfleet staff did have a similar reaction. Some hated me. Despite the fact that I was programmed to kill, assimilate, and defend one of the most infamous leaders of a bionic race that took every civilization as it's own possession.
They never knew her like I did. She truly believed that she was bettering the worlds around here.
She had a passionate smile and a unique personality. When I snapped out of the Hive Mind, even for parts of a brief hour, I noticed her honesty and passion.
I was truly in awe of a Queen of billions of drones from the connection that was only her brain. Amazing.
Victor whipped up four pieces toast, whipped cream, chocolate chips sprinkled with powdered sugar on top. Sausage patties and O.J. “Exquisite.”   I smiled as my ocular implant messaged out the ingredients and names of the foods I was to ingest.
“You know, Vic, I feel like an Old Wikipedia Terminal.:  Laughing..
“What is Wikipedia?” Victor asked in question of my last remark.
“It was an old 21st century Earth Encyclopedia Network run and operated by it's users.”
“Interesting...You really are hundreds of years old?! Wow, sir, you still look only 37 with the implants.” - My emotions sensor could detail his honesty with the compliment. Victor was one of my most honest and loyal crewman. Outside of the famous data. He was still as functional as when aboard the Enterprise F. Except, he too, was fitted with built in weapons and skin that appeared to be so real – he was the tin man who became a real man.
“Thanks, Vic. Be on the bridge in 4 hours. I want you at one of the helms. Along side data, my wife, and My Second in Command, Harry Kim.”
I patted Victor on the back as I slid past some engineer managers and through the Dining Room doors.
Star Trek Voyager 3 – A Sweet Start
Posted on March 27, 2016 by kevinmkappler
It has been 10 years since I was once a mindless Borg Drone in a Vast Expanse of the Collective. I still have trouble waking in a standing position. Alike a horse in his stall. My Alcove reminds me of a vampire’s coffin standing upright. Outside of the Coffin lid, I’m in one. Every time I open my eyes I have to see computerized readouts and sensor readings in my head. I see those irritating blinking green lights underneath my Human flesh and realize that I am no longer, nor will ever be, full Human. “Regeneration Cycle Complete. 8 Hours….24 Minutes Regeneration Hours Logged.” That darn Voyager 3 computer might as well announce when I defecate. I understand it’s the computer’s job to monitor my Borg and Human life-cycles in order for me to stay as healthy as I can for my crew. “Xander Talias Bullock to the Sick Bay, Please…” Dr. Davinchi , a holographic life form had just announced my need for my morning implant checkup as I was putting on my Star-fleet Mandated Captain’s Uniform…making sure to keep my look nothing under, “Perfectionist.” I had an example to set for the 150 crew members I command……. That I care for, like family. My captain’s quarters were fitted with an Alcove of my own. The bed next to my hideous machine was my wife’s, Darren Tals’. Above my desk was a picture of the late Captain Katherine Janeway. One of my Star-fleet Heroines. Her personality was sublime. Her diplomatic skills were above only my own. I was to be awarded the “Diplomatic Medal of excellence” at the Anniversary of the original Voyager’s return to Earth. Checking my left hands Borg computer display, “Laser Weapons on Standby…Systems at 100%... Ready for Input.” I still feel like a living Video Game Android when I have to tweak my implants. A necessity. One reading off, Bam! Either my built in Phazers will fire accidentally or my shielding energy systems would mistake another crewman of being an enemy threat and shock them to dust. I consider myself a “Terminator,” but with a soul. Back before my time-jump to 4466 from 2017, I would have never conceived of becoming a “living Machine.” I thank the Borg Queen for that. She was a sexy machine. Brilliant…too eccentric, but so beautiful a creature. Even if “Making the whole living galaxy like us, ‘a collective of planets,” was her unchangeable goal. My best friend and now “half-sister” Seven of Nine I had to thank for being Liberated from the Collective Mind and having millions of other drones linked inside of my mind. I was alone in my mind, once more. The implants not only made my Human strength 150 times a normal Super-Bodybuilder, they warded off any disease through the Nano probes detecting viruses and blasting them dead at a micro cellular level. I have a computer inside of my head, “A Cortical Implant” that raises my original Intellect from 220 to well above an unimagined 650. I can store the who ship’s memory in my mind and still have gig quads more space left for entire planet databases. Just inside this tiny microprocessor/life support machine inside my skull 149 of the crew that served with me on the Phenix died after Seven of Nine and the Doc tried to detach the more advanced Borg 2 generation implants from their Human and Alien bodies. I still feel horrid and hyped anger towards the loss of some of the greatest people I’ve ever had the pleasure not just to serve aboard a starship with, but, to have an extended family. As we toured for 15 years together. I’ve been with Star-fleet for 25 years. 15 years… I studied…I trained…. I fought in Hand to Hand battles with the fiercest of foes trying to steal our ship and its technology. As a drone, I was one of the Queen’s personal bodyguards and medical chief to the other medical attendants in the main royal collective station in the Delta section of Space. I processed orders to terminate drones, strip them of their living machine implants, and to make sure the queens own robotic fitting chamber was at peak operation. I used merely my Borg Beacon implanted in my lower cranium to instruct thousands of drones to do my medical and security bidding at a nano-second’s notice. All the information that I had stored in my Cortical Implant as a Medical/Security Commander Drone was still intact. I’ve processed thousands of different types of Worlds and their inhabitants. Their physiology. Their history. Assimilating techniques fitted for each and every individual life form. I was originally fitted with medical laser scalpels, high powered built in phasor array weapons throughout my old exoskeleton, and I had the Night-Vision and X-Ray vision of that 100 times more advanced than any medical facility in the known galaxy. I, myself, sliced the queen’s head off when Seven of Nine managed to help my mind regain its independence. Just long enough to silence her and the plot for one species to enslave the worlds. Even through the dismantling of the extra Borg equipment, Seven of Nine seemed to care for me and oversee the “assembly line” treatment of all 150 Phoenix Crew assimilated after our liberation. After my scars from the removal of the Borg implants healed, I had to have multiple cosmetic alterations made, surgically, in order to look at my peak. Well, a more Handsome looking Human, anyway. I was brought back to Star-fleet headquarters and tested for competency. Side effects of trauma caused by the pains of being assimilated and then de-assimilated. I was in fact still 55% Borg. The Star-fleet Headquarters had to make sure that my thoughts not only remained “my own,” but, I think within normal Star-fleet Official Military Perimeters. Not only did I recover, quickly, I recovered faster than most who went through what Seven of Nine and I had gone through. Impressed, Starfleet uploaded instructions and files concerning being placed at a Captain’s level of a Starship to enable me to start work on Voyager 3 as soon as it was finished being constructed. She was a massive ship. She might look like her sister ships Voyager One and Voyager 2, however, she out-gunned and out maneuvered both of these ships put together. She was a little bit bigger than most Intrepid class ships. In fact, she had enough spaces, quarters, and computer power of her bigger related vessel…the Galaxy Class. The Voyager 3 was a Medical Defense ship. We were to have a crew of a mere 100-150. (Due to the computers running the massive vessel which could house and comfortably accommodate 1,000 individuals). She has 4 engines. Outside the front and portions of the side portions of her bow appearing to look like Voyager, she had two engines on the side and two trans warp capable engines on the tips of the wings that extended past what the original Voyager held her two side mounted engines. Voyager 3 was deemed the “B47/Concord Supersonic Starship Jet of 4483.” I was to be awarded as she was being sent on her maiden voyage. To seek out worlds in the Delta section of space who needed, but requested, medical supplies, help, and defense from local invading planets. The sickbay was unusually quiet for the night before a launch of a starship. Intro Captain Xander Talias Bullock here. I've been serving with The United Federation of Planets for over 35 years. I am Human, by birth, however assimilated by the Borg Collective ten years ago. As I was on duty as Chief Security Officer aboard the U.S.S Phoenix II. The Phoenix was a research vessel with a Trans warp Prototype Warp Drive. Captain Tom Tucker and all 100 of the ships occupants were also Assimilated by the Collective. I was liberated 1 year later as Seven of Nine attempted a recovery mission of our missing crew members. Sadly, I was the only subject to survive a medical procedure to remove Borg Implants and restore our Original Physiology. 55% of the Borg Implants were removed. Alike Seven of Nine, I am almost Half Borg. I was born in an earlier time, as well. A time travel vessel (the U.S.S Chrystaline) was successfully completed and deployed to a target time on Earth; 2017 A.D. I was randomly picked to be transferred to the future in a science experiment to see how the time line would hold after removing 12 subjects from 4 different eras back in time, and from 4 different Planetoid Cultures. 1816,1916,2016, and 2216, from Earth, Cronos, Vulcan, and Delphi 6 were the Time and planetary targets. The experiment was a success. All of us test subjects were trained, at Star-fleet Academy, according to our mental, physical, and telepathic abilities. I was discovered to have above average Human Intellect at a score of 220 and a Telekinetic Ability to communicate through other Humanoid minds and "push" them to do what I had instructed through my mind. I was found to have terrific diplomatic skills. So naturally, Security and Engineering were my education agendas at the Academy. Now I command the Voyager 3. One of two prototypes constructed after the original Voyager's destruction 35 years ago. We travel through the Delta Quadrant and provide protection, education, and medical aid to those Planets in need of my services. .. Darren Tal looked beautiful in her long, black, Paris French Dress. Her long black hair curly and shiny. We were attending the Launch of my ship, "The Voyager Three." I was seated in the captain's chair in the center of the bridge right by the tactical and security posts. Tal wished to fill the position of "Chief Engineer." Her application was denied due to our spousal status and so she was allowed to act as ship's counselor. She was a kind heart. Bold. Brave. Perfect for the job. My pilot was Zen Dyak. A Vulcan who majored in starship design and creative engineering. He had quick reflexes and a brilliant and colorful mind. He had , like most Vulcan's, little to no emotions. However, he did show them, more than others of his species, from time to time. So I chose him. Bridget Darvey was from Scotland. She had twelve years of experience of weaponry and tactics aboard a galaxy class ship "The U.S.S Defiant 2." She was getting used to an Intrepid/Galaxy Class Mix with Borg Technology implants. (Due to my experience with the Borg, by being Borg, I had the technology replicated and installed). Steven Flikas was my Head of Security. Ironically, Harry Kim (an old crewman of voyager 1, seasoned but still able for his post on a star-ship had stepped up for position as my commander. 2nd in command. He was perfect). We were lucky enough to even get Data. From the Enterprise-D. We were quite grateful and honored to have such a famous and gifted Chief engineer and Tactics Official. He, too, stepped up for a ride on this newer breed of Star-fleet vessel. The crowd was heavy and quite large at the launching of Voyager 3's Ceremony. Tal was Standing Beside me in her New Command Uniform, holding onto my hand as she was never to let it go again. It was a new journey in a new ship. Policing areas in space. Trying to find a Terrorist Group calling themselves, “The Drix.” Since data was a living machine. A non-organic life-form, myself a half breed of sorts, and the Doctor, Picasso, a Holographic Life-form were threats to the drix... As they have the means and some twisted reason for wiping us all out. “Word has it, that the Drix are great Camouflagers. They know how to hide in the dark, in plain view, and are so cunning – one might think that one of us could be one of the members of this terrorist group. Aiming to wipe out all living non-biological life forms. Being from many different species of Humanoids, the Drix have no boundaries. Ex-star-fleet officers, Klingons, and even Vulcans have joined this brutal Cause. Anyone who hates the Borg, well, the word has it, The Borg is even Intimidated.” - Data explained the character of our enemies as the ships systems were turned on and my check-list for pre-warp take off was initiated. Pressing a touch screen on a panel fitted on a wrap around arm on my chair, I started my preflight announcement. “Attention. Crew of the Voyager 3. I am proud to be acting as your Official Captain, Xander Talius Bullock. All systems are go for launch and I advise all of you to take your stations as we prepare to leave the docking port. I am honored to have you as my crew and family. As you know, this mission shall be a long and treacherous one. We shall start our way to the Delta Quadrant, Shortly. As soon as word is given, our Slip Stream Drive and Trans-warp Drives shall be placed in operation.. Making our trip a quick and feisty one. All systems have been rechecked and tested by Star-fleet, so, we have a Green Light. As soon as we reach the Delta Quadrant, I shall then make another announcement for all senior officers to meet in my planning room for more details on how mission “Fox-Hunt” shall be completed. Thank you and enjoy your journey's start.” “Helmsman, ladies, take us out...” The beeps and clicks of their touch screens could be heard as the pilots tapped at their helm controls and engaged our impulse drives long enough to get us 50 feet away from Starbase 1. Just over Earth and Orbiting the most beloved home I had ever known. Tal was not born of this planet and she worried, long before we had accepted this mission, if we'd see her newly found and loved lands, ever again. The comforting sensations of our “Shared Heart” body signals kept her at ease. As we shared a unique commitment even beyond what marriage was even considered to be. We both loved it. As we were physically and mentally one with one another. We we two parts equaling one. Seeing her eyes in my mind's eye helped me get through even the longest of moments where I could not be holding her, tight, by my side. Darren Tal never fully explained the origins of her home world. As far as Star base computers could explain, her and her family were crew-members and life residents about a generational ship. Running for over 400 years. Up until the first Voyager met up with them. Many of them, including my beloved Tal, wanted to be free of the confinement of the ship. As her related species were Xenophobic. The were afraid of any outsiders, whatsoever. Meeting my heroes Kate Janeway and Seven of Nine brought some of those fears to rest. In the late 1970's, just when I was originally born. Before the time travel experience of 2016, they had started their journey as a smaller exploratory vessel. I had mentioned to Tal how I believed that our two species could be related. She didn't doubt it. We just could find the evidence. That some of the Varron Natives were in fact mutations of other Human beings on Earth. Their generational ship was clearly not from the delta quadrant and another species, the Krol, were a reptilian race who were our cousins. It just fit. I had some features that were identical to Counselor Troy's of the Late enterprise D. A Betazoid. Scans revealed I had a brain structure just as advanced as her race. However, I was still a native to the planet Earth. “Stay strong, my love.” I heard Tal's brainwaves broadcast into my own subconscious speak. “Helm....Engineering....Stand by For Trans-warp Engine Startup and Engagement on my mark...” “Five....Four....Three....Two...Turn down Impulse Drives and Give me Trans-warp at Warp 8.9” “Engaged, sir.... “ Zem Dyak exclaimed. “Perfect.” Smiling, Commander Kim seemed to be in sync with me in expression of relief that this new technology didn't have some form of new and out of the box bugs to kink out. “How do systems look Data?” “All functions are at normal parameters, Captain.” “Bridget, How about weapons and shields?” “A little bit jumpy there, Mr. Bullock. But, she is humming like a hummingbird in Spring.” - She smiled as I enjoyed her Scottish whit and phrases. “Xander, we shall be in the Delta Quadrant within two hours.” - Harry Kim calculated due to the Trans-warp Engines taking over the regular warp drive.. Voyager three had four reactors. Very big and powerful liquid plasma trans-nerve connectors and synaptic fluid fuel particles being processed like a human brain. Amazing. The huge cylinder shaped canisters of “intelligent anti-matter-positive matter processing systems” reminded me of huge brains. In reason, the two were similar. The cores were “intelligent.” Sort of like Data. We had the first warp cores that were fully Automatic. They also are the first to “think” and “feel” also to “reason” just like Data's Transmatric Nero Network that made up his living machine. His mind. In fact, data had made the selection of creating the first Artificially Intelligent Power System ever constructed. Our computer had a male voice. Funny how times change. It was a middle aged, gentle, however bold sounding tone that made me think of my Sixth Grade Drama Teacher. Tony Farella. So, I nicknamed the Computer 'Tony.” The processes of my Borg implants needed regeneration in 12 hours. So I had to make sure all my duties were done and all reports were filed. So Tal and I could spend some much needed romantic alone time together and Seven of Nine, who ironically was part of the crew as my personal physical attendant (due to her own experiences with me in the past and my Borg Equipment Operation Skills) she could maintain my critical systems if the access nuclear fission in the core or any of my implants should malfunction. I had a few scares when my lasers fired off and wounded some security guards at the academy while I was training. We were studying self defense. Instead of boxing or a kick knocking an opponent down, I accidentally had a reflex where my laser defense system armed itself and injured two security. Along with cutting another instructor's hand off due to a panic attack. Once Seven of nine taught me how to control my laser implants through new programming techniques and new organic thought reflex exercises, I was declared “Fit to continue training” after six months of Seven tutoring me in the art of “Being Human” instead of “borg.” I seemed to learn and recover fast psychologically when it came to most experiences. Medical and or emotional. After being given two extra chances to relive my life...Before the time trip and after the Borg Assimilation and Integration to the Queen's Hive Mind. I concerned these more than miracles of chances that were being given unto me by Star-fleet. The individuals, as well. Who helped me regain my human and Machine traits. I would often talk at length about my upbringing with my wife, Tal, and our Twelve year old Daughter, Chrystal Anne. In all due logic, I was over 400 years old and I looked like I was still in my twenties. (If yo exclude the Borg Eye sensor covering my Left eye and the bionic portions of Borg Shielding glowing through my skin in green flickers of pulses. I'd laugh with Tal and my daughter after I'd joke about going back in time and walking through “da-Hood” (Ghetto) as a borg drone. “I'd be my own worst nightmare to all. No boy would step up to this scary son – of – a -bitch.” Tal gave me credit for surviving such a hard life before becoming a trans-time individual sought as a candidate for their “Time Era Adaptation and Reintegration Project.” Most of my memories were still coming back in spirits since my assimilation and becoming liberated from the collective. It was also the sickness from Olan'vora. Olan'vora was a Varro biochemical reaction. During and after mating, the epidermal skin illuminated. Psychological bonding increased with our exposure,to one another, stimulating the areas of the brain responsible for love. Allowed to advance, the olan'vora became permanent and Tal and I became biochemically linked. Separation thereafter was rare, however, up until this point the effects would diminish in a matter of months with decreased exposure. Withdrawal symptoms could be unpleasant. However, Tal and I were constantly together after we had met. Months before away missions due to training and serving as an ensine about the Phoenix ii. If we were to be apart for more than a month, we had to keep in visual and auditory contact within every five days. If we had to be physically separated for more than a month, hypo-sprays warded off the severe medical dilemmas of our Biochemical inter-linkage together. At times, Tal and I became so sick, I had to stay in sick bay for a week at a time in order for my chemical biological makeup to be regulated. Harry Kim became romantically involved with Derran Tal, a Varro female. She didn't believe it was possible for a Human to be affected by olan'vora. I disagreed, as well, with Tal. “I think we still originated from a similar species back on Earth. Whether primate or reptilian, like the Flox, we too are quite similar. (Outside of sex being a little bit more than just plan intercourse). When Tal and I made love, we would have foreplay, however, the chemicals in her saliva and Vagina walls were quite powerful. While I would penetrate her, her vaginal walls would swell and become tighter. Little fibers inside of her vagina would become stimulated and act like thousands of tiny needles. Prickling into my skin and then longer-yet into my veins. Her body would extract her secretions into my penis and through her hands as she touched my body. Injecting hormones alike when a man ejaculates. Stimulating me even deeper. The injecting nodes, or 'hair fibers' were not painful. I could feel them for a second as itchy mosquito bites. Then, when her ejaculations began, she would secrete her chemicals into my body and deepen the euphoric and orgasmic state. Her receptors also removed some of my chemical markups and hormones into her own bloodstream. Slowly, but surely, making us “interconnected” as a single biological unit. Every time we had sex or even held each other. Our bodies worked together in fusing one another together. Her vagina would glow. After awhile so did my penis. Chemically, I started becoming more feminine and she, a tad masculine. It was fantastic. Her eyes would transmit signals that only my subconscious could comprehend. Our brain chemistry became one as well. Her tongue would also wrap around my uvula and exchange fluids, as well. It didn't choke me, rather, it made us even more aroused. Ass I started to have oral sex with Tal's Vagina, similar things happened as she orgasmed as I had orgasmed. My tongue would glow and so would her clitoris. Her vaginal fluids tasty quite sweet and were intoxicating like alcohol. Sex with a Varro Female was so intense, I'd love to die while pleasing the woman I loved. Even at first glance. When I bumped into Tal in History and Technology Class. Just one look into her brown eyes that first time and I could swear that we both knew we would be husband and wife. I knew that part of the Varro mating ritual was where the Female drew in her potential mate, whom she first became drawn too, through her invisible eye signals beamed to me from her own chemicals causing her brain to change light frequencies in her pupils. The smell her body put out while I was nearest to her drew me even closer. Her hormones smelt so good, sweet in fact. I was physically desiring her, but yearning for her like a hungry man who has not eaten a speck of food in weeks. I was quite hungry for Darren Tal's body. I really was looking at marrying an Asian lady by the name of Lilian Drang. A student studying for her engineering career. Lilian and I had been intimate for six months after I had started the academy. Until shortly after this, I met Tal. I couldn't look at Lilian any more. Even our emotional involvement becoming seriously tied together wasn't enough from Tal drawing me closer from Lilian. Lilian was quite hurt by my leaving her. I couldn't explain to her why. I just didn't know at the time. Somehow, I just needed Tal. The first few times I was sexually involved with Tal, was in my Dorm room that Lilian and I shared, together, as a serious couple. A few times when Lilian walked in, she had caught Tal and I making love. She could see that Translucent glow shining in the dark before Lilian turned the lights on to confront us, until she ran off traumatized. Leaving the door wide open behind her. I tried to apologize. At times Lilian accepted my apologies and told me if I never saw Tal again, we could still get married, as planned, within the next six months as we had planned. Her father, Dol, owned a freighter service for supplies being brought in to and from the academy. Every time I tried to stay away from Tal, I'd get physically and emotional sick. A few times, I ended up in the infirmary. Having hypo-sprays pumped into me, with no success. I was drawn back to Tal without even a word being said. Two months later, Tal and I were married instead. The birth of our Daughter came next. The Varro Female went through labor for days before the offspring would be born. Even then, our hands must be touched , and my presence be assured if the two were to survive the birthing process. If I hadn't been there, for any reason, both Tal and our Daughter , Chrystal, would have died during birth. Holding Tal's hand as she pushed and pushed our child out into her living world, I could note becoming entranced and our thoughts being melded into one. Our daughter's subconscious mind was with us as well. “Hello Father, Hello Mother.” - Her voice echoed through our united consciousness. “we are now three... a life forever meant to be... one and forever...Our shared Hearts. Now we have a united family.” Both of us started to glow with green translucent colors as our baby daughter cried for the first time. A bright light passed, into and out from our conscious unity ,before we had reclaimed our conscious moments apart from the mind meld. Full of sweat, me and Tal smiled and hugged each other. I picked the baby girl out of the doctor's hands and held her to me. Her little smile was just lke her mom's. She had my eyes. Chrystal Blue. “Chrystal...” we both said in unison as we came up with the name , together. “Anne” was Tal's idea. From that old movie I played for Tal from my childhood, “Annie.” It just fit. So, Chrystal Anne Bullock was born at 2:00pm on a Friday evening. As my attention ran back to the present, our ship was in Trans-warp. The flickering energy waves on the main display screen appeared psychedelic as we were speeding closer and closer to the Delta Quadrant. "We shall reach the Delta Quadrant in 30 minutes present speed" Data announced. "Good. My first order as your Captain, a relaxing break in the mess-hall for an hour, then a board meeting covering scans to be performed for any DRIX Activity in our entry point of this area, and a mapping of all current Drix Locations as transmitted to the computers by Star-fleet." - I smiled after feeling "overwhelmingly Important" as I sat in the center chair. I tried not to show too much ego, however, it is natural for someone in my position to display some sort of gloat. Tal was rapidly getting more and more healthier, since our kiss of “Hello.” She was moved to a general Medical room in Star-fleet's medical center.. I came to visit her 4 hours every day. After my training on operations of the systems aboard Voyager 3. Which was docked at Star-dock Alpha-One. She was a beautiful ship. I had six chairs of unique leather fitting ,for me, and the five officials to be stationed along side of me. Two helmsmen stations , two tactical and weapons stations, two communications centers, and two medical/engineering/science centers. All-in-all, we had a huge bridge. A lot more automated than the other vessels that I was stationed on. The bridge was more comfortable to sit and navigate with than the Enterprise d. It was so simple to operate, that as long as you were captain, one could operate the whole ship by himself. I needed my engineers and science officers, to help make repairs and also calculate star charts and time variables. We have two physicians. The Chief Physician was the old Doctor EMH Hologram turned “Holographic Life form,”as he became self-aware aboard the original Voyager. Since my Borg implants and technology were the most compatible with the newest of technology aboard Voyager three, I was needed to train additional crew members on how the Trans-warp arrays, Borg tactical weapons arrays, and Klingon Cloaking Arrays worked. My brain was filled with every detail file on the newest of star-fleet prototypes. I was a walking encyclopedia on anything Star-fleet. Since my Borg cortical implant was stronger than any other Borg, I had more memory and quicker assimilation qualities of information than any being aboard this new vessel. People could learn from me. My telepathic abilities aided me in communicating with any crew member lost without a com badge. I was equal to the Betzoids and Vulcans in their telepathic abilities. Added the fact that I could transmit a vocal message into anyone's mind and actually sense their response. Even if they were millions of miles apart from me. Each time I sat in the Center chair, in the Captain's command row of Voyager Three, I felt a strong emotion of pride and power as I looked to the front of me at the Central View Screen. “Tal would love sitting beside me at the moment we had to fight off an attack. She could see her husband in action.” - I'd often talk to my wife about pushing her weight aboard Voyager 3. As ship's counselor. And starfleet agreed. Tal was good with others. A soothing personality and soul. That special trait that brought us together shall keep the crew on this ship comforted and felt cared for. The Experiment that brought me into the 24th century was brought on by Star Fleet. Individuals who were destined for an eternal end with no offspring were chosen to participate. I, was one of those subjects chosen. It was 2017. December. The cold Chicago morning brought shivers up my spine. I had finished a recording session for a new album I was worked on, “Cold Dust..” which I was certain would be a techno dance hit. It was 12:00am. I was so tired, that I could barely get to my 2017 Freight-liner Rv. As I unlocked and opened the front driver's side door, a bright purple light lit up from above and harsh winds started to form all around the studio building and the RV. Looking up, it appeared to be a weird looking aircraft. A small shuttle, but without the jet engine sound. It was quite silent and interesting in shape. It looked like a small fighter space plane from battlestar Galactica. (One of my favorite space series). Avoiding a collision of it and myself, I jumped into my truck, quicky started the engine and skidded away. For a moment, I thought I had lost the medium sized craft. “Good, no where in….” before I could finish my sentence, a bright light illuminated all around me and my truck and slowly we disappeared and ended up in the shuttle craft ,itself. It was the size of three cargo jets. Mostly touch screens and fancy displays that, I, myself had never seen before. A young lady, along with what appeared to be two larger male security guards, appeared before me sitting in my vehicle up in the cargo bay area of the ship. The two Security guards were holding two weird looking rifles and my heart beat harshly quick and quite hard from all the excitement. I fainted. 12 hours later, as I awoke feeling as if I were tranquilized like a horse, I noticed a weird circular scanner sliding towards the middle of my body from the sides of the bed that I was lying on. “Awake, I see. “ - a Blondie haired Doctor who looked around 35 walked towards my bio-bed and started tapping on the touch screen portions of the bed's holoscreens. “Welcome to the year 2350. You have been chosen for a top secret reintegration and behavioral testing program that we liked to code, 'Project Retouch.'” - the gentleman had a soothing smile and a calm sense to his demeanor. However, the idea of being in another time seemed too far fetched for me to believe. “No way, sir. As advanced as all your equipment is, I believe you are government F.e.m.a. agents trying to expose to a new sort of interrogation technique to.”
I then sensed the man's thoughts and realized that we were,in fact, in the early part of the year of 2350. “How did you get to Earth, how do you know English, and I did have a feeling that time travel was possible…"What part of the government are you with...” shortly after stating my reaction, the doctor's thoughts were picked up by my psi talents, “He shall adapt quite well being that he is quite intelligent. Star-fleet training it is.” I heard his thoughts, as I thought the doctor hadn't noticed. Tapping his recommendations on his small touch pad chart computer.
“ahh, a telepath. I see. I had underestimated you having the ability. Most humans lack the proper usage of their whole brain in order to even understand how to even go about using that sort of mental talent.”
Outside of appearing completely human, he had pointed ears and weird shaped eyebrows.
“I am Vulcan. Dr. Zen is my name. Chinne Zen.” - we shook hands, however, after shaking hands – the doctor injected me with some sort of tranquilizer so I could sleep during the ride back to our secret base on the planet Zenox 5.
The memories of my integration into this new time period, the advanced technology of this era, and the different beings I had encountered over the last 35 years still remain fresh in my mind, to this day.
I found out through the Planet's database (later that year) that I was part Betazed and part human. I had one other alien race in me. Varro. A coincidence, yes, but not surprising. I always had a feeling that some Human beings were far fro what they had appeared to be and assumed that a lot of Humans , that I thought were weird, turned out to be inhabitants from another part of the galaxy. I was proved right, yet again, in assumption.
Tal had explained to me that the Generational ship that she had lived on, started it's journey during the early 1970's. In 1973 portions of the ship broke off. They had twelve living pods at the time and three pods fell to Earth and crash landed on the Northern portion of the globe. Part in the Americas and parts of Asia.
She figured the news out while she was Engineer and scientist aboard their ship as she plotted with countless other Varro sisters and brothers to break away from the solitary existence that their Xenophobic relatives forced them into.
Figuring out that the pods could work independently after technical modifications were made shortly after the emergency separations of 1973 and 2012, her idea for the synthetic virus could ensure their escape from solitude 12 fold.
After flying her pod to a nearby Star-base Space Station about 25 light years from where their ship had broken off into pieces and the original Voyager had left their potion, Tal asked around and found some computer information from a Ferengi that proved accurate to where their race had come from.
Some were, in fact , from Earth. They had fixed their pod's warp engines and flew to different parts of the galaxy.
Some were explorers who merely were products of intimidating aliens that had just steered clear of other species and continued to find other portions of the galaxy to inhabit and go to.
She explained that a planet name Varrion 5 became too congested to live on and that the politics of the era were corrupt and unjust. So a group of scientists and scavengers but the soon to be generational ship from spacecrafts, parts salvaged from their homes, and parts purchased and or salvaged from items acquired from space stations and other jobs they came across, were built into the ship of exploration and community.
I understood why she felt so trapped upon the generational ship. Avoid everyone all the time meant lonely hours and limited cultures from which to learn new facts from.
Being told where to go and how to get there is “slave's life,” I had agreed.
I explained to her , that we were not too much different in lifestyles (while she was aboard the generational ship) whee I was living back in the 21st Century. When money was still in use and government power was still in it's Childhood phase. (Before Star-fleet was created and money was too much of a burden to carry, anymore before the system abolished the use of paper and coin currency).
Before the invention of Dr. Cochran's. The Warp engine. We were grounded, Cuffed to our planet, and unaware of other life forms. Until “First Contact” of 2135. (I told her that was a guesstimate as I was so bored in history class at the academy). I learned much better, hand's on, before I was assimilated into the Borg Collective. Now, I could just scan books, computer terminals, and use my assimilation tubules and suck the information out of a person, item, or computerized mechanism and just learn.
Smiling, I'd kiss her neck gently and whisper, “That's how glad we got to know each ether's bodies and spirits 'hands on.”
Darren Tal would giggle and her face would become all flush.
I reached the turbo shaft number one. As the doors went to slide closed, Darren Tal rushed to join me on the bridge.
“Hello My Love......Have a sweet breakfast break?” - the sparkle in her eyes never ceased to amaze me. It was breath taking.
“Victor Made the most amazing French Toast, for me, this evening. I figured, 'we are scanning the start of the Delta Quadrant for Signs of Drix Terrorist Attacks. I have to be fueled and ready.” - smiling, Tal kissed me deeply and we held hands, not just as Captain and Ship's Counselor, but as Husband and wife.
I was so grateful to have my life back, again.
This time, to honor those fallen and those who risked their lives to get me to where I am at, today, I'll destroy every last participant in the Drix Movement.
Even if this Voyager seems to get stuck, lost, in yet another part of the galaxy.
The bridge was quite busy. Harry Kim at his chair, instructing Data where he wished to take our ship first. Then to call Victor to the Bridge. Data was already at his post, efficient as ever.
The Borg Mind Released.
Posted on December 1, 2015 by kevinmkappler
Here is the start of Star Trek Fan-Fiction, that I am writing, as a spin-off to the original “Voyager.”
Voyager 3, The Borg Mind Released- Pathway to Insanity
Captain Xander Talias Bullock here.
I’ve been serving with The United Federation of Planets for over 20 years.
1816,1916,2016,and 2216, from Earth, Chronos, Vulcan, and Delphi 6 were the Time and planetary targets. The experiment was a success. All of us test subjects were trained, at Starfleet Academy, according to our mental , physical, and telepathic abilities.
I was discovered to have above average Human Intellect at a score of 220 and a Telekinetic Ability to communicate through other Humanoid minds and “push” them to do what I had instructed through my mind.
I was found to have terrific diplomatic skills. So naturally, Security and Engineering were my education agendas at the Academy.
Now I command the Voyager 3. One of two prototypes constructed after the original Voyager’s destruction 35 years ago.
We travel through the Delta Quadrant and provide protection, education, and medical aid to those Planets in need of our services.
Throughout the Galaxy, species are being destroyed. Through the aid of an Anti-Borg/Cyber-organism Society naming themselves the “Drix.”
The Drix are secretly spread out in locations throughout all quadrants of all Known Galaxies.
Weapons, which are made up of a computer virus,nano-probes, and a biological virus, are being deployed through launched photon torpedoes, probes, food supplies, mutated Borg assimilated technologies, sent communication signals, and stolen Federation Technologies.
Such tech was already infected with both a virus weapon, nano-probe devastation measure, infected biological agents, and hidden program codes.
A weapon was designed to infect cyber-organisms, alien life forms ( which are Holographic life entities), or Borg Forces with a triple function biological, mechanical, and tissue mutation virus.Nana-probes were programmed to destroy hardware and living tissues from within the body. Finally chemical Mutagens were placed in adjunct to create the ultimate killing machine.
A super-deadly weapon that causes organs (inside the invaders biological systems) and The Mechanical Computer/Program/Life support/Internal Operating System Centers in Biotech Organisms to mutate.
The Mutagens, which are Contained in strands of these coded viruses, Destructive Nana probes, and chemical agents; within each weapon, such a weapon targets both biological DNA and computer hardware Systems (in cybernetic life forms).
This weapon forces changes, to both the Biological DNA Structuring and The Mechanic Hardware Portions of a Cybernetic Alien’s Physiology. Life Support Systems, Programs, and Physical Memory Systems are attacked..Until all components are permanently shut down and damaged.
Internal organs mutate, from within DNA Strands inside of every organ. Until all organs shut down ,die, and become useless, the virus keeps replicating and attacking from within the Alien’s body.
All hardware ceases to function, permanently. Due to the nano probes attacking all working machinery. When the computer virus erases all hardware programming codes , and the results are death, only then will the weapon finish its function.
The Drix do try and overthrow Planetary Systems, which had already been populated with Borg, and Cybernetic Life forms. Fear , confusion, and effects on the beings not targeted by the Drix, are ridden with health and telepathic mind psychosis plagues, as a side effect of a poorly planned war of hate war weapon. Such threatens all United Federation of Planets inhabitants. Measures have been taken to reprograms all Planetary Computers to become autonomous guardians. Monitoring activity of all Drix colonies they seek out, locate, and monitor. Through Probes, Federation Star ships, and Communications grids
My ship, Voyager 3, was designed to execute such a mission. We are one defense against a growing threat that threatens to endanger large races through a Hate Crime brought on by a past that should have been forgotten long ago.
Darren Tal had not seen me in over a year after the Borg infiltration. She was so certain I was lost as a drone that she became deathly sick. Due to her Varro Physiology, her and I were mated for life. I had just been released from the Starfleet Medical Facility and the only difference she’d see in my face is my left eye was a huge, flat and glowing red sensor and my hands were lined with assimilation tubules and display/laser output components.
My hair was the same. So was my smile. I was not full human, but, I was fascinated in my new function. I felt like Arnold Schwarzenegger in “Terminator.”
I was on my way back to our home, located in the personel housing complex on Shuttle Magnex, when the call came in over the loud speakers. “Darren Tal’s Health has Responded. Repeat, Darren Tal’s Health has Responded. Condition updated from Critical to Stable.”
I, too, felt quite a bit more healthier and energetic. In Darren’s culture, their mind’s could sense their mate from 100 miles away. As long as they were within planetary local.

“Xander? IS that you?” Darren Tal was hooked to scanners, pumps, and a life support system awhile Xander was a Borg General Drone in the Borg Collective.
She had remained critical until Xander leaned over and kissed Darren on the Lips just like waking “Snow White” from her Coma Slumber.
Amazingly, Xander’s Memories flooded his Cortical implant. The pair glowed a brighter green than when Harry Kim from Voyager first met and dated Tal almost 25 years ago. She looked so beautiful and young. Even though she was in her late fifties.
Her age never showed. When Xander  was entranced by Darren Tal’s beauty aboard the Phoenix ii, she appeared as if she were 23.
This time, they were both crew members and cleared for such an affair. I was the Chief Security detail at the time. That first kiss tasted like Honey and my body felt as if I was floating in the Heavens.
This kiss was no different. However, Tal was doomed to die since Xander and her were permanently bonded in the process of the Olan’vora.
“I remember , that in the collective, my implants would fail due to Tal and I being separated by force. The Borg queen had to install a special pump to keep my biological systems alive due to them trying to shut down after being away from Tal for only three months.
“I had no memories. I am thinking that our separation caused severe Brain Trauma and Tal’s kiss returned the missing chemicals back into my blood stream…through this beautiful reunion and sweet honey kiss.”
I turned to the doctors who were still quite cheerful about Tal regaining consciousness after a coma that lasted for almost two and a half years.
“Well, Two of Twenty-Nine. Do you remember how the Queen finally released her grasp do you?” – Seven of Nine also looked quite young for a Borg drone of 55.
I had sensed it was a trick question to get me to explain to Tal that I had murdered the queen of the Borg by slashing off her head with my built in Laser scalpels that had been installed in my arms.
Pulling a seat nearest to my Lovely wife, I asked how our twelve year old Daughter, Chrystal, was doing. If she had succeeded as a recording legend…She so wanted to become a legend. To honor me. After I was stripped from her almost three years ago and her mother flat-lined shortly after.
Chrystal stayed by her mother’s bedside..until she heard of my liberation. The scheduled return date to this moment- when Tal and I could be successfully reunited.
“Xander, dear, I don’t really know.” Tal’s sweet and soft laugh always made me grow more and more attached to her. The luminescent shine returned to us.
” Funny, how must a Borg Drone Looks all lit up like a Green Light Bulb.” I hugged my wife very closely to  me. We held onto each other as if we had our life to depend on it.
“Your daughter did not become a musician. Rather, she succeeded you in returning to Starfleet Academy and became one of our youngest pupils.
“She is studying the Borg. She is on the Chapter covering your Mentor, Xander, Captain Kate Janeway.” – a familiar voice echoed from across the room. It was Harry kim.
“You look like hell, Xander. But, that’s what I have always liked about you. Your strength. How even through hell and back, you never stopped.” – Harry Stood nearest to the foot of Tal’s medical bed.
“Thanks, Harry for being such a great support. Xander, Harry looked after me after I had fallen sick from Olan’vora.
Smiling, i hugged Harry for protecting my dearest part of my life’s force. Next to serving to protect the Fleet….as I was briefed on the way over to Tal’s Critical Care Unit. I was briefed over the Voyager Three Multi-Tech craft. I was to be the Captain.
“Tal, even better news. You tell her Xander.” – Harry smiled as he pushed for me to start with the better news before answering Seven’s question Concerning the grip of the Borg, the Queen, and my life.
“Voyager is not the last in Line. Neither is two. I am the captain of the Voyager Three Multi-Alien Technology craft project. Against a rebel terrorist group calling themselves, the drix?” – I looked at Kim for a confirmation of the group’s name.
“yep. That’s it.” – Kim slapped his fists together, in a feisty and friendly manner as he did when he was in a cheerful mood.
“Voyager Three, honey, well, this is a lot to take in.” – Kissing her forehead.
“Tell me, what will she do?” – Tal laughed as she asked me for the details in a humorous and flirty way.
She can cloak like a Klingon Bird Of Prey. Fire while Cloaked. She can achieve Trans-warp flights while cloaked and armed like a Borg Cube, and She is the Biggest Ship, now, in the fleet. ”
“wow…. and my forever dearest is at the command of such a powerful ship?” – Tal kissed me delicately in pride as she was told that her husband would serve on the most advanced star-ship ever conceived by Starfleet.
“Two of Twenty Nine of Adjacent One. You Never Confirmed the Reasons  of Why The Borg Queen allowed you to be liberated..In the first place. I think you need to tell her….Or should I?”
Seven was in a determined frame of mind that I would not be able to avoid her question. She knew I was scared to explain to my newly Conscious wife, Tal, that I had executed the leader of the Borg Species.
“How did you get away from the Queen, my love?” Tal held my sweaty hand as she knew I was quite nervous. She always knew. We were telepathic. Connected by soul and Blood.
“Nooo. You…You Didn’t,Xand, you Didn’t?” – Tal picked up a stray telepathic thought of the incident behind the queen’s murder.
Tal was a firm believer in the preservation of life. As was I. Before I had no other choice but to end the Queen. I felt guilt, anger, and satisfaction of revenge…all wrapped up into one.
Seven smiled, hung her head and placed her left hand upon my shoulder as I tried to explain to my sweet Tal, that I had no other choice but to murder the queen through Decapitation. How the queen ordered me as her chief medical and royal tactical Security Drone. How I was the one Drone to lead the attack on Earth to Assimilate, once again, millions of lives.
The torture of Implants painfully installed into my body. The screams and horror of me being experimented on as the Queen “Perfected” Her most advanced and powerful Drone ever to be assimilated into the collective.
I didn’t have to say one word. Tal heard my Telepathic tears and memories pouring out of my mind into hers.
Sobbing, I lowered my Half-Robotic Head to her chest.
Messaging my back of my head, “I understand my love. You had no other choice.”
Tears flowed from Tal's eyes as she relived my memories with me.
“She’s gone and you are with me…..Safe and one.”
We were now in the Delta Quandrant. Thanks to Voyager 3(c)'s new TraceWarp engine revamp. We just seem to “ooze” as we traveled as if we were simply “zapped” out of the Alpha Quandrant. Out our space dock.
She flew quite smoothly. The advanced weapons and cloaking engineering was superb.
Scotty would have fell in love with this big sweety.
Three reactors fueled her. We used dilithium gel, instead of crystals. Such ended up three times as powerful concentrated and in liquid as it quickly was pushed and converted in the warp reactor's plasma.
“Captain,” another small vessel has been detected by our sensors. Do you wish me to open hailing frequencies?”
“Data made this deduction quite quickly. I was always amazed by his technology. Even though my own Borg tech was even more developed than his.
Part of his Emotions chip could pick such up. Yet, my Betazed emotions made such even more powerful clearer.
My left ocular implant also displayed his emotions color.
Any living entity, bionic or organic,(such is sensible by my brain which also was organic).
The vessel was lengthy, wide, and it resembled a larger Varro vessel. My family was before me and my emotions were tingling.
Sensing all of the entities aboard, “250 life forms are aboard and life support is failing.” - Data spoke.
“Commander Kim. Go to transporter two with general of security, Jessie Wilcox. Both of you shall beam aboard the Varro vessel and see what casualties exist. Doctor Divinci shall accompany you to aid the injured. Keep me posted.”
 “Yes Xant.” - Harry
Tapping my comm badge, “Xander to Dr. Devinci. To sickbay. Priority alert. “
“Yes, Captain Bullock...I was just enjoying a mid-evening concerto with Ensign of Medicine, Keith Geid.” - Mr. Divinci , as one knows was a legend from the first Voyager, won my selection as ships Captain of Medicine.
Gied looked italian. But, was almost 75%  Greek. He grew in San Francisco training at Star Fleet Academy to win the title, “Chief Medical Officer” aboard a ship.
At the top of his graduating class, he flew aboard the pheonix 3's medical rescue starship. Acting as resident physician to captain Myers.
He was quite impressive. He was brilliant and an artist with skilled hands in surgery.
A medical tricorder was almost unnecessary as illness (from as many as 100 species) was amazing stored in his Half Klingon and Human mind.
His father was a general “Xang” in the Klingon high command and his mother an English Nurse studying an outbreak of Kardasian Xenionervosis virus infections.
She met Xang as he defended Kardasian during the Marque rebellion. Such was put to rest as their services proved invaluable in outer and more lethal locations of the galaxy.
With cunning command, Xang could wield his power very stealthy and in a quick and ingeniously plotted manner.
I aided the President of Star Fleet when I was freshly graduated from Star Fleet. Before I boarded the Pheonix.
We met as I went to detain him, however, the Marque and him proved useful in this Drix war as it had been discovered and as I was taken and first assimilated bt the Borg.
They were quickly renamed the “Starfleet Shining Marque Squad.”
These wars remind me of Earth's World War 2. Outside of it being in the far reaches of space.
They wore blue silk jackets with black fire shaped shoulder shades (instead of standard starfleet colored schemes.
Their badges were also redesigned as a Glossy Sparkling Silver Right Shing “M” as they were our “Secret Spies.” (As comparable to Earths historic Cia from my home country, The United States.
Mars was my favorite vacation. As newly connected vessel's commander stood before me, he reminded me of the Martians in which the legendary and historic “Area 51” of Earth's American Territorial Arizona portrayed. Of Yesteryear.
He stood about five feet three and no inches. White long hair. Bigger head, green chrystal shining eyes, white eyebrows, stern jaw, and long green skin with suction cups on his fingers. Such reminded me of the old time “Gyco(tm) commercials.
The little lizard driving his small red jaguar, reminding us to “Save on Car Insurance,” however humorous, this being was a lot (in similarity) as he spoke.
“Commander Tyoc, I bid you greetings and ask of you, do you require any assistance from the United Federation of Planets. I am Captain Xander Xavier Bullock of Star Fleet Command aboard the Uss Voyager C. “ - With a smile and my ocular implant glowing red, green, and purple, my Borg implants could immediately identify him as Stolaxian. From Planet Solaxus 9. Far off in the start of the Delta Quadrant, they were of scientific research and peaceful research communities . The damages to his vessel appeared to be of internal provocation or some actions that were accidentally overloading the reactors and systems of his smaller Stolaxian Cruiser.
Shaped like a silver and green King Crab, this 55 personal vessel was quick as ours, however, a little bit in technological  similarity as the Vulcans.
These beings were, also in fact, telepathic. I could hear all 55 minds blazing into mine. I could filter them. Of course. I am Betazed and Borg. Neat? Not to them. Their logic confused them with me being of questionable motive.
“I can assure you Commander, I mean no harm to you or your vessel. I am liberated.” - I ended speaking due to the lack of response and sensed fear in these poor drifters.
As they were failing in life support and propulsion systems and had five crew members seriously radiated by radiation burns from a overheated reactor core.
“We know of your kind. We trust no contact from the Borg.”
“The vessel you command, is this a trick or indeed, a fact in origin?”
Commander Tyoc also broadcast curiosity in his feelings. I nodded my head as I smiled from finding, what I considered in my instincts, maybe some  new allies?
Do you know of the Federation? I am the real deal, my friend. I have been liberated from the Borg and fought against my kind in the liberation from the Borg attacking my far reaching planet Earth. Situated in The Alpha Quadrant. Trillions of Light-years, almost five years in travel. I assure you, we are assigned to rescue, investigate and challenge threatening species trying to conquer and harm other planetary systems.” - sitting back down in the Center chair, Tal Sat next to me. Relaxing after nervous feelings appeared, then to calm, after I broadcast relief to her, telepathically.
“ooh. Most impressive Captain Bullock.”
Tyrok explained research concerning an anti-drix weapon project evolving nanobot detection, countermeasure, and medical damage reversal of damages to the species inflicted by their cruel weapons.
“I applaud your efforts and your Planet's concern with the Drix outbreak and cruel intentions of mission.”
Smiling, I clapped as I responded with charm and integrity.
“Thank you Bullock. I can sense your Telepathy. You are an empath?”
“No, Telepath,Telekinetic, and also Bionic.” - smiling.
“That is a powerful trait in, what species? Betazed?” - Tryok was quite intelligent and , as well, charismatic.. Unlike the Vulcans , who were sterile sounding, and sometimes narrative, in vocals, like a computer.
“I like your personality. How's about you and your crew board Voyager C as our guests, get fixed up, and enjoy a great feast with us? Our gift to our meeting? AAA e?”
“I'd be of honor, captain. We shall prepare for transport in a moment.”
“Captain Bullock to sickbay. Beam the injured there. Security.... Meet the Tyrokans at Sickbay and dock 2. Arm phazers on stun....Go to yellow alert. Notify Starfleet that we are assisting a damaged vessel and greeting a new contact. Non volatile or threatening.”
“Yes, Captain” - the comm officer obeyed and Starfleet concurred.
