In today's fast-paced world, maintaining optimal health can be challenging. Many individuals face issues like poor sleep, persistent back pain, and low energy levels. However, with a combination of mindful practices and natural remedies, it's possible to address these concerns and achieve a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. This blog offers practical advice on improving sleep, relieving back pain, boosting energy, and embracing holistic wellness regimens.
1. Advice for Better Sleep: Unlocking Restful Nights
A good night's sleep is essential for mental and physical well-being. Poor sleep affects productivity, mood, and overall health. To achieve better sleep, start by creating a calming bedtime routine. Here are some tips:
Set a Regular Sleep Schedule: Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends.
Optimize Your Sleep Environment: Keep your bedroom cool, dark, and quiet. Consider using blackout curtains or an eye mask, and use earplugs or a white noise machine if needed.
Limit Screen Time: Avoid using electronic devices at least 30 minutes before bedtime. The blue light from screens can interfere with melatonin production, making it harder to fall asleep.
Practice Relaxation Techniques: Engage in calming activities like meditation, deep breathing exercises, or gentle stretching before bed.

Magnesium Supplements: Magnesium helps to relax muscles and may support deeper sleep. Consult with a healthcare provider before introducing supplements.
3. Back Pain Relief: Effective Solutions for Comfort
Back pain is a common ailment that can significantly impact daily life. Whether it's caused by poor posture, an injury, or stress, addressing back pain is crucial for overall wellness. Here are some effective strategies for relieving back pain:
Stretching and Yoga: Gentle stretches and yoga poses can help alleviate muscle tension and improve flexibility. Focus on stretches that target the lower back and core muscles.
Proper Ergonomics: Ensure that your workstation is set up correctly. Your chair should support your lower back, and your computer screen should be at eye level to reduce strain.

Diaphragmatic Breathing: Focus on breathing deeply through your diaphragm (not shallow chest breaths). This promotes relaxation and reduces anxiety.
Practicing deep breathing exercises daily can help improve sleep, reduce stress, and enhance mental clarity.

Maybe you should have just pursued a course in creative writing... Or maybe culinary arts. Maybe something connected with baking. You love baking, right?
Maybe if you picked a college program based on your hobbies, you have better sleep. Maybe you are happier. At 11:51 PM, maybe you are already sleeping soundly on your bed, next to your emotional support stuffed toy, with your favorite weighted blanket on your exhausted being.
But you didn't. You can't.
So here you are, sitting in a swamp of written notes, books, and colorful post-its (that you haven't found any helpful use yet), having a crisis over your career choices.
"You want this, YN." you remind yourself, shaking your head.
Your digital clock on your study desk just ticked the time to 11:52 PM. It has been almost three hours since you began your planned all-nighter for tomorrow's exam.
"I want to cry." you sighed, your forehead softly hitting your desk. "But I don't have the time for that."
Groaning, you opened one of the textbooks you borrowed from the library. You tried to process every word you came across. But considering that you went straight from your eight-hour shift from your part-time job, you only managed to comprehend half of the sentences you read.
"I wish I was born as a nepo-baby."
Another random thought rolled off your tongue instead of understanding where the hell the spine of the scapula is. Admittedly, you find it hard to locate the muscles in the human body when you only have a 2D version of it. But you don't have those 3D models that can help you to learn and remember better, so you will settle for pointing your index fingers at flat images on the book pages.
"Trapezius... Acromion... Deltoid..."
Reciting the muscles in the familiar tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star", you began pointing to certain areas of your body. It was one of the studying techniques you have been using since you were younger. So far, it's helping. You keep doing it for the other parts.
"Subscapularis..."
But the longer you sang, the words slowly rambled in your tongue and your eyelids got heavier. You were so close to drifting away until you heard the familiar click of your door. Your head snapped up instantly. You hear his voice greeting your roommate who's probably watching her favorite show in the living room.
"Pizza and ice cream. Want some?" you heard him offer.
He brought food?! Of course, he did. He's Jungkook. For the first time since you sat in front of your study desk, a smile formed on your lips. Shaking your head, you just read your notes again. It didn't take long for your bedroom door to open. The scent of a freshly baked pizza filled every corner of your room. And there, you see him coming in with a smile on his pierced lips.
"Oh, hello, gorgeous."
Jungkook was surprised to see you already looking at him when he entered your room. Usually, he would find your nose dipped between your textbooks when he visits during your study sessions.
You rolled your eyes at the nickname, "I know, I looked like a mess right now. Just give me my prized pizza and ice cream please."
He laughed, not because he agreed with you, but because you are always quick to turn down his micro-flirting. He sometimes thinks that it keeps him grounded.
"And you got the coffee ones! This is why you're my favorite hookup buddy." you quipped before kissing his cheek, elated by the ice cream he got you.
"I'm honored. Thank you." he replied, before getting a slice of pizza.
Both of you know that you don't have any other hookup buddy. You're not that adventurous. It's just something you joke about.
"How's the studying going?" he asked before sitting on your bed.
"Shit." you shake your head, tired. "But this ice cream makes me feel a little better."
Jungkook smiled at that. He listened as you went on telling him about something that happened in your shift earlier today. But he ended up studying you. Because contrary to what you said earlier, you are too pretty, he finds it distracting. You were tired, it's written on your face. But the way your eyes light up as you share your story makes your face glow. With your desk lamp being the only light in your room, it perfectly highlights the small smile on your lips after you take another spoonful of the cold dessert.
"Why did you come here anyway?"
Your sudden question snaps Jungkook out of his daze. He cleared his throat.
"I-I'm bored and you're up."
He was not bored. In fact, he missed a party he was invited to tonight because it has been four days since he last saw you. He was busy with his training and practice, while you were working two jobs and studying. You two were just texting each other these days and with how rare you reply during the daytime, he knew that tonight is probably the best time to see you.
You sigh, "I told you, I'm studying for tomorrow. I can't do anything with you right now."
"And I didn't say we have to do anything. I'm just happy to be here. I'm like little Bear right there." he replied, pointing to your stuffed toy who was sitting next to him.
"Okay, I'll go back to studying. Is that okay?" you asked, putting on the lid of your half-finished ice cream.
He winked, "Of course."
Tumblr media
Jungkook is that person you probably know for too long. Like, someone you should have met only once or twice or occasionally. Not like this, in which you see each other almost every day.
When Liz, your roommate, introduced you two to each other during some Halloween party, in which you came as Dorothy from The Wizards of Oz and he was Peter Pan, you did not expect to start any kind of connection with him. You remembered thinking to yourself how exhausting it was to have him around with how he seemed so full of energy, not knowing then that he also enjoyed the same little things you did. You two became real friends after bumping into one another in a record store an hour away from your uni.
Because you feel that you two always stood on opposite ends of any scale. You were a reserved working student with introverted tendencies while on the opposite, Jungkook is a known varsity star, who's rumored to be a CEO's son (He is. He admitted it to you), on campus with a charm that works for everyone.  Just like how great he is at playing basketball, he is equally good at socializing and making new connections. That charm definitely worked for you a year ago because one thing led to another and now, he is in your bed, casually scrolling on his phone.
"Why do you have a camera with you?" you broke the silence after reading for god knows how long. Yet, you are unsure if you picked up anything from it.
He looked up, reaching for the camera bag he brought with him earlier, "It's a new one, my dad brought it to me as a gift."
"For what? Your birthday was like three months ago," you asked even though you already had an answer in your head.
"I helped him with some documents," he replied, knowing that you would say something after.
"Spoiled." you teased him.
"Haters gonna hate," he responded with a sassy roll of his eyes, you laughed. "Anyway, I'm kinda testing it out. So, if you don't mind..."
He placed the camera in front of him, aligning its viewfinder to his left eye. You put the back of your hand under your chin with a tight smile on your lips, posing. Click. A shutter sound and a bright flash followed. You see Jungkook look down at his camera to check the outcome. A small smile forms on his lips.
"You have too many pictures of me," you told him.
Every single time you two are together, he takes a picture of you. You don't really mind even though some shots are candid. Some of the pictures of you he took are the only ones you have on your Instagram. He's good at it, but sometimes, you worry you will get used to being his muse.
"I'm thinking of making an exhibition out of it." he said.
Sensing his sarcasm, you ride on with it, "Yeah, you can title it with something like, The Life Of An Overworked Twenty-Something Student. I looked exhausted in all those photos. An ugly, dry potato."
"I think you look pretty in all of them."
And it didn't help that he complimented you a lot after taking pictures of you. It just scares you that you feel a light feeling in your stomach when you see him smile after taking a shot of you or when he calls you gorgeous or pretty.
But instead of letting the giddy feeling show, you just smiled, "Of course you do, you're sleeping with me. You will always find me attractive."
Tumblr media
It was almost an hour later when Jungkook paused the video he was watching on his phone to once again try his camera. A camera nerd, he was watching a clip about his new camera's settings. Of course, he was in his earphones so that he wouldn't get to distract you.
After modifying some parts of the settings, Jungkook placed his camera in front of his right eye, ready to capture another picture of you. But before he could click the button, he noticed your shoulders shaking.
His right eyebrow raised as he slowly put down his camera.
"YN?"
He heard you hiccup before humming, "Hmm?"
"YN, can you look at me?" he asked since you kept your back turned to him.
"Not now, I'm busy." you sobbed, failing to hide from Jungkook.
He frowned, getting up from your bed, "YN, baby..."
"No, I said-"
Before you could continue denying, Jungkook already pulled the swivel chair you were sitting on closer to him. You covered your face with your palms since you hated crying in front of anyone. Jungkook tries to remove it softly but you shake your head.
"Please, let me see your face. It's okay," he whispered while his thumbs drew circles at the back of your hands. Finally, you listened and let him hold down your hands.
"Shh..." he hushed you, wiping the tears on your cheeks. "What's going on? Are you okay? Is there any way that I can help you?"
"I-I cannot remember anything and I'm just so tired." you broke down, feeling the exhaustion from both studying and working finally creeping up in your body.
"Then, take a break. Let's nap." he offered, knowing how much you need it.
You cried even more, "I can't nap. My exams are tomorrow and I can't understand anything I've been reading so far."
He clicked his tongue in disagreement, "I'll wake you up in thirty minutes. How about that?"
While his offer seemed ideal for you, the pressure for what is coming tomorrow is heavily sitting on your shoulders. But you're really tired.
"Just nap?" you asked, making sure that it won't lead to anything else.
"Yeah— Okay, maybe cuddle." he shrugged.
"Okay." I kinda need that.
"Okay. C'mere, my snotty baby." He cooed.
You glared at him before slapping his chest. He laughed, catching your hand and pulling you to him on your bed. You fell on top instead of your mattress, feeling his toned body under you. His chin rests on the top of your head as he draws circles on your lower back.
"Let's do anything you want after your exams," he mumbled.
You exhaled, "Why celebrate? I am not even sure if I can pass it."
"You will. You're the smartest person I know."
This isn't the first time Jungkook saw you broke down over academic reasons. He knew how much you value your studies as someone who has always been an achiever since you began studying. It didn't help that your mom expects quite a lot from you, based on what you told him.
You looked up to meet his eyes, "Thank you."
He simply kissed your forehead, "Of course, babe."
Tumblr media
You did find yourself feeling much better after your 30-minute rest. But, you also found something else when you woke five minutes ago next to Jungkook. It's something that can probably help you study.
"Take off your shirt," you whispered as you rested your head on his arm.
"Why?" he asked, suspicious.
"I think you can help me study," you said, sitting up on the bed.
Jungkook sat next to you, "I thought we were just cuddling."
"Jungkook." you called him. "Please, just do it."
"Okay, I will. You know I can't say no when you beg, babe." he teased.
You watched him reach for the back of his shirt and remove it over his head. With how cold your room is, Jungkook immediately crossed his arms over his chest, making his muscles bulge before you. You were quiet, squinting your eyes on his arms.
Feeling a little conscious and confused, Jungkook spoke, "It's a little chilly here. What now?"
"Wait, let me get my sticky notes."
Tumblr media
"You know, I should be paid for this," Jungkook spoke, covered in neon-colored sticky notes from his neck to his back and arms. "I am like your model."
"You are my 3d model." you laughed while tracing his body with your finger to look where you could stick your next label. "I'm too broke to buy one so just be my friend and let me put some sticky notes on you."
"I'll just buy you one." he offered and he's serious. If it's something that can help you, he'll buy it for you.
"You sound like the spoiled kid you are." you joked.
"I like it when you keep me humble and grounded," he reacted sarcastically. Out of a hundred people he knows on the campus, you are the only one who always reminds him of his privileges. He found it annoying at first but now, he just finds it funny.
"I know, it shows especially when you get all submissive sometimes." you joked again, scrunching your nose at him.
"Why won't you just let me spend money on you?" he asked, recalling the other scenarios he tried buying or doing something for you. But you were quick to decline him, especially if it's connected with money.
You stopped and stared at him, "For the tenth time, Jeon, I will not be your sugar baby."
"Or you can just be my... baby," he whispered, but since you are the only awake people in this house at this time of the day, you still heard that.
Your eyebrows scrunched, looking at him. Visibly cringing at what he said, you pushed his face with a laugh. You hear him chuckle lowly.
"If you want someone to be your baby, you should be asking girls out, not signing up for a friends-with-benefits-type of relationship with me," you mumbled while writing a certain body part on your notepad.
It is part of your agreement that this thing you two have will end once one of you starts dating again. But the idea of him asking girls out after literally sleeping on your bed for the last twelve months still made your heart sink a little. You cannot imagine how your future will be without him, you still haven't thought that far.
"I know..." he whispered. But you're not up for any commitment. He wanted to say that. Instead, he replied, "But you give the best blowjob ever. How can I look for someone else?"
You laughed again. God, he loves making you laugh. It's like a melody playing in his head.
"Yeah, I know. It will be hard to find someone better than me. I'm the best."
Yes, you are. He agreed, almost saying it if you haven't spoke to soon.
"Now, please, can you stop moving? My notes are falling everywhere."
Tumblr media
"Hi, I'm Mabel."
It's been days since that night. Now, a blonde, blue-eyed girl offered her hand to Jungkook while he prepared to leave the campus with his car after his basketball training. Jungkook, being polite, introduced himself even though he was not really interested. He continued making sure he got all his stuff in his backpack as the girl continued saying that they had two classes together. When he was done checking, she spoke,
"I think you're really cute and was wondering if we could go out sometime? Maybe we can grab some coffee together?"
Jungkook scratched the back of his head, feeling bad for what he was about to say to this seeming freshman before him. A tight smile forms on his lips. This isn't the first confession he got in his lifetime, but rejecting someone is always hard.
"Wow... uhm... I'm sure you're a really wonderful person, Mabel. But I'm not really interested in dating anyone right now. I'm sorry."
The familiar flustered face instantly showed up on Mabel's face, "Oh, okay. Uhm, thank you for your time. Nice to meet you though."
Jungkook was not even able to reply before she ran away. It didn't took him too long to dwell on that interaction when he got a message from you.
YN 🩺
I PASSED
COME OVER!!!!1!
Jungkook smiled after reading that, feeling your relief and excitement. He typed in a reply before hopping in his car.

“Where’s Sylus?”
The temperamental crow looked at you with one glowing red eye, beak turned away coyly. You have to wonder what kind of programming went into making him have so much attitude. It’d probably go right over your head, anyway.
“Wanna make a deal?” You keep an eye on Mephisto as you reach into your pocket, rooting around until cold metal touches your fingers. You lift the shiny metal nut like a prize. “Hm? A nice shiny trinket for you if you show me where Sylus is? What d’ya say?”
His metal wings fluttered at his side, feet stepping unsurely on his perch. But all crows are alike, mechanical or otherwise. He swoops down and snatches the metal from your fingers. You feel the brush of talons, barely escaping having your hand sliced up by an overeager metal chicken.
His caw sounds like a laugh as he leads you down the many halls of the mansion. When he stops to wait for you to catch up, he croons at his shiny new knickknack, pecking at it and staring at it from every angle with his red eyes. He glides through the open crack of a door.
You peek in first. It’s a study, with shelves lined with old paper books and vinyls. There’s a desk with guns neatly laid out on top. Mephisto perches on the accompanying chair. And on the couch, head tilted back and eyes closed, is Sylus.
You wonder if he’s really asleep this time. He’s tricked you before, but as you listen closely you hear the soft snores giving him away.
How cute, you think. A little midnight nap.
The door doesn’t make a sound as you push it open enough to slip inside. You don’t close it back all the way, and Mephisto’s wings nearly clip your head as he flies back outside of the room. That damn bird will always have it out for you, you’re sure of it.
You creep along the elegant carpet to your target, slowly lowering yourself to sit on the other end of the couch. As much as you love messing with Sylus, you didn’t actually want to wake him up now. So, being very careful, you lay down and rest your head in his lap.
“If you want to cuddle, you don’t need to sneak around for it.”
You smack his chest. “You’re such an asshole!” Your heart was racing from the scare, but you don’t get up from your new position. Sylus rewards you by beginning to comb his fingers through your hair. “Were you actually sleeping?”
He hums. There’s a gravel to his voice you didn’t notice before. “Yes, I was.” He finally lifts his head from the back of the couch to look down at you. “Until someone gave Mephisto a shiny new item for his collection.”
You chuckle despite the unimpressed look on his face. “He told on me again?”
“You’re all he seems to talk about these days,” he sighs. He brushes some hair away from your forehead. “At least it’s positive, this time.
“Did you need something from me?”
“Not really. I was just… lonely.”
He smiles slightly. “Well, I’m always happy to keep you company, sweetie.”
It’s easy to doze while he plays with your hair. He seems to know all the right spots, all the right techniques to ease your troubles away. In his care, your hair doesn’t tangle or get caught. It’s heaven.
-
When you wake up, you’re exactly where you were. Sylus’s lap was warm under you, and you wondered if his legs fell asleep at any point during your nap. If they did, he’d suffered through it for your sake.
His hand was nearly still in your hair now. It didn’t move in those perfect ministrations as before. Instead, it was almost completely still, moving at a snail’s pace along the crown of your head. You blink your eyes open to figure out why, maybe even pout and whine about it just to annoy him, but you can’t stop from just staring.
If he notices you’re awake or watching him, he doesn’t say anything. His thumb scrolls through his phone, probably looking at the latest underground news on shady deals or skimming over messages from desperate people wanting to deal with him. Something that drew his attention away from you, at least.
So you take your time drinking him in.
He’s pretty, there’s no arguments there, but it’s his own kind of pretty. It’s sharp and multifaceted, like a crystal. His eyes are intense, lashes so dark and thick it looks like he’s wearing makeup. You wonder if he does. He’d look even more gorgeous with dark red eyeshadow and sharp cat eyeliner. His lips are pressed into a thin line, soft pink drawing your eyes to them. You quickly turn your attention to the slope of his nose before he catches you.
With a sigh, Sylus closes his phone and sets it aside. His hand in your hair goes back to a normal speed, his fingers scratching at the nape of your neck as he finally looks down at you, And just like that, all that sharp beauty is replaced.
Instead of his usual intense gaze, his eyes are soft around the edges, just a little bit wider, relaxed. His lips quirk up slightly at the sight of you, softening his cheekbones. He tilts his head playfully, eyebrows raising as though asking if you’re enjoying the view.
“Puppy.”
He blinks, and it’s gone. His brow furrows, his lips dropping into a frown, eyes sharpened with suspicion. “What?”
You smirk. It’s rare to feel like you have the upper hand. You reach up and touch his cheek. He leans into it, though his expression remains.
“Sometimes you get this look on your face,” you tell him. Your thumb runs under his eye. “It makes you look soft, like a little puppy.”
He scoffs, but his lips quirk up again. “Just how long have you been waiting to use that on me?”
You hum, running your fingers down his cheekbone to his jaw. “Since I asked you to join me while I study a few days ago.” You traced the sharp cut of his jawline, tracking the movement with your eyes. “I looked up for a minute, and you were looking at me like I’d just promised to scratch you behind the ears.” To emphasize your point, you reach to do just that.
He catches your hand before you can, thumb pressed to your palm to keep your hand open. He brings your fingers to his lips, eyes watching you intently as he bites down on them, one at a time, nipping at the tips and knuckles with a smirk. “Careful, kitten,” he warns. He bites at the soft skin on the back of your hand. “This puppy bites.”

Human 101: Cooking
pairing: rk800 connor x reader
words: 2.1 k
warnings: language, self-deprecating humour, lack of proofreading, fic from reader's pov
summary: human 101 with (y/n) and Connor, a crash course on the basics of humanity, brought to you by sumo and a very sleep-deprived writer (comedy, fluff)
additional context: reader has a rampant crush on Connor, as established in Short Circuit, this could be treated as a sequel in spirit or just a standalone.
a/n: thanks for all the love for my previous fic, here's another one <3
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unlike other deviants, Connor took his time to come to terms with his deviancy. Imagine you live your entire life (even if your whole life was barely a couple weeks) thinking your only purpose was to, say, hunt dogs. What would you do if you woke up one day to find you were the dog all along? This feels like a bad analogy. You get the point.
That kind of revelation would definitely come with its own baggage. I mean, I can't even begin to imagine what it must've been like. So even if Connor has finally made his peace with being a deviant, I have made it my life's mission to help him experience the highs and lows of being fully human. Call it Human 101.
Lesson one? Cooking. Sure "Love makes us human" Yeah okay but if you really think about it, it is cooking. Literally no other species cooks. Everyone fucks. Go figure.
"Cooking is fundamental," I told him, as we stood in my kitchen. "It’s like… the ultimate human bonding experience. Families, friends, lovers-" I stopped myself there, flustered, oops, but he didn’t seem to notice. "It’s about creating something from scratch, with your hands. Plus, we get to eat it after. Win-win."
"I should inform you that I already have access to an extensive database of recipes and culinary techniques. If required, I can prepare any dish with precise measurements and optimal timing. There is a less than one percent chance of error."
"Oh, no no," I laughed. "We can't follow recipes, God, no. Cooking is about spontaneity. About chaos. Screwing up is where the fun is."
His head tilted slightly, LED blinking yellow as though he were processing my statement. "You believe the experience is improved by the possibility of failure?"
"Absolutely!" I said, grabbing a whisk from the counter. "It's not just about the taste, you know? You need to spill flour everywhere, accidentally burn the sauce, or switch salt with sugar. That's the human way. You mess up, you laugh about it, and sometimes you end up making something even better than you planned."
Connor stared at me for a long moment, as though trying to reconcile my argument with his programming. "This is… counterintuitive. But intriguing."
"Exactly!" I said, pointing the whisk at him like I’d just solved world hunger. "Now, step one: forget the database. No looking up recipes. We’re winging it."
He blinked at me. "Winging it?"
"Yes. We’re going to use whatever’s in the fridge and figure it out as we go. Trust me, it’ll be great."
He looked at me like there was a loading screen inside his head. "Statistically, this approach has a higher likelihood of failure. That is... good?"
"Exactly." I grinned, tossing him an apron. "Let's get cooking, Wall-E."
Connor caught the apron mid-air, holding it up like it was a wet sock. "Is this truly necessary for the process?"
"Oh yeah, big time," I said, tying my own around my waist. "It’s part of the uniform. Cooking without an apron is like... running a mission without a plan."
That got a faint quirk of his lips. "I wasn’t aware cooking was so strategic."
"It’s not," I said, pulling open the fridge and gesturing dramatically. "It’s pure chaos. Okay, what do we have?"
Connor peered inside with the precision of someone scanning a battlefield. It may as well have been, honestly. "Tomatoes, cheese, leftover chicken, and... two peppers approximately three days past their optimal freshness." No, I am not embarrassed about how I ration. Okay fine, a little bit.
"Perfect. We’re making pizza."
He straightened slightly, tilting his head at me. "A pizza is typically constructed using dough as a base. There is no dough present."
"There will be if we make it from scratch. Flour, water, some yeast if I remembered to buy it... probably. Easy."
As I started rummaging through the pantry, Connor stayed rooted in place, watching me like he was making notes like I'd be quizzing him on pantry rummaging etiquette later. When I turned around, a bag of flour in hand, I caught him staring.
"What?"
"I was considering how often you engage in these… unpredictable approaches. It’s unconventional. Yet, it appears to bring you joy."
I paused, caught off-guard by how earnestly he’d said it. "Yeah, I guess it does. Life’s too short to stress about being perfect all the time, you know?"
Connor seemed to mull that over, but instead of replying, he reached for the bag of flour. "Allow me. The chances of you spilling that are statistically high."
"Oh, wow, thanks for the vote of confidence," I said, rolling my eyes.
He smiled then- an actual, honest-to-goodness smile that made my stomach do a weird little flip.
We started working on the dough together. Well, I started working on the dough, he was fighting demons. It was hilarious. It was like the dough owed him money.
"Dude, dude, relax. The dough isn't your enemy. You're not interrogating the dough. You need to be gentle with it. We like the dough. The dough is our friend."
"The same way Hank is our friend?"
"Hank is dough, yes."
"Well, Hank is not responding well to my kneading."
Wait. A joke? Was that a joke? Holy shit.
I blinked at him, eyebrows shooting up. “Did you just…?”
His lips twitched, though it was still subtle. “I’m capable of humor when required.” I nudged him lightly with my elbow, the warmth of the moment sinking in. He gave the dough another half-hearted punch, then added, “I don't understand why Dough Hank isn't cooperating.”
“Well, firstly, stop punching it like it owes you money. You have to be gentle. Dough requires finesse.”
He tilted his head, his LED spinning in thought. “Finesse,” he repeated, his hands hesitating awkwardly above the dough.
His struggling with the dough was honestly the most adorable thing I have ever seen. He was trying, he really was, but his confusion from the dough not reciprocating for all his efforts and him not being able to wrap his head around it made for a hilarious staring contest between Dough Hank and Connor. He held it up and stared at it closely, possibly with malicious intent.
Earth to (Y/n), I stepped closer until I was pressed lightly against his side. “Here, let me show you.” Sliding my hands over his, I guided his movements, pressing gently into the dough, folding and rolling it in a smooth rhythm. “See? You’re not fighting it. You’re working with it.”
Connor followed my lead, his hands relaxing under mine. His head dipped slightly, and when I glanced up, I realized he was watching me instead of the dough. I was hyperaware of the fact that I was so close to him and was very sure he could figure out just how nervous I was feeling.
“So, we negotiate with the dough,” he murmured, his voice quieter, almost teasing now.
“Exactly,” I said, laughing softly. “Negotiation is key. Be nice, and it’ll be nice back.”
I watched him start over with dough Hank, this time, more gently. Like he was getting the hang of it. "I think I’m starting to understand," he murmured.
I raised an eyebrow. “Understand what?”
"What being human is about," he said quietly, his voice almost contemplative. “It’s about embracing it. The mess, the failure, the laughter. The joy of not being perfect. I quite like the idea of not having to be perfect all the time."
In all honesty, I was not sure how to respond to that. He looked like a huge burden had been lifted off his shoulders like someone had just told him it was okay to breathe for the first time. And, for a moment, I almost didn’t want to ruin it.
His LED flickered a soft yellow, his eyes- those damn calm eyes- finally looking a little less... distant. It felt like I was staring at the kind of person you’d want to confide in, the kind who’d get it.
I bit my lip, trying not to smile. “You okay there, Connor?”
He glanced up, that soft smile still hanging on his lips. “I believe so,” he said, voice uncharacteristically light. “I think I’m finally making progress. With understanding humanity. And dough Hank.”
I snorted, quickly covering my mouth to hide the laugh. "Well, dough Hank was a tough nut to crack, but you did it, so good job."
He smiled, like he was proud of himself, and looked so damn cute. I shook myself out of my thoughts and grabbed the rolling pin, ready to get back to work. "Alright, now that we’ve figured out how to negotiate with dough, let’s make this pizza. We’re going all in."
Connor, still looking oddly content, glanced at the ingredients on the counter. "I assume we’ll be using the tomatoes, cheese, and chicken? I’ve been considering possible toppings. The peppers are not ideal."
"Connor, I have no regard for my safety and you don't have a digestive system. I think we'll be fine."
"Suit yourself, (Y/n)." Again. That damn lilt in his voice when he says my name. It's like he knows what it's doing to me. Asshole.
After about 20 minutes, Dough Hank had fully become Pizza Hank and it was finally time.
"Alright, Baymax. Moment of Truth."
"I must ask. What is with the various robot nicknames? Are they terms of endearment?"
"Sure, let's go with that."
"Noted. In that case, it only seems appropriate to assign you one in return... Sugar?"
"Oh wow, no. God, just, no."
"Sport?"
"Nope."
"Champ?"
"Worse!"
"I'm bad at this, aren't I?"
"Baby steps, C3PO."
I liked this. Banter, his company, this... the whole thing. Whatever it can be called. Watching him discover things I have known my entire life is such an enthralling experience. It's like that one revelation you have when you're like 7 or 8 when you realize that you are alive TM. Except this time, you're watching someone else have it. I don't know if any of this makes sense, but what I do know is that I don't want this to end any time soon.
"Wow, this is disgusting."
Pizza Hank was a pile of dog shit. It was like a troll and an ogre had a baby on my tongue. No self-respecting person would put that in their mouth a second time. My mouth hates me for this.
"I thought failure was welcome. Is it not?"
"Yeah, but this is straight-up nuclear, my guy. I wouldn't eat this if someone paid me money."
"Well, while I cannot taste food the way humans do, I am able to simulate the experience of tasting by analyzing the composition of the food. I could describe it to you if you would like."
"Really? What do you think?" he picked up a slice and confidently took a bite out of it.
"Yeah, this is awful."
I put my hands up in resignation. Cooking was a disaster. I am useless and do not deserve nice things. Pain is eternal and hell beckons.
"I'm sorry for wasting your time, this is all my fault."
"Failure, as you pointed out, is part of the process. And it wasn’t a waste of time."
I groaned, dropping onto a stool and burying my face in my hands. "It’s not even edible. We can’t exactly bond over a pile of inedible sludge."
“I don’t think the goal here was actually to cook something edible, was it? From what I understand, it was about experiencing the act of cooking- and bonding with each other. By that measure, I believe we have succeeded.”
I was caught off guard. He thought we "successfully bonded". Please excuse me while I pass away.
"You really think so?"
He nodded while smiling at me reassuringly while putting the mangled remains of pizza Hank back on the plate. "Besides, per my observation, your shift in mood could be a result of hunger."
"Yeah, I haven't eaten anything all day, have I?"
"Not to my knowledge."
"You wanna get good pizza and go to Real Hank's place?"
"I would love to. I have been meaning to see Sumo."
cut-scene from the car ride <3
"I just assumed the pizza would be edible. You know? I can call it optimism all I want but that's just a lack of planning."
"Is lack of planning an inherent human trait?"
"Oh, Yeah. Top of the list, actually."
a/n: now I liked Short Circuit more but here's part 2 <3 also yes I took the cooking makes us human bit from another popular tumblr post, i just thought it was hilarious

Nico Hischier x fem!reader
summary: reader is terrified of storms, but Nico makes sure she never has to brave them alone
notes: hi!! long time no see! this is a little self indulgent, not gonna lie. i started this last week when some pretty gnarly storms were coming through my town and i struggled finishing it because, surprise, i was scared 🫣. anyways, i hope you enjoy!! happy reading!! 🫶🏼
[3.3k]
~
Storms have never been something that you enjoyed. You don’t understand the appeal of the angry rumbles and blinding flashes that litter the sky during a thunderstorm.
Ever since you were a little girl storms have been high on your fear list. Anytime you saw the purplish-gray of the sky, you were doing everything in your power to drown out the incoming storm.
Much like you were right now. You had just turned a movie on in the living room, volume high enough that you worried your upstairs neighbors could hear. Every curtain in the apartment was drawn closed, preventing you from seeing any flash of lightning that would dance across the dark sky.
Your last line of defense was usually white noise being played through a speaker on low volume to further try and drown out the rumbles that are starting to sound closer by the second. Well, it will be your last line of defense, if you could just find the wireless speaker.
It wasn’t in its normal spot in the kitchen junk drawer, nor was it in the bathroom. It wasn’t in your boyfriend’s practice bag, knowing he sometimes takes it to the rink with him when he hits the gym after a morning skate.
You had looked in both your bedroom and the spare room, the guest bathroom, the hallway closet, the various shelves around the living room, in-between the couch cushions, and you had even braved stepping out onto your small balcony to search for it before rushing back inside after a particularly bright flash of lightning.
It was nowhere to be found.
While you were on all fours on the floor trying to see if it had somehow rolled under the couch, you heard the familiar chime of your ringtone coming from the table behind you, startling you a bit.
Seeing your boyfriend’s name flash on the screen, you pick up the phone immediately, speaking a small hello into the device just as an especially loud crack of thunder rings out.
“Hey, Schatz. You okay? Just heard the storm outside, knew you were home alone and wanted to check on you during intermission. Got all of your safety nets in place?” Nico’s worried voice hurries out, slightly out of breath.
The Devils were hosting a charity scrimmage tonight, the proceeds going to a local youth hockey program. Nico had offered for you to come and watch, but you had been wanting to catch up on the reality shows he always complained about watching with you. When he left a few hours earlier, the sky was blue and there were no clouds to be seen.
You didn’t regret your decision until thirty minutes ago when your phone started blaring an alarm with a severe storm warning alert.
“Yeah, I’m okay for right now. Have a movie on and the curtains are closed. I can’t find the speaker, though. Do you remember where you last saw it?” you ask him, placing the phone on speaker so you can continue to search.
“Oh Schatz, I’m so sorry,” Nico starts, regret joining the worry in his tone. “I have the speaker with me. Put it in my game bag this morning. Went and got a few reps in the gym in before warm-ups today. I didn’t look at the forecast before I left, I didn’t know you’d need it.”
Your stomach drops at his confession, your anxiety spiking. You needed the speaker in order to fully drown out the thunder. It was something you and your mom had come up with when you were a kid to help you sleep if it was storming at night. You hadn’t tried to get through a storm without the technique since.
“It’s…it’s okay, Neeks. Really. I’ll be fine,” you start, trying to hide the anxious quiver of your voice. “It’s just a little-“ your sentence gets interrupted by a boom of thunder so loud you could feel the vibrations from the floor you were currently kneeled on.
Nico’s guilt only increases at the yelp you let out, his heart breaking further when he hears the whimper you tried to hide afterwards.
“Y/N are you sure you’re okay? I can try to see if Nicole can come over for a bit? Jesper said she stayed home, too. Or I can send someone to come get you and bring you here if you want?” he offers, hating the fact you’re in the apartment alone.
“No, it’s okay. It’ll probably be over by then, anyways, right?” you ask, needing the reassurance that it was only a short storm.
“Yeah, baby, I’m sure it’s almost over. Just turn the tv up and grab your weighted blanket. I’ll be home as soon as I can, okay?”
“Okay,” you squeak out, another low rumble coming from the world outside.
“I love you, okay? I’ll call again to check on you next intermission. Be home before you know it, Schatz.”
“Love you too, Neeks. Play safe,” you tell him before hanging up the phone.
You take his advice and find the weighted blanket he bought you last year after a particularly nasty storm had come through when he was away on a roadie.
He read online that the pressure could help comfort people during anxiety inducing moments, so he had one delivered to your shared apartment the next day. You were extremely thankful for it, especially in moments like this, but nothing can replace having Nico here with you to comfort you during an especially rough storm.
You were trying really hard to focus on the movie, having raised the volume even more to supplement the loss of the noise from the speaker, but the noises from the storm outside only got louder and louder.
You could hear the wind whipping around the tall building you were in, adding a whole new layer to your current distress. Checking your phone constantly, you knew it was still only a severe storm, no further warnings had been issued, but you were starting to get worried the bad weather was here to stay.
Resorting to laying on the couch with eyes closed and hands over your ears to muffle the sounds, your fear had reached its peak. You felt embarrassed, wondering why you couldn’t just find comfort in the harsh weather like a normal person. Instead, you were laying on your couch in a fetal position with your hands covering your ears as a grown woman.
Another intense crack infiltrated your apartment, causing your shaking body to jump, eyes snapping open. Just as you were able to calm your racing heart, you were suddenly covered in darkness.
It felt like someone had just dumped ice water all over your body, every nerve alert with fear. You sat completely still, waiting for the warm lights to flicker back on.
The longer you sat waiting, the worse you felt.
There was no way you could survive this storm with no power. There was nothing to block out the wind and thunder. There was nothing to lessen the bright flashes of light through the curtains. You were so paralyzed by fear you couldn’t even make the short trek to the kitchen to grab a flashlight or light the various candles littered throughout the apartment.
While debating with yourself about if you were going to be brave enough to get up off the couch and walk through the dark apartment, you heard the lock on your front door unlock with a click.
Every movement in your body stopped, including the rise and fall of your chest. You held your breath and sat as still as you could, more petrified with fear than you had ever been before.
Who was coming into your apartment in the middle of a storm like this? The only other people with keys were Nico and your landlord. One of those people was in the middle of a hockey game twenty minutes away.
A new wave of fear washed over you. What if it was your landlord coming in because he had to evacuate the building? Was the storm that bad? It sounded that bad, but you were always a terrible judge at what classified a storm as bad.
Any storm was bad to you. The slightest rumble of thunder had you wanting to dive under the nearest table like a child.
The door creaked open, squeaky footsteps making their way into your apartment. You continued to lay there, unmoving.
“Schatz? You in here?” you heard a familiar accent call out, all tension in your body disappearing at the sound.
Your body springs up into a sitting position, turning your head to look behind the couch, the sight in front of you almost causing relieved tears to well in your eyes.
Nico stood by the closed door, hanging his dripping jacket on one of the many hooks on the wall in front of him. His soaking wet hair was adding to the puddle on the floor left by his jacket.
He was wearing a pair of athletic shorts and one of his Devils hoodies, the latter only slightly drier than the jacket he had just removed.
He shook out his hair, making you bite back a giggle at how he resembled a dog shaking out its fur, before looking up and seeing your alert eyes peeking over the couch at him.
“Oh, Schatz, are you okay?” he sighed as he made his way over to you.
His socks audibly squished as he rounded the end of the couch, coming to crouch before you.
He took your hands in his own, making you flinch at how cold they were.
Bringing his lips down to blow onto your intertwined hands, he mumbles out a “M’sorry, I wasn’t here, pretty girl.”
You meet his eyes through his wet eyelashes, admiring how pretty he looks right now, brain still catching up to the fact he’s here.
Staring at him while he warms his hands with your own, you remember that he was supposed to still be at the charity game right now, having only called you at the beginning of the first intermission not even thirty minutes ago.
As soon as you open your mouth to question him, you were reminded of the reason for your current state.
A blinding flash of light illuminates the dark apartment, thunder rumbling almost immediately after.
Slamming your eyes shut to try to block the sight, you try to move your hands to your ears once again, but they’re still clutched between both of Nico’s.
You feel the couch next to you sink underneath his body weight, his arms moving to come around your shoulders as he hugs your body into his.
His hand moves up and down your arm in a soothing motion, a small “shhh” coming out of his mouth as his lips rest against your temple.
“You’re safe, darling. You’re alright. I’m here,” he says softly on repeat, working you through the moment of panic.
You allow your body to sink into his, reveling in the comfort that his presence brings you.
“That’s it, just relax. I’m not going to let anything happen to you, alright?”
After several minutes of relishing Nico’s presence, you finally lean back and put a small amount of distance between the two of you.
He moves his hands to smooth down your hair and cup your face, tilting your head up so he can look into your eyes and make sure you’re okay.
As you give him a small smile, he leans forward and places a kiss first on the tip of your nose and then moves his lips up to rest on your forehead.
He pulls back, leaving your face trapped in-between his hands, speaking softly.
“Power went out, didn’t it, Schatz?”
You simply nodded, finding it hard to speak with your cheeks squished.
He starts rubbing his thumbs back and forth on your cheeks, “Scared you when it went out, huh? That why you look so startled when I came in?”
You nodded again, starting to feel a little silly with the chipmunk cheeks he’s caused you to have.
“Well, let’s go fix that, shall we?” Nico finally removes his hands from your face, standing up and reaching his hand out to help you stand from the couch.
He leads you into the kitchen, stopping at the drawer that holds a lighter and flashlights for occasions like this one. He grabs two flashlights out of the drawer, turning one on and handing it to you.
Taking his own flashlight, he turns it on and immediately places it directly under his chin, pulling a face in the shadow of the light coming from the plastic.
His actions cause you to giggle, rolling your eyes at how childish your big, ‘scary’ hockey player can be.
“There she is. Knew I could get that cute little laugh out of you,” he beams, proud of his success.
He grabs the lighter and takes your hand once again, leading you around to every candle you have placed around the apartment. You hold the flashlights as he lights each candle until every last one is lit and the apartment is bathed in golden light once again.
The two of you end up back on the couch sharing your weighted blanket as Nico becomes your buffer to the storm outside. You sit with your head resting against his chest for a little while before you remembered that he wasn’t supposed to be here right now.
You raise your head up and sit back, situating yourself so you’re halfway facing him while still being tucked into his side.
“You’re not supposed to be here right now.”
Nico moves his head back and looks at you like you’re crazy.
“What?” he says through a chuckle, amused at how random you words were.
“I mean, you’re supposed to be at the charity game right now. You called me during the first intermission, you should be playing in the third period by now,” you explain your outburst.
Nico laughs, shaking his head. “For a second I got worried you were about to kick me out, Schatz.”
“Nico, I’m being serious,” you roll your eyes. “Why did you leave the game early? Is everything okay at the rink? Did the storm damage something?”
Nico looks over at you, a fond smile on his face.
“Have I told you how pretty you look today?” is all he says in response, bringing a finger up to stroke from your temple down to your chin.
You move your head away from his hand and scoff, annoyed at his avoidance.
“Nico…” you warn.
He sighs, knowing you’re not going to be happy with his answer.
“I left early.”
“You…left early?” you parrot his words back to him, unimpressed.
“Yes, I left early. I told them there was an emergency here and I needed to get home to you, so I left,” he explains, shrugging like it wasn’t a big deal. “It was just a charity game, anyways. We were playing against our own guys, not like it was anything they couldn’t do without me.”
You fully remove yourself from him and sit back on your heels. He frowns at the loss of contact as he readjusts himself to sit up straighter.
“Nico, you can’t just leave a game like that!” you scold him. “Think about how excited those kids were to see you play tonight. The fact that it was a charity game should have made it even more important.”
You cross your arms, glaring at him for how bad this could make him look.
“Y/N, you were here, alone, during a raging storm. When I called, I could feel how scared you were through the phone. I knew as soon as the lights flickered at the arena, I couldn’t leave you here by yourself,” he explained, his tone leaving no room for argument.
You argued anyways.
“Nico, think about how bad this could make you look. ‘Devils captain leaves charity game early because his girlfriend is a scaredy-cat and can’t stay by herself during a silly little thunderstorm’” you put on your best sportscaster voice for the last sentence.
It was Nico’s turn to roll his eyes at you, shaking his head at your words.
“First of all, don’t count on a job with ESPN anytime soon,” you swat at his chest. “Second of all, I appreciate your concern about my image and my job, but I don’t care.”
“You should! You should care, Nico. You’re the captain. You need to care more than anyone else,” you cry out at him.
Nico grabs your hands in midair as you wave them around to emphasize your words.
“Schatz, I. Don’t. Care.” He pauses, trying to let the words sink in. “You know why I don’t care? Because you will always come first, do you hear me?”
Your mouth snaps shut, the intensity of the way he’s looking at you making you still.
“My job is just a game. It will always be just a game. A game that I’m thankful that I get to play every day, don’t get me wrong, but at the end of every day, it’s just a game.” He pauses again, making sure you understand him.
You don’t even flinch at the thunder that rings out around you, too caught up in the moment that’s happening between you and Nico right now.
“You, my pretty girl, are not a game. You’re the absolute best thing that has ever, and will ever, happen to me. You’re the biggest priority in my life, not hockey. I could quit hockey tomorrow and be just fine as long as I still have you to come home to every day. You’re the one thing I can’t lose. So yeah, I don’t care if I’m missing a scrimmage right now. They don’t need me. You did. So, here I am, exactly where I’m ‘supposed to be’” he mocks your earlier statement.
By the end of his speech you have tears in your eyes, not because of the storm this time.
You smile at him, an emotional tear slipping down your cheek, Nico’s hand reach out to wipe it away before you could wiggle one of your own from his hold.
“I love you, you know that?” you tell him, leaning your cheek into his open palm. “But you’re still stupid for leaving the game early,” you add at the end.
“Love you more, Schatz. Always.” He responds with a slight chuckle, ignoring the second part of what you said, bringing your face to his.
Your lips meet in a sweet, loving kiss. You rest your foreheads against one another before Nico pulls back, dropping his hand from your face.
“Now, I do believe we have some powerless entertainment to partake in,” he tells you, wiggling his eyebrows at your suggestively.
You lean in towards him once again, cocking an eyebrow. “Oh yeah?”
“Oh…Yeah” he leans back in, his hot breath fanning on your face with his words.
You catch his arm moving out of the corner of your eye, not wanting to remove your gaze from his face to find out what he was doing.
The staring contest the two of you had going on was starting to make you squirm when you hear a click ring out from in-between your bodies, light erupting through what little space is there.
You look down to see one of the flashlights from earlier in his hand, a cheeky grin on his face. Looking back up, you give him a confused look.
“It’s time for shadow puppets!” he excitedly bursts, moving the flashlight to shine on the wall, holding up his pointer and middle fingers to make a shadow bunny on the wall.
You burst out into belly laughs, body falling over his, head landing in his lap.
“C’mon, now, get up, its your turn,” he sits you up, handing you the flashlight.
As you look over at Nico, an expectant look on his face, you suddenly don’t care if it storms all night and the power never comes back on. As long as Nico’s with you, nothing could ruin the happiness running through your veins in this moment.

Pas de Deux Chapter 5
Din Djarin x f!reader | 2.9k | fic masterlist | main masterlist | ao3
Tumblr media
chapter summary: It's time for the first mixed program of the spring schedule, and so it's finally time to see Din perform.
a/n: Thank you everyone for your lovely comments on the last chapter. Everything still feels pretty shitty but being part of this community does not! See my notes at the end and on the masterlist about reader in this fic and ballet in general. Thank you @katareyoudrilling for being the best beta, as always!!
chapter tags/warnings: gen, ballet terms (see end notes and the masterlist for definitions and videos), a bit more angst (sorry), but we also have fluff
Chapter 5
In stark contrast to that disaster of a rehearsal, your performance in the January program went well. The first night had its usual jitters, but even so, you felt proud of the performance you and the others put on. And Jee had been excited and full of praise, with only a couple of notes about the choreography, which made you more excited for the next performance.
On Friday, though, you had a small costume malfunction, and so you were busy getting stuck with pins and missed Din’s solo. You heard the music from La Bayadère start and cursed — you knew you wouldn’t be back in time.
On Saturday, you saw it. You saw him.
You were standing in the wings, huddled with Adrian and a small group of dancers when Din’s music began. Everyone backstage quieted as soon as the orchestra began. He was wearing a sort-of doublet and white tights that screamed classical ballet. He started in the wings just in front of you and you watched the line of his neck and back as he walked calmly onto the stage.
You knew Talia had chosen three of Solor’s variations from different versions of the ballet. She had Din moving off stage and back on to continue with the three solos that usually appeared at different moments throughout the long performance. Three demanding solos, all in a row.
The music swelled and Din swept his arm upward and, from his first movement, he stole your breath away. Your eyes followed the sheer height of his jumps, the beautiful lines of his extensions. You couldn’t help but marvel at the perfection of his technique, the absolute ease of his movements. You watched the flex of his muscles and wondered at his strength. He made everything look effortless. He had such control, but none of that showed — his face was calm, expression serene.
You tightened your hold on Adrian’s hand.
Din dipped into the wings and back out for the second variation, and you felt someone next to you suck in a sharp breath when Din launched himself into the air into a double saut de basque in attitude followed by a revoltade. How did he look so weightless?
Talia had been right — this was the perfect way to showcase the absolute phenomenon that was Din Djarin. His strength, his precision, his control, his power, his grace: all of it was on display.
In the third variation, you assumed he must have been tired. But he soared through multiple double assemblé turns with such ease, it looked like he was floating.
When he fell into his final pose, the audience lost their minds.
You looked at Adrian, and he looked at you, eyebrows high.
“That was insane,” Adrian whispered, and you nodded. “I knew he was good, but oh my god.”
You agreed. And you couldn’t help but start to worry, again, about the pas de deux. How were you supposed to partner someone who danced like that?
You worried over that question so much over the next few days that the words started to feel meaningless in your mind. You found yourself waking up too early, too anxious to sleep. It was only a matter of time before that started to show in your dancing.
In class you didn’t look at Din. You knew you were letting this grow into something in your mind that it probably wasn’t, but you couldn’t get a handle on it. You’d been through this before — moments where all you could see were your own flaws — but none of the tricks you’d learned over the years to claw your way out of it were working this time.
By Thursday, you were so anxious about the entire thing that it must have shown on your face, or in your body. Adrian took one look at you after morning class and pulled you into the smaller, sad break room (with the couch everyone hated) to make you breathe with him until you calmed down.
“Look at me,” he said after you’d taken several deep breaths in unison, squeezing your hand. “You can do this. One practice isn’t enough to make or break anything, you know that. You’ve been there before.”
You nodded, closing your eyes and clutching his hand with both of yours.
“He’s good, we’ve all seen it. But so are you.” Adrian’s voice was firm and you tried to believe it, too. “And you know Kuiil picked you for a reason. Think about it — Din Djarin has never danced anything remotely like this choreography. On Saturday he was doing what he’s best at, and of course it was freaking amazing. But you’re better at this.”
He was right. You let that truth of it settle somewhere in your chest. You felt at home in more contemporary ballet choreography, and to your knowledge Din had never so much as tried it. Concordia would never even consider it, that much was definitely true.
“You can do both, you know? I bet that was part of it. Casting someone who could show him how to let go of what he knows. He isn’t going to be the only person in that room who’s an expert on something.”
You took a deep breath and opened your eyes. When you met Adrian’s gaze, he smiled. “There you are. You ready?”
You nodded. “I can do this.” You couldn’t let yourself get in your head like that. You knew better.
“Hell yeah, you can. Come on.” He stood and tugged you to your feet, and then grabbed your shoulders. “Go fucking blow him away, ok? I know you can.” He shook you a little, and you laughed.
“Ok! Ok. I can do this.”
You tried to let that run through your mind like a mantra as you stepped into the small rehearsal studio. You can do this.
Kuiil and Din were standing by the sound equipment again. As always, Din was wearing black tights, black sweats cut off at the knees, and a tight, long-sleeve black shirt. You pointedly did not let your eyes linger on the line of his shoulders.
“Come in, my dear. We are going to start with something different today.”
You tried not to wince as Kuiil beckoned you forward, remembering the disaster of the week before.
“Today I will give each of you part of your solo pieces for the start, and I would like you to watch each other as you learn and begin to practice them.” He looked at each of you in turn as you nodded. “I want you to pay attention to each other. How do your bodies move as you learn? How do you come to inhabit the movement? How do you each make it your own?” He gestured between you. “As you know, after these moments, you will encounter each other on stage for the first time. Think about what that would feel like, as you watch each other today.”
You nodded again, frowning a little as you tried to work out what he wanted from you. To watch, to observe? To notice something new? To watch as if you’d never seen before? You supposed you could only watch and try and see what you found.
“Let us begin.”
He started with you. It was only a few counts of 8, a few moments following the wandering path of the violin in the music. What he gave you was very bare bones — you knew, from working with him in the past, that he sometimes wanted you to find your own way to connect things together. Kuiil always wanted his dancers to put themselves into his choreography.
You realized, after he had shown you everything he wanted to, that you hadn’t even looked or spared a thought for Din as you focused on the steps and the music. You were feeling better, more confident, focusing on choreography that played to your own strengths as a dancer.
“Good. Now, give it a try with the music a couple of times, and then I will show Din how he will begin. Do not be afraid to try different things as you let the movements settle.”
You nodded and took up the first position he’d shown you, arms extended a bit behind you. He started the music and you moved, finding your way through the moments Kuiil wanted in this brief part of the first movement. You let yourself sink into the music and the choreography, trying to feel it more than think about it. You whipped through turns and flicked your leg, almost smiling when your développé was timed perfectly to the music. There were moments that felt more awkward, moments you knew you’d need to work on, but overall you felt the weight in your chest lighten as you danced. You can do this.
Kuiil stopped the music just after you found the final position, and you sucked in a deep breath as you relaxed out of it and turned to look at him.
“Very well done, my dear. I can see the shape of it forming. One more time, and then we will switch. Try to smooth out that transition into the turn.” You nodded, but your curiosity got the better of you and you darted a glance to Din.
He was watching you intently, which you supposed was only following Kuiil’s directions. But for once his face wasn’t expressionless.
Din was smiling. It was a small thing, barely there, but it took your breath away.
Adrian was waiting for you after your rehearsal, and for once you were out the door and down the hall before Din.
“So?” He raised his eyebrows at you as he tucked his arm through yours, leading you down the hall to your rehearsal for the February mixed program. You were both in the same piece, for once, a collaboration between Jee and Vince. “How did it go?”
You told him all about it, about the way Kuiil had split the time between you. “Maybe he realized we need to get used to each other first? But we didn’t really do a lot of that, we didn’t even talk to each other much.”
“But you look like you feel better about it.”
You nodded. “Yeah, I mean, I got to do what I’m good at.”
“Hmm.” Adrian looked thoughtful. “I think that makes sense, though. Letting you learn about each other’s style.”
You shrugged. “Well, maybe. I guess we’ll see next time. But Adrian… he smiled at me.”
“Who, Kuiil?”
“No,” you almost whispered, glancing around the hall. “Din.”
Adrian’s jaw dropped as you led him through the door for your second rehearsal. “What,” he hissed, but there wasn’t time for him to ask you for more details. You put it out of your mind. You had to focus on the dance in front of you, anyway.
You took that motivation forward through your weekend and the next week of rehearsals. You had so many performances coming up — the February mixed program, Midsummer, and then after that, Swan Lake. And another mixed program in April. And Cinderella. You usually didn’t let yourself think that far ahead — you had so many rehearsals, and so much physical therapy, that you tried to focus on the next performance and maybe the one after. The ones that were right in front of you.
But it was a helpful distraction, for once, thinking through the rest of your season.
You knew Din had joined the Balanchine ballet for the February mixed program, and you knew those rehearsals were heating up. So you barely saw him outside of morning classes, and you’d been trying not to watch him as much. You wondered, a bit, if you should try to talk to him again, but you weren’t sure what you’d say. Hey, let’s get to know each other so we can actually dance together?
That one smile aside, he was still so closed off you weren’t sure how to bring yourself to try.
The Thursday of your third rehearsal with Kuiil arrived, and you moved quickly down the hallway, almost running — your rehearsal for Midsummer had gone long and you didn’t want to be late.
You turned the corner, moving quickly, and let out an “oomph” as you almost slammed into someone. You felt strong hands come up to steady you and once again blinked up to find Din looking down at you. His large hands were warm where they rested on your waist.
“Shit,” you cursed. “Din, sorry, I was —” you took a deep breath. “Sorry. I was running late. Obviously.”
His face was, of course, expressionless once more, but you could have sworn you saw the tiniest lift in the corner of his mouth as he looked at you. “It’s ok. I’m late, too.”
You smiled at him, hesitant, hoping to find that bit of ease you’d briefly had together before your rehearsals started. “Balanchine?”
He nodded. “Balanchine.”
You stepped back a bit and ignored the way it felt when his hands slid from your waist and brushed over your hips before falling by his sides. “How’s it going?”
Din fell into step beside you as you started to walk towards the small rehearsal studio where Kuiil would be waiting for you. “Good. They hadn’t rehearsed much when I started, so it was easier to step in and join one of the pairs.”
“Who have they paired you with?” Symphony in C featured four principal couples, and many of them had danced together for years at this point.
He nodded, seeming to understand your question. “Yuna. They hadn’t finalized that pairing yet, so it was easy to step in. And we didn’t do a ton of Balanchine at CBC, but I’ve danced the first before.”
That made sense. Yuna had just made principal this year, and had yet to form a strong connection with any of the others. You couldn’t imagine them breaking up the pairing of Mira and Diego, for example, or giving Din the adagio in the second movement, when he barely knew anyone yet. And that role, the pair featured in the first movement, was tough. It was perfect for him.
“Yuna’s great. She’s so good at partnering, too.” You could almost see Talia’s vision for them, in your mind — she and Din would dance beautifully together.
You’d arrived at your studio, but before you could step inside, Din said, “she said the same thing about you.”
You froze as Din moved past you into the studio. He had talked about you? With someone else? You stepped inside, in a bit of a daze, as you tried not to wonder what they’d talked about.
Later, during rehearsal, you clung to that positive moment in your mind, because it felt like the first rehearsal all over again. Kuill had you both run through the sections he’d shown you the week before and then returned to the moment you met on stage for the first time. But you could tell from the start that it hadn’t gotten better.
Somehow, it had gotten worse.
You’d lost count of how many times you’d tried it so far, but you took a deep breath as the music started. You started your pass across the floor, leaping into an attitude before rolling out of it. You were supposed to stand and find Din in front of you, except he wasn’t where you expected him to be, so it didn’t quite work. And then the moment passed.
No matter how hard you tried, you and Din couldn’t seem to find each other at all, throughout the rehearsal. You had no idea why you couldn’t seem to connect with him. Were you feeling the music differently? He felt so distant from you, even standing only a few feet away. Your movements felt separate, like you were on two separate stages, rather than sharing one space together.
You could feel the frustration begin to build from the base of your spine. You didn’t understand how you could have such an easy conversation with him in the hall and then hit this wall inside the studio, where it should have been easier to connect with him. It had never been this difficult for you to get to know another dancer before.
“Alright.” Kuiil stopped the music and you tried not to read into his tone. “That is enough for today. I know you have the mixed program this weekend. Focus on that, clear your minds, and next week we begin again.”
As you started to leave, feeling defeated, Kuiil called you back. You turned and saw Din hurry out the door in the mirror. You caught a glimpse of his expression as he did and realized he was frowning. Your own mouth turned down in response.
“My dear, I can see that you are frustrated.” You nodded. As he’d said before, your body couldn’t lie. “I want you to think about something before our next practice. How did you learn to connect with other dancers on stage?”
You thought about it for a moment. “Through movement, I suppose. And interpreting the choreography together.”
Kuiil nodded. “How is it different, when you are performing different styles?”
You blinked. You suddenly understood where he was leading you. “In classical pieces, it’s more pre-defined. It’s constrained. The connection, I mean. And how we are able to express it.”
He nodded again. “Think about that, as you rehearse this week. And we will try again.”

a/n: so 👀 how do you think the next one will go 👀🩰
Solor - this is a very difficult, technical role in a famous classical ballet, La Bayadère! Here’s a really long video of an almost complete performance by Sergei Polunin. The exact number of variations/solos that Solor has can vary by production but there could be as many as three, one per act, and I decided to make Din do all of them. Here’s one, two (and another one, and another, and another), and three with the double assembles. You may have noticed that the second variation can have a lot of different jumps in it – I stole the idea for the double saut de basque and revoltades (and another) from a couple places. I know I saw someone doing the double saut de basque in attitude where most of these men are doing a double saut de basque en dedans (both are in that video) but now I can’t find it.
Symphony in C - a very NYC Ballet piece choreographed by George Balanchine. It’s basically 100% focused on technique and it’s hard!! There are four principal couples featured in four movements. Din joins the first couple. Reader also mentioned the third. This is the sort of performance CBC would have been less likely to do, but it’s so technical and classical they would have added it to their repertoire to broaden it without moving from their classical stance. Here’s a recording of the whole thing from 1973.
Classical ballet - I’ve mentioned this before, but now I’ll say that not everyone would interpret classical ballet the same way. Din’s previous company was on the more strict end of the spectrum. We’ll learn more soon!
I know I've mentioned attitude before, but this time we also see a développé!

Art Can Be Therapeutic | B. Barnes x Reader
You’re an art teacher who meets Bucky at the art class he’s taking to help with his PTSD. You bond over your love for art, and your gentle nature helps him find peace. The contrast between your light and his darkness creates a compelling dynamic.
Tumblr media
You are an artist and instructor at a local community center. A man named Bucky Barnes enrolls in your art class to help manage his PTSD, and you meet during the first session. You notice his reserved nature and decides to gently encourage him. “Do you have any questions or need any help with the project that I’ve assigned?” You asked gently, a small sketchbook in hand and a paint stained apron atop your clothes. Bucky shakes his head and continues to sketch in the sketchbook that he brought. You smile and move on to the next student eager to help who ever needed a little extra attention. Your mind however kept wandering over to the quiet man that just enrolled. You were told that he suffered from PTSD due to the war, and, that’s about it. You were determined to make a difference in this man’s life.
During the course of the class, you and Bucky start to bond over your shared love of art. You notice Bucky's talent for drawing and encourage him to express his emotions through his work. Bucky begins to open up, sharing small pieces of his past with you. Such as, stories from before the war, and some of the things he loved to do to take his mind off things. Bucky mentioned that drawing, and, swing dancing were some of his favorite ways to ease some stress in his day to day life. You continued to bond over the course of the lessons.
One day, Bucky has a particularly rough day, triggered by a memory from his time as the Winter Soldier. You find him struggling to finish a drawing that he was working on. So you offer him a listening ear and a safe space, helping him through the episode. You offer to let him listen to music and have a warm cup of tea which helps soothe his anxiety. Bucky is grateful that you helped him through this episode and goes home for the night after thanking you.
As the classes progress, Bucky starts to find peace through his art. You introduce him to different mediums and techniques, showing him new ways to express himself. Your bond deepens as you spend more time together outside of class, exploring galleries and discussing art.
Bucky's past catches up with him when an old enemy resurfaces, which threatens his newfound peace. This threat means that you were now a target and he wasn’t going to let anyone come between the two of you. Bucky works tirelessly to protect you and make sure you’re safe at any cost. This leads to him losing sleep and becoming even more vulnerable.
But with your support, Bucky confronts his past and defeats the threat that has almost destroyed his hope and his newfound love for you. This experience strengthens your bond, and Bucky realizes that he doesn't have to face his demons alone.
After the threat is eliminated, Bucky helps you expand your classes, and help others who suffer with trauma like he’s experiencing. You both work together to open up a class that allows for veterans to come and enjoy relaxing music while either drawing or painting. This is a huge success in the community and Bucky is a changed person from this program.
You are his light in the darkness. A light that he never knew that he was capable of having ever again. And you proved that even Bucky is capable of love and kindness.

Book 7, Chapter 7, Episode 103

Malleus made a zombieland lmao
Tumblr media
Ok so remember last episode that mom mentioned that Ortho has a time limit of 20 minutes? Yeah, Malleus' magic is so complicated that it takes a super computer like Ortho 17 minutes to gather data. He's pressed on time, so he gets to work... UNTIL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
???: "My my... And I was wondering what anomaly might be happening in my domain..."
Tumblr media
Malleus: "You... Your appearance has changed, but you are the Littler Shroud, are you not?"
Ortho: "Malleus Draconia..! I knew it... So you did overblot."
Doggy 1: "GRRRR..."
Malleus wonders what Ortho was doing there, because he was quite sure the boy's sleeping soundly at Diasomnia. Ortho explains that it's too bad for Malleus because that body's already empty. He's escaped through the school's wireless LAN.
Tumblr media
Ortho: "I'm just a self-driven AI program data... But even if I say that, you wouldn't really understand right."
Tumblr media
Malleus: "In other words, your consciousness is that of a ghost that left its body to settle into another vessel... Did I get that right?"
Tumblr media
Ortho: "Oh~! So that's how fairies would interpret data transmission!"
(HELP? WHAT KIND OF CONVERSATION IS THIS)
Ortho confirms that yeaaaah, that's basically how it works. So he can move through electronic waves to basically anywhere, even outer space! He also explains that he probed through underwater cables too, but everything was blocked by magic... but through his desperation he realized that wireless waves were accessible to him because
Tumblr media
"Magic is the power of one's imagination. You need to understand something to conjure it... So naturally, you can't do something about things "you don't know about"."
Ortho found Malleus' weakness and exploited it! Malleus knows what cables are, but he doesn't know about the concept of wifi. He got outsmarted because of his ignorance omfg.
Tumblr media
Ortho: "Aren't your cybersecurity awareness a bit dull? I recommend setting up a UTM in your magic domain."
LITTLE BOY'S DISSING THE OLD MAN OMFG!! FUCKING BURNED SDAKNJSDAKLAS
Tumblr media
Malleus: "Yuuteeehm... Is that some sort of abbreviation for a technique?"
(He's actually talking to him in a civil manner??? Malleus is surprisingly in control of the clarity of his intellect...)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ortho: "Ehh~ you don't know what that is? That's why you're getting tricked by a junior like me. You're one of the top 5 mages in the realm and a master of unknown ancient magic but... It doesn't matter."
HE'S SO MEAN??
Tumblr media
"I WON'T FALL ASLEEP UNDER YOUR SPELL!"
Tumblr media
Malleus: "Hm... I see. Well, then..."
Tumblr media
Malleus: "An unsleeping, noisy mechanical doll can be silenced by shattering it to pieces."
HE'S SUDDENLY SO MORBID
Tumblr media
Ortho: "If you try to do that, then... "I'll show you STYX's... Humanity's greatest technological power!"
Ortho notes to himself that Malleus seems to be ignoring the data-collecting machines he's brought with him. He has 13 minutes left before the data gathering completes, so he MUST buy time until then!
Tumblr media
Malleus: "May I ask all uninvited guests to leave at once."

Revision Guide
"Come on, you can do this, Jen," she murmured to herself, staring at the thick textbook in front of her. The words swam together on the page, a jumble of incomprehensible facts and figures. It was the night before her big economics exam, and the pressure was mounting.
Tumblr media
Her phone buzzed, interrupting the silence. She picked it up and scrolled through social media, seeking a brief respite from the academic onslaught. An ad popped up, promising a quick fix for stress and improved concentration: "Unlock Your Mind's Full Potential with Our Exclusive Audio Program!" It looked like a miracle wrapped in pixels, and she clicked it without hesitation.
The program's description was enticing. It spoke of ancient techniques and modern science combining to create a pattern of relaxation that would sharpen her focus like a blade. She downloaded the files eagerly, plugged in her headphones, and hit play. The sound of ocean waves washed over her, melding with a soothing voice that instructed her to breathe deeply.
Her eyelids grew heavy, and she felt a strange warmth spreading through her body. The voice grew hypnotic, saying, "Good girls are rewarded, Jen... Just listen and obey." The words were comforting, almost maternal, and she found herself letting go of her stress, sinking into the pillow. The voice grew faint as sleep claimed her, and she didn't notice the transformation that had begun deep within her.
Jenni awoke to a world that seemed both familiar and alien. Her dull dorm room had transformed into a vibrant, luxurious space. The once plain walls were now adorned with cheerful posters and fairy lights, and her desk was buried under a mountain of makeup and hair products. She sat up, feeling an unfamiliar weight on her chest and realized her breasts had grown, straining against the fabric of her pajama top. She looked down and gasped. Her body had changed—her skin was now a glowing brown, her nails sharp and pointed, and her lips were fuller and redder.
Tumblr media
Her gaze fell on her old glasses on the nightstand, and she felt a sudden revulsion at the sight of them. Her eyesight had always been terrible, but now everything was clear and sharp. She didn't need those nerdy contraptions anymore. With a snarl of disgust, she flung them across the room.
Her roommate, Rachel, lay sleeping in her bed, her mousy brown hair a stark contrast to Jenni's new golden locks. Rachel had always been a bit of a party girl, never understanding Jen's dedication to her studies. Now, Jenni saw her as a potential project, someone to mold into a bitchy bestie to share in her newfound confidence.
Quietly, Jenni stood and walked over to Rachel's side, a wicked smirk playing on her lips. She picked up the headphones, the same ones that had brought about her transformation, and gently placed them on Rachel's ears. The voice from the audio file began to murmur, and Rachel's eyes fluttered closed. Jenni watched, eager to see the changes that would soon take over her roommate's body. Rachel had always been pretty, but not like this—not like the goddess Jenni knew she could be with a little push from the mysterious program.
The transformation began almost immediately. Rachel's hair grew out, the dull brown giving way to luscious blonde waves. Her nose sharpened, her cheekbones rose, and her eyes grew wide and blue. Jenni couldn't wait to see Rachel's reaction when she woke up to her new, improved self. The thought of Rachel's shock and awe brought a thrill to her heart.
The voice grew louder, filling the room with its hypnotic command. Rachel's body began to shift and change, her skin darkening to match Jenni's. Jenni felt a strange kinship, a bond forming between them as Rachel's body grew more and more like hers. Her own transformation had been exhilarating, but watching Rachel's was an entirely different thrill—a power trip that had her heart racing.
The room was silent except for Rachel's soft breathing and the steady rhythm of the ocean in the background. Jenni's mind raced with possibilities. How far would she take this? Would she make Rachel her servant, her toy? The thought sent a shiver down her spine, a delicious mix of excitement and power.
When Rachel finally awoke, she was met with a world that had changed overnight. She looked at Jenni with wide, confused eyes, taking in her new look. Jenni leaned in close, whispering, "You're going to be just like me, Rach. A bitchy cheerleader. And we're going to have so much fun." Rachel blinked, and Jenni knew she was hearing the voice too, the voice that had changed her life forever.

a Minho who's not healed from WCKD
not in the fun, angsty way
in the way that he watches and learns and pretends to be healed
always a soldier. Ever calculating
Paradise's best psychologist works day and night with him to get him to say a single word
well, the less he talks, the more those idiot doctors chatter
and the more he understands the role he's meant to play
"We're chalking it up to stress."
"He's been done a number on by WCKD."
"Look at the burns on his back."
"Minho? It's me, Thomas. It's okay. You're safe now. I promise."
"A7. I am your assigned psychologist. You have been released from WCKD facility. You have returned to your civilian life, and I'm happy to return your name to you."
So he plays along and pretends to be confused
eats his pudding like a good patient and sometimes he pretends to go berserk and try stabbing his eyes out with the spoon
sometimes that scared little boy inside him tries to succeed. Thinks it'd be easier that way
he's gotten very good at beating him down
"I... I don't remember anything," he whispers. He chews his lower lip like he's trying to stop it from trembling
When Thomas keeps making visits to him, he goes quiet again
there's something too nervous, too worried, too caring about the boy to be normal.
Minho stays quiet and tries to pick up what Thomas wants him to act like
his abrupt return to silence worries the doctors, who immediately cut meetings with Thomas
after Minho plays up the part of fully healing, he's released from the hospital with grinning doctors and a relieved Thomas
"We really thought it'd take more than this," Jorge murmurs as he helps Thomas carry a fake-limping Minho back to Thomas' tent. "I guess even WCKD's best scientists can't break you."
Minho puts out a tired but cocky smile that he knows will reassure Jorge
Thomas is a nervous wreck their first few days living together
awkwardly inviting him to sleep in one bed
asking him if he still likes his coffee with milk
trying to tease him and crack jokes, and then falling quiet and shuffling away when Minho doesn't respond
Minho has to take it slowly, otherwise it'll look suspicious
so he acts up the part of slowly loosening his soldier shell
Yes, he would prefer to be alone right now. But Thomas can be the exception
Yes, he hates being touched on his back. But Thomas can touch his scars because Minho smiles softly when Thomas' hands are on him
Yes, he will flinch violently when Thomas moves his hands a little too quickly near his face. But he'll catch Thomas' hands in his with a reassuring smile, then quickly yank his hands away like he didn't notice his intimate motion
Minho trains himself to wake up at random periods of the night, and then jerks out of bed screaming so Thomas can catch him in his arms and press kisses against his cheeks
when they're invited to help Frypan in the kitchen, Minho dabs whipped cream on his nose so Thomas can teasingly kiss it off
Minho wears thin shirts because Thomas blushes at the sight of his massive arms
Minho stops frowning so much. Stops shutting down and going quiet when he's confused. Lets himself cry when the nightmares of WCKD's training program come back instead of steeling his face and screaming quietly inside. Seeks Thomas' attention. Craves Thomas' touch.
and one day, he realizes he doesn't want to study Thomas and wait for the perfect times to strike
he doesn't want to beat Thomas into a bloody pulp and hold whatever's left as a hostage
he wants to be the Minho that Thomas thinks he is
Minho, whose soldierly calculations aren't going towards researching Thomas' weak points. What scars still hurt. What fighting techniques he can no longer do after the injuries he sustained
instead, he's noting Thomas' favorite cookie
what kind of scented candle he likes
that he loves the sound of wind chimes
his passion for a warm cup of tea on a rainy day
his distaste for Minho's pretend drinking problem
his adoration for budding flowers and small dogs
his awkwardness as he tries to figure Minho out
his goofy, idiot smile when he spots Minho in a crowd
I'm poisoning myself.
You're poisoning me.
Minho wasn't trained in this.
Minho can remove a bullet from his abdomen with no pain killers. Minho can operate a handgun with five broken bones in each hand. Minho can plank for half an hour while withstanding hot iron brandings on his back.
Minho can take a mouthguard without spitting in a scientists' face, and Minho can have his brain electrocuted without crying.
Minho can't take whatever Thomas is.
"I don't remember the Glade." He says it so quietly because he's so terrified. He's never been terrified before.
Thomas doesn't catch it. "You don't what?" he mumbles as he sinks his teeth gently into the soft skin of Minho's left shoulder. Minho's entire collarbone is littered with his lovebites.
It's the first pain Minho's ever enjoyed. And willingly sought out
"I'm not a Glader."
Thomas pulls off him, and his shoulder feels cold without that heat. His waist feels could without Thomas' arms wrapped around him, his lap feels cold with Thomas' legs resting him them
"Minho," Thomas tries to say in a soft tone.
"We should go to the hospital."
"Why?" Thomas rakes his eyes over Minho's body, concerned.
"I need to speak to my psychiatrist."
"Have you had another one of your attacks?" Thomas asks, suddenly urgent. He puts a gentle hand on Minho's, ready to do anything Minho wants him to do.
It breaks Minho. Completely.
Thomas holds him so, so gently as he sobs into his chest.
"I'm sorry," he tries to say, but Thomas just shushes him and kisses him sweet.

personal tools i use over the years to match the vibration of my desires
these are just some of the tools i use because i tried many techniques, but me "trying" before created more resistance. that's why i always tell people to do what works for them. these are my personal favorites that have always worked for me (because of my belief, of course) and have become a habit of mine, adding them to my daily routine.
affirmation tapes while sleeping
i love affirmation tapes, especially neville's and joseph murphy's one affirmation tape. i have listened to them overnight since 2022. since our subconscious mind does not sleep, i take advantage of it. our minds are most receptive upon sleeping and waking.
commanding my mind
it has become a habit of mine to counteract a negative belief the moment i think of it. i know and feel if a thought does not serve me, so i always flip it over. it has just become easier for me after working on myself over the years.
mirror work
i have been doing mirror work since 2021, when i finished the book "you can heal your life" by louise hay, where i got the idea. since words are powerful, i look myself in the eyes while telling myself affirmations. i feel which part of me resists that idea and try my best to calm it down and accept the new idea (affirmation) that aligns with my true self. it is actually very hard when you are programmed with negative beliefs about yourself and life in general, but changing those beliefs while looking in the mirror feels very powerful to me.
vision boards
while they are not necessary, i love the process of making vision boards. i have my big corkboard in my room as a vision board, and i also edit them for my laptop wallpaper and phone widgets. i just love being reminded of where i am going in life.
shadow work
when i feel it is hard for me to match the vibration of my desire, i know i have to uncover the underlying beliefs i have on that particular subject. so, i do my best to see which part of me does not believe and really investigate why i have that belief, why i bought into it, and make peace with it and let it go.
