Ugh the way fanon Jason calling Tim replacement v.s. canon Jason calling Tim pretender flattens Jason's motivations and the whole Jason and Tim relationship. 'Replacement' directs all of Jason's anger to Bruce. It makes Tim and Jason allies in victimhood. 'Here is this callous man that views us as interchangeable, can't you see that we're nothing to him?' 'Pretender' though... that holds Tim accountable for his role in making Jason's death meaningless. 'You saw everything I was, all that I gave, and you used it as a springboard to become what I should have been' is a lot more complex, and a lot more thematically accurate to Jason's whole deal. It's a larger gap for the characters to bridge, especially when Tim is coming from the perspective that his becoming Robin was not only right, it was necessary.

Unhinged Duo

Imagine, worst year ever!Tim meeting freshly escaping GIW/parents! Danny. And also various team Phantom members too, from time to time.

Danny and Tim get on with each other like a house on fire and proceeds to speedrun friendship while running from their respective families. Then they goes on an epic road trip across the world blowing up secret bases left and right, and then another one through the time stream and the realms looking for Bruce. Extremely bonding experience tbh 10/10.

Gods I shudder at how much devastation the two can create if they joined forces.

Anyways after they fished Bruce out of the time stream, Tim invites Danny to visit Gotham. Except when Danny got there he got caught up in lady Gotham's bushtits and ended up trapped in the city until he solved some vague problems for Gotham.

Which is fine really! His newly aquired best human friend #4 (gee isn't that depressing) is there to help. Also after their stint GIW, team Phantom is finally getting long due free time. So the team regroup in Gotham, seeking out online classes or going to Gotham U. So despite the lack of visible stars Danny is actually having a hell of a good time in Gotham.

Now if only lady Gotham is more specific on her request... Damn old spirits and their cryptic messages.

I'm trying to capture the vibe I want for them and getting out a first test. There are still many rough parts which need revision or more detail - but! At least I like the hair.

I actually think Dorian and Orym should fight more.

Remember when their slowly building tension over and entire episode (full of passive aggressive remarks and blame throwing) led to threats? And how after, Orym thanked Dorian for handing over the crown sadly because he knew Dorian would be mad at him? And Dorian couldn't even look at him because he was legitimately hurt, thinking Orym was disappointed in him for doing what he thought was right? That was peak.

The fact they went from that to their current closeness and trust is the best part of their entire dynamic. Their relationship was hard fought and still will be. They will fight for it because they respect and care for one another deeply, and their disagreements don't change that, only improve it.
