🧸Ateez meeting Y/N, a single mom. Part 1🧸
Part two
Hongjoong:
Walking into the music store wasn't something you expected to be doing today, but your daughter would not let up about wanting to learn to play the guitar, and she just needed to go look at some right now. So you gave in, taking her inside and looking around. You'd gotten a little distracted looking at a violin, reminiscing over when you used to play, when your daughter slipped away. Of course, she headed straight for the guitars. They were only a few feet away, and she ran straight into a man with burnt orange hair stumbling back a bit before catching herself. "Oh, uh, what are you doing in her cutie? Where's your parents?" He asked her, looking around, trying to find anyone who seemed like they were missing a child. Just that second you rounded the corner, "Oh sweetie, there you are! I told you not to leave my side." You said, looking at her sternly, before turning to look at the man, "I am so sorry about that. I looked away for two seconds." He assured you it was fine, asking your daughter why she was running to the guitars in the first place. "Oh, she wants to learn to play and insisted I bring her to look at them. I figured looking wouldn't hurt. I'd get her one, but I know absolutely nothing about guitars or where to even begin trying to find a teacher." You started rambling. He was gorgeous, and you found yourself a little embarrassed and flustered as he listened to what you were saying. He chuckled, noticing how you seemed a little overwhelmed, "I could help you find one if you'd like. I play a little, so I definitely know the best ones for beginners and more advanced options."He offered. You smiled shyly, nodding at him in thanks. Your daughter, however, had other plans, "Mommyyy, he said he plays!! He could teach me! Can the pretty man teach me, Mommy? Plleaaasseeeee??" She begged looking at you with pleading eyes. You glanced at him, a look of shock and mild panic on his face, before looking back to your daughter. "Now sweetie, I'm sure he's very busy we can't just go demanding lessons from strangers." Your daughter turned to look at him, giving him her best puppy dog eyes and lip pout to this day, "Pleaaaaseeeee will you teach me to play the guitar pretty man? Pllleeeeeaaaaassseeeeee.." She begged. He chuckled at the nickname given to him by your four year old and kneeled down to be eye level with her. "I will teach you one thing if you promise to listen to your pretty mommy and be good for her." He said, patting her head. "Okay, I'll be good!" She exclaimed, looking up at you with the biggest cheesiest grin on her face. He sat down with her and explained one of the easiest chords he knew to her, smiling brightly when she picked it up rather quickly. Heading back to you, smiling brightly, "Mommy, the pretty man taught me to play guitar!" Your daughter beamed at you. "Honey, I'm sure the pretty man has a name." You said, smiling down at her enthusiasm. "I do, it's Hongjoong." He said, looking at you with a smile. "Well, Hongjoong, thank you for taking time to teach her something. I really appreciate it. I'd love to maybe take you out to dinner sometime? As a thank you." You said smiling warmly at him. "If teaching her one chord gets me a date with her pretty mom, then she may have just found herself a teacher. He replied, handing you his phone with a cheeky wink.
Seonghwa:
Your daughter was exploring the Lego store and came across a big Star Wars set, "Mommy! Mommy! Can I get that one?? Pweeaaaseeee!?!" She asked, giving you her best puppy dog eyes and pouty lip. "Sweetheart, we can't afford that.. I'm sorry." You sighed, patting her head, "why don't we keep looking, I'm sure we'll find something." Seonghwa couldn't help but overhear and walked over. "I don't mean to intrude, but I couldn't help but overhear this sweet baby asking for that big Star Wars set. I just bought this one and realized I already have one at home. If mom doesn't mind, I'd be more than happy to give it to her." He was smiling down at your daughter before looking up at you awaiting your reply. "Are you sure? It's okay really, we were going to keep looking. Plus its a bit too advanced for her age." You replied. "More than sure, and I'm happy to help her build it. As long as that's okay with you?" He shot you a warm smile. "PLEAASSEEE MOMMYYYY can we please go build legos??" Your daughter asked, practically jumping in excitement. You looked at her and back to the man in front of you, "Okay, let's go." You said looking at your daughter fondly. "Thank you, uh.. I'm sorry I didn't catch your name?" "Seonghwa, and no need to thank me. I couldn't bare to see a little Lego lover so sad." You sat down in a seating area near the store and the two of them got to work. You'd noticed Seonghwa checking the directions pretty frequently, making you question if he actually already had the set at home, but you decided to leave it be. You were just grateful for his kindness towards your daughter. He was being so patient with her, teaching her where all the little pieces went asking her about what other kinds of toys she liked. You'd overheard him asking about you and not long after your daughter skipped up to you, "Mommy, Hwa wants to know if you'll come build legos with us?" Her big doe eyes pleading with you. "Oh, he does?" You looked at the man with a playful quirk of the brow. He just smiled back shyly. After some conversation between the three of you, Seonghwa reluctantly said he had to leave as he had somewhere to be soon. "But - but mommy, I want to show Hwa when I'm done!" Your daughter said, tears starting to well in her eyes. Seonghwa looked down at her and then to you. "I could uh, give you my number so you can text me when she's finished." He offered. "YES!! Pleaseee mommy!!" She said tugging on the bottom of your shirt. "Yes, that'd be nice. Thank you for building with her, you made her whole day." You smiled at him handing him your phone. He put his number in, "Don't thank me I enjoyed every minute of her happiness. And it was nice getting to talk to her pretty mom too."
Yunho:
It was your first weekend in months you weren't swamped with work. Deciding to take full advantage of your free time, you took your daughter to the arcade. Walking in your daughter immediately squealed in excitement, grabbing your wrist and pulling you over to the dancing games first. After several rounds and some pouting due to unperfect scores, she decided she wanted to try racing games. "Mommy, I wanna drive!" She exclaimed, pointing to one of the race car simulating games. "Baby, you're too short. You can't reach the peddles." You said, looking at her sympathetically. "But mommyy, I want to drive! It looks fun. I wanna be a big girl like mommy and drive!" She stomped her little foot, pouting. Just then, a very tall man walked up to the two of you, "I couldn't help but overhear, I could help her drive if you're comfortable with that? I think I might be tall enough, right?" He offered, directing that last sentence to your daughter, causing you both to giggle at this ridiculously tall man. "I think that would be okay.." You said, turning to look at your daughter, "what do you think, sweetie? Think he can reach?" You asked with a chuckle. "Yes, pweaseee!! Thank you, Mr. Giraffe!" She exclaimed, looking up at him with a bright smile. "Giraffe? I'm a giraffe?" He questioned, laughing at how adorable the nickname was. "I kinda like it! But, you can call me Yunho, since that's my name." He bent down, ruffling her hair, while looking up at you. "Otays, Mr giraffe Yunho! Can we go play now?" She asked, pulling on his pant leg. About 10 minutes into watching them play, hearing laughs come from your daughter you haven't heard from her since before her dad passed, you looked down at your phone and noticed it was almost time for bed. "Sweetheart, I know you're having so much fun right now, but we need to head home and get you to bed." You said softly, walking up to the game to help her down. "Nooooo, I don't want to go home. I want to stay with Yuyu!" She cried, holding onto Yunho. He pulled her back and gave her a pat on the head before setting her on the floor, "I know, and I want to play too, but you need to listen to your mommy. You gotta get some sleep so you can grow big and tall. So next time you won't need my help and you can play by yourself." She pouted, rubbing her eyes. "I don't want to play by myself anymore, I want to play with you forever!" You smiled sadly at her, knowing exactly what your daughter meant by that. Turning to Yunho, you said, "Thank you again. It's been a long time since I've seen her smile and laugh this much. She hasn't been that happy since her dad passed last year. You helping her play that game made her night and means a lot to me." Picking your pouting, sleepy daughter up to head to leave, Yunho stopped you. "I'd be more than happy to continue hanging out with the both of you, if you'd like?" He said timidly. "I, we would really like that." You replied, a fond smile on your face.
Yeosang:
You're sitting down at a restaurant with your daughter when two good-looking guys sit at the table next to you. "Look, Mommy! That guy looks like a prince!" your daughter says loudly, pointing at the blonde one. "Yes baby, he does, but you can't say that stuff so loud, and it's rude to point." You say a little embarrassed because they most definitely heard what she said given the fact the the one with black hair is giggling like a maniac "But mommy, that means he must have a castle and I wanna go!" She says, getting up and walking towards them."Excuse me Mr prince, can you take me to your castle? pwease I've always wanted to see one." She says, batting her eyelashes at the blodne haired man. You quickly follow after her. "I'm so sorry she's only 4, and she really loves fairy tales. Mostly the princes and castles." You say embarrassed. "Yeah, come on, Yeosang, show the little princess your castle," the black haired one says with a shit eating grin, causing Yeosang to look down, trying to hide his blush. "I'm not the princess," your daughter says to the black haired one. "My mommy is because princesses marry the princes, and I'm not old enough to marry anyone yet." She says matter of factly. With a little nod agreeing with her, Wooyoung replies, "You're so right, little one! So does that mean my friend, the prince here, should be courting your mommy? " He says, nudging Yeosang, who has yet to look up. Yeosang shyly looks to your daughter, "I would be horrored given that your mommy is a very beautiful princess, but I believe that princess should choose their prince." He said, sparing a shy smile towards you. "Well," you say, " I think I might be willing to give this one a chance." Both you and Yeosang are now smiling shyly at each other while Wooyoung and your daughter are sharing a victorious fist bump.

Ruby - Heartslabyul
Summary: how they fall in love with you
Warnings: fluff, mention of riddles overblot, food mention
Character(s): Riddle Rosehearts, Ace Trappola, Deuce Spade, Cater Diamond, Trey Clover
Tumblr media
Riddle Rosehearts - by understanding him
Things were put into a new perspective after you learned the details that lead up to his overblot. Who you once saw as a hot-headed tyrant became a boy plagued by the expectations put upon him. As you saw him grow as a person, so did your admiration for him.
You chatted with Riddle often about the things that bothered him, from the stress of being a housewarden to the everyday rules he forced himself to follow. Your attentiveness had always caught his attention, but now he was feeling different about it. His heart started to beat faster whenever he noticed how incredible you were listening, and before he knew it, he had fallen for you.
Ace Trappola - by having his back
It was no secret that the first year could be a bit chaotic, scratch that, very chaotic. Often times it could get him in trouble both with other student and teachers. He wasn’t used to people coming to his defense instead of laughing at him, but when you explained the situation of his pen being broken, he started seeing you in a new light.
See, what had happened was out of Ace’s control, and it’s not like he wanted to lose his magical abilities. Everyone remembered how he moped when collared by Riddle, so of course he didn’t want a repeat of that. Unfortunately, he still had to go into the mines to obtain another mage stone, but you were by his side the entire time even though neither of you had a means to defend yourself from any monsters.
Deuce Spade - by helping him improve
Even though he rarely talked about it publicly, you knew he struggled academically. You saw how his brow would furrow in class while doing individual assignments, so you suggested study sessions as a group with the other first years. He was immediately nervous, worried that if he outwardly expressed contempt towards his abilities he would be made fun of.
That’s when you suggested to do it just the two of you for the time being. Maybe you couldn’t help with all of it, but there was enough you’d learned that didn’t require magic that you were confident that you could help him. And help him you did. He started finding it easier and easier to complete tests, and your assurance definitely motivated him to do better, especially the way you’d smile and praise his progress. Wait a second, did he like you?
Cater Diamond - by showing you care
He’s used to suffering in silence, putting up a front for others, always smiling. You could sense something was going on with his, though. No one is that cheery 24/7, and sometimes you’d catch his smile dropping when he thought no one could see. Overall, you were worried about him. You’d never outright confront Cater about it, since that could be extremely overwhelming for him, but you decided to show that you were there for him in small ways.
Every day, you’d greet him first and ask how he slept and how his day had been so far. You made sure to engage in every conversation he had with you in the vicinity, and listen carefully to what he had to say. Even to the point where he began to show signs of being more comfortable around you, letting out a genuine laugh and smile when you commented something entertaining. He found himself starting to like you more and more each day.
Trey Clover - by taking interest in his hobbies
He was the big brother figure to many other Heartslabyul students, so he was used to engaging in what they enjoy, but not so much the other way around. Sure, his club members shared common interests, but it just didn’t feel the same. Enter you, pursued by motivation to get to know the vice housewarden better.
He kept secrets hidden very well, often pretending some things don’t exist in the first place, so when you asked him to teach you how to bake he was taken aback. You’d mentioned how his treats at the unbirthday parties had inspired you to lead, and who better to learn from than Trey Clover himself. While baking, you would encourage him to talk about things he likes to do other than baking, and he cautiously obliged. He was surprised at your genuine interest and by the time you were confident in your baking abilities, he made you a special treat with heart shaped decorations on it.

Ok, okay listen I have a mighty neeed to say this!
How would Feyd-Rautha feel about having a wife who’s sensual???❤️Hear me out, his spouse comes from a small planet called Eros (Greek word for passionate love) and it’s basically the opposite of Giedi Prime, the people are loving, gentle and highly romantic individuals. Even worse they are pacifists! At first Feyd is like eww wtf is that culture? Never heard of such a thing, but when it’s time to meet the bride he sees her and is bewitched…
She has long rapunzel hair cascading down her back, or in a braid. She’s gentle with the maids and teaches them how to put flowers in her hair.
Always had luxurious perfumes and oils. Runs Feyd these big bubble baths and soothes his wounds.
Has the best fruits and sweets shipped in from her planet. Loves telling stories to children, like one of those lovely kindergarten teachers and she thanks everyone for their help.
Loves to paint, and do artsy stuff that Feyd just doesn’t understand where is the war? The bloodshed! The chaos—oh she made me a painting of my battles! Oh that’s so😍
Kisses Feyd’s bruises and at first he’s like cut that out! But then he’s like “Where are my kisses?” “I demand your affection woman.” And she’s like you don’t have to beg. Black cat hubby vibes🐈‍⬛
Gives him good massages too. Will brutally kill and then surely die if she offers anyone else a massage.
Soft and siren like singing voice, plays the harp. Even the Baron is impressed and wants her to play for their events everytime.
“Pick up the blade and defend yourself wife! You never know when you’ll need to, especially if I’m not home to protect you.” His wife just shrugs “But darling, I don’t believe in violence.” Feyd take as deep breath and closes his eyes.
Speaks in a gentle tones “Hello Rabban how are—?” Feyd: “Don’t speak to him he’s a brute!” Rabban is touched that she cares but also jealous that Feyd always gets the most beautiful things offered to him. Even a caring bride.
Extremely calm and seductive. No voice or Bene Gesserit skills needed. Feyd storms in stressed, covered in blood from one his fights and she’s just lying there half naked in a robe reading a book. “Would you like to make love would that be better?” She asks stroking the sheets. “I—I would love to fuck you.” “Oh! Well those are two different things, if you’d like then” “Come here. Come here!” *climbs onto bed.*
Comforts Feyd when he has nightmares. Caresses him and hands him a mug. Feyd: “What is this? It smells horrid.” “It’s elderflower tea my love, it’ll calm you.”🥰 *sips tea* “I hate it. It’s disgusting.” *keeps sipping*
Wears a lot of silk, velvet and lace. Has a gorgeous body and luscious skin.
Feyd is shocked when his darlings don’t want to harm her because she spoils them with special treats, delicious wine, jewelry, and dresses. They forget he enters the room because they are giggling over their gifts. Feyd: “What is this?” “She gave us heart and kidney pie.” “And silver rings!”
Bonus points: She ALWAYS wears red lipstick which is a contrast to the black and white of the Harkonnen planet. Imagine whenever she steps in to see Feyd and her smile is wide and her lips look like bright blood.
Just a thought enjoy!❤️
Omg I LOVE all of this, thank you for sharing it!!
I definitely think it would be a learning curve for Feyd but deep down he just desperately wants someone to love him😂😭
I can see him getting frustrated with himself like “what are these feelings, what has she done to me” and when he asks her what kind of witch she is, she just throws back her head and laughs and tells him, “that’s love, dear”

How to Empower young children
For progressive parents, teachers and adults
Let them know that adults don’t have all the answers
Encourage free thinking and originality.
Let their opinions be heard and known. Don’t agree or disagree, create a judgement-free space for them to express and explore their ideas.
Give them choices and let them make small-level decisions for themselves.
Explain the consequences of an action in a factual way, not based on your negative past experiences. There are multiple probabilities and the child may not have the same experience as you did. You can however let them know about your fears around an experience, but also let them know that their experience is personal to them and will yield its own unique outcomes.
Give them pointers and directions to explore a certain concept by themself. Be a mentor and encourage them to ask questions while keeping the answers open-ended, ones that lead to further introspection for the child. A good answer is one that leads to more questions and digging in deeper rather than putting a dead-end to the exploration process.
The more briefly you can say something, the more clearly you have understood a subject and the better you can explain it to the child.
Children are full of energy and trying to calm them down is a futile effort. They have kinetic energy that requires them to move around, have space to play, run and have fun in their body while growing up. Don’t restrict their free movement or try to control them, instead give them ample opportunity to express this energy through their limbs as this is an important aspect of their physical development. In the early ages, growing physically happens before mental development, and hence is a greater priority, always remember that.
Teach your kids how to ask for their needs and be respectful of how you listen to them when they are expressing a need to you. Some needs are essential while others are less urgent, teach them the difference between the two and assure them that their essential needs will never be compromised and they must be loud and vocal about them, no matter who they are around.
Kids don’t understand the moods and issues of the adults around them. Help them understand what to expect and where and why you do what you do so they aren’t clueless about what’s going on. Don’t be afraid to speak about your vulnerable feelings with them in a polite way to help them understand better.
Never use aggression to control your child, be it verbal or passive aggressive as well. Children are very sensitive and only respond positively to the language of love. Using fear tactics on them is the fastest way to dis-empower them as individuals and turn them into a punishment-fearing restricted child instead of an authentic, happy and liberated child.
Give up the convenience of a quick fix and adopt approaches that will actually help empower children around us. You don’t have to be hard on yourself or be fake, start by just understanding things and being open to new ideas.

Pairing: Javier Peña x f reader
Word count: 2.5K
Chapter/content warning: 18+ MINORS DNI, barely even any fluff, very teeny angst maybe? But it'll get spicier in future chapters besties! Also this has not been proofread and I apologise if parts of it are bad. I'm at the start of another lupus and ME/CFS flare up and I'm not feeling great. This was a nice little distraction though. I hope you enjoy! Please let me know what you think Comments/reblogs/messages welcome :) and happy to add to a taglist, I'll just be keeping it for everything though rather than individual series etc.
Javier had been back in Laredo for just over a week now. He’d spent the first week with a sporadic sleep schedule, he barely slept but his mind was always running a million miles an hour. But blaming his isolation and long, inhuman hours in his room on jet lag was easy.  Who’d have expected the day that Javier Peña would retire? He certainly hadn’t. He wasn’t too sure what to do with his life as retirement didn’t really sound appealing but he figured that being back home and helping his father on the family ranch wasn’t the worst start for deciding.
Javier had been doing fence work in one of the fields and had come inside for a coffee break. He was making a fresh pot of coffee as his father talked about his day so far. Chucho had gotten into the habit of volunteering at the local school, the one that Javier had attended what felt like an eternity ago. Chucho would go there to help with the school community vegetable garden with the children and he’d bring in any extra produce from his own ranch in for the children. Chucho had spoken about the teacher for the class he volunteered with, While Javier was extremely observant, he’d hardly paid attention to those details.
Chucho continued to talk as Javier absently nodded along, Chucho knew he wasn’t listening but it didn’t really bother him, he was just glad to have his son back. The door knocked, loudly at first then softly, and Chucho smiled and tilted his head, raising his eyebrow for Javier to answer it. Javier sighed and went to the door, he opened it and his brow furrowed slightly at the stranger. He’d never seen the pretty woman standing there before.
***********
You weren’t a local but had moved to Laredo to teach, you had done teaching in cities but you just preferred teaching and the environments of small towns. You’d come from a small town yourself and you wanted the benefits of a small town without necessarily feeling constrained to your own small home town, Laredo was perfect for this.
You were also aware from your upbringing of how tight-knit small towns could be, for a newbie like you who had moved here for work and didn’t have a partner it could be a bit isolating at times. You made friends, most of your colleagues were nice, the kids were lovely and you’d almost been adopted by a local. Chucho, he volunteered with helping the kids learn about horticulture and agriculture. You now regularly had dinners together and you would often do additional baking for him. He was kind and it was quite homely, you knew he was lonely, his wife had died years ago and his only child, a son had been in Colombia for years working for the DEA.
It was the school break, so you’d done some reading and class prep but you had spent most of the day baking. You loved citrus and Chucho had given you a basket of lemons, so you thought it was fitting to bake a lemon and orange cake as a thank you. It was an easy type of arrangement that felt natural between you and Chucho at this stage. You had a basket of baked goods, Chucho had no trouble finishing your baking but you knew his son was back now as well so you’d made sure to bake extra.
You hopped out of the car and brought the basket with you, humming as you made your way up the patio to the front door and knocked. After a brief moment, the door opened but it wasn’t Chucho’s warm face welcoming you in.
It was a younger man, he looked about your age, maybe a couple of years older. He was extremely handsome with big warm brown eyes, golden skin, dark brown hair, and an aquiline nose, he had broad shoulders and wore tight jeans to show off his legs. You’d never seen him before but you knew he was Chucho’s son, Javier. Chucho spoke of him fondly and you were aware he was back, you just hadn’t met him yet.
“Hi,” you said softly, you put out your free hand for him to shake, he had a stern look on his face still, he looked over his shoulder at his father and then back at you. You found his tenseness a bit confusing but also endearing.
“Hi?” He said with a slight look of confusion that softened the stern look in some ways but not others. You quickly introduced yourself as he shook your hand, you noticed quickly how large and firm his hand was, the contact sent a slight tingle up your arms and you tried your best to not let your cheeks heat up. When you introduced yourself it clicked for Javier, “the teacher?” he asked. You smiled warmly at him and nodded, his expression changed slightly and you swear you caught him looking you up and down.
“I come with goods,” you said smiling warmly at him and you lifted the basket up. He looked down at the basket in your hand and nodded, stepping aside so you could come in. You took your shoes off and then walked in slightly ahead of him “I baked extra, Chucho said you were here, I didn’t realise you’d be here, well here-here today. I hope I didn’t interrupt you?” you asked him softly, which he just politely shook his head at. You knew your way around the ranchhouse having been there a million times and it showed, which slightly shocked him.
When his father had mentioned a teacher, Javier had just never imagined somebody around his age, or somebody as pretty as you. He’d taken your form in when you stood in the doorway and he now had a pretty good view behind you. He was trying not to look at you like that but he was intrigued by you, to say the least. You had a soft-spoken voice, he swore it was the softest voice he’d ever heard but it was still a bit bubbly. There was a glint in your eyes that he didn’t see in his whenever he glanced at his reflection and your smile was warm, it was like sunshine. Being in your presence and watching you was like sitting outside in sunshine on a perfect day.
You greeted Chucho, and Javier noticed how much his father lit up at seeing you and he didn’t blame the older man for feeling that way. Javier stood off, leaning against the kitchen bench watching as you and Chucho small talked and you talked him through what was in the basket. Javier was naturally a flirt and had no shame in it, he hadn’t been with anyone since being back home and he just felt tired. It also felt slightly wrong to try something with you in the kitchen when you were his father’s guest and friend even if you were completely age appropriate for Javier.
“Javi?” His father said, Javier’s eyes snapped up to look at his father, he saw Chucho and you facing him looking at him, he’d been lost in his thoughts. “Hmm?” He asked as he pinched the bridge of his nose, his eyes flickered to you briefly before meeting his father’s eyes. “Are you going to eat mijo?” Chucho asked.
“What is it?” Javier had a sweet tooth and he would’ve eaten it no matter what it was, he knew this and so did Chucho.
“Orange and lemon-” You started to say but you were cut off by Javier, he came closer to you, “hmmm?” He hated himself for it as it felt like flirting with how he was now hovering just to the side of you. But you were so softly spoken that he wanted to hear every syllable you said but it was hard to without needing to lean in, being drawn in by your warmth and tone. His body was still a bit tense which you noticed but his eyes seemed slightly warmer, you realised he’d struggled to hear you, you knew that your soft tone made you sometimes quiet, so you made a habit of projecting only while teaching. “Oh, sorry,” you said with a soft giggle and it was so sweet and melodic, “Chucho’s started into the orange and lemon cake, the fruit’s from the ranch, there’s some chocolate chip cookies and a batch of scones,” you continued.
“Cake sounds good, thanks.” You nodded and cut a generous slice for him. “What do you like?” You asked, tilting your head to look at him from the side as he took the piece of cake “I just have a sweet tooth, a pretty big one, chocolate’s always good. I’m easy to please.” he said as he then bit into the cake. You looked up at him with another award-winning smile “that’s good to know.”
He wondered what you meant, his sweet tooth or knowing that he was easy to please? He knew it could’ve been taken with double-meaning, he didn’t intend that at first but it just flowed out of him naturally. You looked over at Chucho “let me know how the rest of it is, I should go now. I’m sorry for imposing-”
“Nonsense mija, please stay? Eat with us, we were just making some coffee.” Chucho said with a warm smile. You shook your head politely, “raincheck? I have plans soon. Thank you though.” He nodded and Chucho walked you out. Javier stayed in the kitchen, finishing his slice of cake. It was perfect and he thought the flavours made perfect sense with what he knew of you.
After a couple of minutes Chucho came back into the kitchen looking at Javier expectantly, he raised an eyebrow at the younger man. “It’s really good.” Javier said matter of factly. Chucho nodded, “she’s a great baker. Walking sunshine really.” He looked at Javier who narrowed his eyes at his father, Javier felt like he’d hidden his expressions well. Chucho couldn’t be reading his mind could he?
“Single as well…” Chucho said with a smirk on his face.
“Why?”
“I don’t imagine many want to move to a small town like this and I guess she doesn’t have as many options in a small town like here. She actually can be a bit shy.” Chucho remarked as he dug into one of your scones.
“Why are you saying this?”
“She’s pretty.”
“And?”
“I saw how you looked at her.” Javier didn’t say anything, “she’s lovely, I think it would do some good for you to be around her. Platonic or not. But just no heart-breaking mijo.”
“You’re too old for set ups.” Javier huffed out, as he finished off his slice of cake and went up to shower. He didn’t want to think about you, it just added to the constant hurricane of thoughts in his head. He wasn’t sure why he couldn’t stop though, he’d just met you and barely knew anything about you.
*******
This was your first time back at the ranch since you met Javier, it had only been a couple of days. You were in the kitchen baking while Chucho was in one of the gardens. Sometimes you’d bake at the ranch and it was a nice change, it was certainly a nicer view than what your suburban kitchen window offered. You felt a pair of eyes on you, you knew it wouldn’t be Chucho as his presence would’ve been immediately announced with friendly chatter.
“Hey,” you said turning around smiling, you could immediately tell he’d come from outside, he has his yellow aviators tucked into his shirt and he had sweat glistening on his neck and forehead. He came more into the kitchen, “hi” he said, almost matching your quieter tone.
“In the business of jump scares?” You asked with a larger smile on your face, feeling a bit more playful today than usual, there was something comforting about being in his presence, even if he was hard to read.
“Hmm?” he asked with a look of confusion, his brows pulled together and you couldn’t help but think how cute the expression was, you felt your cheeks start to heat up so you turned back to your organised mess on the bench. “You almost gave me a fright, a jump scare, standing there like that.” You softly said, “oh, shit, I’m sorry,” he responded with as he went to get a glass of water.
“It’s fine,” you offered him a smile. As he drank from the glass he walked over, closer to you.
“What are you baking?”
“A chocolate and cinnamon flan.” He let out a soft chuckle at that and leaned against the kitchen bench watching you. He was so close, once again drawn in by the warmth just oozing out, “that sounds like a good combo.” was all that he could let out, barely above a whisper but loud enough for you to hear.
“Yeah, you said you like chocolate and well cinnamon reminds me of you, they tend to work well together.” He studied you closer, surprised at that. “Cinnamon reminds you of me?” He asked with a teasing tone but a curious smirk plastered onto his attractive face.
You tilted your head to look at him briefly for a moment, you felt your cheeks flush up. You’d thought about it and wanting to bake something memorable that he’d like. He had gorgeous brown eyes that you knew most people would compare to chocolate and you wouldn’t say they were wrong but there was a warmth there, that reminded you more of cinnamon. It made perfect sense to you and you weren’t sure if you could articulate that, let alone without sounding super intense as this was your second conversation with him.
“Yeah,” You answered with a pause as he patiently waited, “your eyes, they’re a lovely brown. There’s a warmth in them, reminds me of cinnamon.” You said it in your usual soft voice, you imagined it was maybe even quieter than usual and you tried to get the words out matter of factly. He seemed softer, more present today than when you’d met him. You liked it, it felt more safer to be around and just brought out the warmthness you could already sense was there.
“Huh,” was all he said to that, he’d never had anybody observe anything like that about him before, let alone try to turn that observation into something nice and tangible. You changed the subject and he seemed to notice maybe you were anxious over the implication of what you’d said. He obliged though as the more you obviously observed and well complimented him it would be so much harder to be in this room with you without teenage-esque puppy eyes. He didn’t want to get close to you, it wouldn’t be good for either of you. But he couldn’t help but lean a little closer and study you more, how your hands and eyes moved, how concentration adorably etched itself into your face as you focused on your task.
Javier bit his lip as he tried to push back all these thoughts of you away, although he was happy to bask in your kitchen sunshine for a moment, it was a respite from everything else in his life.

14th July >> Fr. Martin's Homilies / Reflections on Today's Mass Readings for The Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (B) (Inc. Mark 6:7-13): ‘Jesus began to send them out in pairs’.
Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Gospel (Except USA) Mark 6:7-13 'Take nothing with you'.
Jesus made a tour round the villages, teaching. Then he summoned the Twelve and began to send them out in pairs giving them authority over the unclean spirits. And he instructed them to take nothing for the journey except a staff – no bread, no haversack, no coppers for their purses. They were to wear sandals but, he added, ‘Do not take a spare tunic.’ And he said to them, ‘If you enter a house anywhere, stay there until you leave the district. And if any place does not welcome you and people refuse to listen to you, as you walk away shake off the dust from under your feet as a sign to them.’ So they set off to preach repentance; and they cast out many devils, and anointed many sick people with oil and cured them.
Gospel (USA) Mark 6:7–13 He began to send them out.
Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits. He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick— no food, no sack, no money in their belts. They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic. He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave. Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them.” So they went off and preached repentance. The Twelve drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

(i) Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
The journey of faith is always a shared journey. We journey together towards the Lord. It is together that we seek the Lord and discover him. When I look back over my own journey of faith, I am very aware of the people who have shared that journey, without whom I would not have come to know the Lord. I think of my parents’ quiet but deep faith, of teachers who shared their faith with me. I think of my time as a boy in a church choir. I call to mind women and men of faith who in various ways supported me on my journey of faith. I am sure that each one of you could call to mind people who were important on your own faith journey.
In today’s gospel reading, Jesus sends out the Twelve, two by two. Rather than sending them out as twelve individuals, he sent them out as six groups of two. Some might say that twelve individuals would cover more ground that six pairs. Yet, Jesus knew the importance of disciples working together to bring the gospel to others. Elsewhere in the gospels, Jesus sent out a larger group of seventy two, and, again, he sent them out two by two. The very first disciples he called were two sets of brothers, Peter and Andrew, and James and John. It is together that we come to discover the Lord and it is together that we share him with others. The journey of faith is never a solitary one. That is why we feel the need to gather together to celebrate our Sunday Eucharist. Our presence at Mass reminds us that we are interconnected in the Lord. We receive the body of Christ as members of his body. As Saint Paul says in one of his letters, ‘Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread’. Even when we cannot get to church physically for whatever reason, we are united in spirit with other believers, especially with the members of our parish community.
We often give expression to our journeying together in faith in other ways. Some of us might come together to reflect on the gospel reading for the following Sunday. Others may be part of a faith group. In our Diocese every year groups of adults journey together towards baptism. The greatest source of strength for my faith is the person of faith walking alongside me. The Lord comes to us through the faith of others, and he comes to others through our faith. In today’s second reading, Saint Paul reminds us that it has always been God’s purpose to bring people together around his Son, Jesus. Indeed, Paul declares in that reading that God ‘would bring everything together under Christ, as head, everything in the heavens and everything on the earth’.
In the gospel reading it is on mission that Jesus sends out his disciples two by two. Their mission is to be an extension of Jesus’ mission. They have received a great deal from Jesus and now they are to share what they have received with others. They are to bring Jesus’ healing presence to those who need it most, and they are to do this together. Up to this point in Mark’s gospel, the disciples have shown themselves to be very flawed, somewhat unreceptive to Jesus. On one occasion, during the storm at sea, Jesus had to rebuke them, ‘Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?’ Yet, Jesus dares to send out these flawed disciples on mission. Perhaps this was one of the reasons why Jesus sent them out in pairs. The strengths of one could compensate for the weaknesses of the other, and vice verso.
The Lord continues to send us out together on mission to share the treasures of the gospel we have received. Like the first disciples, we too are flawed; we all have a long way to go in our relationship with the Lord. Yet, the Lord wants us to share in his mission together, knowing that together we are more likely to reveal his loving and healing presence to others that just as lone individuals. The Lord has gifted each of us in a unique way through the Holy Spirit. We each have something to give out of what the Lord has given us and something to receive from others out of what the Lord has given them. The Lord needs us all if his mission in today’s world is to be a dynamic one. He needs both our willingness to give from what we have received from him and our willingness to receive from what he has given to others. In the second reading, Paul speaks about ‘the richness of the grace which God has showered on us’. That richness of grace that God has showered on us through his Son becomes evident only when we journey together, when we share together in the mission of Jesus. Again in the words of that reading, individually, ‘we have been stamped with the seal of the Holy Spirit’. The Spirit has stamped us in a way that is unique to each of us. When we come together to share in the Lord’s mission, the full richness of the Spirit’s life within us and among us will become evident to all.

(ii) Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
July and August are traditionally the months when people take holidays. More often than not we speak in terms of going on holiday. For most of us, a holiday involves a going, a setting out on a journey of some kind. An important part of a holiday is leaving the familiar, the place where we usually live and work, and heading off to a different kind of place. There is always something exciting about setting out on such a journey. We make such a journey gladly and willingly, with a sense of expectation and anticipation. Such journeys are of our own choosing; we make them because we want to make them.
There are other journeys in life we find ourselves making that are not of our choosing in quite the same way. These are journeys we make because, at some level, we feel we must make them. Something deep within us moves us to take a certain path, to head out in a certain direction. Even though we sense the journey may be difficult, and we may have all kinds of hesitations and reservations about it, nonetheless, we know we have to set out on this path, if we are to be true to values. Yes, we choose to make such a journey, but it is a choice in response to what seems like a call from beyond ourselves or from deep within ourselves.
Such a journey is put before us in today’s first reading. Amos, according to himself, was a shepherd and a dresser of sycamore trees in the southern kingdom of Judah. Yet, at a certain moment in his life, he felt under compulsion to make a difficult journey into the northern kingdom of Israel in order to preach the word of God there. It was a most unlikely journey for the likes of Amos to make, and Amos was well aware that it would be no holiday. Yet, he also knew that this was a journey he simply had to make. He spoke of this compulsion he felt in terms of God’s call: ‘The Lord… took me from herding the flock and… said “Go”’. Amos went because he had a strong sense that he was being sent by God. In a similar way, in the gospel reading, the disciples set out on a journey because they are sent on that journey by Jesus. They set out freely, but in response to a call, a sending.
The experience of Amos and the disciples is also very often our experience. Like them, we can find ourselves setting out on a journey that is not completely of our choosing. In today’s second reading Paul speaks about the mystery of God’s purpose. God has a purpose for our lives. That same reading speaks about God’s choice. God has chosen us to live in a certain way, chosen us to live and to journey as Jesus did. Although we are constantly making all kinds of journeys of our own choosing, whether it is the journey associated with a holiday or some other journey, there is a more fundamental journey that God has chosen for us. God’s choice, God’s purpose, impinges on us throughout our lives, prompting us to take certain paths and to avoid others, moving us to set out in one direction rather than another. The basic shape of the journey that God has chosen for us is visible in the life of Jesus. God never ceases to call us to take that journey, to walk in the way of his Son. Although God has chosen this journey for us - ‘before the world was made’, according to the second reading - God also wants us to choose this journey for ourselves, and God waits for us to do so. This is not a choice we make once and for all. Rather, it is a choice we are constantly remaking. Throughout our lives we keep on choosing to surrender to God’s purpose for our lives; we keep on trying to set out on the journey God is calling us to take; we keep on inviting God to have his way in our lives, saying with Mary, ‘Let it be to me according to your word’.
If we keep on choosing the journey that God has chosen for us in Christ, responding to God’s call, this will impact on all the various smaller journeys we take in life. It will influence the way we holiday for example. We will choose to holiday in ways that are genuinely recreational, that truly re-create us in the image of God’s Son. We will relax in ways that are really life-giving for ourselves and for others, that help us to become more fully the person God has chosen us to be.
The readings this morning invite us to become more attuned to the Lord’s call to journey in a particular way. Like Amos and the disciples, we may feel anxious and uncertain before this call, but, in heeding that call, we are assured of what the second reading refers to as ‘the richness of the grace that God has showered upon us’. The Lord does not send us out on the journey he has chosen for us without also providing for us along the way. As we try to be faithful to the Lord’s way, we will experience, in the words of today’s Psalm, the Lord’s saving help.

(iii) Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
There is a strong link between today’s first reading and gospel reading. In both readings, people are called. Amos was a shepherd and a farmer, when suddenly he heard the Lord call him to proclaim God’s word to people far to the North of where he lived. These were people who needed to hear God’s word. Amos would never have seen himself in this role. He seems to have been quite happy looking after his sheep and sycamore trees. In the gospel reading, Jesus sends out the twelve in pairs to proclaim his word to those who needed to hear it, and to enact that word by freeing people of their demons and healing the sick with oil. A short while before this, these twelve disciples were working away at their day to day tasks. At least four of them earned their living fishing on the sea of Galilee, and another earned his living by collecting taxes for the Romans. Yet, just as God called Amos from his work to proclaim his word, so Jesus called these twelve from their various jobs to follow him and then to go out in his name, so that he could be present through them to those that Jesus could not reach personally.
Amos and the twelve had a sense of being called. They experienced a call which they felt they had to respond to.  The same could be said of Mary of Nazareth. Her call was unique, to become the mother of God’s Son. She was a young woman from Nazareth, learning the skills that women of her age learned at that time. Yet, the Lord called her and she responded. There was a woman called Lydia in the early church; she features in the Acts of the Apostles. She was a dealer in purple cloth, the most expensive cloth of the time. In Philippi, she heard Paul preach the gospel and she felt called by Paul’s preaching. She went on to become Paul’s host, inviting him to her home. It is likely that her home became a gathering place for the church in Philippi. All of these men and women, and many more, discerned that God was calling them to something; they had a sense of vocation. There was a time when the word ‘vocation’ applied largely to those who felt a call to the priesthood or religious life. Yet, we all have a vocation from God, which is rooted in our baptism. We are each called to be the presence of God’s love in the world, to be followers of God’s Son, Jesus, and temples of God’s Spirit. This shared vocation is one that we each live in a very personal way.
How we live out that shared vocation will be shaped by our personal circumstances in life and our unique identity. There is a long-standing saying in the tradition of the church that ‘grace builds on nature’. The unique vocation that the Lord gives each one of us builds on our natural gifts and limitations and takes into account the particular circumstances of our day to day lives. We each have to discern what our personal vocation from the Lord means for me at this time of my life, in this place where I find myself. We ask ourselves, ‘What is the Lord calling me to do here and now?’ Whereas our fundamental vocation remains the same all through our lives, what it means concretely will change as our life situation changes. What the Lord is calling me to do when I am seventy is not what he called me to do when I was thirty. What the Lord may be calling me to do now that my health is failing somewhat is not what he called me to do when I was strong and healthy. Yet, the Lord never ceases to call us to be his messengers in the world, to allow our lives to be shaped by his Spirit. That call remains with us until the day we die. We need to keep praying for the strength to take the path that our personal vocation may require us to go down, at whatever stage in life we find ourselves.
The Lord continues to call us, even when we are somewhat slow to respond. History suggests that people often do not follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit but instead lean into a spirit of darkness. Yet, God continues to call, patiently pursuing his great project of an earth inhabited by people who let the Holy Spirit of God’s love shape their lives. Each of us is vitally important to the realization of this dream of God. To the extent that each one of us is trying to respond to the Lord’s personal call to us, we are helping others to respond to their call. The Lord’s call is personal to each one of us but it is not a private matter. We are members of God’s people, of Christ’s body. We belong to each other and depend on each other. In the gospel reading the Lord did not send out the disciples alone, but in pairs. They needed each other if they were to live their vocation to the full. We too need each other, we need the church, if we are to be faithful to the Lord’s very personal call to each of us.

(iv) Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Some people going on a journey they as much as possible to cover every eventuality. They leave nothing to chance, but then arrive home having used only some of what they brought and wonder why they brought so much with them. Others are happy to go on a journey with the basics that they think they will need, knowing that they can probably purchase anything else they will need when they get to their destination. Jesus’ instructions to the twelve in today’s gospel reading as they set out on a journey are very minimalist indeed. He starts off by telling them to take nothing for the journey and then goes on to make a few exceptions. They can bring a staff for walking and they can wear sandals. Otherwise, they are to depend on God to provide for them and on the hospitality of those to whom they preach the gospel.
What could that gospel reading have to say to us today? There is a sense in which we are all sent out on mission by the Lord, like Amos in the first reading and the twelve in the gospel reading, although not in the way they were sent out. We are all called to share our faith with others in some way. There is to be a missionary dimension to our faith. For most of us, that will not mean going on a journey far from our home, like Amos who was sent by God from his work as a shepherd and sycamore tree dresser to preach God’s word far to the north. Most of us are asked to be missionary wherever we find ourselves. The parents of Julia, Ellen and Caoimhe, have shared their faith with them in their homes, and they are now ready to make their first holy communion. In the gospel reading, Jesus sends the twelve to bring his healing power to those whom they would meet on their journey. We show ourselves to be the Lord’s missionaries whenever we are instruments of his healing presence in the places where we live and work. The Lord wants to work through each one of us to build up, inspire and strengthen those we meet. The twelve were sent out to give to others what they themselves had received from the Lord. Before we can be instruments of the Lord’s sustaining and healing presence, we need to experience his presence in our own lives. Before the twelve were sent out by the Lord, they had to spend time in his company. He first called them to be present to himself, to experience his loving and life-giving presence in their own lives. Only after some time of receiving from the Lord did he send them out to give as they had received. If as individuals we are to be the Lord’s missionaries today, we need to learn to receive from him first. The Lord has much to give us and we have much to receive from him. The Lord’s mission to each one of us is primary. If we welcome the Lord’s mission to us, if we allow the Lord to serve us, then we will be empowered to share in his mission of service to others. The Lord will work through us to bring healing and wholeness to the lives of others.
The Lord serves us when we come before him in prayer; he also serves us through others. Perhaps the Lord sent out the twelve with so few material provisions because he wanted them to receive from others as well as to give to them. Yes, they had a wonderful treasure to share but they also had much to receive from those to whom they were being sent. In travelling light, they were showing that they were not self-sufficient. They were sent out by the Lord in a vulnerable state, so that they would learn to depend on others and ultimately on God working through others. We are called to share in the Lord’s mission to others, but also to open ourselves to the Lord’s mission to us through others. We have the treasure of the faith to share with others, what the second reading calls ‘the richness of the grace which God has showered on us’. Yet, others have a similar treasure to share with us. There are ways that we can bring the Lord’s loving, healing presence to others and there are ways we need to receive the Lord’s presence from others. No one of us possess all the richness of God’s grace. It has been shared out between us all. We all have much to give to others out of our relationship with the Lord and much to receive from others out of their relationship with the Lord. In virtue of our baptism, each one of us has been ‘stamped with the seal of the Holy Spirit’, in the words of today’s second reading. We have each been gifted by the Holy Spirit in different ways and we need each other’s gifts.
In the gospel reading, not only did Jesus send out the twelve sufficiently vulnerable to require them to depend on others, but he sent them out two by two, rather than individually. Jesus knew that a disciple’s greatest asset would be a co-disciple. We need each other’s faith, each other’s witness, each other’s gifts of the Spirit, as Julia, Ellen and Caoimhe will continue to need the faith of their parents. We need the community of believers, the church, if we are to share fully in the Lord’s mission in the world today.

You know how people talk about you when they think you're not listening, you've always known how people talk about you when they think you aren't listening. It doesn't always get to you, doesn't always make you want to curl up and hide away until you feel the tears go back to their rightful place in your eyes and not outside of them. Some days though, some days like today you're reminded of how your actions are always going to come back to haunt you even if you were perfectly content with them at the time.
Dating- officially dating Professor- Elvis meant that everyone knew about you, knew that the rumors and jokes they had made when you wore his jacket were true. That you were in love with him and he was in love with you and that you were sleeping together with an alarming regularity. It meant that some people questioned your grades in his class until almost every student who was with you and half of Elvis's little Mafia defended you and made it clear that no you hadn't slept with him for grades. Officially dating him- being with him- meant you didn't take precautions as much as you should despite this being your last semester and you found yourself growing the consequence inside your belly, watching as it rounded out these last few months as you wore more flowing outfits to accommodate it. Though with one more month to go before graduation, you're beginning to think you're running out of room to honestly hide it.
You like to think that with him in your corner, with his Mafia in your corner everyone would refrain from the comments about your previous escapades that would happen every so often. You figure that people knowing you're finally in a committed relationship would keep them at bay and yet you find that somehow it makes it worse. Most people who still want to comment don't say it to your face, a fact you're thankful of for a number of reasons. And yet, yet there are those few individuals who should know better, those adult men who are older than you just barely but should know better if they're going to be teaching students younger than you.
"Hey, are you the one they call the Tour Guide?" You hear a deep voice from above you ask and you feel your blood freeze and feel your nausea come back with a vengeance. You should ignore it but your body instinctively looks up as you square your shoulders and move to stand up, unwilling to potentially argue this while sitting down.
"I haven't been for a while. Do I know you?" Your eyes study his face, trying to see what his angle is as you subtly step away, holding your books and work you had been doing in front of your stomach.
"New professor." He says looking at you not unlike you're a piece of meat. "Wanted to see what the fuss with you was about. See what charmed someone like Presley." His eyes rake over your form. "I can see it. You sure you don't want to-"
The words come from your mouth as quickly as they pop into your head as you take another two steps back. "I'm happy with him. We're-" You stop yourself, knowing you're about to spill your secret that you want to keep until graduation at least. "I'm not interested. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to be late for my class. I'll-"
"See you around, Tour Guide." He finishes off your sentence with what he thinks you're going to say and a nickname you've been trying hard to shake leaving you to clench your jaw in shame and to pull your lower lip in between your teeth even while knowing it'll ruin your lipstick. It shouldn't bother you as much as it does. It shouldn't affect you like it is. After all, you were happily with Elvis, you were expecting a child- children if the ultrasound and his intuition were right- with him. It shouldn't matter if someone new- someone who had just come to the school- knew you as the Tour Guide versus just as another student. You'd have taken them knowing you as Professor Presley's girlfriend if you had to, truthfully, but to be known as the Tour Guide, that stupid little nickname bestowed upon you because you could show them a good time around campus makes your stomach roil and has you making a beeline for Elvis's office, ignoring the concerned look you get when you practically slam into- god you think Jerry only to ignore his question of whether or not you were alright.
Elvis has a class, you know this and you aren't expecting him to be in the office any time soon but you find his jacket- the extra one he keeps in his office for when you're cold and were too lazy to grab one in the morning draped over the couch. As silly as it is you wrap it around yourself, inhaling the scent of your boyfriend- your future husband you think and try to calm your brain, try and calm the way everything swirls around your head over and over again. You're expecting to have an hour at least to do this only to hear the door to his office open revealing his worried face. It takes only a minute for him to make his way to the couch and pull you close to him. Your vision blurs for a moment as he speaks.
"What's wrong?" He murmurs against your hair. "Jerry- ya ran into him and looked- ya worried him enough that he came and pulled me outta class, told 'em it was dismissed." His hand moves to press against your stomach. "Somethin' wrong wit'-"
The speed your head shakes is a little violent before you realize you ought to use words. "No, no, nothing. Nothing wrong with the baby. Nothing wrong." Except they have a whore of a mother. A whore of a mother who won't ever be known as more than that around here. They have a Jezebel for a mother and even their father knew that.
Elvis studies your face, studies how it appears to be darkening and how it seems as if you're in your own head far too much for his liking. His hand moves to cup your chin. "Belle," he starts, using his nickname for you, "tell me what's goin' on in that pretty head o'yours."
"No." You answer simply, shaking your head, because this is silly and you're only bothered by it because you're emotional and not because- not because you think it's true. Think that deep down you're still that Tour Guide. "I don't- it doesn't matter."
"It's got you practically cryin' on the couch in my office. It matters plenty. Spill you stubborn woman." There's no real malice directed toward you when he says it, and you know the forcefulness is because he's worried.
"There's- Someone called me Tour Guide. There's a new professor, I don't know the department, I didn't ask, but he- he-" You take a deep breath. "He wanted to know what the fuss was about and said he could see it. Could see why you fell for me. Couldn't have gotten you with my mind or anything like that. No, I just got you because of how I look and my skills." He hadn't said all that, you knew that first hand but he might as well have, after all it's all your brain could think about. "Because that's all I'm good for, right? Being a whore. A jezebel-"
Elvis grip loosens on your chin as he pulls you into his lap, knowing fully well his knees are going to regret this decision later. "Belle, don't. Please don't talk about yourself that way."
"But you even called me that, Elvis. You called me a Jezebel. And I'm- that's all anyone's going to think about me aren't they? Especially when they see-" That you're pregnant when you graduate.
"That you're carrying my babies that were made out of love? Outta me wantin' to give you a child even if God's got some funny timin' 'bout the whole damn thing? Darlin'- Who the hell cares what they think. They've been havin' me in a grave for years now n' ya don't see me agreein' wit' 'em do ya?"
You shake your head as you allow at least a tear or two to fall. You're not crying, you're just releasing the tears. You don't want to cry over this, not in his lap, not right now when today had been fine otherwise. "No. But you're-"
"But nothin'." He puts his hand back under your chin and tilts it up so he can look you dead in the eye before he kisses you. "I called ya that when I was angry as a bull at ya. Ya know 'm in love wit' ya 'cause of that brain of yours. 've got the strongest woman this side of the Mississippi as my future wife. N' I don't care what anyone else wants to say 'bout her 'cause it ain't true. Yeah, ya got a past, but so do I. Makes me who I am but isn't me any more. Jus' like it made you who you are, and brought ya to me but that's not the woman I know. Ain't the woman carryin' my children. Ain't the woman I wake up ta. Ain't the woman I'm gonna marry and I'm gonna watch teach students."
It's then that the damn breaks, it's then that you finally start to tear up properly and bury your face into Elvis's chest, allowing yourself a moment to let out the frustrated cry you had been holding back. All Elvis does is rub your back, doesn't shush you, just reassures you as you let it out and as you release the tension in your body. After what feels like an eternity you finally pull away and look at Elvis.
"I- I just want people to know me as more, Elvis. That's all I want. I don't want to become a professor if that's what I'm-" Elvis cuts you off with a wave of his hand.
"Trust me. If anythin'? Ya gonna be known as the hardass who grades papers so harshly they'll be beggin' me to talk some sense into my wife. And you know what I'm gonna tell 'em?" You hum softly and shrug. "That they oughta jus' pay more attention in class. Maybe then they won't be failing."
That's what does it, what finally makes you smile and has Elvis giving you a small one back as he looks at you with such a look of love you remember just how and why you fell for him. "I mean it, Belle. Don't- Don't talk 'bout yourself like that, a'right? Promise?"
"Only if you promise to actually tell my students that when the time comes."
The laugh Elvis as he answers lets out rumbles against you and you feel the last final bits of tension you were clinging to finally disappear. "Promise."

Ask game 5, 11, and 20 :)
5. Favorite band
hard to say, I tend to kinda pick an artist each day and just throw their discography on album shuffle to some extent
that said tho Death Cab wrote most of the songs that I would use to describe myself as a person so probably them? honorable mentions to Sleeping At Last, MCR, Phoebe Bridgers, and Linkin Park who are all pretty frequently in rotation
11. Favorite flower
I'm not a huge flower person, but I always liked yellow snapdragons - I loved making the 'mouths' open and close as a kid and it was an affection that was *mine* and not because of anybody else which doesn't happen too often
20. Five things you love
thissssss is a kind of vague question so I'm gonna give a kinda wide ranging answer! if I had to pick five things I love to describe myself:
I love rain, all kinds; the thunderstorms that keep you indoors in a blanket reading and drinking tea by the window, the misty morning rain that's barely there but if you go out in the morning it clings to you when you go back inside, the light summer rain through the trees that barely reaches the ground through the foliage but the sound of it on the leaves fills you up and every drop that makes it through feels like a surprise, the unexpected rain that catches you on the street and you decide to just walk home and splash in puddles and look forward to dry clothes and a warm drink and a blanket, the torrential downpour that starts in the afternoon while you're relaxing and the wildness of it drives you to put down what you're doing and go outside and stand in a puddle barefoot with your face raised to the sky
I love trees; the oaks and beeches and maples and birches and pines are the biggest thing I got homesick for when I used to leave New England
I love singing; I've had very little opportunity for formal training or performance, but I sing pretty much any time I'm not talking or listening to something else. sometimes it's an expression of comfort or joy or some other feeling, sometimes it's self-soothing, sometimes it's just a vocal stim, but I know probably a hundred or two songs by heart and I'm pretty good :)
I love words; I love the subtle nuances and how minor changes can change the tone or intention in a sentence or a conversation, I love learning about etymologies and figuring out where I picked up a certain word or definition from. I love editing, and picking apart sentence flows and discussing effective communication to specific audiences (I help my housemate make/edit course materials for her classes sometimes and always enjoy it)
I love teaching; to me, the most fulfilling thing to do once I've reached a point of pride in my own competence at anything, is to try and pass on the knowledge and joy that I get to other people. I'm not a teacher, I'm an under-educated high school dropout, but I love to talk about and share my knowledge of the things I do know, whether it's games or practical computer skills or the therapy skills I've acquired over the years as a patient or whatever else. trying to figure out the best way to teach an individual or how to re-frame my own thinking to better accommodate them is a fun challenge
haha oops that all got. very long and rambly I blame thinking about why I love rain for putting me in a Mood(tm) (also it's 5am and I can't sleep and my brain-do-words filter is shot)
thank you for the ask <3

Do you own anything from Victoria's Secret "Pink" line? Do you really think the clothes are worth the price? I don't. And maybe for some people yeah but personally it's not my style so no.
What does your last incoming text say, who was it from, and how do you feel about that person? It was a delivery rider just asking for specific directions going to our house. I don't have any feelings about the guy since I never ended up meeting him as I was out when he texted.
Did you have a New Year's kiss? No, I've always been with family in celebrating the New Year.
Are there any words that you cannot pronounce or that you pronounce incorrectly? For some reason I struggle with enunciating 'beautiful.'
After a long day at work or of doing something physical what tends to hurt more? Your back or your feet? Back and shoulders, which is why I always have a supply of ointment to coat all over my body at the end of the day lol. My legs only really hurt on days I do a lot of walking, which don't happen a lot.
Do you have a smart phone? If so, what's your favorite app? Yes. As for my favorite app, I always find myself checking in on Reddit multiple times a day, even when mid-work.
Who would you say is the overall best person you know, and why? Angela is the most reliable person in my life. I trust her inputs on literally everything – just this morning I messaged her asking for help on how to use Carousell LOL – and apart from that she has the kindest heart and I know she'll always have my back no matter what, whether it's in the form of listening to me or calling me out when I'm on ther verge of doing something stupid.
If you had to choose between being a Nurse or an English teacher which would you choose and why? English teacher. I know I wouldn't be the best with kids/teenagers but I feel like I nevertheless have enough people skills to get by. Plus I feel like I'm okay when it comes to explaining and teaching things, so it'd work out better at least compared to being a nurse.
Do you have a specific gas station you usually go to? Or do you stop wherever? Yes, there's a specific brand I always go to. I'm not good with car stuff so I don't want to risk going to a different station and potentially going with the wrong kind of gas and damaging my car forever.
How much older than you was the oldest person you have dated/had a relationship with? I've only ever been with one person and they are my age.
Is anything stressing you out at the moment? We have a family Christmas party/reunion this weekend and I have not wrapped a single gift. I might just buy a bunch of paper bags tomorrow since there is simply no time to individually wrap everything hahaha.
What is your opinion on dating someone who already had a child/children from a previous relationship? I know it shouldn't be a problem at this age but personally speaking it might intimidate me. I'm nowhere near ready to be a mom/stepmom.
Have you ever actually found a mascara that makes a huge difference for your lashes? I don't use mascara. I like my eyelashes enough as they're naturally long already and don't really feel the need to make it look ~aesthetically pleasing~
Would you rather have one or two great facial features that stand out, or have just an overall pretty face but have no special features? I'd take the pretty face. Pretty privilege is real and can take you places.
Do you have any plans for Valentine's Day? Did you do anything last Valentine's Day? I haven't had plans for Valentine's Day in three years and don't feel the need to celebrate it alone.
Do you check your horoscope daily? If so, did you relate to your horoscope at all today? I do not believe in horoscopes.
When you need to remember something, how do you usually go about doing so? I use my Notes app and just note down a bunch of stuff in there, whether it's a dream I don't want to forget, or a random thing a client would say during a meeting that I'd need to remember. That's why I often get confused when I look through my archives haha everything lacks context.
Do you think you're a confident person? In your opinion what makes someone "confident" anyways? I'm confident in some ways, like how I feel comfortable with my own company and am not in an active search for a relationship; or how I'm always ready to bite back if a relative tries to be condescending with me (because Filipino family culture means always trying to find reasons to indirectly insult one another hahaha). But I'm also no stranger to insecurity every now and then.
How would you describe someone that is your type of guy/girl? I like someone no-nonsense, a bit on the serious side and have an air of confidence and being able to take care of themselves. Someone who tries to make jokes every 10 seconds just sounds exhausting. I also prefer a friend than setups or online dating as it's more comforting if I already know the person.
Do you read books often? What is your all time favorite book and author? I used to but stopped reading a very long time ago. I just lost the time for it at some point until eventually I also lost the passion for it. That said I never was able to find my all-time favorite book or author.
Have you recently accomplished anything that you are proud of yourself for? I've been having a difficult time coming to terms with my promotion until literally today when I encountered a Reddit thread of someone who's in the EXACT same situation – got promoted but doesn't feel like they're cut out for the job, and them feeling like they only got promoted because a couple of seniors in their workplace had just resigned, and them ultimately thinking of leaving.
I honest to god thought everyone in the thread was going to be supportive of OP resigning, but it was the complete opposite. People were raising points like "they trust you enough to promote you, make the most of it," "they've seen your past mistakes and still promoted you," "discomfort is inevitable with change, just stick with it and grow from it" and it really felt like they were talking to me. Anyway, I'm for sure still thinking of resigning but stumbling upon that has also helped me start to cope with and embrace (for now) where I'm at.
So speaking of for nows, I'll try to be proud of my biggest achievement this year which is getting promoted to director – something I literally never even strove to achieve since I only ever targeted becoming a manager.
Are you still friends with any of your exes? Do you still communicate with any of them at all? I'm not friends with her and cut off all contact the year immediately following the breakup.
What is your opinion on people that shop at Sephora for makeup as opposed to buying makeup from the drugstore? I don't care.
When you enter a store like Target or Walmart where is the first section you go? We don't have those.
Are you the type of person to fight for someone or walk away? Depends. I used to be the kind of person who would, regardless of the circumstances; but after some things I've been through I'm a little less...dedicated to people in general now.
Is marijuana legal for "recreational use" where you live? Also what is your opinion on the recent legalization of marijuana in certain states? It's not, and I don't have much of an opinion on marijuana tbh since it's never been a hot societal/cultural concern where I live.
Do you live on your own or with your parents/a roommate? Do you think you'd like to live alone? I live with my family, so that's parents and siblings. I'd love to live alone one day, but I'm not in a rush because how the hell can I live anywhere with these condo prices lol?
How often would you say you use Microsoft Word? I use it around 4-5 times a week, but I'm predominantly on Google Docs as it lets me work on files in real-time with teammates at work.
What is the last online purchase you made? Last few gifts for my sister, which includes a Spongebob pajama set and a couple of FNAF plushies. She's into so many fandoms that I just got her something from each haha. Before I checked these out I also had gotten her a few Resident Evil fanmade merch.
Do you usually have bad symptoms around "that time of the month"? I just get very emotional and feel like crying every 0.5 seconds, but as far as physical symptoms there fortunately aren't any.
Is there anyone you have to see on a daily/weekly basis that you really dislike? Not really, no.
Is your hair thick or thin? Would you say it's easy to manage? It's very thick and is quite difficult to manage, especially after I had it bleached. It's always been on the dry and frizzy side and don't think it will ever get to a healthy glowing state.
Have you ever had to deal with any type of long distance relationship, whether it be a romantic relationship or a friendship? Yes, 10 years ago I had a tight-knit group of Internet friends; we were all into wrestling and were pretty much part of the first wave of stan Twitter when it wasn't even a thing yet, lol. We slowly fizzled out when the main two people we were stanning left WWE and went off the radar for a bit.
Are you procrastinating doing anything right now? Yes. Can you believe I still have a deck to work on, so close to Christmas? This is my first December where work is still on a peak. It's gross.
How do you feel about being called sweetie/dear/honey/etc.? It's okay as long as it doesn't come from a man who's being disgusting.
Have you ever had a thing for/relationship with a coworker? How did it end? Never have. Seems a little irresponsible to me.
What type of deodorant do you use? Do you notice any difference between powders and gels? I have a local brand and I've never used powder so I can't compare.
What would you say is your worst habit? Peeling off nails. I've gotten more than one bleeding nailbed because of this.
Do you have a place you go to a lot that you may be considered "a regular" at? Not a restaurant, but I guess the FamilyMart below our office? They already know what kind of coffee I get hahaha.
Do you ever read the articles posted on the home page of Xanga? Has there ever been one that has really stood out to you? I was never on Xanga.
What is the weather currently like where you live? It's sunny and it's started to get cold on mornings and late evenings, but the afternoons are still brutal. I suppose it won't get Christmas-cold until January.
Is there anyone that you text on a regular basis that you do not have saved in your phone? If so, why don't you have their number saved? My mom. I just never saved it before and now it's always just been her number hahaha, and I don't feel like changing it anymore.
Do you have any plans for Mardi Gras? No.

What are your headcanons dynamics in Byrgen class? Who was the smartest? Who was the president in the class. Who skipped classes? Who hated each other? Who was teacher's pet? Who allowed to copy their homework. I'm running out of questions but please do free form and share everything
OH!!! 👀 a question About the Byrgenwerth squad ?! For real!!!! Oh thank you!! I sure wanna talk about them quite a lot!
When I first got into bloodborne the first stories I imagined were about Byrgenwerth and all this little gang! Or like my friend Crow would call them… Willem’s lil troop (of future mass murderers and mentally ill people). My first multi chap fic about bloodborne that I’m trying to write is focus on the Byrgenwerth era too! So it would probably be more develop here in the very long run (writing is hard  Maria is not even at Byrgenwerth yet lmao💀) but I will still try to answer and put what I can think off here!
I did talk about a few characters individually too so it could give a few infos but let’s go class dynamics!
But first here’s the list of who I imagined was at Byrgenwerth at that time.
As students: Caryll, Maria, Ludwig, Rom, Micolash, Damian (above class from them) & Charles (Cainhurst oc, above class) oh and the future forgotten madman and his escort.
Laurence is their theology and physiology teacher but he had a few class a few years earlier alongside Gehrman XD
Gehrman, Dores & Liam : groundskeeper, graveyard and mr gatekeeper (the guy with the password). Ok Dores is super scary but if she likes you it's really good👍
Patches is a janitor who will eventually become a scholar after our favs students graduated. (He shouldn't be here in the first place XD)
and of course there’s Willem the provost, the headmaster.
The other characters I won’t cited are either not around to not born yet. Or not relevant for now.
I think Byrgenwerth is kinda an university so even if they have many classes not just in an amphitheater with hundred of students they can have classes with 20-40 students but it’s never the same ones depending the subject teach and the options of everyone. Yet there’s a few class when they can all be together x) so I don’t think they would had a class president? Idk I didn’t thought about it they probably had a representative. I guess Ludwig could make a great representative of the students? Idk
Ok so for the homework I did this meme a while ago XD
Tumblr media
For the rest let’s start with Gehrman and Laurence who had a few classes together. Not lying I see Laurence trying to stay serious in front of the teachers (because he kinda live with Willem since a few years) but being absolutely a clown class actually XD  don’t listen all the time, skipped class, party hard and all at the beginning! Still he helped Gehrman when he had difficulties and he helped Laurence back by providing emotional support when he didn’t feel well.
But hey he graduated become a teacher and is doing a doctorate so hey believed in your dreams XD
Now for the others. Smartest, I would say Caryll I think. A gifted child who skip at least one year (before Byrgen). They have an ability to understand things that is quite remarquable and really surprising. I mean they translated the runes! People have no idea how that make sense to them. Lil guy of the group everyone loved him. If your mean to them everyone is gonna kick your ass.
Poor Rom on the contrary is no really smart 😢 still she work really hard and try helped by her friends! + she have tons of knowledge on insects. Not useful all the times but when smn have a bug in room they always call Rom to help them XD
Those two could be the teacher pets too (Micolash tries too XD). Like I said everyone loves Caryll and Rom is basically Willem’s daughter in my headcanon.
Maria is also quite smart in a lot of subject (thanks Cainhurst eduction and her grand curiosity). She didn’t really had friends at the beginning, for some reason people didn’t like her and she hate to stay with the rich kids from cainhurst & other noble family (except like 1 or 2) that changed thankfully.
For Ludwig I think he would be average in most of the class yet maybe really good in a precise field.
Mico probably think he’s smarter than everyone XD sometime.
Damian he’s kinda the most normal students ever who’s tired of everything else the other get in trouble with..
About Charles now, an oc I created (but fit in the lore it’s a secret shhh) he have ties with Cainhurst and know Maria, Annalise and all since little. He’s in an upper class (he’s older like Damian) kinda the cool popular guy who tried not to cause to much trouble but still a little. Do a lot of party with the « cool annoying kids » you know u_u still he’s better than them XD from Maria saying. Always been here if she needed help.
Omg Caryll Maria and Ludwig dynamic can be resumed like this :
Laurence : why when something happened it’s always you 3.
Tumblr media
They got in trouble with eldritch entities while trying to train to go tomb prospecting it’s not their fault! XD
See those drawings too.
They were supposed to train with Dores & Gehrman to go tomb prospecting and… It end well I swear XD
About the. Future forgotten madman & escort this 2 are always together and get into troubles quite often.
Other dynamics :
Gehrman is like the big brother of the group. I don’t wanna hear other wise. That made him really anxious but at least he had a purpose and smt else to do with his life ❤️ babysit 7 crazy scholars is hard yes. But he’s crazier actually so idk what’s worse really.
Also he’s supposed to guard the campus at night but can’t bring himself to be to angry at students who don’t respect the rules XD he did lecture for 2-5mins future forgotten madman & escort because they came back from the forest and climb a wall or smt XD but hey Caryll is allowed to stare at the lake at like 2am because they can’t sleep no problem XD Gehrman do the same to so smt they talk a bit!
Caryll & Rom : they share a braincells. Either they don’t understand what the hell is going on or they’re enlightened with knowledge.
Rom & Caryll & Maria really get along well! The more calm little group too (Yes the 3 boys= Ludwig Mico & Damian are more messy and loud for exemple)
Maria & Ludwig : ok so this one is funny, I hc Ludwig is coming from a rich family. And I was inspired by a few fics where they had class together and Ludwig wonder if she can stand him or not but actually she sit next to him because well she do stand him XD
I imagined not long ago how they become friend kinda! You see they had prospector training & a few class together but don’t really talk a lot. Then they got invited to the cool kids party in Yharnam; Problem : because of some « incidents » in the pthumerians labyrinth there’s a curfew at Byrgenwerth. So they need to came back not too late. «Yeah we’ll call a carriage for the ones who got back ! » they didn’t call a carriage.
So you got Maria and Ludwig who decided to return at Byrgenwerth in the middle of the night and having a lil walk in the forest. They don’t really have the choice and it’s better to not go alone so they do the route together. It’s a bit awkward at first but they begin to talk and all. They got along well. They arrived late of course. Ludwig thought Gehrman was going to freaking yell at them or smt (he didn’t know him well and the groundskeeper is intimidating at first) but no, he just told them to be more careful or they could get into trouble x)
Yeah thankfully Maria was already friend with him XD kinda become friends the same way he became friends with Laurence but anyway… (he tried to plant flowers heh asks her opinion on it and she explain a few stuff in botany XD) also they just casually went hunting in the woods on day XD yes prospector training ahaha
To get back to Ludwig and Maria, on their 2nd year at Byrgenwerth she bring her horse and she allowed Ludwig to pass some time with him go and ride and all. Ludwig show her an old picture of the pony he had when he was a kid. On group project either they get to excited and fail XD but succeed the 2nd time generally.
Mico & Rom and Damian : almost inseparable. The 2 boys kinda assign themself at her best friends/bodyguard or smt XD
And you can be sure Mico & Maria would argue a lot if they had a chemical exercice to do together or smt.
And what about them all together as a group dynamic hm? Well either they're genius or a mess XD yep they end up in danger. Again. During prom night!!! Gasp :O
And in last, sometimes there’s free (class) conferences held by Willem or other teachers and they can all assist to it! Yes even Gehrman and Laurence. It’s quite fun x) Quite a mess but fun.
Hope you enjoy! I probably forgot a few things but I hope it will do for now. It’s hm more focus on and the students first & beginning of the 2nd years/5 at Byrgenwerth of the students too. Sorry for the lil delay too last days were a bit busy!

I don't know if you remember it, but on my first day in this school, I said it was important for me that my students were honest with me. It's been more than two years, but nothing has changed since then. Maybe it sounds sentimental, but I've become a teacher not only for the reason I like history. If it were so, I would keep working at the museum.
I've become the one, because teaching allows me to use an individual approach to each of my students and I have always strived to communicate with other people so as to be helpful to them. And you know, the fact I managed to help you as a boy who had misunderstandings with his father means a lot more to me than that you got the highest score among your classmates for the latest history test. Although I won't deny it's actually a nice thing as well.
~Valerio Álvarez
***
Valerio is a history school teacher. At first glance he seems like a very warm, outgoing, optimistic, and kind person, and he is. The main reason he’s become a teacher is because he’s always strived to inspire other people, guide them, help them to fulfill their potential, and see themselves from the best perspective possible, and his gift for understanding other people’s feelings helps him in that.
Valerio is wise, open-minded, innovative, adventurous, and curious as he sees the world as a tight knot of wonders and meanings. He travelled a lot, and one of the purposes of his adventures was not only understand himself better but also to discover the new things and learn something new. He’s responsible, good at planning, and prefers sticking to the schedule.
Sounds too perfect, doesn’t it? Unless you learn about his past. It’s veiled in mystery, and to put it literally he wears gloves to hide his hands that are covered with the burn scars (he has them all over his body) that he's gotten as a result of the fire accident (or maybe it wasn't an accident?). But he doesn’t hide his scars, he hides how he got them, since in his past he’s done something that he’s absolutely ashamed of and doesn’t want anyone to know it. He’s afraid of anyone revealing his secret, and once anybody gets close enough to expose it, his dark side comes out.
He’s indecisive, unyielding, and prideful as he never listens to anyone’s advice and thinks he knows better what to do. The fact he’s good at reading people helps him to inspire them, but it also helps him to play with their feelings to direct them against themselves - he’s manipulative.
Although to soften the edges, Valerio is also scared of being a burden, which makes him keep his feelings to himself to the point of exhaustion, because he doesn’t want to bother anyone with his problems and also because he’s deeply attached to people. He had a close relationship with his late mother and late wife, and when he lost them, those periods of his life were the most directionless to him because he didn’t know what to do and who he was without them.
The main ideas I want to convey through his character:
A character with the dark past who tries to stay positive and kind to others.
A character stuck in his past but from a bit different perspective: he’s not captured by the thoughts about his past - he ignores his past and runs away from his fears, which doesn’t allow him to accept it and move forward.
A character who strives to help others but is damaged himself.
His hobbies include history, painting, and chess. He’s also into attending exhibitions and galleries and used to write poetry. He has a deep passion for the sea and sailing (especially when he was younger) since he was born in a city near the ocean and could spend his all days swimming and playing beach games.
His appearance is also worth mentioning. When he was younger, he had long hair, loved jewelry, and preferred wearing loose shirts, as he was a lively, cheerful, and adventurous guy. Once he got older, went through trauma, and lost basically everyone he loved, his preferences changed. His main color is black now, he wears gloves on daily basis and buttons his shirt up to the top button to prevent anyone from seeing his scars. It might make him seem like a distant and aloof person if you randomly meet him on the street but this image crashes as soon as he starts talking, given how warm and outgoing he is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bonus!
A little writing piece I made for him but never shared until now haha. I think it's good for the vibes~
Valerio is the sun covered by clouds. He keeps shining, breaking through the dark cold veil to warm everyone with his soft rays.
Valerio is a candle left without control. A harmless gleam sparkling into an indomitable fire.
Valerio is a whirlpool. The meeting of conflicting currents raging from deep within as nobody can see it on the surface.
Valerio is an eagle. A proud majestic being in need to spread his broken wings to fly high.

Why You Should Be Your Own Guru (Practical Advice for Anyone): a short message on the importance of trusting your own heart
It makes me pretty sad when I see people who instruct people in ways to improve their lives, but in ways that cause a dependency on their teachings. Never align with anyone like this. It's very harmful to you. And it's more common than you think. I was always reasonably critical of my teachers and professors for this reason. Being a teacher is a very sacred position (and at the same time, we are all teachers and students & all is our teacher and student). So, it's very important never to introduce manipulation or negative intentions into the equation.
I can make it a bit more practical of an understanding...
Let's say that you are following the advice of a nutrition/health coach, a spiritual or religious teacher, a life coach, a manifestation instructor, a political figure, a boss, a coworker, an academic teacher, a yoga instructor, a physician, a manager, a therapist, even a partner, friend, or relative. You receive their advice because it sounds like the results will be promising, or you'd like to see if the outcome is favorable. And you notice overtime that the advice is very strict and makes you feel small or helpless without it. (But it's very easy to ignore this feeling anyway). Examples of this would be: an expressed need to follow their exact words, strict orders to stop listening to your own instincts, making you feel afraid of the repercussions of ever setting aside their teachings (as if something dangerous would happen to you right that second😂), totally disrespecting other belief systems, and disallowing you to find your own wisdom. You may thinking that this sounds similar to what people says about cults -- yes, this is the tactic used by institutions. It's used also by individuals who (don't) *particularly* mean to abuse or traumatize. Nevertheless, it will stop you from feeling free. These kinds of instructions are not really done in love. Love would let you feel free...

i live for life.
i live for the way the sun comes through my window in the morning, traveling through my suncatcher and spreading rainbows on all the things i put in here to make it finally, maybe feel like home.
i live for the little kid who laughs as she plays a game in karate, even though when she first started she was so shy she wouldn't even touch the punching bag i held out for her until the very end of class.
i live for my russian teacher, who knew me for five minutes and decided to dedicate her time to teaching a nervous teenager how to speak a foreign language.
i live for the boy i dated who complimented my legs while i was ranting about getting dress coded for wearing shorts on a day i was finally feeling confident, who's messing his life up somewhere far away now. i hope he turns out alright.
i live for the time my friend told me he's not even sure i exist, further adding evidence to the fact i might be some sort of cryptid or celestial being or something. you decide.
i live for the friends who drag me kicking and screaming into their friend groups, who are crazy and who show me so much love. i would do anything for them.
i live for my online friends, who saw me and thought i was cool. who tell me about their problems. i always listen, because dammit, these people deserve the best. i'll do anything for them too.
i live for the crows that always seem to follow me on my walks, for the birds i hear at 2am when i finally go to sleep. why the fuck are you still awake you lovely weirdos?
i live for the girl who tapped on my shoulder during lunch one day to compliment my dress, and when i turned around, said, "oh my gosh your eyes are so pretty." she was pretty too.
i live for the people who thought i was weird, who excluded me when i tried to make "normal" friends. for the people who judge me for my bullshit.
i live for the art i draw. for the art i see. for all the sketchbooks and wips and leetle doodles my friends have felt comfortable enough to show me. they're all beautiful. if someone gives me a drawing, i tape it to my wall. there are so many.
i live for the music i hear. every lyric sung. every note played. every single song i listen to and sing and obsess over. the earworms that drive me mad at all hours of the day.
i live for plants. those little fuckers grow everywhere. i wonder what would happen if we tried to plant one on mars. it would probably die, but fuck, it would try to grow. half the grass outside is dead right now. but there are flowers. dandelions. clovers. roses.
i live for animals. watching a dog chase its tail. watching a cat as it tries to catch a laser. a snake slithering across the arena while i'm trying to ride a horse. horses are majestic.
i live for people. everyone has a wonderful soul, and a wonderful brain, all encased in a fleshbag with other little bags inside of it. the human body is fucking crazy man. it all works together to make an individual. all 8 million people on this earth are their own individual. no-one is completely the same as someone else. isn't that crazy?!
i live for rocks. shiny ones, dull ones. geodes are pretty. i also like sliced rocks. diamonds are formed through millions of years of pressure and heat. emeralds are so pretty; they're the rarest.
i live for every single thing on this planet. every little thing that makes up one big thing. there are bad things. it hurts my heart. some days, i don't want to get up. but i'm alive. God decided i get to wake up today, so i'm going to do it. i'm going to get up and do something. even if that something is get some water, put on my flower crown, and sit back down. because there are so many things here, so many people. so many souls, constantly changing this world for the better. simply by being themselves.
I LIVE. FOR LIFE. FOR EVERYTHING.

Pisces is a dreamy, imaginative sign, and when Saturn is in Pisces, those dreams become more concrete and achievable.
They’re the kind of people who have a clear vision of what they want in a relationship, and they won’t settle for anything less.

The Mature Lover
Saturn is often associated with maturity and responsibility, and when it’s in Pisces, these individuals take these values into their romantic relationships.

Pisces Saturn – Career And Money
creative impulses
With Saturn in Pisces, they are often guided by their dreams into their chosen career paths.
They may be drawn to artistic or humanitarian careers, where they can use their imagination and empathy for others.
However, they may struggle with the practicalities of day-to-day work and may need to learn to balance their creative impulses with discipline and structure.
The Spiritual Seeker
Those with Saturn in Pisces often have a strong connection to their spiritual beliefs and may be drawn to careers that allow them to explore this further.
They may find themselves working in fields such as counseling, therapy, or even astrology, where they can help others on their own spiritual journeys.
However, they may also face challenges in finding financial stability in these fields and may need to learn to balance their spiritual pursuits with practical financial planning.
The Risk Taker
Saturn in Pisces can also lead to a tendency to take risks in financial matters.
They may have a natural inclination to follow their intuition and take bold chances, whether it’s investing in the stock market or starting their own business.
While this can sometimes lead to financial success, it can also lead to major losses if they don’t learn to balance their impulses with practical planning and research.
The Empath
Those with Saturn in Pisces often have a deep sense of empathy for others, which can make them excellent listeners and counselors.
However, this same empathy can also make them vulnerable to financial exploitation and scams, as they may prioritize helping others over protecting their own finances.
They may need to learn to set boundaries and prioritize their own financial well-being in order to avoid being taken advantage of.
The Visionary
Ultimately, Saturn in Pisces can be a powerful force for good in the world if they learn to channel their dreams and imagination into practical action.
They have the potential to be great visionaries, bringing innovative solutions to complex problems and inspiring others with their creativity.
However, they may need to work on developing the discipline and structure necessary to turn their dreams into reality.
Final Thoughts
If you’ve got this placement, you’re probably a bit of a dreamer, and that’s totally okay.
But beware, because Saturn is here to slap you back into reality every now and then.
You might struggle with setting boundaries and standing up for yourself, but trust me, it’s important to learn.
With this knowledge, you can work on being more assertive in your relationships and avoiding getting walked all over like a welcome mat.
Remember, dreams are great, but sometimes you gotta wake up and make them a reality.

This guide will take you through everything you need to know to choose the best IELTS institute in Delhi tailored to your needs and aspirations. Let’s dive in!
The Importance of Choosing the Right IELTS Institute
Choosing the right IELTS institute sets the stage for your exam success. With proper guidance, you can enhance your skills in listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
An effective institute will provide a structured curriculum that aligns with exam patterns. This familiarity helps reduce anxiety on test day.
Moreover, experienced instructors play a pivotal role in shaping your preparation journey. They offer insights into common pitfalls and strategies to tackle them effectively.
The learning environment also matters. A supportive atmosphere fosters motivation and encourages active participation among students.
When you select an institute that prioritizes individual growth, you’re more likely to achieve your target score while building confidence along the way. Embracing this choice can make all the difference in realizing your dreams of studying or working abroad.
Researching Different IELTS Institutes in Delhi
Researching different IELTS institutes in Delhi requires a strategic approach. Start by listing potential options in your area. This gives you a solid foundation to explore further.
Next, dive into their websites and social media pages. Look for information about course offerings, faculty qualifications, and student resources. A strong online presence often reflects the institute’s engagement with students.
Don’t overlook forums and educational platforms where current or former students share their experiences. Their insights can provide valuable context that isn’t always available on official sites.
Additionally, consider attending free workshops or seminars offered by these institutes. It’s an excellent way to gauge teaching styles and interact with instructors before making a commitment.
Keep an eye out for any accreditation or partnerships they may have with international organizations. This could indicate the quality of training provided at the institute.
Factors to Consider When Choosing an Institute
When selecting the best IELTS institute in Delhi, several factors come into play. First, assess the curriculum. A well-structured program that covers all four sections of the IELTS exam is essential for comprehensive preparation.
Next, consider the qualifications of instructors. Experienced teachers can provide valuable insights and strategies to tackle different question types effectively. Their expertise can significantly enhance your learning experience.
It’s also important to look at class sizes. Smaller groups often mean more personalized attention and better interaction with educators, which can lead to improved outcomes.
Think about additional support services offered by the institute. Whether it’s mock tests or individual feedback sessions, these resources can be crucial in tracking your progress and improving your scores over time.
Location and Facilities
Location plays a vital role when selecting the best IELTS institute in Delhi. Proximity to public transport can save you time and reduce daily commuting stress. Look for institutes near metro stations or bus stops for easy access.
Facilities also matter significantly. A well-equipped learning environment enhances your study experience. Classrooms should be spacious, comfortable, and conducive to learning.
Check if the institute has libraries or resource centers filled with relevant materials. Access to technology like computers and audio-visual aids can boost your preparation process as well.
Additional amenities such as student lounges or cafes provide a space for relaxation between classes. These factors contribute not just to education but also to overall student satisfaction during your IELTS journey.
Teaching Methods and Resources
Teaching methods play a crucial role in how effectively you grasp the IELTS material. Look for institutes that use a mix of traditional and modern techniques. Interactive classes can enhance your learning experience.
Resources are equally important. The best IELTS institute in Delhi should offer up-to-date study materials, practice tests, and online resources. Access to comprehensive libraries or digital platforms can significantly aid your preparation.
Moreover, experienced instructors who adapt their teaching styles to suit individual student needs make a difference. This personalized approach ensures that all areas — reading, writing, listening, and speaking — are addressed thoroughly.
Group activities and mock exams also foster a collaborative environment while preparing you for real test conditions. Engaging with peers can boost motivation and provide diverse perspectives on challenging topics.
Reviews and Feedback from Previous Students
Reviews and feedback from previous students offer valuable insights when searching for the best IELTS institute in Delhi. These testimonials can reveal a lot about the quality of teaching, course structure, and overall student experience.
Look for genuine reviews on multiple platforms. Social media pages, educational forums, and Google reviews can provide diverse perspectives. Pay attention to comments regarding specific instructors or teaching methods.
Moreover, consider reaching out to former students directly if possible. Their firsthand experiences can highlight strengths or weaknesses not captured in online reviews.
In addition to ratings, look for details that resonate with your personal learning style. Each student’s journey is unique; understanding their challenges can help you gauge how well an institute might meet your needs.
Cost and Value for Money
When selecting the best IELTS institute in Delhi, cost is a significant factor. However, it’s essential to look beyond just the price tag. A higher fee doesn’t always guarantee superior quality.
Evaluate what you get for your investment. Some institutes may offer comprehensive study materials, personalized feedback, and mock tests included in their packages. Others might charge less but provide minimal resources.
Consider additional costs too — like extra classes or exam fees — to get a complete picture of your financial commitment.
It’s wise to seek out value rather than simply affordability. Look for institutes that balance competitive pricing with high-quality instruction and support services.
Investing wisely can lead to better preparation and ultimately improved scores on the IELTS test, which can open doors for education and career opportunities abroad.
Personalized Guidance and Support
Personalized guidance can make a significant difference in your IELTS preparation. Every student has unique strengths and weaknesses. An institute that recognizes this will tailor its approach to meet individual needs.
Look for programs that offer one-on-one sessions with experienced instructors. These personalized interactions provide targeted feedback, helping you understand where to focus your efforts.
Support doesn’t stop at classes. Institutes should also provide resources like study plans and practice materials tailored to your learning style. This ensures you’re not just following a generic curriculum but rather progressing effectively toward your goals.
Additionally, consider institutes that offer mentorship or counseling services. Emotional support throughout the preparation journey is invaluable, especially as exam day approaches. A supportive environment encourages confidence and keeps motivation high during challenging times.
Choosing an institute that prioritizes personalized attention can set you on the path to success in achieving your desired IELTS score.
Conclusion: Finding the Perfect IELTS Institute in Delhi
Choosing the right IELTS institute in Delhi is a pivotal step on your journey to success. With so many options available, it’s essential to take the time to research and consider various factors that will impact your learning experience.
Start by looking into different institutes and understanding their unique offerings. Pay attention to location, as convenience can significantly influence your motivation. Evaluate the facilities provided and ensure they align with your study preferences.
Teaching methods play an essential role in how effectively you learn. Look for institutes that utilize modern resources and interactive sessions, which can enhance engagement. Gathering reviews from previous students gives insight into what you might expect from an institute’s teaching quality and overall environment.
Cost is another important factor; however, don’t just focus on finding the cheapest option. Consider value for money — what services are included in the fees? Personalized guidance can make a significant difference when preparing for such an important exam, so seek out institutions that offer tailored support based on individual needs.
Finding the perfect IELTS institute means aligning all these elements with your personal goals and preferences. Take your time making this decision; it’s worth investing effort upfront to secure a brighter future ahead in academics or career abroad.
