Irondad fic ideas #141
Fic where Peter gets outed as Tony's kid (bio, emotional, adopted, etc) but from Ned's perspective
What is that day at school like? Do classmates swarm him or mostly keep ignoring him? Does he get followed by paparazzi outside of school? What do his teachers say? What kinds of questions do people ask? What articles or social media crap does Ned read?
Also, how would it feel to witness the aftermath of Peter's inevitable breakdown ("why would The Tony Stark ever want me to be seen as his son" and/or "every father figure I have dies") and Tony's equally inevitable breakdown reassurance ("why would YOU Peter Parker ever want ME to be seen as YOUR dad" / "I'll be fine hush it's okay you're stuck with me now") -- from the outside? Like, what would those phone calls with Peter be like?

general election clashing with major medievalist conferences etc means essentially everybody i know is going to have to postal vote this one, gonna be a weird vibe, suspect the Leeds crowd might have a decent party going though

In the current climate of copycat acts signed because they sound like the last big thing, Muse should be cherished. The band have found success and—latterly—credibility without having to compromise their music or their ideas. People don't compare Muse to Radiohead anymore. As [Dominic] Howard says: "No one else is making music like we are and we're not making music like anyone else.
"We didn't peak early with this band," he continues. "It's always been a slow, steady evolution. But it feels like we're always stepping up and pushing on. I've always been happy about existing on the fringes of the mainstream. But I'm more happy about it than ever now."
Muse might have proved themselves worthy of headlining any festival and won the critics over, but one thing hasn't changed since their Teignmouth days. "We're still outsiders," Bellamy agrees, with his customary assurance. "And that makes us feel absolutely untouchable."
——————
I like this interview very much. Muse talk about quietly (noisily!) working away, tinkering with their sound, outside the harsher light that some acts associated with music ‘scenes’ had to contend with, with magazines and fans clinging to a particular sound because it sounded like something that was happening at the time: a scene. This was around the time some magazines would begin to call them the ‘world’s most anonymous stadium rockstars’, and indeed, not having a question thrown their way every time they tried anything new certainly helped their sound evolve!
Muse: ‘We Blew Them All Off The Stage’, The Independent, September 2006

Sooooo today I fucked up good and proper
mixed up my train times and missed my train to Oxford ahead of All In tomorrow (we're meeting my brother and his boyfriend there and driving in tomorrow)
pretty upsetting but not insurmountable
except as a result of
Train strikes
Rail works at Peterborough
Bank holiday weekend in August
there are literally No public transport options connecting Edinburgh to anywhere south of Doncaster which arrive before 7am tomorrow morning
upshot is I am currently on a 3hr train to Doncaster. This will hopefully take me to 1.5hr bus to Sheffield. where my brother's FUCKING AMAZING PARTNER HOLY SHIT CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS GUY will drive 3 hours from Oxford, pick me up and take me home. with luck before midnight. before they get up tomorrow to drive us all to London.
I don't remember what I got them for Christmas last year but it was NOT A NICE ENOUGH GIFT like fuck me!!!! that's such a nice thing to do!!!!!!!!! they're my new favourite family member. 11/10

MY HEARTTTT
“You’re actually asking stuff from me. Back when we first started this whole mentorship thing you would have rather jumped off a Quinjet than asked me for anything. I’m glad we’re past that, is all. That you’re comfortable enough to do that.”
“Oh, I didn’t - I don’t - want you to think I’m taking advantage or-”
“What’s wrong with taking some advantage of the fact that you have the actual Tony Stark?” Tony grins cockily, ruffling the kid’s hair.
“But it’s not about the things that you can offer me! If you lost everything tomorrow, I would still keep coming to you, because of you , because you ’re important to me!” Peter presses on, like it’s very important to him that Tony understands that, and Tony’s chest swells with warmth.
“I know, kiddo. Love you too.”

Mr Stark Enough For You? (another field trip fic bcs we dont have enough) (7054 words) by Livinei Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) Rating: Not Rated Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Peter Parker & Tony Stark, May Parker (Spider-Man) & Peter Parker, Ned Leeds & Peter Parker Characters: Peter Parker, Tony Stark, May Parker (Spider-Man), Ned Leeds, Flash Thompson, and peter's whole class tbh, Pepper Potts Additional Tags: Tony Stark Acting as Peter Parker's Parental Figure, Father-Son Relationship, Bullying, Not Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 (Movie) Compliant, Precious Peter Parker, Field Trip, field trip to stark industries, Tony Stark Has A Heart, Found Family, a field trip fic in which pete isnt Panicky but not thrilled either, NOW WITH ADDED ENDING NOTES, just a little fun extra dialogue Summary: Peter isn’t worried because he thinks Tony won’t say yes, he’s worried because he’s sure Tony will. And he’s not sure how he feels about having his entire class waltzing around the place where he spends practically more time than in his own home, where he has his own room, and where he regularly eats Lucky Charms with one of the most influential men in the country, in his pajamas. Not that they’d ever know any of that. Tour groups don’t go to the living quarters of the Tower anyways, they hardly ever go past the 50th floor, Peter knows that. And it isn’t fair to his class if he doesn’t ask just because he…spends a lot of time there? Yeah, Peter sighs, he has to ask. He promised, anyways. IT'S A FIELD TRIP FIC, WE LOVE THOSE
