It's been a long time coming...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: this is my first request in absolutely ages so tysm you have made my day ✨❣️ As I am now unemployed (😜✌️) i have a lot of free time before i head back to university. So please if anyone has any ideas lmk 🥹
Inspo: Jude and You have been close friends since high school, but after one very drunken night, you admit your feelings for him, right before he leaves for the euro's. When Jude arrives home, he has only one goal, to give you that kiss that you've been waiting for.
Oh, you had royally fucked up.
So royally fucked up that you probably shouldn’t leave the house for at least the next two days, perhaps a week, even a month.
You’d told your best friend that you liked him, in a sweaty club, the night before he was going to the Euros. With the drink loosening your tongue, you blurted it out without thinking. The look on his face said it all; he was stunned into silence.
You and Jude had known each other since high school. He was in the year above you, but you both shared a huge interest in football. While he played for the boys’ squad, you played for the girls’. You got really close in the last year of high school as he began prepping for the under-21s football team while you were preparing for university. You became each other’s anchor, someone you both could rely on, no matter how tough it got. You told each other absolutely everything. So when you blurted out that you liked him, it was as if you had shattered an unspoken rule.
You had been drunk. That was the justification you were giving. You didn’t know what you were thinking; you couldn’t control what was going through your head. You couldn’t face him, not now. The memory of his expression replayed in your mind, a painful reminder.
You had sent him one text message, mentioning nothing about the incident, just wishing him luck in the Euros. Maybe he’d just forget it even happened. After all, he was pretty drunk too.
You had spent all morning preoccupying yourself with your uni work, taking the dog out for a walk, cleaning your room… basically anything to distract from the impending apocalypse. But it was pointless; every other second, you would check the blue tick on the message, with a simple “read” underneath it.
Hey, I hope the head isn’t too sore from last night ahaha. Best of luck in the Euros, I’ll be screaming your name at the local, love ya. (Read)
His response came about three hours later. In that time, you had gone through all five stages of grief. First, Denial: you denied that you even told him, that it was a huge mistake. Anger: you were angry that no one stopped you, as it was an open secret between all of your friends but him, but they had let you blurt it out. Bargaining: maybe it wouldn’t be so bad, you know. You could just say it was a mistake or you didn’t remember. Depression: this would be the end of your friendship—that he’d no longer look at you the same way ever again. Acceptance: your life was doomed, and that was the end of it. However, when his response came, you hadn’t actually prepared yourself.
Yeah, my head’s fine ahaha, though I think you drank more than me in the end. Currently on the way to the airport, Trent says hi. Pretty nervous about the Euros, I can’t lie.
You sat there staring at the three dots, wondering what else he was thinking. You cringed at him mentioning your drunkenness. He not only knew but he must’ve remembered. Oh god, this was going to be awkward.
You didn’t respond, noticing the frequent three dots on his screen going rapidly on and off. Sighing, you attempted to make a joke, quickly sending back a response.
I’m sure Trent is feeling it right now ahaha, how many shots did he have last night again? Don’t be nervous, you’ll be ace!
His reply came almost instantly.
Enough to need a new liver, I’m sure. Thanks for the vote of confidence. We’re about to board, talk later?
You couldn’t help but feel relieved. He wasn’t addressing your confession at all. Maybe he really had chosen to forget about it. Or perhaps he was giving you a way out, a chance to pretend it never happened. Either way, you seized the opportunity.
Sure, have a safe flight! Catch you later.
With that, you put your phone down and took a deep breath. Maybe this wouldn’t ruin everything after all. For now, you’d focus on the positives: Jude was still talking to you, and you still had your friendship, even if it was a little shaken.
The next couple of days were a whirlwind of activity. Jude was swamped with training and media commitments, so your interactions were mostly confined to texts. Despite the busyness, he made sure to check in frequently, sending you updates and little messages that kept the connection alive.
After the Slovakia game, which they won in a nail-biting finish, you received a call from Jude. You could hear the adrenaline in his voice, the excitement of the victory still fresh.
“Hey,” he said, a little breathless. “Did you see the game?”
“Of course I did! You were amazing! That last-minute goal!" you replied, unable to hide the pride in your voice.
“Thanks. It felt good out there tonight. The fans were crazy. Nearly thought we were goners—"
"Nah, I knew you'd pull through."
"Really?" His voice sounded hopeful, as if he had more to say, but instead, he coughed and continued talking. "Uh, listen, there is something I need to talk to you about.”
Your heart skipped a beat. “Okay, what’s up?”
“I haven’t stopped thinking about what you said."
"What I said? When?" you responded, your heart beating faster by the minute.
"The night before I went, about you liking me. I thought I could just put it aside and focus on the tournament, but… I can’t.”
You swallowed hard, your heart pounding in your chest. “Jude…”
“No, let me finish,” he interrupted gently. “I’ve been trying to figure out how I feel. And the truth is, I like you too."
Tears pricked at your eyes. “Really?”
“Yeah. I hope you don't mind, but I told Dec and Trent, and after they completely humbled me, they made me realize—I think I've always had a bit of a thing for you. It’s just… I don’t want to mess this up. I don’t want to lose what we have.”
“You won’t,” you said, your voice trembling slightly. “We’ll figure it out together. One step at a time.”
There was a moment of silence, then Jude let out a breath. “Okay. One step at a time. I like the sound of that.”
For the rest of the night, you talked about everything and nothing, letting the conversation flow naturally. The tension from the confession began to dissipate, replaced by a sense of hope and excitement.
The next game was against Switzerland, and you decided to go out to the pub to watch it with a couple of your pals. The place was buzzing with excitement, filled with fans donning jerseys and scarves, and the energy was infectious. As the match began, you found yourself nervously scanning the screen for Jude, your eyes automatically seeking him out every few seconds.
Your friends, of course, noticed.
“Honestly, if you stare any harder, you might burn a hole through the screen,” teased Sarah, nudging you playfully.
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help the blush that crept up your cheeks. “I’m just… making sure he’s doing okay.”
“Sure, just making sure,” Mark chimed in with a grin. “We all know you’re head over heels.”
“Guys, can we please just focus on the game?” you said, though you couldn’t help but smile.
As the match progressed, every time Jude touched the ball, your heart seemed to leap into your throat. You could hear your friends’ comments in the background, teasing you about how intently you were watching him.
“There he is again, Y/N! Are you taking notes on his every move?” Sarah laughed.
“Come on, give her a break. She’s just a supportive friend,” Mark added, though his tone was dripping with sarcasm.
You tried to ignore them, but the truth was, they weren’t entirely wrong. You were more invested in Jude’s performance than anything else. When he made a particularly brilliant pass, you couldn’t help but cheer louder than anyone else.
“Wow, you’ve got it bad,” Sarah remarked, shaking her head in amusement.
The game was intense, with both teams playing aggressively. Jude was in top form, making crucial plays and demonstrating why he was such an asset to the team. As the game neared its end, with the score tied, the tension in the pub was palpable.
Just then, your phone buzzed with a message from Jude.
Jude: Gaffer gave us 5 minutes, couldn't wait any longer to not text you.
You: What are you doing?! You're supposed to be on the pitch.
Jude: I think this is going to penalties, I feel it.
You quickly typed back, trying to infuse your message with as much confidence as you could muster.
You: Don’t worry, you’ve got this. I believe in you.
There was a brief pause before his next message came through.
Jude: Listen, how about this: if we win, I’ll take you out on a date.
Your breath caught in your throat, and you stared at the screen, rereading his words. A date. With Jude. Your heart was racing now for an entirely different reason.
You: Deal.
The penalties were agonizing to watch. Each kick, each save, each miss, had the entire pub reacting in unison—groans of despair, cheers of relief, gasps of anticipation. You were barely breathing, your eyes fixed on the screen as if willing the ball into the net with sheer force of will.
Jude stepped up to take his shot. The pub fell silent. You could almost hear your own heartbeat. He took a deep breath, ran up, and kicked. The ball sailed past the goalkeeper and into the net. The pub erupted in cheers, and you jumped up, your shout of triumph mingling with everyone else’s.
The penalties continued, and finally, it came down to Trent. The pressure was immense. If he scored, England would win.
The pub fell silent again as Trent prepared for his shot. You could feel the tension in the air, your heart pounding louder than ever. He took his position, focused, ran up, and kicked. The ball flew towards the goal, past the goalkeeper, and hit the back of the net.
The pub exploded in cheers. People were hugging, high-fiving, and celebrating. You couldn’t believe it. They had done it.
Your phone buzzed again.
Jude: We did it! Can’t believe it. Guess I owe you that date ;)
You couldn’t stop smiling, your heart soaring with pride and excitement.
You: You were amazing! We're so proud!! I can't wait x
Jude: Trust me, I’m looking forward to it. See you soon, Y/N.
You spent the rest of the night celebrating with your friends, the victory and Jude’s promise keeping your spirits high. Amidst all the revelry, one thing was clear: your relationship with Jude was about to take a new and thrilling turn.
The next few days were a whirlwind of emotions and excitement. Jude’s team had just secured a 2-1 victory against the Netherlands. The pub you were in was filled with joyous celebration and raucous cheers. You knew Jude would be over the moon, and you couldn’t wait to hear from him.
Soon enough, your phone rang with an incoming call from Jude. You stepped outside, away from the pub’s noise, to answer.
“Hey, Jude!” you answered, your voice bright with excitement. “Congrats on the win!”
“Y/N!” Jude’s voice was noticeably slurred, and you could hear the background noise of a lively celebration. “I can’t believe we did it! We actually won!”
“I know, it was amazing!” you said, smiling. “You were incredible out there.”
“Thanks!” Jude’s words were slightly jumbled. “I’m just so… so buzzed right now! Remember when we were kids and we’d dream about moments like this? It’s really happening!”
“I know, it’s like a dream come true,” you said warmly.
“And you were always… so pretty, you know? I never really understood why you’d hang out with me,” he continued, his voice full of affection. “Everyone loved you, and I was just this goofy football guy.”
You felt a blush rising. “Jude, it didn’t matter. We had so much fun together.”
“Really?” he asked, sounding genuinely surprised. “I always thought… thought you were too good for me. I was just this guy with a big dream, and you were this amazing person who could have been anywhere.”
“Well, I was where I wanted to be,” you said softly. “With you.”
Jude’s voice grew more tender. “I’ve always admired you, Y/N. Even back then, I was captivated by you. The way you carried yourself, the way you looked—it was like you had this light that drew me in. I was always amazed by how stunning you were, both inside and out.”
You could hear Bukayo’s voice faintly in the background. “Jude, mate, turn the phone off. You're pissed-"
Jude chuckled, though his tone remained affectionate. “I can’t help it, Bukayo! Y/N, you have no idea how incredible you are. I mean, just thinking about you—how beautiful you looked back then and how stunning you still are—drives me crazy.”
You couldn’t help but smile at his words. “Jude, you’re making me blush.”
“I’m just speaking the truth,” he said earnestly. “You’ve always been this amazing person, and I’ve been lucky to have you as a friend and now… maybe something more.”
You felt a warm flutter in your chest. “I’m really glad we’re sharing these moments together. It means a lot to me.”
Jude’s voice grew more serious, though still a bit tipsy. “If we keep winning, I want to make sure we celebrate together. I can’t imagine doing it without you.”
“I’d love that,” you said, smiling. “For now, enjoy the celebration. You’ve earned it.”
Jude’s laughter was warm and content. “Alright, I’ll let you go. But I’ll call you again soon, okay?”
“Sure thing. Enjoy the rest of your night, Jude,” you said.
As you ended the call, you couldn’t help but smile. Jude’s heartfelt, tipsy confessions and the sound of his celebration had deepened your connection, making you realize just how much you both meant to each other. The future felt full of promise, and you were excited to see where this new chapter would lead.
When England lost 2-1 to Spain, the crushing disappointment was felt by everyone, especially Jude. As he and the team made their way back, he couldn't shake the feeling of defeat.
You, back home, had been anxiously awaiting any word from him. After a few hours, you decided to check in, hoping he was doing okay.
You: Hey Jude, are you alright? Just wanted to check in.
A few minutes later, your phone buzzed with a message from Jude. The text was brief, but the words were heavy with the weight of the loss.
Jude: Not great, honestly. It's been a rough night.
You felt a pang of sadness reading his message.
You could picture him, lost in thought, longing for comfort.
You: I'm so sorry, Jude. I wish I could be there with you too. You wanna hang out tomorrow? Watch a crappy horror movie and crash on my sofa?
The reply came back quickly.
Jude: Sure. I could use a little cheer up. I'd better go, journalists want a chat before we board.
You stared at the phone, hoping your words brought him some measure of comfort. You knew how much this loss meant to him, and how hard he had worked for this moment. The idea of him being alone in his thoughts broke your heart a little more.
You wanted to do something special for him, something that would show him just how much you cared. An idea started to form in your mind, and you sprang into action.
First, you pulled out his favorite hoodie from the closet. It was slightly oversized on you, but it felt like a warm hug. You wore it while you tidied up the apartment, making sure everything was perfect for when he got home.
Then, you went into the kitchen to start cooking his favorite meal. The process was therapeutic, each stir of the pot a way to channel your nervous energy. As the aromas filled the room, you felt a little more at peace, knowing that you were doing something to help him, even from afar.
As the hours ticked by, you kept checking your phone, hoping for any update on his flight. Finally, a message popped up.
Jude: Just landed. See you soon
Your heart skipped a beat. You quickly finished setting the table, dimming the lights to create a cozy atmosphere. You lit a few candles, their soft glow adding a touch of warmth to the room.
When you heard the key in the lock, you rushed to the door, your heart pounding with anticipation. As the door opened, there he was, looking exhausted but so incredibly relieved to see you.
Without a word, he dropped his bags and pulled you into a tight embrace. You held him close, feeling the tension slowly drain from his body as he buried his face in your neck.
"I missed you so much," he whispered, his voice cracking with emotion.
"I missed you too, Jude," you replied softly, running your fingers through his hair. "I'm so glad you're home."
He pulled back slightly to look at you, his eyes filled with gratitude. "You have no idea how much this means to me. Thank you."
You smiled, cupping his face in your hands. "Come on, I made your favorite dinner. Let's sit down and talk about everything."
Later on, after you had let him get everything off his chest, you decided to watch a movie, something that would probably become background noise. As the movie played, you and Jude sat side by side on the couch, the tension between you that seemed to dance in time with the flickering images. You could feel the heat of his body next to yours, and every time your arms or legs brushed, a jolt of electricity shot through you.
You glanced at him out of the corner of your eye.
He was staring at the screen, but you could tell his mind was elsewhere. The furrow in his brow, the way his jaw tightened, the constant fidgeting-he was still wrestling with the aftermath of the game.
You wished there was something you could do to ease his mind.
As if sensing your thoughts, he turned to you, his eyes softening. "I'm sorry I've been a grumpy sod."
You smiled, feeling a flutter in your chest. "No, don't be. I'm your friend!" You smirk a little as you made eye contact with him for the first time that night. "I'm just glad you're here."
The movie continued, but the air between you grew thicker with unspoken words and emotions.
"Listen. About what I said-"
"We don't have too-"
"No we should! Because, i know I've been swept up with all of the euro's but- I meant what i said. I like you."
"I like you too."
You could feel his gaze lingering on you more frequently, and each time you met his eyes, it was like a silent conversation passed between you.
"Do you remember the last time we watched a movie together?" he asked suddenly, breaking the silence.
You chuckled softly. "Yeah, you fell asleep halfway through."
He grinned, the first genuine smile you'd seen from him all night. "I was exhausted. You have a way of making me feel very relaxed. Always have done."
"It's a very good thing," he replied, his voice low.
You felt a shiver run down your spine at the intensity in his eyes. The movie, now a distant background noise, was all but forgotten. The distance between you seemed to shrink with each passing second.
"Jude..." you began, but the words caught in your throat. "I-." His eyes looked up and down at your lips as you settled into his embrace. He looks for any uncertainty before he continues.
"You make me feel seen. Like I can't hide anything from you. It's scary really-"
"Is that so-" you smile, your eyes casting over his lips.
"Mhmm. You make me such a good person-"
"Jude, just kiss me already." You laugh. He smiles instinctively,
He reached out, his fingers brushing lightly against your cheek. "Can I...?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
You nodded, unable to form a coherent response.
Your heart pounded in your chest as he leaned in, his breath warm against your skin. The world seemed to hold its breath as your lips finally met in a soft, tentative kiss.
It was like a spark igniting a fire, the kiss quickly deepening with a hunger that had been building all night. His hands found their way to your waist, pulling you closer as the kiss grew more intense.
You responded in kind, your fingers tangling in his hair as you pressed against him, the kiss growing more intense. His lips were insistent, exploring yours with a desperate need. You could feel his heartbeat against your chest, mirroring your own racing pulse.
Jude's hands roamed, tracing the curve of your back, sending shivers down your spine. Your skin felt electrified wherever he touched, each caress igniting a new wave of desire. You gasped as his lips left yours, trailing hot kisses down your neck, nibbling and sucking gently at the sensitive skin.
"Jude," you moaned softly, your fingers tightening in his hair. He groaned in response, the sound vibrating against your throat as he continued his exploration, his hands slipping under your shirt to caress the bare skin of your back.
Your breath hitched when his lips found the hollow of your collarbone, his tongue flicking out to taste your skin. You arched into him, your body responding instinctively to his touch. The heat between you was almost unbearable, a consuming fire that threatened to engulf you both.
When you finally broke apart, gasping for breath, you looked into his eyes and couldn't help but smile. "Do you know how long l've wanted to do that?" you whispered, your voice filled with a mix of relief and desire.
Jude chuckled, resting his forehead against yours.
"Probably as long as I have," he replied, his breath warm against your lips.
You both knew this was just the beginning, but for now, the world outside could wait. All that mattered was the two of you, tangled in each other's arms, finally giving in to the desire that had been simmering between you for so long.

You’re fresh out of the shower, and dressed for bed when you hear it.
A rhythmic knock at your apartment door. A spoon full of ice cream sits frozen in your mouth, and you still in your bed. You furrow your eyebrows and glance at the clock. It's 12 am, and last time you checked, none of your friends had mentioned stopping by.
At the same time the knocking stops, your phone chimes with a text.
Dom: open the fucking door
You grin and sit up, spoon still between your lips.
You: U have a fuckin key
You: Use it
You: I'm not gettin out of bed
You swear you can hear muttered curses from outside, and a bag drop.
Dom: fucking prick
A few minutes pass, and the door opens. You hear him close and lock it, then the sound of your fridge opening.
You go in for another scoop of ice cream, a smile big on your face when shuffling is heard coming down the hallway. You can hardly conceal your giddiness.
You haven’t seen your boyfriend in just over a week, he had a week-long studio session with Kenny. So to say that you were feigning to see him again would be an understatement.
Just as you pull your spoon from your lips, your bedroom door swings open and there he stands.
Backpack slung over his shoulder, and his hair a bit damp from what you assume is from a shower.
He looks at you, trying to look irritated, but there’s a smile under it. In fact, it wants to show out so badly, that Dominic turns around, takes a deep breath then faces you again.
You burst into laughter, and it’s then he can’t pretend anymore. He grins so big his eyes start to crinkle, and he drops his bag to the floor.
“You’re such a prick for making me dig for my keys.” He starts, kicking off his Crocs, and tugging off his hoodie.
“Ah yes, I think I read something like that in the text you sent me.” You shrug, placing your bowl and spoon on your nightstand, knowing what's about to come.
Dominic nods his head and sucks his teeth.
“Mhm, so since you wanna be smart, you know what’s coming right?” He closes your bedroom door and gets into a running position. Your grin has yet to wipe off your face, and you scurry over to your side of the bed.
“Dom I swear.” You start, it’s a fake warning. You know it, and he does too.
“Too late.” Then he breaks off into a mini-sprint and lunges himself onto your bed. He makes sure to land softly, but sturdy. Landing right on top of you.
You scream and your arms automatically spring out and wrap around him. You lock your legs around his waist and cling to him like a koala. He laughs with you, pulling his head up to tilt it back, and you melt.
He looks youthful. Happy. Content. You’re own laughing slows, and eventually fades out. You can’t help but admire him in this state. He looks absolutely beautiful, and you can’t believe he’s all yours.
You unwrap your arms from his neck and bring your hands up to cup his face. It’s then his laughs simmer down. He’s looking at you, eyebrows furrowed at the sudden change in atmosphere. He sees the faraway look in your eyes, they almost seem to be glazed over and glimmering. You swipe your thumb over the apple on his cheek, and Dom softly smiles.
“You’re beautiful Dominic.” You lift a hand up from his face to his hair; raking it back before settling back on his cheek. “I love you so much.” You breathe.
The air around the two of you gets warm. Feels heavy, but in the way of comfort. His lips slightly part. He breathes out a laugh, and looks off to the side, shaking his head.
“God, what did I do to deserve you.” Before you can reply, Dom leans down and places his lips on yours. You gasp, but it doesn't take you long to recover. You kiss him back with fever, you press back with intention and pressure. It’s sweet. It’s languid, and it’s home.
You bring a hand up behind his neck and press him in deeper. There’s nothing sloppy or obscene about it. It’s intimate; a moment reserved only for you and Dominic. You could spend a lifetime kissing him. Having him wrapped in your embrace. This is worth everything to you.
To your dismay, he pulls away from your lips and just brushes his over yours gently. He kisses down your jaw, to your neck, then ends his trail on your shoulder.
On his way down he mumbles sweet nothings, expressing his love and admiration for you after each kiss. You have to keep yourself from drowning under it all. It doesn’t take much for you to want to be completely consumed by him. By everything that makes Dominic, Dominic.
He pulls back, and your hand goes right back to his face. Both your thumbs swipe at the x’s on his lids, and Dom sighs.
You unwrap your legs from his waist, and you maneuver yourselves under the comforter. Dom still lies on top of you, now in between your legs, head on your chest. You have him held secure in your arms, as he traces patterns on your hipbone.
Every now and then softly snapping the fabric of your panties against it. He leans down to place a tender kiss on your skin, then lifts up to leave one more kiss on your lips. It’s soft and heavy. You have to fight the urge to keep him there.
You feel his body melt into yours, when he goes back to your chest. His heartbeat begins to slow, stepping into rhythm with yours.
The soft scratching of your nails in his hair, your fingertips dipping inside the top of his shirt to rub at his back. It’s all so warm.
Whatever was weighing on his shoulders. Whatever was plaguing his mind. Whatever was being said about him, draining his mental and will to succeed in his work. It’s all burned.
Burned away by the warmth only you seem to emit. It comes from your lips when you kiss him. It comes from your arms when you hold him. And it comes from your eyes when you look at him as if he’s the sun and stars. And it’s all for him.
“I love you too.” He mumbles, leaning up to leave a kiss on the underside of your chin.

warnings: angst, commitment issues.
summary: Harry freaks out and bolts when you tell him that you love him, so he has to figure out a way to make it up to you.
notes: hello loves! I have a few requests to write but I thought of this fic all by myself🙊 (for once😅). I hope you enjoy!!💘🫶🏼
Tumblr media
"So you told him that you love him and he just... left?" Talia asked in disbelief as we ate lunch. I nodded. "What a prick! Did he say anything?" "No. He stuttered for a second then got up off the bed, grabbed his coat and made a b-line for the front door." I replied. Me and Harry have been seeing each other for almost four months now and I've known that I love him for over a month. I decided to wait a little while because I didn't want him to freak out but it seems I should've waited even longer.
That night, after talking things over with Talia, all I could think about was him. Worried in case I'd completely fucked everything up. Eventually I decided that it wasn't my fault. If he wasn't ready to commit after a whole four months then maybe he didn't like me as much as I thought he did. I just wanted him to text me because I wasn't sure what was going on. The last time I spoke to him was the night he left, I've heard nothing since then.
The next day I got up and got ready for work. I took a shower, brushed my teeth, pinned my hair back, applied a little bit of makeup then got dressed into a matching skirt and blazer suit along with tights and some black heels. After quickly eating some breakfast I grabbed my bag and drove to the building in which I work.
The day dragged on and so I couldn't wait to get home, get into my pyjamas, order a takeout and watch some trashy tv. Once I was finally finished I said good night to my boss and headed home.
My heels clicked on the tiled floor as I walked towards the front of my apartment. My brows furrowed as I noticed something on my doorstep. Once I was a close enough I realised what it was. I picked up the bouquet of white flowers then unlocked my apartment door and went inside.
I set the flowers on my kitchen counter and walked into my bedroom to change into some comfy clothes. Once I was finished I took a closer look at the roses. A note was placed inside. I pulled it out then opened it. The note read: "I'm sorry about the other day. Can I make it up to you with dinner tomorrow night? -Harry x" I smiled. He could've just sent me a text but this was way cuter and meant a lot more.
I sent him a quick message: "thank you for the flowers. Do you wanna meet at our usual spot at 7 ish?" He replied quickly, "yeah, that's perfect. See u then." I set my phone down and enjoyed the rest of my night but not before I called Talia to tell her about what had happened in the past twenty minutes and she also thought that the flowers were adorable.
After getting a good sleep I woke up in a great mood. Thankfully it was also my day off so I went to run some errands before I came back and began getting ready for mine and Harry's date. I took a warm shower, took time to do my hair and makeup then slipped into a cute dress that I had brought earlier that day. Once I was finished I left my apartment and drove to the restaurant me and Harry always go to; since we both love it and it's where we had our first date.
I parked my car then headed inside. I was quickly met with a waitress who took me to a quiet table at the back. Harry hadn't arrived yet so I sat patiently on my phone while I waited.
"Hey." I looked up to see Harry. "Hi." I stood to greet him. We shared a quick hug before both sitting down. "How are you?" He asked. "Good. You?" It was awkward, which is what I expected. "I feel awful, you know- because of the other day. I owe you an explanation." He began seriously. I smiled lightly at him since I could tell he was very nervous.
He took a deep breath. "I uh- my last relationship was really fast and it ended quickly as well. I think I freaked out because I um- I didn't want the same thing to happen with us 'cause... I love you, like a lot." He didn't look me in the eyes until he said the last sentence. My features softened. "Oh Haz, I understand. We can take it as slow as you need. And I'm really relieved that you feel the same." I replied.
The mood changed quickly and we enjoyed our night like nothing had even happened. Harry invited me over to his apartment afterwards and as we lay together on his bed, my head rested on his chest and his fingers gently playing with my hair, I felt so happy.

a simple night for us ⋆·˚ ༘ *

1.9k words [7-8 min read.] keigo t. x fem . reader
summary: you wake up from a long nap nearing 10pm. your apartment is a mess, but all you want to do is see your keigo..
mentions: a summerween fluff fic where you and keigo spend time together until the moment you fall asleep together ♡

ping!
you jerked up out of your arms that your head was resting on seconds before, roused out of your deep slumber that was intended to only be a light nap.
you were exhausted to say the least. your bones ached from doing all of your daily activities and chores, yearning to rest once again, but you were already past feeling drowsy and sleepy, now alert and wide awake.
wearily, you attempted to sit up from the couch you’d been napping on but winced, your limbs sore from the awkward position that you had fallen asleep in.
as you readjusted yourself on the cushions, stretching out your arms and popping a few joints, your eyes glanced over your dimly candle-lit living room in search of the loud noise that you swore you heard from your phone…
once you had found your phone tangled within dozens of papers from work in front of you on the coffee table, your warm fingers scooped it up from the mess on the table, hands shifting, fixing themselves to cup your phone within your palms.
the bright glow that emitted from the cellphone made you squint and scrunch your face a bit as your eyes weren’t used to the brightness, and you opted to turn the brightness down on your phone yourself.
your eyes darted to the bottom of your screen to the notification that woke you up in the first place.

9:46 p.m.
Hey, are you busy rn? Just got off early from my night patrol.
——
your breath slowed and softened as you realized it was only keigo. oh how you missed his silly cute charming self. poor man was being worked to the bone and he’s had to sacrifice his entire schedule primarily for work, which included spending time with you.
looking up from the glow of your device to scan your living room and kitchen, you cringed at the state it was in, appearing unkempt as you recall you hadn’t been able to even start drying the many dishes left in the sink.
a tired sigh left your lips as the clutter of your apartment would possibly sabotage a night spent with your boyfriend.
then, suddenly, a wave of motivation came over yourself, and you quickly typed back in your messages:
——
you
9:48 p.m
no im not busy rn, can u come over pls? i just want to have an us night.  ——
text bubbles popped up seconds after you sent the message.
——
kei
9:48 p.m
Of course, sweets. How about a movie night? I can go to the nearest 7-11 for snacks. I’ll try to be at your place in 30 minutes tops, just gotta close up my office for the night.
——
well damn did he type fast, and DAMN WAS HE GOING TO GET HERE FAST! maybe, just maybe you could have time to clean up the work in front of you, dry the dishes as hurriedly as possible, and take the quickest shower of your life!
immediately, you got to work, clearing the table and stuffing the immense amount of paperwork in your folder and into your bag. ‘25 minutes.. okay. i got this.’
you scrubbed and scrubbed at each bowl and cup frantically, nearly throwing them all in the cabinets as 18 minutes remained.
scattering to the bathroom, you turned on the shower, and cramped your usually-one-hour-shower-routine into one that lasted merely 15 minutes.
lunging for your robe and towel, you run back to your bedroom where you made your bed as neat as it could look, taking a few steps back to do a final inspection of your room to make sure everything seemed right in place and cozy enough for you and keigo.
turning your heel back to the living room, you picked up your phone resting on the sofa and checked to see if keigo had given any update about his whereabouts, to which your eyes lit up at the message he sent:

I might be a little late, I got caught up in something happening out on the street. I’ll be there in 10, for real this time :)

Also, batman or hello kitty?
——
okay, that was not a question that you expected, but at least you still had time to dry off and wait for him.
why would he ask you about.. whatever. you responded back:
——
you
10:22 p.m
hello kitty, and its okay dont worry about it <3

tap tap tap tap!
the pattern of keigo’s taps on your balcony door were almost silent from your bedroom, but you could never miss it, because it was keigo of course; you knew it was him.
mincing your way to the balcony door, you were greeted with keigo waving at you like a little boy, an infectious smile on his face while holding a number of bags in his right hand stuffed with goods.
sliding the door open, he stepped in, kicking off his boots as he sent some of his feathers to take ahold of the goodies, emerging from his back and snatching the bags to make their way to the kitchen counter.
he took you in his arms and hugged you tight, with a subtle “hey..” whispered in your ear that made you tingle.
your arms slid up his back, careful to not accidentally brush against his wings, as the pads of your fingers reached the back of his neck, holding and brushing through the soft blonde locks at the back of his head.
“i missed you,” you muttered against his shoulder.
“missed ya’ too, sweets. so much.” he replied, engulfing the scent of your shampoo in your hair, his gloved hands rubbing circles on your back.
you didn’t mind taking a few minutes to just be in the moment with keigo. you had missed him so, all you could do was rest on his shoulder and sway with him.
eventually, he pulled away to take off his jacket and gloves as well as the visors sitting on the top of his head. he then took ahold of your hand while he led you into the kitchen.
he grabbed one of the bags placed on the countertop and took out the contents inside. he handed you the softest pj set of hello kitty that you’d ever felt, only it was halloween themed, with witch hats and pumpkins and bats embroidered on the set.
“i thought the bats on yours would match mine,” he explained, gesturing to the set he was holding in his hands. batman pjs.
ohh, so that’s what he meant with that text..
you agreed with him, “i think its adorable, they match so cutely!” smiling at keigo with your eyes beaming up at him, he chuckled to himself, internally cheering himself on as his little plan to match with you worked.
“wait for me in your room. im gonna take a quick shower, then we’ll have the whole night to ourselves, yeah?”
giddy was an understatement for what you felt. you nodded your head as you both headed to your room.
you sat down on your bed while keigo pinched your cheek before entering the bathroom.
—————
“so.. i was thinking about a movie, but honestly i don’t know what to choose.” you admitted to keigo, who had his head rested comfortably on your shoulder.
“how about a halloween movie? it’d match our outfits pretty well, kinda like a little theme, like summerween maybe.”
his suggestion intrigued you. it wasn’t fall yet, but you always loved the idea of a summerween movie night.
“i’d love that actually.”
the two of you settled on the nightmare before christmas to watch, cuddling one another with a blanket wrapped around you two, nice and snug together like two peas in a pod.
[secretly, the two of you always have a debate whether it’s a halloween movie or a christmas movie. you always win every time with halloween.]
although it was ones of your favorites, the movie that you were supposed to be watching was drowned out as you turned to look at keigo.
his sharp irises focused on the screen in front of him, his tusks of blond hair that usually stood upright and slicked back at his forehead were rested upon his eyes, flowing downward as if they were bangs, and they complimented his features so well. every few seconds or so, he would feed himself with a fist full of of popcorn, and you couldn’t help but just stare at him.
you loved when he was so calm, looked so sure that he was safe and didn’t need to have his guard up, he just looked so genuine right now.
you didn’t want him to catch you staring so you zipped your head back to the screen before he could bat an eye at you.
it wasn’t until you turned back to him when you felt something poking at your cheek. when you peeked at him this time, his hand was holding a chocolate covered pretzel to your mouth, waiting for you to take it.
reluctantly, you leaned closer to him, and his hand approached your face even closer just as you bit off a piece, flinching almost when his thick fingers grazed your lips.
swallowing down your own flusterdness, all you wanted was to pretend nothing happened, and you decided on fiddling with the blanket to help ease the embarrassment.
keigo on the other hand was on the brink of bursting with laughter. the way you stiffened to his touch was so adorable to him, he just wanted to tease you even more.
however he was a gentlemen, and he didn’t want to overwhelm you further, so he just left it at that, a proud smirk remaining on his face.
—————-
wrappers were littered on both of your nightstands along with empty popcorn bags that were long forgotten on the floor that you’d soon have to sweep up when you had the will.
twinkling orange-hued fairy lights remained lit capturing the halloween ambiance as the movie began to reach its end.
your mouth opened wide in a yawn , eyelids growing heavy and you started to feel sleepy again.
gazing up at your boyfriend from his chest, you noticed that he also was struggling to keep awake. he blinked serenely, a frog-like blink at that, and his chest that you were using as a pillow rose and fell gently, slower and slower as midnight approached.
keigo still felt you looking up at him, and so he tilted his head down and kissed at the crown of your head.
“maybe we should get some rest. you need your beauty sleep, sweets.”
his voice has coated with honey as he said it, laced with chocolate kisses as he sounded so sweet and soft but definitely ready to hit the z’s.
“m’kay.. should i try’ta pick up some of the-”
“no no, ‘s alright, i got it for you. just rest that pretty head of yours on those pillows, i’ll take care of everything.” he shushed you, cradling your jaw in his large hand as his feathers scattered, cleaning up your room, not missing a speck of trash.
these were the best nights you could ever spend with keigo. the ones that mattered to you most were the quaint and simple ones. it wasn’t easy to catch him every night, which was why you cherished these nights in your heart, wishing that they would never end.
the fairy lights flicked off, leaving you unable to see your winged companion. it was okay though, the warmth radiating from his body was enough to lull you to sleep.
his strong arms snaked around your waist in a protective embrace, not planning to let go anytime soon.
“g’night..” you slurred, “love you..”
he pecked your cheek.
“night.. love you most, doll. sweet dreams. ” ღ

While there are people out here that would kill to be in his/her place. From their perspective y’all need to add another person to bring back the spark. Hey, I am the last one to judge sexual needs but their intention ain’t it. They want the 3 of y’all in a car, fucking. How is that even going to work ? The car is already small for 2 people. The reality is that they don’ t want look at u or even deal with you while y’all fucking. And that right there tells me all I need to know. 5 cups, 6 cups (reverse), ace wands, 9 pentacles (reverse), ‘’I was hidden my true feeling because I was scared of commitment and did not want to lose my freedom !’’
SHE (FEMININE ENERGY), HIM (MASCULINE)
Before you go further, know that it doesn't matter about the gender but which energy you embody. Because there is a clear difference in this one.
You guys already had crazy sex. I don’t even think it is about the kinky level but is more about the overwhelming emotions shared in that intimate moment. I’m talking about your most recent ex, some of y’all (especially women) it was your first relationship. Let’s start from the beginning. He used to send you cheeky pics of him after a workout or a shower. Y’all are not better, out here sending lingerie haul and voice memo. Knowing damn well that your moan drives him crazy. I can’t exactly see how we got into the fucking scenario  but I can see bits of the whole thing. He grabbed your waist and pushed you on the bed. Leaving hickeys on your neck and breast. While nibbling kisses on your stomach and leaving love bites on thighs. Before latching on your clit like a man on a mission. When he finally let himself inside, you were a whimpering mess. I keep hearing: ‘’ You can take it princess. Everything is fine. You know I’m in love with you, right ? You are so gorgeous’’. Plus he gets easily aroused around you. Some of y’all had a place that you were banned from kissing before going. I see 2 clear incidents. One before meeting your parents, y’all make out a bit in his car then y’all have to wait because of boner. Y’all at school just after one kiss, he has to go in the bathroom, to calm down. Because of you he started wearing sweat, yes to please you but most importantly because is his best bet to hide the constant boner he has around u. As of now he still gets off from flashbacks of y’all shared moments. Believe me Pile 2, he did not move on. He let you go because he wanted you to pursue your dream. He doesn't want to be the reason to stop you from  your potential. I’m sensing that y’all work or study abroad at the moment. That’s why he prefers a sad break up with much love rather than a messy one where he might do the ultimate act that he despise : hurting you.
BONUS
WILD SEX: LOVING DOM

8 wands, High priestess, Page wands, Magician, ‘’I know you are my soulmate babe ! Our bond is magnetic ! I’m seeing all the signs’’, ‘’ I didn't feel like I was on your level ! You are a boss ! I’m very insecure ! ‘’
Lucky you, your guides allow me further more access to your energy. I never getting deeper than I am allowed without having a signal. You guys are going to meet again. Is inevitable. Some he might text you drunk, after his friend tries to keep his phone away from you the whole night. They are love sick. The next first touch,I see an extremely tight hug in the middle of the airport. Him coming with red roses to you. You are jumping in his arms. I see y’all going crazy with each other not even being able to wait to make it in your bedroom. Is not just lust, it is the most intimate discord that your soul has with each other. When y’all having sex. If he did text you and promise you a surprise: is a small vibrator. See clothe flying, your ass up face down on the floor while his pounding into you,  in the kitchen. Some of y’all are not even going to make it until the kitchen, losing your mind in the door hallway. Y’all are going rounds after rounds. The last scene, you are on the bed, missionary position, crying from overstimulation. He is usually assertive but now he’s like an emotional dom. Thrusting in you hard and slow while opening up: ‘’ Don’t you dare cum. You know how much I missed you. You know how hard it was for me … to let… u … go’’
You are barely able to formulate an answer: ‘’ I know, I know, I’m sorry baby …’’ Completely dizzy on orgasm .
💌Girl, how can you handle all this intensity ! Anyway lucky you, if you need further confirmation regarding your situation, you can always message especially now that my reading are on sale.

I’M USING ''SHE'' BECAUSE I’M SENSING HEAVY PREGNANCY ENERGY
Check in : Good afternoon to my plus size babes. Some of y’all or only pregnant while others of both. You have a big butt. The stretch marks and cellulite and you love it. You love yourself the way that you are. With the rolls and belly. I am obese with your energy.
You know who else is obese? Your boo thing. Pile 3, y’all are mean. You just block your fiancé/husband after sending a risky picture. Just because. On a random Thursday morning. He is out here losing his mind in the break room. Trying to understand what he has done to deserve that treatment. Did he forget to put the garbage out ?, did he not walk the pet?, did he forgot to start that diy project in the garden ? or did he forget to get your coffee this morning ? What’s going on ? He  is losing it in the middle of a team meeting. While you are smirking, living the dream life. Y’all look like a regular couple, kids, pets, house in the suburb with 2 garage doors. And your dream car brought by yours truly. They don’t know how freaky y’all are. Sex toys, sexting, latex lingerie and fucking in the walk in closet he build. If necessary, y’all don’t mind calling the babysitter so you can lose it in a hotel room. But y’all favorite experience is a good old missionary. He’s caressing your legs, while looking deep in your soul with nothing but love. While you are forever grateful to have found the one that cherishes you forever
💌Y'all better teach me your ways. You got that on Amazon, Target maybe it was a private sale. Anyway congrats on your pregnancy/engagement and keep the good energy, if you want to dive more into upcoming events regarding your life, you can always message. Especially now that my reading are on sale.

Hello I had this dream last night and I need to share it with you!!!
We know the whole crew is invited to the Cannibal Cookout for the weekend.
So I imagine Al is gonna let cameras take pictures of him and Lucifer, that way the headline of his relationship with the king of hell will reach the seven pentagram faster(it was showed that he can take pictures when he wants to, since vox kept one). But that also mean he is gonna be exposed for the first time in probably forever. Like he is known for his terrifying radio podcast, which means that not many ppl know about his true form, especially new born sinners. So I can only imagine the surprise of those people to see the radio demon , the scariest overlord of them all, being a cute deer with a a fluffy tail and all the package that comes with it. Also Alastor mentioned to Lucy to ‘Wear your Sunday best.”, which might imply that he is gonna wear something nice as well…
It would be hilarious if Half of hell will start simping for Alastor and downright ignoring Lucifer.
I can imagine the internet exploding with Alastor pictures and people going like 'aww his ears are moving’ or something, sinners go as far as make fan club about him, meanwhile a certain picture box is having a mental breakdown…
~Valentino: “u know u can just say it that u want him”
~Vox: “Alright alright fuck yea I do and so Does half of hell. God damn it”
Meanwhile Angel reading through the chaos Alastor just unleashed
“oh he is so stealing my job already”
Lmao
OFC In all of this Al is completely oblivious about the situation he caused, so the crew tries to keep him out the flow, to not freak him out, which it’s not hard at all, since the dude doesn’t have a phone, but he does get a bit suspicious when Lucifer makes him wear something to cover his upper body, almost as far as making him wear an hat and glasses lol(I don’t see Lucifer as being who enjoys losing himself on new trends and gossip on the internet, so Angel probably showed him a innocent picture of them, but Lucy made the bad choice to go read through the comments. Nonetheless to say he was scarred for life, and decided to take it upon himself to protect Alastor’s privacy)
Also Alastor can probably sense when someone takes pictures of him, twitching his eyes and tail but otherwise leaves it be for the sake of maintaining the charade.
This was it ehehe, I kinda felt bad I woke up from that dream, I honestly wanted to know how it ended.
Either way I can’t wait to see how u are planning to go with it. Cause I just know u are gonna make me love every second of it😆👌
thank you for listening
Ps I wrote this at 5 in the morning a week ago, and I am not sure if I already sent it to u or my mind is playing tricks to me…so I am sorry if u already got the message.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heheheheh I love this! You have the BEST dreams. I'm so in love with most of Hell not knowing Alastor, or not really remembering what he looked like, since he's been gone (and Hell is expanding by the thousands every day, so of course there would be people who don't know him).
And so they see him for the first time and it's such a stark difference to what they were expecting XD He's developing a fan-base and Lucifer has to scare them all of (otherwise Alastor WILL murder. He will).
And no worries! I did get the ask from earlier! Sometimes, if it takes me a long time to get to an ask, that's because I want to draw some doodles for it like the pics above ^.^

i love u guys so much :) pls make sure you drink enough water today!
this is a very long chapter by the way so pls prepare yourself for potential spelling mistakes!
alright... away we goooo!!!
As you sprinted down the corridor, it felt like it was never-ending. You were almost out of breath as you reached the scene, your hand flying up to cover your mouth as you stared up in horror at the second bloody message. It eerily read: 'Her skeleton will lie in the chamber forever'.
"Oh my…" You breathed out shakily; the loudening sound of a crowd of hurried footsteps began to get closer and closer to you. Looking to the right, you spotted the other teachers - McGonagall, Madam Pomfrey, Flitwick, Sinistra, Snape and the caretaker, Filch. They all looked as distressed as you did, even Snape who is usually devoid of any emotion.
"The heir of Slytherin has left another message," McGonagall stated apprehensively, gesturing to the defamed wall with an outstretched hand as the other teachers gathered around, all sporting the same worrisome look. "Our worst fear has been realised. A student has been taken by the monster, into the Chamber itself." The Head of Gryffindor's voice was shaky, it sounded like she was about to burst into tears. You glanced at her with sad eyes, and she beckoned you to come to her with her other arm. You padded over to McGonagall as she laid an arm around your shoulders comfortingly, her thumb gently rubbing soothing circles into your skin.
Being the youngest of the teachers, you were taking this rather hard. Most of all, you were worried for the rest of your students. "What do we do Minerva?" You asked quietly after a moment of silence as the group of you stared at the wall in disbelief and what felt like denial. "The students must be sent home… I'm afraid this is the end of Hogwarts." She announced, her brows knitting together in a dramatic show of despair. You felt your stomach drop. The end of Hogwarts?…
Before you could get another word in, a familiar, cocky face appeared. "So sorry. Dozed off. What have I missed?" Lockhart asked over-enthusiastically with his signature million-dollar grin, bouncing on his heels as he clasped his hands together behind his back. You clenched your jaw in anger at him, your eyes narrowing into an unwelcoming glare as you stared at the man.
"A girl has been snatched by the monster, Lockhart. Your moment has come at last." Snape said bitterly, standing tall.
"My m-moment?" Lockhart replied, stumbling over his words like he'd just seen a ghost.
"Weren't you saying just last night that you've known all along where the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets is?" Snape quipped as the speed of sound, his tongue laced with venom. You glanced at Severus for a quick moment, your stomach doing somersaults. Instantly, Lockhart's grin disappeared. You swallowed thickly as he dared to glance at you, his mouth parting slightly in shock. Your jaw clenched again as you shuffled in your spot, resisting the urge to curse the man. McGonagall's comforting hand tightened around your shoulder.
"That's settled. We'll leave you to deal with the monster, Gilderoy." McGonagall said matter-of-factly. "Your skills, after all, are legend." She added, not hiding the smugness in her voice at all. The corner of your lip quirked up the tiniest amount at her words. Lockhart's face was the pure definition of shock for the last few seconds before he quickly returned to his fake, proud grin.
"Very well. Uh, I'll just be in my office getting err… getting ready!" Lockhart announced, feigning excitement. Did he think you were stupid? All of you could see through his brave act and see his true cowardly self. As you all stared at him, he spun on his heel and turned around, almost sprinting back in the direction of his office. You couldn't help but scoff quietly as he turned the corner, rolling your eyes at his pathetic self as you looked back at the message messily scrawled out on the wall. Your stomach twisted at the thought of one of your students being brutally slaughtered at the hands of a beast. It felt as if someone had just pushed you from a great height.
"Who is it that the monster's taken, Minerva?" Madam Pomfrey asked with inquisitive yet cautious eyes, pulling you from your thoughts. Professor McGonagall looked away for a moment, blinking slowly.
"Ginny Weasley." McGonagall replied gravely, sharing a glance with Madam Pomfrey before walking away, presumably back to her office. You'd been nurturing your Mandrakes with precision, but this whole debacle spurred you on to do as much as you could, even if that meant destroying yourself in the process. The students of Hogwarts' safety meant the world to you. You couldn't imagine the fear that was probably streaming through them all right now.
Ever since you were called by McGonagall to the second-floor corridor to witness the final bloody message scrawled against the wall, you'd been awake almost twenty-four hours a day; sleeping in your greenhouse at your desk to ensure you were there the exact moment your Mandrakes were ready to be stewed and made into juice for the Mandrake Restoration potion. Dark purple rings had appeared around your eyes as you worked day and night, fertilising, feeding and watering the Mandrakes, guaranteeing that the they were at their best when the time came. The threat of more students being attacked or snatched kept you awake most of the time.
Nothing of the sort had ever happened at Hogwarts before, and deep down, you were a little terrified. Though you refused to show it, it would only scare the students more. You had also heard through the grapevine that Hagrid had been arrested on suspicion of opening the Chamber of Secrets, which broke your heart. That man would never do such a thing, and you were positive he was being set up for it. It was a blistery, cold and frosty winter night and you had nodded off again whilst caring for the Mandrakes; your head drooped in the cradle of your arms on top of the table with your hair falling over your arms like a waterfall. You stirred awake, and it was a brutal war to open your eyes as the chilling air bit at your bare arms like a rabid dog. Shivering, you quickly blinked, rubbing your sore eyes with tired fingers, a gasp leaving your lips as you laid your eyes upon the scene in front of you. You couldn't believe what you were seeing. Before you had fallen asleep, the Mandrakes were in their own pots. Now, they had moved into each others. They'd finally matured! All those early morning and late nights you'd slaved away had paid off. Your chest was bursting with pride as you grinned to yourself. It was a bittersweet moment for sure.
"Yes!" You exclaimed, the rush of excitement fuelling you to stand up from your chair. You clasped your hands together eagerly, staring at the nesting Mandrakes like a baby who just took their first steps. You were so proud.
Humming to yourself, you stood there blankly. If you were being honest, you had to wrack your brain for a moment as the lack of sleep was starting to get to you - your brain was a little foggy. Yet, you pushed through it, retrieving your wand from your robes, but to your surprise it wasn't there. Your brows furrowed as you looked down at your empty pockets. It must have fallen out when you nodded off. You bent down quickly, scanning underneath the table with tired eyes, and sure enough, there was your wand. Sitting all by it's lonesome. You retrieved it with nimble fingers and stood back up with a whoosh, aiming your wand at the root of a Mandrake in front of you. "Diffindo." You spoke clearly, flicking your wand in a up-and-down motion, watching carefully as a thin white light severed off a thick piece of Mandrake root. It fell and landed on the table with a muffled thud. Quickly retrieving it, you placed it into a dark brown woven bag to the left of you, sealing it closed with the ivory-coloured drawstrings. Now, it was time to pay the Bat a visit. Hopefully he didn't cause you much… stress.
You sighed quietly, turning around with a whirl to have a quick look in a old, dusty mirror that had been overgrown by some vines of ivy. Merlin, you had really been neglecting yourself. You grimaced as you stared at your unrecognisable reflection, noticing the purple circles around your eyes. "Yeesh," you grit your teeth, fingers coming up to trace the lines forming at the end of your eyes.
It's not like you were there to impress Snape anyway, you were going there to drop off the Mandrake extracts and help him with the potion. That was it. Nothing else. Your chest tightened slightly at the thought, of course you wished it was different, but this was Professor Severus Snape you were talking about. The man was emotionless, he had no time for such childish things. A soft, strained groan slipped from your lips as you shut your eyes for a moment, just imagining what it'd be like if did feel the same way you did. Perhaps he'd make you tea in the mornings, visit you during your breaks, maybe even bring you small, meaningful gifts. Sighing defeatedly, you shook away your fantasy from your mind, slipping back into gloomy reality.
You made your way out of the greenhouse, but not before readjusting your dress and brushing through your hair with your fingers messily, a quiet 'ouch' falling from your lips as you reached a knot. Feelings or not, you wanted to at least look presentable. Falling asleep on your worktable didn't really do you any justice.
The obsidian night-sky had taken over from the blue one earlier, and you couldn't help but notice how beautiful the stars looked twinkling in the sky tonight. You stopped for a moment and admired it, quickly spotting your favourite constellation, Aquila. It took you back in time for a moment, remembering the fond times you had teaching students in Astronomy. You still loved Astronomy, but Herbology is where you truly belonged.
As you bid the night a silent farewell, you carried yourself into the castle, ensuring to be as quiet as possible considering it was around eleven o'clock at night, perhaps even midnight. You hurried to the spiral staircases leading down to the dungeons, that familiar, vile damp smell hitting your nose once again. Your nose scrunched up in disgust. As you continued down the path towards Snape's classroom, you spotted it; a warm amber light flooding out from underneath the door. It wasn't exactly a surprise that he was still awake, you knew he was usually out patrolling each night to catch students out of bed past curfew. You rolled your eyes at the thought and proceeded to rap on his door with your knuckles, awaiting his response, bag in hand.
"Come in." Came an agitated voice. You cringed slightly at yourself and opened his door and wandered in. As your eyes glanced around his classroom, you were instantly transported back to the times you'd served detention in here, scribbling rather inappropriate things on scraps of parchment. Looking back to Snape, you noticed he was sat at his desk, nose deep in what you assumed to be assignments. Your stomach suddenly felt rather light.
"Hello," you said sheepishly, stopping in front of his door as you shut it behind you, "You're up late." You commented, offering him a polite smile. Severus looked up confusedly from behind his desk, his brows furrowing as he noticed it was you and not a student. As his eyes connected with yours, they sent an anxious, shivery rush through your body.
"Y/N," Severus greeted you, his face still adorned with his infamous scowl as he looked at you directly for several seconds, scrutinising you as he tried to comprehend what you were doing at his office at such an ungodly hour. "What are you doing here?"
"The Mandrakes matured," you said excitedly, holding up the bag in your hand. Snape's gaze fell to your hands, eyeing the bag with an ounce of curiosity. "We can start the potion now to cure the students." You added happily.
Severus leaned back in his chair, looking back down at the assignments in front of him. You were a little bummed that he didn't look happier. "Brilliant, you may put them here." He said blankly, patting the empty space on his desk next to his pile of assignments. After several seconds, he spoke again with a curious tone. "…You said 'we', Y/N?" He stared at you. The way he said your name made your face redden.
"Erm, yes, well, I don't want you to over-stew the Mandrake root," You said with a cheeky smile. You were trying to lighten to glum mood. It was risky but worth it. High risk, high reward, you thought. "I thought it would be best if I did for you, since I was the one that raised them." You explained, shrugging sheepishly. Severus could sense the swelling pride in your voice, but he didn't mention anything, he wasn't sure if he'd say something awful and hurt you. It was rather pleasant to see you smiling in his presence instead of the usual upset and angry side of you.
Severus sat for a moment and pondered before speaking once more. "Very well." He said, that cold tone still very present in his voice. You bit down a little too harshly on your bottom lip out of nervousness, padding forwards to set the Mandrake roots down on a desk in the middle of the classroom. As you glanced around the classroom once more, fond memories of you and your friends whispering and sneaking notes to each other in class began to flood your mind, a nostalgic smile tugging at your lips.
"Are the cauldrons still in the same place?" You asked Severus, turning your head over your shoulder to look at him.
"Yes." Was all he said, nose still buried deep in his work. You rolled your eyes softly at his ridiculous work ethic. Every time you came in this room, he was always working hard. Of course, you admired his industrious nature, but you thought he would at least give himself some leeway and put the assignments down, maybe read a book or do something a little less work-related. Though, you weren't one to judge, perhaps he enjoyed it.
"Nothing changes around here." You chuckled quietly to yourself, a small smile spreading across your face as you wandered in the direction of Snape's storage cupboards, your fingers wrapping around the handle. Pulling it open with a exhausted squeak of the old and worn hinges, you let your eyes roam over the equipment, searching for a spare cauldron. As you had your back turned, Severus sneaked a glance at you over his assignments, his eyes narrowing vaguely as he stared at you for a short moment. Before you turned back around with the cauldron in your hand, he'd already returned his gaze to his desk.
Walking back to the desk you'd chosen to stew your Mandrake root, you let your eyes flick over at Severus for a quick moment, indulging in his appearance. Your eyes lingered, and you realised you loved the way his hair fell around his pale face like a pair of old curtains, a single strand curling onto his prominent nose. A tiny, bashful smile fell on your lips as you looked back to the cauldron in your hands, stopping at the desk to place the cauldron down. Whilst you were setting it up, you kept sneaking cautious glances in the direction of the broody Potions Master, your heart beat speeding up each time your curious eyes landed on him.
You retrieved your wand from your robes and cast a spell on the cauldron, watching as water suddenly filled it three quarters of the way up. After that, you cast another spell to boil the water, your face relaxing a tad as you reached for the bag of Mandrake root to your right, opening it and retrieving said ingredient. You dropped it in the cauldron with a satisfying plop, observing it carefully. Now, you had to wait fifteen minutes for it to stew, keeping an eye out for when it turned bright green.
You looked up at Severus, who was still scratching away at assignments with his quill. "It'll be around fifteen minutes." You announced, not really expecting a reply. He merely grunted as a weak sign of acknowledgment. That was the best you were going to get currently. You sighed quietly to yourself and decided to take a stroll around his classroom to kill some time.
Heading towards the shelves of jars and containers of rather vile looking ingredients, you clasped your hands together behind your back, stopping to have a look at a jar of rat tails. You grimaced at the sight, quickly moving on to another row of less disgusting looking jarred items. A content hum left your lips as you spotted your powdered asphodel root, placed neatly in a small glass container to the right of a phial of Phoenix tears.
"I see you have a surplus of powdered asphodel root," You commented, turning around to glance at Severus, who to your surprise, was already staring at you. A flash of butterflies shot through you. "You won't need anymore for a while, then?" You cleared your throat, chewing on your bottom lip out of nervousness.
"Not until I brew another Draught of Living Death." Severus replied slowly and coldly, his eyes scrutinising you. You turned around, nodding, tearing your gaze from him, continuing to walk slowly and peek at each jar nosily.
"Do you ever miss certain students?" You asked, catching Snape off-guard. His brows furrowed at you slightly, partially confused at your question.
"Not particularly," He replied slowly again, his mind racing through countless ideas as to why you'd ask such a question. "If that's your way of asking if I miss having you as a student, my answer may hurt your feelings, Y/N." Severus's lips quirked up at the corners into a small, reluctant smirk. In lieu of the familiar rush of irritation surging through you at his comment, you instead found yourself smiling. You were a little surprised at yourself, you half-heartedly expected to take offense at his dig. Severus was surprised at your reaction too, but he did not show it.
"Understandable," You laughed quietly; the butterflies fluttering like a storm in your stomach. "I wasn't the best student for you, if my memory serves me right." Another soft laugh left you. Severus felt himself almost smile at the pretty sound that slipped from your lips. It was a little jarring to see such a change in character in you. He'd prepared himself for you to yell at him again, or at least insult him back.
"No." He agreed, still staring at you. "However, you weren't the worst."
"Who was?" You looked at him this time, genuinely curious. Severus grunted at your question.
"I believe you know. Or, perhaps, can guess at best."
A cheeky smirk perked up on your face. "Benjamin Bluewater?" You stared at Snape, waiting for his answer. He only tilted his head at you, raising his brows a tad. You took that as a yes from him. "Yeah, he was a menace." You hummed amusedly, thinking back to the times Bluewater had caused Snape grief. One time, the boy had set off a rather foul-smelling prank in Snape's classroom, rendering it useless for that period. Snape almost had the boy's head that day for that mischievous mishap. Bluewater was insanely lucky to have another teacher walk by, diffusing the situation.
"Yes," Snape sighed exasperatedly, leaning back in his desk chair. For the first time, you felt comfortable in his presence. It wasn't tense, nor uncomfortable, and you weren't on edge, waiting for an insult. "I don't think I've ever met someone so… distasteful." You frowned at him, obviously in disagreement.
"Lockhart, surely?" You offered. Severus cocked his brow and tilted his head, nodding frankly at you, as if to say 'Yes, that's true'. You laughed and turned around, starting to head back towards your cauldron as it was starting to hiss. "Yeah, he's insufferable." You said as you reached your cauldron and retrieved your wand, using it to stir the stew.
There was a few seconds of silence between you two, only the hissing and bubbling of the cauldron echoing in the classroom. "I'll be sad to see him go." Snape said finally. Your head whipped up at him, a look of shock and confusion on your face. "I won't have the honour of coming across you threatening him in a corridor late at night anymore." He added, his lips quirking up slightly again. A dry laugh left your lips as you turned back to your Mandrake stew. "It was always a thrilling experience each time I neared a corner in a corridor when patrolling at night."
"Funny." You scrunched your nose up, trying to hide the amused smile that was painted on your face. With your attention on something else, Severus couldn't help but let his eyes linger on you for a few more seconds, silently admiring the way your hair fell over your shoulders. "I think it's done, Severus."
"You think or you know it's done?" He quipped, standing slowly to walk over to you, his majestic cloak billowing out behind him. He halted himself beside you, peering into the cauldron.
"I know it's done." You rolled your eyes at him, earning an eyebrow raise from the Potions Master. You had to bite back a smile. "Would you like me to do the potion as well?" You asked jokingly, daring to glance up into his dark, almost black eyes. That was a mistake, your cheeks flared up immediately. You quickly averted your gaze back to the cauldron, hoping he didn't notice.
"I believe I am the Potion Master of this school," Severus glared at you like he was offended you'd even offer that. You tried to hold back your laugh. He was so demanding at times. "Considering your… messy history with potions, I think it would be best if I handled this part." He added with a hint of amusement in his voice.
"You make a great point, Severus." You rolled your eyes and stepped back, awaiting instructions. "Can I at least get the ingredients?" You asked eagerly, sounding like a child. You cringed a little at yourself. "Very well." Severus sighed, his eyes still glued to the cauldron. As he finished speaking, you spun on your heel and headed to where you were strolling earlier. You paused for a moment, realising that you had no idea what the ingredients were. Before you could ask, Severus was already on the case. "Dandelion root, Phoenix tears and purified water." He listed, almost tiredly. You blushed furiously at the fact you'd embarrassed yourself yet again in front of Snape.
"Okay…" You trailed off, eyes frantically searching the shelves. My asphodel root was next the Phoenix tears, you thought, shuffling to the right slightly to reach for the phial of Phoenix tears. Dandelion root must be placed with the other Herbology based ingredients, surely? you wondered. Sure enough, you were right, your eyes landed on the jar of dandelion roots; hand reaching out to grab it. Erm, purified water, purified water… you thought, eyes scanning the shelves, quickly stopping as you spotted it pushed behind a container of fish eyes. "Ew…" You muttered, pushing the fish eyes aside to grab the purified water. Severus had the tiniest amused smile on his face as he watched you search the shelves for the Mandrake Restorative Draught ingredients, he was thoroughly entertained.
As you turned around to look back at Snape, ingredients in hand, your eyes caught his, and you noticed the smile on his lips. It almost made your knees buckle, you'd never seen him smile like that before, let alone at you. Immediately, the smile was wiped from his lips as your eyes connected. It made you a little sad that he felt he had to hide his true emotions from you.
"You are an expert at dawdling, Y/N." Severus commented, his eyes returning to their usual cold and harsh nature.
"Well, not that it's obvious to you, but I don't tend to come in here very much anymore." You quipped back, arching your brow at his words. It was intriguing to you to see just how fast he could just switch expressions. Snape offered you a condescending gaze as he brushed off your sassy reply. "Here, I've got everything you need." You said, placing the jars and vials on the desk in front of the two of you. "Brilliant." Was all Severus said as he barely acknowledged you, his shoulder-length mop of raven-black hair acting like a shield to his face. He was much taller than you, so you couldn't see past it whilst standing beside him.
"Can I watch?" You asked sheepishly, making Snape turn around to look at you. His brows knitted together, observing you silently. With a soft sigh, he turned back around to the cauldron and proceeded to pick up the jar of dandelion roots.
"If you must." Severus replied, a hint of curiosity in his voice. A small, appreciative smile fell on your lips. He glanced at you once more from beside you, sending butterflies soaring through you. You focused your attention onto his hands, watching how his quick and skilful fingers opened each jar gracefully, preparing them for each step. You watched as Severus took a pinch of the dandelion root, gently adding it into the cauldron, careful not to disturb the Mandrake root. After that, he grasped the vial of Phoenix tears with a cautious hand and poured it into the mixture, his eyes lighting up at the bubbles that started to form on top of the potion. Severus reached for the final ingredient of purified water. Dropping it in slowly, the mixture quickly shifted to a muted tone of green.
"Now, let it simmer for a minute or so, then stir it once clockwise, and then twice anticlockwise." Severus instructed sternly, picking up the empty jars and containers.
"Right," You nodded, a little nervous. You couldn't screw it up, right? Stepping forwards, you watched Severus stalk away to the shelves, glass jars and containers in hand. You looked back to the potion and waited for a minute and a bit, before using your wand to stir the green mixture once clockwise, and then twice anti-clockwise. A soft blow of air left your lips as a sign of relief.
"Well done. If only you could have been this competent when you were a student." Snape said sarcastically, peering into the cauldron, his brows raising in approval as he threw a side-ways glance at you. You rolled your eyes at him, fighting the urge to say something back. "Keep rolling your eyes, perhaps you'll find a brain back there." Snape quipped, obviously growing tired of your eye-rolls. It was impossibly hard not to roll your eyes at him right then and there, it was so fitting to do so. "I believe it's ready." He said, nodding once. A happy, proud and prideful grin broke out on your face as your stared at the draught, a sense of accomplishment washing over your small form. As Severus glanced down at you again, he couldn't help but stare at your happy little face, an odd and unusual sensation stirring in his chest. He swiftly turned away from you without saying anything else and headed back to his desk, leaving you alone, hiding his face as the smallest of smiles picked at the corners of his lips.
You had brought the draught to Madam Pomfrey in the infirmary at once. She was ever so grateful and thankful towards you, however, you were rather adamant that it was Severus she should be thanking. "Thank you so much, Professor L/N!" Madam Pomfrey cried with the Mandrake Restorative Draught in her hands, a gasp of relief leaving her lips as she lead you around the corner of a curtain, your body freezing as your eyes fell on a Petrified student. It was Hermione Granger.
"You should really be thanking Severus," You chuckled awkwardly, clasping your hands in front of your hips. "It wouldn't have been made without him, considering he is the Potions Master after all." You said, a hint of a laugh at the end of your sentence. "I only grew the Mandrakes." You added.
"Of course, but the Mandrake is the most important ingredient, do you not agree?" She said, turning to glance at you as she administered the potion to the skin of a Petrified Hermione. It stinged you a little to see a student of yours frozen and paralysed, almost lifeless. So you looked away, your eyes finding an interest in the floor.
"I suppose, but I wouldn't have been able to brew it myself, even Severus himself said I shouldn't." You hummed. Madam Pomfrey rolled her eyes softly at you. You pursed your lips.
"Don't believe anything that gloomy bat says, Professor L/N, you're more than capable of anything if you put your mind to it." She said sternly, her long dress gliding across the floor elegantly as she moved away from Hermione and to the next student behind the next curtain to your left. She left you alone to your thoughts, and perhaps she was right. Maybe you were capable of brewing the potion, but even if you were, you would still rather have Severus do it, especially since it was an urgent requirement. It had to be perfect.
A few days had passed since you had distributed the antidote to Madam Pomfrey and today was Friday, the last day of term for the students before they left Hogwarts to return home to their families for Christmas. Mixed emotions stirred within you as you sat at the table with the other professors, your eyes glazing over the House tables sat in front of you. This term had been full of unusual and unexpected moments, and you were hoping it would simmer down the next term. You weren't too sure whether you'd survive anything like that again. In fact, you were almost positive.
"Hello, and good evening to all," Dumbledore announced, wandering up to his beloved golden Owl Lecturn, his long and worn fingers latching around the wings. "Before we begin to indulge in this excellent feast, let us have a round of applause for Professor L/N," The Headmaster said, almost making you snap your neck from the speed you looked up. You were not expecting Dumbledore to publicly thank you. "Madam Pomfrey, whose Mandrake juice has been so successfully administered to all who had been petrified." He finished, and your cheeks flushed red with embarrassment. You didn't do well being in the spotlight, let alone being thanked by the entire school for something so miniscule in your eyes. You smiled sheepishly and gave a gracious nod at everyone who suddenly erupted into a chorus of cheers and applause. Looking to your right, you caught the eyes of Severus, who, to your surprise, was gazing at you proudly, a small, hesitant smile on his face. You smiled back at him and nodded once, resisting the grin that was itching to break out.
"Also, in light of recent events, as a school treat, all exams have been cancelled." Dumbledore added, which encouraged an even louder round of applause and further cheers. You allowed yourself to grin this time, relishing in the happiness of the students and teachers surrounding you. It was such a pleasant atmosphere, and all you could feel spreading through you was a homely-like warmth. Hogwarts had always been your home at heart, but this seemed to cement it.
Suddenly, the cheering and clapping ceased as the doors creaked open, revealing a very tall, very large bearded man with long, frizzy chocolate hair. He sported some raggedy matching brown clothes, and from this you could easily guess it was Hagrid. Mainly from his sheer height, but the beard and hair was also a dead giveaway. "Sorry I'm late," he announced, glancing around awkwardly, "the owl that delivered my release papers got all lost and confused. Some ruddy bird called Errol." He said, widening his eyes in a tired, yet joking manner. You couldn't help but smile at his comment, and a few quiet giggles fell from some first and second year students.
You leaned to Flitwick who was seated beside you. "Do you know who's owl that is?" You whispered curiously, glancing between the shorter Charms Master and Hagrid. Flitwick looked at you with an amused smile.
"Ron Weasley's owl, of course." He chuckled softly, returning his attention to the scene unfolding in front of him. You hummed. Of course it was, the bird matched his owner very well, you thought, another joyous smile gracing your lips.
"Without further ado," Dumbledore's raspy, wise voice boomed through the Great Hall, capturing everyone's attention. "Let us begin!" He cheered, a wide grin spreading across his bearded cheeks.
Instantaneously, plates upon plates of delicious, mouth-watering food materialised right in front of your eyes. Glorious and juicy roast turkey adorned with all the helpings sat temptingly in front of your placemat, a bowl of golden and crisp roasties to the right of it. Steaming hot green veggies sat to the left of the turkey, and you just couldn't wait to dig in, your stomach was growling like a chained up wolf. You let out a soft gasp at the beautiful sight, your eyes twinkling with delight. After all this chaos in just a few months time, you were all well-deserving of such gorgeous food.
"The food looks absolutely delicious, Dumbledore, thank you." You poked your head past Flitwick, looking at the older wizard with a grin, who had settled himself down in the Head seat. He casted his wrinkled, yet sparkling and wise eyes to you, and nodded graciously. "You are most welcome, Professor L/N." He smiled politely. You returned his smile without a beat and turned back to your plate, using the supplied silverware and utensils to serve yourself some of the rich and brilliant food in front of you.
Conversations and cheerful laughter surrounded you, and you couldn't have felt happier than right now. Whilst chewing on a piece of asparagus, you sneaked a glance at where Severus was sat, however, you found he was not there anymore. A sad frown pulled your brows together, and you swiftly glanced around the hall for a tall, black figure, but nothing caught your eye. You swallowed your mouthful and placed your utensils down on the plate with a soft clink. You turned to Flitwick again.
"Did Severus leave?" You asked quietly, careful to keep your voice down.
Flitwick turned to you, munching away happily on a hot roastie. He nodded before swallowing. "Yes, he tends to avoid these sorts of things. Each year he never fails to leave right before the big feast." The Charms professor explained. A sad knot twisted in your stomach at the thought of him being alone on a such a happy occasion. Though, it wasn't all too surprising. He does seem like the type to prefer to be alone instead of spending it with people he… works with. You pondered on your thoughts for a moment, before deciding to stand up.
"Excuse me." You smiled at the shorter professor beside you, grabbing your plate and loading it with some extra turkey meat, potatoes and some vegetables. Flitwick looked up at you with another mouthful, a little curious as he chewed and watched you get extra helpings with inquisitive eyes. With a full plate in hand, you quickly downed your goblet of wine. Flitwick didn't press you for answers to the nosy questions that were circulating inside his brilliant mind as he watched you head towards the door to the right of the dinner table. You gave him a small, coy smile and bid him a silent goodbye, wandering to the dungeons.
As you were walking in the direction of where Snape lurked, you got those same doubts again, wondering whether he would actually appreciate this act, or be appalled by it. You hoped it'd be the former, but you weren't very confident in that. Swallowing the bubbling anxiety in the back of your throat, you pressed on down the corridors, finding that familiar spiral staircase. You cautiously walked down it, a little wobbly from balancing the plate of hot food and also from drinking that goblet of wine in one go - you weren't a common drinker so in hindsight you probably should have thought that silly idea through a little more. As you reached the bottom of the staircase, you saw that same warm, amber hue of candlelight flooding out from underneath the door of Snape's office. Your heart began to pound in your ears as you neared his door; knees trembling a little bit.
You knocked on his door with your free hand and waited patiently for a reply.
"Come in." Severus said, sighing. You could sense the muted irritation in his tone, your fingers reaching reluctantly for his doorknob. You grasped it and turned it and opened the door. As you sauntered in, Severus didn't bother to look up, his eyes and nose still buried in what looked to be more… assignments. Does the man never give himself time to relax?
"Hi." You squeaked out awkwardly, leaning back against his door, the plate of food still held carefully in your hands. Severus's head shot up almost instantly at the sound of your voice, his brows furrowing together in what you hoped to be confusion rather than annoyance. "Erm, I brought you some food."
"I'm not hungry." Severus protested with a grunt, looking back down to the assignment in his hand. He must be lying, since you don't recall seeing him at breakfast, nor lunch.
"When did you last eat, Severus?" You asked, shuffling in your spot, attempting to hide the caring tone that accidentally slipped from your lips with a pathetic cough. Snape's brows furrowed deeper, a dark crease forming between them.
"What do you want, Y/N?" Severus groaned, his eyes glued to his desk still. You cleared your throat, demanding his full attention. A deep, exasperated sigh left his lips as he reluctantly tore his eyes away from his work, meeting your concerned ones. "Why does it matter when I last ate?"
"Because human beings need to eat." You arched a brow at him. He didn't seem to appreciate the tone you took with him. "I'm not a normal human being, Y/N." He blinked at you.
"Normal or not, you still need some sort of sustenance." You said matter-of-factly, tilting your head at him, silently ending the debate between you two. You padded towards his desk, pulling up a chair from the side of the room at the same time. You were definitely sure that the wine was encouraging your boldness, you even noticed the slight surprise in Snape's eyes as he continued to stare at you. "Will you eat, please?" You asked with a soft sigh, plopping yourself down in the wooden chair with a muted thud. You held the plate of food out in front of you, almost shoving it in Severus's face. His lips twisted for a quick moment, thinking.
"If it means you leave faster, then yes." His eyes narrowed at you like blunt daggers. The hostility was there, but it wasn't intended to be hurtful. Severus hesitantly took the plate from your hands, and slid the assignments out of the way on his desk, sitting the plate down in the middle.
"Oh!" You exclaimed softly, glancing at your dirty cutlery. "I almost forgot. Scourgify." You pulled out your wand and flicked it at the silverware, watching happily as the muck and grime dissipated from it like ice melting under the sun. Severus looked at you with suspicious eyes, scrutinising you, attempting to comprehend why you had paid him of all people a visit. "How come you left so early?" You queried, sitting back in your chair with your hands in your lap.
"Dinner parties aren't my forte." He replied, spiking a piece of turkey breast with the fork. A small smile painted your lips as you watched him place it in his mouth, his eyes lighting up ever so slightly at the divine taste that painted his tongue. "Perhaps I was mistaken…" He mumbled, glancing down at the plate of turkey, potatoes and green veggies, looking rather awestruck due to the glorious taste that was exploding in his mouth as of right now.
A proud smile slipped onto your lips as you looked away from Severus for a moment, letting your eyes wander around his dimly lit, and rather glum looking office. The bricks were a dark, worn black, with a beige cement sitting between them. He had shelves upon shelves of books, about everything you could ever imagine. Name it, and it's most likely there. So, he was a book nerd, you thought, smiling to yourself. Then, your eyes fell on the most beautiful record player you'd ever seen. Obviously, it was all black to match the whole aesthetic of Snape's office. It sat prettily upon a table in the corner, a small collection of well-kept records were leant up against it.
"You listen to music?" You questioned, a dry laugh escaping your lips as you stood up, drawn to the beautiful object.
"Why is that a surprise?" Snape asked, a little offended that you were shocked by such a revelation.
"Well, you don't exactly give me a music enthusiast vibe," You chuckled softly, glancing at Severus with glossy eyes. The wine had gone to your head slightly. "I can't imagine you listening to music." You added, allowing your chuckle to burst into a soft, hushed laugh. Severus rolled his eyes at you and turned back to his desk, shovelling another mouthful of turkey into his mouth, picking up an assignment with his other hand.
You turned your attention back to the record player and let your fingers trace the beautiful grains and grooves of the wood, the pads of your index and middle finger ending up on his record collection. You let your nosiness kick in as you flicked through them, spotting some seventies rock bands, classical compilations, and… Frank Sinatra?
"Frank Sinatra?" You queried with a curious, amused smile, glancing at Severus over your shoulder. Butterflies exploded like storm in your stomach when you found him already staring at you, though the look on his face wasn't what you wanted. He looked a little miffed. "I like Frank Sinatra." You quickly added, wanting to avoid any sort of conflict. You glanced back to where your fingers where dipping into his record collection, a furious pink blush tinting your pale cheeks. As you slipped your hand away, the end of your finger caught the play button, and suddenly the room was filled with a dark, melancholic and slow rock song. Your eyes widened in panic as you tried frantically to turn it off, however, nothing was working.
"Leave it, I… like it." Came a voice from behind you, immediately halting you in your desperate, albeit poor attempts to pause it. Severus was still sat at his desk, but he was sat back now, a little more relaxed.
"It's nice," you commented quietly, after a beat of silence, braving a look at Severus. His eyes were glued to his desk, the plate of turkey and vegetables pushed messily to the side. He seemed to be battling something. You swallowed thickly and sauntered over to him, your heels clacking against the brick floor. You stopped in front of him and held out your hand. "…Dance with me?" You asked, voice still quiet. The Potions Master looked up at you for several seconds, his harsh, dark eyes flicking to your open palm. Your heart was thumping so loud in your ears you were worried you wouldn't hear his answer.
Luckily for you, he didn't give you one. He just plainly accepted your hand, standing slowly, almost reluctantly. You backed away from his desk, one step at a time, his large, calloused and cold hand still in yours. You stopped in the middle of the room, gently pulling Severus closer to you. A smile tugged at your lips as you looked up to meet his cold gaze, placing his other hand on your hip. You began to sway side to side to the slow beat of the song, his fingers flinching slightly as you moved. Severus found himself lost in your eyes as you stared up at him. He wondered why someone like you had offered to dance with someone like him; it felt wrong almost, a Hufflepuff and a Slytherin, good and bad. As the chorus got going, a bright grin broke out on your face as Severus lifted his arm up to twirl you around, the skirt of your dress blooming outwards like a flower. His chest tightened as you stumbled slightly, your hand slipping onto his chest to steady yourself.
"Sorry." you muttered almost inaudibly, looking up at Snape through your lashes bashfully. He didn't reply, he only danced with you more, and you saw his the corner of his lips quirk up in a small, almost miniscule smile. Your heart fluttered at the sight and your smile was back on your face.
The two of you continued to dance carelessly to the song playing in the background, and any worries and anxieties had been long forgotten ever since the two of you touched palms. You found yourself getting lost in his eyes as Severus twirled you around again, a loud laugh leaving your lips as he brought you back towards him, his eyes half-lidded with admiration. You lifted your hand up this time and attempted to twirl Snape around. He almost fought against it, but the sad pout on your lips ultimately broke him, and so he let you twirl him around.
Severus didn't know what he was feeling as his hands found your waist, his stomach was in knots and his chest was tingly, it wasn't normal, and it worried him slightly. But his buzzing, worrisome thoughts were soon calmed the moment his dark, troubled eyes met with your bright, carefree ones. The sound of your laugh made him feel things he hadn't felt in years, and your beaming, gleeful grin sent shivers down his cruel spine. It felt so wrong, but it felt so right having you in his arms; having you this close to him. A few months ago, he wouldn't have dared to dream of feeling so… vulnerable. And with a Hufflepuff no less. Snape had always despised them, he'd believed them to be the weakest house, but your utter resilient yet soft nature had totally swayed him. He'd be lying if he said your beauty hadn't completely captured his attention too, though he would never ever admit that.
You reminded him slightly of Lily, and that's what frightened him. He let himself fall in love once, and he wasn't sure he was going to let himself do it again. Actually, he was adamant. He couldn't bear to deal with that pain again, it almost killed him. He wouldn't be able to stomach seeing you lifeless on the floor, your eyes dead and lifeless. Your life was not worth risking for his sake of happiness. Suddenly, Severus switched emotions like the speed of sound. He immediately released you from his grasp, you grin and laughter silencing immediately. It felt like someone had stabbed him in the heart the second your laughter ceased.
"Get out." He said coldly, pushing you backwards. Your brows furrowed at his words, confusion painting your face.
"…What?" You blinked at him, trying to comprehend what he'd just said.
"I said get out." Snape seethed. His tone was angry, relentless, cruel, uncaring. Before, it felt like you'd just opened another door with him, inviting you into his world, and then you'd been kicked out and sent to a different one.
"But… Severus…" You swallowed thickly, your throat tightening as tears began to burn your eyes. Was it something you said? Something you did?
Little did you know, it was something you did. You'd made him happy, you'd made him feel human again. After so long of shutting off his feelings and building a fortress around his emotions, encasing them in metres and metres of thick, impenetrable concrete, you'd broken through so easily, and it terrified him. His mind instantly shut off, almost like a defence mechanism the moment it felt anything other than hatred or resentment for another person.
Gods, it fucking hurt to see you cry because of him, but he couldn't show it, he refused to let you get hurt, or worse, killed because of his own selfish thoughts. And so he turned his back on you, his black cloak acting like a shield as he leant against his desk with white knuckles.
It felt like everything you'd done to get to know Severus had just been broken down a million times and thrown back in your face. It felt like… betrayal, almost, but you weren't sure why.
Hot tears were streaming down your face now as you stared at his back. He's shut you out. That's it, all those days, months you spent trying to get to know him went to waste. You sucked in a shaky breath and turned around, rushing to the door. You hesitated for moment, glancing over your shoulder. You'd hoped he might've changed his mind, but Snape still had his back turned to you, his head dropped in front of him. A strangled cry left your throat uncontrollably as you stomped angrily out of his office, wiping away your tears with harsh fingers as you stormed back to your quarters. Thank Merlin it was Christmas break now. Perhaps it was for the best.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
“hello?”
the beeping ceased and a familiar voice came from the other side of your phone.
your breath hitched instantly—it’s been so long since you’ve heard his voice. slowly, you managed to respond, “hi, rin. it’s y/n.”
for a moment, a pause shifted between the two of you, neither one saying a word. you closed your eyes in anticipation. perhaps you should’ve said more; perhaps you should’ve given a reason as to why you’d called him so unexpectedly, so spontaneously. you should’ve, but you didn’t.
on his end, you heard papers shuffling accompanied by the sound of a pencil dropping. he was doing homework even while it was past midnight—typical of him. you resisted a somber smile, memories of late night calls together flooding your mind.
rin’s voice cuts through the intolerable silence, something you were grateful for.
“oh, i thought i recognized the phone number,” he said.
his nonchalant tone pained you—his words hurt you even more. you knew the implications: he had deleted your phone number and had already moved on. as you squirmed over your impulsive decision to call him, rin thought nothing of it. clearly, you weren’t over him, and he knew that.
“why’d you call me, y/n?”
you almost didn’t respond, too distracted by his lulling voice saying your name.
“the chemistry professor wanted me to pass you a message. the final project isn’t due next week, it’s due at the end of the month. oh, and that you also left your notebook in his class,” you state hastily.
you had prepared precisely for how to reply in this exact situation. obviously you couldn’t call him out of nowhere—you needed an excuse. even while your mutual friends, osamu and atsumu, had warned you not to reach out, you still did. now you were going to find out whether it was worth it or not.
you heard rin release a soft breath, the sound of his squeaky chair accompanying it.
“so you called to tell me that?” he asked plainly. underneath his unperturbed tone, you sensed his confusion and mild curiosity.
when you didn't immediately respond, he continued, “you could’ve sent an email or a text message.”
you bit your lips—so that’s what he thought of the current situation. of course you had thought about that before calling him. the fear of him seeing right through your excuse plagued your mind as you hovered over the call button. in the back of your mind, you knew you should’ve just emailed or texted him to relay the professor’s message. however, a part of you detested that idea. it reminded you of how you were just classmates now; just acquaintances with mutual friends; just strangers during passing period.
you exhaled heavily, mumbling something underneath your breath as your eyebrows furrowed with exhaustion. maybe you could be honest—was there really anything to lose? keeping your voice steady, you said, “i could’ve, but i just wanted to call you.”
for a while there was nothing but silence. you contemplated ending the call until rin asked, “is that so? or was it because you couldn’t sleep, y/n?”
closing your eyes again, you tugged your blanket closer to your body. he was correct—of course he was correct. you blame the sight of your empty bed; the sight of the neat, gray pillow that he would always hog; the sight of the uncluttered nightstand that he would constantly dump his belongings on, for your impulsive decision to call him. even now, you couldn’t sleep, haunted by the memories of him laying next to you.
your voice became quieter, your eyelids falling loose. “yes and no. you’re right, i couldn’t fall asleep and had wanted to call you, but i didn’t lie about the professor’s message or your notebook.”
“y/n,”—rin’s voice hasn’t changed ever since you’d called him—“do you want me to stay on call with you until you fall asleep? just one last time?”
you paused before replying, a bittersweet smile forming on your face. “yes, if you don’t mind.”
you heard rin pick up some papers and set them aside. you knew what came next: he would reach underneath his desk and pull out a folder containing his lyric sheets and guitar chords. pulling your knees closer to your chest, you couldn’t bear the suffocating nostalgia.
“are you still working on that new song?” you asked hesitantly.
humming in response, rin continued to scribble god knows what down on his paper. maybe they were lyrics or new ideas that had just popped into his head. even while the two of you were still in a relationship, you didn’t get the chance to ask him much about the song. as curiosity swirled around inside your mind, you found yourself in agonizing regret.
however, now you do have the chance to ask him. what genre was the song? what was the inspiration? you smiled to yourself, readjusting your position on the bed. you were filled with boundless inquiries that will never see the light of day—you made sure of it. it pained you, but you were okay with keeping your peace; after all, you didn’t want to remind him (and partly yourself) of the reason why you broke up. surely you’d discover the answers to your numerous questions after the song was released. it’d be easy: you’d just need to ask the internet and boom, you’d have your answers. still, it’s different when you’re asking him directly and hearing the answers from him, and only him.
biting the inside of your cheek, you closed your eyes to the sound of rin tapping his fingers rhythmically against his desk, an old habit of his.
truthfully, the answer wasn’t very complicated: the two of you were just too different. it might sound simple, but underneath that was a challenge even you two couldn’t overcome. your future profession required you to be active, present in one location, while rin—an aspiring musician—has plans on signing gigs and touring around the world. you loved him for that, and because of that love, you ended things with him.
you sucked in a breath.
maybe… rin also felt the same way. maybe he also loved your enthusiasm and passion, but wondered if his absence would hurt you. maybe that was why he had agreed to your breakup proposal without any ounce of doubt or hesitation. in that moment, you didn’t ask why he seemed so unbothered, you simply took your belongings and left. you should’ve asked—you really wanted to know.
when rin spoke, his voice startled your eyelids open. “have you been having trouble sleeping, y/n?”
there it was again, the sound of him saying your name. you blinked away the memories, replying, “yeah. it’s just stress building up, that's all.”
before, it wasn’t so bad—you had rin after all, you would call him and he’d stay on the phone with you until you fell asleep. however, now it was different. you no longer had the comforting sound of his soft breathing lull you to sleep; you were stuck with the silence of your dorm room and the bitter aftertaste of loneliness.
still, you were going to be okay. you had to be okay—not only for yourself, but also for rin. you knew how he’d react if he discovered your numerous sleepless nights.
sitting up in your bed, your fingers traced shapes on top of your blanket. you weren’t going to fall asleep any time soon anyway.
randomly, you broke the silence, “the chemistry professor is really strict, isn’t he?”
you heard rin’s quiet voice from the other side of the phone. “yeah,” he said, “i definitely failed the presentation on friday.”
laughter seeped through your lips. you didn’t mean to, but you couldn’t deny that he did actually fail the presentation—it was the truth. catching your breath, you mused lightheartedly, “what did you expect from pairing up with atsumu?”
quietly, rin sighed—you could bet a fortune that he was currently furrowing his eyebrows. “the man was saying complete nonsense. the things he said weren’t even on the slides.”
you nodded, there was no denying that either. however, you had to give atsumu some credit for his public speaking skills. he may have received a zero in the informational section, but you were confident he aced the speaking and clarity portion with flying colors.
“maybe we should cut him some slack,” you said. “he did make the professor laugh a couple times with his jokes.”
“awful jokes you mean.”
you smiled. “extremely awful—but i’m pretty sure they helped both of you score some extra points.”
you heard rin relax in his seat, his chair squeaking with fatigue. “do you think i’d have a better chance at passing if i paired up with osamu instead?”
you groaned almost instantly at the mention of your partner’s name. while dealing with osamu was 73% better than his blond haired, high maintenance twin brother, osamu was the one who contributed largely to your many sleepless nights.
“based on your groan, i’ll take that as a no,” rin remarked teasingly.
you heaved a sigh. how cruel he was for finding the situation entertaining… as you remembered all the nights where you stressed over the presentation with osamu mercilessly (and unhelpfully) watching you on facetime, you felt a cold shiver down your spine.
“hey,” rin said, his voice lacking any mirth from before. “i thought you did really well. your presentation was good, don’t worry about it.”
your shoulders relaxed and you whispered a quiet “thanks.” he really was cruel; was he even aware of how genuine and considerate he just sounded? probably not, he was like this during your relationship as well. one of the reasons you fell for him was because of how effortlessly caring he was—and it seems, still is.
after a while, you said, “well, positively speaking, osamu does his part well, i guess. he bought me a lot of food during that time too, so he’s not that bad, i guess.”
you heard another one of rin’s quiet chuckles. “you can’t compliment him and then end with ‘i guess,’ y/n.”
“why don’t you try complimenting atsumu then?” perhaps you sounded more irked than intended, but secretly, you were smiling with amusement.
there was a pause until rin eventually said, “that’s hard. he’s just an attention hogger.”
you grinned pleasingly. “that’s true. maybe that’s why he’s dragging me to that party tomorrow.”
“oh, that party? you’re going to it?”
a wave of unease washed over you and you reached to pull your blanket closer. you hummed in response, weary of where the conversation was headed.
“is that so? have fun then,” he said. “take care of yourself and wait before driving. i’m more worried about you than atsumu,” he added with a chuckle.
his voice had remained the same: nonchalant and rin-like—but this time, there were hints of tenderness in there. he really was cruel for catching you off guard like that.
“you aren’t going?” you asked.
“atsumu asked me to go, but i’m busy that day. i’m visiting the studio to finish up the song.”
your silence felt like an eternity, your words getting caught in your throat.
“are you worried about going? if anything goes wrong just call me,” he said as if it had been the easiest thing in the world.
now you really didn’t know what to say. he was so, so, so irritatingly cruel.
“thank you, rin. i’ll make sure atsumu doesn’t pass out and that we get back to the dorms safely.”
“no problem, i hope you have fun.”
you hummed, allowing silence to seep into the conversation. it was nice of him to say that, but deep down, the two of you both knew this was your last phone call together.
reaching towards your nightstand, you turned off your lamp. when you settled back into bed, you said plainly, “i should probably go to sleep now.”
you waited for him to respond, but all he said was a simple “yeah.”
“thanks for staying on call with me, i appreciate it.”
“don’t mention it.”
you smiled. “good night, rin.”
for the next couple of minutes you laid there silently, recalling the previous moments on call with him. you thought about all the laughter the two of you shared, along with all the remarks and silly comments exchanged throughout.
before, you wouldn’t have dared to call him or even speak of him, too sad to consider what it’d be like if you did. now, you wondered how your past self would react upon witnessing what you’d just done.
rin had spoken to you so kindly—so reassuringly. in reality, there was nothing for you to fuss about. to him, he was just glad to hear you’ve been doing well (minus a couple sleepless nights). it was hard to say whether you’re friends again or not, but you were certainly more than acquaintances.
slowly, your eyelids felt heavier and you drifted off to sleep. you wondered how you’d feel in the morning: overwhelmed? energized? or would you still feel empty and stuck as if you were at a dead end? would there be a sense of accomplishment or disappointment at all the unanswered questions left after the call ended?
what was your relationship with him now?
that night you slept soundlessly, you didn’t even notice your alarm blaring at you to wake up in the morning. however, strangely you didn’t feel anything when you awoke—not even annoyance at your troublesome alarm. it was just another day, but with the exception of your friend atsumu dragging you to a party.
as you reluctantly got ready and returned to make your bed, you were reminded of your phone call with rin. what was your relationship with him? you hesitated to answer that question, freezing as you held your blanket in your hands. hastily, you tidied your sheets and rearranged your pillows.
did it really matter? all you could think about was how, regardless of being broken up, rin still cared for you enough to stay on the phone until you fell asleep. he wasn’t angry or defensive, he was just worried. what kind of relationship you had with him now didn’t matter—you and him cared for one another and that was all that mattered.
a smile formed on your face and you got ready to meet up with atsumu. when you grabbed your shoes, your phone rang and you saw a familiar number.
you couldn’t help but burst into laughter. maybe you were excited to go to the party after all.
“sorry, ‘tsumu. i’m coming right now!”

Drunk Confessions pt. 6
Felix x Female reader
Word count: 1.4K
Synopsis: Felix breaks the golden rule when drunk. Stay away from your phone.
Tumblr media
A/N: 18+ ONLY! I promised you guys I'd finish this series and by god I mean to! I'm in a slightly better head space so I'm gonna try and do some writing and see where we get! Thanks for waiting so patiently and showing my old work plenty of love while I've been off. Warnings below the cut!
Warnings: 18+ ONLY MDNI! strong language/cursing, drinking/getting drunk. That's it coming back a little tame. If I did happen to miss something let me know and I'll add it asap!
When you woke up you did what you did every morning. Out of habit, the first thing you did was check your phone. This morning when you checked you had 5 missed texts, one missed call, and a voice memo, all from your best friend, Felix. You read through the texts that got progressively harder to read the drunker he’d gotten into the night. It made you laugh. You were glad he’d been out having a good time with the guys. He didn’t get to do that often with how hard they all worked. Last night they had decided to go out drinking and ended up staying out and clubbing all night.
The voice memo was clearly from when they’d already gotten home because the first thing you could hear was all the rest of the guys goofing off in the background playing video games.
“y/n... hey... uhhh... GOD will you guys shut up I’m trying to talk in here! Uh y/n! You’re asleep already. I bet you look like an angel you always look like an angel when you’re sleeping.”
Sure you thought to yourself, face down in a pillow, drooling like an angel.
“You’re so beautiful and funny and sweet oh my gosh you’re so sweet and you cook good food for me and the guys and your hair smells like coconuts and the beach and it reminds me of home and I remember the first time I laid eyes on you at work and...” Just then you heard Chan’s voice come over the speaker.
“Felix what are you doing bro?”
“I’m sending y/n a voice memo. Chan says hi, anyway, I can’t tell you that you make my heart feel funny when I think about you...”
“Uhhh Felix I don’t think you want to...” Felix gave Chan a stupid look.
“Chan it’s not polite to interrupt.” Chan laughed.
“You’re right mate, continue.” Chan walked back out and Felix tried to pull himself together a bit, unsuccessfully.
“Look y/n... I love you. I am in love with you. I’m so completely and utterly over the moon in love with you. From the moment I met you. It was love at first sight for me, I didn’t even know your name but you were glowing and laughing and I felt my heart jump for the first time and it has every time I’ve seen you since. I hope one day I can tell you, that I can kiss you, marry you. I see all that with you I just don’t want to ruin what we have. We’re so close and you’re my best friend and I couldn’t bare losing you and honestly I’m afraid of what your answer would be. I know you care for me, love me even, but I just don’t know if you’re in love with me. God I’m rambling at this point, you’d think I was a drunken fool... well I am.” Just then you could hear Chan walk in again.
“Seriously mate I don’t think you want to send that...”
“I’m not Chan I’m gonna dele-” The message cut off and you could only imagine the absolute chaos that ensued after Felix accidentally hit send. He looked away from the phone for 2 seconds and unintentionally let up off the mic button which then sent the voice memo. Straight to you. Your heart was ready to burst. He was in love with you?! That had to have been the sweetest confession you’d ever heard. You were glad Felix’s silly drunk self sent you the voice memo before he realized what he was doing. You were getting ready to dial Felix’s number but before you could his contact photo popped up showing he was calling you. You answered immediately.
“Y/n?! Hey...”
“Hiya Lixie! You're up awfully early considering...” Your smile was in your voice and Felix couldn’t help but smile too until he remembered why he was calling.
“Uh yea... y/n... I sent a voice memo last night do me a favor... just delete it. Don’t listen to it just... please just delete it.” You could hear the worry in his voice.
“Felix? I... I already heard it.” The wind was knocked from him, you could hear it over the phone as he let out a big breath.
“Y-you already listened to it?!”
“Well yeah Lixie you know the first thing I do is...” Click. Did he just? Hang up on you? You looked at the phone and saw your home screen. You sighed and called him back. No answer. You called again. No answer. You called again. Straight to voicemail. So dramatic. You called Chan and a grumbly hungover voice answered.
“Mhello?”
“Chan it’s y/n. Is Felix home?” Chan wasn’t sure.
“Hold on. LIX!!!” You could hear him shout back.
“WHAT??!” Chan breathed deeply into the phone.
“Myea he’s here.”
“Good I’m on my way, keep him there and do NOT tell him I’m coming.”
“Y/n I...”
“Chan.” He groaned out tired.
“Finnnneee!” You smiled.
“Thanks Channie! See you soon!”
“Mhmm see you soon.” You quickly washed up and got dressed before heading over to the guys’ place. You knocked on the door and were met by the same groggy Chan you’d spoken to on the phone.
“Is Felix still here? You didn’t tell him did you?” Chan rubbed his eyes and shook his head no.
“No I didn’t, he’s in the living room with Hyunjin and Changbin watching something on tv.” Chan moved out of the way letting you in and yawning as he shut the door behind you. You came around the corner into the living room and Felix saw you. You’d have thought he’d seen a ghost how big his eyes got.
“Lix-” He got up and dashed out of the living room heading to his own room, shutting and locking the door. The guys looked at you and you rolled your eyes exasperated.
“What was that all about?” Hyunjin finally asked.
“Lix sent me a voice memo last night...” Chan started laughing.
“Oh god I forgot.” You glared at Chan.
“Don’t laugh, he’s embarrassed and won’t talk to me because of it.” Chan stopped laughing and wiped his eyes.
“It’ll be okay as soon as you tell him.” You stood there with your arms crossed.
“What do you mean? Tell him what?”
“Well, you love him too, don’t you?” You stood there speechless for a second.
“What did you think it wasn’t obvious? You both are so ridiculous. If he hadn’t accidentally sent that to you who knows how long this would have gone on.” You stood there a moment and then just shook your head. You made your way towards Felix’s room to try and get him to talk to you. You tapped at the door.
“Lixie? Please talk to me.”
“No Felix here!” He called through the door. Then a thought hit you. What if he wasn’t just embarrassed? Was he avoiding you because he regretted sending it? You don’t think your heart could take it if it wasn’t true. If he didn’t really love you.
“Are you ashamed that you sent it? Did you... did you not mean it?” He could hear the pain and worry in your voice.
“If you didn’t mean it it’s... it’s okay. I’ll just... I’ll just go.” You should have thought this plan through better before dashing over. Felix quickly opened his door.
“Wait!” You stopped and turned back.
“I’m not ashamed and I did mean it.” You let out a little sigh of relief.
“Felix I came over here to tell you that I love you too.” Felix stood there stunned.
“What?”
“I love you too Lixie. I always have. How could I not fall in love with the most beautiful and kindest man I've ever met?” Tears were welling up in your eyes and Felix grabbed your hand.
“I meant every word I said on that voice memo last night. I’m madly in love with you y/n...” Before he could go on you leaned in and pressed your lips against his. One of his hands came up and cupped your cheek and he kissed you back sweetly.
“Told you.” You and Felix jumped at Chan’s voice.
“Jesus! Announce yourself when you enter a room.” You scolded Chan as Felix blushed and rubbed the back of his neck.
“I entered the hallway to go to the bathroom I didn’t realize that warranted an announcement. My apologies.” Chan said sarcastically before heading into the bathroom.
"Behold bathroom I have arrived! Fear me!" He shut the door as he continued announcing himself boisterously leaving you and Felix alone again. You both stood there awkwardly for a second before Felix cleared his throat.
“Uh, why don’t we go and have some breakfast and talk a bit.” The smile spread across your face again.
“I’d like that Lixie, I’d like that a lot.”

You woke up, as always, with the sensation of your body floating. This sensation, and your memories of last night's events were fuzzy at best. You knew you had been out drinking with friends from work, and that it was a Friday night.
So why was it still raining outside?
And how did you get back to your apartment building?
You didn’t remember going anywhere you were intoxicated with alcohol to the point where you had to be watched over, like some damsel in distress, and your boyfriend had to come to the rescue scopping you up in his arms like a princess taking you back to the car.
Driving home in the heavy downpour, he would hold you tenderly against him like you were a broken toy in need of repair. He would kiss your cheek when you asked for help getting out of the car, which he seemed more than happy to do. And even though you would feel bad about it later and tell him so, you would secretly admit that this memory of being held lovingly by your knight in shining armor really warmed your heart. Anyways that wasn’t the point.
You had awakened finding yourself in the empty bed.
There was no sign of your knight in shining amour of a man who had been there when you fell asleep. You wondered if he had left somewhere today —he did, and you checked that your purse was right next to the bed and the phone still sitting untouched on the nightstand. Picking up the phone and having texted him to see where he was, so that you can bring him food.
“Hey, love. wya rn?” Had been sent and read at 1:30pm.
*Leon sent one attatchment with image*
“At the gym, babe. Hope you like this. ;)” He replied back.
As you clicked on the image it’s him showing off his abs in the gym mirror, in a black compression shirt (of course with his shirt lifted just a bjt revealing his pack). His face was turned away so you couldn’t quite see it properly, but you could see the muscles rippling.
‘That's better than I expected,’ was all you said. As soon as you typed this, you hit send, but not before thinking to add a quick ‘Love you xo!’, It was a picture that you liked, because it showed his abs well in contrast with his hair —and the dimpled smile plastered on his face that he was obviously trying to hide.
You also thought of sending another message asking if he wanted you to bring him lunch, which he said yes to immediately after reading the text.
It was a nice way to spend an evening, especially considering you didn’t want to stay home alone. But now it was time to go out to see him. The last thing you needed to do was either decide to pick food up or make it yourself. If you chose to buy something for both of you to eat, there was no reason you should be this indecisive right now because either way he’d still appreciate both options. After making that decision, you decided to text him that you are on the way, meaning that you’re going to resort to just picking up food.
So grabbing some things from the kitchen, you grabbed your coat, put on your boots, and got ready to leave. You head to your car and started the engine. Your stomach rumbled, reminding you that since you haven’t eaten anything since breakfast, you need food first. With a shrug, you start driving to the closest restaurant you know Leon likes. You know he goes there every other week for lunch with the team.
It took a little while, but finally you found a parking spot. Walking into the building, your eyes scanned the room, odering it to go and paying. The food came out quickly than you imagined, yet it was starting to feel like a better day due to the fact you can leave a lot quicker to see him.
The gym was at least five minutes away , maybe ten. No problem there, then. When you left the restaurant, your next destination was nearing end, and you parked exited the vehicle , heading towards the front door. Just as you approached it, you could see Leon working out through the window and you were excited to see him.
Almost running inside, you place the bag of food next to him, as he is doing his pushups. “I brought food…” Your hand moved towards the bag, but stopped short at the last second, feeling a bit weird about the gesture. You looked at Leon and saw that his eyes were closed, his chest moving fast as he was pushing himself up and back down off the floor.
He looked good doing so…
He looked like a hero, to be exact.
“You won’t mind if I sit down would you?” You asked tentatively. Leon opened his eyes and glanced at you with a raised eyebrow. “Not at all.” A small smirk made its way onto his lips. “You’re my guest. Sit down wherever you’d like.” You grinned mischievously sitting down on his back, as he continued to do his workout.
You could feel him tense up slightly from underneath you, then relax again, but it didn’t seem to be a problem that you were on him, however, he didn’t seem to break a sweat at all. He just kept doing what he was doing without breaking stride. After a minute you started to think he could do it forever, until he told you “Aright, I’m gonna need you to get off of me, princesses.” his words made your face flushed, when you got up off of him He stood up he wiped his forehead with a towel, then turned around to look at you, raising an eyebrow. “What? Why? Did you find something wrong with my form?” He laughed. Of course he wouldn’t have noticed if that you were blushing, but it was obvious due to the fact you were a tomato red.
“No, silly! Just wondering why you called me princess..” The way you spoke made your cheeks heat up even more. Leon smiled, “Well, I figured that since you’ve spent most of the weekend sleeping with me, I guess it only made sense to let you know you’re my princess.” He smiled. “Plus,” he chuckled, “It’s attached to me ever since you keep calling me your knight in shining armour.”
Your face brightened as you giggled. “I only thought to mean that you belonged to me.” You looked up at him as if your gaze could melt him. He chuckled. “You have been mine for quite sometime now, dear, you can hardly blame me for thinking so.” He finished smiling down at you, leaning down to press his lips briefly against yours.
After a short silence, you pulled away from him and said “Well, that’s not a fair tradeoff at all. I don’t want you claiming me because you’re stuck with me. I want you to claim me because we’re in love.” Leon raised his eyebrows at you. “Why did we ever choose to date each other?” He joked lightly.
“Well, it was either that or get married.” You joked. Leon bursted out laughing at your joke. “True. We do fit perfectly together, don't we?" He looked down at you and stroked your face softly. You nodded, smiling. Suddenly the sound of rain hitting the roof outside was heard. “Looks like it’s about to pour hard again. We’ll have to take home then.” He looked outside the window.
“Yeah...” You agreed sadly. “But I don’t wanna take home yet.” You pouted. “Oh… Well... we can eat our food first. Then we'll leave…” His voice sounded very reluctant, you realised as his eyes flickered away from your face. “Or we could do both. We’ll eat, then we’ll leave, then we’ll come back here later next week?” You suggested. “Sounds like a plan. Let’s hope that everything goes okay today. If it doesn’t, well then...” Leon trailed of. “Well, we’ll try and figure something else out.” He shrugged, giving a half smile.
“Let’s hope we’re not stuck waiting for hours.” You said, shaking your head. Leon hummed, agreeing. As you both ran towards the car with everything getting in the car, the sky seemed to darken significantly. It looked ominous. And as you drove along the road back home you knew that this would be one of those days, where everything seems to go wrong and there’s nothing that can fix it.
When the two of you arrived home, you dropped your bags on the ground before heading upstairs to grab a change of clothes from the bathroom. Leon sat down on the sofa and started watching tv as he waited. After a few moments, you came back downstairs and put a moive on, as you were about to binge and eat your food. You walked over to the couch and sat down beside him, taking a bite from your sandwich before you continued talking to him.
“So, how long do you think the rain will last?” You asked looking out the large front windows, seeing the heavy grey clouds outside. Leon glanced at his phone. “I’m not sure, princess. It looks like we’re going to get some pretty bad weather soon. We might have to call it early, and get some rest.” You nodded. “Maybe you’re right.”
‘Hopefully we won’t get any storms tonight though. If we get a storm, I won’t be able tp sleep tonight…’ you sighed to yourself. As you ate, and watched the TV, and talked with Leon, time passed by quickly.
You had finished eating and you hadn’t really gotten much sleep so you ended up falling asleep laying on his chest, your head laid comfortably against his shoulder, your arms holding tightly onto his shirt as you slept, completely oblivious to the fact that you were wrapped in Leon’s arms. As you were slowly drifting off you felt Leon’s head ontop of yours, while he was asleep as well.
As you both fell asleep in a warm embrace, the rain never stopped pouring down and you woke up the following morning covered in a blanket, snuggled close to Leon’s body. You stretched your limbs lazily and yawned deeply. Once you felt the need to wake him up, you tried to move but suddenly he hugged you tighter and placed a soft kiss on top of your hair. “Mmmh…. good morning~.” You said, still half asleep. Leon groaned in response as his arm tightened around your waist. “Heyyy... I was hoping you’d stay a little longer with me....” you giggled quietly and placed another light kiss on top of his hair. Deciding to stay with him long, leading you both to falling back asleep in an extremely peaceful position.

There’s a quiet inside of this open air. It expands and fills, and soon, you’re walking through the thick, tangible quiet. And if you listen, if you really listen, you can hear the pulse of the world, the old hum we almost remember, the old language etched into us.
It’s a strange thing, to hear the quiet.
One day, I’ll be quiet forever.
One day, I’ll exist in the space between words.
One day, you’ll hear me whispering into the open air, singing something you can almost understand.
I closed my eyes, fantasized about a quiet life.
Suddenly, I feel at home.
But when I opened my eyes, I started to see shapes.
I’m somewhere.
Just not here.

September 23, 9:34 a.m.
I feel awful.
I don’t even know what happened yesterday.
DId I do something crazy yesterday?
With my head still resting on the pillow, I reach beneath the blanket to find my phone. I lifted my head off the pillow and browsed through my lock screen as soon as I did. Many of Jisung's missed messages.
Did I say some wild shit last night??
[J.0ne] yo das was honestly the most beautiful speech ive ever heard in my entire life
I don’t want to know.
With a grumble, I forced myself to get out of bed in the hopes that taking a shower would help me feel less disgusted. I put on a large, baggy shirt that was sitting on top of my toilet after I finished my shower. I looked in the mirror as I began to wash my teeth. I look like fucking shit.
Hey, don’t be mean to yourself.
I have the worst face on earth.
Well, I mean, you look totally awesome in that big old band shirt you totally did not steal from that one little vendor at the mall where an old man just makes the graphic shirt for you.
I straightened up my posture and placed my hands on my hip, looking at the shape of my body.
I should lose weight.
Nah, you look fine.
No, I don’t. I should really stop eating a lot.
It’s cool, dude. Not everyone needs to be super duper skinny!
Fine, I should be more positive about myself, whatever the internet says. I am just a real human being.
My hands slipped off my hips, and I stood there straight, staring blankly at myself.
And no one can prove that I’m not.
I should read the messages my friends sent me.
After hurrying to my room to find my phone, I nervously went through the messages Jisung had sent me. I texted him back after learning that he hadn't given me many details about what I had done the previous night.
[C0conut] wat rlly happened last night
[J.0ne] sum beautiful speech that u did in front of lino i dunno i dun rememebaer anythanng
[VanDivision] you called him a cute boy.
[CB97] And then you puked on his shirt again hahaha
[C0conut] ಠ_ಠ he prob hates me again
[J.0ne] whu CARRRESS plssssss come by chris outlet job stuff work now me me bored here
I shrugged and let out a breath before tossing my phone onto my bed. I decided to keep this large t-shirt on, find some jorts, and throw on another flannel. Despite the fact that I had lost my other pair of Converse shoes, these fucked up black vans will have to do. My name was called from the kitchen as I sauntered down the stairs. I figured the breakfast was ready.
“Heya mom, what’re we having today?”
"Hey, sweetie, you look awful!" Mom giggled as she set down a plate with a sandwich and a bowl of soup. "For breakfast, we're eating sandwiches and soups. Plus, you went to a party; I'm not sure how much you drank, but you needed this soup anyway."
"Awesome." I dug in with my spoon and sipped the warm liquid down my throat, feeling relaxed.
"Rough night?" Mom went on, holding up a book to read.
“You know it.”
“You wanna talk about it?”
You hummed, “I saw Minho.”
“Did you talk to him?”
“A little bit.”
"Give it some time. He will get to you." She flicked through another page of her book, "I believe most of the repair workers have left the town center. Some shops are still under construction, though."
"Oh really?" Taking a bite out of the sandwich, I said.
"I remember how much you enjoyed climbing some buildings."
"I've thought about doing it again."
"No, sweetie. You should go to jail for that, no?" Mom arched an eyebrow at me.
“They’ll never catch me!”
“Your aunt will catch you.”
“Boooo.” I dropped the almost eaten sandwich and slouched down. "I'm going to finish this later, mom; I have to go."
“Alright, well, have fun! Stay safe!”
I quickly grabbed my shoulder bag from the hanger and bolted out the door. I'm getting a little eager for autumn as I stroll down the street and feel the cool morning breeze. I saw some of the local businesses were closed as I passed by them and noticed a group of elderly men gathered around one of the stores.
"There won't be Stormvillie if we don't start doing business right." Says the tall old man dressed in a business suit.
"Well, it appears that we must take whatever action we can." Says a different large, bearded man. "To make the market take note of us!"
Huh, wild. On my left, where I used to go since I was a child, was the closed doughnut shop. A lot of stores are really closing down.
"Will, you're not listening- it's not of sufficient historical note."
"Brother, most folks don't even give a damn about our jobs anymore. Our pay is really low!"
"There must never be another fight at a stop sign."
I left nonetheless, not wanting to listen in on some of the things adults like to talk about, and went past the old pizza place I used to and still enjoy. The pizza place is still open, at least. Perhaps I should bring my buddies here. Maybe with Minho.
The middle schooler was once more playing on his Nintendo while perched on the seat next to the statue. I looked up at the bronze statue of the man who built this town, the man holding up his axe. The child was still engrossed in the game and was not aware of my presence when I peered down at him.
"Shouldn't you be at school?" I asked, looking down at the child.
"I'm gonna skip." His little fingers hitting the buttons with aggression, his eyes fixed on the game rather than me.
“Geez.”
The boy lost the game and groaned out of frustration, “I’ve been going at this game for hours! And I still didn’t get it.”
“What’re you playin’ this time?”
“Star Wars; Battlefront.”
“Seriously? Star Wars?”
“You don’t like them?” Lori let out a cry and held his palms over his mouth dramatically. “All of my friends are playing the Star Wars games! One of my friends said they’re coming over tonight to play the games with me on my nintendo 64.”
“I just don’t get the hype.” I shrugged.
“Hmph!” He again folded his arms in a drama queen manner, then rose from his chair and grabbed the skateboard that was next to him. "Hey, you wanna go to the library for a second?" Lori asked, gesturing to the neighborhood library across the street.
I look at him, then at the library, and I start to wonder if I have time left at all. "Sure," I nodded.
"There used to be strange little letters hidden in some of the books. My friend and I would open every book to find more, sort of like on a scavenger hunt!" Lori kept talking while we strolled towards the library.
“Weird letters?”
“Yeah! Some letters are about odd cult shit or something.” Cult?
Lori wandered the library, trying to find a certain book. I trailed after him to the Bible area, where I watched him leaf through the books, choose one, and hand it to me. I found the letter by grabbing and turning the pages. "I was not made for this kind of test," the paper said in such a hurried handwriting when I unfolded it. “I will fall apart. I will not stay. I will come undone, and you will never see me again."
"This letter is so weird, right?" He chuckled: "I think there's someone in town trying to troll some gullible kids here for fun."
"Could be. Not really remotely close to odd cult shit, whatever you say, but close enough."  I remarked, still staring at how familiar the handwriting was.
“Lori, did you save the other letters?” I shoved the letter in my pocket.
“Nope, Mom threw it away. She thought it’s a curse or something.” He shrugged, taking out his nintendo sitting on the table.
“Bummer. I’ma go now.”
“Bye, killer!”
“Okay, now don’t call me that.”

“Yeah, he’s cute but what are his critical thinking abilities? His political stance? Socioeconomic aspirations?”Jisung began talking nonsensically as soon as I entered the store. Chan, dressed in black dress slacks and a white button-up shirt, leaned against the counter and wore an elegant gold watch that his father had most likely given him. Then there's Jisung, the typical punk, decked out in his trademark red and black. Worn-out black leather jacket with a revolution illustration and a few words scattered throughout it, paired with cargo trousers and tall boots. You already know it.
"What is happening here?" Asking, "Are you seeing someone?" I broke up the talk between the two men' talk, who beamed at me.
"What? No way!" Jisung waved his hand in denial. I stared at the blue-haired man one more time after turning to look at Chan for confirmation. He was stifling his laughter. "All right, maybe, but..."
"Who is it, though?"
"All right, so this guy that I've been chatting with online for a few months now has been arranging to meet me here," Again rambling, he leaned on the counter, clasped his hands together, and bowed his head. "Vanna, on the other hand, does not approve of me going on a date with this guy because I did not know what the guy looked like in person. So this motherfucker is setting me up with another guy.”
“Woah, you don’t know what he looks like? Han, don’t you think that’s pretty alarming?” I frowned, “Vanna is right though.”
"Yeah, but he's sweet, a smooth talker, and so caaaring. She's matching me up with someone I'm not supposed to see until we go on the date, which is scary enough than meeting up with a guy I've talked to already!" Jisung turned around swiftly, looking away from us and folding his arm like if he were a cartoon character being betrayed by bunny bugs or something.
"Dude, whatever." I looked over at Chan, who was arranging the pricey, ornate jewelry and watches—some of which were vintage—on the front table. I browsed the store, enjoying how cozy and antique it seemed—like a grandpa's store in London. It seems to make sense that his father owned the store. "Chan, do you know about shops being shut down?"
"Yes," he said, perking up and nodding before returning his attention to organizing. "What about it?"
"Will this store close down as well?"
"Well. Who knows, probably. In any case, my dad does things his own way."
“...”
“...”
"Would you not want to go to, you know, Los Angeles or somewhere else, if you were so rich? Live in a big modern house?" I inquired, unsure whether it was insensitive or not. But he knew I was always curious.
"I wish it was that simple, Cora," laughed Chan.
“Simple? Don’t you have zillions of dollars to be able to do it anyway?”
“Crazy of you to think we have THAT amount of money.” He snorted, shaking his head.
"I wish I had an answer for you, kiddo. But recently, things have become more complicated." He stooped to pick up the boxes, which he then carried behind the counter and placed on the floor beside numerous other unopened boxes. Jisung gave us both a perplexed look, and I shrugged at him, feeling uncomfortable and guilty for being overly curious. "Well, I apologize for the sudden mood change. You guys wanna get pizza later today when I’m off work?”
“Oh yeah! Good thing that Marinara Magic is still open.” I exclaimed, getting excited at the thought of us getting together to eat pizza like little kids again.
"Dude, right now I would kill for a pizza!" Jisung leaped to his feet and followed Chan inside the office. I followed them both as well and went inside what appeared to be Chan's father's office, however he seemed to spend more time here than his father. While the worker was busy finishing up tasks and they were busy chatting, I kept myself occupied by wandering around the office and taking in the many framed awards and certificates. A computer was situated atop an extremely cluttered desk, alongside numerous loose work documents and a few images pinned to the wall beneath the desk. The pictures showed him with his sister, his family, and all of us together. When I gazed upon the following picture, Chan, Minho, and Felix were posing at a high school graduation in their gowns. They wrapped each other's shoulders with their arms while grinning broadly. I turned to face Chan, who was rummaging through the drawers. Even if all he did was dye his hair bright red, which turned into an unpleasant pinkish tone, and he gained weight, he still looked very different. Even though he was only 23, he appeared a little older than his actual age. Maybe, he didn’t sleep at all again.
I looked at the picture once more, focusing on the boy with brunette hair who was standing next to Chan. I would never be able to pretend that Minho wasn't the cutest kid in high school. Everyone was all over him. He was way out of my league. Even though he is much more stylish and handsome now, his face appears really worn. How am I going to face him next time I see him?
Felix, a ginger freckled boy, stands to the right. I couldn't remember when we had last spent time together. A few months after graduating, he stopped playing in our band and became distant from us. Suddenly, he disappeared from our lives. With his long hair, he now had a much more bad boy appearance, according to the missing poster. He had been, always.
"Hey Cora, would you mind checking to see if they have batteries at the grocery store? I need to work on this..." Chan looked at the surveillance cameras he had taken out of the drawer as he gave me the money. "Vanna works there."
"Oh, sick. I guess I should go then." As I was going to leave the store, Jisung yelled, "GET US SNACKS!" as I snatched the money and jammed it in my pocket.
"YA GOT IT!" I yelled in response.
Since the grocery shop was down the street, the walk wouldn't be too far. Across the street was Poppy's Coffee as well. I thought about going to visit Minho, maybe apologize, and ask him to go have pizza with us later. He used to be my best friend, therefore I should really make it up to him, but the thought frightened me.
Vanna wasn't behind the counter when I went inside the store to look for her. I went through the snack aisle and picked some snacks as well as drinks. I swung around to see Vanna standing directly in front of me, staring at me with no emotion.
"Are you trying to find anything?" Dropping the box and restocking the shelves, Vanna asked nonchalantly.
“You scared me, dude.”
“My bad. Your head’s okay?”
“Oh, yeah, a little.” I rubbed my head. “You got any batteries?”
“Yeah, behind the counter. What type?” She stopped restocking to go to the counter and searched through the variety of different batteries.
“Type? Shit, I dunno. Chan just said he needs some for the camera or something.”
“What kind of camera? Is it a film?”
“Looks more like a security camera.”
Vanna slammed the product on the counter and began scanning the rest of the items. Vanna didn't seem to buzz, but the sudden loud hum coming from the freezer distracted me.
“Store looks busted.”
“A lot of shit went down this summer. My boss said he’d order for repairs, but I don't see any motherfucker to come fix it and it’s been months.” As she pushed the objects she had completed scanning in my direction, she said. “No plastic bags either. Someone usually has to bring their own big bag. Better for the environment.”
“Cool.” We both stood silently, just staring at each other.
“So..”
“I didn’t mean anything I’ve said yesterday.”
“It’s cool. I barely remember half of it, honestly.”
“Yeah, me neither. You really need to chill when it comes to drinking.”
“Was it really bad?” I tried not to watch the memory again in my mind as I shamefully rubbed my head.
“Everyone forgot it. I’m sure Minho finds it funny now.” Vanna said as she scrolled on her phone.
I hit my head on the counter and moaned. I'm worried about what Minho thinks of me now, more than whether there's an image somewhere of me getting wasted.
"Do you hate Minho or something?" Sincerely curious, I inquired, recalling vaguely what Vanna had said about him the previous evening.
“No, I was just upset. Just wanted to bring someone up to blame. I should learn not to.”
“Hm. You wanna go for a pizza with us? Jisung, Chan, maybe Minho.”
“I’m still working.” Vanna looked up from her phone, furrowing her eyebrow.
“Like later.”
“Sure.”
“Sick.”
“...”
“I should stop by Minho’s work…”
“Good luck, man.”

I crossed the street tensely, imagining what I should say or how I should apologize as I made my way to Poppy's Coffee. Hesitantly, I paused in front of the store entrance, debating whether or not to go inside or simply walk out and travel to space, never to return. Someone from inside the store opened the door before I could even extend my hand, revealing Minho. His lovely reddish-brown hair and honey complexion glistened in the sun's rays. He gave me a radiant smile.
"Cora! I was just wondering if you were okay." With a broad smile, he flashed his bunny teeth. "I kind of ran to open it for you after seeing you standing there for a minute. You know, you just gotta be a gentleman. Come inside, Co!" Minho laughed as he greeted you with a smile at the rustic coffee shop. The room had a pleasant aroma of roast coffee, antique, charming vintage tables and chairs, and a lot of fairy lights hanging from the ceiling. Since I left, the shop's entire style has evolved. He obviously decorated it, as I could tell. "Oh, and you still enjoy mocha, correct? I can do it right now!" His excitement and sudden outburst of energy reveal a new aspect of him that makes my eyes widen in disbelief.
"What's up with you?" Watching him run in circles and start preparing coffee for me, I blurted out.
"I'm just happy to see you back home," Minho smiled at me, really sweet, and then gathered everything to make coffee on the counter.
“I don’t have any money, dude.”
“On the house!”
“Free drink.. Sick..” I found a table and sat down, observing him prepare a drink. With his small watch on his wrist and a brown apron on top, he had his sweater sleeves rolled up. Now that his hair was groomed, his entire face was visible to me. I completely understand why so many girls were over him. It makes sense that he has a girlfriend. Oh, right.
"I apologize for last night." I looked down, embarrassed, trying to scrape the skin off my arm. And a little disappointed that he actually had a girlfriend.
“Oh, that’s no problem! You were just.. being you again.” With a giggle, he looked up at me and flashed his rabbit teeth once more. "You don't have to buy me a new shirt, by the way. I could easily wash it."
"Well, yeah, I know. I've puked on you twice already, it's ridiculous." I laughed along with him.
"Your hot mocha is here! It's getting chilly outside, and see, I drew you a cat!" Minho approached my table gingerly and set the mug down carefully, revealing a white kitten sketched in cream. Still grinning and gazing at me, he took a seat in front of me as well. I was able to get a closer, clearer look at him. He looked very tired, but his cute big smile topped it off.
“Since when do you know how to do this?”
“My mom taught me when I started working. It’s kinda therapeutic actually.” He giggled once again. “God, I’m so giggly today. Maybe, you’re finally here with me again like the good old times.”
“Couldn’t agree more.” I took a sip of the hot mocha and realized it was the best drink I had ever had. "I had a brownie with my coffee the last time I drank it in college, and it tastes really bitter."
Minho snorted, "Obviously, chocolate tastes much sweeter than coffee itself. Of course it will taste bitter."
“I miss Felix’s brownies.”
“Right, Felix. Do you know about it?”
“Yeah, I always wonder why he left.”
“You think he left? Not like being kidnapped or something?”
“Do you think he was kidnapped?”
With a sigh, he palmed his face and rested his elbow on the table. "Just a hunch on my part. To be honest, nobody in the town seemed to be making any effort to find him. Chan and his family may have tried, but they got nothing."
"Why did you stop talking to Chan and Han?"
"Well, it was a bit complicated." Minho tightened, straightened his back, and gave me a sincere look. "Listen—I am deeply sorry for how I treated you when you told me you were going to college about two years ago."
“Hey, it’s all chill, dude.”
“No, it’s obviously not. I know you were drunk last night, but everything you said, I’ve thought about it a lot since.”
“I was just out of my mind. I don’t even remember half of it. Vanna even told me I called you cute, so that’s awkward ‘cause y’know you have a girlfriend and all.” I blurted it out, sulking, and nodding till I turned to face him, who appeared confused.
“...”
“...”
“What?”
“I don’t.. have one?” His head was cocked in confusion at me.
“Dude, that girl at the party, y’know-”
“Pretty sure she’s a lesbian.”
“Oh.”
“I kinda had to dip when she started making out with that girl which lasted for like a long minute.”
“Ooh.”
“Yeah.”
“Oooh.”
“Mhm.”
“Sorry.”
“It’s good.”
“Have you ever had one?”
“Why?”
I scowled at him as I sagged into my chair and folded my arms. "Well, have you seen yourself?" I asked.
"I'm not really chasing it." He was moving a little stiffly, suddenly tense.
"Yes, whatever, boo, tomato," I said.
"Someone has been on my mind for a very long time, and still is." In the end, Minho said, "Just not ready to tell them."
"Oh." I forced myself not to get emotional as I imagined Minho to have feelings for someone who is completely unlike me. "Whatever, do you want to join me, Han, Chan, and Vanna for pizza?"
"Oh? I'll see if I can stop by, but I'm kind of busy all day." Minho smiled.
"Well, I missed us all together."
"I know, sorry, I've been busy a lot lately." The bell at the door rings, announcing that the customers have arrived. He let out a sigh and rose from his chair, eager to resume his job. "I have to go right now. I'll try to see and come by, okay?" Minho smiled at you one last time before returning to his job.
I nodded slowly and watched him as he began to take orders and put back his apron. I got up from my seat and exited the store, expecting to meet him later.
Tumblr media
I bet it still looks the same as when I ran away that day
Tumblr media
Everyone was at the Marinara Magic eating pizza and sides and sitting and talking to one another. The realization that the two years I had been waiting for was finally here nearly took my breath away. Even though Chan was trying to talk them out of being too loud and scared that the staff could kick us out, Jisung was being playful as usual with Vanna and they were fighting over pizza toppings. But I was disappointed that Minho wasn't here yet. It appears that the kids are still not on good terms with him. For the last twenty minutes, all I could look at was the front entrance. While Jisung was still yapping and Chan was on his phone, Vanna appeared to notice but chose not to speak out.
Maybe, it’ll be too awkward if he comes.
The pizza place looked precisely the same as it did when I left. The red checkered tablecloth, slightly worn-out wooden seats, leon signs, and several framed pictures of former employees and musicians who had dinner here. The owner, who had been employed there since the 1990s and was now essentially a grandfather, ultimately left due to the death of his son. Unlike most soldiers, who return home to surprise their families, his son arrived in a box. He was "at fault" for electing to join the army of his own free will, but no one believed it was all lies and propaganda. The brutal reality of the American dream was that. You either achieve everything successfully or lose everything.
Although it didn't taste as good as it used to, it was still better than the pizza I had in the city. Even yet, I feel like throwing up when I eat pizza. I fidgeted as I started to finish the drink in the red glass, wondering when Minho would arrive. Would he even show up at all? Does he even care?
Vanna moved to get closer to me and said in a whisper, "Are you waiting for Minho?"
"Yeah." I glanced at the boys to see if they heard us, but they were still too engaged to respond. "Do you think this would make them hate me?"
"No, they were hoping to speak with him, but that jerk decided not to. That's what I think." With a shrug, Vanna settled back into her chair and took her notebook out of her leather purse.
“He confuses me sometimes.”
“Are you really confused or just frustrated?”
“I guess, both.” I sighed.
“A friend,” She quoted, “shouldn’t make you that frustrated, let’s be real.”
“I guess.. I mean, I know he has some rough family issues, that’s all. I don’t know if there’s anything else.”
“You didn’t at least try to talk to him earlier?”
“I did try!” I pouted, sinking down in my seat. “He’s just.. being complicated.”
“What did he say?”
“I dunno.. Like he was being overly nice and then it got awkward when you know, I asked about his girlfriend which I thought he does have, but he doesn’t and he still hasn’t told me what really happened–”
Vanna groaned, putting her hands on her head. “What the fuck are you talking about? You’re the one being complicated.”
“Okay, well–” Just as I was about to defend myself, I felt a bit offended.
"Vanna's not wrong here, kid." Chan said, still deeply absorbed in his phone.
"I am not a kid!" I yelled at him inaudibly. "He's just making things more complicated,"
"You TWO are being so complicated and annoying!" Jisung also yelled as he pointed jokingly at me with his finger.
"Holy shit-" Vanna places her fingers on her nose's bridge.
"What is happening here?" When someone else's voice was heard, the yelling stopped. There was no way I could pretend that seeing him didn't make me nearly puke again.
"Awkward…" Vanna rolled her eyes and sang.
"We ate the entire pizza!" With a wide smile, Jisung resumed his random hand gestures.
“Don’t worry, I’ll buy you a slice.” Chan took out his card and stood up.
“No, it’s good, I can just–”
“Shut up and let me buy you one, man.”
“I know, but-”
“Dude, c’mon, we haven’t talked in a while-”
“I’m the one that should make up-”
“No–”
Everyone else at the table chuckled at their interaction as I smacked my head against the table.

It doesn’t matter anyway
‘Cause I’m happy here
Tumblr media
"That pizza was gooood, ay?" As he put his arm around Minho, Chan laughed. By now it had gotten late, so everyone left Marinara Magic together to walk home. The staff seemed to already like Chan enough to not throw us out, so I'm amazed they put up with us.
"But not as good as it was before. I could make it better at home!" Minho replied as Vanna and I just kept strolling down the street in silence as the boys laughed and chatted about how much they used to miss his cooking. I couldn't help but feel uneasy tension when I was around Minho, even though it felt great to have him back in the group like we did in high school. At least, we were all back to normal again. Nothing bad will definitely happen!
I was taken aback by what I had just seen on the pavement and froze in place. An arm mutilated, with blood dripping from the tip. I turned back to give the kids a warning since they were all standing in a circle and talking nonstop, much as when family get together and chat for hours at a time. "There's an arm, guys!" I yelled out and ran to the tree to get a stick, then I walked back to where the arm was and attempted to poke it. The group approached it with caution and began to swear loudly as soon as they saw it.
"Why are you poking it?" Like everyone else, Jisung coughed in disgust and yelled silently.
"It's too much to look at." Vanna stopped staring at it and poked her tongue out.
"How did that end up there? Has there been a murder? That shit barely happens here since like that one incident in 1990," Minho inquired.
"Was that not in 1983?" Chan folded his arm and scowled at Minho.
"No fucker, that's the bite of '83 you're thinking of; it's definitely before 1990." As I was prodding the arm, I snorted, and Jisung burst out laughing and slapped his thigh.
"Sorry, the what?"
"Game reference." Minho stated while awkwardly scratching his head.
Chan said, "He's really back," shaking his head.
“Oh, shut it.”
"Are we going to do shit about this or not? This kid is messing with it." Vanna spoke out.
"Dude, get up." The lighting flashed on us as Chan attempted to grip my shoulder, and I realized who it was as I got up.
"What's going on over here?" My aunt was standing there in her uniform, staring at us expressionlessly.
"A arm!" I gave my aunt a smile and gestured to where it was. She bowed, glanced down, examined the arm, and reported what had transpired using her talkie-walkie.
"You kids need to go home. We will take care of it."
"But-"
"Go. Home." Aunt gave me a scowl.
I kept glancing back, wondering what the whole "arm" thing was about, but Minho kept trying to pull me out of it and finally we walked home together. Since their routes to their homes differed from mine, half of the group bid goodbye and parted ways. Since Minho and I live in the same neighborhood, we strolled home in silence.
"Wow, that was crazy." He let out another quiet laugh to break the ice.
"Yeah." Still feeling a little uneasy, I laughed too. When we arrived at my house, I was about to say goodbye, when Minho grabbed my wrist. I was shocked as I looked down and wondered what he was going to say.
"Hey, listen, uhm," The taller one went on, "If you want, we can hang out this weekend?"
I nodded despite standing there taking in what he had told me.
"Alright, cool. So, see you then?" Minho smiled at me, and I smiled back. We kept looking at one other, and neither of us wanted to break eye contact. I finally hurried to my house and entered, blushing slightly. Is it a date? Nah, nah, you’re crazy. It’s totally not.
I began to search around my living room for my dad, but figured that since it's becoming late, they might be asleep. I mentally noted that I will talk to him more before he leaves for work tomorrow morning when I woke up. After walking the flight of stairs to my room, I completed my night routine and was soon ready for bed. As I lay in bed tonight, I pondered how quickly today went from being just normal to not so normal. Since I had nothing planned for tomorrow, I thought I should stay home and perhaps look up old strange incidents that occurred in my town a long time ago on the internet. It's been a while since I last hunted a ghost. I should do it again.
I should just go to sleep.
I sleep well alone now

“Had a chance you still never came through
You say you wanna come see me
‘Cause your girlfriend wanna be me, uh”
- long way 2 go : cassie
Mouthing these lyrics you look up and smile at yourself in the mirror, clipping on your gold hoops in between your ear lobes. Absolutely loving your look tonight, it only made your smile grow wider knowing exactly what this look was for.
A date
It had been a while since you’ve gone on a date, your last date was about a month ago since you started dating your boyfriend, Kole. You had started to think he really wasn’t taking your relationship seriously after the 3rd time he stood you up, but 2 nights ago he smothered you in kisses and had promised you he would make it up to you by quote on quote ‘rocking your world’ tonight. The thought only making you chuckle lightly.
So of course you being the girl you are, you made sure you looked your best tonight. You had wore your newly bought two piece red lace set from victoria’s secret, not only that but you basically showered yourself in your veryyy expensive perfume. You made sure this night was going to be perfect. You finished curling your hair the way Kole liked and twisted the cable around the curling iron, leaving it out on your desk to cool down.
You clipped on your gold necklace with your name written in cursive and took one last look at your makeup close up, making sure it hadn’t creased. You tapped on your phone with a freshly manicured acrylic, the screen reading 7:40 pm. Your date was at 8 o’clock and you made sure you were going to be there on time. You stood up from your vanity and headed to your shoe rack and picked out your black heels, stepping into them you grab your black Kate Spade purse and headed towards the door.
Keys in hand, you tap your phone noticing you had 10 minutes left to be there on time. You rush into the elevator down the hall and press the 1A button. As you walked out of your building you rummage through your keychains finding your car keys and pressing the unlock button. 6 minutes left, you drove over to the new Italian restaurant that opened up down the block. Luckily for you, there was a parking spot right in front of the restaurant waiting for you. You paid for the parking spot and headed in, taking a quick look at your travel size mirror making sure you looked as cute as you did when you stepped out the house.
You headed in, making sure the lady at front seated you in your reserved seat you asked for a cup of water. Your mouth felt dry because for some reason you felt nervous, it has been a while since you’ve been out on a fancy date so maybe you forgot the feeling. You waited what felt like 10 minutes, the cup already empty you tapped your phone on the table and it read 8:10 pm. You unlocked it and pressed imessage. You felt slight anger and sadness, in high hopes of Kole not pulling the same shit he does on every date. Sending half angry messages, you checked the last message he had sent you was at 2:30 pm. You scoffed and thought, ‘Huh, guess that’s how much i truly mean to him.’
my love❣️: where are you??
my love❣️: Kole te lo juro, if i don’t see you walk through the entrance in the next 5 minutes.
my love❣️: I can’t believe you’re doing this shit again.
You set your phone down sighing, your lips curling down into a slight frown. You decided to wait it out, hoping he was playing some sick joke on you. More than a few minutes had passed and you tapped your phone again, this time it read 8:38 pm. You got up from your seat angrily, heading towards the front desk lady letting her know you would be leaving. You stormed out of the restaurant, you were so eager to try their food and your ‘boyfriend’ stood you up again. You had put so much effort into getting ready for him tonight, really believing he would keep his promise. Heading to your car a thought popped into your head, glancing across the street and reading a sign that read Starry Nights in neon blue. You glanced back at the time you had paid for your parking, and you had plenty of time left.
You basically speed walked to the club entrance, you weren’t going to let all your effort go to waste. You stepped into the club scanning for a bar, as you so desperately needed a drink to drown the sadness from being stood up for the 4th time. You pushed your way through once you had spotted it and sat down with a sigh, asking the barista for the strongest drink they had. While waiting you took in your surroundings, noticing all the different color dimmed lights. Watching all the people dancing closely against each other you had the urge to go and let loose but you didn’t. You held back, you weren’t reallyy in the mood and the last thing you needed was some creep trying to take you home.
You turned around checking if the barista was done with your drink, but had noticed they were making other orders too. So whilst you kept patiently waiting, you picked up your phone and checked your notifications in hopes of Kole answering. Oh how wrong you were, you read ‘no new notifications’ and closed your eyes and let out a long breath you didn’t even know you were holding in. What you needed was something, someone to distract you from this situation before you started bursting out into tears. No matter how angry you were, you knew you were still hurt.
Glancing to the side searching for a distraction you notice a tall dark skinned male with two braids flowing down his neck, interested you eye the rest of him down and he wore black cargo pants with a plain black t-shirt complimented by a silver chain, a purple zip up accompanying it and a pair of limited edition air jordans.
You quickly drag your eyes back up in hopes of catching what his face looked like, instead you hear the barista place your drink in front of you. You turn your head giving them a smile uttering out a quick ‘Thank you’ and turning back around. The barista seemed to have been making both yours and his order at once because he also had a freshly poured drink in his grip.
Your eyes glistening with anticipation wanting oh so bad to see what this man looked like. He finally turned his head enough for you to get a view of his side profile, a fresh fade and a shiny silver stud clinging onto his earlobe complimenting his strong jawline and cute dimples. He smiled at the barista and turned his head in your direction, you quickly diverted your attention elsewhere taking a sip from your cup nervously.
He grinned at your reaction and spoke up, “You here by yourself nena?” you perked up and turned to look at him again surprised by his low husky voice. “Yeah,” you say with a hint of embarrassment and sadness, you stared at the ground. He turned his body full attention on you eyeing you up and down. If looks could kill you would probably be dead by now from the way his half hooded eyes stared at you. His grin slightly grew, “And whys that? Te ves demasiado bella para que estés aquí sola.” A slight giggle escaped your lips at that comment and you looked up at him again, “Bueno, let’s just sayy someone made empty promises. I got stood up.” He scoffed as if he didn’t believe you.
“Some balls you gotta have to do that to a girl like you. What’s your name preciosa?” You smile at the nickname he gave you, moving slightly closer you answered. “Y/N, and yours?” his hand found its way to your waist gripping it slightly. Looking at you eyes half lidded he answered, “Miles.” You stared at his lips, even the way he said his name was attractive. You both stared at each other for what felt like 20 seconds and got lost in the moment, leaning closer into each other, lips inches apart. That was until you snapped out of it and thought, ‘i have a boyfriend i can’t be doing this.’ You had just realized how close you both were and turned your head to the side slightly moving his hand from your waist.
Even though you were mad and didn’t want to admit it in that moment, you still loved Kole and you weren’t sure if you really wanted to throw your relationship down the drain just like that for a guy you had just met. As good as he looks you wouldn’t be able to do it just like that, maybe Kole would redeem himself.
“I—I can’t, i have a boyfriend.” He seemed unamused and furrowed his brows, gently grabbing your chin he turned it back towards him making you look up. “Don’t do that mami, he obviously ain’t givin’ you the attention you deserve.” He glanced at your lips leaning closer towards your neck, the musky smell of his cologne filling up your nostrils. As hard as you were trying to resist you found yourself giving in, muttering out a low “You don’t know that.”
Pulling you closer by the waist he leaned down and whispered in your ear, “I do. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be here.” You subconsciously moved closer and from there he placed soft kisses down your neck. One hand resting on the side of his neck, you let your head fall back and let a low moan slip. That sound was all it took to bring you back to reality, you slightly pushed him back.
At this point, the thought of Kole had slipped your mind, at the back of your head you knew if he wasn’t going to fulfill your needs and treat you right someone else definitely would. His free hand snaked up your thigh as he spoke softly, “I’m what you need ma, just lemme prove it to you.” You hesitated, not sure if this was the right thing to do. “I don’t know, i really love him and—“ That was until you felt his hand go higher, cutting you off “Say yes, mami.”
Biting your lower lip you gave in, “Alright, fine just give me a few days to think.” you slipped out your phone and passed it to him. He grinned saving his contact in your phone, with that he placed another sweet kiss on your neck. “See you Friday, mi amor.” he said, as if ignoring what you had just said. His hands moving away from your body, a low whine escaped your lips at the lingering feeling as he disappeared into the crowd.
On your way out the club you had so many thoughts racing through your head. You felt so dizzy, you had only taken one sip from your drink and it still had an effect on you. Tapping on your phone, the screen read 10:47 pm, you also had 5 messages from Kole from about an hour ago and 3 missed phone calls and 2 missed FaceTime calls. You rolled your eyes thinking, ‘Now he decides to care.’
You got into your car and rested your head on the steering wheel for a few minutes trying to wait out your pounding headache and the pain you felt coming from the heel of your feet. Turning your head to the side, sighing with closed eyes you opened them back up. Glancing back at your phone, you saw his name.
Miles.

day 24 and my friend sent me smth that was so drunznoblade coded I had to write smth for it
based off this but this is just the first part :)
Tumblr media
It was all really fuzzy for Punz, especially when his head was pounding as bad as it was. Just trying to think back on what happened caused another wave of head-splitting pain. They definitely drank way too much last night...
God, he needed a tylenol. Some food would be nice too. A breakfast burrito sounded so good right about now. Was taco bell still serving breakfast? Actually, what time was it anyway?
Punz had to squint when he looked at his phone, the only way he was able to stand the glare of the screen. However, before they could even think about looking up taco bell's menu times, they noticed they had a full notification bar. After clicking and scrolling a bit, just seeing the typical posts and messages from his friends saying how awesome last night was, he got to one from a group chat.
They didn't recognize either of the profiles, and the only message was from one of them.
"Did you make it home safe, baby? Heart emoji?" He mumbled to himself, a tone of awe in his morning voice.
'who is this??' He wrote back. Clicking on the profiles brought him to one account that was totally private with a blank image while the other was filled with pictures of a fluffy haired blonde posing next to friends, family, and food. Now they were really hungry...
He got a response sooner than he anticipated.
'u forgot abt us already? :('
'we made out like half the night man'
Punz had to read that twice just to make sure he wasn't seeing things. Half the night? They must've been wasted to not only agree to that but then not remember it at all.
"Sapnap," he hissed at his roommate, knocking on the wood of their bunk bed in an attempt to wake up the younger man.
His answer was a long groan, which when translated meant 'leave me the fuck alone.'
"Dude, wake up!" They pressed, tossing a pillow up onto Sapnap's bed. It was promptly thrown right back at their face.
"What? Tryna sleep off this fuckin' hangover, dude..." Sapnap leaned over the edge to glare at them, bedhead even messier than usual.
"What happened at the party last night?"
"What are you talkin' about?"
"Did I make out with someone?"
Sapnap appeared just as confused as him until realization slowly dawned on his face, then he was laughing. "Oh, dude. Yeah, that shit was wild. I got some other friends to come and you guys were going at it."
Punz visibly recoiled, cheeks red and brow furrowed. "Are you serious? Wha-how? Why??"
"How the hell would I know? I think we were playing like spin the bottle? Or something? You got Dream and then went back for seconds, I guess. Oh and Techno, you were all over Techno, bro."
"Who?"
Before he could respond, Punz's phone buzzed again. They looked down to see more messages.
'so r we still gonna meet 2day'
'or did you forget that too?'
"They wanna meet with me." Punz glanced up for Sapnap's reaction only to find the younger man had, presumably, returned to his pillow. "Sapnap!"
"What?!" He leaned back over, frowning. "I told you I'm tryna sleep!"
"Should I meet them? They're still like, total strangers, bro."
"Yeah, strangers, but you were sticking your tongue down their throats." Sapnap rolled his eyes while Punz turned an impossible shade of red and made and affronted noise. "If it gets your ass outta the dorm for once, then go." With that, he once again plopped down, and this time Punz thought it best to let him be.
Blunt as he put it, he was right on some level. These Dream and Techno people clearly cared about them, at least enough to want to meet again.
At worst, he'd be able to ask questions and fill in the blanks of what happened last night.

Night Shift | Craig x Kenny
AAA chapter two is heeeere its mostly silly fun before we actually start the fake dating part hehe pls enjoy (and check it out on ao3 for better formatting pls)
AO3 Link | 4k words | Chapter 2/?
Craig and Kenny strike a deal.
Craig has never been a morning person, but recently, it feels like every force in the world is trying to keep him in bed.
There’s the brief, near blissful moment when he’s just woken up. He can barely hear his alarm, the sleep not quite shaken off yet, unaware of what the day brings. Then, inevitably, his first thought washes over him; Tweek dumped you.
Just knowing that this is going to weigh on him all day is exhausting to think about. He doesn’t waste time wondering what he did wrong or how to best avoid the other anymore. The exhaustion comes from knowing that Tweek’s absence is just something he has to deal with now, every damn day.
Before, the habit of trying to beat his boyfriend to the first ‘good morning’ text motivated him to get up. But lately, he always spends a few minutes letting his alarm ring out, trying to delay his day for as long as possible. But, then his phone begins to buzz to life, and he knows he can’t ignore the real world any more.
On this particular morning, the urge to pull the covers over his head is particularly strong. Not only did he work late last night, but the fact that he looked like an idiot in front of Kenny is also hanging over his head. Craig groans, recalling their bizarre interaction.
“You wanna be my boyfriend?” He had asked.
Kenny looked bewildered, a mixture of surprise and concern on his face. But, before Craig could even go back on his question, Kenny replied, “Like, for money?”
Unable to bear the look on the other’s face, Craig turned away, pulling out a pack of Kenny’s usual cigarettes. “No, that would be stupid,” he stammered out. “I’m being stupid, fuck. Here, I can-” He took the magazine that Kenny had been holding and scanned it along with the Camels. Finally, he looked back up at the blonde. “Anything else?”
Kenny’s brows knit together as he looked at Craig. His lips were pursed together, shifting around his face like he was trying to talk without opening his mouth. “No,” he said after some pause, drawing out the word. “That’s it.” Kenny slid a few bills across the counter, not looking away from Craig as he took his items.
Craig thought that if tried to speak again, he would say something even worse than what he already had, so he simply nodded.
Kenny headed towards the door, shooting Craig an awkward glance back just before he left. “Take care of yourself, man.”
Craig rolled over onto his stomach, pressing his face deep into the pillow in an effort to stop his brain from playing the memory over and over again. When that didn’t work, he turned his head to the side, grabbing his phone from the nightstand and finally turning off his alarm.
He squints as the screen lights up, serving as the only light source in his room. There are two notifications from Clyde, one sent around 2AM linking a YouTube video called “BAD DAY Better Watch This 😂 1 Hour Best Funny & Fails” and another sent 20 minutes ago, asking “Tolkien had to make up a test please pLEASE can u drive me today PLEASE?????”
Craig gives the message a thumbs down and ignores the typing bubble that immediately appears (he’ll end up driving Clyde, of course, he just wants to fuck with him first). His next notification is a Snapchat message from “kmck69,” a username he doesn’t recognize until he opens the message.
kmck69: were u being serious b4
kmck69: it is a rlly stupid idea
kmck69: but also im down if ur down
Craig reads the messages, then reads them again just to make sure he’s not hallucinating. As an added measure, he checks the user’s last story and, sure enough, it’s a selfie of Kenny holding a beer, Cartman lurking in the background, with the caption “5 screenshots and i piss in cartmans drink.”
Once Kenny had left last night, Craig had spent the last hour of his shift overthinking every detail of their interaction. He didn’t even know where his bizarre idea had come from, it had just slipped from his mouth before it was fully-formed. Hearing that Tweek was out hanging around with some goth kid infuriated him beyond words or logic. The only coherent thought Craig could form about it was that something had to change. He didn’t want to keep rotting in his bed, head swimming with thoughts about his ex. He just wanted to do something.
Asking Kenny to pretend to be his boyfriend was just the first idea that came to mind.
He hadn’t expected the other to even justify him with a response beyond their uncomfortable conversation. But, apparently, Kenny was mulling it over until nearly 4 in the morning when he texted, which is far more thought than Craig put into it.
It’s a stupid idea. He knows it is, they both know it is. But, it’s something.
spacemancraig: Yeah I’m down
He stares at his screen for a moment, quickly feeling the prickle of anxiety in his chest. It’s useless to sit and wait for a response, so he puts his phone down and pulls himself out of bed. The second he actually rises from his mattress, his phone buzzes to life, and Craig almost drops the device in how quickly he grabs it.
(Clyde) Literally I’m already ready I won’t hold you up I’ll even buy you starbucks or whatever gay shit you like
(Clyde) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
(Clyde) I’m sorry for calling you gay and starbucks gay bro PLEASE don’t make me walk
He sighs, typing out a quick response before he puts the phone down for real.
(Craig) Fine

Kenny stumbles into Chemistry three minutes after the bell, handing their teacher a crumbled-up excuse note before shuffling to his seat. It’s not uncommon for him to be late, and normally Craig would pay it no mind. However, normally he’s not anxiously waiting for a Snapchat from the other.
Craig can’t take his eyes off him, his notes trailing off as he drowns out the voice of their teacher. He’s not sure whether Kenny’s changed his mind and is brushing him off, or genuinely just oblivious of the holes Craig is staring into the back of his head. The blonde just rummages through his bag and pulls out a few sheets of paper, not even sparing Craig a glance back.
Somehow, in every class he finds himself staring at the back of a blonde’s head. He wonders if he might be the problem.
At first, Kenny just chews on his eraser and passes notes to Kyle sitting beside him. But, after a few minutes of this, he turns and locks eyes with Craig. Before Craig can even try to communicate something quietly across the row separating them, Kenny turns away again, and Craig wants to throw his textbook at the other’s head. Before he can, though, he feels his phone buzz to life in his pocket.
kmck69: we have 2 talk abt it obv
kmck69: do u have work 2nite
Craig rolls his eyes as he reads the messages, unsure as to why Kenny needs to use the least amount of characters possible when he texts.
spacemancraig: No
kmck69: cool well i do
kmck69: im at the bijou from 4 to 12
kmck69: if u want free popcorn tho u can come after 10
kmck69: thats when concession closes so its kinda old but tbh still good
spacemancraig: Yeah I think I’ll pass on the stale popcorn
spacemancraig: But I’ll come by
kmck69: ur loss
kmck69: word tho
kmck69: also cute username lmao
Craig’s face scrunches up as he reads the text, glancing up to look at Kenny. The blonde looks back at him, flashing a smile, and Craig just flips him off in response.
kmck69: ooh rawr ur so scary and mean
kmck69: can u leave me alone im trying 2 learn >:(
He wants to retort that Kenny was the one who started it, but typing that feels incredibly childish. Instead, Craig rolls his eyes and tucks his phone away, looking back up at the lesson.

There are a lot of points today when Craig’s wondered when his life took a wrong turn. Losing sleep over a conversation with someone he has never really given a shit about, feeling like shit the entire morning waiting on a message from the aforementioned someone, and now, he’s at South Park’s lamest and only movie theater at 10PM on a Thursday.
Maybe it wasn’t just a wrong turn, maybe it’s an eighteen-year downward spiral and he’s just getting closer to rock bottom.
The Bijou is, of course, dead. Craig only goes when they randomly decide to screen something from the Criterion Collection. He and his friends used to hang around the place more often, but then Tolkien got a home theater and every movie started being available to stream, and they didn’t have to secretly spike their slushies in the Black household. Now, the only people that frequent The Bijou are the elderly and his 15 year old sister, for some reason.
He decided to wait until 10PM to go. Not because Kenny made the stale popcorn sound appetizing, but he figured the later he went, the less likely he was to run into someone he knew. He parks his car a few blocks down the street and walks to the theater, hands tucked in the pocket of his hoodie. The marquee has been defaced, as per usual, and just reads “PENIS” followed by the scrambled extra letters from whatever movie title it once said. How original.
The ticket booth is empty, and when he steps inside, the theater is just as deserted as he expected it to be. Craig isn’t exactly sure of his next move as he lingers by the entrance, looking around. Just walking into the theater without a ticket to look for Kenny feels wrong, but so does just standing around awkwardly. Before he can choose, though, someone speaks behind him.
“I’m sorry, sir. We’re not selling any more tickets to our last screening- Oh, Craig?” Chirps a voice from the concession stand. Craig turns, coming face-to-face with Butters. The other boy smiles at him, far too brightly considering the two of them are not friends. The most they’ve interacted in all of high school is the rare occasion that Craig visits the Bijou, in which he affords Butters a small head nod as a greeting if they meet eyes.
“Hey, Butters,” Craig says. “Is Kenny around?”
Almost comically, Butters cocks his head to the side. “Kenny? I didn’t know you two were friends!”
An abrupt silence comes between them, and Craig just waits for Butters to tell him where his coworker is. However, the blue-eyed boy just looks at him with a quizzical expression on his face, and Craig realizes he’s waiting for a confirmation.
“Uh, sure,” Craig mumbles after a moment. “Friends. Friendly, I guess. So, where is he?”
Butters beams at his answer, starting to wipe the countertop he’s standing behind down as he responds. “That’s so nice. He needs friends who won’t get him into trouble, you know? And he was just talking about you the other day.”
“He was?” Craig asks, but before Butters can elaborate, the two are interrupted.
“Craig!” Shouts Kenny from across the theater. Clad in a button-down, black skinny jeans, a red vest and matching bow-tie, he looks starkly different than he did this morning. The almost formal outfit doesn’t look quite right on him, and Craig realizes he’s never seen Kenny in something that wasn’t two sizes too large. When the blonde arrives at the concession stand, he’s grinning, looking at Craig so excitedly that the dark-haired boy has to turn his face away.
“It’s me, don’t cream your jeans,” Craig says, earning a little snicker from Butters.
“I’ll sure as hell try,” Kenny replies, not sounding nearly as sarcastic as Craig. “I was starting to think you were bailing. It’s late, man.” As he speaks, he lifts himself onto the concession counter and sits, dangling his legs.
Butters frowns, putting his hands on his hips (Craig didn’t know that people did that in real life, but it suits Butters’ cartoonish mannerisms). “Aw, Kenny. I was just wiping that down.”
Kenny rolls his eyes, swinging his legs around to the other side of the counter and hopping off. “Happy?” He asks his coworker, who lets out a little puff of air in response and returns to his cleaning. Kenny shoots Craig a funny look, and Craig feels like he’s missing something. “As you can see, Butters and I take a lot of pride in this establishment.”
“That sounds awfully insincere, Kenny,” Butters grumbles, mostly to himself. “I do take pride in this establishment.”
It’s pretty weird to watch Kenny and Butters interact like this. They’re both oddballs in their social circles, especially Butters, and he can’t help but feel a bit out-of-place talking to them, especially outside of school. Craig absent-mindedly slides his phone from his pocket, checking the screen, just out of habit.
“Got somewhere to be?” Kenny asks, and when Craig looks up, the other is staring right at him, of course. He’s holding one of the soft drink cups, filled to the brim with popcorn.
Craig tucks his phone away. “You were serious about the stale popcorn?”
“It’s just gonna get thrown out,” Kenny says, popping a few kernels in his mouth. “Did you want some?”
Craig narrows his eyes in suspicion, responding with an unsure hum. One time, in the 5th grade, he saw Kenny pick up an earthworm from the sidewalk and swallow it whole. He did it, of course, for five bucks from Clyde, but Craig still doesn’t trust his taste.
Kenny rolls his eyes, opening up the machine to fill another cup. “Don’t be a princess. It’s still good. Right, Butters?” Kenny asks as he slides past his coworker, crossing to Craig’s side of the counter.
“Oh, I don’t like to eat the popcorn much,” Butters replies, attending to the machine once Kenny’s done with it. “I gotta smell it all day, then clean the machine, scrape all the burnt pieces. I used to think movie theater popcorn was one of the yummiest smells, but now it doesn’t really get my tummy rumbling.”
Talking to Butters is weird, Craig thinks. He’s not sure if he’s ever heard anyone else use the phrase ‘tummy rumbling’ in his life. He glances at Kenny, who seems entirely unphased by the other’s weird expressions.
“Yeah, okay,” Kenny says with a small shrug. He hands one of the popcorn cups to Craig, who takes it reluctantly. “I don’t know why I asked him.”
“Not that this isn’t thrilling,” Craig says, turning fully to Kenny. Butters is pretty engaged with his cleaning, but Craig doesn’t need him hearing any part of this conversation, so he speaks low. “Can we talk now?”
Kenny lets out an amused puff of air. “Butters, I’m gonna go do theater checks” he says, not taking his eyes away from Craig. “Craig’s coming with me.”
“You better not just be sneakin’ him into the movie for free, Kenny,” Butters grumbles, but his coworker is already walking away, waving a hand dismissively. Craig spares Butters an awkward glance before following behind Kenny.
“You do that often?” Craig asks.
“What? Sneak people in?” Kenny replies. He shoots a look back at Butters, making sure he isn’t listening before he continues. “Not all the time. I’m not really into losing this job.”
Right, Craig thinks, Kenny actually needs this job. The thought makes him a bit uncomfortable, that Kenny has to put in the hours at a shitty movie theater to pay for things he actually needs. Meanwhile, Craig works so he can get out of the house and have some spending money.
Kenny glances behind them, then slides a vape out of his pocket and hits it. He turns his head to the side, courteous enough not to blow smoke right at Craig, though not enough to pick a less obnoxious flavor.
“Sorry,” Kenny says, noticing how Craig wrinkles his nose at the scent. “Butters doesn’t like it either, probably because it’d get us in trouble.”
“So you don’t care enough about this job to not vape?” Craig asks.
This time, Kenny blows the cloud right in his face. “Be nice to me, Tucker. I let your sister sneak in here all the time.”
Craig pauses, taking a second to process what Kenny just said. “You what?”
Kenny stops too, poking his head into the closest screening room as he speaks. “Yeah, she comes by a lot. Here, this one’s empty,” he steps into the theater, holding the door open so Craig can follow. It’s a bit odd-looking inside. It’s not often he sees empty theaters with the lights on, especially not clean ones. Kenny takes a seat in a nearby row, throwing his legs over the chairs as he munches on his popcorn. “Don’t worry, no one’s gonna hear us. I cleaned this one an hour ago, and I’ve only had to kick out people who stayed after a movie like, three times, so we’re good.”
Craig takes a seat a few spots away from Kenny, giving the other room to sprawl out. “Why did they stay?”
“Sometimes they just fall asleep. One time there was a couple fucking, though. That was pretty sweet. In that row over there,” Kenny points behind him, a smirk on his face.
Craig blinks and wonders what ever happened to the Kenny he went to elementary school with, the one who rarely spoke except for the occasional dirty joke. Focus, Craig.
“Uh, so about last night,” Craig begins, straightening up a bit in his seat. Kenny mirrors him, showing that he’s listening. “I was just talking without thinking. It is a really fucking dumb idea.”
“But you showed up to talk about it,” Kenny notes.
Craig sighs. “Yeah, I did. Because I’m really fucking dumb. And I’m sick of the sympathy from my dumb friends. And you said you’d be down.” Kenny just looks at him, and Craig finds himself talking just to avoid the awkward silence. “If you’re not anymore though, that’s fine. There’s no pressure or anything.”
“I’m still down,” Kenny says with a small nod. “As long as I’m paid for my time. God, I sound like a hooker.”
“You’re not a hooker,” Craig adds a bit too quickly. “We don’t need to actually do anything, I don’t think.”
“So what do I have to do?”
Craig doesn’t answer for a moment. Apparently, this tells Kenny all he needs to know.
“Oh, so you really didn’t think this through, huh?” Kenny makes an odd clicking sound with his tongue, shaking his head. Craig thinks he’s trying to be funny, but it’s not helping how embarrassing the conversation feels. “Okay, Craig. If you want Tweak to take you back, what do you think would really get him all pissed off and hot and jealous?”
“Hang on-” Craig sits up a bit, raising a hand as Kenny speaks. “I’m not trying to get him back.”
“You’re not?”
Craig opened his mouth, but words couldn’t quite seem to come out. Was he trying to get Tweek back? There were plenty of couples in South Park that broke up only to come back together. In fact, he’d stop getting hopeful when Bebe and Clyde would split, as it was inevitable they’d be sucking face again within a week. But, he’d never thought about that possibility for him and Tweek. They didn’t break up because of a fight or mistake or something stupid. Honestly, Craig still couldn’t quite pin why they had broken up. All he knew is that Tweek didn’t want to be with him anymore. The thought of trying to get his ex to change his mind and take him back hadn’t even occurred to him, and right now, it just sounded pathetic.
“Jeez, I didn’t know that would be such a tough question,” Kenny muses, bringing Craig out of his thoughts. “It’s fine if you want him back, man. I don’t judge.”
“I don’t” Craig says, maybe a bit too assertively as it makes Kenny lean a bit further away from him. “He doesn’t want to be together, whatever. I’m not gonna try to trick him into getting back with me. I just want people to know I’m cool about it.”
Kenny makes a little high-pitched hum, his face scrunching up. He takes another hit of his vape, looking thoughtful as he does so (as thoughtful as someone hitting a neon green cylinder can). “Okay,” he says, blowing out smoke. “We’ll make everyone think we fucked.”
“What the fuck- Kenny,” Craig stammers out, shaking his head as he speaks. “How would we even, who would fall for that? What’s that even gonna do?”
Kenny leans forward again, resting his arms on the arm of the chair and once again being too close to Craig’s personal space. “No, Craig, listen. This is one of my better ideas. If you immediately start dating some dude, everyone’s gonna think it’s a rebound and people know I’m not really the dating type. It’ll be weird, someone’s gonna see through it because I’m not not gonna hook up with someone else. But- if people think we just fucked, they’ll be like, ‘Wow Craig moved on and he doesn’t give a fuck and he’s so cool,’ which is your goal, right?”
Craig stares at Kenny, wide eyed, and Kenny stares right back. It’s impossible to focus on what the blonde is saying with that eager look in his eyes, like some kind of dog waiting for a treat. However, when Craig actually does start to process the idea, he realizes Kenny’s making some good points. Kenny raises his brows, still waiting for a reply. Craig lets out a sigh, looking up at the theater ceiling. “Fuck. That’s- Yeah, that’s a good plan.”
“I know!” Kenny starts drumming his fingers along the side of the seat, and Craig can tell he’s beaming without even looking at him. “I want sixty-five.”
Now, Craig looks back down at Kenny, who is making a face like that wasn’t a ridiculous thing to say. “Bucks? You want sixty-five dollars?”
“Cash,” Kenny adds. The two just stare at each other for a moment because every time Craig looks at Kenny, apparently Kenny’s already looking at him.
“I’ll give you forty,” Craig offers, hoping his tone sounds firm enough to stop any further negotiation.”
“Deal,” Kenny finally leans back in his seat and Craig feels like he can actually breathe again. If they’re gonna do this, he needs to talk with Kenny about personal space. And maybe that god awful vape flavor too. Shit, they’re actually doing it.
Craig nods before his brain fully catches up, like he’s convincing himself this is real life. “Okay, yeah. Deal. Wow.”
Kenny glances over at him. “You good? You can’t back out now. We said deal.”
Craig is still nodding, rubbing his palms on his thighs. “We’re good. I just didn’t really think you’d say yes. I don’t, uh, have much of a plan.”
Kenny puts his hand on Craig’s shoulder, giving it a little squeeze. “Don’t worry your pretty little head about it, dude. ‘Cause I already have a plan.”
“My head’s not-” he starts, then lets out a breath, pinching the bridge of his nose. “What’s the plan?”
Kenny stands, looking back down at Craig with a grin. “If there’s one thing I know, it’s how to get people talking about my sex life. And lucky for you, I have just the party to get this rumor started.” Kenny rubs his hand on a chair, then sticks it out for Craig. “You trust me, dude?”
Looking up at the blonde, the sheer dumb confidence on his face, his stupid uniform bowtie, there’s no way Craig should feel at ease. But, he has forty bucks and his reputation on the line, and Kenny might just be the best shot he has at escaping his current hellhole situation. Craig stands, gripping Kenny’s hand.
“Fuck it,” he says. “I trust you, let’s do this.”

California: Oklahoma, what do you call people you go out with but don’t try to sleep with?
Oklahoma: ...People?
----/-----
Oklahoma: If it’s any consolation, they got me here on a very misleading text message.
California: Technically, you are about to be screwed in the biology room.
-----
Oklahoma: I committed all 7 deadly sins in 30 minutes.
California: Wow, I've gotta hear this.
Oklahoma: I was angry and envious of my neighbor so I lazily seduced his wife and ate all his groceries and didn't share.
California: You forgot pride.
Oklahoma: No, I'm pretty proud of this.
---
Oklahoma: Hey, wanna take a shower with me?
California: I have a gun in that nightstand beside the bed. If I ever say no to that question, I want you to take it out and shot me because I’ve obviously gone crazy.
-----
Oklahoma: Bro, I had a dream we fucked.
California: Bro, relax it was just a dream.
Oklahoma: Huh, gay, I wouldn’t fuck you.
California: You wouldn’t?
Oklahoma: I mean, unless you want to-
------
Oklahoma: What’s sexting?
California: I'm not having this conversation with you.
---
California: Know why I called you in here?
Oklahoma: Because I accidentally sent you a dick pic.
California: *Stops pouring two glasses of wine.* Accidentally?
-----
Oklahoma: Look, last night was a mistake.
California: A sexy mistake.
Oklahoma: No, just a regular mistake.
------
Oklahoma: There are 20 letters in the alphabet, right?
California: Nope, there's 26.
Oklahoma: Ah, I must have forgotten U, R, A, Q, T.
California: Aww, that's cute, but you're still missing one.
Oklahoma: You'll get the D later ;).
-
Oklahoma, turning to California: Stop calling yourself hot, the only thing you can turn on is the microwave.
---
Oklahoma: We should get you to a doctor for a check up immediately. What if it happens again, and there isn’t anyone around to help you? What if it’s congenital? Oh my God! Was it me? Did I hurt you?
California: …You realize any other person that made their partner pass out on bed would simply feel really proud of themselves,

Oklahoma: Is the plural of milf/dilf milfs/dilfs or milves/dilves?
Georgia : Milfs.
New York : Milf/dilf is an acronym, you can't change the spelling to milves/dilves.
Oklahoma: Wait, they're acronyms? What do they stand for???
California: Mom in late forties, dad in late fourties.
California: I learned that from the movie called M.I.L.F that I saw the trailer of in theaters probably 5 to 7 years ago.
New York : Mom/dad I'd Love to Fuck.
Oklahoma: WAIT, WHAT THE FUCK—
Oklahoma: I NEVER REALIZED IT WAS ACTUALLY HORNY!

Georgia : What? No! It isn't!

New York : I am entirely unsurprised that this is coming from you.
California: OKLAHOMA, DOES IT MAKE SENSE WHY I CALLED THE DIARY OF A WIMPY KID MOM A MILF NOW BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS LITERALLY JUST A DESCRIPTOR WITH FUNNY CONNOTATION!
Oklahoma: The word milf has been ruined for me.
Georgia : THAT'S ITS DEFINITION, IT CAN'T BE RUINED THAT'S WHAT IT MEANS!
New York : Y'all are dumbasses.

New York & Georgia , fighting:

California: Isn’t it weird that we can’t ride any other animal except horses. Like if horses weren’t a thing, humans would be fucked cause we couldn’t ride any other animals. Like riding animals wouldn’t really be a thing. We should probably be more grateful to horses.
Florida : Elephants.
California: Blocked.
New York : Camels.
California: Extra blocked.
Georgia : Donkeys.
California: Ultra blocked.
Oklahoma: That dick.
California: ...Followed.

New York : Sex.
Oklahoma: Seriously, answer faster.
New York : I’m sorry honey, when they said sex I wasn’t thinking about sex with you.
Oklahoma: It’s like a giant hug.
California: Georgia , what about you? What would you give up sex or food?
Georgia : Food.
California: Okay, how about sex or dinosaurs?
Georgia : Oh my God it’s like the movie Sophie’s Choice.
Florida : What about you Louisiana? What would you give up sex or food?
Louisiana: Oh... um... I don’t know, it’s too hard.
Florida : No, you gotta pick one.
Louisiana: Um, food... no, sex... no, food... sex... food. Ugh! I don’t know! I want both! I- I want hot people on bread!

Cali : Florida kissed me!
New York : Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!
Cali : It was unbelievable!
New York : Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!
Louisiana: Okay, we wanna hear everything. New York , get the wine and unplug the phone. Cali , does this end well or do we need tissues?
Cali : Oh, it ended very well.
New York : Do not start without me! Do not start without me!
Louisiana: Okay, alright, let’s hear about the kiss. Was it a soft brush against your lips or was it like a, you know, “I gotta have you now” kind of thing?
Cali : Well, at first it was really intense, you know? And then, oh God, and then we just sort of sunk into it.
Louisiana: Ohh... So, okay, were they holding you? Or were their hands on your back?
Cali : First they started out on my waist and then they slid up and then they were in my hair.
New York and Louisiana: Ohhh.
*meanwhile*
Florida eating pizza in their house: And, uh, and then I kissed them.
Gov : Tongue?
Florida: Yeah.
Texas: Cool.

New York: Where?
New Jersey: I don't think you get how this game works.
