#uni thinking process#going to start from the beginning#so basically the first thing about eating is you thinking about it#it starts the cephalic phase of digestion#im not sure but i think it works in the oral cavity#and definetely works in stomach and duodenum#it uses nervus vagus and the parasympathetic transmitter acetylcholine to start the reaction#but hold up nervus vagus does not go the mouth#let me google something#oh no its just in the stomach#so its not in the mouth#but yeah it makes the gastric juices flowing because you sense or think abt food#so to eat it you obviously will have to use your mouth#and did you actually know there are two cavities in your mouth when you close your jaw#one between lips and teeth#and other between teeth and uh pharynx i guess#anyway when you take a bite you can taste it#there are 5 types of tastes we can taste with tastebuds. sweet salty savory bitter and umami#we can taste everything all over our tongue and some buds are even in the mucus ? god idk the english but the mucus skin or whatever#there are also trigeminal. i hope i said it right. tastes#they are spicy hot and cold thanks to the. nerve. the three branch nerve. idk how its in english either#and the taste can play a role into our digestion. if all goes well digestion is promoted. if not reflexes like spitting smth out are up#so thats that abt taste#but hold up we also have saliva#there are three main salivary glands#one is below our ears which is the biggest one. but! it doesnt produce most of the saliva#oh and the big salivary glands are paired#like each side gets one#okay yeah so the gland under ear opens up in. uhh. idk. somewhere in the mucus#i couldnt care less tbh at this point
