‼️ content warning for talking about (necessary, healthy) food restrictions ‼️
Please don’t be rude about somebody’s dietary restrictions.
Sometimes people don’t even notice it in the little comments about how gross vegan food is, how bad for you dairy-free milks are, how everything gluten-free tastes like cardboard…people don’t choose their food intolerances!!!!
I have to use a lot of substitutes for MEDICAL REASONS, and I’ve had people tell me to my face how gross that is. Vegan cheese tastes like glue. Oh, you have to try a gluten free diet? That’s so trendy now, but really you don’t have to. The food is so bland.
I do have to, actually. It’s discouraging to hear how inferior your food is when there’s no other option!!!!! Please try to be considerate of people’s non-negotiable needs.
Also don’t be mean to people who do choose their own dietary specifications, that should go without saying. Be considerate and respectful of what people have to eat!!!
With love, if nobody is practicing unsafe or dangerous eating habits, mind your business ❤️

Hey, can I ask about the baking soda in water treatment? Does it taste really bad, and like how much are you putting in there?
sure ya can! baking soda is mostly a highly concentrated salt, so mixing it in water just tastes like drinking straight up ocean. not pleasant at all, but personally i find it a lot easier than eating real foods that i find gross- especially when the only other immediate option is intense chest/throat pain for 4-8 hours. when i did it, i also ate some potato chips just to kinda trick my mouth into accepting all the salt, instead of gagging on it cuz of the sea water aspect. the recommended dose i got from google was 1 teaspoon baking soda per 8 ounce glass of water, with the important note that this is NOT supposed to be used as a frequent, regular, or long-term treatment. based on how fast the relief was for me, i'd say you would probably not even need to drink the whole glass of water unless your case is especially severe and/or you are a much larger person than i am, and since it's such a high amount of sodium, i'd recommend to go slow and stop when you start to feel better, instead of just downing the whole thing as fast as possible. and of course, this is just an emergency relief thing when you got no other options- you should try regular antacids first. if you're experiencing this kinda pain and seeking this kinda relief with any regularity, you should check out your diet and talk to a doctor.

PSA for anyone taking omeprazole (Prilosec) who would like not to be taking omeprazole: you have to taper it off slowly. Take it every other day for a couple weeks, then three days a week, two days a week, once a week. You may want to replace it with another preventative antacid. Be prepared for some discomfort when you adjust frequency — maybe have some mylanta or equivalent on hand.
They stopped my prescription for the stuff and did not tell me how to stop taking it without terrible rebound reflux, so I ended up going back on it OTC and having several unpleasant cold turkey attempts… But after about two months of tapering, I'm pretty much off it! and quite pleased with myself. It can be done!

Do you ever grieve the functionality your body used to have? Is this a universal feeling with age? What if my body never functioned properly from the beginning? Am I allowed to grieve the days I've had to sacrifice to recover from my pain?

My stomach hurts and I feel nauseated and there’s random heartburn (even though I took my acid reflux meds today). Bad enough I’m definitely not getting to sleep anytime soon. What is going on, body? Is it the drainage? Stupid mucus not sitting well? Ugh.
