Tumblr media
This article will take you on a journey into the fascinating world of bakhoor burning, as you discover the secrets to mastering this ancient practice, as well as discover how its transformative power can transform your life.
Understanding the Essence of Bakhoor:
At the heart of the bakhoor experience lies a carefully curated blend of natural ingredients, each selected for its aromatic properties and symbolic significance.
Whether sourced from local artisans or renowned perfumers, authenticity is important when choosing this fragrant treasure.
Take the time to explore the diverse array of bakhoor blends, from traditional oudh-based concoctions to modern interpretations infused with citrus, floral, or spicy notes.
Selecting the Right Bakhoor:
Begin with the selection of quality bakhoor, a task that requires discernment and reverence.
Let your intuition guide you as you seek out the perfect scent that resonates with your soul and sets the tone for your ritual.
Preparing the Sacred Space:
Central to the bakhoor burning ritual is the creation of a sacred space conducive to introspection and tranquility.
Consider incorporating elements of nature, such as fresh flowers, crystals, or incense holders crafted from natural materials, to enhance the ambiance and connect with the earth's elemental energies.
Infuse the space with your intention, whether it be relaxation, meditation, or spiritual communion, and let it permeate every corner of the room.
Choosing the Perfect Burner:
A dedicated bakhoor burner serves as the vessel through which the transformative alchemy of burning bakhoor unfolds.
Pay attention to the design and aesthetics of the burner, choosing one that resonates with your style and enhances the visual beauty of the ritual.
Whether adorned with intricate filigree patterns or minimalist in its simplicity, let the burner serve as a reflection of your reverence for the sacred art of bakhoor burning.
Mastering the Lighting Technique:
With the sacred space prepared and the burner at the ready, it's time to ignite the flame that will awaken the dormant fragrance within the bakhoor.
Begin by lighting a charcoal disc using a match or lighter, holding it steady until the surface begins to glow with a soft, incandescent light.
Allow the charcoal to reach the optimal temperature, indicated by a thin layer of white ash covering the surface, before proceeding to add the precious bakhoor.
Embracing the Art of Application:
As the charcoal reaches its peak of readiness, take a moment to prepare the bakhoor for its transformation from raw material to fragrant incense.
Observe as the resinous blend begins to smolder and release tendrils of aromatic smoke into the air, each curl carrying with it the essence of centuries-old traditions and sacred rituals.
Adjust the quantity of bakhoor as needed, allowing intuition and experience to guide your hand as you fine-tune the intensity and duration of the burning process.

Hc of some stuff Damian would do as an Arab kid :
Burns up some bakhoor* in the Batcave cause "It smells like sweat and blood in here, disgusting."
Calling Bruce "Ab" or "Baba" (the latter is, almost exclusively, when he wants a favor though)
Wears a thobe** around the Manor cause it's way more comfortable. "You should too, Father. All of you, actually."
Ends up asking Bruce to let him wear a thobe to more formal events. Of course, he accepts.
Loves arabic poetry. Went from secretly writing some himself, to hosting poetry readings in the Batcave to recite his favorite verses.
Always begs Alfred to make him Knafeh or some Halawa,
Seeks out local Arab festivals or markets, dragging the others along.

“hayati,” he whispers against your skin, peppering warm kisses along your collarbone. his arms wrapped around you like snakes, “hayati,” he mutters once more, his eyes narrowing in on the goosebumps that appear on your arm, which had been wrapped around him. your fingers were tangled in his disheveled and undone brown tresses. jamil shifts the blankets so that they cover you up. a breeze came from the open balcony of the scarabia dorm room you found yourself sharing. the night before, he refused to let you go back to your place. it was too late at night and he yearned for the chance to cuddle up against you. to share his bed, one of the only places where he could be so honest—so raw. you had only ever seen his room immaculately clean, and now he was letting you see it when the room was lived in. there was something terribly intimate about it, the messy sheets, his messy hair, the lingering scent of bakhoor that was burned the day before. loving jamil meant exploring a maze, taking route after route before finding a new clue that would bring you to the end. it was a rewarding maze, one that would seduce you into sticking around, even in the harshest storms. he holds onto you as if you would disappear with the breeze, which caused his curtains to flutter, letting in the morning sun, “mm… ya hayati—my life… you should move in here,” he says, smirking against your skin when he feels you shiver. his wandering hands had found their way to your hips, pinching the soft skin.

eren jaeger x sudani reader
cw | none, sfw, fluff, sudanese reader
shanta: bag, bakhoor: wood chips that have added scents on them, they are burned to leave an aroma, tamayya: a chickpea based sudanese fritter
Tumblr media
as you may know, us sudani’s have expensive taste, so the spoiling he does goes CRAZY.
he’d probably tease and act like he doesn’t want to buy you things but quickly will put his card down whenever you ask him.
“so ‘ren.. i saw this pretty necklace online…” a hint to shyness lingering in your voice.
“yeah? you want it, pass me my wallet” he says quickly without hesitation and a soft smile on his lips.
i feel like eren would be playfully sassy with it too.
“pass me my black shanta baby”
and the side eye you’d give him would put him right back in his place.
all the little things you do, eren would mimic.
post cooking, the scent of garlic and onion move from the kitchen and is now looming into the main home. he is quick to grab bakhoor for you, remembering the small habits you do after cooking. You’re placing it down adding the tacky wooden pieces on the tin foil and he’s watching so attentively in case you somehow burn yourself.
after a few minutes he waits for you to grab the base of it letting you hair pick up the sweet and gentle earthy scent. probably getting excited knowing when y’all cuddle later, he gets to smell what makes him feel like home.
when it comes to tea, i think he can grow into the habit of drinking it outside of cold weather.
<<i don’t know about you guys but it’ll be 28°C outside and i’m still drinking tea>>
every know and then he’ll beg for you to make tea
“you do it way better, please can you make it?” he begs, because according to him, it puts him to sleep.
now for meeting the parents…that’s terrifying.
despite him being nervous he knows how badly he wants to marry you, and meeting your parents is a crucial step.
you let your parents know before hand about him and the relationship, so it’s no surprise when eren appears the next evening. he’s hands slightly shaking as he holds a bag containing fruit, tea, sugar and a can box of ginger ale.
the night before he was endlessly scrolling on the internet to make this a successful meeting.
Tumblr media
luckily things went smoothly and as it turns out, your parents love him.
you mom asking you where your “friend” is while you’re both making tamayya. despite the fact you guys are dating and how much she loves him, the word boyfriend refuses to leave her mouth.
you knew he won both you and your moms hearts when he bought her a new thermos and tea set. so now she’s always excited to see him, especially knowing he treats you like a princess.
Tumblr media
super late but thank you @thisisnowmyusernamesworld for this ask, i literally took foreverrrr, and midway changed how i did it…lowkey am not a fan, but maybe next time i’ll something better!

USE OF BAKHOOR ON HAIR, CLOTHES, AND IN THE ROOM.
PREFACE:
A popular and widely used scent in the Middle East hub of Dubai, Bakhoor has been used for centuries and is the most common and widely used scent in the entire World. Bakhoor is a semi-solid product that when placed on burning charcoal, like in a charcoal burner or on a heating plate of an electric burner, releases a fragrant smoke that leaves the surrounding area and all its objects smelling delicate. Bakhoor does not have limited uses to only refresh and aromatize the air but acts as an all-in-one for aromatizing almost everything that envelopes it. Multiple uses of bakhoor is not the only reason for its popularity but some other factors also contribute to making Bakhoor an integral part of the life of the Arab people.
WHY IS BAKHOOR SO POPULAR AMONG ARABS?
Bakhoor term refers to an Arabic origin that means fumes in the Arabic language. This scent has not gained popularity in recent years but has been in use for centuries people are making new flavors and scents by changing the ingredient but it carries deep roots in the Arab culture and many families have preserved the Bakhoor-making methods and recipes for generations.
Bakhoor is mentioned in many hadith where it was made evident that using bakhoor is Sunnah and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used and encouraged the use of bakhoor. It is narrated that he said that Masjid should be scented with bakhoor and perfumed especially on the day of Jummah(Ibn-Majah). Moreover using bakhoor has a lot of benefits which would be discussed in detail below and why its use is so important and encouraged by the people of Dubai and the Middle East.
USE OF BAKHOOR:
Bakhoor as mentioned earlier is not limited just to the air, rather it infuses everything around it with its sweet smell. For taking the most advantage of this specialty of bakhoor let's find out how to use it for your benefit and to get the most out of the bakhoor smoke.
USE OF BAKHOOR ON HAIR:
Hairs are vital parts of a person's personality and especially in women they are generally long and their location near the nose makes them much more important because the nose can smell. Hairs have another characteristic of catching smell just like if a person sits near a smoke the hair entraps the smoke particle and begins to smell like it. Bakhoor also emits a type of smoke that is highly beneficial for the hairs as the hairs entrap smoke particle and begins to smell like this. This can also be taken into account that because of the sweat on hair, they begin to give a foul smell which surrounded the person's nose and is not appreciated. For getting rid of that bakhoor smoke can be used as it acts as the perfume for hairs substituting the hair care products that makes them smell good.
How to use Bakhoor on hair?:
For making your hairs smell like Bakhoor first, burn the bakhoor on a burner and carefully notice the smoke as some Bakhoors have very little to no smoke but the fumes can be observed. Carefully tilt your head and place your head in the direction of the smoke and with the help of hand waving, direct the smoke more towards your hair. This can be done anytime if you are perfuming your hair after getting fresh or when you are tired and needs some instant refreshment. Hand-combing your hair while absorbing the smoke will also be a great idea as it increases the settlement of smoke in the hair which in turn increases the duration of smell.
USE OF BAKHOOR ON CLOTHES AND THE TEMPERATURE ROLE:
Bakhoor acts as a great replacement for perfume, but the real question here is what made it so popular among Arabs that they use bakhoor for their clothes when they also have options for great perfumes? This is because the factor of temperature, as in Modern and Past Middle East there have always been high temperatures. The high temperature and fast and dry wind are present throughout the Gulf even in Dubai. This affects the perfume in such a way that under such dry, warm, and windy conditions, the perfume doesn't last long and is converted to the vapor phase immediately. Hence Bakhoor has a smoky nature and the particle of smoke last much longer in clothes than the most perfumes. Hence not only in the middle east but wherever there is summer or a warm climate bakhoor smell can serve as a replacement for many expensive perfumes
How to use Bakhoor on clothes?
For using bakhoor on clothes place the dress that you want to wear near the bakhoor smoke that is coming out of its burner. If you want to perfume all the clothes then place the bakhoor burner in a closet and let the smoke remain entrapped, this will not only makes your clothes smell beautiful but will also scent the wardrobe.
The safety precaution is way too much important as it is necessary to keep a safe distance from clothes and to put the cap of the bakhoor burner back after placing the bakhoor over charcoal.
USE OF BAKHOOR IN ROOM:
Bakhoor when used in a room acts as a replacement for air fresheners. Rooms do often start smelling with unwanted smells such as the dispersion of kitchen smell into the rooms which makes everything smell like food. Similarly, the unwanted smell of washrooms is also a common issue. Moreover, a nice smell should be present in the room and at home for better functioning of the brain and to keep a wave of freshness in the brain.
How to use bakhoor in a room?
For using bakhoor in the room place the burning charcoal or electric bakhoor burner at a safe spot in any corner of the room or near you on the side table. Make sure that the burner avoids all contact with clothes and kids and is covered properly with the lid. Also, there should be little to no ventilation as it disperses the smoke and make it go out of the room. A covered and safe environment is preferred for a nice fragrance in the room
FINAL WORDS:
Bakhoor is a gift of Arab land and culture and is in use since ages and is highly preferred and liked because of its cultural, religious, and traditional advantages. It is advised to buy bakhoor from trustworthy sellers and Oud Dubai is one of the finest names in this market. At Oud Dubai, you can choose the best bakhoor that fits your taste, and with online and offline offices, both are offered to make it highly easy for the loyal and new customers of this brand.
