Badri looked puzzled. He hated his mother getting emotional over his younger years. It made him feel strange and didn’t know how to comfort her. Bria and Badri were best of friends. They were almost like Bonnie and Clyde: doing almost everything together, especially going for ice cream on their breaks from university. Ice Cream was Bria’s favorite. He even walks her to class and enjoys their hugs before going their separate ways.

Badri let out a soft chuckle, rubbing the back of his head, now. “Wow mom. You’re so sensitive.” He teased, nodding at his father. “Of course I’ll be here for dinner! I heard Bria is making vegetarian lasagna with Alfred. Don’t tell Alfred I know that he likes her lasagna.” He playfully winked and picked up an apple to nibble on, and grabbed another for Lapin when he went to his room.

“Oh Allah, is mom pregnant again? Please don’t be pregnant again!” He joked again. “I’ll be there. I, uh...Gotta get studying. I have a big test tomorrow. Bria does, too....” He waved at his family and scurried off to get Bria and go to his room for a group study with Lapin.

Bria delivered the wine in the kitchen and looked back at Badri walking to his bedroom. She liked Lapin...found him strangely attractive...something about him made her feel inferior. She would always say silly things and get tongue tied and Badri makes fun of her about it.

Before going to Badri, she looked at Bruce and Jaina, smelling Lapin around. He must’ve walked through before his parents went into the kitchen. “Anything else you need of me, Mister and Misses Wayne?”

Jaina continued to hide Lapin and she sniffled, wiping her tears. “I’m okay for now...Can’t wait for that lasagna.” She forced a smile.

We are taking care of an elderly relative, whose health is rapidly declining. So we've been trying to get all their papers in order, pay their bills, do the taxes, arrange care and other things that need done. She called yesterday all excited...

Her "God told me where that paper was we were looking for. It was in the safe! I'm so excited that I had to tell you"

Me "This would be the same safe Bob (Close family friend who is helping) and I told you we should clear out last week, so we could go through the papers here?"

She had to go and hung up.

For some reason she didn't want to clear out the safe the other week. The relative lives 2 hours away, so Bob and I thought it would be best if we had everything at home to go through. We were sure there was stuff in there that we might need. Now I didn't think anything of my comment. I wasn't trying to be snarky or mean. I'm just exhausted.

As soon as I hung up, my teenagers started laughing. Both are atheist and left the church as soon as possible. They've informed me that the comment I made was a bit sus, which I assume means it could come off as a bit insensitive. My wife didn't call last night, so she could be a little mad, but she is probably busy and tired.

I just gave the whole thing a big eye roll. I really hope we are not going into the stage of God talking to her.
