ROOT SPAGOOTS COMPLETELY COMPREHENSIVE EPIC LONG ESSAY TO EXPLAIN WHY YOU GUYS ARE MISCHARACTERIZING CACAO AS A TERRIBLE PERSON (part one)
Cacao Left His Villagers to Die?
Starting off strong, let's go to the first part of the story (episode 13: Snow on the Black Wall)
We're first introduced to both Cacao and Affogato in a bad lighting. First impressions are important after all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
An unnamed cookie comes to the wall in search of help, more importantly mentioning starvation in the village and constant attacks.
Tumblr media
Notice the phrasing here. Affogato uses “We” rather than “I” implying guilt on Cacaos side, or at least the other watchers, yet what we see later is the fact that Affogato had greatly understated their issues, even calling them “petitioners” and not suffering citizens.
Tumblr media
The cookie attempts to see the king, yet Affogato turns them away instead.
Tumblr media
If Dark Cacao knew about how bad it was, there would be no reason to turn them away, infact having them talk to Cacao and him turning them away would reflect more horribly than Affogato just saying no.
(Ever-closed Gate)
Next we get this scene from before
Tumblr media
And this is followed by Cacao being emo. But this should also be acknowledged.
Tumblr media
Despite Cacao being immortal and pretty powerful he's still just one man. This is followed by Affogato mentioning whispers about Cacao decision to close the gate, and when Cacao insists on it, instead of saying “no take care of your people” or even just saying okay, Affogato rewards his actions with positive affirmation.
Tumblr media
This is important. Affogato is verbally rewarding the behavior that has killed people outside the walls and harmed many citizens, while he actively knows the circumstances outside as previously shown.
Yet this blame is put on Dark Cacao by fans, it's blatantly aware that he doesn't know about the circumstances outside the wall, and while an argument can be attempted to be made about him being more aware about the people outside the kingdom, that's his advisor, AFFOGATO'S, job to inform him of such things.
I'm skipping (Milk Village) because I feel I'll just be addressing what I already said here ↑
Tl;dr: Cacao didn't even know what was happening outside of the walls bc affo was lying about it like he always does

daenerys targaryen is waaay better than me, because the moment the north would started throwing shade at my crew, I'm out.
you don't like them? whatever, not everyone has a good taste. but give them some respect.
boo-hoo poor sansa, how we're gonna feed them? I DON'T THINK THAT SHOULD BE YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM SINCE THE DEAD ARMY IS COMING. 1. you feed them, 2. you kick dead asses, 3. daenerys gives food from the rest of westeros to the north, in that order, is that simple. "what the dragons eat anyway?" mmm I don't know, maybe meat?? maybe not your problem?? 15 minutes and those dragons will be far away, they'll catch a snack and get back. btw that will give you enough time to inform like 47, 48 persons about secrects you should keep your mouth shut.
all sansa did was "we can't give daenerys the north, we don't need her", okay honey, give me better idea.
those people were that arrogant that they rather reject dany's help AND DIE instead of acknowledge they need her, her army and dragons and the fact she's rightful queen. interesting that sansa or none of the women living there said "hey, you know, send daenerys away, I'm gonna fight for winterfell", they just decided to show how much they despise her and hide in the crypts while dany was risking her life for theirs ungrateful asses.
I would be out in SECONDS. no, even more, instead of talking with jon "please, just bend the knee, man", I'd kill cersei, take the iron throne, make my army bigger, produce more weapon, keep my THREE dragons alive and get ready for dead army. you don't wanna bend the knee, you don't wanna be part of the seven kingdoms? fine, fight with night king's army alone, good luck with that. any person from common people is very welcome in my lands of sIX kIngDoMs under my protection, maybe i'd send them on some island or whatever but most of the northenders, men, their lords, ladies (SANSA AND LYANNA I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU), king etc can die at their own request.
"they didn't trust daenerys, they trusted jon" if they trusted him that much , why didn't they trust him that he made right decision bending the knee to daenerys? funny enough most of those people didn't know jon personally, the same as they didn't know daenerys. all they knew was what they heard about them and what in those stories were bad about dany? about merciful queen who uses her power to save common people, slaves? bunch of racist, xenophobic, biased assholes.
sansa wanted to leave the north since she was a little girl, now you want it back? fine, then fight for it. not expect that someone will do it for you and then make you a queen (what literally happened). knights of the vale fought on littlefinger's order, dothraki and unsullied for daenerys, north for NED'S STARK CHILDREN, not you personally sweetie, you didn't do a shit for them.
daenerys was sooo calm when everyone were praising arya and jon for what they did in the battle ("OMG JON RODE THE DRAGON", hmmm only bc dany let him to and dude barely could do it) I'D BE FURIOUS
"winterfell is your, your grace" ok sweetie, you know what, nevermind, I'm out. with that attitude you can stop night king by yourself, see yaaaa... or not

if you're comfortable, i would love to know more about the akechi npd headcanon. i think it's a rlly interesting take on his character and i wanna learn more abt npd bc i have bpd and ig im interested in what people experience with the other cluster b personality disorders? i just kinda wanna know why you think he has it and also maybe some of the mental stuff he has to experience with it. doesn't have to be detailed or personal i dont wanna make u uncomfy! i just cant stop thinking abt this hc haha :)
im actually on a mental health break right now, but this ask intrigued me so im answering it anyway. first off thank you for staying kind throughout the whole thing :)
its kind of hard for me to really describe why i think a character has/is something, because things like personality disorders are still a wide spectrum and every person experiences things differently, and i dont wanna make it seem like theres a one-way to have npd, but im gonna try anyway!
there is a site which helped me immensely throughout my self-diagnosis, so if you want to read more about the topic than what im gonna say here, here u go:
lets start simple and the thing that makes it most obvious to me: the engine room dialogue.
people with npd can heavily rely on other people for their self-esteem, because narcissists usually have a very low one. thats why they take on many tasks ("i was extremely particular about my life, my grades, my public image—so someone would want me around!") and might overwork themselves for more praise and acknowledgement ("you wanted to be acknowledged, didn't you? to be loved?") because its what they need to not constantly crash. a crash is something that happens when you dont get enough supply—which can be words of affection, praise, acknowledgement, etc—and you internalize it, doubt yourself, feel disgusting and generally you get to a really low point. this is just speculation, but i can see goro having a ton of those, especially during the time the phantom thieves get popular and he becomes public enemy nr 1. thats also why i drew him thinking "i really need supply rn but i'd rather die than ask for attention" because vulnerability is also a big thing people with npd can struggle with. we dont want to be seen as weak—our narcissism is essentially a shield, so we're seen as tough, when in reality, our egos can be very fragile.
one thing that the engine room makes very clear and also other interactions goro has with akira, is that hes very envious of others who have had it better than him. especially someone like akira, who was thrown away by society just like he was, was able to move past it, found friends and is acknowledged by many people. goro is jealous of it all, and thats the thing; people with npd can feel like they're supposed to be special ( and to me, with goro explaining how he got his personas, and how he often calls others stupid, its clear that he does feel that way about himself to a certain degree ) and anyone who threatens that status, anyone who seems much more special than we are is seen as a legitimate threat. its an ugly feeling and it can make us hate even those we love for some time.
this attributes to dysregulation of our emotions too. people with npd often feel their emotions, especially negative ones, way more intense than they actually should be and have difficulty calming down due to that. negative emotions often linger for a long period of time and its hard to move on so we hold grudges. now this might come to no surprise to anyone that goro is a very angry and sad person. especially in the engine room its clear that even after the others extend their hands out to him, its difficult for him to comprehend and he still acts rather mean and calls them idiots for trying to "save" him. when someone with npd is experiencing a multitude of negative emotions, it may cause them to avoid other people or act aggressive towards them because they feel trapped. theres many explanations as to why goro is the way he is in the 3rd semester, and i dont think only one of them has to be correct, but i do think that with the knowledge of whats happening ( like: being under the control of someone else again, or having to work with people who are unpredictable and who have seen you at your lowest point ) makes him act out to keep all of them, especially akira, at bay.
in the duel against akira—im sorry i cant really quote it, i just have a general idea of it in my head rn—i read what he says in a way that makes it clear that he struggles with a superiority AND inferiority complex, which sounds stupid at first i know, but its fairly easy to explain. like i already said, a narcissist's self-esteem is usually pretty low and we rely on others to know how to feel about ourselves. theres two traits of npd that are necessary traits to have: being self-centered and feeling entitled to good treatment, and seeking admiration from others/liking to be the center of attention. so there is some kind of superiority complex going on, at least thats what i would call it in goro's ( and my ) case. we can feel on top of the world in one moment, but once we have a crash or experience intense negative emotions, its back to being the worst human being on earth. i dont think its ooc to say that goro hates himself, as some like to claim he only ever thinks hes better than everyone else. i think that just attributes to harmful stigma. with everything goro experiences in life, coping with narcissism to hide a fragile sense of being just makes sense to me.
theres more i could probably add here but this thing is long enough as is. please do keep in mind that many of my headcanons for goro are me projecting—but that doesnt mean theres no basis for it in canon as well, as i've tried to explain here. at first i actually thought he could have bpd, but i dont know enough about it to really judge that—so it could still very well be that, or both, i dont really know how it works! im rather new to this as well, and at first i was scared of doing any research because npd is so heavily stigmatized. i wish there were more people like you, anon.
if you have any more questions feel free to ask them :)

ok thoughts were brewing in the shower again i need to force them onto other ppl now
so y’all know that one scene during the guild arc where atsushi goes under q’s curse and dazai has to lit slap him to snap him out of it? there’s usually two reactions i see ppl have to it, they either think it was shitty of dazai to do that to him or they think it was fair cuz they were in a time crunch and he needed atsushi to focus
whether u agree that it was understandable or not i don’t rlly care let’s just acknowledge for now that there was in fact a limited time they were working w
either way most ppl seem to agree that the reason he knew that would work was due to his past w aku and that he was basically reverting back to his old ways a little when he slapped him and i always see ppl using that scene to argue that dazai hasn’t rlly changed at all and he’s just as bad as he used to b, however i don’t rlly think that was why he did that or that it had anything to do w aku but rather sm else
cuz the main argument for why the slap was cruel is bc atsushi looks up to dazai and up until that moment he had been nothing but kind and helpful to him so having the person who saved him suddenly slap him out of nowhere could’ve risked making him feel worse, that and he’s alr been through sm other shit too sm that dazai is fully aware of
the more i thought abt it though the more i realized how much that encounter reminded me of another scene from dark era
i dont think i need to tell u guys just how imp oda was to dazai or how large of an impact he had on him it’s pretty fucking obvious, I mean he lit drops everything just to fulfill his death wish, basically what I’m trying to say is that he’s clearly someone dazai looked up to right?
and idk but it must’ve been pretty confusing to have oda of all ppl suddenly tell him that he’s never gonna find what he’s looking for and that he’ll always wander in dark alone and that nothing would ever make him feel better, while he’s watching him die in front of him no less
if u think abt it, it was a pretty cruel thing to say to someone like dazai, and it could’ve easily made things worse, but all things considered there rlly wasn’t any time for him to b sugar coating anything he just needed to make dazai understand, and make sure he snapped dazai out of that pessimistic ideology he had so he could finally start to heal before he ran out of time and left him on his own
it’s pretty similar to that scene w atsushi imo and i think that his reasoning behind slapping him like that had more to do w that scene w oda than it did w anything else esp w the whole “stop pitying urself” speech he gave him which is kinda like how oda was basically like “ur gonna keep being miserable if u go on like that”
idk I just personally think it would make more sense if that was the case but maybe I’m looking too much into it 🤷‍♀️

rambling about catws!Bucky because time is a flat circle
Lowkey tough being a Bucky stan (hehe) out here bc atp the mcu just doesn’t know what to do with him and it’s absolutely tragic because catws is a great movie and a huge part of that is how beautifully they presented the Winter Soldier. Like he is undeniably (personally don’t @ me) the best part of that whole movie. Last time I went this insane over analyzing actors’ facial expressions was the hunger games and that’s basically the peak of fiction for me. So, here’s me doing exactly that
warning: no beta we die like my vocal chords watching catws for the first time
Something that sits at the forefront in my mind abt Seb’s acting as the Winter Soldier is how good he is at being blank. Normally when I think of blank, no thoughts head empty acting it’s just a completely unmoveable demeanor and from what I see in fics it’s a common interpretation that the Winter Soldier is just an empty husk. And while he’s definitely a lot less sentient than he seems to be in the comics I don’t think he’s as robotic as people like to write about (and how I like to read abt so dw this isn’t me trashing on that).
I read a post on here that was either a meta or rant that I def reblogged but don’t feel like looking for that was either or about or mentioned how the Winter Soldier is def a powerhouse but that’s just a building that was made from the frame of Bucky’s own combat skills from the war.
I think his sentience is somewhat similar to that in how he isn’t so much as an empty bodyguard and more like a tunnel-visioned fighter. His mind isn’t a blank slate in a body that’s blindly committing violence but a constantly calculating fighter (a trait I also think was just built off of Bucky’s own violent skills derived from the war) whose mind is occupied only by whatever violence he’s committing.
Seb’s facial expressions as the winter soldier present this well. Again, when you think of the empty husk the Winter Soldier is you’d expect little personality and emotion to be acted out as that character. The thing is, he’s not an empty husk. Seb does a good job at having existent and moving facial expressions without any real human emotion being shown by them. When the Winter Soldier furrows his brows as he fights or thoughtfully looks offscreen when he pulls off his goggles(?) in the lead up to the reveal he’s only expressing the slightest bit of acknowledgement to whatever is happening. Particularly, usually in fight scenes when people do the former it’s to make the character look mad or determined. When the Winter Soldier does it it’s just there. Sebastian manages to move his face in ways that should indicate fully-felt emotions but still only add up to a blank face.
Perhaps in that way the Winter Soldier is somewhat robotic not in the way of an emotionless android but rather an intelligent algorithm.
so, blah blah blah Sebastian is really good at acting blank. But what about when the Winter Soldier does show emotion. Disclaimer that in my rewatch I only saw the highway fight/reveal and the helicarrier, not when Fury and Steve get attacked in his apartment. With this, the first time I believe we see the Winter Soldier breaking out of the emotionless mask is the cute little bout of panic he has shortly after the mask/muzzle comes off, when his eyes get big and be looks off in a way unlike before where instead of it being the slightest indication of thought and strategy it’s a genuine feeling of panic and confusion. This is very much in contrast to moment before after he asks who the hell Bucky is and shoots at Steve. He says the words, but that’s it. His face doesn’t move to accommodate any sort of emotion any normal person would be feeling when they said that sentence. His mouth simply moves as he asks (though the blankness is still broken by then because I have doubts the 100% Winter Soldier would ever take the time or express the confusion that’d come with asking that question). Immediately after he clicks back into reality and the mission at hand when he shoots at Steve he doesn’t return to his before blankness. His eyebrows furrow and this time it’s not simply an unconscious physical result of being focused or whatever but he’s genuinely confused and desperately trying to follow what he’s being made to do. Up until that point, not once does the Winter Soldier bother to halt anything he’s doing in a fight if not necessary. This is the first time he personally hesitates.
And then the helicarrier scene. Oh lord almighty the blessed helicarrier scene. By here the Winter Soldier is back to Winter Soldier-ing, blank and emotionless no matter what movement his face makes. And he stays like that for the entire pre-fight pleading Steve’s doing in that bridge(?) thing. UNTIL Steve says “please don’t make me do this”
Now I noticed this in my rewatch yesterday and then while I was rewatching the scene on yt to write this I fought for my life trying to figure out which cut to Bucky in that convo in which he does it, so I damn-near thought i hallucinated it. But I swear to god his head tilts down and his eyebrows go up. It’s similar to the facial movements he does before when he’s full Winter Soldier where his face moves but it doesn’t indicate any actual emotion being felt. This time however it just somehow does. He’s pleading, for what I literally cannot think of but his face moves only slightly and it somehow spreads the full feeling throughout his entirety. In the next cut after that he doesn’t have that same emotion, but it was there.
From then on the curtain is ripped. Now Bucky fights and he scrunches up his face and all of the sort and he’s not only expressing emotion but he’s doing it so blatantly. So blatantly in fact that I can tell he seems to feel almost desperate.
Remember earlier when I mentioned that not once does the Winter Soldier bother to halt himself unless necessary to survey the situation or something the sort. Yeah, none of that is here. He’s unbelievably sloppy, not as fast and hit-for-hit with Steve as he was during the highway/reveal. And throughout the fight he only gets slower and slower, his face scrunches and moves more and more., and he wastes more and more time talking and trying to make Steve suffer and feel how he’s getting hit as if to prove to something or someone that he’s not succumbing to the memories bubbling up inside him and straying from his mission.
Until finally Steve says “I’m with you til the end of the line” and fandom was never the same
and neither was Bucky, because despite the fact that his luscious locks are blowing all over the damn place, all over his face, we see down to the atom what he’s feeling. It’s the Winter Soldier’s end of the line, and now Bucky is here to get fucked over by the mcu’s writing.
Again, catws is my favorite mcu movie in terms of acting and writing and the reason why is because they did so well at writing such a horribly tragic victim. I stay saying that Seb is one of the best actors in the mcu and the reason why is because of how agonizing his performance of the winter soldier’s mental turmoil is. So why on God’s green Earth is the mcu so intent on making some bullshit atonement plotline (or a poor attempt at showcasing Bucky’s internal guilt that comes off as an atonement plotline, depends on who you ask) and throwing him in with anti-heroes/villains when it really doesn’t fit what his arc should be AT ALL???
anyway god bless Sebastian for being damn-good at acting out agony

I was watching cannibalism stageplay and found that it pointed out smth very interesting!!! Atsushi's relationship with his orphanage director/headmaster actually resembles Akutagawa's relationship with Dazai
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both Dazai and the orphanage director/headmaster deeply abused and traumatized their students, but it is revealed that both of them did so in concern for their students' survival.
Dazai treated Akutagawa harshly so he would have the strength to live, and even thrive, in the mafia. The orphanage director/headmaster treated Atsushi harshly so that atsushi could keep living with himself when things eventually came crashing down around him (such as when the tiger went feral).
They are also both revealed to have had a rough—arguably even rougher than their students' in some aspects—life, and as such wanted to protect their students from the same pain and agony... though toughening them up through even more agony, enough so that they could persevere and survive through real awful situations later on
honestly i never even thought about this parallel before the stageplay, so this was super duper cool
(more stuff analysis about dazai under the cut!!!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
what's even more interesting is that dazai seems to acknowledge this parallel, and it's through this that we gain further insight on how he views akutagawa. It's clear that he knows full well that what he had done to akutagawa was unforgiveable, and does not expect forgiveness.
however, it's still evident that dazai cares for Akutagawa (again, still does not at all justify what he did to him, but definitely helps put things in perspective). If he hadn't, why would Dazai have put him through all that training and suffering to toughen him up, when he could have just as easily thrown him to the wolves and left him to die as a meaningless grunt in the mafia?
Dazai saw a young child, only 2 years younger than him, with a similar lack of a will to live in his eyes. He didn't need to take him into the mafia, but he did. he saw that kid with nothing else to keep him pushing through life, and sought to give him a similar home and salvation that the mafia brought him. Perhaps even better, perhaps give him the hope that dazai had wished the mafia have given him (as it is revealed in stormbringer that he had already gotten tired of the mafia after a year despite saying that he might find a reason to live bc of it in 15).
but for akutagawa to be able to find a home in the mafia (which, its clear that he does later on, such as when he was trying to bring kyouka back to the mafia) dazai had to make sure that he could survive through the bad, hence the... well, y'know. we've all memed on that one gif of dazai beating the shit out of aku. i think. i dunno maybe im just fucked up.
dazai isnt a dick to akutagawa bc he was an edgy teenager or just for shits and giggles. and he didn't push akutagawa to the fullest because he didn't comprehend how strong he actually was, pushing on a notion of weakness onto him.
dazai knows that akutagawa is strong. we know he knows. Hell, Chuuya (and atsushi too but idk if im remembering the guild aftermath scene right) knows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So did Dazai's method of putting aku through hell to make him develop a "loathesome anger to help him survive" work? yeah. does it resemble what atsushi went through at the hands of his orphanage director/headmaster? yeah.
however, the similarities in their way of teaching doesn't end there. Dazai's method of training akutagawa resulted in an extremely low self-esteem, the kind that depends on another's approval. While atsushi doesn't necessarily depend on the approval of others, he does have a very low self esteem and rather depends on helping others to prove that he's worthy of living.
This unfortunate side effect of Dazai's and the orphanage director/headmaster's teaching method is likely unintentional, as both probably only focused on the intended outcome of strengthening akutagawa/atsushi.
so anyway idk how to end this so yeah. tldr cannibalism stageplay pointed out the parallel between atsushi's relationship with his orphanage director/headmaster vs akutagawa's relationship with dazai. as such, it helps give really interesting insight on why dazai treated aku that way.

So you have Sersi from the eternals as your dp. What do you like about her? Why do you think she is important? Just curious.
I waited to answer this so I could have time to collect my thoughts on Sersi and why's my fave.
I mean, the first time I saw the movie I was just. Drawn to her. I think from the moment she turned the stone dagger into gold, and then the timeskip and we saw her walking into work and talking to the statue of Charles Darwin I was like "Oh, she's gonna be my favourite, I can tell." And then I was right because every point after that I fell more in love with her and by the time the movie was over I was obsessed with her forever. So inexplicable attraction is the first reason.
One of the things I like about Sersi the most is that, for a movie that's about a team of aliens who have to live amongst humanity for thousands of years, Sersi is the one who fully embraces it, for good and bad. Phastos stopped, but came around again after making his own human family. Druig loves humanity, but his form of love is control - he would rather they not have any control over their lives if it meant they'd stop having conflict, because he knows better than them (I need Druig stans to stop acting like he loves humanity without acknowledging this, bc it's creepy and fucked up). But Sersi loves humanity, for good and for bad. Every time she's interacting with humans - back in Babylon, with the kids she teaches, in Druig's village, even the brief scene at Phastos's house - she's having a great time. She loves them. She more than anyone else has embraced this planet as her home, and these people as her own.
But that's also part of her internal conflict. the movie isn't as in depth with this unfortunately, but she's spent the last 7000 or however years thinking they'll all eventually return to Olympia, which is their 'real' home. So as much as she loves these people, however long she spends on Earth with them, she's going to have to leave eventually. She says it herself - they're just waiting for Arishem to tell them they can come home. And the Mission is what matters most, right? So she has to set up a barrier in her heart - Earth isn't her home, Olympia is. And that also is part of the conflict when they find out the truth about the convergence. Because it's throwing EVERYTHING she believed into question. because she spent forever loving these people, this planet, but also believing in the mission because why wouldn't she, she trusts Ajak, and now suddenly the mission has changed. and she has to choose between The Mission (even if the mission has changed) and everyone she loves dying. but she's still the first to say "We're not going to let everyone on earth die, right?!" like regardless of how much she struggles with making a choice on what to do, she knows there's only one right outcome, even if they don't know how to get there.
and like, as a story, narratively I wish Sersi had gotten to actually take charge of the group and make a clear decision without circumstances forcing her to do something she's still unsure about. but with her personality in mind, it makes sense to me. She's been thrust into leadership unexpectedly, not to mention it's made explicitly clear that her leadership isn't actually respected by the group (as a whole, individually it's different) because everyone thought it would be Ikaris instead and he's their de facto leader anyway. So her not having any idea what to do in this situation? Trying to decide, doubting herself, but still having to step up in the end - and STILL not sure she made the right choice? Makes so much sense to me. Very relatable. I felt that, I am her. Wish it had been different for the sake of her character arc, but I still get it.
I guess the final answer to your question of why I think she's important and what I like about her is that Sersi is that out of all of them, she fully steps into the life they have to lead. Sprite admits to being jealous of humans and sides with Ikaris, Ikaris is self explanatory, Gilgamesh and Thena both stepped away from human life, Ajak loves humanity and changes her mind but still is shown to be living a solitary life out in the middle of nowhere, Druig and Phastos I already talked about, Makkari hides away on the Domo for several centuries and besides curiosity about their artifacts doesn't seem interested in humans themselves, and Kingo does love the people of Earth but lives as a celebrity so not exactly one with the common man.
Sersi lives a normal life among the people she loves. Sersi is unsure about everything except that she won't let humanity die. Sersi is the one who wholeheartedly embraces Earth as her home the moment she's free to do so. Sersi is the one who loves them enough to do anything to save them, even when she doesn't believe she can. Sersi is the heart of the story, and the one who saves the day, even when she's scared and doesn't know if she's doing the right thing, because it's the only way to save everyone.
this whole thing got away from me I hope this makes sense I'm not going back to reread this and make it make sense or make it cohesive.
other random things I love about Sersi
she loves kids. every time she interacts with a kid she looks so happy. it's so cute.
green is my favourite colour so there was no way I wouldn't love her just because of that. and she looks so good in it too.
just watch her face when she, Ikaris and Sprite are watching Kingo's performance - she looks so delighted. Ikaris and Sprite are just like wtf but she looks so EXCITED!
she's 7000~ years old and she's still a terrible liar. Dane brings up her ex who's 7000 years old and can fly, and she says "he's a pilot".
her indecision is so relatable to me I said this already but it's true. Anyone would be struggling in her shoes.
she's GOOD and she's KIND. she tries her best.
her powers are so cool like. there's a boulder 3x her size flying her way, shot out of a volcanic eruption, and it takes one quick touch to turn it into a flock of birds. like if she were even a second off she'd die, but she doesn't even flinch.
people claim that druig doesn't care about anyone but Makkari and they're so wrong for that like he listens to Sersi, he does, in fact, care about her opinion and care about her. she doesn't demand his help or threaten him, she asks for his help and then tells him he's better than this, and he listens to her.
Ajak and Thena, obectively two of the coolest Eternals, are her biggest supporters so if you don't support Sersi they wouldn't support you, sorry.
in the comic on webtoon (which was not good but whatever) she collects trinkets and artifacts from everywhere they've been and it's filling the whole Domo, she's just like me fr (she and Makkari)
the way that when they're leaving Phastos's home, she reaches out to comort him as they're walking down the street. and when he's telling her (not Ikaris, he's only talking to Sersi even though Ikaris is also there) about losing his faith and getting it back with his family, she's listening with a sympathetic, understanding look. she gets it. she loves that he's found this family for himself. she's happy for him. they're best friends to me.
she's chronically late, talks to statues, is obsessed with her phone and apps, and forgets to silence her phone in the middle of important meetings. she's a dork. I love her so much.
hope this late, long rambling answer makes sense and answers your question!

Okay wait I love this whole gardener batmom detail. Maybe you could write something about the stages of the garden? I can see her letting it kinda die off when she was mourning Jason and then the baby. Bruce almost crying seeing her slowly go back out there when she started to heal from it. Coming back after Damian and finding out Alfred (or even Bruce) kept up with it.
TEACHING FOOD INSECURE BABY JASON ALL ABOUT FOOD AND NUTRITION AND FOODS HES NEVER EVEN KNEW EXISTED THROUGH THE GARDEN BC HE GREW UP IN A FOOD DESERT!!!!!!
I could give a 50 slide PowerPoint on this topic. Thanks for a new obsession.
Jason looked out the window and frowned, "Hey, Alfie?"
"Yes?"
"What is she doing?" he said, pointing out to where you were tearing half-dead plants out of the ground and tossing them into a waiting wheelbarrow.
"Ah," he said, glancing out, "It appears Miss Y/N had deemed the growing season at an end- She's putting the Vegetable patch to bed and getting it ready for winter."
Jason frowned, "You don't do that?"
"Haven't for years," the butler chuckled, squeezing his shoulder and returning your wave when you noticed you were being watched. "I might do some weeding. And I'm happy to help her with the planting. But Miss Y/N is much better at all this than I am."
"Should I-"
"I'm sure she'd be happy for your assistance," he said smiling. "It's a rather tedious task."
_________
Bruce watched, amused as you explained to Jason about companion planting, pollinators, and composting. Lecturing patiently and answering questions as he helped you sketch out the plans for the garden this year.
"Cherries grow on trees?"
"Yes. And with some luck, my cherry trees, Strawberry bushes, and Apple Trees will all give us some fruit this year- Some of it we'll keep but most of it I'll have picked and given over to food banks."
Jason nodded seriously, considering that. He remembered eating from food banks. Everything was canned. He didn't think he'd ever eaten a cherry that wasn't in pie filling or a can of fruit cocktail.
"It's not much," you acknowledge, misunderstanding his silence "But"
Jason patted your hand and looked up at you, "People will like it anyway," he said confidently. "Like when we made the birthday cake kits. And the spices and stuff."
"Think so?" you hum, brushing an errant curl out of his eyes.
"Uh- huh," he said grinning as he looked back down, "Hey-"
"What Jaybird?"
"Shouldn't you put the corn over there?"
You look down at your plans and frown slightly, double-checking yourself and smile, "Good catch, dude."
___________
Alfred looked down at your desk. There was a finished garden plan with little addendums in Jason's handwriting. Things he wanted added- or removed. The boy had HATED carrots and so those were conspicuously absent. But in their place were radishes and sweet potatoes.
The air outside was getting warmer- time for you to move your seedlings. But you hadn't been able to even think about it. Without your faithful assistant to help you this year- your heart just wasn't in it. On a good day, you could shamble along. Going through the motions. But this- this was not that day. And there hadn't been a good day all week.
So he gently rolled up your meticulously drawn map and tucked it under his arm. You didn't have the strength to do it- not right now. But he'd be damned if he was going to let you feel like you let Jason down later when the fog cleared and you could feel anything other than pain.
Jason would understand- All of Gotham would understand, if he was being honest. There would still be apples and honey and berries- But Jason loved helping you do this. The donations and the starting little community gardens in empty lots.
The community gardens would still be seen to, thanks to your small army of intrepid volunteers and school children. But your Garden- your little safe haven wouldn't. Not this year. Not unless someone gave you a hand. And so, he headed to the greenhouse. He couldn't stop the pain- but at least he could do this.
He stopped at the door of the greenhouse, listening to the voices inside. Arguing in hushed tones and smiled a little. Evidently, he wasn't the only one that noticed the change in temperature and missed the smell of soil being turned over.
"Gentlemen," Alfred said, smiling a little when they both, Dick and Bruce turned, looking guilty, "I believe this has everything on it that we need."
Alfred didn't miss the flash of pain in Bruce's eyes as he noted the handwriting. "Everything?" Dick asked skeptically.
"Between this and the tricks Miss Y/N's taught me- I think we can make a good go of it," Alfred said nodding, unrolling the plans carefully and pinning them to the table.
"At least until she can do it herself," Bruce said nodding.

i don’t even go here but i think it’s fair to be frustrated with enji for not batting an eye when he sees the state of touya’s body
i genuinely expected him to freak out or show some concern. i feel like that’s the bare minimum. like touyas skin is melting off the bone and his first thought is “he’s using shoto’s move” ?? no shock, concern or comment about touya’s injuries?? how u can see his bone and muscle?? lmao ok. it’s always about quirks with this guy
idk i just keep expecting more empathy and compassion from him, to acknowledge the suffering of another person, especially his victims (which he hasn’t btw, most of his internal narration are about his feelings) since the story is trying so hard to convince me he’s changed and that he actually cares for touya now. if the leaks are correct, he actually calls it his “mission”, something that is “imposed” on him. and going by the dialogue, it still feels very hero vs villain rather than a father talking to the long lost son he wants to bring back home (obviously next chapters might show us the meat of it since this is just a very short setup chapter).
it’s interesting why hori would consistently choose to write enji that way. my theory is that i think he could be planning to die with touya? which is why he isn’t so worried about touya’s injuries and why his face looks more determined rather than concerned. there’s just something ominous about it. if he went into this war with the goal of bringing touya home alive, seeing touya like that should leave him shaken, bc it makes his goal MUCH harder.
it makes me feel like he thinks touya can’t be saved (or rather, the possibility didn’t even occur to him), but that he’ll be there for him when they both go down. technically, that still counts as “watching touya”. he’s basically going to atone by giving touya what he wants. the fact that we’ve never seen a real conversation between shoto and enji about touya’s fate and how it feels purposely vague is telling tbh
naturally, shoto needs to arrive in time to stop them. it also gives him something to do if he ends up saving his 2 family members who are set on dying together.

(OC Universe questions)
4, 12, 23, 24
4.) what would you say is the message, if there is one.
frankly there is a significant overlap between CW and GD's messages. let's go down the list
trapping someone in a miserable place only continues the cycles of abuse and pain.
the bad things that happened to you really were that bad. you're not crazy. you're right to be angry. those grownups did fail you.
you can't fix someone. you can only love them.
dying for love usually just looks a whole lot like regular dying
you deserved better than you got; someone's gotta say it sometime cuz it's true. people should have told you you were awesome instead of taking advantage of you.
living your whole life assuming you'll die young makes it incredibly scary to acknowledge the fact that youll keep living, but you have to rise up to it. and you wont rise up alone
one day the sadness will end.
12.) okay be honest. pick a favorite oc from this ocverse.
Tumblr media
i do the most with sicely but i gotta be honest. miss hero complex is the number one in my heart
23.) describe how everyones character gets butchered once in the public eye?
Sicely - CRANKY. spicy latina trope. verbally berating and doesn't actually like any of their friends.
Anthea - i think a lot of people would go some flavor of yandere-lite with anthea and really play up her sweet-but-murdersome angle rather than acknowledge she has very good reasons to be mad
Ari - she'd become the serious nerd who puts up with everyones shenanigans (Rose and Kanaya syndrome). shipped with lucerne only in a token gesture in the bg of opaljiro fics
Lucerne - who
Opal - the fandom darling, he is mischaracterized in ways you didnt even think god could invent. sweet idiot babbu who doesnt know what hes doing or the harm hes causing! no matter what happens people still ship him rosy-style with sicely. opalsicely is like kris x berdly but stupider and way more unhealthy
Jiro - opals boyfriend. his status as this is the primary bastion against opalsicely shippers
Araceli - irredeemable bitch of a woman who is morally worse than the men murdering children bc she doesnt react rationally to the fact that shes trapped in an apocalyptic time loop
Midas - i think a lot of people would, upon knowing midas' true colors, forget that he's a very charismatic and caring person. he'd be treated as a mastermind chessmaster manipulator who never really loved anyone, rather than a guy whose overabundance of emotional reactions causes him to act in manipulative and confining ways
Thomas - uke who has no agency, was forced into helping midas and is secretly really affectionate and sweet and moral deep down. "i can fix him"

wild blue yonder thoughts
(initial live watch and next day rewatch)
live
- the very beginning for a second was giving me ascension of the cybermen vibes, like bright, green, really calm idk
- not sure if the newton stuff was funny or cringe
- all that happening bc donna spilt some coffee is so dumb 😭 like okay the tardis is weak as fuck
- the amount of cgi was mildly off-putting at times but also like obviously a corridor like that would need to be in large part cgi
- 14 may have just meant newton was good looking generally and also his 'is that who I am now' comment was probs more of a 'oh am I the kind of person to find ppl attractive/be open about it' rather than a 'do I fancy men now' moment (tho donna assuming it was kinda funny) but also I'm hoping 14 being kinda openly attracted to men is a sign for what 15 is gonna be like. like let's keep it going and have a male love interest.........?
- fake donna and fake 14 were so creepy like I stg right as fake 14 showed up to the way it was shot made me feel weird bc it just wasn't showing him and I was like well show him then and then it did and I was like oh he's normal okay but then it went down hill fr dt was v creepy
- the long ass arms and stuff was simultaneously unserious and creepy as fuck
- flux and timeless child mention ahhhhh I kinda am obsessed with it and I really hope it's a sign that rtd is gonna explore it a bit more (which based on xmas special info he seemingly is). I love the way it ended with 13 but there's defo room there to explore more about how the doctor really feels about it all and accepting it. bc it's one thing to decide you don't want the memories but it's another to actually come to terms with it all
- the vibes were kinda midnight-y, like monsters impersonating and tryna copy someone and replace them yknow
- wilf <333333
- I'm writing this up right after it ended and I haven't looked at what other ppl thought and I didn't type up my thoughts as I was watching so I probs forgot a ton of stuff that I had opinions on but anyways. I cheered
rewatch
- ppl getting mad that isaac newton isn't white is so predictable like omg I couldn't imagine giving a fuck. that scene is defo cringe tho but it's fine. I like the 'have you got the controls set to famous' line
- the tardis playing that song is so funny like she looooves the drama tbh
- I hope the mavity thing continues for a long time but I don't want it to get mentioned every episode bc that'll get old very quick
- 14 acknowledging that newton was hot and then being like 'is that was I do now' is defo a him being like oh do I notice attractiveness and be open about it now situation and not an oh am I gay now situation bc the doctor has BEEN fancying men. and it fits with the moments from the star beast where he says he loves people and is like oh do I say that now
- the let's go and kick it's ass line, and the way it's shot idk, is not very good
- seeing the outside of the ship was sooo weat/tdf vibes
- the doctor joking around with donna about dying is my fave I miss the doctor being like this fr (that's NOT a chib diss)
- the timeless child and flux mentions and the doctor finally being open with someone but then it ends up not actually being donna oh I'm gonna lose my whole mind I'm so obsessed with that scene and then meanwhile donna figures out she's with the fake doctor like the genius she is
- and THEN the doctor's little tantrum that I and most others was clowning on before the ep came out but actually it ends up being kinda harrowing liiiiike woah
- obsessed with the scene where they're separated by the glass wall
- fake donna in the tardis and real donna stuck out there.. ctate actor of all time
- I really did think for a second that donna was gonna die on first watch and how wild would that have been especially if the doctor didn't end up noticing fake donna and we were stuck with her for the giggle. probably woulda been a nightmare tbh so I'm glad it didn't happen but also idk
- donna saying the doctor timed getting back to avoid the awkward convo makes me think of all the times chib had shit happen to avoid having the doctor and (usually) yaz complete a convo, it used to drive me crazy it was so annoying
- wilf <33333
- I kinda wish we saw the toymaker in the background during all that drama that was going on at the end

Me when I see an unhinged reddit post from one of *those* Kaz stans: Jin get behind me!!!!! Seriously though. Sometimes I think we all play/read/watch Tekken content differently bc what on earth are they on? Lmao. Not saying they are all like that, but still.
LOL. I deleted those posts 'cos I felt like I was ranting a lil too much, maybe getting too worked up. But the thing is, I wouldn't even care about these takes. Because everyone has a different take, and sometimes there are people with bad ones. But the problem is, the "Kazuya did nothing wrong and is being villainized only because he opposes Heihachi and Jin" is a POPULAR take. Not only do I see it more than I should, but the fact that I go to the comments and see a(n un)healthy amount of people agreeing with the take is just... so wild. I really feel like sometimes I am transported to an alternate reality where Tekken is totally different.
I really just thought we'd... stop getting these takes after the demo. Because yeah, while it didn't help Jin's character that much, but... Kazuya is literally threatening genocide, boasting about how for "as long as he lives, people will die" and also tried to kill innocent people in the middle of the street. I thought that would make people realize Kazuya is indeed a full blown villain who has done a lot wrong. But no... strangely it has not. It's just so bewildering to me.
Again, it's okay to dislike Jin. I understand it. He got done dirty in Tek6, and they're not doing the greatest job at writing him. But I just can't stand it when people put him down for things Kazuya is doing, or when Kazuya is arguably worse than Tek6 Jin. You can't hate Jin for [doing war crimes] and feeling remorse, but then acting like Kazuya is better despite [doing more war crimes] with zero remorse. It's just a bizarre mindset.
Also, to the point where they're reaching and actually hating Jin for crashing Kazuya's helicopter and destroying buildings?? They're actually saying Jin is killing hundreds and that proves he isn't a good person. Like are they being serious? In both Avengers and Superman (Man of Steel) - scenes like this happen. Where the superpowered heroes are fighting the superpowered villains and buildings are just wrecked left and right, cars are tossed around like they're softballs. But nobody in those movies ever bring up the casualties caused by the heroes, how many lives were lost because of the heroes. Nobody calls Captain America a careless villain. You know why? Because these are FICTIONAL ACTION SERIES. Yes, realistically, in real life, destroying big buildings and blowing up things would kill hundreds. But real life is boring. When you're watching an action game or movie, you want to see lots of action - action includes destruction. You don't wanna see the characters carefully fight in the streets, that slows the action down. That's why heroes can get away with destroying stuff, because it's entertaining to watch. The people in the building don't actually exist, they're not even seen, so we don't have to actually acknowledge them. And I get joking about this - but there are fans that are legit villainizing Jin for this. Like people are talking about this rather than Kazuya literally saying he's gonna wipe out countries lmao.
I guess I just get really tired of the hate Jin receives. Whilst I understand Tek6 will cause people to dislike Jin - but it's unfair to hate him but then act like Kazuya is good despite doing the same actions as Jin (if not worse actions). It's unfair when they hate Jin for being "emo" and saying he's annoying because... he hates the devil gene??? Go figure. And then the weird homophobic hate against him he gets sometimes? (Like there are a weird amount of ppl that calls him slurs) It really just feels like a lot of ppl just pick any reason to hate this character. Jin tries to do good, fans hate him for wanting to kill Kaz and not accepting the devil gene (lolwhut) Jin does bad like in Tek6, suddenly he's the worst character who's irredeemable but the other bad guys are totally redeemable (or not even bad at al!)

Anyway, I’ve talked a lot about Tommy without talking about Him, so let’s do that.
I was expecting Tubbo to be part of his group, but having him be there as just Tomys friend is so funny. It’s also adorable. (And it probably says a thing or two about how stubborn Tomys is, since he probably refused to go without him). Their dynamic very much gives “Your majesty, this is my emotional support best friend”.
Having Jack as a guard is giving me Stars flashbacks. Probably as intended. It’s funny that he is now Tomys guard instead of Wilbur’s. I was not expecting Puffy, but I probably should have. She’s there to make sure Tomys behaves, but she still has a lot of work to do about the etiquette. She also gives me the vibes of someone who deserves a raise.
Side note: did Niki or Quackity come with extra entourage? Like Niki was a baby, but Quackity was similar in age. Or is this unusual? (Also, I love the throne and crown, I’m sure that doesn’t have any ominous relation to certain tags on this fic)
Anyway, Tomys first impression reflects very badly on Sam. As we learn in chapter 3, everyone figures out why Tomys is there. And he’s clearly a bad first choice as a heir. (As in, if Sam were to die right now, Tomys would do terribly compared to Niki or Quackity).
He comes off as just a kid, which he is, but that’s not something you can be in this situation. None of the other kids got to have a normal childhood. On top of that Tomys is kinda a little brat, for a noble child at least, and not in the way those kids are normally brats.
But Sam seems rather fond of him. He’s very patient with him and all his blunders. I think he’s a kind king, but *looks at chapter 3* he’s not the brightest. It becomes very clear, very quickly that Sam did not think this true at all.
Like part of his decision process is wanting to decide something for himself because he’s self aware enough to know Phil is pulling the strings, but not smart enough to actually do it himself. So he brings Tomys and is all secretive, but then he didn’t talk it through with anyone and missed so many implications because he’s just living in his own world. But then he doubles down which is incredibly childish, but he wanted to make a desicion for himself and refuses to acknowledge that it’s backfireing (which is a very worrisome quality to have in a King).
Though I think some of it might just also be actually indecisiveness and wanting to buy himself more time to chose because he clearly doesn’t know who to pick based on how he asked Schlatt. He’s just digging himself a bigger hole and I’m scared he’ll double down further and will pick Tomys in the future just because Phil doesn’t want him to (can you tell I do not like Sam? Very good writing job on that, btw).
(2/?)

no literally I was trying to figure out a position for tubbo that wasn't 'personal servant' just bc I didn't feel like doing that for this fic, and when I couldn't come up with anything I was like "...it's clingyduo tubbo would come just as his emotional support bestie" and then I thought back to how in historical movies you always hear about nobles having their ladies in waiting/companions/friends showing up with them everywhere like an entourage and I was like huh that would work
lol yeah after stars I'm a bit of a sucker for writing jack manifold as a guard again. he's just so good in that type of role, although I'd say he's going to have a smaller role here than he had in stars (though who knows I also didn't think stars!jack would play a very big role and look how that turned out). and of course tommy needed an adult chaperone so I thought of puffy. she's so tired of this shit.
yes, niki and quackity both came with entourages of their own although I'm not going to mention them bc I can't think of characters they'd be and I don't like throwing ocs into my fics for more than just a few lines here and there. except since niki was brought to the palace so young she essentially came just with her nanny and some guards, and when she was eventually given ladies in waiting they were provided by the palace not by summerdam. quackity was a little older so he showed up with a tutor, guards, and probably a private servant. still working out details on backstory stuff you know how it goes
yeahhh the thing is tommy's immaturity is pretty prevalent right off the bat, and while he's not overly bratty by noble kid standards, by potential future heir to the kingdom standards he's terrible. and it says something about sam's ideas towards leadership that he only just met the kid and has a bit of a soft spot towards him, because he doesn't know tommy. not at all. but he thinks he does.
i'm glad you don't like sam. he's meant to be a very messy character in rose. someone who so clearly wants to be good at this game he's playing but is just so blatantly not which causes problems for everyone else around him

hello :) i saw your posts about lu and idk if you were gauging interest in people hearing your opinions. personally i would be super interested in reading what specifically about every lu character is ooc! i am similarly frustrated with the current dominance of lu characterizations in fandom as a ww fan. ive been following for a while i just logged into this side account because i am scared to ask on main :( i hope you do not mind the somewhat bare blog. thank you!
oh my god oh my god oh my god someone wants my opinion??? do u wanna make out???? u do not understand the power u r giving me rn u do not understand how annoying and nitpicky and very passionate i can get specifically about lu bc i care so much about link its unreal and also bc i just like things like linkedmaze, dimensional links, and minaslinkverse better characterization wise bc to me they have shown the "found family links meeting up" thing a lotttt better than lu when i still read it
but to be fair i STOPPED reading around the part where four split due to the way the lu community reacting to the person with DID, a very stigmatized disorder who genuinely just wanted Jojo to acknowledge they messed up in the past and present and didnt like the vauge ass apology she gave making me actually disgusted. ppl talk about accountability then rallied against 1 tumblr user who was uncomfortable bc ppl liked Jojo's comic so she doesnt have to explain that now she respects nonbinary ppl and understands how past things were wrong for her to say we just infer this bc lu good :/ like hey maybe Jojo owned up to it afterwards or something bc she made 2 apologies that would make a YouTuber blush so i was done w/ the community and it was only rlly after that and after i played a few of the actual games + read some mangas i realized wow actually i do not like lu as much as i thoguht i did they butchered my boy, also i feel i should say it literally wouldnt matter to me do what u want in ur au but lu is now a fandom of its own and its influenced a lot of other aus and interpretations of link so i do take issue w/ how ooc these guys end up being
OK HERE R THE MOST BASIC ISSUES W/OUT GETTING INTO EACH LINK RN:
for one i dont know for me having link as a secret hoarder who would rather DIE than use the full scope of his abilities around OTHER HEROS is just no bc thats fucking stupid levels of wanting to appear normal around OTHER HEROS possiblly the ONLY other ppl to ever understand what u r going through
for me having every single link act like a frat boy/standard teenage white boy who is emotionally constipated is a no??? have u SEEN link he is so sociable and kind and understanding to other ppl WHY r the links like this, so many fics just...make them stew in their issues for angst and not trust the others and be incredibly insecure about the other heros(which is lu canon for at least hyrule and wind i think?) and like ok that is definitely fine for 1 link but why r they all like this in the games link is clearly not like that he wouldn't be this closed off and wouldn't hesitate so much like my dude he just inserts himself into other ppl's lives to make them better than leaves he wouldn't pussyfoot around other heros like what
also another major issue is the mergings just lead to certain characterizations or important backstory for certain links(FOUR. LEGEND.) being completely erased and the nuance of their journeys lost like when u merge links who r canonically 100s of years apart not just in the timeline but in the GAMES? yeah u lose things that make that link special
also bc u mentioned wind waker i found it kinda fucked up that wind waker link was delegated to The Kid TM even tho his entire journey was about moving on from the past to a brighter future and he took on the mantle left behind by the hero of time on his own volition and did what Time COULDN'T do which is kill Ganon but he is constantly underestimated and made into the Kid Who Wants Approval trope specifically around Time which sucks ass ngl he deserves to be an equal him still being a kid while the others got to grow up, including Four who's first journey arguably would have been a better fit for this archtype of wide eyed kid, is just side lining one of the most interesting links especially considering most of the other links were YOUNGER than him when they started
this is all general stuff plus 1 of my issues w/ Wind bc ur a Wind Waker fan bc as a Spirit Track fan i feel a kinship, im gonna make another post for specifically each link breaking down my issues w/ how they r portrayed later bc rn it is 8am and i ment to just say haha ty for the permission but then my inner ranter came out i am INCAPABLE of being normal about lu especially after i actually experienced zelda games bc lu was my FIRST introduction to zelda outside of smash bros lol
toast if u r reading this say rip to ur dms bc i am once more gonna talk to u about a comic for a videogame franchise u only know about due to my rambles and forcing u at gunpoint to learn about link...godspeed comrade

mikalight for that ask game :3...
YEEEEAAAAHHHHHH
001 | send me a ship and I will tell you:
when I started shipping it if I did:
Literally instantaneously. Like as soon as I saw them like even thinking about each other for the first time before they ever interacted I was hooked.
my thoughts:
MY THOUGHTS. UMMMMMM. They made a ship based on some of my very favorite dynamics just for me. That was nice of them. I literally am so incoherent about their insane and wildly unhealthy relationship because of how much I want to chew on it. I think it's definitely bittersweet bc of how much room there is for like unrequited shit, emotional abuse, generally terrible vibes, but there's also room for them to be having insanely good sex about it and for Light to be worshipped via Mikami kneeling in penitence for the sins of the world that he has failed to curb sooooo you know you win some you lose some.
What makes me happy about them:
I am very happy about the fact that they are having deranged worship kink sex. That's my #1. But I also think they come to understand each other very well, even if their relationship is a disaster. They have a lot in common and operate in largely similar ways and I love that for them.
What makes me sad about them:
I think the imbalance in their relationship is incredibly depressing but I would never want to change it because it's very fun for Me, Isa. But it is definitely a saddening situation. A mess. You're in love with the person you worship and that person regards you as, what — almost an intellectual equal, a devout servant, an excellent fuck, but not really a person. Enjoy.
things done in fanfic that annoys me:
Oh my fucking G-d what DOESN'T annoy me about 99% of Mikalight fanfiction. The Mikalight tag on AO3 is a fucking disaster. I will say I hate when Mikami is portrayed as like, either a creep inflicting himself on Light OR an entirely brainless slave to Kira, and both are very fucking common. I also really hate fluffy stuff for them most of the time unless it's like threaded between scenes of total relational dysfunction but that's my own deal.
things I look for in fanfic:
Worship kink stuff done WELL. Mikami characterization that makes him act like a person. Mikami having a sense of religiosity that is rooted in Shinto practices rather than Christianity. <- This one is HUGE. Acknowledgement of the fact that Mikami is clinically psychotic and likely has schizophrenia or a similar disorder that's not ableist and 2edgy like so much fic about psychosis is. Sorry those last two are just expansions on the second one but they're important to ME.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
Mikami is about to be SUPER ALONE and obviously I'd want Light to end up with L. If L is dead Light is going to "end up" with Misa and cheat on her like crazy with men, which is fine. I really struggle to see Mikami entering a long-term emotionally committed relationship with somebody else.
My happily ever after for them:
I don't know that I have one! Mikami hopes to someday be elevated to Light's level by his grace and Light wants a devoted acolyte, so there's a goal and emotional desire there that's unreciprocated and hard to get around. I think it ends badly. However I do also love to imagine them curled up on the couch watching Saw II like it's a comfort movie. So that's something they might always have even if they break up or kill each other or die.
who is the big spoon/little spoon:
Mikami is the big spoon most of the time whether he wants to be or not. However I don't think Light is above big spoon behavior. I think he kind of gets a kick out of wrapping his arms around somebody (this guy in particular because he's cut as fuck, hiiiiii) and being weirdly possessive of them in their sleep.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity:
Killing people.
