Bo

She had bad legs, bad breath, bad kidneys. She couldn’t get around too good, and that limited walks in the park and hopping in my truck. Just a whole mess of things.

But she had me. And now there is a hole in my heart the size of her paw.

I will never get another dog as good as her. She was a mutt Jordan. The GOAT.

She commanded the room when she went in one. Demanded every person in there to pet her. One time after boarding her for the weekend, every person at the Vet waved at her goodbye. We walked out in the parking lot, and two construction workers yelled “ bye Bo”. She was that big of a personality.

She taught my other dog a few things. How to charge the fence when someone walks down our sidewalk. How to beg for a treat as soon as you come in from outside, because they owe you one for doing all that protecting. Taught her that as soon as you hear the words “Feeders Supply” or “Get in the truck”, it meant you were getting out. Even if it was just for a ride to slobber all over my exceptionally clean truck, it was special.

But she never taught her how to hug really good. That was for her and me. She was the bestest hugger. The bestest.

She passed away Friday.

Just this week I talked about the happiest and saddest thing I draw. Peoples dogs that have passed. Then this.

I know how they feel now.

When I go, I hope every dog I have ever had runs to meet me. I hope they cover me in slobber and kisses. But I hope that Bo is first in line. She deserves it. I do too.
