I was wondering if you have any Chrisker or XLeon fanfic recs? Or any other special ship fic recs you really like to share! Looking for something new to consume instead of sleeping.

Hi! Thank you for the well wishes and the ask. I am so sorry it took a while for me to respond. I wanted to add little summaries to the recommendations so you can jump straight into the ones that might interest you.

XLeon

Luckily XLeon is such a small ship that it's pretty easy to recommend fics.

Windows to the Soul is a really lovely fic, probably the one that got me into the ship. It follows a good portion of the RE2 remake story quite closely, but with the twist that Mr. X is trying to win over Leon even though Leon fears for his life for a good portion of it lol.

Captivated is a cute AU fic where Leon's father is an Umbrella researcher who has our favorite tyrant act as Leon's bodyguard (much to Leon's dismay) while the lead up to RE1 events happen in the background.

Blind Man's Gamble is a very sweet fic about Leon accidentally getting chemically blinded while searching for supplies in the RPD and Mr. X finds him and takes it upon himself to help the very perplexed officer. This author also has a lot of other very sweet fics about XLeon, so I definitely recommend them too if you enjoy softer stories about the ship.

Chrisker

I have so many Chrisker fics I enjoy that it's hard to know what to recommend, especially since my tastes for that ship tend to be smutty and dark. However, I will start with a couple of nicer(?) ones and go towards dark at the end of the list.

The Endless Realities A sweet series of oneshots about Chris and Wesker being in love in different AUs/canon divergent plots.

A God Needs Worship If you enjoy long fics, this one is for you. It's mostly about Chris and Wesker's evolving relationship leading up to the events of RE1 (and will be getting into the events of the game itself). It's actually some very good slice-of-life showing their S.T.A.R.S. work, Wesker's relationship with Umbrella and relationships with colleagues/friends/family/enemies. All around a very good fic with a lovely balance of plot/romance/character growth/etc.

Love Crime A really sweet fic where Chris offers to take Barry's place as Wesker's pawn in betraying S.T.A.R.S. The ending was a surprise, but I enjoyed it all very thoroughly.

The Courting This is pretty different from most of the Chrisker fics I read. It's an Incredibly funny fic where S.T.A.R.S. era Chris tries to flirt with Wesker by pranking him and Wesker usually gets sweet revenge. I also thoroughly enjoyed the next part (Encounters) of the series, but it is very smutty. I am not done with the series of fics that that this is attached to, but the parts I have read have been incredibly enjoyable. However, the series as a whole is not comedy and contains some dark and/or sad moments.

Mistakes Chris comes on to Wesker, Wesker falls for Chris (much to his dismay). Wesker tries to stay in control of everything despite probably not being very in control at all and begins to plot Umbrella's downfall so he can keep Chris at his side.

Sins of the Flesh is a beautiful fic where Wesker resurrects Chris after killing him some years prior in a need for proper revenge, but keeps Chris alive after realizing that Chris cannot remember his own death or his antagonistic relationship with Wesker. This fic is very dreamy and sad, be prepared to cry. I also recommend the author's fics The Hound and Manifest Retribution, but they are very sexually charged and not exactly in a nice way.

Happy Adversary, Christopher A very funny Valentine's Day fic (by the same author as the previous fic rec) where Wesker forces a date on Chris after kidnapping him. It's actually quite sweet.

Ten-Million-Dollar Mutt MIND THE TAGS PLEASE. A gift to me! (and another one by the same author as the previous two) Wesker buys Chris in an auction after Chris has been virally enhanced to have doglike characteristics. Incredibly smutty with VERY hardcore kinks (some were quite the surprise to me too, but San is very good at making them palatable). However if you can handle it, it's actually quite a funny (and sexy) read that starts to veer towards being sweet in some of the newest chapters. A surprising amount of character growth on Wesker's part imo.

Can and Will Be Held Against You. This story sometimes makes my brain feel like it's melting (and I do mean this in a good way). Wesker is very manipulative with Chris and molds him into his perfect pet. It's a disturbing co-dependent relationship that doesn't exactly feel like love. However, there is a very cathartic moment where Wesker gets what he deserves. Interesting story all around.

I could probably go on, but I think this is enough for now ^^; so sorry to throw so many at you, but hopefully there are a few you enjoy! Also you have probably long fallen asleep by now, but perhaps some of these will be good bedtime stories for other nights.

All About You

Being set up on a blind date by your friends was the last thing you wanted to do this year, you didn’t know what to wear or how to even act you haven’t been on a date with a man since what seemed like forever ago.

“You’re going to be fine besides he’s someone you already know.” Your friend Erica was trying her best to ease your nerves. “Someone I know? That just makes this all even worse.” You huffed.

“Will you relax I promise you’re going to have the time of your life.” Your other friend Ella said. “But you both need to seriously stop setting me up with people we know.”

Your last date was with one of your close friends and it didn’t really go all that well. “What? I thought the date with Marcus went good?” Ella asked you to which you stopped what you were doing and gave her the most irritated expression.

“Are you kidding me? He knew he was going out with me and didn’t bring his wallet because he claimed he’d cover us next time.” Ella covered her mouth to stop herself from laughing in your face meanwhile Erica felt pitty on you.

“I promise this dude he’s sweet, funny, charming.” Ella tried her best to describe Jack and although he was all of things she mentioned he was also a flirt and loved flirting not to mention the two of you connected well but there was this unresolved ‘beef’ there.

You just hated how unserious he was no matter how serious the situation was Jack somehow always found a way to make a joke out of it and you hated that and he hated how serious you were.

While you were getting ready Jack was back home getting ready with Druski and Urban and the rest of the guys. “Who did you set me up with this time.” Jack asked Urban.

“It’s a secret but I’m sure you’ll love who we picked.” Urban smirked. “Why are you smirking? Did you both set me up.” Druski laughed. “I promise it’ll just be a date to remember that’s all.”

Even though the two of you bickered like cats and dogs and didn’t really see each other’s opinions you both liked each other but just didn’t know how to act on those emotions which is why your friends felt that they needed to bring it upon themselves to act on those emotions for you.

“When is the date?” Druski looked down at his phone seeing Jack had to be out the door in 5 minutes. “Actually right now so let’s go.”

Jack was actually very nervous about going on a blind date he hasn’t been on an actual date ever since he became famous he didn’t know how to act or how to feel, having one on one time with someone he knew for however long was also nerve wracking, he wanted everything to just go good.

You arrived before Jack so you had time to look over the menu and pick out the cheapest item just in case you had to pay.

Ella and Erica along with Druski and Urban were a few tables behind Jack and You they wanted to spy on your little date and see how everything was going to go down.

You looked down at your phone seeing that Jack was 10 minutes late already. “Great let me find out I just got stood up.” You mumbled.

“Y/N? Don’t tell me you’re my date.” You looked up seeing Jack. “Oh you’re fucking joking this is a joke right? Are you on some type of prank show or something is there a mic hooked on you.” Jack smirked and laughed before sitting down across from you.

“Well I was told my date was going to be wearing black heels and.” He pushed his chair back and looked under the table seeing you had on black heels. “You have on black heels and you’re sitting outside where I was told my date would be sitting.”

“Why are you here?” You groaned. “Because I was put on a blind date.. why are you here?” He joked. “Jack you know why I’m here I was put on a blind date I knew it was going to be with a friend but I didn’t think the friend was going to be you.”

“What’s wrong with me? I can be the man of your dreams.” He grinned and leaned back into his chair with his arms opened wide as if he was the greatest person on earth. “Please I’d rather go on a date with the biggest asshole on earth than date you.”

You looked down at the menu skimming it over again Jack frowned he knew you didn’t wanna be here but he was going to try his best to make sure you have the best time.

“Look put the menu down for a minute.” You put it down on the table and looked back up at him. “If you have a good time tonight you let me take you out on a proper date that isn’t set up and if you don’t have a good time then you don’t have to see me ever again.”

You gasped sarcastically. “Wait you mean it? We never have to be in the same room together ever again?!” He rolled his eyes at the sarcasm dripping from your voice. “Do we have a deal or not?” You thought about it for a second. “We have a deal.”

Surprisingly you had a great time with Jack you found out a lot about him and he found out all about you, you even got to see a different side of Jack a side he never really showed.

“So what was your thought process behind making Jackman?”

Jack played you a few songs from his upcoming album Jackman he was a bit nervous on how everyone was going to react since it was something completely different than what he put out not even a year ago.

“Honestly I knew I wanted to put out something raw.. something different and just get back to my roots come home the kids miss you was a great album but it’s what the media and everyone wanted to hear it wasn’t me it wasn’t Jackman.” He joked.

“I loved the songs you played for me I think you just might have album of the year with this one.” He chuckled. “I really hope so.” It was quiet for a few minutes the two of you just enjoying one another’s company.

As you looked around Jack couldn’t help but to admire you. You were absolutely perfect he loved the way your eyes shimmered under the moonlight and how plump and kissable your lips looked, the small smile that played on your lips as you watched an owner get dragged along by his excitement filled dog.

“You know I can feel you watching me Jack.” He blushed in embarrassment. “I’m sorry you’re just so beautiful.” He covered his mouth quickly when he realized he said that out loud.

You looked at him wide eyed, “Did you just call me beautiful?” He mentally groaned. “Shit that wasn’t supposed to come out my mouth but it did and dammit I’m sorry.” He apologized.

“It’s okay don’t apologize. I actually think you’re really cute too.” You looked down nervously and twiddled with your fingers. “You think I’m cute?” He smirked.

“Don’t go getting a big head now Jack but yes I think you’re cute.” “How long?” He asked.

You looked at him with your eyebrows furrowed together. “How long what?” “How long have you liked me?”

“What who said tha-.” He cut you off. “I know you like me Y/N, I catch you looking at me all the time and you know Ella sucks at keeping secrets.” You groaned and made a mental note to yell at Ella later.

“I’d say for a few months now I’ve just been scared to tell you.” He frowned.

“Why?”

“Because I just didn’t know if I actually liked you at first because you just always acted so immature but after tonight I guess my feelings for you became stronger or whatever look can we just forget about it.” You we’re beyond embarrassed now.

“What if I don’t want to forget about it what if I wanted to be more than friends?”

“I’d be really happy.” You shyly spoke and watched how Jack made his way to sit next to you. “You would huh?” He softly spoke and leaned into you. You nodded your head you couldn’t even find the words to speak.

“Use your words Y/N.” You looked at him his blue eyes were honestly putting you in a trance right now you’ve never been as nervous and jittery around a man before. “Yes I would Jack I’d love to be your girlfriend.”

Before you knew it he was closing the gap between the two of you and smashing his lips against yours you wasted no time and immediately kissed him back. He grabbed the back of your head and deepened the kiss he wanted more of you but you were in a public setting so he had to pull back.

“Damn it’s about fucking time.” Druski’s voice came from behind the two of you which startled you. “What? What are you all doing here.” Jack asked.

“We set this whole thing up.” Erica said. “What do you mean?”

“Well we knew the two of you liked each other but you’re both so stubborn that we knew you weren’t going to admit it to each other so we set this up.” Ella said.

“It’s a good thing we broke it up when we did I swear there was about to a porno at this restaurant.” Urban joked and you hid in Jack’s chest making the girls coo.

“Whatever Urban now if you all don’t mind I’m going to take my girl back to my place, Urban you might wanna spend the night with Druski.” Jack said and took your head and led the two of you out of the restaurant.

“So I guess I’m staying with you tonight?” Urban asked Druski. “Staying with who? I got plans with Erica you better hit up Maggie and ask to stay in Jack’s old room.”

summary: you've always been the type to enjoy pulling a good prank. unfortunately, your newest idea gets you caught and in major trouble. what happens when your dad (and the avengers) find out?

When Tony got the text message that you needed to be picked up from school, he freaked out. His brain ran through so many scenarios so fast it made him dizzy; what if you’d gotten in a fight? What if you started a fight? What if you and Peter messed up big time?

He shook his head to clear his mind, and ran down to the garage.

“Everything alright, Boss?” Happy asked, eyebrows knitted together. Tony just nodded, and slipped into his car. The fifteen minute ride to your school was filled with worry from him, the foot that wasn’t pressing on the gas pedal bouncing up and down repeatedly. He told himself to breathe; you didn’t need your dad to walk into the office panicking like a mad man.

He pulled into the parking space as quickly as possible, rushing to the all too familiar Principal’s office. “Hi, I’m here for Y/N Stark?,” he told the receptionist. She seemed to forget how to use words when she motioned him to the back. A blush rose on her face as he left, and if it were any other time Tony would have flirted with her just to embarrass you.

The air in the office was tense, and you sat in one of the seats with a blush on your face. You looked up to see your dad’s relieved expression that quickly turned into one of frustration when he realized you weren't hurt.

“Good afternoon, Mr.Stark. I’m sorry to pull you out of whatever..business you were dealing with, but Y/N pulled something we just can’t ignore.”

“It’s perfectly fine, sir. What did she do?” he asked him, his eyes narrowing at you across the table.

“I don’t think there is a delicate way to put this, Mr.Stark, so I’m just going to lay it all out for you. Miss Stark was caught on video supergluing what seems to be a massive..sex toy,” she muttered under her breath,”with one Peter Parker. His guardian has already been made aware of this and appropriate action has been taken. ”

Tony was, for once, speechless. He looked at you, the Principal, and back at you a few times. You could feel your ears begin to turn red as the silence got longer and longer, doing your best not to burst out laughing as it would only make the situation worse. His jaw was wide open, and he finally snapped back to reality when you reached across the table to shut it for him.

“What the absolute hell?” He yelled, forgetting where you both were for a second. You blushed even harder, hiding a snicker behind your sleeve despite your dad’s very obvious anger.

“I have somewhere to be, but I hope you have a good day. Please send me an email with the information about what you’re going to do with her. I assure you this will be taken care of,” he rambled gruffly, grabbing your arm and dragging you out of the office quickly.

On your way out, you passed the foyer. Despite your best efforts, Tony peered through the blinds to get a look at the “issue.” It was big enough to be seen from the office, and this just seemed to piss your dad off more. He averted his eyes quickly. His jaw was clenched so hard, you contemplated sticking your ring between his teeth as a joke, but decided against it knowing it would only make the situation worse.

The drive home was tense. His fist was tightly wrapped around the gearshift, only taking his eyes off the road to throw a glare or two at you. The minute you arrived at the tower, he grabbed your arm once again and took you to the personal floor.

“What were you thinking?! You could have jeopardized your education! Do you realize what this will look like to colleges?!”

For some reason, you giggled a little bit, and the giggle turned into a laughing fit. Tony quickly joined you, laughing so hard tears were coming out of both of your eyes.

“I can’t even pretend it’s not funny anymore,” he wheezed, bending over and dramatically falling to the floor.

“You know what makes it even funnier?” you giggled, looking your dad in the eyes. “That wasn’t even the only one!” you shrieked, putting your head between your knees as you cackled.

This only caused you both to laugh harder, clutching your stomachs like your lives depended on it. It took about five minutes for you both to sober up from the laughing ordeal, and an extra 5 for Tony to put his serious dad face back on.

“I have to admit it was a really good prank,” he smiled at you. “Even though it was fuckin’ hilarious, you’re still in hot water. I’m going to let you go without punishment this time, little miss, but if it happens again there will be actual consequences. Okay, sweetheart?”

You nodded your head in agreement, already bounding up the stairs to tell Pepper what happened.

“TONY!” She yelled downstairs, and he braced himself for the unavoidable lecture. In his opinion, though, it was worth it.

The team was in the main living room, gathered around a few files dealing with some “official business.” Amidst the normal files, there was one that stood out. It was titled “The School Incident.”

Even though they knew they shouldn’t be snooping, their curiosity outweighed their morals, and they clicked on the file.

In it was security footage from your school, detailing the exact moment the prank was pulled. Everyone sat around the table in shock, silence filling the room as they processed what they’d just seen. Apparently, you’d decided that this was the exact moment to walk in, and the Avengers all stared at you when you made your entrance. Dropping your backpack at the door heavily, you flopped down on the couch exasperatedly.

“Y’all. I had such a weird day, this guy named- Why is everyone looking like they just saw a ghost?” you asked, confusion spelled out on your face. Your eyes focused next on what the team had pulled up on the screen, and realization flashed in your eyes as you jumped up and ran out of the room. You didn’t even bother trying to explain. The Avengers burst out into laughter as they followed you out of the room, the ruckus so loud it Peter could probably hear it in Queens. You had no choice but to run, and run you did.

No saw this happening in a million years. Soap and ghost splitting up? What kind of timeline were they living in?

Soap loved ghost dearly, nothing could separate them. They were the best partners in crime in all of history.

But when you were introduced to 141.. it all changed. Soap now had eyes for you, you were.. perfect.

You were everything he had ever imagined, from your hair to your thighs. He just found you perfect in every way.

Ghost was a bit slow to realize it, after being dumped with mass amounts of affection after being in a family that never gave you anything.

It takes time for you to really take it in. In the mean time while ghost was horribly blinded by love.

Soap had been sneaking around just to see you, the two of you hit it off. You two both shared interests that him and ghost would never be able to talk about.

Gaz was the first to realize soap’s actions, he grew more resentful towards soap and kept his distance to a maximum. But soap didn’t care, you were with him so why would he ever stress about loosing a friend over a man he would spend the rest of his life?

A knock was heard on ghost’s door, the man looked up from his phone and sighed. Getting up from his creaky bed, he opened the door to see Kyle.

“Lieutenant.. I really have something to tell you..” ghost quirked a brow, Garrick? Calling him lieutenant? Gosh this must be really important.

Ghost grew wary of gaz, him and soap were big pranksters and sadly he was always the victim. Come to think of it, Gaz and soap hadn’t pranked him in about 5 months.

Ghost then furrowed his eyebrows at that thought, “ok.. come in” Kyle said a quick thank you and walked in.

Ghost followed behind him, “I.. I think you should sit down for this one” ghost hummed and walked to his bed, sitting on the edge waiting for whatever Gaz had in store for him.

“So.. long story short, soap is cheating on you, and I know that you don’t believe me but just look” gaz handed ghost his phone with his photos open.

There, was a shit ton of pictures and videos of soap flirting with you along with taking you two to secluded areas.

Ghost absolutely couldn’t believe his eyes, Soap..? His Johnny??? Cheating on him???

No this just couldn’t be.. could this be a dream?? It was too surreal to be a dream. Ghost was on a verge of having the most worst break down and excused gaz out of his room.

Where he cried, for hours and hours on end. The tears just couldn’t stop for him, the man he thought was the love of his life.. was getting rid of him like this..??

Couldn’t he been more civilized and told him straight up that he didn’t love him? Ghost’s mind ran in circles rapidly, making him dizzy.

He just.. he just couldn’t do it

A few days later ghost retired from 141 and the army all together. He couldn’t help but just feel so empty.

So what was his answer for this?

Smoking and drinking

Every night a cigarette would be lit or a bottle of beer would be opened, it was the only way he could stop the emptiness inside him.

Elias' Bookshelf Thoughts No. 12: Tricks for a Heart

So I managed to finish a book before the year ends, and it's a good one.

I'm no stranger o queer romance; I've read enough to know what to expect. But this one, from an internet friend of mine, Izzat Zainal, takes that usual queer romance love story we see a lot in YA and put it in general fiction, or adult fiction, or just non-YA fiction. I'm not really sure how to put it.

Anyway.

MC is one Adam Iman, a plus-sized queer guy living in my/our conservative country. After a school reunion, a fellow high school friend (the jock we know as Luqman a.k.a. Minho) starts to flirt with him in a non-straight way. He finds this weird, since they've known each other in high school, and he gives off no gay vibes. Hence Adam felt this must be a prank of some sorts. Well, think again, my good man. Think again.

**SPOILERS**

I want to use the word 'fresh', but it does feel like a typical queer romance story. Boy likes boy, one boy wasn't sure but goes with it anyway, they fall in love but won't say it, then something bad happens, they break up and separate for a while, and eventually end up together in one big dramatic and romantic end sequence. What's not typical is the characters, the setting, and the vulnerability presented by the characters.

Adam is plus-sized, and think he's underserving of proper romantic love, especially after what his ex did to him. Personally, this is extremely relatable (for I am plus-size myself and feels unloved or unable to be romantically loved. the only difference is that I feel Adam would have put himself out there, whereas I didn't. anyway). This is something I don't see in the usual queer romance books set in the western world, especially when it falls under young adult. it's never about the plus size kid, its always about the charming ones, the slim fit ones, the ones who is cute but he doesn't know it. Adam is, indeed, a character I've been longing to read about, one who I can actually say "yes I am he" and I'm so happy to be able to have that, as well for others who feel the way I do.

As for Luqman, well, he's hot. He has hair, body, face, abs. The jock we all know, love, idolise, and ride all night long (with consent) given the chance. He's secretly gay, but you won't know it cos he appears super straight. sigh i know a Luqman once.

Anyway.

So when Luq starts to slowly get into Adam's life after a high school reunion, Adam is thinking, okay, this must be a prank or a trick (i personally don't really hear locals use the word 'trick' a lot, so the overuse of that word feels like a turnoff for me). Phone calls, a meetup, and a dinner later, we get a steamy, sexy scene in chapter 11 (got me hard hm; they get hot and steamy in another two later chapters as well. i enjoyed all three scenes).

Slowly but surely, they found themselves in a situationship they're both super comfortable in, but Adam's insecurities ruined his own happy moments (something Luq pointed out to him later. also, i am he). He also kinda obviously is in deep romance with Luq but I think his past scarred him and built up walls too high for him to say 'love'. Yet clearly, he's in love, and Luqman is too.

Some parts were predictable, like how Luq eventually found out about the video (if only Adam know of Saiful's jealousy earlier on, I bet he wouldn't have said anything. Then again, sometimes it's better to keep some things private). So as soon as he found out, the storm is back between them, and it took more than a year for them to reconcile.

There's also so many moments which pointed out how sincere Luq was when it comes to his romance with Adam, but I guess that insecurity just blinded Adam so badly, I felt sorry for Luq to be putting al, that effort but to get nothing back. At some point, Adam was the problem in his own fairy tale, and I don't know if he understood that by the end of the book.

Oh, the big proposal, the big finish. It's clever, and twisty!!! I didn't expect that to happen the way it did (I saw it coming because it's like the last 50 pages or so, and something HAS to happen because WE WANT IT TO HAPPEN). Eventually, I ended in a pool of emotions when the story ended with a kiss.

The setting is another important reason why I like this. In our country, at least for me who's not exactly out yet, it's difficult to have a proper relationship with the same gender. You can't do many things, you can't be holding hands in public, and so many more. So to have a queer love story set in a country where love stories like these are on the down low, it's nice. It's very nice. In terms of vulnerability of the characters, they feel human. Even the jock can get scared and isn't afraid to be, at least, in private. He definitely wears his heart on is sleeve, and honestly, that's is the sexiest thing a man can do.

I'd have to say this is a vast improvement from Inside Out, which I have read as well. While that one felt Twilight-inspired, this one felt like it was Heartstopper-inspired, if you read between the lines.

First day of April

Little something with Matt, as always.

"Hi Matt ! Sorry, maybe you're still sleeping because you... you were busy last night, I mean, you know. Or you're already at work ! Sorry ! There, I... I was wondering if you were free next Friday... For... I thought it would be nice if we spent some time together. We could go to this little restaurant that you like, then go for a walk... Or something else ! We can also go to my place, or your place, or... But not for what you may think ! I mean, not that I'm against the idea, I... I like you very much ! That's why I'd like us to hang out. Like a date. But not a date if you don't... Oh, this is a disaster, how do you delete a message ? Well, if you're interested, tell me for Friday, and if not, pretend you've never heard any of it. Have a nice day !"

Matt had listened to the message several times, grinning like an idiot.

It had been a while since he and Y/N seemed to be turning around each other, not daring to take the first step, giggling nervously and stammering apologies as soon as their hands touched.

According to Foggy and Karen, it was both adorable and annoying. But despite all his natural charm and his years of flirting, Matt couldn't admit to his friend that he liked her. He was hoping he was hiding it badly enough and that she would say something first, it would make things easier.

His prayers seemed to have been answered, since Y/N had almost confessed in her message that she was in love with him. Well, she said she liked him. People also liked their friends, brothers and pets.

But she had used the word "Date". She had said like a date anyway.

Normally Matt wasn't one to kiss and tell, but this time, because he was a bit nervous, he decided to ask Foggy for advice to make sure he didn't make a fool of himself or scare Y/N off.

At first, his best friend was thrilled for him, jumping around the office, giving him lots of advice.

"It's been months, Matt, months ! The young lady certainly thinks highly of you, having admired your smile when we were at the bar and with all the stories I've told."

"What stories ?"

"Not important. You have to be the best ! She deserves it. So no blind jokes, even if she knows about it you don't talk about the Devil, you don't talk about your exes, you're a happy man, funny, attractive and polite."

"As always."

"Where are you going ? When ? To do what ?"

"Friday, restaurant then a walk."

"... Friday ?" asked Foggy, stopping to fidget, visibly surprised. "This Friday ? Who chose this day ? You ?"

"No, her. Why ? We have something on Friday ? I'm pretty sure we don't have a meeting, but I haven't replied to Y/N yet, I can tell her that another day would be preferable."

"... Matt. Friday. It's... the first of April."

Ah. April Fool.

He tried not to show his emotions, but he heard Foggy sigh sadly, as his face twisted into a grimace full of pain.

It was a joke ? Y/N was preparing a joke ? It wasn't very nice. It was even mean. It wasn't like her at all.

She knew Matt couldn't hear if she was lying over the phone. So he couldn't verify by listening to the message again. Yet her voice sounded sincere.

Maybe she was sincere.

Or she had absolutely not seen that Matt had feelings for her. And so she didn't realize that she was hurting him with this little prank. A simple prank between friends.

What could he do?

"I'll tell her that I can't."

"No, wait ! If you do that and she's not joking, she might think you're not interested and that would be horrible."

"I can just say I'm busy and reschedule."

"But think buddy ! Aren't you a little curious ? If it's a joke, you're prepared and you can get revenge, not meanly of course, and if it's not a joke... First date with Y/N !"

"Hmm."

Not really convinced, and even more nervous than before, Matt called Y/N to tell her he was okay. He shouldn't have talked to Foggy, it would have been easier. He would have been heartbroken, but the shock would have allowed him to hide it.

During the whole Friday, while they were together, he was unable to relax, waiting for the moment when Y/N would sneer and tell him that she had him good.

As soon as she saw him coming to the end of the street, her heart beat very fast, and Matt was too confused to determine if she was happy, or if she was excited because of her joke, or if she realized that it wasn't nice to do this to him.

"You are not eating much." she remarked with a small voice when they were at the restaurant. "Is it not good ? Aren't you hungry ? Are you sick ?"

"I'm nervous." he said honestly.

"Oh ? You ? The great Matt Murdock, protector of Hell's Kitchen, nervous ? Why ?"

"I'm always nervous when I'm with you."

He felt her heart leap, her breathing quicken and her cheeks grow hotter. Showing her openly that he liked her could be a good tactic. If she was lying, she would stop, because Y/N was too nice to hurt him like that.

And if she loved him too, that would be fine.

Matt continued to flirt and be charming for the rest of the day, while still continuing to be nervous. He was terribly afraid of the moment when they would arrive in front of her house to say goodbye.

"Well..."

"Well." he repeated, smiling awkwardly.

"Do you want to come up for a coffee ?"

"Next time, with pleasure."

""Okay."

Without thinking, he kissed her. Tenderly, placing a hand on her cheek. This relaxed him a bit. At least he would have had a kiss, if everything else was fake.

Well, not everything else, he hoped they would stay friends no matter what.

Waiting for the "April fool !" when their lips parted, Matt shivered a little, but Y/N put her arms around his neck to kiss him again.

Well, not a joke then, or else she had decided not to say anything.

Unfortunately, Matt decided to talk, because he was stupid.

"I was so scared that you invited me to prank me." He sighed, resting his forehead against hers.

"... What ?"

"I… It's April Fool's Day. I hadn't noticed until Foggy told me."

"...You thought I wanted to prank you ? By pretending to like you ? You... You agreed to come and prank me ?! You..."

"No ! No. I love you too... I mean, I like you a lot ! I know you would never do that !"

"Wait... Foggy made you think this might be a prank ?"

"He didn't actually say that, he just noticed the date."

"... Karen and him told me to take this date, because you had nothing planned. I asked them for advices. He knows very well that I had no intention of pranking you, he even said it was time for us to stop behaving like fools."

This made Matt wince.

So there had been a prank, but not from Y/N.

It was Foggy and Karen ! They had it all planned !

As he strained his ears, he spotted their hearts. Their two bad friends were hiding behind a car across the street. They ducked when he turned his head towards them.

"... Do you think he saw us ?" Karen whispered.

"He can't see anything."

"Fine. Do you think he heard us then ?"

"It's possible. Hush."

"They're so cute. Did you see how they kissed? Finally !"

"Yes, I couldn't take their nonsense anymore. Matt was very scared and now they are together, beautiful revenge and end of the torture, killing two birds with one stone."

Oh, Foggy and Karen had been smart. It was their plan, convince Y/N to invite him that day then torture Matt as he had 'tortured' them by behaving like a teenager unable to talk to his crush.

Very well. He could play too.

With a big smile, he hugged Y/N, who was really not happy to know that they had been manipulated.

"Do you want to prank them ? We could make them think you're mad at me, because I thought you lied to me."

"I'm listening."

"You could scream and cry, saying I'm horrible and you never want to see me again. You... HEY !"

The slap really surprised him. Not too violent, sparing his glasses. The slap of someone who loved him.

Y/N was a very good actress, insulting him saying that he must be ashamed to say such things and that she couldn't believe that she could think someone like him deserved to be loved !

Her heart told Matt that she obviously didn't think a word of it, as she slammed the door of her place on his face. He also heard her chuckle when she was inside.

Immediately Foggy and Karen came out of their hiding place to run towards him, asking him if he was okay and what happened.

They felt very bad, not understanding how the situation could have degenerated like this. As Karen knocked on Y/N's door, begging her to open, Foggy apologized pathetically.

"Really Matt, we thought it was going to help you, we had no idea that she would take it badly, it was totally innocent ! You two love each other so much. But what on earth could you have said to her to make her... Matt, why are you smiling ?"

"It's the shock."

"...Damn it ! She's not really mad, is she ?!"

"She slapped me !" Matt said with a fake hurt look, touching his cheek. "I had no idea you were behind this at all !"

"Lie ! You spotted us, confess ! Tell me that you and Y/N have planned everything !"

"I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm very sad, Foggy, the woman I love hates me, I'm going to go home and mope now."

"Murdock !"

For several days, Matt and Y/N continued to pretend not to talk to each other, Y/N ignoring everyone's messages, but leaving her window open for the Devil to sneak into her apartment, and quickly joining him in a coffee when Foggy and Karen were busy at the office.

They arrived holding hands when their friends were convinced that they really hated each other, feeling really bad about it. Karen screaming of joy and Foggy cried saying they were stupid, before hugging them congratulating them.

They never tried to prank Matt again.

On the other hand, Matt, with the help of Y/N, often made fun of them. They realized too late that they had created a monster.

Yamada Ichiro:

Ichiro felt something coming but he didn’t want to get his hopes up, wondering if the romance light novels he read were just too deeply embedded in his head. When you do confess he manages to keep the surprised look off his face as he returns you feelings, quite pleased that his romantic instinct remained on point.

Yamada Jiro:

Jiro is completely blind-sided. He was stuck in his own little world thinking of how he might confess but he was quite ready to do so, he still felt like your relationship was on shaky ground. He considered you a friend that he didn’t want to live without, plus it would be embarrassing to be rejected, so he’s stunned into total silence when you actually confess to him.

Yamada Saburo:

Saburo had absolutely no idea you had those types of feelings for him. He simply thought this was a friendship, and since he didn’t have much experience with crushes and the like... He didn’t really know how to react at first. You’re met with a total brick wall, no emotion as he tells you he needs time to think, confiding in his brothers before he finally makes the right move.

Aohitsugi Samatoki:

He had an inkling of your feelings but he had been in deep denial that they existed because it would mean having to confront his own feelings for you. Part of him almost wishes he could deny his draw to you but he’d never been one to not go all in, and this applied to you, dedicating himself to your happiness once your feelings are exchanged.

Iruma Jyuto:

Jyuto felt stupid for never realizing, especially when he looks back on how you acted around him, knowing he probably could’ve figured it out before your confession if he had paid closer attention. He’s flattered by it but he needs time to think on it, knowing how big a commitment it would be and not wanting to waste your time if he wasn’t in a good enough place to offer said commitment to you.

Rio Mason Busujima:

Rio didn’t quite understand the extent of your feelings but he had known they were mutual; he was quite fond of you and he found your company to be more enjoyable than most. He was content with allowing things to unfold between you naturally meaning your confession was a pleasant surprise, confirming that he felt the same (and that he admired your bravery for confessing first).

Amemura Ramuda:

Ramuda would act like he saw your confession coming from a mile away, he was very well loved so why would you be any different? But behind this unnecessarily haughty response is a man who very much wants to be truly loved by someone. It’s almost embarrassing to receive a confession so full of genuine feelings that he initially reacted with his fake, peppy persona. When he looked frustrated is when you realized the truth of your feelings was sinking in for him, Ramuda having never suspected that he’d be on the receiving end of this.

Yumeno Gentaro:

Gentaro would have to be purposely ignorant to say he didn’t notice a few signs that suggested you were harboring feelings for him, but he liked to blame things he noticed like that on his imagination. He’s not at all surprised about your confession but to say he doesn’t appreciate you coming to him first would be a lie; he’s quite pleased to hear your words, it makes the feelings seem a little more solid. He beats around the bush at returning these feelings but they are there, just buried deep beneath a pile of denial and fear.

Arisugawa Dice:

Dice is completely blind-sided. He was busy being so hopelessly in love with you that he didn’t notice those feelings were returned at all. You think he must be some type of fool to not realize as it was hard to hide your care for him but Dice admitted it was because he didn’t care if you returned his feelings, because he’d still love you either way. Not to say he isn’t thrilled to hear that you love him too but his love for you was unconditional and it would remain that way no matter what happened.

Matenro

Jinguji Jakurai:

Jakurai was well-aware of your feelings, so painfully aware that it hurt to have to continuously deny them to himself as he felt unworthy of receiving them. The happiness it would bring him to have you by his side would be immeasurable but does he truly deserve it after all he had done? Would he truly make a good partner for you? It’s easier to ignore his feelings than act on them but when you confront him with your own, he gives in instantly.

Izanami Hifumi:

Hifumi was adept at detecting real love from infatuation, at knowing when someone actually felt a certain way about him or if they were blinded by his beauty. It still made him nervous because having a genuine love was a heavy burden to have but he welcomed the challenge if it was you who loved him. He knew that your heart was good and that your confession was delivered directly from it, hoping he can do it justice when he returned your feelings.

Kannonzaka Doppo:

Doppo is in complete shock that you accepted his confession let alone confessed right back to him. He doesn’t know what to do with his swimming thoughts or sweaty hands, wringing his tie between his hands as he waits for you to take it back and say it was all just a prank. When you instead take his nervous hands in your own, managing to calm him with just a touch, he feels his heart suddenly overwhelmed and he could practically cry at how lucky he felt.

Bad Ass Temple

Harai Kuko:

Kuko had made his feelings for you apparent from the very start, his crush on you quite open as he unabashedly flirted with you when he had the chance. Whether you felt the same or not hadn’t mattered because Kuko would care deeply for you either way meaning he didn’t look too deeply into how you acted around him, taking each day as it came until he felt he could truly be a good partner for you.

Aimono Jyushi:

Jyushi is completely caught off-guard, his own feelings having completely blinded him to yours; he had assumed all the returned affection was him simply seeing what he wanted to. He had planned on confessing to you himself, thinking about it over and over, stopping you mid-confession so he could go first (that’s how it had been rehearsed after all).

Amaguni Hitoya:

Hitoya knew. He would have to know, it was his job to carefully observe, to pick up on the tiny little details, but it didn’t mean he realized just how far those feelings went. He didn’t think he was worthy of them, thinking he would be a disappointment of a boyfriend but having to admit to himself that he’d regret it if he didn’t at least try to give himself a chance at happiness with you.

Dotsuitare Hompo

Nurude Sasara:

Sasara is in an odd in-between world where he’s both aware of your feelings and in complete denial that they actually exist. He thinks you might be trying to strike up a comedy bit with him when you confess, taking on the role of the dramatic dame who felt the romance was too tragic to ever work out. Fortunately for him, you were not attempting to recruit him for some comedy duo and that your confession was genuine, Sasara scrambling to gather the rest of his pride before you left him in the dust for the stupid joke he tried to make out of your confession.

Tsutsujimori Rosho:

Rosho can’t fathom where your feelings for him came from. Being surrounded by interesting personalities like Sasara and Rei left him feeling uninteresting, not that he held any bitterness towards them about it as he was who he was. But to hear that you wanted him, to hear that you were so fond of him you were willing to put yourself out there for potential heartbreak just to get your feelings across to him. He had no idea this was coming and is thus unprepared to respond, losing his composure entirely as he fumbled to find the words to show he returned your feelings tenfold.

Amayado Rei:

Rei is well-aware of your feelings, so strikingly aware that it almost feels like he’s purposely stringing you along by indulging you in him. He’s always had this way of making you feel special and while you’re sure he’s working this magic on other women, you do your best to accept your place in his life. You are, at least, in some way very important to Rei and he tells you that while he hears your feelings, there’s a few more things he must do before he can accept them. He hoped that you were ready to rule at the top beside him, promising your patience would be rewarded in some way.

Modern day marauders smau where a drunk and possibly jealous Remus keeps moving the mistletoe around so that no one can kiss Sirius at the Christmas party.

Modern day wolfstar smau where Remus and Sirius accidentally become famous on twitter because of a drunk encounter and Sirius wants to find Remus again.

They were okay. And they were hopeful. Until they were not. Marauders au where the war took away two people Remus held very dear to his heart, leaving him to deal with the aftermath on his own.

Marauders au where Sirius hasn't had a "happy" birthday in a long time, but bad times don't last forever, right? Sirius has never had a reason to celebrate birthdays before, but of course, life at Hogwarts came with an additional bunch of idiots who Sirius clearly underestimated.
