Actually while I'm thinking about it, I just wanna say that the more live-action remakes Disney shlups out like shoveled manure, the more amazed I am that Cinderella (2015) exists. It breaks literally every standard of Disney's LA remakes.
It's not a shot-for-shot remake of the original 1950 animated film, though it does include small references and homages to it, but only when such things can be incorporated organically into the story.
The creators understood and respected the cross-cultural significance of the Cinderella story. They didn't want to "fix" it, or add some wacky twist to it, they just wanted to make the best possible version of the Quintessential Cinderella that they could.
Everything that could be done practically was done practically. The carriage was a real, the horses pulling it were real, and all of the other animals (with the exception of the mice and lizards, since their performance was a lot more involved than the others') were real living animals, the lizard footman and goose carriage driver were wearing prosthetics instead of just having their animal features added in post, the Fairy Godmother's dress had little LED lights sewn into it so that it would actually glow for real, the ballroom set was built by hand and included real chandeliers with more than 2000 total candles that were all actually lit for the scene, and I could go on but you get the point.
There's a ton of attention paid to little details that make the world feel real and lived in. Ella's shoes are always a little scuffed and dirty. Her farm dress is faded and wrinkled. When she breaks down and runs away to the woods, she rides her horse bareback (which, once again, was a thing Lily James actually did, no stunt-double or editing in post), because not only is that something a country girl like her would know how to do, but it also makes sense that with as upset as she is, she wouldn't want to waste time with saddling the horse. When she's dancing with the prince, it's visually obvious that he is leading her and giving her cues because of course Ella wouldn't know the latest ballroom dances, and would need him to guide her through it.
Hey speaking of dancing, y'know what else this movie does that no other LA remake has been allowed to do (at least not to this extent)? ROMANCE. Land sakes alive, this is one of the most unabashedly and yet still tastefully romantic movies I've ever seen. Ella and Kit are just oozing romantic chemistry from the moment they lock eyes for the first time. It all comes down to the fact that these two characters both have the same core values of courage and kindness, which makes their admiration for each other feel grounded and believable. Richard Madden also really sells Kit's feelings for Ella with the way his eyes go all big and soft whenever he looks at her. And don't even get me started on Lily's performance as Ella. Her quiet awe that someone as powerful as the prince loves her. The timidity and fear that she's not really worthy of that. The selfless determination to protect him from her family's cruelty, even if it means she'll never see him again, I'm just-- *banging my fist against the table and screaming into a pillow*
Absolutely god-tier costume design. No notes, I think Sandy Powell's work speaks for itself. Btw, in case you were somehow still wondering, yes, Ella's ballgown is fully practical--those layers upon layers of dreamy silk skirts are real. CG was only used to brighten up the blue color to make her stand out from the crowd more.
Wicked stepmother was allowed to actually be wicked. The movie never tries to make you sympathize with Lady Tremaine, or shift the blame off to someone else. And her villainy is given an extra layer of depth with the reveal that she is a dark reflection of Ella. They've both lost people they loved, but where Ella refused to let her grief get in the way of kindness, Lady Tremaine became utterly consumed by it. She views the death of her first husband as a sort of twisted justification for pursuing all her worst impulses. She despises Ella for her ability to flourish even while enduring terrible suffering, for being everything Lady Tremaine was either unable or flat-out refused to be.
Also Cate Blanchet absolutely SLAYS in this role. Hands-down my favorite portrayal of the wicked stepmother character.
Anyways, TLDR: Cinderella (2015) is the only Disney live-action remake that can justify its own existence and that's because it actively defies everything the LA remakes are today.

Agatha All Along, the highly anticipated follow-up to WandaVision, begins airing this week on Disney+. Now is the perfect to revisit some important information about both shows and the context in which some of Agatha's new characters are being introduced.

WandaVision primarily followed the character Wanda Maximoff and expanded on her family history by introducing her late parents as well her twin sons, who are born from magic and age rapidly over the course of the series.
In the Marvel comics source material, Wanda is part of a large, multigenerational family of Jewish and Romani characters whose stories frequently reflect the systemic violence and oppression that both communities face-- including Romani Holocaust victims, who are critically underrepresented in both education and media. In the MCU, these identities and histories are completely erased, and the characters are all played by white actors. Alternate versions of these characters also appear in the Fox X-Men films, and are similarly whitewashed.
The Romani people are a racialized minority that originated as a South Asian diaspora, and who face severe systemic oppression in Europe and North America. The modern Romani population is quite diverse, but they are not of white ethnic origin, and despite the fact that Wanda and her family have historically been drawn with white features, they are minority characters and ought to be considered as such.
Depictions of witches and witchcraft are often entwined with antisemitism and anti-Romani racism. In pop culture, witches and fortunetellers are typically portrayed as visual stereotypes of Romani women. In the real world, fortunetelling is a profession born from survival work, one which Romani families are often heavily policed and racially profiled for practicing. While Wanda usually subverts these tropes, they are often played straight elsewhere in the superhero genre, and any story about witches, especially one featuring Romani characters, needs to be critiqued in this context.

Agatha All Along introduces viewers to a new cast of characters, including Lilia Calderu, played by Patti LuPone, and the enigmatic "Teen", played by Joe Locke, who is heavily speculated to be an incarnation of Wanda's son, Billy.
In the comics, Lilia is a member of a prominent Romani family in Wanda's community. Often lauded as the "witch queen of the gypsies," Lilia embodies many racial stereotypes about Romani women. In Agatha All Along, Lilia is depicted as an older Sicilian woman, however, being portrayed as a batty fortuneteller with a tawdry psychic shop, she still embodies an offensive trope. Although Lilia is far from "good" representation, this is not an improvement-- if anything, it's even more exploitative.
Billy was raised in a Jewish American household and places a very strong emphasis on his Jewish identity, in addition to having Romani heritage. His identity as a young gay man is always presented in conjunction with this heritage, not in spite of it. Though there is a significance to Locke being a gay actor playing a gay character, his casting-- if he is indeed playing Billy-- is not authentic. White gay representation should not supersede racial inclusivity, and it is not an excuse for whitewashing or Jewish erasure.

Marvel Studios recently announced that the character Doctor Doom will be played by Robert Downey Jr., who is returning to the franchise after many years in the role of Iron Man. In the source material, Doom is also a Romani character with a very similar background to Wanda's. This identity is central to Doom's character-- although he is written to be both morally and politically challenging, the liberation of his people has always been a primary motive.
Clearly, this type of whitewashing is an ongoing pattern in the MCU franchise. Although "Teen's" identity is still unconfirmed and Lilia may, ultimately, be of little consequence, they are part of a larger problem, and Agatha All Along needs to critiqued in that context.

Since people are talking about the pattern of bittersweet endings in recent Disney films, I've made a few comments on others' posts, but I may as well reiterate my points in a post of my own.
People sometimes say, "Well, having characters in a family (found or otherwise) part ways while still caring for each other while apart is more mature and shows emotional growth," but here's the thing: the narratives of Lilo and Stitch, of the first Wreck-It Ralph, and the first Frozen are already mature. And the endings of these original movies are already about emotional growth.
Like, forging a family who sticks together IS ITSELF SHOWN TO BE A FORM OF HEALING in these narratives. Nani wants to be there for Lilo and that in itself is a sign of maturity. Why is caring about a family member as much as you care about yourself the less mature option? It already is maturity, and the original film already deals with themes of sacrifice and societal pressures in a way that is richer than the remake. The original film may have had its teeth pulled by the deletion of the racism scene, but it still has bite because the film centers on the struggles of an indigenous family trying desperately not to be pulled apart and does not recoil from or muddy those themes.
Similarly, Ralph befriending Vanellope is mutually healing for both of them because both have been ostracized. The sisters reuniting in Frozen represents emotional growth already. Elsa and Anna both have emotional scars from the misguided way their parents raised them, and over the course of the film, they overcome these scars by realizing they can forge a new path together, a path based in mutual trust and love.
Indeed, I would even argue there's more growth and healing in the sisters' relationship in Frozen Fever than Frozen 2 because the sisters are specifically rejecting the isolation imposed upon them by their parents' flawed parenting choices. They are responding to the flawed strictures under which they grew up and creating something healthier, something more tenable, something that gets to the root of their previous pain and helps them heal from it.
It's like Disney is saying, "There's only one way to express a sense of growth in a narrative. Individual character journeys have to be cemented by leaving the home," but this line of thinking is flawed. First, individuality can still exist within a closely-knit group of friends/family. And, more importantly, these characters have already "left the home" in a metaphorical sense and built the concept of home anew with the people that they love. The new versions of home (and the families they have created) in their original films are expressions of their identities because they have crafted them on their own out of personal choices and love.

AHH UR WRITING EATS UP EVERY TIME🙏🔥🔥
anyways, low-key inspired by your Jinx-ring fix and got an idea. Reader makes jewlery for fun and her, Jinx and Isha all have some kind of matching jewelry w/ a little hex-jem in it
-thank youuu (take ur time n take care of yourself honey💜)
of course! thank you for the request <3
thank you for the kind words! also this request kind of reminded me of those dora and disney princess kid rings that used to be everywhere in the 2000s? i loved those please tell me i'm not crazy and you guys know what i'm talking about.
summary; reader makes matching rings for herself, jinx, and isha.
characters included; jinx, isha (platonic/familial)
tags/warnings; fluff, domestic, welder/jeweler!reader, mother/mother/daughter dynamic, i can't rly think of anything else
men dni.
"stay still."
you murmur, holding a thin strip of paper around jinx's right ring finger. you wrap it around once, using one of jinx's blue markers to mark just a millimeter below where the paper should end. just for safety, you think. jinx's gaze is fixed on you, before you straighten up and write 'J' on the remainder of the white strip.
“got me all measured now?”
“mhm. thanks, babe.” you smile, squeezing one of your girlfriend’s shoulders.
you'd told her what you were up to. you were an apprentice under one of the undercity's only jewelers, welding jewelry by hand and making custom orders for loyal patrons. wedding bands, engagement rings, promise rings, pendants, chains, charm bracelets- you'd done it all.
since taking in isha, once just a scared little girl in the lanes who insisted on hanging off jinx's pant leg, your life had changed for the better. you'd already been pretty satisfied with the state of things. you had a stable job, you loved your craft, you had a beautiful and loving girlfriend by your side. all of this combined was more than enough to keep you happy, but at the most unexpected of times, this girl had come into your life.
she was afraid, having seen firsthand the rigidity of zaun and just how violent things could become; especially in the climate of recent days. but she was also sweet, and both you and jinx could tell that she just needed someone to love her. communicate with her, play with her, make her feel important. rather, two someones.
yet after taking her in, she’d grown so much. always such a playful kid, so curious about the world around her and so fascinated by both you and jinx. you’d had endless adventures together, filled with laughter and anticipation. a kid-friendly version of jinx’s usual mayhem. though you’d also share quiet mornings together, when isha wants to help you make breakfast or wants you to read from one of the children’s books jinx had stolen for her.
and now, you wanted to do something for the three of you. a marker of your status as a family, and something you know both jinx and isha would love. with jinx’s possessive nature, matching jewelry was an immediate ‘yes,’ and isha would be delighted to receive something so personalized. and to be able to match with her moms? that’s the cherry on top!
though, both you and jinx had agreed to keep it a surprise for the girl. the look on her face when she received her gift would be worth having to keep a secret (as difficult as that was for jinx).
“your turn, ish!”
you call out, a sound which is soon followed by the pitter-patter of little feet. isha looks up at you with wide, curious eyes, before you crouch down to her level and reach your hand out for one of hers.
“give me your hand.”
you hum, your tone instantly becoming softer in the presence of isha. she holds up both hands, looking at you as if to ask ‘which one?’ a smile tugs at your lips, and you let out a light chuckle.
“either one. just give me a hand.”
isha then puts down her right hand, giving you free access to her left. you gently take the girl's hand in yours and spread her fingers out, slotting another thin slip of paper in. she tilts her head curiously, but allows you to wrap the paper around her finger and mark it- this time with a yellow 'I.' upon releasing her hand, you look up at the girl before you to be greeted by furrowed brows. a low laugh escapes you.
"it's a surprise, kid. you'll know soon enough, okay?"
isha frowns, looking over to jinx for some kind of backup or clue as to what you're finding, though she just shrugs in her chair.
"sorry, isha. this one-" she points her index finger at you. "made me promise not to tell."
the girl lets out a low yet adorable groan, keeping her little arms crossed over her chest. you could almost give in upon seeing her bottom lip poking out lightly, her leaning on one leg, and those yellow eyes narrowed; but you had a surprise to keep. isha would know soon enough, and she'd love it.
✧.*
it was challenging to find time between clients, but within about three weeks, you'd finally managed to complete the set of rings.
the rings you'd made yourself and your girlfriend weren't difficult. but you'd never made a ring for a child before, and making a piece of jewelry fit for isha's fingers proved to be one of the most daunting tasks during your time as a jeweler. engraving it had proved to be even more difficult. but you'd managed, and you were damn proud of the final results.
your girlfriend and isha sit in front of you, looking at you with expectant eyes. you'd just told them that you had a surprise for them both, and guided them to sit on jinx's torn leather couch. jinx knows exactly what you're planning, trying (and failing) to look unassuming in front of isha.
"close your eyes and hold your hands out," you say with a smile, giving both girls knowing glances while they do what you've asked. isha's hands out in front of her while her wide eyes slip shut, jinx wearing a slight smirk. you step back and take a deep breath in, before reaching into your back right pocket to retrieve the rings. two matching silver bands, the metal clinking together quietly as you try to separate them in your hand.
you place the rings in their outstretched hands, before reaching into your left pocket to take your own out and slip it onto your finger.
"now... open."
both of their eyes slip open, and isha instantly gasps at the sight before her. jinx's eyes widen, immediately wearing a toothy grin. she turns the ring in her hand, looking at how the shiny silver catches in the light.
"look at that."
she gasps, turning the ring in her hand. jinx's ring holds a blue hex crystal, glowing even in the dim lighting of jinx's hideout. on one side of the crystal, a cursive engraving of the letter J, and a simplistic outline of a monkey on the other side. isha's own is similar, holding another hex crystal. an 'I' is engraved into her ring, a bunny on the other side to match it.
and your own, the same silver band and hex crystal adorning it. though this one is engraved with your initial, and the outline of a cat.
"you like it?" you ask, holding up your right hand for jinx to see. her smile returns, and isha is nodding frantically. it's adorable to see- her wide smile and the way her hair bounced up and down while nodding. she's so enthusiastic.
"it looks great, toots." she muses, "but i still think i could've done better. i have scrap metal and a blowtorch."
you lightly roll your eyes at jinx's quip, but turn to gauge isha's reaction. she's already put her ring on where she remembers you measuring her, marveling at the sight. she's switching between gasping whenever she notices a new detail, and smiling wide at the fact that you made this for her. the fact that they're all matching and personalized isn't lost on isha, and you can tell it makes it that much more special for the girl.
a far cry from the scared child jinx had brought home a few months prior, and this is exactly what makes your job worth it. not the acclaim, not the positive critics' reviews, not even the money (though that was always welcomed). the fact that you've made an impact on this kid by using your craft makes you only want to push more, strive to be greater. give her both something to remind her of your love, and a positive role model to look to.
she's finally able to close her mouth, giving a close-lipped smile and bring her hand to her chin to sign 'thank you.'
"you're welcome," you breathe out, before sitting yourself between jinx and isha on the couch. you reach an arm out for both of them to pull them into your sides. "those weren't easy to make, you know."
"so you've told me."
jinx replies, and you shake your head in mock resignation. isha, though, is pressing closer to you, one arm haphazardly wrapped around you while she continues to 'ooh' and 'aah' at her new jewelry.
"these feel so personal, you know." jinx murmurs, suddenly a bit more earnest. she's looking at her own ring herself, her gaze flitting between the glimmering hex crystal and you. "i mean, they are. they were made for us. but i don't know. it's... nice."
isha makes a 'hm' noise in agreement, jinx taking a deep breath.
"i like that it's just us. we're the only people in the world who have these rings, and we get to show them off. i think that's a pretty damn good selling point."
you hum, gently brushing your lips along the crook of jinx's neck before letting your head rest on jinx's shoulder. isha situates herself to lay across both yours and jinx's laps, her little hands folded over her stomach.
"it's like we're some kind of exclusive club."
jinx chuckles, coming to card her fingers through fluffy brown hair.
"or a family."
the girl pauses, her shoulders tensing for only a moment. a family. she'd never necessarily thought of it like that, having let go of the idea of ever having a family again long ago. but it's the perfect descriptor of your group without a doubt, and it feels like the right word to put to the moment you're having right now. her shoulders relax, a gentle smile gracing her features. isha reaches to squeeze one of jinx's hands in a show of silent support.
"...yeah. a family."

Donald Duck and Goofy with their kids at the Powerline concert - Daisy, Peg and Pete with their kids also at the Powerline concert - Boys and men - Women and girls - Happy 30th anniversary A Goofy Movie! - Goof Troop, A Goofy Movie and Quack Pack crossover - Quack Pack AU - Goofyverse, Dogverse and Duckverse - My style
On April 7, 1995, director Kevin Lim and writers Jymm Magon and animation studios from France and Australia, namely Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Television Animation, released a film that definitely changed Goofy's career, which is A Goofy Movie. And this year marks the 30th anniversary of that movie! That film focused specifically on the relationship between father and son, namely Goofy and Max, as well as Max's relationships with his friends (Pete Junior and Bobby Zimmeruski) and a girl named Roxanne. I liked that film a lot and it is one of my favorite animated films and it was well made, although there were certain mistakes. It certainly deserved special attention. Bill Farmer and Jason Marsden played the two most important characters very well.
On this occasion, I drew two drawings (since not everyone would fit in one) related to A Goofy Movie, so I made them as crossovers of two really underrated series that I really love, and that was the crossover of Quack Pack and Goof Troop together at the Powerline concert in Los Angeles. By the way, that Powerline was an imitation of a 1990s pop star and was played by Tevin Campbell and was inspired by Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Prince and Bobby Brown and remained for their famous hits such as "Stand Out" and "Eye to Eye". I love both, but I liked "Eye to Eye" more, so I did a redraw of the dance of that song as Goof Troop and Quack Pack sing it and dance it. One drawing is with male characters and boys, and the other drawing is with female characters and girls, plus Pete. I always thought that Donald Duck Movie was supposed to be like A Goofy Movie, so I added Donald's family with Goofy and Pete's family. Both the kids are teenagers, while Pistol is more like a preteen, but she's also entering her teens (I found inspiration in some drawings where Pistol is a teenager, but I did it my way). The first drawing features Max Goof, Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck plus Phooey Duck (Quack Pack version and as Quack Pack AU), Pete Junior (P.J.), Goofy Goof, Donald Duck, Bobby Zimmeruski and of course Powerline. The second drawing features Daisy's nieces April, May and June Duck (my Quack Pack version, my style), Pistol Pete, Daisy Duck, Peg Pete, Roxanne Rover (Max's girlfriend), Roxanne's friend Stacey, a backup dancer lady who was with Powerline and of course Peg-Leg Pete, or Peter Pete. Sorry for some mistakes, especially with the background, although I made them look like the concert lights were pointing at them. And I added Peg and Pistol because they were definitely missing from that movie. I hope you like this, as well as the anniversary of A Goofy Movie.
I hope you like these drawings, these characters, these versions of me and these ideas of mine and feel free to like and reblog this as much as possible to support my work, just don't copy these same ideas and versions of these characters without mentioning me. Thanks! Also happy 100th birthday to Pete and happy 30th anniversary to A Goofy Movie and happy birthday to Donald's nephews and Daisy's nieces and happy birthday to me (which was on April 5th). So I did a special for my birthday too! :D Happy 30th anniversary to A Goofy Movie!

Films made to praise Perseleia/Arsinoe in the Athenide verse:
1) Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame part I
(Much thanks to the community for helping me get over my insecurity in posting this.)
Before I get into the Perpollo I'm also going to talk about the potential symbolism the Apollo kids here could have done for Hermes and Arsinoe since the Olympian brothers are known to be mutually in mourning.
1) Clopin as narrator
Much like the mythological Hermes, he serves as the precursor to our hero's journey. Hermes was the Greek god of language, rhetoric, and eloquence, and was also associated with literature. He was also the patron of orators, interpreters, and the study of texts, which is now known as hermeneutics.
So by placing him in an oral setting this role is honored over the messenger job which is more of a burden at this point. Clopin shows an aura similar to what we see in Epic Hermes: he's informing the audience of what they're about to see in a fun way, using the preferred medium of the time but is perfectly capable of becoming serious when required to. The fact he knows how the story starts can be both an allusion to his overseeing humanity as well as part of the fan theory that he's the romani father of Quasimodo which leads me to the other Arsinoe/Hermes points.
2) 'Justice' (coughs in Zeus who thankfully never saw this movie) shackling or killing what he finds a risk.
I find it very fitting to have Zeus be a parallel to Frollo due to his status as god of Justice in Olympus. One of his titles is 'Shield of The State' which is precisely what Frollo claims to be doing whilst eliminating the romani population of Paris. And Frollo's first appearance tramples over several of Hermes's domains: he thwarted the passengers' journey which Hermes oversees as patron of travelers, he nullifies the offer of safe passage which Hermes protects under his role of Soteria (doubly insulting since the ship they're on resembles Charon's in reference to Hermes as a psychopomp) and leaves no room for Hermes' legal patronage of diplomacy as we see his prisoners have no trial, only arrest and torture. This is in reference to how Zeus punishes the rebels after the net incident without allowing Themis, Hermes or other legal deities a say so he could dole out what he deemed an appropriate punishment. This version of Hermes (the father and husband) is shackled, never to be seen again just as the Hermes of old is but a memory after Zeus is done molding him to his requirements.
3) Mirror images of Loyalty and Sensibility
Quasimodo's unnamed mother bears a striking resemblance to Esmeralda. While the filmmakers most likely did this to show how both are of the same ethnic people, here it can also serve as a physical link to the twins. Of course the lady of the forgotten bears a face akin to her sister the caretaker of demigods. One should expect nothing else from the Athenide twins. The lady of family and reason shelters her newest charge (taken precisely because he was abandoned so she probably gave him a name like Doro so he'd feel loved) with the aid of her beloved but is 'justly' charged as a criminal for doing the duty that makes them more popular than Zeus. Unlike others, Arsinoe already knows nothing will sway the god king to show her charge compassion and she also knows Hermes will understand saving their mortal charge is a more immediate priority than freeing him so she simply runs to what should protect them. (By doing so the film thus lets Hermes know Apollo doesn't blame him for what happened to either of the twins since he too is their father's unlucky victim and there's nothing he could have done.) This leads to 'doom at the hands of whom should protect me' for Arsinoe as Zeus Horkios ("Zeus of pledges and promises") refuses to uphold the medieval version of xenia.
One can also note how the music in the chase scene is unapologetically said in latin, tongue of the cursed romans. The main verses literally translate to "Day of wrath. Day of mourning. See fulfilled the prophet's warning". This can allude to both the upcoming tragedy as well as Zeus' own fears potentially coming true since he consumed Metis, his own wife and grandmother of the Athenides due to a prophecy stating that if Metis bore a son it would grow to overthrow him. Most assume the prophecy thwarted due to Athena swearing maidenhood but the Athenides' romance with two of the most powerful Olympians could bring the fulfilment of this foretold coup d'etat if they bear a full blooded grandSON. So by Zeus' own logic, the Athenide's survival endangers his rule. And since common sense is more easily disposed of than loyalty, Hermes' bride will be *taken care of* first. With Arsinoe gone, reason will eventually fall under the clutch of fanaticism veiled as righteousness.

Stella/Stolas

Figured it would be best to start with some of my favorite redesigns! Welcome back Worst Married Couple In Hell!!!
For Stella I wanted to really focus on her lack of agency in her own life down to her outfit, dressing her in her husbands purple/blue shades with her own pink/purple shades being just an accent. I also imagine this Stella being unable to read beyond very basic stuff, corset training from a young age, and has a heavy focus during her upbringing on her looks. Taught how to balance books on her head rather than understand them. One of my biggest gripes with Stella in the show is how she is primarily there to make Stolas a more perfect victim, she acts to make us as the viewer feel bad for Stolas. Viv, I feel, forgot that she wrote both of them into an arranged marriage where they were forced to have kid. Another thing I wanted to explore with Stella moving forward was her abuse of Octavia, rather than her being a Disney villain I think her being neglectful as Stolas is would be interesting. Where Stolas is holding onto a younger, less angsty version of his daughter, Stella never wanted anything to do with her. It's not from a place of hate as it is pain, Octavia being a walking reminder that she is trapped here with this man who can do whatever he pleases. Coming around to Stolas I wanted to lean a touch into a more manipulative vision for him. Well meaning for sure but definitely with a victim complex. This lends into his own neglect of Octavia, trying to force a relationship that just is not there and hasn't since she was a child. Stolas at his core wants to be a good person but as a young man, or really as a young boy he didn't know the proper way to parent or be a partner to Stella in that way. This of course leaves Octavia isolated, which I'll go more into later. In my vision, Stolas does realize much too late that he does love Blitzo but it's much less glossed over with his fetishization and disrespect to Imps. His primary confusion is not that it happened but rather that he doesn't realize his impact on others, which is his main throughline in his relationships.
I will probably have more to say laterer but for now this'll do as a jumping off point for the rest of the story/concept.

Random TCF Related Thought - Fairy Tales
In canon proper, we know that fairy tales do exist in Nameless 1, or at least, fiction geared towards children.
Well, I was reading some TCF React fics and found a hilarious moment where Heni!KRS was explaining fairy tales to Cale's kids and was shooketh to find out that Cale had butchered some of Earth's classic fairy tales into loosely-based-on stories (to put it gently) cuz apparently the "princess-in-distress" trope would not be relatable if every princess IRL they know could easily save themselves in a simailar or same situation. Therefore, Badass Action Girl!Princesses FTW.
Where am I going with this?
So my shower thought is that Cale one day decided to invoke his inner Brothers Grimm and published his own book series based off of Earth's classic fairy tales.
But here's the twist: He uses the Walt Disney versions but made every Disney Princess BAMFs.
Sorry, Mr. Walt Disney. Your own versions of Earth's classic fairy tales were a product of your time, but your 50s sensibilities won't fly when all of the princesses Cale knows can easily break a full grown man man in tiny little pieces, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Besides, he wants little girls like On and Lily to have strong female role models to aspire to be even if it's in fiction.
Sleeping Beauty? Aurora is based on Roselyn. She finds out that she got cursed by Maleficent, who is a whole Dragon that her father had offended by failing to invite her to his unborn daughter's christening like he promised, so she threw away her status as crown princess to become a mage out of spite and break the curse on her own. In the end, she succeeds and managed to tracked down Maleficent to her lair. Maleficent is so impressed by her moxie that the Dragon took her on as an apprentice. By the time, Prince Phillip shows up hoping to slay the Dragon and take Aurora back to his kingdom so they can be married, the story is already over.
Beauty and the Beast? Belle is the village chief's daughter and the most beautiful girl in the tribe. Belle is a Tiger and Lion mixed-blood Beastman and also pining after the cute human bookworm named Adam in the next village over. Dorph the greater value Gaston can go fuck himself for all she cares. TLDR: Role Reversal AU and Belle is Dark Tiger!Alberu.
Cinderella? Cinderella is a secretly a Shaman. Everything is the same up until the whole dress ruining scene. After that, Cinderella invokes the spirit of Queen Jopis, stopped giving a shit, and turned the rest of the plot into a shitshow. Her evil stepfamily is given the OG!Brothers Grimm treatment.
Pocahontas? Everything is the same except the Powhatans are all Elves. Ratcliffe is the White Bitchless.
Hunchback of Notre Dame? The plot is the same, but Esmeralda is a Dark Elf, and Quasimodo is half-Dark Elf. Frollo is replaced by Adin just so he can fall off the roof a second time.
Aladdin? Jasmine is also a thief. She looted what should've been her dowry from the Sultan, her annoying suitors' wealth, Genie's lamp, Carpet from the Cave of Wonders, Aladdin's heart, and Jafar aka the White Hobo Looking's dignity and respect, not in that order, then whisked Aladdin off of his bare feet and away to her own personal kingdom. Basically, Cale reimagined her as Fem!Hong Gildong.
The Little Mermaid? Romeo and Juliet with a happy ending where Prince Eric is a Whale Prince and Ariel is still a Mermaid, and both their families got scammed into finally burying the hatchet by Ursula.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves? Snow White is a Dwarf too, and the plot is basically an otome where she has seven suitors from different tribes, and the Evil Queen (*couch*Elisneh*cough*) is, of course, the jealous villainess.
Brave: Everything's the same except Sayeru gets abused more than Mor'du in this book.
Frozen: Everything's the same except Prince Hans is swapped out for Sir Bernard cuz Hans the goodest butler doesn't deserve to be associated with scum.
Tangled: Everything's the same except it's Adin who takes a swan dive off of the tower.
Mulan: Everything's the same except the Huns are replaced by Arm.

do you have a list of recommended musicals for someone whose knowledge of them begins and ends at the animated disney ones (and pretty much knows nothing about theatre in general)? I want to try a few and see if it's a genre I'd be interested in, since a lot of my friends are way more into it than I am
Well, there are plenty of musical adaptations of Disney films. Lion King is a standout, but Beauty and the Beast is also really really good and Hunchback of Notre Dame has some KILLER music. There's also a Finding Nemo musical that only plays at Disney Parks but which is REALLY good– try to find a bootleg from BEFORE the recent "The Big Blue and Beyond" revamp, it sucks so bad and it's abridged.
If you want something in your comfort zone so you can wade in slowly, I'd look at Annie, Matilda, Hairspray, The Lightning Thief, Little Women, or Shrek. Wicked and The Wiz are both stellar Wizard of Oz adaptations, Wonderland is my favorite Alice musical, and Roger & Hammerstein's Cinderella is not just a classic, but the basis of the 90s Brandy film (also Disney). You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown is also very cute, and Newsies is based on a live-action Disney property but FAR outshines its film version– the proshot is also on Disney+!
As for classic musicals, well. Wicked of course. Cats is good for if you like dance and costume design (which also has a proshot instead of the shitty movie.) And unfortunately Phantom of the Opera also fucks severely (you win this round ALW...) You know what else fucks severely, though? Hadestown. Also, Chicago is one of my favorites, and Fiddler on the Roof is a core memory for me. Then there's Les Misérables, Little Shop of Horrors, Mamma Mia, Ragtime, The Sound of Music, Cabaret, Guys and Dolls. Hamilton has plenty of discourse and cringe which is probably deserved but if you're looking for lyric composition and set design, it has an available proshot. Beetlejuice is a FUN ride and I honestly prefer it to the movie (don't @ me). And of course, my FAVORITE musical ever, Next to Normal... though that is VERY far from a Disney movie, so make sure to check appropriate trigger warnings lol.
Edit: As the notes said: how the FUCK did i forget Into the Woods and Footloose?? but also dont watch the disney version of Into the Woods it sucks
And if you're just looking for music and not stage presence, Epic the Musical is just a concept album. And you might think "oh, it got famous on TikTok, how good can it be" IT'S GOOD. IT'S GOOD I PROMISE. OMG

Actual Disney Princess Pope Innocent XIV.
(Whether you go with the Mexican movie version, the Pinoy book version or have him be the best of both because YAAASSS)
Y'all.
Guys.
Y'all know it didn't just stop with the turtles, right?
Of COURSE he had actual birb friends alighting on his shoulders, on top of his zucchetto, eating breadcrumbs from his hands etc.
Yes, he ended up bringing back a couple of stray kittens.
Cardinal Bellini may have had to say a few Acts of Contrition as penance, after a bunch of schoolkids gifted His Holiness with a puppy. The puppy and the kittens were basically love at first sight.
Cardinal Lawrence simply smiles beatifically ("Thomas, you are HOPELESS!" - Cardinal Bellini) and just helps His Holiness ensure that his growing menagerie is safe, happy and content.
Also, one of the kittens had apparently decided that the good Dean was THEIR person, so that was that.

coryo question yooo
so, coryo. how do i put. he's a bit evil isn't he? I don't mean he's necessarily a fascist dictator in your version of him but I'm sure he has that bit of authoritarian...machiavellian...high functioning sociopath maybe.... vibes to him right??? what I'm trying to ask do you vibe with the evil or is it the opposite, the contrast between you that makes things click? or what parts of him that are evil, not in a cartoonish way but more like antagonistic, i guess, do you like? or don't like for that matter.
IDK HOW TO PUT AIGHT I HOPE YOU GET IT zero judgement btw love u both looking forward to ur wedding mwah
ok so. emma lore.
i need to start with this because otherwise none of it will land. context is a courtesy. and you need to understand that i was six years old and rooting for gaston. not like "haha he's hot" no i wanted him to win. i wanted him to kill the beast. kidnap belle maybe. drag her to some candlelit cabin in the forest where he'd like. cut wood and wear a loose shirt and say very little. and she'd be cold and annoyed and then she'd love him. that was my idea of a happy ending. in a very serious, six-year-old-me-staring-down-disney way. yea. yea are the dots connecting perchance
i actually need to find a scene from some sort of a batman film where some sort of joker was. like. very psychosexual with a woman. i think that genuinely changed my neurones because ever since then i've been wanting that
anyways. i've always been like............... if he's casual and masculine and a little emotionally unavailable and weirdly competent in a crisis and has that like. authoritarian slouch. i'm interested. it's kink. it's trauma. it's architecture. this is how i'm built (sadly)
so when people are like. "coryo's a bit evil, right?" it's like. of course. obviously. that's the point !!!!!!!
and coryo in my dr isn't fascist. not like that. but he is structured. particular. always five steps ahead. the authoritarianism in him shows up as protection. shows up as hyper-control. and the older i get, the more i see how calming that is to me. how someone else being strict and firm and precise lets me fall apart. he's not evil to me. that's the thing i think that's the answer. ok let me end this now okay yea no
so yea. it's not contrast, really. it's not like "i'm soft and he's not." because i feel like then i'd be more like sejanus or lucy gray and. obviously. im not. because. idk. anyways im just messy about it and need someone who makes decisions. someone who wouldn't cry when i'm crying. someone who holds the line and makes all the decisions and in an ideal situation if he becomes a dictator i wouldnt have to suffer from it
and the parts of him that are antagonistic, like the way he never explains himself, the way he can be cutting, the way he'd probably run a country like a boarding school, i like them because they're efficient. because they're predictable. because they make me feel safe. i'm not here to be in a cute relationship although yea maybe i am but i also just. kind of. want. to. be. whats the word so that i dont sound like a housewife from the 50s. doing nothing. and maybe ill be a bit more honest and say that. i'm kind of the person who would turn a..............blind-ish eye to something evil if the man who is doing it loves me. (gasp). but i obviously dont have a hunger games dr dont worry lol
anyways. hope that answers it. mwah. wedding invite is en route (dictated, not written. you know how he is)

I am trying desperately to figure out why parts of this fandom WANT a Stolas/Blitz/Vassago love triangle.
First of all, I thought we as a society have agreed that the love triangle trope is one of the worst romance tropes out there and that we’re all ready to retire it.
Second of all, it would be such a fundamental betrayal of both Stolas’s and Blitz’s character journeys for that to happen. Stolas would roll back his progress in making choices for himself and owning up to his mistakes, and Blitz would have every dooming fear he had about love validated and he’d shut down again.
Even if it’s just coming from the perspective of loving Stolas and thinking he can do better than Blitz, making Stolas even CONSIDER something romantic with Vassago, after everything he and Blitz went through, would be such an audacious display of character assassination.
And even if you don’t care about the characters, with all the other conflict going on, throwing a love triangle in there would just make the story bloated and irritating.
No matter how you look at it, adding a love triangle would be a dooming decision for the show.
I could understand the sentiment of Stolas and Vassago being a possible thing if we're referring to Apology Tour Blitz.
Back in Apology Tour, Blitz in no way was ready for a relationship and no matter how hard he tried to put that mask down, he wasn't able to open up completely without looking pained.
However, Sinsmas Blitz is genuinely the very best version of Blitz there is (so far).
Attentive
Caring
Fun-loving
Caretaker
Protective
Patient
Happy Cuddly Lizard 🦎
Suave and Romantic
And this version of Blitz is only able to exist because of the intensive character growth he went through in Apology Tour, Ghostfuckers, and Mastermind.
But the main reason why this Blitz is able to exist right now is because he has completely opened up his heart and soul to Stolas, and knows that without a doubt that he is genuinely loved by him (Stolas), Millie, Moxxie, and Loona.
Of course, Blitz has some more character growth to do, but right now, he's at much more healthier mindset than he ever was, and that's a miracle.
Stolas, right now, needs help and assistance and has some growing to do. And Blitz sees that and knows that. There is no better person to care for Stolas right now than Sinsmas Blitz.
I know Stolas is confused, lost, depressed, and is in desperate need of his antidepressants; but he is going to be fine as long as he is able to grow and adjust to his new way of life.
Right now, the man is now dealing with the fallout of every wrong thing he has ever done in the course of the series in genuinely the most fucked up way possible. Actions have consequences, and Stolas is now learning the gravity of that.
But I'm going to be blunt, the man made his bed, and now he only has Blitz. They don't owe each other a relationship, but if Blitz is giving 110% of his love and devotion to Stolas, and Stolas repays him by literally going, "I am now magically in love with Vassago who I have never had a fucking conversation with once in the entirety of two seasons."
That is going to ruin Stolas' character for a lot of people, and that is going to break Blitz in a way I fear he won't ever be able to recover.
Also, these guys are endgame. You can't get anymore endgame than the gayest- cheesiest Disney duet in the universe.

Stranger Things, Peter Pan, Mothers, and Wendys
Some Peter Pan artifact, I'd guess a Disney movie tie-in book, hanging out in Holly's room
I recently watched The Lost Boys and read Peter Pan (really Peter and Wendy in The Annotated Peter Pan but what version of the story is "the original" is infamously convoluted).
The Lost Boys was a viewing experience that made me feel like I understood the Duffers’ whole deal in a completely new way - like watching Election finally made me understand what Ryan Murphy has actually been trying to do all this time. I know we’re always like Spielberg, King, Carpenter, etc but how much of this movie is in ST’s DNA is pretty wild, there even is a “barricading the house against a supernatural threat with everyday items as makeshift weapons" montage with a synth score. Joel Schumacher we gotta start giving you your proper due in this conversation, we do simply owe gay ppl everything (also as with any worthwhile ST reference to pull at @/threemanoperation has already been on this beat)
Anyways, The Lost Boys is a spiritual Peter Pan adaptation and one big current that shows up from its source text is a real preoccupation with the mother.
These aren’t the only ST reference texts with a lot of mom stuff going on. We’re getting probably the icon of genre movie motherhood herself with Linda Hamilton joining the show in s5, and pregnancy body horror is like the entire thing in extremely obvious ST creature design touchpoint Alien.
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Linda Hamilton seems to be playing a female counterpoint to Brenner/Papa, so all signs point to them intentionally invoking that reference at least.
Joyce is our purest Spielberg mom: the harried single parent, doing her best, a bit eccentric. She’s taken a backseat in recent seasons, but a new maybe-Mama taking on Papa's mantle as s5’s primary human antagonist points to Joyce taking more of a lead again.
Joyce seeming to spend a substantial chunk of s5 separated from Hopper gives me hope, as does her seeming to be the most connected with Henry of our ST-adult-cast-as-teens in The First Shadow. We heard Victor’s story last season, so turning to Virginia’s role in the tragedy of Henry might be another narrative element that pulls Joyce out as a foil.
One of our other established moms, Karen, also looks to be getting an expanded role in s5. If Holly is indeed taken by the military, she should join Joyce to take on Linda Hamilton (are we ever going to learn her character name good lord).
If Joyce and Karen are our Mrs. Darlings, then we have the Wendy-coded among us: "mothergate" creator El, and Alienesque body horror victim/slug incubator Will.
Like Wendy, El and Will both have their own personal playhouses even within the broader kid kingdoms of Neverland, Mike’s basement, and the woods.
And, of course, once Wendy leaves Neverland and grows up, she has a daughter named Jane who eventually journeys to Neverland with Peter herself.
Wendy’s primary “power” in Peter Pan is storytelling, which lives with mothers in the book/play in a very fairy tale logic sort of way. Peter is initially attracted to the Darlings’ nursery window by Mrs. Darling’s bedtime stories. And that's the reason he is convinced to bring Wendy to Neverland (she "tempts him" with stories).
This actually convinces Peter to bring Wendy to Neverland even if he isn't so hot on the idea of mothers himself. "The Boy Who Hated Mothers" was a working title for Peter Pan the play.
There is an interesting relationship between storytelling and time in Peter Pan that probably deserves more exploration, maybe a topic for a later post. The residents of Neverland exist out of time, which means they can’t conceptualize beginnings or endings - and that's why they can’t tell stories and Wendy's ability to do so has such allure.
in Neverland, time has literally been killed
I still haven’t totally made sense of what this implies for our Neverlandesque-frozen-in-time Upside Down and El and friends’ preoccupation with stories in s5. But it feels significant in the final act of our coming-of-age story, especially considering why the Upside Down is stuck on November 6, 1986 is allegedly a driving mystery of what's to come, according to the Duffers.

Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck as superheroes - T-Squad - Regular T-Squad and My version of T-Squad - Red Shadow, Blue Cyclops and Green Avenger - Mantis Duck and Green Avenger (Spiderman meme-My redraw) - Gift for my friend (Quack Pack Adult AU) Superheroes - Quack Pack, Quack Pack AU and Duckverse - My style and My version - Happy late birthday to Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck - Superhero Day
I haven't drawn Huey, Dewey and Louie from the Quack Pack as superheroes in a while, so I drew them again, and it was on Superhero Day, which is celebrated on April 28th, because back in 1995, Marvel Comics declared that day as National Superhero Day. On April 15, 1938, the famous trio appeared in the classic Donald Duck short, called “Donald’s Nephews”, which will change the history of the Duckverse in part. I also did this for a belated birthday to my favorite trio after the Three Caballeros, which is Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck, and of course one of my favorite, and underrated, versions, from the Quack Pack. Happy birthday Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck! Although in my headcanon they celebrate their birthday on the same day as mine, also in the month of April.
It's not the first time I've drawn T-Squad, both versions, the official one from Quack Pack and one of my versions from Quack Pack AU, and you can see more of that here: https://ducktoonsfanart.tumblr.com/post/748315886828552192/huey-dewey-and-louie-duck-as-superheroes
The first drawing is my redraw in my style of Huey, Dewey and Louie as the T-Squad from Quack Pack, especially from the first episode “The Really Mighty Ducks”. T-Squad actually stands for the Tremendously Talented Trio of Truly Trusted Trouble-Shooters and is made up of Donald’s nephews. Huey is The Really Incredibly Fast Guy, Dewey is Brain Boy and Louie is Captain Muscle. Although they look funny, they certainly look very good to me as superheroes, because unfortunately there wasn’t much in the animation that they were depicted as superheroes.
The second drawing is my version of T-Squad, or how I prefer Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck to be as superheroes according to their personalities. They are also the successors of the main Disney Duck superheroes. Louie Duck is the Green Avenger (based on Duck Avenger), Dewey Duck is the Blue Cyclops (based on Gizmoduck) and Huey Duck is the Red Shadow (based on Darkwing Duck and Shadow). I specially drew them according to the modern model as it suits them. Otherwise they are part of my fanfiction related to the Duck Avenger and Darkwing Duck crossover, also related to the Donald Chronicles and the Quack Pack AU.
And the third drawing is kind of a redraw of the Spiderman meme about pointing out to others how they look alike, so I drew two versions of Louie Duck as a superhero. One is as Mantis Boy or rather Mantis Duck based on his TV and comic book superhero Mantis Boy (from the Quack Pack episode "None Like it Hot"), and the other is as Duck Avenger or Paperinix Junior or rather Green Avenger and they show each other why they are supposedly copying the same thing, since they are the same person, but they play different superheroes. Granted, Louie as Mantis Duck is not my version if you ask me, but from my friend who works at Quack Pack AU but where Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck grew up so this version is dedicated to her. Here in that drawing, Louie grew up as well as my version of Louie as the Green Avenger, who succeeded his uncle to be the Duck Avenger. In the drawing you also see what they say to each other. I just drew it in my own style in my own way.
I hope you like these drawings and my versions, as well as Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck being like superheroes. If you like it, feel free to like and reblog this (especially reblog), just don't copy my versions and my ideas without mentioning me. Also, don't copy the Mantis Duck version without mentioning my friend. Thanks! Once again, I wish you a happy Easter, a happy birthday to Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck, and a happy superhero day!
Also, this Mantis Duck version is dedicated to my friend @michimonie and her blog @quackpackau (although my version of Quack Pack AU is significantly different from hers), so I hope you like this.
