Fun little German updat:

We had voting day yesterday and the Nazis are now the 2nd strongest party in the Parliament.

You know, the one with the homophobic, racist lesbian with the Sri Lankan wife, and the history teacher who keeps accidentally repeating Nazi slogans with his little Hitler haircut. The one Musk has been loudly supporting and whose homophobic lesbian leader said Hitler was a communist.

And the conservatives are the strongest party which is its own little hell

I understand why professors say teamwork is important when justifying group projects, even though I know it’s really about grading less papers. I’m a reasonable person, I get it.

But if you’re an instructor on this app I raise you this: if the project is about teamwork, why isn’t my grade?

I’m being graded on the end result of the project, not the teamwork. Yet no amount of teamwork is going to make that end result strong if there are people in my group who simply don’t care. And no, that isn’t how it works in the real world.

When I worked on group projects professionally, there were things in place to set the team up for success and monitor our work:

- there was usually pre-designated project lead who had leadership skills or a strong background knowledge on the project

- our slack channels usually had a supervisor in them for questions and accountability

- in my non slack work places we had project check ins with a supervisor

-in some cases we had project feedback surveys at the end or halfway through

I’m 33, I have professional and leadership experience, I could do this project by myself in a week and get an A because I’ve done similar work professionally. I also have ocd so “taking over” is something I’ve worked hard to reduce and I’ve learned to balance with “step up step back”.

By not doing all the work for a group of 20 something’s who barely experienced high school, I actually am practicing teamwork and leadership. I’m giving them info and prompts to try to help, but some of them simply don’t care and are hoping someone else will do all the work. Ultimately they can get away with that because my professor is grading us on the quality of our work, not how we got there.

My attempts to get people to meet, the prompts I gave my team to help get conversations going, and the info I provided to them that they didn’t use will not be graded. My professor will never see our discord chat. Instead I’m being graded on the work ethic of others. How is this teaching teamwork? How is this grading team work? How is it actually preparing severely undersocialized students (my classmates missed most of high school due to Covid and it shows) for the workplace?

So if you’re a teacher, professor or instructor who genuinely cares about teaching teamwork and not just grading fewer papers, here are some suggestions:

-designate a project leader: let the team choose and give that person extra credit

-do project check ins, it can just be a quick survey monkey to give people a chance to “tattle” anonymously. You have to actually read them and follow up on issues though.

-mandate that the group chat stays in canvas or that you’re included in the discord chat, that chat itself should be part of the grade based on how much people participated in and lead conversations

-give individual grades. This means not just grading based on the end result but on each persons portion of it. If one person made the whole presentation that’s going to factor more into their grade. If one section of a project is better researched than another that should factor into individual grades.

-TEACH TEAMWORK FIRST: college isn’t about learning by trial and error, we’re typically given material to learn before being graded on an assignment that proves our knowledge of it. So many current students were not taught teamwork or other social skills typically gained in high school because of COVID learning, don’t assume they know how to do things you take for granted. If the project is team based because you feel teamwork is important, the least you can do is give some handouts on communication and planning strategies that are used in real workplaces. It’s unfair to be grading students on something you didn’t teach them / that isn’t a prerequisite for your course. If your course doesn’t have teamwork knowledge as a prerequisite why are you assuming your students know anything about it?

Was denken die Wähler: innen der Union eigentlich was jetzt passiert?

Dass die Union, unter Führung von Friedrich Merz, einen politischen Weg einschlägt der sich von der ewiggestrigen Politik der Union unter Merkel unterscheidet?

Einer Politik, die zu 16 Jahren Stillstand geführt hat!

Einer Politik, der die Menschen so überdrüssig waren, dass die Union abgewählt wurde!

Haben wir das alle nach nur 3 Jahren schon wieder vergessen?

Was soll denn der angepriesene „Politikwechsel“ der Union sein? Der genau gleiche, alte, konservative Mist wie in den Jahren 2005-2021?

Ich sag nur good luck an alle, die sich was gutes von einer Regierung unter Fritze Merz erwarten…

Es ist dieser Doppelstandard der Union der mich so fertig macht.

Die Linken können machen, was sie wollen. Konservative Finanzpakete vorlegen, die Milliarden Einsparen und Prüfungen von Instituten vorlegen, die von der Union gegründet wurden. Laut Union trotzdem: Das Finanzpaket "rechnet sich nicht".

Die SPD muss kompromissbereit sein. Kompromissbereitschaft sei der Kern der Demokratie. Inzwischen ist die SPD so kompromissbereit, wenn sie mit der Union regieren, winken sie nur noch durch.

Die Grünen müssen immer auf den Boden der Tatsachen zurückkommen. Selbst dann, wenn Windstrom den doppelten Preis von Gasstrom hat, ist eine Investition in Wind immer schlecht. Den Grünen kann man laut CDU nichts geben, sonst drehen sie durch.

Was macht dann die Union? Das Finanzpaket geht nur mit einem erneuten Wirtschaftswunder auf. Sobald die Grünen in billigen Strom investieren wollen, wird sich quer gestellt. Und wenn es zu den finanziellen Problemen der Bürger kommt, gibt man das Geld nur den Reichsten und vertraut auf die "unsichtbare Hand des Marktes", weil das ja sicher 10x wieder zurückkommt.

Die Partei war schon vor 10 Jahren gemeingefährlich. Das hat uns damals nur noch niemand geglaubt. Jetzt machen sie die Grenzen zu, fördern Familien nur, wenn sie Deutsch sind und mit Kindern haben und setzen ihr Vertrauen in wirtschaftliche Wunderwaffen.

Währenddessen sehen sie einen Linksruck in Parteien, die seit 50 Jahren dieselbe Politik treiben und Schmusen sich an die AfD wie an den Freund, vor dem du dir keine Sorgen machen sollst.

Wir müssen die Union abwählen. Als Konservative Partei existieren sie nicht, um den Status Quo zu untergraben, sondern um ihn zu erhalten.

Wahlwerbunganalyse 2025

YouTube Shorts ist ein schwarzes Loch. Es verschlingt meine Zeit, meine Aufmerksamkeitsspanne und meine Gehirnzellen. Immer wieder bin ich in den vergangenen Wochen in dieses Loch gefallen. Es ist Februar 2025 in Deutschland und das bedeutet für mich auf YT-Shorts nur eins: Wahlwerbung!

Es hat alles mit der unerlässlichen YouTube Werbung in diesem Wahlkampf begonnen. So unerlässlich, dass ich die Gesichter einiger unserer Volksvertreter*innen öfter gesehen hab als die meiner Freunde. Da ich personalisierte Werbung deaktiviert habe, folgte logischerweise die Idee deutsche Politiker aus der Werbung zu sammeln… wie Pokémon.

Also hier sind alle Politiker, denen ich seit dem 31.01.2025 in meiner YouTube Werbung begegnet bin:

Je näher wir der heutigen Wahl am 23.02. gerückt sind, desso massiver die Häufigkeit der Wahlwerbung. So krass, dass ich mich schlussendlich am 20.02.25 dazu entschieden hab, jede Wahlwerbung, die mir serviert wurde zu dokumentieren. Hier die Aufschlüsselung:

Insgesamt wurden mir 53 Wahlwerbungen gezeigt, davon eindeutig die meisten vom Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht mit ganzen 31/53, gefolgt von der AfD mit nur 8/53.

Die Politikerin, deren Gesicht ich am häufigsten sehen musste, war überraschenderweise Sahra Wagenknecht. Da das BSW keine einzige Werbung ohne sie machen kann, bekam ich Frau Wagenknecht insgesamt 31-mal zu Gesicht. Auf dem zweiten Platz folgt Alice Weidel, und im Anschluss Christian Lindner.

Natürlich gab nur so viel Budget für die verschiedene Werbespots. Diese Werbung von Alice Weidel wurde mir 6-mal gezeigt, das sind 75 % aller AfD Werbungen, die ich sehnen musste. Auch oft tauchte diese Werbung von Sahra Wagenknecht auf, ganze 12-Mal (39 %).

Ein spezial Shoutout geht noch an die Linken. Ich habe von ihnen keine einzige Wahlwerbung serviert bekommen, aber ihr YT-Account hat es regelmäßig und zuverlässig geschafft trotzdem in meinen Shorts aufzutauchen.

Die U18 Wahlen geben mir Hoffnung? Ich bin gespannt auf das Wahlergebnis und nicht vergessen Leute: Gegen den Faschismus! Keine Koalition mit der AFD!

The California Faculty Association is going on Strike against the California State University system!

They are fighting for:

Better pay so they can afford to live in the state they're teaching in.

More manageable workloads to allow for effective student support.

Expanded counseling services to improve students' access to mental healthcare.

All of which should be reasonable, considering:

The CSU's expendable net assets have grown from $3.3 billion in 2012, to $8.1 billion in 2022. If CSU management funded our bargaining proposals from their annual cash surpluses, they wouldn't even have to draw from these reserves.

Teachers can do the math, but CSU management is hoping you can't.

Y’all I started breaking out in hives in May and got diagnosed with Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria in July lmaooooo the past few months have been some of the most depressing times. My entire life was put on pause. Spent most of it rotting on my couch, canceling fun plans, and dealing with the ER, doctors and allergists. Avoided mirrors unless I had to document new videos and photos.

I finally started Xolair last week, so maybe the next 3 months will remind me what life is like 😂 but if anyone here has ever dealt with hives or has been on Xolair/knows anyone who has, pls pls pls tell me your input LOL
