Alley Drunk!Danny AU- Part 3
[Pt.1] [Pt.2] [Pt.4]
“Have you considered anger management classes?”
The Batman turned sharply, cape flaring out as he raised his weary fists in preparation for another fight. Only to pause, as he caught sight of a bedraggled man leaning against the pockmarked, water worn, Gotham variety stone of the abandoned post office. Non-hostile. Scent of booze, not strong enough to be fresh, but prominent enough for him to clock the stranger as a habitual drinker. Young. Sympathy softened Batman’s stance. Still, Batman kept his guard up. Good thing Robin was benched, he was off his game today if he hadn’t noticed the young man.
“Nevermind. You run around as a bat. Clearly anger management classes aren’t on your to do list.”
“What do you want.”
He’s young. Not as young as Robin, but… enough that it made Batman gentle his approach. The young man pushed away from his spot, fearlessly slouching towards him. Casual. Unafraid. How curious. Even Gothamites were wary around him, correctly assuming and witnessing his takedowns of Gotham’s Underbelly.
“You do this a lot, don’t you?” The bedraggled young man asked, head tilted neutrally at the bodies strewn around the Batman.
“Hm.”
“Why do you never swing by Crime Alley?”
Batman’s guard faltered at the blunt question, but he regained it quickly.
“I do.”
“You don’t.” The man disagreed amiably. He reached down towards the victims but Batman grabbed his arm in an iron hold before he could rifle through their belongings. The young man laughed and pulled back agreeably. “Is it classism, why you avoid us? The poor isn’t good enough to deserve protection from Gotham’s knight?”
“No. I do this for Gotham. All of Gotham.”
“…Well, there’s always room for improvement, I guess?”
The stranger pulled back and broke Batman’s hold, which had the vigilante sharply focusing onto the man. The stranger was strong, despite how skinny and starved he looked. Few people could casually break his hold and tonight, he added one more to the tally.
“You should tell your sponsor to look into creating job opportunities in Crime Alley. The problem isn’t actually the crooks,” the man told the vigilante, gesturing around them. “That’s just the symptoms. The actual problem is the poverty.”
“I know.”
“And yet, you still avoid Crime Alley.”
“Who are you.”
The man began walking away, throwing a dry “The Crime Alley Drunk, apparently,” behind his shoulder. When Batman took to the roofs to track him, the man had thoroughly slipped away.
“Agent A, did you catch that?”
“Yes, Batman. It appears you’ve gotten the wool pulled over your cowl by a rather mysterious youngster.”
Batman heard a younger snort of laughter. Robin. Who was supposed to be doing homework.
“Please stop making fun of me.” Batman sighed half heartedly.
“Not on your life, B.” Robin chirped.
——
“Ya talked ta Batman?!” Jason crowed at him, excited. Danny had done as promised and met him at the chili dog stand at the correct time, which increased his credibility in Jason’s eyes.
“Sure did. He knocked out like, five guys by himself. It was pretty cool.”
“Fuckin’ woah.”
“Right?” Danny smiled tiredly at the kid. He stayed up all night to pull his shit together, and outright bought an apartment for them to stay in. That safe had a lot of cash, after all. “Come on, kid. We’re heading back to base but before that, we gotta pick up a few things.”
“Like what?” Jason asked suspiciously.
“Like curtains in the color you like, groceries, and blankets and bedding, and general cleaning stuff.” Danny ticked off a finger per item.
“We killin’ someone?”
“What? No!”
“Ya said general cleaning stuff!” Jason defended himself. The raggedy kid peered at Danny cautiously, and brightened when Danny only snorted in amusement.
“Oh my ancients, you Gothamites. No, those are for like, actual cleaning. You know, for the apartment I just got you.”
Danny missed the burn of booze, but when Jason looked at him like the child he’s supposed to be had Gotham’s streets never laid its claim on him, Danny didn’t want to fail the kid.
Even if the kid thought he was buying chemicals to clean up a body. He’s the son of two mad scientists, he knows how to get rid of a body, obviously. As if he’d need chemicals to begin with, honestly. His ghost powers are quite versatile.
“An apartment?”
“Yep. It’s shitty, but it’s got all the utilities and I kind of miss having warm water to shower with.”
Jason straightened and trotted alongside the Alley Drunk with a little more purpose. People avoided them. Danny lead the kid to the apartment, handing him a key and letting him explore the sparsely decorated place.
“So, first thing’s first. You go shower. Then, we’ll go shopping for clothes, register you for school, get your school supplies, and grab some lunch. Not necessarily in that order, but ya know. And cleaning supplies.” Danny grinned.
Jason whipped his head around from where he was closely inspecting the windows for insulation- like Danny would let the actual kid live somewhere with drafty windows- and spluttered. Hope, fear, uncertainty battled across Jason’s face as he tried to say something. Danny watched Jason open and close his mouth several times before he finally managed to whisper something.
“I- I c’n go to school?”
“Yes. You are, in fact, legally required to do so, Jason.”
A pause as the kid grapples with the idea, of something he didn’t think he’d ever get to do. A grin bloomed over his face as he realized Danny’s sincerity.
“Then what are we waitin’ for?!”
“For you to shower. C’mon grubby, the shower’s that way. Towels are in the cabinet, and there’s some extra clothes in here,” Danny tossed Jason the plastic bag of clean kid’s clothes he bought from Gotham’s version of Walmart, a store that somehow had the energy of a Tesco and a Denny’s parking lot.
“Fuc- I mean- yeah! On it!”

Clearing out the drafts- feel free to continue ^^

Time for me to throw my ideas at you now >:)
Danny is extremely terribly injured and manages to possesses the Batcomputer as a means to hide in the system and slowly regain his energy. He acts as the Batcomputers AI in order to hide in plain sight.
Various ideas I got for this as a funky lil concept (u don’t got to use any but here are some ideas I drummed up:)
- it’s been over a decade and Danny is finally back to full power. One slight issue: Danny has been ingrained with the batcomputer for so long that he’s become one with the machine
- Danny can get harmed through the breaking of the machinery. One of the Bat’s coms break and they freeze as the other Bats hear the AI whimper in pain through their earpieces.
- they simply think that The bat AI became fully sentient and now treat Danny as part of the family and he’s too scared to leave the computer in the fear that they’ll hate him for lying to them and not actually being the useful AI they think of him to be.
- the Bats give him a robot body to help around the premises and are shocked that the AI apparently has superpowers like flight and shooting ice that they definitely did NOT build into the helper bot.
- A hero with superhearing comes into the cave and asks Batman why his computer has a heartbeat.
- Danny finally leaving the Batcomputer after a dozen years and having to break it to the Bats that the AI who cared for them and helped them was actually a real person.
I personally imagine this happening like, before Robin made his first debut. The entire family grows up with Danny as a shockingly sentient AI. Imagine the potential of that idea dude it could be so cool.
*AHEM*
Counter idea
Because Danny has become so ingrained into the Batcomputer that he can feel pain from it.
A virus
A very powerful one that is enough to get through the Batcomputer's pre-made firewalls with any of the bats and Danny himself noticing.
So now at random times he can feel his systems slowing down for no reason, files suddenly disappearing that he knows was there. Some of his systems actually hurt to use.
The Batclan aren't aware of this since 1) The systems slow down by such a miniscule percent that only Danny can really notice, and that's just barely.
2) Danny always manages to replace the lost files since he has them in memory.
3) The systems that Danny gets hurt by aren't ones that the Batclan use often, they still use them, just not as much.
So now one day, the virus after bidding it's time. Finally attacks the Batcomputers core. Y'know what that means? Danny also gets attacked.
He's been ingrained in the computer so long that he basically is and recognized as the core.
The whole virus takeover caused Danny quite a shit ton of pain, and it lead to Danny having to actually get out of the Batcomputer, else he might actually be stuck in the Batcomputer.
Now here's the kicker.
The virus came with him
Just like how Danny spent so long in the Batcomputer that he became fused with it.
The virus spent so long corrupting, deleting and glitching Danny and the Batcomputer, that it became part of Danny.
So, without the Batcomputer's systems to look after, the virus attacks Danny because he is literally recognized as the Batcomputer.
This leads to Danny having gaps in his memories, his ability to think slowing down at random times, being in pain and glitching(like actual glitching and it's quite painful too).
So, because Danny is quite literally alive and basically immortal, he might be stuck with the thing for, wel, basically forever.
But anyways.
So Danny flees the Batcomputer to escape getting trapped in it forever. But the one time he goes out, the whole Batclan is there.
Everyone would notice the cyber attack on their main computer and from the looks of it, it seems to have been going on for a while.
So every tech bat is on deck trying to fight and erase the virus. Now would you feel when you were trying to get a virus out of your computer, only for a kid to fly out?
Safe to say, the batclan wasn't amused with this development. So then they notice that, ever since the kid come out, the virus has gotten suspiciously easy to decode and erase.
So now they think that Danny is the virus.
Not knowing that most of the virus actually attached onto him, mistaking him as the Batcomputer core.
So I'll leave it here for you.
The world is your oyster

Ok, so I have an idea where Maddie “The Mad Scientist” Fenton becomes a Gotham villain trying to prove that Danny isn’t human. But I don’t know how to write Maddie and I have never written any Batman fic ever! Do you have any tips or suggestions? Im also curious on what you think of this idea, Vacation Crashers was my first introduction to DC DP crossovers which is probably my current hyper-fixation!
Aw Thank you! I'm so happy to hear that! Eek. Ooo that's a neat idea!!!! Kind of depends on how you want to go about it. VC was my first Batman fic too LOL to be honest I read a bunch of crossovers and looked batfam stuff up on tumblr, and read Wayne Family Adventures (its a free webtoon I suggest that highly because its so easy and it has a dad bruce) ANYWHO A story like that depends on what pov u wanna do or if u wanna switch it. IF its from Danny's and the bats, then having him already be apart of the family and explain events as u go, how he got there. OR you could have her become a villain while Danny still becoming a part of the family, being the reason his identity is revealed and the fam goes hella protective. So many ways you could do it actually XD. Could also do it from Maddie's perspective. But if your worried about accurately portraying characters, batman been going on for decades, it doesn't even have a sensible canon. So just pick what you like and run with it. But I think that be a cool idea. And then she be a terrifying villain too. LOL Bats joking that they're use to mommy issues. XD Mostly just write what you want to read! That's what I did with VC. If you can reread it and enjoy it. Your doing great! <3 Just have fun. Could even do it as a one shot too. Don't have to be extra like imp. @ w @''''

Okay can I just get a brief summary of Matt's character traits and like overall personality because I will not rest until I come up with a satisfactory casting choice for this son of a bitch
no man on earth can satisfy me as matt murdock he’s not out there. the closest anyone has come is young robert redford. find me a hot ginger dude that doesn’t look like he knows he’s hot, is preferably an actual blind person, would look good both put together in a suit AND mid mental breakdown. the man does not exist. but anyway MATT & CHARACTER
a self sabotaging bitch!!!!! he has a good thing and he loses it because he’s always trying to do so many things at one time that he can’t maintain all of them
will look at a woman once and fall in love. i make fun of him for having a lot of exes but he’s different to a lot of men in comics who’ve had 383628 girlfriends because when u read stuff with each one, you genuinely believe this dude is in it for good. he will not ask a girl out for coffee. he will fall in love at first sight and think about proposing on day 2. he leads w his feelings so much
BUT that being said he sometimes neglects those in his personal life because of his daredevil life. he gets caught up in one and the other suffers for it but he’ll never not be daredevil, i think one of my favourite things about matt is how hard he believes in his own nonsense. he’s tried not being daredevil and he can’t do it. there are so many matt quotes about how he was born to be daredevil, how daredevil has never been his problem, how he’s always gonna be daredevil and always has been
i make fun of him for being a little dumb which. he is. but he’s SMART dumb. it’s common sense he’s got a problem with but i think a lot of that comes from him leading w his feelings like i said. he’s soft, he’s very emotional for a male comic book character
he can be a little manipulative and controlling. like lowkey, and i don’t think he knows he’s doing it but. it’s in the way he doesn’t tell people like foggy or karen or kirsten ALL of the facts and it’s not because he doesn’t trust them but that Classic Superhero thing about ~~~protecting them. it’s been a point of tension in his relationship with foggy at times
canonically has depression. ppl write him very quippy sometimes and he is, but i think a lot of that a lot of the time is the character he makes himself. it’s the repression matthew how very catholic of you
speaking of. mr catholic poster boy has a lot of issues re: god and redemption and self worth and this kind of. religious self flagellation. it’s like he uses his religion that he CHOOSES in order to punish himself like. he is the only person who thinks his religion would place him negatively on the holy scale. like. he chooses to be that dramatic and masochistic
he’s very loyal and like. committed. he’s been surrounded by most of the same people for his entire career, and they’ve stuck with him. like foggy, peter, elektra, luke & danny. and the same wrt him being daredevil?? he’s never had an alias switch, he’s never changed his values for daredevil, he’s always done it alone (expect for sam chung but. good boy bad comic). he’s not a mentor like clint or a father like batman or etc etc. honestly he could do w being a little less steadfast because he causes himself problems
there’s a quote that’s like “matt always course corrects by overacting” and he DOES. shit goes downhill and hes like well fuck. and comes up w the most random shit. mike murdock??? being the literal mayor?? faking his death??? king if you could just sit down and think about it for like 5 seconds
if we’re talking looks wise. there are many different matts. checchetto matt is LITERALLY young robert redford. like. fluffy hair that’s a bit scruffy. chiselled but not in a way that makes u wanna punch him. just. friendly and non threatening. 8/10 matt. just think he’s neat
samnee matt is like. annoyingly handsome w the square jaw and the chin dimple w the perfect hair. but it’s not annoying to the point where i’d be like oh that dude looks like a dick i’m swerving that shit. like. he has frat boy with a heart of gold vibes. would help someone cross the street. also samnee matt always seems Bigger to me. like broad shoulders and taller. cant explain it. very clark kent who definitely isn’t superman. anyway. a 9/10 matt. the most ginger of them all
og matt. i WOULD probably punch og matt. he was kinda smug. like classically handsome. 50s husband vibes. irl i would be mad at myself that for thinking he’s kinda cute but i would still let him open doors for me. 7/10 matt. a couple points just for being a classic
maleev matt. i love maleev matt glasses like if i can say one nice thing about the show, it’s that they did the round glasses. maleev matt is a bit of a mixture of samnee matt and og matt but with some darker vibes thrown in. and maleev matt always looks like whatever he’s going through at that time. his hair grows in proportion to how miserable he is BUT he does have the ability to be very like. suave lawyer handsome. 7.5/10 matt
what’s important for all of them is that he’s gotta look pretty when he cries. if the dude you’re considering wouldn’t look good crying in front of a stained glass window then he’s not it

First of all, research on the circle of hell on earth, because you can't go to war without some fucking research, he had learned that the hard way.
You can’t plan for shit if you don’t have good info.
Confiable sources are key.
They needed to sort this out. ASAP.
If his sister. Would. Just. Cooperate.
“You raised me constantly telling me that information is your best weapon & shield and now you are telling me to chill?? The Fuck, Jazz. ”
“I’m not telling you we should Stop, Danny” Jazz explained, waving her hands around to illustrate her point. “I’m just telling you we should slow down. If the FBI Man catch onto this-”
“How do you know it's a man?”
“Dan. It's just a meme.”
“It could be an asexual alien working for the government behind this screen and you would never know-! ”
“Fine! What if the asexual alien government worker caught us-?”
“They are not going to catch anything, Jazz.” Danny retorted, waving at the cameras above the computers “See? I put tape on the cameras.”
His sister gave him an unimpressed stare.
“And I have Tucker as back-up. I’m not an idiot.”
“It’s been sixteen years, brother.” Jazz sassed back, “And I’m still not sure about that-” She dodged her brother’s sloppy try at slapping with a yelp and threw back her own sloppy bitch slap.
Things dissolved quickly into a slap fight from there.
And that was it [for the underpaid asexual alien worker.]
 -.-.-.-
 They would need Travel Plans™.
They lived in bump fuck nowhere Illinois and they had to get to Gotham. Jazz’s scholarship covered bus tickets. His scholarship didn’t because it was still a new thing on the G.A. and normally only the Gothamites bothered to risk applying because they were already in the city.
Extreme measures must be taken.
“Are you seriously flying all the way to-?”
“Jazz, please.”
“But-”
“Jazz!” Danny whined.
“Okay! Ok!”
 -.-.-.-
Living arrangements. What’s better than picking the sweet, sweet home?
“We don’t have to pick, Danny. That’s what the dorms are for.”
“Where are we putting all the Ghost Tech?”
“...In rental storage?”
“Safe rental storage? On Loony Town??”
“...”
“And with what money?”
“If we don’t have enough for rental storage, what makes you think we can afford anything else apart from the dorms? ”
“...You got me there.”
“Hmm...”
“...”
“...So. We can get back to this later, or-?”
“Yes, please.”
 -.-.-.-
“Did you know that Gotham was declared ‘no man’s land’ some years ago?”
“Our entire town got dragged to the depths of purgatory Danny.”
“Calling the realms purgatory is not exactly-”
“Pur-ga-to-ry, Danny.”
Danny huffed.
“Fine”
 -.-.-.-
“I recognize looking up information on the richest man in Gotham might be useful, somehow, but don’t you think looking up the man’s children would be a bit stalkerish?”
“They are rich. You can’t trust rich people.”
“Danny, whatever post-traumatic stress disorder and trust issues Vlad has caused you-”
“Jazz that’s not it and you know-”
“-can be properly acknowledged if we-”
“Ok, fine! I won’t look them up!”
“Thank you.”
 -.-.-.-
The number of heroes working in Loony town had been rising in the last years. Considering the amount of shit going on in the place, it was only logical. There was plenty of demand.
And there had always been Batman, which was the first one and worrying enough all on itself. himself.
Then again they had to deal with a psychotic clown throwing parties in the middle of Loony City so maybe they would be distracted enough to notice some cold spots. Hopefully.
Either way, Danny was not going to Gotham to play the hero role. He was going to take care of his sister and help her figure out a way to deal with the ghost zone better. Because dealing with ghosts was one thing, but humans? Humans were a whole other bag of worms that, if possible, he wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole
Gotham had enough heroes running around, they could deal with their city and Danny would focus on his sister.
Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
 -.-.-.-
 Human treats.
Ugh.
He had little experience dealing with living human threats. Jazz assured him it would be similar on the core, but it was easier said than done.
As long as the Gothamites let them alone, it would be fine.
But he would not only need to worry about the citizens, he would have to worry about the freaking threats in the asylum. He would have to make some scouting when they got there and decide on a game plan.
He really hoped Gotham wasn’t an attractive place for natural portals, because that goddamn place would be haunted to hell and back by now if the city had anywhere near the same concentration of ectoplasm Amity Park had. There were just so many, many things that had gone down in that place.
 -.-.-.-
“-And hear this, it says and I quote ‘many millenniums ago, an evil warlock was buried alive beneath what would one day become the central island of Gotham-”
“Please, stop.”
“But It’s a goddamn island Jazz, what if they blow up the bridges again-!”
“Oh, for the love of God-”
 -.-.-.-
“Oh my god, I forgot about Ellie.”
“Danny-”
“How the fuck could I forget about Ellie-?!”
“Could you calm down-?”
“She is practically my goddamn daughter-!”
“Well, considering you let your barely-one-year-old ‘daughter’ travel the world unsupervised It’s not really that surprising-”
“Jazz, you are not helping!!”
“Don’t get me wrong, I know she is quite the capable little hellion, and Vlad was the one who made her so-”
His sister had gone suddenly quiet, exchanging her —unsuccessful— attempts at calming him down for staring blankly into one of the walls of the room. Danny didn’t know what caused this reaction, and he didn’t care, as long as she kept quiet and just let him-
“D-Does that make Vlad the mom?” Jazz whispered weakly with all the air of someone who had just gotten a horrifying revelation.
Danny choked with his own tongue.
“JAZZ!!”
 -.-.-.-
 So, packing.
What really are essentials anymore, really?
“I mean the modified thermos will take care of most of our things. The only part of the packing that was worrying me was the ghost tech, and, well-”
“That’s why you asked Iris for a bag, right?”
“...”
“Danny?”
“No. I wanted to reverse engineer it.”
“How are you even going to reverse engineer that thing? It’s like a magicky ghost bag of wonders, I can’t even-”
“That’s for you to see and for me to keel over.“
“...I really hope you know that’s not how the phrase goes.”
 -.-.-.-
 Spes Ultima Dea
‘Hope is the last thing to die’
That was the inscription carved on the jewelry box. Judging by the greek design it was probably Pandora’s doing, though the snowflakes mixed in with the flowers, leaves, and swirling lines carved along in the wood showed that Frostbite had contributed to the ‘packaging’ as well. At least this one didn’t have a bright green fanged skull on the lid.
Or contain all the world’s evils.
Jazz, who had been silently cursing him for a while now, dropped her moody mutterings when she saw him grab the box. So now they were going through the jewelry together.
“So what’s up with the ghost jewelry then?”
“These are the replacements for Pariah’s old artifacts.“
“The what-?” Jazz made a double-take.
“I told you about this Jazz, the Observants wanted me to wear the damn things. I didn’t want to. Bla Bla Bla.” He drawled on in a bored voice.
“Yeah, but I thought you just had refused to wear them.”
“God, I wish.” Danny sighed “We had to compromise.”
“Ok. So which ones-? She asked looking over his shoulder to the wood box with golden details on his hands.
“Well, this one is from the Far Frozen, they took care of the crown.” He said, showing her a pair of silvery wrap around earrings “The letter said they called them ‘Winter’s Song’” Danny finished with a hum on his voice.
“And these ones are from the Acropolis, which got the ring” He continued, grabbing two matching silvery bracelets from the box. Jazz made grabby hands at them and Danny passed them over. “Their name is-” Danny paused, pursing his lips and reaching for the letter on the bed to read the name again.
“-’The call of Elpis.’” He finally revealed, at Jazz’s raised eyebrow he continued.  “Don’t ask me, there is nothing in here explaining and I have no idea.”
“Course you don’t”
“Hey!” He protested, but Jazz just continued examining the silver pieces. Danny deflated and joined her on the examination.
“Don’t know why they made them pairs, or if they are even silver but-”
“They are beautiful.” she finished.
He hummed in agreement
“Is that a cornucopia-?” Jazz asked, bringing one of the bracelets closer to her face.
“A what”
“It has a legend, the cornucopia was supposed to be a source of endless food and drinks-”
“Couldn’t they have sent us the original then-?”
Jazz glared
“I’m just saying-!”
“It’s a symbol of abundance, Danny.” She berated him “They are giving you their best wishes.”
Danny would have said that wishes didn’t feed him, but he was not in the mood to risk it.
“What about the others?” Jazz asked, referring to the other pieces that were still in the jewelry box.
“I suppose you could say they are protective charms, of a sort. Those are for the both of us. Mostly for you, tho. You are going to need them.”
Jazz accepted the answer, and thought to herself that she should have seen something like this coming from Danny, he had been worried about her since she shared her college plans after all.
What she wasn’t quite accepting was the lack of explanation on the names of her brother’s last new piece of jewelry.
She grabbed her phone from the nightstand and started browsing for answers.
The name just had to have some sort of meaning-
Oh
She looked up from her phone to send a long look at her brother, whose tongue was poking out of the corner of his mouth while fighting with the clasp of one of the bracelets. She smiled fondly.
Pandora's hope, uh?
 -.-.-.-
“Do you think Batman is a Vampire, tho?”
Jazz rolled her eyes. Aaaand he ruined it.
“Do I look like I care?”
 -.-.-.-
Danny was seated on his desk chair, glaring fiercely into the void.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm trying to glare the nether gods into striking me down."
"Danny." Jazz sighed from her place on his bed. Hearing her brother say that was- This was unbelievable. "I'm not finishing all the work alone."
“I know. Is just-” He halted mid-sentence to purse his lips. A slight air of defeat entering his already slouched posture.
“Just what?”
"We could have used clockwork's help" The redhead raised an eyebrow at the response.
"Could we? I mean normally it takes a Long Time to just find his tower. And that's because it's you searching for it. No one would find him otherwise. Except for the Observants, they can do it faster, but I don’t think you are desperate enough. Would it be worth it tho-?
"No. Not like that." Danny interrupted her, not breaking his glare but voice in a complete deadpan. "We completely forgot about his gift."
His sister blinked a pair of times. Considering. And then her eyes got progressively bigger as she connected the dots.
"The time medallions" She gasped in realization.
Clockwork's time medallions.
The pair of time medallions he had gifted to her brother on his last deathday.
The ones that clockwork had refused to say what they were for but had probably been gifted to Danny with this exact purpose in mind.
Jazz groaned, facepalming and letting herself fall onto the bed to curl into a ball of red hair and utter defeat.
Danny, who hadn't moved an inch since the beginning of the conversation just groaned back in sympathy.
She rolled over onto her back and started to glare into the void too.
"I feel like ClockWork is laughing his ass off right now."
 -.-.-.-
 He was.
-.-.-.-
ENDNOTES:
Why would asexual aliens be the best option to be The FBI man?? 'Cause they are not interested in your dirty. Just the juicy, juicy human gossip. -.-.-.-
Ellie is coming, people. Everything will be fine.
-.-.-.-
I already wrote part of the Batfam, the Fenton siblings, and Vlad's meeting plus some extra guests.
As in, that’s not their first time meeting because they had already met individually(I haven’t written all) before that scene.
BUT this one is with EVERYONE there. The first time all of them are in the SAME place, at the SAME time. and I’M JUST- laughing my ass off? This is going to be chaotic.
Angst who? Not this time Satan.
-.-.-.-
So Elpis for the greek and to pass a fast one by oblivious Danny, and then when I searched "Call of hope" for the giggles google said it was a Christian organization and I was like: Brah
The other one is "Winter's Song". I wonder WHY
Hope and Winter, I like the sound of that. Can beat the shit out of rage and fire any day.
I will describe them both in detail later because it just seemed awkward to put such a meticulous examination when Danny just grabbed the things to put them on so he wouldn’t lose them or something. Which he can’t. But that’s for later.
Also, I got bored.
-.-.-.-
Clockwork is just vibing on his tower by this point.
The Timelord deserves some fruity cocktails and some Hawaiian leis for dealing with the Bald-Voldemort's-cousins-eye-heads.
And I'm giving them to him.
Can you see him watching the siblings scrambling all over the place?? All flowered up??? Laughing at these silly children?? and taking little sips of his Fruity Vodka Party Punch???
I can. It's quite a sight.
-.-.-.-
In the Latin American DC fandom, they call Damian ‘Bolita de Odio’ which translates to ‘tiny ball of hate’ but it sounds so cute on Spanish ‘bolita’ adhfkfhkadsljfladsk I love it when they call him that, it makes me squeal.
You can literally search on google: ‘bolita de odio’. And you will get Damian. This is so fuckin’ ridiculous and I love it.
Same with Jason but they call him: 'Palancas locas' which is 'crazy crowbars' because of- you know, how he died.
-.-.-.-
If you are interested. A list of almost confirmed main & background ships for this fic. Just in case it's a deal-breaker? :L
Jazz/Jason [JJ Elizabeth for the win]
Kitty/Ember [Queens]
Harley/Ivy [The Ultimate Queens] (Ember would murder me for this if she found a way to break the fourth wall, *chuckles* ‘I’m in danger.jpg’)
Cass/Kicking ass [Edit: got an Idea now! :D But: Spoilers so hush-hush]
Bruce/Selina [Not leaving their lives for the other? what? Who is leaving a part of themselves behind? no one, that’s who. Don’t worry pals, Alfred and the fam got this.]
Dick/Kori [There was a moment there when I thought about Babs/Dick BUT the sibling feels overcame me. One of my favorite ships, when I was a small little bean, were these two in Teen titans (2003) so we are going with 2003 Starfire for this :3 (But, I suppose if you like the other design better you have the right to visualize her like that. Whatever makes you happy *kissy face*)
SO we are going with Babs and Dick as best friends, and Babs teasing the shit out of Dick because Batman never taught him how to deal with girls and those first years with Starfire were a shitshow. I’m going to pretend they NEVER had anything sneaky going on for the fic’s sake and what I want to pull off here.]
Tim/Coffee pot [I don’t know about Tim, yet. Give me ideas or I Will be shipping him with the coffee pot.) edit: you know what- no. I thought about something better. Never mind this-]
Danny/Coffee pot [Just kidding, you know it’s Damian :) :) :) *Twodudessittinginahottube*]
There are other ships. BUT I’m not sure if I’m going platonic or romantic with some of them- also, I don’t want to tag those yet because where would be the surprises? the drama? the out of nowhere feels?? where? so, yeah.
(I’m also thinking about shipping Vlad with a Certain Someone. The man deserves to move on. (In this fic in particular. I mean THIS fic. Ha can stay in space in Canon))
You have been warned. -.-.-.-
Have you seen Dick’s & Kori’s little girl??? My fucking heart can’t take this.

For the fanfic ask: D, S, and U ;) thanks!
For wornquillsandspilledink’s Fanfic Ask Game:
D: Is there a song or a playlist to associate with your fics?
Hmmm… I’m not a particularly music-based writer - a lot of my inspiration comes from other stories, or visuals, or personal experience.  Usually musical associations come afterwards, once I’ve got a scene/character fixed well enough for a song to resonate with them.  It also means that I tend to associate songs with fic-moments, characters or fandoms-in-general rather than with a single entire story.  So, a list:
As mentioned before, the opening Instrumental of the Disturbed Sound of Silence Cover is a good match to the ambience of YJ:DW Chapter 15.
Coldplay’s Paradise gives me angsty S1 Artemis vibes.
For Danny Fenton, Coldplay’s Gravity and Simple Plan’s Astronaut get the sad feels going.
Most Imagine Dragons songs tend to make me think YJS1 due their being used in a bunch of super talented fan-animations and AMVs.
More broadly the general emotional tone of ColdPlay’s Fix You and The Fray’s You Found Me kind of underscore sadder, heavier moments of writing.
There was a lot more Sad™ and Coldplay in there than I expected.  Whoops…
S: Any fandom tropes you can’t resist?
I’m one of those annoying Tropes-are-Tools-not-Guarantees types so there aren’t many tropes I can confess to seeking out for their own sake, or deliberately inserting into all of my stories.  That said, I tend to be pretty characterisation-focused (even though I like long-fics to have some kind of accompanying plot too), and there definitely some tropes/patterns I’ll gravitate towards:
Believable Depictions of Grief/ Trauma and Healing/ ClosureI enjoy finding stories that actually address the hard experiences or losses that characters have gone through, that the process is messy, and ways they might attempt to work through/ around it, while still letting them be themselves, have moments of levity, live their lives and eventually reach a point of closure.  Grief depicted like this is weepy, delicious, catharsis and I am here for it.
Trust and RevealsI can get a bit frustrated with stories (especially crossovers) that have characters just know or decide to immediately overshare secrets and personal information.  Always more satisfied when those secrets are treated as secret by the narrative, with characters having to sleuth it out or build genuine respect and trust before learning/earning the truth.
Intrigue and the Suspense of AnticipationLove me some Fair Mysteries.  Also when creators are willing to play games with the audience, letting us reach the answer ahead of the characters and wait in anticipation for the penny to drop.  Good stuff.
Actual Communication and MisunderstandingsThere’s a certain sort of masochistic anticipation that comes from seeing two or more characters end up in conflict because their own personal biases and hang-ups are causing them to misrepresent and/or read  things into the other person’s words/behaviour that aren’t actually there.  Usually followed by either a fight or moment when someone says something that throws that misinterpreted reading off-balance and the whole truth ends up being brought to light and resolved.  I also like this because it lends itself well to grey-on-grey conflicts; no clear “good vs bad” but instead all sides somewhat sympathetic and somewhat at fault for poor communication.
Character studiesKind of self-explanatory: stories that focus in to put the microscope on a single character’s emotional reactions to, and reasoning behind, specific canon behaviours/ events make me happy.  The more believably close to canon-characterisation the happier this gremlin will be.
U: Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.
Fair warning: I tend to read pretty widely, so this has the potential to balloon into a huge list. While I could definitely recommend some of the classic fandom bigs like BNHA’s PitViperofDoom and Laquearia, or DP’s Haiju (all of who deserve it and you should check out if you haven’t), I think I’ll take this chance to ping some writers from older/ wider fandoms:
tactfulGnostalgic’s Into the Spiderverse The Family Brooklyn Series.  Hits a lot of my personal trope favourites (character studies, reveals, believable depictions of grief, actual communication, accepting oneself) and also because oh my gosh that prose.  There’s an almost Markus Zusak-ian quality to their writing at points and the rest is just impeccable and fun.  Also packs some really good snappy dialogue.
skyflower51′s Skyrim storiesI really enjoy the environment design, side-quests and lore of Skyrim, and Skyflower51 does a great job of writing interesting characters to fill the blank-slate player-insert MC position, fleshing out in-game plot-lines and characters with much more nuance and detail by having a specific personality from within that world interact with and push them beyond what the limited RPG writing would allow, as well as exploring the possible identity/responsibility issues that come with being thrust into the role of legendary hero.  If you want a look at what Skyrim could be if written as a fantasy world instead of a videogame backdrop, these will probably scratch the itch.
Blackfriar’s Young Justice storiesOh hey, a fandom I actually write for.  Lovers of fluff will want to tread carefully here, as their stories are frequently rated M for angst and violence with good reason.  That said, if you like white-knuckled suspense, horror and anguish, or seeing Batman, Robin and Kid Flash being trialled by difficult situations both in and out of uniform, these will certainly get you your fix.  They also have some crossovers with Under the Red Hood which may satisfy those disappointed by YJ’s lack of Jason.
Also want to give a quick shout to Daruku Janubu/ DJAnubis, whose art for the TTxDP fic Turning Tables was what first got me into fanfic, and whose own story, Unfair Justice, made me cry.
Thanks for playing!

off the rack #1313
Batman: Three Jokers #3 - Geoff Johns (writer) Jason Fabok (art) Brad Anderson (colours) Rob Leigh (letters). And so this story ends with the one true Joker back in custody. Joe Chill was used as bait for a trap that Batman couldn't resist walking into. The love letter to Barbara from Jason was pathetic. Jason should have slid the letter under her door instead of using crappy dollar store tape to stick it on her door. Even if the tape hadn't failed, someone could have taken it off the door before Barbara saw it. The melodrama made me cringe. Then we find out at the very end that Bruce knows Joker's true identity but doesn't say who it is. Bruce going to Alaska to check up on the Joker's ex-wife and son was an eye roll moment. The biggest event of this conclusion is that Joe Chill is finally dead. RIP Joe Chill.
Superman #26 - Brian Michael Bendis (writer) Ivan Reis (pencils) Danny Miki (inks) Alex Sinclair (colours) Dave Sharpe (letters). In part 2 of "Mythological" Synmar arrives on Earth and attacks Superman. Clark has no clue why but he wants to find out. So here's the thing that bugs me. If Superman can save the Daily Planet building from being destroyed by his battle with Synmar by popping both of them into the Phantom Zone, why can't he just zap all of his super villain opponents there whenever the bad guys show up? Easiest way to save the Earth ever. I predict a major slugfest and then Superman and Synmar will come to a peaceful understanding and the alien will go home happy.
Batman #102 - James Tynion IV (writer) Carlos D'Anda (art pages 13-16) Carlo Pagulayan (pencils) Danny Miki (inks) David Baron (colours) Clayton Cowles (letters). "Ghost Stories" part 1. Batman grapples with the Ghost-Maker when the new vigilante targets Clownhunter for execution. A flashback shows us that Bruce has a long history with whoever Ghost-Maker is, which means that the bad guy knows Bruce is Batman. Every time I see Ghost-Maker's costume, I get stonged by MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This". It's the pants.
Action Comics #1026 - Brian Michael Bendis (writer) John Romita Jr. (pencils) Klaus Janson (inks) Brad Anderson (colours) Dave Sharpe (letters). "The House of Kent" part 5. This issue was super annoying. Let's start with the long winded recap by Brainiac 5. Then the page layouts that made you have to rotate the comic to read them. The muddy art made me wince. I groaned when time traveller Brainiac 5 from the 31st Century said he didn't know about this battle between the Superman Family and the Parasite from another dimension that's happening in the 21st century. How convenient that this event isn't in Brainiac 5's history database so he can't help the good guys win. The last panel where Lois Lane gets arrested by the FBI…pure cheese. I'll still read this as long as Doug subscribes to it because it's almost better than not having any comics to read.
Detective Comics #1029 - Peter J. Tomasi (writer) Kenneth Rocafort (art) Daniel Brown (colours) Rob Leigh (letters). "Who Are You?" is the title of this issue where a new bad guy is introduced. I got stonged again when the song by The Who invaded my brain. The new villain is called The Mirror and he reminds me of one of the cops from The Watchmen TV series what with the mirror mask and all. He wants to unmask all of Gotham City's heroes and reveal their secret identities. Good luck with that. Is mayoral candidate officer Christopher Nakano The Mirror? He wants to ban Gotham's masked vigilantes. Could be, but I still think Nakano is The Ghost-Maker. The best thing in this issue is the return of Damian the Boy Wonder on the last page. I've missed the little shit-kicker.

honestly justice league was far from being bad idk what it is with people who get their freak on bashing the DC universe and I’m not even saying that the movie was perfect like I have several issues with it which I will talk about later but going into this movie I expected it to be a mess like suicide squad but I did take the story seriously and I did love the new characters. my issues are:
The music. Danny Elfman needs to be fired with his rehashed 90s Batman movies like don’t get me wrong I loved the first two instalments with Michael Keaton but the music is kind of corny and it made JL feel sooooo dated. The only good music comes directly from BvS the rest lacks impact like I want drums I want bass get ur tired ass violin out of this fighting scene u bitch! I literally cannot get over how annoying the soundtrack like it’s either a lazy choice or misplaced nostalgia bc the universe are too different for this recycling bs
The editing at the beginning and at the end of the movie which also ties with the tired ass soundtrack DE half assedly put together. The beginning felt corny/lazy/out of place and the end felt rushed. I think it’s because a lot of scenes got cut out but whatever ill reserve my final thoughts on that for the directors cut version
Other than that I must admit that as far as “uniting a bunch of egos together to fight an existentialist villain who wants to murder everyone” type of movie goes this was a good one and I liked the Barry/Victor pairing. All in all I liked it a lot more than its direct competitor in the category which is the Avengers franchise because the characters are more interesting imo. Not the movie of the century but still entertaining and not cringe worthy. Also the Amazons in their metal bikinis? For fucks sake AJSKDJ why would u go into battle with evil aliens with nothing but ur boobs and crotch covered? anyways movie review/rant over I’m gonna watch Blade Runner tomorrow and Thor:Ragnarok next weekend inshallah

Defenders #3
This issue was alright.  But definitely not as crazy pumped up as all the hype was about.  For months, this cover has been leaked and thrown out there in the ads.
We do see The Defenders vs. The Punisher...  But it’s not even remotely as exciting as what we see here.  But I guess that’s par for the course.
Still.  This ended on a great note, and I am looking forward to the next one.
So let’s figure it out.  What’s up with The Punisher?  And what’s going on with Diamondback and the Defenders??  Where is all this coming from, and where is it going?
[SPOILERS]
It starts with Diamondback being a little prophetic, while meeting with Black Cat and some henchmen.  I could’ve done without that and gone straight to him asking why she saved Luke Cage’s life.
“It’s good for business.”  She says.  Then she reveals that if Luke died the way that Diamondback intended, then all of the Defenders, the Spider-men, Inhumans etc. would go after him.  I found that to be interesting.
I can’t tell if they’re her henchmen, or his, but either way, guns are pulled on her and Diamondback postures.
“You come here to show me you ain’t scared a’me.   It shows me... You’re too scared not to.”  [Wait... what?]
Cool action goes down.  She defeats the 4 henchmen easily.  Then she reveals that “...I didn’t let you kill Luke Cage [because] he’s a good man.”  “...a guy like him deserves better than a guy like you.”
She walks away and Diamondback tells her to keep this attitude up.  “...I don’t see this ending well.”
She retorts.  “Well, you’re five steps ahead of me-- Do something about it.”
[Ooh.  Interesting development.  So... while she’s sort of the villainess, bad ass in Spider-man, she’s something of a gray Anti-Hero here, when it comes to Luke Cage specifically.] - I don’t quite know where this is going, but I do sort of like it.
We cut straight to our 4 Defenders, who wake up in the Night Nurse’s hospital beds again.  The Punisher definitely shot them at the end of the last issue.  He just didn’t kill them.  As Daredevil explains, “Those bullets were nonlethal but prepared for us.  They were meant to paralyze us.”  Ah haah.
I’m skipping a bunch of panels, where so many random civilians, and cameos from either Jess’ book or other favorites like Misty Knight, Black Cat and others bring up what they know about Diamondback.
It turns out that Punisher wanted to know, as the last people he talks to are these two random Italian thugs.  He was about to kill them when they didn’t have any information for him, but that’s when Daredevil and Luke chime in to beat him into calmness.  More accurately, Luke puts him in a sleeper hold.
...basically, they weren’t looking for him.  They bumped into him at this random, undisclosed location.  And as far as Punisher is concerned... well, I can’t really figure out his motivation here...  Other than the fact that “I DON’T TRUST PEOPLE IN MASKS!”
[Oh, cool...  That’s why you went ahead and shot them for no reason??]
...This issue ends with Jessica Jones trying to snap pictures of Diamondback, but getting caught.  Iron Fist is in the car with her, so naturally this turns into a pretty cool 1-on-1 battle, while Jess stays in the car.
Exceeeept, Danny Rand didn’t do too well in this battle.  In fact...
At the very end of this issue, Diamondback broke his back!!!
-To Be Continued-
What is this, 1993 Batman vs. Bane???
Damn dude!
Was not expecting that.
So far this book is very action with little substance, but I can get down with it.  For the most part.  I have a feeling more things will get deeper, once Bendis has the time to really flesh out this Street Level Marvel U.
In the meantime though, each issue has had an exciting ending, so...  He’s got that going on for him.
Until Defenders #4.  I am Very curious as to how all this plays out next.

Crash Course | Chapter 03: Ready?
Fandoms: Danny Phantom, Batman,
Relationships: Danny Fenton & Jazz Fenton,
Characters: Danny Fenton, Jazz Fenton,
Words: 2′246
Tags: BAMF Danny, BAMF Jazz, Sibling bonding, Shenanigans, Swearing
Summary: He swore his sister was trying to make him go into cardiac arrest - considering his halfa status that was quite the accomplishment-
But there was no other explanation to his sister’s stubbornness, and if he knew her at all there was just no talking her down from interning at goddam Arkham.
A/N: I appreciate the comments, guys. :33  Let me know what u think.
CHAPTERS: 1, 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7
Danny might not be the smartest person out there but he sure was crafty as fuck.
He had needed to be even before the ghost entered the picture. Then, after the portal was up and running the habit of thinking on his feet and the fine art of rolling with the punches had been added to his skill set.
So, Danny knew from experience that no matter how good you could get at improvisation, it was always better to prepare beforehand if you had the opportunity. Because if you let something to chance, it would probably come back later to fuck you over. Or some annoying ghost would get in the way out of goddamn nowhere. He could deal with them, but it was just a waste of everyone’s time. Better get going before someone interrupted him.
Normally one small thing or another would backfire anyway because of his salted luck, but he preferred not to poke sleeping dragons when he could.
Taking into account all of that, he had decided the first order of business in the Fenton Crash Curse for Suicide Missions: Start packing all the shit they would need to take with them.
Because It’s never too early to pack for the road to hell.
Especially if you are already in a hell all of your own.
-.-.-.-
“What do you mean you are coming with me?” Jazz murmured from the threshold of Danny’s room, eyes wide open, as she watched her little brother try to pack all types of random things into suitcases.
Since she had announced at the Fenton Family Dinner her plans of going to Gotham University and accepting an internship at Arkham, Danny had been behaving like he was possessed, which considering the portal in their basement was not that far fetched; he had started carrying around a book-like-journal and would not stop murmuring about survival-of-the-fittest. Jazz was not going to lie, she appreciated the concern but that part was a little bit concerning. Not the survival in general, they had been playing that game since forever in this house, but they had never really needed to write anything down.
Until now, apparently.
It was kind of weird witnessing all this. Weird as in she wasn’t used to him fusing so much over her. A normal amount, yes. But most of the time it was the other way around, she was the big sister after all. Also,  with the ghosts around and him going all hero on their behinds her brother was in dire need of all the support she could dispatch. So, yes, she wasn’t expecting this reaction at all, and she was even less prepared for her brother declaring his intentions of joining her in Gotham.
She hadn’t asked how he was planning on dealing with the ghost problem yet, but considering he was already packing when she, they now, weren’t leaving until the end of the summer Jazz thought her brother must have had something in mind already.
She didn’t even know how they could need some of the things he was putting in there but it appeared like Danny was on a roll and she wasn’t going to be the one stopping such, umh, productivity.
“I said what I said”
Jazz frowned lightly.
“Are mom and dad aware-?”
“I told them I was going to be your assistant with the research; mostly the field part because I don’t think they trust me with the equipment after what happened the last time,” Danny answered while still hunting down for more essential items to put in bags, those things were handy as fuck. “also, get a job or something”
“A job?” jazz raised an eyebrow and leaned against the doorframe.
“It’s on the list,” Danny waved his journal/diary/thing in the air. Huh, so they were survival tips. “considering you are the only one with a scholarship and I´m not going to school anyway it seemed appropriate.”
“excuse me? you are not going to what?”
“May as well-” Seeing his sister’s expression he quickly backtracked, “but I mean, if you are really that opposed there is always online classes”
Danny tried to smile in her sister’s direction, but his nervousness made it come out more like a grimace. He kept trying. Jazz kept staring at him. Danny kept grimacing back.
Then she smiled back. A proper, full toothed smile. Oh fuuck
“I think I can do you one better” And with that, she turned on her heel and left.
Danny blinked two times. one after the other.
“D-Do me one bet-? Jazz, wait!”
But it was already too late, his sister had another ball to start rolling.
-.-.-.-
Her brother was not stupid.
If her brother choice to appease her by taking online classes had been born merely of a strategic need, and hence the best course of action to take, Jazz wouldn’t have rebuked at all, there were, after all, some pretty good online options that her brother could take. But alas, that was not the real motive of his decision.
It pained her and enraged her to see people belittle her little brother without even knowing him. See them think they had any right to decide whether he was worth something.
And it nagged at her than even knowing the basics of what was wrong with her brother’s low grades, she couldn’t help him more than she currently did. Not really. Unless she wanted him to end up in the hands of the G.I.W.
Fat chance of that.
But if there was a thing a Fenton was not it was a settler. And like hell she was going to let these people bring her brother down.
The first order of business would be to scout out the G.S.U. properly, some phone calls could prove useful, after all those who search shall find.
-.-.-.-
When Jazz had retreated to her quarters earlier Dany had been left on his own with an uneasy feeling nagging at his gut. It felt a bit like foreboding.
Like most things in life that inconvenienced him when it came to family issues he decided to ignore it until it came back to bite him, so he continued with his preparations and eventually took a seat among all the clutter that had become his room. After that, he didn’t have to wait long.
His sister had come back strolling decisively into the room, only pausing briefly to warily give the evil eye to the sheer number of things spread all over the room that appeared to have multiplied since she left the place.
She stopped right in front of her brother’s seated form and trusted her phone into the smallest Fenton’s unsuspecting hands.
“Look! There is still time to apply to a full-ride scholarship at Gotham Academy” Danny blinked up at her without a word, and at his sister’s insistence looked down at the phone to start reading, then he did a double-take and started re-reading.
Jazz had got to be kidding him.
“You want me to apply to some posh elite school?” He looked up incredulously at the redhead “Elite, Jazz? Me? With my grades and the amount of time I would get to study for an entrance exam I would be failing this just by applying.” grumbled the boy.
“That’s the best part.” Said the girl smiling like the Cheshire cat. “This particular exam is practical in engineering”
Danny froze. His eyes shot back to the phone.
“Practical you say?”
“Yes, lately there have been more scholarships granted for demonstrating a great gasp in the practical portions. Gotham is a little, umh, hard to handle, I suppose, and there have been situations in which people with the knowledge to accomplish great things have been turned down because of a lack of proper school background or support. So they decided to start implementing this.” She explained while her little brother continued scanning the document up and down.
Eventually, Danny shook himself back together.
“Ok, look, let’s say I had a shot at this.”
“Which you do-”
“Which I might.” The younger interrupted her, “This still requires to prepare at least three proposals for the faculty’s designated table of judges to evaluate and grade to get the green card, and this is like two weeks -two weeks!- from now, it doesn’t even specify what they are gonna have the applicants doing for the final test. How the fuck am I-?!”
The redhead decided to cut in before he could drive himself into a frenzy.
“Well if you are that sure about joining me then you won’t have a problem acing this, will you?” she smirked, then it softened into something more fond. “I know you can do this Danny, and so do you. And if you are that worried about the time, I can help you, we can start tag teaming together for ways to deal with the ghost from the get-go. It may not be permanent, but it will have to do.”
Her brother started biting his own lower lip and still looked somewhat unsure, so she decided to use the final big gun.
“Did I mention that Gotham Academy is right across the road from Arkham?”
Danny’s shoulder slumped.
“Ughh, fine!”
Jazz beamed down at him.
“I will leave you to it then!”
-.-.-.-
“Also, those things are not going to fit anywhere if you don’t organize them”
“Oh, ye of little faith.”
-.-.-.-
So. Jazz did have a good reason to believe her brother could get the G.A. scholarship.
The Fenton thermos technology was not only useful for capturing ghosts but could also store other things. That’s to say, more tangible things.
And her brother was the one who made it happen.
Danny has been tinkering with his parent’s things a lot more than some people would be comfortable with. The truth is, some of the things Jack and Maddie have invented could be fucking useful for everyday life if you took out most of the ghost shit or rearranged them a bit, it could have gained them a pretty penny, but like we all know the Fentons are not interested in anything if it’s not ectoplasmic.
Danny, on the other hand?
As much as he ends up believing all the bullshit others say about his sister being the only genius child of the family, he had never been afraid of dismantling and mounting up again some of his parents’ equipment. For him, it was not a question of whether or not he was qualified to do so, after growing up watching his parents tinker random machines all over the house he had inevitably started to pick up their ways almost as if via osmosis.
His parents, of course, had never fully noticed the fluffy-sweater clad toddler waddling after them from time to time watching them work, at first this happened when Jazz was otherwise occupied in extracurricular activities and couldn’t keep the boy successfully distracted somewhere else.
If at the time, Jazz had realized what was going on, she may have panicked and stopped her sweetly feral summer child of a brother from getting anywhere near their parents in the middle of a craze. As it was, she had not noticed in those first years, and by the time it had come to her attention even she had to concede that if her little brother had managed his recon missions without no one the wiser - Her brother was sneaky like that -, then he deserved the benefit of the doubt.
And, had that not been enough to convince the big sister, that had been the moment the sudden realization than her brother, unlike her, was more of a hands-on learner hit her full force, which would have been enough to make her relent. Learning was always good in her books.
Later, Danny would find most of the classes being imparted in Casper high boring as fuck. Not necessarily for the subject, but the way they were imparted. The youngest Fenton needed a good explanation along with a hands-on approach applied to something he found interesting to fully commit to something. At school, the most he could get were the theory and the occasional practical classes.
If the classes had been related to something interesting, say, rockets, stars, maybe NASA, it would have been easy to pay his full, unconditional attention to the teachers. But not one of the teachers had bothered to try and link the lessons to the interest of the alumni, not surprising, considering public school stuck to basics and had a timeline to complete and the classroom never seemed to learn things at the same rhythm so concessions had to be met.
It was still boring as fuck. But if he wanted to someday make it into NASA he would have to suck it up and force himself to survive with relatively good notes this torment.
Then the ghost fights had entered the picture and his motive to keep up the grades had all but vanished, and the little time left behind to work with was not enough to make, at least, an average grade. He didn’t have enough reasons to strive for more.
For this though? A new chance far from the ghost and he could keep protecting her sister?
He had the brains. He had the passion. And a good damn motive to drive him forward.
Once he was done, the luggage - and Loony town - wouldn’t even know what hit it.
-.-.-.-
NOTES:
Also, the thing about Jack & Maddie not trusting Danny with the equipment was one of Danno’s secret tries at messing around with the things. Needless to say, that one time didn’t stay a secret.
Oh well, it was not like he asked for permission in the first place.
-.-.-.-
“fluffy-sweater clad toddler”
Not gonna lie, I made myself crave some cuddles from toddler danno, so. fucking. cute.
There he goeees just waddling like a little duckling asdfghjkl
-.-.-.-
If someone here is a fan of the Gotham Academy Comic I greatly regret -not really- to inform you I’m only taking hostage the place for my evil fanfic purposes. I don’t know if there is going to be references but that particular comic is not the focus of this story, SO. You have been forewarned.

off the rack #1296
Monday, January 13, 2020
I knew my dad had an older brother living in Edmonton but I've never met him. I was introduced to him recently when my cousin sent me a picture of Uncle #2 taken while he visited with him and his other cousins there. I showed my dad the picture of his brother and his face lit up in a big smile. He hasn't seen him in decades. Uncle #2 is 91-years-old now and he and dad are the only surviving children from grandpa's first wife. I was glad that I gave my father that moment of happiness.
Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy #5 - Jody Houser (writer) Adriana Melo (pencils) Mark Morales (inks) Hi-Fi (colours) Gabriela Downie (letters). The trail to the Floronic Man leads the ladies to Manhattan's Central Park where they are met with a surprise. No, it's not Batwoman who guest stars this issue. It's a great cliffhanger to next issue's finale.
The Immortal Hulk #29 - Al Ewing (writer) Joe Bennett (pencils) Ruy Jose, Belardino Brabo & Cam Smith (inks) Paul Mounts (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). Roxxon sets a trap for the Hulk and it works. This is where monsters dwell. The scene with Betty and Bruce in the cafeteria was great.
The Dollhouse Family #3 - M. R. Carey (writer) Peter Gross (layouts) Vince Locke (finishes) Cris Peter (colours) Todd Klein (letters). We catch up with Alice as an adult while the flashbacks to the past shows us some weird creatures in a cave. The dollhouse makes a couple of appearances in each point in history but we don't learn much more about it. It's still really creepy though. The last page came as a total shock. I like this DC Black Label book.
Excalibur #5 - Tini Howard (writer) Marcus To (art) Erick Arciniega (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). This is the payoff issue for the first story arc and I'm out of here now. My biggest complaint about this book is that I find myself wondering what the heck is going on as I'm reading. I feel disconnected with the action because of the different locations and all the mutants involved. There's a major change to a major hero so you may want to stick around to see where that goes.
Young Justice #12 - Brian Michael Bendis (writer) John Timms (art) Gabe Eltaeb (colours) Wes Abbott (letters). It was nice to see Warlord even though he was only in 4 pages of this massively dialogued issue. This book had just as many heroes running around and different locations for action as Excalibur #5 and yet not once did I feel confused or disoriented. I loved how all the Wonder Comics heroes were brought together. Especially that Miguel, the Dial H for Hero kid changed into a Miles Morales-like super hero at the end. This 12-issue run was Fun with a capital F.
X-Force #5 - Benjamin Percy (writer) Joshua Cassara (art) Dean White & Rachelle Rosenberg (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). There's plenty of force this issue as Domino and Forge go to rescue Wolverine and Kid Omega. This new thing where every mutant can be resurrected if they die has me wondering when I'm going to get tired of writers killing characters just for shock value. Plus, the mutants can't lose now. So what if you die on a mission? I'm afraid I'm going to get bored with these characters again until the next big change.
Catwoman #19 - Joelle Jones (writer) Geraldo Borges, Aneke  & Inaki Miranda (art) FCO Plascencia, John Kalisz & Laura Allred (colours) Saida Temofonte (letters). Selina comes to the rescue of family and friends and is partially successful. I like the new costume.
Black Cat #8 - Jed MacKay (writer) Dike Ruan & Annie Wu (art) Brian Reber (colours) Ferran Delgado (letters). What a great issue. The Cat and the Beetle go on a heist and we get some background on Felicia's life. It was fun until the last page when things get serious.
Conan Serpent War #3 - Jim Zub (writer) Luca Pizzari (art) Frank D'Armata (colours) Vanesa R. Del Rey (art James Allison sequence) Jean-Francois Beaulieu (colours James Allison sequence) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). There's a mysterious force manipulating everybody in this story and I'm staying with it until I find out what it is.
Star #1 - Kelly Thompson (writer) Javier Pina with Filipe Andrade (art) Jesus Aburtov (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). Kelly's name in the credits made me give this a try. I'm not a fan of super villains being the star (har) of their own books but there are two women also in this comic book that I really like. If they're not enough to keep me reading then the God of Mischief certainly is.
Daphne Byrne #1 - Laura Marks (writer) Kelley Jones (art) Michelle Madsen (colours) Rob Leigh (letters). This is another creepy comic from the same imprint that puts out Basketful of Heads. It's 1886 in New York and Daphne is a very intelligent young lady who doesn't fit in with the others at Miss Farrow's School for Girls. Her mother is a patron of a psychic who claims to have communicated with Daphne's dead father. That may be a hoax but her dreams seem to be all too real. I miss seeing Kelley Jones's art on the racks so I hope to keep reading this book as it comes out.
Ruins of Ravencroft: Carnage #1 - Frank Tieri (writer) Angel Unzueta (modern day art) Guiu Vilanova (flashback art) Rachelle Rosenberg (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). I saw the ads for this and didn't think I would be interested but I liked the art when I flipped through it so took it to read. Other than being connected to Carnage from the title I didn't know anything about this comic book, but seeing Misty Knight on the second page meant that I had something familiar to anchor myself. And then Mayor Wilson Fisk shows up. Ravencroft is New York's version of Arkham Asylum and it was a major location during the Absolute Carnage story. It's being torn down to be rebuilt and this issue gives us the history of the evil ground that it's built on. This establishes that the Venom and Carnage symbiotes have been around since forever because the history starts in the early 1400s. I don't know where this series is going but I liked it enough to want to check out the next instalment hitting the racks January 15, Ruins of Ravencroft: Sabretooth.
The Clock #1 - Matt Hawkins (writer) Colleen Doran (art) Bryan Valenza (colours) Troy Peteri (letters). Again, it was the art that prompted me to pick this off the rack. I first appreciated Colleen's art in 1983 when she put out "A Distant Soil". I loved her detailed pen and ink work in black and white. Here she is in colour and it still moves me. Her expressions really convey what the characters are feeling. The story is about a cancer epidemic and the threat to the world's population seems credible. I'm going to follow young scientist Jack to see how he saves the world.
Marvels X #1 - Alex Ross & Jim Krueger (writers) Well-Bee (art) VC's Cory Petit (letters). I really liked the first Marvels series by Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross showing the Marvel U through the eyes of regular people. This latest story features a young super hero fan named David trapped in his house after what seems to be the worldwide Terrigen Mist event when Marvel tried to make the Inhumans a big deal. David's entire family is lost and now he's off to New York City to find his heroes. I liked the kid so I'm going to follow his adventures.
Miles Morales: The End #1 - Saladin Ahmed (writer) Damion Scott (art) Dono Sanchez-Almara (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). This $4.99 US one-shot really is the end for Miles. He lives to be a ripe old age and goes down fighting. I would only recommend this for collectors of all things Miles.
Deadpool #2 - Kelly Thompson (writer) Chris Bachalo (pencils) Wayne Faucher, Livesay, Al Vey, Jaime Mendoza, Victor Olazaba & Tim Townsend (inks) David Curiel (colours) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). I don't find Wade's new role as King of Staten Island, where monsters dwell, to be very interesting so I'm not going to read anymore of this. Much as I like Chris Bachalo's art, it's not enough to keep me coming back every month.
20XX #2 - Jonathan Luna & Lauren Keely (writers) Jonathan Luna (art & letters). We find out what newly minted Sym Meria's power is and how she's going to cope with it. The developments with the East Side and West Side gangs and Meria's new friend are interesting enough to make me want to read the next issue of this black and white book.
Fallen Angels #5 - Bryan Hill (writer) Szymon Kudranski (art) Frank D'Armata (colours) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). The team is set. Psylocke leads X-23, young Cable, Husk and Bling to Dubai to fight the super villain Apoth. The foreshadowing on the last page ratchets up the anticipation for the next issue.
The Amazing Spider-Man #37 - Nick Spencer (writer) Ryan Ottley (pencils) Cliff Rathburn (inks) Nathan Fairbairn (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). Now that Absolute Carnage is done, it's time for Peter Parker to get back into the swing of things. He's testing a new device called the Clairvoyant that can predict what might happen in the future. I predict it's going to screw up his life big time down the road. The one thing I'm excited about is that a plotline that was put on the back burner is now cooking with gas. Kindred is back and he's hinting at how he's going to confront Spider-Man. As big a Spider-Man fan that I am, I still have no clue who this new super villain is.
Batman #86 - James Tynion IV (writer) Tony S. Daniel (pencils) Danny Miki (inks) Tomeu Morey (colours) Clayton Cowles (letters). Let's welcome the new writer. He's got a tough act to follow but he starts his first story off very well. Batman gets wind of something big going down in Gotham City and has to deal with paid assassins gathering for nefarious purposes. There are major changes to get used to, the least of which is that Alfred is gone. Same with James Gordon, and the new Police Commissioner was a surprise. I probably would have continued to read this book because the art is so nice. Selina in the LBD at the fund raiser, MeeOwww.
Savage Avengers #9 - Gerry Duggan (writer) Patch Zircher (art) Java Tartaglia (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). Conan holds his own as Doctors Doom and Strange battle Kulan Gath. When Stephen is felled by sorcerous venom Doctor Doom comes to the rescue. The amalgamation of the two Doctors was a fun surprise. If would be cool if the Iron Mage stuck around after this story.
Joker: Killer Smile #2 - Jeff Lemire (writer) Andrea Sorrentino (art) Jordie Bellaire (colours) Steve Wands (letters). The doctor is out, of his mind that is. The Joker has gotten into Dr. Arnell's head in this psychological thriller. I don't imagine that things are going to end well for the good doctor in next issue's finale. Thanks to Doug for lending me his copy to read after we sold out on the racks.
