Although it's late by two days, Happy 24th Anniversary to the Escaflowne the Movie: A Girl in Gaea! This action-adventure anime film with breathtaking animation hit Japanese movie theatres on June 24th, 2000 and later appeared in cinemas in Europe in 2001 and in North America in 2002.
Here is a selection of official promotional art for the movie found on the online art gallery Minitokyo.
In my opinion, the story and characters are not nearly as engaging in the movie version but the animation is amazing. I also like the character designs and the earthy sword and sorcery aesthetics with an apparently Central Asian and Japanese cultural flavour. What's your opinion of the Escaflowne movie?

Gaea's Embrace: A symphony of Death and Decay.
Summary : The product of Lord Huron and Hoziers Songs, which I drew inspiration from and you can listen to below -
a/n : Blame @achaotichuman for encouraging me, also I wrote this in a flurry, not proofread.

Beneath the crescent moon, a solitary figure wandered through the enveloping shadows of the forest, where the crackle of dried leaves and the soft sigh of the wind were the only audible companions in the stillness. The air hung heavy with the scent of damp earth and decay, a fragrance both alluring and ominous, weaving through the ancient trees whose gnarled branches etched dark silhouettes against the starlit heavens, as if recounting tales borne in the Chaos of distant epochs.
With deliberate steps, the figure moved as if in reverence, each stride a deliberate caress of the earth beneath. Eventually arriving at a clearing, where wild grasses sprawled untamed, a verdant tapestry amidst the heart of the woodland. Here, they reclined, surrendering to the cold embrace of the soil. Above, the night sky stretched like an infinite canvas adorned with countless celestial jewels, forging a fleeting connection with the boundless Ouranous.
In this sacred stillness, the flora and fauna of the shadowed ecosystem stirred. Mosses of deepest green and black crept nearer, their tendrils delicately entwining around limbs with a gentle, persistent touch. Luminous mushrooms bloomed nearby, their caps casting ethereal glows in the moon’s pale embrace, their spores perfuming the air with an otherworldly aroma. Fungi in shades of violet and bordeaux wove intricate patterns amidst the grass, their presence a haunting blend of beauty and eeriness.
Unseen, yet omnipresent, bacteria began their silent choreography, dismantling the boundaries between the figure and the earth. They murmured of the secrets veiled within the dark loam, of the eternal dance between life and demise. The figure listened, finding solace in their whispered revelations, feeling the ancient rhythms pulse beneath their form.
Drawn by the inevitability of transition, denizens of the forest’s depths approached. Beetles with iridescent carapaces, worms aglow in moonlight, and other inscrutable beings commenced their ritual feast. They moved with a grace that belied their task, stripping flesh from bone in a solemn communion, drawing sustenance from the essence of the figure. This process, neither rushed nor cruel, unfolded as a natural ballet—a reverent return to origins.
The earth seemed to exhale in acceptance, enfolding the exposed bones in a gentle shroud of soil. It consumed them with fervor, reducing remnants to dust and earth. No fear lingered within the figure, nor regret; only tranquility, a profound merging with Gaea’s dark heart, an acceptance of the inevitable cycle.
As the night progressed, the clearing underwent a metamorphosis. Where once a solitary figure lay, they now melded seamlessly with the earth, indistinguishable from the mosses, mushrooms, fungi, and verdure that surrounded them. The soil whispered of its sacred offering, of the new life poised to burgeon from this communion with mortality. The forest, ensconced in its spectral allure, thrived amidst the poignant beauty.
Thus, the figure’s essence became an integral thread in the tapestry of eternity, their final thoughts not of loss, but of profound unity. They had surrendered to the radiance of perfection, willingly merging with the chill embrace of the earth, discovering a hauntingly beautiful eternity within Gaea’s embrace.

“Oh, shoot, sorry. Go back to sleep. Sorry.”
Nico shifts, blinking the sleep out of his eyes. The light in the infirmary is low, and strangely soothing. It’s almost hard to keep his eyes open. But he manages, rubbing his knuckles under the curve of his eyesockets, and searches in the dark until he finds what woke him up.
Will stands a couple feet away from his bed, figure curled and shadowy, owlish eyes wide and almost unnaturally reflective in the dark.
“‘S’okay,” he mumbles. “Couldn’t really sleep anyway.”
“Oh.” There’s a shuffling sound, and suddenly Nico feels warmer where Will has stepped closer. “You in pain?“
“No. Just bad at sleeping.”
“Hey, me too.”
Surprise at Will’s easy admission and a little bit starstruck at the bright flash of Will’s grin, Nico doesn’t have the chance to beat himself up over being so flippantly open. His teeth seemed to glow as much as the whites of his eyes, which would be creepy, except it’s hard to feel anything but calm as a cool night breeze wafts the scent of lavender from the sill planters in every inch of the infirmary, and it’s hard to think of Will as anything but warm. Especially the hand he places, briefly, on the curve of Nico’s knee.
“Insomnia?”
“Something like that.”
“Still. Sorry for waking you up.”
Nico hums, fiddling with his skull ring. “Why were you up, anyway?”
“Oh, I won’t have time to sleep for another couple days.”
There’s a mellow cracking sound, and then all of Will’s knuckles begin to glow a soft, sunset yellow. Nico startles.
“Apollo thing,” Will explains. A smirk is now visible at the corner of his mouth, forcing a dimple on his right cheek. In his hands, almost hard to see under the glow, are three small vials of something Nico doesn’t recognize. “Getting meds and salves in order.”
Hesitantly, Nico drags his gaze away from the clinking glass bottles, forcing himself to meet Will’s eyes. They’re ridiculously bright. Is that an Apollo thing, too?
“Why does that mean you can’t sleep?”
Will gestures to the myriad of occupied beds outside the curtains Nico has pulled up. “Shitton of injured, man. I got way more people than I got stuff. I prepped for the Romans beforehand, obviously, but I didn’t have a good hand on their numbers and didn’t prep enough. I’m short on supplies. Haven’t slept since Gaea did.” At Nico’s look of alarm, he quickly assures, “But don’t worry, I had Cecil brew me something strong. It’s disgusting, so I think it might be his Coffee Redbull Matcha Heartstopper Special, With A Shot Of Crushed Caffeine Pills For Good Measure, but I’m not sure. Hands are only a little shakey, though, feel.”
In a mirror of a few days ago (fuck, Nico hopes he’s kidding; how long can people go without sleep?), he darts out and rests his hands under Nico’s. Sure enough, they’re trembling, although nothing nearly as bad as before.
“Dangerous levels of sleep deprivation aren’t as bad as delivering a baby, huh.”
Will shudders. “Don’t even joke.”
He looks so genuinely horrified that Nico can’t help but laugh. All they’ve seen, all they’ve suffered — and golden boy is gagging at the miracle of life. If Nico wasn’t so sure that he’d seen at least as many gory nightmares as Nico, if not more, he’d tease him for being squeamish.
…Actually.
“What kind of school nurse wannabe is squidged out by birth?”
“Nurse?” Will squawks, snatching his hands away (Nico finds his own hands, strangely and suddenly, cold). “I didn’t go to seven years of med school to be called a school nurse wannabe!”
Nico narrows his eyes. “You didn’t go to med school. You’re fifteen.”
“As I said.” He grins teasingly. “I didn’t go.”
It takes Nico a second, but when he gets it he cannot physically hold himself back from kicking him. Solace, weak from muffled laughter, stumbles sideways into a lamp.
“Ay! Be careful, you wanna kill the camp’s only brain surgeon?”
“If he’s being annoying,” Nico bites back. He can’t quite stop smiling, and he’s embarrassed about it, but thankfully the darkness hides his face. “There’s no way you’ve done brain surgery.”
The shitty cot Nico’s been coerced into camping on for the next three days creaks as Will perches on the edge of it.
“Have so. In the woods, two years ago, removed a brain tumour. Stressful as shit.” He flashes another sideways grin. “Couple dozen more medical emergencies under my belt, and I might actually be as qualified as a nurse in this country’s garbage medical system. Thank the gods for them, honestly. They do a shit lot more than a lot of doctors claim to.”
Sensing the topic change for what it is, Nico doesn’t press any further. “That what you wanna do?”
“Aw, man, I don’t even want to think about it. The idea of someone else running this infirmary gives me a stress ulcer. Y’all do a lot of stupid shit and frankly some of the procedures I have performed exist in no medical textbooks anywhere, medical or no.” He snorts. “Anyways.”
His hands are blazingly warm again, almost like sun through a maginifying glass, when they pat his shin twice. He stands, stretching — more bursts of light appearing along the length of his spine, lighting what his fading knuckles leave out.
“Try to sleep again, Neeks. You’ll need it.”
“Maybe I should be the one to say that to you,” Nico says. Will waves his hand dismissively, and in a fit of impulse Nico reaches out and grabs it, meeting his raised eyebrow with a stubborn set to his jaw. “I mean it, Will. No one’s awake right now. I just woke up. Why don’t you crash for an hour or so? I’ll wake you if anything happens.”
Will hesitates. “If anything happens, that’s on me. It — I can’t let it be on me.”
“Do you trust me?”
Stupid question. Of course Will doesn’t trust him, Nico let someone die in front of his eyes, Nico is the bringer of death and darkness, why would he —
“Yeah.” Will sighs. Nico looks up, startled, but the medic is eyeing one of the few spare cots, face screwed up in consideration. “You’ll wake me?”
“Immediately,” Nico assures hastily. He nods his head at the bunk next to him. “Sleep, man. You look like you need it.”
“Oh, well, just what I’ve always wanted to hear from you. You look stunning, by the way.”
Nico knows it’s a joke, but he flushes anyway. Thank Hades again for the dark infirmary, and the length of his hair.
“Whatever. Sleep or don’t.”
“I’m going, I’m going.”
In seconds he’s out of his flip-flops, slightly-scratchy blankets turned up and wrapped tightly around him all the way up to his neck.
“Thanks, Nico. I owe you.”
In the next breath, he’s out, all that’s visible of him the flutter of his light eyelashes and the tangled mop of blond hair. He snores, slightly, with every puffed exhale; a tiny, stuttered sound, not unlike a cat. It’s kind of cute, and Nico’s smiling before he realising.
“You don’t owe anybody shit.” He shakes his head fondly, leaning back onto his pillows to keep an eye out. “Goodnight, Will.”

i have a few thoughts about how the lost hero actually sets up the darker tone for HoO really well and then. well. there was never any follow through.
now some of my hindsight about TLH is probably fueled by nostalgia (i actually am really fond of tlh and also i was 14 when i read. impressionable on my teen brain). i’ve reread it several times, but i have really strong memories of the first time i read the book too, and i just remember it having a very gloomy, dark vibe to it. (the way that TTC is set in winter and definitely feels like a winter book, this is the HoO equivalent for me.)
looking at the actual contents of the book, the book starting off with jason's pov, who has no idea who he is, so immediately the feeling is 'oh shit. something happened to this guy. and it's not good.' and then almost immediately after that, getting sucker punched with the “she's been looking for one of our campers, who’s been missing three days…her boyfriend. A guy named percy jackson.” percy??? thee percy jackson. MISSING???? (look, that put 14 year old me flat on the floor. it still hits. but in 2010 when we had no idea percy was going to even be in these books….you kinda just had to be there okay.)
alongside jason, we have piper, whose dad got kidnapped by a giant and she'd being blackmailed! all before she finds out she's a demigod!! like she's already having a ROUGH time. we find out leo was manipulated by gaea to use his flame powers, which resulted in the fire that killed his mom (genuinely wtf).
their quest starting the lead up to the second great prophecy, which is happening so soon after percy's great prophecy (like they JUST finished fighting a war. give them a chance to breathe dammit. but also implying that some major things stirred with the defeat of kronos. But how could there be something more horrifying than kronos?).
their quest taking them to all these abandoned and/or cold places (the run down wolf house, they're hiding in the sewers at one point, the cyclops lair in that abandoned warehouse, the cave where they shelter from the cold and where the hunters of artemis find them, boreas’s house being in canada, even the mall where they meet medea being empty iirc). jason being abandoned by his mother. piper feeling abandoned by a father who doesn't have enough time for her. leo being alone too (not his mom's fault she died; not his fault for the fire; but he's alone nonetheless). even their primary mode of transportation being flying on festus feels strange and out of the place, bc for so long, we were seeing through percy's eyes and he had to stay on the ground.
and then to end the book with jason dying, however briefly. literally a dead man walking from the very beginning.
the tone was something different and darker, and combined with percy, hazel, and frank going to alaska, the land beyond the gods, in SoN, we were really venturing into unknown territory. it felt like our heroes would be tested. that gaea truly was something to be feared, even more so than kronos, and that it would take the generation's seven greatest demigods to defeat her.
and then it never followed through with that set up.

Leo Valdez x reader
request from @beeeezmelmel for a Leo Valdez x reader
prompt 10: “I can’t sleep”
words count: 1.4k
pairing: Leo Valdez x g!n reader
A night time walk to bunker 9 leads you and your best friend, Leo Valdez, to a confession of your true feelings. Could this friendship become something more?
——————————————————————————————————
A/n: hi darling and thank you for requesting! I honestly had so much fun writing this one cause Leo is one of my comfort character! And I find it a really realistic thing that (I wrote the thing with the reader saying the prompt’s sentence) you would definitely find Leo awake at every hour of the night. I wrote this as an eventual friends to lovers, enjoy! 🧡 Also, I’m slowly catching up on all my requests, school is going to start soon and I have lot of test and such for the end of the period, so hope no one is disappointed if I don’t answer their requests really fast, sorry again!
——————————————————————————————————
Loud thunders echoing through the night had woken you up before your nightmare could. Not like your rest had been the easiest, but surely things were getting better after the war with Gaea.
You jolted up straight in the bed, catching your breath while your eyes adjusted to the dime light coming from outside. It was dark and nothing other than the moon was there to lighten up your vision. Luckily enough you hadn’t woken up any of your siblings, you already knew they would have asked too many questions about how you were feeling.
So you decided that maybe taking a breather outside would have been a good solution to calm down your mind from the recurring nightmare that plagued your sleeps. You tiptoed out of bed, almost tripping in the blankets. Careful to not make any noise you slipped on a pair of sneakers, without tying up the laces, of course, and you made your way outside of the g/p cabin.
Chilly air hit your skin as you exited from the door. Gods, now you were even shivering from the cold. You let out a soft sigh before starting to walk, making sure to go unnoticed by the harpies that flew in the sky at night, you surely didn’t want to face Mr. D’s punishments.
You didn’t really know where to go. Well, you did knew who would have been able to cheer you up, but you weren’t sure if he was still awake, or if he would have cared about your stupid nightmares. You decided nonetheless to give it a try, and as you hugged yourself tighter to shield yourself from the cold, one step after the other you started to make your way to bunker 9.
Why bunker 9? Because you were confident that if he was still up, which you suspected, then he would have been surely working on some project of his in the old bunker.
Between the wind blowing the leaves on trees, and the far sound of the thunderstorm outside of camp’s borders, you quietly made your way to the hidden building in the middle of the night.
As you arrived you silently entered through the main entrance, finding yourself in a lot more hot environment, that immediately warmed you up.
Just a little bit further there was him. Sitting at one of the many tables there was Leo, who was working on some gadget of his. Beside him there was Festus, who was laying comfortably on the ground. He was the first to spot you.
You honestly would have just stayed there at the entrance, just enjoying the scene playing in front of your eyes, but the mechanical dragon had other plans.
“Come on, why won’t you work??” Leo asked to the thing he was working on, and Festus tried to get his attention by gently blowing some air onto the boy. “Not now buddy, I’m busy, can’t you see?” Answered Leo, clearly trying to find out a solution.
So this time Festus actually nudged him to get his attention. When the child of Hephaestus still ignored him, the mechanical dragon insisted slightly more, getting Leo to finally pay him attention. “What is it, huh?” He asked as he patted the dragon’s head.
Festus brushed him off, and pointed in your direction.
You could have sworn you froze in place in that moment, completely caught off guard on what to do. “Hey…” You meekly said, the room didn’t seem as hot as before.
Leo’s eyes widened when he saw you “Y/n? Are you okay? Something happened?” He gently asked as he got up and approached you. “Y-yeah, I’m good, I just… I happened to pass by… yep…” Why did you have to say the first thing that crossed your mind?? You were pretty sure that you were a blushing mess by now.
If Leo noticed he didn’t point it out. “Passing by? In the middle of the night? Let me tell you, that would be strange even for me.” He joked, trying to lighten up the mood at least a bit. “Holy Hephaestus, y/n you’re shivering!” He then noticed, and before you could find another good enough excuse he pulled you by the wrist and made you sit on the only couch of the bunker.
“You want to see what I was working on?” He then asked you with his signature smirk as he lighted up some candles that he had laying around. You doubted those would have kept you warm, but you appreciated the gesture.
“Sure thing.” You nodded. This was the thing with Leo. He understood when you didn’t want to talk about something, and he didn’t pressure it. He’d just let you be, and if you wanted you could talk about it.
He moved to the table and picked up the thing he was working on “This buddy over here won’t let me adjust him” he said frowning as he tried once again to adjust it. You chuckled, Leo was able to ease your worries in an instant.
He plopped himself besides you and showed you the small gadget. You passed a hand over it. “What is this supposed to do?” You asked him with curiosity and he started explaining. “Well you see, I projected him because I thought it was a good idea for…” as he talked you totally zoned out, simply staring at him as he talked.
You blamed it on your ADHD, but in reality you had the biggest crush on the guy since he had arrived at camp.
“And so, even if I figured out what doesn’t work I can’t seem to adjust it” he concluded and snapped back to reality. Shit, you had missed the whole explanation.
“That sounds interesting” You simply commented as he put down the small thing and scooped closer to you. “Yeah, until you don’t have to work on it” he said with a smile.
You stayed like that for a bit, embraced by the comfortable silence until you spoke up. “How come you are still awake?” You asked him, tilting your head to be able to look him in the eyes. “I can’t sleep” he answered you truthfully. “What about you?” He the quickly added “If you want to tell me of course”
You let out a sigh “I just… I have this nightmare that has been plaguing my sleep since the war with Gaea and I needed some comfort. I didn’t want to wake my siblings up and… I assumed you would have been awake, and I came here” you concluded, looking down at your hands, unsure of what he would say next.
Instead of the negative reaction you had expected on his face appeared the biggest smirk “So you thought of me to feel safe?~” he was so smudgy about it. You just chuckled “Yeah… you could put it like that.” He smiled “Well then, I’m glad” He wrapped an arm around you “I’m here for you if you need me, that is what… friends… are for, right?” If you hadn’t been so busy feeling defeated after he had defined the two of you ‘just friends’ you would have noticed the doubt in his voice.
“Yeah… friends, you’re right” you looked away, the until now comfortable silence had quickly evolved in an uncomfortable one.
“Actually…” he moved your face gently with his hand, making sure you were looking at him “You know what y/n? I just cannot keep going on like this… I’m not really good with words, but I… I uh… I appreciate your presence and just… I found you really pretty and funny but I don’t wanna be your friend anymore” You just sat there, completely shocked. So, he didn’t care after all.
He saw your hurt look and started talking again “Wait! That didn’t come out right! I didn’t mean to say that we aren’t friends! For Hephaestus’s sake, I’m such a mess with words” He shook his head chuckling, and at that point you were terribly confused. What did he mean then?
“I just… I like you y/n. And not like- I don’t just like you. I like like you, as in more than friends and I know that you probably don’t reciprocate and this will ruin our friendship but I couldn’t just hide this anymore and-“ he was talking a bit too much for your likings.
You crushed your lips on his and expressed with that gesture all the emotions that neither of you knew how to express…

Hi, can you do a short piece for Luke Castellan x reader, where Luke saves a mortal reader from a monster and they fall in love please?
as long as i'm with you, hero
Tumblr media
gif is not mine!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR REQUEST!!!
word count: 1.1k
warnings: one singular swear word, reader calls luke a pretty boy, slight mentions of violence, overall just fluffy and cute, probably a little ooc and definitely doesn't follow the main plot.
summary: after luke saves the {reader} from a horrifying monster, they fall in love. that's it, that's the plot.
Before I even knew it, a creature I had only ever heard of in myths was approaching me. I was terrified when I saw the Antaeus, an ugly, brooding, red creature nearing where I sat on a bench in Central Park. I looked around, hoping someone saw the demon too, but no one even looked up. I felt crazy, deranged even, hoping, and praying to any and every god I knew possibly existed. I didn’t want to die today. I was frozen onto the cold, metal bench, not knowing whether to run for my life or not, wondering if I was hallucinating all of this. The creature was ten feet away from me. Well shit. I thought. I didn’t know I was dying today.
Suddenly, as the creature continued to tramp towards me, a young man, about my age, in a highlighter orange tee-shirt ran at the monster head on. I was shocked. I thought I was the one who could see the horrible thing, but apparently, the handsome boy with the dark curls could see him, too. His sword slashed at the creature, but every wound the boy inflicted on him was healed by the Earth. I guess Gaea was his mother. The boy, then coming up with a strategy, jumped up on the monster and hoisted him up with his...what is that? Flying shoes? Then, he sliced the head of the monster, and it turned into ash. The boy fell to the ground with a sickening smack. He didn’t move, so I rushed towards him. No one in the crowd looked at the poor boy, except me. Could no one see what was happening except me? I rushed to the boys side, kneeling down on the ground. I placed a hand on his chest to make sure his heart was beating, and it was. His breath was steady, but it looked like he must of fainted from impact, possibly having a concussion. I couldn't tell if he hit his head or not. I shook him slightly, and then again, when eventually his eyes fluttered open, and oh my god, his eyes were stunning.
“Are you alright?” I asked, concerned about the boy. He winced a little bit when he tried to sit up, obviously embarrassed to be lying flat on the cold ground.
He sighed and winced at the sun that was directly in his eyes. “I’ve been better. Who are you anyways? Did you see everything that just happened?”
I nodded my head. “Yeah. I feel like I’m the only one who saw the Antaeus until you came out of nowhere.”
“Well, I guess you’re just different, like me.” He met my eyes, and I swear I could feel my heart beat out of my chest just looking at this stranger. “What’s your name?”
“My name is {reader}. What’s yours? Thank you for saving me, by the way. I would probably be dead by now if it wasn’t for you.”
He finally sat up to meet face me, ruffling his hair, trying to make it look a little more presentable, I assumed. “Luke. Luke Castellan. And, you’re welcome. Never hurts to help a pretty person like you.”
“Nice to meet you, Luke.” I said, blushing slightly. “Now tell me, what just happened and why could I see something no one but you could?”
That day, Luke told me all about the world of demigods, Greek myths, and gods, and how everything that I have been told about them is real. He told me that his father, Hermes, abandoned him to fend for himself a long time ago, and now, nine years later, he was here, fighting off monsters for a camp that he felt didn’t appreciate him.
Something else I discovered that day was that I am in love with Luke Castellan. His dark eyes and scar on the side of his face that I wanted so badly to kiss, and his demeanor of confidence that I learned was a ruse all made me fall deeply in love with him.
All of this happened six months ago, and now, this mysterious demigod who saved my life is my boyfriend, and I am an honorary member of Camp Halfblood, due to my inclination to see through what the people at the camp call the mist, which put me in danger. The camp was beautiful, and I learned skills such as sparing, archery, and sword fighting. I spent time with Luke on the beautiful sunny days that seemed to last forever at the camp.
I was walking across the archery field in my camp tee-shirt and bathing suit, using my hand to cover my face from the sun. I was alone, or so I thought, when all the sudden I heard footsteps following me to the lake. I looked back and saw the beautiful face of my even more beautiful boyfriend. I paused my walking and let him catch up to me. He picked me up in his arms and spun me around. I let out a joyful laugh, holding on to him in order not to hit the ground. He sat me down carefully and looked into my eyes, smiling his gorgeous smile that captivated me all those months ago.
“Hi.” He said, smiling down at me. The sun hit his face at the perfect angle, illuminating all his features that I loved so much. He looked like a god, and I guess that was fitting, because he technically was partially one.
“Hi, pretty boy.” I replied, in awe of him. My hands rested on his shoulders as I continued to admire every part of his face. My fingers went up to trace the scar on his face up and down. He relished the feeling, leaning onto my hand. I moved to caress his face, embracing his warmth.
His eyes fluttered to my lips, and I smiled at him, pressing my body closer to his. He pressed our lips together, and every time, I felt blissful. He tasted like sugar and sunshine, and he was so gentle and soft with me. He started to press kisses all over my face, causing my face to warm up, not due to how hot it is. He placed one more lingering kiss to my lips, grinning into me. He grabbed my hand.
“Let’s got swim, sweetheart.”
“Anything as long as I’m with you, hero.”
He smiled, pressing a kiss to my neck as we walked. I hoped in this moment that these days of sunshine and my pretty boyfriend never ended.

back on my valgrace shit lol (because nothing makes me wanna write more than despair!)
...
They’e in some garden in New Rome which Leo can’t remember the name of. The nightmares are still running through his head; his mother, Gaea, closets, fires, and, oh, gods, the screams. He almost wants to start crying and collapse into Jason’s arms again, but he doesn’t. That would be unfair to Jason. He isn’t sure how, but he’s sure, and that’s something he hasn’t been in a while.
“Leo?” Jason’s eyes are on him, gaze concerned and eyes wide with worry. You don’t deserve it.
“Yeah, Sparky?” He stops walking. Shit, he just messed something up, didn’t he?
The blonde narrows his eyes. “You’re thinking about something.” He can feel Jason’s hand find a way to his, even in the darkness. “Tell me,” he says, softly, head tilted slightly, and it comes pouring out, because how could Leo resist those blue eyes?
“I’m sorry,” he says after, face pressed against Jason’s chest, tears running down his cheeks. Jason presses him by the shoulders, moving him back enough to wipe the tears on Leo’s face. “I should’ve told you when you asked. I should’ve told you earlier.”
Jason pulls Leo close again, and the warmth feels wonderful. “You told me when you were ready, Leo,” he said, stroking the other boy’s hair. “That’s all I could ask for, darling.”
might add more to this later when i’m feeling more up to it

Give Him Space
A Solangelo Fanfiction
Summary: Nico and Will are good friends, and both of them like each other, but haven't confessed yet. One night, Nico has a nightmare.
Tumblr media
Will Solace has always been a light sleeper. He would be woken up by the faintest of breeze, or the softest rustle of leaves beside Cabin 11. He had grown accustomed to the occasional snores of the Apollo kids, but other than that, even the smallest of noises could wake him up.
Including footsteps.
One night, Will heard hurried footsteps from outside the Cabin, and at first, doubted that it was probably just another camper who got hungry at night. But then, he succeeded in overthinking and decided to check it out instead.
Will got out of bed and the cabin, closing the door quietly behind him. He turned towards the Dining Pavillion but found no one upon reaching there. He strained his ear to hear any sound from the kitchens, but it was silent. Will blinked confusedly, looking around. Was he hallucinating? He was sure he heard footsteps.
Then, he saw it. It was a shadow, a shadow of someone heading towards the beach. There was only one person Will knew who was brave - and crazy - enough to go towards the beach at night. And his stealth, his stance was like that of a ghost.
Nico di Angelo.
Will didn't want to admit it out loud, but he liked Nico. Romantically. But he had never even given a thought to confessing his feelings to him. For one, he wasn't sure if Nico was over Percy Jackson, and second, he didn't know if Nico was ready to accept the truth about himself.
A lot of times, Will would get angry at Percy. He knew that it was unreasonable and that Percy was a great guy. But he was also one of the main reasons why Nico's feelings were in shambles, so Will couldn't control the bout of rage that would overcome him at times whenever he saw Poseidon's son.
Will wondered if he should follow Nico. He knew that it was crazy to do so, not because staying out of bed past curfew was dangerous, but mainly because Nico would go feral if he came to know that someone was following him.
But leaving someone alone in danger and worse, in pain was not in Will's nature nor in his ideals. So, he braced himself, took a deep breath and started following the son of Hades.
Will was stealthy, but not half as much as Nico. Nico moved smoothly and swiftly, not disturbing anything around him. He was like a shadow, which could mould itself compared to its surrounding. Will tried his best to keep track of him, but it proved to be difficult.
Nico was so skilled at hiding himself from everyone. He'd find comfort in confined spaces and darkness. He had learned how to smile at the darkness, and at one point, the dark smiled back. Nico was still a mystery to most, a mystery they would rather ignore than bother.
But Will was different. He knew that, deep inside, Nico was hurting. It did not take a genius to guess that. Being Apollo's kid, Will could detect easily if there was something with someone, and the moment he had first laid eyes on Nico, he had almost doubled over after sensing the hurt in his heart.
As he followed the boy towards the beach, Will wondered why he was awake. At the next moment, he understood how stupid he had been. Nico must be having nightmares, of course. Gaea, the battle, the giants, Octavian, they all frequented Will's nightmares. It was stupid to assume that they didn't Nico's.
And Nico...Nico had gone through Tartarus. All on his own. Will could not even imagine the horrors he must have faced. Will smiled sadly, Nico was so strong, so brave, even when he denied it.
Nico sat in the sand by the beach and looked at the sea. Will stayed back in the trees, thinking about what he should do. He wanted to surge forward and sit beside him, talk to him and console him. That was his first thought. He didn't want Nico to suffer alone, he had been doing so for too long.
But then, he paused. Nico had been alone for too long, so Will didn't know if he would welcome his presence or feel threatened by it. Instead of feeling better that someone was there for him, Nico might withdraw himself inwards even more. Will didn't want to make that mistake.
Nico and Will had become good friends. Will reminisced a fond memory and smiled to himself.
Tumblr media
"I'm telling you, Solace. I'm fine!" Nico insisted. He was starting to get angry, he kept telling Will that he was fine. But Will knew better. Nico was just back from Camp Jupiter and looked more exhausted than ever. He must have shadow-travelled, given his drooping eyes and haggard face.
"Tell me, di Angelo, when was the last time you drank water?" Will asked, ignoring Nico's glare and thrusting a bottle of water in his hands. There was no one else in the infirmary, everyone liked Nico but avoided him nonetheless.
Nico gripped the bottle tightly, "None of your business. I'm fine." "You look anything but fine." Will said dismissively, "Let me check your blood pressure-"
Nico relented after a long argument. He slumped down on the bed and kept glaring at Will. Will kept checking his vitals and tried to hide the smile on his face. Nico attempted to look scary and menacing when he was glaring, and Will was not going to tell him how cute it made him look.
He didn't want to battle Ghostboy.
After he was done, Will expected Nico to storm out and throw the bottle in the trashcan, but none of that happened. He looked at Will keenly instead. "What?" Will asked.
"Nothing." He answered after a long time, "You're not afraid of me."
"It's not the same as before anymore, Nico." Will said softly, "You are one of us."
"Everyone says that," Nico murmured, "But I know they're afraid of me."
"Well, you are the son of Hades, you're mysterious, you have an obsession with McDonald's, you can talk to ghosts, you always wear black, even in the summer heat. But you must remember, you're not a fearsome monster or something." Will said. He looked away, trying to not blush. He cursed himself for spilling how much he observed Nico.
Nico chuckled. "Funny, Solace. But I will remember to bring you a burger the next time I got to McDonald's." He stood up and walked out of the infirmary. Will stared after him. Was he developing a crush on the boy?
Tumblr media
Will gazed at the same boy. It was from that incident that their friendship grew. And now they were at a point where everyone could tell that there was something more between them. But Will didn't want to put a burden on Nico unless he was sure he reciprocated his feelings.
Will's heart ached to go forward and sit beside Nico. Granted, he was not the most talkative, or the most polite, or the most welcoming person, but Will liked him. For what he was. A hurt, lost boy with a kind heart, who only wanted good for the world, despite what the world had put him through.
So Will paused. Nico deserved his space, Will wasn't going to go and invade that. He stepped backwards and made a decision to go back to bed. The next morning, he'd ask Nico if he had gotten any sleep. He'd magically guess that Nico had nightmares and confront him about it. He'd then try to talk to him only if the son of Hades wanted to talk.
Tomorrow, he'd do everything for Nico.
But tonight, it was only required to give him space.
NOTE - This is my first Solangelo fanfic, so hope it was good. Thanks for reading!

Nadia Greene
Tumblr media
Daughter of Gaea
Tumblr media
Her name means hope and her last name is kinda just a pun because she's a daughter of Gaea
Her father, Sebastian Greene can actually see through the mist and when he met Gaea he saw her genuine form and was still lowkey into it
She was raised by her father and they weren't really the richest people in the world so he had to work a lot leading to Nadia often feeling neglected by her father
And this causes her to run away at the age of seven after he lost his cool and yelled at her, calling her a nuisance
For a while after she ran away she just legit lived in a tree
Monsters didn't attack her often a they new who her mother was, only very very stupid monsters would attack her
But then when she was eight years old she met an eight year old Annabeth, and fourteen year old Luke and Thalia
A few days after she met them Zeus decided to try and kill her before she could reach her full power as the daughter of a primordial goddess
And struck her with lightning
But her mother wouldn't let her die
So now she just has lightning scars going across her body
Starting at her shoulder and ending at her mid-thigh
They all ended up going to camp together but y'know, the whole tree thing happens
She was in the Hermes cabin for most of her life at camp, her mother not claiming her until The Hero's of Olympus series
She has a sword called δράκος άρωμα aka Dragon Arum which is a kind of plant
She went on the lightning thief quest
And most quests after that (she almost threw all her guts up and cried multiple times during the sea of monsters for obvious reasons)
Most of the time at camp you'll see her sitting on the docks and chatting with the Nereids
They talk often because they actually saved her life
When she was about nine some Ares camper threw her in the lake, she can't swim and terrified of water
So the Nereids saved her
Now she's actually pretty close with them
She's also often with Percy and Annabeth, two of her closest friends
Her dream is to eventually become either a social worker or a botanist
She's a very nice girl but does have a reputation around camp for being temperamental
Her hobbies include tending to the little garden she has, training and listening to Annabeth ramble about architecture while she plays with her hair
Her style is lots of grandpa sweaters, comfy jeans and the same pair of dark green converse she's had for years
And for training she wears a regular camp half-blood t-shirt and leggings
There's lots more to know about Nadia so I hope you read and enjoy the series I'll be writing about her soon :))

PLEASE PART TWO OF THAT NICO DI ANGELO FIC
I'm not even a fan nor do I know anything about the PJO series but that.. THAT fic makes me wanna start reading it
Sword Fighting Pt. 2 (Nico Di Angelo x Son of Aphrodite)
Part 1 can be found here, however, you don't need to read it to understand this.
tags: love confessions, Nico being overprotective, near-death experience, takes place during The Blood of Olympus, reader is injured (badly)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Time was something demigods rarely had, and Nico di Angelo had lived long enough to know that it always slipped through their fingers. He never planned to reveal his feelings for you, the son of Aphrodite, but as Gaea rose from her slumber and the earth itself raged in the final battle, regret gnawed at him.
He should’ve told you.
The battlefield was a maelstrom of chaos—monsters falling, demigods fighting with every last bit of strength they had left. The air was thick with dust and the stench of death, but through it all, Nico’s eyes sought you. You moved like a whirlwind, graceful and deadly, wielding your twin blades with a skill that defied your heritage.
Even now, in the heart of war, there was a terrible beauty to how you fought—fluid, precise, unstoppable. Nico's breath hitched as he watched you, his heart pounding in a way that had nothing to do with the battle around him. He had seen many things in his life—gods, monsters, and the depths of the Underworld—but he'd never seen anything as beautiful as you.
For a moment, it seemed like the battle was turning in their favor. The monsters were thinning, their numbers dwindling under the combined might of Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter. Nico’s heart pounded with a glimmer of hope. Maybe—just maybe—they had a chance.
Then it happened.
As the demigods paused to catch their breath, thinking they had won, a final foe—enormous, armored, and ancient—rose from the shadows, roaring with fury. The beast lunged, aiming straight for Hazel, its jagged weapon raised for a killing blow.
You didn’t hesitate. Without a second thought, you threw yourself between the beast and Hazel. Nico saw it as if in slow motion—how your eyes flashed with determination and your blade shone in the sun as you swung to kill the beast before a sickening crunch echoed across the battlefield. You had saved Hazel, but you had also been stuck, crumpling to the ground, your blood spilling across the earth.
“No!” Nico’s voice tore through the chaos, a raw cry filled with panic and horror. He barely felt his feet moving as he sprinted toward you. He reached your side in what felt like an eternity, falling to his knees beside you. Blood stained through your armor, dark and thick, pooling beneath your body. Your face was pale, lips quivering as you struggled to draw breath.
“Nico…” you gasped, your voice barely a whisper, eyes fluttering.
“No, no, no stay with me.” Nico pleaded, his hands trembling as he pressed them against your wound, desperately trying to stop the bleeding. Around him, the other demigods rushed to your side—they moved quickly, but it felt agonizingly slow to Nico. The son of Aphrodite was barely conscious as Percy and Jason lifted him gently, careful not to jostle his broken form too much.
Hazel, pale with guilt and worry, led the way back to the makeshift camp they had set up behind the front lines. It was a patch of relative calm amidst the chaos of war, but Nico’s heart hammered in his chest like a storm.
“Will!” Nico screamed, his voice tight with fear. The blond healer turned around and paled upon seeing your state—ushering Percy and Jason to lay you in an empty bed.
“This is bad,” Will muttered, his voice hushed, trying to keep his composure as he assessed your chest. He pressed a glowing hand to your wound, his brow furrowed in concentration, but he shook his head slightly. “The weapon must’ve been enchanted—it’s deeper than it looks, and it’s not healing like it should.”
Nico’s throat tightened. “You can heal it though, right? You have to.”
Will glanced at Nico, his expression shadowed with doubt. “I don’t know, Nico. This kind of wound…” He trailed off, shaking his head. “I’ll do everything I can.” His grip on your hand tightened as Will began his work, the faint golden glow of healing energy surrounding your body, but Nico could tell it wasn’t enough.
Hours passed, and Will pushed himself to the limit, alternating between ambrosia, nectar, and healing magic, trying everything he knew. But still, your breathing was shallow, and the wound stubbornly refused to fully close. Nico stayed by your side the entire time, refusing to move, barely blinking as he watched every flicker of your face for a sign of improvement.
The others came and went—between the battle's cleanup and burning of shrouds—they all offered words of comfort, but Nico barely registered them. His world had narrowed to the cot where you lay, your face pale and peaceful as if already slipping into the void.
Days blurred together. Each dawn brought a renewed wave of dread, as Nico feared you wouldn’t wake up. Every breath you took seemed a miracle, but it wasn’t enough. Ambrosia was fed to you sparingly, Will careful not to overuse it. Every time you twitched or murmured in your sleep, Nico’s heart leapt, only to sink again when you didn’t stir beyond that.
He never left your side.
“Nico you need to rest,” Will urged gently, exhaustion lining his own features. “You’ve been here for days. You can’t keep going like this.”
Nico shook his head. “I’m not leaving him.”
Will opened his mouth to argue but stopped. He knew better than to push Nico. The look in his eyes—dark, haunted—was enough to silence any protest. He had seen that look before, in the faces of those who had lost too much already, those who were on the edge of breaking. “Okay.” Will said softly, placing a reassuring hand on Nico’s shoulder before stepping out of the tent. His footsteps faded, leaving the ghost king alone in the dimly lit space.
Nico leaned forward, resting his forehead on the back of your hand. His body was heavy with exhaustion, every muscle aching from his own battle wounds and malnutrition, not having eaten anything in days, but he couldn't leave. Nico wouldn't. The thought of walking away, even for a moment, felt like abandonment—like if he left your side, you might slip away for good. And that…that was something Nico couldn’t bear.
“I convinced myself there was time to tell you how I felt,” Nico said, his voice cracking, each word feeling like it was pulled from a wound too deep to close. “But now…now it might be too late.”
His breath hitched, and he squeezed your hand tighter, as if holding onto you physically would stop you from slipping away. He could feel the faint warmth of your skin, but it wasn’t enough. It didn’t feel real—none of this did. You were so still, your chest rising and falling with shallow, labored breaths. The strong, brilliant demigod he admired—no, loved—reduced to this fragile, fading presence in the cot before him.
Nico swallowed hard, the ache in his chest nearly unbearable. "I should’ve told you the moment I realized. I should’ve been braver. But I was scared. Scared that you wouldn’t feel the same, or worse—that if I let you in, you’d leave me. Like Bianca did."
The name hung heavy in the air, thick with old grief. His sister. His rock. The one person who had ever made him feel less alone—until you came along. Losing her had shattered him in ways he’d never fully recovered from, and the thought of losing you now? It was a nightmare he couldn’t endure.
“I couldn’t handle it,” Nico whispered, his voice trembling as the confession spilled out. “If you leave me, I don’t know if I’ll survive it. Not again. I’m not strong enough to go through that again.”
The dam broke, and the words came faster, more desperate. “I swear, if you die on me, I’ll follow you. I don’t care what Will or anyone says. I’ll follow you to Elysium if I have to." He pressed his forehead against the back of your hand, his body shaking with the effort of holding back tears. "I love you. I should’ve said it before. I love you, and I’m not ready to let you go."
For a moment, the world seemed to hold its breath. Nico stayed perfectly still, the weight of his confession hanging between you, the silence around him thick and unbearable. Then, faintly, a shift—a movement so small Nico almost didn’t notice it. Your fingers twitched beneath his.
His eyes snapped open, and he lifted his head in disbelief. A soft, rasping sound reached his ears. “Nico…” His heart lurched. Your eyes fluttered open, bleary and filled with pain, but undeniably alive. You coughed weakly, wincing at the movement, but your lips curled into a faint smile. “I wouldn’t do that to you.”
Nico froze, staring at you as if you were a ghost. The relief hit him so suddenly that he couldn’t breathe. “You’re awake…” His voice was barely a whisper, disbelief coloring every word.
Your smile widened just a fraction, though it was strained with effort. “You didn’t think I’d leave you, did you?”
Nico’s relief was overwhelming, but it didn’t come without an edge of something sharper. Anger, bitter and cold, began to surface as he stared at you, still fragile but alive. The thought of how close you came to dying—how close he came to losing you—made his chest tighten painfully.
He pulled back, his expression hardening, the words spilling out before he could stop them. “What the hell were you thinking!? You nearly died out there!”
You blinked, still groggy but more aware now, and gave a weak smile. “Someone had to, right?” you rasped, trying to lighten the tension, but Nico wasn’t having it.
“That’s not the point!” Nico’s voice was louder than he intended, eyes burning with something between fury and heartbreak. “You could’ve died. You almost did."
Your smile widened, even as you winced at the effort. “You would’ve done the same thing,” you said, your voice hoarse but filled with that infuriating calmness. “If it had been you, and Hazel was in danger, you wouldn’t have hesitated.”
Nico froze, his jaw clenching as the truth of your words settled over him. He wanted to argue, to shout at you for being reckless and careless with your life, but he couldn’t. You were right, and that only made it worse. If the roles were reversed, Nico knew, deep down, that he would’ve done exactly the same thing.
You smirked at his silence, clearly pleased with yourself. “See?” you said softly, your voice still weak but playful. “I know you, di Angelo.”
Nico scowled, but his anger was already slipping away, replaced by something warmer, something he couldn’t quite name but felt deep in his bones. He didn’t reply to your teasing, didn’t trust himself to say anything without his emotions spilling over again. Instead, he just shook his head and muttered, “You’re impossible.”
You laughed, though it quickly turned into a pained cough. Nico’s heart clenched again, his worry returning in full force. “I don’t care what you think,” He said after a moment, his voice quieter now, but still laced with intensity. “Next time, don’t throw your life away for anyone. Not Hazel. Not even me.”
You met his gaze, your smile softening. “I won’t.” you said, though the glint in your eyes told him you were lying. Nico didn’t reply to that. He knew you too well—knew that your words were empty promises. But for now, you were alive, and that was all that mattered.
