Hi everyone! So I been thinking hard on a rather unique 3way crossover that I been considering about writing. Please feel free to give me your input.
The 3 way crossover consist of DC x DP x Halo Infinite. With the ships being Jason and Danny (Obviously). Master Chief and Bruce as the second ship to be included. And Tim Simping for Katrina. (Cortana 2.0 from Infinite)
I see these possible dynamics being cute as Chief will learn how to be human, and how to love. Him and Team Phantom Finding Family. Also I don't mean the bull Chief pulled in the god awful Halo TV Show!
Bruce will learn that killing isn't an act of God. It isn't you kill once, and become a mindless murderer. That there is a difference, between a Soldier doing his duty to protect humanity and his loved ones. And a mindless killer, enjoying the horror of its victims as the bleed out with please for mercy. Effectively stealing their innocent lives... Oh also learn to not be as emotionally constipated after Katrina effectively out smarts him into a therapy session with Jazz Nightingale. (Last name changed after she saved Danny from the their parents lab…)
Danny will learn what it means to be apart of a family. And how screwed the GIW are.~
Jason, finds out he’s ghost pregnant and a heavy underdeveloped Halfa. All while the Pit becomes a full ghost that he ends up birthing. Which is gonna be a Dinosaur that will be Jason’s “Nightmare.” To his Fright Knight. (I am really wanting to go for Altispinax, or Spinax Vivosaur from Fossil Fighters series. But idk, might just use the Giga from Jurassic World Dominion. Just to change it up from what I seen people have the Pits become.
How Chief comes into the story however, would be introduced via Clockwork leaving a very obviously placed Halo Infinite Xbox Game case with a unmarked disc inside it. In an Alley Danny was taking refuge in. With a sticky note of course. And a few chapters in, when he was alone in Wayne Manor decided to play the game. And by Play. I mean go ghost and jump into the game. But of course. With his Fabulous Phantom Luck (trademark pending.) A new power began to make itself known as the code latched on him on his way out. Bringing Master Chief and Katrina to life in the real world, with all his memories and Katrina with the entire UNSC Database.)
While that’s how I plan to bring in Chief and Co. the main gist of this will be an all out battle, to destroy the GIW. Outlaws, Sirens, Chief and the entire Batfam Team up.
Despite the JL repealing the Anti Ecto Acts. A few Private donors continue to find them to get their hands on Ectoplasm. The League of Assassin’s, Lex Luthor. And of Course Vlad Masters will be the main villains connected to the GIW.
I can see Jason and Chief getting along like wildfire. And when Bruce finds out Jason is one leading the squad his kids, trying to get them to go on a date with Master Chief. It leads to some funny moments I would think. And of course can’t forget Chief reluctantly surprise appearance in Civies at one of Bruce’s Gala’s. (I kinda wanna make him wear Olive Green suit and dress pants. Black Bow Tie with a white under suit. Black belt. And an Olive Green Military Cap to hide his Neural Implant. Maybe having all his Medals from the service pinned to his chest. At least the ones that match ones in this universe. So not all of them obviously.
And Jason would absolutely catch his father freeze up when he sees the handsome Spartan.
For looks regarding Chief’s face since we don’t know what he looks like. I was thinking Caucasian Male, short brown hair that could be the right height to spike it up at least. Not a complete buzz cut. Rather bright blue eyes. That do not glow like Danny’s. But at least around that color. Of course he will have some scars on his left Temple, his lip and across his right eye. Freckles too. His muscle mass would of course be a bit more built then Jason. Which says something. But, you know. Super Soldier and all. (Update: I did in-fact Draw it ^^. If you want to see. Let me know if you wanna see Master Chief in a suit at the Gala ^^)
The Ages I was gonna go for was as follows.
Alfred: Immortal (Thanks Clockwork!)
John (Master Chief): 46yrs (I know it’s not his cannon Age. But it’s what I want for the story.)
Bruce: 45yrs
Barbara: 29yrs
Dick: 26yrs
Jazz: 21yrs
Jason: 21yrs
Cass: 20yrs
Sam: 20yrs
Danny: 19yrs
Duke: 19yrs
Steph: 19yrs
Tucker: 19yrs
Val: 19yrs
Tim: 18yrs
Ellie: 14yrs
Damien: 12yrs
Katrina: 6 months old
And that’s the little Fanfic I been thinking about. Of course it’s just an idea. but I think it would be fun to write.
#dp x dc crossover#Jason x Danny#Bruce x Master Chief#dp x Dc x halo crossover#danny phantom#red hood#Batman#Master Chief#jason todd#bruce wayne#nightwing#team phantom#dick grayson#jazz fenton#danny fenton#alfred pennyworth#dead on main#dpxdc#dcu#dc x dp

Good luck on your source-finding journey friend! I am so interested in the process of tracking down sources and documents, but I've never done it before. Can you explain your process or do you have any tips?
Hi anon! Thanks for the ask. This is not a research guide, just some pointers I've found useful (as someone trained in other forms of academic research who learned how to work with archives).
First things first – forget google. Google scholar is decent for tracking down secondary academic sources (though hardly comprehensive), but with a few notable exceptions, archive databases that hold primary source materials are not indexed on normal search engines. Instead, you need to spend some time finding the repositories where your sought-after documents are likely to be, and then running your searches inside those.
The one thing google is useful for is to see if someone has already gone to the trouble of formally publishing the documents you're looking for. You'll want to search for things like "papers of...", "correspondence of...", or "writings of...". If you get a result, see if you can find that book on google books, archive.org, or at your local library (definitely don't check on libgen, because downloading a free book would be bad and awful and terrible of you 🤫).
These collected editions are not always reliable (especially older ones, since there was a lot of gratuitous editing going on). So, to be rigorous, you still want to see if you can find the actual, original source.
The easiest starting point for tracking those down is to find a secondary source that has already done most of the work for you. A reliable book or academic article will cite its primary sources, which should include which archive or collection the author found the document in.
If you are immeasurably lucky, you will find that respoitory online, and it will have a fully-digitised collection their holdings, and a reliable, searchable index based on keywords and transcripts. In that case, just type in your search term and enjoy.
(Note: the search functionality on these sites is often very wonky. Always try several versions of your search term, and play around with the filters and boolean operators.)
But those sites are rare. If you're less (but still a little bit) lucky, you'll find an academic institution or research archive that has at least published a document called a finding aid. There should be one for each grouping of documents in their holdings (for example for one historical figure's papers, or for a specific bequest) which gives a summary of the contents and is used for on-site tracking of the physical items (these will have call or accession numbers, location of the documents, etc.). Finding aids vary immensely in quality and level of detail ("miscellaneous other papers" my behated).
If you do indeed find a record for something you want to look at (and it hasn't been digitised), you need to figure out the process for requesting the document. This varies hugely depending on the institution (with differing lead times, querying methods, fees, limitations, and ensuing publication/reproduction rights) and is virtually always explained somewhere on their website. Mostly, they'll ask you to complete a form, or to send an email following a template. Don't expect a quick reply, and don't expect digital copies to be free.
Of course, this all presumes that the instituton that holds your materials 1) has a website and 2) has actually put useful things on it. Sometimes, you just need to enquire. I followed up on a footnote I saw in a hundred-year-old book that gave the location of some letters, found the local town library that was mentioned and emailed them about it. (Yes, they had them, and the librarian I corresponded with was simply delightful and very eager to help.)
Be courteous and clear when you email these folks. They will almost always want to know your name, your contact details, a clear description of what you are looking for (the more detail the better), a summary of your research project, and whether you intend to publish the documents you are requesting – so save a few back-and-forth emails by providing that information upfront. They are very happy to answer requests from independent or hobby researchers, so don't let that hold you back.
The least helpful of all, in my experience, are holders of private collections. They simply don't have any incentive to take time out of their day to help you, and usually aren't trained librarians or archivists so they don't know what they have, or where it is, or how to give you access. (I tear up sometimes when I think of all the documents that are lying in some manor house attic, because someone forgot they were there or thought no one would be interested.) Sometimes they will respond (eventually) to an email query; often it's just a black hole.
I hope that helps! In all frankness, much of this is dull, repetitive work that all-too-frequently leads to dead ends (but it's so good when you succeed). Persistence and patience are key.
#feel free to ask follow-up questions#especially something more specific because this is a very broad topic#and i encourage the skilled research folks on here to add their own tips#historical research

Strip the Data, Salt the Misinfo: A Borderlands Fanbase PSA/Rant
TL;DR: The current Borderlands wiki sucks huge balls for anything after and including BL3, but it also sucks for other reasons and the best way to fix it would be just to nuke it and move on to Miraheze.
I am a huge Borderlands fan. It's my special interest, in fact. Everyone knows that. I'm quite invested in the community, though not as much as I would like to be, despite my constant attempts to garner attention in various places that are not named Tumblr. In fact, I am invested enough to frequent various sites focusing on this video game series.
And there is a major problem with one of the biggest sites dedicated to it:
The Wiki.
At first, it seems like a good place to get information regarding the series, both its gameplay and story. But you would be solely wrong.
While it does provide accurate information on the gameplay, guns, loot and boss attacks of every looter shooter entry, it is massively lacking on the story front. Especially after and during BL3.
Let's look at some examples.

This is Krieg's quote page. Not only is every single one of his BL2 quotes displayed, it's also got the audio files for all of them!
But the BL3 ones? It only transcribes the base game ECHO logs he talks in. No audio, and none of his many, many PKatFF lines.
In one of his videos, the youtuber ItzTermx compares Krieg's quote page and Fl4k's quote page in an attempt to showcase the superiority of BL2's dialogue. But in reality, Fl4k has significantly more quotes than Krieg, they are simply unlisted on the wiki. Where are they then, you may ask?

Fucking TvTropes of all places, not the main wiki.
I used the quote pages as an example, but this isn't the only case where this disparity is true. Check the wiki for yourself, and you'll see that every single BL2 and TPS quest, main or side, has a detailed transcript. What do the BL3 quests get?

This. A plain objective list.
And this is not even touching upon the incredibly incomplete - hell, MISSING Crew Challenge pages, and of course... the critical lack of lore/character information.
I will use a youtuber as an example here yet again.
youtube
This is EruptionFang's video on Wainwright Jakobs. EruptionFang is widely the most popular Borderlands lore youtuber, if not the only one that actually has a somewhat large following.
In this video, he openly says we don't know how he met Hammerlock. This is a blatant lie! We do know! An idle line in DLC 2 reveals that they met on a hunting expedition!
Of course, getting through idle lines is a slog, since you're likely to get repeats, so there must be an easier way to access this information.
Does the wiki say anything about it? No. But you know what does?
THE LOCALIZATION FILE. WHICH I DATAMINED MYSELF, BECAUSE THE WIKI IS SO INCOMPLETE.
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW BULLSHIT THAT IS? PEOPLE USE THIS WIKI AS A RESOURCE, AND SAID RESOURCE IS VERY INADEQUATE.
You might ask: "why don't you contribute yourself, then?"
You see, the Borderlands Wiki is well, a Fandom Wiki. The site that's known for being infested with ads and autoplay videos, which are 99% of the time completely irrelevant to whatever you're viewing. There's a reason I use Breezewiki.
Fandom is awful to use, and especially difficult to browse through. It's an accessibility issue, something you definitely don't want in a place meant to provide information. I am not willing to contribute to such a place.
You might ask, then, is there an alternative?
This is Miraheze. It's ad free, community run, and non-profit. It uses the same software as Wikipedia, and provides a similar, accessible look. If this community managed to move there (and toss a coin or two to Miraheze, they're accepting donations!), we could foster a significantly more accessible environment.
I hope y'all enjoyed reading this edition of me malding over something seemingly innocuous. Before anyone asks, yes, I allow sharing of this post to other websites. The Borderlands community deserves to be aware of this.

Things like this always happen on the job— it’s practically expected, like towel theft at a nice hotel, or towel theft at a not-so-nice hotel. Witches and summoners dial you up and leave behind collateral, as though that’s a thing they can dictate without a discussion. If I had a nickel for every time someone tried to buy me off with their local denominations, I’d be a sucker! Anyway. This always happens, but luckily for me, I had an excellent mentor: Miasma the Devil, Second Class. I'm sure you've heard of his exploits, and I'll be the first to say that the whole "impersonating a celestial figure" charge is bogus— I'll likely be the only one to say it because the Powers That Be have been unrelenting about that, advocate or no. I dial up Miasma, who's been on house arrest in the sixth layer, and, kidder that he is, he lets it go to voicemail. I leave him a message as I pick up this kid and inspect the thing.
"Hey, M! Calling you up about a summoner attempting to dictate a trade equivalency or whatever. They left behind a kid—" I hold its ankle at arm's length, rotating it. "Anyway, give me a call back? I'm not sure what to do in the meantime if this thing starts to stink. That happens, right?"
15 minutes later, I've made the kid a mushy sandwich because I think that's what kids this size eat; I'm pretty sure they're still on mush until they're 8 years old or 4'9", I read that in some handbook somewhere. M hasn't called back, but that's part of the familiar ribbing he does with the ones he likes. I think. I mean, I've always assumed it was based in our connection, the kidding which belies the indivisible connection between a mentor and mentee, several years and missed communications down the line, but maybe it's something else? Maybe—
It hits me like the Infernal Express, Hell's quaint-and-overpriced SuperBullet Train for the tourists and the Stans: M is in trouble. It's one thing for normal folks to be in trouble, but a Devil, Second Class in trouble? A whole different ball game. Everyone knows it's the Devils that really matter, and I'm kicking myself thinking about it, knowing I have got to get back to Hell immediately.
I set the kid down and bounce a bit in place, trying to figure out how to move forward, onward and downward, as they say. I need to set boundaries with summoners, I really ought to have done that before she zipped out the door, but there's still time; there's always time to set a boundary. I need to set boundaries but I also need to get my demon ass down to Six to bust M out of whatever situation they've got him in down there. Then, also, I've gotta figure out what sort of Monkey's Paw situation I should enact about being summoned in the first place, otherwise my boundaries will be ignored, and then, of course, I've got to get myself one of those pretzels from Walt's Bar. It's a full day of work, and to top the whole thing off, I've gotta look after this kid or I'll end up accidentally accepting it as part of the bargain and that'll shoot my whole plan to shit. I roll my neck and hear it crack in about a dozen and a half places, crack my knuckles and hear that wonderful gaseous trill; I sigh as I make my decision.
There's an old recipe, an ancient and rarely used bit of intended culinary chemistry, that comes from, as most scraps of such arcana do, a Baba Yaga from way back. I had flipped through Hell's JSTOR in my undergraduate demonic studies and seen the recipe, and after several rapid-fire texts to my roommate's younger brother, who still has access to the database for free, I was reading through the digitized pdf. I'm pretty sure I'm going to owe this guy something, which is fine, because he's cute as fuck, but I swore off undergrads after the last one broke most of the bones in my body, my heart, and stole all my best nugs. Like, I get it— we're a rough bunch, and demon bones grow back quick, but my nugs? Little bastard pisses me off something awful. Anyway.
It's a simple recipe, a ritual, really, but I read each word because I don't trust my magic yet. I might one day, but these days I'm rusty and I didn't major in the arcane. I did my time there, sure, but it just wasn't exactly my thing. If I'm honest, I was kind of the demonic equivalent of a business major, so. Whatever, everyone skates by in something, right?
The ritual is a pinprick of blood, a recitation of my True Name, a proprietary Binding, and a Stare of Pure Intention. If you're thinking such a Stare is impossible for me, you're showing your entire ass, my dude, because Pure Intention is like Manifesting; your intentions, whatever they are, unadulterated and put into a blast of eye contact. It's all very simple Magic Fundamentals that even a business major like me can grasp. So I grasp it, and begin with the pinprick, which comes from the kid. The kid gets confused about it, but I shush it so it doesn't start crying and the shushing thing works so I start with the rest of the ritual. I'm fixing the kid with the stare when my phone goes off and I lose a bit of the Purity of Intention, which I just know is gonna screw with the integrity of the finished product. But it's too late: the ritual finishes and Baba Yaga's Demon Baby Recipe is complete. I am the kid; the kid is me.
If you're unfamiliar with the politics of Hell, which you likely are, because the politics of Hell are anomalous and arbitrarily anachronistic, there's a good reason for my using this recipe. For untold ages there was this symbiotic relationship which allowed undocumented demons to cross into and out of the circles, but for whatever reason, the Powers that Be's recent position on this has shifted, and it's apparently an issue to be a demon where you don't belong. Souls and humans, on the other hand, are considered little more than freight, and get a wave through. You can pretty much talk your way all the way down to Nine— getting back is a bit harder, but hey, palms grease just the same all over.
I hulk out as a Demon Baby and look like a veritable gremlin, a real grotesque. I've never been a Demon Baby before and it's actually really funny; I feel like a miniature skeleton wearing draped-over chubby-jelly skin, but as a descendant of a drude, I have never felt quite right in a body, so maybe it's just that. I try out the vocal chords and they seem to work, stilted and stulted, the way humans are, and I flex my squishy little arms, augmented by my demon form so they look absolutely ripped. I crack a smile and grab my phone to take a picture, and that's when I see the reply from Miasma that interrupted the ritual: "Need help". I send my Demon Baby ass to hell without so much as a snapchat.
As predicted, I get waved past the Infernal Gates by the guard on duty, Meil, one of the Later Fallen whom Barrett would agree is (ahem) mid. I hurtle downward, gleefully baking the flesh of my face nearly off before I remember it's a rental, and I invoke my ancestral privileges to protect the carapace. If you've never flung yourself into the Pit, I recommend it; it's cathartic to start, and you're dead and damned anyway so you might as well get silly with it. I hear the wails of the other souls zipping downward at speeds orders of magnitude faster than the naturally occurring velocity cap, and think how lucky they are to ride this ride. "Hell's Mouth is hungry, and physics can go fuck itself," is basically our motto. It's not great for advertisers, but they can take a cue from physics, per our motto. The first of the Infernal Gates is the one most watched, and if you're not a demon lacking documentation, you're not looked at much, so you pick up speed and you keep hurtling, and if you can figure out the brakes, you can stop off before Nine. By the time you're midway though, the type of Wronski Feint you'd need to do is nigh impossible for a human soul— they just don't have the wherewithal. I'm shooting for two-thirds of the way down, allegedly, and when I see my stop I flex my Demon Baby body and nearly wrest the bones free as I fling myself into the myocytus of Hell's beating heart. I hit the Hell Flesh floor and pop up out of a nearly perfect roll and crouch in a readied stance, just in case.
A moment passes, and no one is upon me, so I follow my intuition (and the directions Miasma left as a forwarding address) and I'm at the holding cell in a flash. It's odd: it looks nearly like an apartment ought to look, from the outside. I'm sure it's something dreadful inside, and I prepare my little gremlin self for the reveal, then rip the door out of its frame.
"Who the—" Miasma, fully enswathed in takeout boxes and their contents, legs akimbo on ottoman and couch, begins a yell before he catches a look at me. "Okay, what. Is going on here?"
"M?"
Miasma squints hard and I flash a bit of my face through the one I'm wearing, and he raises his eyebrows in surprise.
"Hey, buddy, what's going on?" He calls me that to protect my True Name; there's power in our True Names and he's very conscientious of that.
"You texted that you needed help! I thought you were strapped into some torture room because of the whole Impersonation case."
Miasma glances at his phone and reads our text chain.
"Oh shit; I meant to put a question mark. I was asking if you needed help. That's my bad, I'm sorry bud."
I kinda stand there, full door in hand, a buff little baby gremlin thing, awkwardly breathing and taking it all in.
"House arrest looks good on you." "You think?" "Often." "Solid goof, buddy. Need a Writ of Passage to get back topside?" "I would love one, yeah." "Got you covered."
Miasma gets up from the couch and brushes bits of chow mein off his shirt; he stretches and I hear those satisfying spinal cracks that conjure images of rending marrow from deep within calcified husks. He heads back to find a pen deeper in the apartment and I snap my head around, swiftly searching for a prize I'd meant to have taken ages ago— I find it in the front closet and snag it into the hall and out of sight. M comes back and hands me a Writ.
"That should get you back. You taking the Jake?" "I figured on it, yeah." "It'll be traffic this time of day, but it's still the best path out." "Hell traffic is kind of comforting, you know? It's congestion you can trust." "Hear, hear. Hey listen, it was great seeing you, bud, but they do have a regularly scheduled check and I can't have visitors, so." "Right. Yeah. Of course. Miss you, M." "Back atcha, bud."
I hand him the door. He gives me a bit of a salute, and before he sits back into his routine he says:
"Make sure you get more than just the kid for your services. Remember the formula: overhead, plus hours worked, by minimum infernal quantum expenditure, adjusted by at least ten percent, travel time inclusive." "I remember, M." "Taught you well, didn't I?"
I smile at him and head to the Jake. It's going to be a long climb up, and my tiny little Demon Baby arms, filled with their rippling muscles as they are, are going to be sore when I reach the top of the ladder, but that's to be expected; when I crest the top and deal with whatever xenophobic xenomorphs are on duty, the Writ only making my exit slightly easier to negotiate, I'm gonna be held up so much longer than I want to be, but that's also to be expected; when I find the reversing recipe that will pop me back into my original form and leave this kid behind, I'm gonna be doubly sore, but you know what? I smile to myself, as I snap the towel I stole from Miasma's closet over my shoulders to hang off my neck as I begin the long climb up: things like this always happen on the job— it’s practically expected.
You’re a demon. One day, you’re summoned into a living room, and an exhausted woman quickly rambles about needing to get to work and being unable to find a sitter before flying out the door. Now, you stand in your summoning circle, a toddler staring wide eyed at you.
