"...and I mean, they say there's this whole 'destiny' thing that I'm supposed to follow, but, like, the gods couldn't be bothered to write down even the tiniest bit of instructions!?
Nobody knows what it is I'm supposed to be doing at all! It just feels like I have no one that I can talk to about this stuff, and it's just super-frustrating! It's just like, no one cares about me as an actual person; Y'know what I mean, Pog?"
"SPOT OF TEA, FRIEND?"
"...You're not even listening, are you?"
(Trying out some of the Hero Forge duo minis options and seeing if I can match some of the poses and gestures to the backstory scene I'm writing. Got hooked into finishing it and have definitely stayed up way too late tinkering with it)

Hi! Do you know any sort of dice formula (doesent have to be a conventional one) that would leave you with a range of posibilities 1-178? It can start with some higher number so long as the total set of answer are 178 options, but ive been racking my brain for a while trying to figure it out for this game im trying and now I wonder wether its even possible. Are there calculators or arithmetic for this sort of thing?
Unfortunately, that's impossible by conventional means if you need the outcomes to be evenly weighted. 178 is a multiple of 89, and 89 is a prime number. The number of possible evenly weighted outcomes a given set of dice can produce is always going to be a multiple of the factors of the number of sides on the individual dice, so in order to get exactly 178 evenly weighted outcomes you'd need an 89-sided die.
However, you may have alternatives depending on what you're trying to do with it, if you're willing to tolerate a small amount of rerolling. For example, if this is for a lookup table (i.e., so there's no need for the numbers used to fall into a continuous range), it's not hard to find a set of dice which yields 180 distinct, evenly weighted outcomes (180 being the closest number to 178 which is neither prime nor has a large prime factor), then reroll any outcome of 179 or 180.
Consider, for example, a two-stage arrangement where a d20 is used to select one of twenty sub-tables, then each sub-table has nine entries. A nine-entry sub-table can be achieved using a three-by-three grid where the row and column are selected via a pair of d6 rolls, such that each row or column spans two numbers. (e.g., rolling 2 and then 4 would give you first row, second column.) That gives you 180 evenly weighted outcomes; include two "dud" or reroll entries somewhere in your sub-tables and you have exactly 178 possible options.

Can I request either Jade or Azul with, “let’s flip a coin, heads I’m yours, tails your mine.” They seem like the type to make that kind of deal.
haven't done Azul yet ouhhhh

Azul doesn't like playing games of chance.
This is the first real thing he tells you about himself. You had brought a deck of cards to the lounge, and asked to play war; he immediately shot you down.
"What's the purpose of a game without strategy?"
He's shared many more things about himself since, but none had captured your interest quite as much as his distaste for luck.
You've let it sit at the back of your mind, waiting for a moment like this.
"Here's how you play," you explain, setting the dice in front of him.
"You only get to roll the dice five times per turn. Once you think you've got the highest number, you end your turn. Highest number at the end wins."
Azul narrows his eyes as you describe the rules of the game.
"So this is... purely...?"
"Luck," you finish his sentence. "It's fun, you'll like it."
He grumbles under his breath, but the smile on your face is enough to dissuade him from turning you down.
"Alright. One round, and then I get to pick the next game,"
Azul cups the dice in hand, a melodious symphony of clinks coming from within his palms as he shakes and rolls.
"Five, eleven, twenty four..." he counts each one. "Only thirty one. Five turns, you say? I'll roll again."
You can tell he's pretending to be disinterested, much to your delight.
"Eleven, twenty one, twenty eight, twenty nine... thirty four. That's not much better,"
"Having fun?"
He shoots you a glare, scooping up the dice between you for his third roll.
"Thirty five. It seems that low thirties are the average. I'll keep this, then,"
You can't help a grin. You can tell he's trying to work out the game in his head, searching for something to turn it in his favor... and coming up short.
The expression on his face is pure frustration. It's amazing.
"Forty," you're unable to hold back the glee in your voice.
Azul narrows his eyes. "Keeping?"
"Oh, yes. Your turn,"
He draws the dice on the table back to himself, eyes sharp. You love seeing this side of him; competitive, analytical, and oh-so frustrated.
"Seventeen. I'll reroll," he mutters. "Twenty five..."
He settles at thirty one, handing the dice back to you with a scowl. You roll, smiling widely.
"Oh, my... thirty eight!"
Azul's face pales. "Wh- how? On your first try? What are you playing at?"
You can tell his patience is wearing thin. You gasp in mock-offense, putting a hand over your heart.
"Are you implying that I cheated? We're using the same dice, Azul!"
"Sevens. You really find it so entertaining to watch me squirm?"
"I just like seeing that look on you," you smile, leaning against your elbow.
"You're all cute when you're competitive."
Azul narrows his eyes, trying to maintain himself despite the blush on his face. "I want to play something else. My choice,"
You watch him stand and walk across the room with a chuckle. He's always so easy to get a rise out of...
"Here," he says, returning to your side with nothing but a coin.
"Since you like games of chance so much, I have one we can both win."
You raise an eyebrow. Out of all the things you'd expected from him, this is not one. "Really? ...Where's the fun in that?"
He smiles slyly, almost looking pleased with himself. His mood has taken a complete 180, much to your curiosity.... and dread.
"Let's flip coins. Head, I'm yours. Tails... you're mine,"
...Azul takes as much delight in seeing your face go red as you did riling him up.
He's even prepared to dodge when you lunge at him in a vain attempt to take the coin out of his upper hand.
"Tsk, tsk..." he chuckles. "Who's competitive now?"

My submission for weird dice Wednesday is this set of d6s that go in increments of 10 all the way up to 180 found mixed in with a ton of regular d6s and d20s at my local baseball card store.
Tumblr media
The dice themselves aren’t that weird, it’s more weird how out of place they were. Apparently they’re used for the Pokémon TCG but this store did not sell any Pokémon cards whatsoever, just baseball cards and a couple board games.

If possible please either pick up four Six-Sided dice or use this dice generator and roll out a random number- that number will be your prompt! Cause pirates live on chance y'see?
If you take this challenge please do not read your options before you roll, but if you are uncomfortable with the result do go ahead and re-roll. Thank you and I hope you enjoy these prompts
1. Lunch! Your crew is having a meal in the ship’s mess. Do they behave themselves? What are they eating? BONUS: you show either the Cooking process or the cleanup
2. Dead End Race- your oc is sailing in competition with other oc pirate crews! (Bonus: What is the prize at the end?)
3. Your Crew have somehow made it to the Vanilla Kingdom! Costume swap for the win? (Note: If you don’t follow the CRK game/lore feel free to re-roll)
4. Soon May the Wellerman Come~ pick an appropriately sea-themed song for this prompt!

6. Someone on the Crew has done a Naughty. How does your OC punish their sailor? 7. Sea Monster Attack! It’s up to your OC’s crew to save their ship. How does it go?
8. Your OC has gotten sick. Who looks after them and do they behave as a patient? BONUS: How’d they get sick anyway?

These beauties will be available in tomorrows sh0p update. I have another 180 sets ready, so there will be a lot of options back in the sh0p. These dice were inspired by the "Vapour Wave" aesthetic.
What do you think?

counting dogs
my piece for the 'first try techno challenge'! i actually got dream and decided to roll again and combine the next roll which was the hound army! anyway, written with two minutes to spare <3 <3
“There’s no way you know all their names,” said Dream. Despite the heavy armor and his wide-legged, firm stance, the mass of dogs was still pushing him around and he struggled to stand in one place. “I mean, there’s like—”
He paused, clearly attempting to count.
Techno let him, mouth pulled into a grin, one eyebrow shooting up as far as it could go. When the silence stretched on, Techno gave him a little nudge, metaphorically.
“There’s…”
Dream twitched, turning his head towards Techno.
“There’s like, forty of them,” he said. “No way you know all their names, Technoblade.”
“I mean, there’s actually about 180 but who’s countin’. Who’s countin’…” He reached down and scratched one of the dog’s ears as it wagged its tail so excitedly that its whole body went with the tail. “Well, you were but let’s just forget about that.”
“Oh my god…”
Dream’s ears – the only part visible beneath the mask and the hood – turned bright red. It was probably rude to laugh but Techno did anyway, the dogs barking at the sound, working themselves up. Reaching out, Dream caught himself on the wall as one particularly eager dog bowled into him.
“Hey, Em, easy girl,” said Techno, making his way over. The dogs parted for him easily, tails going a mile a minute, accompanied by quiet barks and whines. “See? Nothin’ to it, Dream.”
“Yeah, well, that’s because they’re yours so they listen to you.”
“That is usually how it works, yup.”
“You’re so annoying.” Dream steadied himself. “But there’s seriously no way you’ve named all the dogs.”
Techno held his hands up, chuckling.
“Okay, you got me there, Dream. I haven’t got around to namin’ them all.”
“So you don’t know all their names,” said Dream, tone of voice triumphant, pointing a finger at Techno. “Which means I was right.”
Lightly, Techno smacked his hand away and one of the dogs took the action as an invitation to play, jumping up on Dream eagerly, licking at the mask. Techno was expecting a harsh reaction, had tensed in preparation for it, but Dream only made a noise of vague disgust and pushed the dog away.
“Ah ah ah. I know all the names of the dogs that have names.” Techno knelt, ruffling the fur of the closest dog. “So technically I know all of the dogs’ names.”
“What? No! That’s not—” Dream sputtered, trying to find a way to argue, wanting to argue, and coming up short. “Whatever.”
“So, you admit that you’re wrong.”
He was wrong but Dream would never admit to it.
“Shut up, Techno.”
“That’s what I thought,” he said, patting the dog on the head as he got to his feet.
Dream watched him, head tilted to the side. With the mask, the effect was strange, almost childlike.
“You should let me name a dog.”
“You wanna name a dog?”
It wasn’t an immediate refusal, more like an offer, and Dream straightened.
“Yeah.” A short pause. “Name it… Name it ‘Dream Has a House’.”
Techno laughed, loud and booming, and set the dogs off again. A mass of dog flesh writhed in the small space and Techno reached out, trying to pat each one as best he could.
“Easy, Dice. Easy, Fossilnet. Easy, Max.” After a moment, the barking and whining died down. “Alright, alright, but only for you, Dream.”

NINJAGO DR (pontential?) SPOILERS
I haven't seen Part 2 yet, just the leaks, but the funniest part about Jay being evil is that he was always kind of a liability to begin with. Speaking as a Jay fan, this loser has caused so much shit, ranging from unlocking Aspheera's tomb, to giving away the ninja's disguises in Season 7, to accidentally stabbing his own hand on a Fangpyre skeleton, etc. Hell, this man caused the entirety of Season 12 because he couldn't be arsed to look for clues and really wanted to play video games. Man's competence switch is on an electric metronome set to 180, and it is a roll of the dice if he's gonna cause some shenanigans or not.
Heck, even when working for the Administration he caused them shenanigans. He avoided chasing Arin, and while it was partly because it wasn't in his jurisdiction, you can't argue that he didn't also want to play his video games. And again later he messes up catching Bonzle because his heart's not in it (granted he gets distracted by the Wu orb).
The effort he puts behind something varies GREATLY depending on how invested he is (if he's super into it, like ninjaing and being a hero, then he's on his A game, but when he's not pressed, odds are he'll roll a Nat 1). I'm super interested to see how they'll write Jay in S2 P2. Will he be super evil and competent, or will he be the wishy-washy, sincere and honest bumblefuck we know and love him for?

Right, so more NSBU thoughts:
The level of intentionality put into the dual character creation process seems VERY impressive. Most if not all of the cast has several juicy layers of contrast to work through! It’s also fascinating to see that there’s a full Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson’s Jumanji film thing going on here, in that there isn’t necessarily a wish fulfillment element going on with the movie personas, so much as a very abrupt shove into adventure and weirdness.
There’s this line that pops up in Dimension 20: dice tell stories. And, already, the dice are telling us a few stories:
Paula doesn’t really want to bust Liv, but Liv isn’t really that good at hiding her kleptomania; I’m glad Paula is already asking if everything’s alright at home because Liv’s obvious lie about DEFINITELY spending time at her home is quite concerning. Additionally, Paula doing decently well with Jack’s chase also makes sense, as there’s overlap between her sense of herself as law-adjacent and Jack’s actual job as a detective.
Dang adapted quickly to being Greg Stocks! Given Rashab’s ambiguous existence, this makes sense, as he’s perhaps the character with the most fluid understanding of reality of the six.
Usha completely biffing that first roll also makes a lot of sense, as G13 is a COMPLETE 180 from her standard set of competencies. She SHOULDN’T be doing well at this stage of things!
Quite excited to see where things go from here! 🧨💥

Wow dinner looked delish, mate! You cooked that?! Without burning down the flat? please add the recipe, much appreciated!
Hello.
Certainly! Here's the recipe.
Objective:
Cook a layered seafood dish by applying heat to induce the Maillard reaction, soften vegetables, and cook the seafood through controlled thermal conduction.
Materials:
- Olive oil (approx. 2 tbsp, depending on pan surface area)
- Green and yellow bell peppers (100g each, diced to ~1cm³ for even heat distribution)
- Onion (1 medium, ~150g, diced)
- Garlic (2 cloves, crushed, to release allicin compounds)
- Plantain (1 large, sliced into ~0.5 cm-thick discs for even cooking)
- Cod fish chunks (200g, cut into uniform pieces to ensure even cooking, ~3cm³)
- Shrimps (200g, peeled and deveined)
- Lime (1 unit, juiced, containing citric acid to enhance flavour and denature proteins)
- Chilli flakes (~1 tsp, source of capsaicin for heat)
- Parsley (~1 tbsp, finely chopped, optional for garnish and flavour)
- Salt (~1 tsp, NaCl, for seasoning and osmotic balance)
Procedure:
1. Initial Heat Transfer:
Add olive oil (a heat-stable lipid) to a pan over medium heat. The goal is to raise the oil's temperature to around 180°C (its smoke point) to facilitate heat transfer to the ingredients without burning.
2. Vegetable Sautéing:
Introduce diced bell peppers, onions, and crushed garlic into the heated oil. The purpose here is to soften the cell walls of the vegetables through thermal conduction, releasing their natural sugars and enhancing flavour. The crushed garlic will begin to release allicin, contributing to aromatic compounds.
- Time: ~5 minutes, or until onions are translucent (indicating sufficient moisture loss and softening)
3. Plantain Layering:
Layer sliced plantain over the vegetables. Plantain contains starch that will soften and caramelise due to heat, while its sugars will brown slightly on the pan-facing side through the Maillard reaction.
4. Seafood Addition:
Place cod chunks and shrimp on top of the plantain layer. The cod and shrimp contain proteins, which denature at temperatures between 40°C and 60°C, causing them to firm up and cook through.
5. Acid and Seasoning Integration:
Pour lime juice over the seafood. The citric acid in the lime will begin to denature surface proteins. This enhances the texture and flavour of the seafood. Add chilli flakes for capsaicin (providing heat) and parsley for herbaceous notes.
6. Simmering Phase:
Lower the heat and cover the pan. Allow the contents to simmer gently. The purpose of this phase is to cook the seafood thoroughly (internal temperature of shrimp should reach 63°C, cod 60°C), while allowing the flavours of the layers to meld through diffusion.
-Time: Simmer for ~8-10 minutes, or until seafood is opaque and firm
7. Final Assessment:
Verify that the seafood has reached its ideal doneness (shrimp turns pink, cod flakes easily). Adjust seasoning if necessary before serving.
Outcome:
A balanced dish where the natural sweetness of the vegetables and plantain complements the tender seafood, with bright acidity and controlled heat from the chilli flakes.
Rosamund and I didn't set fire to the apartment (just a dish towel got singed).

Actually good egg white omelette
~170-180 cal
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This omelette is light, has a well-rounded flavor, and has a very adjustable recipe, so it’s a personal favorite!
Recipe below:
Ingredients:
3 egg whites- 51 cal
1/3 tomato, diced- 7 cal
1/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese- 112 cal
Boomer’s fiesta brand fajita seasoning (or salt, pepper, garlic, msg(optional) and onion to taste)- 0 cal
0 cal non-stick oil spray- 0 cal
(Optional)
1 tbsp shredded parsley- 1 cal
1/2 tbsp shredded dill- 1 cal
1/2 cup sliced portabella mushrooms- 8 cal
Cooking
The appeal of this recipe is the size of the food for the low amount of calories. This comes from heavily whipping the egg whites, so while you CAN make this without whipping them, it’s better if you do. I highly recommend using a hand or stand mixer over a whisk!
In a bowl:
Crack three eggs, separate the yolks, and pour only the whites into your bowl. The yolks can be thrown away or used in a different recipe.
Add your powder seasoning to your yolks
Prepare your other ingredients before whipping the whites
Whip your egg whites until they have a thick, airy consistency, are a white or off-white color, and have soft peaks. (I mean really whip them)
Out of bowl:
Before you whip your egg whites, dice your tomato, slice your (optional) mushrooms, and shred your (optional) dill and parsley.
Keep these on the side until you’re finished whipping the egg whites. Once you’ve achieved soft peaks, preheat a pan on the stove, then fold your tomatoes (and dill and parsley) into the batter using your whisk or a fork.
Once the ingredients are combined, spray your nonstick oil onto your pan, pour out your fluffy mixture, spreading it evenly across the pan, and set to medium-low heat
If you’re adding them, place your sliced mushrooms across the top of your mixture, being sure to evenly distribute them.
place a lid over your pan and allow your omelette to simmer for 3-6 minutes.
Remove the lid, sprinkle your mozzarella across the top of your omelette evenly, and use your spatula to fold it in half.
Flip your omelette, cooking it on both sides, until you’re satisfied with the golden brown color on both sides.
Plate your omelette and serve with a drink (tea is the best with this recipe!)
Fin!

Weird dice Wednesday! (Almost) matching set of funky shaped d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20, as well as the oddly numbered small red dice. They're numbered 10-60, 70-120, and 130-180. All found in the loose dice bin at my local games store
