Rayman's Rage [Rayman 2 Fanfic]

By the time Rayman burst into Razorbeard's quarters, he was blind with rage.

He had been imprisoned on Razorbeard's slave ship. Stripped of his powers. Beaten, taunted and mocked. Then thrown in a cell to rot.

He had been forced to witness unspeakable atrocities inflicted onto fellow prisoners. People who once lived peacefully in the Glade, people he had a duty to protect. Now they were in what he could only describe as hell.

When he escaped and returned to land, what he saw there was almost worse. The pirates had left nothing but destruction in their wake. The Glade and its remaining inhabitants were broken shells of their former selves.

The more he pushed on, the bleaker it got. Stories of people disappearing, simply vanishing without a trace. Feared to have been captured by the pirates, or worse. Anguished, tear stained faces of families mourning their loved ones. So much pain and loss. He felt it all. It threatened to consume him.

The Glade he knew had been a place of peace and tranquility, but this was different. This wasn't peace, it was emptiness. Everybody was hiding. Nobody wanted to be found.

At some point, the heaviness in his heart morphed into seething restement. A pure, burning hatred towards the pirates and what they had done to his home, to the people he cared about.

He wasn't sure when exactly it happened. But if he had to guess, it may have been when he encounted a distraught Uglette in the Iron Mountains, wailing because the pirates had taken Globox and the children, and now she had nothing left.

Or when he freed Ly, severely weakened from imprisonment and possibly torture at the hands of the pirates.

It had to be upon encountering Clark, who, despite his enormous prowess, was on the brink of death when he found him. In fending off the pirates, he had used all but the last of his strength.

There were too many such incidents to count. But each one solidified his resolve to hunt down Razorbeard and destroy him. That's what kept him going towards the end, like a flame burning brightly on candlewax. It was no longer about being a hero. It was about retribution.

So when he finally reached Razorbeard's quarters and kicked in the doors, Rayman's body was burning with rage. A rage that until now, he hadn't known he was capable of feeling. A rage that made him want to avenge his friends who had been horrifically scarred, and his home that had been brought to near destruction. A rage that reduced his vision down to a single pinpoint. A rage that made him want to destroy everything in sight.

Rayman's eyes locked in on Razorbeard as he started swinging his fist. He channelled the pain, the trauma, the rage, condensing it all into a single point, ready to aim.

He was going to make this one count. For his friends. For the Glade.

Sadly, the Esland Awards have been an event with a history of much controversy, a lot of division, and a lot of divisions within the community, and as you guys know, as you know, my content has never been characterized by seeking controversy or divisions or anything like that. It's for this exact reason that I don't want to be involved with these awards.

Price: Oh, Price would absolutely love you giving his snake some gifts that you made yourself. Yes, he’s aware that you gifted him Mister Slithers and that it’s his responsibility now. But! You’re giving him a self made gift for the little critter? He’s gonna pull you into the biggest hug and give you the biggest smile he can muster. I think Price would invite you over to his home so he can give Mister Slithers its new cozy little ring to get all comfy in. As soon as it goes in? He’s gonna take a million pictures of it poking out of its little hidey hole. He knows you’re good at handling snakes, so he’s gonna let you touch and pet Mister Slithers while you’re over. Besides, the little snake is a good sport anyway, it has never bitten anyone before! If you have a lot of snakes yourself, then Price is probably going to research a little something to gift you in return. I don’t think he’d be able to make his own cozy ring like that, but he might give you a new little something for your reptiles to hide in. He wants to share his love for snakes with you as well. Is gonna send you some pictures here and there of Mister Slithers chilling in its cozy ring while on his chest.

Gaz: There’s a good chance snake Kyle would ignore its new lil cozy ring at first. Human Kyle would need to usher it into it at first. Not that he threatens it into it, but it might need a little motivation to get in there. But when it does? Well, on the outside, Gaz tries to not seem too excited. But on the inside? He’s absolutely losing it. The snake looks absolutely adorable in its little cozy ring. He’s gonna take a trillion pictures and send you all of those. He loves snake Kyle so much, he wishes he was able to take it on walks as well. But he would never want to put a leash on it, even if he could. He loves giving his snake all the freedom it could possibly ever have. Within the moderation of safety, of course. I think once he’s seen it being all cozy in its cozy ring, he’d love to get snake sweaters for it as well. Just some small tube made of soft fabric, hand made, for his little critter to slither into and feel good and warm in. Though, I do think he’d commission you to make something like that for him. And he will pay four times the price that you ask for. Will also give you money if you want to give it to him for free.

Ghost: He’d probably give you a thousand yard stare if you tell him it’s for the snake. Honestly? He probably tries to forget he has it in the first place until it’s feeding time again. You’d probably have to show him how to use it. The snake would probably love you, so it’d crawl in without much of a fuss, refusing to get out again. Even Ghost had to admit that it looked kinda cozy in its fluffy little ring. As much as he hated that critter, it looked kinda cute with its little head poking out. He’d thank you and let you play with the snake until you had to go again, leaving him alone with it. It would probably refuse to get out of the ring, feeling safer in it as it would believe Ghost wouldn’t be able to spot it. He’d probably leave the ring in its enclosure. Though, he would sometimes walk over to the terrarium and see how it was doing from then on. He wouldn’t really interact with it, he’d just watch it go about its day, lying underneath the warm lamp, drinking a little bit of water and whatnot. When he watches the snake drink some water? Well, it’s kinda cute how it dunks its entire head in and opens its mouth a little bit. Don’t get me wrong, he still wouldn’t touch it without gloves, but his skin wouldn’t crawl as much anymore when he watches it. It’s tiny, it’s not venomous, and it certainly seems more afraid of him than he is of it. He could probably beat it in a fight. Sometimes the two of them can be caught staring at each other.

Soap: “Ach, bonnie, how’s Sniffer supposed to fit in there?” And then, like the mad lad the snake is, it actually fits in there. Soap would probably invite you over for a drink or two so he can show you just how big Sniffer’s gotten. It’s not as fun since you’re not afraid of touching a snake, or of snakes in general, but it’s nice to chat with you a little bit. I do think he’s gonna hold the cozy ring open right in front of Sniffer for it to slither into, and it actually does. Soap will probably carry the entire ring with the snake in it to you to show you how strong he is and how adorable Sniffer is. Will probably let you feed it as well, regardless of whether or not it’s been fed. He just wants to bond with you. Will probably leave the cozy ring in the shed for the snake to enjoy. Sometimes he does walk in on Sniffer being in the middle of enjoying a nap in its fluffy little, or big, ring. He probably bothers the snake and wakes it up by giving it a *pap pap* as some pats. Doesn’t matter if you’re a human or a reptile, John Soap MacTavish will bother you either way. He’s totally gonna put the ring on top of himself while Sniffer is in it. After all, snakes do enjoy warmth, don’t they? And Soap is probably the warmest person you’ll ever meet.

I can’t believe we got an infodump on simple domains AGAIN over a Sukuna backstory.

Usually I am one to give Gege the benefit of the doubt and will read heavily into what little information we are given. But I can't defend this chapter themes or character wise.

Even if this turns out to be a fakeout, going in painstaking detail over a show-not-tell battle in a way that lacks characterization and heartfelt emotion sucks to read. Even if the new shadow style and simple domain debacle goes somewhere, having it the main focus after an extremely traumatic battle instead of characters processing their emotions sucks to read. Even if Gojo is alive and that's why they're this chipper, everyone ignoring his sacrifice and efforts along with Choso's sucks to read.

I'm happy Yuta and Higuruma are alive but why was their revival off-screened? Yuta was so defensive over Gojo and everyone treating him like an object just 8 chapters ago. What happened to that? Why is everyone treating this battle like it was no big deal? (Also why the fudge did Kusakabe tell Yuji, a 15 year old, to his face he should've been killed while disparaging Gojo for protecting the life of a child???)

After the Shibuya Incident, there was a whole segment dedicated to how this affected the average person. The Culling Games ended and there are still bloodthirsty freaks running around. What happened to them? Is Angel hunting them down and that's why Hana is missing? Infodumping on anything except the battle would've been better.

I doubt we'll get any more info on Sukuna, Kenjaku, and Tengen at this point. We'll be lucky if there's a funeral for even Geto's body. Shoko was absent this entire chapter which makes me thing she's still trying to save Gojo or she's preparing their bodies for a funeral.

Anyways. This is the worst JJK chapter for me hands down. My hopes for the final 2 are mostly dashed. Crunch and poor working conditions really do ruin art my goodness.

I personally think its disgusting of what she posted yet again its all about her and she the reason why micheal keeps trending 4th day oh please he was trending for days before she came in the picture. Oh, boy. I saw this a little while ago, and all I could think was that the bar is so low at this point--like halfway between the fourth and fifth circles of Hell--and this still somehow falls short.

I know there has been a lot of talk about the t-shirt Anna is wearing (which was a gift from a fan at the stage door of Nye), but for me, the t-shirt is the least concerning part of all this. It's a reference to a quote from Staged (it's the title of a season 1 episode, in fact), and I am sure Michael found it funny. The only problem is that without the context of why it's a joke, it actually just isn't that funny. And it sets the stage for everything else that is happening.

Which brings me to the caption she wrote, which was what primarily caught my attention. The reason Michael is currently trending on Twitter (X, whatever we're calling it) is because of the overwhelmingly positive response to The Assembly, which aired last Friday night. He is receiving a tremendous amount of praise for being on the show, how he spoke to the interviewers, and the respectful and joyous atmosphere that was cultivated on the show. And rather than allude to any of that--not to mention Michael being sick recently, or the trip they went on to Disneyland Paris--Anna made Michael trending on Twitter about her.

That is what stands out to me the most. The idea of "keeping him grounded" that is coming across more like kicking someone when he is already down. That he somehow needs that, and that she would have us believe he is "grateful" to her for, what...comparing him to a loud bird? Repeatedly making fun of his looks and interests without a shred of respect or affection behind it? I'm also confused by the implication (and the irony) that Michael somehow has a large ego that needs to be kept in check when she is the one coming across as self-involved in this Insta story. So, yes. I'm at a bit of loss here.

I just keep thinking of the things she could have said instead. How she could have uplifted Michael, wished him well on returning to the stage tonight after several days' absence, said how she was glad to have spent time with him or taken care of him while he was ill. Just something that would give him a reason to hold his head high. But I guess it might just be easier to convince herself/everyone else that he is smiling if his head is hanging down instead.

I am just glad Michael is out performing again tonight and getting to be on stage and do the thing he truly loves to do. But those are my thoughts, and I'd be glad to hear from my followers about what you think, regardless of whether you agree or disagree...
