Husk-Grilled Corn with Smoky Lime Butter
Freshly harvested corn comes as this perfect package ready to grill and eat: Just let the corn steam inside its husks. Learn to make Husk-Grilled Corn with Smoky Lime Butter.
Freshly harvested corn comes as this perfect package ready to cook and eat: Peel back the husks until they fan out around the ear’s base, remove the silk, and then fold the husks back up the ear and lay it on a grill, let the corn steam inside its own husks. Any silk you miss burns off with the heat or comes off when you pull away the warm husks, revealing the sweet, lightly charred kernels along…

Could you do “Why did you choose me?” for Parkner?
"Why did you choose me?"
Harley's head turns suddenly, the words registering in his mind but not fully comprehending.
In his defense, he isn't expecting that sort of question while they're standing in the canned vegetable aisle of the grocery store.
Harley had been in an intense mental debate between two different brands of baked beans when Peter said the words that still aren't making sense.
"To go... grocery shopping with me?" Harley asks slowly.
"No. I... to be with you."
"At the grocery store?"
"In this relationship."
Harley blinks, the confusion quickly shifting into concern and alarm. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong."
"Something's gotta be wrong if you're asking questions like that while holding a can of Del Monte corn. Which, maybe set that down before you crack it open." Harley gently pulls the now very dented can from Peter's hand, his touch slackening his grip. Harley intertwines their fingers. "Where's this comin' from?"
"There's a lot of corn in the world."
"...Yeah I guess so. Tennessee's more of a soybean state than corn, but I know there's the yellow and purple kind. Probably more. There's blue ones right? Because the chips are blue." He pauses. "We should get some salsa."
"Harley," Peter says, grabbing Harley's hand as he starts to drift towards the canned tomatoes. "There's a lot of corn in the world. There's corn on the cob and the kind that come off the cob in freezer bags and kernels that turn into popcorn—"
"I don't think I'm following."
"—and there's the kind that comes in the can," Peter finishes, breath heaving like he's just single-handedly fought of a whole hoard of aliens. "And... and the kind that comes in the can is tinny and it's submerged in water and you've gotta drain the water out and when you warm it up it gets hard but if you don't then it's lukewarm unless you put it in the fridge and have it cold but then the can is cold—"
"Peter," Harley says, grabbing Peter's face in his hands.
"I'm like canned corn. I've got all these extra steps and extra problems and extra baggage and trauma and you could have the corn on the cob or the frozen corn or anything easier than canned."
Harley stares at Peter, mind racing as it finally clicks. He runs a thumb over Peter's cheek and presses a soft kiss to his forehead.
"Corn on the cob's gotta be shucked. It makes a mess and doesn't always break easily and you gotta cook it and it doesn't taste the same if you boil it or broil it or grill it."
Peter's eyes go wide, clearly not expecting this response.
"Frozen corn's gotta be warmed up too. You can put it in the microwave but when you pour it, it's got boiling hot juice and condensation that spills on your hand when cut it open. And if you leave it in the fridge too long it gets stale and covered in frost and gets stuck together in one big ice-corn cube."
Harley taps his finger on Peter's chin, making a face like he's pretending to think. "And, y'know, now that you say it, I don't actually know how to make my own popcorn. I just get the kind that comes in the bag that you pop right into the microwave. I'm guessing it takes a lot of skill to not get everywhere and cook just right."
Harley smiles. "But I like canned corn a lot. It's reliable. You know what you're getting and you know it's gonna be good. And yeah, sure, cooking it might be a pain, but I don't see anything wrong with how it is. Just a spoon and a can of corn, juice and all."
Harley shakes Peter lightly by the shoulders. "I love you because you're you, Peter. Not because it's always gonna be easy. Not because you're the simplest choice. But because you're you, all of the tin and juice and inability to warm up."
Peter chuckles wetly.
"So you know what? Even if you've got more extra steps than the frozen corn or more problems than the corn on the cob or more trauma than the corn kernels — which, in my opinion, I think whatever that process is to turn it into popcorn is so much more traumatic than whatever you've got," Peter laughs again, "know that it's all worth it. Because I love you. And you're worth taking the extra steps. And you're also worth not taking any extra steps at all and just accepting who you are already."

Art Used in the Dragon Age: Official Cookbook: Tastes of Thedas
While there was some new art, previously seen concept art, there was also the use of ending credit slides. Some possibly denoting certain world states that I briefly referred to in the master post here.
I've split it into sections of:
New Art
Previously Shown Art
Character Art and Slides
General World State Ending Slides
Everything is going below the cut because this will be long. I will also note which page and recipe each image accompanies in the book for easy reference. (Here's to hoping tumblr doesn't mess with the image layout.)
Edit 10/30/2023: Added the page numbers that were missed because it glitched out and deleted things when I tried to go over 30 images and didn't notice till now.
New Art

Page numbers from top left to right going down:
Orlesian Woman: Sour Cherries in Cream, p. 121, Tevinter Pumpkin Bread, p. 151
Building Etching: Crow Feed, p. 43, Antivan Sip-Sip, p. 161
Spider Design: Posion Stings, p. 115
Sea Creature: Lamprey Cake, p. 147
Smoking Meat Racks: Smoked Ham from the Anderfels, p. 95
Antaam Spearman: Unidentified Meat, p. 37
Admiral Isabela: The Hissing Drake, p. 157
Etching of Bowl: Rivaini Couscous Salad, p. 19
Etching of Platter: Nevarran Blood Orange Salad, p. 13
Table Setting: Goat Custard, p. 127
Red Bear: Conversion Charts, p. 172
Giant: Lamprey Cake, p. 149
Blue Building: About the Authors and Photoghraphers, p. 175
Mabari and Army: Roasted Turkey with Sides, p. 99
These are all new images with three of these looking to be concept art: the presumably Orlesian woman looking at Andrastian themed items, the antaam spearman preparing to throw a spear, and the table setting of what looks like it might be for Rivain or Tevinter based on the aesthetic. Though I lean more Tevinter due to the snake on the basket.
The bowl and platter look to maybe be prop designs, and they are distinctly bird themed with what looks like feathers around the base of the bowl and then mirrored crows on either side of the platter with a dagger etched in the center.
The red bear shown here is new, though it is similar to a mural in Dragon Age: Inquisition in the barn where there is a green-ish bear with stars on its muzzle breathing what might be fire, while holding the white silhouette of a figure with antlers. (Couldn't attach it due to there being a photo limit.)
Then to further note that the dark blue building image looks similar to some concept art/Development images from Dragon Age: Dreadwolf (DA4)

Previously Shown Art
The piece below have been shown elsewhere before, but there are some new additions so I am showing it here separately from the new art.

Ferelden Spread: Roasted Wyvern, p. 85
This is was first shown in The Art of Dragon Age: Inquisition and is labeled as "Fereldan Fineries". It was coloured and lacked the two figures in the back left of this image. (Below)

These were mostly character specific ending slides you could get in DAI, going from the top left to right they are slides for: Trespasser: Human Cole ending up with Maryden. Trespasser: Partial image of a slide for an Inquisitor who agrees to become a red jenny with Sera and the Inquisition is disbanded. Trespasser: Iron Bull and the Chargers are alive and taking jobs throughout Orlais and Ferelden. Trespasser: Varric is Viscount Trespasser: Josephine, her personal quest completed. This is the romanced Josephine version. Trespasser: Leliana, not Divine Trespasser: Cullen, having not taken lyrium during Inquisition Inquisition: Morrigan and Keiran leaving Skyhold World of Thedas vol 2: King Alistair

Antaam Slide: Lentil Soup, p. 63
Halamshiral Slide: The Hanged Man's Mystery Meat Stew, p. 57
Grey Warden Slide: Sweet and Sour Cabbage, p. 61
Disbanded Inquisition Slide: Sugar Cake, p. 145
These were all ending slides you could get at some point in Inquisition, from the top left to right: Trespasser: The Qunari threat Inquisition: Kicked out of Halamshiral with low approval Inquisition: Grey Wardens were kept in southern Thedas to rebuild, they are estranged from the Wardens in Weishaupt Trespasser: The Inquisition was disbanded
Final Thoughts and Implied World State
Overall the world state makes a lot of sense I think, they went with the one that would be less quantum - so no one is dead or could be dead and is in an important role; hence Cassandra being Divine,
Summary
Inquisition is disbanded
Grey Wardens are divided; though as of the comics and Tevinter Nights we know regardless all Wardens have been called back to Weisshaupt. Unclear if the civil war mentioned in DAI is actually happening.
Morrigan has Kieran and he doesn't have the old god soul anymore
Cole is human
Josephine had her personal quest done.
Leliana wasn't killed in Origins, she is fully human and now retired.
Alistair is king
Cassandra is Divine, no clear answer on the state of the Seekers.
Cullen is retired and established the sanctuary for former templars.

In which Percy simply has a happy 20th birthday party - A Percy Jackson fanfic
“Close your eyes,” Grover told Percy as he turned onto the road to the Jackson’s cabin in Montauk.
“Haven’t I had enough surprises in my life?” Percy asked, “at this point I’d be more surprised if things just went as expected.”
Grover shrugged, “Annabeth’s orders.”
Percy sighed and closed his eyes. One thing that never failed to surprise him was Annabeth. Smart, beautiful, badass and by some miracle completely in love with him. It was hard to complain about his bad luck when he was lucky enough to call her his girlfriend.
Percy kept his eyes shut while Grover parked and helped him out of the car. Even without his sight the location was unmistakable with its salt air, ocean breeze and chorus of seagulls. This was his favourite place in the world.
“OK open your eyes,” Grover said.
Percy did and was greeted with a chorus of “surprise” and a sight that made this favourite place even better. Their little cabin was decked out in party decorations: balloons, streamers, and a number of others that he didn’t know the names of, all blue. A large banner read “Happy 20th Birthday Percy”. Or that’s what he assumed it said anyway. He was having a hard time focusing on any one thing and the letters wouldn’t stay still. In front of the cabin stood Annabeth; his mom, Sally and his step-dad Paul who was holding his 2 year-old half-sister, Estelle. They all wore blue party hats and big smiles. Annabeth was the first to break away from the group and come give Percy a hug. She was quickly followed by Sally and little Estelle who broke away from her dad in favour of grabbing her big brother’s legs.
“This is amazing,” Percy said , “but you didn’t have to go to this much trouble.”
“Of course we did,” Sally rebuted, “you’ve survived two decades as a powerful demigod, that’s worth celebrating.”
Her tone was teasing but Percy knew that there had been many times over the last 20 years that she worried he’d never see this milestone.
“There’s more to see,” Annabeth interjected, “do you want to show him?” she asked Estelle, who nodded excitedly and grabbed Percy’s hand, leading him around the side of the cabin to the beach.
On the beach stood long tables draped in blue tablecloths and topped with all kinds of blue foods. Hamburgers and hotdogs sizzled on a nearby grill, now manned by Paul. Nearby all sorts of backyard games were set up: horseshoes, corn hole, spike ball and paddle ball. Down the beach was a chest filled to the brim with beach toys: skim and boogie boards, goggles and snorkels, sand shovels and buckets, pool noodles and water guns.
“Wow! I don’t even know where to start,” Percy mused.
“Well you can think about it while we wait for all the guests,” Annabeth teased.
“Who’s all coming?”
Annabeth shrugged, “You’ll see.”
“Never making things easy,” Percy mumbled unable to suppress a smile.
“How many people are we expecting?” Paul asked, “will we have enough room in the drive way. Should we move our cars?”
Annabeth laughed, “I don’t think that will be an issue.”
“What do you me-“ Paul was cut off by a large shadow appearing just in front of them.
Out of it stepped three familiar faces. Before he could even say a word in the way of greeting, Percy was picked up off the ground and enveloped in a bear hug.
“Happy birthday brother,” Tyson sang squeezing Percy harder. Mrs. O’Leary added to the celebration by slathering Percy with big, wet, hellhound kisses. Ella fluttered nearby watching the commotion,
“Tyson missed Percy,” she supplied, “Ella too. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, Sextus Propertius (c 54 b.c. - a.d. 2).”
“Thanks guys,” Percy said when Tyson finally let him go, “and it’s good to see you all,” he continued rubbing Mrs. O’Leary’s ears.
“Have fun,” Sally added, “we have lots of food, and games. Help yourselves to anything.”
All three immediately headed towards the food table, quickly followed by Grover, who it appeared was just waiting for the OK to dig in. Percy briefly wondered what Paul saw as a six and a half foot cyclops, a mastiff the size of a tank, a satyr with horns sprouting on either side of his party hat and goat legs protruding from his Bermuda shorts and a harpy with bird legs and bright red wings made their way towards his station. However, his attention was quickly drawn to the sky as a group of pegasi with riders began to descend. Although they were still far away, Percy could already recognize the pair in the lead as the sun glinted off black wings and bright red-hair.
“Hey boss,” Blackjack greeted Percy as his hooves hit the sand.
“Happy birthday,” Rachel added slipping off his back.
“Thanks,” Percy replied stroking blackjack’s nose and giving Rachel an awkward hug, acutely aware of Annabeth standing behind him, who appeared to be holding back a laugh at his uneasiness.
“Any sugar cubes at that buffet?” Blackjack asked looking towards the food laden tables.
“I’m not sure but you’re more than welcome to check.”
As he cantered away Percy began welcoming the other pegasi and his friends from camp half-blood.  When he finished welcoming the last pair Percy looked around and realized it was starting to really look like a party: Estelle sat on Tyson’s shoulders and clapped as Mrs. O’Leary ran down the beach retrieving a tree trunk Tyson had thrown. Annabeth and Rachel were playing spike ball against the Stoll Brothers. Ella, Grover and many of his camp friends were milling around, chatting and enjoying the food. Paul and Percy’s mom stood to the side in conversation, he could hear Paul asking if they should have bought hay and water troughs. Percy was just about to join them when he was hit by a large gust of wind and a tan-horse appeared beside him. Percy knew who the rider was before he even looked up.
“Hey Hazel, how’s the Legion?” he asked as she slipped off the horses back.
“Much better without active world-ending wars. Thanks for asking,” She joked then proceeded to summon a pile of gold from the ground, which the horse proceeded to eat, “Happy Birthday.”
“Thanks, where’s Frank?”
“He’s on his way.”
“Baby man is slow as-,” Arion, the horse whined, but Percy cut him off,
“That’s not necessary.”
Arion finished his gold and Percy expected him to run off like usual, disappearing over the horizon in 0.5 seconds flat but to his surprise he trotted over towards the group playing fetch. There he was greeted by excited squeals of “horsie” from both Tyson and Estelle, and even more surprising to Percy he let both of them stroke his nose.
“Since when does he let anyone but you touch him?” Percy asked Hazel.
She just shrugged, “he’s an immortal horse, born to two gods in human form, there’s no use trying to understand him.”
That was fair, Percy thought, but before he could verbalize that an eagle flew down from the sky, landed beside Hazel then transformed into a young man.
“Frank,” Percy said grasping his hand and pulling him into a quick hug.
“Happy Birthday.”
“Thanks, did you fly the whole way here from New Rome?”
“No, just from the airport. I took a commercial flight most of the way, we can’t all have a godly horse or metal dragon.”
“Yeah, poor Frank can only shape-shift,” Hazel joked, “but let the record show I did offer for him to ride on Arion with me.”
“Yeah, no offence but I didn’t trust that he wouldn’t buck me off half way across the country and leave me stranded in the middle of Kansas or Colorado.”
Further conversation was cut off by another shadow appearing beside them. Out of it emerged two teens and over a dozen small, shadow creatures.
“Happy Birthday Percy,” Nico greeted him.
“Yeah, Happy Birthday,” Will added.
“Thanks, and thanks for coming,” Percy replied.
“Are you going to say hello to your own sister?” Hazel teased pulling Nico into a hug.
Nico rolled his eyes but immediately hugged her back.
“And how are all my nieces and nephews?” Hazel asked looking at the shadow creatures.
“The Cocoa Puffs are good,” Nico smiled a hint of adoration in his voice.
“They’ve become super popular at camp,” Will shared, “and enjoyed their summer vacation to the underworld.”
“You went on vacation to the underworld?” Frank asked.
“Just for a week,” Will supplied, “It grows on you, once you get to know it,” he finished addressing their questioning looks and shooting a coy smile at his boyfriend.
“Am I late to the party?,” a familiar voice called capturing the groups attention. “My flight was cancelled after I made a big deal of not wanting to use my Dad’s private jet. Luckily, a friend offered me a ride.”
Percy turned to see Piper alongside Tempest, the equine storm-spirit. He was happy to see her but the scene conjured up an ache in his heart as he was reminded that one of his friends wouldn’t be joining them: Jason. Jason was Piper’s ex-boyfriend and the one who had tamed and made Tempest a part of their group. He died over a year ago now and Percy still found it hard to believe. Part of him wanted to think he was with them in spirit but he knew better. Jason deserved better than being stuck between the land of the living and the dead and he had gotten it: Elysium or rebirth. Either way he wouldn’t be here, but his memory still would.
“Hi Piper, how have you been?” Percy asked
“Good, living with my Dad in California has been great,” she replied giving him a hug, “happy birthday.”
“Thanks.”
Piper began greeting the others, giving them hugs and asking them about their lives, while Tempest made his way down the beach to where Arion and Blackjack seemed to be in deep conversation.
Looking around, Percy noted Tyson and Grover were now playing horse shoes, cheered on by Ella and Annabeth. Rachel was playing corn hole against Estelle and Sally. Paul was still at the grill, serving up food to a line of campers with Mrs. O’Leary laying at his feet creating a puddle of drool the size of a kiddie pool.
“So who wants to come swimming?” Piper asked.
“I will,” said Hazel.
“Not me,” Nico offered, “Will made me put on like five layers of sunscreen before we came and I’m not about to just wash it off. Plus, shadow travel still takes it out of me I think I need a bit of a break first.”
“I hear you, the flight from the airport was longer than I thought, I’m wiped,” Frank offered, “would you be up for a low-key card game on the porch?”
“Ah-ya-sure” Nico stuttered.
“I’ll grab some food for all of us, then meet you there,” Will offered.
With that they all went their separate ways leaving Percy standing alone. He was just debating who he wanted to join when a large group came from the front of the house. In the lead were two teenaged girls accompanied by two metallic greyhounds: one gold, the other silver. Behind them came two white horses and at least half a pack of wolves. Percy wondered why the wolves had come with Thalia and Reyna instead of staying with the rest of the Hunters: maybe they had vacation days they needed to use up before they expired, maybe they didn’t trust boys around their lieutenant and felt she required an escort or maybe they just liked to party. It really didn’t matter to Percy, as long as they didn’t eat anyone they were welcome.
Percy greeted the girls excitedly. Out of all his friends they were the ones he saw the least and he was glad they were able to make it. As they gave Percy an update on their hunt for the Teumessian Fox, Mrs. O’Leary bounded up to Reyna’s greyhounds, bowed and wagged her tail ready to play. To Percy’s surprise instead of their eyes glowing or barring their teeth they both began to wag their tails and looked to Reyna.
“Ok, go play,” she told them, and they took off with Mrs. O’Leary in hot pursuit.
Percy blinked, “They play?”
“Their dogs,” Reyna stated.
“I’ve always thought of them more as highly trained, lie-detecting, flesh-ripping, killing machines.”
At that Reyna actually laughed. She seemed lighter now as a Hunter of Artemis, instead of a Praetor of the Twelfth Legion. It suited her. Percy chatted with them for another twenty minutes before Annabeth came to recruit them for a game of beach paddleball. He was about to follow them when a commotion in the water caught his attention.
“RAINBOW!” Tyson yelled as he splashed and clapped as the Hippocampus swam up and nuzzled him, oblivious to Piper, Hazel and the others in the ocean around them.
Percy went down to the water and greeted Rainbow,  the whole time wondering if his friends and family had somehow managed to send him an invitation to the party or if he just sensed they were there and wanted to say hi. They tried to get Percy to stay for a game of Marco Polo but his stomach was growling and the food smelled too good to resist.
He had just finished filling his plate when a bronze dragon descended from the sky, carrying a small shipping container in his claws. When the dragon landed he looked right at Percy, made some creaking noises then shot fire straight into the air.
“Festus says ‘Happy Birthday’,” Leo supplied slipping off the dragon’s back, then helping Calypso down after him.
“Thanks Festus. Good to see you all.”
“You too, man,” Leo said approaching Percy, “sorry we’re late, it took longer than I thought to load everything up.”
“What exactly did you bring?,” Percy asked, “should I be worried about explosions?”
“No explosives this time,” Leo laughed, “just some good old-fashion automatonic pegasus wings.”
Before Percy could ask what he meant, Reyna came over followed by the two white horses.
“One-eye, short-ear, this is Leo, the demigod I told you about. Leo this is one-eye and short-ear.”
Now that the horses were closer Percy could see they weren’t horses at all but the pegasi that had been abused and de-winged by the Triumvirate before being rescued and taken in by Reyna and the hunter’s. Percy had been told the story but this was the first time he was meeting the creatures. Although they now looked healthy he could still see the scars on their backs where their wings were removed and on their flanks where they were whipped.
“Can he really build us functional wings,” one-eye neighed, “should we trust him?”
“Leo can build anything,” Percy replied to the pegasus, “and you can trust him, right Reyna?”
“You can,” she agreed, “even if he once open fired on my city, igniting a war.”
“I was possessed by an eidolon demon,” Leo groaned and Festus whirred his teeth in support of his friend.
If this worried the pegasi they didn’t let on. Leo opened the shipping container and started to unload equipment. Percy ate his food as he watched Leo and Calypso set up a make shift work-shop and get to work, measuring and fitting the pegasi with their new wings. Half an hour, and a full stomach later, they were taking their first test flights. With the sun reflecting off the bronze feathers they looked amazing and they seemed to work just as well as the pegasi took off and began to do loops in the sky. It wasn’t long before they were joined by the pegasi from camp-half blood, Tempest and Festus, all circling in the sky like a flock of very large, very equine birds. This apparently frustrated Arion who was swearing under his breath about the lack of tall buildings or topography to run up in Montauk. As if just to spite him for calling him a baby man Frank turned into an eagle and joined the fun.
To Percy’s surprise the rest of the party went off without a hitch. He expected so many demigods in one place to attract every monster in a 100 mile radius but none showed up, so he just enjoyed himself.
He watched Nico and Reyna cream Frank and Leo at spike ball. He and Piper taught Grover and Will how to skim board. He teamed up with Thalia for a corn-hole doubles tournament and came second only to his mom and step-dad (the only mortals there). He watched all the Cocoa Puffs listen intently as Ella read them a book and what appeared to be an equine vs. canine soccer/handball/water polo game, with a ball being thrown between pegasi, wind-spirits, hippocampi and godly horses on one side and wolves, hellhounds and automatonic greyhounds on the other. He swam with Rainbow and Tyson. He was excited when Coach Hedge stopped by with Mellie and baby Chuck. He laughed with Chuck and Estelle as they followed Coach Hedge’s example excitedly destroying the sandcastles Percy and Annabeth had helped them make. He joined everyone dancing as Grover, Piper, and Austin from the Apollo cabin as well as some of his siblings put on a show. He made crafts with rocks and driftwood with Rachel, Calypso and Hazel. When Chiron stopped by, he had a heart-felt conversation with him over a game of checkers and watched his mom hold back tears as they talked, clearly about Percy as they kept glancing his way. He skipped rocks with Nico and Frank and went all out in a water fight, becoming unstoppable by teaming up with blackjack. As the sun set he was chatting with Leo as they prepared a campfire, when he noticed a large silhouette approaching in a small boat. As the boat hit land a silver haired titan stepped out.
“Bob,” Annabeth yelled tackling him in a hug. Percy and Annabeth had only seen the Titan once since he was rescued from Tartarus by Nico and Will after having sacrificed himself so they could survive and escape Tartarus and being trapped in a permanent regeneration cycle by Nyx as a result.  Although Bob forgave them for leaving him behind to save the world they still struggled to forgive themselves. Nico and Will were the next to greet the Titan, followed by the Cocoa Puffs, then Percy himself. The other’s weren’t sure what to make of him having never met him before but once Tyson broke the ice introducing himself and inviting Bob to join their card game, he fit right in. After a few minutes small Bob popped his head out of Bob’s overalls and padded over to greet Percy, Annabeth, Will and Nico before deciding to entertain himself by swatting at Mrs. O’Leary’s tail that wagged in her sleep. One of the young wolf pups saw the ghost cat and tried to chase him but small Bob went skeletal then grew into a full-grown sabre-toothed tiger which put a stop to that pretty fast.
Once the sun set they roasted marshmallows, made smores and had a sing-along around the fire. They tried ghost stories but as they had all lived through multiple wars none of them scared easily so they ended up just listening to Ella recite the classics. Mrs. O’Leary, small bob and the Cocoa Puffs fell asleep in a pile and Percy had never seen a cuter pile of monsters.
As it got later guests began to leave in groups. His friends from camp, including Rachel and the pegasi left first; followed by Nico, Will and the cocoa puffs; then Reyna, Thalia and their pack; Leo, Calypso, and Piper (who was going to spend sometime at camp) on Festus, left next; then Hazel on Arion and Frank on Tempest; Rainbow swam back into the ocean, followed by Bob and small bob in their enchanted canoe; Tyson, Ella and Mrs. O’Leary were the last to leave with lots of hugs and promises to see each other soon. Percy’s parents and sister had already turned in for the night leaving just him, Annabeth and Grover. They stayed up playing games, talking, laughing and reminiscing about old times. Grover was the first to fall asleep just after 1 am. Percy and Annabeth left him on the patio couch and headed for a walk down the beach hand-in-hand, looking at the stars.
“Hard to believe it’s been four years since the end of the Titan war,” Percy finally said breaking their comfortable silence.
“Sure is, a lot has happened since then,” Annabeth sighed.
“Too much,” Percy laughed.
They fell into another comfortable silence just enjoying being together.
“Happy birthday seaweed brain,” Annabeth finally broke the silence, “and happy four year anniversary.”
She smiled before pulling him into a kiss. And that- that moment. That kiss. That day. - was exactly why Percy turned down immortality on that date, four years earlier: because things could always get better, and if things got better than that, that would really be something to see, and he couldn’t wait.

Over the Wide Plains
By allthismusic Art by Hectatess | @hectatess
Coming to Ao3 on April 3rd, 2024
Rated T | 12,500 words | No Archive Warnings Apply
Plenty of folks out here are running from something. Dean knows that as well as anyone. But most folks aren’t doing it literally. When he sees a stranger jog past his farm, he can’t help but be intrigued. What is Castiel trying to outrun? And what will it take for them both to realize that they can finally stop running?
[Keep reading for a sneak preview!]
The next time Castiel runs by Dean’s cabin, Dean is more prepared for his appearance, and he feels compelled to call out. “Castiel,” he yells across the field when he spots the runner silhouetted in the morning light, “Hey, Cas.” The silhouette slows down and turns. “C’mere,” Dean calls. After a moment’s pause, Castiel changes direction, jogging toward Dean until the silhouette of him turns into features — an average build, slightly shorter than Dean, messy dark brown hair, strikingly blue eyes.
Dean has already grilled the johnnycakes on the stove in the cabin, so it’s easy to hold the cast iron pan full of them out to Castiel. Dean gestures for him to take one, but Castiel doesn’t reach for the cornmeal pancake. “Go on, have some,” Dean says. He doesn’t know how many miles a day the guy is running, or why, but he figures it’s enough that he could use some extra sustenance.
“Thank you,” Castiel says, “but there’s no need. I wouldn’t want to take what you have from you—”
“Shut up and eat,” Dean interrupts, shoving the cast iron pan at him again. Castiel responds by taking the smallest of the johnnycakes.
“I’ll bring you some money next time,” Castiel promises after he has eaten the cornbread. “I know that goods can be in short supply outside of town.”
“Buddy,” Dean replies, “if there’s one thing that’s not in short supply out here, it’s corn.” He gestures to the fields around them, the land thick with stalks, and adds, “I won’t take your money.”
“You should,” Castiel tells him, “I’m a rich man, Dean.”
“Oh yeah?” Dean asks. He’s sure the town must have paid some small sum of money to convince a schoolteacher to make the journey 0ut to live on the frontier, but he doubts it would be enough to categorize one as rich.

Do you think joel was a good cook or couldn't boil water to save his life lol. I feel like I read a lot of fics where joel couldnt' even cook an egg as a single dad, but idk i feel like either he could be really good at cooking, or he was okay at it but he had a couple of dishes that he could cook really well, like chili or something lmao or some southern dish.
As a single father with a teenage daughter and not enough money to live high on the fog, I'd say he had to be able to cook. I don't think he was great, because he surely didn't have enough time to practice in the kitchen with having to work all the time to take care of the bills and other things, and because they would mostly end up ordering takeout or pizza with Sarah. But I believe he would enjoy cooking on weekends, with Sarah helping him out (or making fun of him).
He was probably more likely to make the easiest dishes out there. Like mixing rice or pasta with meat and vegetables and either serving it just like this (either hot or cold) or baking it with cheese on top or something like this. He was probably good at preparing meat too, like roasting chicken or pork and then eating it with plain or roasted potatoes, or just making spaghetti meatballs, the easiest dish out there. I can also see Joel making homemade pizza by throwing cheese on a dough with mushrooms, pepperoni, and ham. Nothing revolutionary or nutritious, but doable and edible.
Imagining Joel probably had a grill in his backyard, he would spend his summer days with Sarah just barbecueing. He would have a good steak once in a while, and Sarah would love grilled corn. They both probably liked grilled vegetable kabobs too. But they would have mostly just burgers anyway since they couldn't get enough of these. And of course, he can't forget about salads; he would also make all sorts of salads if he was lazy: chicken salad, summer salad, lentil salad, you name it.
I don't think he was a bad cook. I think he would do really well if he tried. I think he also had a few tricks up his sleeve. Like making the best baked chicken/beef tacos or lasagna, which I can imagine were Sarah's favorites. Or something like parmesan garlic roasted potatoes, which he would look up on the internet and make for Sarah because he knew how much she loved parmesan and potatoes.
And not to forget about Ellie, I am sure she had a chance to taste some of his specialties too. There wouldn't probably be that many options in the post-apocalyptic world, but I bet my shoes that Ellie would love his parmesan garlic roasted potatoes, making him happy to remember Sarah loved those too.
"Joel, these are so fucking delicious!" She says, around a mouthful of the savory potatoes, working another spoonful of them into her mouth. "Promise me..." She swallows. "Promise me you'll make these again."
"Sure, kiddo." He chuckles, pleased with himself, wishing he can make himself stop grinning. "Easy, though. Don't choke on them." This warms his heart.
"Fuck it, I would die for these potatoes!"

National Guacamole Day
Learn to make guacamole at home, and discover some of the many versatile uses for this tasty invention, from a simple dip to a sandwich spread and more.
Whether that bright green, creamy and chunky treat is piled on top of a tortilla chip or used as a garnish for a Mexican entree, guacamole is a delicious way to truly enhance a snack or a meal!
History of National Guacamole Day
While the day itself doesn’t exactly seem to have any particularly poetic origin, National Guacamole Day is a terrific excuse to indulge in the tastiest of dips!
However, guacamole itself seems to have its origins with the Aztec people group at some time before the 16th century. Early guacamole recipes only included mashed avocado and it became very popular due to the excellent health benefits of the avocado. Adding in the tomatoes and onions came later, which was a natural development since those are also native to the Americas. Eventually the lime juice was added, which originated in the Middle East but made its way west with the arrival of Christopher Columbus.
The word, guacamole, originally came from the word “āhuacamolli” which translates literally to mean “avocado sauce”.
Not only is it a great addition to a savoury spread, it’s also good for you! This is because “guac” is made from avocados, which are nutrient dense and packed with healthy fats that help the body lower bad cholesterol, all of which contributes to having a good ol’ time and living as long as possible.
How to Celebrate National Guacamole Day
Celebrating this day is easy and can be filled with fun as well as delicious flavors! Enjoy the day with some of these ideas:
Eat Guacamole
Even if there’s no particular reason, other than it being an awesome day, go ahead and celebrate National Guacamole Day by picking up some at the store! Don’t forget to grab something to put it on, such as a bag of tortilla chips, a selection of veggie sticks (carrots, celery or cucumbers), or a piece of tasty toast. Eat it with french fries, slather it on a quesadilla or use it as a filling or garnish for tacos. The options for eating guacamole are virtually endless!
Learn to Make Guacamole at Home
Freshly made guacamole is the most delicious part of this day! All it takes is buying some ripe avocados and making it from scratch at home. Blend the avocado, season with salt and it’s done!
Of course it might be even tastier to add a bit of flavor to it, such as lemon or lime juice for some zesty citrus notes. Or perhaps some tomato, garlic and onion to expand the palette, the choice is completely personal.
Find Creative Ways to Eat Guacamole
Many people associate guacamole only with corn tortilla chips. But there’s so much more to it than that! For those who are trying to get a bit healthier and forego the chips, or for those who are just looking for a bit of adventure, guacamole has a lot of creative ways it can be used for snacks and meals. In addition to using it as a dip, try out these ideas for guacamole:
Spread It On a Sandwich. Guacamole makes a great sandwich condiment. Simply pile it on top of a hamburger or chicken burger for a tasty treat. Guac is also tasty when used as a healthy addition to a grilled cheese sandwich.
Top a Pizza With It. That’s right! A boring pizza can be made delicious with guacamole. Some people like to combine it with Buffalo sauce and chicken as well.
Stuff Mushrooms with It. Keep it vegetarian by filling hollowed out mushrooms with guacamole and topping with a spicy Buffalo sauce. Yum!
Make It Into a Salad. Guacamole can make a healthy and delicious base for a salad. Create a Greek fusion by adding feta cheese, or turn it a bit sweet by piling it up with chunks of watermelon or peaches.
Have a National Guacamole Day Party
Invite friends and family over for a little get together with the intention of celebrating National Guacamole Day. Give a nod to guacamole’s origins by decorating and dressing up in costumes that channel Central American culture.
Of course, the table of refreshments will need to center around the guest of honor–guacamole! But it can be filled with all sorts of other south of the border treats as well. Try offering some tostadas, chips & salsa, taquitos or quesadillas. Toss in some churros or flan for a delicious dessert.
Learn Fun Facts About Avocados
Since they are the main ingredient for guacamole, a fun activity for the day would be to learn a bit of trivia to share with friends or coworkers as National Guacamole Day is celebrated. Try these fun facts to share:
Avocados are a fruit. That’s right, technically guacamole is actually a smashed fruit salad!
Hass Avocados were banned in the US. In an effort to control pest problems, the beloved Hass Avocado was once banned in the United States. From 1914 to 1997, it was illegal to import these delicious fruits. Everyone is much happier now that they are legal again.
The World Record for Guacamole was over 3 tons. Created by a wholesaler in Jalisco, Mexico, this batch of guac took more than 800 people to make it. It contained more than 25,000 avocados, 3,500 tomatoes and 3,000 lemons.
Remember–it’s not necessary to only indulge in this tasty treat on National Guacamole Day. After all, it’s good for you all year round, this is just an extra special reason to enjoy it!

Exquisite esquites
By Mia Leimkuhler
If I were mayor of Picnictown, every picnic would have the following: a blanket, a 1:1 dog-to-human ratio and esquites. The blanket’s there because grass is itchy no matter what the most outdoorsy person in the group says; the dogs because dogs are great. The esquites are essential because my favorite outdoor corn is elotes, but they don’t travel nearly as well as esquites. (The laws of Picnictown consider how easy it is to carry your picnic things on public transportation.)
This is barely a compromise, though, because Kay Chun’s esquites capture all the beloved and balanced elements of elotes: sweet summer corn, tangy lime, creamy cotija (and crema), spicy ancho chile. The smoky flavor you get from grilled corn is here, too, as the kernels are charred in a hot skillet until browned and caramelized. Perhaps the most enticing part of the recipe is this note from Kay: “Leftovers transform quickly into a great pasta salad the next day; simply toss with cooked pasta and olive oil.” Picnictown loves a resourceful pasta salad.
More picnic decrees, because it’s the first day of summer! Make Zainab Shah’s sheet-pan chicken tikka thighs ahead of time, and then toss some roti or naan in your tote bag for effortless but extremely delicious sandwiches. Ali Slagle’s green bean salad with dill pickles and feta is perfect all by itself, but if someone else wanted to bring a container of cooked barley or farro, that would be a really nice collaborative grain bowl picnic moment. (For even more lovely, easy picnic ideas that travel well, check out this recipe collection.)
Every June, the summer produce flows into and overwhelms my corner grocery store, and every June I am positively giddy about it. Right now the shelves are buckling from so many cherry tomatoes, and I’m doing my part with salad e-shirazi, basil and tomato fried rice and salmon and tomatoes in foil, a five-star, five-ingredient dinner from Mark Bittman.
I am trying to be more adventurous with my vegetables, branching out and bringing home goodies I don’t usually cook. I’ve never really loved bitter melon (I’m not alone), but I do like bitter things — extra dark chocolate, dandelion greens, Campari. So I’m going to try this stir-fried bitter melon with eggs, a recipe from Chutatip Suntaranon (known as Nok) adapted by Cathy Erway.
The creamy scrambled eggs, salty soy sauce and molasses-y brown sugar will mellow out the harshest edges of the bitter melon. And I trust Nok — I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Kalaya, Nok’s restaurant in Philadelphia, and Nok never misses.
Lastly: It’s hot out there, and I’d like to give you an excuse to stand in front of the open refrigerator after a long afternoon in Picnictown. Here’s Lisa Donovan’s new recipe for buttermilk tres leches cake, which is best served extremely chilled, straight from the pan. I interpret this as spooning giant mouthfuls of cold, creamy cake into my mouth while bending into the fridge, but if you’d like to use plates and forks and a table, by all means.

Bucky looks down at the address he had written on his metal palm in sharpie, then back up at the house he's standing infront of. "Really hope Sam didn't give me the wrong address..." He mumbles as he goes up to the door, knocking with his normal hand. He'd been struggling to make friends due to the whole Winter Soldier thing and heard Scott was easy to befriend. He could hear the familiar Russian voice in the back of his head nagging at him that friends are a waste of time and he should focus on work, but for the time being he didn't have any and his court mandated therapist said to try and socialize the soldier too
Scott's got his hands full cooking dinner. He's got garlic chicken on his countertop grill, roasted asparagus and roasted potatoes in the oven, corn on the stove, and he's waiting to throw his rolls in the oven too.
And there's a knock at the door. "Huh." He wasn't expecting anybody. "Wonder who that could be..."
He wipes his hands on a dishcloth before he hurries to the door, eager to get back to the kitchen to make sure everything stays good to go. But when he opens the door, he's in for a surprise. "Oh!" Scott blinks a few times in surprise. "Uhh Bucky, right? It's been a while, man. How've you been?"

austins easy as fuck soup recipe. adapted from a cookbook my grandma gave me
ingredience
cooked and diced chicken (I usually get bags of pre-grilled chicken breast. season however you want or get them preseasoned)
finely chopped bell pepper, onions, and corn (my local grocery store sells a frozen bag of all three mixed together and calls it "chuckwagon corn". idk if other stores have that)
cut and boiled potatoes (again my store sells tins of precooked potatoes seasoned with rosemary and garlic that you're supposed to to put in the oven so I just use that. make sure to add in your own seasonings if your potatoes arent preseasoned)
chicken broth
either milk and flour or condensed cream of chicken (or cream of whatever)
shredded cheese
bacon
make it
fill a large pot with the broth and potatoes and bring to a boil
in a pan cook and crumble the bacon
in the same pan sautee the veggies and chicken in the leftover grease or olive oil
add the veggies and chicken to the pot. and the bacon or you can leave that to crumble on top
in a bowl whisk together 1/2c flour with 2c milk until smooth (1:4 ratio) and add to the pot. if you dont feel like doing that empty a can of condensed cream soup into the pot instead. boil for like 5 minutes idk
stir in the cheese until fully melted
burn your tongue eating it. this step is not optional
as you may have noticed basically all of these ingredients are sold already prepared and frozen. this is because I am lazy as fuck. also its soup so you can add or remove whatever you want in any proportion you want. enjoy
