Weep Holes: An Essential Component For Structural Integrity
Tumblr media
The world of construction methodologies is vast, dynamic, and continuously evolving. Among the myriad of procedures and mechanisms crucial to the development of robust structures, a particularly crucial yet often overlooked feature is the ‘weep hole.’ In this blog, we delve deeper into what weep holes are, focus mainly on their application in cinder block structures, reasons for their installation near the footing, and the benefits that they provide related to relieving water trapped within a structure.
To begin with, let’s establish what Weep Holes are. Weep holes, as the name suggests give an image of something that exudes, seeps out, or, indeed, weeps. In construction parlance, they are purposely drilled in a structure to allow the movement of water or to let it escape from within.
Though these holes can be integrated into several types of structural system, their use is widely popular in cinder block constructions. Cinder blocks, also known as concrete masonry units, are commonly used in residential as well as commercial construction due to their affordability, strength, and insulation properties. Their design usually involves hollow cores, or cavities, that can unintentionally trap water within. Whether it’s from groundwater, landscape irrigation, or rainfall, the cinder block can host this water, giving birth to many potential issues such as mold, mildew, efflorescence, or even structural failure if water freezes and expands.
Therefore, to alleviate these concerns, weep holes are drilled into the cinder blocks, typically in the bottom row and near the footing. Placed lower down because water tends to flow to the lowest point due to gravity, these openings play a vital role in the overall health and longevity of the structure.
When water is present in the hollow cavities of the cinder block, the weep holes facilitate an escape route. But it isn’t just about aiding drainage; these holes also play an essential part in the structure’s ventilation, helping trapped moisture to dry up more quickly.
One might wonder–why near the footing? The footing of a building is the lowest part of the structure, usually installed below ground level. For blocks near the footing, water accumulation is most likely due to their proximity to the ground. To prevent rising dampness creeping up into the structure and ensure optimal effectiveness, weep holes are strategically drilled near the footing.
One concern that often arises about weep holes is the threat of small creatures or pests entering through them. To prevent this, weep holes are generally covered with plastic, steel, or another type of mesh to allow water escape but deter critters.
Let’s sum up the importance of weep holes: They are not a construction afterthought but an essential design feature engineered to prolong and conserve the structural integrity of cinder block structures, whether they be a garden wall, chicken coop, house, or commercial building. By simultaneously promoting ventilation and facilitating the drainage of trapped water within the cinder blocks’ hollow cavities, weep holes help to prevent the onset of undesirable moisture issues, water damage, and structural instability.
So the next time you come across some random, small holes in a structure, remember, they aren’t gaps in design or construction; they’re mitigating water damage one drop at a time. This is the importance of an often overlooked, yet vital construction element – the weep hole.

Writing Notes: Emotions
Tumblr media
“Emotion” is a term that came into use in the English language in the 17th and 18th centuries as a translation of the French term “émotion” but did not designate “a category of mental states that might be systematically studied” until the mid-19th century (Dixon 2012: 338; see also Dixon 2003; Solomon 2008).
Many of the things we call emotions today have been the object of theoretical analysis since Ancient Greece, under a variety of language-specific labels such as passion, sentiment, affection, affect, disturbance, movement, perturbation, upheaval, or appetite.
This makes for a long and complicated history, which has progressively led to the development of a variety of shared insights about the nature and function of emotions, but no consensual definition of what emotions are, either in philosophy or in affective science.
3 Traditions in the Study of Emotions
Emotions as: Feelings, Evaluations, and Motivations
Although emotion theories differ on multiple dimensions, they can be usefully sorted into three broad traditions:
The Feeling Tradition - takes the way emotions feel to be their most essential characteristic, and defines emotions as distinctive conscious experiences.
The Evaluative Tradition - regards the way emotions construe the world as primary, and defines emotions as being (or involving) distinctive evaluations of the eliciting circumstances.
The Motivational Tradition - defines emotions as distinctive motivational states.
(Scarantino, 2016)
Each tradition faces the task of articulating a prescriptive definition of emotions that is theoretically fruitful and compatible at least to some degree with ordinary linguistic usage.
And although there are discipline-specific theoretical objectives, there also is a core set of explanatory challenges that tends to be shared across disciplines:
Differentiation: How are emotions different from one another, and from things that are not emotions?
Motivation: Do emotions motivate behavior, and if so, how?
Intentionality: Do emotions have object-directedness, and if so, can they be appropriate or inappropriate to their objects?
Phenomenology: Do emotions always involve subjective experiences, and if so of what kind?
Emotions as Constructions
Constructionists are convinced that emotions are put together on the fly and in flexible ways using building blocks that are not specific to emotions, roughly in the way cooked foods are constructed from ingredients that are not specific to them and could be used according to alternative recipes.
One of the ingredients out of which emotions are built is said to be core affect, which is a:
neurophysiological state that is consciously accessible as a simple, nonreflective feeling that is an integral blend of hedonic (pleasure–displeasure) and arousal (sleepy–activated) values. (Russell 2003: 147)
Tumblr media
Psychological constructionists emphasize that we are always in some state of core affect, which is a sort of barometer that informs us of our “relationship” to the flow of events.
The readings of the barometer are feelings, understood as blends of pleasure-displeasure and activation-deactivation.
These readings can be represented as points along a “circumplex structure”, with the vertical axis representing the degree of activation-deactivation and the horizontal axis representing the degree of pleasure-displeasure (Russell 1980).
Despite the great diversity of views on the nature and function of emotions, a broad consensus has emerged on a number of topics. Here is a tentative list of what a plurality of emotion theorists agree about, with brief mention of where the disagreements begin:
ONE. Emotion episodes involve, at least in prototypical cases, a set of evaluative, physiological, phenomenological, expressive, behavioral, and mental components that are diagnostic of emotions and are to some degree correlated with one another.
The degree to which these correlations are instantiated continues to be a central topic of theoretical debate: latent variable models assume that emotions cause the changes in components and expect to find strong correlations, whereas emergent variable models assume that emotions emerge from changes in components caused by something other than emotions and expect to find weak correlations.
TWO. Token episodes of the same folk emotion type (e.g., anger, fear, shame) manifest a great deal of variability with respect to expressive, behavioral, physiological and phenomenological features, as well as intensity, duration, valence, arousal, type and range of intentional objects.
Researchers disagree on whether underlying all this variability there exist measurable bodily patterns of some kind that are still distinctive of different emotions.
THREE. Emotions have intentionality or the ability to represent.
Researchers disagree on whether emotions represent descriptively or imperatively or both, on what exact contents they represent, and on what grounds the emotion-world representation relation. A small minority of researchers, hailing mostly from the enactivist movement, have argued that emotions lack representational qualities.
FOUR. The physical seat of emotions is the brain, but there are no neural circuits that correspond one-to-one with any folk emotion type, and brains are embodied and embedded in environments that are essential to their proper functioning.
Researchers disagree on how exactly the brain implements tokens of different emotion types, and whether emotional phenomena are best understood in terms of emotion-specific or emotion-unspecific neural mechanisms.
FIVE. Emotions typically involve conscious experiences, but such experiences are not strictly necessary for an emotion to be instantiated, in part because some emotion terms refer to dispositions and in part because most theorists consider feelings conceptually distinct from non-dispositional emotions.
A handful of influential researchers such as LeDoux (2017) and Barrett (2017) continue to identify emotions with conscious experiences.
SIX. Evolutionary and socio-cultural considerations must both contribute to our understanding of a great many emotions’ functions. These are both intra-personal functions —e.g., helping organisms coordinate organismic resources to deal with urgent demands—and interpersonal functions —e.g., communicating information useful for the negotiation of social transactions.
Researchers continue to debate whether there is sufficient empirical evidence for basic emotions and other special-purpose emotion mechanisms. Some see the role of evolution as limited to the shaping of general-purpose adaptations, such as core affect and the ability to categorize, which jointly lead to the emergence of emotions.
SEVEN. Emotions are no longer considered structurally opposed to reason.
Researchers continue to debate the circumstances in which emotions manifest various kinds of cognitive and strategic irrationality.
EIGHT. Emotions can be appropriate or inappropriate with respect to their intentional objects.
Researchers debate the grounds of, and distinctions between, different forms of appropriateness (e.g., fittingness, moral appropriateness).
NINE. Emotions typically involve appraisals of the significance of the stimulus situation, ranging between primitive and sophisticated forms of information processing.
Researchers debate what the structure of appraisals is, and whether appraisals cause or constitute emotions or both.
TEN. Emotions typically correlate with changes in motivation to do things.
Some researchers think emotions cause or consist in such changes in motivation, whereas others think that changes in motivation have other causes, or are too unspecific to ground a theory of what emotions are.
The exploration of these insights and the resolution of the disagreements around them is a thriving interdisciplinary project in contemporary emotion theory.
Philosophers and affective scientists will continue to engage in it for years to come, putting their distinctive theoretical skills at the service of projects of common interest.

Kinktober Day 2
Frame Modification- Rodimus x Reader
Word count: 1.3k
Warnings: Nsfw, smut, genital modification, strap ons?, human/ Cybertronian.
@tf-kinktober2024
Day 1
Day 3
Tumblr media
______________
The human stares at Rodimus for a moment with a raised eyebrow looking at the boxes of equipment. "So what exactly is all of this?" They ask looking over the different components in them. Rodimus scratches his helm sheepishly. "Well, uh, you know my size can be, heh, problematic when it comes to interfacing with you. Don't want to accidentally hurt you due to the size"
He offers a lopsided grin. "So Perceptor and I have been tinkering. These doodads should decrease my, um, girth and increase sensitivity without compromising structure or function, if his calculations hold up."
Rodimus clutches a box hopefully. "I care for you and I know how much you like what we have going on but i want you to be able to have more" His field radiates shy affection.
"Your... downgrading, for me?" They nearly whisper while looking over the three boxes. There were more than one spike mod in the boxes and it made them wonder just how long Rodimus had been planning this.
Rodimus rubs the back of his helm sheepishly. "Well, yeah. This is important to me too, you know?" He gestures to the boxes. "Perceptor and I have been working on different prototypes for a while now. Wanna make sure we get it just right, so they are interchangeable."
Chuckling softly, Rodimus adds, "We may have gone a little overboard with the sampling options." Taking his lover's hands in his gently, Rodimus meets their gaze. "I love you. Your happiness and safety with me means everything to me. If modifying myself helps ensure that, it's a small price."
Squeezing softly, he smiles. "So what d'you say we try 'em out, see which fits and what you like?" He's hoping he hadn't scared them with this information, but he did truly love them and wanted to give them the best he could.
It makes them laugh. "I'd love to. Do all of the pieces interchange?" They inquire while pulling one of the spike mods out looking it over. This one had bright pink lights up the underside but was a bit too large in their hands larger than their arm. Rodimus perks up at the sound of their laughter, fia warm smile falling onto his face. "Sure do!" he replies. "Perce made 'em with modularity in mind."
Leaning in, he points out how the piece in their servos connects. "That one plugs into my panel port. Then the shaft and tip snap together for a secure fit, each piece will fit to the others to integrate." Rodimus smiles before continuing "Pink light show's a bit flashy for me though. what'd you think of the sleek navy or copper ones?" Ever keen to please, he holds them up for his loger to look at.
In truth they never thought they would be sitting there with Rodimus looking at essentially Strap-ons. " I do like the top part of the silver one there, the rest of it is just a little too thick. Might work nicely with the shaft of the Orange one which I do like the lights on and it doesn't look as long as my forearm" they laugh while pointing over to the spike as Rodimus picks it up. The tip wasn't as wide as some of the others. "How do you pull them apart and put them together? Can you show me?"
Rodimus chuckles, field pulsing with affection as he examines the proposed frankenspike. "Good eye! I think you're right - silver tip and orange shaft could be a winner." He deftly twists the pieces apart to demonstrate. "The connector ports are threaded, see? Just twist counter-clockwise to separate, then clockwise to join another piece securely."
Reassembling the hybrid mod, Rodimus presents it proudly. "Well? What do you think - looks like it'll hit all the right nodes but still leave your ports feeling snug?" They laugh at his wording of it but in truth they were enjoying every moment of this.
"Never thought I'd be saying that this looks so pretty. Do they connect up with your bio-lights and pulse the same colour? And how exactly do you attach it to yourself?" As much as they were loving the fact that they and Rodimus would be able to be intimate they are so curious over how it all works.
Rodimus grins, field alight. "Never think I'd be so pleased by a compliment on my crotch accessory collection!" It makes them both burst into laughter wheezing. " but Yea, the light circuits sync right up with my biolights so it'll pulse and change colours"
Rodimus releases his interface panel which at the moment didn't have an attachment, he's rather swift with reattaching the chosen mod in its place. pressurises his lines, watching struts and panels adjust flawlessly around the new appendage. "Seamless integration. The connection anchors it securely while also transferring sensory feedback in real time." Rodimus smiles shyly. "Wanna touch it?." He teases revving his engine.
"Ready for a test drive when you are, sweetspark. I'll go slow and you tell me what you think. Your feelings are my top priority here.” He excitedly remarks. "Can we keep the other pieces too, I think this would be something fun to try and test other pieces over time." Rodimus lights up at their question, excitement filling him. "A collection? I like the way you think!"
"Now then, shall we?" He radiates eager anticipation, "I'm primed and ready to make you sing, sweetspark. Just give me the word." He slowly strokes the smaller mod as the sensation jolts through him.
"Eager are we" they tease, It was strange seeing the new one when they were so used to Rodimus' original Spike but in truth it suited him well. "Sure thing hot shot. I want a show" they giggle sitting back eager to watch.
Carefully he braces himself before encircling the new modification digit rubbing across the tip. Slow, steady pumps elicit delightful shivers up his struts as sensory feedback loops. The lights along the spike light up in the deep orange colour and pulse with each stroke.
A loud moan falls from his vocalizer. His engine purrs louder, Optics half-shuttering, Rodimus meets their gaze with a loving smirk. "Like what you see? gorgeous - just say the word and I'm yours all night."
They shake their heads in amusement. "I want to watch you work that spike Roddy, I like watching you come undone with your servo, dial up the sensitivity" they instruct. Eager to just watch the mech touch himself.
Rodimus chuckles. "As you wish." He begins stroking it much quicker, the sound of his joints popping and grinding join the mix of noises he makes.  "How's it feel?" Rodimus vented softly, digits exploring the synthetic spike's sensory net with increasing awe, he had never had one which felt like this and it was making his joints weak from how quickly it had over charged his system, hot air blasting through his fans.
"Incredible... it feels so sensitive." Another moan slips from him sounding more like a whimpered whine of bliss. He gazed at his partner in a haze of affection. "Primus i cant wait to see how you feel clenched around my spike, bet you'll be so warm and soft. Might just be overloaded thinking about it."
"You going to overload, thought you had better stamina roddy" They tease watching the way his plating shutters as he quickened his pace. Rodimus whimpers out while his voice goes rather static. "Hey, cut me some slack - this new array packs way more sensation than the old one. Gonna take some getting used to!"
He overloads into his servo rather quickly. Their eyes focus on the fluid that runs down his servo, it wasn't the light pink one they were used to seeing come from him. “ Did you also change your fluids?” they hum moving closer to brush their hand against his spike. It makes Rodimus jolt as he loudly moans. “Frag!” he calls out platting, shuttering and overheating as he tries to come down from the overwhelming sensation.
“mmmm, yea.. wanted something a little more body safe for you” he admits,it earns him a kiss from them.

hi there! Since you're currently Homestuck I'm writing in to ask you a favor: could you explain the truth/relevance/essentiality model of native integrity, for someone who has some experience with metafiction but hasn't read the Epilogues? I never got to that part of Homestuck and my attempts to Google explanations has left things very unclear in my head - in particular where each category ends and the other two begin.
okay so! caveat that a lot of this is going off memory and also 4 years of my own interpretation of the terms that may or may not correlate to actual reality, but truth/relevance/essentiality can be explained as follows:
as per the epilogues these things constitute the three pillars of canon - for a piece of fiction to attain canonicity it must be true relevant and essential to that which came before. in some ways this is as simple as if something like a sequel/spinoff passes the "he would not fucking say that" test and sometimes it's less simple.
for ease of understanding, each pillar can be understood as thus:
for something to be true, it must by definition not contradict either the literal or metaphorical truth of the canonical text. what comes after must be congruent with what came before. the easiest way to measure a story's truth value is to see if what is being said is verified as existing in some form within canon - if a character expresses interest in thing A, but this piece of fiction depicts them as both liking B and disliking A without even acknowledging their canonical enjoyment of A, then it loses its truth value.
for something to be relevant, it must have some matter of value or importance within the text itself. an example of something that is true but not relevant would be a side story that doesn't contradict the main canon but also doesn't add or change the core story in any way. inoffensive fluff of no consequence in other words.
for something to be essential, it must be in alignment with the themes and driving theses of the text. to make something essential, it must speak to the "why" of the source text in such a way that it either changes/becomes part of the central message. another understanding of essentiality is through audience impact - is this feature valued enough to stick in a reader's consciousness as a key component when recounting the story's details? in a lot of ways essentiality/relevance do share overlap, but my understanding is relevance = within the text and essentiality = outside of the text.
when thinking about these pillars, the important part is that these terms are also a loose metaphor for adherence to power structures/conformity to hierarchical norms. in homestuck, "canon" is a form of violence inflicted on its characters (the alpha timeline as a concept is the most accessible form of this) and so to adhere to canon is to perform existence in a way that the system views with approval. the pillars of canon are extrinsic validation that represent a total narrativising of reality, and thus the conflicts and hardships of canon continue to perpetuate (in homestuck epilogues terms, this comes in the form of sacrificing "happily ever after" for an intriguing and exciting sequel despite the suffering it will inflict on the characters).
what's interesting about this model is that truth/relevance/essentiality can also be self-generated and self-sustaining. a totally canon-divergent fanfiction will completely undermine the rules of its source to the point where if it were to be moored to canon it would damage the integrity of both texts, but it nonetheless continues to have its own internal consistency/structures. a queer AU means nothing to the source text, but it has meaning to itself and to the audience it exists for (audience response isn't very hashed out in the epilogues model, but i think it's important to consider for a more comprehensive picture - @hms-no-fun's godfeels touches a lot on this angle) and thus an alternative mode of being is formed in response.
the problem with a text that fails to adhere to these pillars is that, while it is afforded a greater structural freedom, it also fails to matter. a fanfiction that is canon-compliant has a greater value in the discourse surrounding its source text than a coffee shop au that only has character names and appearances as a shared commonality - even if this coffee shop au is a groundbreaking and moving piece of narrative, because it lacks any meaningful ties to canon it cannot be used to shape canon.
to give a clear example, a lot of this for me is most easily explored in the concept of june egbert who existed most prominently as a nebulous promise destined for the future of homestuck, but absent in its present. the question driving a lot of the fans with a vested interest in june during the 2019/2020 era was "june egbert is real, but how can june egbert be real? and what does june egbert being real mean?"
you can see this a lot with the two schools of fanworks depicting june egbert. on one hand you have what is loosely dubbed "hairclips june" - a version of june egbert who exists as the platonic ideal of transfeminine fantasy, who inhabits contemporary college aus and perfect femininity and coming out stories filled to the brim with queer coming of age tropes and feelgood trans girl archetypes. she is true and essential and relevant to the transgender experience (and indeed hairclips june *has* helped in cracking people's eggs and thus her validity and importance cannot be denied) but not the homestuck experience. in homestuck, june egbert will never come into being as an early 20's john egbert who realizes her depression is actually unaddressed dysphoria and who spends a great deal of time taking estrogen and wearing skirts and kissing her friends, but that doesn't mean there isn't a great deal of value in these texts existing regardless of their proximity to canon.
on the flipside you have "extant june" (a term i am inventing right now to categorize this character type in absence of official terminology), a version of june egbert focused much more on meaningfully addressing "how can june egbert come to be in a convincing way?", or "what canon and canon-adjacent avenues could june egbert take to come into being?". these june works are more dominated by the messy and heavy and dramatic rules that govern homestuck, and figuring out how to fit june egbert into that pattern. one such instance of this is godfeels, whose june comes about from a mind-meld with a sort of brain ghost vriska after a severe depressive episode and creates the composite "june eg8ert", a manifestation of vriska's influence on john during act 5 brought to its logical extreme. another instance is my own story, omelette route, which has june egbert come into being following her resurrection at the end of the epilogues and the canonical truth that "john egbert is dead"; freed from the narrative obligation of being john egbert, she is able to start examining the true shape of her feelings - this of course is an extension of the questions of selfhood posed over and over again by postcanon homestuck. you can even turn to homestuck^2 itself for what will almost certainly be "canon" june's entrance, through a 40 year old john egbert who, after sleepwalking his way into a miserable life and cruel world, has decided to once again give autonomy a chance.
extant june's stories are, for a better term, characterised in bleak and heavy and thematically dense brushstrokes, because homestuck itself is all of these things and more. to make a plausible june egbert that adheres to the rules of homestuck is to make june egbert compatible with the suffering of homestuck. june will never get a neat and happy coming out, but she might experience post-resurrection ego dissolution, or she might experience a personality-shifting psychic fusion, as these are all extreme character-defining moments common to homestuck's narrative language. yet there remains a controversy in these junes compared to hairclips june - these stories are often too complicated, too messy, too traumatic for an easy and palatable consumption. and yet they feel infinitely more tangible than a story about 21 year old college senior john egbert who is forcefemmed by his transfem roommate rose lalonde and has several feelings awoken as a result.
one version of june strives for truth and relevance and essentiality, and one does not. both junes contain an immense value for their respective audiences. in this way, you don't need the pillars of canon to have a conversation with a story's audience, but you do need them to have a conversation with the story itself. a story can only speak to its own pillars. if you discard those pillars either willingly or unwillingly, then you are distancing yourself from the possibility of dialogue. this is not to say that extant june is more "real" than hairclips june (they are both fanworks after all, and thus unable to ever attain absolute "truth" on their own due to not being canonically-authored texts), but that extant junes are more readily in direct dialogue and conversation with homestuck and thus have a greater potential for influence in this specific way. hairclips june through her essentiality can change your relationship to yourself, while extant june through her essentiality and relevance can change your relationship to homestuck.
i hope this helps in illuminating these concepts in a way that makes more tangible sense!

The cell nucleus is a membrane-bound organelle found in eukaryotic cells. The cell nucleus contains nearly all of the cell's genome. Nuclear DNA is often organized into multiple chromosomes – long strands of DNA dotted with various proteins, such as histones, that protect and organize the DNA. The genes within these chromosomes are structured in such a way to promote cell function. The nucleus maintains the integrity of genes and controls the activities of the cell by regulating gene expression.
Nucleotides are organic molecules composed of a nitrogenous base, a pentose sugar and a phosphate. They serve as monomeric units of the nucleic acid polymers – deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA), both of which are essential biomolecules within all life-forms on Earth. Nucleotides are obtained in the diet and are also synthesized from common nutrients by the liver.

The G-Spot and Female Ejaculation: An Updated Perspective
Introduction
The Grafenberg spot, commonly known as the G-spot, and female ejaculation are two phenomena that have intrigued scientists, medical professionals, and the public alike. The G-spot is often discussed in the context of sexual pleasure and orgasm, while female ejaculation is a related but distinct phenomenon involving the release of fluid from the urethra during sexual activity. This essay provides an updated perspective on these topics, integrating recent research findings and ongoing debates in the scientific community.
The G-Spot: Myth or Reality?
However, the existence of and significance of the G-spot remain controversial. Recent anatomical and physiological studies have produced mixed results. Some researchers have identified areas of heightened sensitivity within the vaginal wall that could correspond to the G-spot, while others argue that there is no distinct structure that universally exists in all women.
A 2020 study using ultrasound imaging attempted to locate the G-spot but found no consistent anatomical feature that could be definitively identified as such. Instead, they suggested that what is commonly referred to as the G-spot might be an extension of the clitoral complex, which includes internal structures of the clitoris that extend deep into the pelvis . This perspective aligns with findings that clitoral stimulation is a critical component of vaginal orgasms.
Female Ejaculation: Clarifying the Phenomenon
Female ejaculation refers to the expulsion of fluid from the urethra during orgasm. This phenomenon has been documented across cultures and historical periods, yet its nature and origins are still debated. There are two main types of fluid involved in female ejaculation: a small amount of milky white fluid secreted by the Skene's glands (sometimes called the female prostate) and a larger volume of clear fluid that resembles urine.
Recent research, including a 2014 study that analyzed the biochemical composition of ejaculated fluid, indicates that the clear fluid is essentially diluted urine, released from the bladder during sexual arousal and orgasm . This finding challenges earlier theories that distinguished female ejaculation fluid from urine.
Conversely, the milky fluid secreted by the Skene's glands contains prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP), markers typically found in male prostatic fluid, suggesting a closer parallel to male ejaculation . This dual nature of female ejaculation underscores the complexity of the phenomenon.
Interconnectedness of the G-Spot and Female Ejaculation
The G-spot and female ejaculation are often discussed together due to their interconnected nature in sexual physiology. Stimulation of the G-spot, which might include structures like the Skene's glands, can trigger both intense pleasure and the release of ejaculate fluid. This connection supports the idea that the G-spot, whether a distinct anatomical structure or part of the clitoral complex, plays a significant role in sexual response.
Moreover, the psychological and physiological responses to G-spot stimulation and female ejaculation are deeply intertwined. Some women report heightened sexual satisfaction and emotional release associated with these experiences, indicating a strong psychosomatic component .
The G-spot and female ejaculation remain areas of vibrant research and debate. While the precise anatomical basis of the G-spot is still uncertain, its role in sexual pleasure is acknowledged. Similarly, female ejaculation involves a complex interplay of physiological processes, including the secretion of fluids from both the bladder and Skene's glands. As scientific inquiry continues, a more nuanced understanding of these phenomena will likely emerge, contributing to our broader knowledge of female sexual health and pleasure.
Understanding and acknowledging the diversity of sexual experiences and responses is crucial. While the existence of the G-spot and the nature of female ejaculation may be complex and variable, they underscore the importance of comprehensive sexual education and I'm not, informed discussions about female sexuality.

How Do You Maintain the Color of Residential Metal Roofing?
Maintaining the vibrant color of your residential metal roofing can feel daunting, but it doesn’t have to be! You want your home to look its best, and the roof plays a key role in that curb appeal. Whether your roof is newly installed or a few years old, keeping it fresh and beautiful is achievable with simple care tips. In this guide, you’ll discover how to preserve the color of your metal roof and extend its life by following easy maintenance techniques.
Understanding Residential Metal Roofing
Before diving into maintenance, let’s briefly discuss what residential metal roofing is. These roofs are made from various metals, such as steel, aluminum, and copper, which offer durability and longevity. They are available in multiple colors and finishes, allowing homeowners to choose a style that complements their property. Because they are exposed to the elements, proper care is essential to maintain their appearance and functionality.
Regular Cleaning: The First Step to Color Maintenance
Regular cleaning is one of the best ways to maintain the color of your residential metal roofing. Over time, dirt, debris, and organic materials can accumulate on the surface, leading to discoloration and degradation.
Cleaning Frequency
Aim to clean your roof at least twice a year. In addition to routine cleanings, consider inspecting it after significant storms or if you notice any discoloration.
Cleaning Techniques
Gentle Approach: To remove dirt and debris, use a soft-bristle brush or a low-pressure power washer. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, which can scratch and damage the paint finish.
Focus on Problem Areas: Pay special attention to areas prone to moss, algae, or tree sap. These spots can hold moisture and lead to more significant issues if not addressed promptly.
Inspecting for Damage: A Key Component of Maintenance
Regular inspections can help you catch potential issues before they escalate. Here are some tips for inspecting your residential metal roofing:
What to Look For
Rust Spots: Check for any signs of rust, particularly around seams and fasteners. Early detection can prevent larger problems later.
Paint Peeling or Fading: Look for areas where the paint is peeling or losing its luster. These areas may need touch-ups or a complete repaint.
Structural Integrity: Check for loose panels or signs of wear that could compromise the integrity of your roof.
Addressing Issues: Repair or Repaint?
Consider repairing or repainting your residential metal roofing if you notice any damage or discoloration during your inspections.
Minor Repairs
Small rust spots or peeling paint can often be addressed without a full repaint. Use touch-up paint designed for metal roofs and follow the manufacturer’s application instructions.
Full Repainting
A full repaint may be the best option if your roof is significantly faded or damaged. Here are some steps to consider before repainting:
Wait for the Right Time: If you’ve recently installed your roof, allow it to weather for about six months to ensure better paint adhesion.
Choose the Right Paint: Select specially formulated reflective paints for metal roofs to enhance energy efficiency and prolong color retention.
Choosing the Right Color for Your Residential Metal Roofing
If you’re thinking about a new color for your roof, it’s essential to choose wisely. Here are some tips:
Know Your Options
Metal roofs come in a wide array of colors. While traditional colors like gray and black remain popular, don’t shy away from vibrant hues like colonial red or deep blue.
Consider Your Home’s Style
Think about your home's architectural style. A bright color may work well in a modern design but could clash with a more traditional aesthetic.
Check HOA Guidelines
If you live, check for guidelines in a neighborhood with a homeowner's association; checking can prevent potential headaches later.
The Impact of Weather on Your Metal Roof
Weather plays a significant role in the longevity and appearance of your residential metal roofing. Here are a few factors to consider:
Sun Exposure
Constant sun exposure can lead to fading over time. If your home gets a lot of sun, consider using reflective paint to reduce heat absorption and prolong the color’s vibrancy.
Rain and Moisture
Heavy rain and moisture can cause rust and mildew. Ensure your gutters are properly clean and functioning to divert water from your roof.
Snow and Ice
Snow and ice can accumulate on a roof in colder climates. Removing heavy snow loads can help prevent structural issues and keep the roof looking fresh.
Enhancing Energy Efficiency with Your Roof Color
Did you know that your residential metal roofing color can influence your home’s energy efficiency? Choosing lighter colors can help reflect sunlight, keeping your home cooler during hot months. On the other hand, darker colors may absorb heat, which can be beneficial in colder climates.
Preserve Your Roof’s Beauty and Durability

How Do You Inspect Residential Metal Roofing for Damage?
If you own a metal roof, you might be wondering how to inspect it properly for signs of damage. After all, your roof is your home’s first line of defense against the elements, and keeping it in good shape is essential for your peace of mind. This guide will walk you through inspecting your residential metal roofing, ensuring that you can identify any potential issues before they become bigger problems.
Understanding Residential Metal Roofing
Metal roofing has become popular for homeowners due to its durability, energy efficiency, and low maintenance requirements. Unlike traditional roofing materials, metal roofs can last decades without needing replacement. However, just like any other roofing material, they can still be susceptible to wear and damage over time. Understanding how to inspect your residential metal roofing can help maintain its integrity and extend its lifespan.
Why Regular Inspections Matter
Regular inspections of your residential metal roofing are important for several reasons. They help you:
Extend the Life of Your Roof: Identifying and addressing issues early can prevent more extensive damage.
Maintain Structural Integrity: An inspection can reveal any areas that may be compromised.
Save Money: Catching small problems early can save you from costly repairs.
When to Inspect Your Roof
Timing your inspections can make a big difference in maintaining your residential metal roofing. Here are some key times to perform an inspection:
Seasonally: At the beginning of each season, check for any wear and tear that may have occurred.
After Severe Weather: Following heavy storms, hail, or high winds, inspect your roof for any damage.
Before Major Renovations: If you plan to change your home, check your roof to ensure it’s in good condition.
How to Inspect Your Residential Metal Roofing
Inspecting your residential metal roofing doesn’t have to be a daunting task. Here’s a step-by-step guide to make the process straightforward and effective:
1. Gather Your Tools
Before you start your inspection, gather the necessary tools. You’ll likely need:
Binoculars (for a distant view)
A sturdy ladder
A flashlight
A notepad and pen (for taking notes)
Safety gear (like gloves and a hard hat)
2. Conduct a Visual Inspection from the Ground
Start your inspection from the ground to get a general sense of your roof’s condition. Using binoculars, look for:
Rust spots or discoloration
Missing or damaged panels
Any visible dents or dings
Loose seams or flashing
3. Ladder Inspection
Once you’ve done a visual check from the ground, it’s time to get a closer look. Carefully place a sturdy ladder against your home and climb the roof. While on the roof, pay attention to:
The overall condition of the panels
Signs of corrosion or rust
Proper alignment of panels and seams
Any debris that may have accumulated (like leaves or twigs)
4. Check the Flashing and Seams
The flashing and seams are critical components of your residential metal roofing. Inspect these areas for:
Cracks or breaks in the flashing
Loose seams that may need resealing
Any signs of water damage or leaks
5. Look for Signs of Wear and Tear
Inspect the roof for any signs of wear that could compromise its integrity:
Scratches or abrasions
Loosening fasteners
Warped or bent panels
6. Perform a Water Test
If you suspect any leaks but can’t see visible damage, consider performing a water test:
Use a hose to spray water on different sections of the roof gently.
Have someone inside the home to check for leaks or dripping water as you do this.
7. Document Your Findings
As you inspect your residential metal roofing, take notes on any issues you find. Documenting your findings will help you track changes and communicate effectively with a roofing professional if needed.
Addressing Any Issues Found
If you identify any problems during your inspection, taking action is important. Here are some common issues and how to address them:
Rust or Corrosion
Rust can significantly weaken your roof’s structure. If you notice small rust spots, clean them with a wire brush and apply a rust-inhibiting primer. For larger areas of corrosion, consider consulting a professional for repairs.
Loose or Damaged Panels
If you find loose panels, check the fasteners. Tighten any loose screws or rivets. If panels are severely damaged, replacement may be necessary.
Flashing Issues
For cracked or broken flashing, reseal the areas with roof sealant or replace the flashing entirely to prevent leaks.
Protecting Your Residential Metal Roofing
Preventing damage before it occurs is often easier than fixing it afterward. Here are some tips for maintaining your residential metal roofing:
Keep It Clean: Regularly remove debris like leaves and branches to prevent water pooling and rust.
Trim Nearby Trees: Overhanging branches can scratch your roof and even cause damage if they fall during a storm.
Schedule Professional Inspections: While you can perform your inspections, having a professional check your roof periodically can ensure that everything is in optimal condition.
Keep Your Roof in Top Shape
Inspecting your residential metal roofing doesn’t have to be complicated. By performing regular inspections and knowing what to look for, you can keep your roof in excellent condition for years. If you find issues during your inspections, addressing them quickly will help you avoid more significant problems.

Writing Notes: Symbols
Tumblr media
To describe a physical symbol, it might be easier if we first focus on its individual elements, then perhaps integrating all of these elements to create a more coherent whole. Below is an overview of elements or basic shapes that we typically find in symbols.
The Basic Shapes of Symbols
There are elemental structures that occur repeatedly, not only as component parts of more elaborate symbols, but also with rich meanings of their own.
It’s probably true to say that the simpler the symbol, the more scope there is for interpretation; ergo, the more meaningful it is and, paradoxically, the more complex it becomes.
These primary shapes transcend barriers of time, geography, and cultural context, part of a universal language that goes before, and beyond, words.
SPACE
The elements of a symbol are defined only by the space that is a part of its construction.
Like the wind, the effect of space is gauged by its effect on the things within it or surrounding it.
The concept of space, the void, is a profound part of our experience.
To reach a state of “emptiness” is, for many, the ultimate spiritual experience and a way of connecting to the Absolute.
To be aware of the possibility of space within a flat, two-dimensional representation is to give that shape substance and a new kind of reality that lifts it off the page and makes it real.
The realization that “nothing” can be “something” marked a profound leap forward in man’s development.
All creation myths begin with a Void, symbolic of potential.
Although attempts to explain the concept of space are inevitably faulty, it might help to think of a blank page.
Before a mark is made upon the paper, the potential for what might appear there is so vast as to be unimaginable, a consideration which causes consternation for some artists and writers.
Without this space, there is no arena for anything else to exist.
This absence of any thing means that no thing is the most important symbol in the World.
DOT
A dot might seem to be an unassuming little thing, the first mark on the pristine sheet of paper.
In this case, the dot is a beginning.
But see what just happened there? The dot, an essential component in the structure of the sentence, closed it, making it a symbol of ending.
Therefore, the dot is both an origination and a conclusion, encompassing all the possibilities of the Universe within it, a seed full of potential and a symbol of the Supreme Being.
The dot is the point of creation, for example the place where the arms of the cross intersect.
The dot is also called the bindhu, which means “drop.”
The bindhu is a symbol of the Absolute, marked on the forehead at the position of the third eye in the place believed to be the seat of the soul.
The presence of dots within a symbol can signify the presence of something else.
A dot in the center of the Star of David marks the quintessence, or Fifth Element.
It also acts as reminder of the concept of space.
The decorated dots that surround the doorways of Eastern temples are not merely ornamental devices but have significance relevant to the worshippers.
Dots frequently appear in this way, acting as a sort of shorthand for the tenets of a faith. Examples:
In the Jain symbol, the dots stand for the Three Jewels of Jainism.
The dots in each half of the yin-yang symbol unify the two halves: one dot is “yin,” the other “yang.” Together they demonstrate the interdependence of opposing forces.
CIRCLE
Effectively an expansion of the dot, the circle represents the spirit and the cosmos.
Further, the circle itself is constructed from “some thing” (the unbroken line) and “no thing” (the space inside and outside this line).
Therefore, the circle unifies spirit and matter.
The structure itself has great strength—think of the cylindrical shape of a lighthouse, built that way in order to withstand the fiercest attack by a stormy sea.
The physical and spiritual strength of this symbol are there because the perfect circle has no beginning and no end; it is unassailable.
This power is the reason why the circle is used in magical practices such as spell-casting.
The magic circle creates a fortress of psychic protection, a physical and spiritual safe haven where unwanted or uninvited entities cannot enter.
Hermes Trismegistus said of the circle: "God is a circle whose center is everywhere and circumference is nowhere."
Where would ancient man have seen the most important circles? Obviously, in the Sun and the Moon.
As the Sun, the circle is masculine, but when it is the Moon, it is feminine.
Because the passage of time is marked by the journey of the Sun, Moon and stars in orbit around our Earth, the circle is a symbol of the passage of time.
In this form, it commonly appears as the wheel.
Because the circle has no divisions and no sides, it is also a symbol of equality.
Example:
King Arthur’s Round Table was the perfect piece of furniture for the fellowship of Knights who were each as important as each other.
ARC
Perhaps the most prominent arc of the natural world appears in the elusive form of the rainbow, which primitive man saw as a bridge between the Heavens and the Earth.
As a part of a circle, the arc symbolizes potential spirit.
The position of the arc is important:
Upright, shaped like a cup or chalice, it implies the feminine principle, something that can contain the spirit.
If the arc is inverted, then the opposite is true and it becomes a triumphal, victorious, masculine symbol.
As such, the arc can take the form of an archway.
The vaulted or arched shape of many holy buildings, from a great variety of different faiths, represents the vault of the Heavens.
The arc shape often appears in planetary symbols.
VERTICAL LINE
Man stands upright, so the vertical line may represent the physical symbol of the number One, man striving toward spirit.
This simple line is the basic shape of the World Tree or Axis Mundi that connects the Heavens, the Earth and the lower regions.
It is not only a basic phallic symbol but also signifies the soul that strives for union with the Divine.
The upright line tells us where we are at a precise moment; think of the big hand of the clock, vertically oriented at 12 o’clock.
HORIZONTAL LINE
Represents: matter, and
the forward and backward movement of time.
This line also signifies
the skyline or horizon and man’s place on the Earth.
CROSS
Here, the vertical and horizontal lines come together to create a new symbol—the cross.
There are countless different types of cross. Despite any embellishments or devices, however, the basic meaning of the cross stays the same.
The earliest example of the cross comes from Crete and dates back to the fifteenth century BC although the sign is much older than this, ancient beyond proper reckoning.
It is an incredibly versatile and useful sign with many interpretations.
As the convergence of the vertical and horizontal lines, it symbolizes the union of the material and the spiritual (think of the sign of the cross given by Catholic priests).
As a geometric tool, it has no equal; if you put the cross inside the circle, then you are able to divide the circle equally.
Similarly, the cross is said to “give birth to” the square.
Because of its four cardinal points, the cross represents the elements and the directions.
Examples:
In the West the cross equates with the number 4,
but in China, it is associated with the number 5 since the “dot” in the middle of the cross, where the two arms intersect, is also included.
The cross is sometimes disguised as another symbol, such as a fourpetaled flower.
All over the world, the cross is a symbol of protection.
SQUARE
Said to be the first shape invented by Man, the square represents the created Universe as opposed to the spiritual dimensions depicted by the circle.
The square represents the Earth and the four elements.
Plato described the square, like the circle, as being “absolutely beautiful in itself.”
Like the cross, the square is associated with the number 4.
A square has four corners; to speak of the “four corners of the Earth” is something of an anomaly since the Earth is round, without corners.
All the symbolism of the number 4 is encompassed within the square, and it is interesting to note that, just as the square represents the created Universe, in the Hebrew faith the Holy Name of the Creator is comprised of four letters.
The square gives man a safe, static reference point, and a stable, unmoving shape as opposed to the continual motion of the circle.
Temples and holy buildings are often built in the form of a square, solidly designed to align with the four points of the compass.
Examples: The Ka’aba at Mecca; the base of the Buddhist Stupa; altars.
Square shapes define limits and create boundaries.
To speak of someone as being “square” means that they are fixed and unchangeable.
LOZENGE
A diamond shape often with rounded (rather than pointed) ends, the lozenge is often overlooked, but is actually a representation of the female genitalia.
As such, its most popular appearance is probably as the vesica piscis, the sacred doorway through which spirit enters the world of matter.
In heraldry, for example, the lozenge is used in place of the masculine shield, to denote a coat of arms belonging to a woman or a noncombative male, such as a member of the clergy.
TRIANGLE
The triangle shares all the symbolic significance of the number 3, as a shape, and therefore represents the many things that come in groups of three, from the Holy Trinity to the triple aspect of the Goddess.
Triangles appear in lots of different signs and symbols.
In ancient times, the triangle was considered synonymous with light, and the meanings of the triangle vary according to which way up it is:
When it sits firmly on its base, then it is a masculine, virile symbol, representing fire.
The other way up it becomes the water element, a chalice shape, emblematic of the feminine powers.
Balanced on its point in this way the triangle also represents the yoni, further underpinning the Goddess aspect.
The equilateral triangle is a harmonious form, used to indicate the Higher Powers, providing a framework, for example, for the All Seeing Eye of God.
As a symbol of strength, the triangle reinforces the corners of the square, both physically and meta-physically.
The solid shape of the triangle also makes its appearance in yogic positions, for example in the Trikona Asana or Triangle Posture.
DIAGONAL
The square can be divided into two diagonal triangles.
Because the length of these shapes has no simple relationship to its sides, the Greeks concluded that the diagonal must be a symbol of the irrational.
Therefore, the diagonal, or oblique, has come to be associated with the incomprehensible, occult world.
ZIG-ZAG
However it is interpreted, the jagged shape of the zig-zag carries with it the idea of heat, energy, vitality, and movement, the archetypal sign for lightning or electricity.
The double zig-zag that makes the astrological glyph for Aquarius could be water or it could be the life-force itself.
The serpent that spirals up the Caduceus is a softened zig-zag shape.
There is an inherent danger in the zig-zag, and the deities that carry it in their hands do so as a sign of their own authority and power.

10 Fascinating Things About Kanji You Might Not Know Yet
Kanji, the logographic characters used in the Japanese writing system, offer an array of intriguing aspects that fascinate learners and scholars alike. Their long history, unique structure, and cultural significance make Kanji a central part of both the language and the broader Japanese cultural landscape. Here are 10 fascinating things about Kanji that you might not know yet:
1. Pictographic Origins:
Many Kanji characters originated as simplified drawings or pictographs of the objects they represent. For instance, the Kanji for "tree" looks like a simplified tree. This direct connection between the character and the object it represents makes Kanji visually interesting and often easier to remember.
2. Complex Characters:
Some Kanji characters are quite intricate and composed of multiple strokes. This complexity contributes to the beauty and artistry of written Japanese. The intricate patterns and lines of Kanji characters can be seen in calligraphy, art, and traditional Japanese design.
3. Multiple Readings:
Kanji characters often have multiple readings (pronunciations), including on'yomi (音読み) based on the Chinese pronunciation and kun'yomi (訓読み) based on the native Japanese pronunciation. This can make learning Kanji more challenging, but it also adds to the richness and diversity of the Japanese language.
4. Radicals:
Kanji characters are categorized into radicals, which are smaller, meaningful components. Understanding radicals aids in learning and memorizing Kanji. By recognizing the radicals within a Kanji character, you can often deduce its meaning or pronunciation.
5. Jōyō Kanji:
The Japanese government designates a set of Kanji characters known as Jōyō Kanji, considered essential for daily use. For example, 人 (ひと, hito) - person; 日 (ひ, hi) - sun, day; 本 (ほん, hon) - book. This list is periodically updated to reflect changes in society and language usage.
6. Cultural Significance:
Kanji characters are integral to Japanese culture, seen in calligraphy, art, and traditional ceremonies. They often carry profound meanings and symbolism. For example, the Kanji for "family" (家) is often used in traditional Japanese homes, symbolizing unity and protection.
7. Stroke Order:
There's a specific stroke order for writing each Kanji character. Following this order is essential for proper penmanship and helps in remembering the characters. Learning the correct stroke order can improve your handwriting and make it easier to recognize Kanji characters.
8. Homophones:
Due to the limited number of sounds in Japanese, different Kanji characters can have the same pronunciation. Context becomes crucial in understanding meaning. For example, the Kanji characters "河" (kawa) and "川" (kawa) both mean "river," but they are written differently.
9. Adaptation in Other Languages:
Some Kanji characters have been adopted by other East Asian languages, like Chinese and Korean, with variations in pronunciation and meaning. This shows the influence and spread of Kanji throughout East Asia.
10. Evolving Characters:
The shapes and meanings of Kanji characters have evolved over centuries. Understanding historical contexts can provide deeper insights into their meanings. For example, the Kanji for "car" (車) was originally a pictograph of a chariot, reflecting the transportation methods of ancient times.
These aspects contribute to the richness and complexity of Kanji, making them a fascinating aspect of the Japanese language and culture. However, due to its complexity, it becomes a daunting challenge for many learners, including myself. There is no one-size-fits-all method or resource that works for everyone, so be patient as you figure out what works best for you to memorize Kanji.

The Purgatory of Stillness
One of the most polarizing feelings that I feel sometimes is the crushing and overwhelming realization of the complexities of the world around me, all of the systems (nervous, societal, structural) of everyone and everything within my environment turns into something that is so suddenly magnified in front of my face that it pushes me to the ground with great might. It's akin to putting on prescription glasses for the first time in your life and realizing that the world is this extremely interconnected symbiosis of systems, both in nature and in manmade construction. The individual leaves of trees, the tiny little rocks of asphalt that you used to look past with glossy eyes as your periphery blends into this muck of barely perceptible colours and shapes not unlike a Monet painting.
This feeling occurs in utter stillness, in stillness so still that the natural humdrum of life isn't present. Stillness so still that it is offensively loud, fostering in you a complete inability to concentrate on anything but this persistent state. It's not an objectively bad state to be in nor is it an objectively good state to be in. It is simply a state in which you exist in the middle of two extremes, a sort of purgatory of sorts. What I mean by this is that it is a state so delicate and airy that at any point you can either succumb to complete despair and crushing depression, or you can use it to foster an intense feeling of being connected to the world around you. It's very easy to go whichever way you're naturally predisposed to, and whichever way you're led, you are immediately catapulted into the depths of it. There is never a "tiny" bit of despair or a "tiny" bit of enlightenment, you have no choice but to feel the deepest effects of these polar opposite states.
The thing is, this state isn't something that is ephemeral in it's nature, it's something that persists consistently in the backgrounds of our very psyches. One of the main reasons why we're not always consciously aware of this feeling is because of how many things we layer on top of this basal humanistic feeling throughout our daily lives with the thousand different mundane things that we need to accomplish or do. These routines and responsibilities which consist of being a functional human being within our societies ultimately distract us from our essential existence. This, however, isn't to say that these distractions are particularly negative or bad things. They serve a very real purpose of integrating ourselves within our cultures and societies, an essential component to our survival and general happiness. When we are disenfranchised from society, as in the case of prisoners, lunatics, or social outcasts, a large and sacred part of our humanity as individuals is decoupled and we turn into savaged beasts who belong to no structure or group.
However, as useful as this fitting into a societal structure is, it lays prey to us forgetting who we are as individuals, what the stillness of our hearts feels like and sounds like without the noise of that which is around us. Which brings us back to this discrete feeling. Generally, it is only through deliberate meditative practice or situations where our own mortality is put into the forefront of our attention, such as in a near-death situation or some intensely painful and life-altering news. In the moments when we are unsure of what to make of what just happened, do we get invited to dwell in this purgatory for a time, before our minds make up our minds.
Earlier, I mentioned this capacity to be swayed by whatever you're predisposed to. How you arrive at this state, whether through the budding hints of intense emotional pain or the serenity of deep peace, will dictate where the wind takes you. For instance, in the aftermath of intense heartbreak or loss, you inevitably reach a point of stillness. From there, you may either fall back into the depths of despair (a common response) or begin the slow walk toward acceptance and eventual enlightenment. Conversely, entering this state through meditation, prayer or some other kind of deliberate tranquility such as nature walks makes it more likely you’ll follow the path of enlightenment, avoiding the pull of despair entirely.
It is within this duality, this teetering between complete despair and enlightenment, that the state reveals itself to be an incredible teaching tool. When you deliberately spearhead yourself into this deep stillness that always exists within you, looking through all the superficial blubber that exists on top of it from the distractions mentioned above, are we able to confront the truths that we so desperately try to avoid in our daily lives.
It’s hard to say what comes from this feeling. Sometimes it feels like it’s just there, sitting in your chest, waiting for you to do something with it. But what? I guess that’s the thing about being in this state, it doesn’t tell you what to do, it just holds up a mirror and makes you look. Heartbreak throws you into it, like falling into a cold lake. Meditation lets you walk into it slowly, like stepping into a quiet room. But once you’re there, it doesn’t give you a map. You just have to feel your way through.
Maybe that’s the point. It’s not about figuring out what to do with the feeling but about letting it show you something, about yourself, about the world, about whatever’s underneath all the noise. It’s uncomfortable, yeah. It’s heavy and loud, and sometimes it feels like it’s too much. But maybe that’s where it’s trying to teach you something, not by giving you answers, but by forcing you to sit with the questions. What do you see when you’re there? What do you hear? What do you feel? Maybe it’s not about knowing what comes from this feeling but being willing to find out.

~~@symbruary time!!!~~ For day one, xenobiology, please have a diagram I dew for @bakageta for the holidays. I've got another one somewhere on paper but IDK where yet. We'll see if I find it before the month ends.
Anyway! This is how my 4D symbiotes work WRT a host. Symbiote tissue in black, Host tissue in red, other matter in green, and reality/plane/dimension stuff in blue.
The basic thrust of it is that the main symbiote body is in a pocket dimension floating outside another reality. We'll call that the material universe, but insert whatever marvel 616/MCU/etc dimension you want. The symbiote pocket is tethered to an anchor - a part of the host that either thinks (produces VitT) or initiates signals to control the host body, typically a brain or brain-analogue - by the symbiote's hold-fast, an organ that specializes in host-klyntar integration and communication. The graphic doesn't say so, but a symbiote can tether to its own biomass, which is how they don't just sucked out of reality without a host, but it doesn't help with the next part.
Connecting the pocket dimension and material reality via the host is the threshhold, which can be thought of kind of like a hallway/throat/tunnel/meniscus membrane leading from the body of the host into a non-xyzt dimension and ending at the symbiote pocket. Through this, the symbiote can send biomass and have it emerge at any bit of the host's body, or have it hover just out of phase in order to perceive inner processes. Nutrients and resources can be gathered in the material world and transferred through the threshhold. Though passing into the pocket itself will scramble/digest them, they can be instead temporarily stored in the threshold itself to be pulled to either side later.
Parts of the host, or its entirety, can be held out of material reality if cantilevered by equal or greater symbiote mass. When this is done it is safely stored in the threshhold. This is not quite suspended animation, and is both tricky and somewhat taxing to both components, but can temporarily remove the threat of damage to the host. The failure state of this is the host falling back into reality, not being stuck in the threshhold or being drawn into the pocket.
Ease of transfer through the threshhold - the "bandwidth", basically, the amount that can be stored there and the safety of those things is directly correlated to host compatibility, though host size and symbiote health are also a factor. Communication counts towards the bandwidth limit, and that includes between pieces of the symbiote itself.
A hostless symbiote, especially one with very little mass left out in the world, has its mind throttled. This can be somewhat mitigated by hardcoding some memories into its biomass beforehand, or creating structures analogous to a brain, but that is a stopgap at best. The hold-fast itself contains the very minimum that the symbiote needs to be able to reconnect to a host, but it is life support at best, and without that or with the threshhold severed entirely they are essentially dead no matter the amount of resources and life in the pocket, as it has no way to reattach to a reality and will simply drift away and starve.
Similarly, any bits of symbiotic biomass cut off from the main body, whether that's a a chunk taken out of the whole or the other side of the severed threshhold coin, are mindless. They might flop around for a bit based on existing pre-programming and movement structures, but they have no will behind them and will soon die unless reattached to the main mass.
Uhhh... what else is in this picture?
That physics in the material world vs the pocket are different, are the threshhold is less concrete than that (labelled as "physics???"). There is some influence by the pocket, some by the material world, some by whatever dimension the threshhold is tunnelling through (not necessarily stable), and it can also be changed somewhat by choice and will. This is helpful when you've got part of the host in there and only want some biological processes to run and not others, or you want to have raw biomass in the same space as your gameboy, which would normally require incompatible sets of physics; biomass in the material world needs to have some shape and structure and stuff.
They symbiote main body has a bunch of raw biomass and some organs - (digestion, thinking, memory storage, chemical production, etc), some pockets of digested resources (single-type atoms/molecules mostly) [Carbon dioxide, silicone, bone], and indigestible resources (scrambled). Those contrast with the host organs on the host side (the host is depicted as a human), and the host's digestion, as well as the nondigested resources in the threshhold, depicted as a boot, a pencil, a gameboy, and a bone.

ESA delivers again: ESM-3 departs for US to power Artemis III
ESA’s third European Service Module (ESM-3), for NASA’s Artemis III mission, has departed from the Airbus facility in Bremen, Germany, and will soon leave Europe on its way to the United States. This marks a critical milestone in Europe's continued contribution to humankind’s return to the Moon.
Manufactured in Italy, assembled in Germany, and built with components sourced from over 20 companies across more than 10 European countries, ESM-3 embodies the spirit of international collaboration. The module will now make its way to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center port aboard the transport ship Canopée, a journey that will take approximately 12 days across the Atlantic Ocean.
The European Service Module is an essential component of NASA’s Orion spacecraft, providing power, propulsion and life-support systems for astronauts during their deep space missions. This marks the third such module delivered by ESA, following the successful Artemis I mission and the ongoing preparations for Artemis II.
The journey of ESM-3 began in Turin, Italy, at Thales Alenia Space, where the module’s structural backbone was constructed. This complex structure supports 11 km of wiring, 33 engines, four tanks of propellant and solar arrays that can generate enough electricity to power two households.
Following assembly in Bremen, the module’s main engine—an engine with a legacy of nine Space Shuttle missions—was installed earlier this year.
Upon arrival at Kennedy Space Center, ESM-3 will be integrated with the Crew Module Adapter and the Crew Module itself. Rigorous testing will follow to ensure that everything is ready for the Artemis III mission, which aims to land astronauts on the Moon for the first time since the Apollo era.
This departure represents a key step in ESA’s partnership with NASA, demonstrating Europe's commitment to advancing human exploration beyond Earth.
