Pencil: does this character have any "sketchy" habits? Have they ever broken the law? Do they regret it?

Pen: what's one minor moment your character regrets? A small mistake, but something they "can't erase"?

Paintbrush: How often does your character "brush over" conflict instead of facing it head on? Is there something specific they don't like to face, or do they avoid conflict as a whole?

Marker: what's one thing your character would never tattoo on their body, even if they were paid a million dollars for it?

Crayon: what was your OC like when they were four years old? Were they loud? Shy? Were they the resident "weird kid" or did they get along with others their age?

scribbled this one on a very quick very unpolished whim. @notadrde, you asked for this one as well!

❤️ first kiss / realization

“Oh,” Talanah breathes when they finally break apart.

Is that a good thing, or a bad thing? Aloy can’t tell. Talanah’s eyes are wide and her pupils are glinted by the sunlight and her lips—her lips are still parted. That’s all her mind can fathom.

“Ah—yeah.” That’s one way to put it. The space between them resounds, echoing the sudden newness of mouth on mouth. Aloy cringes. Glances away. Her hands tremble against Talanah’s waist but don’t withdraw. There must be something else she can say—something that expresses how her heart is knocking hard in her chest, something for her cheeks set aflame—but all she can manage is: “Yeah.”

Somehow the lack of eloquence doesn’t send Talanah on the hunt for an escape. Quite the contrary, she frames Aloy’s face with her hands, urging eye contact. Her gaze is shimmering, high noon cast over rippling water. 

Her smile is—a little bit sad.

She says, “I’m so sorry.”

Aloy’s throat goes weak and sour. Regret. Optimistic assumptions and impulse proven foolish. There it is: the dread, the falling ax, the pale-shadowed urge to tear back and flee. 

And she would, if it wasn’t for Talanah’s thumbs sweeping along her cheekbones, her soft but desperate voice.

“Wait. No.” She reads the silent hurt in Aloy’s eyes and corrects herself, more flustered than Aloy’s ever known her to be. “Please. I meant…I’m sorry I never knew.”

Sunflares dazzle. Time lost. All the ways this could have gone, if. Regret, set in a different framing.

Aloy gets a breath. Feels herself turning towards one of Talanah’s hands. Mouth-corner nudges against the base of her palm as she admits, with the new benefit of self-aware truth, “I wasn’t very good at showing it.”

“Neither was I,” Talanah replies. 

Then she laughs, quietly. Aloy leans in without thinking. It’s the first motion of a bow, a grovel, a nod of long-coming recognition. 

One tiny motion and there’s almost no space between them for daylight.

Forward, forward.

Talanah’s hands slip slow and smooth to the crook of Aloy’s jaw, letting her fingers find her nape.

“I’d like to make up for it,” Talanah murmurs, backbone-throbbing, “if you’ll let me.”

Aloy answers without words, without any need for them.

So I saw this post (linked above) and decided to answer all the questions instead of just reblogging and waiting for asks. Enjoy getting to know a bit more about me as a writer!

💖 What do you like most about your own writing?

I love how fluffy it generally is and how my fics always have a happy ending 🥰

😐 What embarrasses you most about your own writing?

I don't think I'm embarrassed about my writing? Maybe sometimes I'll write a kiss that feels a bit cringe?

👻 What is one WIP you think you may never pick back up?

'the heist wip'. Inspired by the episode Ocean's 9-1-1, I wanted to explore what situation could make them ACTUALLY turn to crime. I had a vague idea of a woman's dog being kidnapped by her abusive ex, and Buck gets all obsessed over it and eventually asks the rest of the team to help him break the dog out or something. idk. I don't have a solid enough idea and I feel like it would end up being a long fic which I just can't commit to atm. (If anyone reading this is inspired by this idea, feel free to write it!! But please tag me if you do! I would love to read it!)

👀 Do you have any WIPs that you would never let see the light of day? If yes, what are they about?

... I don't think so?

Yeah I've just had a skim through and can't find anything that I would never share if I managed to finish it.

Ooohhh, I love getting comments on ALL my fics but I guess if I had to choose I'd probably go with Friends Don't (8.5k) because it has a special place in my heart.

Not strictly, but most days yes.

"Yes we could," Eddie argued, suddenly stubborn and confrontational. "We could go a week."

"You wanna bet, Diaz?" Chimney asked, raising an eyebrow in challenge.

After a quick glance to communicate with Buck, Eddie nodded and said, "You're on. What are the terms?"

Uhhh I don't know. I feel like I'm constantly learning about writing and just generally trying to improve in all areas.

YES ALL THE TIME. I looooove reading over my fics. Makes me so happy!!

🤔 What is the hardest part of writing fic?

Writing kisses. Or endings. Both. Every time Buddie are about to kiss I tend to abandon the fic for a while lmaoooo and then whenever I have to wrap it up it takes me 3-5 business days.

🧠 What’s an idea you have that you can’t quite call a WIP yet?

Up for anything. All I've got for it so far is this:

Buck: No, I mean it. I'm up for anything. If you can come up with something I won't do you win. But I'm telling you right now I never back down from a dare.

💻 Do you do research for your fics? What’s the deepest dive you’ve done?

fhjskfh I hate research. My deepest dive is whatever happens in the show. I'll rewatch or maybe read wikis to make sure I get show details accurate but anything else? I'm making that shit up bestie 😅

“Come now, Herr Forehead! You must admit, it’s the pinnacle of songwriting!” Apollo wasn’t sure how they had gotten into this discussion. One moment they were in bed together talking about music, and the next they were discussing song lyrics. Which then led to this ridiculous discussion. “Really, Klavier? “She’s indecisive, she can’t decide” is peak songwriting to you?” Apollo questioned with a brow raised. “Ja, of course! Is it not to you?” “Of course it isn’t! It’s repetitive! He already said she was indecisive, why would he explain what it means-” Apollo stopped as he saw the huge grin on Klavier’s face, shooting him a glare. “Wait, you’re just fucking with me!” “I have no idea what you’re talking about, Herr Forehead.” Klavier laughed as Apollo hit him on the head with a pillow.

One of the downsides of living in Los Angeles was the fact that it didn’t snow very often. Franziska missed it sometimes, the way snow blanketed the whole world in its pure white sheet, how brisk and cool the winter air was on her skin, the comfort of wearing winter clothes. Her and Maya Fey had decided to visit Franziska’s family in Germany, and Franziska had to admit, it was nice. It was nice getting to see the snow again. She still remembered when she hated the snow, and thought it was foolish. They do say that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Franziska smiled at the sight of it, her aunt’s backyard covered in snow. That was, until she felt a snowball pelted at the back of her head. She turned around to the source of said snowball, smiling when she saw Maya grinning at her. “Gotcha, Franzy!” Franziska smiled, a plan forming in her head. “I really do love you, Maya Fey.” “I love you too Franzy- WOAH!” Maya yelped as a snowball hit her right in the face. Franziska snickered. “NOT FAIR, FRANZY! That’s cheating!” Maya said. “And so is hitting someone distracted with a snowball, Maya Fey.” Franziska replied. “Oh! You’re gonna get it!” The two laughed as they engaged in a fierce snowball fight. And as Franziska pelted a snowball at Maya’s face again, laughing when she pouted, Franziska knew that she was in love.

Phoenix could bake. That still surprised Miles to this day, even when Phoenix had baked cookies and brownies for him. Sure, Phoenix was a pretty good cook, but baking was different. Baking required an intense and meticulous precision, and that bluffer of a man was the opposite of precise. And yet, Phoenix could bake. There was no denying that. And he was a pretty darn good baker, too. Phoenix was just perfecting his recipe for strawberry pie, and he had asked Miles to taste test it for him. Miles was more than willing to, he was his boyfriend after all, and he always liked to see what Phoenix had in store for him. Besides, Miles had never tried strawberry pie, and he thought it’d be nice to finally try it. After hours of work, Phoenix was finally able to show Miles the pie that he had just baked. He carried it over to Miles, setting it down the table. Just by the way it looked it was already delicious, though looks really weren’t everything. “Here it is! And if it’s trash, please be honest with me. I wanna know what I’m doing wrong.” Phoenix said. “Of course, Wright.” Miles replied. Miles took a bite out of the pie, and his eyes widened as soon as he tasted it. It was incredible. The crust was perfectly soft and flakey, but not overpowering the sweet tart of the strawberry. Even if he’d never tried strawberry pie before, he knew this was the best pie in the world. Phoenix was staring at him, with wide eyes and flour on his clothes, face, and hair. “How is it…?” “It’s incredible.” Miles said with a smile. Phoenix grinned, Miles fell in love with that grin.

“Are you quite sure you’re alright?” He says it like an after-thought and with a slight hint of annoyance that Charles is familiar enough with by now to place somewhere closer to nervousness. 

Charles takes a short unnecessary breath through his nose. Edwin is nervous. He’s worried about something beyond the immediate particulars of the case and he’s nervous to ask if Charles is alright. 

He follows Edwin’s invisible footsteps in the moth-eaten carpet and sits heavily on the top step of the stairs. He remembers the last time Edwin looked like that only vaguely, at the base of a lighthouse where the cold damp ground might have soaked the knees of Charles’ trousers if he’d been tangible enough for it to reach him. Where Charles had shrugged away the only thing that could still reach him like that: a tentative hand on his shoulder. Soft, even though he’d just watched Charles kill in cold blood. Always soft, despite everything. 

“I’m fine, really.” Charles rests his forearms on his knees, addressing the patch of stair between his loafers. “Nothing happened. They just talked about, well, them. Being together. They love each other a lot. It’s…nice.”

In terms of fanfic I think it's 3 total: The Case of David Bowie's Made-up Sexuality, which I AM still working on I promise!! (I actually started to do some research for it and went down a hole about object theory and hauntology?? Yes I am a nerd and yes fanfic is a valid method of practice based research, shush. Also some of the content got maybe a little bit triggering? So it's nice to kind of base it in something more concrete idk) also a couple others based on some AMAZING art/fic in the fandom that I'm so keen to get to interact with creatively ahhh v excited to finish and post those!!

💭 What is a headcanon you have about your own work?

I actually don't really know what's a specific hc for MY work vs my hcs for the media I write fic for, if that makes sense? But just in terms of dbd and how i've been enjoying writing that: Edwin's pov works in a mode based in literary/scientific/classical reference points and I always aim for this really specific intersection of poetry and metaphor with straightforward, empirical fact. It's SUPER fun for me!!

Charles' pov is a lot more straightforward - when I write him I literally am constantly going back and deleting words like "he thinks" and "he feels like." Where Edwin is intentionally a step removed sometimes and might go "he thinks there is something stifled inside of him that might never have fully caught on," even in metaphor, Charles is such a do-er, a man of ACTION, he's not going to waste time going "I think the situation is like xyz" he's barely going to think through it, he's just going to be like *this is the situation* even if it's blatantly wrong. Like, "Edwin is still going strong on his no detective work while Charles is useless campaign. Well, he doesn’t phrase it like that, but Charles can read between the lines well enough." "problematic thought pattern," "cricket metaphor," et cetera

C: What member do you identify with most?

Ohhh, this is simultaneously hard to say and the easiest thing in the world, but I do identify the most with Jan. We both have that black cat chaos energy and we both are cat parents 🐈‍⬛🐈, so I'm obviously more inclined to feel similar to him from the get go.

I've also been described as mysterious and confused (less mysterious, more confused), so I feel like that might fit. And we're both kinda sleepy and have a resting 😐🤨 face. I call it lovingly "resting blank face".

Also, I, too, cannot help but want to film Bojan whenever I can or stare at Nace...

I absolutely adore her writing style. The way she's able to take suffering and resolve it in all the good smut? Yes, definitely one of my favs. I especially like her fic been deprived and the sequel quietly, so if you like angst in your smut, her fics are definitely your thing then!

Sophie has a really, really nice writing style, and I enjoy his Ne Bi Smel verse starting with The Holidate so much! It's so sweet and the smut is so hot and good and spicey and hahsjjskdjdkfkf for a long time having something nice to read every Sunday was just perfect to end the week with! He mainly writes BoKris (also, give Dopamin a read, the way he writes overstimulated Bojan is just so sjjdndndndnndnfmfm so good), but there is also a nice focus on Jance, that I really enjoy :3

I actually have a few ideas I've been cooking, a few of them are gonna be joined collabs with North! Next to continuing our DJwD verse (yes, there will be more, these men won't stop and have infected our heads with Daddy Nace and I just cannot, I cannot anymore), we also planned a Romeo & Juliet 🌹 fic, which we won't go into detail yet, since we can't start it yet 🤭

Then I also have a Bo(Jan)² fic started, its the same one I mentioned last time, the one with the skirt, but I cannot shut up about it. I keep calling it the ✨️girlfriend thing✨️ if that helps anyone...

And next to those and continuing with my other fics, I also can't get a vampire Bo(Jan)² fic out of my mind...
