Winner 🏆 @FedExChamp Hideki Matsuyama https://t.co/A8RFIRJa53— RevBruceJ (@RevBruceJ1) August 18, 2024 When we think about beating the odds, we usually think about stuff that we could easily hurdle and conquer. For most of us weekend golfers, that might include a golf ball neatly dropped into a gopher hole just off the fairway or a pack of geese trampling your golf ball on an otherwise-smooth…

I don't ask for much... just to be married to kate martin 😔
What about kate Martin dealing with a moody pregnant wife? She is mad at the world, then BAM! She is crying and then BAM! "I'm a terrible wife and a bad mother!"
Just hurt/comfort
Take your time and take care 🫶

Kate Martin x pregnant!reader
Warnings: Fluff and a bit, just a little smudge of angst
Synopsis: Kate dealing with your pregnancy hormones and attitude
Tumblr media
You woke up a little under the weather, but you still had a few errands to run with kate busy at practice. she had a game tomorrow and you hoped you feel better by then.
It’s hot out, and you have to make a costco run for the house. You get a call from your wife. you answer it as you push the cart through the warehouse of a grocery store.
“i saw your location, can you pick my package at the fedEx by the costco, please.” Her voice more on the pleading side, you huffed lightly. Still not finished with your own errands.
“okay, i’ll talk to you later,” Your voice laced with irritation, Kate too oblivious to notice.
“love you,” She mumbled, you hung up. If it’s not one thing it’s the next. you didn’t want to pick her package, you wanted to be at home resting. It’s hot and you’re uncomfortable, you just looked irritated and stressed. an older woman caressed your shoulder telling you it will be okay and she wishes the best with your pregnancy.
When you were done shopping you went to the fedEx and picked up the package for Kate, not even wanting to do your other errands. you ended up driving back home, you took a shower washing away the sheer layer of sweat that covered your body.
When you woke up from your nap you were met with Kate caressing your bump.
“your temperature went up, why didn’t you tell me?” She furrowed her brows, she looked hurt from the fact you didn’t tell her your fever wasn’t going down.
“i didn’t want you to worry and if i told you, you would’ve put me on bed rest.” You explained to her, sitting up against the headboard. She rubbed her face, now she looked irritated.
“You didn’t want me to worry? damn right i would’ve put you on bed rest, I don’t think you understand that what you do to your body matter.” she scolded, her chest rising higher than before.
“what about me.. I have things to do, that i can’t just stop and if i don’t do it who will, you’re always busy..” You were upset more ways than one, the light tears in your eyes.
She huffed, pulling you closer.
“what’s going on with you..” She wiped your tears, she leaned in, fixing your hair.
“i’m tired, sick, heavy… they’re so many responsibilities and things i have to do,” you were clearly overwhelmed, your stress levels were on ten.
“baby breathe, it’s okay to take a break, you know that right?” she kissed your forehead then cupping your face.
“i don’t want to be a lazy mom who does nothing…” You mumble, she chuckles and you frown deepens.
“you’re the opposite of lazy, you’re going to be an amazing mom,”
“you think so?”
“I know so, now quit your crying it’s not good to be stressing the baby out,”

january 26 - delivery || @jegulus-microfic || wc: 241
James was late.
Regulus knew that James was late because it was 2:53, twenty-three minutes past when James usually showed up at the bookstore’s backdoor, red in the face from wheeling a dolly loaded with boxes of new releases and smiling cheerfully. Regulus often wondered if that smile was reserved specifically for him, and then immediately wanted to punch himself in the face for the pathetic wishful thinking.
Regulus scowled at the book open in front of him from his stool behind the cash register when the bell over the front door chimed, ushering a customer in from the rain.
“Delivery?” Regulus looked up in surprise at the voice as a takeaway coffee cup was placed gently on the counter in front of him, the sight of James—damp from head to toe with a slight blush peeking out of the collar of his FedEx rain jacket—enough to spin him back into the realm of maybe-not-so-pathetic wishes.
“Sorry for the delay,” James added, standing there bashfully, his own coffee cup in hand and head tilted to the side a bit. “The boxes are still around back, but I thought you might enjoy something extra today.”
It wasn’t until an hour later that, in going to throw it away, Regulus noticed a phone number scrawled across the side of the empty cup. He walked home that night with a smile on his face and a new text conversation open on his phone.

Well, What the Hell Did You Expect?
It was inevitable.
Okay, that's not to say that we all woke up the day of the Richmond race and knew it was going to be these exact guys at this exact track, but like...don't tell me you didn't expect for something like this come Daytona. It's just how a "win and you're in" playoff format works, especially when you remove the top thirty in points requirement. That means you can be one of the worst drivers in Cup, nepotism baby who hasn't scored a top five in fifty races, but you have one race where you're at the front and can win your way into the playoffs.
In an instant, you go from thirty-second in points to guaranteed to finish at worst sixteenth.
In an instant, you off the back of one race, lock yourself in while guys like Chris Buescher and Ross Chastain that have run at the front in multiple races and have a much better chance of actually progressing in the playoffs, are knocked out. At this point, Buescher, Chastain, Bubba Wallace, Chase Briscoe, Kyle Busch, etc, etc, are gonna have to win one of Michigan, Daytona, or Darlington to make the playoffs.
That's less races than drivers.
So, let's talk about what happened.
Austin Dillon in the Bass Pro Shops Hunting Sale #3 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing worked his way into the lead at Richmond with three to go. Daniel Suarez in sixth is on fresh option tyres (because that's another thing, before all this nonsense, Richmond was actually a rather interesting race with two different tyre compounds, a soft option that was clearly faster than the hard prime, but degradation brought the prime runners back into contention) but he wasn't gaining quick enough.
Then Ricky Stenhouse had a wiggle going into turn one while Ryan Preece was trying to crowd him down through the corner. They touch, they spin - right in front of the #3 no less - and the caution comes out. Austin Dillon will have to defend his lead from at least one overtime green-white-checker restart.
The leaders pit ahead of the GWC.
Denny Hamlin is second in the #11 FedEx Rewards Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. He has the best pit selection of the three leaders.
Joey Logano is third in the #22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford for Team Penske.
Denny seems like he's going to have the advantage, but his pitstop was slow! Austin Dillon comes out first, then Joey Logano, and Denny Hamlin is third.
Austin chooses the bottom, Joey goes to the top, Denny follows Austin.
Green - the race restarts with two laps to go.
They restart, Joey pulls alongside immediately, the cars are fanning out behind so nobody's really getting a push, and Logano finds the grip on the top because he pulls ahead through turns one and two. On the backstretch, he clears.
Dillon tries to get back to him with the draft and through turns three and four but can't do it. By the time they cross the start-finish line, Joey has but at least a car length between them.
White - the flag means the start of the last lap, and whatever flag flies next - be it the checkered at the end of the lap, or a yellow or red before that - ends the race.
Dillon tries again on the backstretch, but Logano is clear. In turns three and four, it seems like Logano is going to win it...until Austin Dillon just doesn't brake? Like...at all?
Dillon piledrives into the corner, starts running up the track because he's too fast, and then hits Joey on the right edge of his rear bumper, and spins him out.
Joey is spinning, Austin is pulling the nose of his car down, and Denny Hamlin from third is going beneath the both of them to try and win this race.
And then the really obscene part happens.
Austin Dillon (with his spotter shouting "Wreck him!" no less) swerves left and hooks Denny's right rear. Denny hits the wall right side door first, the yellow comes out around this point. Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace are getting runs on Dillon, but one: Austin just holds them off to the line, two: because of the yellow flag coming out at some point after those Logano and Hamlin incidents, it didn't matter anyway.
Tyler Reddick bumps Austin Dillon on the cooldown lap just to show his displeasure.
As of right now, Austin Dillon is classified first, Hamlin second, the 23XI cars of Reddick and Wallace are third and fourth, and Ross Chastain is fifth. Joey Logano was classified as nineteenth.
How exactly NASCAR determined that finishing order is a mystery, but what isn't a mystery is why this happened.
Like I alluded to earlier, Austin Dillon was thirty-second going into this race. He hadn't scored a top five all season, he only has one good race a year, and at least half the fanbase sees him as a disgrace to the #3 car. Austin Dillon had no chance of making the playoffs on merit.
The only way he was going to make it was to win.
Richmond was the only opportunity he was going to get.
Logano and Denny were already locked into the playoffs, another win wouldn't mean much for them.
Does any of this excuse what he did? Absolutely not. Logano or Hamlin could've been hurt and the fact that they weren't is not an excuse.
But this is why Austin Dillon says "he did what he had to do" because this win if you're in format causes this type of shit. NASCAR literally made this exact scenario possible by removing the top thirty in points rule from playoff eligibility ahead of the 2023 season. So yeah, of course this was going to happen, because drivers are desperate for wins to begin with and this playoff system enables it.
I'm not even trying to be a boomer and say get rid of the playoffs, I understand that they're here to stay, but why on Earth would you remove the top thirty requirement? That was at least a rule that required a driver show some sort of competitive pace consistently in order to make the playoffs.
By removing that, NASCAR gives bad drives a blank check to do stupid and dangerous moves if they're even remotely in contention to win.
And you know what, in two weeks at Daytona, if the likes of Harrison Burton or John Hunter Nemechek (for example) are anywhere near the front of the field, they'll do this exact same thing. A win means a top sixteen finish in the championship for your team, nobody expects NASCAR to give serious consequences to this kind of stuff, and even if they suspended you, that doesn't seem to matter either.
Last year Chase Elliott got suspended for right hooking Denny Hamlin into the wall and NASCAR granted him a playoff waiver.
Fans can complain all they want, because when it comes to this stuff, NASCAR is Groundskeeper Willie.
Willie hears ya, Willie don't care. P.S: Oh, and for those fans saying Dale Earnhardt would've done the same thing in that #3 car? Well one: Dale wouldn't have been thirty-second in points and needing a win to begin with, and two: that doesn't justify it?

What shipping company do you typically use to ship your snakes? I'm looking to ship 3 adult & 1 subadult cornsnake from (south)California to Florida, and I was also wondering what would be the best way to package them, like would bags or petri dishes be better? I have two males and two females, so would that influence how I should package them? Thanks for any advice you can give!
Hey friend!
I use Reptiles Express as my shipping partner. Redline and Ship Your Reptiles are other popular choices.
The sex of the snakes shouldn't impact how they are packaged, but the size of them definitely does. For anything larger than a yearling, I use snake bags rather than deli cups as they take up less space in a box and offer more cushion. This also prevents snakes from being rattled too much during transport. I put a couple of handfuls of soft bedding into the bags, but some folks prefer to put the snakes in without any bedding and have extra padding around the bags. Either works, just make sure the snakes can move enough to get comfortable in their bags but are padded enough that they won't be jostled if the box is dropped or shaken.
Make sure snakes have had ample time to digest before travel. For adults, don't feed them for at least 5-7 days before they ship out. It's better to skip a meal and arrive a little hungry than risk stress and motion sickness.
Make sure you order your shipping box from the company that you choose to ship with. Many shipping companies will put their own company name on the box, and if there's an issue during shipping FedEx might reach out to them, so you definitely want the shipping partner to be able to find your information easily if they need to contact you. Choose a box that will just fit all of your snakes and no larger. The bigger the box, the more padding and temperature regulation you'll need and the more it'll cost to ship. You'll probably need something like a 12x9x6 box, or thereabouts, depending on the size of the adults being shipped.
Most importantly this time of year, especially considering your shipping origin and destination, is temperature control. Do not ship unless temperatures are above 40 degrees and below 90 along your entire shipping route for the duration of travel. You may need to check with FedEx to determine which routing hub(s) your package would be traveling through, but it's likely either Oakland, CA or Memphis, TN if not both.
Depending on the size of your box, I recommend putting in at least two Phase22 Cryopak cooling packs, once on each side of the box, to maintain a safe internal temperature. These packs won't chill the snakes, but will absorb heat and keep the ambient temperature in your box lower than outside. Don't put them in direct contact with the snake bags, though, just to be safe.
One other thing is that you don't need to poke holes in the box for air, but don't tape up the corners when you're assembling your box. Reptiles don't use as much oxygen as mammals, so those corner gaps are enough to allow for gas exchange. Holes in the side reduce the structural integrity of the box and are just ways for pests and heat to get in.
I definitely recommend checking out the resources provided by each shipping company to see how exactly to pack up your snakes and give them the best and easiest possible trip. These companies want very much for you to succeed and they have guides and videos to walk you through every step of the process.
I wish you a smooth and stress-free experience!

What do you think about shipping reptiles in mail?
You also seem very cool, thank you for being here, answering and rating things!
The only shipping discourse allowed on this blog!
Shipping reptiles in the mail is usually safe for the reptile, as long as it's done appropriately.
The first step is to go through the appropriate mail carrier. In the US, that's FedEx Ship Your Reptiles. Standard practice is to pack the reptile securely, putting them inside a deli cup or travel bag and then packing them inside a box insulated with a buffer like newspaper or egg cartons.
Tumblr media
Weather should be a major concern when shipping reptiles! It's possible to safely ship reptiles year-round - I'd know, I've done it - but proper precautions are a must! Most people won't ship when temperatures are below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature is between 40-60 degrees, most reptiles will appreciate being packed with a heat pack. 70-80 degrees is that sweet spot for shipping where heat and cold packs aren't needed for most species. Above 90, most people will include a cold pack. Again, if you're in the US, Ship Your Reptiles has got you covered, and you can find the supplies and heat/cold packs here. Reptiles should never be shipped if there's severe weather risks that might lead to them getting stuck in transit, like snow storms.
The primary concern when shipping a reptile should, at all times, be the safety of the animal. If I'm buying or selling a reptile and the other person wants to ship the snake without making sure the weather is appropriate or proper precautions are being taken, that's grounds for me to call off the transaction.
All reptiles should be shipped through overnight mail to minimize time in transit, and my preference is to ship reptiles to FedEx hubs. That way, they're in a safe, climate-controlled building, and their new owner can pick them up directly there. I always check on shipped reptiles in the car at the hub once they arrive to make sure they had a safe trip - that allows you to let the other person know if there was a problem ASAP.
When shipping a reptile, it's always important to make sure the box is labeled appropriately. This is why getting your supplies directly through the reptile-safe mail carrier is always a good idea! You'll want to make sure the box says there's a live harmless reptile inside. In the US, it's also a law to label the box with what reptile is inside with the animal's scientific name and the number of animals in the package - for example, if I was shipping a single male ball python, I'd label the box "1.0 Python regius."
Shipping reptiles in the mail can be a little daunting the first time around, but as long as all proper precautions are taken, the vast majority of the time there's no problem at all and the reptiles get to their new home safely! It's just very important to make sure you don't skimp on doing things the right way.

Shipping Scorpions Masterclass
I packed up a large order today and I thought it would be a good opportunity to show my method for shipping scorpions. This is part one of a two part post. This specific breakdown is just going to be about scorpions, but the principles can be applied to multiple kinds of inverts, and this exact method can also be used for most spiders and tarantulas, as well as certain kinds of beetles.
Part Two Here
First thing we have to do is understand some basics about heat transfer. Heat transfer in a box primarily occurs through direct contact (conduction), so the goal is to add as much insulation between the areas of conduction as possible. Dry air is a great insulator, because there is less mass close together in air so less chance for direct atom to atom heat transfer. Paper also makes a good insulator, partially because it has a low heat transfer ability and partially because it can be easily crumpled and form lots of dry air pockets. More insulation is layered on the bottom, because the bottom of the box has more direct contact with the surface that it's either going to be gaining or losing heat from (think of it sitting on outside on the frozen ground or on hot pavement). The other main form of heat gain is from the sun, which is a bit harder to deal with. The sun transfers heat through radiation, and an enclosed space sitting in the sun will easily get an inside temperature much hotter than the surrounding air temperature (think of your car). The thing with insulation is it works both ways, although it slows down the heat gain from the surrounding area, it also slows down the release of heat if the outside temperature is cooler than the inside of the box. This is great to insulate from cold outside temperatures, but in hot environments this can cause heat to slowly build up in the box over time, especially over the course of multiple days and exposure to extreme temperatures. This can also create a "greenhouse" effect if you're using a heat pack during shipping and have a completely enclosed Styrofoam wall around the entire box. The heat pack will continue to release heat, but the heat in the box will have no where to go. If using a heat pack and Styrofoam, cutting some holes in the box or leaving the lid of the Styrofoam off will give the heat some chance to escape, while also appreciably protecting the inside from heat loss through wind or through direct contact with the cold ground.
Because of how these factors play together, shipping in heat is much more dangerous than shipping in the cold. Invertebrates also tend to die quicker in extreme heat, while they can get fairly cold for short amounts of time and just have a slower metabolism for that time. Generally, you should avoid shipping above 90F or below freezing. The most dangerous time is when the box is on the truck at the destination city and being driven around before being delivered, as most of those truck are not temperature controlled, and they would be essentially sitting outside for a number of hours. If temperatures are beyond these limits and the shipping cannot wait, please consider shipping hub to hub (the hold for pickup options) so that the box is kept inside in the destination city. Using heat and cold packs is up to seller discretion, typically I would recommend to try to keep the inside of the box as close to 70F as possible, and determine if the temperatures are extreme enough that a heat or cold pack is the only reliable way to achieve that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This specific paper pictured here is packing insulation I got from Fedex, but crumpled newspaper, paper towels, or any other kind of paper that can form sturdy insulation with a lot of air gaps can be used. Personally I don't use loose packing material like packing peanuts, and I generally don't use Styrofoam at all, but several other sellers use Styrofoam to reinforce the box and for it's better insulation properties.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For larger scorpions, we line a deli cup with paper. It consists of a folded square of paper towel at the bottom, and a loose ring of folded paper towel around the edge. This provides a space for them to sit in while cushioning their surroundings in case the box is handled roughly. Depending on the species, they may or may not need the paper towel to be sprayed. Arid species shouldn't need to be sprayed at all, while everything else might need a light misting. Regardless, the paper towel should never be saturated. If condensation immediately forms on the sides of the cup or the paper towel is dripping wet, wring it out until its just moist to the touch. Too much humidity makes the air a poor insulator.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The cup is finished off with another square of paper. Ventilation holes should be added, scorpions have very low metabolic requirements and can survive quite a while without fresh air, but it's still better to add them. There should be just enough to provide some air exchange but not so much that it would dry out the inside of the cup too quickly. Some tape on the edge prevents the cup from accidentally opening during shipping, or from the scorpion from pushing the lid open. Only a light amount of tape is needed, too much tape can be a pain to remove and risks sticking to the animal if a lot of it is left on the lid and sides. I use this deli cup method for almost all of the scorpions I ship. For very large scorpions, a large deli cup or a small food storage container can work under the same principles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How the scorpions are packing into the larger shipping box is dependent on what or how much you're shipping. If it was just a handful of larger containers, they can be safely packed directly into the box. Because I am also shipping several smaller scorplings, I'm using a double containment method to keep the smaller containers from shifting around. We do this by forming a larger version of the deli cup using a food storage container. For small scorplings, I use paint containers. Setting up and packing the smaller scorplings will be discussed in part two.
