Prompt 262
Pondering Ghosts are Dragons, and just rotating each design in my head I have for them. That is the ghosts we see in the show more than just once or twice lol. Just pondering each of them and potential types and descriptions and how the people of Amity see them, as they’re used to the dragons around, vs say someone from Outside, crossover or no, who are Not used to the maybe slightly eldritch undeath interdimensional dragons around everywhere.
That is not normal for other people.
To the Amity Parkers? Boxy is simply a chonky dragon with small boxy wings and covered in blue scales. To people just coming into the city, it’s like seeing a giant komodo dragon when you’re just walking home- not something you exactly want to see and something that is dangerous.
Kitty’s and Johnny’s weekly relationship tussle? Par for the course really. But to visitors? Two giant wyverns tearing into each other, shimmering greens that could be scales, could be tendrils, and shadows lengthening and thrashing like a living beast all its own.
And this is just the small dragonlings, not even beginning with larger ones like Pandora and Fright Knight, chill as they may be.
Outsiders don’t understand that they’re more than just animals. Amity is used to this, but people who have no clue what’s going on? They don’t.
They call the police, the heroes, the government, for help, for answers. And that? That the GIW can use.

Damian stiffens, eyeing Phantom warily. ‘Prince?’
Phantom gets a foot underneath himself and pushes himself upright, and then into the air. “Fright Knight,” he says.
“My prince,” says the ghost possessing Red Robin. “We feared you’d passed on! It’s been months without word, and even our best trackers were unable to locate you!”
Phantom wraps both arms around his chest. Fright Knight watches the movement closely, frowning at the green blood spreading through Phantom’s jumpsuit. “Mm,” hums Phantom. “The hunters got me.”
“They did to you as what they did to the subsapients they’d captured,” Fright Knight says. It’s not a question, and Phantom stays silent. “I see.” His hands tighten around the grip of his sword. “That is an act of war. King Pariah will doubtlessly order me to slay them all, and I must admit it is a relief to know they have brought it on themselves.”
“Do not,” Phantom hisses. “I am not in accord with Pariah Dark. The people of this city are innocent. I am more to blame than them.”
“No!” Fright Knight barks. “You are a child, not even old enough to assume the throne! No matter your responsibilities, you are not to blame for the actions of evildoers!”
“Yet how many child ghosts has Pariah Dark created today?” Phantom asks.
Fright Knight looks away. “My prince, I have no desire to fight you. But you know my duty. I am enthralled. I cannot disobey King Pariah’s orders.” Fright Knight looks to Jason, hogtied, squirming and helpless. “He is my quarry. Leave now, my prince. I will not tell King Pariah I saw you here today.”
Phantom steps between the bats and Fright Knight. His eyes glow a vivid blue, and a rapier of ice forms in his hand. “You know I can’t do that.”
“Then stop me!” Fright Knight lunges.
Phantom parries with a grunt. He glances at Damian from the corner of his eye. “Take Red Hood and go! I’ll hold him off!”
Though his hands are slick with blood and the pain makes tears prick in his eyes, Damian draws his blade. He didn’t become Robin to let an unknown fight his battles for him, and he didn’t become Robin to leave Drake, his brother, for dead. Next to him, Cass raises her fists, batarang in hand. Together, they leap into the fray.
Still sword locked with Phantom, Fright Knight ducks beneath Damian’s swipe. With his free hand, he reaches out to catch Black Bat’s fist, but she deftly twirls around him to land a strong punch to his shoulder, knocking him backwards. He is only barely able to dodge Phantom’s follow up stab.
Fright Knight rapidly slashes at Black Bat. “Don’t let his sword cut you!” Phantom cries. She ducks an overhead swing and nimbly jumps over a low feint.
Damian slinks behind Fright Knight and thrusts an elbow towards his spine. Fright Knight staggers forwards. Black Bat jabs at his throat, and though Tim’s body gasps and wheezes, the Fright Knight is undeterred. He twists inhumanly and strikes Damian in the cheek with a hard backhand.
Phantom leaps in with quick, graceful stabs. The Fright Knight parries them, seemingly without effot. Phantom switches to a wide slash, which the Fright Knight blocks with a forearm, but it was a feint, and Phantom backflips smoothly, coming up with the point of his blade aimed at Red Robin’s throat. Damian’s breath catches, for an instant convinced he is about to see his brother die, but the Fright Knight easily knocks his thrust aside.
“You’ve gotten rusty, my prince,” the Fright Knight says, lashing out with a kick to Phantom’s gut. Phantom goes flying, but he twists in midair to land on his feet.
“I’m a bit out of practice,” Phantom pants.
“Nonetheless, it seems you’ve surrounded yourself with capable allies,” the Fright Knight says. Cass leaps out of the shadows, throwing a batarang. The Fright Knight knocks it away with his sword, but it seems like he’s too slow to block her follow up punch. Before it connects, however, a second, heavily armored arm emerges from within Red Robin’s arm to grab her wrist. Cass’ eyes widen. “Unfortunately, they are no match for me.” He twists her wrist harshly, and Cass screams as it audibly snaps. The Fright Knight then throws her into the slide hard enough to make it collapse. She doesn’t get back up.
Enraged, Damian lunges at the Fright Knight. He easily blocks Damian’s strike with his sword, and then with a twist of his wrist he sends Damian’s blade flying out of his blood slicked hands. With his free hand, he grabs Damian by the throat, and hoists him into the air with strength greather than Red Robin’s body should be capable of. Damian grabs the Fright Knight’s wrist and kicks at Red Robin’s body, but the Fright Knight doesn’t even seem to feel it. Desperately, Damian tries and fails to inhale.
Fright Knight brings his blade up to Damian’s throat. “I apologize, but I must do this.”
“You don’t!” Phantom cries. “He isn’t your target!”
Fright Knight casts a long look at Phantom, then unceremoniously drops Damian. Damian gasps. “You are correct,” he says, turning towards where Jason lays. “It seems I’ve gotten carried away-- ah--“
At the Fright Knight’s stutter, Damian looks at Jason. Cass is there, and Jason is slung over the shoulder of her broken wrist. She pulls out her grapple with her uninjured hand. “Retreat,” she says, and grapples up to the nearest roof. She swiftly disappears into the shadows.
Fright Knight takes a step to follow, but Phantom intercepts him. “Go!” he shouts at Damian. “I’ll catch up!”
Damian grits his teeth. Retreating rankles like nothing else, but Damian is injured and tired, and even if he were at his best the Fright Knight would be a difficult opponent.
“Don’t kill Red Robin,” Damian tells Phantom.
“Of course! What do you take me for?!”
Damian retrieves his blade, turns, and runs.

hi I wanna get into danny phantom but i don't want to watch every single episode do you know which ones i should watch to get a feel for the characters/show personality and dynamics
good question!
I would probably recommend watching most of the first season since a whole lot of recurring characters and ghosts are introduced
but if you really want to condense things, I can tell you which characters are introduced in which episode and you can skip ones you aren't as interested in
season 1
Mystery Meat is the first episode so it's a good place to start since it establishes the premise and main characters, it starts after Danny's already become a halfa tho, his accident is only depicted in the opening theme (and again in a later episode but we'll get to that) The main antagonist is the Lunch Lady Ghost
Parental Bonding, introduces a dragon amulet and, briefly, Dora, who comes back in a later episode, Danny discovers he can overshadow people
One of a Kind, Skulker's first episode! highly recommend
Attack of the Killer Garage Sale, Technus' first episode! any ep with Technus is a delight
Splitting Images, Danny swaps bodies with Sydney Poindexter, I vaguely remember the animation in that scene freaking me out, this one is probably fine to skip
What you Want, Danny discovers new powers and Desiree is introduced, lots of Tucker in this ep
Bitter Reunions, UNSKIPPABLE, this is Vlad's introduction, so it's hugely plot relevant
Prisoners of Love, introduces Aunt Alicia, Walker, and the ghost prison, actually has Danny working together with other ghosts and establishes some worldbuilding for the ghost zone, I wouldn't recommend skipping it
My Brother's Keeper, introduces Spectra, also a PINNACLE Jazz episode, I would consider this unskippable
Shades of Gray, the first Valerie episode! absolutely unskippable, also introduces Cujo
Fanning the Flames, introduces Ember, there's some pretty funny moments
Teacher of the Year, it's got Lancer, it's got Technus, it's got video games, it's got a very very early 2000s depiction of the internet, it's a good time, highly recommend
Fright Night, introduces the Fright Knight, I think this might be the ep where we discover Danny bleeds ectoplasm?
13, introduces Johnny and Kitty, this one is pretty fun, some good Fenton family shenanigans
Public Enemies, Walker returns, Wulf is introduced, this ep establishes Danny's reputation as a public menace
Lucky in Love, Kitty returns, a mostly character driven ep not much action
Maternal Instincts, another Vlad ep, definitely unskippable, it has ongoing plot relevance
Life Lessons, a Valerie ep where she and Phantom have to work together, featuring Skulker and a flour bag baby, highly recommend
The Million Dollar Ghost, another Vlad ep, introduces the Guys in White and various other one off ghost hunters, this ep also foreshadows Reign Storm
Control Freaks, the Freakshow ep!! this is the one where Danny is being controlled, highly recommend
season 2 electric boogaloo
Memory Blank, Desiree returns, this ep actually covers his accident with the portal in more detail, worth watching for that alone
Doctor's Disorders, Spectra returns, all the kids at Casper High get temporary ghost powers, it's pretty fun
Pirate Radio, introduces Youngblood, Ember returns, it's pretty fun
Reign Storm, UNSKIPPABLE, this is the Pariah Dark ep, enough said
Identity Crisis, this is the ep where Danny gets his human and ghost halves split, splitting his personality with them, a lot of fun! also a Technus ep
The Fenton Menace, Youngblood returns, a good Fenton family shenanigans ep
The Ultimate Enemy, ABSOLUTELY UNSKIPPABLE, this is the evil future Danny ep, introducing Clockwork
The Fright Before Christmas, introduces Ghost Writer and the christmas truce, it's also the ep we find out Sam is jewish
Secret Weapons, a Jazz ep, featuring Vlad, it ties up a previous plot point from Reign Storm, has some fun sibling banter
Flirting with Disaster, a Valerie ep, highly recommended for character development between Danny and Val, also features Technus
Micro Management, lots of Dash, it's fun but has no real plot importance other than establishing that Danny's strength in ghost form doesn't actually transfer to his human self
Beauty Marked, introduces Aragon, Dora returns, this is actually a really fun Sam ep, and we get to spend some time in the ghost zone
King Tuck, introduces Hotep Ra and Tucker as Duul Aman, I have a personal love for this ep specifically because it introduces the concept of Tucker being a reincarnated Egyptian Pharaoh, but other than being a good Tucker-centric episode, it's not wholly important and the characters don't return
Masters of All Time, Vlad and Clockwork return, a time travel/alternate future ep were we get to see Vlad's accident and what would happen if he never became a halfa, it's definitely an interesting one character-wise
Kindred Spirits, this ep is... oof, it's the clone episode, Vlad is back, Danielle is introduced, this is definitely unskippable, it's also pretty messed up
Double Cross My Heart, a Sam-centric ep, introduces Gregor, the Guys in White return for this one, other than that it's not especially important
Reality Trip, this is a pretty big one, features the Reality Gauntlet, Freakshow, and the Guys in White, I would not recommend skipping it
season 3
Eye for an Eye, Danny and Vlad have a prank war, this is the ep where Vlad becomes mayor, that's its only real importance
Infinite Realms, introduces Frostbite and the Infi-map, has a lot of portal shenanigans resulting in Vlad and Danny fighting each other throughout different time periods, has some ghost zone worldbuilding
Girls' Night Out, Spectra, Kitty and Ember team up, Danny and Jack are off on a fishing trip so Maddie, Jazz and Sam team up to fight, I don't remember much else
Torrent of Terror, introduces Vortex, I actually forgot so much about this episode, it features Vlad, and Danny temporarily gets weather powers, it makes very little sense
Forever Phantom, introduces Amorpho, a shapeshifting ghost, I don't remember much about this one either, but basically he impersonates Danny and shenanigans ensue
Urban Jungle, the Plant Sam ep, introducing Undergrowth and Danny's ice powers, highly recommend
Livin' Large, the first half of this episode is objectively terrible, but the latter half does feature the Guys in White, and Danny teaming up with some ghosts which I always love, I would say it's skippable tho
Boxed-Up Fury, introduces Pandora and heavily features the Box Ghost, this one is pretty fun, there's some good jokes and Pandora's design is rad, I recommend it
Frightmare, introduces Nocturne, arguably one of the coolest villains, his design is excellent and the episode is definitely worth watching
Claw of the Wild, Wulf returns, set during a school camping trip, I remember very little about this ep
De-Stabilised, Danielle returns, a lot of Valerie in this ep, I would consider this unskippable
Phantom Planet, uuugghhhhhh I mean you CAN watch this if you REALLY want to know how the series ends but honestly? the only interesting part is the introduction of ectoranium, and the fact that Jack gets to beat the snot out of Vlad, that's it, the rest is awful
if anyone else has any episode recommendations or remembers something important in an ep that I forgot to mention, feel free to add on!
I hope this helps ~

A Mother Fury
Day three Ectoberhaunt: Mutant vs Cryptid
AO3
“Look, I’m telling you, no way she’s real,” Danny said, making another mark on the map. He had tried, unsuccessfully, to make a normal map of the ghost zone the way a human might. With measurements and cartography, but after discovering the infini-map and exactly why every other map he’d made was always wrong, he’d gone to Clockwork for help.
He was given a rough crash course into ghost mapping and its difficulties and was now tasked with trying to map an unfamiliar area for practice. It was more difficult than he had hoped.
“Why not?” Sam asked, she and Tucker were riding spectre-scooters beside him, carrying extra tools and supplies in case they needed them and a homing medalian in case they got horribly lost and needed to get back home. It was kind of the ghost equivalent of a compass, with Clockwork’s lair as it’s true north.
Tucker took Danny’s side in the argument. “Because it doesn’t make sense! The Mother of Fury? What would she even be? Some kind of Dragon Queen? We’ve already met the Dragon Queen.”
“That’s not what Sam said, Tucker. She’s talking about the Mother of the Furies. Like from Greek myth. And the reason she doesn’t exist,” he looked up from his map to glare at Sam, “is because there’s only three and they’re sisters. The ‘Mother’ is the ghost equivalent of the Lochness monster”
Sam rolled her eyes. “There’s only three sisters in the Oresteia trilogy. The original myth didn’t number them and there’s plenty of art with four of them. Besides, the truth behind Pandora got confused right?”
“Where did you even hear about her?” Tucker asked.
With a huff, Sam crossed her arms. “I heard it from my girls and ghouls club during poetry night.”
“Don’t recite the poem-“
“I’ll recite the poem!”
Danny chuckled, he didn’t mind listening to Sam’s poetry recital skills. She really went all out, pulling her theatre and speech making experience to good use. And also her voice was pleasant to listen to in general. Besides, Tucker getting annoyed was almost a bonus.
 "Oh Mother of Fury
I ask for a boon
So that I may curry
A favor, this tune
Is a vow, a promise I make
So if I shall falter and vengeance you take
I’ll have no regrets in life or in death
I’ll sing you this song with my final breath
My children I care for watch over them please
My sisters and brothers look after with ease
My mother and father keep sight of them too
Take care of them all and I swear this to you
I’ll keep every Oath, fulfill every Vow
That’s what I promise and this poem is how"
“… so a prayer for protection?” Tucker asked, having listened intently.
“Apparently if you invoke it, it's the next best thing to a Stygian frailty. You can never break a vow or promise again or the Mother of the Furies and her children will hunt you down.”
"Idk Sam, I'm with Danny. No way that's real. It's probably just one of those things that makes ghosts feel safer." Tucker shook his head. "I'm not about to believe a weird poem about something's existence."
Sam threw her notebook at him. "The Fright Knight had a weird poem! And the Ancients exist! We met a ghost who can control time, how is the Mother of Vengeance less probable!?"
Danny slowed down, there was something in the distance that didn’t quite fit. It looked off kilter but in a different way from the usual off kilter descriptions of the Zone. He marked it on the map and saw it bleed into the paper, disappearing as quickly as he’d drawn it on.
That wasn’t a good sign.
Tucker was still talking. “Well yeah but we know the Ancients are real because they sealed Pariah Dark and we know he’s real because he attacked Amity Park and has a giant castle smack dab in the middle of the Zone-“
“Guys,” Danny interrupted, “do you see that?”
Sam and Tucker both finally looked up, away from their ongoing argument.
Sam gasped, “It’s a bird cage.”
“A really big bird cage.” Tucker agreed.
There was a song, Danny heard, that rang softly in his ears. It built in volume and strength the closer they got until Danny could hear it clearly.
It was a call for help.
They had to go in.
He flew closer. “Wait, Danny!” Sam grabbed his arm and pulled him back. “It could be a siren trap.”
“What?” Danny whipped his head back, “that doesn’t matter, whoever is in there needs help.”
Tucker shook his head, “nah man, she’s right. Could be one of those Venus flytrap situations that tries to lure you in with your obsession.”
“Remember the garden?” Sam said and Danny had to concede the point. The garden had been a paradise of mortal realm plants and the trio was excited to explore the implications behind their existence there.
Clockwork had to drag them out.
“Okay, this time we’ll be cautious.” Danny looked up at the cage again, it was easier to see the details from this close. The bars were a soft, tarnished looking silver that was almost white. They twisted around each other weaving in and out and forming what Danny realized was almost a web-like design. He couldn’t see anything beyond the bars.
“Here’s the plan,” Sam said grabbing the Fenton Fisher from the side car of her speeder. “Danny goes in his ghost form so whoever or whatever set the trap doesn’t get suspicious. If anything, and I mean anything Danny, goes wrong? You turn human and we drag you out with the Fenton fisher.”
He looked dubiously at the length of ecto-enhanced fishing line before sighing and lifting his arms so she could tie it around his waist. “I’ll be right out, you both stay here.”
“Yeah yeah,” Tucker said slapping a tracker onto Danny’s hazmat suit. “Just don’t die again okay?”
“Sure Tuck.”
Once the preparations were made Danny went towards the singing, letting it draw him towards what looked like an entrance. Except, there was a lock on it.
A very large one.
He gave it a tug, but it didn’t so much budge. Looking around for anything that might try to ambush him first, or any smaller ghosts that might be affected, he let his power go a little, building it up in his hands just like Pandora taught him to. Once he was confident he grabbed the lock to pull it open, but instead it grabbed hold of his energy and drew it out of him, like a fish caught on a hook. Danny couldn’t pull his hands away so the only thing he could do was transform, giving himself away.
The pulling stopped, but nothing else happened. No loud sirens declaring him like Walker’s prison might, no powerful ghosts lurking in the shadows.
He let out a sigh of relief. The lock went easily under his hands in this form and Danny had to chuckle at how nice it was that the Ghost Zone seemed to be really inadequately prepared for Halfas like him.
The door creaked when it opened. And it only opened a couple of inches before it just wouldn’t budge anymore. Danny gave up and transformed back so he could manipulate his form enough to slip through.
Inside was a castle.
No.
Inside was a very specific castle. Pariah’s keep as Danny had literally never seen it. The brick was a dusty softer red, and while the plants and weeds had grown and taken over, they looked as if they’d been tended to, at least minimally. And there was a twisting branch of Thistely that settled into the shape of a birds nest.
Danny was starting to get idea that a bird might be in here.
A sword was at his neck.
“Halt, who dares tread into the domain of stories and songs?” A woman’s voice said, deep and melodic. It didn’t sound anything like the song that had lead him here.
He raised his hands in the more or less universal sign of surrender and said “sorry, didn’t mean to barge in ma’am. I just wanted to make sure no one was trapped in here?”
The sword lowered. “Trapped?” She asked, bemused.
Danny chanced turning around to get a look at his accosted. She was one of the prettier ghosts he’d seen. Her colors were all washed out, leaving soft pastels in place. Her arms though, looked like they were covered in swan feathers, at least the parts of her arms he could see. The cape clasped high on her neck looked like it might have been made from the very same feathers, except woven delicately into cloth.
She was also clearly dangerous, the power behind her eyes nothing to take lightly. And her fingers sharpened into long black claws that Danny had no doubt carved through their fair share of ghost flesh.
“Yes ma’am. It’s a bird cage so-“ he was just going to explain his reasoning, having come to the conclusion that this was likely the other ghost’s lair and he was trespassing, when her expression shut off entirely.
“This is the King’s Keep.” She said, her voice dangerously steady.
Danny nodded, “yeah it uh, looks just like Pariah’s-“
“Pariah Dark?” The woman asked, “He built a mimicry of my brother’s castle?”
Her expression showed severe distaste, and while Danny couldn’t exactly blame her, it didn’t help his danger sense that she seemed to know the former king personally.
“Your Brother?” Danny asked, trying to subtly look around. He couldn’t see any pastel bird men, but it didn’t hurt to keep an eye out. “Is this his lair?”
“As long as he is King his keep is here,” she answered. Oh great, yet another weird king in some back water place.
“King of what? The feather lands?” Danny mumbled under his breath.
The sword returned to under his chin and he froze. He had to stop accidentally insulting people.
“King of Ghosts little Half-Dead. It would do you well not to mock him.”
But Danny’s fear parted to make way for confusion. With a sword at his neck Danny said, “But that’s Pariah Dark?”
The woman’s eyes flashed a deep purple and she struck, Danny’s training with Pandora and Clockwork’s teachings were the only thing that allowed him to keep his head.
He shot an ectoblast but the woman easily caught it on the edge of her sword, twisting around and sending it right back at him. It was probably the most elegant way Danny had ever been attacked and he had to force himself to move, to not get distracted as he ducked and weaved, dodging each of her attacks.
“Why are you attacking me? Do you hate Pariah that much??” He dodged what looked like a handful of feathers, sharpened on every edge. This lady was mad, question was why.
“My brother would not lose to that lout. How dare you imply-“
“Wait I’m not implying anything! You’re brother would probably win for sure,” he said, and then under his breath, “especially if he’s anything like you.”
The attacks stilled. “What are you saying?”
Danny didn’t let down his guard, but he didn’t attack either. She looked wary, a trace of uncertainty and tension underneath her fierce exterior. “All I know,” he said, carefully, “is that Pariah Dark was called the King of Ghosts and that he was sealed into an eternal sleep in a sarcophagus in Pariah’s Keep. I don’t know who was king before that, but he’s been asleep for at least a few thousand years.”
Her brow twitched. “But that… that isn’t right.”
She flickered, and Danny froze, that wasn’t a good sign. That was an Obsession based break down sign. “Are you going to be okay?” he asked.
“I just saw him…” her eyes flashed. “You said this was a bird cage.”
He nodded.
Her gaze darkened. “I see. Someone thought to play with me. A mistake. Stay here, I will return.”
Danny didn’t even have the chance to argue before she was folding into herself, and flew off as a bird.
He followed.
Honestly she should have expected that, what teenager listens to someone they just met? She was fast though, and it was hard to keep up as she flew higher and higher into what looked like the endless open abyss of the Ghost Zone.
The bird twisted and shooting from the feathers was once more the woman’s more human form took shape as she kept flying her hand reaching in front of her. She grabbed empty nothing, except- it clearly was something because what was once a clear view of the Ghost Zone crumbled like fabric and was shredded into pieces by sharp claws, revealing the thick bars of the cage.
She growled and Danny took a second to find what she was looking at. It was the top of the cage, the center of the spider’s web with delicately detailed runes etched into each bar.
“Misery Vex,” the woman sneered, “I should have known.”
Danny rubbed awkwardly at the back of his neck. This looked above his pay grade. Then again, after beating Pariah Dark and fighting half the Ancients there wasn’t much that qualified really. Wait. Wasnt Misery Vex am Ancient? Did they make a habit of trapping random ghosts in complicated ways?
The woman was pacing angrily, at least, the ghostly equivalent of pacing. “There’s no way to know how long I’ve been here, anything could have happened to him,” she muttered, “especially if that joke Pariah was made king at some point. Was this because of our fight? No, it couldn’t have been.”
“Ma’am?” He said, gently tapping her on the shoulder to get her attention. Her eyes were a bright lilac, and Danny saw that she was in some type of mania. What even was her obsession?
“Oh, right. I’ll get us out of here, just step back.”
“Wait I can-“ once again not waiting for an answer, she made her move. Grabbing two of the thicker and more intricate bars in her hands she pulled them apart with what looked like impressive physical strength. But even when she let go, the force did not mitigate. Instead they acted as if gravity itself were pulling them apart.
Danny watched amazed as the very same force worked its way over the entire cage and it ripped itself apart into scrap metal, the figment of the castle inside fading away along with the enticing sirens song.
“Wow.”
The woman smiled. “Thank you for showing me the truth. It may have been eons again before I realized. She had trapped me in a mimicry, a nasty curse. Be sure not to befell it yourself.”
“Right, will do. Uh…” he hesitated but the woman didn’t seem to have any frustration or anger for him, only for her absent captor and the time she must have missed. “Can I get your name?”
She looked surprised at that. “A bold request. But I suppose I owe you something. I am Erinyen, though you may call me Erin. Call upon me shall you need a promise kept or vengeance taken.”
And then she flew away.
Danny nodded, he helped. He did what he needed to and he didn’t even need to do most of the work.
He turned to tell his friends the good news only to see two equally gobsmacked expressions.
“What?” he said, a little defensively.
Sam recovered first. “You found her!”
“Found her?”
“The Mother of the Furies!” Tucker said, waving a pdf, “what the hell dude! I thought you were on my side!”
“I was!” Danny defended. How was he supposed to know?

oh godDAMMIT I'm still thinking about that BBC Merlin/Danny Phantom crossover fic idea, where Lancelot crosses through the Veil and ends up in the Ghost Zone. And since ghost portals also have a tendency to cause temporal displacement, various ghost shenanigans eventually lead him to 21st-century Amity Park. It has been centuries since his departure, and he must now reconcile the fact that everyone he loves has been dead for over 1600 years.
He ends up joining Team Phantom, and becomes their collective older-brother/dad figure/the only responsible adult in all of Amity Park, and pretty much adopts Danny, Sam, and Tucker. He splits his time between helping them fight ghosts, trying to find a way back to his own time, and figuring out what happened to Camelot after he left.
But as he helps Danny and company, he realizes their issues are a lot more connected than he thought. The Fright Knight's sword bears an uncanny resemblance to Excalibur. The ghost called Wulf seemed to recognize him, but lacked the communicative abilities to explain why. Tucker, as it turns out, is a distant descendant of Arthur and Gwen's child. The ghost princess Dorothea has tapestries of Gwen and Merlin in her castle. The power emanating from Pariah Dark's enchanted ring and crown feel unnervingly similar to Merlin's magic, but corrupted. Something bad happened to Merlin, to Gwen, to Camelot, and it seems his best chance at figuring out what is to help Danny fight ghosts.
So many of Lancelot's old Camelot friends have either been reincarnated as Danny's classmates, or have become ghosts, and he must track them all down if he hopes to piece together how Camelot fell - and of course, where Merlin has been for the last 1600 years.
Naturally, Lancelot becomes a beloved member of Team Phantom. Sam smuggles him into an abandoned, unused guest room in her oversized mansion, and having him around finally makes being at home almost bearable, what with her awful parents; Tucker teaches Lancelot about technology, and is pleased to have someone who is so eager to learn from and pay attention to him; and Danny...well, Lancelot helps Danny in all the ways he was never able to help Merlin. The trauma of pain, of keeping a dangerous secret, of saving people without anyone ever knowing, of consistently putting your life on the line for people who hate you for existing, of your own loved ones unknowingly despising you for something you didn't choose and can't control. Lancelot does everything he can to help Danny cope with that. He may have failed Merlin - a fact that becomes increasingly clear the more he learns about the fall of Camelot - but he can only hope he won't fail Danny too.
Lancelot sees a lot of Merlin in Danny. He sees a lot of his old friends in this new ghost-hunting trio he's adopted. And while they could never replace the life in Camelot he had loved and lost...well, thanks to them, maybe living in Amity Park 1600 years into the future won't be so bad after all.

Ghosts are creatures of habits and bonds - if something happens to render their habits impossible, and severs their bonds, then they break. Sometimes, they go from complex people to feral beasts - others, their sole goal becomes to cause others to hurt as they were hurt.
In the Ghost Zone, the most common and tragic example of a ghost breaking is Pariah Dark - when one of the Ancients destroyed his wife and children, he began to target other families - he’d include them of improper grieving, and force the father-figure to watch as he hurt them just as he had been hurt.
The worst example of a ghost breaking, however, was known to very few - only the ones who had been involved in the creation of halfa-hybrid knew about him. His rampage had been averted and now he sat, contained, on a small shelf in a dark room.
And as the reasons he had broken in the first place were averted one by one, he gained a bit more control, a bit more realization of what, exactly, he had done.
Strange
Danny sputtered, “I - I just - I didn’t think you had any hobbies.”
Clockwork raised an eyebrow, and placed the half-sewn shirt on the desk in front of him - he crossed his arms and looked a bit offended. “Of course I have hobbies, Daniel - why is it so strange that I do something besides monitor the timestream all day? You sound like the Observants.”
Danny winced, and held up his hands in surrender - Clockwork still frowned at him. “I just thought you’d be more into, like, bonsai trees or something - not making clothes, especially since you only ever wear the one thing.”
Buried
“If we find a secret city buried under here, I’m leaving,” Tucker announced, which was the most valid thing he’d said since they entered Amity Park’s horror-movie-esque sewers.
“What if it’s Eldorado?” Sam said, which was more valid - Danny nodded along. “Are you really going to run away from the city of gold just because it’s a bit creepy?”
“If we’ve ended up in Mexico, then I’m leaving faster,” Tucker said, “every time we find a spooky secret teleport I have to do something dumb.”
That was also fair, but Danny thought for a second - “Wouldn’t it be more likely that we find Atlantis or something?”
Diner
“What can I get for you, sugar?” The ghost asked, and Danny did his best to force a smile - it still came out strained, and he could see the pity on the ghost’s face.
“Actually, I wanted to talk to one of your employees - she’s a friend of mine, and newly... new.”
The ghost sighed, “follow me,” she led him back to the kitchen, and Danny saw them - all of them. Every single employee of the Nasty Burger, focused on the work at hand - with Valerie near the back, flipping burgers like it was a normal day at work.
It was a bit comforting to see that, at least, none of them had suffered when the vat of sauce overheated.
Heat
Jack plugged in the heated blanket, turned on the space heater, and gave a final check that Danny was securely wrapped up in a multitude of quilts. When he’d checked on his sleeping son, he’d been as cold as the dead - except, of course, he was very much alive.
Hopefully the extra heat would help him. When he woke up, Jack would bring him a nice hot drink and some soup.
Let it never be said that Jack Fenton didn’t have his family’s best interest at heart, after all! Danny would be so much more comfortable in his nice warm bed, and he’d surely have an excellent sleep - maybe even dream about hunting ghosts with his old man!
Family
“He is the exact opposite of the kind of ghosts you should be focusing on,” Fright Knight said, “your subjects will be angry.”
“Let them be angry,” Pariah Dark said, and lowered the bow he’d been practicing with, “Clockwork is my brother - I am not just handing him over to the Observants just because he has some weird powers.”
“You’re supposed to work in cooperation with the Observants,” Fright Knight sighed, “antagonizing them with laws like this will only build animosity between our factions.”
“Good,” Pariah said, “Write it into law - if any ghost inflicts physical damage to another’s blood relative or significant other, then the family of the affected ghost is allowed to retaliate tenfold. The next time someone lays a hand on my brother I’ll make them wish they’d never formed.”
Free Day (aka pick your own prompt, and I picked Grief!)
“You’re not the only one who’s lost everything,” Clockwork said. “I lost my brother, my friends, any family I had - I do understand, I promise. But this isn’t the way to deal with it, Daniel.”
Dan laughed in the face of the Master of Time, the Observants’ little pet meddler, their puppet on a string. “That’s cute, did they tell you to say it?”
“The Observants don’t know I’m here,” Clockwork said, voice slow and gentle, “this is just a conversation between two people who are still grieving.”

I can’t stop thinking about how amazing Danny Phantom S3 would have been if
Steve Marmel retained creative control over the characters and overarching story
We got to see 2 hour-long specials (3? Maybe 3?) each one dedicated to building characters and showing Sam, Danny, and Tucker as they go on their summer road trip together. Could have been used to get some slight ghost-fighting action but also give time for the characters to grow. Danny grappling with his identity. Tucker learning a valuable lesson, maybe about growing up and retaining a sense of identity. Sam trying to explore her feelings for Danny. Maybe after going to her goth festival in the desert she has a conversation about death and it makes her realize her best friend is half-dead and it’s her fault. Danny could think about his future: does he have one? Will he ever get to explore it? What about the IMs he and Val have been sending nonstop? The “I wish you were here”s and the “I miss you”s? There may come a day when Danny doesn’t want to be Phantom anymore. But will the day ever come when the world doesn’t need him to be? We could have gotten that.
Clockwork wasn’t able to contain Dark Phantom. Or maybe he realized he shouldn’t
Pariah Dark returned. Maybe Vlad struck a deal—maybe we could finally see what the deal he struck with Fright Knight was.
Junior prom. We could have gotten junior prom.
Val discovered Danny’s superhero identity and it ruined everything. Hell, I’d need a whole season devoted to her handling this news. He cost her her reputation. Her dad’s job. Her livelihood. Her home. Her security. Her friends. He destroyed everything. He even had the audacity to befriend her, to like her, to share his secrets with her...he’d been manipulating her this whole time, just to save his own ass. Not anymore. His time was up.
We explored Dash’s (closeted?) sexuality
Jazz’s lies grow bigger and more dangerous as she tries to keep her brother’s identity from their parents
The Guys in White were commissioned for some unfinished business.
Dani was actually important
But no. Never happened.
good thing we have fics, eh?
Thanksgiving break is gonna be fun.

The Blizzard Awakens.
(( Warning? Mention of ectoplasm and death. Lots of fighting. Also Danny as always in my fics is 22! ))
Misha nudged his mom hard as he sobbed and yelled "Momma get up!! Please get up!!" He begged. CW was on the ground passed out. Some ectoplasm leaked onto the ground forming a puddle under his head. CW had been knocked out. Tried as hard as he could, Misha couldn't wake his mother up. He was a bit relieved as he could hear his mother grumble a bit. Good, still alive but if CW didn't get up soon , well they wouldn't be alive for long. Mishas baby sister was curled up near CWs chest whimpering softly. Misha nuzzled her "Shhhh its ok Raja... sleep now." He said worried.
It had happened too fast. Pariah Dark had just busted through the tower doors and tried to murder their mom. CW used his time powers to stop them but Pariah had one of CWs medallions making his power useless. Dan had lunged at him to fight and for a good time he held his ground and nearly had Pariah subdued but suddenly, the Fright Knight had come to protect his king and drove Dan out. Both fought outside as Pariah stalked CW within the tower.
CW had taken his kids to hide but was found. He did his best but having to protect his kids in the process was difficult. He didn't see the blow coming. His head hit the tower wall with a sickening crack. Misha and Kaen, who wad holding his baby sister, watched in horror as their mom fell unconscious to the floor. Kaen had handed Raja to Misha and outta pure rage and hate, he had lunged himself onto Pariah using his fire and claws to attack him as Misha went over to try and wake up their mom.
Kaen landed one good scratch on Pariahs arm before he was lifted into the air by his hair. He screamed and growled before looking at Pariah right in the eyes and... felt an immense fear. Fear like never before invaded his body. There was no kindness or mercy in Pariahs eyes, just death and destruction. He squirmed and whimpered in Pariahs hold and screamed as Pariahs hand gripped his throat.
"You insignificant brat! How dare you lay your filthy hands on your ruler?! I'll make sure you pay this offence with your life!"
He said squeezing Kaens throat.
Kaen clawed at the hand, he even tried biting it but alas Pariah was VERY strong. Kaen squeaked out calling out for help.
Misha looked over and gasped.
"No please!! Let him go! Don't hurt him!" He yelled as he ran over to him.
Kaen teared up and cried. He looked at his brother in fear and called out to him as he chocked.
"Mish... mishaaaa!, h-h-h a..h-alp..... pwease!!" He begged.
Misha whined "LET HIM GO!" he called out as he tried to punch Pariahs stomach. Pariah Dark just kicked him away and scoffed.
"Insufferable brat! Once I'm done with your runt brother I'll go after you and your sister as well! The time master will pay for having children with some fool and not your king! I do not raise peasant children" he said disgusted.
Kaen hissed a bit and coughed.
"...mo..mom... ack... mom... would... would never...NEVER... have kids with you.... ur ... uhk... ah ... ugly..." he managed to say.
Pariah growled and raised his hand to strike Kaen but suddenly he was hit with snow right on the face. He hissed and dropped the cub as he brought his hands to his face to clean it off. Ugh he HATED the cold.
Kaen dropped to the ground and coughed. Misha threw more snow at Pariah Darks face as he grabbed his brother and ran to his mother screaming.
"MOM PLEASE WAKE UP!!" He begged.
Kaen curled up and shivered very afraid. He curled up and nuzzled his mom.
"Mom's out cold Misha..." he whispered.
Misha whimpered and soon shiverd as well as they heard Pariah Darks thundering steps come closer and closer.
Kaen hid with his sister under CWs cloak shivering.
Misha stood his ground as Pariahs Dark looked down at him with his murderous glowing green eye. Misha trembled in fear as the dark king pulled out his sword and raised it over him.
"Pitiful child... its a shame really, with those green eyes of yours, you could have passed as my son... but I don't take in basterd children!" He said and swung his sword down.
It all moved in slow motion. The sword sliding down twords Misha as he watched it come. But the blow never came.
After hearing those words leave Pariah Darks mouth, Misha had snapped. His eyes glowed a bright light blue as ice shot up from the ground infront of him and froze over the sword much to Pariah Darks astonishment. Misha growled.
"NO! I would never be your son! My eyes are green because of my father! His may be red but the green comes from him! From the hero he is and came from! It comes from my grandma! It comes from Phantom! It comes from being a hero! Not a murderer like you!"
He yelled as he made his ice throw Pariah back. The king stumbled and looked at the child in shock. He was surprised at stretching of this puny child.
Misha stepped forward, his eyes still glowing, hair freezing like icicles on the tip of his bangs and lower tips as well. His breath could be seen as it came out like a frozen blue whisp from his mouth. The room temperature dropped below 0 in a matter of seconds. Pariah was freezing. He looked around as everything froze and , was that wind??!! He looked at the child before him perplexed and altho he would never admit it... afraid.
Misha took another step forward and snarled. Snow swirling around him like a howling storm... a blizzard.
"I am your opposite! You fight for hate, I fight for love! You fight for death, I fight for life! You fight for war, I fight for peace! Your fights will always be lost and I shall always win!! Cuz I'm descendant of the Ghost Zones greatist hero!! His ice runs through my father and was passed down to me! And you!..." He said charging up a strong blast of ice "You... are NOT my father!!!" He yelled as he fired at Pariah.
Paraih screamed as he was hit and started to freeze. First it was his feet, then up to his knees, then his thighs and groin. Then his waist ... and then... it stopped. He breathed heavily as the freezing suddenly stopped. He watched as Misha panted and fell to his knees. He didn't have his full power yet. He waa just a kid!
Pariah began to chuckle, softly at first as he raised his sword and slammed it on the ice breaking it. He soon laughed louder and louder until he was laughing like a maniac, freeing himself from the ice. Misha panted tired as he looked at him get free. He teared up. 'Oh no!'... he thought... 'I failed.' He watched as Pariah was free once again and marched right up to him laughing.
"Ohhh that was a good show kid hahahaha, you got me, you got me real good." He said lifting his sword up over the now teary eyed child. "Too bad words really can't kill now can they? Alas you would be strong soilder if you were to grow up you know? But you refused to bow down before me! ... Now child... where's your king now?!!" He said laughing.
"Right here!" A voice said making Pariah look back in surprise. He didn't see the blow coming. A pearly white glove connected with his face in the form of a punch, with force that sent him tumbling back a few feet. Misha gasped happy as Danny Phantom walked up next to him.
"Grandma!!" He said happily "You came!"
Phantom smiled and hugged the child quickly.
"As soon as could and I'm glad I wasn't too late... Pariahs gonna have hell to pay this time." He said getting serious and growling. "I should have gotten rid of you all those years ago when I was a teen!" He said as he went up to him with his own sword, Plasmius and Dan following close behind. Dan rushed over to his eldest son and then over to his mate. Kicking the Fright Knights ass and getting help had taken longer than he thought and he'd been afraid it was too late. He sighed in relief as he checked his kids and his mate, who was starting to wake up. Dan helped his mate to his feet and they watched as Phantom kicked Pariahs ass.
Pariah tried to fight but with everything he'd gone though now, he was beginning to tire. Phantom landed blow after blow before turning to the others.
"Alright guys , get your hits out now before I put him on ice."
Pariah groaned in pain.
Plasmius hissed and landed a solid punch to Pariahs cheek.
"That! Was for humiliating me all those years ago!" He said before landing another punch on his other cheek.
"And this! Was for coming back to harm my family!" He said moving out of the way as Dan took a running start.
Pariah hardly had any time to recover.
"You fucken asshole! Take this!" He said punching his stomach hard, making him cough up ectoplasm. "This! Is for going after my kids and mate!" He snarled landing another one as well. "That was for being a coward and sending your fucken pathetic excuse of a knight to come at me since you chickened out!" He hissed and spit at him before letting CW come have a go.
Pariah stumbled trying to regain balance but got slammed hard by CWs fist on his chest. CW growled taking back his medallion.
"THAT! Was for stealing from me!" He said and then landed another even harder one making Pariah cough up more ectoplasm. "THAT! Was for daring to insult MY children!" He hissed eyes glowing red. He then proceeced to take a step back. "AND THIS!" he said as he delivered a power kick to his crotch. Pariah wheezed and chocked on his ectoplasm a bit as his legs buckled under him. "THAT!" CW said as he turned to walk away "Was for trying to grope my ass you fucken creep!" He said walking back to his children to care for them. Dan growled.
"Hey! Only I get to touch that!" He huffed.
CW shot him a glare that shut him right up.
"Dan not now! Not infront of the kids!"
Phantom ignored them and grabbed his sword. He looked at the now crownless king before him. His eyes glowed a brightly as he lifted his sword.
"Your rule had come to an end Pariah Dark... this... this is for all those lives you took all those years ago, for the victims, for the innocent, for peace to finally be restored! FOR THE GHOST ZONE!" he said, plunging the sword into Pariahs core.
Pariah let out a short scream as the sword pierced him. His vision blurred before just going completely dark. Phantom pulled out the sword , watching Paraihs body fall and then dissolve into nothing. The dark king had fallen! Long live the ice king!
Phantom sighs in relief and turns to his family.
"Its over... its finally over!!!" He said as he ran to them happy after putting away his sword. Everyone gladly hugged and laughed in relief. They had done it. The dark times were over, may a new age of peace and prosperity begin!
Before leaving, Phantom looked over at Misha and smiled ruffling the young ones hair.
"You did very good today Misha, im very proud of you and in sure your parents are too."
Misha smiled triedly at him and yawned.
"Thanks grandma... but Kaen helped too... he gave Pariah a nasty scratch on his arm." He said nuzzling into his grandmother as he was picked up.
Phantom smiles "Oh I know he did, I thanked him too and he told me that you were the real hero. You've always been a very good boy. " he said as he set Misha on the couch for him to rest. "Misha, how would you like to come to the castle and train to be a guard when you get older? I have no knight and who else better than a brave and loyal ghost like you to be my knight." He asked smiling.
Misha looked up at him, his eyes glowing excited. He purred loudly.
"Ohhh its a deal grandma! I'd love to! But, who will train me?" He asked.
Phantom petted his young grandsons head.
"Mmmm do to Ghost Zone rules, the Fright Knight now serves me, eh figures, ill make sure he's not going behind my back but if all goes well... he'll be your teacher."
Misha smiles but then looks away thinking. Phantom looked at him and raised a brow. "Is everything ok Misha? " he asked a bit worried.
Misha smiles "Everything is fine grandma, its just that, Misha isn't as cool or intimidating as a knight name should be." He said yawning.
Phantom chuckles "Well yes thats true, but you can always pick another name as your knight name you know?" He said nuzzling him.
Misha gasps content smiles "I can??!" He asked.
Phantom chuckles and nods.
Misha smiles and thinks a bit more before turning to his grandmother once more. Hes eyes gleaming with excitement.
"Grandma! I got it! I know what I want my name to be!" He said as he wiggled happily.
Phantom chuckles a bit and smiles.
"That was fast, tell me then, what do you want your knight name to be?" He asked.
Misha smiles up at his grandma excited and said...
"The Blizzard."....

Day 4 - Corruption
AO3
Everyone knew the story of the Fright Knight.
A ghost with a fear-based obsession that wreaked havoc during the Fear War in the name of his liege, the Dark King.
Owner of the sword Soul Shredder and responsible for slaying millions of ghosts during the war.
The Dark King’s most trusted general. Who was sealed alongside him in Pariah’s Keep when he was defeated by the Ancients.
They all had an idea of who Fright Knight was. It didn’t matter if they thought he was real or not. If he had been gifted by his liege a fear inducing sword or not.
The Fright Knight was someone whose story was widely known and accepted.
Except…
It wasn’t the truth.
There were few ghosts in the Infinite Realms that were old enough to have known the truth but not all of them knew the story. No, to know the complete tale, it would be better to seek one ghost in particular.
If they were able to find the Ghost of Choice and get him to talk, he’d tell a different story.
The ghost that would eventually become the Fright Knight had begun as a blob ghost, a Little not unlike the rest. He had been one of many that had formed into being during a violent time, centuries before the Fear War would truly begin...
The Ghost of Choice would fall silent for a moment before continuing.
And with a face that seemed to crack with every word, he’d tell of the innocent and chivalrous ghost that had defended him and other vulnerable Littles against the violence and monsters that seeked to eat them. Even at his own expense.
They had spent years together, a small but determined group of Littles that didn’t want to be afraid anymore. To be preyed upon anymore.
Then, they hadn’t been Littles anymore but fully formed ghosts.
The Ghost of Choice, lost in bittersweet memories, would pause.
It was indeed true when they say the story of the Fright Knight started with a sword, he’d say. A sad, empty, look in his eye.
Because that sword was the beginning of the end for his big brother.
He’d been there and seen it happen, after all.
There were only beginning to circulate rumors about the destruction caused by a powerful ghost that wanted the throne of the Realm. A throne no one was sure existed. A ghost everyone feared regardless.
The valiant ghost that was his brother had been worried. A threat that big couldn’t be a good thing for the rest of the Realm, much less the smaller ghosts like Littles.
A small smile graced the Ghost of Choice’s face as he told about their family. How it had only grown with more Littles, more ghosts and how they were always willing to help the weak and vulnerable.
Was it only a wonder that his brother had a chivalrous obsession?
Then, a ghost dressed in red approached his brother with the Soul Shredder in hand.
At that time, the Soul Shredder wasn’t known as the Fright Knight’s sword. It was mostly known to be a legendary blade forged eons ago in the screaming woods. A blade that had slain thousands and capable of shattering a soul to use it for fuel. And thus, it had gained its name long ago.
The ghost in red told them how he had modified the blade so that it only used ectoplasm as fuel instead of souls. It wouldn’t be able to harm anyone.
How he had heard rumors of a Valiant Knight with his earnest wish to protect and wanted him to wield the blade against the powerful ghost everyone was nervous about.
The Ghost of Choice would tell, with bitterness clear in his eyes, how the ghost in red gave his brother the sword. All of them hopeful it’d be a great aid in their future fight against that powerful ghost.
The sword no longer ate souls after all. It wouldn’t be a problem.
They never saw the ghost in red ever again after that.
The Dark King eventually rose to power and when that happened, a lot of ghosts also rose against him. Among them, their family, with his brother in the lead.
The Ghost of Choice remembered how brutal it was to protect his family and fight against the Dark King’s army. There was no time to think, just trust his instincts and react.
Years of fighting and planning and gruelling work in a war he had been too naive to know at first what was at stake, what they were fighting for. It had been the freedom of the entire Infinite Realms at risk.
It had never been a choice for his brother. And because of that, he didn’t realize what had been happening to him under their notice.
Until it was irreversible.
Soul Shredder was his brother's sword and somehow it was loyal to him. It was an extension of his brother.
The issue was how it didn’t use ectoplasm for its fuel, it used its victims' fears.
The modifications the ghost in red had done were clumsy. He hadn’t understood the blade or how its creator had thought so it became a Blight artefact. A blade that ate, consumed and tainted its wielder without a thought.
And the Soul Shredder thrived in fear. It ate the ghost and sucked them dry of their fear to the point they faded.
So his brother began to seek to instill fear in their enemies without conscious thought.
Instead of kindness and looking for the injured on the battlefield to bring back home, he went out of his way to get into fights and recklessly tried to make their enemies fear him.
But it wasn’t enough.
You see, The Dark King’s army weren’t truly ghosts but Vassals. Ghosts with limited autonomy and an extension of the ghost that created them. So they didn’t fear his brother the way he wanted them to. The way his thoughts were beginning to twist and tangle towards that as well.
He had gotten into fights with his brother then, because he kept scaring their allies and purposefully making them fear him. His brother never saw it. He never listened.
It wasn’t enough.
At some point, he had lost track of his brother for a couple of days. Worried sick he asked everyone if they had seen him.
He was met with scorn, as none liked his brother anymore, and pity, because he was still loyal to his brother. Overall, no one had seen him.
The Ghost of Choice tells how he had felt his brother make a choice at that time but hadn't realized it for what it was until much recently.
When he saw his brother again. It had been at home.
Where he saw the slain remains of the cores of everyone under their protection, their family and the Fright Knight upon them.
It was only because of the sword that he recognized his brother as he had never seen the black armor he will don from that moment onwards.
He still doesn’t know how he survived that encounter but one thing was clear...
He had lost his brother to the sword. Twisted to the point, he was no longer a true knight.
As the Fright Knight slayed all his former allies in the name of the Dark King time and time again, he joined a group of survivors to try to end the Dark King’s tyranny.
It took a long time to obtain victory, during which he couldn’t even gaze at the Fright Knight in combat. And regardless of the countless times he tried to get rid of the sword itself, it had been all futile.
His core would forever bear a scar in the shape of his brother. His family.
The Ghost of Choice had been there when his group finally defeated the Dark King and sealed him.
He was there when the curse he had created made the Fright Knight unable to speak at all as he was sealed as well.
A last ditch effort to preserve his brother’s memory. The Fright Knight would no longer be able to hurt him with his brother’s voice.
To this day, Pariah’s Keep is the resting place of both ghosts. Surrounded by their army of Vassals and several curses to prevent anyone from nearing the place.
And that, is the story of the Fright Knight. The Ghost of Choice would say gravely before leaving unprompted.

Prompt 264
Danny squints at his tiny hands, eyes narrowing as Clockwork hums in the kitchen. Which he wasn’t even aware of having been in LongNow. Maybe it wasn’t. He huffed, voice too squeaky for him to continue complaining. Stupid time accidents.
Which wasn’t even starting on the other figure awkwardly sitting at the table.
He glowered at the Ghost King, who kept glancing at him with an unreadable look in their eyes, then looked back towards where Clockwork was. His scowl deepened over his cup of tea- which wasn’t fair, he wanted coffee but nooo, that’s not healthy for ‘little ghostlings’. Ugh.
Sometimes he wished he was fully ghost so he didn’t have to apparently worry about his living body having to grow back up.

Prompt 243
You know what would be a hilarious friendship? Battinson and Fright Knight.
Scrungly wet cat boy with giant beast of a dude. Who meet because their respective charges wanted to go to the park and they are weak to said charges’ puppy eyes. Or equivalent.
They aren’t entirely sure how they became friends, but it might have something to do with Bruce’s social awkwardness and Frigh- er- Kerian “Rian” Knight- still re-learning how to human. And their wards both climbing on top of the swings and getting stuck. That might have something to do with it as well. Along with them being in the same class.
