“I Need Your Support to Continue My Studies and Build My Future from Gaza🍉🍉

My name is Mahmoud Naeem Abu Hatab, from Gaza.
I am a university student majoring in Software and Databases at Al-Azhar University. Since the beginning of my academic journey, I have been passionate about User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design, as well as website development. These fields inspire me, and I dream of advancing my skills and building a professional career in them.

Unfortunately, during the recent war, I lost my laptop, which was essential for both my studies and work. I was forced to flee my home and relocate to southern Gaza due to the difficult circumstances. Despite my efforts to replace my laptop, the financial situation has made it impossible to afford a new one.

Without a laptop, continuing my studies or seeking job opportunities in programming and design has become extremely challenging. This directly affects my academic progress and future career.

Today, I am reaching out to ask for your support to help me purchase a new laptop. Having a laptop would allow me to resume my studies and work on programming and design projects that are crucial for improving my skills. It is a vital step towards completing my education and pursuing my dream of becoming a professional in programming and UX/UI design.

I know that the situation in Gaza is difficult, but I believe education is the only path to building a better future for myself and my family. If you are able to contribute any amount to help me get a new laptop, it would be a real opportunity for me to get back on track academically and professionally.
I am determined to keep learning and working despite the challenges, but I need your support to achieve this goal. Every donation or act of help, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in my life.
If you’d like to support me, you can donate through:
GoFundMe
OR
USDT

If you can assist in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
Thank you for your support and kindness! 🌿

I just had the best interview ever.
I had to show them my blender Whickber Street Project, which they loved.
The Bentley was the cherry on top! I really hope to get the job! NEed to send them some coding work and some Blender renders!
Finger Crossed my fellows!
P.S. I was wearing my Aziraphale's ring!

i find it annoying when on google i search something like "how to make an artsy personal website" and lots of the results will be like "use wordpress" or "make sure it's good for search engines", like shut your fuckin' mouth, i wasn't lookin' for that, i was trying to figure out how to build and design a website that isn't boring looking. literally every html/css tutorial i've been on has taught me how to make your basic website but not how to make it look less boring. i wanna have stuff like the snazzy websites people have trending on neocities plus more accessibility but i can't figure out how to do that with the knowledge i have currently.

That post from like a month ago (I was planning to write this the day after and then immediately forgot and this has been in drafts since lol) about web devs not having some basic knowledge of the web has been stuck in my brain for a while because they are correct as I said in the notes but it's the landscape of web dev right now that's causing it and I don't see it stopping anytime soon.
I've been a professional Front End Dev for just over 7 years at this point (now a UX Dev working on a design system), and while I have a good chunk of experience under my belt, I've gotten to the point where I realize just how much shit I do not know and it's a LOOOOT.
The current landscape of web dev is that most projects and products are robust web apps that, in the absolute best case scenario, are gonna require, at minimum:
User experience research and work (UX)
User interface design (UI)
Front end with accessibility and mobile responsiveness (I am here)
Front end interactions and state management (JS engineers)
Backend database and API work
Backend infrastructure work (including setting up the dev and QA test environments)
QA testing
Developer experience to make sure devs/engineers are working efficiently with the tools they have
I'm sure I've missed some roles here, but you can see why people end up specializing when they work on bigger projects and products. The web is so unbelievably JavaScript heavy nowadays that all these specializations are Kind Of Required™, but that's absolute best case scenario. A lot of companies simply do not have the budget (or desire) to fill all these roles. So then you have a bunch of people who are kinda okay to mediocre at multiple of these things instead focusing on being good at one or two things. And then put in timeline requirements. AND THEN you have some companies who have different philosophies on how to build their core product: some are very UX focused and will put time into making sure that's present, others are not and will not care about UX in the slightest and thus those roles may not exist there at all. And...well things aren't going to be as quality as you expect when you consider all of those points.
The web is full of applications now that require a lot more expertise in different fields than just a basic static site with no data. That's not to say static sites don't exist or have no place anymore, tho. But this is where we are. It sucks.

Even though 2023 was a really good year for me personally, 2024 was quite bad... And 2025 seems to be going the same way.
And I'm not even in the US of A!
Since they say it's a good thing to celebrate the small things in life, here's one of them: today is my very first day back in University, 10 years after getting my bachelor's degree!!! 🎉
A different University, and a completely different study subject (since I'm trying to change careers and all...)!! I'm really excited!!! 🤓
So... If I'm not around much anymore, you guys know why! 💜
Please keep sending all the Mycroft and/or Mystrade fics my way. Thank you! lol

Can you get a job with just html, css and Java? Basically just as a front end developer ? With square space, Shopify, and WordPress does this take away a lot of need for front end developers?
Also with ai becoming more prominent is it "useless" to just have front end experience and are more companies wanting more people with back end experience?

my homepage journey: entry 2
...plus other shenanigans
soo, yesterday's update was a right mess, reasonably so. but today? i'm honestly just chilling.
first i wanted to note that i've actually switched the website i'm using to host my website from neocities to nekoweb, not to say that either is "better" than the other, nekoweb just suits what i need in a hosting service more!
moving on, i unfortunately had to scrap my own css animation for a marquee effect with another. in which case, i ended up using the lovely resource that koba over on nekoweb has provided
unfortunately, i haven't quiet figured out how to implement a way to still pause the animation play state on hover without it kind of breaking the marquee, but hopefully i'll figure it out eventually?
next up, i still have not found a solution for playing a sound upon a button click which sucks. i honestly have no clue why it's not working but no matter what tutorial i try and reference it just does not work for some reason.
but now we go back to good news!! i actually have a way to make draggable windows now thanks to sadgrl's drag and drop snippet however i'm still trying to find a good way to make them open and close with a function concerning display and whatnot. objectively it should be easy to do but i want there to but two buttons, one like a desktop icon to open it, and then a close button on the window itself to, well, close it. i don't know, i'll figure it out eventually.
anyways, besides continuing to work on my project yesterday, i also officially joined the melonland forum! so that's cool. melon has a lot of sick projects in all honesty.
that's all for now! i'll try and keep up with updates, but no promises.
#unfortunately no visuals this time because i'm lazy#but basically if i just do a normal .marquee:hover pseudo class and set that to animation-play-state: paused;#the looped marquee portion will just continue to go and then when you unhover it becomes SO messy#it looks great though#also i'll return to neocities eventually but i'm only focusing on my homepage for now#also i dont need to use the rss feed workaround to display the status.cafe widget on nekoweb lmfao#work smarter not harder kids!!!#coding#front end development#web development#nekoweb#neocities#webpage#man i need a nap#anyways yeah thats all bye

An Introduction
Hi, I'm Kira! I like coding. I started lessons a few months back, got pretty far, and then burned out. But I'm back again because I'd like to switch-up with my career for something that I really like.
I'm interested in front end development.
I'm very familiar with HTML. I'm still fine-tuning CSS. And while I can go through Javascript exercises, I'd like to see it in real time use to understand it, you know? Anyway, I'd love accountability and to meet more programmers that are of color, of the lgbtq+ community, or are women.
Nice to meet you all~

Back to the learning for this year! I took a few weeks off at the end of 2023 to stop any burnout... I am so glad I did because now I'm nice and refreshed to start it back up again. I also managed to get accepted on a university course starting in September 2024! I'm now on a class for Python, front-end development with javascript and learning some cybersecurity things on the side (literally starting from scratch on that topic because I know nothing!) I've made sure to have other hobbies while I do this, so I have time to relax and process my thoughts without overloading myself. I like to crochet, read and play the violin in my downtime...what about you? What are your hobbies?
