Ongoing Series - Thai

My Dear Gangster Oppa (Thurs iQIYI) ep 5 of 8 - It remains absolutely delightful. We already knew this pair does boyfriends damn near perfectly. It’s a pleasure to watch them as a couple, coupling all over our screen. The relationship does feel a bit rushed but frankly I like the pacing, it’s kind of Korean style which makes sense considering the original IP. 

The Sign (Sat YT) ep 1 of 10 - You know what this is? It’s FUN is what it is. I haven’t felt this way about a BL in a while. Sure is has an uneven story, fight sequences, pacing, and acting but still… yay! Billy is great, he very good at thirst. It’s a crime Lee Long Shi isn’t in this, but otherwise weeeeeeeeee!

Last Twilight (Fri YT) ep 3 of 12 - The montage of them learning and training together was so stinking cute I can hardly contain myself. Plus a little language play? (Did you catch the added “na” on to thank you? Gah! So sweet.) Have mercy. I love the banter that these two can execute so smoothly. It reminds me the most of TayNew back in their Kiss days. Or Nanon & Ohm in Bad Buddy.

There’s this breezy casualness to friendships and long-term relationships that Asian BLs seem to find really hard to execute (I’m thinking about something like Hospital Playlist as the best example). It’s more a friend chemistry than a lover chemistry, although of course it can morph into that.

Anyway, I am waffling, but I’m loving this show. (The bit with the teacher made me cry.) I also really love how much actual Bangkok we’re getting from it for a change. 

Finally... how much did @respectthepetty and I love the pink milk shirt moment? SO MUCH. Color theory, plot devise, fashion, food, and a trope reference all in one. Well done GMMTV! Very well done.

Twins the series (Fri GaGa) ep 4 of 10 - I would like it if we got onto the BL section of this BL. Please and thank you. 

Pit Babe (Fri iQIYI) ep 2 of 14 - it's delightfully trashy, btu slightly less trashy than last week because they introduced AlanJeff who are my new babies of age gap delight and you cannot have them. THEY ARE MINE. Also Way. WAY IS MINE. Also, I decided to do a trash watch.

Bake Me Please (Mon Gaga) ep 1 of 6 - It’s nice. It’s fine. Atmospheric and pretty and full of deserts. What’s not to love? Is it inspired? No. Definitely has an Antique Bakery (play it again, BL). But I do love food based cinema. 

Middleman’s Love (Fri YT & iQIYI ep 3 of 8 - What’s annoying is that this could’ve been so good. It’s a poster child for squandered potential. 

Absolute Zero (Weds iQIYI) ep 9 of 12 - Because of the temporal paradox, and Thai BL not being all that great on narrative consistency anyway, this is a confusing piece as well as a painful one. Now Ongsa seems to be nothing more than a stalker who cries all the time. 

Playboyy (Thurs Gaga) 2 of 14(!) eps - This really feels like Thailand is trying to relive the gory days of Japan's pinks. I wasn’t into it then and I’m certainly not into it now. It’s a mess and weirdly mechanically not sexy. I’ll stay watching it but, like Only Friends, I don’t think I’m gonna warm to it. I just don’t like shows where there are no likable characters. 

Also imma say it, so plug your assears. This is about as deep as a dildo can go. Which is to say, the size queens seem to be finding it more deep than the rest of us who are already bottoming out. Just make sure you're taking adequate lube prep with your psyches.

The Whisperer (Sun ????) 1 of 10 - Thai horror BL that ALSO involves cheating (what joy is mine). He has dimples (My Ride) but I don't think even that gives me the will. You can tell me how this goes if you can find it.

SHADOW (Thai Gaga) 14 eps - I'm not wild about Thai horror (or horror at all) even one featuring Singto and Fluke. I'm holding off. If told it's good, I'll binge.

7 Days Before Valentine (Weds WeTV) ep 1 of 10 - trailer here, horror-esk. Adapted from y-novel of the same name, directed by Tu (180 Degree) stars Jet (Why You… Y Me?). Giving me Luminous Solution vibes, so I'm waiting to binge if told it's safe.

Beyond The Star (Weds iQIYI) 8 eps - House of Stars meets Boyband. I was NOT impressed with ep one. Waiting to be told if I should bother.

What Did You Eat Yesterday Season 2 AKA Kinou Nani Tabeta? Season 2 (Japan Gaga) 10 eps - I find this series more fun to binge, so I'm waiting until it completes its run.

You giggled and smiled at him, also putting your hand on his arm that was comforting you. "Thanks. I-I don't really know what I'd do without you. "He smiled back, making your heart skip a beat. "I'm not going anywhere?"You and Leon were currently walking towards a door, you behind him and his gun at the ready. When you finally reached the door, he carefully opened it, making a squeaking noise. He looked around and stepped inside.

You followed. There was nobody inside the room, just a few tumbled chairs and papers scattered around. You both walked a few feet away from the door until Leon stopped in front of you. A huge window that was open caught his eye, and you were confused.

"Leon—"

"You can stop right there, Leon," a woman's voice interrupted you both from behind.

Neither of you moved, Leon's gun still raised. The sound of heels clicking on the floor was heard behind you and stopped. Leon slightly turned to see who it was. "Wouldn't want me to use this, would you?" she said. You noticed that Leon seemed calm about this. 'Why? Does he know her?' You still didn't move.

"Ada."

'Ada?'

"You don't seem surprised… Interesting." Leon slowly moved one of his feet back, then suddenly turned around, his hand hitting Ada's hand that was holding a gun, making her hand move away from him, but the gun still in her grip. You rushed toward a safe place, watching. Just as Ada's hand moved away from Leon, he grabbed her arm and moved it to the side, making her slightly stumble. Leon then let go of her arm. Ada was quick to regain her balance, avoiding Leon's knife going towards her head by swiftly arching her body back. She quickly bowed down, also avoiding another attack from Leon. But when Leon lunged his knife forward yet again, Ada swiftly grabbed his wrist, making him stop his attack mid-air. She lifted her legs to kick his head, but Leon's other hand gripped her ankle, preventing her from making contact. Ada scoffed and twisted her body, her arm about to lunge forward to the side of his head. Leon quickly blocked it by raising his other arm in defense. Then, quickly, he grabbed her arm and put it to his side, then used his other hand to grab the knife from his chest, putting it closely to her neck, making her freeze on the spot.

"Try using knives next time. Better for close encounters," he taunted.

They both looked at each other for a few seconds. "So, who are you working for this time?" Leon asked. "Oh, Leon, you know I don't work and tell," she smiled. Leon let her go, turning his back on her, putting his knife back. "Y/n—" "Leave the girl," Ada interrupted. You heard her, talking about you. Ada looked at you. "She's lost no matter what." You couldn't help but feel uneasy as her gaze lingered on you. Then she looked away and started walking towards the open window. Leon's eyes followed her every move.

"You walk away now, and who knows? Maybe you'll live to meet me again. And then I might give you the 'greeting' you're looking for."

'Do they know each other?' you thought, still keeping quiet.

"You think I'm gonna give up that easy?" Leon said, looking at Ada's back. She sighed, then looked at Leon with a smile on her face. "Right. How about we continue this discussion another time?" she said. Leon nodded and went towards you. "Are you okay?" you nodded, still confused about what was happening between them. When Leon turned to look where Ada was, she was gone.

"Who… is she? I-if you don't mind me asking?" Leon looked back at you. "Just an old friend."

"Huh."

He looked at you with a confused expression. "What?" "Well, I see you both as more than just old friends. There's something more going on between you two," you said. Leon chuckled. "You're reading too much into it. Ada and I go way back, but that's all there is to it."

Slay The Princess Ramble

Ok I have been having Thoughts about the Voice of the Contrarian and am not afraid to share them. Will start under read more link because this might get a little long.

Ok, one of the Main Things about the Contrarian is that he doesn't follow the narrative, and I accept this, but I cannot emphasize enough just how Different he is from the other voices.

Ok, let's start at the tip of the iceberg here. Change. Born as counterparts to the Shifting Mound's Princesses, it makes sense that the Voices remain static in their personalities. Broken is submissive. Cold is apathetic. Hunted is animalistic. Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. But Contrarian actually changes over the course of The Stranger path. He sees what he's done to the Princess, recognises that it has hurt her, and just ... drops the jester act immediately. The only other Voice that really changes at all is Hero, and that's because he's literally always by your side. And that's not even getting to how you find him Strange Beginnings.

Strange Beginnings. Oh, do I have Feelings about this ending, but I'll focus on just the Contrarian (for now). Out of all the Voices, all the cabins, the Contrarian is the only Voice other than the Hero himself that can join you in the finale. Maybe it's because his change has made him closer to the Shifting Mound than any of the other potential voices. Maybe it's because inside of The Stranger's cabin was the first you saw, rather than the Princess'. Maybe it's something else altogether, I don't know. However, what I do know is that once again, he's changed. He's ... honestly more downtrodden than even the Moment of Clarity version of himself. Only making jokes when he notices Hero's concern, accepting the knife without a second thought, (even calling himself the worst part of the Long Quiet in the most recent update, I've heard). But that's still not the end of things.

I think what interests me the most about Contrarian, though, is his relationship with the princess. He. Does. Not. Have. One. She is a literal stranger to him. He is not the Stranger's true counterpart, not really. Nothing about him contradicts her, unlike how all the other Voices have been named after their actions relative to their Part I Princesses. Instead, he is the Contrarian because he contradicts the Narrator. I can not emphasise enough how wild that makes my brain go. Because it explains SO MUCH about why he's Different from the others. Long Quiet is a foil for the Shifting Mound, his Voices are foils for her Princesses. Everything about them is static, unchanging. Because they are a single being, spiralling further into itself with every decision you make, only ever changing if you refuse to follow the path set out for you. And then there's him, the reflection of an echo of a mortal. (If he was there in the Spectre route, would she see him as something Other as well, something that once belonged but has been fragmented off of its given path).

Gah I'm obsessed with him. I want to dissect him for science. I want to tear and rip and pull him apart until I can understand what mysteries still hide behind the facade he shows the world. What are you hiding, you smiling little freak of nature?

so much Mayday stuff (& a smidgeon of Vinyl City worldbuilding) in my head. ooouugghh. wrote this at 12am last night and i'm not the best at articulating my thoughts so forgive me as this wooonnt be the most polished. this is likee a mini conglomeration of personal headcanons and a bit of analysis (reading too far into things) ... i just wanna talk about her REEEAALLL BAAADDDD

i've always thought of Mayday as someone so deeply intertwined with Vinyl City (specifically the working-class & lower-class areas; the 'little guys') that her dream of becoming a big famous rockstar also stems from a desire for agency/power. power to be able to do SOMETHING in the name of her communities after personally living through, like, 2 decades of neglect—condemned by NSR to live in the shadow of the more tourist-oriented/commercial/profitable parts of the city—even if it means rising to charterhood under the same stupid record label that's the source of all her problems in the first place ...

i also like to believe this, in tandem with her rumbustious nature, is why Mayday IMMEDIATELY switches to aggression (dare i call it a TV meltdown...?) following her & Zuke's flames being so harshly snuffed out during the Lights Up Audition.

Mayday was probably warned beforehand by the adults around her about the EDM bias. i think she ignored/dismissed every warning/dissuasion because she believed in herself and her ability and her principles too unshakably for her own good. and then for the judges (particularly Tatiana) to unanimously strike her dream down like that, thus proving their warnings right & her hard work (and ignorance) in vain... FURY!!!! (Mayday is NOT the best at taking losses with grace)

and then the banning of Rock from the Lights Up Audition happens. and then the subsequent blackout and diversion of energy happens. and seeing the extent of what happens across the city with her own eyes from atop the ledge (after being limited to her own ground-level experiences on the outside, looking inward) is what finally tips her over the edge and into the vat of a full-blown revolution.

semi-related, but i also view Mayday's hatred towards EDM as. like. a general prejudice. it goes a bit deeper than just Not liking the sound/style; she associates it with NSR, and therefore links it with everything wrong with Vinyl City. rock music, a dying art in the era being upheld by her tightly-knit community, untouched by NSR, to her is authenticity.

she also loathes the "Order leads to progress in Vinyl City." slogan because, to her, order means complacency... and complacency has done shit all for anyone she knows. ("If chaos is what is needed to get things done around here, so be it!")

i know i'm kind of bouncing back to the second paragraph but. like. there's just something so dear to me about the idea of a Mayday whose a roving city girl from off the streets... armed with her guitar, her passion, and her support system, doing everything she can to prevent rock—her home—from becoming irrelevant. always chasing a fantasy about being something bigger than herself. even if the odds are stacked against her. even if Mayday's own impetuosity is a double-edged sword that impedes her just as much as it enables her.

to me she's. like. a melting pot of ambition and stubbornness and righteousness and naievite. Mayday girl i love you SOOOOOO SOOOOOOOOO MUCH ideally i would put this all into a legitimate form of writing like a backstory fic or something but gah i don't even know where to START

I have been saving ep 4 of Wandee Goodday like a particularly delicious sweetie. Also I wouldn't allow myself to watch it until sorted out at least half of the mixture of clean, not clean but still too clean to wash, and dirty clothes from my chair and floordrobe.

I've done the floor - what more could be expected on a fine Bank Holiday weekend. So that's good enough and I just can't wait anymore!

My main takeaway is how do these lovely dumbasses not realise they're in love with each other yet? I mean they actually kinda know but haven't even admitted it to themselves. I suppose (as with Ming with Tong in MSI ) it's hard to realise that someone 10 times better than the one you've been crushing on for years is right in front - or possibly behind - you. At this point the old crush is just habit - or addiction.

Vying for the Best Bestie of the Year crown is, once again, our Ace king Plakao. He was full of clarity and throwing truth bombs this ep - I just love him to bits. Plus I approve of his business sideline.

In fact I like everyone, with the obvious exceptions of Ter and his cheerleaders. Fuck him and his dog in a manger attitude, and OF COURSE he lives in condo 666. Excellent. I've honestly thought about in detail what would happen if Lone Sunna and Eclipse met. Eclipse hesitantly tries to hide it, because his Meno side wants to comfort this Sunna, while his Sunna side... embarrassedly knows this version of himself will not react well. Lone Sunna starts to suspect, and as Eclipse walks to the exit to take his final leave, Lone Sunna throws fire towards the entrance, setting the whole entrance as well as its surroundings tapestries ablaze. Eclipse pauses, surprised but not as surprised as he probably would be. In a shaken, desperate, demanding tone, Sunna knowingly goes "Come. Back"

I'd like to imagine that Sunna tries to keep Eclipse in the same way Eclipse would keep Y/N, but the dynamic is a little too off for that, so Eclipse just stares at Sunna with such sadness like "I am so sorry this ever happened to you. If it means anything, I'm still proud of you." And Sunna just breaks. She babbles about how she doesn't know what to do on her own, or how to feel better. Eclipse sits her down and calmly helps her through it. Sunna expresses distress over what she did to Meno in their final moments, and Eclipse's Meno side tells her what she always needed to hear: I forgive you. You tried your best. Never believe for a second that your Meno hated you in their dying moments. I always loved you

However it's done, I'd like to imagine that Eclipse would try his hardest to offer Sunna the closure she deserves

Why do you write Steddie?

Ooh, I have a long and storied past with shipping and, while I've been a Stranger Things fan since the start, I hadn't really picked up any shipping threads until S4. I think Steve and Eddie have a great mix of that jock and loser dynamic and enemies to lovers vibe that works really well - but also the ending to S4 was really ripe for some good angst storytelling. A little reminiscent of Stucky or Reddie.

What’s your favorite trope to READ?

Hm. I'm not sure. I am a sucker for time travel, but I don't think I've red too much of that. Probably slow-burn - I just love being frustrated!

What’s your favorite trope to WRITE?

Well … according to my most used tags on Ao3, it's AUs and Time Travel, and Friends to Lovers shows up there as well, which all sound right. I know that I'm enjoying a book or show or whatever when I think, I need to write and AU of this!

What’s your favorite Steddie fic?

Ahh! That's too hard - I have a lot of bookmarks for fics I love! It’ probably a battle between Lovesick in Loch Nora by red0aktree and standing up the dead by heartofwinterfell. The first is so gah, you know? So romcon. The latter, I love the concept. Even though it's Max-led, Eddie is fabulously done in that fic, for sure.

Is there a trope you’re excited to explore in a future work but haven’t yet?

Not really - ideas tend to swoop in when I'm not actively thinking about it. I have had a niggling little thought about a folklore esque cryptic came back wrong story, something creepy, you know. But we'll see!

What is your writing process like?

Overly organised! I'm a planner, so I need to know what the ending is before I start - I will generally map out acts and scenes and character arcs before I write the first sentence, which I think helps me immensely so that I don't have to do so many edits later.

Do you have any writing quirks?

I'm sure I must do, but I don't know about them. I guess - I'll tend to write all my dialogue in a scene first as a but of a template and then fill in the gaps.

Do you prefer posting when you’ve finished writing or on a schedule?

Oh, when I've finished for sure. The only time I've ever abandoned a fix was when I posted as I was going on a schedule and it really killed the enjoyment of it for me - too much pressure on timing and the lack if ability to go back and fiddle with things.

Which fic are you most proud of?

I'll stick to my Steddie fics, so it would have to be An Act of Grace, for the Bigbang. I adore that fic, honestly, and worked really hard on it. I think it came out almost exactly how I wanted it and I was so excited when posting finally arrived!

How did you get the idea for An Act of Grace?

It was two things, really - firstly I had watched ‘Howards End’ with Joseph Quinn in and fully needed to see Eddie in the similar time period, I could not get it out of my head - the idea of a servant Eddie and aristocratic Steve came to me pretty quickly after that and was too perfect. Also, though, I wanted to do something with a distinctly English vibe to it (I am English!) - I sometimes feel a bit at sea writing USAmerican characters and settings, so something more familiar I though might work better for me.

When writing When the Sun is High (I’ll Meet You In the Woods), what was something you didn’t expect?

For it to be so popular, actually! Particularly as it was being posted. It's my most popular Steddie fic by a country mile and I'm really fond of it - trying to get a version of Steve and Eddie who had a history to work with canon was a fun challenge.

What inspired If I Loved You Less?

Well, its an Emma AU, so Emma! I was watching the most recent film adaption and NEEDED to write it, but I also loved Clueless growing up, so putting a modern twist on it made the most sense to me. The placement of characters in that story was very fun!

What was your favorite part to write from Blackbird?

The tree decorating scene, for sure. I love that part of Christmas myself, so I had a great time adding in little bits and pieces from people I know and traditions they have.

How do/did you feel writing When the Sun is High (I’ll Meet You In the Woods)?

Gosh, it feels like it was so long ago! I was just excited to get something out into fandom, I think, and to become part of the community.

What was the most difficult part of writing The Wonder?

Ooh, probably knowing that it wasn't going to do very well? 😄 I completely love that little fic, so to kind of keep it contained to just Eddie and Wayne - even mostly Wayne - was tricky. Sometimes less is more!

Do you have a favorite scene and/or line from any of your fics?

Hm. In the epilogue of An Act of Grace, Claudia gives a little speech about Steddie. I think I like that a lot for the way it kind of sums everything up so nicely. A bit of a snapshot of them as characters.

Do you have any upcoming projects or fics you’d like to share/promote?

Nope! I've taken a bit of a break from writing at the moment, buy I've been at it for 13 years, so I'm sure I'll be back at it in the future.

So, season 1 rewatch is done and I forgot just how fucking great the last fight scene is, he’s just so… gah! To be fair the entire last episode is fantastic, probably my favourite one up until this point, but it got me drooling over Matt in the gym. I don’t even think I have to say anything, but like considering I split my hand open from going after a punching bag, I’m just picturing Matt trying to fix the injury, showing me how to hit properly once it’s healed, his voice in my ear, his whole slutty body against mine, the whole nine yards.

Also, practicality means red suit is safer, red suit and helmet are smarter and my nursing student ass approves because safety, but the whore in me is lamenting that it’s missing the absolute whorishness of the skin tight black one. It’s a problem, Charlie get a million times hotter when he’s punching things, bleeding a little, and ya know, just speaking, so someone in costuming knew what they were doing 👀

Still not over “Avocados at Law” btw. And that smooth fucking Spanish, ya girl is gone and so are her clothes 😂 I’m just considering myself lucky that he lives in my iPad and isn’t a few blocks away. Compulsive tease.

Anyway, that is the season 1 ramble… sorry for the invasion but I had to come back and gush.

OMG that final fight scene!! Matt's little "take your shot" in his Devil voice always gets me. And all those flips when he fights Fisk always feels like he's showing off to me 🤣 Like did you need all of them? I think punching would have worked just fine...

Honestly any time we see Matt in a gym working out I drool. I've got a weakness for Matt's arms, especially if they're all sweaty because he's been punching a bag for a bit. But Matty would absolute help you bandage your knuckles and he'd teach you in the future how to properly wrap your hands and throw a punch to avoid injury. And he'd be doing it to keep you from getting hurt in the future, but let's be real, it'd be damn near impossible to focus on what he's teaching with his body pressed against yours and his hands on you. He'd be repeatedly reminding you to focus and it would make things worse 😆

I KNOW! I love that he's protected with the new suit because I don't want him dead, but also, I love seeing that black fabric clinging to him. I'm not going to deny it. At least we get somewhat of a comeback of it in season 3! It's not the same, but it's something.

HIM AND FOGGY ARE ALWAYS SO CUTE. The cutest little avocados! But I love that you're still stuck on his Spanish 🤣 Maybe we'll see more of it in Born Again? Who knows.

But...could you imagine if he kept showing up at your window in his black suit?? 👀👀

This Week in BL - just RELAX BL, you're stressing me out

Oct 2023 Wk 3

Ongoing Series - Thai

Dangerous Romance (Fri YT) ep 10 of 12 - Boyfriends are cute boyfriends. Reconciliation with daddy and then major brother drama. How exciting. Gah but that closing scene, these two are such great actors! 

Naughty Babe (Sat YT) ep 8 fin - A perfectly serviceable final episode. I did love the red Chinese-style wedding to go with the “hia.” Also, just a little Thai 'poke poke poke' at China. 

Final thoughts?

This is a nice addendum to Cutie Pie, but it’s relatively incomprehensible even if you’ve watched that previous installment. I can’t imagine it will make any sense at all if you haven’t. Frankly, the most impressive thing about this show was the makeup team. MaxNat give excellent chemistry, all the high heat is well done, and the friendships are adorable, even if the story is nonsensical. It’s fine, I’m relieved it was only 8 eps. I enjoyed it for the pair but I will probably never rewatch. A weak 8/10

My Universe (Sun iQIYI) Lucky Love ep 9 of 24 -Heartbroken (drunk) gay boy meets (fights) sister’s new chef. I love the femme bestie. Adorbs. This one seems pretty good actually. I like all the shots of Bangkok’s actual traffic. POV is a bit of a sad sack tho. 

Absolute Zero (Thai Weds iQIYI) ep 4 of 12 - There is something clever about this narrative in the way that they are each each other’s first and second loves, but also age gap kinda creepy (Thailand maybe leave this one for Japan?)

Venus in the Sky (Tues iQIYI) 8 of 10 eps - So much whiny gay drama babies. However, it also manages to be painfully slow, through the simple act of having 90% of the show be boys sitting around staring at their phones. Then it suddenly got way higher heat than I expected. Honestly, this could’ve ended at 8 sps. I don’t see how extending the show is going to improve it in any way.

Only Friends (Sat YT) ep 11 of 12 (not a BL but I'm watching it anyway) - I don’t have faith in any couple. One of my favorite things about this show is watching how many boys Mark can kiss. I know everyone is focusing on Neo, but seriously baby boy got game. Meanwhile Boston’s dick must be made of self-lubing steal pipe; I remain entirely uninterested is TopMew; Mew’s fam demonstrate why a gay boy should never take advice from straight women; and the slut-shaming agenda continues. NO SINGING. No character in this show is happy when Boeing turns up, but the rest of us trash-loving muckrakers are thrilled.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

If It’s With You AKA Even If I Fall In Love With You AKA Kimi to nara Koi wo Shite Mite mo’ (Japan Gaga) ep 3 of 5 - Oh it is so cute and so sweet and so aching. I really did not want the confession to happen, even though I knew it had to. There is an element of torture to this one that only Japan can execute with such precise softness.

You Are Mine (Taiwan Fri Viki) eps 7 of 10 - I remain charmed. But while the me of 2018 would have thought this one of the best BLs ever, the me of now is finding it a bit dated and nostalgic.

Bon Appetit (Korea Weds iQIYI) 7-8fin - Romance between an office worker and the man from his past next door who cooks well. It was a very sweet and cute tale of food as love in the All the Liquors family of KBL. I’m not wild about it, I did enjoy it, I was happy to have it show up on my dash, but ultimately it will simply become one of the KBL crowd. 8/10 

Kiseki: Dear to Me (Taiwan Tues Viki & iQIYI) ep 10 of 13(?) - another one where they are separated for most of the show. Although the sides are giving win. 

Bump Up Business (Korea Gaga) 1-2 of 8 - from Idol Romance staring OnlyOneOf's Nine & Mill, this released as a movie in July in SK but is now being recut/reissued as a series. Love story between a trainee who is about to debut and a celebrity plagued by scandal. After that OmegaX Shoulder bullshizz business I am very wary of this show, but this pair is already better cast.

Out of the mouths of OnlyOneOf (!!!) babes...

As to the show? I don’t know. I mean I love the idea, am nervous about Korea (with that bubble) doing a meta critique of the BL industry, with K-pop idols, using an existing group. It just seems like there’s a lot of mines in this small field, and it could go horribly horribly wrong. I am enjoying it, but also anxious the whole time I’m watching it for culture/market reasons. That said, I did pretty much ask for this exact show. So I can't complain, now can I?  

Mr Cinderella 2 (Vietnam Sat YT) ep 5 of ? - I honestly don’t entirely understand what is going on. But it all seems to be the Psychotic Pretty Kitty’s fault. Oo caught in the act of drug-induced cheating - DRAMA. Dung should cut his losses and leave - cute doctor husband or not. Lovely kiss from the sides. I gotta say, this cast is hella pretty. I’m not mad that this team is kind of turning into GMMTV Vietnam.

It's Airing But...

I Feel You Linger in the Air (Fri grey) ep 8 of 12 - I will try to watch 8-12 and do a series review when I get back in November but... not sure I will be able to. Fingers crossed.

Love in Translation (Sat iQIYI) ep 8fin - completed, my final thoughts in Nov.

What Did You Eat Yesterday Season 2 AKA Kinou Nani Tabeta? Season 2 (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 1 of 10 - I find this series more fun to binge, so I'm waiting until it completes its run.

I Cannot Reach You AKA I Can't Reach You AKA Kimi ni wa Todokanai (Japan Tues Netflix-Japan & ????) - in classic JBL fashion, I Cannot Reach You could not be reached. 

Can I Buy Your Love From A Vending Machine? AKA Sono Koi, Jihanki de Kaemasu ka? (Japan cinema release in-country only) - This one is a movie from Japan so in customary fashion who tf knows when (or if) it will get international distribution. Salaryman Ayumu Koiwai just can't tear his eyes away from the strong, muscular man as he checks on the stocks of the vending machine in his office.

One Room Angel (Japan Gaga) - Yukinori, a convenience store clerk was accidentally stabbed by a thug and nearly died. He returns home to find an angel waiting for him. The drama is an adaptation based on Harada’s manga of the same name (which I did not like). With only five episodes and a good chance this won’t end happily, I am going to wait and let you tell me how it goes. Binge it when it is complete if it's safe.

In Case You Missed It

GMMTV posted their initial 2024 line up, here's my round up of the BLs. It includes 2 JBL adaptations, 2 KBL adaptations (that they aren't admitting to) and vampires. If you want to know how I did on the predictions that's here and the answer is: very badly indeed.

I am watching the Y Journey: Stay Like a Local series. But they are essentially tourist board long-form advertisements. I enjoy the promo aspect with regards to the food. And seeing some of my favorite pairs do interesting other things is kinda fun. But the whole thing feels disingenuous when gay marriage is still not legal and it’s essentially the Thai government (making these ads) who is stopping that from happening. I have a similar feeling to iQIYI as a content provider. It’s not queerbaiting in the original sense of the term, but it’s pretty gross to use gay for advertising with a nationalistic propaganda agenda, when being gay is still not legal in your country. Yes I struggle to reconcile myself with this on the regular, and it’s an ongoing hypocritical struggle for my tiny withered tired old heart.

All that said, this week's installment, He’s Not Happy, did make me want to rewatch Make a Wish. There’s no kissing in this series but JudoFluke kiss beautifully, so If you haven’t seen Make a Wish, it’s very good and I recommend tracking it down.

Dan suffers from sleep paralysis, and in his dreams he sees a shadow that suffocates him. It gets worse when he transfers schools.

Mikako: *sighs* I'm sorry I had to do this to you but you've gone too far!

Mikako was about to feel when she felt a pain on her head.

Mikako: *grunts* My head, I don't feel so good. Why is everything spinning? I feel like I'm gonna- *passed out and falls to the ground*

Mikako passed out on the group after getting payback at Junko for bringing everyone in despair and kidnapping her.

Later, someone found her.

The headlights are practically blinding, but you're able to see them reach for the car door and push it open. They step out to show that they have a hood over their face.

"Who are you?"

"You mean you haven't figured it out yet?" They ask, sounding annoyed. "I thought leaving my necklace at the crime scene would make it pretty clear."

"HEY-!" They reach for their hood.

"I'm just showing you who I am." The calmness in their voice made your stomach churn. You watched as they pulled the hood back. You feel your gun slip out of your hands.

It was like looking in the mirror.

"Surprised?" She laughed. "Looks like Mom and Dad didn't tell you everything." Your mind was spinning as you watched her sprint toward you. You managed to twist yourself mid-fall so that she was beneath you, giving you a slight advantage. "Aww, don't feel bad. I didn't know I had a twin either." She laughed, clocking you in the jaw with her elbow. "Not that it matters, you know, I'm going to kill you and take your place." You spit in her eye and rolled towards your gun. If you could just reach it. "You're not better than me, just because they didn't give you up!" You flinched as her fingers came a bit too close to your eyes for comfort.

"You think you can be me? Huh?" You laughed. "You'd be found out in a heartbeat. My husband would know you were a fake the second you walk through our front door."

"Don't be too sure." You pinned her arms as she reached for your gun. Shit, you thought. Now we're both pinned like this. "I've been watching you for months, learning your routine."

"Oh just fuck off." You hiss. "You're pinned." She smirked.

"So are you."

"My team will be here any minute."

"No, they won't. They don't have any clue where you are. I disabled your car's GPS while you were at the Lieutenant's apartment and I've got a cell jammer in my car."

"Why are you doing this?"

"I don't have to explain myself to you, Miss Perfect." She wiggled and got out of your hold, despite your best effort, sending a kick to your lower abdomen. "FUCK YOU!" You didn't know what came out of your mouth, but you were sure it didn't qualify as words. She got the gun in her hands and you jumped up just in time to miss a bullet to the leg. "You can decide if you want it slow and painful." You sigh, standing up. At the moment you didn't have much choice. You both stopped and listened to the sound of squealing tires.

"My team won't be here, huh?"

"GET IN THE CAR OR I'LL SHOOT YOU NOW!" You knew she was serious, so you headed toward her car. She came up behind you and you stopped and threw your head back. You felt her nose crack against the back of your skull. "AUGH!" She put the gun right up against your neck and pushed you into the door of her car. "BITCH! YOU'RE GONNA BLEED OUT-!" Brakes squealed and a gunshot rang out, You flinched, but you weren't hit. Her body dropped behind you and you turned. Gibbs, Tim, Nick, and Ellie all stood outside the Charger, weapons drawn. Tim was the first to holster his weapon and start towards you. You met him halfway and he wrapped you up tightly in his arms.

"How'd you find me?" He laughed.

"I put an Airtag in your trunk." You blinked. He couldn't have done that after you went to the Lieutenants. You leaned back and looked up at him and his sheepish grin.

"How long has that been there?" His face turned redder than it already was. You patted him on the chest.

"I think I can forgive you this time."

"So," Ellie came up beside Tim as Nick started putting up crime scene tape. "I take it you didn't know about the whole twin thing?" Gibbs was off to the side on the phone, presumably with Leon. You stiffened. Shit. You proved your innocence but you still defied an order from the director. Hopefully, he would be understanding and just give you a week of unpaid leave.

"No," You finally answered. "Not until she showed her face just now." You look down at her body before quickly looking away. "Can we cover her up until Ducky and Jimmy get here? I don't like looking at myself dead on the ground." Ellie nodded before quickly going to scour the trunk of the car for anything that could shield her from view.

"Hey." You jump at Gibbs's voice being so close. You didn't notice him walk over. "You alright?" You nodded.

"Yeah. How pissed is the Director?" He laughed, smiling.

"The usual amount." He stuffed his hands in his pockets, looking toward where your car was in the ditch. "Tow truck's on the way. Since your car is evidence It'll be towed back to NCIS."

"Evidence?"

"She hit it with her car, right?" He pointed. "Plus, I think your dash cam caught her entire confession on video."

"I think it's still recording. I can see the red dot in the corner." Ellie added and you smiled.

"I knew getting one of them was going to be a good investment." You elbowed Tim and he sighed.

"Okay, I was wrong about the dashcam being useless, happy?" You smirked.

"Very." With that video, you were pretty much cleared of the murder charges, but you knew you still had to face the Director and some form of punishment. Better than being dead, you supposed. Tim wrapped an arm around you and pulled you closer. Yep. Definitely better.

A/N:: I was painting my nails recently and I went to tuck back some of my hair but it was really difficult so I tilted my head in hopes to make it easier, that's when my eyes fell upon my new Gaon poster and I was like 💡idea

Synopsis:: One day your painting Gaons nails when you decide to get a little freaky with him but since his nails are wet, you don't allow him to touch you. This plan goes better than you had planned...

The smell of nail polish and polish remover filled your room as you painted Gaon's nails black, gold, and dark red. He randomly approached you today and asked you to redo his nails. Lately you and jiseok have been painting each other's nails and he really seems to enjoy it. 

As the cold liquid dripped off the small brush onto Goan's nails with the fan running there was silence. Jiseok finally knows that you need focus to make them look good. He sat there as you held his hand in yours. You finally finished painting his nails so now it was time for them to dry. 

"They're done!" You said blowing on his nails in hopes to dry them quicker. You then started packing up the nail polish remover, cotton balls, nail polish etc. Jiseok on the other hand found a strand of his short, black, hair in his face. It was tickling his nose so he went to swipe it away with his hand when you caught his hand. "Your nails are wet! You might get it in your beautiful hair," you said with a wave of your hand. You then tucked his hair back for him. You stood up, your bare feet on your wooden floor and a matching anklet (with Jiseok) around your foot. You set your nail polish pack back on your dresser when you spotted something. It was a little bunny shaped hair tie.

 Since Gaon's hair seemed to love getting in his face today so you grabbed it and went back over to him. He was sitting in front of the fan making weird robot sounds into it. His hair was blowing out of his face making it the perfect opportunity to tie it back. You sat down behind him and started doing up his hair.

"Y/N what are you doing?" He said in an innocent voice.

"Tying your hair back," You said with a giggle.

"Okay," he said with a shrug of his shoulders and went back to making sounds into the fan. 

"You're supposed to put your hands up to the fan to dry them silly," you said as you wrapped your hands around him.

"But it's so hot out today," he whined, but he put his hands up to it anyway. "Y/N what are you doing?" He chuckled. 

"Hugging you," you said, squeezing him harder.

"Gah Y/N stop!" He put his hands on your arms.

"Wait you can't touch me remember," you giggled and he huffed. That's when an idea sparked in your head. Your hand trickled down his shirt "innocently" and Gaon jumped.

"Y-Y/N?" He said without moving his hands from the fan.

"Yes," you said seductively as you leaned closer to his ear. He shut his eyes as his face filled with pink. 

"Stop, your-ah!" 

You bit down on his neck, not hard or anything, but enough to show him who's in charge here. He whined and whimpered as you left marks all along his neck. That's when you heard footsteps coming from down the hallway and Gaon definitely heard them too. You let go of him and pulled out your phone and pretended like everything was normal.

That's when Jooyeon opened the door.

"Hey, just so you guys know Gunil is trying to cook dinner. It should take about an hour or so," he said as his silver hair hung partly in his face.

"Okay, sounds good!" You and Gaon both gave him a thumbs up and Jooyeon left, closing the door behind him. Jiseok let out a sigh of relief as the door latched, but his relief soon vanished again. You crawled right into his lap faster than light itself. You were essentially feeling him up as he kept his hands glued to the floor because he finally learned his lesson. He just had to let you do whatever the hell you wanted, and it was turning him on. Perhaps too much. 

"Someone's enjoying this," you teased as you continued to place kisses and hickeys all over him. He bit his lip hard and refused to acknowledge your teasing. "Hm, are you not liking this," you said as you traced a circle with your finger on his collar bone.

"What, no, what gave you that impression?" He said looking genuinely upset.

"You're just not responding, perhaps you'd rather praise," you said, putting a finger to your chin to signify your thinking. You could tell by Gaon's expression that your assumption was correct. You couldn't contain yourself anymore and started pulling off his clothes without warning. He may be questioning what you're doing but you both know that he's actually enjoying the hell out of this. You unzipped his Jean shorts pulled them down just enough (along with his boxers)

He was as hard as a rock and he was clearly embarrassed by it. His hand covered his mouth and hot red cheeks. You just smirked and moved on, he isn't anymore aroused than you are right now. You gently touched him between his thighs with your cold hand and he instantly jolted away with a bit of a hiss.

"S-sorry," He blushed at the awkward situation. You just smiled at him and waved your hand to tell him to brush it off. You then spread your across as much of his length as you possibly could making his jaw drop and instantly throw his head back. He bit his hand to cope with the embarrassment of his dirty behavior. 

"Are you quieting yourself?" You said as you slowly moved your hand up and down him as he whined every time you went farther down.

"Maybe," he said before going back to his muffled moaning sounds.

"If you do that one more time I'll stop," you said calmly while he worried.

"Okay I'll be good," he said before blushing again. This whole "good boy," thing was unfamiliar to him. He liked it, he loved calling you mommy and Jiseok loves it when you call him your good little boy. He just doesn't know how to act natural about it. 

You started picking up the pace and the lewd sounds in the room started getting louder which caused Jiseok to start panicking, but it also felt so good at the same time. You started to continuously hit that sweet spot over and over again which just made him melt all over you…literally. 

"Please, please, please," he started begging randomly as his hands hovered over your bare shoulders. He wanted to grab them and knead them so bad but he wanted to keep getting spoiled. As your hand swiftly went up and down his length you tucked some of his loose hair behind his ear and for some reason that's what did it for him. Warm, liquid, arousal coated your hand. You looked down at him in shock. You didn't expect him to cum so early.

hi. gah. okay. here's my wrap up for the month

📝 prepped for and completed the last set of internal tests for this degree [2/2] (which I got through after much cribbing and whining and quite literally projecting study topics onto my blorbos 👍 ) 📝 started GRE prep!

🎓 got some gradecard related paperwork done 🎓 spoke to my prof regarding my internship deliverables for uni—report format, certificate requirements, etc etc

📥 I voted! it was the first central elections since I turned to an adult and the whole experience was quite interesting

💻 completed a bunch of tasks for my internship

💻 made like a super extensive flowchart about all the work done at my internship which took me like a total of 20+ hours T-T 💻 finished preparing my Uni Internship presentation! 💻 submitted the presentation to the assistant guide, waiting on her response to make changes atm

🍶 7+ glasses of daily water intake 🎵 svt's new single is out and I've been going insane about it and thus this challenge comes to an end... I had started this off as an 18day daily habit tracker but then it kind of grew out into a challenge for the month. Special thanks to Yumi the loml <3 (@thelastneuron) for starting the Days of April challenge (Yumi idk when you'll see this but i miss you and I hope you've been kicking ass during your hiatus). also massive thanks to Zip (@zipstidbits) for leaving the kindest comments/tags on my post during the past week and to Tanishka (@booksbluegurl) who is literally the sweetest and has been sending in asks and keeping me company during this challenge <3

there's a lot more i wanna yap about in regards to how the month went but I'll leave that under the tags xD goodnight besties <3

month end brainrot

april started off with dips and more dips but by the end of the month it feels like I've caught up. productivity is a wave so as long as I keep riding at it i'll be okay.

also. progress is cumulative. even the seemingly inconsequential completion of daily tasks has lead to an overall improvement through the week. things add up

I spent a lot of time this month (and moreso this past week) feeling dejected that I've been leaving my tracker posts (and my digital planner entries) incomplete... but like. the whole point of trackers and planners (and this studyblr) is to get work done. work is the priority and the tracking is a means to an end. so if im getting work done that is already a win. yeah... i've had to keep reminding myself that

there is no one-tool-fix for tracking and journalling. what works for planning out one task will not work for the other. I need to strop trying to fit all my plans into one formulaic strategy box

on that note. it's time to return to handwritten journaling. digital journalling (notion + YPT + discord + tumblr) was fun while it lasted <3 but my brain needs novelty again so it's time i switch back. I think I finally have an idea for a system that could be sustainable for me... although I say that every time I switch to a new form of tracking. but hey. as long as it helps me get work done for whatever duration of time, it's good enough

using kpop and kdrama references to make notes and study really paid off. ngl I only did it cause I was super desperate but incorporating stuff I couldn't understand with a topic I really like paid off. It also gave me the motivation and momentum to study for much longer than I otherwise would have

last but not least. my water intake has been really good this month! I've also been eating healthy and I've been cooking more my phone usage has also been reduced by a lot. sure none of them have had a perfect streak but i started at zero and it feels like I've levelled up quite a bit. the exercise component has been a bit difficult to maintain given my workload :/ i need to figure out what to do about that...

yep. that's it for now. this month really tired me out, I think im gonna lay off daily challenges for a while. For now I guess I'll stick to my (bi?tri?)weekly tracker posts xD
