to tumblr’s trans people: I’m getting my first binder soon but I don’t know what brand to use. Which is your favorite? (I’m looking for something with a lot of compression)

edit: I can’t change the poll, but after some research, it seems that gc2b’s binders are incredibly unsafe. Just want to put this here in case another trans guy is looking at this poll. Underworks seems to be the best option as far as I’ve seen from other people.

Update: the green binder has been claimed!

I have two GC2B *4x binders I would like to send out to two trans and/or nonbinary people for free (in the US) or with some help with the shipping cost outside of the US. (Apologies, it’s just so expensive now to mail a package anywhere outside the US 😭)

These have never been worn, but they come from a household with a cat in it, and although they have both been washed thoroughly there is no way to guarantee there is no cat hair contact.

If it is not an option to have these mailed directly to you for any reason, I have no problem shipping to a friend’s address as long as you have their permission to do so.

*As you may notice, the sizing is visibly different regardless of the fact that they are both marked as 4x. These binders are several years apart, and are about two times smaller than the 4x I bought with them a few years previous to the green one. This is something that a lot of folks have noticed with GC2B binders, and part of the reason many people no longer like to buy their products. That being said, I would hate for these to go to waste. If you are interested in these, please consider sizing up! So if you run a size 2x-3x, these would be a safer fit for you than if you’re generally a 4x.

my partner got me a new binder and it fits… beautifully. i haven’t had a chest this flat in a really REALLY long time, it’s the new gc2b 2.0 classic and as somebody with a large chest it works pretty well :3c i love them so fucking dearly t4t love is so pure and good

Gc2b review incoming!

for reference, my measurements are 16.5 across my shoulders, 35 for my bust, DD size breasticles. ordered a medium every time I bought from them. I bought one of their binders in late 2020 and I had to rebuy it later that year due to rippage! the bottom of the binding part ripped about 4-5 months into owning it and I had to re-sew it myself. both of the binders bought in 2020-21 felt like they could rip again while I was putting them on no matter how careful I was about it. Apparently they're remaking their binders with a more durable stitch, so Im here to test that! I just ordered my binder today so I'll be replying to this with an honest review of the 2.0 version when it comes in the mail

hey what binder brand feels the closest to gc2b? my binder’s starting to die on me and i heard gc2b’s been going down in quality recently so i’m planning on switching

i also tried underworks before and their binders feel awful but i have no clue what other brands are safe

Be careful if you dry you binder with a hair dryer!!!

Day 4 of wearing my gc2b binder after not wearing it for months. My back hurts like hell; I can't move or breathe without pain. As soon as I'm out of town I'm taking it off because holy shit, I was not misremebering what it has done to me in the past. If you're thinking of getting a binder, I'd recommend not getting a gc2b binder, if possible.

UPDATE ON GC2B

So about a month ago I got an email from gc2b that they were releasing "classic 2.0" (shown above) that's made to directly address this problem talked about in this post

I bought one of the half binders (mostly because when I bought two previously, one half and one whole, my cropped one split in the side within about a month of wear, but my whole one is still one of my daily binders a year later and hasn't had the same issue)

So far after wearing the new 2.0 for about two weeks fairly regularly, I haven't run into the same issue, and the added stitch does make it feel more durable, however I'll update this if that changes with some longer period wear.

I mention this now, however because with gc2b's pride month sale they aren't super expensive with the discounts, I was able to get mine for about 30-ish bucks after shipping, so if you're in the market for one I'd say it doesn't hurt to go for.

As for the old stock, it sounds like they're going to be phasing out the old single stitch design and replacing it with the new one, and while they haven't yet put out any discounts for getting rid of that stock I would say to keep an eye on it, like i said my tank one never ended up tearing so they wouldn't be too bad a buy in my opinion if they drop prices on them

heyo just a psa: gc2b is not safe anymore. old binders from them are fine but new ones are way lower quality and will almost certainly mess up your ribs (think warping or breaks). don't get binders from amazon because they also tend to be dangerous. underworks seems to have maintained their good ratings, so if you need a binder consider going with them, and remember to always do your own research :D

my review: i have personally used the gc2b binder--i didn't wind up liking it for myself because of the way the compression interacted with my sensory issues (and the heat. omg i was so sweaty in the summer hahaha) but also. i am very sensitive to fabric textures and prefer loose clothing and ngl don't even wear bras at all anymore so it really depends on the interactions between your dysphoria vs your dysmorphia vs your potential sensory objections!

and i'm excited by the new tape product (which btw is $14 per roll at time of posting) so i'm gonna check that out when i can!!!

ps! if you have financial struggles or barriers to gender affirming healthcare that would prescribe a binder for you--there is a donation program with partner organizations in 42 usa states. here's the link! and although this company is based in the usa, they have international partners in many countries!

does trans tape work at all for non plus sized people with large ish chests because i have seen approximately zero people with my sort of body type using trans tape and getting the results that i want

also my binder doesn't work and i can't size down or i will suffocate

to anyone who binds/ wants to bind:

my biggest tip for you is to find a sports bra (or more than one could be good tbh) that you are fairly comfortable wearing. bc if you’re constantly using a binder, even if you take binder break days (which are CRUCIAL!!!) you can still get back pain from wearing binders often:( so having a sports bra that you like and wearing that as much as possible and saving the actual binder/s for “special occasions”/suuuper dysphoric days is something i highly recommend!!!

i used to bind most days of the week with actual binders, and even tho they were good quality (and right size!) it’s gotten to the point where i have back pain most days & i’m wearing a sports bra most days!!

also please please PLEASE do not wear your binder for longer than you should (6/8 hours, absolutely max 12, it varies from person to person-if it hurts, TAKE IT OFF) and remember to stretch!!!

Anyone know what binder brands work best? I bought a gc2b binder 4~ years ago and it's finally shitting out on me, but I hear their quality is shit nowadays and I'm not wanting to shell out $40 for something that I can't use.

I'm looking for mid to high compression and comfort, since I work a pretty active job and want to be able to bind while doing so.
