This page depicts a portion of Starfleet Headquarters, which Joseph imagined as a large staircase in orbit over Earth. This later became, albeit with major design changes, the Spacedock facility seen in various Star Trek films and series since Star Trek lll: The Search For Spock (1984).

Mentor Swap!

Kids swap mentors for a week so they can learn more stuff! I just think it would be fun.

Here's what they learn/try to teach.

Neil and Persephone- There was a reason I had you grow a garden, Neil. Look. You had to work hard, but you made something beautiful.

Atlanta and Ares- You got to watch that temper, kid. I never knew Atalanta, but I knew Achilles really well. He was a friend of mine. His quest for justice, his anger, they got him and a lot of other people killed. There's nothing wrong with convictions. Just think things through before you try starting a war over them.

Archie and Artemis- You're a good kid, but you've got to trust people. You're doing better than Achilles did, but that's not exactly a high bar. What do your friends know about you? That you've told them? Take it from an old woman, life's not worth living unless you're living it with at least one person who really knows you.

Theresa and Hera- You're doing well. You have good ideas and a strong voice. Don't hold your tongue for anyone. Sometimes rocking the boat is what shakes loose the sea monster. We need your good ideas.

Jay and Hermes- You need to let go of somethings Jay. Nobody can do it all. Believe me, you'll just end up burnt out.

Herry and Aphrodite- It's only a little embarrassing, deary. Most people underestimate me and my kids. But there's a reason I've survived so long and that reason isn't that I'm pretty. If there's one thing I want you to learn this week, that's it. You know how powerful love is already, but you see a pretty face and you think it couldn't possibly hide ugly intentions. A beautiful woman couldn't ever be a threat because she wouldn't risk breaking a perfectly manicured nail, right? Talons are beautiful, but they rip the liver out of Prometheus everyday.

Odie and Hercules- I remember Odysseus. He used to think all he had to contribute was that big brain of his. Don't get me wrong, he was a genius, and that saved a lot of lives. But the greatest thing about him, was something that people don't talk about. Something else you inherited from him. You both have good hearts. People love you for that. Here’s an Empires SMP au idea. So they all go to a this extremely prestigious school that is in Animalia, and they are all children of diplomats or other famous people, except for Pix, who got in because of his insanely good grades. I imagine that Joel, Katherine, and Gem are the extremely high class, Fwhip is just below them because I decided that his father was the diplomatically elected king and that fwhip would not inherit the throne after his father passes, then below him is Joey(who’s father defeated Skeletron), Scott(who’s father is the most well known collector in the world, and whose mother is the head of the dye making industry), Shubble(who is the prized pupil of the witch academy, but she can’t perform magic off school grounds until a certain age so even though she finished the entire curriculum she still couldn’t do magic so she was enrolled in this school), Sausage(who’s father is the protector of Sanctuary), and Jimmy(who’s father is the one who enforces the world wide laws and such), then there’s Oli(who’s father is a well known musician), Lizzie(who’s mother is the mayor of Animalia so she got enrolled), and False(who’s father was an incredible architect who recently passed, False already had memory issues and hearing that her father died made her an amnesiac, but she had already been enrolled so she still attended, unaware of who exactly she is), and then finally Pix, who’s mother works in a library and who’s father is a history teacher, he who got enrolled because of his massive brain. I am probably gonna write this but maybe not. Please enjoy this au idea though!

every single time i see someone talk about how the ancients (more specifically the amaurotines, because they always mean the amaurotines) weren't that bad--sure, their society had a few little problems, but overall they were responsible and compassionate and knew what they were doing, and had a good thing going that shouldn't have been interfered with even internally--i think about them turning the violent death of a grieving coworker's disabled daughter, the events of which they mock him for, into a funny story to share around the water cooler.

i think about how someone in a high position of authority, who was in charge of the legal aspect of her existence--of deciding whether she should be euthanized or not, in fact!--ignored blatant red flags for her being sexually abused when he was fully in a position to help. obviously, as fucked as what was happening with meteion was that was not the case. and hermes, i love you. but holy shit is 'haha yeah i made a little girl servant i have complete power over, and didn't register or approve her existence with the government like i'm supposed to. which also would have involved people looking her over. because she's my pet project :)' a REALLY bad look. people should have been investigating him, and the person whose primary job it was to investigate him went 'oh okay, you're an authority figure and i know you so i'll take your word for it :)'

i think about how that authority figure barely remembered she died or even existed, and thought the idea that she could be murdered or should be grieved at all was an odd little thought her quirky dad was self-harming by making such a big deal out of. i think about the fact that these people preen about their ~vigorous intellectual debates~ and ~constructive free exchange of ideas about society,~ and yet after untold thousands of years this idea is such an utterly unthinkable fringe position that supposedly no one has ever heard of it.

like i'm sorry but no amount of pretty parks and sharing and being polite and paying lip service to responsible creation, and speaking nicely to children (sometimes) and meaning well (sometimes), and just generally not being a bunch of malicious mustache-twirling cartoon villains, changes the fact that amaurot was a society of cruel evil selfish bastards who had the power to treat the world like their personal toybox and get away with it. and who are also strongly implied to have been colonizers long before the final days, no less. and it horrifies me how it sails over so many people's heads that the entire point of the Nicey Nice Everyone Shares and Gets Along and is Happy is that it's absolutely fucking terrifying how effective they clearly were at stifling any meaningful accountability, opposition, or reform.

(don't get me started on the take i keep seeing everywhere that the amaurotines are analogous to real-life indigenous genocide victims, oh my god do NOT get me started, jesus wept)

like. this isn't just annoyance over incorrect or kind of insensitive takes. the vast majority of the time when i see people try to defend the ancients, they say with their whole chests a mountain of absolutely horrible things--implied or mask off--about real life issues, and seeing things like this reduced down to 'having a few little problems, but really what society doesn't' is just. upsetting. it is really upsetting and i wish it was not such a constant, and that i could find more people actually talking about the nature of amaurot's fuckery without at best getting immediately derailed into SO YOU'RE SAYING THEY SHOULD ALL BE DRAGGED OUT AND SHOT IN THE STREET, IS THAT IT

all this is to say: setting aside any wider-scale events, it boggles my fucking mind that just for that passage alone the fandom as a whole wouldn't cheer hermes on if he started setting people in his vicinity on fire lmao

Fic idea that lives rent free in my brain but I'll probably never write all of.

A flu starts going around the apartment. To quarantine the kid that get sick, they go to the new Olympus place with their mentors.

Cute fluff and comfort.

Archie runs around trying to help take care of everyone because he can't get sick and now all of his friends are down and out. At one point he brings Atlanta her favorite ice cream and Neil complains about not getting anything. Archie rolls his eyes but brings him some sherbet next time.

Hercules tells them stories to pass the time, Ares is awkward and so bad at this, but somehow unlocks his inner dad and is all, "Are you too hot? Too cold? Stop eating ice cream it will only make you feel worse- oh, it makes you happy? Well, I guess it can't be that bad for you." ect.

Apollo, Chiron, and Hermes make the best medicine so it's not serious.

But then it gets serious.

Archie starts to show some mild symptoms. The medicine stops working. Odie won't wake up.

They aren't sick, they're cursed.

Cue Archie and half the mentor gods/goddesses going on a quest to undue the damage while the other half stay with the kids who just keep getting sicker.

Hurt/Comfort and suspense.
