You were walking to go home as you spotted a flower shop as you said to yourself why not to buy your husband one?

You decided to pick red roses since he loved them and suits him a lot.

After an hour of waiting, your husband as it came home tired and exhausted from work. "I told you, doll, you didn't have to wait for me."

You excitedly hugged him and wanted to see his reaction you're about to give to him.

"I have something to give you..! and a consideration for being a lovable husband."

Chuuya’s eyes opened softly at your words. He was interested now, but he had to ask. His eyebrows raised as he looked at you, a playful smirk coming on to his face.

“Now you have my attention, Doll. What’d you wanna give me~?”

You get the boquet of red roses and giving it to him with a smile

"Ta da..~"

Chuuya’s eyes widened at the sight of the beautiful bouquet of red roses. A thoughtful gift? Such a loving gesture? From his wife? He felt himself growing flustered. He had to stay cool. Had to…

“You got these… for me?” He murmured, his hands reaching out to clasp the bouquet. He then took a long sniff of its potent scent, the roses giving off a lovely, calming and sweet fragrance. A smell that would always be associated with you and you alone.

“Thank you… Doll, but why this suddenly? Just for being a good husband? Isn’t that just… what I’m supposed to be doing?"

"Of course im giving it to you cause i love you..!" you said.

He chuckled and as a blush getting more visible to his cheeks.

"I love you too, doll..." He said and planted a kiss from your lips.

Seeing him with the bouquet of roses making your heart melt... this is such a memory from both of you that impossibly can not forget.

It's finally the day you're going to visit your husband at the Sky Casino, You were all prepared to meet him as you just hope that he's not overworking himself again.

You arrived at the Sky Casino as you forgot something. Right..! Your gift for your husband... you were panicking as you remember you left it on the doorway as you got distracted seeing your sunflowers that you planted grew. As you have an idea to give him something the way you view him.

Finally, you and your husband meet up as he looks tired and worn out. "Dear, i missed you..." He said as he hugged you.

You hugged him back and feeling each others embrace, Sigma felt warm and safe. This is all he could ever want.

"I wanna give you something," you said.

Sigma’s eyes seemed like they would light up at the mention of getting a present.

“Really? What is it?” He asked in a quiet and loving voice.

You gave your husband the sunflower as his eyes widened as he was fascinated by the sunflower.

"Is this... what you planted last month?, It really bloomed beautiful."

"Mhm.. it really reminds me of you..."

You could see the blush that spread across your husband's cheeks, as he said.

“It does? How so?” He asked in a quiet voice as he looked at the sunflower, then you with those grey eyes of his before a small smile spread across his lips.

"Well... even the appearance is not that similar to you, but the way you always make me positive and love me makes me even fall for you even more"

His cheeks turned even redder as he looked at you.

“I-Is that so…?” He asked in a soft and barely audible voice as he blushed. Sigma would then look at the sunflower as he smiled back at you.

“So… this little flower resembles that…?” He asked with a slight smile as he held the sunflower tightly.

“…You know… whenever I have doubts about myself or the casino or sometimes I panic… sometimes even when you are not around… I can hold that flower and remember how much you love me… how much you support me and make me feel special…” He said as he looked at the sunflower with warm eyes.

“…I don’t say this out loud very often… but… I really do love you a lot.” He finished as his lips parted in the softest and cutest smile you've ever seen...

I-.. I love you too. You said, smiling back to him warmly.

As now both of you were flustered by those words you've exchanged to eachother. You were really glad to marry him.

It's been a while since I looked at flowers so here are Marauders era characters as plants:

James Potter: Sunflowers since he's commonly associated with the sun. Or delphinium for positivity and a big heart!

Sirius Black: Ivy, the common ivy, or English or European ivy. It's a symbol of loyalty and fidelity. Fits enough for me.

Remus Lupin: Wolfsbane. Believed to repel werewolves, and it's used in a potion in the Wizarding World. But if we want a less angsty plant there is also the tropical white morning glory. It's also known as a moonflower and symbolizes the ability of beauty to emerge in dark times, and is used to provide hope.

Peter Pettigrew: Burgundy dahlias for betrayal, for obvious reasons. But also purple hyacinths for a desire for forgiveness. Cuz I'm hell bent that Peter was regretful of what he did in canon

Lily Evans: I'm not gonna give her lily, that seems a little too obvious lol but, peonies! They symbolize love, honor, happiness wealth, romance, and beauty. Which yk, works well in my eyes

Mary Macdonald: Poppies for remembrance of the death and consolation. It's based on the headcanon she obliviated herself sometime before to during the first wizarding war because everything was getting too much for her. Also, poppies are used to create opium, which relieves pain. It's pretty sad ngl, that hc always gets me.

Marlene McKinnon: King Protea, it's very sharp-looking flower that symbolizes strength and resilience. Not much info is given about Marlene during the war except her entire family was wiped out, but given her personality in fanon. I imagine she put up a hella good fight. I would give this to Dorcas but I have another one for her.

Slytherins! (Including Pandora!)

Regulus Black: Thorns! Rose thorns mostly, but just thorns in general. From what I read, rose thorns show adversity and sacrifice. Regulus had the misfortune of being born into a family with shit views and never having a morally correct input his entire life and he basically sacrificed his life to bring down the Dark Lord. Thorns are always ways for a plant to deter herbivores from eating them, take that as you will!

Barty Crouch Jr: Bleeding hearts, cuz yeahhhh, everlasting love? Unrequited love?? Tragedy compacted into one. His daddy issues too?? Him pleading for his dad to love him?? HIS MOTHER GIVING UP HER LAST MOMENTS FOR HIM??? EVAN AND REGULUS???? CMON CMONNNNN

Evan Rosier: Venus Fly Trap for persistence. This man was not willing to end up in Azkaban and took Moody's fucking nose with him. Venus fly traps are also known to die right after digestion aka eating a fly so it fits! (I LOVEEE carnivorous plants)

Dorcas Meadows: Laurel leaves for victory and achievement. Specifically, laurel leaves in a wreath. I think it's neat since she was powerful enough that Voldemort had to kill her himself. Mf was takin them out one by one until Voldy decided she was too op. LOVE HER FOR THAT

Pandora Rosier: Not the most hottest flower (lol), but the amaranth, while it could also mean everlasting last love, but it also means hopelessness or hopeless love. This only really works if you see Pandora as a seer. Something I think is interesting is the fact that fate is fate, it's sealed and final, and there is never a way around it. If you try to get around fate, you walk right into it because you never a chance. Pandora as a seer would've saw her friends and classmates dying and can't do anything about it because fate is sealed from the very beginning. It's hopeless.

HOWEVER!! he doesn’t wanna be too basic so he goes for a nice pink instead of the classic red :33 might even go for yellow roses because i firmly believe he’d associate that colour with you. the sunshine of his silly little life !! if he finds out that yellow roses symbolize friendship he’s going back to pink though LMAOO he’ll apologize for friendzoning you too as if he doesn’t regularly call you his bestie …. silly man. i just know he’d get the biggest bouquet of these ever too <33 a whole delivery of roses that completely block your front door so you’re kinda… stuck. with him & his love. lucky you !!

sunflowers kinda goes back to the forementioned point but i just feel like satoru views you as his sun :((( so when he discovers a fresh field of sunflowers he’s like !!!! wow !!!!! wowowow !!!!!! and buys a whole bunch immediately. he’ll be carrying as many sunflowers as he physically can, cradled by his long ass arms, bringing them to you with a big smile on his face <333 they end up reminding you more of him than anything because he’s just beaming when he gives them to you …. sunny sunshine man ,…… and that makes you love them so much more . you never tell him the reason why you suddenly adore sunflowers so much because that would be embarrassing + inflate his ego he would cry a little bit

lillies SENTIMENTAL SATORU HAS JOINED THE CHAT i just think he’s sort of drawn to lillies!! :< like i don’t necessarily think he’d be interested in the symbolism, lillies being associated with purity and whatnot — i think he’s just kind of mesmerized by them. their petals are silky and they smell so sweet and somehow he feels a little sappy to be carrying a bouquet of them around. nostalgic maybe; a little soft. like he’s your husband. even if you aren’t even close to that stage yet… (lillies can also symbolize commitment, which… yk). i just think it makes him feel oddly vulnerable LMAO he’s a loser. gives them to you with a soft smile and a kiss to your forehead <333 he thinks they look right at home in your arms.

roses can’t go wrong with a classic!!! this is his spontaneous choice. the symbolism is obvious, and i think he just. likes the idea of being a rose guy yk… 😭😭 the kinda guy who gives you roses for every single special date !! makes sure there’s always a fresh bouquet waiting for you :33 personally i think he’s a basic bitch but he will continue to buy roses for you unless you tell him otherwise like he’s Very adamant abt it. true love!!! they symbolize true love!!! what else could he give to you? what else is there to say? he wants you to feel loved and special and when he can’t verbalize his love properly he knows the roses in his arms will do the talking for him <333 i think that in the beginning of your relationship your apartment is constantly smelling of roses because of this.. after a while he starts to chill out a bit and gives you other flowers, but you’ll never quite be rid of that floral scent.

camellias this is where he starts to get more creative. maybe satoru calls him basic or boring for always buying roses and suguru huffs and tells him to shut up but it still ends up bugging him LMAO… so !! he does his flower research <333 i firmly believe he would buy a whole book on flower symbolism JUST so he could pick out the most fitting bouquets for you.. he won’t tell you what they mean, though. just gives you a very fond, secretive look when you ask <333 (if you ever figure it out and he gets to see your cute blushing face, then that’s just a nice little bonus.) but yes!!!! camellias!!! a symbol of love and passion and inner strenght. i think he gives them to you with a sentiment of you being his inner strenght…. the reason he’s made it this far. camellias are also said to represent eternal love / everlasting devotion, because the calyx and the petals of a camellia always fall together… and i just think he’s weak for that. he’s like. that’s Us baby <33 but he doesn’t actually say it because that would ruin the subtlety of it all yk?? silly pretentious man…

forget me nots he’s a sentimentalist <333 i think i just associate him a lot with forget me nots bUT it feels very suguru to give you the most blatantly symbolic flowers he can find :’3 he’d give them to you in a small bouquet, but brimming with sooo many feelings and thoughts. the most obvious one is ”don’t forget me,” but i think he’d see it more as a symbol of trust and gratitude. and his own promise to never let you slip from his fingers or take you for granted :(( forget me nots symbolize both true love & devotion and i think that’s all suguru really wants to convey to you!! he’s in love, he’s devoted, you’re burrowed your way so far into his life that he knows he’ll never be able to forget you. and he wants you to know. probably makes it a habit to get you these for every truly special occasion because he never wants you to forget how loyal he truly is to you. sap

Charles realising he's in love with Carlos?

For Charles, it came slowly. Continually building up with every second, minute and hour. With every moment spent together and those spent apart too.

Unlike everything else in his life – hectic, busy and fast fast fast, as fastest as possible, chasing podiums and victories to the exhaustion, till his tyres are scraped and barely able to arrive to parc fermé – this came slowly.

Fast - the word in the first place in his vocabulary. With all the travelling and jumping from country to country, it is almost impossible to find someone that is willing to be part of this lifestyle.

Part of the risk, uncertainty, spotlight, moodswings and thousands things that are hidden under the layers of being Formula 1 driver. His whole life could be summed into this summary – except the love he's feeling right now.

People around the world have different views on this weird, in many cases unexplainable, thing. Some say it is something "fast and uncontrollable, others that's it's "sudden and unexpected."

Charles hasn't experienced any sudden and world-changing realizations that would take his breath away and leave him speechless and unable to do anything for hours, days even. He knows his love for Carlos wasn't expeditious.

If he were to reflect on the situation, he'd tell you he should have seen it coming.

Carlos is explaining something for the Ferrari promo video and Charles only sees him. As if the world around him did not exist - only Carlos' face and his eyes, nose, lips, hair and so many other features that drive Charles crazy.

That's a bit risky – the camera is rolling and the whole world will see him watching Carlos' every move with fond look in his eyes.

He is aware of the soft smile on his lips, smitten. The kind that makes his eyes crinkle at the sides, green eyes betraying him and exposing his feelings to other people around him.

The sun from outside shines into the room and it only defines Carlos' features more. Charles traces his eyes from his luscious locks, down his nose and cheeks dusted with freckles, Charles knows he holds from young age.

Carlos' bottom lip moves a lot when he talks and Charles finds it cute. Endearing. Like everything he associates with Carlos.

"Right?" Carlos directs his attention to Charles. He's smiling. He's so beautiful.

Brown eyes cheerful and mischievous, telling Charles to expect teasing in the near future. Carlos has been trying everything to make him giggle, since the start.

I love you.

"You're correct," he answers, no clue what he's agreeing to. It's an ad, he has to agree to everything either way.

Carlos' right eyebrow twitches for a milisecond in a silent question. Are you okay?

Charles smiles back at him, sending a slightest nod his way. I'm okay.

Warm hand – oh so warm, spreading heat down Charles' back with every touch and brush of its fingers on his skin – clasps him on the shoulder. Carlos' fingers squeeze him, harder than necessary. Another silent conversation between them.

Carlos briefly caresses his left shoulder blade with his fingertips.

I love you. I love you so much.

Charles can't stop looking at him. Thinking how much he wants to end this video and just soak in every drop of Carlos' attention. Turn towards him like he's the sun and Charles is the sunflower chasing the warmth. Feel warm and loved, even without saying it and revealing the most vulnerable part of him. Because Carlos always makes him feel like that.

there's no restrictions, up to personal preference. it can be based on flower symbolism, aesthetic, your own scenarios, or based on said character's backstory.

could you explain if it's a little complicated? so i can draw with a better guideline rather than going on pure imagination.

I actually don't have many bsd characters I associate with particular flowers but I am obsessed with hanakotoba so here we go!!

Chuuya: You guessed it, camellia. It's not my fault he's always surrounded in camellias in official arts + the Japanese meaning of the flower, 'noble death' really suits him, given his personality. I also associate him with red daisies (I just feel like it) and freesia (flower language: trust and friendship!)

Dazai: Oh boy I'm about to get very annoying so bear with me. I associate Dazai with multiple flowers. First, sunflowers! I don't know if this is part of flower language but you know how sunflowers are always following the sun right? Constant inclination towards the light, just like current Dazai. Yes, he has his ups and downs, and yes, he's unsure of his own actions sometimes, but he'll never turn away from the light Odasaku pointed him towards. That's why I think sunflowers suit him. ADA Dazai is VERY dear to me.

I also associate him with daffodils for its flower meaning, rebirth and new beginnings. PM Dazai is sakura to me because of its contradictory meanings (life and death, beauty and violence).

Kunikida: Gladiolus! Because it means strength of character and moral integrity. Kunikida is also one of the few bsd characters with the strongest characteristics, in my opinion.

Kenji: Sunflower again, simply because it suits him (both flower language and aesthetic. I've seen so many art of Kenji with sunflowers and they make me so happy)

Atsushi and Kyouka: I associate both of them with daffodils, again, for it's flower meaning. Atsushi specifically with white lilies too, just because they match his aesthetic.

Fyodor: Black lilies. Because they mean beauty, mystery and death. Also the aesthetics suit him.

Yosano: Iris! They symbolize elegance, strength and admiration in Japanese and I've seen an art of Yosano standing in an iris field once and it stuck with me ever since.

Soukoku: I associate these bitches with too many flowers but I'll give you the ones I think of the most after the recent events. Manjushage or spider lilies, because they mean 'final goodbye' and asters because they mean 'I won't forget you' :)

Meet me in the sunflower field at noon. -Cora 

You yawned and wiped the sleep out of your eyes, reading over Rosinante’s note to you two more times before you fully understood its purposeful vagueness. Your head snapped up to look at the clock beside your bed, only able to breathe half a sigh of relief before you realized you only had an hour to get ready and make it to the other side of Dressrosa. 

“Shit!” You exclaimed, peeling off your pajamas on your way to the bathroom. 

You ran through your morning routine as fast as you could, making sure your transponder snail was always close at hand in case Rosinante found a place to sneak off and call you. In the back of your mind you couldn’t shake the worry that he’d called you out to a secluded place to deliver bad news, but you let your hope lie in it being a date. You couldn’t remember the last time either of you had enough down time to do much more than flop into bed together at the end of the day, much less go on a proper date. 

You could still remember the first day you’d met Rosinante—Doflamingo had found you a few days prior, offering you a place in his family in exchange for a fraction of the fortune you’d amassed on your home island. Your desire for adventure had overtaken any qualms you had about sharing your wealth, and you’d joined him without so much as a look back. He’d taken you back to meet the rest of your new crew, letting you mingle with the members while he attended to his own business. 

You hadn’t noticed Rosinante at first, too wrapped up in trying to make a good impression to see more than the people right in front of you. But eventually you found your eyes trailing over to him, the conversations around you falling away until you heard a “who’s he?” tumbling from your lips. You learned that he was Corazon, Doflamingo’s right hand man who never said much of anything. They were certain no one but Doflamingo had ever heard him speak, yet you suddenly felt determined to prove them wrong. You tried to talk to Rosinante nearly every day after your arrival, but you never even got so much as a note in return. You tried not to get discouraged, but it seemed like he wanted nothing to do with you. 

So you gave up. You abandoned your quest in favor of working your way up the ranks, becoming one of the best associates Doflamingo had in a matter of months. Then suddenly, a note.

Meet me on the edge of Dressrosa. We need to talk. -C

From that moment on, you and Rosinante were inseparable. You spent every moment you could together, sneaking off to places family members would never think to look, all so you could hear the warm sound of his voice. It was months before he told you he had a devil fruit power, using it to create a bubble of silence so he could ask you out.

You smiled to yourself as you walked through the streets of Dressrosa, remembering every tender moment that had led you to the present. You slipped out toward the sunflower fields, nervous excitement buzzing through your body.

Rosinante was easy to spot, his towering form poking up from between the flowers. He was seated beneath a tree, a picnic lunch spread out in front of him. He beamed at you, waving as you sat across from him.

“I hope my note didn’t make you too worried.”

“I just didn’t want to be late.” You laughed softly, looking down at the assortment of foods he laid out. “Did you make all of that?”

“What? Oh no, no way. I tried and nearly burned down half the kitchen.”

“Are you okay?” Your brows furrowed, a hand reaching out to check Rosinante’s for any burns or cuts.

He nodded, turning your hands over to clasp between his. He carefully leaned over the food to kiss you, his makeup smeared when he pulled away. He looked so beautiful to you, his hazel eyes illuminated by the afternoon sun, his large hands holding on so tightly to yours. He gave your hands a little squeeze, letting go so the two of you could start on the food before the inevitable call from Doflamingo.

“I hope you like everything. I tried to get as many of your favorite foods as I could find.”

You smiled and nodded, picking up one of the mini sandwiches and taking a bite. “It’s all perfect, Rosi. Thank you.”

Rosinante blushed at the sound of his name, the name that only you could call him. He’d been so hesitant to reveal his true name and his past to you, though you had a feeling there was still something he was hiding from you. You had decided long ago that you’d never pry, knowing it would just be easier to enjoy the time you had with him rather than worry about what the future might hold.

You passed the time in quiet conversation with Rosinante, catching up on everything you had missed in each other’s lives. You could find yourself getting lost in the lilt of his voice, letting it fill your heart with love and warmth. He spoke so gently, betraying the nature assigned to him by the things he did. This, the man sitting across from you with a tea cake between his hands, was the real Donquixote Rosinante. To everyone else Corazon was merely a code name, but to you it was a representation of the heart that he wore on his sleeve.

“I love you, you know that, right?” You said suddenly, usually not so forward with your words.

Rosinante looked up, slightly startled. “Of course I do, (Name). Is something wrong?”

“No, no, everything’s perfect!” You took his hand in yours, looking tenderly into his eyes. “I just don’t ever want you to think I don’t.”

Rosinante smiled. “No matter what I’ll always know that you love me. And I hope that you know that I love you too. No matter where I go, you’ll always be the one I’ve given my heart to. Don’t ever forget that, okay?”

You leaned forward and kissed him, slipping your hands up the side of his face. You were as happy as you had ever been, full of a love you hoped would never leave. When you pulled away you could see red dusting his cheeks, and love-drunk smile on his face.

“I won’t forget. I promise.”

Something that happens in act 3 that I can't tell you because spoilers :3 But also, one of her parents died when she was 7-8, so that too.

Omg lol you cannot look at Sasha and make assumptions. Literally everything about them is probably not what others on the island would expect. You wouldn't expect her strong water-bending ability (particularly that she's better at actual bending of it more so than other water-based skills).

3. What is your OC's fatal flaw? Are they aware of this flaw?

Well, that her entire identity is pretty wrapped up in something that isn't forever, something that can be lost. And she becomes aware of it as the story progresses.

I would say maybe a moment or two of freeze, but then fight. Certainly not flee.

Her moral compass is very much tied to her loved ones and her personal loyalties. If you could convince her that the thing you want her to do is to help/save a loved one, that would align with her compass, and she would be immediately convinced. But outside of that? Probably not.

7. What's one way your OC has changed since you first came up with them?

Hmm not too much? Pronouns changed, because I redid some worldbuilding and changed everyone's pronouns, essentially. But in terms of her character arc and general personality, nope! Pretty consistent.

8. Would your OC ostensibly be able to get away with murder?

Yeah, for sure.

Sunflowers are one of my favourite flowers and lately ive been thinking of a yooran fic where ray compared yoosung to a sunflower (in the sense that he associates yoosung with sunflowers) and he also says that the way sunflowers follow the sun is similar to the way yoosung follows rika and this keeps on rotating in my head. Do u think yoosung is like a sunflower

First ship fic, whaaat? Anyways, I don't really ship Yooran, but I do think there is a whole lot to explore with their potential dynamic. I know this was probably requested as in Yoosung being in place of MC as a tester, but I decided to take it into a more darker and grounded in canon territory. That is, Mint Eye effectively winning, and taking the rest of the RFA into its ranks. It is also kind of one-sided, but it was definitely a fun little challenge for me to write!

There are now flowers for each of them in this garden.

The reason was a rather straightforward one. The garden simply couldn't be completed without all of Rika's most beloved friends, who she longed to see by her side so badly. With each new member slowly coming to accept true happiness into their hearts, the garden bloomed fuller and brighter. And how could it not? Rika believed that the garden resembled any living creature on this Earth. It needed care, nourishment, and company to grow big and strong in order to survive against the harsh mountain winds and colds. It would grow sad when it was neglected and abandoned, and it would grow happy when it was being cared for and loved.

And now, finally, the garden has been fully completed. Blooming beautifully in the soft moonlight. A living proof of Rika's success in building a prosperous and thriving paradise for all who felt abandoned by the cruel world outside of these secluded walls.

Bluebells for Zen.

Violets for Jaehee.

White chrysanthemums for Jumin.

And sunflowers for Yoosung.

All of them were together now. Blooming and growing happily among the daffodils that were always present in this garden. They are a constant reminder of its selfless creator.

On the other hand, Mr. Ray was a mystery to Yoosung. He was the one who led them all to the truth hidden behind those traitors' many lies, along with MC as his helpful assistant. He was the one who welcomed them to paradise first and guided them into Rika's loving emrace that would open them up to true happiness. And he was the one protecting them all.

Yet, they rarely, if ever, saw him after that. Of course, he was preoccupied with his duties. His contribution to Magenta's prosperity was almost as great as Rika's. But, out of everyone, Yoosung found himself growing ever more curious of the man that his cousin has trusted so much.

He was still unaware of so many things. It was fortunate that Rika was so understanding and considerate of all of them. She didn't scold him once for being too noisy: simply smiling and informing him that she is more than happy to arrange a shared activity for them to bond over.

As long as he doesn't interfere with their work schedule, that's fine by her.

That's how they ended up taking care of the many flowers in this rather huge garden. Yoosung would be completely lost if it weren't for Ray, who gracefully whirled through the many narrow paths sprinkled throughout the flower-filled grounds, like it was his second nature. His steps were one of confidence and precision, and it was hard not to admire him for his excellence.

It was almost a bit of a challenge to try and keep up with him, without losing sight of his magenta blazer in all the other bright colors surrounding them from all sides.

"-Savior has stated that we should check on the pink roses. She's worried some pests might have damaged them from the last time she visited them." Ray's voice was firm and measured as he instructed over his shoulder. Yoosung always found it odd how he spoke to Rika and the rest of the believers in a completely different way. Not to mention MC. It's like he was a completely different person altogether, depending on who he was speaking to. Still, he would be lying if he said he didn't like this confident and measured way of speaking. It made it easy to just let go and follow his lead without thinking much, if at all.

"Pests? I thought we had a few gardeners to take care of the garden?"

Ray scoffs, walking through the flowery bushes at a quick pace, making Yoosung hurry after him. "It would be a shame if their incompetence made Savior upset."

The conversation was not very pleasant, to say the least.

Yoosung sighs as silence resumes between them once more. It's evident that Ray is only doing this because Rika instructed him to. He can't help but wonder why is Ray so disinterested in anything that has to do with them. The only times he has ever seen him get emotionally invested in something, is when he saw him talking to MC next to his workroom, as well as his meetings with Rika. Yet, to the rest of the believers, Ray appeared almost indifferent and cold in his approach.

He decides to take a chance by initiating a conversation on his own accord. Looking at Ray, who had been examining a leaf of the particular rose, it seemed that his attempt had been successful. As, the man paused, his gaze darting off to the side for a moment, before he straightened up again.

"Yes, that is correct. Savior had that in mind since the moment the first flower has been planted. Magenta's garden couldn't be completed without you all here by her side."

Yoosung's heart froze. He was aware that Rika had never left them, of course. Not really. But, to hear the confirmation of her always wanting to reunite them one day... it made him smile.

He will always be thankful to her for exposing him to the truth.

He couldn't resist his curiosity. Taking a small step towards the white-haired hacker, he brought up the question that had been on his mind for some time now. "Is there a flower that represents... me?"

Ray returns his gaze, as if he were observing him silently. Despite this, his expression remained neutral. He nods, folding his arms behind his back as he stands to face him. He almost looked like a prince, standing with his back straight like that. "There is. There is a flower for each of you."

"Can I see it?" Instantly, Yoosung perks up and takes another step closer, almost instinctively.

Ray quirks a brow, a slight change in his expression that didn't escape Yoosung's attention. Was he taken aback? Curious? Or maybe just annoyed with him getting nosy instead focusing on the job? It was difficult to read. Ray was like a book that was closed tightly, with its cover blank or fully scratched out, preventing you from even reading its title, much less its contents. Yet, for some reason, Yoosung found himself wanting to read that book more and more with each passing day.

Nodding, the hacker instructs the other man to follow him with a quick shake of his head. "I suppose the Savior wouldn't mind you learning of that."

As they walked, Yoosung was deeply in thought. What is it that made him so interested in Ray? It's not like they worked together. Or even knew one another. Their ranks were all they had.

Oh, but he was aware of the reason.

Ray was by Rika's side during those years when they were apart. He was the one who knew so many things that Yoosung didn't.

There was a part of him that felt guilty and ashamed. Rika has given them everything they need to know. She has provided them with the whole truth about that liar V and that traitor Luciel. She has given them what nobody else could. Eternal happiness.

Yet, despite everything, another small part of him, the tiniest, quietest part of him, was still in desperate need of answers.

And they were all in Ray's possession.

"-There they are."

He was so lost in his thoughts that he almost bumped into the other man's back, making him scurry off with an embarrassed flush to his cheeks. Ray either didn't notice his clumsy stunt or didn't care about it. Yoosung followed his gaze to the flowers his attention was directed at.

He squints and raises his brows in confusion. "Sunflowers?"

Ray nods. "Sunflowers represent many things. But, they mostly hold the meaning of lasting happiness and loyalty."

He seemed quite knowledgeable about the topic. Yoosung came up to the large flowers, his fingers tracing over the stem of one of them thoughtfully. Lasting happiness and loyalty... is that how Rika thought of him? Such a sentiment made him smile.

What made him believe V's shameless lies in the first place? Of course she never died. He knew it in his heart.

"There is... more to it, though."

Ray adds, his voice sounding quieter this time around.

"More?"

The other man is now standing close to him, their shoulders touching ever so slightly. Ray doesn't seem to notice or think anything of it, but Yoosung finds himself becoming rather flustered at the sudden proximity, staring up at the hacker with a light blush dusting his cheeks.

"Sunflowers always follow the sun, wherever they turn. With no exceptions, no setbacks. My Savior told me that their unwavering loyalty to the sun reminded her of you. And, once you joined our paradise, she knew for sure that you will never stray from her." Ray turns to look at him in the eyes, his gaze strangely methodical. It causes him to gulp nervously. "-Sunflowers are lost without their sun. They cannot survive without its guidance. A sunflower without its sun there to tell it where to look, is lost and wilted. It will continue to wilt in misery until its sun comes back to show it where to turn."

Yoosung's breath grows shaky. He may have been bad at catching allegories, but this one was pretty on the nose. It left behind a bitter taste in his mouth.

"...I suppose a sunflower really is... my flower."

For some reason, that admission felt heavy in his gut. Like a bag of rocks settling deep within his body, pulling him down with their weight.

"You should be grateful that our Savior will always be there to guide you from now on. You will never feel the absence of her gentle hand again. Isn't that what you always wanted? To be told what to do."

"...Savior is too kind."

(Archive) Animated movie of the day: Fantasia (1940)

Originally posted: January 4th, 2022 Walter Elias Disney, a controversial man in life and legacy. A businessman at heart, selling an illusion to audiences he so called magic, and tried to hide many of his lesser traits and allegiances throughout his life. Nonetheless, if there's one thing I can actually admire about the man is that he respected animation as a medium, and this is reflected in one of his passion projects: the unprecedented masterpiece that is Fantasia.

A joint work between the Walt Disney company, professional critic Deems Taylor as the Master of Ceremonies and Leopold Stokowski in the direction of the Philadelphia Orchestra, this anthology of classical music with animation of different styles and flavors ranges from abstract and surreal imagery, to the whimsical, frightening and sublime when it comes to the more defined storytelling of other segments. Music from Bach, Tchaikovsky, Dukas, Stravinsky, Bethooven, Ponchielli and Mussorgksy is featured, each as their own dedicated short, along with a small intermission where a sound track is given characterization.

The end result is a highly varied compilation of shorts with both subtle and stark differences in art direction, and a very experimental approach to what animation is about. In many, many ways it was impressively ahead of it's time, which only makes it's dissapointing performance at the box office back in the day all the more saddening.

This isn't to say everything about it is timeless or feels contemporary. While still a remarkable achievement of animation, where just short of 80 years later it's still engrossing and impressive, instances like the now cut character of Sunflower in the Pastoral Symphony segment reflect the ugly, racist side of American culture at the time. There's other less insulting but still dated bits, like how Taylor claims nobody performs the Nutcracker ballet anymore. Yeah, right. Even so, for any animation enthusiast it's a must watch.

Honestly, this movie gives so much to talk about for an animation enthusiast. I think it warrants writing some thoughts about each segment.

Toccata and Fugue in D Minor(Johann Sebastian Bach): A powerful musical piece to start, but visually speaking it's not the strongest opening. While I do appreciate(immensely I might add) that Disney did NOT go for the stereotyped scary imagery associated with this piece but instead something more sublime (given the dynamic range the toccata actually offers), the abstract imagery doesn't necessarily lend anything substantial to the music, even when it goes from dark places to the very heavens. That is, when the animation actually starts, since a not so small segment of the short is the performers shot in silhouette. Stokowski's arrangement of the piece isn't the most evocative version of this musical milestone either.

Still, on a technical level, the animation is remarkable, and given the significant shifts in the musical structure they did what they could.

Nutcracker suite(Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky): While the narrative is less abstract, it's certainly not very defined either. The animation, however, is much more evocative and beautiful to look at, with soft movements of ballet like quality; all too fitting for the piece.

Given it is associated to a narrative that is already well defined, the animators pretty much gave themselves a challenge by pursuing a significantly different direction that, while still using imagery related to fairies, it has a focus entirely put on the beauty of nature. Giving flowers and mushrooms alike anthropomorphic qualities but also allowing them to just move at the pace of the wind, the effects animation here is as stunning as it is educational for any aspiring animator. Colorful and soft, it's just a visual delight.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice(Paul Dukas): By far the most popular and well known segment of the film, this short based on a poem from Goethe puts Mickey Mouse in the role of said apprentice under the guide of Yen Sid(subtle reference right there). The irony of the impressionist piece being the first one to get a proper narrative aside, this short is still as charming as ever was.

While the effects animation isn't any less remarkable(in fact, my hat goes off for all those involved in the water animation of this segment), the pressence of Mickey Mouse and the broom make the character animation be the star of the show this time, and it still holds up. It goes all the way to show the power of well composed body language that you can follow the story even without Taylor's prior introduction.

Rite of the Spring(Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky): A piece from the only composer that was still alive to see the film(who also GREATLY disliked the interpretation of his piece, calling the performance execrable) this is a valiant effort of wordless stoytelling with creatures of minimal anthropomorphic qualities.

While Taylor's introduction already hammers in the era in which this was made(he has to tiptoe around calling scientific observations "facts" to not get flak from conservative Christians), the representation of dinosaurs is anachronistic and dated as well, so is the vagueness of what destroyed them(the crater of the meteor that caused their mass extinction wasn't discovered until 1978).

Still. the segment creates genuine feelings of menace from the Tyrannosaurus Rex, and the effects animation is still remarkable(special mention goes to the magma and the smoke, even though fire doesn't look quite right in some shots). It does what it sets to do in presenting the power of nature.

--- Intermission/Meet the Soundtrack: The brief jazz number by the orchestra is nice, and honestly, the Sound track is pretty adorable for a non descriptive collection of shapes. It's also impressive how they managed to give different sounds visual abstract equivalents.

Pastoral Symphony(Ludwig van Beethoven): The only part of Disney's Movie canon to feature female nudity along with the Night on Bald Mountain segment(at least until later rereleases), it's whimsical depiction of Greek Mythology still manages to be more accurate to the source material than future endeavors of the company such as Hercules, humorously enough. The greek gods weren't nice people, and this segment has some fun with that(remember kids, Zeus is a jerk). The extremely simple love story between the centaurs is still wholesome though, and the imagery is very creative.

The animation complexity of this short lead to some small animation errors but you're not gonna notice if you're not looking for them. It also has in my opinion the most beautiful backgrounds of the film, rivalled only by some segments of the naturalistic beauty of the Nutcracker Suite.

--- Dance of the Hours(Amilcare Ponchielli): Charmingly innocent in a way that it's not seen very often anymore, it uses it's ballet roots in a fairly literal fashion by making a ballet number with different species of animals representing different hours of the day. The body language of these animals is just brilliant, they're expressive, carry a well defined movement to each one(that isn't realistic but definitely distinctive) and there's something inherently comical about how they dance, even when they do it effectively.

Honestly given the premise of the ballet this is the one short where I'd have gone abstract. I can't complain though, since the humorous gags and silly imagery just make it a sincerely funny experience, albeit not the most remarkable among the anthology(plus, female ostriches don't have the black and white plumage, but let's not get too nitpicky here).

--- Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria(Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky/ Franz Peter Schubert): Try to act surprised when I tell you the spooky segment is my favorite part of the movie. At the same time, however, I think it's warranted in this case. Horror is not something animation was known for back in the day. Even if movies like Pinocchio had some remarkably dark imagery, the medium in general was being pushed towards this kid oriented market, so this short was in many ways daring. And the end result both hits the mark with the fear and also happens to deliver one of the more complete narratives in the film. It's not just about the spooks, but the catharsis afterwards.

Chernabog(or as it is referred by Taylor, Satan himself) has such a commanding presence it's overwhelming. Even if you don't find him scary you WILL remember his face, full of wickedness and evil(Vladimir Tytla's animation of the character is one of the biggest achievements in the entire film, which is saying something). The imagery is adequately hellish as well, thanks to a masterful art direction that brings the shadows of Walpurgis night to life. The use of experimental animation techniques helped as well, with the ghosts requiring some clever use of distorted mirrors to create. And the release from the nightmare with the Ave Maria, which was the most demanding shot for the animators at the time(and not just on this project but maybe in animation as a whole at that point)? The perfect cap for a movie that made history for good reason.

So yeah, that's Fantasia. Man, that was a long one.

In fact, her looks often leave those who seek to capture her unaware of how big a threat she truly is. She is reckless and relentless with a single minded determination. The story starts out as a quest for a man but evolves into one of camaraderie between the titular characters. TBH I'd love more WOC led action series/suggestions.

Samurai Champloo (series)

I almost added Samurai Champloo to this list instead but I'm glad I held out. It's a great addition to this list, I just happened to find the fight sequences to be particularly beautiful and the soundtrack is stellar. Fuu embarks on a mission to find a samurai who smells of sunflowers with Mugen and Jin begrudgingly in tow. While Mugen and Jin manage to stave off their animosity toward one another to work together as her body guard, they manage to make new and exciting trouble along the way. With Fuu's quest driving each of them forward, all three of them are forced to to come to terms with their separate pasts on their journey together.

Gangsta. (series)

See those tags up close and it just may be the last thing you see so let that be a warning. Nico and Worick are handymen who specialize in doing the dirty work no one else is really capable of doing. In a city overrun with corruption and sin, they play their role to maintain a sense of balance for those around them. So when a new force rears its head in Ergastulum, causing trouble for their esteemed contacts, they handle it the only way they know how. By any means necessary.

Banana Fish (series)

I try to keep recommendations diverse so the fact that this series wound up on this list before then ending up on this list of favorite characters...? It so squarely fits into this genre, it can't be avoided and it's so captivating. Ash, 17-year old gang leader, is entangled in a conspiracy that grows larger and larger by the day. Having spent too much of his life under the thumb of a large mafia boss, he navigates the rotten underbelly of gangland New York tracking down the origin of a strange drug that made its way to his turf. The very same mafia boss threatens his freedom and life the closer he gets to the truth. Despite the growing dangers associated with exploring this rabbit hole of a drug, his resolve doesn't waver. Where some of these shows tend to burn brightly and fade from your recollection over time, this is definitely one that stays with you (if the rest of my blog is any indication). ⚠️ Pay attention to trigger warnings!

Cowboy Bebop (series + OVA)

Bounty hunters have the benefit of no one digging too deeply when you show up to collect on an even shadier guys outstanding bounty. Cowboy Bebop pulls back the curtain on the lives of Spike, Jet and Faye as they barely skate by on what little bounties they're able to collect on. The bonds that keep them together are tenuous and it's not always clear what side of the law they're really on. While the show seems relatively easygoing and without a larger mission, eventually everyone has to answer for what drove them to be a bounty hunter in the first place.

Akame Ga Kill! (series)

Filed under: "I love the kind of woman that will actually just kill me", "Don't get too attached" and "That first episode tho 👀" To say the story follows Tatsumi would be a bit misleading, especially considering the titular character is so obviously Akame. Nonetheless, the series kicks off with kind and naive Tatsumi, hoping to raise money for his village, separated from his childhood friends when bandits strike. Finding himself far from the kindness of his village, he becomes ensnared in a greater scheme to combat corruption in the Capital between two opposing forces the Night Raid and the Empire.

Filed under: "I love the kind of woman that will actually just kill me" Age old story of a man who's transfigured into a reptile works to exact revenge and remember who he was before the transfiguration by kicking lots of ass. This show takes enemies to lovers a bit literally. It's basically the product of what happens when an unstoppable force (Ryang-Ha the assassin) meets an immovable object (Chateau the bounty hunter). I think they call that the irresistible force paradox. So it goes as Ryang-Ha develops a quick and inexplicable fondness for someone who continues to be a rival and threat to his livelihood. Begrudgingly, Chateau entertains his whims as a means to an end but, eventually, the cost of keeping his company gets to be a little too pricy...

Guide to requesting from and coining for this blog!

Let's start with some general rules:

Be kind and curdious, don't harass others, don't comment on others requests negatively

Coiners; you do not have to "sign up" with me to coin things, these requests are open to everyone. You do have to wait for my approval for your claiming to be considered, this is just so we don't have two people claim the same thing at the same time and fight over it.

Specify if you want a coiner of a specific identity to coin any closed-culture genders/Combos/etc that includes a culture ( if your ok with anyone making a flag for a two spirit based identity then say so but if you only want Cherokee people making a flag for your asegi + lesbian combo then you also say so)

If you do not specify wether or not you want another, for example, native American making your native American + gay flag, it will be assumed that you don't mind wether the coiner making the flag is native American or not.

Feel free to spam multiple asks but please only put one request per ask!

Don't:

Request through comments, reblogs, dms or submissions. It's tough to keep the blog organized that way ^^;

Basically describe the flag you desire where a coiner couldn't take any artistic liberties. If your flag appearance request is basically an image id, it's too much ^^;

Request that a specific coiner/ a coiner with a particular belief makes your flag, the whole point is accessibility (this excludes coiners coining race/ethnicity specific identities)

Request genders/identities/etc with more than 15 factors.( Example: a xenogender that is related to rain, fog, mist, thunder and lightning is fine because it's only 5 factors but if the individual factors exceed 15, it gets long, confusing and overly complicated ^^; your gender is cool but @ mogai-sunflowers has a blog specifically for those.)

Get upset that a flag may not looked the way you specifically wanted it to or wasn't made by someone you completely agree with then redemand it, insult the coiner, etc. This may get you blocked

Request something here that you requested on a different blog, double-requesting may result in a block.

A bad enough violation of these guidelines/3 violations to your name as a requester may result in a block.

Dos and donts for coiners/coining guidelines:

Do:

Claim the request via ask, comment on the ask or reblog ( reblogging asks/requests as a form of claiming them is temporarily unavailable due to technical difficulties)(more explained in link)

Tell this blog if you can't do a request you previously claimed so that it can be claimed and completed by someone else. There's no shame in having to give up a request! Your name will not be associated with the request publicly, only I will know you are filling that request until you actually post it.

Understand requests are first come, first serve. If someone contacted me just before you, they will get it. If they have to drop it, it will go to you next.

Feel free to take inspiration from a request but not coin it exactly. If it's essentially the request, we'd prefer you claimed it to avoid doubles genders/etc but if your coining with some heavy rewording/adding or taking a way a factor/etc, there's no need to source us/the requestor.

Wait for my go ahead before posting/attempting to claim/complete a request, we don't want fights over requests or doubles and it gives me time to update all nessesary links.

Don't:

Claim the request via dms.

Change the wording, remove factors, add factors or change the meaning behind the request. Fixing Grammer or slight rewordings are ok but if you don't like that a request includes something or feel it should include something else, don't claim it. (Ex: changing a request that says fire and ice to ice and fire is alright because maybe you forgot the wording which isnt intentional but taking a request that says twink bi and change it into twink bi+/twink mspec/twink pan/etc that is a violation)

Claim a request then allow it to sit uncoined/unposted for a period exceeding 1 month. Putting it in your queue is not an excuse, please post it.

Make flags with closed symbolism, black triangles, or other harmfully originating/closed imagery.

I saw that you shared a screenshot of the draft of the royalty story and I noticed that you are working with smaller margins in your document. I just realize that it would help me if I do the same (because of Tumblr's phone format). This is really clever. Can you tell me exactly what is the size of these margins?

Also, do you have any useful tips like that that could help me as a new author on Tumblr? What do you do exactly when you are ready to post a story? (Headliners, image, etc.)

I'd be happy to share more of my process in case it helps you with anything. Though just a quick disclaimer: this is how I do things, and isn't universal or for everyone.

With that being said, info dump under the cut!

1.) writing the thing✨

For brainstorming ideas, I use the notes app on my phone. For the fics themselves, I write on google docs! I like it because it works both on my phone and pc.

I have a specific format, but it's not actually the margins that I change. I write with the pages halved using columns! These are how my files look like on pc:

You can do this by going Format > Columns > 2! I like to write in TNR 12 like a research paper lol. (Though, I can't remember if you can do the columns on the docs app, because everything looks like it's just one column there. But once you set a doc in this format, you can just duplicate the file and it'll still show up with columns on pc.)

Like you said, this helps me gauge how a fic will look like on mobile, since that's where most people are reading. It also helps my peace of mind since a full, blank page without columns can be a bit intimidating. It can feel like you have to fill up the entire thing, when you really don't!

Another brilliant thing about google docs (on pc) is that, if you use italics or bold in the file, when you copy paste it onto Tumblr, it retains those italics and bolds. This saves me so much headache and I consider it a lifesaver.

2.) formatting (and by extension, branding)✨

I feel like this is really vital on Tumblr, since an established aesthetic can help readers remember and recognize your blog better. My advice would be to pick one or two colors and always use them on your posts.

You can also pick an emoji and use that with your aesthetic! For example, I associate the sunflower emoji 🌻 with the wonderful @songsofadelaide. (hi Mari! hihi)

If you want to use them, have a default divider. Mine is just a png of a blue line haha, but you can get creative with it. Though I suggest you keep the photo thin so that it doesn't eat up too much space.

Off the top of my head, I think the most important things on a post are: the title, header, and preview. (I'll make a separate point for preview since it's a lot.)

TITLE : Self explanatory!

HEADER : A header does more than make the post look pretty, it helps you differentiate fics when Tumblr only shows you the fic thumbnails on archive or on notifs. I have a folder of manhwa screenshots that I save for headers, and I add an overlay with my blog's signature color using a drawing app. Gifs are also fine as headers, though I don't personally use them because gifs make Tumblr crash on my phone sfhlsdjfkl, but that's just me!

3.) the preview ✨

(I don't think preview is the official term for this, but it's what I've started to call it.)

When I say preview, I'm talking about everything below the header and above the fic. Mine looks like this:

It's up to you what you want to add, but I would say to always keep the blurb/short summary, genre, and word count. Everything else is optional, and you can play with whatever suits your style best.

For the blurb, you can go one of two ways: keep it short, or go more in-depth with the summary.

If you keep it short: One sentence is the best, but two should also be okay. It doesn't have to summarize the whole fic, but give a preview of what readers can expect from your work. I use my blurbs to hook in readers, then use the content notes to make up for what I didn't add in the blurb. If you go in-depth: This would be a standard summary, and you can get away with not needing content notes.

AH. Can't believe I almost forgot, but always add warnings and MDNI tags if your fic needs them! (Some people also use a banner for warnings. Search 'mdni banner' on Tumblr and you'll see examples.)

Once you have a preview format you want to stick with, always use it and keep it consistent! I have a draft with just my preview format so I can just copy paste it whenever I post a new fic.
