With your thoughts on evil Emmet, what about the opposite? Where Emmet takes his lost and while still wanting to find him(or I seen some version where he is in the acceptance phase) takes up a bigger position to both do so and to not let this happen to others. I seen some where he joins the police interpol or even one where he becomes mayor, but I think my favorites are when he decides to become Unova’s Champion.
I think that fits more align with his character than just “he becomes evil out of grief” since both his fights in games and Masters show he does really care about the people around him. He also has his line about loving winning more than anything, basically confirmed to be champion leveled, and his theme in the original was Alder’s theme. If there was ever a Black and White 3 or Emmet’s character were to get big development, I think something like that fit better and be more interesting than another evil trope. But what do you think?
(Also as an autistic person, thank you for touching on ableism, even for a moment)
So valid, anon! You've basically described my favorite route for Emmet after Ingo disappeared. He has the skill, the charisma, the pokemon and he definitely has the motivation. Not only would becoming champion give him a bigger reach in his search for Ingo, it would also be a way to come to terms with what happened. The changes.
I say out with the villain trope and in with the character growth. Let Emmet be inherently kind and nice!
I don't know how familiar you are with some of my previous content, but I've gone with this route before. There's my take for this in the pokemon ranger Ingo au where Emmet becomes Champion of Unova while still maintaining his title as Subway Boss (using different teams for each so it's not the same for the challengers), and also as part of the context in this reunion fic.

Okay, read the chapter, and it is pretty much the spoilers I already read about it. Given that, I’ve had a bit of time to let my thoughts ruminate and I’ve come to the same conclusion as I did before: this is a horrible conclusion to Yamato’s arc.
Let’s first of all get it out of the way that I’m not saying this because I wanted Yamato to join the crew. I’m saying this because it’s a fault in Oda’s writing and there have been quite a few pitfalls within the Wano arc so far, and this one let my grievances with this arc simply boil over.
Oda is a great character writer. He’s proven that plenty of times before. Yet the biggest falls of this arc lie with characters, particularly unfinished business and loose ends and unfulfilling endings. For some reason, Oda’s taking to resolving character arcs and even deaths behind the scenes, and this is an absolutely horrible way to do it, because it either has no impact or becomes confusing or even frustrating. Let’s take Izou, one moment we see him fighting alongside his sister, alongside his fellow retainers, and next we hear of him he’s dead. It was a shock, not because he died, but because we did not see him die. He just is, one moment to the next, no context given, and that leaves you with an empty feeling, because you weren’t allowed to process it. The conclusion of Carrot’s character might just be the most insulting yet, on the same level or even more so than Yamato’s, because she’s been with the crew or at least with part of the crew for ages in our time, and she got shoved aside like she was nothing. Last we see of her she’s fighting and losing before Marco shows up, and the next she’s being crowned ruler of part of Zou, and it feels like an afterthought, something that goes “oh yeah, Carrot’s still there, better get that out of the way”. My feelings towards Carrot have always been pretty neutral, I don’t really care for her either way, but to conclude her arc like that? That’s downright criminal.
And as for Yamato, I’ve seen people gloating that he’s not joining the crew while so many were rooting for it, and those people are entirely missing the point. It’s not frustrating that Yamato didn’t join the crew because people wanted him to join the crew, but because his entire character arc so far has been about him joining the crew!!! Since the moment Yamato showed up, he’s been proclaiming his want and need to join the crew. He’s done it basically in every chapter he’s been in. The worst part is that Yamato’s past with Ace, the promise Ace made to let him join his crew, was genuinely touching and a perfect set-up for a common theme in one piece, namely Inherited Will. It feels like an absolute waste, to shove everything that makes Yamato, Yamato, aside like that, his wants and dreams and promises, not because Luffy didn’t want him to join, but because he somehow, out of the blue, decided to stay behind after all, because he’s “going to live like Oden.” If that’s the direction you want to go in, that’s perfectly fine!! Oda has the right to decide who he wants to be on the Straw Hat crew, it’s his story, but the way he resolved it was absolutely horrible. One moment Yamato’s saying he’s joining the Straw Hats, the next he says he’s changed his mind. We don’t get to see what happened there. We don’t get to see why he changed his mind. He just has. Because Oda didn’t want him to join, or at least not just yet. It’s incredibly weak.
The very least he could have done was show us scenes where Yamato comes to the realization that he wants to stay in Wano, for whatever reason. I’ve seen someone say that even something like Yamato realizing how little he knows about Wano, because of his years of imprisonment, and his want to get to know it better, which can also connect back to Oden, would have worked. Whether that would have been meager or not is up for debate, but it would have at least given us a reasoning and the time to process everything, and it would have made things at least feel alright. Everything now feels rushed and unsatisfying, and the conclusion of Yamato’s arc like this was the last straw, and shows that Wano is a mess when it comes to characters and satisfying conclusions.

like okay, there are a lot of valid reasons why you may not personally ship zutara, and there are criticisms that you can make of the ship, i won’t try to argue with you, but it’s so frustrating that in the god given year of 2024, we are still having to explain why saying “the only reason girls ship zutara is because they’re projecting onto katara bc they want to be with zuko” is misogynistic.
if your criticisms of something is rooted in making women feel bad for liking something or implying women only like someone/thing bc they’re attracted to that character/person and are incapable of liking the story or development, you are just being misogynistic. that is misogynistic rhetoric, and it’s been used to shame girls and women for liking things, in fandom spaces and in general, for decades. it’s a criticism you never see leveled at men.
if you don’t like the ship, that’s fine, but stop echoing this idea that girls only like it bc they wanna be with zuko and are trying to live out some weird fantasy vicariously through katara. let it fucking die already.

Always loved how Umineko subverts the whole "creepy horror little girl" thing with Maria going kihihihi mode in Legend and almost baiting a less attentive reader into believing she's Evil or being possessed by Beatrice only for the text to immediately explain that her shift in behavior when infodumping about the topic her entire life and sense of self revolves around to the adults who belittled her and are now interested due to recent developments makes perfect sense if you think about it for 5 seconds. And then that behavior causing discord and panic as the murders keep happening which leads to her being yelled at and smacked around and literally thrown to the wolves while the text is basically gripping the reader's shoulders explaining how much witches mean to Maria and how this tragedy has an entirely different meaning to her. It begs the reader to avoid the kneejerk impulse of reading her unfavorably when she isn't behaving in ways that are agreeable or cute anymore, because she doesn't only deserve understanding and your sympathy when she's the innocent little girl being horribly abused by her mother. Which is why Maria haters really failed the most basic litmus test in Umineko, imagine being that wrong. lol
Anyway the point I wanted to make was that it's interesting to me how that was also done in Higurashi and Umineko basically expanded on it. The way Akasaka in Himatsubushi immediately projected this image of a lovely cute ideal child on Rika only to be taken aback and frightened when she suddenly started talking seriously about her premonitions of death and he couldn't reconcile this Rika with the Rika he projected her to be, suspecting that they couldn't possibly be the same little girl, she must've been possessed by Oyashiro-sama or not even human herself. And then that fear and the betrayal of his expectations stopping him from realizing that she was, in fact, a little girl asking him for help because she desperately wanted to escape certain death. She didn't only deserve his protection when she was doing her cutesy nipah☆ bit. It speaks a lot how Akasaka was a soon-to-be father, saw Rika being cute and immediately set that impression as an ideal for his daughter who wasn't even born yet, and Rika herself breaking that image meant shattering that ideal. Akasaka failing Rika is a direct reflection of the mentality of parents placing expectations on their children and then feeling betrayed and giving up when they turn out to be complex individuals who don't match the projections they made up. And this is similar to the surprise of Maria going from a cute and naive child to cackling and speaking at length about "scary" topics in a smug tone, and the way the text immediately explains that you should get over the whiplash and accept that Maria is a complex individual, there's nothing out of place about it if you try to understand her situation
Basically I think it's neat how both games use the idea of an archetype that honestly would fit right into the setting to basically shake up the expectations of the audience and the characters themselves and add to the fundamental point the series makes, that girls who behave in ways you can't personally comprehend (with a big emphasis on neurodivergent and traumatized girls) and/or that aren't palatable deserve unconditional understanding and compassion, that they shouldn't have to match your projection of who you want them to be or be helpless perfect victims for you to sympathize with them

they spun her around on the damp old stones, spun away all her sorrow and pain. ( insp. )
one death may have been a mercy. the dowager queen alicent of house hightower, second wife of king viserys i and mother to his sons, aegon, aemond, and daeron, and his daughter helaena, died on the same night as lord westerling, after confessing her sins to her septa. she had outlived all of her children and spent the last year of her life confined to her apartments, with no company but her septa, the serving girls who brought her food, and the guards outside her door. books were given her, and needles and thread, but her guards said alicent spent more time weeping than reading or sewing. one day she ripped all her clothing into pieces. by the end of the year she had taken to talking to herself, and had come to have a deep aversion to the color green.
in her last days the queen dowager seemed to become more lucid. “i want to see my sons again,” she told her septa, “and helaena, my sweet girl, oh…and [rhaenyra]. i will read to [her], as i did when i was little. [s]he used to say i had a lovely voice.” ( strangely, in her final hours queen alicent spoke often of [rhaenyra], but never of her husband, king viserys. ) the stranger came for her on a rainy night, at the hour of the wolf.

ShadAmy but Shadow grieves Amy the entire time. Not that she's dead yet, but he does know she *will* die one day and leave him alone. Her birthday passes and Shadow silently worries over the day he'll never be able to celebrate it with her because she'll be gone.
He'll see friends go by.
Amy will be gone.
And here he was.
Stuck forever in his 15 year old looking body, made to live forever. Immortality is a blessing and a curse. Especially when he has to live life alone, again. He'll lose all his loved ones again.
He grieves his Rose. Even when she's right there in front of him, he'll grieve her every second of the day because he just already sees the world without her in his future. His beloved Amy Rose. He isn't prepared to lose her one day. He isn't ready to see her light go out.
He grieves. And grieves. But he holds every moment with Amy in his heart, close to him forever. He'll always treasure her, even when she's gone.

no girl tell us what you think about jegulily!! im so here for it (tone is weird but I mean that genuinely, I don't ship them so I'm not here to be weird)
dw bae ur tone is fine ! (i’ve been waiting for an ask like this 💀) i think jegulily is... yeah its…. like usually as long as its legal idgaf as long as shippers portray their characters right but regulus fans are literally incapable 😭🙏 WHY WOULD U PAIR A MUGGLEBORN AND A BLOOD SUPREMACIST IM SO DONE WITH DIS FANDOMMMM!! that actually goes for a lot of lily ships like bartylily as well (no clue where that came from either but it’s equally as stupid lmfao).
and jegulily just feels like shoving in lily because people feel bad for ditching her, or shoving in regulus because some people like jily and jegulus and want them (for some reason) to coincide even though it makes zeroooo sense for it to. like, idk if i said this with jegulus before (i yap sm on this account i forget what i say), but like it, jegulily can be done well if a realistic dynamic is taken into account, but the marauders fandom is allergic to nuance and so just chalks up everything regulus does and believes to his neglectful homelife. hes not all-bad, sure, i do feel bad for him, but im nowhere close to shipping him with a woman whos part of the people hes trying to eradicate, or with her man who purposefully went against all pureblood tradition (which is such a large part of james’ character— he is a pureblood that chooses to be seperate from that culture hellooooo plz wake uppppp).
marauders fandom has a chronic “i can fix him” mentality when it comes to wizard neo nazis, i have never understood it. but thats a topic for another day.
jegulily should be filled with envy, toxicity and prejudice stop nerfing it to be some fluffy feel-good polyamorous stable marriage where they raise harry together. yall are looking over the potential. this ship has blood and guts in it plz act like it or else idk what to say 😭 if it doesnt end with at least one of them getting murdered i dont want it.

it's wild seeing people invent drama where it literally doesn't exist. guess that's what happens when shipping starts to pick up in a fandom?
no one is hating on silver
no one is harassing creators
this is why I have mixed feelings on creators stepping into fandom. because aabria is absolutely a treat who's just chilled out and been rad, but it suddenly creates this environment where saying an opinion out loud (not directed towards the creators in any way) that some fans have chosen to believe the creator "wouldn't like" (whether or not that's true) casts you as a rabid harassing ship obsessed scum who is trying to ruin the canon narrative
I don't fucking care what's canon, I'm just having fun in my little corner making my dolls kiss. chill the fuck out.

astarion stans who refuse to try befriending or even romancing anyone else are the most annoying mfs. "I only romance astarion I just can't relate to the other stories" really? you can't relate to gales deep self loathing? his deep love and loyalty for those he cares about? you can't relate to wylls kind heart and desire to always do good, even if it means he's miserable? can't relate to shadowheart blindly following a god, only to learn the truth and reinvent herself? you can't relate to lae'zel or karlach who were lied to and used as weapons their whole lives, but continue to push on even when they're scared? you can't relate to the overarching theme of authority vs autonomy???
it's not difficult, it's just people refusing to appreciate and explore the game to its fullest bc their manipulative sexy vampire is all they need(something astarion actually loathes being seen as btw). but ok, you can be boring and do whatever you want, but don't lie and say the other stories are bad, because they're not. it's simply a lack of media literacy and critical thinking. because to you, if a character doesn't tell you point blank that they're aware of their situation, it's bad writing. missing the entire point that victims don't always realize the situation they're in. keep in mind astarion and karlach are the only ones who got away from their abusers, which is why they tell you clearly and confidently about what happened to them, fully aware that it was abuse. whereas the others give only their tunnel visioned perspective and speak highly of their deity(not caring about themselves, wish to appease them for something in return).
don't get me wrong (seriously, if I see one person misunderstand me I'm going to lose it) astarion is a good character, but people who only like him need to stop acting like he's the only complex and well written one. stop crying when people with brains call you out for being weird about his ascended ending. the game isn't about him. at least try and show some respect to those who worked hard on the game. make an oc and try new things, i promise the fictional vampire won't care if you don't romance him one run. have a drink with shadowheart, dance with wyll, go to a restaurant w karlach, maybe then you'll calm down.

Sending this as a confession because i am way too embarrassed to ask this anywhere else: what are xeno characters? Is it a whole community?
So I was trying to find someone who had a non biased explanation (or a more accurate one) and I unfortunately couldn't find anyone who I actively talk to who had a good explanation.
All I can say is it's a type of more animalistic style some draw inklings/octolings in that they consider more "scientifically accurate" if they were real.
I'll just let people comment to try and explain it better.
Edit: Here's a Submission Explanation.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but "Xeno" Inklings/Octolings, as far as I have ever seen, and/or am aware, are just inkfish drawn with more "furry" features. Paws, fangs, more mammal traits as far as I have ever seen. I wouldn't say it's any more "realistic/accurate" than how Inkfish are already drawn by most fans. It's just an excuse to have paws/claws & more furry features for fun. Nothing wrong with it, but it definitely is a style that doesn't make much sense to me, personally. A similar phenomenon was seen in the TF2 fandom long ago with Tentaspy characters, if anyone is familiar with that, & that is just what I see when I see most Xeno inkfish due to how it's done. Shrug.

why are you, as an adult in 2024, still hung up on reylo. why are you still mocking the shippers. why do you believe yourself to be superior only because you dislike a stupid ship from a fucking space fairytale. girl (gnc) get a grip
#it's ridiculous. this ship is... stupidly cliché. like if you know fandoms at all#you could easily guess why people would be into it. hello?? have you tried to watch tfa without your hate-on-kyle-ron goggles?#did you watch their scenes together? you don't have to like something to recognize the hints#hell. at the time i didn't really like jonerys but i realized they were going to be a thing when i read agot in 2011#like folks. it's been nearly TEN LONG YEARS. let it go. LET IT FUCKING GOOOO#and for the lucy/cooper shippers out there who think reylos are (again) delusional when they compare the two ships:#no. *you* are being delusional only because you think reylo is unsexy and uncool (which is your right to think btw. obv)#if you can't see why someone would like both of these pairings for similar reasons... idk what to say honestly#people compared it to hannigram... honestly. again i see why they would appeal to anyone who's into both ships#i really do. but... unpopular opinion (since i'm more of a clannibal fan than i could ever be of reylo):#they are more similar to reylo than will/hannibal. there i said it#i'm not talking about the writing (admittedly the quality of it was questionable). i'm talking about tropes#never mind that imo the ghoul is more akin to vader than kylo but whatever#hannibal is an unapologetic kind of villain. he's not gonna have a redemption arc and that's okay#cooper is an antivillain who used to be a good man and became a disfigured cruel bastard. a parody of himself#lucy is him. him before the bombs dropped before he discovered the person he trusted the most wanted to commit genocide#nice. moral. polite. infused with the Good Old American Values™. he's basically her dark side#all of this is very hannigram/clannibal. i'm not denying it at all#but what'll likely happen is that lucy's actions will have a positive influence on the ghoul and remind him of what it means to be a man#and that's way more reylo-like. sorry.#beauty&thebeast/villain with some hidden good in him+morally righteous heroine/enemies to lovers etc.#i mean. hello??..... having said that. i'm not so much of a reylo shipper anymore and tbh never was. i really liked it at the time#but i was never fond of the st era. my fav characters are vader and leia and revan from the old eu. just saying#*and* it's also not impossible lucy gets darker with the ghoul as her traveling companion. in fact i wouldn't dislike it at all#if done well i mean#but i would still like for people to be intellectually honest and less puerile. god knows i have my notps#but i really don't give a fuck about the shippers. good for them i guess? i have better taste lmao but that's heavily subjective#val rambles in the tags#val speaks#txt

I need to let it out, but genuinely, I need people who see the Bronzes as brothers because of the manga (which is totally ok btw) to leave alone people who don't and ship them I'm serious
In the anime there's zero mention of that, it's a different timeline (just like Omega and G Assassin are two differents futures for example) and it oftens happens with Hyoshun, which feels like it's because you guys dislike the ship in itself, so you take the manga excuse to shit on people. In the manga nothing was hinted towards hyoga and shun iirc (because they're brothers) in the anime, there's some underlying romantic stuff (because they're not brothers) MY GOD those people who are still arguing about this are so annoying (I mostly saw them on twitter tho Tumblr seems more chill and normal about it)
Not everyone sees them as brothers, please quit trying to force your view thank you 🥰
