𓆩♡𓆪 just, let me. ; sohma yuki 𓆩♡𓆪
pairing: Yuki Sohma x Female!Reader
genre: fluff, uni!au, yuki being the gentleman he is <3
warning: second hand embarrassment, post-curse!Yuki
a/n: this scenario is based off of my embarrassing life events so if you get second hand embarrassment, imagine how I felt going through it in the moment (only a small portion of this scenario is inspiration of my life events, minus the romance.) Thought Yuki would be the perfect character to write about because who doesn't love him (sorry Kyo but the minute I saw Yuki, I knew he was the one for me)
Tumblr media
"Since you dropped out of class and left me alone, you're in charge of buying me drinks and saving me a spot before our next class." Tohru teased as the two of you walked out of lecture hall together. You enrolled in a course together to only dropping out because you didn't take the prerequisite required, even though your friend, who is clearly smarter than you, said it'll be 'a breeze.' You walked her to her next class, peaking your head in to see if the professor arrived yet.
"Matcha latte, less ice, substitute for almond milk." You answered her before she was able to remind you her order. Waving her goodbye, you walked back to the main student center, deciding to spent the 2 hours you know have free to study for your upcoming midterms. Walking down the outdoor path, you looked up at the sky, seeing the snow slowly fall as you admire the snowflake that landed on your palm. You weren't the fan of the cold, but when the snow falls slowly, it took away the cold you were feeling. Entering the cafe, you went to buy your own latte first and getting hers before the next class starts so it doesn't get watered down. Walking around the the building, you tried to spot a free table, knowing it was unlikely since it was during the peak of lunch hours but to your surprise, you spotted an empty table on the second floor, quickly scurrying to take a seat. You settled down, removing your long puffer and scarf and took out your notebook, laptop and earphone, getting ready for a productive session when your eyes travelled across the other side, meeting the eyes of a greyish purple haired male who was sitting directly in front of you across the balcony. He looked up from his book before sending a soft smile. You blankly blinked before looking away, not thinking much of it. Putting in your earphones, you tied your hair and began studying without knowing that the male stole glances at your working figure time to time.
✎﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
You glanced at your phone seeing that your next class was starting in 20 minutes or so. Pulling out your earphones, you glanced across, seeing the male calmly flipping through his book. His pupils moving to read each line on the page, hair softly moving to the wind blowing in from the entrance doors downstairs. You had to admit, he was kind of cute but what are the chances you'll see him again in such a large campus?
'How can someone be able to read in such a loud environment? I'm blasting music and yet I can still hear conversations beside me.' You wondered as you packed your things walking down to the cafe to order your friend's latte. You stumbled to balance the two lattes along with your textbook that you didn't think of putting back into your bag, regretting for not asking for a tray or bag for the drinks but carefully made your way to the next building for class dodging the incoming students. You arrived at the main doors of the building, waving your elbow at the automatic door sensor but the door doesn't budge. You started to panic, feeling the people behind waiting for you to open the door. Tightening your grip around your textbook, trying to awkwardly reach for door handle before a hand beat you to it, pulling the door opened for you.
You looked up, seeing the same male whom you sat across from at the student center. He definitely looks better up close, and he's tall. "People can be so impolite and inconsiderate sometimes." He smiled, waiting for you to enter before you walked in, glancing back to see the people looking unamused.
"Thank you." You slightly nodded, passing him to hurry on to class. He seemed to be walking in the same direction before speaking up.
"Do you need any help?" He caught up to your peace, looking at your hands.
"Nope, I'm good, thanks." You rejected quicken your steps before he bid you goodbye, walking away in the opposite direction.
'he followed me to ask me if I needed help?' You quickly walked up the flights of stairs to the top floor, entering the empty classroom to claim the last two seats. Tohru enters shortly after, too excited to for latte to realize you were seated beside her. "I guess all it takes to kidnap you is a matcha latte" She looked up from your voice, cheekily smiling.
"Someone almost stole my latte." You went on to explain the scenario that happened minutes ago to her. She looked at you with an expression you couldn't read and she's quite the expressive person. "So yeah, he wanted to follow me and steal my latte. His eyes were literally glued to my latte." You waited for her burst of emotions.
"I don't know about you, but to me, he seemed like he was genuinely trying you help you out." You tried to see things through Tohru's perspective. "I mean for someone on our campus to actually step in and help out? Where's this guy from? Heaven?"
"Maybe. He was kind of cute." You confessed quietly. The class started to fill up with students.
"And you rejected him when that may be your one and only chance?!" You slapped Tohru's shoulder from her suddenly raise in voice. The class turned their attention to your corner as you hide your face behind your hands, hearing a awkward giggle from your friend. "Seriously though, you have to stop questioning everyone's intentions. That's the main reason you're still single." She finally whispers as you shot her a glare.
"And what about you? I don't see you with anyone." You rolled your eyes, hearing this complain from almost everyone. It's been several years since your last relationship and as much as you wanted to be in one, you found yourself not wanting to carry a conversation longer than greetings.
"I choose the single life. I believe the one for me will come when the time is right." She defense confidently. You scoffed at her nonsense.
"Well, I, too am waiting for my one."
"Well what if that was your one? And you just brushed him off?" She started to raise her voice again before your hand covered her mouth. The professor walked in just in time before Tohru could continue on with her love conspiracies. "I won't ever see him again so it won't matter." You added before facing the front of class, sensing her death stare.
✎﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
Ever since the incident and what Tohru said, you've been secretly wishing you could go back in time and acted differently. Your class schedule today was alone as Tohru was taking different courses from yours. You entered the lecture hall, taking a seat at your usual spot on the right side of the room, 10 rows from the front, the outermost seat. As students hustled in, a particular hair color caught your eye. It was the greyish purple haired male. The one you saw a week ago. He was in the same core class as you, meaning that he was probably in the same program as you. He walked up the left side of the room as you let out a relieved sigh.
As the professor wrapped up class, you started to pack your things, knowing your lab is quite the distance from where you are and with the limited time and weather condition outside, you weren't willing to take the late mark. You stood up to wear your jacket when a few things hit you;
everyone else was still seated expect you... and the male you couldn't tell if you're trying to avoiding or hoping to see
he was staring directly at you and was seated in the exact same spot but in the other side of the room
your arms were in a very awkward position. and frozen
You quickly darted your eyes away, internally screaming at how embarrassing it was. Just as you thought it couldn't get worst, you noticed a person in your pervious lab turning back to look at you. "Hey Y/N!" he normal voice was loud enough for the front section to hear. You awkward nodded before waving but it was too late because he faced back to the front of the class, so here you are, slowly waving at the back of his head, slowly sinking into your seat, slowly wanting to die and bury yourself in a hole. The professor dismissed class and you couldn't stand a second longer in the room as you darted out, rushing to your lab and trying to run away from embarrassment.
Luckily you made it on time when your lab room still have a lab ongoing so you waited outside until they were finished. You pulled out a water bottle, trying to twist it open but your sweaty palms would just slipped whenever you tried.
"Do you need any help?" Your eyes widen as you heard a familiar tone behind you. It was weird. You only heard him spoke twice and yet you were able to tell who it belonged to. Slowly turning, he peered over your shoulder, sending you his gentle smile. You took a couple of steps back, still trying to recover from what happened in the lecture hall. You couldn't face him like this.
"Nope, I'm good, thanks." You nervously chuckled gripping the water bottle tightly before you felt your top becoming damp. The water was leaking through your half opened lid. "Shit." You cursed, seeing the a huge damp spot on the front of your shirt. He quickly dug into his back for some napkins but before he was able to hand it to you, you were already off to the washroom.
You walked out to get your bag, feeling uncomfortable about how your morning was starting off when you saw a pocket of tissue on top of your bag. You stuffed it back into your bag, entering your lab. You couldn't focus on your lab, your thoughts were all over the place and all you wanted to do was just hide under your blankets, away from the world. Walking out of the lab, the doors of a room further down the hall opened as the male walked out. You froze, praying he doesn't look back. He continues walking down the hall, as you mutely followed behind. Stopping to stare out the window, taking in the white view of first snow on the trees.
"It's so pretty." You spoke to yourself.
"It sure is." You almost jolted, stepping back from his sudden appearance. You swore you saw him walking down the stairs. "Is your shirt okay?" You instantly covered your shirt, feeling your cheeks heat up.
"Yes, it's okay now." You stared out the window, feeling the awkward tensions around the two of you.
"I'm Yuki. Yuki Sohma." He introduces himself with his hand extended. You looked at his hand, hesitant on whether or not to shake it.
"I'm Y/N L/N." You slowly reach out to his hand and shook it.
"Nice to meet you, Y/N." You slightly nodded before looking at your phone, seeing that your bus comes in a few minutes. You quickly throw on your jacket, opened your bag to grab your scarf when you saw the tissue.
"Here you go." You handed him the tissues but he looked at you confusingly. "Oh, is this not yours?"
"No it is bu-"
"Thanks. I didn't use it so it's not opened." You gave him the tissues before taking off. He saw you run to the station through the window, softly smiling at himself.
"You didn't have to return the tissues." He looked at the tissue in his hand.

The boy you thought you never see again began to be the person you pumped into the most in the weirdest places. Though he didn't have many classes with you, his classes all somehow ended up to be near yours, so whenever you came out, he was there. You started to having bad feelings for him, wondering if all this encounters are purely by coincidence or stalking. Tohru has been pressuring you to chat up a conversation with him but you didn't have to guts or interest to. Yes he was very attractive and all but you only thought of him as someone you could admire from afar. He was way out of your league. He was a smooth talker and proper whereas you're awkward and clumsy. He's been trying to offer you help whenever it seemed like you needed it but you were starting to feel like he was making fun of what you were capable of.
"Do you need help with that?" He approached you as you carried stacks of paper and coffee for your club's meeting.
"Nope, I'm good, thanks."
"Do you need a hand?" You were stapling some posters for your club's event. You stood on a stool, trying to reach the empty spot at the top.
"Nope, I'm good, thanks."
"Do you need any help?" You were carrying a box filled with equipment with wires dangling out.
"Nope, I'm good, thanks" Every time he asked, you felt like you were being looked down on. You clearly had it fine but for some reason, his offer doesn't seem to kind in your eyes anymore.
"I'm telling you, he's looking down on me." You spoke to your club members as they asked about the mysterious guy who has been following you to the club.
"I don't think so." One of them spoke. "I have mutual friends with him and he's actually a really kind person."
"Maybe you should just let him help. He won't feel so bad for himself." Another joins in.
You shook your head, not understanding what they're saying. "But I'm fine without any help. I got it under control." You crossed your arms, feeling a little triggered by his actions.
"I'm telling, what if he genuinely just wants to help and you're just turning him down? If I were him, I would feel pretty hurt myself." Tohru tries to explain herself and the club members agreed, making you feel helpless on what to do.
"But he's literally everywhere I go. You can't tell me he's not stalking me. It's too coincidential to be a coincidence" You bring out another point to only see them shake their heads in disapproval.
"Coincidence is the first sign of love."
"Maybe it's not a coincidence... but fate." You facepalmed from your unhelpful friends

The club meeting ended a lot later than expected from the upcoming events and promotions. You volunteered to lock up the room as you wanted to finish up a couple of things before leaving. You glanced out the window, seeing the snow slowly fall, melting away all your tiredness. You wore your jacket, locking up the room before heading out the building. It was already dark outside, as the light post was your only light source to the station. You started to walk, hearing the doors behind you open. Yuki was walking out as your quicken your steps, feeling scared about what he might do. The sudden gust of wind cause a chill through your neck as you notice you weren't wearing your scarf. You whipped your bag to the front, unzipping your bag to only see your bag empty without your scarf. You must've forgotten it at home.
"Y/N?" A soft voice called out. You didn't know if the chills you were feeling were from the wind or him. You turned around as he quicken his steps to you. "Walking to the station?" He asked but you froze and instead back up slowly. "Y/N?" He tried to approach you before you stopped him with your hands
"Why are you always following me? Are you trying to stalk me? What do you want from me?" His eye widen as you spoke loudly. You were shaking from fear and the cold. "Don't come closer. Leave me alone."
"Okay okay, but just listen to what I have to say." He took out his phone, tapping on his screen. "I think you have the wrong idea. I wasn't following or stalking you." He showed his phone with the messages he exchanged with one of your club members. She was technically setting up all the club encounters without the two of you knowing. "She told me that she needed something from me but every time I go where she said she'll meet me, she's never there." You gave yourself a mental note to give her an earful the next time you saw her. You felt a little more relieved that he didn't have any bad motives.
"Then why are you looking down on me?" he blinked several times, trying to make sense of what you said. "Do you not think I'm capable of what I'm doing." He finally understood what you're saying
"Of course not! I swear, that wasn't my intentions. I was truly just asking if you needed some help." He looked away from you. "You always look so hard work and all. I thought I could offer you a hand." His cheeks were tinted red but you couldn't tell if it's from the cold or something else. "I promise, I didn't mean to come off to you at all. I've always admire how diligent you are."
You breathlessly chuckled, feeling at ease. He kind of felt the same as he mirrored your actions. The two of you slowly walked to the station, as a conversation naturally started without you coming to realize.
"I have to say though, I felt kind of hurt that you kept on brushing me off." You felt guilty on holding bad thoughts about him. "I thought I was annoying you or something. But it’s weird, because it’s almost like we always bump into each other” he spoke your exact thoughts. “I guess it might be fate.” He quickly mumbled but you were able to caught what he was saying. You couldn’t help but to smile.
"Sorry about that." You apologized but he smiled, almost brightening your whole surrounding. “I don’t believe in fate, but maybe this is proof that it does exists.” You took the risk. It was now or never.
"I'm glad we cleared out the misunderstanding." You nodded, smiling before shivering, feeling the cold air travel down and into your jacket. He stopped you before facing you.
"Where's your scarf?" Your heart fluttered that he remembered you always carried your scarf.
"I most've left it at home." You looked to the side, hiding your shame.
"Do you need help?"
"N-"
"'Nope, I'm good, thanks'" He answered before you could speak feeling flustered.
"No seriously though, I'm good. We're almost at the station." You peeked behind him expecting to see the station but to your surprise, you still had some way to go. He started to take his scarf off his neck. "Yuki-"
"Just," He stepped closer to you, wrapping the scarf around your neck. "let me." he finishes tying a knot. The scarf felt warm from his body temperature. You touched your cheeks, trying to hide your redness. "I was finally able to help you somehow." He softly spoke, gently caressing your hair before his eyes travelling to your red fingertips. He took your hands, removing his right glove and helping you wear it on your right hand. You remained silent, not knowing what to do. He extended his left hand to you.
"May I?" You looked at him before smiling, offering his right hand as he intertwined his fingers, stuffing your hand in his into his jacket pocket.
"I guess today, I'll be helping you."
"Thank you Yuki."
"You don't know how long I've been waiting to hear that."

i love edgelords <3 adachi tohru x fem reader (part 3) | [Part 1] [Part 2] im late but i finally did it >:D adachi gets clocked by girlboss; featuring: female rage
Tumblr media
The formidable shadow burst into a million particles. A satisfied exhale escaped you as you lowered your smoking gun. The leftover rush from the fight was settling in your veins. That has to be the last one, right? Everything was leading up to the end, and you were determined to clear this dungeon. You were getting closer. The finale was drawing ever so near, and you could feel it in your bones.
Turning your head over your shoulder, your hair swayed in the faint breeze. Standing behind and beside you were the seven high schoolers (and bear) you were in charge of. “Are you guys alright?”
Call it your maternal instincts kicking in, but you wanted to make sure the kids were prepared to keep going. Everyone needed to be at their best if you wanted to stand a chance at defeating Adachi. Losing wasn’t an option.
“Yeah, we’re good!” Chie replied. Honestly, she was pretty fired up. She could fight these shadows, and still be full of energy.
“Yes ma’am.” Kanji added politely. The others uttered similar notions.
Upon everyone’s confirmation, a smile formed on your lips. Glad to see you were all on the same page. “Okay, good. We’re almost to the end, aren’t we?”
Rise, the eyes and ears of the team, nodded. Since the way had been cleared up, her persona had an easier time detecting enemies. Adachi in particular. “Yeah. He should be down that way…!” She replied firmly. Teddy could sense it as well. All of you were almost to the final stage.
“Let’s go then.” You declared, and the leader of the investigation squad agreed. Stepping forward, Yu took charge and led the group.
Inside the winding nexus of concrete paths and caution tape, there was a singular path to the end. Just before your feet, there was a long stretch of path ahead. Taking a deep breath, you took off with the students.
This was it. You’d finally get the closure you had been waiting for.
As you kept up your brisk pace, Yukiko jogged alongside you. She turned her head to face you.
“Are you gonna be okay, Miss (Y/N)?” She held a look of concern. All of them knew that Adachi used to be an important person to you. To face him head on like this would be rough.
Upon hearing her worries, Rise, Chie, and Naoto slowed down to join in the conversation. It was horrible what Adachi did to you, betraying your trust like that. They couldn’t imagine what it was like for a person they liked to turn out to be a completely different person.
“...I’ll be fine.” You replied with a faint smile. To you, this was nothing.
Admittedly, it warmed your heart to see that the girls empathized with you. In fact, the days leading up to the dungeon were filled with talks from the girls. They were there for you in Adachi’s absence, and the reassurance was comforting. It was a reminder you weren’t alone in this endeavor. Your Ex’s reckless and twisted actions affected so many people. Soon to be many more. Whether you were prepared or not, you had to stop him at all costs. Everyone deserved justice.
A confident smirk formed on your lips. “I’m just ready to take him down already.” You joked.
The boys were in full agreement with that sentiment. Not only did they want to beat him up, but also for your honor and Nanako’s. “Hell yeah, we’ll kick his ass!” Kanji cheered, and Yosuke agreed.
The group was successfully hyped up now. The eight of you ran down the long narrow path littered with signs and caution tape. The red mist was vaguely hazy through your glasses. Off in the distance, you could see the end of the line. At the finish line was a figure standing there.
Upon spotting the edge, you picked up your speed. Closely behind, the others followed suit. Once you caught up to the figure, your movements skidded to a halt. All done in stilettos. It was impressive how well you moved in heels.
Adachi’s back was turned to your group. There was a brief pause, then he gradually turned around. As he did so, he offered your group a slow pity clap.
“Wow, I’m surprised you made it this far.” He observed. Though he said it to the group, it was mostly meant for you in particular. The drive you had to beat him was fascinating.
At the forefront of the investigation team, you crossed your arms. If he tried anything, you’d do your best to protect the kids. They took priority, as their personas were much stronger than yours. So you served as the support, and the first line of defense.
“I’m surprised you can even see.” You retorted as you placed him under heavy scrutiny.
He raised a brow. “Huh? Of course I can see.” For a moment, his dark nature dropped due to his confusion. What kind of observation was that?
You tilted your head curiously. Raising your hand, you pinched the temple of your glasses and lowered them about an inch. Just to be sure. As you expected, the scenery before you was barely visible. A foggy, hazy mess. Without the lenses, it was hard to make him out. You skeptically narrowed your eyes and moved your specs back up. “Really…? Isn’t it foggy?”
The teenagers with you realized you had a point. Does Adachi not need glasses because he’s a shadow or something?
“Oh no, I can see you perfectly fine, (Y/N)...” Adachi shook his head with a chuckle. The fog was nothing to him. In fact, it was comforting more than anything. Smirking, a low rumble left his throat. “And man, you look as lovely as ever~”
Gross. Needless to say, his compliments had you grimacing in disgust. Any of his flirting attempts were like a mouthful of sand. Glaring, you held your hip. Everything he said got on your nerves now.
“Enough.” Naoto noticed your mild discomfort. “Allow me to confirm the crimes you’ve committed thus far.”
“You had suspicions that this world was dangerous, yet you threw Mayumi Yamano into the TV. Knowing full well that Ms. Yamano died here, you did the same to Saki Konishi. Not only that, but you duped Namatame into taking over your murder attempts, while you watched like a spectator at a game. When the disappeared stopped dying, you sent a warning letter to ensure more victims.”
Adachi sighed with disinterest.
“Even when a copycat killer arose, you had the gall as a detective to eliminate a suspect under investigation.” Naoto’s glare burned. “Two people died in the last six months, and a young girl is now in critical condition… but that’s not all.”
“If at any turn something had gone wrong, many more would have succumbed… all for some foolish ‘excitement,’ like a criminal reveling in the chaos he creates!”
Naoto put it better than you ever could.
“You’re disgusting, Adachi. To think you’d go as low as to convince me to turn my back on everyone. These kids have a better grasp on reality than you do.” You spoke up.
Yosuke and the others were surprised by what you revealed. Adachi tried to trick you into joining him?!  This guy was more than messed up.
Admittedly, Adachi was a little hurt by your words. “Oh come on, (Y/N). All I did was put people in here.” He retorted. His tone was normal and flat, as if he was a disinterested child being lectured. “It’s the world that really kills them, isn’t it?”
His gaze wandered over to the red sky. “This world reflects people’s thoughts… which… oh dear… does that mean the real culprits are everyone on the outside, including you?”
What backwards logic. “That may be fundamentally true, but who are you to lead them to the slaughter?” You glared at him.
It’s true, not everyone was strong enough to face themselves. That doesn’t mean they deserve to be taken advantage of and killed.
“Face it for what it is. If you didn’t do what you did, Mayumi and Saki would still be alive.” Your targeted gaze was narrow and filled with contempt. It was his actions that damned them to the afterlife. “Why don’t you be a man and own up to your crimes, instead of making up excuses?”
“Yeah, to hell with that!” Yosuke barked. Like you said, it was a shitty excuse. “You did that stuff knowing full well those people were gonna die! If that’s not a crime, then what is!?”
Adachi snickered in response. “Haha… you’re so self-righteous.” He retorted smugly.
Chie was appalled by his words. For an officer of the law, his attitude was so out of place. “How can you say that…!? Aren’t you a police officer!?” She questioned.
He was a detective, the same as (Y/N). While you became an officer to help people, here was this messed up guy in the same field hurting people. He was a walking contradiction. “Out of everything you could have been, didn’t you specifically choose to join the police!?”
“Don’t make me laugh. Just because someone joins the police doesn’t make them some kinda ‘agent of justice.’” Adachi scoffed in a disparaging tone. The credulous precedent made his skin crawl.
Upon hearing that, your fists involuntarily clenched. That crossed the line for you. You couldn’t believe what you were hearing. “What are you saying? That’s the whole point… that’s your job…!” You exclaimed.
It both horrified and frustrated you to think he didn’t take his job seriously. Bad actors like him were an insult to your integrity as a detective. All of your talks with him of busting culprits, and helping people… it was all a lie. To think you thought he was being sincere when you opened up to him. Helping people and being a detective was part of your identity… so it was personal.
Why would he even bother?!
His eyes met your hardened ones. “Do you really wanna know why I applied, (Y/N)? So I could legally carry a gun… that’s all.” He replied, shrugging nonchalantly. “You’d be surprised how many are like that.”
Brows furrowing, your expression twisted to one of shock. “...You’re joking.” The corners of your lips turned downward. Just to own a gun…? Seriously? He’d compromise the principles of the police, just for a simple weapon?
“You wanted a gun?” Face stuck in disbelief, you stared at him in horror. It quickly changed to one of frustration. The notion was so absurd you had to reaffirm it. With one hand over your chest, your other swung your arm to the side. Though you originally wanted to remain calm when confronting Adachi, it was impossible. Rage was boiling inside you thanks to his absurdity. Growing more heated in the argument, your voice raised in volume. “Then move to the States! Their firearm laws are much more relaxed there…!”
While you agreed it was nice to carry a firearm, you didn’t understand his odd desperation for one. Going so far as to force an occupation just to get one. It didn’t make any sense. “There was no need to incriminate yourself and ruin the integrity of the police! Where’s your sense of honor?!” You argued.
While everyone bore some resentment for Adachi, they could tell your back and forth was much more heated. None of them had ever seen you this angry before. It was very personal between you two.
“Honor?” He tilted his head at you. A short, pitiful laugh escaped his lips. As much as he liked you, preachy garbage like that got on his nerves. “When you’re like me, you don’t get that sort of privilege.”
“Everything and everyone around me was boring. I was surrounded by idiots. Then one little mistake bought me scrutiny, and a ticket to Nowheresville. Why bother with honor or integrity when life is just a sham?”
You bit your tongue. Before all of this, you did think that compared to yourself, he was a lost man. What you didn’t know was the true extent.
“I was bored shitless and wondering what to do next… when I discovered this power.”
Kanji for one, agreed with you regarding honor. A piece of shit like Adachi didn’t deserve powers like the rest of you if he couldn’t even have a single shred of dignity. “For crying out loud… why a bastard like you!?”
“A gift for having to put up with this lame job out in Nowheresville, I guess.” Adachi said simply. His expression was plain again, the one you used to like. “I did that stuff ‘cause I could. And it got interesting, so I watched.”
“That’s your reason!? You can’t be serious…!” Yukiko scoffed. She couldn’t believe how apathetic the man was. It was horrifying to know this was the type of person they were supposed to trust with their safety. “You really don’t care what happens to our world!?”
“Let’s be honest. There’s nothing great about the real world, is there? It’s just dull and annoying as hell.” Adachi held a scowl. “No one accepts that’s the way things are… they’re just stuck with it because they can’t deny it, either.”
“Those who actually succeed in life… they just happen to be born with the magic ticket called ‘talent.’ If you don’t have it, you can either accept or deny that fact until you die. That’s your only choice.”
He averted his gaze. “Once you realize that, all you have left in life is despair. The ultimate game over. Wouldn’t it be better if that kind of reality was wiped away?”
“You don’t actually believe that crap, do you?” You couldn’t help but ask that rhetorical question. Hearing his defeatist rantings made you feel an ounce of pity for him.
As you spoke, you held your hand over your chest. Your eyes flickered with conviction. “Life can be unfair, but what makes it boring or exciting is up to you. Instead of giving up, you work and adapt for the things you want.”
Adachi went silent for a moment. Perhaps processing your words. Then he scoffed quietly.
“You’re so naive, (Y/N)... it kind of pisses me off.” He grinned at you. It appeared the advice went through one ear and out the other. “You don’t get what it’s like to be me. You’re pretty and you have talent. You have it easy, and you can have it much easier if you wanted to.”
It was impressive to him that you were a good detective. However, he wouldn’t have been surprised if you got advantages due to other factors. And even then, you could always be a trophy wife if you ever got tired of working. It wasn’t the same thing for him. He didn’t get those advantages.
“Shut the hell up.” You uttered with wide eyes.
Instead of screaming or yelling, you were eerily calm. Though you didn’t shout, your voice was laced with burning anger. It was enough to give anyone chills.
He doesn’t get to say that. You spent years of painstaking labor to get to where you were at. Even more for people to start taking you seriously. In truth, you had to spend years in a similar situation to Naoto. In a job you loved, but one where you were held back, shunned, or mocked just for being a woman in a male dominated profession.
Being pretty or ‘talented’ wasn’t strictly a blessing. It can be a curse. Drawing the ire of people just because of how you look. Talent can mean nothing when your mere existence decided your worth. Getting advantages or disadvantages because of how you are perceived. All you wanted was to work hard and be acknowledged for your skill rather than your looks. Even now, you were close but not entirely there.
He knew that, and he had the gall to say you had it easy.
Naoto herself understood how you felt, and she was just as disgusted by his speculation.
“Just where the hell do you get off saying any of this, Adachi?” You spoke up.
“You think you know true adversity because… you were given a slap on the wrist, and kicked out of the city? Your life got a little too boring, and you’re too lazy to spice things up?”
“Instead of turning anything around… you sit there and cry about it?” You scoffed. The rage was boiling over. “Poor Adachi. Wow, I feel so sorry for you. You pathetic piece of garbage.”
“I mean it when I said life is dictated by how you live it. Your life is boring because of your own choices. Holding a pity party whilst doing nothing to improve it isn’t going to change anything.”
“You’re coping when you say ‘that’s how reality is.’ It isn’t. I’m sorry your life is terrible, but not everyone aspires to live the same way you do.”
“So please, don’t patronize to me about your shitty life experience when you’re not even trying.”
“Hell yeah, (Y/N)! Tell it like it is!” Kanji cheered you on. Him and the others had been silent, but they were enjoying hearing you dress down Adachi like this. He needed someone at his level to knock him down a peg.
It was inspiring to hear you talk. It made them fired up for the incoming battle.
“That’s why… this entire farce is pathetic. It’s cowardly to destroy the world and ruin things for everyone else because you want to be cynical. It’s selfish, and childish.” It was hard to believe this was the same man you fell for. Should you even be calling him a man at this point?
His plan to turn everyone into shadows was ludicrous. You stared at him, your gaze shimmering with conviction. “You’re far too close-minded to decide how the world will run.”
Perhaps in another life, your words would have reached him. If your paths had crossed sooner, he could’ve turned it all around. But it was too late. The damage had already been done. He was too far gone now to be reached. The harsh truth was threatening to shatter his ego.
“Shut up…. shut up, (Y/N)...!!!”
Adachi glanced down. A faint blue glow began to overtake his body.
“Be careful! I dunno what’s happening!” Teddy warned the group. Whatever it was, it wasn’t good.
The blue light continued emanating off his body like smoke. His eyes were glowing yellow. It was the same phenomena that occurred when the others encountered their shadow forms. A haunting realization came to you. Here, there wasn’t a second Adachi to contrast the first.
Meaning they were one and the same.
“You all saw Shadows as mere monsters, didn’t you!? These things move on pure instinct! They go wild because you defy them!” Adachi’s voice was now distorted. “If you don’t want to be with me, but those annoying little brats… then so be it! You won’t be welcomed in the new world!”
“What new world? La la land?” You asked. A faint grin of amusement tugged on your lips. He was delusional if he thought you’d let him destroy the world and rebuild it in his image.
Adachi was at a loss. He couldn’t believe you were betraying him. The only person who brought him comfort was now against him. He was trapped in a corner.
It was all one big migraine. “Stop… stop trying to act tough, (Y/N)!” He lashed out at you. His composure was gradually getting worse. He was hunched over, as if in pain.
He held his temples, his entire body shaking. “You have no idea what kinda shit I’ve been through!!” He shouted.
“Get over yourself.” You sighed, adjusting your suit blazer. At this point, you’ve had it with him. “I dealt with a lot of injustice and nonsense. You don’t see me crying and scorching the Earth over it.”
Honestly, you didn’t mind being ruthless. It appeared Adachi had made up his mind about how he wanted to live. Therefore, all of the generous empathy you had for him was spent. You can’t help someone who doesn’t want to change.
Adachi yelled out in rage. His body dispersed into particles of shadow. Everyone else got into their fighting positions.
“Here he comes!” Rise warned. “This will probably be our last battle… let’s hit him with everything we’ve got!”
“The world is about to change…” Adachi’s body materialized from the shadows. He whipped out his gun. “Your existence won’t belong there!”
“I thought I could just leave you be, but you’re like a plague… I’ll have to get rid of all of you!”
“So be it.” You exhaled sharply. As you spoke, your vindictive gaze never left him. It was hard to believe this was your reality now. A nightmare made real. The man standing before you, the person you had to fight was your former lover. However, instead of shying away from the truth, you’d embrace it head on. “Let’s go guys…! I’m not letting us lose to the likes of him!”
“Right! Let’s work together! There’s no way we can lose to this bastard!” Yosuke and the others agreed. It was finally time to kick his ass for all the things he’s done.
Looking at the others, you nodded. Whether or not you still held feelings, you’d take him down all the same.
It was an exciting set of circumstances too. Beating your ex, to save the world? A faint chuckle escaped you at how poetic it was. “I’m going to enjoy this.” You smirked. With a snap of your fingers, your card shattered into a million pieces. A shimmering blue flame sparked behind you, and your persona materialized in its place. “Let’s dance, Adachi!”
Adachi hated how cocky you were getting. You didn’t stand a chance against him. He had to crush that semblance of hope. “Shut up…! Get lost! Get the hell outta my sight!!”
“Nope.” You mused. “Let’s go, Isolde…!” Upon channeling your persona, you summoned a protective barrier around the group.
The first strike to him was your Maragidyne. Adachi was hit with a large blast of fire. Not only did you make the first move, it showed your blazing resolve. It cemented the fact that you were serious about fighting him. There was no holding back in this battle.
The adrenaline rush you got from battle flowed through your veins. It was the perfect outlet for all the frustration you had at Adachi’s betrayal. The anger you had over opening up and giving him your heart, of which he took for granted. Also hitting him was just pretty satisfying.
The fight was long and arduous. As much as you hated him, Adachi was a formidable opponent. In order to defeat him, you had to give it your all. Each attack you made was powerful, with  smooth and fluid movements. It truly was a dance for the fate of the world.
The others jumped in with their own attacks. Each move weakened Adachi slowly but surely. His strikes were painful to endure, but you and Yukiko had spells to keep everyone at peak performance. You could keep this up forever, but could he?
It wasn’t before long, Adachi’s figure was starting to wane. As much as he didn’t want to admit it, his strength was dwindling. He was losing. His change in demeanor didn’t go unnoticed by you. In fact, it gave you a burst of energy. It was confirmation for you to keep going so you could finally end this once and for all.
A series of attacks followed your observation. Rise had pointed out Adachi’s state, and everyone in your group sent a fury of attacks. It was time to wrap this up.
It was only a few minutes longer into the fight that Adachi had grown weaker. Upon letting his guard down, there was a moment of weakness, and you took it. You sent the final blow. “Once more…!” A fire blast escaped your persona’s hands and hit the man.
That was it. He stumbled back before dropping to his knees. He was defeated. Adachi visibly grimaced, wincing as he held his shoulder.
“D-Damn… this is lame…” He grumbled as he grit his teeth. “Ngh… oh well…”
“Our world’s gonna disappear soon, no matter what… I didn’t have anywhere to go back to anyways… Everyone’s gonna become Shadows…” He chuckled before being met with a surge of pain.
To your dismay, beating Adachi didn’t completely solve everything. If only it had been that simple. It turned out he was a conduit for the true culprit behind the phenomena, Ameno-sagiri. It had been called upon due to the desire for mankind to live in ignorant bliss. Since they desired for the absence of truth, they would become shadows and live in the darkness of the fog.
You didn’t think you’d fight against a giant disco eyeball, but you did.
Upon its defeat, you opened Ameno-sagiri’s eye to the truth. You and the others showed the supernatural being the power of human potential. The fog was lifted over Inaba.
Once the being faded away, you approached Adachi, who was laying on the ground. You gently nudged the side of his arm with the tip of your stiletto. He’s still alive…
Adachi sighed as he stared at the sky. He was defeated. “So that’s it, huh…?” The world he wanted wasn’t going to happen.
“Fine… Live however you want…” He breathed out. It was clear he still had some lingering influence of Ameno-sagiri. His voice was rough and strained. “If you think… you have the power to change the future… then go right ahead…”
“I’m surprised you don’t know it’s very possible.” You raised a brow. Changing the future has been a believable concept since the dawn of time. Nothing is set in stone.
“Everyone has the power to do that.” Yosuke said in agreement.
Adachi let out a pained laugh. He wasn't sure why any of you were still around. Surely, you'd leave him to rot, right? “Get outta here… The Shadows will finish me off…”
“Just leave me be… you came to kill me in the first place… didn’t you…?” He stared at you and the group. He wouldn’t expect any less. He was a murderer who betrayed your trust.
“No, dumbass.” Kanji said to Adachi.
“You’re joking, right?” You held your hip as you glanced down at the man. Bending your knees, you crouched down next to him.
“You’re not getting off that easy.” From your pocket, you got out your handcuffs. With swift yet gentle movements, you took his arm and attached the restraint to his wrist. It was only fair Dojima got closure just as you did. Adachi needed to own up to his crimes as well. “I said I’d put you behind bars. Unlike you, I keep my promises.”
“Yeah, your stupid game’s over. We’re taking you back.” Yosuke said in agreement. “Live and face your punishment… that’s how it works in our world.”
“...Right…” Adachi didn’t move as you locked his hands up. There was a hint of humiliation he felt being put in restraints by you. It was the cherry on the bitter sundae of defeat. However, he couldn’t bring himself to resist anymore.
Naoto agreed with your wishes. “I’m sure that’s the outcome Dojima-san wishes for as well.”
As you kneeled close to the man, you glanced down at him. Amidst the momentary silence, he met your eyes. “We have the same power, but things turned out so differently for us…” Adachi muttered.
He wasn’t wrong. The two of you were in the same field, and granted the same ability, but that’s where your similarities ended. Like fire and water, you were complete opposites. While he succumbed to his loneliness and cynicism, you were optimistic and driven to your goals. Despite dealing with hardships, you managed to overcome and adapt. You had friends, family, and things to live for.
You were Adachi’s only gateway to a world of color. The exciting life he thought was long dead. He had a taste of it for a moment, and it felt nice… but then he ruined it. Foolishly, Adachi let his selfishness get in the way of his own happiness. He pushed the only person he cared about away. The woman of his dreams slipped out of his grasp, and he was the only one to blame.
Regret was seeping in through the cracks. “If only I had met you sooner… things wouldn’t have gone this way…” He whispered, his eyes softening.
Falling silent for a moment, you averted your gaze. “Maybe so…” You replied softly with a frown. Gently, you lowered his wrists about an inch. As much as you resented him for what he did, you did feel a small ounce of pity. It wasn’t an excuse, but you understood how he got here. “But I shouldn’t have to be the sole reason for you to change.”
You can’t magically fix someone’s problems overnight. Changing isn’t someone else’s responsibility, but your own. Change has to come from within. It wasn’t your job to save someone who can’t even help themselves.
“...Yeah, right…” Despite his begrudging acceptance, Adachi smiled weakly at you. His clarity arrived far too late. The damage was done, but his feelings persisted even now. In the fight he said he hated your resilience. In truth, it was one of the things he loved most about you.
After leaving the TV Realm, you were tasked with bringing him back to the station. You got into contact with Dojima and told him everything. Adachi was carefully taken into custody. As he was taken away by a stretcher at Dojima’s personal request, you didn’t speak any more words to each other.
The teenagers decided to go off and celebrate, but you hung back to go to the station.
Officers and civilians were coming and going through the Junes. As you walked out the glass doors, you were hit with a shining bright glare. What followed was a comfortable sentiment of warmth. Your eyes were shielded with your arm, and you slowly lowered it to glance up.
The sun was out. The fog was no more. It was a peaceful, sunny day. One that filled your senses with a feeling of tranquility. The light breeze gingerly swayed your locks as you stood there, admiring the sight. How long has it been since you’ve seen a clear day like this? Too long… A small smile crept up your cheeks.
Thanks to Adachi, you were back at square one. A single detective, able to return to the city and resume her life of chasing thrills and avoiding lows. However… that wasn’t entirely true. You grew a lot from this experience. Not to mention all the bonds you formed here during your time in Inaba. It made you appreciate living, whether it be materialistic or minimalistic. Thrills were fun, but sometimes tranquility was better.
Brushing the stray locks away from your face, you continued your walk to the station. Perhaps… you’ll stay here a bit longer.

Tohru for the character opinions bingo
Tumblr media
I love Tohru <3
I'm actually quite obsessed with her design, the double ribbon + long brown hair really does it for me. She's so soft and gentle and I love how her 'caring, nurturing girl' self was actually at least partially manifested from a deep fear of abandoment. It really puts every relationship she has in the series into perspective and also really sells the endgame pairing to me ( 'Needs to be cared for as of right now' Yuki vs 'Capable of looking after someone right now' Kyo). I wish her trauma was more developed in the anime but, uh, we know why that didn't happen. 😐😔
I think she works better as part of a dynamic if only because the parallels she has with Akito are so integral to themes of the show and come off as brilliant to me... The scene where Tohru is described as someone who 'won't ask for the moon but deserves it' whereas Akito 'Always asks for the moon' is so perfect... The fact that they both have abandoment issues at their core and how it guides all their actions... I'm obsessed. I don't know, I think she's the perfect protagonist with the perfect antagonist, it's a really well thought out dynamic.

Hiiii, if you want. Could you match me please? I would really appreciate if you do♡
Well, I"m 5'6 (1.68 cm), I have long hazel hair in a wolfcut, idk how to describe my body to you so the closest description I can give you is Tohru from "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid" with a bit of hip dips and love handles<3.
I'm an entj, but I try to be very calm and rational especially with the person I like/love. When I'm in love I kinda give (or at least I"ve been told) comforting vibes. I do however have bpd and ocd (diagnosed), I have suffered from sa in the past so I am kinda hypersexual.
I don't know if you need more info about me 😞
But if you can pls match me<3
hello my fellow bp 🩵, i hope you’re doing good
with that being said
I SHIP YOU WITH
SAKAMAKI SUBARU
and
MUKAMI RUKI
Tumblr media
• Am I basing of descriptions? Maybe..— I think aesthetically this would be an attractive couple. You got my heart at Wolfcut omg, I think Subaru would admire your appearance. Especially your hair, i think he’d find it sexy..?
• Subaru needs someone who’s CALM and collected because this boy definitely isn’t that. Think of it as opposites attract.
• Although, being hyper sexual would be probably store him clear of you; because Laito’s like that. BUT, when subaru comes to an understanding of past sa abuse, he’ll learn to accept it.
• Warning this match would definitely trauma bond; would be avoided it at all costs. His brothers would definitely notice; especially Kanato. (hence his actions in his role in Subarus Route)
with his personality type being isfp he’s more likely to trust you entj. especially with being empathic towards him.
he just needs someone to love him
Tumblr media
• i’ll make this short, ruki is an intj and you’re a entj, this is considered a unique match aka pretty damn good
• you’re calm like ruki is so this would be a smooth match up, tight bond even.

Aw ok that smile. Yeah, Momiji was my first anime crush and this glow up is why he’s sooooo cute
Awwww Yuki being afraid they’d all lose their bond without the curse
Hatori’s love confession plzzz😂😂
“Rin is watching! Intensely!”
Ahhhhh Akito is so pretty!!
Lolllll not Ritsu thinking Akito adopted his cross-dressing habits😂
I remember he was wearing men’s clothes in this scene in the manga. I was thinking they’d change that in the anime
I’m still not sure how I feel about Akito’s and Shigure’s relationship tbh…
They’re BOTH pretty toxic to each other
Like I get they’re traumatized, but…
Awww Tohru telling Kyo she’s going to move with him since he’s going away!!!!
“I want to be by your side always” !!!!!!!!
AHHHH WHEN WILL I GET A LOVE STORY LIKE THIS
Yooooooo we’re flashing back to Kyoko’s death again?!
Ohhh aww is this her realizing that Kyo will take care of Tohru for her now?
“Tohru, I wanted to love you so much more.” 😭😭😭😭
“Someone protect my treasure.” OH is she gonna notice Kyo now??
Oh gosh the horror on Kyo’s face literally made my stomach sink
Unghhhh he recognizes her and she recognizes him in return this hurtssssss
“It’s okay if you forget me, but please remember her.” My freaking HEART CAN’T TAKE THIS
“Keep our old promise or I’ll never forgive you.” To find her when she’s lost! Ohhh how I wish she’d been able to say it all! Poor Kyo was traumatized for YEARS😭😭😭
Him running away to find her again!! The parallel!!! So cool!!!!!!
Ohhh and she’s seeing Katsuya again please that’s so precious😭😭😭😭

“You scared?”
Whumptober 2022 | Persona 4 The Animation
No.3: Hair’s Breadth From Death | Gun to Temple
No.29: What Doesn’t Kill Me... | Defiance
@whumptober-archive
In the long awaited confrontation against Inaba’s true serial murderer, Yu Narukami’s Persona is swiftly overcome by the Persona of Tohru Adachi, leaving Yu at Adachi’s mercy.
I find it weirdly funny that my last Whumptober 2022 entry starred a character voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch, and now this entry features two characters voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch. I assure you that is a coincidence, but to be fair, the man’s voice work is an absolutely legendary.
There are a lot of things I absolutely love about the anime adaptation of Persona 4, not the least of which is Yu’s characterisation - he is in my topmost favourite characters for a reason. Aaaand I can’t deny whumpy moments like this make me enjoy this anime all the more. There is honestly more whump in this anime than I would have expected, not like I’m at all complaining lol

Wonderful Top 7's: My Top 7 Favorite Fighting Game Characters #7: Aoko Aozaki (Melty Blood: Type Lumina): Long red hair? T-shirt jeans combo? Laidback & positive personality? Balanced playstyle that leans towards zoning? Giant laser beams!? SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! Oh wait, she’s free? Well, I had to pay for the game anyway so the point still stands.
#6:Darkrai (Pokken Tournament DX): After trying and liking quite a few members of Pokken's roster, I never would have thought that the edgelord Pokemon would wind up as my favorite. A trap character who can turn the shadows he leaves into dark vines and activate a super mode by trapping his foes in their own bad dreams? Sounds like a nightmare to fight but a dream to play and watch. Also, where Pokken 2?
#5: Dr. Mario (Super Smash Bros Series): The topic of my favorite Smash character changes on a dime. I don't so much have mains as characters that I play. However, my love for the Doc has been pretty consistent all things considered. From chucking pills at my cousin in Melee to back throwing my friends in Ultimate, playing this plumber turned pharmacist leaves a smile on my face nine times out of ten.
#4: Android 17 (Dragon Ball Fighterz): When I played Marvel 3, my favorite character was Iron Fist. A speedy ground centric, rekka machine with fun combos and awesome supers. MVP17 in FighterZ is similar in this regard but with additional points in his favor. Namely, I've used him more in actual matches, I have a stronger attachment to the character himself, and it was fun to watch his rise from DBFZ's worst to viable to an amazing character through balance patches.
#3: Tohru Adachi (Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Blazblue Cross Tag Battle): I loathed this character in Persona 4. I am entranced by this character in Arena. Among other things like his specials, supers, and renewed character arc, learning how to do his combo where he smacks his target between him and his persona like a tennis ball is one of my proudest fighting game moments. That and his back walk deserves to be hung up in a museum. Plus, they brought him back in Cross Tag Battle and not only gave him another great story moment but let me use him alongside some of my other favorites (who are unfortunately not on this list).
#2: Alex (Street Fighter 3 & 5, Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom): When I first laid eyes on him, I thought Alex was cool. That feeling has intensified after learning his simple combos, fun to use specials, and his ability to power bomb giant golden lighter men. There are other reasons to be sure but the major reason he's this high is that he is the only fighting game character I have bought games for just because he was in them. And I have not been disappointed yet (except in SF5 when he wasn't there at launch). Really hoping he makes it back into SF6 at some point...or any 3rd strike character for that matter.
#1: Axl Low (Guilty Gear XX+R, Xrd & Strive): The first (traditional) fighting character I ever tried to learn seriously (thanks to the game's bevy of awesome tutorials). A grab bag of varied tricks, a cocksure but friendly attitude, and the ability to knock your opponents around like a rag doll with chain sickles made me want to rock out hard. And then Strive game him a cooler outfit, time stopping powers, some new moves and a rock solid conclusion to his character arc and now he is number one. No regrets.

Kyoru-Sunflower by mairithetree
I have two moods for these two : sunny, soft, and sweet (while listening to   lo-fi playlists in the background) OR very emo and nostalgic (I’m preparing another fanart with that particular atmosphere. I want to see more emo fanarts featuring Kyo and Tohru. The kind of fanarts that give you the “ouch that hurts” feeling * _ * )
As you can see, Fruits Basket hasn’t left my mind; you can expect one or two to pop out in the future :3
Have a nice evening Fruits Basket folks <3 :3 !

[9:40am] momiji x reader
all characters aged up 18+
genre: lowkey angst, fluff, smut
warnings: uh... there’s some praise, thinking about other women while in a relationship and that’s about it i think...
requested: yes, from a friend
[a/n] i wasn’t gonna post this cause i ain’t know how the response was gonna be but it’s my first story so i hope y’all like it !! it was requested from my friend so i was like what the hell yknow... she seen season 3 momiji and was like “good lord what in the hell happened” and here we are lol
“ 5:34am ... ” the blonde boy read as he looked at the clock that rested on the nightstand.
he sat up and looked to his side where your sleeping form lays comfortably.
“ i’m sorry, ” he whispers as he lays his hand on your head, “ as much as i love you, i cant seem to forget about her... ”
you shift in your sleep, causing your upper half to become exposed by the sheet that covered shared bed. momiji sharply inhaled as the recollection of what happened only a few hours before now come rushing back into his mind.
the sound of your soft moans, the way your beautiful skin looks after being bombarded with love bites, and the way your breast bounced with each soft thrusts all come rushing to his mind and straight to his cock that’s now straining uncomfortably in his pants.
he curses to himself.
he feels guilty.
you’ve done so much for him after this curse was broken. you’d always stay by his side even before then, and this is how he repays you... by using you for your body and thinking about other women.
he palms his erect member and let’s out a breath he didn’t even know he was holding. slowly he stroked attempting to stay silent in order to not wake you.
suddenly, he feels the warmth of your bare breast resting upon his back. he turns his head to meet your eyes.
“ sorry my love, did i wake you? ” he ask with a soft smile.
“ no, don’t worry bunny, ” you kiss his shoulder, “ i’ve woke up on my own just a minute ago. ”
your hands meet his, resting upon his length.
“ momiji, even though your curse is broken you still have just as much energy as an actual bunny. ”
he laughs at your remark.
“ do you need my help? ” you asked, already pulling him down and straddling him before he can even answer.
the blood quickly rushed to his face as you position yourself above him.
“ baby, you really don’t have to- ” he was cut off by the intense feeling of being engulfed in your heat. he lets out a strained whine.
you wince at the slight stretch. momiji has changed a lot since you first met, his height being the most noticeable change. when it comes to his “ down there situation ” he isn’t as thick but he makes up for it in length, being slightly above average.
you let out moan as you finally get yourself settled, waiting for a minute to get used to the stretch. momiji thrust up, causing you to fall forward on his chest.
“ ah- wait- momiji, slow down. ” his hands settle at you waist holding you in place as he continuously thrust into you.
“ sorry, my love but i cannot wait. ” he smiles and starts to pick up the pace finally setting a rhythm. he sit up, hands roaming all over your body. “ you’re doing so good for me, good girl taking me so well... i’ll make sure to fill up. ”
he continues his soft yet brutal thrust, slowly kneading the skin of your ass.
“ momiji, ” you moan.
“ what is it my dear? ” he asked as his hands traveled up your sides and to your breast slowly teasing your nipples.
“ i heard what you said earlier, ” you panted as he continued his ministrations. “ i know you still feel for tohru, and i understand that no one ever forgets their first love. ” he starts to attack your breast leaving behind more hickeys, drowning out your every word. “ but i am here with you now, ” you pull his head off your chest, forcing him to look at you, he never ceases his thrusts. “ no matter how long it takes for you to get over her, i will stay with you no matter what because i love you. ” he slams you down on him, releasing inside you as you clamp down gushing around him. he holds back his moans gasping for as he released his firm hold on your hips.
“ i’m sorry... ” he rest his head on your bare chest, holding you close. “ i love you [y/n]. i love everything about you. i really do, ” he kisses your collarbone.
“ i know, i love you too momiji. i always will, even if you still have lingering feeling for her, i’m here with you right now. i’m the one holding you in my arms, not her. ” you kiss his forehead.
“ [y/n], don’t leave me. i’ll do better, for you. ”
“ don’t worry, ” you comb back his hair looking into his wide eyes, “ you won’t be able to get rid of me if you tried! ”
you both smile at each other, holding one another as you slowly drift off back to sleep.

Fruits Basket Manga Review , ch 110
The writer doesn’t need to rush to akito (antagonist) & give us quick background exposition & escalate her mentality to the exploding moment, simply cuz tohru (the protagonist) isn’t emotionally in her most vulnerable moment yet. Tohru’s issues will be presented deeper  with each pov chapter she’ll have. So what should the writer do now?
This is a connected plot, meaning the emotions belonging to the previous chapter are still lingering & needs to be dealt with. There is no stupid laughing & cooking or even dumber momentarily amnesia. Nope! There is this:
Tumblr media
-The Art of Writing Slow-Burns: (Lingering Emotions:)
Last time kyo hugged tohru thro the sheets. sth he wouldn’t do if it weren’t for the heartbreaking moment of tohru’s tears & the reason behind them. Why wouldn he do it? cuz he believes he’s the reason of her pain & is setting his mind on leaving her & being imprisoned as a punishment. He  wouldn’t do it cuz he loves her but he did it cuz he loves her. why? cuz love is illogical. Kyo’s heart moved him effortlessly to embrace her & “ his tenderness covered her pain” as the writer put it at the end of ch109.
Last time tohru hugged kyo thro the sheets, sth she wouldn’t do if it weren’t for the comfort of his warmth enveloping her loneliness & providing safety & a home. A home can a person. Why wouldn she do it? cuz Tohru is someone who hides pain behind a smile, someone who thinks she’s ugly & unlovable cuz she’s grieving still after all this time. She’s thinks she’s a burden. But here she confessed to kyo unprompted or advised by anybody. He only asked a fleeting question. but tohru cant hide who she is friom him anymore. Still, he accepted her & tenderly held her thro the sheets & she threw her body at him, she initiated the hug.
The sheet hig is the biggest emotional moment between kyo/tohru yet. It altered how they feel for each other cuz in that moment tohru’s mask fell & kyo was the most honest with himself emotionally. That’s not sth you move from with the stupid ED song. They both try to carry out normally afterwards cuz they live together after all. The slightest touch brings..... sexual tension!!!  it was so bad poor yuki left the house running!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
The writer cleverly escalates the sexual tension as they awkwardly try to find a talking topic, then dissolves it a bit when kto asks if tohru wants to go out together & where, then escalates it when tohru suggests buying eggs cuz she’s awkward, then dissolves it when kyo grumpily agrees but this is just grocery shopping” not a fun going out”, the escalates it when tohru said she’s happy for just bring together with him regardless of the location & kyo looses it! sexual tension explodes!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The target of the slow-burn isn’t the characters... the target is the audience! the writer plays with their emotions & cleverly puts the audience in a place where they desperately want these two idiots together but still remember why they aren’t! that’s very important. Having the readers cheer for a romantic relationship includes the readers understanding the obstacles ahead & how big they are & still cheer. If the obstacles are meh~ the readers will find the couple unrealistic, if the obstacles are so big & the couples emotions aren't buildup properly, then the couple themselves will feel meh~. Glad kyoru survived such writing mistakes both manga & anime ( anime hurt their characters more than their relationship).
-Yuki wants to move on from the unofficial son third wheeling his mom & her man:
The writer jokes abt yuki admitting he felt as a son watching his mon & her bf. I love tha this joke becuz it cleverly addresses the following points:
it is cleverly weaved in with the kyoru incident from last chapter. Sth happen & yuki doesn't know what is & doesn't want to! Yuki represents the audience I talked abt in the slow-burn point above. He is us. He’ll cheer for them to be together & will be so frustrated when they can’t. It adds to yuki confronting kyo at the climax!!! You see in the anime kyo/yuki stopped interacting much in se03. Then tada~~ big fight when it’s a must! & can’t be escaped... Here we still have kyo/yuki moments despite each boy moving away from his issues being the fault of the other. Basically better writing.....
The writer cleverly used this to address that yuki still feels like tohru’s son sometimes despite being more independent now, which is natural as you cant switch ur feelings with a button. But also the writer doesnt stay in this moment long & use it to build the next moment.. yuki/Aya , yuki/machi & aya/mine.... sadly all there dynamics are shortened in the anime like kyoru’s.
-I don’t think yuki/Aya  moment suffered much from the cuts, the entire school parents meeting ep us enough to reconcile the brothers. Aya defended yuki that day & so did yuki. He completely accepted him & stood up to him in front of the mom.
- More aya/mine would’ve been good to see & I would’ve preferred it to yuki/motoko moments in the anime that served nothing. but aya/mine too are stand alone story. They’re the most alike couple in a healthy way. Aya is the guy who protected his woman the most. simply cuz he’s the snake. snakes are secretive. he kept her to himself, even from yuki!!! impressive.
- What I lament from the cut of this mini yuki adventure?
1- This: ( yuki’s facial expressions) This is sth the anime fears, either cuz (a) pretty yuki is 100% pretty all the time, so no expressiveness cuz it leads to showing eyebrows & hiding them under layers of hair is the A.B.C of pretty characters... (b) Yuki in the anime is a prince 98% of the time, except with kyo (they got rid of this in se03 & give them one honest/ugly moment together) & with kakeru (one tiny moment in se03 in match’’s focus ep & then quickly back to prince yuki!)..., ugh!!!!!! I hate how yuki is prince thro & thro in the anime!!that’s why they couldn’t get rid of any motoko content!!! he’s a prince there... heck! school girls float after him the graduation ceremony... what’s up with that!! lol.
Tumblr media
2-. This: ( machi with the toy that tohru/kisa/kagura/momiji & kiro like! so cute!!! also, foreshadowing yuki’s future chosen extended family! (his bro & his wife), (yuki & his wife) & best friend/his brother in law! Also, yuki is so himself! no glitters, no bubbles & no pretending anger! <3
Tumblr media
Side Notes:
The lovely @mizzraynelly made notice kto’s speech in ch109 abt not vising his mom’s grave! Even tho it’s such a minor line, it’s one of the biggest cuts that foreshadow the accumulation of kyo’s guilt towards his mom. Kyo’s thing is guilt towards ppl he loves & fear of hurting them, by keeping this feeling alive in readers’ minds, the writer is making sure that the climax will hurt like sharp knives cuz the readers are on the same wave liength as kyo!!! epic buildup consists of tiny subtle pieces!
 Luckily, kyoru as a ship felt so strong in both manga & anime despite the later cutting half of their moments. Why? cuz the chosen cuts didnt affects the romantic relationship...no... the cuts affects the characters’ own personal struggle... most precisely tohru. Kyo’s own character struggles had better luck in the anime despite the cuts, simply cuz (a) was drawn with very expressive emotions & the anime team lingered on them in his scenes. (b) His character design as a whole was very expressive, the anime team didnt give him constant wide eyes like tohru & didn’t fear expr4essivness will affect for his “beauty “ like yuki. (c) kyo was given one ep per season for his issues which altho not much but way better than tohru (d) most important: kyo’s issues are very universal & very relatable” feeling guilt, mistakes & choosing wrong. That’s sth we all do!!! Tohru’s thing is grieve: this is very personal & most ppl experience it differently.
I love kyo’s oufit!!! we have a hint of this moment in se03, ep 10 when yuki was fighting kyo... but they made yuki see them shopping as opposed of him seeing them being sexually charged!
I’m so mad this kyoru moment is cut!!!!!! tohru as a woman with pending sexual emotions is so refreshing & underrated in the trope of “ girl saves guys”. Also, it contradicts the pure mom image that’s been suffocating her since se01 ep 1!!!!! oh now i know why it’s cut... That’s why! momma tohru is so pure for such things & only when it’s the last two eps, then will allow her to be a woman choosing to live away with her man by her own desire! Why the anime only allow things ti happen when there’s no escape!!! I’ve always felt tohru/kyo is the type of couple to be expressive emotionally & sexually with each other based on seeing that ALL of their romantic interaction involves body language & I’m so happy there’s a canon proof so early before the future glimpse in finale!!!!!!
I liked the aya-story, but it felt like the typical “ lesson of the day” formula, so I didnt analyze it much, but I enjoyed the brotherly interaction so much!! It had a gold mine of yuki being himself & so nit a prince! Im so happy I saw it! <3.
Every time yuki looked expressive is a happy moment for me!

Wrapped up in you
Summary: Sharing a scarf with your girl when you don’t like things around your neck is something that can be so personal..
Rating: T
Also found on AO3 and FF.net
Based off that picture in the very last scene with Kyoru sharing a scarf <3
“Wow!" He heard her gasp. "It's snowing!" But then she furrowed her brow. "But it was so mild this morning."
Neither of them had brought coats with them, but Tohru brought her scarf with the pom poms. She really loved that thing and it was cute.
"Kyo-kun," she grabbed his hand. "Are you cold?"
He didn't think he could ever truly be cold as long as she was around.
But he did shiver a bit. "A little. The temperature really dropped."
"Well here!" She took her scarf off, handing it to him. "Maybe this will help."
He knocked her head gently. "Then you'll get cold, dummy."
"I'll be okay!" She waved her arms. "I don't want you to get sick!"
He could tell this was gonna go nowhere fast. He rolled his eyes fondly and grabbed the scarf. She looked at him expectantly and he got an idea. It was cheesy, but knowing her, she'd probably love it.
He pulled her in closer, wrapping one end of the scarf around her neck, and the other end very loosely around his own.
"There." He said triumphantly, breath visible, "now neither of us have to be cold." He punctuated with a gentle whack with one of the poms and she giggled. He paused and then whacked her again. "Huh, this is kinda fun."
He was met with a whack on his own cheek with his girlfriend grinning impishly. "You're right, it is."
He gently whacked her again, this time pressing the pom right on top of her nose, shaking it as she tried to bat it away.
She tried to do a little twirl but the scarf wasnt quite long enough for that so she just did an awkward twist. The temperature was dropping by a lot and her nose was starting to turn red.
He leaned over to kiss it and she gave a questioning look.
He shrugged. "It looked cold."
She grabbed his hand, peeking at him from under her lashes. "I think my lips are cold too."
Subtle. He cradled her face and kissed her gently. "Better?"
"Still feels pretty cold."
He hummed, kissing her again. It was something he never really got tired of doing. She fisted her hands in his uniform jacket as he just kissed her slowly, careful to keep it chaste.
"Oi, lovebirds," he jumped when he felt a hand slap his back and saw Uotani to his side. She smirked. "When you're done being gross, you might wanna actually head home before you turn into snowmen." She put her arm over her head like a visor. "It's supposed to snow all night."
"Oh really?" Tohru asked. "I had work tonight."
She grunted. "So did I. But I called off. You should too."
She frowned. "I wouldn't wanna trouble them-"
He'd heard enough. "You're not walking to work in a blizzard. If you don't wanna call off, then just have Momiji do it for you. His dad owns the place."
She bit her lip. "I suppose…"
"Momiji Sohma is quite fond of you," Hanajima came out of nowhere. "I would imagine he wouldn't expect you to risk yourself in such weather."
"C'mon, we should go." Uotani said, wrapping an arm around Tohru's neck. "It's already cold and it’s only supposed to get worse."
She relented and he followed behind her closely, the scarf still hanging off his neck.
"Apparently we're supposed to get 15 cm," he heard Uotani say vaguely.
Tohru clapped her hands in excitement. "Really? Wow. We could play in the snow!"
"We could have a snowball fight." And then Uotani smirked. "Betcha I could beat Kyon."
He rolled his eyes. "Don't start a fight you can't finish, Yankee."
She snorted. "Yeah okay. You know your ‘bad boy’ image is ruined with that scarf around your neck."
He shrugged. It wasn't like he had anything to be embarrassed about.
Tohru was talking to Hanajima now about something, her face lit up. He smiled softly. She was happy and that's all he cared about.
The wind was really picking up and everyone in the group did a full-body shudder. It really was getting freezing and the snow was sinking into his clothes uncomfortably. Tohru was trying to hide it, but she was shivering. How did she manage to wear skirts in this kind of weather?
They parted ways with Uotani and Hanajima and no sooner than they rounded the corner, he wrapped his arms around Tohru's waist from behind.
"Are you cold?" He whispered.
She nodded. "Only a little."
He kissed her temple. "C'mon, let's get home."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the time they got into the doorway, her teeth were chattering and he rubbed her arms to try and warm her up.
"My, my, my," he heard Shigure say from the kitchen door and he looked up to see him standing there, looking way too amused. "I understand you kids are in love, but there is a time and place."
"Piss off," he snapped. "It's snowing and freezing outside."
"Well, that's why coats exist." He said smugly. "Honestly, Kyo-kun, do you not ever check the weather forecasts?
He was gonna punch this asshole. He felt a light tug on his shirt and he brought his attention back to his currently shivering girlfriend.
"D-do y-you m-m-m-mind if I shower first? I...c-can w-wait if you w-want to."
He pushed her back gently towards the bathroom. "Go shower before you get sick."
"O-okay."
It was once he heard the bathwater running that Shigure turned back to him, smirking. "Nice scarf." He gave him a flat look in response, which he took as a cue to continue talking. "Tsk, tsk, you made a rookie mistake just now."
"What are you talking about?" He asked on impulse, and then came to the conclusion that maybe he shouldn't have.
Shigure's grin only grew wider. "When a beautiful woman you're with is going to the shower, it's only natural you offer to join her."
Kyo grabbed him by the collar, growling, "Don’t talk about her like that, you fucking creep. I’ll kill you!”
"Scary~" And then something else seemed to come to him. "Where's Yuki-kun? Don't tell me you left him out there."
"How should I know? He was never even with us."
And that was when the phone rang. Shigure waved, saying "I'll let you handle that” and then went back to his own room, hopefully to die.
He scoffed. He didn't usually answer the phone but he had a good idea who it was.
"Hello?" He sighed out.
"Kyo?" Yuki's voice came through the speaker. He sounded surprised, which was fair.
"Yeah?"
"Where’s Honda-san?"
"In the shower.
"I see. when she gets out, tell her not to save me any dinner. The weather's getting bad so I went home with Kakeru."
"Fine. That it?"
"Yeah."
"Great. See ya."
"Wait."
"What?"
"You and Honda-san are alone...don't do anything stupid."
His face heated up. "Shigure's here, you jackass." He gritted. And probably eavesdropping. "And that's none of your business."
"Oh, he's actually home?"
"Yeah."
"My condolences."
"Whatever. Anything else?"
"No. You can hang up now."
And he was about to do just that but something paused him. "Oi."
"What?"
"You too," he mumbled through gritted teeth because he really didn't wanna think about Yuki doing anything like that. "Don’t do anything stupid."
A pause and then a "Thanks" before the line went dead.
"Oh, was that Yuki-kun?" He heard Tohru behind him, her skin flushed from the steam and her hair still damp. “Is he alright?”
He grunted in affirmation, trying not to look at how a stray water droplet ran down her neck. "He's fine. He's at Manabe's, so don't wait up for him on dinner."
She made to hug him, but then reeled back. "Kyo-kun, you need to get out of those wet clothes! You'll get sick."
If it were just them, he would suggest she help him with that, but Shigure was here and he was not gonna give him the satisfaction of that.
He patted her head. "I'm going."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Without work to go to, her and Kyo-kun took the night in. She had already changed into her sleepwear (which consisted of one of his shirts that was way too big on her and a pair of flannel pants).
He had changed too, in a loose long-sleeve and a pair of sweatpants.
With Shigure-san here, they couldn't exactly do anything more than kiss, so they'd just ended up watching a movie.
He'd fallen asleep halfway through and was currently clinging to her, head on her chest.
She could really admire him without being questioned when he was asleep, how his nose wasn’t set completely straight, the smattering of light freckles on the bridge that were more pronounced in the summer.
She lightly stroked his strong jawline and his arms tightened around her waist.
She smiled to herself. He was such a cute sleeper. She lightly threaded her fingers through his fiery hair, noting how it curled around his ears now.
It's getting so long..
She heard her phone vibrate from the nightstand and strained to reach it without disturbing her sleeping boyfriend.
She saw the message was from Uo-chan and then shot up in alarm at the attachment.
She heard a light groan and saw Kyo-kun blearily blinking his eyes open and she felt a little guilty.
"Wha's goin' on?" He mumbled.
"Uo-chan just sent me something."
He hummed. "'Splains why you woke me up."
She was pretty sure he was being sarcastic based off the grumpy look on his face but paired with the messy hair, it didn't have much of an effect.
"Look at this." She shoved the phone under his nose and watched him squint as he put his own hand over hers.
It was a picture of them, sharing the scarf with snow falling around them. Neither of them were looking at the camera but she was chatting with Hana-chan, though the angle of the photo cut her poor friend off, and Kyo-kun just watched her, looking content.
He normally hated getting pictures taken so it was rare to see him so relaxed in one.
"Was this from today?" He asked.
"Yep! Uo-chan took it." Then she cocked her head. "I wonder how she managed to do it without us noticing."
He stretched, his shirt riding above his waist, which she attempted to steadfastly ignore for her own sanity.
"Probably because I wasn't looking at her."
He always said things like that so easily and it was a marvel each time.
"I know you hate pictures," she started hesitantly, "but do you mind if I keep this one?"
"I don't mind pictures," he said softly. "Not with you, anyway."
She blushed, smiling to herself. "Right." She put one foot down on the carpet. "I'll go ask Shigure-san if I can borrow his printer."
A warm hand grabbed her wrist. "Do it tomorrow," he said. "It's late." And then he slumped on top of her. "I want my pillow back."
He was actually pouting and it was quite possibly one of the most adorable things she’d ever seen.
She just stared at the picture of them, smiling softly, Kyo-kun’s chin on her shoulder.
"You look cute," he murmured.
"I look the same as always, don't I?"
"Yeah."
He was warm. Like a steady heater on her back. It made her feel sleepy.
At some point, she’d been gently coaxed on her back again, eyes heavy and her boyfriend a comforting weight on her chest. She managed to text Uo-chan a 'Thank you' through bleary eyes before letting sleep take her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day, she bought a frame and added the picture to her shelf next to her mother and Kyo-kun’s beads.
“You’re such a sap,” he’d said when he walked in and saw it.
But he couldn’t hide how his eyes kept softening when they landed on it.
Not from her.
at the whisper of a violin
summary: momiji gives one last violin performance, just for the two of them, in which he bares his soul. a story in which tohru doesn’t understand, until she does.
prompt: momiru for @eroshiyda ! i hope you enjoy <3
pairings: momiji sohma/tohru honda
words: 1495
warnings: none
note: here is a spotify link to the violin piece, “none but the lonely heart” by tchaikovsky, that i listened to on a loop while writing this :)
“Tohru!”
Tohru turns away from the stove, catching just the sound of Momiji’s voice as he pauses at the front door to tug off his shoes. It takes only a moment before he comes into the kitchen, a bright smile on his face.
Tohru grins at him. “Hello—”
“Before I chicken out,” Momiji cuts in, “I promised that I would give you a private concert.”
Tohru blinks. “Oh, Momiji, you didn’t really have to—”
“I wanted to!” Momiji interrupts again. The excitement is bleeding into nervousness which bleeds into his voice, into the slight shake of his hands, into the grin at his lips. He hoists the violin case in his hands up, just showing that he has it. “Come on, take a break from cooking. You work too hard, Tohru.”
Tohru glances between him and the vegetables that she had been cutting on the counter. Slices of carrots and scallions are resting in piles at the cutting board, the knife still in her hands. The miso soup in progress is simmering on the stove. “I suppose this can wait a few minutes.”
“Great!” Momiji grins, grabbing her hand.
He pulls her out of the kitchen and towards the table, Tohru following him with a yelp. She sits down at the table, legs folded underneath her. Momiji stands across the table from her— he sets down the violin case and pulls out the violin.
“I got all prepared earlier,” he says, putting the violin to his shoulder. “I didn’t want to have to warm up while you were watching.”
Tohru smiles at him, something warm coming to her cheeks. He’s more considerate than people give him credit for, she thinks. There’s something about the brightness of his smile and the energy that’s constantly running through his veins and coming out in bursts of laughter and movement that makes him seem childish, that makes him seem like he’s less than he is. Seeing him here, holding the violin, in his element, Tohru thinks that maybe she’s beginning to see through all of that.
“What are you going to play?” she asks, rubbing her palms against her knees.
She’s sweating from standing over the heat of the stove, and she can feel a kind of nervousness rising up in his throat. She can’t place why it comes, but Tohru has always had a good sense for people, and she can’t shake the feeling that Momiji is saying something with this performance that he can’t say out loud.
Last time that they had talked, Momiji had said that he was going to quit playing violin, but he had promised her a concert, just between the two of them. Tohru is, with a sudden and acute awareness, terrified that this is going to be the last time that he plays violin. She doesn’t know what to do with that, with this gift— if she’s the last person to hear him play, play for real, that means he’s given up on his dream of a concert just for his family.
She can’t let that happen.
For the hundredth time that week, Tohru promises herself that she’s going to find a way to break the curse. This isn’t going to be Momiji’s last concert. His mother hasn’t heard him play, not yet.
“Wish Upon A Star,” Momiji says, smiling, “just like you asked for. I’ve been practicing all week.”
“You learned it so quickly,” Tohru says, more of a breath than a sentence.
He shrugs, the violin hitting his chin. “I wanted to do this for you. As a thank you.”
“A thank you for what?” she asks, frowning.
“For being my friend,” he says, a soft smile on his face. It’s sad, though, and she can’t quite figure out why. “Are you ready?”
Tohru nods wordlessly, and Momiji begins to play.
She doesn’t know that she’s crying until she feels the tears drip from her cheeks to her clasped hands. She didn’t know, before this, how much music can move a person. How much it can say.
Even in such a simple song, Tohru can hear the talent that rests in Momiji’s fingertips, she can feel the longing in the notes— the wishing for something that you can never have, the aching desire to hold it in your hands and the coldness in your palms where you know it will never lay. She can hear every emotion that she’s ever felt poured into each note.
Momiji closes his eyes while he plays, swaying back and forth slightly, his hands moving deftly across the instrument— fingers pressing down at the strings, wrist at a sharp angle, the bow of the violin falling across the strings as if it were the wind brushing through the trees. He gets lost in the music, lost in each dip and trill.
Tohru watches with wide eyes, feeling the tears falling from her face as Momiji brings the song to its climax. He picks up speed, the bow moving quickly, his fingers flying across the strings until she can’t differentiate between ring and pinky. She watches him as he stands there, his stance strong, rooted into the ground with a kind of force that she doesn’t understand— like he’s scared that the music will give him wings and let him fly above the house and up to the sun. Like he’s afraid of the flight of sound.
The music spills out from the violin in a kind of heartbreak, in a kind of longing, in a kind of wanting. There are no words for this, Tohru thinks. There is only sheet music. There is only song.
She can’t put all of her thoughts together as she listens, can't string together a coherent sentence. She loses herself to the music. She lets herself fall into it, swimming among the notes, letting all of the feeling spill out of her chest and into the violin. She feels the tears falling faster, and she loses her breath as Momiji curls out one last note.
It’s filled to the brim with longing and wanting and words that can never be said out loud.
The two of them let that last note hang in the air for a moment, let it disappear into the wind. Momiji keeps his eyes closed for that second, just drinking in the sudden silence.
When Tohru finally brings herself to clap, Momiji opens his eyes. He turns to her with a sad smile.
“You’re crying,” he says softly.
Tohru wipes at her cheeks with her shirt sleeve, trying to clean herself of all sadness. She feels drained, in a way, like the song had taken everything out of her. “It was beautiful.”
“Thank you,” he murmurs. He places the violin carefully in the case again, exhaling slowly. “I can’t continue my lessons anymore, but I’m glad I got to perform for you.”
Tohru swallows. “Thank you, Momiji.”
“Anytime, Tohru,” he says quietly. He chews at his lip for a moment before sitting down across from her. He busies himself with loosening the violin bow, with setting it away, with carefully strapping the violin into its case, with everything he can do but look at her. “Do you understand?”
“What do you mean?”
“What I’m saying.” Momiji takes a breath. “Tohru, do you know that I love you?”
Tohru stares at him. Her cheeks are still wet. There’s a new kind of longing in the air, a new kind of song. “What?”
Momiji doesn’t look at her, just closes the violin case and takes a breath. “You don’t have to say anything. But I’m glad you liked the song.”
“I loved it,” Tohru says softly.
Momiji stands up. He’s gotten taller; when did that happen? When did his eyes get so sad? “I’ll see you later, okay?”
Tohru nods as Momiji takes his violin case and starts to leave the room. Just as he passes her, she grabs his wrist, her arm hitting the violin case. She winces at the bump, but doesn’t cry out. She just stares at the space where he had been standing, holding onto him. Momiji stills.
“I loved it,” Tohru repeats, and Momiji makes a startled noise. “Do you understand?”
Momiji is quiet, and Tohru takes a breath. She says, “Will you play for me again, eventually?”
“Whatever you want,” Momiji says, his voice choked. “I’ll play whatever you want.”
Tohru lets go of his wrist, standing up. She looks at him, searching his eyes for something, for some kind of question, some kind of answer. Carefully, she brushes a curl of hair away from his eyes. “There’s a new Mogeta movie in theatres.”
“I’m free tomorrow,” Momiji breathes, voice catching on a new brightness, a new music.
His eyes meet hers, and she smiles at him. She can still hear the song in her head, she can still feel the tears drying at her cheeks, she can still taste the sound of the violin in his words. “I’ll see you then.”
𓃠 AYO YOUR BOYFRIEND IS STILL A TSUNDERE BUT VERY SOFT CHECK
𓃠 Anyways
𓃠 MAN WAS HE OVERJOYED
𓃠 HE CAN FINALLY HOLD YOU IN HIS ARMS WITHOUT HIM TURNING INTO A CAT
𓃠 When he knew that the curse was broken he ran to you and engulfed you in a big hug
𓃠 My poor baby had tears of joy to finally fear your warmth like normal people 🥺
Would deny it later though 🧍‍♀️tsundere
𓃠 He makes sure that he makes up for the times you couldn’t touch each other
𓃠 Cuddles you for HOURS and I mean you are not complaining- are you? ಠ_ಠ
𓃠 The most loving make-out sessions that cease to exist
Would always whisper about how much he loves you and how he loves all of you in between the kisses
𓃠 He is so soft for you aw 🥰
𓃠 Holding hands is something he loves a lot cause it reassures him
𓃠 Back hugs~!
Always nuzzles his face into the crook of your neck with a smile
𓃠 T i c k l e F i g h t s
𓃠 If you cup his face and say softly and with determination that you love him there will be three outcomes
1~ Kyo.exe stopped functioning and is now bursting into loads of blush
2~ If he was feeling down or emotional then he would tear up a little JUST A LITTLE and hug you tightly returning your words
3~ Will throw anything soft he finds at you and starts screaming that you shouldn’t just say that out of nowhere while there is blush still evident on his face
𓃠 Wether with the curse or without it you mean so much to him and what removing the curse does is allowing physical contact which is a plus but he wouldn’t mind if it was still there as long as you are in his life
𓃠 He just loves you unconditionally
Furuba S2, E22 - Thought Post - SPOILERS! (Super Long Post!)
I can't believe it! Here we are at S2, E22, we are almost at the end of the season, and the wait between the end of Season 2 to the beginning of Season 3 is going to be pretty brutal. I know it will be. I can feel it in my bones, lol. Anyway, let's jump right into this episode.
First, I absolutely love how they decided to show Yuki's feelings on Tohru. The way it was presented didn't just feel like a slideshow of flashbacks/past events. A good example to compare this too would be in Season 1 when it came to the New Year's episode. I remember really not being all that fond of how they implemented the flashbacks in that episode - they felt too much like they were just filling space. But here, they were executed very nicely. I think it also helped that we got moments like this one:
Tumblr media
It made the flashback moments more transformative and it really hits home how Yuki feels about Tohru. It takes the scene of when Tohru placed the blanket over a sleeping Momiji, Hiro, and Kisa, and put Yuki in their place. They even made Yuki look like a child - kid Yuki. It makes it so that there is no more ambiguity with that scene and what it meant to Yuki. When we go back and watch that scene now, we can imagine the later take on it that we see in this episode. I feel like this image that we see here was what Yuki was actually imagining in his head at that moment.
We also get this moment briefly foreshadowed and shown to us, which is fantastic! (I legit gasped when I saw it!).
Tumblr media
An excellent bit of jumping forward, in a very subtle way, that is noticeable to manga fans, but isn't quite as obvious as the Hatori and Mayu scene (which I do adore, but it is a very obvious flash forward).
It also makes me really excited to see what they might do with Momiji, when we get the reveal that he views Tohru romantically. Momiji's reveal isn't presented as personally as Yuki's is here, but still, they may add in a bit more or presented it in a slightly different way, and I am here for that possibility.
I also think it was a fantastic choice for this episode to add in small details like these:
Tumblr media
Yuki kicking the soccer ball back and forth with Kakeru added some movement and extra humor to the episode. It gave more life to the scene, which is important when you get such a big retrospective bit of content from a character that is very internally based. That scene also added more to Yuki and Kakeru's friendship and highlights Yuki letting loose more. In the manga we do see them throw the ball back and forth at each other once or twice, but not to the same level and degree as we see here in the anime. It's one of the advantages of the animation.
Tumblr media
Kimi going off to talk to one of the characters also works as a way to bring the episode back to a more active and external place, rather than the more passive and internal place that it was in before. Plus, it's another little moment that helps makes the characters and school setting feel more lived in and realistic.
There is one more aspect of this episode, related to Yuki, that I want to talk about, but I feel I want to end my thought post with that. So, instead, I'm going to talk about some of the other things very briefly here before jumping into that:
1. The Kyoru scenes were gorgeous and lovely! And the script keep away moment was so adorable, omg! I also love how Yuki says that they were at an “elementary school level,” lol. The way they drew and animated Kyo’s facial expressions in this episode were really great. Especially this moment:
Tumblr media
It’s hard to capture in a still frame, but the way his hair raised up and face narrowed in anger - it’s very much like an angry, hissing cat (without resorting to the more comedic way of depicting that that we’ve seen in the past).
Tumblr media
2. I love how they depicted Kyo's flash to Kyoko. It was unnerving, as it should be, and they have made the flashes remain on the screen longer and more concrete than the flashes that we saw in the past. This makes sense, since it ties into Kyo's own perception of these flashes and his own relationship with those flashes and moments in his past.
I think it really makes it clear in that moment that Yuki has finally started moving forward from his trauma. It isn't completely gone, but he has taken steps to overcome it. Meanwhile, Kyo is still stuck (as is Tohru, though that isn't touched on in this episode yet). I really enjoy how Furuba has relationships, as well as individual character development, move at different paces. It's very true to life.
3. Excuse me, the music that played during the Ayame and Mine scenes this episode? FABULOUS! I loved it and, even though the sound was different, the energy really did remind me of the old Ayame theme from the 01 series (those bagpipes really were something! lol).
Tumblr media
4. In the manga they were rehearsing the play in the classroom (or, that was what I had always assumed), but here they are doing rehearsal in the gym and I like this switch. It's makes the play and culture festival feel closer. So rewriting the whole script holds a bit more weight to it (like, wow! that is such a wild idea/thing to do with the festival so close!).
5. The humor was spot on this episode. This reassures me that Sorta Cinderella's (yes, I am sticking with that title, lol) humor will be adapted correctly for the anime.
6. They really got across the Yuchi moment really well. Very nicely done:
Tumblr media
So, now, this leaves me with the last thing that I want to touch on in this massive post, which is comphet (compulsive heterosexuality). This is something that a lot of LGBTQIA+ people experience, especially during high school/their teen years. Now, Takaya-sensei likely wasn't aware of this term, nor was it likely her intent to really explore it. But she does. And it's so important!
I think it can be really hard for some people to really understand what Yuki means and is going through right here, because media perpetuates the idea that guys and girls can't be friends - that the only bonds they can have with each other is romantic ones - especially when they are around the same age and are high school aged. It's a narrative that is so constantly pushed in media and society that female and male characters will be shipped before they've even interacted with each other.
I know that there is the thought that, because of this plot line, Yuki should have been gay, but this confusion over different types of love is actually something that aromantic and asexual people struggle with a lot too. Especially in high school. I also think comphet is something that is so pervasive in societies all around the world that it is something that a lot of straight/heterosexual people experience too. Media will sometimes brush up to this idea, usually in a situation like we see in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, were two childhood friends who are a guy and girl are in high school and they mix up deep platonic feelings for romantic ones - because they feel that is what is expected of them - and also because we, as a society, often fail to highlight how deep friendships and platonic love can go.
I do want to be clear that I'm invalidating the interpretation/headcanon of Yuki being gay. If you have that headcanon - go with it! Rather, I just wanted to comment on how comphet is something that I think can affect anyone of any sexuality, and I'm just glad that we saw it get talked about in Furuba (even if that specific terminology wasn't used).
Also, kudos to Yuki and Takaya-sensei for having Yuki deny the idea of having a romantic partner (specifically with the implication of a girlfriend) who acts as a surrogate mother / emotional support for a man. This is an issue found throughout all cultures (I mean, just look at most American sitcom shows), and Japan is no exception. The idea of a "mother complex" is a really complicated one in Japanese culture and society (and still present to this day). But here is an article that I found from 1992. It's written in English, but contains quotes from actual Japanese psychologists on the matter.
Tumblr media
While Yuki doesn't outright condemn these sorts of relationships, he takes more of a "I don't care what other people decide to do for themselves" route, the fact that we see Yuki not wanting this for himself, combined with none of the other relationships having this relationship dynamic, and then the message of the upcoming Sorta Cinderella play...well, I think it gets across the idea that this isn't a wholly desirable relationship dynamic. And I really like that.
Anyway, next week is Sorta Cinderella and I am excited for that! I'm also really interested in seeing what Episode 24 will be. Once we find out the contents of Episode 24, then I think it will be easy to see where they are going to end this season, but as of right now, it's still a bit up in the air, and that's rather thrilling. It's nice to be surprised. :)
I would love to hear those Akito headcanons! (Also your Akito metas are amazing :D)
Thanks!!! As requested, here's some of the Akito headcanons from my masterdoc:
-Akito slowly and intimidatingly slinks around the estate because she is a powerful and scary God certainly not because she will pass out if she stands up too fast
-at the end of Furuba Akito should have permanently ended things with Shigure and then walked around acting like a 50 year old twice divorced woman even though she's like around 20 and they weren't even formally dating. Ex: Akito, wearing a huge vintage fur coat she found in some closet over slacks and a blouse, taking a sip from a glass filled with a beverage comprised of like one drop of wine and a bunch of cranberry juice: "Just kicked my ex out for the second time. Good riddance, you see-"
-Stole an eyeliner from Kagura one time when she was like 13 and promptly stabbed herself in the eye with it on accident and blamed Kagura.
-Can't even use a microwave. Don't let her cook your kitchen will burn
-When she was a baby Ayame tried to recreate the presentation of Simba with her and dropped her on the floor
-The one time she broke a bone it was because she got pissed off and punched a wall really hard
-Didn't like lit class. Likes reading but hates things like "effort" and "critical thinking." Payed someone else to write the essays she mailed in to school.
-Lesbian but doesn't know what a gay is. Doesn't think anyone suspects anything when she's climbing all over Kureno and Shigure not just because she's generally clingy but because she doesn't know gay people exist. Someone (Hana) has to stage an intervention to inform her that she is gay years in the future after months of everyone having to listen to her talk about how pretty and neat girls are as part of what she thinks is her unlearning being a raging misogynist.
-Demigirl she/they nonbinary but doesn't figure it out for years after she stopped presenting as a man
-Gets anxious about how clumsy Tohru is because of… that incident. One time saw Tohru fall down a flight of stairs and panicked and now she links arms with her anytime they go on stairs.
-Actually sorta likes dressing androgynously when it's her choice. Chronic dressing like a gay person syndrome.
-Didn't keep her hair long. Cut it off after like a month in a moment of passion with a pair of kitchen shears and then had to reluctantly slink off to have someone make it look presentable.
-Secretly loves plushies but is too embarrassed to buy them for herself. Slowly acquires a hoard postcanon and can bury herself in a pile of them.
-She's very light and can be easily picked up and carried around by any of her friends that want to
-Googled "is hitting people bad?"
-Hana can call Akki over by pspspsps ing at her like a cat and Akki HATES it but still falls for it every time
-Doesn't get anything more than a flip phone and work laptop until postcanon. Generally REALLY sheltered, would get addicted to the first video game she got to play. Probably Animal Crossing.
-Secretly read every book of Warriors as a middleschooler but it became unsecret when she got into a fight with Haru about who could do a better human!Scourge cosplay.
-As an adult Kisa is taller than her.
-Mega lightweight with pretty much everything. Will either LOOSE IT and have an anxious breakdown or space out staring at the wall for 3 hours if she drinks coffee. Would probably be strongly affected by too much sugar. Strictly prohibited from drinking alcohol.
-As a child tried to convince the boys that the zodiac girls all had cooties
-Either can't swim or taught herself in her stupidly large tub.
-Sensory issues, does badly with bright lights, loud/annoying noises, non neutral temperatures, ect.
-Has perpetual cold icicle hands
-Crashes through several rebellious teen phases as an adult trying to find herself postcanon. Bleaches her hair and dyes it some unnatural color in the bathroom, immediately regrets it and dyes it black again. Nobody ever knows.
-One time ate a leaf because she was bored and has -10 impulse control
-Makes other people order for her at restaurants
-Postcanon she has a pencil box FULL of animal shaped squishies Tohru gave her
-Was one of those kids that got A's without studying (also canonically homeschooled and ik that crowd)
-Starts painting her nails black after she meets Hana. Likes the symbolism
-Called Hatori her brother by accident once and they both silently agreed to never speak of it
-Rin anonymously mailed her the "I'm sorry women" hat
-Realized she had almost no interests and started ping ponging between hobbies as she tried and then ditched them upon not being immediately amazing at said hobbies. Eventually is given encouragement to keep on trying instead of giving up because she believes she won't be good at it. One of the things she liked was doing stuff with flowers, but she initially ditched it after she killed all the plants she tried to take care of (@ Akki, lying flopped down on a windowsill: Why is everything I touch destroyed… @ her dead flowers: *are dead*). She goes back to it though when she realizes accidentally offing some plants is not a universal statement about her morality and eventually figures it out. Is told to get a personal creative project to work on by her therapist and she sits in the garden and makes a little journal with entries about the flowers and their symbolism complete with illustrations.
-Connected, has a weirdly large amount of flower symbolism and lore memorised postcanon because of this (@ Tohru: wow a pretty flower! @ Akito: Ah yes, the poppy, did you know it symbolizes death, dreams, an eternal sleep… though is an eternal sleep not as good as death? Are dreams a small taste of what's to come? Also did you know they contain opi-" @ Tohru, confused but likes listening to her friends talking about their interests: 😶)
-Would probably do good with a pet cat for emotional support once she gets over the Sohma biases and can be trusted to take care of an animal.
-The Sohma mansion is always out of hot water because Akito uses it all taking hour long angst baths in the giant tub.
-Uo+Hana+Akito have a sleepover were Uo and Akito are talking and are just like wow we both sure had a thing for the same dude because of varied ulterior reasons haha that certainly doesn't mean anything and Hana just sits there wanting to bang their stupid heads together like rocks
-Due to general isolation and probable lack of exposure to "memery," I believe that Akito Sohma would fall for the "updog" trap, in this essay I will-
-Akito full on doesn't remember how old she is. Someone's just like "how old r u?" and she's just like (internally) "How long have I endured existing in this wretched world? Hmm" *sweats in the passage of time doesn't seem real when you dissociate in a dark room all day*. Nobody else remembers exactly either. (That's why Shigure put an "I think" on the end of his "he's in his 20's" lol) Hatori can remember if he needs to but that's because he has her medical records. One time one of the younger juuni is like how old is he??? And they talk for 30 minutes and only come up with "has to be close-ish to but older than Yuki and Kagura. Didn't go to school. Was he born or does he just exist???
-Akki would be that one person that's always cold and has to be lent sweaters by their friends when they're out. You go into Akki's room postcanon and there's a pile of sweaters on a chair that where SUPPOSED to be washed and returned but just haven't been yet
-If Akito was an animal she'd be a cat... claws, dramatically lounging around all day, climbing all over people, attacking and then being like??? But I want love??? I did nothing wrong??? She's got the vibes.
