____________________________________________________
PoV (Y/N):
My daughter (D/N) and I were brought to camp by Glenn and Andrea while they were looking for something to eat. We were very lucky, our supplies were running out and we couldn't defend ourselves. Their leader, Shane, accepted us, but only after Lori and Dale talked him into it. (D/N) and I settled in well, we were given a tent, some food and tasks to do during the day.
I was supposed to take care of the laundry and the kids while (D/N) had to do study work and keep watch with Dale. Actually, they were just watching birds, but they still enjoyed it. But there were also two people who didn't play well with us. The Dixon brothers, Merle and Daryl. Merle was Daryl's big brother and they were more alone. It wouldn't actually bother me if Merle didn't constantly make comments and Daryl looked after him like his lap dog. Once Merle whistled at me because I was wearing shorts.
When I tried to contradict him, Daryl immediately jumped between us and drove me away. "Go awa´, ya damn bitch!" He screamed the whole time. However, I didn't leave because Daryl scared me, but because (D/N) was coming towards us. After that day, I had avoided the Dixon brothers and I forbade (D/N) to be near them.
One day (D/N) made a necklace with a small stone hanging on it. The stone looked almost like a heart and she had it attached to one of her shoelaces. "She looks great, darling." I said proudly. (D/N) grinned widely at me before looking around. Apparently she was looking for someone, but I couldn't figure out who she was looking for. "Mom, where is Daryl?" Her question stole all color and emotion from me.
I looked around uncertainly before kneeling down next to her. "Honey, we talked about it… you're not going to them, not even to Daryl." I said, a little more sternly. (D/N) just pouted before putting the necklace away and sitting next to a tree. I felt bad about giving her so little choice, but there was no other option. At least she could still play with Carl and Sophia while I started doing the laundry.
PoV Daryl:
I sat by a tree and cleaned my arrows from my crossbow. Merle had gone deeper into the woods to take a piss, so I waited for him, but at a safe distance. "Daryl!" I suddenly heard someone scream. I immediately looked in the direction from which I was being called.
It was that stupid bitch's daughter. She looked at me brightly as she ran toward me. You'd think she wouldn't understand the current situation, the way she sometimes ran around and laughed. I stood up and sighed in annoyance. "Wha´ do ya wan´?" I asked harshly.
(D/N), that was her name, stopped in front of me and held out a necklace. It was a shoelace with a strangely shaped stone attached to it. I briefly looked at the necklace in confusion, then at the little girl. "Wha´?" I didn't understand what she wanted. "I did that! For you!” she then said. I knelt down so that I was eye level with her. Then I snatched the necklace from her hand and I looked at the necklace.
,, Wha´ is tha´? An a-…” I stopped when I realized she was only 8 years old. I cleared my throat briefly before speaking up again. "… A-an apple…?" I then corrected myself. (D/N) laughed briefly before shaking her head and tracing the outline with her finger. "That's a heart! Mom and I found it!” she explained. "Ah…" I said before putting the necklace in my pocket. "I won´t wear tha… it'll break while I'm huntin´…" I just lied.
Merle would just laugh at me if he saw the necklace and I wasn't in the mood for that. But (D/N) nodded in understanding and opened her mouth again to say something, but a more aggressive voice made her stop. "Daryl, what are ya doing? Leave tha´ kid alone!” Merle shouted. I immediately turned around to Merle. (D/N) looked scared and she hid slightly, behind me. Merle walked up to her and grabbed her arm roughly. "He, little one… my brotha is too old for ya!" Merle said. (D/N) whimpered loudly and tears gathered in her eyes. I stayed silent for a while before I spoke up. "Merle, tha's enough… I was just ´bout to send her awa´." I said. "Oh yeh? Then why is tha´ stupid brat still here? Go to yar slutty motha.” Merle then shouted loudly.
(D/N) cried loudly before he let go of her and she ran away. Grinning, Merle stood up again before looking at me. I looked after the little girl before I could no longer see her. "Wha´?" I suddenly heard Merle's voice. "Nothin´…" is all I said before we retreated into the forest.
PoV (Y/N):
I chatted with Carol while we hung out the laundry together. Her husband, Ed, stared at us the whole time. When Carol and I were alone, I told her what my husband had done to me and my daughter. Carol was in the same situation I was in, except I killed my husband. So I understood her. “Mom!” I suddenly heard (D/N) scream loudly. I immediately threw the clothes on the floor and ran to my daughter, who was crying and sobbing. I hugged her tightly and tried to calm her down.
"Honey, what happened!? Why are you crying!?" I asked her as I checked her for injuries. But I didn't find any, luckily. "I-I…! D-daryl-! Merle…!” She stuttered around random words. But I understood enough to let my anger rise. Even though I told her to stay away from the Dixon brothers, I didn't want to yell at her right now. Apparently the brothers had already done it. "Everything is fine…! I will talk to them…” I promised her. But (D/N) immediately shook her head and clutched my shirt tightly. "M-merle called you a slut…! He’s just like daddy!” she cried loudly. My eyes filled with anger and I carried (D/N) to Lori, who was cutting Carl's hair.
She immediately looked at me confused while (D/N) was still breathing heavily. "What happened?" Lori asked. Carl also looked at (D/N) while I sat her down next to him. "Dixon happened." I said simply before turning around and running towards the brothers. They could hear something from me.

Tsu'tey X Female Na'vi Reader
You always found it funny how Tsu'tey said he knew the two of you were meant to be together when your birth was announced. You are the baby sister of Sylwanin and Neytiri and he was five when you were born he never told anyone then but, he had felt a pull towards you. A need to protect you and always have you near him in anyway shape or form. He didn't understand it until he was much older but, by then it was too late. He was betrothed to Neytiri after Sylwanin was killed in a sky people attack at Grace school. He would never admit it because he felt some sort of shame but, he was more worried about you than Sylwanin. He knew he should have cared more about his betrothed but, he couldn't. It wasn't her that he loved, he loves you but, Eywa wants him to be with Neytiri and he can't help but, be bitter about that. Fortunately for him, you were unaware of his feelings for you and he will be damned if you found out. You would stop touching him, stop hugging, stop being with him, stop talking. Everything he is supposed to enjoy with Neytiri he is enjoying and wants to be with you.
"Tsu'tey~" You had noticed Tsu'tey from a while back and were going to sneak up on him but, when you saw his ears flick forward and backward you knew he had heard you so therefore you announced your presence to him. "Oh, now you're going to pretend to not have heard me. That's the game we are going to play." You put your bow and arrow down and with your tail moving back and forth getting ready to pounce that's when Tsu'tey turned around with a playful grin to meet your eyes. You froze at having gotten caught mid-jump since you were still crouched but, you couldn't help but, staring at him. He was a beautiful man, his face and body lit up like the stars and glowed like the tendrils in the tree of voices. You got jealous every time you thought about how he wasn't going to be yours. You didn't understand it though. He had said you were always meant to be with him so, why isn't he fighting Mo'at and Olo'eyktan more?
"I know I'm pretty to look at but, that position cannot be comfortable." You blinked out of your musings to see he was smirking at you with mischievous amusement. You loved this side of him, the side that only he would show to you and you're going to cherish every moment of it. You rolled your eyes got out of your crouch and walked to him to sit down next to him but, apparently it was too far for him. "Come closer, I can feel a breeze in between us." Both of you knew there was no breeze to be found but, you allowed yourself to be manhandled to sit in between his legs. You laid your back against his chest as he wrapped his arms loosely around your waist and used his fingertips to draw idle patterns on your hips and sides like he always did. He rested his head on top of yours as the two of you sat in silence for a while until you asked him a question.
"Ma Tsu'tey." You felt him tense, squeezing you tighter to him and you craved it more, you craved his touch more and more each day. You started calling him ma Tsu'tey just to see how he would react since he would call you Ma Y/N  and it was absolutely enthralling seeing his pupils dilate and feeling him squeeze you, practically begging you to call him yours again. You would take great pleasure in it, and every time the two of you are alone you can just imagine that it's just the two of you in the forest as one. You wanted to be his one true mate, he was already your soulmate and it pained you knowing one day you were going to have to give this up. The day that happens you planned on leaving because it would be too much pain to watch the one you want be with your sister, she can touch him, love him and be there in a way that you dream of being.
"Call me yours again Ma, Y/N." He was squeezing you tight to him wanting you to be a part of him. He was praying to Eywa that Neytiri and Jake would mate. He would give up being Olo'eyktan if it means he can be with you. He was desperate, deprived of you. It was you he wanted to fly with, eat with, lay with, laugh, cry, start a family with, and die with. He wanted all of that and so much more but, it seemed like a dream. At least here he can pretend it's a reality.
"Ma Tsu'tey, ma Tsu'tey, Ma Tsu'tey." You would say it as much as he wants you to because deep in your heart he was yours, and he will always be yours even when he has to be with Neytiri he will be yours. You will always love him. You tilted your head feeling his lips press along your shoulder, up your neck, to the tip of your ear, and back down to your cheeks and the corner of your mouth. That was a new one, he would do everything else usually but, he has never gotten that close to your mouth. You wanted him to do it again.
"Ma Y/N." You looked up at him delighted to see he was panting lightly and his eyes were blown out because of you. You got the pleasure of seeing him like this, you wanted to be selfish and have him. Neytiri can have Jake, they seem to be getting along much better, and they can handle not having Tsu'tey. You deserved to have Tsu'tey, you're the one who's been with him through thick and thin. You were there when he cried when he was angry when he was happy when he was sad when he passed his Ikinimaya when his baby brother was born. You were there for everything so the one who deserves to have him
"Is me." You finished your thoughts out loud as you brought his face down to yours and pressed your lips to his for a kiss. It was as if something in him snapped because one hand tightened around your waist and the other went to your neck to hold you there while he ravaged your mouth with his. He forced his tongue into your mouth mapping out every crevice and swallowing your moan with a grunt of his own. This is what you needed, this is who grounds you, and this is your life.
"Oel ngati kameie Y/N, Ma Y/N." He pressed his lips against yours reverently seeming to not get enough of you. He got tired of the position and turned you around so that you were straddling his lap and his hands remained where they were. This was much better and he can watch your face blissed out from his hands, his mouth. He continued to kiss you and caress his hands from the top of your head to your legs as much as he can reach in his position.
"Oel ngati kameie Ma Tsu'tey." His response was to play with your tswin as he continued to kiss you with you responding in earnest. Eywa would forgive you, Neytiri would forgive you. Tsu'tey is yours and always will be.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We all know that Neytiri did in fact end up with Jake. Thank you guys for reading!

Welt let out a yell of pain as he slammed into a wall, having been thrown by a mechanical dinosaur. Distantly, he searched his brain for the creature's name and classification, but the pain in his ribs made it nearly impossible to focus. For fuck's sake, the thing had targeted him, of course. Even though there were other people in the memory zone, it'd chosen to attack him specifically. And as Welt sunk down against the wall, he noted with great dismay that the monster had summoned companions, the dreamjolt troupe dog creations.
He hadn't meant to get into a fight, really. He was trying to follow Caelus' directions to the bar he'd ranted and raved about. The drinks were apparently top quality, and by using memoria techniques, they could quite literally make a drink of your dreams. Ever since the day he'd crossed into this world, he'd been missing the tea his wife used to make him. So, when he heard about the technique, he had practically begged Caelus to tell him where it was. Sue him, he was a man of wordly desires!
But he'd gotten lost in a memory zone. A memory zone infested with monsters. Hence, fighting.
Welt held up the Star of Eden to create a barrier of Honkai particles, catching a blow one of the hounds had aimed at him. He couldn't do shit, he was stuck where he was. He was 80% sure he had broken multiple ribs, not to mention his shattered glasses. He couldn't see. He was at such a great disadvantage that he mused in grim humour that the last time he'd been this challenged was Otto, who'd damn near killed him. Maybe the creature would finish the job?
Welt tugged his phone from his pocket, opening the messenger app, and entering the "Astral Express Family (+ BS&BH)" chat.
[Mr.Yang] 22:07:13
> Need help. In the dreamscape Reverie, got lost, can't fight enemies. In the foyer room memory zone. Help.
[Trash Panda Male Edition] 22:07:26
> fufkc stelland i are on herrtas space station
> marhc & bh should be at tbe bar, theyll be closest
[cold capture] 22:08:03
> on my way!
> i'll bring hilly with me
> hang on, mr yang!
With that, Welt turned his phone off and tucked it into his pocket, focusing all his strength and attention onto the Honkai shield he was maintaining. The telltale purple had begun to creep up his arm - he wouldn't be able to keep this up for long without dipping into his Herrscher Core. Well, half of it. The Bronya he'd once known still held the other half, as she was the active Herrscher of Reason.
Welt gripped the Star of Eden tighter, ignoring the pain shooting up his arm. Just a few moments more, and March and Boothill would be here to help. Those two were reliable, March could shield them all and taunt the enemies, and he and Boothill could chip away at the enemies' toughness to defeat them. He thought, at least. The pain through his body made it tough to remember what these damn things were weak to.
Welt's eyes shot up as he saw an arrow shoot through the air, sticking itself into the main robot's hat. He followed the path, and layed his eyes on both March and Boothill standing on the railing of the stairs. His fatherly instinct screamed at him to get them down, but he had other things to think about.
Boothill jumped off the railing and aimed his gun between his legs, propelling himself forward with the blast to stand next to the barrier Welt had made. The man's stance as Welt looked up at his back reminded him of that man that had saved him all those years ago, his Hero. And, well, he was playing the role of Welt's hero in this situation.
March slid down the railing, surrounding the three with a wall of six-phased ice as a shield. Welt let out an audible sigh of relief, sealing the Honkai power within his cane and smiling up at her. "Thanks, you two."
Boothill made a noncommital noise of acknowledgement, keeping his eyes on the enemies he could still see through the ice. "What's the plan, strategizer?"
Welt was silent for a moment, before he realised March was looking at him. "Am I the strategizer?"
March scoffed and raised an eyebrow at him, tilting her head. "Who else would be?"
At that, Welt paused and thought for a moment. Usually, he did come up with battle plans... "Fair point. March, do you think you could alter your shield to give RES-PEN? It would play to both mine and Boothill's strength."
March's eyes lit up as she nodded, pointing her finger at Boothill then Welt. Six-phased ice crept across their bodies as the shield took effect, acting as armor. "Yeah! Stelle's been teaching me some of her tricks from when she picked up the Harmony path!"
Boothill turned his head around to look at them, and nodded. "Good. These overcooked fudgers aren't weak to any of our types, so I'll need as much respen as I can get to put them down like the dogs they are."
March looked between the two, narrowing her eyes. "This doesn't play to any of our strengths... Mr. Yang, I think we need a new plan."
With a nod, he looked wistfully at the Star of Eden, closing his mouth as he thought. "...Explosions?"
Both March and Boothill tilted their heads at him, Boothill raising an eyebrow. "And how the heck are we meant to do that?"
Welt paused, his mouth twisting into a cruel smile. "The dogs. Their armor is coated in potassium to allow them to self-destruct as needed. Potassium is highly explosive when it comes into contact with water and air, the water part including ice."
As she listened, March's eyes lit up. "That's brilliant, Mr. Yang!"
Boothill blinked a couple of times, looking between them. "What the heck is the plan? I don't know any of that nerd shirt."
Welt stood, grimacing as he braced himself against the wall. "My cane allows me to make miniature black holes that can group the dogs together and put them in a sort of stasis-bubble, that's weak to physical attacks. March coats them in ice, and then you shoot the static field to break it. Potassium comes into contact with water molecules and air molecules, and..."
March giggled, a strange giddy joy in her eyes. "Boom."
Boothill looked between the two, a mix of confusion and concern gracing his features. "You two are scary as shirt."
In return, both of the Nameless grinned at him.
"Okay, so I take the walls down now? It is taking a lot of energy to continuously keep this barrier up, the monsters are still attacking it." March looked to Welt for guidance, and when he gave her a thumbsup, she let the wall drop. Instantly, the dogs lunged forward, and Welt caught them in a black hole forcefield just an inch away from colliding with Boothill.
Thank fuck he did it, because Boothill's reaction speed was mediocre. He jumped back a breath after the enemies were trapped, yelping as he did so. "Son of a nice lady- fork these motherforkers!"
March brought her hand to her head, frowning. "You- can you two hold them off? Coating the hounds is going to take a bit longer because I'm drained from the wall."
"Course, sugarpie. Old man, got it in you?"
Welt nodded, and thrust the Star of Eden forward. The force of the imaginary tree encircled the large dinosaur mech, trapping and slowing it momentarily. Boothill grinned and pointed up, giving a command; "Black hole up there, pops."
With another movement of his cane, Welt summoned a black hole 2 meters above Boothill's head, to which Boothill jumped and let the gravitational pull elevate him. "Drop!"
The black hole vanished, and Boothill brought the heel of his foot down on the Beyond Overcooked's head. The creature let out a yell and tried to throw him off, but when it did, Welt just summoned another black hole above it. The force pulled Boothill up again, and subsequently dropped him onto the monster again. This time, Boothill brought his foot down on the creatures back, straddling it. He clamped his thighs down around the mech's neck, leaning forward to hook his hands under its chin. He snapped its neck back, and pointed to the floor behind him. At the command, Welt summoned another black hole at the location, and the monster fell backwards. Boothill rolled away at just the right time, barely avoiding being crushed by the enemy. He knelt next to it, pressing his knee onto the place where its sternum would be if it were an actual dinosaur.
March finally spoke, pointing at Boothill. "Shoot."
So, he did. He shot the sphere in the middle of the battlefield, the ball that contained the explosive force of 4 lbs of TNT, and shattered it. A moment of absolute silence passed, then an explosion threw everyone back (except Welt, who was still against the wall). The energy released vaporized the houndlike creatures, leaving only one enemy on the field.
Welt looked at March, frowning deeply. "No more bow, summon your blades."
March complied, closing her eyes for a moment to align herself with the Hunt, before she opened them again and caught the twin blades that had materialized from the ether. Welt pointed to the creature, and summoned a black hole above its thrashing body. March lept forward at the command, and when Welt dropped her onto the creature, she sliced its head clean off. Boothill slid around to shoot inside the thing's neck, activating the self-destruct module.
The force threw both Boothill and March in the air, and Welt sighed heavily as he conjured a black hole to catch each of them and prevent them from slamming into any walls. He'd already done so, and it was rather unpleasant.
Once the impacts were prevented, Welt waved away the summons, dropping both March and Boothill to the ground. Both of them rushed forward towards him, March hugging him. "Ow- March, no, I broke a rib, letgo-"
Boothill grabbed March's hair and yanked, pulling her from the man. "He needs medical attention, not sunshine and glitter and friendship, little plum."
March yelped and nodded, letting herself be pulled from Welt. "Sorry Mr. Yang!"
Welt waved his hand and smiled apologetically at the two. "Sorry for pulling you two away from your drinks."
SMACK!
With a screech, Welt looked at Boothill confusedly. "The fuck was that for?"
"You're much more important than any goshdarn drink, old man. Don't apologize." March nodded along as Boothill spoke, frowning at Welt.
"Plus, that was like, super fun. It was like I was fighting on a trampoline with the black holes pulling us every which way!" Just as March had done when he spoke, Boothill nodded while listening.
"I'm gonna bother you to do that with me again, by the way. It was forking awesome."
Welt looked between the two, then sighed, sliding back down against the wall. "Well fuck."

Shattered Memories - Prologue
Okay, let's be serious. English IS NOT my mother tongue (it's Polish which kinda... sucks at some points ig) so if you find ANY MISTAKES, write to me (a comment or whatever). I'm translating that fic from Polish to English OTF. Why I am writing about recom! Quaritch? Hmm, let me think. I saw ATWOW 4 times and I OBSESS OVER HIM. Jesus, I know that man is bad (I hope he'll get a redemption arc), evil, etc., but, Lord have mercy, look at him. He's gorgeous as a Na'vi. Man. So I decided to make a history that takes place and time AFTER ATWOW (if you didn't watch that movie - oopsie but that story contains spoilers).
Tumblr media
[1,028 words]
Pairing: Na'vi Quaritch x Na'vi Fem OC
TW: blood, death mention, cursing
A/n: I hope you'll enjoy! Bold words are in Na'vi.
tswin - a queue, a braid
vrrtep - a demon
ikran – a banshee
palulukan – thanator
Tumblr media
A trace was fresh. In the air was the delicate scent of yerik, the Pandorian kind of deer. Nuyia stalked carefully, trying to be quiet. An animal wasn't that far away and was probably grazing near a watering hole, perhaps even closer.
The girl stood up and quietly jumped onto the branch, clearly seeing the tracks in the mud. She began to follow yerik, literally crawling. A drop of water fell on her forehead and ran down her young face. When she was closer to the herd of animals, she took of her bow from her shoulder. She bit her lower lip and concentrated on the hunt. Nuyia held her breath.
Suddenly, yerik raised its head, and startled with a loud scream. This happened before she fired an arrow and killed the animal. Nuyia examined the trees, trying to spy something or an enemy. And finally, she saw it.
The passenger of ikran that Nuyia saw above the treetop fell. Ikran was screaming and the unconscious or dead blue body was covered with bruises.
She hissed, her tail moving aggressively from left to right. Nuyia saw an avatar, a dreamwalker. Again, she took her bow and aimed at the motionless enemy. The dreamwalker was a tall man in a tank top and combats with a scabbard and a small belt pouch attached to his belt loop. A knife had probably fallen out in the fall. Nuyia looked around and found the knife. It was different from the Na'vi knives, more rectangular. The blade was also different - smooth on one side and serrated on the other. A handle was artificial and smooth. Disgusting. She made a face and threw the knife away, cursing.
She should kill him. She must kill him. He was a demon. A badly injured, unconscious, fuckin', demon. He was bleeding terribly from many wounds - on his head, arms, chest. She looks at him with hatred in her big, yellow eyes.
“If you… If you wanna kill me, then do so, sweetie.” He muttered suddenly, smirking at the same time. The man’s voice was hoarse and tired. His eyes were strange – not yellow, more like greenish-yellow. She hissed in reply, and the man laughed weakly. A few seconds later he fainted again.
Nuyia seriously wanted to kill this abomination, this damned dreamwalker who was definitely an enemy. He couldn't be good. Sky People weren't good enough to live.
But… She couldn't. She couldn't kill this blue, tall man with the strange mark on his left arm. Besides, he was hurt, and hurt badly enough that Nuyia, as a healer and former student of Unipey from the Tipani clan, should help and take care of him. Even if he was evil. A dreamwalker. A Sky Person.
Finally, she sighed, leaned toward him, and grabbed his muscular arm. She gave way to his weight, moaning and calling her ikran. Nuyia heard a familiar sound and saw Atan - her own banshee. Atan has blue, yellow and purple stripes on his body. She smiled when she saw him. She walked slowly towards him and took a robe from the bag attached to the saddle. Nuyia grabbed the unconscious man and tied him to the ikran and the saddle. His upper body was wobbling back and onward, so she jumped and used the rest of the robe to bind the demon to her.
She said Atan to go home. Ikran squawked loudly then soared.
“Great Mother Eywa, what have I done?” She thought while she was flying to her house and holding a stranger. “And what I ought to do with that vrrtep?”.
Tumblr media
Nuyia lived alone in small, old particularly dilapidated school building where Rene Harper taught the young Na’vi English, math, and other things. She didn’t remember him – he died before she was born, but she knows his story from her own mother – he was killed over twenty years ago by Commander Falco, the former RDA chief.
Atan landed in front of the house, Nuyia untied a rope and jumped. She untied a stranger to and dragged him to the house. He was extremely heavy. She noticed that the demon was more muscular than a normal Na’vi man – his shoulders were broader than usual, and his waist was very trim. His physique resembled a triangle. Nuyia laid him down on her sleeping mat. Then she searched for drugs, herbs, and fabric to make a bandage for his wounds. When she found out what she needed, she was shocked to discover that he was really hurt. More than she thought. Nuyia saw a large purple bruise on his chest. She cursed and took a small wooden cannula and a bowl.
She took her curved knife made from palulukan fang and bit into the bruise. The blood became visible. Nuyia quickly bit the cannula. The blood flowed slowly into the bowl. At the same time, she dressed other wounds that were less serious than the one on the chest. She made a bandage from scraps of fabric and bandaged his head.
“He has a strange haircut. Really strange. And stupid. His hair doesn’t really cover his tswin properly.” She thought.
Nuyia applied the ointment, his body struggled in pain and he regained consciousness.
“Wha… Who the hell are u?” He said quietly. “Are u tryin’ to kill me? What the fuck are u doin’?!”
He tried to sit up but she put her small hand on his shoulder and pushed him up.
“Lie down, demon. And don’t get up again if you want to live longer,” she hissed at him aggressively. “You should be glad I didn’t kill you in the forest.”
He tried again to sit up.
“I said LIE DOWN!”
He grinned.
“I hope you’re not tryin’ to kill me, sweetie. You shouldn’t.”
“If I wanted to, I’d have to kill you before. You are weak. Like a baby, so don’t test me. Lie down, I will bring the food.” She grunted, then left the house.
“I really shouldn’t save his life. Great Mother Eywa, why? Why am I so stupid? Why did I help that demon? Why… Why again?"

sometimes, im not sure if healing is the right word.
when im talking to my friends or myself, i refer to what im doing as "healing from my religious trauma". i sometimes like to think of it as tending to my wounds, wounds inflicted upon me by my church, by myself, by my family. washing them, patting them dry, applying a salve to them every day. slow and painful, but eventually they'll close and fade to a scar. and maybe one day, those scars will fade to nothingness.
as i go on, however, i find myself doubting that imagery. i am starting to feel that that in itself is rooted in my upbringing under christianity. the idea that eventually you will be healed, better, pure, saved, by god, by father, by creator, by the ultimate love and power. is it that simple? that clean? that kind?
am i healing? i dont feel like im healing. i dont feel like i'll ever heal. i feel like im tearing barbed arrows from my skin. when i find another, i poke around, see if there's any other way i can do this. i search, desperate, hoping it wont be painful this time. but it always is. it always has to be, doesnt it? that's the point of religion. to make sure that leaving it is more painful than staying in it.
when i come to terms with the fact that i will have to pull the arrows out, i cant help but maybe mourn a little bit. sometimes i think my skin is a tree, because i look at the arrow that's been there a decade or more, and my skin has stared to grow around it. the arrow looks half engulfed, not just embedded, but it seems to be becoming a part of my body.
i cant help but fear pulling it out. searing pain, tearing skin, muscles ripped, tendons snapping, fiery poison pulsing through veins. i'll grind my teeth to dust and twist my face in a knot and hold my breath to stop from screaming. through it all, i still must stop myself from begging for attention. ripping it out sounds appealing, but i know i cant. i shouldnt.
i must be gentle - in the past, i have gone to pull an arrow from my skin and i have broken the shaft. the wood splintered in my hands and i threw it to the ground, trying to move on to another arrow because i cant be bothered with nonsense like this, splintered arrows and flint heads still stuck under my skin.
later when i went back to the arrow with the shattered shaft, i saw that it had dug in deeper. around the wound were two dozen splinters and matching open wounds, red and inflamed, tender and painful, infected, growing. worsening. the original arrowhead had been engulfed by my skin and now i must cut my skin open and peel it back, poking and prodding with forceps to try and free it from its new home within my body. as i gaze at my skin, i am reminded of my anatomy class. the rat i pinned to the mat and flayed, inspecting every part of it to learn how it functioned. at least i am experienced.
the wound is still infected. i have removed the arrow head, but those splinters, theyre slippery. i look around and see half a dozen more broken, splintered arrows; a dozen more arrows untouched; a hundred tiny splinters scattered around my body, embedded in my skin. they are numerous and countless and neverending.
i am out of the warzone now, i am no longer getting bombarded with arrows, i am no longer actively dying, i am no longer beaten and bruised and damn-near lifeless on the battlefield in the hold righteous name of the almighty, i am no longer a sacrifice, but i AM sacrificed. i was. i always was. i was a lamb raised to be blemishless, taking pride in the neatness in my coat, ignoring the blood that had stained it from birth and that would stain my own hands at death.
i was never blameless. i was never blemishless. i was raised for a merciful slaughter and instead became a soldier, unwilling, unknowing, thinking this was what sheep were made for. his staff around my neck did not keep me back from the cliff, it bruised and strangled me so i could not jump over the fence. it seemed so peaceful there. the war was not raging on the other side.
but the war followed me. the wounds never left. it's not healing, is it? not really. even if my wounds heal, i will forver be deformed and broken, debilitated, unworthy. what is worthy? was i worthy of war? am i worthy of peace? healing? how will i ever get these arrows out? the splinters? will the scars ever fade?

The day started like many others at around 5pm. The birds were singing (though few of them remembered the words) and many people weren't dead. There was nothing to foreshadow the events that would occur.
I had elected to spend that particular day empirically determining how many eggs I could stack on top of each other without them falling. My initial results suggested an upper-limit of zero, which, in what may or may not have been a coincidence, was also how many eggs I had.
But before I could figure out how to implement a double-blind trial, my housemate kicked down my bedroom door, ran in, opened my window, jumped out of my window, closed my window, kicked in my window, jumped into my bedroom, and collapsed into a panting heap in front of me.
Normally I would have bitten off one of his ears for bothering me without acquiring written permission at least a fortnight in advance, but the holiday season had put me in an unusually generous mood, and I instead decided to settle for merely putting a venomous scorpion in his pillow.
But my inner-debate on precisely how venomous it should be was put to pause when I saw the wild-eyed look on his face, and as he caught his breath he said "You have to help me!"
I replied "I don't 'have' to do anything, but tell me what you want so I know how much I'll enjoy not doing it."
"You don't understand! They're coming! They want me!"
"Who are? Who do?"
"The-" His voice fell to a whisper. "The Hot Singles!"
"what"
"They're in my area! They w-want me!"
"What are you talking about?"
"I was looking up stuff for my coursework, and I saw an ad that said hot singles within 20 miles from me wanted me, and I ignored it, but the next one said 18 miles, the third one said they were in the county, and the fourth said they were in my city! They're getting closer!"
"Why don't you just change the location on your VPN? Throw them off your location."
"I'm not using a VPN!", he wailed.
"Dude!"
"Damn my hubris!" He sank to his knees, beating his hands on his head.
"Welp. Sounds like you're screwed. Do you think you'd have time to pick up some eggs first?"
"You have to help me!"
"I really don't."
"Who'll pay my share of the rent?"
This was a good point.
I called for a house meeting. The household assembled, minus one of our housemates who was a cat. With everyone else present, the two of us began brainstorming. I brought out the whiteboard, and wrote "HOT SINGLES" at the top.
"Right." I began, "We need to act fast. We don't know how much time we have. The first step is to know our enemy. What do we know about the Hot Singles?"
"Well," my housemate said thoughtfully, "they're Hot."
I underlined "HOT". "Good. Anything else?"
"They're Single."
I underlined the "SINGLE" in "SINGLES".
"And... They're Hot."
I double-underlined "HOT". For good measure, I double-underlined "SINGLE" as well.
"Oh, and there must be at least two of them. Since it they're 'Hot Singles', not just 'Hot Single'.
I underlined the the second 'S' in "HOT SINGLES".
I took a step back and looked at the board. At the top was written "HOT SINGLES". "HOT" was underlined twice, and so was the "SINGLE" in "SINGLES". The second "S" in "SINGLES" was underlined once. After taking a moment to admire my handiwork, I had an idea.
"What's the exact opposite of Hot Singles?"
"Horseradish."
"Precisely." I added "HORSERADISH" to the bottom of the board. "If we had an electric fence," I wrote down "ELECTRIC FENCE", near "HORSERADISH", and added a plus sign between them "we could coat it in horseradish to create a secure perimeter. If we had horseradish."
"What if we gave a radish to a horse?"
"Sounds like it would work." I added two arrows away from "HORSERADISH", pointing to a drawing of a horse and a drawing of a radish. "And if we had an extension cord, we could plug the fence into the mains. If we had a fence." I drew two arrows pointing away "ELECTRIC FENCE", to a drawing of an extension cord, and a drawing of a fence.
I took a step back again to take everything in. At the top of the board was written "HOT SINGLES". "HOT" was underlined twice, and so was the "SINGLE" in "SINGLES". The second "S" in "SINGLES" was underlined once. The bottom of the board said "HORSERADISH + ELECTRIC FENCE". There was an arrow pointing from "HORSE" to a drawing of a horse, and from "RADISH" to a drawing of a radish. There was also an arrow pointing from "ELECTRIC" to a drawing of an extension cord, and from "FENCE" to a drawing of a fence.
Before I could spend too long admiring my craftsmanship, my housemate spotted a crucial vulnerability in our plan, and said "Wait. What if the horse eats the radish?"
"Shit. Good catch." I added a little thought-bubble to the horse, and drew its mouth taking a bite out of the radish inside. "Maybe... We could... Coat the radish in horseradish?" I drew an arrow away pointing at the radish, and wrote "HORSERADISH?" at the other end.
"Do horses dislike horseradish?"
"If we get the kind that's made from horses, the horse won't want to eat it. That would be cannibalism."
"What if it's a Cannibal Horse?"
"We'll need to make sure it's not a Cannibal Horse." I drew an arrow pointing towards the drawing of the horse, and at the other end, drew a cannibal horse. Then I circled the cannibal horse in in red, and drew a diagonal line through it.
Again, I took a step back to get an overview of the situation. At the top of the board was written "HOT SINGLES". "HOT" was underlined twice, and so was the "SINGLE" in "SINGLES". The second "S" in "SINGLES" was underlined once. The bottom of the board said "HORSERADISH + ELECTRIC FENCE". There was an arrow pointing from "HORSE" to a drawing of a horse (with a thought-bubble coming out of its head, showing it eating a radish), and one from that horse to a drawing of a cannibal horse, which had a red circle around it and a diagonal line through it. There was another arrow going from "RADISH" to a drawing of a radish. That drawing had an arrow pointing at it, with "HORSERADISH" written at the other end. There was also an arrow pointing from "ELECTRIC" to a drawing of an extension cord, and from "FENCE" to a drawing of a fence.
As I was admiring my artwork, I realised the images might be ambiguous to some people, so under the drawing of the fence, I wrote "FENCE". Under the drawing of the extension cord, I wrote "EXTENSION CORD". Under the drawing of the radish, I wrote "RADISH". Under the drawing of the horse, I wrote "HORSE". Under the drawing of the cannibal horse, I wrote "CANNIBAL HORSE". For clarity, where I had written "HORSE" under the drawing of the horse, I added "(NOT CANNIBAL)" afterwards. I added a small arrow pointing at that note, to and at the other end of that arrow, wrote a note saying "Find word meaning 'Not a cannibal'?".
Then I realised the board could be more accessible. So I took some Blu-Tak™, and under the words "HOT SINGLES" at the top, I added two dots, then a dot with one above it and another to its right, then a dot with another to its top-left and another to its bottom-left. Then a horizontal line of two dots, with one above the right dot, and one below the left dot. After a small space, I added two more dots, a two-dot vertical-line with a dot above and to the right of the top-dot, a vertical-line with a space and then a dot above the right-dot, a vertical line of three dots, a dot with a dot below and to the right of it, and another 2-dot vertical line with a dot above and to the right. Then, I added two Blu-Tack™ lines under the dots, although one of the lines stopped before reaching the final trio of dots.
Where it said "HORSERADISH" at the bottom, I added a few more dots, then ran out of Blu-Tack™.
I added a note in the corner of the board that said "Shopping list: Blu-Tack™. Eggs."
To make sure none of the labels were misinterpreted, I added "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseradish" in blue, below the braille under the word "HORSERADISH" at the bottom, and "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Fence" below "ELECTRIC FENCE". Then I noticed that that was actually the wrong article, so I crossed it out and wrote "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_fence" below it. Then I added "Whiteboard eraser" to the shopping list. Then I added "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse" below the word "HORSE", and "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radish" below the word "RADISH". Next to the second instance of the word "HORSERADISH", I added "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseradish" again. Then, I opened the the article on radishes, to check that my drawing was accurate. I crossed out the link, and was about to re-write it in purple, before I realised I didn't have a purple pen. So instead I rewrote it in blue, then wrote over the blue in red. Then I added "Purple whiteboard pen" to the shopping list. Then, below the words "CANNIBAL HORSE", I added "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannibalism" and "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse". Then, I drew a small arrow pointing at the words "CANNIBAL HORSE", and at the other end wrote a small note saying "Possible band name?". I added a small arrow pointing at that, and a note at the other end saying "Probably taken." Underneath the word "FENCE", I added "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fence", and underneath the words "EXTENSION CORD", I added "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extension_cord".
I took a step back and reviewed the board. At the top was written "HOT SINGLES". "HOT" was underlined twice, and so was the "SINGLE" in "SINGLES". The second "S" in "SINGLES" was underlined once. Beneath "HOT SINGLES" were two dots of Blu-Tack™, then a dot with one above it and another to its right, then a dot with another to its top-left and another to its bottom-left. Then a horizontal line of two dots, with one above the right dot, and one below the left dot. A small space, two more dots, a two-dot vertical-line with a dot above and to the right of the top-dot, a vertical-line with a space and then a dot above the right-dot, a vertical line of three dots, a dot with a dot below and to the right of it, and another 2-dot vertical line with a dot above and to the right. There were two lines of Blu-Tak™ under the dots, but one line stopped before the final trio of dots. The bottom of the board said "HORSERADISH + ELECTRIC FENCE". Underneath that, "HOR" was written in braille in Blu-Tak™. Below that braille, it said "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseradish" and "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Fence". The latter was crossed out, and had "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_fence" written below it. There was an arrow pointing from "HORSE" to a drawing of a horse (with a thought-bubble coming out of its head, showing it eating a radish), and one from that horse to a drawing of a cannibal horse, which had a red circle around it and a diagonal line through it. Below the drawing of the horse, it said "HORSE (NOT CANNIBAL)", pointed at by a small arrow that at the other end had a note saying "Find word meaning 'Not a cannibal'?". When I looked at that, I added "Dictionary" to the shopping list. Below the caption under the picture of the horse, it said "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse". Below the drawing of the cannibal horse, it said "CANNIBAL HORSE", and below that it said "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannibalism" and "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse". There was a small arrow pointing at the words "CANNIBAL HORSE", and at the other end a small note saying "Possible band name?", with a small arrow pointing at that, and a note at the other end saying "Probably taken." There was another arrow going from "RADISH" to a drawing of a radish. That drawing had an arrow pointing at it, with "HORSERADISH" written at the other end. Underneath "RADISH", it said "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radish", written in blue and crossed out, then written again in red, which had been written over itself in blue, to approximate the colour purple. Next to the "HORSERADISH" note, it said "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseradish" There was also an arrow pointing from "ELECTRIC" to a drawing of an extension cord, which had "EXTENSION CORD", written below it, and "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extension_cord" below that. From "FENCE" there was an arrow to a drawing of a fence, with "FENCE" written under it, and ""https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fence" written below that. In the corner, a small note said "Shopping list", and under it was written "Blu-Tack™, Eggs, Whiteboard eraser. Purple whiteboard pen. Dictionary".
As I stood in awe of my artistic vision, my housemate said "What if one of the Hot Singles is a cannibal horse? It didn't say that that none of them were cannibals. Or horses."
"Damn." I replied "That is kinda hot." And added" "And it might explain why those ones are single." without elaborating.
I drew a dashed line from "HOT SINGLES", down to the drawing of the cannibal horse, ending it with an arrow head, and added a few question marks around the line.
"So then", I said after a pause. "If some of the Hot Singles might be cannibal horses, we need to make sure we have a way of keeping them away from the horseradish. If they eat it, it would undermine our entire perimeter defence system."
"How are we going to do that?", my housemate asked.
"Let's brainstorm." I said. I pulled out a second whiteboard, next to the first, and wrote "HOT SINGLES" at the top.
"Right." I began, "We need to act fast. We don't know how much time we have. The first step is to know our enemy. What do we know about the Hot Singles?"
"Well," my housemate said thoughtfully, "they're Hot."
I underlined "HOT", on the second whiteboard. "Good. Anything else?"
"They're Single."
I underlined the "SINGLE" in "SINGLES", on the second whiteboard..
"And... They're Hot."
I double-underlined "HOT", on the second whiteboard.. For good measure, I double-underlined "SINGLE", on the second whiteboard. as well.
"Oh, and there must be at least two of them. Since it they're 'Hot Singles', not just 'Hot Single'.
I underlined the the second 'S' in "HOT SINGLES", on the second whiteboard.
I took a step back, and went over our progress so far. There were two whiteboards. At the top of the first was written "HOT SINGLES". There was an arrow pointing at the drawing, with a dashed trail surrounded by question-marks, leading back to the words "HOT SINGLES" at the top. Below the drawing of the horse, it said "HORSE (NOT CANNIBAL)", pointed at by a small arrow that at the other end had a note saying "Find word meaning 'Not a cannibal'?". Below the caption under the picture of the horse, it said "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse". There was another arrow going from "RADISH" to a drawing of a radish. That drawing had an arrow pointing at it, with "HORSERADISH" written at the other end. Underneath "RADISH", it said "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radish", written in blue and crossed out, then written again in red, which had been written over itself in blue, to approximate the colour purple. There was also an arrow pointing from "ELECTRIC" to a drawing of an extension cord, and from "FENCE" to a drawing of a fence.
As I was struck by the singular nature of my unbridled talent, I realised the images on the second board might be ambiguous to some people, so under the drawing of the fence, I wrote "FENCE".
Then I realised the second board could be more accessible. But I was already out of Blu-Tack™. Where it said "Blu-Tack™" on the shopping-list on the first board, I added a little "x2".
To make sure none of the labels on the second board were misinterpreted, I added "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseradish" in blue, below the braille under the word "HORSERADISH" at the bottom, and "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_fence" below "ELECTRIC FENCE". Then I added "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse" below the word "HORSE", and "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radish"below the word "RADISH". Then I wrote over that URL again in red. Next to the second instance of the word "HORSERADISH", I added "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseradish" again.
I took a step back and really let everything sink in. At the top of the first board was written "HOT SINGLES". In the corner, a small note said "Shopping list", and under it was written "Blu-Tack™ x2, Eggs, Purple Whiteboard pen. Whiteboard eraser. Dictionary".
At the top of the second board was written "HOT SINGLES". "HOT" was underlined twice, and so was the "SINGLE" in "SINGLES". The second "S" in "SINGLES" was underlined once. The bottom of the board said "HORSERADISH + ELECTRIC FENCE". Underneath that, it said "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseradish" and "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_fence" written below it. Underneath "RADISH", it said "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radish", written in red, which had been written over itself in blue, to approximate the colour purple.
As I stood cradled within the focal point of the convergence of past, present and future, my soul the catalyst of the culmination of all things, my housemate said "What if one of the Hot Singles is a cannibal horse? It didn't say that that none of them were cannibals. Or horses."
"Damn." I replied "That is kinda hot." And added" "And it might explain why those ones are single." without elaborating.
I drew a dashed line from "HOT SINGLES" on the second board, down to the drawing of the cannibal horse, ending it with an arrow head, and added a few question marks around the line.
"So then", I said after a pause. "If some of the Hot Singles might be cannibal horses, we need to make sure we have a way of keeping them away from the horseradish. If they eat it, it would undermine our entire perimeter defence system."
"How are we going to do that?", my housemate asked.
"I don't know." I said. "I only have two whiteboards."
"Shit." My housemate said.
"Yeah." I replied.
I added "Whiteboard" to the shopping list on the corner of the first board.
"Okay" I said. "Let's look at this another way. We know our enemy. But do we know our selves?" I added pinned photos of each of us to the side of the first board, and labeled them "SELVES".
"What?"
"It's The Art of War. You have to know your enemy, and know yourself."
"Is it?"
"Pretty sure it is. Hold on, lemme check."
I put the pens down, dug up Sun Tzu's The Art of War, and gave it a look.
After a while, my housemate asked "Did you learn anything?"
I said "Yeah. Three things."
"What?"
"One: Archaeologists think it's really cool when you dig up the original manuscript of Sun Tzu's The Art of War."
"Two: They don't like it when you steal it."
"Three: I can't read 5th Century Classical Chinese."
I added "English-5th Century Classical Chinese dictionary" to the shopping list on the first board. Although there wasn't enough space, so I actually had to add it above the words "shopping list", rather than below.
He thought for a moment. "Could you get a version in modern Chinese?"
"I can't read modern Chinese either."
"Then why did you think you might be able to read 5th Century Classical Chinese?"
"Because they're totally different languages! Just because you can or can't read one, doesn't mean you can or can't read the other!"
"Geez, okay. So the book's a bust, then?"
"Maybe not", I smiled.
"Oh?"
I held up an MP3 player with a flourish and said "Audiobook!"
"Great!"
But I didn't want go get the earbuds gross so I cleaned out my ears first. Then, I had a listen.
When I was done, I returned the situation room.
"Well?" my housemate looked expectant.
"I learnt one thing."
"You don't understand spoken 5th Century Classical Chinese either?"
"No. Well, maybe. I mean, what I learnt was that the narrator's accent was so thick, I really couldn't tell whether or not I could understand the language she was speaking in." I looked at the MP3 player. "Bit of a questionable choice for an audiobook there, gotta be honest."
"Well, while you were doing that, I had an idea of my own."
"Yeah?"
"So, you know how the door to your room was kicked down, and your window kicked in?"
"I do remember this, yes."
"I was thinking, that creates a pretty major weak-spot in the house security."
"I guess it does."
"But I worked out a solution."
"Go on."
"If I kick down and in all the doors and windows, respectively, no possible entrance will be weaker than any other, so there'll be no weak-spots!"
"That would explain why all the doors and windows have been kicked down and in, respectively."
"Actually, I didn't actually do it. I don't know how that happened."
"Ah."
I looked around.
I added "Doors" and "Windows" above the shopping-list on the first board.
I took a step back and went over everything we had so far.
At the top of the first board was written "HOT SINGLES". There were two lines of Blu-Tak™ under the dots, but one line stopped before the final trio of dots. Photos of us were pinned at the side of the board, labelled "SELVES". Whiteboard".
At the top of the second board was written "HOT SINGLES". "HOT" was underlined twice, and so was the "SINGLE" in "SINGLES". The second "S" in "SINGLES" was underlined once. Some birds had started building a nest on the corner of the board. The bottom of the board said "HORSERADISH + ELECTRIC FENCE". Underneath that, it said "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseradish" and "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_fence" written below it. From "FENCE" there was an arrow to a drawing of a fence, with "FENCE" written under it, and ""https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fence" written below that.
Finally, I had a realisation. "I've got it. To defeat our enemy, we must know our enemy. To know our enemy, we must become our enemy!"
"We're going to be Hot Singles? Because I was-"
"No, look." I pulled one the computers into the room, and began typing something up.
"I am a plural of Hot Singles who may or may not include one or more cannibal horses, looking for my match(es) ;)". I looked at it. It seemed like I was forgetting something.
Then I added "P.S. please bring eggs."
My housemate's eyes lit up as I finished. "That's it!" he said "If the Hot Singles stop being Single-"
"Their power will be nulliified." I concluded. "Now I guess we just need enough replies in time before-" And then a swarm of Hot Singles burst in through one of the windows and pulled my screaming housemate limb from limb.
Someone eventually responded to our ad, and I had to explain that the Hot Singles had moved on, but I also mentioned that I was looking for a new housemate, and they were good with rent and brought eggs, so all in all everything worked out great for nearly everyone.
The moral of the story is use a VPN or something.
Also, I crossed "Eggs" off of the shopping list.
Then I took a step back. There were two whiteboards. The first one said

Chapter 3 - Escape - Part 1
Agenor
"Heave ho," I barked at the stupid pirate and he hustled to row harder.
I stood at the front of the boat as it cut through the darkness, with arms folded and a hellish mood. I shut my eyes close and breathed the fresh air of the night trying to calm the fuck down but it only managed to get me even angrier. Because as soon as I did, I saw those eyes. I saw him falling back and looking at me with his deep blue eyes, filled with confusion and hurt. Those eyes... I adored them... But that was not the kind of confusion that I loved to see in them.
'What the FUCK have I done? Why did I have to be such a jerk?'
The more I thought about it, the angrier I got. And that's simply because I knew the exact reason behind my behavior. I was fucking scared. I have never been scared of someone's thoughts before. I rarely cared about other people's opinion, usually I don't give a damn about what they think. But this time, it was so different. I feared his thoughts so much that I couldn't even find it me to talk to him about it. And as much as I hated to admit it, I knew deep inside me that Nyx still yearned for home. I knew that if he had the chance, he would take it. And I'm fucking mad at him because of that.
Maybe I couldn't blame him, seeing how good ties he has with his family and all but I sure as hell am not gonna stand back and let him leave. Shit, I couldn't even stand my own crew without him. As soon as we stepped on Esme, we made the camp and they started dinner. I couldn't even eat knowing that Nyx was there, alone in the sea. Some even went to buy whores already and they waited for me to lead the way. But I sent them away. I felt my heart closed for everything. I couldn't even get myself to enjoy the sand on the beach.
So here I am, the almighty Fucking devil, crossing the sea very late at night, looking for the one thing that set a hurricane in my head in the first place, those eyes... I looked behind me and glared at the pirate once more. His arms started moving frantically and I sighed. Any faster and his arms would fall off. I lifted the lamp near my face for the members on the Martina to see me and not be alarmed. If they suspected a stranger rowing towards them, those stupid assholes might send an arrow my way. The boat closed to the ship and a rope was immediately thrown off the deck. I grabbed it and started climbing. Alright. So...I fucked up. That part is clear. Now all I have to do is make it up to him.
Well, I doubt he'll be receiving me with open arms, he'll probably start defending himself or send me blaming glares that deliver speeches sharper than daggers. Aye, that's something he's actually good at. All I need to do is explain his mistake for him and he'll be forced to understand. I stood mid-climb as I realized, what was his mistake again? It feels like I punished him for something yet to happen. But I am sure it was gonna happen. Is that even logical?
Oh, that's so like Nyx, he always gets to my head in strange ways and somehow manages to confuse me. THEN he doesn't even take responsibility and acts as if he knows nothing about it. I fumed as I jumped on the deck and made my way to my cabin while ignoring the questioning looks of the few idiots around me. I opened the door allowing the moonlight to sneak more into the room. I looked around the bed and my heart leapt from my chest when I saw the bed sheets laying flat on the bed.
My eyes widened, my breath accelerated and I almost shouted to call the mates to look for my treasure. But luckily, I halted just in time when I felt his gaze on me. I turned to find him sitting by the left wall. I inhaled deeply to relax a little. The room was drowned in darkness even thought he wasn't asleep. I went to lighten a lamp that was by the bed and then I walked across the room to where he was.
I removed my sword and sat on his right, leaving the sword to lay by my side. He tensed a little but said nothing. He was hugging his knees with his head tilted down. I expected him to yell and start throwing blames but he just remained as he was silent, as if he was still alone. I moved to get closer to him when I noticed something on the floor between us. I lifted it and found it to be a piece of bread.
"Where did this come from?" I asked, it's not like bread was common on pirate ships.
We only get to eat it about two or three days at the beginning of each sail and then it becomes a fantasy until we land.
"Baril sent it," his voice was barely audible but spoke clearly of his exhaustion.
I smelled the bread noticing it was a little soaked in the middle.
"Was there meat inside?"
"I don't know."
Just as I thought. Baril was kind enough to remember sending some bread and meat for him but only the bread made it to his hands.  So the horrible moody old man remembered to feed him while I forgot. Fuck... this day just keeps getting better.
'Nyx. I treated you that way because of what could have happened if you carried on with what you had in mind. Now if you apologize, I'll forgive you this once. After that, we will both forget it happened. So how about we celebrate and fuck, huh?'
My eyes narrowed as I listened to my own thoughts. Thank God I didn't voice that. I'm sure somehow he'll manage to make it sound insulting to him. I looked beside me. He wasn't moving or doing anything, silently gazing at the floor. And when my loud thoughts halted for a moment, I was able to hear small sniffles that he made every few seconds.
Shit. I didn't know I had hurt him that much. Sometimes I forget how sensitive he really is. Why did he have to be so delicate? I know women that would take a thousand insults and not even twitch. Then again, this delicate side of his is what makes him so adorable...
I reached my arms around him and pulled him into a hug. I expected him to push me away and I prepared myself for it but strangely, he didn't. He went still for a second and then buried his head in the crook of my neck. Only then, did I realize how sad he actually was... And when his hands held my arm to keep me from pulling back, I hugged him tighter. I nuzzled his hair and my worries started finding some relief.
He fits so well in my arms... How could I not fear losing him? I bet he was very tired with all the work during the day and all the crying at night. So I remained silent for a while, enjoying having him here in my arms. He didn't look at me at all though, which made me regret even more the way I treated him.
"Nyx, I didn't mean to be that cold to you today. My excuse is both good and well, unreal for now. Just know that I regret hurting you. I shouldn't have handled things that way. I don't want to lose you. I actually don't know what I would be without you and that's only because of how much I love..."
I stopped suddenly when I heard a certain breathing rhythm. I tilted my head to listen closer and my suspicion was true. He was already fast asleep. I threw my head back and laughed. Aye, I was pulling every nerve inside me to get myself to apologize without sounding like an idiot and he simply skips it all and falls asleep. I slowly tilted his head back to be able to see him.
Even in the dim light of the lamp across the room, I could see the dark circles under his eyes. I watched his sleeping face and couldn't help smiling at my angel. I kissed his forehead and moved him carefully to a more comfortable position in my arms. Then I closed my eyes and joined his realm.

𝔸𝕦𝕘𝕦𝕤𝕥 𝟙𝟙𝕥𝕙
A hero in the sky wearing blue and black had a bow and arrow
“Okay Emily take your time and take breath. You know what your doing.... Right?“ Emily asked herself as she pointed her arrow at someone’s tentacle
3,2 1
Emily shot her arrow at the persons tentacle and big electric sparks shot out causing more mayhem
The villain fell to the ground and had sparks surrounding him
Emily looked in horror at the she caused and thought the villain was dead
Another villain with an electric quirk absorbed it and they became even more powerful
Emily flew off where there was another with bags of money
“Okay great there’s another criminal here let's see how I can work with this,“ Emily says and shoots another arrow at the criminal
This time Emily shot an arrow with some sticky elephant toothpaste but as soon as she shot the arrow the criminal moved away and instead the arrow went into an innocent civilian got in the way
“OH MY GOD!“ Emily shouted and flew away leaving that arrow there
Emily flew off where she saw a few heroes attacking nomu’s and thought to herself “ there's no way this can get ruined“
Emily saw a nomu who was attacking Hawks which made her mad
Emily shot a blade of hers instead and was able to cut both of their heads off sadly luck wasn’t on her side
When she cut it’s head off her blade cut a pole and it was gonna fall on Hawks
Emily jumped down and flew towards him picking him up and moving away as the pole falls on a fire hydrant and broke it
“You got to be freaking kidding,“ Emily says to herself holding him close to her
“Wow! I guess you really are my guardian angel,“ Hawks says with his usual smile
“I really have to date this guy. A guy who couldn't even take care of himself,“ Emily thought but then realized
Emily dropped him immediately as she saw a bunch of cameras taking photos of her and him
Many newsreporters ran after her as she helped Hawks up
“Who is this new hero?“ A reporter aasked
“ What’s your name?“ Another aasked
“ What’s your quirk?“ Another asked “What’s your relationship with Hawks?“ A reporter asked and Emily popped out her wings before flying about them and stole a mic from one of the
“I’m Angela the angelic hero I’m 19 and new to all of this. I graduated from college last year. And that birdbrain is my best bro and I’ll make sure nobody hurts him or else they’ll pay,“ Emily says and the reporters had a bunch more question
Emily dropped the mic and flew off with Hawks
“Woah Emily what was that about?“ Hawks asked
“Okay birdbrain I have an offer about me and you go out on a date. If I like it we can continue going out on more dates. And maybe evolve into something more,“ Emily suggested but Hawks held in his laughter
“ Are you sure your not just jealous at the fact there was rumors of me and Mirko dating?“ Hawks asked and my reaction surprised me
“Wait your with that bunny girl. You know I’m actually not trying to get with you to be higher in the rankings,“ Emily responded and went white
“Wow I'm surprised with how jealous you were but couldn't blame you I mean a lot of my fan girls get jealous when others just even brush past me,“ Hawks says and Emily him the top of your head
“Hawks you keep talking and I will take back everything I just said,“ Emily crosses her arms and faces her head away from him
“ Wait Emily I would love to go out with you maybe at a near by restaurant,“ Hawks says and oddly enough Emily smiled at his words.
“When are you free cause I am on Friday?“ Emily asked
“Same besides I got something special for you,“ Hawks said and was about to flew off but then stopped himself
“ Also Emily... Happy birthday,“ Hawks said then flew off
Emily was surprised with his words because she forgot her own birthday
“Damn how can I forget my own birthday,” Emily says to herself
Emily looks at her phone and sees a random text message on her phone

Emily flies back towards her and tries making conversation
“Yo barbie doll what’s up?“ Emily asks making gun noises
The blonde girl stops and set Emily on fire
Angela screams and flies off trying to put out her suit which was burning her “Don’t call me barbie doll when I’m obviously a devil,“ The blonde girl angrily says pointing at her demon horns and her tail
“Wait is she not the right person she literally looks exactly like her just without those features,“ Emily thinks to herself
“Theres no way they would want me to fight the literal devil,“ Emily said to herself
Emily flew after the blonde girl
“Hey shawty we can be the macoroni and make cheese together,“ Emily says and the blonde girl looked at her with a disgusting face
“I’m not gay,“ The blonde girl says walking past her
“Excuse you ma’am but I’m not gay I’m pan thank you very much!“ Emily blurted out and the blonde just rolled her eyes
“Same differnence now leave me alone,“ The blonde says but Emily grabs her arm
“Hey get off of me,“ The blonde says and sets herself along with Emily on fire again
“I’m suppose to kill ypu not the other way around!“ Emily shouts in agony
“Who the hell said that?“ The blonde asked
“Ken Martin my buddy in crime,“ Emily admits and the blonde stops pulling away
“Wait, Ellioty’s son? Why would he want to kill me?“ The blomde asked
“Cause he wanted me to- now time for me to do my job,“ Emily says but The blonde took her arm out of her grasp
“Are you a newbie or something? I’m Vanessa,“ Vanessa introduces herself
“Did I ask?“ Emily responded
Vanessa grabbed some random guy and hid behind her
“Kenji there’s some insane person trying to hurt me. Protect me,“ Vanessa commanded while pointing at Emily
Kenji pushes Vanessa away and stands in front of me like a lost puppy
“Agent Angela! I’m glad your okay after what happened I also see your thriving as a hero so far,“ Kenji says
“I started today,“ Emily said making a weird smile
“Well I was told to spy on you. Anyway why does Agent Lucifer want me to hurt you?” Kenji asked
“Because I was assigned to kill her and yet she’s telling me her name in defense,” Emily explained and Kenji seemed so confused
“Who told you to kill her?” Kenji asked in confusion
“ Ken did of course,” Emily said and showed him her phone
“ Emily this is some random spam they just happen to have the same name. Also I told you your missions would come through mail not through online. Wasn’t you listening when I explained everything to you?” Kenji asked angrily
“Uh… well do it seem like I was listening,” Emily was sarcastic while Kenji face palmed
Three weeks ago
Emily was on her phone with ear buds listening to music and texting Hawks while Kenji had a board and writing stuff on it

“Are you even listening to me?“ Kenji asked breaking his chalk in half
Out of fear that she would be next Emily nodded vigorously
Present
Emily hid herself behind her wings while Kenji groaned
“And this is suppose to be the smartest person in the defenders,“ Kenji said holding his head
“What’s a defender?“ Emily asked and Kenji was two seconds away from exploding
There are three groups protecting a dystopian like world one group is called Defender, the other challenger, and the last one revenger. You are in the defender and Vanessa is the leader of the challenger,“ Kenji said moving Emily’s wings away from my face
Emily’s wings were sharp and they cut off a piece of his leather gloves
Before he left Emily saw his right hand barely and it was grass green
“Damn so what Kenji was like a literal plant,“ Emily thought
Anyways
“ I’m sorry Ms Vanessa I hope you have any forgiveness in heart to forgive me and the amount time of yours I possibly wasted,“ Emily apoligized and bowed
“No worries it’s cool besides it’s not like I had anything to do. I was just gonna go to starlight entertainment,“ Vanessa admitted
“Wait you work there?“ Emily asked
“My cousin wanted me to review her pop groups song so I was gonna go but whatever,“ Vanessa says in a calm voice while rolling her eyes
“Review a pop groups song? Cousin? Starlight?... Holy crap is her Allison Smith. Wait a minute song? I gotta go,“ Emily thought and flew off
Years later
“Bad luck follows me wherever I go,“ Emily says and Courtney taps her pen on her notebook
“Emily I wanna give you credit for acting like such a lucky ass,“ Courtney said looking at her
“Excuse me!“ Emily said with attitude
“Yeah I said. You rejected him than randomly say yes. You are lucky this guy likes you or else he would’ve rejected you the way you rejected him,“ Courtney smiles to herself while Emily fakes how shock she was by her words
“Okay but I mean he could’ve just done it so his lonely chicken ass wouldn’t cry himself to sleep at night,” Emily joked but Courtney gave her a look
“Damn! okay okay, yeah I was lucky he said yes so I wouldn’t be lonely but also so I wouldn’t die,” Emily tried to convince Courtney but she rolled her eyes
“Yeah no the defenders are so not as violent as you think they it’s on the revengers the one I’m in. You are considered the most aggressive and violent one there just cause you are scared you’ll get killed when others are scared to get killed by you,” Courtney admits shocking Emily
“They’re scared of me? The wannabe accident prone hero who can’t go a day without hurting herself?” Emily asks in disbelief
“I literally got this cut on my finger from tying my shoelaces,” Emily continues
“The way you act around them says otherwise. With everything going on and the possibility of you going to jail you need to realize your with last days here in America that not everyone is after you…” Courtney sighs as she sees Emily look away
Courtney holds her hands tightly making her look back at Courtney
“But just because their not after you doesn’t mean your not safe,” Courtney says to her and Emily nods smiling
“My story isn’t over until we make it back here to the present. We still got a long way to go,” Emily says as they both sit back realize that they are not even close to finding out the truth

Part 2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        (Y/N) wished she could turn back time and never go with Dream.
        He made her think so many horrible things about her…family. He made her do so many things against them. She thought he had been her friend, the only one that truly cared for her and understood her.
        Now, she saw what he had really done to her.
        He had separated her from those that had cared about her. After everything she had done…they’d never even what to see her again, she was sure of it.
        She had helped Schlatt come into power by Dream’s orders, take Wilbur’s nation from him and Tommy.
        She had kept hold of one of Tommy’s discs for Dream in case if Tommy tried to get them back, he’d have the wrong guy. She had also helped Dream and Techno blow up L’Manberg one last time.
        She betrayed Phil and Techno by telling Dream where Techno was, using information she got from Phil.
        She lost everything she ever once had and now she lost everything she had now. Dream had gone to prison and the time alone; she realized the mistakes she made with helping him. All she was now was…alone…
        Time passed seemed to pass so slowly yet so fast around her as she tried to bring herself outside and be happy, but so many people hated her. She just knew it. Everyone would hate her as she had been Dream’s “friend”.
        Maybe that’s why when she first managed to get outside, she decided to go to the prison. She knew Dream was bad and bad for her but she had no one else, so she went to visit him.
        “(Y/N)?” Sam looked at her surprised as she came into the prison. “Where have you been?”
        She rubbed her arm awkwardly. “I’ve been…just hanging around you know. So many friends to talk to!”
        Sam knew she was lying.
        “I came to see Dream.” She changed the subject.
        “I…Don’t think that’s a good idea,” Sam told her, remembering a promise…
        “Come on, what am I going to do?” She rolled her eyes.
        “Dream’s a pretty bad guy (Y/N), and you’re a kid.”
        “I’m not a child!” She protested. “Just let me see the damn guy.”
        “No, I’m going to insist you don’t.” Sam shook his head as he came around his desk. “Why don’t you go do something else?”
        (Y/N) didn’t want to go though, she’d be alone again. Stuck in her own home, afraid of what the others would do. She had snuck her way to the prison already, she didn’t want to sneak across the whole land alone. She just didn’t want to be alone.
        “No! Just let me see him! I don’t go back to the quiet fucking house! I don’t care if he’s the bad guy! Just let me talk to someone!”
        Sam stopped in front of her as she took a step back realizing she had said all that out loud.
        “I—Forget I said that.” (Y/N) turned for the portal, trying not to show her weakness.
        “…Why don’t we go back to my base? I need a break.” Sam stopped her.
        She stopped at the edge of the portal, her hand resting on the obsidian.
        He’s trying to use you.
        That voice was back, the voice of Dream that always controlled her. Her heart pounded as she clenched her hand before taking a deep breath and looking at Sam.
        “Why?” She asked.
        “Well, my place isn’t quiet, you might like the different change.”
        Don’t listen to him. He’s not your friend, I am.
        She clenched her hands in her pockets before giving an eye roll.
        “Yeah, sure, I’ll come to your stupid base.” She muttered. “But if it’s boring, I’m leaving.”
        Sam chuckled lightly. “Sure, you won’t think that for too long probably, Puffy said she’s bringing me some cake and I’m willing to share.”
        (Y/N)’s eyes lit up slightly at the mention of cake and Sam was actually a bit startled by the light in her eyes. He didn’t really remember a time when he had seen her with such a look in her eyes. Dream’s influence must have had a greater effect than anyone thought…
        Sam put up his warden gear and had taken (Y/N) to his base, which rested far from the rest of the SMP land, so she was able not to worry about those that hated her finding her. She tried not to let the cool base affect her but it was especially hard when Fran jumped on her. She lost it after that and managed a real smile after a long time and pet the dog eagerly.
        She played with the dog, running around the base, Sam joining the pair once he had taken a few moments to relax. When Puffy came, she was shocked to see (Y/N) laughing as Fran was licking her face, having knocked the younger girl down. As she had been so new to the land, she hadn’t seen her like this ever.
        It made Puffy smile though as Sam shared the cake she had brought with (Y/N) as well. (Y/N) gladly dug in and it was a very different change from how they were used to seeing her. Is this what people used to see her as?
        The two from there vowed to let her show her happiness. Dream wasn’t there to control her anymore and they wanted to make sure she knew that. That she could back to who she was and the people they knew she loved and they also knew still loved her…
        “Why don’t we go to the SMP tomorrow?” Sam offered one day as (Y/N) was practicing her archery as Sam spotted her.
        She lowered the bow, frowning, before aiming at the target again, getting a bullseye. “You want me to lose a life?”
        “What do you mean?” Sam asked confused.
        “I helped do so many horrible things.” She took out a new arrow. “They’d want my head on a plate.”
        “That’s not…”
        “Sam, I helped bring down my broth—” She stopped looking away from him. “I helped bring down Tommy’s and Wilbur’s nation twice. It’s gone now. Doubt Tommy wants to see my face anywhere near him or the SMP.”
        She aimed her bow at the target again and missed widely as she wasn’t focused, swearing quietly to herself as she went to retrieve the arrow as Sam sat for a moment with his own thoughts. Dream had really broken her faith in her own family…
        …
        “Hey, Sam.” Tommy stopped at the portal to leave the prison.
        “Yeah?” Sam raised an eyebrow at Tommy’s serious tone.
        “Can you promise me something?”
        …
        The next day, he did his day at the prison as (Y/N) and Puffy were having a girl’s day. Today, he had a mission though. He went to the main cell with his only prisoner.
        “Sam. What do I owe the pleasure?” Dream grinned behind his mask.
        “What did you do to (Y/N)?” Sam went straight to the point.
        Dream chuckled as he leaned on the wall. “I made her useful instead of being the annoying brat she was.”
        “She’s just a child.”
        “So? She helped Tommy with his first “Disc War”.” He shook his head. “I couldn’t deal with two of the brats, so, I showed her what was better for her.”
        “You took her away from her family.”
        Dream chuckled, moving his mask to side to smirk at Sam. “And? She’s better off. I’m sure she’ll visit me soon too.”
        Dream had banked on it. (Y/N) couldn’t survive without him. He had shaped her into the way he wanted and he’d use her again to escape.
        “She wasn’t and she won’t, but I assure you now,” Sam smirked this time, making Dream frown. “She’ll bounce back. I’ll make sure of it.”
        “What the hell does that mean?” Dream asked.
        “She’s remembering how to smile. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her laugh.”
        Dream stepped forward to grab the man but Sam moved out of the way. Sam was trying to further break Dream by showing him that he no longer has control outside these four walls and by the rage in the usually masked man’s face, he knew this could work.
        “She’s just a kid and I’ll make sure she remembers that.”
        “Leave them alone Sam. You’re not going to like it if you don’t.”
        “No, I’ll make sure she can remember who she was.”
        Dream tried to grab Sam again, but Sam tripped him down. The creeper hybrid crouched next to the man.
        “You have no power. (Y/N) is safe now and I won’t let you take that from her.”
        Sam left the cell with that and Dream growled as he clenched his hands.
        “Time to speed up plans then…” He grinned wickedly.
        Sam sat at his desk the next day, writing in a book when he jumped hearing an ear-splitting explosion as alarms blared off.
        “FUCK!” He shouted, grabbing his trident as he sprinted for Dream’s cell.
        Smoke was piling out before he opened the entrance to the cell and when he could see, he stood in shock at the gaping hole in front of him as Dream adjusted his mask, a sword gleaming in the sunlight streaming in and the fire piling around him.
        “Sam. The man of the hour.” He grinned wickedly as a group of purple particles blinked out in the smoke. “Now, tell me. Where is she?”
        Sam supposed he had to also speed up his own plans now too.
        …
        “Fran!” (Y/N) called as she held a lead.
        She had worked with Sam on a schedule where she would walk Fran while Sam was at the prison. Fran ran up to her and she smiled tying the leash on the dog, leaving with her. They were about to do their usual route when Fran started to growl and (Y/N) stiffened, hand going to her sword.
        “What is it?” She muttered.
        She heard movement and she stood in front of Fran as she pulled out her sword.
        Sam’s place was so far away. Who was here?
        By the tree line, she saw a shadow come towards the edge and then out into the light…
        “(Y/N)!” Ghostbur smiled.
        “G-Ghostbur?” She sputtered.
        She had met the ghost once or twice during Tommy’s exile but she had never been alone with the ghost of her…of Wilbur.
        “I found you first. Techno said he’d find you because he’s a human GPS and Tommy said he’d find you first because he’s better! But I found you first.” Ghostbur rambled as he came over.
        (Y/N) merely went pale. They were looking for her? Did they want to…?
        “Phil told me he needs you for a sleepover at his place so come on.” Ghostbur smiled, holding out a hand to her.
        “W-What? I—” She backed away, frightened.
        She knew they must hate her but did they really want to hurt her?
        “Oh dear. Do you need some blue?” Ghostbur asked as he went into his bag. “I have a few pieces spare!”
        She was debating to go sprinting into Sam’s house when the tree line broke again and Tommy stumbled into the clearing.
        “HA!” Tommy grinned as (Y/N) was deathly white. “There you are!”
        He took a step to her but that was enough to frighten her to sprint towards the house only for her to scream as she fell on the ground seeing Techno coming walking out beside it.
        “I—I—I!” (Y/N) sputtered, Fran, growling as the dog stood in front of her.
        “Well, that’s not the greeting I expected,” Techno muttered as Ghostbur floated to the girl and held a piece of blue to her.
        “Come on idiot. We need to go.” Tommy huffed to the girl.
        “I-I’m sorry.” She finally let out, tears now falling down her face as she shook.
        “For what?” Techno raised an eyebrow.
        “E-Everything. I-I just—Please don’t hurt me.” She whimpered.
        “What? Why would we hurt you?” Tommy looked at her confused.
        “I-I helped Dream a-and…”
        “You were manipulated by Dream.” Techno crouched down, glaring at the dog as it growled at him. “Yeah, sure, we use to hate you but.” Techno looked at Tommy as Tommy looked away. “We know what Dream’s like now. We know what he does. And now, he’s broken out of the prison.”
        (Y/N)’s body stiffened now at the information as Ghostbur shifted nervously before putting the blue in the girl’s hand, which turned a deep blue instantly.
        “Sam called us,” Tommy told her. “We got to go before he gets here. Techno and Idon’t agree on a lot.” Tommy looked at his brother before looking at her. “But we agree that you need to get to Techno’s and Phil’s so we know you’re safe sis.”
        (Y/N)’s heart cracked as she heard the familiar nickname from her brother. The blue had given her enough clarity to hear Tommy’s words and it made her tear up more. Her…Her brothers didn’t hate her…
        “We got go now. Dream could be here any minute.” Techno said, standing and offering a hand to (Y/N), Fran trying to snap at it but he growled at the dog and the dog backed off.
        (Y/N) hesitated as she took his hand and Techno pulled her up.
        “Let’s go.” He looked around before leading the teenagers, a dog, and a ghost away.
        …
        “You got to promise me that you won’t let (Y/N) see Dream,” Tommy said.
        “What?”
        “…I thought I hated her…I never really did but I always said I did. Now, I don’t hate her at all because now…now I know what Dream can do. You can’t let her in that cell with him. Promise me, Sam.”
        “…Yeah, ok. I promise.”
        “Thanks. If you see her…let her know I’d like to talk ok?” He smiled sadly. “We all miss her.”
        “I will.”
        …
        Sam came to his base, beaten and bloodied but he was alive. His base was in disarray but that meant one thing, Dream hadn’t been able to find (Y/N). He smiled to himself. Puffy had gotten his message and gotten to the brothers.
        He had planned on slowly introducing her back to her family to help her realize no one hated her but he had to speed everything up for her safety. He knew, there was no better place for her now than with her own family as Dream was on a war place to reclaim a piece in his game of chess.
One Week Later
“Y/N, can we get orange?” asked Arrow from where she sat in the shopping cart. She pointed at the tubes of frosting and you took one off, handing it to her as you went back to searching for a box of red velvet mix.
“Come on,” you sighed, squatting down. You saw one shoved in the back and you bent down, reaching back to get it. You huffed when you pulled it back, the expiration date still plenty good. “Score. Okay Arrow what other color…”
She wasn’t in the cart anymore as you stood, her bright pink shirt and shorts nowhere in sight.
“Arrow!” you shouted, people from the farther end of the aisle turning to look at you. You breathed hard and spun around, exiting the aisle and looking at the checkouts. “Arrow!”
“Mam,” said a man in a white dress shirt and slacks, walking over with a headset on.
“I had a little girl with me and she’s missing and she was in the cart and I would have heard her climb out,” you said, walking quickly, the man following with you as you checked down aisles. “Arrow!”
You heard the guy talk into his headset when you caught pink and a guy near the front of the store. She spun around and you ran over, the manager not too far behind you. You didn’t say a word when you kicked the back of the guys knee and grabbed Arrow, picking her up.
“What’d I do?” he said, Arrow turning away. He looked more angry than you were expecting and you swallowed, the manager urging you back. “She’s the one that took my granddaughter!”
“She’s not your fucking granddaughter, pervert. I’m her nanny and soon to be step-mom so you can back the fuck off.”
“Step fucking what?” he said, his face going blank.
“Grandpa I told you Y/N’s my friend,” said Arrow. You blinked and stared at the man.
“Prove it,” you said. The man angrily pulled out his wallet and ripped out a picture, turning it around. It was a large group photo but you could clearly see Jensen and the kids in it along with… “You’re her father. Danneel.”
“Who the fuck are you,” he said. You took out your phone and went to your pictures, showing him one of your backyard bonfire from the weekend before.
“Is there a problem?” asked the manager. You shook your head and he rolled his eyes and left.
“Sir, I’m so sorry,” you said. He nodded and glanced down.
“Well, I can’t blame you. I understand the feeling,” he said.
“Can we...talk?” you asked.
“I think that’d be best before somebody else gets their ass kicked.”
Fifteen minutes later you had your bag of baking supplies in your trunk, Arrow was playing on the jungle gym and you were sat at a picnic table with Danneel’s parents.
“You guys came down early for JJ’s birthday, huh,” you said.
“We had to come down this weekend instead. Something came up last minute next week,” said her mom. You nodded and took a deep breath.
“I am so sorry. That is absolutely not how Jensen and I wanted to tell you both.”
“I’m old but I’m tough. I’ll survive,” said her father. You looked over to where Arrow was playing, gnawing on your bottom lip. “You said you were the nanny and soon to be step mom. Mind unraveling that for us?”
“I uh, I started working for Jensen in January as a nanny to help with the kids. The relationship part came a few weeks later. We’ve been engaged very briefly. Don’t even have a ring or anything yet,” you said, shaking your head. “Please don’t be mad at him. It’s taken him so long to stop feeling guilty for having feelings for me. Please don’t be upset with him. I don’t...I’m not trying to replace anyone or anything. I didn’t want to like him. But I did and I love him and he deserves to be happy again.”
They looked at one another and back at you.
“Good,” they both said.
“Excuse me?”
“We think he deserves to be happy too. He was in such a bad place after the accident,” she said. “He’s sounded like himself again recently.”
“Plus if you’re willing to kick my ass for thinking I took Arrow, that gets you some brownie points,” he said with a smile. You nodded and looked down at the table, swallowing. “Not what you were expecting?”
“Your daughter’s husband is engaged to a younger woman. I wouldn’t blame you at all for whatever you might think,” you said.
“He’s got a lot of time left,” he said. “He doesn’t have to be miserable for it. We don’t want that for him. It’s not what she’d want. He’s doing exactly what she’d want from him and that’s all we can ask of him. Well and maybe stick around the country for a bit so we can see the kids some more.”
“Yeah, no plans to be anywhere but home right now,” you said. You looked over at Arrow and watched her jump off a high platform. She fell down to her knees but got up and brushed them off before she was running again.
“She’d like you,” you heard, your attention going back to the two of them. She was staring at you and you smiled.
“You don’t know a thing about me mam.”
“I think we know the important parts,” she said. You nodded and glanced down. “What do Jensen’s parents think of all this?”
“They know he’s dating but that’s it. I’m supposed to meet them next week,” you said.
“We’ll keep our lips sealed for the time being then,” she said. “What about your folks? What do they think of Jensen and the kids?”
“The kids probably haven’t met either parent yet, right?” he said.
“It’s kinda complicated...I was adopted. My mom died a long time ago. I don’t have a dad or family really,” you said. You pursed your lips and picked at the corner of the table with your fingernail, the air heavy.
“Well we approve of him,” he said. “He’s a good kid.”
“I know. He’s very special,” you said. “I just wish something so horrible didn’t have to happen to him and your daughter in order to meet him.”
“We can’t change that fact,” she said. “She’d want you to take care of him, keep an eye on him. Oh and remind him to take a break and slow down every once in a while. He always gets so caught up in work and being on the go. She had to calm him down sometimes.”
“I have noticed that trend,” you said. “I hope you don’t feel like he’s going to forget-”
“No we don’t worry about that. If we learned anything from this it’s just that you have to live while you have the chance,” he said as Arrow ran over.
“Y/N, I’m hungry,” she said.
“Alright, munchkin. Why don’t we head home and maybe your grandma and grandpa will have lunch with us?” you asked.
“We’d love to,” they said. “We’ll meet you two there.”
“That went shockingly well,” said Jensen late that night when you were having an extra slice of JJ’s early birthday cake. “Those guys loved you.”
“I think we both got a little too worried over the parents situation. Dee’s parents were great, especially considering I nearly broke his knee. I’m really excited to meet yours next weekend.”
“It’s not too long of a drive up there. I haven’t been home in a long time. I’m looking forward to it too,” he said, a big smile on his face. “I’m really glad they liked you.”
“What’s not to love?” you said, Jensen smirking around his piece of cake. “You’re so hard on yourself. I’m really happy they like me too but even if they didn’t, there’s no problem there. You’re allowed to live your life. Dee wants you to keep living it.”
“I still wonder if she was just like ‘this boy is driving me nuts again, he needs a girl,’ and somehow shoved you into my life,” he said.
“Maybe. I mean, it was good timing that I was looking for a new job the same time you were looking for a nanny.”
“Did you ever report that last guy as an inappropriate employer?” he asked.
“I tell the agency but nothing criminal no. I mostly feel sorry for the families. Nannies are stability in the kids lives and leaving them isn’t easy. Unless they’re little shitheads but even then I don’t blame them, it’s the parents that turned them into it,” you said.
“What’d you think of those three, when you met ‘em I mean,” he said.
“They’re all a little shy like you but they open up if they like you. They’re pretty damn funny. They got wit and sarcasm, even if they don’t know it yet. They’re kind and intelligent and they look to you in how to act like most kids. I knew they were good kids from the start.”
“You’re gonna be a great mom,” he said. You smiled and watched him eat a piece of cake, Jensen tilting his head. “You know they have called you mom before. All three of them. Accidentally but still.”
“Being a nanny has some of the roles of a parent but there’s still a difference,” you said.
“Yeah but you’ve never just been the nanny,” he said, scraping up some frosting with his fork. “Speaking of your sudden thrust into motherhood, the whole kids thing...how many of your own were you thinking of?”
“I don’t know. I don’t need to make a baby to love it. I was adopted and my mom loved me so much. I mean there’s already three of ‘em to chase after.”
“I’d like to have a baby with you. Someday,” he said. You dabbed your finger across some frosting on the plate and sucked on it, staring at him. “I know you do. Y/N there’s no more secrets. There’s never gonna be a secret between us ever again. Sometimes you get nervous but we have to talk about these things and everything. The big choices and the little ones we make together.”
“Honestly? I don’t want you to think I’ll love them less than a kid I make. I won’t. I will treat them all the same but I don’t know how to prove that to you.”
“You told me the day I hired you that I needed to hire someone I could trust, that trust was going to be so important. Y/N, I’ve never doubted your feelings for them. Shit, I’m pretty damn sure you were in love with them before me. And I get it because they aren’t scary. They can’t hurt you like the adults can. We wouldn’t be having this conversation if I had a shred of doubt.”
“I gotta think about kids more I guess. How many, when. I don’t know that right now.”
“We’ll figure out all that when we’re ready. Just let me know and we’ll come back to this conversation,” he said, wrapping an arm around your waist. “You know...hearing about what you did at the store...that’s kinda super attractive you know.”
“Uh what?” you said, Jensen pulling you into his lap.
“You, going protective badass...that’s very, very hot you see,” he said.
“You’re such a guy,” you said while he picked up the last piece of cake on his fork.
“Well we-” he said as you leaned forward and wrapped your lips around the dessert, pulling back with a smile. “Oh you shouldn’t have done that.”
“What are you gonna do about it?” you smirked. He narrowed his eyes and set his fork down before he was standing and flipped you over his shoulder. “Jensen! Put me down!”
“Do the crime, do the time!” he said, walking over to the stairs. “Hm...what to do with you...ah I know…”
“You know…” you said before he flipped you down onto the couch and plopped down on top of you, catching most of his weight on his hands on either side of you. “Troublemaker.”
“You love it,” he said. He leaned down and kissed you, your hands wandering to his hair, holding him close. You grinned and wrapped your legs around his waist, Jensen kissing you sloppy and cheeky and like a teenage boy making out for the first time.
“Dad,” said JJ, rushing down the stairs. He dropped this forehead to yours and sighed.
“What is it?” he asked. He sat up and you both looked at her, spotting the pale tint of her skin. “Feel okay?”
“Jensen call an ambulance, now,” you said, pushing him off and going over to her. He sat up and you kneeled down next to her, her lips slightly blue. You put a hand on her chest and felt the labored breathing. “Did you eat something new tonight? Or did a bug bite you?”
“I stepped on a prickly in the bathroom a minute ago,” she said.
“Jesus,” said Jensen as he rushed into the kitchen. “She got stung by a scorpion.”
He grabbed a bottle from the cabinet and started unscrewing it.
“Jensen go see what the scorpion is and get rid of it before the twins find it,” you said. He left the bottle with you and shoved the phone against your ear. “Hi, sorry how much of the anti-venom do I give her?”
“There should be a child dosage on the bottle, half the cap,” the person on the other end said. You unscrewed the lid and poured some out, having her swallow it down. She whined and you didn’t blame her based on the smell. “An ambulance will be there shortly.”
“Thank you,” you said, spotting Jensen at the top of the stairs. He was holding his wrist and had a slightly smushed object in one of the clear plastic cups from the kids bathroom. “We have the scorpion.”
“EMT’s should be able to identify it,” she said, Jensen walking down slowly. He took a seat on the bottom step and shook his head.
“Jensen?” you said, his hand reaching for the bottle. You moved his hand from his wrist and saw two dots there. “Shit. My fiance was stung too.”
“There’s a nest in the bathroom vanity,” he said, pouring himself a dose and knocking it back. “I blocked off the door but get the twins out of there, please.”
“JJ,” you said as you saw her color get better while Jensen was getting paler. You took your phone out of your pocket and dialed, handing it to her. “Tell Uncle Jared to come over right now.”
Five minutes later Jared was there, JJ and Jensen sat in the back of an ambulance, Jensen getting a shot of something in the leg.
“We’re taking them to West County,” said a paramedic.
“I’ll see you guys soon,” you said, JJ staring worriedly at Jensen who has holding his wrist again. Jared looked around as they took off and you sighed. “Hey.”
“JJ said she and Jay got stung by a scorpion?” he asked.
“She got one as far as they can tell. Jensen got three. There’s a nest in the bathroom cupboard,” you said.
“Idiot,” mumbled Jared. You raised and eyebrow and he shook his head. “He forgot to get the pest spray done this year I bet. Dee always handled that kind of stuff. They’ve had a scorpion problem before when they first moved in.”
“Oh.”
“I’m gonna take the twins and stay the night. I’ll call and get the spray guys in first thing in the morning. You go take care of those two,” he said. You nodded and he grabbed your arm when you headed for your car. “Wait five minutes to calm down.”
“Jared I’m fine.”
“No, you’re not. You just don’t know it. Go inside, get your purse, Jensen’s wallet, take a beat, okay?”
“Okay,” you said. “Make sure-”
“I got it. Go on,” he said. “Make sure he’s not freaking out. Last time he was at a hospital it wasn’t good.”
“Right. Okay. Call me if you need something. And stay away from the kids bathroom.”
“Y/N. I know. It’ll be alright, I promise.”
One Hour Later
“Is dad okay?” asked JJ from where she sat in your lap. Jensen peeled an eye open and smiled.
“I’m okay. Sleepy is all. We’ll be home in a few hours,” he said. His wrist was bandaged and he had an IV in his arm but he’d taken the anti-venom soon enough that they had enough time to get the proper medication in both him and JJ. She was already discharged but you didn’t want to leave Jensen by himself.
“Mr. Ackles,” said a doctor when she walked in the room. “Your bloodwork came back and everything looks good.”
“Awesome,” he said, sitting up in bed. “Can I get out of here?”
“You got about fifteen minutes left on that IV drip but I’ll let the nurse know to start the paperwork. I want you to take it easy tomorrow. Nothing strenuous.”
“I got it,” he said with a nod. “Nothing strenuous.”
“Jensen,” you said around noon the next day, catching him unloading some wood from the back of his truck. “What are you doing?”
“I was gonna work on those shelves for the kid’s playroom,” he said. You crossed your arms and he threw his head back. “I feel fine. The nest got cleared out and the house got sprayed. I wanna work on this.”
“You have all the time in the world to do it. Work on it tomorrow,” you said, picking up the wood plank. He tried to take it out of your hands and you growled.
“Sorry,” he mumbled.
“Please do what the doctor said and rest today,” you said. He bit his lip and you moved the pieces of wood into the garage, Jensen leaning back against the side of the truck when you shut the trunk. “You’re scared, aren’t you.”
He nodded and glanced at his wrapped up wrist, then down to the ground.
“Hospitals freak me out now,” he said. “I don’t like bugs. My body hurt and knowing I forgot to do something so simple put them in danger sucks. Knowing if she hadn’t come downstairs it might have been real bad sucks. If you hadn’t noticed I don’t know if I would have and it scares me not knowing.”
“Close your eyes for me,” you said. He shut them and took a deep breath, letting you take his hand and walk around to the back of the house. You spun him around a few times stopping him so he was facing the pool about twenty feet away. “Know where you are?”
“Somewhere in the middle of the backyard,” he said. “What are you doing?”
“You said not knowing scared you. Lots of times you don’t know. It’s kinda just how life works,” you said, dropping his hand and moving a few feet away. “Take a big step forward.”
“Y/N, I don’t like this,” he said, fidgeting his hand along the bottom of his shirt.
“I know you don’t. But would I hurt you?”
“No,” he said.
“So listen to me. Big step forward.” He took a step and you looked around. “Jump backwards.”
“What?”
“Jump backwards.” He frowned and took a small bunny hop back. “Again.”
“I feel ridiculous.”
“Says the guy who plays pretend for a professional career. Now hop back and then step to the right,” you said. He groaned and did as asked. “Jog forward until I say stop.”
“Are you trying to kill me out here cause I feel like I’m about to break my neck slipping in the pool.”
“I’m trying to get your anxiety out in a non-life threatening way, okay?”
“By having me jump around the backyard like an idiot.”
“By having you get comfortable with the fact that most of life is spent not knowing and you can’t change that fact. You can’t see it all coming.”
He threw his head back but kept his eyes shut. He stared to run towards you and you wrapped your arms around him when he got there, Jensen peeling them open slowly.
“See? I wasn’t gonna let anything bad happen,” you said. He nodded and rested his forehead on your shoulder, pulling you into a squeezing hug. “You okay?”
“I’m sorry for being short and not doing what the doctor asked,” he said.
“Hey, it’s alright. I got scared too last night. Everything is fixed now so no need to worry over it. Why don’t you take a nap and maybe we have a real quiet lazy day while Dee’s parents got the kids for the day,” you said. “Sound fun?”
“Okay,” he said. “I’ll take quiet today.”
Three hours later Jensen was curled up with a blanket, his head resting in your lap as you watched a movie together. You played with his hair, Jensen turning into the touch every so often.
“I know you’re worried about me,” he said. He turned and faced up at you, your fingers swirling in his strands. “I know I’m kinda clingy today which I’m normally not.”
“You can cling all you want, honey,” you said, stroking his cheek with your thumb. “I wish life would give you a break for a second. No work, no badness. Just some peace and quiet for you.”
“My parents lived here after the accident. For a few months. They were here, Jared and Gen were over every day, my siblings would stop down every week. The first few months I understood. I had an injury I had to recover from. But I felt like a child those few months once I recovered. Everyone taking care of the kids, of me. I was barely a father to them. Playtime. A story at bed. Someone else made most of their meals, did everything for them.”
“You’re a father but you’re still someone’s child,” you said. He blinked and you shrugged. “You were hurt, possibly the worst out of anyone. I know taking care of everyone else is your default but people get to take care of you too. I get to take care of you.”
“I feel like all I do is get taken care of by you,” he said. “I never give it back.”
“You’ve given me a family again. You take care of me every single day.”
“I never see you getting upset. It’s always me. I’m always the fuck up,” he said. You slumped down and took a deep breath.
“I get upset Jensen. I got upset that very first time we fought, that night with the ice cream. I got upset when you got jealous of that nanny in Canada and we saw my father the first time. I got upset telling you the truth of it all because you of all people don’t need problems like that dumped at your feet. I got upset when we saw him again because I was scared and I was scared he might hurt you too. I got upset when we fought when you got home and I got upset when you proposed because you were so scared and I get upset Jensen. I get upset when you’re hurt. I get upset when I hurt. But I don’t have all those safety nets under me that you do, remember? I just got a couple right now and you’re my last resort. I’ve been my own support system for so long that I can’t undo that all overnight. I know it’s been months but the fact I even let you see me cry, the fact I can even talk about this stuff with you and know all you’re thinking about is how to make me feel better...I still need to heal too. You’ve done so much already. I’m gonna have my moments where this is switched, believe me. But today’s not my turn for that, it’s yours.”
“I love you,” he said, staring up with the softest green eyes you’d ever seen on him yet. “Even more than five minutes ago if that’s possible.”
“I love you,” you said, bending down and kissing him. “You’re the expert on the falling in love stuff though so I’ll leave that up to you.”
“It’s very...it’s what you think it is and it’s not at all what you think. There’s falling and nerves and then calm and then falling and calm and you spend the rest of your life doing that. It’s not magic and it takes work to keep it alive sometimes but all you gotta do is talk. Just talk and it always seems to work out for me,” he said.
“Can I tell you a secret?” you asked. He nodded and smiled as you went back to playing with his hair.
“You know I really like when you do that,” he said.
“I know you do. It relaxes you,” you said.
“Makes me feel safe too,” he said. “But what’s your secret cause eventually I’m gonna want to know them all.”
“I was very attracted to you when we met. But that kinda freaked me out a bit. I found myself liking you a lot that first day I was here. You got me a birthday cake. I realized how kind you are that night. It wasn’t for anyone’s benefit other than my own. I had a crush on you, even though I knew it wouldn’t go anywhere.”
“I had a crush on you from when you made me a cup of coffee. You’re so good and kind yourself,” he said. He reached up and cupped your cheek. “I’m really happy you had your mom eventually. I would have liked to have met her.”
“Maybe she and Dee are hanging out wherever they are.”
“I hope so. She won’t mind sharing me with you,” he said.
“You honestly think so?”
“You gonna mind sharing me with her?” he asked.
“I’ve always shared you. Just hope that wouldn’t bother her.”
“I used to think maybe it would but no, she wants me to be happy and that’s you so you got all eternity to get to know each other eventually if you think about it.”
“Well when you put it that way we got nothing to worry about,” you said.
“Oh don’t worry about that. I think your mom was right. I get to have two people is all, kinda like she did,” he said.
“She would have liked you. Would have said you’re a little old for me but she would have liked you.”
“Wasn’t she older than Ray?” he asked.
“Yeah. She was. She was only fifty,” you said.
“You grew up too fast,” he said quietly.
“Maybe. But it got me here and I don’t think I would have done anything different. I wouldn’t want to screw that up. Well I’d do one thing different.”
“What?”
“Drop by this house, have a conversation with a certain someone.”
“Say hypothetically you had that ability, you’d really do that knowing what you’re giving up?
“I’d give her back to you right this second if I could.”
“I appreciate that, really,” he said. He let his hand fall down and reach around your back, curling around your waist. “But she’s not more important than you are. I miss her. Everyday. But I lose one of you either way in that scenario. And I can’t choose. I’ll never be able to. If she were here and you weren’t, I’d still be just like this. It’d still hurt.”
“Make me a promise. I keel over early, you try again. Try for both of us.”
“I will if you will,” he said. He held up his pinky finger and you grabbed it with yours. “But he can’t be hotter than me.”
“Equally as hot?”
“Slightly less hot but that’s my final offer,” he said.
“Eh, fine,” you said. “You’ve worn me down.”
“Always words I want to hear,” he chuckled. You slid further down the couch until you were practically laying back, your arms wrapping around him. He got up and lay down with you on the wrap around side of the couch, pulling you into his chest. “Can I take you to dinner tonight? Just us.”
“Yeah. I’d like that.”
“Okay, honey,” he said, kissing your forehead. “Thank you.”
“For what?”
“Just thanks. For what you said. What you did earlier, just being with me,” he said.
“Lucky for you I like being with you a whole lot,” you said.
“Very lucky for me,” he said. “Very lucky indeed.”
Ah I loved the PLL one shot! Can we please get an emily fields one where the reader is her little sister and they find them in a life threatening situation and emily has never been more scared (reader got injured while protecting her sister). You can make it as angsty as you want!!
A/N: I feel a bit better and I couldn't wait to post again so.. here we go! :)
---
You were out, once again following a trail to A when you had the feeling of being followed and observed by several eyes. It was too dark to see anything, the glow of your flashlights were too weak to shine through the vastness of the deep forest.
"Folks, we should go. I think we're being watched." you talked in the direction of the four other girls in front of you while you pressed your jacket closer to your body, following their steps and kept shining backwards. "Don't be so paranoid, Y/N and start searching." Hanna whispered back annoyed, which gave the dark atmosphere even more space for fear.
While the others searched the area near the tiny burned barn, the rustling of the deciduous trees in the wind of the evening and the cracking and breaking of individual branches behind you made you crazy. Any kind of noise made you listen attentively and made your heart race faster.
You swallowed hard and turned back to your friends, you couldn't get rid of the feeling that something was wrong and that danger was lurking for you. "We have to get out of here!" you demanded before something hissed past you and got stuck in the old wood of the door from the burned house in front of you. It was a small arrow that easily missed you by not even an inch. "Get down!"
You looked quickly in the direction where the arrow was coming from before your shaking hand reached out to it and pulled it out of the charred wood. You threw yourself down on the floor and crawled to your sister which pulled you by your arm behind a piece of wood for cover. "Are you hurt?"
"Just my feelings, the next time you all don't fucking listen to me." you snapped and leaned your back against the wall while trying to calm down from your adrenaline kick, your body trembling in your sisters body. You took a deep breath before you held the object in front of your face to inspect the missile. With your index finger, you trailed the tip of it; it was sharp and could do significant damage at that speed.
"A bow?" Aria stammered as she looked over Emily to you and the thing in your hand. Your eyes slowly traveled to Aria, the whole situation visibly scared her as her body trembled and her voice cracked. "A crossbow, smaller and more dangerous." replied Spencer in a hushed tone.
Two more times it hissed behind you and Emily took your head protectively in her arms and hid it with her own while you heard fearful screams from your side. The attacker knew exactly where you were hiding; the arrows got stuck in front of you in the rolled up hay bales, a few centimeters away from you.
"We need a plan, NOW!"
You went through every single way you could get your friends and sister out of here safely. You didn't know how many of them were out there hunting you, you didn't even had a clue where you left Spencer's car. "There is no other way out, we have to run." You stated and hoped the brunette genius would intervene and suggest a better idea, but when she nodded and scanned her eyes for a way out through the rubble, you knew that there was nothing left you could do.
You turned on your knees and peaked your head over the ledge when you saw two people in black come towards you. This time, panic kicked in and you sank to the ground before you looked in shocked faces and counted down. "Run but keep your heads down!"
While Aria, Hanna & Spencer squeezed through the ailing wooden beams that were still standing, you pushed Emily forward with one hand on her lower back to get her to move before you started to sprint and jump over the beams after her.
The arrows that just flew past your head and the unpleasant sound they left in your ears mixed with the screaming of the other girls was uncomfortable and made you wince every time. You tried to follow Emily, even if she was far faster than you, she dragged you by the hand and you could feel your legs slowly getting tired and you getting out of breath.
You and your sister got separated from the others short after and ran in a completely different direction. Now you were definitely unsure whether you were on the right track at all or whether you would run into A's hands. "Emy, I need a break." you puffed as you stopped in an open and free place, resting your hands on your knees while breathing heavily.
While she was about to begin to talk, loud footsteps came out of the forest again. You could only see the black figure in your line of sight before the person pulled his crossbow in front of his chest and pulled the trigger.
"Emily!"
As if in slow motion, you crossed the last few meters with your last strength and shoved her aside with an violent push. You heard her grunting as she slid across the ground, gravel digging into her skin as you heard a sharp intake of breath shortly followed with her pulling herself back up, holding the arm she fell on.
You doubled over, falling to the floor and now were laying on the ground. You let out a short, painful scream that filled the whole atmosphere while trying to support yourself with your elbows. But it didn't work, you lost your strength and fell to the ground again, noticing a sharp pain in your upper stomach.
You raised your head and looked at the sore spot; an arrow had pierced your torso and was still stuck in you, a big blood stain already starting to cover your white shirt. "Damn." you mumbled while you put your hands around the arrow to stabilize it. "Oh my god, Y/N!"
She ran to you and threw herself on the floor next to you, completely blocking out her pain. With her good hand, she hovered over your stomach, trying to do something but didn't know what. "No no no." the pain you could her in your sister's voice made a chill run own your spine - or was it the cold that gradually spread through your entire body? "I don't know what to do. I don't know."
You clenched your teeth before speaking, your voice fragile and weak, your lips starting to turn blue. "You have to..." you bit your lip to keep from screaming. "Call the girls. Get the car."
While she nodded and pulled up her nose, she took her cell phone out of her pocket and called Hanna. She explained in short sentences what had happened while she paused every now and then to take a deep breath and to check if you were still with her.
You were trembling uncontrollable and the vision in front of your eyes became blurred while the pain faded slowly but steady. "We're at some small lake. Come quickly, she is loosing a lot of blood. PLEASE!" she yelled into the phone before it fell on the gravel. Her finger intertwined with your bloody hand. "It's okay, do you hear? You will be okay."
She pressed your cold hand tighter into hers while she placed them on her lap. With her aching and bruised arm, she brushed your hair from your face and you could see by her impression how overwhelmed she was with this situation. "You saved me."
"Do you see the stars and the moon? They are so beautiful." did you start talking to distract your sister from what was happening at that moment. She was hyperventilating. "Do you remember the camp? We always looked for the individual stars in out astrology book." you whispered and raised your free hand once more to the sky. You noticed how your consciousness slowly faded and your breathing became difficult; it was now flat and painful.
"Yes it was beautiful." she whispered and began to smile. She remembered the wonderful time with you under the stars. You were always so excited when she told you which signs were currently in the sky and heard her stories until you fell asleep. For a brief moment her tears had stopped flowing and her worries disappeared. "Do you remember your favorite story?"
But there was no answer.
In a flesh she looked down at you and only now noticed that your hand was no longer holding her but was just lying loosely in it. The other hand had fallen to the side from your stomach and was also motionless while your eyes were closed and you no longer responded to any attempt she was making to wake you up.
One down, four to go. - A
Did you really think that Miranda was going to let you leave so easily? Again?
Anything italicized is a flashback...this is part two to Misthios
Your time with the Vikings was fun but all good things had to come to an end. Over the years, you hadn't been too keen on letting too many people in on your secret. Your friends and makeshift family were getting older and you weren't. You were still fit for battle and as young and strong as you were twelve years ago. You knew that you'd overstayed your welcome but you weren't ready to leave until there were too many comments about you not aging a day. It had taken you a week to get your steed ready for long travel and to make sure that you had everything necessary, including the coin to purchase more supplies should you need it.
You weren't above doing odd jobs during your travels if needed. The viking children ran alongside you and your stallion as you both trotted out of the village until you were on an open road. You saluted them before taking off into a run following the lead of your war horse, allowing her to dictate your travels until she decided that she needed a break.
You had all of the time and opportunity in the land.
You traveled like that for a few days until you were coming upon a village but the path was winding and would take some time but you had plenty of daylight and were in no rush. Everything was peaceful until you came across an overturned wagon and nearly trampled over a body laying face down into the soft ground. The dark puddle around him did not indicate that the man would be rising soon.
You were quick to draw your bow and arrow, a good distance from the fight and you had an advantage in case any of them came for you. There was a black flag on the ground near the wagon but it held an insignia that you didn't recognize but you knew royalty when you saw it. The soldiers had the upper hand but there were a few of them dead as well. On the other side, you saw one of the bandits jump on the back of a horse to leave.
Without much of a thought, you raised your weapon of choice and not a second later, you felt the smooth wood of the arrow slip between your calloused fingers and you watched proudly as it found a home in the base of the man's spine, effectively halting his escape but leaving him alive for the time being but he was not without suffering.
It was at that same moment the last bandit was struck down. The remaining soldiers turned to you with their swords raised but before anything else could happen, a sharp and clear but decidedly feminine voice stopped the misunderstanding before it could happen.
A woman with light-colored long hair stepped from behind a large oak tree with two foot soldiers in tow. She didn't seem to care about the ends of her dress being sullied by the mud and blood on the trail as she made her way towards you. You climbed down from your horse when she was closer, not surprised that you were taller than she was but she wasn't that much shorter than you really.
Most other women you met that were your height or taller were fellow warriors. Her eyes were what really startled you, they were so clear they were almost white. They did not have a clear color to them, not one that you could see.
“You are a very long way from home, Viking.”
“Yes, in search of a new one.” you glanced over her shoulder briefly to the soldiers dealing with the one who tried to escape, his agonized yelling startling a nest of crows nearby.
“You don't seem like the type to miss a killing shot.”
Your gaze fell back to her unwavering one and you fought the urge to fidget under her stare even though you were the one towering over her. Her posture was none threatening and her smile had a teasing tilt to it, but her eyes...they pierced your soul, pinned you. You were unsure if you wanted to run from them or figure out how deep they went.
“I figured your King and Queen would want one alive to question.”
“The King has been dead for a long time now.” The woman tilted her head back slightly as if looking at you in a new light and you straightened your back and pushed your shoulders subconsciously and the corners of her pale lips curled a little more. “Have dinner with me tonight, viking, as a token of my gratitude. Those bandits have been quite a torn in my side for a very long time now. Thanks to you, maybe now I will find their leader.”
~~
The physical ache you felt when waking up was around your throat, well your whole neck. Your skin had long since healed over but it took the aches and bruises a while longer to go away. You don't know how long you've been unconscious but even without opening your eyes you knew that you were no longer outside on the side of a mountain which meant that she didn't kill you. But she still hurt you. You didn't know if she showed restraint because you both knew that killing you would be pointless and temporary or she truly didn't want to see you harm even if she was upset with you. You knew that it was the former.
Upset being the understatement.
You opened one eye then the other, wherever she put you it was warm if not a little moldy and it was definitely dark, you weren't quite sure if the torch on the other side of your cage helped any. Maybe it wasn't meant for you to use to see but to ensure that you wouldn't go completely insane in total darkness. It made more sense, you wouldn't want your prisoner to look around either lest they find something to use to escape.
You moved so that your back was against the stone wall, mildly surprised to find that it was a little damp. Your neck was still covered in dried blood but you didn't bother trying to scrape it off, knowing from experience that it wasn't the most pleasant feeling and one you chose not to deal with at the moment though you did pick away the random straws of hay from your skin as you'd been laying on it.
If you had to guess then you were in a basement, whether it was hers or not—you couldn't just sit there. Your backpack was long gone, you didn't have to look around your little cage to know that much. You checked for your gun not surprised to find that it was gone...she even took the damn holster.
You checked for your knife on your waist...gone. You checked the one that was hidden in your boots, or was supposed to be but it was gone too. Even after all this time, she knew you all too well. But even without weapons, a small cage like this wouldn't be enough to keep you. You just needed a plan but you had no idea where the hell you were. You reached up to feel your neck where you remembered her nails digging painfully into your flesh...
Gold plated armor, soft leathers and the finest silk that currency could purchase found themselves haphazardly tossed about all over the floor of the room. They reflected nicely against the small flames of the candles around the room.
The room was temporary, a small stop during your travels across the sea—this was merely a supply stop, but with the weather so severe, the waves were slaves to Poseidon's wrath. The ship was safer docked but she wouldn’t spend another night on board if she didn’t have to.
And didn’t, neither of you did. You were her personal champion—you went where she went. She pointed, and you left a path of bloody boot prints. Her wish was your command.
She laid bare before you, it wasn’t a sight that many were blessed with and no matter what sin you’ve committed at this woman’s whim (hell, even your own), you always thanked the Gods for giving you sight.
The fireplace is the only thing lighting up the entire room behind you both, you could feel the heat of it drying up your sweat but not all of it. You were straddling her, knees on either side of her waist—one hand on her waist and the other by her head, fingers interlaced with the hand that wasn’t reaching back clutching you tight, nails digging into your skin but that slight pain only fueled you.
Her light hair was out of its strict confines and complicated royal hairstyle, now splayed across her blemish free back and the pillows.
This was your reward; having her. You did exactly as she asked, you brought her the heads of those who crossed her and bathed in their blood and in the blood of their loved ones. You left no stone unturned simply because it was her wish.
And in return…you got her, however you wanted. But even trapped underneath you—she was never not in command. You placed your other hand next to her head as well, feeling her cool breath ghosting over your fingers turn sharp and unsteady when your hips snapped forward without warning. Her fingers tightening around yours. She tried to push back against you to take back some control but you met her attempt with untamed energy. Miranda's breathy chuckle tapered off into a mix of a growl and a moan when you did it again and again…
Shaking your head, you let it fall back on the hard wall behind you with your eyes closed. You've longed since buried those memories but they were fresh, as if they were made yesterday. The ache in your heart felt fresh too.
Then you felt it. No you felt her. Her presence was so strong, nearly suffocating and that feeling of dread was crawling up your spine again and you suppressed a strong shudder. You reluctantly opened your eyes, knowing that those eyes you fell so hard for would be looking back at you—the same eyes that tore to shreds. Even after all this fucking time...
You exhaled slowly and heavy, content to just stare at your boots, “I didn't expect to find you here of all places...”
“Would you have come if you'd known that I would be here?”
You looked up and saw that her startling bright eyes were staring back at you, still just as clear as the day you first met, “Why am I in this cage and not dead in a ditch? Besides the fucking obvious.”
She didn't say anything to you for a moment, simply standing there staring at you—drinking you in, it made your skin crawl, both good and bad. If she was bothered about you blatantly ignoring her question, it didn't show—or at least that damn mask she was wearing hid it away from you. All those emotions you'd long since buried and thought you dealt with came bubbling back to the surface like bile in the back of your throat but you kept a tight rein on it. Your explosive temper never dulled over time but you got better at containing it.
But no matter how good you were with restraining yourself, Miranda always knew. You could see it in her eyes. You hated her for it.
“I felt you the moment you arrived.” she said instead after long minutes of unblinking silence, she edged closer to your cell, unconcerned with the fact that you could lunge forward at any point and grab her. “I'm relieved to find you're still alive...and in good health?”
“Either kill me and ditch me somewhere, or just let me go, Miranda. I'm not doing this with you.”
“I cannot and will not do either, (Y/n).” she responded coolly after another minute of silence, keeping your gaze now that you've given it to her, “I just got you back, I'm not going to let you leave me so soon. Not again.”
“You didn't really give me a choice the first time!” you snapped back despite what you told yourself earlier about keeping calm and breathing, but seeing Miranda now—even more beautiful than she was before? It was too much at once. “You made that decision for both of us.” you said, much more quieter but she was close enough to have heard you perfectly fine and you were finally able to look away from those burning eyes.
“You're different.”
“The world is different.”
“Time has made you soft.”
You scoffed, “Would you like to borrow some of it? I mean...what the fuck is this? Where am I?” She regarded you calmly as if she was assessing you, but her eyes were roaming too much to be a simple assessment and you just laughed, sharp and unforgiving, you couldn't help yourself, “Do you feel guilty? Did you ever?”
“I don't have time to feel guilty!” she answered a little too quickly and you saw how her shoulders shifted slightly beneath those feathers, always a tell sign of hers that you never failed to notice and honestly you were surprised that you still even remembered her tales. She was so obviously different, you both were but this dance? While off tune and tense, was still your dance.
“Right, I see.” you tried to ignore it, you really did, but a little piece of your heart fell away at her admission because there was still a small part of you that still longed for closure.
“(Y/n)...”
“Do you even remember what you're supposed to even feel guilty for?”
“Stop it! You're not being fair!” she growled at you, pressing closer against the bars—if she pushed anymore she'd probably break the damn things, or materialize right through them but that didn't stop you from scrambling to your feet to meet her head on, refusing to let her have the full advantage.
“Neither were you! I...” you stopped abruptly, literally choking on your words and you forced yourself to close your mouth and Miranda watched every single emotion drain from your face as if you had flipped a switch and her hands balled into even tighter fists at her sides, unsure what to say and you had nothing left to say.
You two stood staring at each other, once again. Eyes locked but not a word more was said. She reached up, one hand wrapping around an old iron bar, her engraved golden nails clinking softly against the metal.
“Mother Miranda.” a firm but sinewy voice echoed around you both, calling for your attention and it was feminine but you couldn't see who it belonged to. She was just out of range of the cell entrance and you'd have to move closer to Miranda to see who it belonged to—and that wasn't something you were interested in doing, “I apologize for the interruption...but we have a problem.”
“What.” Miranda hissed, her voice no longer soft and velvet—the only way you could describe it was deity like. Stronger, harsher and it would've been scarier if you didn't know the woman behind the mask.
“That fool Heisenberg let that man thing escape the forest and he's now roaming in the village.”
“I see.” Miranda's eyes fell to you again, radiating more power than they did earlier. You'd been so busy arguing with her, you hadn't heard the other woman approach and you wondered how much of that she actually overheard, “When you are ready to talk, I will be waiting for you, my little warrior.”
“Stop calling me that!” you spat, glaring at her irritatingly, “I'm not your anything...perhaps your enemy. You'd do better by just letting me leave, Miranda because you and I both know that killing me isn't an option.”
“And I already told you. I'm not letting you leave me, not again.” she was suddenly right in front of you, inside of the iron cage and you had no fucking idea how she did that but she was too close but the stone wall behind you didn't give away, no matter how hard you pressed. Her eyes were softer now, and you actually had to crane your neck a bit to see them, even at an even six feet, “Learn the truth then you decide if you wish to leave or to stay.”
“The truth?” you scoffed, well aware that you two still weren't alone, “The truth has long since past to be of any interest to me.” you lied straight through your teeth all the while looking into her eyes, you saw a speck of emotion but it was hard to tell when they were so alive, “I don't care about your truth anymore, Miranda.”
“You may not...but I do. Did our love mean nothing to you?” you both ignored the startled noise behind you, “All those late nights and early mornings? I think about them often when this life permits me to...I...do have regrets, (Y/n)...and wishes, most never granted.” she admitted, quietly—her deity voice gone for the moment, “One of my biggest regrets and my biggest wish was you, (Y/n).”
You didn't know how to unpack that in this moment because Miranda suddenly had both her hands on the wall, trapping you as she leaned closer—you knew what she was doing, hell she even knew what she was fucking doing? Was it working? Like the fool you were—it was.
“Allow me time to settle this issue and then we will talk, (Y/n).”
You could see the uncertainty in her eyes, and you almost told her to go fuck herself...it was on the tip of your tongue but your heart was still as stupid as it was thousands of years ago. You kept your lips firmly pressed together, but nodded curtly almost reluctantly. She didn't smile, not really, but that familiar curve of her lips made you tense a little. You were a fucking idiot, and you knew it.
“Lady Dimitrescu will house you. I will send for you when I am ready.” she lingered for a second longer, seeming to want to say more. Suddenly she pushed herself away from you and walking out of your cell with ease, pushing the heavy door out of her way leaving you bewildered.
Had it been unlocked this whole time? She hadn't even bothered to retrain you, but she knew you wouldn't make a move because now she had now something to keep you behaved long enough and you agreed to it.
Kaz Brekker x fem! mute! reader - Dancing eyes
Tumblr media
(Image not mine)
A/n: I just thought about this and here we are. Also! I will have at least two more imagines coming out today or tomorrow! I'm also sorry if I offended anyone I really tried to make a good representation of the reader and I did some research but I'm not mute so I don't know exactly what's that's like. So if you guys could tell me if I did anything wrong, just some feedback that would be nice!
Warnings: Mentions of trauma, death, angst, blood, gore, the reader is mute, fluff I think that's it? You have been warned!
Summary: Kaz falling in love with you
(The sign language is in italics bold!)
All rights go to leigh bardugo, netflix, and you! I just own the plot!
She was dancing when he first saw her.
She did a few twirls, her leg went into the air flawlessly into a arabesque to the side. It was powerful and controlled but it was graceful. The girl did a paw de chat and jumped high into the air turning around and landing with one leg behind her perfectly straight and pointed, one leg on the ground and her hands in front of her like she was presenting something to the audience.
The crowd clapped and applauded her but she did not smile, not till she did a low curtsy and while she did her y/c/e orbs meant his. Kaz's breath got lodged in his throat when he saw her beautiful eyes. Then they lit up like all the stars were in her eyes and her lips curved upwards forming a small grin.
Kaz shook his head, she wasn't valuable to the dregs so she wasn't worth looking for, so he turned swiftly on his feet and started walking towards the slat.
But you wish she was.
Kaz started looking for her everyday, and everyday she would be in her spot near the slat doing a dance. Her graceful movements often caught his eye and he would often find himself watching her from his window.
Weak.
But one day something else caught his eye about her, she had enough money for shoes and clothes, it didn't look like the girl ate much, barely enough to keep her alive. Thought still, she bought food.
Or did she?
He observed her in a different way now - for a week and to say the Brekker boy was surprised would be an understatement. The little dancer had been stealing.
Sometimes she would steal food, money, and do a few magic tricks here and there but the thing was he never saw her steal only saw the people leave with empty pockets.
Kaz could admit to himself that she was good, possibly better than him - which was dangerous. But could she kill someone? Maybe he could train her but he found he didn't want to force that upon the girl that danced outside his window everyday. Stealing food, money and even clothes sometimes.
Saints, I'm growing soft. Kaz thought to himself.
The next time he saw her was three weeks later well, the thing is he didn't see her outside his window dancing all day from 6:00pm sharp all the way to 3:30am.
He wondered how the girl slept.
He was limping down a street and he turned a corner only to hear a voice and it wasn't recognizable so he quietly limped over and peaked his head out.
It was the little dancer.
She had a grisha steel dagger pressed up against a man's throat. The man was trembling in fear, and the little kitten that once danced was gone and her claws were coming out.
"Please-please! I did can-can pay-pay you back! Please! I-I know people who-who can help!"
The man looked young but was definitely a sleaze ball, with his brown hair that looked like it was decaying, his round bodice, his fat arms and legs and he retched of alcohol and young girls.
He was nothing compared to the girl.
The tiger had a snarl on her face, but she didn't make a sound as she stabbed the dagger threw his forehead killing him. Then she pulled the knife and grabbed a piece of paper presumably writing something down on it.
She spun on her heels and she faced him.
Shit.
She just blinked at him and made some weird hand movements which Kaz identified as sign language.
Oh he did know what sign language was, he knew how to use it too.
If you wanted a show, you could have just asked dirtyhands.
The girl smiled when he rolled his eyes.
"I don't want a show, but I would like you to join the dregs." He said out loud in a monotone voice. She looked taken aback that he could understand her but she grinned even brighter that he could.
Of course. It's better.
She signs, using just those words and not adding anything else - just it's better. Though he knew actually what she meant.
"What are you. You seem to know your way around here, not to mention the stealing and killing."
I'm a assassin. I Trained somewhere... not in Kerch, and I escaped and went here.
Her signing his precise and graceful almost like her dance movements. She starts to walk away but she pause's and turn's to him.
You can call me Nemesis.
Then she walks away. He didn't even know the time or whether she was even going to show up. He didn't even know her real name - not a single thing about her real identity really.
Only that she dances.
After that day he dreamed of her every night. Sometimes she would be dancing outside or she was working on a job with him. On the occasion he would get a dream about her in a meadow holding up a flower and showing it to someone. But that seemed more like a memory more then anything because she looked younger - a child only five maybe seven.
He longed for the sleep.
Once after a job with the Crows she came to his room and her hair flowed down her back as she climbed into his desk chair while he was on his bed.
He didn't even hear her come into the room.
Writing something down on the paper she turns around and hands him it.
My name is Y/n.
That's when he knew she trusted him.
After that moment they slowly began to come together - slowly but surely. Whether it be a small brush of the hand or full on skin to skin contact they we're there and then they weren't. Technically, they weren't dating - not officially anyways but no one (not even the Crows) could find where Kaz or Y/n began or where they ended. It was like they we're on one big loop, they we're on person yet they we're different.
The first time he kissed her she was coming back from killing someone.
Y/n was his personal assassin, because of that she killed a lot of people and had to be never seen, no evidence, not always clean kills. But Y/n had already admitted to killing many people and she signed that she probably had killed more people in her childhood then he will ever tell her to kill in his lifetime.
So when she came back in tears after a murder he was rightly confused. Her bright y/c/e eyes we're filled to the brim with tears and the eyes that usually danced with emotions were almost dead looking. Though to Kaz they still looked beautiful.
That's not what she needs right now.
Kaz sat on the bed staring at the assassin that stood in the middle of his room, that looked nearly like the little dancer that he once thought she was. But her eyes looked shattered like glass spread across the floor in pieces.
He patted the room beside him on the bed and she reluctantly followed where his hand was and sat down. She kept her eyes cast down, and it killed Kaz to not see those beautiful eyes that danced. The only thing the left of her innocence in his opinion.
With an ungloved hand he lifted her chine up to his and slowly her eyes meant his. Her breath stuttered, she breathed in and started moving her hands using sign language to talk.
There was a child.
She started, always trying to get to the point fast enough.
They went up to me and...
Her hand movements came to an erupt stop and she slowly breathed in a breath preparing.
They called me a monster.
Kaz looks at her and the tears in her eyes. She needs comfort or something at least but he's not so sure he can give her that. He's not sure if he's even ready for that.
Yes you are. And Kaz could finally agree with the voice in his head.
He slowly brought their lips together and brushed them together in sync. He lifted his hand to go to her cheek and he stroked it. They pulled away, it was barley a kiss but it was enough.
"You could never be a monster Y/n." He whispered as their foreheads touched again.
__________TIME SKIP_____________________________________
Knives, arrows, and bullets were flying though the air. Some hitting people and some not. Kaz looked over to Y/n, he knew he shouldn't have brought her on this job.
She had an air of royalty around her, she killed whomever she liked out of the Blacktips.
That's if she granted them mercy.
If she didn't you would die a very painful death. Her hair was blowing in the wind making it look like she was floating, and for all Kaz knew about her, this girl was full of surprise's. She might as damn well been.
Her reflects were quick and graceful but deadly. Just how she dances. He thought. Her eyes were on fire and they seemed to burn everything around them.
She really was a Saint.
Focus. He scolded himself.
You can think about her more later and maybe tell her what you think boy. It was a different voice this time, and it vaguely sounded like his father but he pushed the thought away and kept on fighting.
The heist was over and he looked around for Y/n because usually on mission's like these they would go together and just sit. Sometimes they would talk, sometimes they would just enjoy each other's presences. It was all they needed, just a reminder for them that they we're still alive.
"Did you see Y/n." He said flatly not wanting to seem worried although he really was.
"Ya, I saw her slip away earlier she looked fine." Nina supplied.
He gave her a quick nod and started walking back to the slat. At the least he knew she was fine.
They couldn't find her.
It had been a week and she didn't show up, they were all desperately trying to find the assassin but she was no where to be found. She silent girl was gone, they didn't even know if she was captured or not.
After another week the others had given up saying if their was a lead they would be there. Then Kaz found a note on his desk.
Dear Mr Brekker,
Hello Kaz this is Y/n, so I'm sorry for doing this but it had to be done. I'm not captured no, and I'm safe for now no ones really safe in the barrel. I have many enemies and they will find out you and the Crows are my weakness and I can't have that. You mean so much to me in words I could never describe and it pains me so much to leave knowing - I love you. You are some much stronger than me and a considerably better person then I ever could be although you fight against that statement. You put your Armour down for me and I couldn't do that for you. I'm sorry.
May the stars watch over you,
with love Y/n
Kaz didn't know what to do, Y/n was gone the loop was broken and everything was back to the way it was. He closed his eyes and thought about her eyes - those dancing eyes.
Like for part 2!
Continue - Part 3
Summary: You have been ripped away from your world and tossed into one that is supposed to be pure fiction. You know the stories, how they are supposed to go. Despite your knowledge, you are unable to change the fates of the Fellowship you had grown so close to.
Pairing: Legolas x Modern!Reader
Word Count: 1,957
Warnings/Disclaimers:  Violence, mentions of blood.
A/N: So this one turned into a beast. I wanted to write in some of the Battle of Helm’s Deep to try something different. Hopefully, this worked out, and I didn’t jump all over the place too much.
“Please, reconsider,” Legolas pleaded with you. “What if the binding magic activates, again? If we are separated, you will be defenseless amongst the chaos.”
You chewed on your bottom lip. He had a point, but still...
Squeezing his fingers, you tried your case again. “Legolas, I understand. I truly do. But I want to help you all on the field, not hide away in the caves. In a battle like this... Every person counts.”
Thunder from the impending storm nearly overshadowed the elf’s sigh. He unlaced a hand and cupped your face, stroking the apple of you cheek with his thumb. “There is that endearing determination, again.” Pulling you forward, he laid his forehead on yours. The tenderness of the action made your heart flutter. “I will not be able to convince you, will I?”
“Not this time, no,” you breathed, a ghost of a smile adorning your face.
With a light huff, Legolas pulled away to help you secure chainmail and light armor. If he couldn’t coax you into staying safe inside the caves with the others who were unable to fight, then he would at least ensure you would have some protection. The goal would be for you to stay by him as much as possible in the upcoming battle, but both of you knew that most likely would not happen.
Just as you remembered from second movie, there was a commotion at the gate. With knitted brows, Legolas took your hand to head outside where you met with Aragorn and King Théoden. Before you stood an elven army, Haldir at the forefront looking as stoic and regal as ever. Relief and hope visibly flooded the Ranger’s body. So much so, that he pulled the elf into a hardy embrace.
Out of all the characters you knew of, the Marchwarden was the only one whose fate was up in the air. There was no mention of his death in the books. Then again, he had not led an army to Helm’s Deep. The second film added drama with his appearance and fall. But… Could that change?
This version of the world seemed to meld the two forms of media together. You had been able to meet Tom Bombadil and his wife Goldberry after leaving the Shire which definitely hadn’t happened in the movies. And then there was the time when Frodo had to be rushed to Rivendell after being stabbed with a Morgul blade. That played out like the film with Arwen cradling his weakened form and speeding away on her horse. You had only caught a glimpse of Glorfindel after meeting Elrond. So maybe… Just maybe…
It wasn’t long after Aragorn released Haldir from the awkward hug that orders to get into position were sent out. Squeezing your hand, Legolas motioned for you to join him with Gimli at the higher parapet where you all could use arrows until the enemy tried to clamber up the walls. Lightning cracked the sky as you reached your station, the accompanying thunder booming off the stone. Your elf had placed you in between Gimli and him. Despite the dwarf not knowing of the magic that tethered you, he cared for you like family. It was almost like you had your own bodyguards.
Checking your bow one last time, you noticed Gimli struggling to see over the wall.
“What’s happening out there?”
“Shall I describe it to you?” Legolas turned his head towards the dwarf who met his gaze with a hum and arched brow. “Or would you like me to find you a box?”
And there was that lopsided smirk that partly caused Gimli’s boisterous laugh. It wasn’t often you saw that kind of smile sneak its way onto Legolas’ face. You bit back a chortle just as the rain plummeted down on the battlefield.
Then the chaos began. An arrow was loosed early into the throng of Uruk-hai and orcs, sending them into a frenzy. Between firing attempts and dodging projectiles, you didn’t notice the ladders hitting the walls.
A sweaty, snarling orc head popped over the edge next to you. It was close enough to smell its rancid, putrid breath. Swallowing your shriek, you took the arrow you were about to notch and shoved it into the creature’s throat. A gurgled screech tore from its mouth as it feel backwards off the ladder. What moment of triumph you had was short lived as a new round of orcs quickly followed. You opted for your sword instead, strapping your bow on your back for later.
Tumblr media
You weren’t sure when you ended up on the ground level. It was all a blur. You were fairly sure you had fallen from the stairs at some point, probably in the middle of defending yourself. You at least remembered laying the mud and scrambling to reach your feet to dodge the next blow before lodging your sword in the orc’s side. Another orc rushed towards you, leaving no time to gather your bearings or look for your companions. After barely managing to take down that opponent, an explosion rumbled from the other side of the keep.
Aragorn.
Adrenaline coursed through you, blood pounding in your ears, as you sprinted off in that direction. By the time you reached him, the ranger was mostly back on his feet. You had only been able to make sure he regained his balance just as an Uruk-hai bulldozed its way to you from the newly breached wall. Jumping away from each other to miss its crudely forged blade, Aragorn and you then lunged forward with your swords, the steel penetrating the thick flesh not hidden away by armor. The Uruk-hai fell into muddy water, its black blood nearly indistinguishable from the muck.
Now focused on containing the breach, a handful of soldiers joined you and the ranger. A mess of Uruk-hai and orc were pouring through the opening. It wasn’t going to be enough. Aragorn called for everyone to start falling back. Just as you were headed off, a flash of red caught your eye. Your breath caught in your throat. Haldir was still on the upper level, making sure his soldiers were able to escape, and he was being surrounded rapidly.
Ripping the bow from your back, you shot at some of the orcs rushing up the stairs. You at least nailed a few of them. Your throat constricted lightly as you fired, either from your exhaustion or the magic warning you about interfering again. You weren’t quite sure at this point. Then, Haldir was hit, his entire world thrown off kilter. He spun wildly to defend himself from the onslaught. An Uruk-hai was readying his blade for the Marchwarden.
Magic be damned. You couldn’t just stand there and watch. Not again.
Sucking in a breath, you closed your eyes and raised your bow. Your chest tingled as you pointed in what you thought was the general direction. Flinging your eyes open, you made a last second adjustment to your aim. Just a touch to the left…
You were able to let go of the arrow just enough to let it fly from your fingers when your lungs froze and muscles locked you in place, leaving you unable to do anything but watch the following events. Your arrow hit the Uruk-hai’s bicep - non-fatal, but enough to cause it to falter. It also recalled Haldir’s focus, enabling him to dispose of his attacker.
He turned to find his savior, his eyes widening upon seeing you. At first you thought he was just surprised, but then you noticed movement in your peripheral. The binding magic still had you rooted to the spot and had ramped up. Your breathing was thin and ragged, vision blurring at the edges. You couldn’t even adjust your gaze to see what was approaching you at such a speedy gait.
An arrow whizzed past your face. A squelch sounded as it pierced the flesh of your supposed attacker. As the orc dropped to its knees, the spell chaining you down released. Gasping and choking on a torrent of oxygen, your burning muscles loosened and you fell back on the tower behind you.
Your head was pounding, muffling out the sounds of the battle still taking place. Warm hands encased your face and lifted your gaze. Panicked blue eyes bore into yours.
Legolas breathed your name. “Are you all right?”
“Yes,” you hoarsely replied while nodding, your throat feeling like coarse sandpaper.
The sound of more Uruk-hai and orcs stole your attentions. Legolas let go of your face and snatched up your hand instead, pulling you along with him. The Marchwarden had made it down the stairs and joined you in the retreat. With the three of you, you were able to brute force your way to the inside of the keep.
Tumblr media
Cheers and laughs echoed through the Golden hall. The Battle of Helm’s Deep was over. Saruman had been defeated, locked away in his tower with his lackey Wormtongue. Merry and Pippin were safely back with the company, celebrating the victory with the rest of Rohan. You, however, had chosen to go outside near the beginning of the festivities. There had barely been a moment’s rest between everything. All you really wanted was to decompress.
The cool breeze caressed your skin as you breathed in the clean air, your lips tugged lightly into a smile. You had done it. You had managed to bypass the stupid binding magic that kept you from changing anything. Albeit barely and your muscles still ached from how tightly the curse had wound them, but you still did it.
Leaning on the railing, you looked up at trillions of stars in the night sky. This world was truly beautiful. You could get used to living here if you were never to return to your own. Maybe by then, the curse would ease or end completely.
“Meleth?”
You swung around, facing Legolas who had been standing almost directly behind you.
“Legolas!” you gasped, before sniggering. “You always manage to sneak up on me!”
The elf laughed along with you and joined you at the railing, resting his hand on yours. “Are you well?”
“Never better.” You rested your head on his shoulder. “Thank you, by the way.”
He hummed questioningly while nuzzling your hair.
“Back at the keep. You were right about the binding magic. It did almost get me killed. If it weren’t for you, I may not be here right now.”
Tiny tears began to sting your eyes. This was just as real as your world and you could die just as easily. Legolas and the others had been vital in keeping you breathing. And you just had to try. It was only a fraction of a second that stood between life and death for both Haldir and you. It could have all gone wrong within moments.
Lacing his fingers with yours, he spoke softly, “I will admit, I was terrified when you disappeared. Even Gimli was unable to say what happened. I managed to find you when the air changed again. Seeing you frozen with that orc so close… My heart nearly stopped.” His voice nearly broke at the end.
“I-”
“Just promise me,” he stopped you, turning to where you were facing each other. “Promise me, you will be more careful.”
Gingerly cupping your face with his free hand, his thumb stoked your cheek.
You nodded, “I promise.”
Legolas then kissed your forehead. “Now, you did save the Marchwarden’s life, did you not?” He pulled back, tugging you with him to head inside. “That is added cause for celebration.”
“I guess it is,” you laughed and allowed him to bring you back to the party.
Gentlemen in Distress (request)
Legolas x reader x Fellowship
Requested: Yes! @galileostyles asked “hey i love your writing so much ❤️ could you do a legolas x reader x fellowship where they see you fighting for the first time at the mines of moria and feel bad for underestimating you. thanks ❤️”
Warnings: men being men
A/N: This was harder than I thought! I wrote it a first time last week but then I realized it was too similar to an upcoming chapter of ‘Perfect Secrets’, so I had to delete and start all over again. Enjoy and let me know what you think! I live for comments/reblogs :)
Tumblr media
(I absolutely love this gif. It practically screams testosteron! If I was standing near an Orc at this moment I would take its arm and wound it around my neck myself, and gladly take up the role of damsel in distress. Yes please!)
The fellowship halted before the gates of Moria.  You were relieved to be out of the snow, but dreaded the upcoming journey through Moria. You knew why Gandalf hesitated to go through them, shivering at the thought of what could happen. Legolas’ eyes met yours, but he looked the other way when he saw you staring back. You rolled your eyes, knowing you had to have a serious word with your beloved Elf.
While Gandalf tried to figure out how to crack the password after two unsuccesful attempts, you made your way towards Legolas. It felt like days since you two spoke to each other.  He didn’t look up when you sat down next to him. You sighed, kicking the sand with the heel of your boot.
“Are you still cross with me?” you asked, already knowing the answer. He pursed his lips, as if he was actually considering it. But then he rose to his feet and went to Aragorn and Sam.  “Guess that’s a yes,” you muttered.  Merry and Pippin let themself drop down at your feet. You heard Gandalf yelling at poor Pippin a few moments before and he still looked a bit shaken.  “Still mad at you?” Merry asked. You nodded. “He has every right to be, my lady,” Boromir interrupted. You didn’t know he had been eavesdropping.  “And why is that?” you asked him. “This journey is no place for a woman. When we fight, we do not have the time to protect you as well. He only wants to keep you safe.” You rolled your eyes again. “How many times do I have to say that I can take care of myself? I know how to fight!” “Training or taking part in a battle is not the same thing. If you were mine, I would have tied you to a chair to make sure you didn’t join us.” “That’s why ‘if’ is the keyword, Boromir,” you reminded him.
You could hear Frodo shout something, and the doors to Moria finally opened.  Everyone got to their feet and entered the mines.  Legolas made his way up front with Gandalf and Frodo, while you lingered towards the back of the group. If he wanted to ignore you, so be it. You wouldn’t fret about it anymore. He’ll come around eventually.
The reason of your falling out was quite simple. Legolas had forbidden you to go along on the journey, after you volunteered at the Council of Elrond, following his example. Yes, that’s right. He forbade you. Like you were his property.  Not that he could have convinced you not to go, but you might have listened to reason. But as soon as he said that damned word, your mind was set. You were going, even if that meant you had to end your relationship because of it.  And ever since you left Rivendell with the fellowship, Legolas had given you the cold shoulder. He hardly talked to you and chose to walk alongside everyone but you.  When the Crebain flew over in Eregion, it hadn’t been Legolas who pulled you under the rocks but Aragorn. At that moment you realized he truly was angry at you. What you failed to notice was the worried expression Legolas wore the entire time, cursing himself for not being anywhere near you to pull you to safety. He had thanked Aragorn extensively afterwards. He vowed to himself to never make that mistake again.
When you entered the mines, you could hear Gimli boasting about his cousin and the hospitality they were about to recieve.  You felt the darkness closing in around you, you really didn’t like this place.  “This is no mine, it’s a tombe!” You heard Boromir exclaim. It was only then you realised the cracking sound beneath your feet wasn’t the sound of branches breaking or gravel. You were literally walking on dead bodies.  Legolas pulled an arrow out of a corpse.  “Goblins!” he hissed. He notched an arrow on his bow and instinctively took a few steps towards you. You were too busy trying to avoid stepping on another dead Dwarf that you didn’t notice.
Boromir yelled something about the Gap of Rohan, but a movement outside of the gates caught your attention. Out of the water came a long tentacle, slowly sliding over the ground towards Frodo. Before you could warn him, it grabbed his leg and dragged him out of the mines.  Sam cried to Aragorn for help, alerting everyone else. They all ran outside and tried to cut off the tentacles with their swords. Boromir had been able to free Frodo, but the giant squidlike creature wasn’t giving up very easily.  “Y/N! Go back inside, take the Hobbits with you!” Aragorn yelled.  Seriously? You were not a babysitter! Why did they have such a hard time believing you could hold your own? Aragorn, Gimli and Boromir kept slicing the tentacles, but the creature didn’t back off. Legolas shot arrow after arrow, to no avail. They needed help. “Quick, give me a sword or a dagger, anything!” you yelled, eager to join the fight. “No!” Legolas yelled, shooting an arrow in the squid’s left eye. “Go back into the mines!” “Oh, now you can talk to me!” You felt someone grab your arm, trying to pull you back. You shook them off before you turned around and saw it was Merry, immediately swallowing the insult that had been on your tongue. “Into the mines, hurry!” Gandalf shouted, when he realised this was a fight they could not win. You followed the others back into the mine, barely escaping the falling rocks when the entrance collapsed.
*
After a few days of walking through Moria, you had reached the Chamber of Mazarbul.  Legolas still wasn’t talking to you, now upset you hadn’t listened to him with the squid situation, but you knew he was going to give in at any moment. You had caught him staring multiple times, his hands twitching to take yours when you walked next to each other.  Gimli cried over the loss of Balin. You placed your hand on his shoulder and squeezed lightly. He gave you a grateful nod.  You heard Gandalf reading aloud from a book he’d found, and the words he spoke made your hairs stand up.  A sudden clang sounded through the chamber, and you saw Pippin standing by a well. He had managed to knock the head off a corpse, and the body of the fallen warrior followed seconds later. Gandalf shouted at him for being so careless. “Don’t worry Pippin, he’s under a lot of stress. He doesn’t mean it,” you tried to ease the tension between them. But then the drumbeats had started…  “Orcs!” Boromir and Aragorn ran to the door and barricaded it with anything they could find on the ground.  “They have a cave troll,” Boromir laughed sarcastically.
“Y/N! Take the Hobbits and go to the back of the chamber! Stay behind Gandalf!” Aragorn shouted. “No! I want to fight! You can use my help,” you yelled angrily. You weren’t going to stand helpless at the sidelines again. Not this time. “Meleth nin,” Legolas spoke to you, his jaw clenched. “Could you please listen to us for once? I only want to keep you safe!” He cupped your face with his hands, and kissed your lips. “I could not live with myself if you got hurt.” The Orcs started to hack through the heavy wooden doors with their axes.  “Go!” he growled at you, and you were so surprised at his reaction that you obeyed.
You had gathered the Hobbits and hidden yourself on the second level, behind the pillars to keep you out of sight.  The men had no problem with the Orcs, slaying every single one who crossed the wooden doors. But then a loud growl resounded through the chamber, and the cave troll entered, shattering the remains of the door with his mace. A curse escaped you, this was entirely different than fighting against Orcs. The troll immediately made its way to Legolas. The skin was too thick, Legolas’ arrows bounced off of it.  He barely avoided a hit with the mace, and you started to get worried.
Suddenly the troll spotted you and the Hobbits, and with a screech he ran towards you.  It swung its mace and you grabbed Frodo, yelling at the other Hobbits to go the other way, hoping it would chase you to keep them safe.  Aragorn and Boromir took the chain hanging from its neck and pulled at it with all their might, trying to distract it and buy you and Frodo some time to get yourselves to safety. Legolas and Gimli were too busy with the remaining Orcs. The troll swung its mace at them, and with one powerful blow he threw Boromir across the room into the wall. He landed with a thump on the ground, unconscious.  “No!” you screamed, which caught the creature’s attention. He charged at you again, and you shoved Frodo behind you.  The troll roared in pain when Aragorn threw a spear at him, piercing his back. Aragorn soon suffered the same fate as Boromir. Your eyes went to Boromir, who was slowly regaining his consciousness, to Legolas who was shooting arrows at the troll again in the hope to find a weak spot, and back to Aragorn, who lay lifeless on the ground. They were losing this battle… You couldn’t stay there and do nothing! Even Sam was fighting against the last Orcs with his frying pan of all things, but it was effective. They only had to find a way to defeat the cavetroll. And you knew how.
“Stay here!” you said to Frodo, shoving him in the corner. You jumped of the landing and took two Orc swords from the ground. “Y/N, no!” Legolas cried at you. But you already listened once today, and that was more than enough. You ran around the troll, hacking your swords in its legs. It cried out in pain, and was now really pissed off at you.  “Y/N, Lassie, leave this to us!” Gimli shouted.  “Yes, because you’re doing so great!” you yelled back. The troll swung at you with its mace, and it smacked to the ground right in front of you. Perfect timing, you thought and you jumped on top of it, and nimbly ran up his arm towards his shoulder. It tried to smack you off of him, but you were faster, slicing his shoulder and upper back.  You sat down, and swung your arms around his neck, effectively slicing his throat with both swords. The troll made a gargling sound and fell face forward to the ground. You jumped off his back, twirling the swords in a cocky way.
The whole fellowship looked at you in surprise.  “That was amazing!” Merry and Pippin yelled at you, engulfing you in a hug. “Excellent fighting skills!” Boromir complimented. “I’m sorry we doubted you.” The others couldn’t agree more. Legolas however stayed silent. “Are you okay?” you asked him. He scoffed. “You’re asking me if I’m okay? No, Y/N. I’m not! You didn’t listen and put yourself in danger. I had a dozen heart attacks while you fought that troll!” You stared at the ground. He lifted your chin with his hand, and he pressed his lips against yours. “But you have proven to me that you can stand your ground.” You smiled at that. “Does that mean I can have one of your swords?” “Absolutely not!”
A/N: I’m still not that good with endings, but you get the idea!
