Heyyy i actually really loved the first Throne of Glass book back when the book first came out, I was rereading and rereading it before the 2nd book came out it was so good imo

Assassin girl who loves shopping but then who also has morals? Hot guys in the opposing side? Evil guys idek why they're evil for now (then)? Mystery and magic? Sure! Premise any 17 year old would love!

No my innocent 17yr old mind couldn't comprehend the killing off of the one poc character was totally unnecessary for the drama effect. Not yet by then but my senses were tingling. I was learning.

And then the 2nd one came out and she just began butchering the story. Look I'm not saying I'd be a better writer but the way she just ripped apart the characters that were supposed to have been on the mc's sides in the first book, blaming them for everything, moves on...and then uses the conflicts to basically make them into the bad/gray characters?

....then in the same breath just meets these new characters who's cooler (?) have more powers, and then she keeps unlocking more names (??) and became infinitely more powerful like a pokemon,

...her choices were All Right and the people she left became the Enemies?? It could've been sm more interesting to have the mystery and magic actually have had terrible cause and effect, an actually Good magic system instead of basically plummeting the mc into....magicdom of rightness

This is why HB magic series is so much better

ToG was just....it reeked of something like...a child's story, like if a teenage girl had a writing idea and then became too hormonal to write an actually good story. If we can rename an entire series, I think I wanna rename ToG as 'She Was Always Right'.

I'm not saying we can't have characters make bad decisions but to totally dunk them to make the mc look good?? No accountability on the mc because she's just All That?

And so I began hating on the series. I kept following up on the rest of it tho to see if it gets better. Spoiler, or not, it doesn't.

Then Acotar came out and i heard more things about it. What I picked up on was that the main male character Rhysand kept coming back to the bad guy to just rip him apart even when he's not doing anything to them. Rhysand is also a hot fae (im gonna vomit) similar to Rowan who's basically the Best male main character there is compared to anyone else

And it made me theorize, of how...this may have been venting of some sort by the writer from their own experiences lmao like what if sjm had an actually bad breakup that she keeps using as the punching bag in her mind for the characters that she dislike? just like Chaol that she hates sm to the point she had to cripple him, then make it like all was his fault? And then whoever this guy in Acotar is? Who's basically the placeholder for bad bad guy because now...that seems personal the way her main characters are always right.

I can't be the only one who thinks she's projecting herself into her characters, and not even in a good way

She has a tendency to discard the initial cast and write a whole new one for the MC and this romance/friend group is the bestest and the most powerful and the coolest found family in the WORLDDDD!!!! Years ago there was a supposed interview where she said she names characters she dislikes after her ex boyfriends, but I can't find a source for that so take it with a grain of salt. BUT I do have to say that in ToG she at least tries to fix it, giving Chaol an entire 600 page solo book and allowing Chaol, Dorian and Aelin have their entire "besties who have forgiven each other" conclusion in the final book. And also I didn't mind that retcon all that much bc all of my fave characters showed up thanks to it, and I really disliked Chaol from the get-go so I liked how everyone kept clowning on him bsdjakbaksfk. But it is totally a valid complaint, it is understandable that seeing characters you're interested in be discarded and character assassinated is really annoying.

When did you first start writing?

i’ve been writing pretty much my entire life—making stories since i was like 3 with my grandmother and then transitioned to writing them down pretty soon after. i can’t think of a time in my life where i wasn’t story crafting tbh. but i think if you want a “traditional” start time, wherein i started writing anything that could resemble a Proper wip, then that was when i was 12 in 8th grade lol.

Are the genres/themes you enjoy reading different from the ones you write?

nah, they pretty much go hand in hand. i love reading gothic lit nowadays and a lot of my recent wips have sort of dove in that direction. in general, you can tell what was really intriguing me or what i was reading based on the wips i made at the time. vdtrt was super inspired when i was in my percy jackson era, purple haze (started) when i was into more comic/slapstick kid humor (like captain underpants or diary of a wimpy kid or that one journal book with the girl with the purple pen… i can’t remember what it’s called tho), but then transitioned into what it is now when i started getting more into romantic dramas. etc etc.

Is there an author (or just a fellow writer!) you want to emulate, or one to whom you're often compared?

not one that i’m often compared to, but the great gatsby did a number on me beginning to take prose and description seriously. that book is gorgeous to me (prose wise) and i really think between that and the goth/1700-1900s books that i’ve read really influenced me to put more emphasis on prose than on dialogue, tbh. i used to be a more snazzy, ya style writer—and while there’s nothing wrong with that per se it never sparked as much joy as me nailing an overly complex description does nowadays.

in terms of comparing myself or wanting to emulate someone specifically i don’t really. i think my friends are all amazing writers but i’m pretty self centered when it comes to my writing (both positive and negative connotations besides) so i tend to try and focus being the best version of myself and what i’m trying to write. this isn’t to say i don’t get jealous of how some of my friends write occasionally lol. i just don’t particularly want to be like them when the inner demons aren’t being shit, if that makes sense.

Can you tell me a little about your writing space(s)? (Room, coffee shop, desk, etc.)

tbh, a lot of times i write at work. i tend to finish my tasks early and no one tends to bother me so i kind of write to keep myself from falling asleep. i need silence and no distractions to write lol so its easier for me when im there. so its at my work desk and on my work laptop a lot of the time LMAO. when it’s not there i tend to write on my phone when im out and about or on the bus or whatever—same principles of wanting to be by myself and have no one bug me so i can think lol.

What's your most effective way to muster up some muse?

ngl, and this is gonna sound kinda bad, i kinda force myself to. lmao. like when i write at work esp i kinda just decide “what am i gonna work on today” and i sort of do it. it doesn’t always work mind you, like if i’m not in the mood or im tired or distracted or whatever then i’ll just end up doing something else.

when it comes to making new ideas i don’t force those, they just kinda come. i’m always thinking about stories and ideas tbh so it’s a matter of if i get obsessed with an idea enough to make it into an actual thing.

Did the place(s) you grew up in influence the people and places you write about?

nah with 2 caveats. purple haze specifically is a more fictional retelling (split between 2 mcs) of when i was 18-20 years old. lots of details changed but some of the main bits are shit that happened to me then that really fucked me up at the time that i wanted someplace to work through. as i’ve gotten older and healed from things, or taken to poetry to talk about stuff, emphasis on that wip has taken less precedent bc it doesn’t hurt me as much as it used to. secondly, the town braebrooke, where jenna lives in jenna the reaper is actually named after a street name that drivers always get lost going down near where i grew up. but i don’t tend to like to live in reality and real life. it sucks and it’s boring. stories have always been an escape for me so i don’t like to base things on real life if i can avoid it.

Are there any recurring themes in your writing, and if so, do they surprise you at all?

honestly i would say yes, i have recurring themes in my writing but no they don't really surprise me. i tend to write about things that are important to me and because i'm quite introspective i'm acutely aware of the things that i tend to gravitate towards. fucked up/complicated family dynamics where people care about each other (toxically in many ways) but express it horribly, queerness (as a whole, especially when it comes to the masculine), focus on the individual instead of the whole (in most cases) etc... it's all things i think about quite often. stories are just the vehicles to explore it.

my characters

Would you please tell me about your current favorite character?

because i have so many wips it should be "hard" to sit down and say that this (or these) are my favorite characters. but from every single wip i definitely have a brain rot character, and so from my "main wips" the brain rot characters are:

PARAMOUR (tfog) -> hyacinthus shrapnel, obviously. if i had to pick a favorite character of all my ocs its definitely him. he just DOES SOMETHING for me he is literally every obsession i have rolled up into one beautiful, piece of shit.

TCOL -> this one is more difficult because i have a few contendors bc the cast is ENORMOUS and still growing, but clear brightendale will always be my number one frfr. love of my life. my SON. i birthed him, and i'm obsessed with him. he would be followed closely and tied with lath, guardian of valor as well as MIZDARR in terms of other faves tbh.

VDTRT -> darren de leon, also somewhat obviously. he's my favorite guy. what a lad.

BTAF -> sjaak de witte. the first time i truly understood the appeal of a pathetic wet meow meow character archetype because he is all of that and i'm obsessed with him.

Which of your characters do you think you'd be friends with in real life?

conceptualizing being friends with my ocs is weird to me because i hate percieving myself, and i'm kinda weird about friendships. i think i would be actually genuine friends with either the friend group in vdtrt (consisting of: darren, olice, vlad, moonglend, gabe, demi, marco, and awilda) or the friend group in sixteen candles (consisting of: ranger, nanette, vani, roger, and tucker). but overall, i actually don't tend to make ocs with super similar interests to me a lot of the time and bc of the 'ism i have a hard time making friends?? so like take this with a grain of salt. i'd rather observe my ocs and play with them like dolls frfr.

Which of your characters would you dislike the most if you met them?

there are SEVERAL but if i go against the grain and i don't pick overt villainous characters (like tagetes, madja, silvano, etc)... probably the entire cast of btaf in some way or another tbh, like they just make decisions that while i (the creator) understand and think are fun in a "look at this shit" kind of way they would piss me off in a common sense kind of way. they are all dumb.

Tell me about the process of coming up with of one, all, or any of your characters.

characters kind of take a few basic routes for me. either: i like a preexisting character (or am fascinated by them cuz lbr i don't like twilight lmao) and i want to make 'my own version' in which i have control of them or i can amp up/explore other aspects of their personality with free reign bc they're mine now (ie: darren/percy jackson, sjaak/jacob from twilight, kirsi/magda from helix waltz, etc) OR i come up with a plot and i need a character to fill that plot so they start as a utility, then become their own character as i develop them more. (ie: jenna has a crush on someone in school, so i made chloe mathilders and now she has her own personality. the entirety of donut wip existed bc i wanted to make a horror wip and so they kind of came with the stereotypical horror archetypes; juls as the final girl etc).

it's actually not quite often that i have characters appear directly out of the aether for me to just have to deal with. jenna is honestly a rare exception to this because she is the ONE character i can think of who straight up manifested herself. i think that's why her power is manifestation bc she broke the grain of how i usually come up with ocs so. good on you girly lmao.

Do you notice any recurring themes/traits among your characters?

yeah, i definitely have character types i gravitate towards, especially when it comes to characters who are my faves-though i do try my best to make it so all of my characters feel like distinct people, even though i do have 'archetypes' that i fall into with them. off the top of my head i can think of:

beautiful asshole (always masculine) -> hya, toph, dove, ranger, aenlin

masc femmes/adjacent that should break my neck -> nyseah, beki, piper, erecia, azelie, almine

"healing" characters, aka has never done anything wrong in their life ever -> aloe, karenza, vani, iole

resourceful underdog -> kirsi, julissa, darren, dagmar, nevaeh, chidori, noh, n

god just help them -> sjaak, di, clear, quill, prosper, hue, graves

i could go on but yeah like most of my characters can fall into some kind of archetype of some kind

How do you picture them? (As real people you imagined, as models/actors who exist in real life, as imaginary artwork, as artwork you made or commissioned, anime style, etc)

honestly i don't have much of a visual imagination. the ocs that i can picture, i tend to draw out on my own characters so i picture them mostly in a more... stylized and what i wish i could draw version of my own art. otherwise i don't really picture them visually altogether. but this is mostly bc i can't visualize lmao.

What's your reason for writing?

i love stories, and i love story telling. there isn't really much beyond it. i've been doing it for so long, its literally just the fabric of who i am as a person. my literal first word was book lmao. like i just can't imagine existing without writing or storytelling in some form.

Is there a specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating coming from your readers?

honestly i'm greedy. i want to hear specific reactions and i love when people go into deep depth to react to what i've written and really take in every single detail and then kind of give me a play by play of how they felt and things they liked. it makes me want to write more to get that reaction <3

How do you want to be thought of by those who read your work? (For example: as a literary genius, or as a writer who "gets" the human condition; as a talented worldbuilder, as a role model, etc.)

um. idk if i want to be thought of in a particular way, but i guess i just want my stories to resonate with people. as long as they resonate and i can see how they do/the reaction people have to what i'm written then i'm happy. i think my stories should preceed me, if that makes sense. i don't necessarily need to be remembered for who i am but only for the stories i create. i guess?

What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?

What have you been frequently told your greatest writing strength is by others?

pretty much the same thing. a lot of people tend to like my more poetic and winding prose which makes me happy lol. i've also been told i'm really good at depicting complex emotions.

i love it, i think i'm talented asf. shame that the timeline and the state of the publishing industry won't let it be shown to more people but y'know. i would be lying if i said i didn't think that the only real talent i think i have is writing lol

If you were the last person on earth and knew your writing would never be read by another human, would you still write?

YUUUUUP. writing is for me first and everyone else second. i like sharing bc i like validation, but i would be so hype to just be able to create stories on my own with zero interruption. tbh in that scenario i would probably make up so many stories that i would just die eventually bc i forgot to care for myself.

When you write, are you influenced by what others might enjoy reading, or do you write purely what you enjoy? If it's a mix of the two, which holds the most influence?

if i wrote what others enjoyed, i would be publishable. i only write for my own interest.

-Ok so obviously Klaus is really protective given his many enemies and he would literally do anything to keep you safe.

-Sometimes that can be exhausting since him beeing overprotective will probably end up with him not wanting you to go anywhere without him.

-that also includes : You want to go to a party with your friends? Cool klaus surprisingly has time too. You want to go to a concert of your favorite artist? How nice klaus also really likes the artist and yes he would love to go to this concert with you. You wanna go out to the bakery to get a cake? ,,don't stress yourself love, I will pick it up for you"

-so be prepared that he will pretty much follow you everywhere or makes sure that you don't even leave the house.

-even tho after some time it can start to get annoying you know that he only does that because he loves you sm and is scared to be without you

-let's discuss that "scared" topic a bit more. Klaus isn't really one to show his emotions and feelings. So when he opens up to you, you can be certain that you really are important to him.

-Once you gained his trust, which will be a hard and long way, he will literally talk to you all the time. His enemies tried to do that. His siblings annoyed him with that. He killed that person because of that.

-you will soon learn that he talkes about it sm because he wants to be understood. He wouldn't want you to be afraid of him or mad because of the things he does. He wants you to know his reasoning behind his actions so that you won't leave him.

-but if he does soemthing that really upsets you oh lord he would stop at nothing to earn your forgiveness. From your favorite flowers till a big vacation to your favorite country.

-we all know that klaus is soemone with MUCH pride so he isn't soemone that would normally beg. But if he really messed up then he would even get on his knees for you for sure. After all this man is completely wiped for you.

-He would do just about anything if you asked him too. Backstage tickets for your fav event? This new restaurant that just opend? This island that you really wanna travel to? Please he's klaus freaking mikaelson, he already booked and bought all of that for you.

-which brings us to our next topic. Gifts. Now this man knows how to give gifts. He know all your desires and wishes even tho you might never told him. One sparkling in your eyes when you look at soemthing? Well he knows what to give you to Christmas then.

-he has access to things and clothes you could only dream of. 1000 years of collection pays off. He will always have just the perfect present for you at hand. And he will always be happy to spoil you with them.

-When it comes to spoiling he really knows no end. Just this little things like your favorite flowers or the new book that you wanted will be daily received by you from him. But it can also be much bigger things like the car you always dreamed of. And if you want to go shopping well he his money is yours so don't even think about using your own money.

-how ever even tho all this things sound nice, there are some things that will also be unavoidable when you date nik.

-you will for sure get kidnapped by his enemies from time to time. Yes klaus will always get you back and protect you but still that can leave damage on you. You're in danger of getting anxiety, trust issues, panic attacks and other unpleasant things. After all kidnapping is not soemthing you just forget about, especially not when it happens often and not just once.

-You will get dragged into the Mikaelson family drama. No way around that🤷‍♀️ So believe me when I tell you it will never get bored with them. You will get involved in fights that aren't yours and you will not be able to get out of all of that easily.

-klaus however always tells you that he can send you away till the fight is over or that you will stay at the compound the whole time. He would never be disappointed or mad at you if you choose to not fight. He will always be there for you to comfort you and protect you when you need him and he will never drag you to things you don't want.

-in general he would never be disappointed in you. You broke his car? ,,it's okay my love I'm not mad, I will just buy me a new one" You accidentally failed the task he gave you?,, no need to be angry with yourself sweetheart, we will just do it together tomorrow" God you could even lose the damn white oak stake and he still wouldn't be really angry at you. Sure he would be a bit tensed and mad but he would never let that out on you.

- klaus is also surprisingly willing to cuddle with you. He will always want to make sure that you are warm, safe and comfortable. And where is a better place for that than in his arms?

-it doesn't matter if he's spooning you, if you lay your head on his chest or if you are fully on top of him as long as he can hold you in some way. Soemtimes if he had a bad day or soemthing he would even be the one coming to you for cuddles and not you coming to him. But psst don't tell anyone🤫

-In general klaus is really needy when if comes to your touch and attention. He can't stand when you even look at someone else. Poor boy wants to feel loved cause he never felt that before.

-he will always have a hand on you. Either its him holding your hand. Or his hand is on your tight. Or he will also often put his hand on the small of you back or around your hips.

-and if someone even dares to touch you or look at you the wrong way. Oh God stand that person by. He will probably be dead by night.

-all and all klaus is a really protective boyfriend who would stop a nothing for you. He will always shower you with love and be there for you when you need him the most.

"when is your shift over?" He asked, rushing. "Uh- i- why?" He glared "just answer the question!!" You threw the towel in your hand over your shoulder "well I just finished up, actually. Now, you answer my question."

"okay, I will, go do whatever it is you have to do and come outside." You rolled your eyes but didn't argue. Quickly changing out of you uniform and locking the shop you turned to stare at Han "so? Wanna tell me what's going on?" He pulled your wrist walking away "it's seungmin. We have things to do and he has been in his own little world for the best couple of days. We tried EVERYTHING but he was too scared to actually talk to you." He rumbled on as you turned a corner.

"what? Why would he be scared to talk to me? And I can walk on my own thanks" you pulled your arm away and kept speed walking by him

"if you figure that out, let me know" great. Had you done something wrong to upset him? Or said anything? You couldn't think about anything that had gone wrong. Han's hand waving Infront of your face pulled you back to reality. You stood Infront of a big building which you assumed to be the company building he had told you about.(seungmin in the buildingggg)

"okay, I'm assuming he told you?" You nodded, seungmin had told you about who he is and what he does. He'd told you he was glad you liked him for who he was and not for his fame.

Han led you inside and you made a stop at a practice room to introduce yourself to the other members of seungmin's group. Then Han took you to yet ANOTHER practice room where seungmin had been spending his time every day after practice.

"he's in there. If I come with he'll cuss me out so, good luck" he spoke partially sarcastically, patting your shoulder and basically booking it down the hall you guys came from.

Confused you knocked on the door. "Go away jisung!" You recognised seungmin's voice. You pushed the door open slowly "i said go a-" he spun around in his chair quickly, his eyes widening when he saw you "still want me to go away?"

He shook his head quickly and stood up "what are you even doing here?!" He was standing right in front of you by the end of his sentence "Han picked me up when my shift ended" you explained and his expression darkened "what did he tell you.?"

You crossed your arms and tilted your head "wanna tell me why you're so scared to talk to me?" You asked and his face turned all kinds of shades of red "did I do or say something to upset you Maybe? You could've told me-" he cut you off panicked "no no no! You didn't do anything it's not you-! It's. Me"

"what? What do you mean it's you!" He groaned and moved towards the wall opposite you, sliding down with you by his side "okay. Well, I thought that, maybe you wanted to take it slow and that maybe I would scare you away and-" now it was your turn to cut him off "why would you scare me away?.. Min?" He leaned his head back on the wall mumbling something "what?" He closed his eyes a frustrated groan leaving his lips once again.

"just tell me-" and he did. Leaning towards you and catching your lips with his, kissing you quickly yet softly, as if you were going to break any second. It took you some time to register the action, but once you did he was already pulling away and apologising, you shook your head and pulled him back in for another just as soft kiss.

"that explains, some of it" you joked as you broke apart "I just thought that, you'd think I was going too fast, but whenever I saw you, kissing you was all I could think about" you chuckled at him and pecked his cheek "you should've. Distancing yourself from me only made it worse" you admitted "I thought I'd done something" he shook his head, hugging you "I'm sorry..."

Choromatsu

Ever the straightman, he finds that lifestyle something he could never imagine himself being a part of.

Yet when the offer comes to him - Choromatsu realizes he doesn't want to say no. There's too many benefits on his end, too much good that could come out of having his hobbies and NEET lifestyle funded for him.

He prefers to keep whether there are physical relations or not on the low. Very much treats it transactional outside of him and his sugar parent.

Ichimatsu

Doesn't entertain the concept in the slightest...until...

He miraculously ends up in a more escort-ish kind of situation. A much, much older, wealthy woman who honestly just wants company. She has a few cats and an old dog, which Ichimatsu helps her take care of. Perhaps even take walks around the park with her or go grocery shopping. And in return - she pays him handsomely for his time. No sex involved, just honest companionship.

He ends up treating it completely normal, has no problem telling her he loves her even, because deep down, he does. They end up bonding tremendously in a non-romantic way.

ok i am curious about rex and i think you might've mentioned it before: how has her gender developed throughout their story, especially in meeting imtura and other orcs, etc? how was their gender perceived with humans vs later on and how did it affect her :3

OOO fun question, thank u!! I ended up rambling really bad but feel kinda bad answering an ask with a wall of text, so I'll give the tl;dr and put the rest under the cut hhaha

I'm not gonna interchange pronouns for the whole thing like I usually do for Rex LOL cause it's easier 4 me and also she wouldnt gaf

Rex was raised as a boy cause her adoptive parents couldn't tell if she was a boy or a girl when she was found. (I hc that all orcs have the same primary sex characteristics) Rex is made aware of this as a child but doesn't really have her 'oh wait im not just a guy im also a girl' moment when she starts being mistaken for a girl sometimes in her mid teens, after she started growing out her hair and wearing make-up and stuff because she liked it on her girlfriends.

Rex only really told those she's close to, but it's no secret either, she's just very indifferent about what pronouns and stuff people use for her so if people catch on that's nice, but if they don't it's whatever.

The only thing Rex is really 'strict' about is that she's Kade's brother and not his sister.

In Riverbend she never really changed her presentation, a mix of being hesitant to do this and just not really feeling the need to.

I'm still figuring out what I want my take on orcs to be like + feel like I need to replay the books first because I want to keep canon stuff in mind too, but don't think Rex is necessarily gonna change her perception on her gender identity once she interacts more with other orcs. But idk for sure yet! Because she does want to learn all about the culture and this will impact her and in the end gender is cultural too. (but also it's a thing that Rex does feel like an outcast among the orcs and doesn't fully fit into their culture + just generally lots of complicated feelings)

Things that do kinda apply tho: Imtura and Tyril are her first romantic relationships she had since figuring out her identity and there's something affirming about the way her relationships with them are vs the relationships she had with humans in Riverbend.

And also through Imtura + in shops on Flotilla she gets the chance to try on more feminine clothes that fit her frame and that way she gets to figure out her style more and does start branching out with clothes.

Because of the whole 'male orcs can get pregnant too'-thing I imagine the orcs all have like basically the same genitals and the difference between male and female orcs are secondary sex characteristics + some subtle differences that are present from birth (like horn color or something?). And humans aren’t widely educated on how to determine the sex of young orcs. (And even get it wrong often for adult orcs if they don’t present in a way that makes it easy to tell for humans)

When Rex and Kade were found, there were no other orcs that lived in Riverbend and so Rex’ parents just guessed she was a boy and decided to raise her like that. I imagine humans also just kinda view orcs as inherently more masculine so I think the thought process was also sorta like a boy would fit better or make her feel a little less like an outcast in the future? It was always sorta approached as like ‘Rex might feel differently in the future though’, and was sat down at around age 10 by her adoptive mom and was basically told ‘This is what we did when we found you but you get to decide what you are + the way your body changes the coming years might not match what you expect based off other boys’ and Rex was like ‘Ok.. I'm gonna throw big rocks into the lake now.’ (This feels so funny because it feels v like   modern accepting mom but I just didn’t really wanna go with anything like    she was also forced into being a manly man or whatever and it doesn’t feel v out of place because people seem chill with queer relationships in universe too)

As a child Rex was ‘a typical boy’ in a lot of ways, but she also really enjoyed playing with dolls and taking up feminine roles when playing pretend with other kids and stuff like that. 

I think due to being an orc she was at times perceived as more masculine than she really is? Like orcs just possessing a lot of qualities that are considered masculine by humans. (Like I always imagine a lot of humans would consider Imtura masculine while other orcs think she's pretty feminine) Rex never cared about being perceived as a man, like she’s just indifferent about it. Never like  let anything hold her back because it would make her seem effeminate or something like that. She also always felt more similar to tomboys than to boys.

When Rex went thru puberty and started getting a lot bigger she got real popular with The Girls and some boys in the village (attention she enjoyed lol). I think partly inspired by her girlfriends she also started experimenting more with her appearance, growing her hair out, wearing make-up and wearing jewelry whenever she wasn’t working. 

I think especially once she had long hair travelers passing through town would sometimes mistake her for a woman rather than a guy like everyone in town. Which she found she didn’t mind, she actually liked it. Felt important tho she doesn’t really understand why. Thinks it over for a while and basically decides to tell those closest to her that she figured out that she enjoys being referred to as a woman but also that she’s pretty indifferent about it all so like ‘do with that info what you want’. 

She insists that she’s still Kade’s brother tho, like she doesn’t want that to change. Kade often introduces her to new people like ‘This is my brother, her name is Rex.’ Rex doesn’t like turning it into a big deal or having a whole convo about gender, she’s always like  'dw about it, just be respectful'. She didn’t really start dressing differently after ‘coming out’. Genuinely doesn’t care about how people gender her or whatever, all that was important to her was that those closest to her knew. 

So that’s where she’s at when the story starts, like I’m not sure if it really ended up changing much after. I think Imtura (and Tyril) influenced it more in a way of like, Rex experiencing her first relationships after figuring herself out more + having relationships where she wasn’t expected to be ‘the man’ or whatever. And I think there was something affirming about that I guess? But also that feels like kinda one of those things where gender and being an orc intersect or sth?

I still haven’t really made up my mind about the whole orcs + gender stuff, especially because I’m planning to replay the series soon and will catch up with the lore then lol. I wish I had more to say haha 😭.

I was gonna start rambling about my ideas n shit so far but then I started rly derailing because it’s not really about Rex anymore, so I’ll leave it for another post, perhaps once I’ve replayed the books. Like when I try rn I find myself going back n forth a lot like ‘oh but that makes no sense, why would they do this or that? why would they be like that though..’ 

I honestly don’t think it’ll change anything for Rex though, like she’s already done all the self discovery when it comes to gender when she lived in Riverbend (tho I definitely think it would've been interesting if it hadn't been that way LOL but yeah). And it’s more gonna be like   general culture stuff that’s gonna have her feel all sorts of ways (identity crisis, disappointment that she still feels like an outcast, shame that she’s an orc but feels like she doesn’t know how to be an orc, the whole ‘human in an orc body’-thing but also healing + connecting to people she’s biologically related to who can tell her about her mom)

I think through Imtura letting her try on clothes + in shops on Flotilla Rex gets to try on more feminine clothes that fit her frame for the first time ever and that’s how she starts figuring out/expanding her style more. Like I always imagined her mom offering to make her a dress, but Rex declining because she’s not sure if she’ll like it and then all that time and fabric would’ve been wasted. I think Rex especially loves dresses and stuff for like special occasions, like the circumstances aside, she’s excited to dress up for that ball in undermount and there’s definitely something gender affirming about it.

- Wednesday is the new vet in town, begrudgingly because it was her third degree (she's a child prodigy aight) and she liked animals (preferably dead tho) and Enid is your next door werewolf.

- Wednesday is kidnapped and uses the dog sound (from that scene with the choir) and Enid is feral and Wednesday is a blushing mess when she sees her wolf tear them to pieces.

- everytime they fight Wednesday brings up yoko and Enid teases her. after finding out, yoko is mysteriously in the infirmary. garlic bread, again. damn it, enid.

- coffee shop au. Enid is your bubbly barista and stands for women helping women so when an incredibly attractive maybe psychotic girl goes up the counter followed by a dull looking guy *coughs* she introduces you as her girlfriend cause why the fuck not?

*Understanding the situation - she knew reading fanfiction until 5 a.m. would come in handy someday - she put on her best frown and said, "I'd appreciate if you stayed away from my girlfriend," what was his name again? "dude."

- 5 times +1 except it's 5 times Wednesday crashes Enid's date after they break up and one time she doesn't (happy ending obviously).

- enid disappears during her birthday, yoko said it was a normal occurrence. Wednesday wants to know why.

- Wednesday gets a secret admirer except Enid accidentally send a threatening note instead of a love declaration (lol Wednesday would be so down for that tho).

- near death situation where enid vs Tyler rematch and Wednesday is scared shitless at the thought that Enid could be dead and so much angst and the build up with 'if you die, I will burn this realm and everyone in it as I live and suffer through the years crying out your name so the world will never forget you'

- enid and Wednesday fluff. that's it

- 50k-100k slow burn fic where Wednesday has an internal struggle on whether she is actually deserving of Enid despite being an Addams and Enid thinking her best friend/crush is in love with someone else.
