Do you have any recommendations for library or book themed ttrpgs?
THEME: Library / Book Themed TTRPGS
Hello there! Most of the games I found this time around were solo games, although I think there's one or two that can be played multiplayer. Without further ado, let the recommendations begin!
The Librarian's Apprentice, by Almost Bedtime Theater.
Infinite, ever-shifting, and sometimes dangerous, the Library exists in the space between worlds and times. Among the many who call it home are the Librarians, and only those who truly understand it may join their ranks. You seek to do so.
The path of a Librarian’s apprentice is a long one. Your current task is designed to test your skills at traversing the Library and finding information. Retrieve the six documents requested by your Librarian before the day is out and you will have completed one more step on your journey.
Good luck.
Using the Firelights System, by Fari RPGs, The Librarian's Apprentice contains three brochures, called volumes. Volume I is the game rules & character creation. Volume II contains the bestiary, as well as the oracle for locations, events & secrets. Volume III has more oracles, this time for NPCs.
As a solo journaling game, this is a story you can follow at your own pace, using dice and a deck of cards to generate new and unexpected moments that your character will have to navigate. If you love the limitless feeling of inter-dimensional libraries, you might like The Librarian's Apprentice.
The Sealed Library, by Sealed Library.
“How DARE you and the rest of your barbarians set fire to my library? Play conqueror all you want, Mighty Caesar! Rape, murder, pillage thousands, even millions of human beings! But neither you nor any other barbarian has the right to destroy one human thought!” ― Sidney Buchman
The Sealed Library is a solo journaling RPG played with a deck of cards, a tumbling block tower and a notebook/scroll.
You are the sole surviving librarian of the greatest library in history. It sits in the centre of culture for an ancient land, now fallen to invaders. They pillage and raze.
The library has been barricaded and you are under siege. What important texts can you move down into the vaults and seal away forever before the barricade breaks?
What will future generations discover inside the Sealed Library?
The Sealed Library is not designed to have a happy ending. Wretched & Alone games rarely are. No, what you play to find out is instead how your ending arrives; will it arrive in a sudden, painful attack? Or in a slow, painful wasting away as the invaders whittle away at your resources? If you play with a Jenga tower, you'll likely meet the first kind of end; if you just play with some dice and a deck of cards, you'll likely meet the second.
Reference Hopping, by Calenmir's RPGs.
"Reference Hopping" is a solo journaling one-page RPG where you play as an intern of the Multiversal Library Network. Since today's most urgent tasks are distributed across 15 different branch locations, you'll need to travel between them via reference hopping.
To play this game, you need a very specific book - a dictionary. You use word association to direct your travel. In order to hit specific targets, you need to find connections from some specific words provided in a list; each target word includes a description of the location's architecture, and task your librarian character is expected to accomplish, If you're a big fan of wordplay or word games, you might like this one.
Duelists of the Pages, by StarshineScribbles.
Duelists Of The Pages is a game where you use your books to create duelists. And then pit these duelists against each other!
This game is suitable for 2 or more players. And each player only needs a book and a bookmark to play.
Players pick a book and swap bookmarks. The other player fills in the { } with numbers and returns the bookmark to its original owner. The player then picks a page from their book and uses the numbers given to generate their duelist.
Players then set their duelists against each other! Either in a tournament or round-robin format!
A great little game to play with another person, and you get a bookmark out of it! It looks like you can play this with just two people, but you can increase the size of the party if you like!
Arcanacademia, by Ostrichmonkey Games @ostrichmonkey-games
Arcanademia is a no frills Forged in the Dark game where you play as a member of a Department at a Magical University. You and your colleagues will embark on all manner of magical hijinks on your journey to the top.
Sabotage rivals' projects, wrangle magical mishaps, court favor with the eldritch Administration, and maybe get some grading done.
Competition is fierce and weird and it takes everything you’ve got to get the funding and resources you really deserve.
Arcanacademia isn't solely library-focused, but being about academia, I have a feeling you'll be hitting the books fairly regularly. You can play anyone from an undergraduate student to a tenured professor; with unique abilities attached to each class. Since the game advertises itself as no-frills, I'm assuming you create the lore yourself. I think the game is still on sale, so now is a great time to check it out!
Ex Libris, by Argyx Games.
EX LIBRIS is a solo roleplaying game that lets you experience an adventure by following the course of a novel from your bookshelf. Randomly generate a Hero from the text, then play through a series of scenes as you progress to the end of the book!
Ex Libris uses a novel of your choice to set up a character by using words found in the book to create a character, and dice rolls to refer to which pages you'll end up flipping to next. I'm personally curious about whether or not you could switch up the dice or add extra ones for a larger book.
The instructions for this game are fairly short and sweet. I think Ex Libris is a good option for someone who only needs a little bit of guidance to let their imagination soar.
The Bookshelf, by Lin Codega.
The Bookshelf is a game about taking the time to organize your books, remember their value, and rewrite a story based on the stories you have already created. If you have toys, photos, or magazines, you think about different merits and continue the narrative.
At the end of your bookshelf you can choose to write another part of the story, put your writing aside, or pass The Bookshelf --and your own story--along to a friend. Perhaps they will add to your story or write a new one themselves.
Half roleplaying game, half meditation exercise, The Bookshelf allows you to re-explore your book collection and pick out little tidbits. You can also use other parts of your bookshelf; little tchochkes, photographs, newspapers.. to flesh out the story or poem that you create as you go.
Also check out…
The Third Library, a micro-setting by ehronlime.
The Breathing, by Fistful of Crits.
If you like what I do and want to leave a tip, you can check out my Ko-Fi!

Some Minecraft hand comparisons using my Ancient Ruins designs.
This isn’t a linear lineup, there’s no particular order.
“Testificate” stands for both villagers and Illagers, but depending on the Illager rank they do have averaging body types that might differ from the model. Villagers usually have more meat on their bones because they live pretty sustainable and do most of the physical labour themselves, which means they often build more muscle, same with pillagers.
Might do one with face shots as well, but I’m not too sure. Always get a little too frustrated (perfectionism) when it comes to actually finishing faces.
More:
Spoke about this before already but Neo Artisans are based on a visual mix between ancient artisan and ancient villager. It was meant to be a PR thing.
Don’t have much to say about the piglin, they have two ball jointed thumbs, only have 2 joints per finger of which the nail replaces the upper half. (Sorry I do not have the English vocabulary for this)
Ancient artisans were lazy and made allays and golem do all the heavy lifting so especially after all their fields withered they started looking like starving artists housed in their mothers basement, which all things considered isn’t that far from canon. Only thing they still manually practiced were indulging in creative efforts and fighting (sometimes). They were also old and greedy so I just went with whatever. Hosts made them tall.
Endermen don’t really have a physical form because they kinda just glitch through people’s visions due to inter dimensional space-time warping but anything that looks like a mix between a radiation poisoning victim in a zombie apocalypse game, some distorted divine abomination and a human thrown through a black hole spaghettification stretcher should work.

While Mickey Mouse's earliest incarnation is in the public domain, not all of his beloved traits and design features are available for legal use! Let's go over some fair use #fails surrounding the character to learn more
Infestation 88
Pros: no pupils, no gloves, nips out, top hat: this is a high-tier non-infringing Mickey Mouse!
Cons: Mickey Mouse didn't start laying egg pods in space stations until 1939, so that may be infringing. Curiously unexplained number 88 probably nothing to worry about

Farfour the Mouse
Pros: agrees with Walt Disney on certain issues
Cons: Mickey did not gain his gloves until 1929 and his pupils until 1938, making this infringing
Mickey & Minnie Mouse Babies Missing Abducted Lethal Injection! Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cartoons Full
Pros: on-brand for early Mickey's tendency towards animal abuse and inter-person violence
Cons: Joker Mickey wasn't introduced until 1947 and didn't poison any children until the "banned" episode of House of Mouse
Abandoned by Disney
Pros: Hard to recognize status of pupils in photo-negative state
Cons: Disney didn't start making "evil suits" until 1971, when they started stockpiling them in the Utilidors "just in case"

replaying super paper mario, sporadic thoughts post-chapter 2:
very easy so far--& although ttyd was also easy, spm's gameplay is sadly substantially less rich thab ttyd's was
having said that the game design in spm is! unrelentingly charming!! the use of platforming as a framework for a varied stream of stage styles (straightforward levels, dungeons, towns, the entire 2-3 Situation) is creative in a way that imo predicts the sort of things the mario maker community later ended up making. chapter 2's set pieces in particular are extremely quirky (the rooms with traps, the rubee thing, the mazelike basement, the merlee game show lmao)
few platformers have boss fights that feel like genuine Combat, so that's pretty cool
i will confess that as a First Dungeon, yold ruins doesnt have half the sauce of hooktail castle--it's much more linear in layout, with far less of that zelda-y "explore & comprehend the space" principle that made ttyd's dungeons hit
in a similar vein, it's kind of crazy how tippi has like a fraction of the personality that goombella had. it's a bit sad for the character doing the vast majority of the talking to just.... not really have any opinions on anything
the momentum of the chapters likewise means very few npcs ever get to stick out. like, even the "first town crotchety old mayor" character was a total one-and-done, one dialogue and you never have a reason to speak to him again (mostly just speaks to the game structure, which is as mentioned a bold enough exercise that i feel i cant really fault it for that)
bringing up a menu to use items In A Platforming Context is not at all natural to me, so im finding myself just not really using them
this game is a masterclass in visual design imo. the npcs & enemies & pixls being made of primitives that reconfigure themselves into different shapes really elevates the interplay of 2d & 3d, the backgrounds/environments are extremely aesthetically satisfying (the Mathmosphere in lineland, the optical illusion in the sky in gloam valley, all of castle bleck), & i love how the constant "digital/tech" motif (eg the "dragging selection boxes to flip/teleport", the trees & shrubs looking like something youd make in ms paint, etc) is an ingenious progression of paper mario's core aesthetic design
dimentio is so fun
i ADOOOORE nastasia
the inter-chapter dialogue flashbacks are surprisingly earnest? for such a tongue-in-cheek game where almost every line of dialogue contains a joke of some kind, those exchanges feel humourless & sincere. that probably contributes to the Space the game occupies in all of our memories lol
likewise it was really interesting how peach's "escape" sequence after chapter 1 was (while, again, still extremely sardonic) aesthetically & narratively framed with such a sense of Hopelessness. that's not to say like "woahh this mario game is 10x darker than you thought!!!!", more that it's just not a space the series commonly ventures into
the Ancients stuff is being leaned into extremely hard lol. ttyd mostly teases at that kind of "mysterious rpg lore" thing peripherally (the riddle tower inscriptions, grifty, etc) so it's interesting how spm puts it front & centre in contrast, without ever sacrificing the sense of mystique
this game really highlights how interesting the wiimote is as a controller--pressing the A button while holding it sideways (ie removing your left thumb from the direction input to press a button) is something that i cant think of any other controller doing, & it projects onto that button a really interesting sense of, like, Valence
it's the kind of game that seems to beg for one of thsoe posts like "things that ACTUALLY HAPPEN in _____"

"In this artist's rendition, the Galileo spacecraft is being boosted into its inter-planetary trajectory by the Inertial Upper Stage (IUS) rocket. The Space Shuttle Atlantis, which is scheduled to take Galileo and the IUS from Earth's surface into space, is depicted against the curve of Earth. Galileo will be placed on a trajectory to Venus, from which it will return to Earth at higher velocity and then gain still more energy in two gravity-assist passes, until it has enough velocity to reach Jupiter. Passing Venus, it will take scientific data using instruments designed for observing Jupiter; later, it will make measurements at Earth and the moon, crossing above the moon's north pole in the second pass. Between the two Earth passes, it will edge into the asteroid belt, beyond Mars' orbit; there, the first close-up observation of an asteroid is planned. Crossing the belt later, another asteroid flyby is possible."

xiao zhan elle september issue cover story Q&A
ELLE: During this rest period, do you think about things that happened on the set?
Xiao Zhan: Of course, I remember a few days after the filming was finished, I had a dream that we were still filming, and the director and I were still discussing how to say that word? How to handle that scene?
ELLE: Do you actually miss the atmosphere on the set?
Xiao Zhan: I like it very much, because I like the feeling of everyone creating together and working together to get something done.
ELLE: When you first entered the entertainment industry and your popularity grew rapidly, you said that it felt a bit unreal and magical, but now you seem to be quite relaxed. How did this change happen?
Xiao Zhan: Rather than saying it’s unreal or magical, after so many years I feel that I haven’t had time to adapt to the fast pace at that time, so when I wake up from sleep, where am I today? What am I doing? I think it’s a process, just like when you first enter the workplace, everyone is very excited, "I’m here to work, please take good care of me", "I’m here, everyone get out of the way", "I can do it, I can do it". (Laughs) But after experiencing a lot of things, I feel that everything needs to be planned for the long term.
ELLE: In several interviews you mentioned that you like to play roles that "can convey energy". Why do you have such a preference?
Xiao Zhan: Because I think it is the life of the character. The kind of energy I am talking about is not just a single positive energy in the general sense. I mean the nutrition that can be subtle and silent. I believe that every character has a complete story line in his heart. This is what I like very much. As long as you dig deep, you can move people. I don’t like to call the villain a "villain", as if it is defined as a bad character from the beginning, but it is not. He may have his own difficulties.
ELLE: It sounds like “transmitting energy” is just a general term. Is it actually about understanding different people through performance?
Xiao Zhan: Yes, if we break it down to each character, they all convey different things. But if we say they are “good guys” or “bad guys”, I think that’s meaningless.
ELLE: So do you think acting is a form of communication?
Xiao Zhan: Yes, you can say that. I think it’s great to say that (acting) is a bridge to communicate with the audience. Just like when a play is broadcast, I will read some of the audience’s comments and impressions, and feel that they have a rich feeling about the work. When I see some comments that are exactly the same as my thoughts when filming, I feel very magical, as if this bridge is really connected. We don’t know each other in life, and we haven’t communicated, but he suddenly got my thoughts at the time, and I felt that, oh, acting is a very beautiful and magical thing.
ELLE: Do you watch some science fiction movies, TV shows, and literary works?
Xiao Zhan: Yes, I used to like watching "The Three-Body Problem". I have watched some science fiction movies recently, the American TV series "The Stars", and recently I am watching "The Replica". They are all about infinite flow and parallel time and space. Because I think there may really be parallel time and space. Every choice you make will split into a different parallel time and space.
ELLE: Do you imagine Xiao Zhan in a parallel universe?
Xiao Zhan: I really wonder, for example, is he still an actor? Maybe, is he still filming now? Is he still singing now? Or is he still a designer? Is he working for others or is he his own boss? (Laughs) Really, I really wonder.
ELLE: What do you think the future will be like?
Xiao Zhan: Wow, I think the world might return to its original state at that time, and the world might become a better place, and people would return to the most basic communication with each other.
ELLE: This is very interesting. Why do you think so?
Xiao Zhan: Anyway, at least now I am a little disgusted with the ubiquitous Internet. When we were young, when there were no mobile phones, we would chat while eating, and we would call our friends downstairs to play hide-and-seek and various games. I think that time was very precious.
ELLE: Will the profession of actor still exist by then?
Xiao Zhan: I think there will be. I believe that as long as life goes on, drama will continue. Because everyone needs an output, needs emotional resonance and sustenance, whether it is images or sounds. So I think that even if the world is destroyed, as long as there are still people, drama will definitely exist.
-END.

4e: Who Wants What Weapon Groups?
One of the design choices in the structure of 4th edition Dungeons & Dragons is the way that weapons are given categorical signifiers that let you treat them in shared, mechanically related ways. An axe can be just an axe, but there are some axes that are also hammers, and there are some light blades that are also capable of being maces. This category system meant that the game could have character options that looked at those categories and responded to them.
Basically, the game could say ‘hey, rogues use these weapons that are small, and get to do more with them,’ for example.
It didn’t wind up doing that, which is pretty funny, but still.
What did these groups do? And when you’re building a world, do you want to consider what these groups encourage, and how you can expand on them to create more weapons that may have inter-related groups and categories? Do you want a light blade axe in your world? What about an flail hammer? It’s worth understanding what the groups are, and of course… who needs help.
Light Blades and Heavy Blades
The obvious princex of the pilex. Without any kind of support, just the weapons as they are, the light and heavy blades are the best in show, at their size. This is because they all, consistently, have the biggest damage dice and a +3 proficiency bonus to hit at that size.
The math of it is a little complicated, but broadly speaking, 4th edition attacks and damage are all scaled based on the idea that you’re hitting a little bit more often than half the time. You can dedicate resources to hitting more reliably, and you should, because hitting more often represents an outsized improvement on the amount of damage you’re doing or the reliability of the effects you’re doing.
To that end, a +3 proficiency bonus, where most things have a +2 proficiency bonus, is an immense increase in your overall damage output, over time. If you’re going to miss on eight numbers, then a +1 to hit means you miss on seven numbers. Big increase in your overall damage over time.
This is without even looking at the support feats for these categories, where it turns out the support is also, again, really good. Heavy blades are really desireable if you have cool at-will powers, and a lot of defenders can do cute tricks with at-will powers that do control things as opportunity attacks.
You don’t need to do anything for these.
Maces and Hammers
A slightly weaker space but they have their supporters for their reasons. Maces, typically, are just worse hammers, and that’s because maces are ostensibly things that are easy to use. This is very funny if you’ve ever interacted with SCA members because things you can do with hammers, you can usually do with maces, and maces are often capable of more delicate things because their striking surface isn’t oriented downwards.
Some classes get benefits with hammers and maces; rogues and wardens have use for the mace, which can be a niche for the weapon to live in, which is still a little strange. Some clerics use maces because of an ideological connection to a god, but there’s no good reason to do so – it’s almost always worth it to get proficient with a weapon that’s actually good, or just use implements. If you’re using a weapon it’s worth spending the resources to use a good one, right?
The truly titanic reason to go hammers by the end of the game is Hammer Rhythm, which is an feat that means even when you miss, you still do Constitution Mod damage to your target. When you do the long-term view of damage in the game system, this power is absolutely crackers, because it means a lot of time when you do 0 damage (a little under half the time, remember), you’re now doing More Than 0 Damage. This is also a ‘delete this’ power for minions. Note that it’s melee attacks, not close powers, so it’s tricky to make a big sweeping attack that guarantees blowing things apart even with Hammer Rhythm’s auto-hit.
Not impossible mind you.
Just tricky.
Hammer Rhythm works with maces too, despite the name, but… like… you’d probably want to be doing Hammers with it, because hammers are just better. They do more damage, after all.
Flails
The flail is a bit of a weird orphan child because in a system that ostensibly wants to be somewhat realistic, or at least uses the figleaf excuse of realism to justify what it’s doing, flails aren’t very common weapons? Not unheard of, there are obviously some examples but what I’ve read of the flail indicates that it’s not even very sure it was ever used as a military weapon by actual people who fought for purpose.
Still, nonetheless, flails are here and that’s good because regardless of their viability as a military project, they are also extremely cool weapons; chains are neat and using things with long floopy chains on them looks cool, and I don’t really care if it was only a thing peasants did for sport with their threshing equipment. The nature of the chain as a thing you can use to express power in a narrative is pretty neat, and that’s why it’s good that D&D 4th edition has a flail weapon category.
Of course, that category is a bit weird, most notably because it has weapon categories like the bolas, double flails, spiked chain, triple-headed flail and net. This is a pretty broad characterisation and yet, despite that, some flails have that very important +3 proficiency bonus to attack rolls.
Flail support has an exciting start but drops off pretty much immediately afterwards. Flail expertise lets you turn slides into prones, and in a game with forced movement being important, having tools for limiting movement that is good. Especially neat is that dragging flail and flail expertise work together, to let you prone someone with your slides and slide someone with your prones.
Then that’s where you more or less are done picking up flail weapon support. Bit of a shame, but such is life. Flails are good if you have a specific vision of forced movement and want the movement to be the most important thing you do, then spend the rest of your build picking up other things. It’s a little bit like the spear package, but all tightly wrapped up, with nowhere to go.
Spears and Polearms
I’ve repeated the canard that the most stolen (in character optimisation) option in 4th edition D&D is the way that every single build guide would recommend multiclassing fighter to take to polearm support in the vein of feats like Polearm Momentum. This is a reasonbly true thing, within that context, because the effects are really good and all they need to interact with is ‘wanting to hit people and limit where they go.’ For all defenders, the polearm malarkey is good, and a number of melee damage strikers can benefit from it. Not only that, but thanks to the presence of Druids and Shamans using spears, there are also a controller and defender build that might want to decide to branch out into taking this option.
It is feat and ability score intensive; you have a limit on what you can do without those feats, meaning that anything else your build does needs to be built around those feats and their requirements, and you need to be confident it’s what you want to do.
The result though is pretty gonzo. It’s things like being able to interrupt enemies moving to you, or even past you by stopping their movement and dumping them on their butts. Enemies so dumped then have to decide if they’re going to spend their remaining actions getting up (and doing nothing else) or attacking from the floor, at a disadvantage with what is, usually a worse attack. Very powerful, but the thing is… like…
Spears are really old?
Like spears are probably one of the oldest weapons we’ve devised and we’re still devising new, good and better ways to do spears. A bayonet is functionally a type of spear, it’s not like you’re making broad sweeping or slashing motions with them. You could be designing thousands of permutations on spears based on what different cultures are considering and fighting, and they’re all, very recosgnisably just, y’know ‘a spear.’
Axes
Look I’m not going to be pulling any punches here: Axes are an afterthought. Axe support is not very strong and despite having two very cool example axes, the executioner axe and mordenkrad, the axe support mostly makes axes more reliable in doing damage than expanding what they do outside of that. They also have a weird example of a ‘bonus damage’ feat that doesn’t scale up, something most of the other weapon categories’ type get.
Axes are also a type of tool humans have been making and warring with forever, which means it’s a great place you could say, introduce some more axes if you were inclined to do so for your setting.
Crossbows and Bows
The ranger represents a great use for the longbow, which stands apart from crossbows and their littler cousin. There is a crossbow user par excellence in the game, which is the Artificer, which is because they’re proficient with the crossbow, and it’s a ranged attacking option that they can support with feats. Longbows are broadly speaking, just better than the more mechanical cousins, since they don’t need actions to reload, and they sit at the longbow values of a 1d8 damage and a +3 to hit.
Ranged weapons all live in the space where the advantage they give (not being in melee) is so massive that whatever else you want to do with them has to stack up to that. There’s a striker that can use melee or ranged options, the Ranger, and there’s a reason why all the optimisation guides talk about them as a melee damage dealer by default who can use a backup to attack at range if they have to.
Further, ranged attacking spaces are dominated by spellcasters. This is a kinda novel thing about the world setting of 4th edition where, y’know, when you think about it, it wouldn’t be a super competitive place for training generations of archers when you can probably get a more flexible option by training generations of warlocks or wizards.
Conclusion
You don’t need to do any of these things in your 4th edition games. The differences between weapon categories are small enough that it’s not a big deal and you can play with variances deliberately, like the axe vs sword options. The existing structure of how 4th edition weapons work does, literally, work, and it’s not an important game balance rule that needs addressing.
But, I think it does represent a particular way of thinking about weapons and weaponcraft, where the ‘best’ weapons are themselves indicative of some kind of cultural hierarchy. You (probably) live in a world where swords were status symbols and media overwhelmingly favoured them, and so were the people who made D&D. There’s no specific singular cause here, it’s just a thing, and who knows, it might be traceable back to a specific period of movie-making where swords were just easier to make look cool. I’m not about to attribute a clear cause here.
Nonetheless, when playing 4th edition, you may want to broaden that base, you may want to look at other options, and ask yourself if the mundane weapons represented in the game world are the best ones to make your setting work. Do you want to add more axe-spears? Do you want better maces?

Hello Elliot!
I'm making a comic and one of the characters is a little person, and her husband is not. I want to design their house in a way that will work for both of them, where they can both do everything they need.
Things I'm already planning:
Their home will be single story/one floor so there are no stairs.
An extra cabinet in the kitchen for more plates/bowls/etc. that she can access easily.
A separate area in the kitchen with lower countertops.
Lots of step stools/mini stairs with wheels that she can move around in order to access countertops.
Lots of reaching tools for things like light switches and door handles.
Her own closet/wardrobe that's built to her height.
A bathroom with a normal shower for her husband and one of those accessible walk in tubs for her (like the ones with the doors that swing open and seats for you to sit down).
A second bathroom sink area that's her height, along with towel bars and cabinets at her level.
Do you have any other suggestions, or links to resources or examples of homes that have been designed to be accessible for people with very different heights?
Thank you! <3
Hello! These are all wonderful! My family, friends, and now partner are all average height so my household accommodations have always kept that in mind. You've thought of nearly everything! Here's my additions:
A dual shower head (with possibly a bar and a seat) can also be an option in the bathroom rather than a separate bath
In my household we use the higher shelves for my partners' things or for stuff I don't use often/without him. For instance, the coffee can be up high since he's who makes it in the morning - along with extra appliance parts, his waffle maker, backup pantry items, etc.
Spatially, something else to consider for your Little partner is their pain needs. I for instance, have stations throughout the house (bathroom, bed side table, living room couch table) where I keep things like water, meds, stim toys, CBD, etc. Chronic/arthritic pain is common for little people, and there will be evidence of that in their space.
Note that adaptations are often income-based. You've described my ideal living space! But with my financial and living situation (on ODSP and renting), making permanent adjustments to my home is not feasible. My personal counter was made from scrap wood by a friend of mine. Most of my stools were gifts from my mother. Very little of my house is actually adjusted, just worked around - and this is the reality for lots of disabled folk. Of course this may not be the case for your character! Just keep in mind that classism touches everything!
I love what you've included! What a lovely interabled household!
-Elliot (they/them)

Humans are weird: Never put a human in a zoo
( Please come see me on my new patreon and support me for early access to stories and personal story requests :D https://www.patreon.com/NiqhtLord Every bit helps)
The sudden extinction of the Dre people was as sudden as it was unexpected to the galactic community. They were one of the oldest and most technologically advanced races in the universe. Heavily isolationist by nature, coupled with their inherent self-sense of superiority they viewed much of the other space faring species as little more than savages by comparison as none of them presented a credible challenge their rule. Yet within a month they had lost nearly 99% of their population across multiple worlds.
The worst hit was their homeworld of Belnuck situated at the heart of their empire which became an empty husk of a world seemingly overnight. Ancient and powerful cities of technological wonder now were little more than ghost towns to be picked clean by scavengers.
There were no signs of civil strife or unrest, no exterior threat from military forces, not even a record of natural disaster on their homeworld. Nothing was found that could give a clue as to what could have erased such a prominent power as the Dre, and so it was written off as a deadly unsolved mystery and the galactic community went on.
At least, that was what the public report stated.
It wasn’t until a group of Kreen scavengers came upon a set of personal journals that the shroud of uncertainty was lifted. Only to be then shortly locked away and sealed under the highest security restrictions to ensure the truth never saw the light of day.
These are those journal entries: ------------------------------- Personal Journal Entry J-757931 Head curator Migu
The benefactors are requesting we add new exhibits to the zoo again.
I thought they would have been content with the Draxic specimens we captured last month but it seems the general public no longer find giant lizards fascinating to observe. One of them suggested we allow the Draxic to mingle with other exhibits for inter species interactions for potential science research; but I could tell right away that what they really wanted from this was to have guests pay to see those lizard savages rip apart our other attractions like a Frong in a Skitch field.
I wish they could at least try to hide their greediness behind some semblance of rationality. At least then it would be easier to stomach.
I’ve scheduled a discussion with our head capture specialists to go out and find new attractions for the people later today. I don’t have much hope they can find anything as fascinating to revive interest but one never knows. End Log Entry. ---------------------------------- Personal Journal Entry J-757935 Head curator Migu
Capture team theta appears to have acquired something of value.
The specimens were caught will transitioning into real space at the edge of a system and were removed from their vessel shortly after.
Their technology was primitive in nature, but from the recordings the capture team sent back their esthetic design choices appear to be unique for such a low species. Accessing their data banks was a trivial matter and provided a wealth of history to them.
They appear to call themselves “Humons”, and have only recently begun intergalactic travel.
From the data we have gathered these humons are a highly warlike society repeating cycles of great conflict to great resurgence throughout their history. During war time they have fought with everything from sharpened wood stakes to low grade thermo nuclear devices.
While lacking the physical exciting traits like armored skin or shape shifting qualities, I believe their nature as a self-destructive race will make them a comedic addition to the zoo.
Theta team is on their way back now with them and I’ve already given instructions to create the new paddock for them in the east wing. With any luck the benefactors will find them as amusing as I do and calm down. End Log Entry. ------------------------------- Personal Journal Entry J-757940 Head curator Migu It could not have gone any better. The public loves the new attractions and the benefactors love the increase in profits. Theta team captured roughly a dozen of these humons and when coupled with their historical data we were able to depict several invigorating habitats. We injected them with the standard nano machines to provide feedback on each of them for both the caretakers and the guests. I do have some concerns about handing the medical needs of these humons as none of our handlers know how to treat them, but I have tasked them with dissecting the gathered data for any relevant medical information. They seem very energetic and many of them have not stopped trying to escape their exhibit since they woke up. A few of them have already begun crafting crude weapons to defend themselves while forming mini factions. The largest group has created a primitive wooden fortress by sharpening sticks and creating walls with them. The smaller group has kept their distance from the larger groups while the remaining few have decided to remain in isolation from both groups. Guests love it when they start banging on the windows and try to talk with them. The children in particular I overheard already picking out their favorites and rooting for them to survive should they begin fighting. We’ve not had this kind of engagement since we brought in Bengols with their psionic abilities. ------------------------------
Personal Journal Entry J-758021 Head curator Migu
It’s been several cycles since my last entry and we’ve had a few snags. Our lack of medical knowledge regarding our latest exhibits has proven costly. Despite our best efforts to decrypt the remaining data from their ships it appears medical information was damaged beyond recovery during the capture process. This has left us unable to properly care for them during medical emergencies; which have happened far sooner than expected.
After several days of captivity several of the humons began showing signs of rapidly deteriorating mental stability. They’ve displayed signs of paranoia, societal breakdown, and an increase in aggression levels to the point they murdered other humons in the enclosure.
We’ve never had this problem before with our other exhibits, at least within such a short timeframe, and now the benefactors are calling for my head. They are upset that their most prized money generators are murdering each other risking their profit margin.
I’ve suggested applying mild sedatives to calm them but was denied. They insist that curbing their more primitive tendencies would cause customers to lose interest in them.
The suggestion of capturing more of these humons was strongly advocated for but it was my turn to deny that request. Deploying a capture team was an expensive endeavor and if the humons continued killing each other the costs would overturn any increase in profits.
I’m putting together alternatives now for my next meeting with them. Hopefully something will come along and save our hides. ---------------------------------
Personal Journal Entry J-758043 Head curator Migu
The problem for the time being has resolved itself via an unexpected avenue.
One of the capture humons was seen treating the few remaining humans; providing basic medical treatment and care.
Ordinarily we would have written off such behavior but because of our current medical situation we decided to bend regulations and reach out to the subject directly.
A translator unit was acquired and we were able to speak directly with the humon. It took several minutes to calibrate, thankfully much of their speech was unrecognizable. They would not stop trying to speak with us while it was being adjusted and went on and on about wanting to be set free and demanding answers. Honestly you think these humons would be grateful that we are lowering ourselves to speak with them.
When they finally calmed down we explained the situation to them. In exchange for their cooperation they would be given special privileges to treats and comforts for the duration of their stay. They wanted to be let out and freed from the exhibit but I quickly shut that down as a non-starter.
It eventually dawned on them that this was going to be their new existence for the remainder of their life and could live in comfort or watch as their friends died one by one; and they accepted the offer. -------------------------
Personal Journal Entry J-758117 Head curator Migu
While unusual the negotiating tactic with the humon has resolved the issue for us and the benefactors are happy once more.
With the medical humons help they were able to stabilize the injured humons while also negotiate a form of agreement between the humon factions in the exhibit. They could still maim and injure each other while guests were present but would not kill and then would be treated afterwards before the next day’s opening.
Interestingly enough the medical humon has proved very useful. They’ve been able to communicate with the rest of the humons and get them to fall in line. What’s more they’ve been minimalistic in requests with the biggest being to be taught some of the basics of our medical equipment so he can use it himself.
Ordinarily we don’t allow this but it would have freed up some of the medical wing so we allowed it with extensive supervision.
I must admit I am rather proud of myself for resolving the situation, and with such little expenditure. Things now are running smoothly once more and the profits are seeing ever increasing margins. Maybe now the benefactors will get off my back. Though honestly I think it’ll only last one or two months before the humons are worn out and they want something new.

This is Chief Medical officer Maxwill Clemons of the ship “Hades Rest” calling out to any terran ships requesting immediate rescue.
I am not sure what planet or system we’re in, but hone in on this signal and you will find us. I will be repeating this message every hour on the hour for as long as this place has power.
I’ve lost track of how long I’ve been in this god forsaken hellhole. The automated day/night cycles have made my attempts at record keeping near impossible.
Maybe a month? Two? I don’t know. It doesn’t matter.
We were kidnapped from our ship after exiting a jump and woke up to find ourselves in some sort of alien zoo. The aliens refused to speak to us at first, instead watching us from windows and laughing at us while we struggled to find out what was going on.
They’re all dead now. The aliens that is.
I never knew what they called themselves and I don’t really care.
They treated my friends like animals, so I took their precious tech and turned it on them. Made the nano machines they injected us with register the alien DNA as a deadly virus in need of immediate eradication.
First one I got was the one who was so smug about our capture and display. They changed their tune after I spat in their eye and their face started melting as the nano tech spread. Two others came in after the screaming started and they got infected as well before fleeing the room.
I stood up and went to my comrades “habitat’ and let them out as every alien around us began screaming and melting away. That was at least three days ago now and I haven’t seen one of them yet. Their whole planet now is like one massive ghost town.
We’ve enough provisions to last us and the other freed captives for some time, but please do hurry. I want off this fraking shit hole as soon as possible. --------------- Message repeats:

Have there been any theories about WTF is going on outside the Curve??
There's like a gazillion portals opening.
Some of them are square, triangles, or hexagonical.
All sorts of colors (including green and yellow).

NO ONE SEEMS TO COME THROUGH MOST OF THEM.
(With very few exceptions, compared to the sheer number of portals opening)

And as for those that do have portal travelers, it seems that, unlike Eyepatch Morty, most of them are not well-prepared.
WHO IS OPENING THE OTHER PORTALS???
This ain't a localized phenomenon, either. We can't say anything along the lines of "oh, in this specific place the fabric of space-time is extra fragile and portals are randomly opening all by themselves" because when Eyepatch Morty portals away from the trippy alien base, the new location also has countless traveler-less portals:
Gosh, there are even portals right outside his home:

Is space-time itself, like... permanently broken outside the Curve? (By what??)
Is someone opening them on purpose? (Who??)
Are they remnants of something else? (Some attempt of, I dunno... interdimensional mass transit that went awry?)
Is this a side-effect of the Curve itself? (i.e. it is stable, at the expense of the rest of the multiverse)
Did Rick Prime have anything to do with it? (not in the sense that he gifted other people portal travel -not again- but more in the sense that he created a weapon that pierced holes to the fabric of space-time itself)
Are they all safe to enter? (or would some of them lead to places like the blender dimension, or would disintegrate you on the spot, like that bootleg portal fluid Rick?)
Are you in constant danger of one appearing RIGHT INTO YOUR PATH at the last possible moment? (and you have no choice but go through it, especially if you're a small golden spaceship speeding away from a monster?)
Are they caused by some sort of... chaos beast? (like the one that pooped Chinese fortune cookies lol: each time a baby laughs an alien poops an angel gets their wings a portal opens)
Are they spewed intentionally by some sort of interdimensional monster? (and lead right into its stomach)
Are the countless portals a self-defense system, designed and employed by nations that Farts tried to cleanse? (since Farts are gaseous and can't go through a portal, maybe having a myriad portals all at once going anywhere is the only way one can escape)
Is it a trap? (laid by whom...? And how does it work? Is it meant to lead people to their deaths? Is this something along the lines "When everyone is Super, no one will be"? Did someone like the Farts freely grant portal technology to everyone, leading to reckless, pointless usage of it and absolute chaos?)
Is this simply the nature of the inter-dimensional space, end of story? (but there weren't any in the inter-dimensional space that Eyepatch Morty first arrived after he escaped the Curve... Is this a recent phenomenon? If so, what changed??)

Narinder’s Temple is an Ossuary!
(Pic from Cult of the Lamb wiki)
So I was thinking about the different temple aesthetics you can choose from in the Sins of the Flesh update. You’ve got a nature aesthetic, a gold aesthetic, a more elaborate version of the basic temple, and a spooky bone aesthetic that seems to represent Narinder. His very first quest after bringing him into the cult involves creating a skull decoration.
Now I was thinking about the bone aesthetic and thought there had to be more to it than just being a creepy choice for those that are into the macabre.
Turns out, there are churches/chapels that are almost completely decorated in real bones (heads up if you decide to Google that: you’re gonna see skulls, bones, and even full mummies). These Ossuaries were decorated with the bones of the deceased when burial space was hard to come by. It was considered quite an honor to be interred literally in the walls of the place where you worshipped in life. These churches also have the secondary function of having worshippers contemplate their own mortality and to remind them to make the most of the time they have because someday they too will be nothing but bones.
So in short, Narinder’s temple design would literally be the ultimate symbol of devotion to him.
Another bit of info that takes on a new light when you consider Narinder’s temple: it’s implied that he may have been dabbling in resurrection (he reacts approvingly when you resurrect someone in one of his last quests). With his temple serving as both a place of worship and a constant reminder of death itself, Narinder himself was possibly fascinated by life in general. We don’t know if he ever had any sort of mortal life before gaining the Red Crown (Leshy and Shamura at least had some sort of unpowered existence before finding their crowns), so only knowing death could make the prospect of harnessing the power over life (or even experiencing it at all), rather enticing.

Project V DRAFTS! Vogelfrei 2: Wilder Winter
Beware, Art and Writing spoilers ahead!
Vogelfrei 2: Wilder Winter (V2:W2) Believe it or not, but this doodle from November of 2024 has a crazier lore than all of Vogelfrei 1 combined. *More drawings follow at the very end!
Start note
Hello folks! I’d like to start by wishing a great day to the 6-ish people following this Gravity Falls Shenanighans account ! After some debating and consultation, I decided to post ahead some designs for characters which will make an appearance in the sequel. (that’s right, Vogelfrei is a duology fanfic project!)
Since character designs are subjected to change(Especially Lidia who might have to change colour because I’ve seen other lilac triangle ocs on Tumblr), I’d like to layout the idea of it at least before it becomes unoriginal. After all, a story cannot solely rely on the element of surprise to be good, it’s the content that makes it interesting.
Vogelfrei will have a Sequel?
The first book is barely at its beginning and it already has a sequel?
Why, yes! I had the unfortunate idea of creating an outline for the sequel back in December of 2024 while searching for an ending of the first book.
What’s so different about Wider Winter?
Wilder Winter will focus on out-of-worldly shenanigans a lot more than the first book!
It will also have a ton of invented concepts for the narrative that strays further away from TBOB, going against nearly EVERYTHING that happened in the canon series and books.
Basically, it’s undoing most of the effects of Bill’s past crimes while consequences follow.
Without further ado …
Summary
Bill Cipher , a patient in the Theraprism’s Interdimensional Tyrant Ward, had been sentenced to a rehabilitation program called Pilot Project Vogelfrei. Previously, he had been sent to Earth in the dimension 46’/ and had been working on himself while illegally squatting living with the Ramirez and Pines families during the summer of 2015, before an incident which led the early conclusion of the project.
Fortunately for himself, Bill Cipher was soon released back into the multiverse and had been living a relatively quiet life back in Gravity Falls, Oregon, USA. However, the following winter, trouble follows him as he and the family reunited for the holidays. While Ford and Bill go out to gathered firewood, they get ambushed by an invisible enemy and Bill gets severely injured.
In the aftermath of the fight, Bill was violently removed from dimension 46’/, leading to a chain reaction that soon put the multiverse’s stability at stake.
He ends up in his metaphysical form yet again, encountering people who should’ve been dead, while trying to evade his own death. Vogelfrei 2: Wilder Winter, Featuring:
-cutiesy queer-platonic Billford at the beginning. (NOT the main focus of the story)
-Bill on a death row, AGAIN!
-The rebirth of Euclidia?!
-Time Baby is back, babey!
-Ford and Bill ,in different places, being inter-dimensional criminal menaces.
-Are those bounty hunters or simply killers with a warrant?
-The Pines and Blendin Blandin travel through space and time.
-Bill is NOT FIT to be a trusted adult, but here we are.
-Tad Strange, Bill Cipher and Steven Pyramid are NOT related.
-“Who gave that kid a GUN?”
-Surprise adoption?
More Art (traditional and digital)

[transcript of the convo between Bill and Lidia]
Bill: OH EM GEE LIDIA VERTEX, have you NO decency?!
Dee: *squints* …
Bill: And anyways, I’m an equilateral, that makes me better than you.
Dee: … *thinking to herself* oh my Pythagoras, not this again.
Dee: *smirking* Oh yeah? Well I think you’re just an OLD SORE LOSER who tries to cover up the fact he got no boyfriend.
Bill, his eye blood red: NOT TRUE !
[end of transcript]
End note
Vogelfrei 2 will be even more of a mixed media project, I plan to experiment making it into a comic. However, I need to bring Vogelfrei 1 to completion first, so V2:W2 might come in a year or two depending on how fast u finish the current book. In sum, this is a sneak peek of some characters that will make a later appearance. (it ails me that I have to wait months before I get to use these goobers 😩)
Again, if there are any questions or comments, all are welcome and appreciated! Though this story will be published waaaaay later because I planned this thing like those 5 year plans under communism regimes.
Honestly, with my current writing speed, we might see it finished in 5 years when the evil Cheeto and his Hairless Elongated Muskrat explode.
