Enjolras: Undivine Comedy — Zygmunt Krasiński

It's literally set in the French Revolution and it's theme is basically the fight against aristocracy and democracy. It's exactly his kind of thing come on he would adore it and quote it all the time

Combeferre: Master Thaddeus — Adam Mickiewicz

not sure how to explain it, I just feel like he would enjoy it. It's Poland's national epic and he probably learnt the invocation off by heart and cried at the ending. also got recommended it by feuilly

Courfeyrac: Quo Vadis — Henryk Sienkiewicz

It's about the rise of Christianity in Rome and I feel like Courf would DEFINITELY enjoy talking about the Roman Empire in general (also makes fun of nero reading it)

Feuilly: The Peasants — Władysław Reymont

Polish village vibe. EXACTLY HIS KIND OF THING!!!! he is 101% a village boy and I do not care what anyone else has to say. I can also imagine him bawling his eyes out reading it too and rightly so

Grantaire: Dziady — Adam Mickiewicz

Slavic Halloween, Grantaire would absolutely love it and his favourite part is definitely part III, ghosts and blaming God for you country being partitioned is badass

Joly: The Wedding — Stanisław Wyspiański

It's a bit creepy... “ghosts of personae from Polish history and culture, representing the guilty consciences of the living.” oh and the guests at the wedding get hypnotised by a straw-wrap. honestly joly would find it fascinating

Jehan: The Doll — Bolesław Prus

Femme fatale coquette, merchants, floating metals, dilf as a main character, old man yaoi HE WOULD ADORE THIS BOOK (I also recommend it a lot, it's so good, read it)

Bahorel: The Deluge (or the Trilogy in general) — Henryk Sienkiewicz

A whole lot of winged hussar badassery. Duels constantly, Bahorel would love it all. deffo would become obsessed with winged hussars

Lesgle: Vengeance — Aleksander Fredro

This book is genuinely hilarious and he would actually love reading it, that's all I have to say

Something I absolutely adore about The Lord of the Rings is the healthy depiction of masculinity, and how it's not seen through just the Hobbits - who are known for valuing friendship, love, and a quiet, simple life. It's Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf, Boromir, Faramir, Eomer, and Theoden. All of the men love, they laugh, they cry, they express themselves, they grieve, and they're never weaker for it. In fact, it's this emotional vulnerability - their capacity for love - that helps them succeed in saving Middle Earth. It's such a refreshing and beautiful thing to see.

Just props to JRR Tolkien for writing the characters the way he did and to Peter Jackson and the cast for bringing it to life so beautifully.

It's a Match!

Being the King of the Infinite Realms didn't really give you many dating options. There were no candidates who weren't committed or completely sincere, and Danny was feeling sensitive those days so he was frustrated. The Observants telling him to get a partner to create a "better future" and offering horrible options was especially infuriating those days, he wished they would stop meddling in his life.

Sam and Tucker, seeing the halfa's frustration did what any friend would do in such a situation: They created a profile for him on a dating app. Although they didn't notice that when they connected it to Technus' Internet the app started taking "candidates" from other dimensions that had it.

Despite not trusting it much at first, Danny eventually embraced the idea and very quickly connected with "Jason Todd" who claimed to be a zombie. Danny thought it was funny and told him he was a ghost, which Jay obviously didn't believe. Ironically, they matched because of the "I died" jokes on their profiles.

The only problem was when Jason asked to meet (he was absolutely convinced that Danny was either homeless or living on the streets due to his refusal to send pictures from home and wanted to feed him) and Danny didn't know how to tell him that he didn't know what dimension he was in.

You do get the sense that the fallout of Roger's death and the Roger pirates disbanding not so much traumatized Buggy and Shanks indifferent ways but instead generated such drastically different reactions to the trauma.

While the trauma of everything seemed to push Shanks into the future, always constantly waiting for something, putting plans on hold and then later in place, for this great moment, this great coming that he sees on the Horizon. For Buggy it rooted him firmly in the past keeping him trapped in this grief masquerading as anger.

While Roger's death forced Shanks to grow up fast, it kind of arrested Buggy's development keeping him stuck in those same feelings, rooted int that same place.

You get the sense that Buggy's whole east blue schtick is just one long overdue rebellious phase one big fuck you to Roger and his ideals. He's rebelling against Roger's principles. One of their rules was don't steal from innocent people and Buggy was keeping a whole town in poverty. If Roger and Luffy's pirating styles are diametrically opposed to someone like Blackbeard, who might be the most literal pirate in the entire series, then buggy is the parody of that Blackbeard piratism. He is playing up cruelty, being the most piratey pirate possible, hell he's literally a clown on a stage. It's all a show! It's his own special way of trying to "get back at Roger" of trying to discard everything Roger taught him for this overacted, over exaggerated clownish cruelty. Mentally he never left that execution square. He is still 15, alone and scared.

Hell he literally never left either, while I'm pretty sure Shanks' booked it out of the east blue as fast as he could, Buggy never lef, might have never left, if not for Luffy. It's part of why Luffy bothers him so much, he's just like Roger everything that Buggy is trying hard to forget and here comes this kid, whose never even met the Captain but is wearing his hat, shoving it right back in his face.

It makes sense that he never leaves the east blue till Luffy literally forces him out of it (fucking with Luffy gets him captured and imprisoned) and it makes sense that it's Luffy that literally breaks him out of prison, literally sets him free, and on the path to greatness that maybe he was always meant to achieve (even if he trips his way into it). This boy that is tragically so much like his old captain but so beautifully unabashedly himself, is what Buggy needs to start letting go off the past, to start trying to move forward.

Maybe that's why Buggy, at what could arguably be described as his lowest moment, gets the strength to free himself from his own self imprisonment, realizing that even back then he was locking himself away and pinning his own dreams on Shanks. And, maybe for the first time ever, Buggy really own his dream. He declares to his tormentors and his crew and the entire world that; actually He wants to find the one piece, him, as captain of his own crew, this crew, not just a part of someone else's. That's his dream and he's willing to turn the world upside down to do it.
