there are only two kinds of autism. the one where it takes you so long to start talking that your parents are worried something's wrong with you and then you suddenly start speaking in full sentences when you're 2 years old (laios and falin) and the one where you simply Do Not Shut Up the second you can make even vaguely word-like sounds (marcille)

the viper moray is so squishy. it also has a bad rep like the fangtooth moray because they look kinda scary but theyre no different than any other moray C:

as for moray eel eyesight, their pupils are circular and don’t respond much to lighting changes. they do, however, do remarkably well when it comes to gauging distance. they sense their prey by sniffing them out and using vibrations in the water though, plus they hunt at night so excellent vision isn’t exactly necessary.

i honestly don’t know why they don’t wear glasses, it’s a question i’ve thought about a lot too. since azul wears glasses and octopi have really good vision (told my friend about it and she brought up colorblind glasses but thats not the case. trey's halloween sr vignette says straight up that azul wears them for vision correction + implies that he also has blurry vision when he takes them off. he also wears them because they make him appear more "intellectual." love that guy.)

anyways azul isnt the point even though i adore him. the leech brothers could very well wear contacts but i’d imagine they’d react to glasses the same way they react to shoes. azul mentioned once (in the trey halloween vignette again) that people in the coral sea do wear glasses, they just aren’t that common.

maybe floyd just didn’t want to go through the hassle of getting a vision test done? maybe he’ll get glasses once he gets bored!! i don’t know about jade though since he does a lot of mountain explorations and you kind of have to see.

it’s most likely just a design choice though...ultimately my scientific research doesn’t mean much in the face of character design LMAO but its still fun to think about!!

I don’t speak Japanese so I’d LOVE to hear more about the differences between the English and Japanese Re:Zero fandoms

yeah sure its very interesting to me now that ive noticed it more lately :o !! though ok disclaimer - i dont speak japanese either hah so if anyone is seeing this and does speak japanese + is familiar with the japanese speaking side of this fandom please add info if youd like!! and of course ill be mainly speaking from the english side of things bc im more familiar with that yes (sorry anon again im not a japanese speaker T^TT so sorry if i tread on info you already know!!). but yeah im speaking from my own experiences given the Topic at hand. ive been in this fandom since... 2019?? which is so wild to me aljsdfljsd.

anyway so - i think the big difference is mainly that the english fandom and many english speaking people that engage with rezero are. to put it bluntly, misconception runs Rampant to a very Interesting degree. to the point where it seems like the english speaking side of the fandom is More. Aggressive. than the japanese fandom. not that the japanese speaking side of the fandom is perfect - also bc what fandom is ever perfect 100% of the time, tbh - but that the louder people in the english rezero fandom are. well its a Very low bar. Very low. and from what little ive seen and heard so far, the japanese fandom tends to understand rezero and its characters better than the english fandom. which ig makes sense bc you know, rezero is japanese media, and also im sure cultural differences come into play here as well (im not familiar enough on this to speak about it in depth but the cultural differences feel Pretty Clear even though i cant 100% put my finger on what they specifically are).

but also bc yeah. its not That hard to beat some of the english fandom when it comes to media comprehension. misreading rezero is unfortunately Extremely common, both in and out of the rezero community. its Everywhere - youtube, myanimelist, ao3, ff.net, reddit, twitter, various rezero discords - and from what ive experienced, rezero tumblr basically kind of feels like finding an oasis after crawling through the desert for days on end lajdslfjs. which is probs bc rezero tumblr is Smaller and also a lot of us seem to be lgbtq+ in some way or be allies, so you dodge a lot of the misogyny and homophobia that happens in other rezero english circles. its why you see a lot of openly queer rezero-related posts on here while its a bit more. barren. in other rezero english places yes. bc its more safe to post queer rezero things on rezero tumblr rather than rezero reddit for Sure.

im not sure how the japanese fandom is with that exactly but theres some interesting differences between whats popular in the english fandom vs the japanese fandom. i mean as an otto fan ive been noticing how hes more popular with the japanese fandom—and on top of that, ottosuba is Way More popular in the japanese fandom too. reinsuba and julisuba seem to usually be the most popular mlm subaru ships in both fandoms but ottosuba is like A Little Up There in the japanese fandom. not sure if its on the same level as a ship like reinsuba but ottosubas Definitely loved as a ship. from what little ive seen it also seems like ships like vichisha are more acknowledged by the japanese fandom? im not entirely sure on like—Complete differences regarding what the japanese fandom finds interesting that may differ from english fandom, so ill really have to look more into the japanese fandoms fanart and fanfic when i can bc im pretty curious too. in general though, it seems like the japanese fandom has a bit more variety…. you can find fanart on So Many characters in rezero (which already has a very Massive cast full of very fleshed out characters) there. not that you cant in the english fandom bc theres a Bit of variety too, but id more so contribute that a little more to the Big Cast and less to having actual variety in fancontent. and of course im not saying that the japanese fandom may be a bit barren in some areas of fancontent—bc inevitably when u have a big cast of characters, side character content is gonna be more sparse compared to the main characters, but to me it does feel like the english fandom lacks variety in comparison. (and also yeah. seems like the japanese fandom acknowledges gay ships more in general tbh.)

whats focused in fancontent makes it easy to tell what may be popular in a fandom in terms of how fans perceive the source material and what fandoms want to do with the source material, if that makes sense. and its very easy to tell that with the english fandom if you just hop on rezero ao3–or even better, rezero reddit given theres a fanfic ideas thread thats usually pinned right at the top of the site. again i havent looked at japanese fanfic for rezero yet (bc i dont know where to look oops ajdndn) but when it comes to the english fandom you can tell that theyre generally more focused on the female cast both in fanart and in fanfic bc. theyre women and many fans on say, reddit or various rezero discords, are cis straight men, so inevitably… well lets just say you can tell when a man makes content for this fandom o.o theres also the. very weird reaction fic trends and trends following popular fics in the fandom, the two biggest being the watching him die again and again react fic and re:forgotten, the former of which includes a harem plot with subaru and the main girls of rezero while the latter is one of those subaru gets tortured by his ooc friends and then he gets revenge on them fics. which i suppose says something about the english fandom too.

of course on ao3 its dominated mainly by english fics (of course not all fics on there for rezero are in english— big shoutout to all the non english fics on rezero ao3 ur doing great <3 — but the majority are in english). and while yeah ur occasionally gonna find stuff like queer content or side character content or rarepair content, its definitely not that big in amount and also comes with the risk of. Hate. if anyones reading this and remembers the lone star stuff. (if u dont know—lone star was a julius x emilia fic where they NTR subaru or some shit and then it got bombed with hate bc of the ship? yeah.) so yeah english fandom is very cis straight oriented, ironically with the nastiest people being the very people that rezero criticizes. though this is also my personal experience, i do know several people personally whove been in this fandom for a while or were here for a while and yeah english fandom isnt very welcoming at times???? and it seems like at the very least the japanese fandom is A Little Less Aggressive than the english fandom is.

otherwise. yeah im very very curious about more of the differences in popular content between the japanese vs english fandom. i mean the english fandom’s main focus on the female cast for. Interesting Reasons other than their actual character depth is… interesting. and the astreas being popular in general vs otto + ottosubas popularity fluctuating is also very interesting to me (but i have several guesses as to Why that is), among other things. yeah id love to know what else the japanese fandom likes about rezero and see more of their content. i also have to wonder if characters like emilia and subaru are hated less by the japanese fandom…. T^T well that and the english fandom and many english speaking people engaging in rezero have this interesting pattern of either hating subaru No Matter What, wanting subaru to Not Be Subaru (ie using him as a self insert almost or attempting to change him into virtually another character), or putting subaru on a pedestal and ignoring his flaws and mistakes and that he Can do wrong. like theres Really not a lot of nuance there. so i wonder if the japanese fandom is. A Little more chill when it comes to character opinions like this too.

Azul Ashengrotto x reader

The beach smelled like summer.

The salty breeze lapping at your cheeks, nibbling against your skin ever so lightly. Cerulean waves rocked into the shore, foam bubbling against the sand. The sound of the water a hymn, honouring all the wonders of the sea.

Hand interlocked with the male behind you, you both made your way towards the golden shore.

It was hard to stifle a smile when you stepped onto the beach, grinning at the way your shoes sunk into the sand. Feeling those little yellow particles crunched under your sole. You soon made short work of your shoes, kicking them off, if only to feel the softness of the sand underfoot.

A soft sigh blew right by you, uncertain eyes hidden behind lens of glass, twinkling with the sun’s glow. Always one step behind you, Azul walked with slow, tentative steps, carefully navigating his way through the sandy shores. He wasn’t too eager to come to the beach, but how could Azul refuse you?

You were ever so cute as you pleaded, eyes all bright, shimmering like pearls. You’ve spent your time weaseling through every excuse he put up, shooting them down one by one. Until Azul finally relented, if only to get you to stop. Honestly, you’ve been spending too much time with him in the Mostro Lounge.

Not that Azul hates it. It’s rather… pleasant to have some company whenever he’s working. Especially when it’s yours. Your voice, a smoothing potion engulfing his heart in a warm, tender embrace.

He hangs back, tossing his coat onto the ground. This wasn’t a planned trip, honestly. Azul would have preferred to have a mat, some refreshments and all the works. However, the moment he agreed, you grabbed some leftovers from the Mostro Lounge, and dragged him to the beach immediately.

Spontaneous, aren’t you? Despite himself, Azul’s lips slipped into a small smile. You just couldn’t contain your excitement of finally making him crack. Well, you might think you were the victor, frolicking merrily in the waves, but to Azul?

Tilting his head ever so slightly, Azul’s gaze takes on a softer, more gentle quality as he watches you laugh. Seeing you smile, joy-filled laughter echoing through the air like a siren’s sweet melody….

Anyone would agree that he was the true victor here.

His eyes meet yours, your mischief reflected within his grey irises. Before Azul could even blink, something cold pelted his arms. Your hands were outstretched, flinging seawater all over him. Cool droplets clung onto Azul’s skin, glittering like a string of pearls. Along with those wet splotches, were dark patches of black and purple, blooming across his skin.

Panicked, Azul yanks his sleeves down. A rustle of clothing as Azul did his best to cover up. Keeping that side of him out of sight. Out of your sight, in particular.

You were already so happy. Azul didn’t want you to stop, especially not because of him.

A weight pressed into his arm. Fingers deftly slipping into his sleeves, folding them up hesitantly. Raising his head, Azul came face to face with you. Shooting him a sheepish grin, you fold his sleeves back up, fingers lingering onto the dark splotches on his skin.

They were surprisingly smooth, chilling the very tips of your fingers. A refreshing chill. Pressing your wet palms against his arm, you watched in amazement as his skin changed, melting away into a deep purple.

Swallowing back a quavering breath, Azul whispers, as soft as the sea’s gentle breeze:

“Are you not scared?”

Your gaze flickers back at him, before you shrug.

“Well, it’s cool. It’s a… beautiful purple, really.”

Hands dropping down to his, you clutch at his palm. Fingers trembling as they wrap around his, clasping Azul’s hand within yours.

“Anyways, it was my fault that you got wet in the first place. Sorry, Azul.

I thought you’ll like the beach, but all I did was drag you to a place you didn’t want to go.”

Silence hung heavy in the air in between both of you, before a cough was choked out by Azul. An awkward one, forced out of his throat.

“Well, I wouldn’t say I didn’t want to see the ocean again. Bickering with you about this trip was… unexpectedly fun.”

Carefully, his fingers wrap themselves around a lock of your hair, tucking it securely behind your ear.

“I guess I was just afraid that you’ll be… repulsed.”

Like the rest.

Even though that part went unsaid, you heard it as clear as day. Squeezing his hand affectionately, you whisper to him.

As soft as the ocean’s kisses to the shore.

“I would never be repulsed by you. I… I like you. A lot, actually.”

A sudden warmth rushed to your cheeks. You could feel a tint of pink blooming, turning a deeper crimson with every passing second. Quickly, you avert your gaze. Doing your best to hide your embarrassment from Azul.

Unfortunately for you, a businessman hardly misses anything. A chill nibbles at your cheek, as Azul cups it lovingly. Gently easing your face back forward, coaxing you to look at him once more. His thumb caresses your lips lightly, the weight of his gentle touch lingering long after it moves away.

“What was that, darling? I couldn’t quite catch… whatever it is that you said.”

Frowning at Azul’s smug grin, you reply:

“You definitely heard whatever I said, liar.”

The faintest trace of a smirk danced across his lips, as Azul moved closer. Close enough for you to see your blush reflected within his eyes, to feel his breath, waft against your lips.

“Awww, now I’m a liar? How hurtful. And here I thought I heard you say you loved me.”

Maleficent x Dr. Facilier: A Risky Venture

- It wasn't unusual for new villains to get a crush on Maleficent. Like – yes hello, water is wet, the Mouse won’t shut up, and the Mistress Of All Evil is the most attractive thing on legs, what else is new?

- It was, however, MUCH rarer for a newcomer to actually approach the elder villainess and make a move.

- To date only ten of the 127 Disney villains had ever tried, to varying degrees of success.

- Dr Facilier wasn’t one to simply sidle up and try his luck. At least not without a game plan and some research.

- Simply asking around got him some sly smirks, a huffy eye roll from Hades and the sort of glazed-over look from Jafar that spoke of things he’d really rather not hear about. Ursula cackled enough through her drink that he put her in the same ‘don’t ask’ camp as Jafar. Queen Grimhilde didn’t even deign to respond, and the Horned King simply glared and mimed breaking his neck for asking.

- The other five that had ever tried were apparently smote into craters for the audacity. He cast a look over the singed walls and decided to let those lie.

- He slid into a seat at an empty table, feeling Shadow pool around his feet under the long cloth. Idly, he let his cards flick and tumble through his fingers, deftly shuffling and reshuffling.

- The Loa were off the table. A. Because a date definitely counted as ‘something for himself’. B. Because he could hardly trust them when dealing with something so open ended as a crush. And c. Because he knew she would perceive him as lesser for depending on their help.

- He’d always had good eyes. Able to see what most others couldn’t. And while he would never claim to see through every disguise...from day one he’d been able to see the way fire and scales stretched and twisted under her skin – the way the lights in the room dimmed and flickered under her smile, how her cloak was full of raven feathers and vicious thorns. He could see the way her presence lanced through a crowd like a silent lightning strike – all ozone and anticipation under the thin blanket of night.

- When Hades had leaned over and clicked his jaw shut with a smirk, slyly asking “First time?” it’d taken all he had not to slip into the shadows – donning his signature charm like a shield.

- He blinked down at his hands, frowning at the faces of cards he’d laid down by habit. The devil, the seven of swords, the tower…

- A perfect talon clicks onto the tower. His heart thuds into his mouth as he looks up (and up and UP, hell she’s tall-) at the amused, elegant smile of one Mistress of All Evil.

- Hahaha shit.

- At a loss, he flings himself into his tried and tested talent: talking.

- “Evening, ma’am.” He tips his hat and tried desperately not to overthink the amused upturn of her lips, finding it to be much the same expression as a cat playing with mice. “To what do I owe the pleasure, stopping by little ol’ me?” Should he try and kiss her hand?? It was right there, he should probably look into how to regrow fingers just in case- “Is there...” he swallows. “Anything I can, help you with?”

- She chuckles, and he feels it run though his bones as if he were stood right next to a brass band’s drummers. Shadow has a vice grip on his ankles under the table and he tries so hard not to remember being dragged to his grave, tries not to kick his one remaining friend as Maleficent’s yellow eyes bore into his violet ones and he swears he might know how Hook feels – sized up by a reptile willing and eager to swallow him whole-

- “Plenty, little doctor.” She smiles, slow and sharp. He swallows thickly, fighting not to grin. “if you feel...up to the challenge?”

- He feels his lips drag up into an ill advised grin. “Yes ma’am~”
