Hello, I am from Gaza, due to the shortage of medicine in Gaza, my mother who is a type 1 diabetic and was supposed to undergo urgent eye surgery, has not been able to get insulin or any medical care for the past three months. . Some members of my family fled to the southernmost part of Gaza (Rafah) in tents. But my parents and sisters have nowhere else to stay. They are forced to stay in the Nuseirat refugee camp, which has been bombed since the beginning of Christmas. "I am on my knees asking for your donations. Please help me. where you can, Goal: $700

Just a little thought, if you are planning on donating to an organization that helps in Palestine, you should do it in honor of some shitty Zionist politician and ruin their career. It might not fully ruin their career but I hope it just does that little something to piss them off
You can look up local representatives if you're in the us I know about that at least.
Actually you should just do this for anyone you don't like, just do it for everyone!
Please spread this around!!!!
(a list of some organizations, feel free to add!!)

The scale and sophistication of the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attacks have led many counterterrorism analysts to revisit their assumptions about the group’s intent and capabilities. And one of the biggest questions many have is whether the group, which has never launched a successful attack abroad in its 36-year existence, could transform into a global threat, rather than simply remain a regional one.
On Thursday, seven individuals were arrested in Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands on suspicion of preparing to carry out terrorist attacks against Jewish institutions in Europe. Three suspects detained in Berlin and another in Rotterdam are alleged Hamas members with links to the Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing. According to German authorities, the suspects were tasked with locating a preexisting weapons cache, which would facilitate future attacks. The orders allegedly came from Hamas leadership based in Lebanon.
In the United States, FBI Director Christopher Wray has warned since the Oct. 7 attacks about the elevated terrorism threat level, stating before the U.S. Congress: “We assess that the actions of Hamas and its allies will serve as an inspiration the likes of which we haven’t seen since [the Islamic State] launched its so-called caliphate years ago.” The Europeans are also worried. EU Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson recently stated: “With the war between Israel and Hamas, and the polarization it causes in our society, with the upcoming holiday season, there is a huge risk of terrorist attacks in the European Union.”
From its inception, Hamas has always been something of a duality. The group is both a nationalist movement dedicated to establishing a Palestinian state and a violent Islamist resistance movement, with an ideology derived from the Muslim Brotherhood, originally dedicated to destroying the state of Israel, according to its founding organizational charter. (The charter was revised in 2017 to allow for the possibility of a two-state solution, but the group remains committed to “the full and complete liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea.”) So while its ideology is infused with references to jihad, it was not the global jihad embraced by al Qaeda, the Islamic State, or their respective affiliates worldwide. Accordingly, the Islamic State has repeatedly denigrated Hamas as apostates, criticizing the group for its involvement with elections and for depending so heavily on Shiite Iran for support and patronage.
Though Hamas has never launched a successful attack abroad, there have been several disrupted plots tied to Hamas. In 1997, three individuals arrested in New York City for allegedly planning an attack on the subway were investigated for possible links to Hamas. In November 2003, a Gaza-born Canadian citizen named Jamal Akal was arrested by Israeli authorities as he attempted to leave Gaza and travel back to Canada, where he was allegedly plotting to carry out terrorist attacks against Jewish communities in the United States and Canada. Akal pleaded guilty and served four years in prison in Israel before being released back to Canada, though he maintained that he had been tortured into signing a confession, and his lawyer said Akal accepted a plea deal because he believed conviction was unavoidable. Israel denied that Akal was mistreated.
Hamas does not have a prohibition against killing Westerners—its indiscriminate suicide attacks have killed citizens of Western countries before—but it has mostly eschewed targeting Western interests in favor of focusing on attacking Israel at home. Hamas has maintained long-standing fundraising and propaganda dissemination networks in the West, though, including in the United States. The Holy Land Foundation was a Hamas-linked charity based in Texas that was convicted in 2008 of providing material support to Hamas, funneling more than $12 million to the group over the years.
As a member of Tehran’s “axis of resistance,” Hamas enjoys Iranian largesse in the form of financing, training, and logistical support, provided by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force. Since the early 1980s, Iran helped build Lebanese Hezbollah into a comprehensive terrorist organization with global reach and top-tier capabilities that has launched terrorist attacks in Latin America, Europe, and Asia. Tehran could now choose to do the same with Hamas, even assisting the group with developing an external operations attack network, as it did with Hezbollah.
There seems to be growing support in the Arab world for the Iranian regime on the heels of Oct. 7, with a recent Arab Barometer poll showing that Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, enjoys approval ratings that matched or exceeded that of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati President Mohammed bin Zayed. Popular support in the Arab world matters, especially when it crosses sectarian lines, because it can provide cover for the Iranian regime if it decides to begin turning Hamas into the next Hezbollah.
For years leading up to the horrific attack on Oct. 7, the conventional wisdom was that Hamas was content with reaping the financial benefits of its arrangement in Gaza—where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government and others encouraged and facilitated Qatari cash infusions for economic development—and thus that it had little interest in attacking Israel.
But Oct. 7 may have been a turning point for the group, and it could begin shifting its attention to targets outside of its immediate environs. Speaking in early December on Al-Aqsa television, senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri called for attacks against Israel’s allies, specifically the United States and the United Kingdom. “We need violent acts against American and British interests everywhere, as well as the interests of all the countries that support the occupation,” Zuhri said.
As terrorism scholar Tore Hamming recently observed, there is a range of factors that are likely to contribute to the trajectory of the terrorism threat posed by Hamas in the West: the length of the conflict between Israel and Hamas; the scale and intensity of Israel’s offensive in Gaza; and the degree of support that Western nations provide to Israel. These factors will be considered alongside the daily images of suffering and destruction streaming out of Gaza each day as the civilian death toll continues to climb.
Hamas seems to be hoping that its ideology, its cause, and its brand will go global in much the same way the Islamic State’s did. Its propaganda is resonating with broad swaths of Western publics, especially younger generations and many university students who have turned out in large numbers at anti-Israel demonstrations and protests. Even if just a small fraction of these individuals become radicalized, it increases the likelihood of a lone-actor attack.
Hamas is a different organization after the Oct. 7 attacks, and intelligence officials and security services should adapt accordingly. As the holiday season enters full swing, a range of soft targets—from synagogues to Christmas markets—will remain vulnerable to potential attacks either inspired or directed by Hamas, which has openly declared its desire to ensure that the war does not remain contained to Gaza but also threatens Israel and its supporters worldwide.

Making Every Night Count: Ramadan Donation and My Ten Nights
In the Islamic calendar, Ramadan is a sacred month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. It is a time when Muslims around the world strive to draw closer to Allah, seek forgiveness, and practice self-discipline. One of the key aspects of Ramadan is the concept of "laylatul qadr" or the Night of Power, which is believed to be better than a thousand months. It is during this night that the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.
As Muslims, we are encouraged to make the most of Ramadan by engaging in acts of worship and charity. One way to maximize our blessings during this auspicious time is by donating to charitable causes. This is where organizations like Penny Appeal Canada play a crucial role.
Penny Appeal Canada is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing humanitarian aid and development programs to those in need around the world. Their My Ten Nights campaign is specifically designed for Ramadan, allowing individuals to donate and make a difference during the ten most blessed nights of the month.
The concept of "My Ten Nights" is deeply rooted in Islamic tradition. These are the nights that are believed to hold special significance and are an opportunity for believers to increase their worship and good deeds. By participating in the My Ten Nights campaign, individuals can ensure that their donations are made during these spiritually charged nights, thus multiplying their rewards.
Ramadan Donation is not just about giving money; it's about making a meaningful impact on the lives of others. It's about feeding the hungry, providing clean water to the thirsty, and offering a helping hand to those in need. By donating to organizations like Penny Appeal Canada, we can make a difference in the world and fulfill our duty to help those less fortunate.
One of the key teachings of Islam is the importance of charity. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity." This highlights the significance of giving in Islam and the rewards that come with it.
The My Ten Nights campaign is an opportunity for Muslims to fulfill this important aspect of their faith. By donating during these special nights, individuals can ensure that their contributions have an even greater impact. Whether it's providing iftar meals to those fasting, sponsoring an orphan, or supporting education programs, every donation counts and can make a difference in someone's life.
In conclusion, Ramadan Donation and the My Ten Nights campaign are an opportunity for Muslims to make a difference in the world and earn blessings during the holiest month of the Islamic calendar. By donating to organizations like Penny Appeal Canada, individuals can ensure that their contributions have a lasting impact on those in need. Let us make the most of this blessed month and strive to make every night count.

Waves of Change
August 31, 2024
Tumblr media
Overview
In the heart of Toronto, at Sheraton Hotel, in a light breezy summer day, an annual event was hosted by a prominent Muslim social media platform that is committed to dismantling doubts and fostering faith and conviction. Being invited to Sheraton Hotel reminded me of another event I went to many years ago which was a small gathering with exquisite dining and fine foods but it was not that! For those who have been to RIS (Reviving the Islamic Spirit) it was closer to that venue, if not THAT venue. This was a spaced out hall with seating arrangement facing a panel. A walkway with several vendors and an art and photo exhibition. It was a place people across the GTA came to join a gathering to heal hearts, foster faith and conviction, and look for avenues to contribute meaningfully. The gathering had a calm serenity that filled your soul with tranquility, and it was all in all, a peaceful social environment.
The event included speakers, a photo exhibition about Masjid Al Aqsa, an art exhibition and several vendors including organizations delivering humanitarian and medical supplies (Jordon/Egypt), other vendors included social services including support for the homeless at Nisa Foundation that has contributed to sheltering 1, 127, 396 in their 2022 annual report across Canada. Other partner organizations included mental health and domestic abuse services such as Sakeena and Naseeha helpline. It also included a collection of books by various organizations.
I decided to go check this event because this organization wrote several articles including ones comprehensively looking at monotheism, the problem of evil amongst various other topics people often think about in relation to their faith.
It is unfortunate that many organizations have been heavily scrutinized by some organizers and activists. These include NCCM, CJPME, Yaqeen Institute as well as various masajid across the GTA. In my opinion, it is a heartbreaking situation and I personally believe there is always room to do more and listen to, and center Palestinian voices and their demands as they have lived experience, understand nuances, and have loved ones being attacked and murdered in the most cruel way. Nonetheless, it does not seem fair to discredit all the work that is being done due to differences in theological beliefs between conservative and more liberal Muslims, especially around sensitive contested topics when there is a need for urgency.
Omar Suleiman from Yaqeen insititue is ethnically Palestinian and has dedicated a large portion of his time, resources, personal platforms to advocating for the Palestine cause. Dr. Omar Suleiman was one of the speakers at this conference among others including Zaynab Ansari, Bonaa Mohammad, Ibrahim Hindy and several others from the Yaqeen Institute. Partnership vendors included Nisa Homes, UOSSM that delivers medical and humanitarian aid, Seeding Books, and several others.
In this article, I will highlight first share some of the key insights from the panel. The second section will look at different exhibitions. Finally, my conversations with a few attendees at the conference (who will not be named).
A collection of insights
There were various insights during the talk around themes of The State of the Ummah, Gaza Diaries, Anchors of Resilience, The Impact of Charity (ripple effect), Should Young People Really Lead?, A Poem by Bonaa Mohammad, Anchors of Justice, and What Can I do? These insights include:
The people of Gaza have shown remarkable faith and resiliency. People will not miss their prayers and everyone that has visited has given testimonials that the people will have the Qur'an that they will recite to bring their hearts tranquility. The sisters will not remove their hijabs. Their conviction in their faith is remarkable.
The sheer amount of atrocities that they have faced are at an unprecedented scale. The Yemen crisis is one of the worst crisis and this one is 10 times more difficult with people's teeth removed and gums going inward, the spread of infections, hands and limbs that have been severely injured due to bombings including white phosphorous and other cruel measures against civilians including little children
There is a need for strategic organizing
The political and social system is largely corrupt if it can enable such things and not hold perpetrators accountable for gross human rights violations
There is an intergenerational ripple effect that comes from generosity and it is contagious
The brain has this thing about maintaining homeostasis in the body and the mind so it tolerates substances, it sweats if the body is under prolonged heat or stress and unfortunately it does this each time we are exposed to atrocities. Our humanity dies as we become more and more desensitized.
Strong emotions can be channelled effectively through making dua (supplication)
Dua should not be limited to one's own needs, wants, desires but things outside of ourselves as well because you never know which dua is going to get accepted.
It is important to be merciful to the young
Young people in the community often have a lot of zeal and energy but may make mistakes. Their mistakes should not be a reason to crush them completely.
Many people have made huge sacrifies including with their careers due to their advocacy and deep sense of humanity. They need support
It is important to honor elders including aunts and uncles that volunteer their time at the masjid but may have a cultural and generational gap.
Praying witr at night
Having habits that are exclusively between you and Allah swt
Lightening serious situations through laughter/jokes
Do not take the torch and use it to burn everything down.
Do not crush people's spirits because of one mistake
Have youth boards in masjid
Make dua for halal rizq which comes with responsibilities including taqwa (God consciousness), ibadat (prayer), and generosity.
Protect those who do not have power from those who do have power
Justice is the basis of Islamic theology
An umaah that is a witness to makind, a just and balanced umaah
Surah Nisa highlights justice in the family and other ones to justice in the community
Oftentimes, criminals specifically target witnesses including journalists and aid workers because they hold perpetrators accountable.
Important to reawaken global consciounce
Art & Photo Exhibitions
The art exhibitions included calligraphy using woodwork as well as calligraphy canvases. Generically in the form of Arabesque art which is linear, geometic, intricately detailed and involve nature, geometrical shapes as well as calligraphy.
The Photo exhibition included history of masjid Al Aqsa, particularly the dome. I learned that masjid Al Aqsa is not just the golden domed dome but that it is a 'totality of the complex that contains several mosques, domes, prayer benches, fountains'. Furthermore, there is a lot of history including rebuilding it following an earthquake during the rule of the Ottomons as well as different prophets in significat markings including the divine ascension of the Prophet Muhammad (saws), Sulaymans' Dome amongst other historically significant sites.
Tumblr media
Conversations with Attendees
Oftentimes, unless I have several deep conversations and have formed a trusting relationship, I usually like to explore places on my own. This removes social conventions, restrictions and expectations and I can take time to explore, do event or travel photography and engage with more people at a deeper level. It also helps create a safer, non judgmental environment.
I ran into a friend and I discussed different things including my engagement on SM, specifically twitter and social media etiquettes.. We also did some generically catching up.
I sat beside a lady during the talk who decided to share an oranges with me. She was really friendly and the kids also kept saying hi to me or smiling at me.
The prayer spaces were generically calm and serene.
Waiting for prayers I sat at a lounge where I talked to a highschooler who had come all the way from Niagra with family who generically engaged with scholastic work from the 60s or earlier periods but thought this speaker would provide insightful point of view.
Conclusion
All in all it was a pretty serene gathering. I found that the talk provided key insights and perspectives. It was also a way to collectively share and address concerns. A couple of people took the shahadah - the testimony of faith and reverted to Islam. The vendors were highly credible organizations that had done a lot of ground-level work in the medical, humanitarian and social service sector. There were interesting books, merchandise (Palestine t-shirts, water bottles etc.). The photo and art exhibitions were very informative. The prayer hall was serene. Most attendees were pretty kind and friendly.
It really filled my soul with knowledge, peace and tranquility. For a moment while a speaker did a talk, I felt a momentary engulfing sorrow, something that I cannot truly understand but for the most part, it was an beautiful and blessed gathering.

Hello there 👋
@islamgazaaccount2
Islam, a 27-year-old from Gaza, is currently sleeping on the streets without any form of shelter or safety for himself and his family. Their home was demolished by a bombing from the Israeli occupation. While shelter is crucial, they also urgently need food and water. All of their necessities were taken away.
Islam tried sharing a donation link, but with limited followers, it wasn't reaching enough people. Thankfully, he created a GoFundMe account, making it easier for those who want to help.
Please consider sharing Islam's story and donating to his GoFundMe. Even a small contribution can make a big difference in their time of need. 🙏❤️
https://gofund.me/08ed0b8c
This fundraiser is on the following list of vetted ones and has been verified by @90-ghost and @riding-with-the-wild-hunt
Sure, I can share! I am not super well-versed in the process of verifying individual fundraisers, so while I can't personally speak to the above fundraiser, but I also know Operation Olive Branch has done a ton of work in organizing, sharing and verifying mutual aid requests, so I think they're a great resource to refer to as well.
And as someone who lives in Canada, I do also have a few resources for those looking to donate to Palestine from within Canada as well:
E-Sims for Gaza (Canada-based crowd-funding for e-sims if you’d rather not purchase directly; can use credit or PayPal through that link or e-transfer through the information on the Disability Visibility website)
Medical Aid for Palestine (via CanadaHelps, also accepts credit card, PayPal, Google Pay, Visa Gift Card)
Canadian Red Cross Middle East Humanitarian Crisis Appeal (via RedCross website, accepts credit card or PayPal)
UNICEF Appeal for Children in Gaza Crisis (via the Canadian website, requires a credit card)
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (the link is to their general fund on the Canadian website but they are actively working in Palestine, requires a credit card)
Non-financial means of support/action: Read the open petitions tagged with ‘Palestine’ in the House of Commons website and sign those petitions like e-4842 which calls for an immediate end to arms support to Israel by the Canadian government
I know it is amazing to donate directly to local Palestinian organizations and campaigns, but I also know that people experience different levels of access, knowledge, exchange rates, privacy concerns, etc. etc., so the above list can help with some of that!
Disclaimer: I am not an expert in charities, so while I tried to point to charities and resources I know of that have measures of financial transparency, this is not a review of these charities, but rather, quick and direct information on ways to donate in my region! Also, I know that PayPal is on the some lists for BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanctions), so that is worth bearing in mind while choosing your method of support.
