Color Psychology and the Impact on Learning Outcomes
Color psychology — the study of how color affects mood, emotions, and memory — has the potential to improve learning outcomes. Humanities students who studied color-coded course content remembered more of what they’d read as a result, a study published in Heliyon reveals. Red was the most effective color as it aided memory retention for 57% of students, whereas black was least effective (it helped only 20% of students). As humans are visual creatures, color impacts the way information is absorbed and retained. So, if you want to make your online courses as engaging, valuable, and effective as possible for students, customers, or employees, color psychology principles can do just that.
The science behind color psychology
Although the reasons behind why color influences mood, memory, and learning outcomes are varied, it largely comes down to the fact that sight is our strongest sense. “90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual”, MIT Sloan reveals. That means color has a huge impact on the brain’s visual neurons. When you see colors, different parts of the visual cortex light up in response to help you recognize and associate each individual color. So, as your brain is basically wired to remember colors, that’s ultimately why it's easier to remember information when it’s accompanied by color, far more so than it is to remember black and white text or spoken information.
Blue aids relaxation and focus
Colors like blue and green (peaceful shades found in nature) can reduce stress and anxiety and put you in a relaxed, focused state that’s conducive to learning. Blue, in particular, has been proven to improve performance in creative tasks, a study published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) reveals. This is likely because you often need to be in a calm and relaxed “flow state” in order to excel creatively — and blue can help get you there. Research from Lund University also echoes this research as blue was found to relieve stress and improve focus. Consequently, blue can help people perform tasks quickly and with greater accuracy.
Red stimulates cognitive function
Warm colors like red, yellow, and orange can boost alertness and cognitive function, which, in turn, aids memory retention. In fact, the AAAS research also found that red specifically improves how people perform on detail-oriented tasks. However, as red is such a bold color, it shouldn’t be used too much. The research also found that heavy usage of red overstimulates learners and causes them to get distracted.
Well-designed courses aid employee satisfaction and retention
When you consider that learning development is vital to employee satisfaction and retention, it’s all the more important to design your course well. Your ultimate aim is to help employees learn efficiently, so they can progress in their position with you. In fact, 48% of American workers would happily switch jobs if the new one offered skills development opportunities, which highlights the potential of upskilling to attract and retain employees. “If your employees feel that they’re growing and developing skills [that] suit their strengths and their career goals, they are going to be more satisfied and more likely to stay in their roles”, Amplify HR founder Karen Kirton explains.
Use color and contrast to increase focus
Fortunately, strategic use of color can engage employees and make your course more effective. So, for example, to use color to stimulate focus, highlight key parts of the text with different background colors to emphasize important points. This adds variety that breaks up the content and makes it easier for students to take in the most useful information. Be careful not to overdo it, though. Use color sparingly to prevent the course looking cluttered, otherwise it’ll confuse students and hamper productivity.
Also, consider how you use contrast: the difference between two color hues. Past research shows that when colors contrast, the eye is naturally drawn to them. So, choose a background color that opposes and contrasts nicely with the text to increase readability and retention.
Strategic color use is key if you want to create engaging and effective courses. As long as you follow color psychology principles, you’ll help students and employees better absorb and remember your content, so they achieve better learning outcomes.

The musical episode.
[First] Prev <–-> Next
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#jin guangyao#nie mingjue#Remember jin guangyao: If you do any treachery you will face the wrath of five horses.#When are the horses going to come into play? You'll see.#s2.ep8 had beautiful music... I listened to it on loop while drawing!#Good music to chill out to before you fly into a rage.#This episode really cements how JGY's mind works - It is a matter of long-term outcomes at the sake of nearly everything else.#Morals do not matter to him if the outcome is more favourable.#and at the center of it all - he has learned that the only person he can truly trust is himself.#In turn - the only person his actions benefit are himself.#He will do anything and everything it takes to reach a position of power - not just for the power. But because it means safety.#Because it was something he was denied and the idea of not having control in his life again is unforgivable.#'Happiness' isn't a goal. We are looking at someone still stuck at the bottom of Maslow's hierarchy of needs.#Everything and everyone is a piece in a game. Bonds and friendships are assets. People are dispensable.#He wants to climb for the sake of climbing. He wants praise and recognition because he feels it is deserved. It's all so hollow.#We could go deeper into his psyche on this.#But these are also tags under a comic in which 'evil penis music' is the punchline.

ever since I had a thought of them also putting Gideon in the tomb at the end, I have known no peace
not the same one on the ninth, just in similar stasis as Alecto and willingly, don't know why maybe some shenanigans so the sun won't collapsed
and not for good, that would be too unfair for her, but Harrow is a lyctor, she can wait for a hundred of years
#it's not the best outcome but at least there's some hope for the future#maybe Harrow can learn live for Gideon#the locked tomb#just thinking of Harrow putting her to sleep and Gideon keeps laughing it off like#'I don't need you withered here everyday just checking in once in a decade to wipe the drool from my face'#'and make sure I'm not sleeping in a weird poses#'and I'm also kicking in my sleep a lot'

What gets me about the narrative possibility of Harriet being cursed when you encounter her at the door is imagine being Sophie in that situation:
Your mother is back, you lost each other but now she’s back. But something’s off, she doesn’t speak right, her gestures are off, it doesn’t feel like her; because it isn’t her, not anymore at least
She attacks, she wants her child, you can only be held back and cry in fear, horror and grief as you watch the people who have been looking after you be forced to mercilessly beat and kill your mother
You beg them to stop, and it’s not that they won’t, it’s that they can’t, they’re forced to. It’s to keep them all safe, it’s to keep you safe. You cry for them to stop, don’t hurt her mom, she wants to see her mom. She isn’t moving anymore.
#blimbo rambles#look outside#Sophie look outside#imagine the pure fear felt by Sophie after that: the people who protected you had to kill your mom#You learn there was something wrong with her. You Saw that she was cursed#But she was your mom. How can you let go seeing your mom in the state she was in#Goddamit all of these characters make me go crazy#And You guys in the look outside tag get to see my ramblings on it#that’s what I really like about the game is how many narrative paths you can take when#you make your own fanworks. It can follow multiple different sets of characters or multiple outcomes#different circumstances and such#look outside spoilers#just in case

Anime NYC will be here in a few months, so it's back to charm making ideas for me! And since I'm really embracing the layered charm idea, I thought I'd make something for all 5 Rozen Maiden fans still out there! She's going to be 3 layers AND...I'm adding hinges to her case so the top opens up >:}
(Right now I'm doing a test run of Shinku, but if the idea turns out well, I'll be adding Suigintou as well~)
#lucky art#Rozen maiden#shinku#Very excited to see the outcome of this#More so having to learn how to attach miniature hinges to things~

My MLP Summer Swap gift for @dragonlunar who prompted Spitdash butchxbutch competitions! My excitement took over and it ended up way bigger than initially planned.
Ultimately it ended up as a Spitdash MMA fight with some tenderness sprinkled in between. My main inspiration was pretty gruesome MMA photos and seeing some MMA woman kiss her opponent during press stand-off. Which I loved and wanted to portray!
Some notes: - I very clearly have no idea about MMA. This probably shows in various ways, so don't take this a proper representation of the sport. - Yes I know it's weird how they have separate locker rooms but share them in the end. Please ignore it for the sake of plot and kissing! - Making a comic in a short span of time makes you learn a lot, especially regulating your tendency for perfection. Can recommend for learning purposes, cannot recommend in terms of stress level management! - I'd like to formally apologize to Fluttershy lovers. I simply could not figure out a way to include her in the final shot without disliking the composition and how it all comes together. - I still hate drawing AJs hat and it's definitely something I need to practice more.
Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed!
#this is my first (short) comic#I have to say I'm pretty proud of the final outcome - will reblog a few times!#It's super interesting to learn during the whole process#There are things I know to make different next time (I still have a rarijack short comic in store which I started last year)#(I think it's roughly the same length)#Also complete side note: it was so so fun to transcribe the whole comic in the image description#spitdash#spitfire#rainbow dash#my art#comics#mlp#rarity#aplejack#fleetfoot#soarin#cw violence#cw blood#wonderbolts

whyyyyyy does everyone make the jump from 'it is likely plays were taught to the tragic chorus by ear rather than with the aid of a written text' (reasonable conclusion) to 'it is therefore likely that plays were composed by ear and memory rather than as written texts'. i just don't think the latter necessarily has to follow from the former, even if the composer is usually the didaskalos.
#like if you're in rehearsal and (e.g.) half the chorus is singing αλουσα and the other half is singing αν ουσα#and you considered both in the process of composing#you can't be like 'wait which one did i end up going with in the end'#and you can't (like the homeric bard) switch between metrically-equivalent variants each time you teach it#bc the chorus has to all learn and perform it the same way#so there's a certain textual fixity required as the outcome of the composing process#it has to be a fixed 'text' that is taught to the chorus#and in order for someone who has probably thought of a million variations on it (ie the composer) to 'freeze' that text--#i think he's probably writing it down. for his own use if not for the individual actors.#the chorus definitely isn't getting copies and i figure the actors probably aren't either#mine

Just a little PSA: I'm deleting every reblog I have talking about Israel and Palestine.
I knew I didn't know very much about what was going on, but seeing the horrors of what was happening, I felt compelled to try and help. One way I thought I was helping was by reblogging things I thought seemed important/worth sharing as a way to spread the word.
It's since been pointed out to me that this wasn't actually helpful and was actually quite the opposite. What was actually happening, unfortunately is that I was spreading misinformation and hate. That was definitely not my intention and I want to sincerely apologize for doing so.
Until I've completed the much needed research I need to do on the subject, I'll remain quiet and on the sidelines. Reading posts by Jewish people and learning real ways to be helpful.
I am so genuinely sorry for my ignorance, and I cannot believe my actions may have contributed to getting people killed. That's not my intention and it never will be. ❤
If anyone would like to chat privately - whether to vent or whatever - please feel free! I want Jewish people (and other minorities) to feel nothing but safe talking to me/on my blog. I'm here to listen, if needed.
