If you’re seeking an autism diagnosis I need you to understand a few things pleeaase hear me out
Not meeting the actual criteria is the only valid reason for them to deem you allistic!!!
just so we’re clear, the actual criteria says nothing about avoiding eye contact, flat affect, flapping hands, or anything along the lines of outwardly seeming “autistic enough” (because it is a neurological condition, in your brain, which is not visible. there is no such thing as looking or seeming autistic because autism doesn’t look or seem any one way, it is extremely different for everyone)
If they cite any of these commonly cited reasons (or anything other than the actual criteria)…RUN. Do not take them seriously. Consult a less ignorant clinician. Seek help elsewhere
If you are actually worried about not seeming autistic enough, say something like “I’m high masking and am not able to unmask on command, will the assessment account for this?” when you meet your assessor
If you know you are uncomfortable with confrontation or unable to hold your ground in that kind of situation, look into getting a patient advocate.
Allistic people do not spend time and energy obsessing over whether or or not they’re autistic. They just don’t. So if you really truly think you are and you want a clinical diagnosis, do not give up. Do not take no for an answer. You know yourself better than anyone.

You are not what they say you are, and you are not even what they think you are. You are who you choose to be. You are the way you choose to live, to speak, to think, to wonder and to wander. You are what you are most profoundly thankful for, and what you love...

Emotional regulation is a very important & necessary skill to practice for growth, handling difficult situations/ people/ interactions, and better protecting your own peace. It’s often hard to stop & assess your feelings before acting, especially when you’ve endured certain traumas or spent too much time on the internet where it’s easy to get upset over basic misunderstandings, but once you make the effort & remain consistent, you’ll see how fast your life & approach to future encounters improves for the better.

hmm i don't think the nuances of astarion's reaction to araj is to do with him finding romanticisation of his vampirism specifically to be distasteful so much as, like, she's objectifying him and that's what he doesn't like (but instead of sex, it's based on his vampirism). something something there's a difference between strangers and someone you trust something

Musical Anhedonia, a life without music.
Daily writing promptWhat would your life be like without music?View all responses While music is often hailed as a universal language, its power to evoke emotions and connect people can be elusive for some. I, for one, have lived a perfectly fulfilling life without ever experiencing the joy or pleasure that music brings. Despite popular belief, your life can be totally fulfilling without the…

If you're inherently a free spirit, there may come a point in your life when you're called to make a radical change in your lifestyle, a time to begin to boldly do things which you may previously never have thought of doing, or been too hesitant to attempt.
So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservation, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality cause damage to their spirit.
The very basic core of a free spirit, is his or her passion for adventure.
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have the opportunity to experience a changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
If you consider yourself a free spirit, and want to get more out of life, you must lose your inclination for monotonous security and adopt a pragmatic style of life that will at first appear to you to be crazy. But once you become accustomed to such a life you will see its full meaning and its incredible beauty.

One of my favourite parts about autistic people is how you can use other peoples' reflections of them like an echolocation bullshit detector. Like they personally do not need to do shit for this to work, they just passively emit their own autistic vibe that bounces off every surface around them, and you can assess another person's level of self-awareness by how they reflect it back.
"Autistic people do not understand social hierarchy" nope, they understand you're supposed to be an authority here, but they won't politely pretend to respect you if they think you're incompetent.
"Autistic people do not understand humour" nope, they just don't politely pretend to laugh to humour you, and you are simply not funny.
"Autistic people are rude" nope, they just don't think it's polite to lie to you, and don't care about trying to tell you what they think you want to hear instead of telling you what they think.
"Autistic people sometimes have emotional meltdowns for absolutely no reason" nope, you're just insufferable to be around and the person with the lowest tolerance of your shit is simply the canary in the coal mine who breaks first.
