One of the things that makes the family conflict in Lilo & Stitch work narratively is that Cobra is correct in that Lilo and Nani's current situation is non-sustainable. And yes, Nani is not prepared to handle everything by herself. But losing the custody is not the solution either, and to a degree Cobra seems to believe the same (he legit does not want that to happen), but if Nani can't solve the problem, then from his perspective it's the least harmful solution.
And the conflict is solved because what Lilo and Nani need (what they REALLY needed) is a support net. Someone, anyone to be there to take at least SOME of the burden from Nani and give her breathing room.
Which is why Jumba and Peakley joining the family alongside Stitch, and become a constant pressence who share the burden of the household, makes all the difference.
And this does not solve all the problems, because the movie is not about magically resolving those problems, it's about putting the characters in a situation in which they can move forward as a family. And for their desire to be a family and be together as a family, to be respected.
Anyway, someone told me what the remake did for the ending

#superfamilyweek#superman#dcu#clois#lois lane#clark kent#i was actually gonna post this a few days ago but then i found out about the superfamily week#it wasn't made for it but i hope you can accept this humble offering even if it doesn't really fit the prompts#art#digital#fanart#live-action#dc#regular#final#colour#this actually from june when the set photos came out and i just got completely obsessed and went into a clois haze#it all looks so good though!! the whole thing!!!! i'm vibrating with excitement just thinking about it!!!!!!!#if this film isn't good i'm gonna be sooo disappointed you guys have no idea how much i'm looking forward to it#but anyway. ART RAMBLES: as i mentioned on the tags of my last drawing this piece gave me SUCH a headache#i think it's probably cos it was just supposed to be a quick sketch so i used a more stable pencil brush#but then i really liked it so i decided to properly colour it instead of just doing the watercolour thing i usually do for sketches#but with finished pieces i like the lineart to be kinda messy and the sketch to even show through bit#and since i used the more stable brush for the sketch it ended up looking WAY too clean. not like my stuff at all.#so i just started throwing stuff at the wall to see what could make it more interesting. full background! actual lineart! texture layers!#and this here is what i was the happiest with. i don't... love it though. it should be looking way more interesting given the pose#and then i also did the purge girl halfway through this and it looked SO good right out of the bat (pun intended)#so i went a bit into a spiral. did some realistic stuff i'll post soon. and now am trying out a thick black lineart style.#(i'll definitely still use the coloured lines for the sketchy watercolour stuff though. it just looks way too cute)

Selective Obliviousness in Fandom: When You Miss the Point That Hard
So can we talk about how fandoms will actively ignore the core themes of a show to preserve their comfort zone or feed their aesthetic preferences?
Because I'm still reeling over how people can watch a series like Kamen Rider Gavv, where:
Stomach Inc. is literally a drug empire built on colonial violence, abduction, and exploitation of a land's native people (humans)
The Granutes are portrayed as a sapient society, not a monolithic horde of predators
The Dark Treats are banned in Granute society, and even former addicts like Comel Amaruga get redemption arcs by acknowledging the horror of what they've done
And Shoma is the only voice of empathy and bridge between worlds, enduring abuse from a broken, power-hungry family.
...and then somehow come out of it going "haha funny pig-boy fanart because the Granutes see humans as animals."
Excuse me, what show did you watch?
This isn't just Gavv either. It happens across fandoms:
People vilify Tahomaru (Dororo 2019) for being "cruel to Hyakkimaru," completely ignoring that he's a teenage samurai heir caught in the pressures of feudal survival politics, manipulated by a warlord father.
People reduce Goro Akechi (Persona 5) to a "psycho rival" meme while skipping the part where he's the abandoned child of a politician, used and discarded by every adult around him.
People treat Anthy Himemiya (Revolutionary Girl Utena) as a sainted victim and ignore how she's also a complex participant in the "system"—one that easily falls apart without her playing along—who actively betrays others like Utena Tenjou before eventually breaking free.
And the wildest part? Fandom loves to scream about "systemic oppression" until a story actually demands that they sit with uncomfortable questions about complicity, inherited trauma, or ideological grooming. Then it's all jokes, memes, and villain-simping.
You cannot consume media about systems of violence and then turn around and embrace the logic of the oppressor because it looks cooler or more aesthetically pleasing.
This isn't "dark academia." This is missing the entire point.

The "Party" Dude
Everyone knows that Michelangelo is "A Party Dude" and most times that means he's the fun guy. But y'know what else that means? What do we do at parties?
We gather. We socialize. We meet other people.
And that's always been Mike's thing throughout the various canons, hasn't it? He's always been the guy most interested in trying to reach out to people.
-Like the 1987 episode "The Gang's All Here", where he takes a spiked cookie that turns him into human so he can go out in public.
-Or in the Next Mutation episode "Turtles Night Out" where he hosts an animal-themed costumed rave. He also hosts a radio talk show which gives him the chance to interact with people.
-In the 2003 canon, his desire to be a superhero is so he and his Turtles can be accepted by the masses.
Of course, sometimes it backfires, like in the 2012 canon episode "New Friend, Old Enemy" where his attempts to befriend famed martial artist Chris Bradford goes wrong because Bradford is in with the Shredder.
And yes, in Mutant Mayhem all of the Turtles are keen on being accepted by humanity, but the one most common to do so is our 'chucker extraordinaire, Michelangelo.

Herbie franchise > Herbie the Love Bug
Inanimate Object Characters List | Entry: 92
As far as I'm aware, Herbie is literally THE ONLY inanimate object character that is from live-action media, actually sentient (not AI like K.I.T.T., that is) and ISN'T EVIL (all inanimate object horror movies) or from a WEIRD AF media (those two movies I mentioned in entry 69).
We need more like Herbie. Please. (Talking to all movie directors.)
Tumblr media
Character: Herbie the Love Bug
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Movies: The Love Bug (1969), Herbie Rides Again (1974), Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo (1977), Herbie Goes Bananas (1980), The Love Bug (1997), Herbie Fully Loaded (2005)
There was also a five-episodes Herbie TV series that aired in 1982.
Aside from Herbie himself, we got his first love interest, Giselle (featured in "Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo", 1977) and his evil twin brother, Horace the Hate Bug (featured in "The Love Bug", 1997).

Why do people watch complex stories just to ignore the actual complexity?
It never stops being wild how often fandom consumes media for the surface-level appeal—fights, cool powers, aesthetics, "emotional moments"—while completely bypassing the actual point of the story.
People will watch a show like Kamen Rider Gavv, see the Stomach family, and go:
"ew Bouche is gross for having a kid with a human" "Siita and Jiip are annoying bullies" "Glotta is cool tho" All while ignoring that the series is literally about a colonial drug empire built on systemic violence and intergenerational trauma. The Stomach family is rotting from the inside because of the ideology Zomb passed down: power over love, control over care, commodification over connection. Bouche was trying to "protect" Shoma not because he was evil or obsessed with humans, but because he was scared—scared of what their family and their world would do to a half-human child. That's tragedy, not "gross writing."
Same thing with the manga One Piece and Hody Jones.
People say:
"he's weak" "he's a boring villain" But Hody was never about being strong. He's a product of hatred passed down like poison. He doesn't even believe in the ideals of the fish-men he claims to avenge—he just wants an enemy to hate. He's a reflection of real-world ultra-nationalism, of people who cling to inherited trauma but twist it into fascism. That's not a flat character. That's chillingly real.
These stories aren't perfect, sure. But they're saying something. And fandoms that focus only on the "badassery" or the "shipping potential" or the "cool designs" and ignore that... end up praising the characters who embody the most violent parts of the system while mocking the ones who are victims and survivors of it.
Like, yes, media is for fun. But when the story gives you the blueprint for why things are broken, for how systems of power twist people, for how trauma replicates across generations—and you still go "ugh Bouche is gross, Glotta is slay"—what story were you even watching??
