"You can't consume problematic media!"
Maybe YOU can't. I, on the other hand, have critical thinking skills and a lot of spite.

Mr. Jorge Gutierrez is an inspiration, a trailblazer, a singularly visionary artist with an instantly recognizable style and I love him and admire him so much. But the family of the main character (girl on the left) in his new Netflix show “Maya y los tres” (”Maya and the Three” in English) looks like this:
and one of my special personal character design least favorite things is this god dang
HUGE DAD tiny dainty mom and look-alike dainty daughter animated family arrangement
and I am at my limit, sir. Mr. Gutierrez I love you and I’m going to watch this show but you are on thin ice my man
Hiccup isn’t a daughter but How To Train Your Dragon did this exact same thing and I was just as disappointed with that too. So he’s also invited to this post.
One day someone will do an animated family where the mom is huge and beefy and the dad is small and delicate, or the courageous daughter main character takes after Beef Dad much more than she takes after Dainty Mom, or some other kind of subversion, and on that day I will be healed. But today is not that day.

No matter how you feel about Scarlett Johansson as a person, the fact is that with this claim, you should be supporting her in this case against Disney. It doesn’t matter that “she’s rich and she doesn’t need more money”, or whatever you think about the casting controversies. This is a legal breach of contract, that apparently meant she lost out on 50 MILLION DOLLARS. She is completely justified. And if she lost that much, how much did Florence possibly lose out on? Rachel and David? Anyone who’s acted in a Disney+ release, how much did they lose out on because the Mouse House are greedy fuckers who want 100% of the profits?
At the end of the day, it’s about Disney not thinking that because they’re a multi-billion dollar conglomerate they’re allowed to bully their actors into taking less than they were promised. It’s about protecting actors who are not white A-List Hollywood stars with the means to endlessly fund expensive lawyers from the same exploitation in the future.
Until more information is released, I’m standing with Scarlett. You can’t really claim that you support professional women to demand what they’re worth and promised and then be like, “except her, she’s doing fine as is”. Even if her motivations were entirely selfish, or she doesn’t win, this case is so important. It’ll set a precedent for the industry going forward.
(maybe I’m mad that she’s destroying her own mcu legacy but i understand this was a bigger worry. also i’m a little confused because she just signed on to produce that Tower of Terror movie for Disney so is that now off? idk I just want everyone to be friends this fandom is never peaceful)

i think it would be really funny if techno just wore technomerch the whole lore stream. and for the next streams. this is canon now.
[img ID: Two digital drawings of Technoblade. In the first drawing, he's standing with his left arm a little outstretched, as if to push away his cape. Under his cape, he's wearing one of his merch: a red long sleeve tee with a large Technoblade black lettering logo in the middle. At the right arm, where he's holding a handle of an axe, the sleeve has 6 small Technoblade pigs. There is lava behind him. To the bottom left of the drawing is a small cartoon dog. Dialogue reads: "Hello Dream! Bet you didn't expect me here."
In the second drawing, it's a simple drawing of Techno with a red hoodie under his cape. On the left side of the chest is a small Technoblade pig logo. His hands are in the hoodie pockets and some purple stars are next to his head.
end ID.]

I really think that, similar to how looking at advertising and influencers and such for too long can be bad for your own self-image, listening only to professionally-recorded and produced songs can change how you view music as a whole, and that’s dangerous
guess what! you can sing! and I don’t mean like, “just try, I’m sure you’ll sound fine! :)” no, I mean that as a human being, as a creature on this earth, you can and should vibrate your vocal cords to make a variety of sounds, in whatever way makes you happy, no matter what the fuck it sounds like to anybody else
hey! nobody actually has a perfect voice! nobody sings the correct notes 100% of the time! almost every musical artist uses some form of pitch correction these days! and that’s okay, for the most part!
but if you can, please listen to people sing, just random average people. find some friends and sit in a circle and sing your favorite camp songs. tell bad jokes, and laugh together, and take turns singing whatever is in your soul! fuck, just start singing bohemian rhapsody somewhere, or piano man, and listen to everyone when they join in, and hear how different their voices all sound
music and singing aren’t just for people who can do it well enough to make money from it! you should sing whenever you have the chance, because you’re alive, and because you can, and you don’t need any better reason than that!
and before anyone jumps in with, “pfft, if you heard my voice, you wouldn’t want me to sing-” I’ve just got to say, like. listen.
listen.
I love music. you know I do; I run a music blog (well, insomuch as anything I make can be called “music”) and I listen to music all the time
but the best music I’ve ever heard in my entire goddamn life has come from regular people, not professional singers. people whose voices crack and who sometimes can’t hold a tune to save their lives, but who sing because they want to, because they know that music doesn’t belong just to people who can “make it” in the entertainment industry - it belongs to everybody.
that means you, too
and no matter if you’re bad at it - or if you think you’re bad at it - if you want to sing, you can! and if you want to listen to other people sing, you can find a way to do that, too
that’s all
