Gahh I can't believe it's finished!!! it was a close call having to do this in two weeks… But I have finished as of 2:41 AM today!! (~6 hrs before the deadline!) I am sooo tired but once again I'm super proud of how this came out!

What to do when you have a big test that covers LOTS of things:

So many classes I have taken just have a midterm and then a cumulative final. And these seem so daunting and scary because it can literally make you fail the class if you do bad on one. Studying for these major exams is so stressful too. You have months of material to sift through.

It's not hopeless and you don't need to stress so much! I have some tips to help after years of stress and tears.

If your teacher relies heavily on the textbook, find the chapter summaries and use those as a guide. Those will highlight the main topics in the chapter. It will help you identify what you know well and what you need to study.

If you have quizzes in the class, study the quiz questions. Chances are the test will have some of the same or very similar questions. Teachers love to recycle.

Get a separate sheet of paper. Go through your notes and write down important dates/time frames. Make a new section. Write down important people or species. New section. Major events/key words. New section. Numbers/equations/formulas. New section. Subjects and topics covered. New section. Other important things like experiments or super important things. Congrats! You now have a set of skeleton notes with the bare bones. This is going to be your holy grail. It has all the big important information without the messy, niche details. Don't write the meanings of any of these things. Just write them in a list. Below is an example of my last start to one of these.

Review any homework assignments

Look at vocab. If you understand the vocab and when to use the words, you're in a really good spot.

Have a good understanding of all the major subjects and a really good understanding of a few main niche things from each subject.

You won't know everything and that's ok. Don't try to know everything.

My midterm paper is about the mafia but I was out sick the day we watched the Godfather so all I can think about is the fucking rat mafia from Zootopia. I've never watched Zootopia but from what I know from Instagram clips, I'm pretty sure the rat mafia is actually a really accurate representation of what I'm supposed to be writing about. The temptation to write this paper about the rats from Zootopia instead of the Sicilian mafia is so real right now

Midterm Pride Flag

Midterm (slang): someone halfway between stages, phases, or states of sexuality, orientation, gender, presentation, identity or sex.

In Brazil, it's very common to use "meio-termo" referring to pluralians (bi/pan/ply/omni/tri/multi), cuspers/evenics (of any kind), transitioners and androgynous people, serial monogamists (and some non-monoamorous people) whose gender of partners varies (multipartnering), GNC/PNC, acespec/arospec, multigender/agender or otherwise non-binary people, and many others.

Therefore it can be a reclaimed term.

For my digital abstract painting, I created a playful and chaotic scene centered around a bright yellow sun with sunglasses, surrounded by different weather elements like lightning bolts, a thermometer, a rain cloud, and a purple umbrella. I also added swirly tornado shapes and energetic red and yellow lines to give the piece a feeling of movement and unpredictability. Digitally, I felt really in control, I could quickly move stickers, draw freehand, and layer everything to build a dynamic environment that feels both fun and a little wild.

When I painted it by hand, I noticed the process slowed me down, but it also made me think more about the textures and how to blend colors to capture the same energy as the digital piece. I appreciated how smooth and bold everything looked digitally, but working with real paint made the sun feel more alive and gave the clouds and tornadoes a more natural, raw look. Digitally, it was easier to be bold fast, but physically painting it made me connect more to the theme of weather being powerful and unpredictable just like the messy, imperfect brushstrokes I ended up with. Overall, both versions helped me explore the energy and mood I wanted to capture in different ways.

Well, ducked myself academically a little bit today. Fun fact, avoidance is not a good coping skill! Gonna block out an hour a day to study, and try to update here on it.

For starters, now I need to pay for my textbook software which sucks ass, but my school might reimburse me. I also need to get my shit together before my midterm, and start scheduling flight lessons again.
